    « Disappointing »

My daughter and I were travelling across the northern states and saw this nice looking inn. So we stopped and checked in. There wasn't much in the area but they had a restaurant, however it was closed because it was Sunday. We were exhausted and went to bed. When I pulled the sheets back on my bed I found a pair of socks which told me the sheets hadn't been changed. We were so tired I just lay on top of the bed and told the front desk in the morning. All they would do was to offer us a free night the next time we stayed there. With a one year time frame. There's very little chance we'll be back so we left un satisfied with their offer.

    « Can't Beat the Value! »

Was pleasantly surprised by how nice the experience was for an overnight stay. The onsite restaurant/lounge was very convenient. Room was spacious and comfortable. Microwave. Mini fridge, coffee maker and safe were all welcome amenities. Breakfast was adequate and certainly made the price a real bargain. Only complaints would be smokers next to front door at checkin, very low shower pressure, and super weak coffee. Overall this was a better then expected experience and a terrific value.

« Scary and Bad condition »

I would have given a zero if I could. Rooms were in real bad shape. My room smelled of someone having puked in it, and was musty smelling. Ceiling was repair patched multiple times. Mud tracked though halls. I can't believe Best Western would allow their name associated with this property. If you are traveling with the family keep going to the next available hotel. Morning breakfast was terrible, coffee weak.

    « Excellent »

Most friendly and helpful staff, a great first impression. Our room was very clean, they had one ice machine in the hotel but the staff was exceptional on assisting me to its location. We had a few drinks down in the lounge, they were short staffed but the customer service was awarding that it wasn't an issue waiting a little longer.

    4
« Great price for good accomodations »

An easy place to find, great staff, food good. Room was fine but sheets kept falling off at night. Unfortunately the diesel trucks started at 5 am outside the windows and just kept idling for hours. It would be great if there was another place instead of directly in front of guest rooms for that.

    3
    « Simply Average »

The regular rooms are small, but clean. You get soap and shampoo in the bathroom. No lotion. I requested shaving cream and it was to old and dried up to work well. Front desk service was friendly and helpful. Cheap drinks at bar. $3.50 for Local WI beer on a Sunday in 2018. Hotel shows it's age a bit in that there are knicks, scuffs, cracks, peeling, etc. Though these all appeared minor.

    3
    « Great value »

Low priced rooms, pool, hot tub, breakfast hot and cold food was great. Dog friendly. Outdated but clean. Asked for late check out and no problems, nice halfway point to stop on our way to chicago. Not the ritz but a good quick stop for a night or two.

    5
    « Great Nights Rest »

We were quite surprised at how nice this now is. Great updates, service and rest. Will definitely become a repeat customer. The only negative thing was the night clerk was very busy and did not care to field our questions.

    5
« Excellent service and great breakfast »

This place is great for the cost. A room was reasonably priced and the amenities were great. A fireplace in the lobby, a clean room, and an above average continental breakfast. I am on a paleo diet and was able to eat because the breakfast included eggs, sausage, and corned beef hash.

    « Satisfied Customer »

I really like the location this hotel was located in. Great scenery and views. If you like to gamble, the casino is only a few miles away. I even got a $5.00 pre-play to take to the casino. The Mocha Mouse next door had really good food and drinks their too. I would recommend this place if you need a nice relaxing get-a-way. The staff was extremely friendly- nicer than most hotels I've been to. Housekeeping was very courteous when cleaning rooms the following morning. I loved the Bar and Grill on site... good food. Nice place!

    « CMM »

Booked this hotel on line on our way back home to MN from Orange Beach, AL after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. The place was just ok. Parked in the back close to our room but decided to move our vehicle to the front of the building. Just felt a little leery. The room was clean. Beds were fresh. The TV in our room was to the right of both queen beds so it was a little uncomfortable watching but no big deal. There was a continental breakfast offered with the reservation which was very nice. Great coffee! Typical boxed eggs, sausage patties, donuts, fruit, yogurt, cereal. Not bad. There's also a bar/restaurant attached so if you need a nightcap then it's a plus for you.

    3
    « Right price »

Nothing fancy but it was clean and super cheap at only $65 a night, which included breakfast. If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay and a basic run of the mill room to sleep in, this is your place. Didn't swim but heard nice things about the pool, from friends who were also staying there.

    5
    « Impressed »

Very pleasantly surprised with the customer service at the front desk. More than helpful and very kind. Breakfast is excellent. Rooms clean. Excellent views. Sidewalks shoveled off clean with no ice that could cause an injury. But really what this hotel has that alot don't is great customer care . Refreshing for 2018....

« Súper Bowl Stopover WI »

My Father and I stopped here and spent one night while driving to Super Bowl LII. Great accommodation, great service, and a pretty good breakfast to set us on our way. Great stores nearby too, would recommend this place.

    « Surprisingly nice! »

We were forced to stop and find a place to stay due to horrific travel conditions. We picked here because they had a bar. We did not have high expectations, but were very pleasantly surprised! There is a nice bar and dining area. Room was spacious and nice. People were friendly and accommodating. There is an indoor pool but we did not see or use it. We would stay here again.

    4
    « Comfort/Convient »

We have stayed at Arrowhead Best Western many times since the early 90's. It's always clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Being pet friendly is a definite plus. The free breakfast always has a nice selection of food choices.

    2
« Reception area and check-in personnel was cold »

I know it is winter in Wisconsin and it was terribly cold New Year's Eve; however, the reception area in the motel almost matched the outside temperature. The check-in personnel were in coats, heavy boots and gloves. This is an unacceptable work environment. The next morning at the breakfast buffet the entire room was beyond chilly making it very uncomfortable to enjoy the breakfast. It would seem like some type of portable heaters could have been utilized. In our room there were cords and wires hanging from the receptacles. The room felt more like a converted utility room than a guest room. I will probably think twice before I reserve at Best Western Black River Falls again.

    5
    « Happy New Year »

Love this place staff is awesome! Big clean rooms! Spend New year's Eve every year! And just to get away from home it's peaceful beautiful and the amenities are great! I grew up in this hotel I hope it's always here!

« cheap and comfortable overnight stay »

we stayed overnight on our way home from Minnesota. the hotel is located off the highway so it there is no road noise. the room was comfortable and warm. the hotel had a bar and lounge that offered drinks in the evening. the hotel offered free breakfast that was hot and plentiful. this was good for the many road and power line workers that were staying here during our stay! the staff was very friendly and there was plentiful parking.

    4
    « overnight stay »

clean hotel off the road with complementary breakfast and ample parking. the hotel offered a bar and lounge area also. the price was excellent and we would use this hotel again if travelling in the area. we use Best Western a lot when travelling.

    « Business stay »

This motel is close to my work. A one stop shop for sleep and food. The bar & lounge has good food & drink. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is always good. I always feel safe staying at this motel.

    1
    « Bad »

Treated badly in front desk for re activate my room key. She's not a professional to how to treat guests. Asking ID and rude. Nevertheless I am a diamond member of Best Western. If I didn't have my ID with me or left it in the room, she wouldn't let me in my room for sure.

    5
    « Always a good experience! »

Arrowhead Lodge goes above and beyond. We always stay here while up visiting family. Nice and clean and staff is great. Breakfast buffet is very good! Restaurant and bar on premises that we also utilize. Great place all around!

    5
    « Very good value »

My husband and I are retired and it was a pleasure to stay in Black River Falls during the week. We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 15 years. We have always been very satisfied with the service we have received. In this day and age, a very good value monetarily.

    5
« The Orange Moose is great!! »

The Room : Cleaned every day, very functional and the sound levels are controlled very well. The Location: Walking distance to multiple eateries. All shopping, banks, fuel, post office, library and downtown are under 2 miles away. The Amenities: Pool, Hot Tub, Excellent Breakfast and 24 hour coffee and lemon ice water. Staff: Extremely helpful, friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. If you come in during the day, Samantha at the front desk can assist you with all your needs. She is extremely chipper, very knowledgeable about the area and the hotel, dedicated to customer service and is always pleasant and willing to help in any way she can.

    « Needs improvement »

Recently I had been driving into my 3rd State in one day and looking for a place to stay for the night with my Son. I decided to drive a bit further to this Best Western location because I knew they had the restaurant inside the hotel. My Son is a toddler, so I really wasn't looking to leave the hotel once we got settled in. After getting my room secured & drove to the closest entrance to the room. First thing I notice is how dimly lit the outside parking is (traveling alone with a little one) and I gather up my things. Walking to the door I see the garbage can is overflowing and the card reader to get in the door is busted off and dangling & the door looked like someone to a crowbar to it. Needless to say, anyone could walk right into the door. That initial impression just left me with an uneasy feeling, but tried to look past it. We get to the room & upon first glance it was decent, so I start to get things settled so we can go eat. I get my boy and myself ready and walk down to the Orange Moose, only to find a sign posted saying they were closed on Sunday, Nov.26. I really couldn't believe my eyes as the last thing I wanted to do was drive somewhere again. So we did, lost my parking spot right by the door & had a sub-par dinner I wasn't looking for. Back in the room I started realizing the room wasn't as clean as I initially thought & just got grossed out. Even down to a some cobwebs & a spider living in the top corner of the bathroom that I had joining me while brushing my teeth. The vending and ice machine closest to our room had no light and the ice machine was clearly ripped out of the wall. We had to go way to far and ask where it even was by the less than friendly bartender. This place needs some help, a shame as it could be a gem with the location. Unfortunately, I just don't know if I could say I would stay here again.

    5
« The Orange Moose Resort. »

Really nice place. Everything needed is there. They have a Bar and Restaurant that really helps after driving all day. This hotel is a Resort and offeres a lot of other things. Atv trails, Camp grounds and much more. Great place for families.

    1
    « Awful, AWFUL Hotel »

I stayed one night at this hotel for business purposes. Some issues: a dripping tub (told the building is old and this just is what it is), wiring - there is an open strand of 4 plugs put together for the TV and apparently the cable company and hotel thinks this is acceptable, sequins in the carpet (definitely not mine) along with lots of stains, poor lighting in the bathroom, entrance door and hall doors were set up for card swipe security but were not in working order, stain under the sink, rattling in the heating duct work all night, smoking outside of every entrance. I've stayed in some sketchy places during my work travels, but this one takes the cake. Go to Comfort Inn & Suites across the street.

    4
    « Great Rooms »

Stayed at a few hotels in the past year and I was impressed by the comfort and size of the room. What I wasn't too happy about is this hotel does not accept cash. It is credit card payment only. I know some families and people don't have credit cards and being tired after driving a distance, these people who have to keep driving to find another hotel. I wasn't too happy about using a credit card but I wasn't about to place myself, the people with me and others on the highway in jeopardy of me driving being tired.

    « I stay here often. »

I have stayed at this place every time I have been in the area for the last 20 years or so. It is a reasonably priced place to stay. With good bedding and comfortable rooms. However, I can't help but feel that some of the staff could use a customer service class or two.

  • 1
    « Not what I expected. »

This was a Mom/Daughter mini getaway. When we arrived we were told the hot tub isn't working (the one thing I was looking forward to). Then we were told that they're website hasn't been updated in awhile and there is no shuttle to the casino. The heating lamps in our room were burnt out. When packing to leave we found the room infested with ants. My backpack was covered in them. We will never return.

    2
    « Traveling »

Lets replace the carpet please. Or, at least clean and vacuum it. The ice machine sounded horrible and water to it ran ALL day and night. Very inefficient, loud and smelled. Why does there need to be 300 characters?

    5
    « awesome employees! »

The girl at the front desk was super sweet and very helpful and knowledgeable. We also got a phone call the night before letting us know the hot tub was down due to a part that would not come in til Monday (we stayed on a Saturday night). Being in the service industry myself, I know its best to give a heads up than have someone upset when they get there. For the little amount of time we spent in the room, it was nice to come back to a warm room and a cup of coffee after being out hunting all day and the casino was super close! Breakfast had many options and was great!

    4
    « Nice Place »

This hotel was great for the price. Everything was comfortable and the breakfast was pretty good. The location is in a nice small town that has some good options for eating and recreation. It has a restaurant in the hotel, but it was closed when we were there--only the bar was open. There is a restaurant across the parking lot. There are also several nearby trails.

    3
    « Good Price & Clean »

Just by my heading the place could easily be a 5 star place. There were a couple of downfalls to the place, but lets concentrate first on the good. -Front Desk Staff was 100% friendly and made it easy for my group of 8 (two rooms) to check in. - Breakfast in the morning was great - Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean - Pool area was quit and clean -Hotel was a great price. - Elizabeth in the bar/ dining area was a Rockstar - Other workers setting out breakfast were friendly. Now to the downfalls. They are going through a bit of construction and there are signs apologizing for the inconvenience but hammering on shingles in the morning wasn't what we were quite expecting. The only other downfall was the female bartender on staff that night was 100% rude. As stated above Elizabeth who works there needs a raise as she was friendly and helpful. However the bartender that was working we asked to change the game on the TV channel and she did so, however 10 minutes later she asked us ?Are you guys actually watching the game?. I then later asked if I could start a tab as our group wanted to have a couple beers. She simply stated ?I'm not going to stay open much longer?. So I paid for 1 beer instead with cash. I then decided if they were not going to be open long I'd try one of the tree slot machines they had in the bar. The bartender then spoke up and said ?if you win anything I wont be able to pay you out until we open tomorrow?. All and all she just came across. Now everyone has their bad day and lucky for this hotel they have more good things going for them than bad things, however this will stick in my mind next time I'm on my way through town and will think twice about staying. All and all 3 out of 5 stars based on friendliness of the others, and the right price for location.

    4
« Fine hotel - except beware the rooms with one queen. »

Fine hotel, except the rooms with one queen bed have the tv situated on a dresser to the left of the bed, so one would need to constantly look left to view. Very odd. Otherwise, price, workout room, location are fine, is quiet, clean, staff are nice, internet is acceptably fast. Amazing number of places to hike, bike, kayak nearby. Recommend eating at the StonesThrow Supper Club past HoChunk on Hwy K.

    4
    « Pleasant weekend »

Family get together. We rented 3 rooms. Breakfast was amazing with lots of options. Pool and Hot Tub were perfect temperature, plenty of towels, and pool area kept nice. The 2 rooms my family members had were extremely nice. My family's room was half the size and much lesser condition. We all reserved the same room style, not sure why the difference. We will stay here sgain.

    5
    « Utv trip »

Great place to start a trip. We went 75 miles on Sand trails from the motel our check-in day. Then 100 miles the next day when we trailered and left from Hatfield. Nice motel. Clean rooms. Comfortable stay. Gas next door. Several restaurants. One in motel. One by next door gas station. Nice moose out front! Trails close in Oct. check Jackson County atv site

« Reasonable price, but older hotel. »

I found the rooms and building to be clean but it is an older building. The breakfast was good. The staff was friendly and were helpful with finding our room and parking. I would take a top floor room.

    2
« Loyal customer turned off »

So I have stayed at this lodge many times.....this time was my least favorite. Upon arrival while checking in I asked about the restuarant on site and was told that there was NO restuarant on site. Just a lounge....that opens at 4 pm. The clerk told me that they didn't serve food in the lounge. That they only have the continental breakfast in the am. Well this am i went to the breakfast and found a MENU. YES they do have food in the lounge. They also put me in an room that the sink didnt drain and shower didnt work. Obviously they had not been in to even check that room in awhile. The shower valve just spun around and around. Not sure if I'll ever go back. And Ive been a loyal customer since the 1990s. Pretty sad how it has gone down hill.

« Great hotel and suites! »

Excellent service; pleasant staff. Great king room and nice decor. Nice setting...will stay again! The rooms were very comfortable. We like the separate sleeping room as my husband and I have different awakening times. Nice breakfast buffet and restaurant close.

    4
    « Great trail hotel »

Great place to stay for access to trails. Not the top of the line but very reasonably priced and great location to play on the trails. Gas station near by and food accommodations close. Walmart and Theisen's is also close by in case anything is forgotten.

    5
    « Not Happy »

Rooms were OK. Breakfast was the best of my stay. There was waffles, eggs, sausages, fruit, toast cereals, bagels, sweet rolls etc. The staff kept the breakfast area very clean and kept the food containers full. The menu for dinner was limited because of the fact the cook was gone. Our group was put down in the bottom floor, which would of been alright but there was a musty smell which was not pleasant. The restrooms on this floor also had problems. I will not be returning. My overall rating would be 3 stars.

    2
    « Needs Some Help! »

I'd read some good reviews, so I chose this location for a night during a work trip...don't know if some rooms have been renovated, or get more attention from staff - but my room was seriously in need a thorough cleaning. Buy the staff an edger for the vacuum please, because it looked like no one had vacuumed it in years. The furniture literally was grimy. I put a towel on the seat of the desk chair, after I noticed how bad it was. Cleaned off the wood arms with Kleenex and water - it was filthy. Bathroom not much better. Not good. And I stay at a lot of Best Westerns. Usually have a great experience. Told the front desk person, got a half hearted apology and a promise to tell the manager. Got no response from the manager. Not surprised. Big disappointment.

    « Pretty good place »

I am a 71 year old American traveling with my wife. We have stayed there twice now and, bang for the buck, this place is pretty good. The first stay was in one of their king 'suites' and it was VERY good. Obviously newly renovated. Strong WIFI, good selection of TV channels, average breakfast, good location and interesting grounds. Bathroom was big and plenty of counter space. The second time we stayed was in a double queen. Good room but the bathroom, though quite large enough, was pretty worn. Nevertheless, we will stay here again. Price is quite reasonable.

    3
    « Fix the kitchen »

For the most part, the facility served our needs. Had a queen room on back side near ATV trails. Bed comfortable and room clean. You can hear the ATVs entering/leaving the trail in your room if on this side of the building. Request lake side if you think this will be an issue. Staff pleasant but not familiar with the restaurants located in their menu binder at the front desk. This was a bit of a problem as the onsite restaurant and bar were not serving food due to 'kitchen problems'. Morning breakfast standard waffle machine, toaster, boxed donuts, eggs/sausage. Low rating on value only due to doubled rate for the weekend stay for cranfest in Warrens.

After a long day driving at last a place to pull into and recharge my internal batteries. A great nights sleep and the next day after breakfast ready to take on the roads again. Your location fit the bill perfectly

    « Has potential »

We're up in the area UTV riding, great location. Hotel is dated and old and doesn't appear to be in any rush update or put any money back into the property. Staff is somewhat friendly but extremely laxy

    5
« Excellent Value for Money and Excellent Nights Rest »

It pays to be a BW Rewards member. We got an excellent rate, a great room to relax in and a excellent nights rest. It could not have been better. The staff even helped us be able to use our BW gift card on check out. This is an excellent hotel to stay in when in the area on business or just passing through the area. King bed rooms give me the room I need to spread out and get my work done.

« Hotel awesome, Bar/Lounge amazing, Wait staff disappointment. »

Very comfortable hotel, conveniently . Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, beds and beds were comfortable and clean. The hotel staff and the hotel were awesome. The bar/bartender was a good time. But then there was the wait staff. They were something to be desired. We were told to be seated at a table by the bartender for supper and we sat at this table and asked the 3 waitresses standing there if it was okay. They asked us if we were eating and we said yes, one of them said they preferred we would sit on the other side. So we did and when we walked out 20 minutes later, we had not yet been waited on. Total disappointment.

    3
« Place to lay your head »

It's a clean hotel with the usual continental breakfast. Overall a good place to lay your head after a long day of riding the trails. Whenever I made a reservation they always tell me that I can check in early if the room is available.... that never happens, even on the Friday morning when the parking lot is empty and no one is around, you know they are not full. It's inconvenient to check in at 10 pm after you rode all day.....

Great value. Rooms are not huge, but very comfortable. Bartender was great. Our waitress did a nice job also. easily accessible off the interstate. Right on snowmobile and ATV trails. Would stay here again.

« Wonderful place to stay »

We have stayed here before and have never been disappointed. Easy access to freeway and country roads for leisure travel. After a day of travel it is nice to relax in our room and not have to leave the hotel for a bite to eat, the restaurant serves a great meal. The continental breakfast is delicious also.

« The Legend of the Orange Moose »

The legend of the Orange Moose continues here as they have 2 huge statues on this property for you to look at. My room was spacious and clean, my bed was a bit too firm but thats ok. The check in/ check out process was smooth. The morning bfast was filling and they had hot waffles, eggs, sausage with cold items like cold cereal and pastries. The bar/ lounge ...we had a great time and the staff was patient with our rather rowdy crowd!!

« So far not impressed »

Just checked in at 4:30 this afternoon and so far as of 10:30pm I'm not impressed. We are on the garden level, aka basement, that is musty smelling. Thank goodness for my essential oil diffuser we've been moving between our room and our friends to help with the smell. They have dehumidifiers going in the hall but don't seem to be doing much good. Ate at the restaurant, The Orange Moose, which was ridiculous. Food was just ok, our waitress worked with what she could but after ordering drinks were told we couldn't order food for 20 minutes per the kitchen help. Seriously? At 8:30 at night on a holiday weekend with 4 kids and we can't order? Thankfully our waitress said she'd make appetizers herself if needed so we could have something. Food was mediocre at best. On the way back to our to room at close to 10p after eating we got stuck in the elevator. When my husband tried calling using the phone in the elevator, he was hung up on. Again, stuck in an elevator for a good 5 minutes with 4 kids. Not cool. So far the only thing going for them is the access to the Atv trails. Complained and offered rooms with whirlpools but with two rooms on separate floors which isn't handy with two families traveling together. Guess I'll update as the trip goes on, but again after only 6 hours, not impressed.

    3
« Lodge-like decor in dining room and bar »

Older motel-rooms in need of remodeling, room was adequate, nothing fancy, queen bed comfortable, fridge and microwave, older tv, breakfast very good. Looks like it's popular for access to 4 wheeler trails.

« Keep looking for another hotel. »

We booked 5 rooms and were very disappointed in this Best Western. Thought we could expect better. The rooms were very small. Could hardly walk around the bed. The rooms all smelled bad. Were dirty. The drains in our room were not working properly. Would suggest looking for another room.

A very quiet older facillity. Clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Very efficient and friendly staff. Stairs coverngs are in bad condition and can be a trip hazard. Would definately stay here again.

« Comfortable, spacious king suite. Older facility well- maintained »

Many room types to choose from and priced reasonably. We enjoyed a King Suite with bed in 1 room and sofa sleeper in adjoining room, separated by door if desired foir privacy. 2 tv's, although one in bedroom lost signal, but we decided to go to bed and in the am tv worked again. Quiet wing of large hotel. Ample parking. Adjacent to park with paths where people ride atvs. Continental breakfast typical fare. Clean welll kept older facility. Large bar area but we didn't stop in. Needed a new shower curtain as the one had mildew

Everything was good. Clean, quiet, comfortable room. Excellent staff. Good breakfast with a decent selecton. It was a convenient location right off the interstate. I would stay here again if in the area.

    « Very Comfortable »

Very comfortable hotel, conveniently located close to the interstate. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, pillows smelt clean. Breakfast was nice, hot and there was plenty available. The hotel area was quiet, and felt safe.

    « Family Fun »

Very accomodating to travelers with wanting to visit in the lobby and outdoors around the hotel. NOT in the parking lot. LOVE the fountain and walking path along the lake. Picnic table, benches all of it. The only dissapointment was the family that blocked the walking path around the lake two nights in a row. Not hotel's fault

    « Huge property »

The property is massive. Enjoyed the walk around the pond for some relaxing exercise before calling it a night. The hotel was full but you would never have guessed. We were able to get a spot for dinner in the restaurant and a table for breakfast without having to wait. Our room on the second floor was huge. Largest hotel room we've ever had. Bed was very comfortable, made it hard to get up in the morning. Overall an exceptional stay and we'll be back again

« good hotel, very poor restaurant »

This was a stop for the nite going home from 5 days away. Hotel is great, with much to offer, to someone spending time there, I was in and out in 12 hours. The restaurant, while breakfest was good, was very poor in service, burger overcooked. I would stay here again, but eat elsewhere.

    « ATV stay... »

The hotel is a great place to stay when we go ATVing, always love staying here. Close to home, easy to get to, and great that they have a nice breakfast. Service is always good, parking is fantastic, and the hotel is nicely located on the Jackson/Clark Co. ATV system...

    « Nice hotel. »

Good location. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was small but there were larger rooms for money. Restaurant food good as was breakfast. There is a small lake adjoining with a trail to walk. Plenty of room to park our RV.

« Why is this #1 on TripAdvisor? »

I am a dedicated TripAdvisor user and almost always book based on reviews. Up to this point I haven't been let down but I can no longer say that. We had family staying at the Americinn down the road and I was feeling quite smug that I had the better hotel option... right up until we arrived. It's a fairly dated exterior but that had nothing on the room. We chose a king room which was very small, there was a bed, two nightstands, desk w/chair, fridge and microwave and a open closet/2 drawer piece of furniture. Small TV was mounted on the wall in the corner. The room was in desperate need of updating from the popcorn ceiling to the bathroom. Then there was the issue of the entire one side of the room by the air conditioner... Not sure if the tub above was leaking or exactly what was going on but the floor on that side of the room was soaked, not damp, soaked the entire time we were there. A t-shirt left on the floor for an hour was more wet than coming out of the washing machine! The a/c unit worked which was a plus but along with that was the faint smell of smoke so I'm guessing the room we were in was a smoking room at one point. The fan in the bathroom was so loud we weren't entirely sure we should even be using it. The night we arrived we went to get ice but there was a piece of paper taped to the nearest ice machine that it was out of order. A quick check at the front desk revealed that ALL the ice machines were out of order. By day two the sign was laminated so we weren't sure if there were plans to get them fixed! I can't really speak about the common areas as we didn't spend much more time there than we had to. It was fairly quiet for how busy the place was so that was a plus. All in all not somewhere I would choose to stay again.

« Older establishment but good stay »

The staff were great during our stay and really made us feel welcome. We had some weird gift cards and the staff went out of their way to make everything work. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was small but enjoyable. Liked having the shower to get chlorine off right in the pool area! Hated that the pool entrance was right by the kitchen, bar and lobby. People kept looking in and it was creepy. Entrance needs to be changed to the side door if at all possible. Management needs to spend some money retiling pool area (whirlpool looks dirty brown) and refurbishing everything.

    2
    « Tiny Dirty Rooms »

We stayed at this hotel for a business trip. The staff were friendly and check-in was fast. When we arrived at the room we were disappointed to see the extremely small size of the room and we were greeted with a musty smell that was very unpleasant. The bed was uncomfortable and the breakfast was watery and gross. Above the door handle was very dirty as though it hasn't been cleaned in some time and the carpets were damp.

« dont have high expectations »

place is in need of major refurbishment and updating. I stayed here 3 years ago and nothing has changed. Run down old style rooms and décor. HVAC worked good, pool area was okay. Bar was nice but it is apparent that the staff is very over worked but trying to take care of guests as best as they can

    3
    « Just Okay »

I was disappointed when I arrived at the hotel as there were bags and bags of dirty laundry sitting in the hallway as we walked to our room. You would think housekeeping would take them away right away. While our room wasn't bad, the people traveling with us complained about a very strong musty odor and had to spray perfume to try to cut the smell. There was a dehumidifier in the hallway that was full and was never emptied while we were there. On a positive note, the beds and pillows were very comfy, we liked the lemon water in the lobby (although it was empty most of the time) and the hot breakfast choices were great. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant located in the hotel, but it sure is convenient for those who do not want to leave the hotel to get a bite to eat.

    « Hotel Not Acceptable »

Have stayed at property for years attending events in the area and it went from being our favorite hotel to not staying again. Staff and cleanliness of rooms NOT ACCEPTABLE. The exterior entrance near our room did not even close (should have been accessed only with key card) remained open 24/7 because the owner would not spend the money to fix it. Had to bring in local kids (inexperienced) to clean the rooms due to lack of staff.

« Horrible service, even from General Manager »

My wife/I and small dog stayed 6/30. We were returning home from Canada and stopped in Osseo to find a Pet Friendly room and the only place that appeared decent had both P/F room booked so we asked to for another Hotel and she mentioned the Best Western in Black River Falls about 30min away. We decided to get eat at the local restaurant in Osseo and while we were there waiting on our meal my wife called the Best Western. She asked if they have a Pet-Friendly room for the 2 of us and that we also had a AARP discount and how much the room was. The girl quoted us $120 and said that they would take the AARP rate off when we arrived and they could run the card. Fortunately my wife wrote down the confirmation number/rate on a piece of paper. When we arrived they said there was an additional $20pet fee and there was no mention of a pet. I said I was sitting at the table listening when she called 30min ago? She asked the other girl and she said "I took the call and I'm pretty sure there she didn't mention anything about a pet". I said again that wasn't true. She said that they would honor the price only after I gave the confirmation# and then took my AARP card and reduced the rate down to $113(from $120 which was an odd discount). She asked me to sign the sheet showing the vehicle, license and that we had a pet which I did since they had just told me $113. We went to the room(which was fine) and when we got home the next day my wife went online and noticed they charged us $148. I called the hotel and asked and was told us was due to the Pet, I explained everything and no luck so I asked for the General Manager(Angie) and "she" said 3x that she wasn't there to hear any of the conversations and since I signed the Pet Acknowledgement that was it and that she was sorry there was any "confusion". There was NEVER any confusion. I asked to speak to her Boss who she said was the owner and she said they were not on site and I was not allowed to speak to them. She said I could call Corporate Best Western which I did. When I called the corporate number they I mentioned I spoke to the hotel and then Angie and was completely un-satisfied and they did credit us $25. Something else I found interesting while waiting on hold from Corporate I went and looked at reviews and just a fews days after ours(I believe 7/4) someone else had the similar or possibly the same issue saying they were quoted one thing then charged another. This is the 1st time I have ever negatively reviewed a hotel.

« Dining, etc at Arrowhead Lodge. »

At dinner, the special codfish had been in the freezer much too long. On previous occaisons, hamburger had been overcooked. On the plus side, salad bar and soup were good. Breakfast still good. Hot tub needed a scub above the waterline. Sink in 111 drained slowly. Water in pool was at a good temperature. We travel to MN once or twice a year and usually stop there .Pool usually colder. Redecoration was an improvement.

    « Very Disappointed »

Thought we would love this place. Great location, awesome setting but the property is run down and they have done a poor job of trying to do a 1/2 job of a renovation over a dilapidated foundation. It felt unclean even though it probably was ok. Won't stay here again. So disappointed to have brought my family here on vacation!

    3
    « Expecting more »

We were expecting more from this hotel. We had a king room which we found to be very small. The bathroom was small as well. We were awakend several times from loud noises in the hallway. The breakfast was limited but was tasty. The sausage and eggs were actually cooked rather tha microwaved.

    3
    « Good location »

At checkin I got the run around on prices. We were to have a group rate and it was cheaper to make reservations out side of the group. What is up with that?? I was promised one rate and given something higher. I have stayed here several times and each time the rooms are musty and have a bad smell when you enter the room. Will likely be looking elsewhere in the future.

« Everything is excellent rooms, service , cleanliness ,value , location, sleep quality, breakfast, food, drinks . »

But 1 thing is the hotel should give 2 bottle water for complimentary per day to guests because we prefer to drink water from bottle water If the hotel can provides bottle water to every room, it would be very excellent service

    « Ok stay »

I've stayed here a few times. Its usually a pretty ok stay. I feel it's a little over priced though. Easy access to ATV/Snowmobile trails. The beds are pretty comfortable. The food at the bar is pretty good but our waitress on this last trip was awful.

    4
    « Road trip »

We had a first floor room, 2 dble beds which were comfy, bathroom had a lighted magnifying mirror which was nice but the light didn't work on it. There were handicapped bars by the toilet and tub for safety. There was a portable shower chair. There was soap dispensers by the sink and in the tub. The shower gel dispenser smelled like an old man's soap. Our room was quiet and clean. BUT the ice machine just down the hall was very loud and needed to be put out of it's misery! Breakfast was just ok the usual, waffle, cereal, eggs and sausage type. Overall i guess I expected a little more for a Best Western Hotel.

« Want to be treated Bad and have you credit card charged more than once Stay here »

This used to be a nice hotel and I have stayed there a few times over the past few years but this last time was a bad deal. I checked in late and I was given a room in what looked like a dungeon branch of the hotel. Then I get up for work and the ceiling was falling down in my bathroom I guess the people above me overflowed the tub upstairs I called the front desk at 330 in the morning and they said they would let me use a different shower but not another room. Then when I go to check out the front desk supervisor said that they gave me the wrong rate and raised my rate by $40.00 and made it out my fault. Then she gave me the original rate to make it look good for the damaged room. I said I ws not happy and then they accused me of smoking in the room so there again my fault. Also there is never any management there to speak to the owner is always absent I guess its owned by one guy is what I was told After everything was said and done They charged my Credit card 3 times refused to refund my money and Never did anything for me after it was all said and done. I will never stay in this hotel again

    4
    « Very Happy Here »

Although we did not get the suite that I had requested when making the reservation the room turned out to be very nice. Large and very comfortable with an easy chair, desk and chair, fridge and microwave. The Lodge is far enough off the highway that road noise is not an issue. The Bar and Dining area ( called the Orange Moose ) are a definite bonus. Friendly bartender by name of Vicky. We would not hesitate to recommend this place. Bob & Martha

    « ATV Friendly »

This is a nice hotel that is directly off the ATV trails, however there are many opportunities for improvement. Our room was not ready until 3:30 - check in is at 3:00 pm. Upon entering the room, it STUNK! I am not sure if they really cleaned anything, but it smelled like a moldy wet towel. Even after opening the window for an extended period of time, it didn't remediate the issue. The breakfast was pretty good in the morning with nice spacious seating area.

    3
« SUPPOSED PET FRIENDLY HOTEL »

We paid $20 more a night to allow our pet to be with us (a small dog) but you could not bring him in the lobby, or near the pool, or in the room unattended, even in a crate. Not very friendly to me. Restaurant did not have carry out menus, yet you could call to order. How would you know what was available?

    3
    « Not the worst we've had »

Overall, a 3/5 might be a little low...but 6-7/10 would be better. Very nice location, just off Interstate, and you could not hear traffic. Arrived at check-in, and only one person at the desk as 6-7 groups were coming in. Clerk did a good job at keeping people flowing. Room was nice and quaint, was clean and did not have a musty smell-considering the humidity that was a surprise. Lots of campers and ATVs, as this hotel is on the ATV trail. Main negative... noise from other guests, especially in the hallways. Could hear the "neighbors" if they talked in a louder voice. Complimentary breakfast was good, and about what is expected. Would stay here again if we needed to...so give this a 3.5/5.

Terrible preparation of hotel for having a completely booked night. Restaurant staff was very horrible. (sweet lady but had never done waitressing before and the hotel management just threw her into the position!) Horrible.

« Needs the staff to be replaced »

The staff at this facility in the lobby and in the bar/restaurant need to be replaced. It took 45 minutes to check in. The bartender told everybody that she didn't want to work that day. The breakfast yelled at guests to get out of the breakfast area at 9:30 screaming at 30 guests. This hotel is a joke.

    3
« Excellent hotel, mediocre restaurant »

We've been coming to the Arrowhead Lodge for years. The trend as of late has been for improvements to the hotel property and I have to commend the maintenance manager of the facility - it's looking better every time we see it. Unfortunately the restaurant continues to slide down hill. Dishes that have historical ly been executed with gusto are now lackluster. We had considered being done visiting the Arrowhead Lodge until we visited the Mocha Mouse Restaurant in the hotel parking lot. The management of the Arrowhead Lodge would be well advised to hire the people running the Mocha Mouse to take over the restaurant within their hotel so that they could eliminate a competitor and return the Orange Moose Grill to its former glory. I should note that the service at the Orange Moose Restaurant was good but the menu is smaller than it's been before and the quality of the food is less.

    « Disappointed »

We spent a night there on the Memorial weekend. Our first problem emerged at check in, they didn't find - they did not put in it too much effort anyhow - our booking. Not with booking number. They said it was the booking.com's fault, we weren't the only customers, whom booking didn't show on their system. Because they use more than one system with booking.com. (This is not our problem, I think, we made the booking, they have to take care to see in their system.) We got a room, slightly cheaper then the original, but too expensive for an almost basement, dungeon smelling room. It was cold, and the heater has a sound like a John Deer (but at least it worked). The room was clean, but the sheet was not ironed - at least this is what we wanted to think. The surprise came next morning, they charged us with the booked room's fee. At the reception they - again - not helped. They said -despise the text message from the bank - they did not charged us, it was the booking.com. So we had to call the booking.com, and hopefully they could get our money back.

    2
    « Customer service...?! »

Well. We had our reservation via booking.com, arrived safely to the hotel, tried to check in. Just they did not have our reservation! It was curious. So they made a new one and got our room (which was actually cheaper than my price in my booking!). The room was in the lower level, the air was dump, like my grandma's old house, but adequate, clean, so that was OK. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was OK, it was really interesting, since it was not manned and the tools were disposable. The American coffee was something... hot water which contained some coffee taste. But here in the USA it is normal, so no complaints. The next morning I got an SMS from my bank stating I was charged for one night's fee, which was curious since I have paid at the reception before. But the girls at the reception did not have any idea, so I had to call booking.com. The girl (at booking.com) was just excellent, found out that the system mixed my first and surname (I booked in Hungarian - language setting), so that is why they did not find it. But I did not experienced any kindness, or helpfulness. They did not know about a big event (a Pow-Wow) location! So I think they need to work with it, I do not see how can they be the first in Black River Falls...

    « Side X Side Ride »

The hotel was very clean, check in and check out went smoothly, our room with double beds was clean and bed was very comfortable with numerous pillows to chose from. The reason we picked this hotel was the access to ATV trails. There were 12 couples in our group. Everyone in our group spoke highly of the hotel and rooms. The continental breakfast was very good with numerous selections. The servers were friendly and efficient. Friends used the elevator and got stuck between floors and had to crawl out. The service in Orange Moose Bar and Grill was terrible. The food was Ok, nothing special. It took 25 minutes to get a drink - then it was 1 drink at a time. There was 16 people in our party. Most of our party left to eat elsewhere. Finally got our food ordered and it took a 30 - 45 minutes to get food. There were only 8 other people in bar. Other party mentioned the quality of service in bar and grill to the front deck - there comment was " The are new". For the rest of our stay we ate away from hotel.

« Like what they've done with the Place! »

Love to sojourn at the Arrowhead Lodge, has an relaxed friendly atmosphere -- and a very attentive staff. The hotel backs up to a vast forest, cut with trails which extend for many miles. Although located in Central Wisconsin, the Arrowhead is well named -- feels like somewhere UpNorth. My room was spacious, and totally refurbished. Very clean. Also the hallways appeared to be recently carpeted, especially welcome, when a guest slips down for complimentary breakfast -- And you will not leave hungry. Nor will the lounge and restaurant disappoint a weary traveler. The horseshoe bar is generally peopled by a friendly crowd -- some local, some from everywhere. Cordial would be key term to describe the ambiance, with accent on spontaneous humor. This facility is good for a rainy day, and also a base camp for the many attractions in and about Black River Falls -- when the weather is fine. We shall return!

« Could be so much more »

Could be a decent hotel if renovated and updated. Was told by registration staff that lobby elevator was "kind of sketchy" to use. Could only take luggage and one person. Had to take an elevator at opposite end of the hotel and walk to opposite end to get to our room. Difficult to get thru approximately 8-10 doors, opening them to get luggage cart thru. Hallway and stairs dirty. Ice machine broke.

    5
    « Pleasant stay »

Had a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was good and room very clean. Only thing was that the ice machine was empty because of the people filling up their coolers. But ice was available from the restaurant which was gotten from the front desk. All in all a very good stay.

« ARRIVING HERE IS ALMOST LIKE HOME »

Been here a number of times for mini family reunions. Really nice suites. the orange moose restaurant has good food, a nice bar and a great view of the lake. The complimentary breakfast is one of the best around. My only disappointment is that Best Western had them remove the arrow heads from the building and repainted it so it doesn't have the look of the "Arrowhead" lodge. the cheese shop down the road is really a nice place too

    « Stop over night »

April 27/17 Stop over in Best Western en route to Portland, Oregon from Chicago. Hotel convenient to interstate, rooms clean, beds comfortable. Ate supper in bar / lounge, good selection of beer but poor selection of wine, buffalo wraps and potato skins were excellent. Breakfast was reasonable. Note hotel does not have an elevator. All in all, provides inexpensive stop for the night.

    « Best in town »

Check-in clerk was very helpful to get us what we needed. I had a bit of a problem with the heater. It came on with cold air and stopped with hot air. It could be better mixed. The breakfast was fresh and warm. Coffee was good, good choice of juices and cereals. The waffle iron wasn't working right.

We stopped for a one night stay while on a road trip. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was average but the atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing. « Taking handicapped Mother to visit Friends/Family »

Pros - Beds are heavenly, Cleaning staff wonderful, 2 Queen bedroom suite was spacious and quiet, Vicki the bartender in the Orange Moose Bar was very nice and efficient. Cons - Our entrance #5 was around the building I was told upon check in that the ice and vending machines were very close to our room which was great however, the ice machine had been removed didn't exist and the vending machine bill accepter was broken I had to walk all the way to the lobby to get ice, unacceptable, the security door to card swiper card swiper was loose it took me an average of 4 swipes to get into the building. The ATM in the lobby was out of money, I had to get in my car and drive to another one. I think this Hotel has potential but needs some work

    « Awesome Stay »

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights during a recent business trip. I was able to get an upgrade to a King Suite room with a view of the large pond due to my Best Western Rewards status. The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating to the guests. The hot breakfast was a nice surprise with scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, coffee, etc. The food at the Orange Moose Bar & Grill was very good as well as the service. The bar at the Orange Moose is very nice and has a relaxing environment. The bed in the room was very comfortable and I was able to sleep well. Overall, the hotel is an excellent choice for a business traveler like myself.

« Very Helpful Management and Staff »

I needed a place for out-of-town relatives to stay during a family event. I called other hotels asking if they could give me a group rate for only 4 rooms, and they said they could not. The Best Western manager was willing to help me by offering discounted rates for only 4 rooms. I had to call and make changes to reservations at least 3 times due to family requests. Every time I called the staff were helpful and courteous. This will be the first hotel I recommend to people needing a place to stay in Black River Falls.

    « Work trip »

My previous stays here have been good but this time I was given a smaller room that was poorly arranged, had very little space, and looked like maintenance hadn't been there for a couple of years. Good restaurant, good breakfast, and mostly good staff. So I'll try here again due to location, parking for large vehicles, and good staff but I'll need to see more attention given to the property itself. Fresh paint does not constitute a renovation.

    « Very kind »

Extraordinarily helpful staff. The room may not have the very latest in decor, but everything one needs is there. The presence of a restaurant in the building makes it possible to relax after a long drive and not have to go out again.

    « Staff »

Recently stay here with my grandson, the room we had 105 was nicely located to the door and lobby. We were checked in by Sabrina who was beyond helpful and educated on Best Western rewards. We saw her several times that night and she was polite and had a smile each time. The guy that came in after her was rather rude and refused to even talk to us, we asked him where the ice machine was and he just pointed. The food was okay, typical bar food with a small menu, but the waiter was friendly. I would likely stay here again because of the front desk staff.

« Great for pets; Restaurant disappoints »

My husband & I were traveling with our yellow lab for a one night stay. I had stayed here with my dog just less than 2 wks before our 10-13-16 stay. When I was there before, I had an awesome dinner that was wonderfully prepared. This time, however, in such a short time, they discontinued the restaurant menu and only had bare-bones choices. Very disappointing. I just took the soup bar... which was only tepid and left alot to be desired. My husband had an OK sandwich, but it was so different from the experience I had previously.though. Also, the server never introduced himself, wasn't personable at all, and you could hardly understand him. The breakfast was very good, very substantial. The grounds also seemed to be neglected. The weeds around the building were huge. If this is the direction the motel is going, I will find a different place to stay.

    3
    « Just average »

The hotel is ok. It was a decent room for a decent price with a refrigerator. The breakfast was good. Pool and hot tub decent. The sink in the bathroom drained slowly. The staff is terrible. One staff member literally told me there is "nothing to do" in the area (I like to ask the locals what they recommend in case I missed something in my research). Another one had no idea where restaurants or anything was, not even the general direction nor could she offer brochures. Thankfully, the place has free internet so we could find directions and addresses ourselves and get where we wanted to go!

« Excellent Service and a nice place to stay »

The hotel is older and rates were excellent. Service was very good as we had trouble with the TV and the lady from the desk came to our room and fixed the problem for us. Breakfast was typical BW faire.

« Tired and lacks maintenance procedures. »

Peeling caulk, boring paint colors and low wattage light bulbs pretty much define this property. The shower drain seemed to run a bit slow as well. They also really messed up with our banquet meal and under prepared food quantities - not good. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable with four pillows provided. The AC worked as it should. The provided breakfast was presented well and the hot items were hot. The close proximity to ORV trails makes this an ideal location for this type of activity and there is even a gas station adjoining the parking lot so unlicensed vehicles can still get fuel without going out on the public roads.

« Service problems and high management »

I stayed here for my high school reunion, as did several other classmates. Our reunion dinner was in one of the conference rooms, and the place was packed with motorcycle riders. The room was not ready when we arrived, although it was an hour past the check in time. The service was not particularly helpful or friendly. The room itself was nice, a renovated king suite. It was a nicer room than I wanted and overpriced for the local area. It was quiet, at the end of the hall, despite the large number of motorcycles. However, the breakfast was very poor quality and served on styrofoam plates and cups. This is so very bad for the environment. I have stayed at worse hotels and many hotels around the world, but this is the only time I have eaten on styrofoam in the past few years. The food and service at the reunion dinner were abominable. The young man assigned to go the bar downstairs and get our drinks just stood around and was very slow when he did go. We had to be out of the room at 9 PM!!!! And the food...well, the pork was incredibly over done. The chicken did not look very good, the green beans were way overcooked. The mashed potatoes came from a box, it seemed. The best part was the salad, the very plain salad. The beverages never arrived. The food ran out before everyone was served, and it was 20 minutes before more food. We took a poll and resolved never, ever to have our reunion at this place again....and all of us staying at the Arrowhead resolved to find a different place to stay next time we are in Black River Falls.

    « New management problems »

When I made the reservation the clerk did not register it. The room was not cleaned up from the previous guest. They were flying US Flags that were shredded. I was there with a group and had a buffet dinner that they ran out of food and took over two hours to serve everyone. Good location for site seeing.

    « Can't handle groups »

I stayed at the Arrowhead Best Western as part of a group of about 125 motorcycle riders. We made arrangements with the hotel FAR in advance and that included two group buffet dinners. Things were so-so on the first night. The only real downer was that the pasta was cooked into paste. There was a ash bar [that we had asked for] and the bartender was a little surly but that was apparently because she wasn't ready on time. The second night the catering staff screwed up royally! We had the same size crowd and they came up about 20% short on food. It took them almost and hour to come up wait more food and it wasn't the same menu that the first part of our crowd got. The manager offered us one free drink each but by that time they were out of beer [our crowd is pretty basic and beer is the preferred drink]. The rooms were generally OK but be advised that if you get assigned to a room on the lower level there is sort of a "bunker feel" to them. The hotel is built into the side of a hill and in our mini suite the living room was small with a low ceiling and no windows. The room wasn't bad, you just need to have the right expectations. A couple of other things... It seems that there has been some shift in management and there is some work going on. The hotel is VERY spread out and the only ice machine was about as far from our room as possible. There were places for other ice machines, just no machines. Also, there was no security on the outside door to our wing. The card reader was broken for all the time we were there and the door didn't latch. Just lots of small disappointments.

« ATV trip to Black River Falls »

We try to take at least one trip to Black River Falls for ATV trip per year. We love the area and the trails. The Best Western Arrowhead Lodge is so convenient, as it is right on the trail head. Plus gas and other food places are right there. You never have to leave, once you arrive.

« Still a good place to stay »

We have stayed at this Inn many times. We have always had a good experience when we did. Our last stay was a little tarnished by the fact that there was a motorcycle rally and a class reunion along with the usually Saturday night crowd. It completely slowed down the dining room and lounge. I'm sure that neither of these events "just happened" at the spur of the moment. The management of the Inn should have geared up for these events and been better prepared. Also, the Inn is removing their wonderful dinner menu and going to a pub menu I understand. I feel this is a mistake. Time will tell.

    « BW »

This stay was better than the last. We at least had a shower that drained, the breakfast is your standard continental, no so great. We left and went to Perkins instead. There is always a very very long wait for the waffle machine.....

    « Banquet room »

Class of 1971 reserved a room fora class reunion. The food was ok, not great and ran out and took forever to get more. The room itself was fine but if you looked over the balcony and the area above the coffee service was very dirty. Broken light fixtures were lying on the top of the area above the front desk. Needs some TLC. I did not stay in the hotel, was just in the banquet room.

    « Cranberry Fest »

We have been staying at the Best Western (a.k.a.Orange Moose) for at least the past 10 years. We come every year for Cranfest. They have the best waffles in the morning. It's a tradition to stay here and we make our reservations for the following year before we check out.

« Nice lounge, friendly staff BUT rooms need work »

The hotel has a great staff that go out of their way to make you stay pleasurable. Ate at the restaurant, shrimp was good, bar pleasant. BUT the rooms are drab, shabby, strangely shaped and tiny. We had a queen bed and there was hardly any room between the furniture and the bed. Needs major update, furniture looks like it is left over from the 1980s. In a few more years it will probably be retro. Could be a nice hotel if renovated. Spend 60+ nights in hotels on business and normally find Best Western brand to be nice hotels, not this one way way way overpriced. We were charged $149.00 + tax for room that should have been $59.00. Will not be staying again

    « A pokemon go review :) Star added. »

So, I live here now and have found myself spending more time than is usual in this hotel's parking lot (I drive slow and try not to bother anyone! Honest!). So I thought I should give back and update my review. First - the security concern with outside doors seems to have been solved. That's actually why I added the star. But more importantly, the hotel is surrounded by pokestops which, after several disappointing trips for work and vacation, it turns out is not something all hotels have. The big orange moose, leaping buck, nature trail opposite the hotel, little orange moose, lodge decor, and culturally insensitive art are all stops. There are two more at the campground nextdoor. Spawns are decent around the oasis. The hotel actually has the best ones at the little decks by the pond - but since those feel a little trespassy as a non-guest I've only gone down there to catch the occasional dratini. If you or you + the fam play pokemon go it'll make this an even better place to stay.

    « Wedding Weekend »

We stayed he for my brother-in-law's wedding. The room was a good size for my husband, three kids and me. It did however have a musty smell. Breakfast was pretty good, but our room service was greasy.

« Wonderful staff and hotel! »

We booked through the Expedia app and paid for the room, but when we arrived they didn't have any rooms. Apparently Expedia was over booking the hotel, but luckily the wonderful manager Mandy and desk clerk Alex took care of us! They did some juggling and got us a room and even upgraded us for no additional charge! Love the service here!!

    « Never again »

First room smelled like Pickles, air conditioner so loud couldn't hear TV even with volume at full. Hallways smelled strong of air freshener, extremely nauseating. Second room, a suite, had hair on the bathroom floor, some stuck to the dried urine on floor. Shower curtain sour smelling with red mold on the bottom. Dirty sink with unknown substance in sink drain, dirty ice bucket/no bag, TV did not work in bedroom. The red Moose statue out front was nice, what I didn't know was the red on the Moose was a warning not to stay here.

    « Fun Weekend »

Quiet big, hotel room and nice staff. Could use a paddle boat to go around pond outside. Okay breakfast, only one waffle maker so many people were standing in line and the toaster was broken. Room was very big where they had breakfast and plenty of seating. Close to 4 wheeler trail and mini golf course we went too. Had a pool that was small, but our kids still had fun.

« Clean but small room »

The room was nice and clean but not spacious. everything was in working order and the staff were extremely nice. Breakfast had eggs, sausage, waffles etc. would stay again. The grounds are beautiful. The icemaker was quite a ways from our room, and the elevator was also far away. I would ask for first floor next time.

    « VERY POOR EXPERIENCE »

Plastic plates and cutlery at breakfast. Poor room service, one day bed not made just pulled across. Poor service at reception and a reluctance to resolve a problem. Night staff much more helpful. One a positive note the main barman was great, one of the best G&T's I have had.

    « Nice staff »

Enjoyed our stay at this beautiful part of Wisconsin. Great staff who were willing to go the extra mile. The breakfast was good and the restruant had a wonderful menu selection and great food; especially the salad bar! We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful part of Wisconsin. The staff were very nice! The breakfast was good. The pool was great!

    « Average Hotel »

Suite isn't worth the extra $, tub/shower wouldn't drain, so your standing in dirty water and it almost overflowed after two of us took a shower. Stayed here one other time and thought it would be nicer if we got the suite. It's not, it's just a place to lay your head, nothing special.

    1
    « Major run-around »

My biggest regret is that there is not a "0" rating. I booked 4 rooms for my group of fishermen heading to Canada using Hotels.com. Everything went wrong with the hotels.com booking and I ended up getting stuck for paying for one of the rooms 2 times. A review of the documentation on the receipt showed inaccuracies that made tracing the details not possible. I got good cooperation from the manager at this hotel in trying to get a refund, but that was after screwing things up to start with. This is the 3rd year (or it could be 4th) a group of us have stayed here. We had problems the year before, but not to the same extent. But, one thing is consistent... the food is OK in the restaurant but the service is always mediocre. My recommendation... find another place to stay.

An older hotel/motel down the road. Reception employees okay and fast, the rooms we had where too small for 2016. Low roof so very hot night in the summer, airco was too noise to let it run trough the night. Small bathroom. Had to take the stairs up with the luggage, not nice in the warm days.

We've stayed here two years in a row driving from MN to OH. It's a great place. The people are nice, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious. I highly recommend it! We ate in the hotel restaurant both years. It's plain hotel food, nothing fancy. The kids enjoyed their wings and I had a good hamburger. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but worth it not to have to go anywhere.

    « Unpleasant experience »

We stayed at this hotel as a family of 4 on a long drive home from a trip in Canada. We intended it only as a spot to get a quick night's sleep before hitting the road in the morning. We made a reservation online as we drove, had no problems and got a great rate. That's where the good experience ended. Check in was fine. Not friendly but quick and efficient. Our room was down a long, long hall and ended up being right across from the ice/vending area. The machines in there were insanely loud. We could hear them through the door but they were drowned out by the even louder AC unit (which blows up into the curtains not allowing you to have a cool room AND darkness). Regardless, we just wanted to wash up and rest. The bathroom was clean. The beds, however were awful. The comforter on one of the beds was stained all over with goodness only knows what (yellow stains). The other bed was covered in what appeared to be blood spots - on the comforter, pillows, etc. We stripped the beds and slept in our sleeping bags that were thankfully in the car. Reports to the front desk of this situation were met with mild apologies but not much else. We got up early and thought we'd grab a quick bite at the provided breakfast. And while this isn't the fault of the staff, other guests were serving themselves with their bare hands rather than the provided utensils. So, we just bailed out and got some food on the road. Didn't expect the four seasons but was hoping for a clean, quiet place. Wouldn't return.

« Enjoyed our short stay »

Large party in restaurant totally overwhelmed kitchen. I ordered a sandwich and husband had a bowl of soup from the buffet so he got his right away, but I waited an hour for the sandwich - finally gave up. Waitress was very apologetic and understanding - not her fault. Didn't charge for the soup.

« Like the Best Western a lot. »

Loved the charm of this Lodge and the overall area. The value you get for the price is outstanding. While the hotel may appear to be a little dated, the rooms and amenities were very accommodating. Did not try the free breakfast. Walked through and it appeared to be the usual complimentary fare breakfast items. Had a few minor issues with the room but did not follow up since we were there only one night.

« Ecellent Place to Stay Even While Remodeling »

Hotel is remodeling rooms and hallways by painting and changing the carpeting. They have improved the lighting even while going energy efficient. We had a quite restful nights sleep and the value was great compared to staying in the Wisconsin Dells. If your family wants water slides stay here and go to the water slide and go-cart amusement park a way better value and deal. Staff is friendly and this hotel overall is a great place to stay.

    « A great "One Stop" destination »

The title states that this is a one stop destination. There is everything and anything you need for a short (or long) stay at this Inn. They have a great restaurant and lounge, laundry mat on premises. There is a gas station next door and even a Perkins pancake house next door along with a taco John's etc. Also a cheese and ice cream place. Did I mention that it is located at the trailhead of the Wisconsin Stated ATV trail? My wife and I had the Prime Rib special and it was excellent. The entire menu looked great and pricing is reasonable. I would definitely recommend this Inn.

    « NIce comfy hotel »

The room was larger than what we expected and was clean. We asked for a first floor room due to a recent ankle sprain, but what I didn't know is they also have rooms at the ground level, so when we parked I still had stairs to climb. When we checked in there were several other people checking in, but we didn't hear a peep out of anyone and had a relaxing stay. I just wanted to mention that in a nearby room there was a couple in around their 50's that after they left they left the room door wide open, showing how big of slobs they are. Just because you don't have to clean the room afterwards doesn't mean you should leave the place a mess! It makes housekeeping spend needless time cleaning up after you, which may mean the next time you want to check in early your room might not be ready. Be and act like a responsible adult!!!

« Worst Hotel Experience Ever! »

We arrived at check-in time and our room still wasn't cleaned. The lady told us it would be about 15 minutes, and 45 minutes later, we still didn't have a room, even though we needed it to get ready for a wedding. I ended up doing my makeup in the lobby with a bunch of people there and even flies flying around, and then changing in the car. We finally got our key card when we came back, and excited to relax, we opened the door to our king "suite", which was the furthest thing from a suite I've ever seen. The entry room was smelly and the love seat was musty smelling! That doesn't seem clean to me! I paid nearly $160 for this crap room. Breakfast was meh; there were some options, but nothing that tasted good; everything was pretty bland, and the syrup for the waffles was all over the dispenser, which wasn't pleasant. At check out we complained about the late check-in, not getting our room when they said it was ready, the smelly room, and the breakfast. The lady took note about our complaint and said the manager would get a hold of me and try to work something out. However, I still haven't heard a word from anyone. I shouldn't have to be the one to initiate a complaint to a FOURTH person there. I'm a very reasonable and understanding person, but when I mention the poor service for a $160 room to several people and still don't hear back from anyone, that's totally unacceptable. Overall, it was a horrible hotel experience and definitely not worth the price!! No one should stay at Best Western.

« Still an amazing place »

Been here 4 or 5 times and still love pulling into the parking lot. Just a one night stay while heading up to north Wisconsin but had a great room and a great meal in their restaurant/bar. Very scenic and peaceful location.

    « Not good! »

I am not sure why everyone likes this place. We got to our room and it smelled bad. Very musty. The room needed lots of work. Then the next morning after our showers, I asked my husband if he left a towel hanging on the bathroom door. He said no. It must have been a dirty towel from a previous guest. Won't be back again!

    2
« Worst Western maybe a better way to explain the staff. »

To start with, we normally don't stay at Best Western hotels. Nothing against them, just have a preference for other chains. We were here for a wedding and booked with the wedding group. When I made the reservations on the phone I made it clear that my wife was disabled and that we were traveling with a service dog. We called the morning of checkin to see if we could get any upgrades to the room as we saw a whirlpool suite in the site we are willing to pay extra for. The person who answered the phone was really rude to us and said because we booked the group rate we couldn't change. I've NEVER heard of a hotel turning down extra revenue! Got there to check in and waited some time. Neither my note regarding my wife's disability nor the service dog were in the reservation. The service dog wasn't a big deal and handled without any hassle. However we were placed on a second floor significantly far from an elevator. There are only two elevators in the building and only one capable of holding a luggage cart. It literally took me 45 minutes to navigate the cart through the hotel to our room and get the luggage unloaded. Bad design. The room itself looked clean enough, but bad design. No way to lay in bed and watch TV comfortably without laying on your side. The bed seemed to be comfortable enough. Not sure how well our drain worked in the tub, but it held water, so that's good. The fact that the "We don't want to wash sheets as often to save energy" placard was stained is disconcerting. I wonder what a UV light on the sheets would reveal? Night after the wedding my wife and I go down to the hot tub to relax and had plenty of time left. The gentlemen working the night shift proceeded to treat us like middle schoolers and give us ten and five minute countdowns and ultimately ask us to leave the pool area WHILE IT WAS OBVIOUS WE WERE DRYING OFF. Now onto the "breakfast buffet." We were in the buffet area finishing our breakfast around 9:45 and one of the staff literally walked by while my wife had food in her hand and asked us to leave. I get that the restaurant opened at 11, but we were doing absolutely no harm here and it was obvious we were wrapping up. Finally we had to call three people to ask for a late checkout. This seems stupid, the whole point of a late checkout IS SO YOU CAN SLEEP IN. The outside of the hotel needs some maintenance as there is peeling paint. There were also several pieces of extra furniture and other accessories in the hallway. Not exactly a great presentation. See my review for the on-site restaurant, you're best off skipping it. That being said the WiFi worked well and the Maids were very cordial. Overall we weren't impressed for what we paid. We stayed at a much nicer hotel on our way home for almost 1/2 the price. I can't say I'll try another Best Western after this.

« We were on an ATV trip and wanted to be close to the trails. This was convenient, economical and well worth it. »

You can literally park and unload your ATVs and start your ATV trip at the edge of the parking lot. The hotel has maps for the state park that is adjacent to the hotel. The desk staff is very helpful answering questions about the trails. The rooms have recently been painted and the carpet replaced (still smells of new carpet). The beds are comfortable and clean. There is free WIFI and free breakfast in the mornings. There is a gas station located next door in case you need gas for your ATV. I pity the maids who had to clean our room because even though we were careful, we still managed to get dust all over from our clothes. We booked our trip through Expedia but found out when we checked in the room actually would have been cheaper through the hotel. The room temp was within our control and the constant fan noise provided the white noise I love. Still a great find.

Had a bad experience at a hotel in the sane area, so I called Best Western. Best Western expressed how sorry they were about how poorly I was treated at the other hotel. They offered me a room at their hotel at discount. (They did not have to be so generous, my bad experience wasn't their fault.) Best Westerns rooms were very clean and comfortable. They have a restaurant in the hotel that is VERY GOOD and affordable. Great experience and people. Thank you Best Western

« Good nights sleep despite full house »

We normally stay here at Christmas when there are fewer people. So was pleasantly surprised that second floor in south wing was relatively quiet despite the hotel being pretty full with ATVers and motorcyclists here for nearby event. Beds were comfortable. We stay here primarily because of microwave/refrigerator. I think the rooms were remodeled last year since microwave/refrigerator are now located in a nook that previously had a second sink vanity area. We appreciate the new quieter refrigerators. With mobility problems we needed the "elevator" which is a small noisy hand operated lift in the lobby. However it worked ok and no one else seemed be using it, so normally it was waiting on the floor where we left it. Breakfast is usual: make your own waffle, small pastries, hot dish (eggs and sausage when we were there) dried cereal, small yogurts, apples, oranges, juice, milk, ok coffee and tea. Sat/Sun am with many people the restaurant area was available for seating so we could breakfast looking out at the lake rather than in the noisy (tv) breakfast area. If you want better coffee, there is the Mocha Mouse next door .

Nice convenient stay. Right off the interstate. They have done quite a few updates since my stay last year. Rooms are nice, everything worked like it should. « Not As Pleasant As Our Last Visit »

I have to downgrade my previous rating. We were there on a Saturday night. That may have made the difference. It was very busy. We got a room on first floor (111) as I am in a cast and am using a wheelchair. While it was nice to have a first floor room right by Entrance 3, this did not turn out to be a good choice. We were near the bar and restaurant and the weight room was right next door. There was noise in the hall all night. I got very little sleep. The bathroom door was very narrow. I was unable to get my wheelchair in. Even with my walker wedged sideways, it was a struggle to get in. Needless to say, I only used the bathroom for toileting. The door was too narrow for any people, even able-bodied. The room, itself, was crowded with furniture. It did not lend to relaxation. Their breakfast room is in the restaurant. We didn't expect much and it lived up to its reputation. There must have been a large group or two there that night as many people came to breakfast even at 0600. It was crowded. We did appreciate that there was a restaurant open in the hotel. We were satisfied with the meal we ordered.

« Solid, dependable option for a weekend scuba trip. »

I booked a room at the hotel because it is conveniently located to Wazee Lake for scuba diving. The room was immaculately clean, the bed and pillows were quite comfortable, the bathroom was roomy and the shower water pressure was good, and I was very happy to see a mini-fridge. Staff members were attentive and polite throughout our stay. I'm very, very pleased with the value for the money and plan to return on future trips to the area.

    « Okay »

We traveled from Indiana to Washington & Oregon and back. This place was unique, and it provided a place to lay our weary heads. However, for the money we paid, it was the most dated and the most money out of pocket. To be fair, they are doing some updating. The AC was cold and the shower was strong and hot! Pillows were perfect, but hopefully they will get new mattresses. Under the circumstances, I couldn't give more than a 3 out of 5 at this time.

« Not Worth the Rate Paid - Outdated - Service Lacked »

Stopped here on the way home from a Boundary Waters fishing trip. The rate was better than most other big hotel chains in the nearby towns but it was way over-priced for the condition of the hotel. We had a ground level room that smelled musty, the bathroom had the moldy smell to it, it was just not worth $120 a night for the room we got. Had I paid $90 then maybe but I've done a lot better for $120 a night than this. We checked in at Mid-Night and the front desk clerk could not find our reservation and the entire check in process was very complicated for her. We went to breakfast on Sunday morning with 45 minutes to spare before it closed down and there were multiple items they ran out of (OJ, Breads, etc). Overall I would say this place has been "over-rated". The bed and the room was clean for the most part and I typically like BW, but I would not recommend this BW to family or friends. Also the showers and toilets from nearby rooms were noisy.

No complaints whatsoever. We were astounded by the low nightly rate for a hotel comparable to surrounding hotels nearby that were literally $75 higher per night. The staff were great. The complimentary breakfast was comparable to or better than most. And you just can't beat an orange moose as a welcoming party!

« A great place that has everything you need »

We have stayed at this Inn before. It is consistently a good place to stay. Always clean, always friendly, and always reasonable. The Inn is very up to date with electronics as well. Good TV and internet. We were just traveling through but I did notice that there was even a small laundry mat on the premises. Convenient for the people that are using the State ATV trails. A great restaurant with an extensive menu. A nice cocktail lounge and a cheese shop next door. (Hey! you ARE in Wisconsin) Fuel stations very nearby. We had a great stay. I highly recommend this place.

« Old Fashioned Wisconsin Holiday »

Even though the sign says Best Western, the place could just as easily be called the Orange Moose. It may be clean and commercial, but it has a wonderful charm to it. The check-in is warm and personal. Our room was big but sort of funky shaped. Everything was very clean. The restaurant was good and the free breakfast was sumptuous. The grounds and the lake give it a resort feel.

    « Great location. Friendly...Needs a little TLC »

Rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was ok..eggs...some sort of meat, and the usual dry cereals, coffes, and juices. Saves a few bucks versus eating out. The hot tub was broke, which would have been a nice thing to sit in after riding all day, but.....Also, people complained about the ice machines, but people were also filling up their coolers with it. It is not meant for that. I HAVE A SUGGESTION. Install an ice machine and sell bags of ice. Could be a moneymaker. The restaurant was welcome addition, and along with the bar was well used. I would stay there again. Also, has a big pond for kids to fish in along with a few paddleboats. The only negatives, carpet needs updating, and our ac worked barely at best.

« Decent hotel, one major complaint »

It's a fine hotel - exactly what you'd expect at this price point and hotel brand. Everything was clean and serviceable. Staff was friendly and the wi-fi was fast. Free breakfast was standard free hot breakfast for this type of property, no complaints and saved me a trip in the morning. I've stayed here twice now, one on each side of the hotel. Both of the side doors I've used haven't been secured. They have card swipers but are unlocked so anyone can come and go. As a woman traveling alone this freaks me out and knocked off a star. Maybe this will get fixed as they continue to remodel? I hope so. I know my room is secure, yada yada yada, it just doesn't feel great, especially as the property is just off the interstate.

    « Immediate Unwind -- »

Always plan to stay two nights -- Black River Falls is a sleeper of a town, and the Arrowhead is the place to relax, and enjoy it -- not far from anything you need, and close to many things you never knew you wanted, like a copy of a 1963 Look magazine, home-grown honey, or an a polar plunge in the deepest lake in Wisconsin. The town has an Upnorth atmosphere -- fun funky taverns, lots of good junk shops -- and very hospitable population -- everybody is helpful. As for the Arrowhead, always clean and comfortable -- and over the winter, made some nice improvements to the rooms. Having a jolly bar on site, as well as terrific food is a huge plus, and the service is just outstanding. Last but not least, this facility has more of a resort than hotel ambiance, adjacent to endless forest, the back-woods is just round' back!

Great place to stay! Rooms were very clean, beds were extremely comfortable. We have stayed here in past years. We going on 4-wheeling trips with friends. It's a plus you can get on the trails right from the hotel parking lot. The bar and restaurant have great service and the food is wonderful.

« Stopped for one night during our travel from Chicago to Minnesota »

The hotel looks very nice on the outside. The front desk gentleman was pleasant as was the nice lady who tended to the continental breakfast area. The lobby looked nice but our room was very small, dirty carpet and the bathroom was filthy. It appeared they tried to paint over some mold. I used the shower in the morning and noticed a lot of hair in the drain. The mattress was very "used" and in dire need of a replacement. The rates were a bit too high for the condition of the room. The continental breakfast was not impressive. We just had cereal and weak coffee.

    « I love this place! »

From the clerk at the front desk to the waitresses in the restaurant - everyone is nice, friendly and helpful. Dining in the restaurant is always enjoyable and the food is delicious! Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

    « Sunday night stay »

It seems a lot of Best Westerns are remodeling carpets lately very nice on the bare feet. We stayed in a King bed room nice & spacious everything worked. We had a nice corner spot the vending & ice machine was almost across from us. Nice pool & hot tub; we made use of it the last hour of the night nobody else was in it so we had it to ourselves that was nice. The bed was comfortable to me. It was nice the drapes closed completely to darken the room to sleep in late. Noise level wasn't too bad in the hallways. The shower was great nice forceful stream. Nice to have a fridge to keep cold water in it or whatever leftovers we had from their restaurant. The heater worked very nicely or as my boyfriend would say it blasted him out lol. We would definitely come back here

Friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant on site. Rooms have refrigerator, microwave and wet bar. Location is close to the interstate. Just down the road from the casino. Very close to a WalMart Super Center. Had it not been for the remodeling, I would have given it an excellent.

« One stop has all »

Very nice hotel. Even though it is old it is very well kept and clean with modern updates. Restaurant is very good and the lounge is well stocked! Gas station and a coffee shop located across the street make this a very convenient place to stay.

« Great Breakfast, newly remodeled »

We were just passing through and didn't have reservations. Staff was very helpful and the room was large and comfortable at a fair price. The hot breakfast was amazing! For our family of 7 it was nice to have that included. The kids enjoyed the pool. Parts of the hotel were getting new carpet and the entrance outside was getting remodeled. When it is done I'm sure it will be even better.

    « Very nice »

We were just here for the night on business. Had a very comfortable room, enjoyed the bar and a late supper. There were several families having fun in the large pool & hot tub. In the morning we went down for a delicious buffet breakfast. I noticed you could sit out by a small lake that had paddle boats. Certainly worth the value.

    « Economical and nice .. »

We stayed here on our recent road trip. The room was very clean and updated but small. The hotel was in the process of a remodel. The staff was amazing. Great budget friendly option. There is a bar and restaurant on site.

    « Wouldn't stay anywhere else!! »

We always stay here when we are visiting family. The staff is great & they go out of their way for you. The hotel is always clean. The rooms are very comfortable. The bar/lounge area is very nice and the food in the restaurant is very good. The breakfast buffet is good as well. There is a pool which my grandkids love. We'll be back in June!

    « Nice Hotel »

I am a truck driver and stay at this hotel on a weekly basis. The hotel is a nice place to stay with very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel offers a restraint and lounge area with great food. I would recommend this hotel to others.

    « Fun »

We stayed at the Best Western in Blackriver Falls due to a family visit. We have stayed here before and have always had a good experience. Beds are comfortable and the staff in the Lounge area, and at check in are all pleasant and fun. Pool area looks inviting. Will check that out next time.

« Not up to standards »

Was not up to standards we would normally like to see. It was most disappointing to see that the morning staff were not welcoming to us (exception of the food service person). The dirty conditions and the use of loud construction was very odd.

« Great Place to Stay »

We came across the BEST WESTERN Arrowhead Lodge & Suites when we were looking for a getaway near a casino and Tomah. Got a very reasonable discounted rate for a three star hotel. Property is well kept and is in the midst of renovation. Room was spacious and clean with fridge and microwave and comfortable furniture. Restaurant and bar on site with good food and not overly priced drinks. Ryan, Vicki, and Ash were especially nice.Took very good care of us and were fun to talk to. Also have a relaxing indoor pool and hot tub. Would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Nice »

Love the fact that it has a restaurant and a bar right inside the hotel. The staff was very pleasant and willing to do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. The room was very clean, but could use some more insulation to make it quieter so you can not hear as much going on in the hallways.

    5
    « Arrowhead Lodge »

We always have a good stay at the Arrowhead lodge. They do a lot of work there to keep the facility updated and modern. When a problem arises, they try very hard to correct it. We stayed at this hotel several times for family vacations. I stayed here many times on business as well.

    « Happy with Service »

Overall we had a great time. Great room, pool and whirlpool. BW is working to improve aged carpets and is dealing well with upkeep. Staffed worked well with us. It's nice to have a bar and restaurant on site to enhance relaxation and convenience. continental breakfast was also good, providing a great selection of opttions.

    « Very Nice Accomodations »

Stayed her for 4 nights for work. Didn't have to leave the hotel other than for work. Loved the Orange Moose Lounge and the bartender Ash's stories. Fitness center could use some updating though. I thought the continental breakfast was very good as well.

    « Relaxing stay »

Great service allowed us to enjoy a fantastic little get away. We had never been to this city; the front desk staff was very helpful with ideas of places that we may want to visit and area things to do. Will stay here the next time we are in the area.

« Clean and all inclusive »

The Hotel is extremely clean and has a wonderful restaurant and lounge. We had good service from the minute we checked in until the minute we checked out. There was a function in town the weekend we were at the hotel and the hotel was overrun with children. The staff did their best to control the "young guests" but in the end poor parenting won the battle and it was a little annoying to say the least. I do not fault the hotel for this at all. We have stayed at BRF before and it is usually very pleasant.

« Took a family trip to go skiing and tubing at Bruce Mound. »

I always have love staying at this hotel. They are very accommodating. This time the night manager Joel was very helpful. I will keep coming back. We took a trip to go skiing and tubing at Bruce Mound and had a fun day. Then we took a short drive to Black River Arrowhead Lodge and stayed. They provided us with a cot. We reserved a room for 4 but unexpectedly had a few more join us.

« Best Western Arrowhead Hotel/ Orange Moose »

First of all, you definitely cannot miss this place, right off of I-94 heading "up north" via western Wisconsin, the Orange Moose statue is a sight to see! Right in front of the hotel, he is quite the attraction! My husband and I spent one night here January 10. The staff could not have been nicer, accommodating and friendly. The hotel itself is comfortable, updated and very clean. This was actually our second time here, with the first time a few years back, that visit was also wonderful! The hotel has an in house restaurant, the Orange Moose Bar and Grill, where the food is good and the wait staff very good. There is a continental hot breakfast in the morning, the dining area super clean and organized and the food delicious. We definitely will return, and plan to spread the word about this wonderful place!

« totally poorly organized and not clean. »

I reviewed this years ago and thought with the newer more flattering reviews it may have changed...NOT.. This place needs total makeover and sanitizing...mold is seen and smelled in bath areas and halls. I have a serious allergy to this and could tell right away. Staff did not appear to be well trained as to what was available..in the restaurant..or in the area around this city. Do not eat here.....processed food and poor at that.Places in town are better.

« Poor Operation, Nice Facility »

Overall, this hotel is well kept and has nice ammenities. However, over a 3 night stay found it is pooorly run and disorganized. In our group did not have room ready until 8 pm. Another was checked into a room that was already occupied. Did did not receive housekeeping service on one day after being gone all day. Dined at the restaurant on 2 evenings & service was slow with order wrong one time and never came, so ate a McDonald's. Told cooking staff in a bad mood.

    « Good placeto stay »

The rooms were clean and comfortable. They were on the small side though. The staff was very friendly and professional. The Orange Moose Bar and Grill had high prices, the service was mediocre, and my food was average at best. Several of my co workers are there and were very pleased so maybe my experience was the exception, not the rule.

    « Horrible Experience »

We called over the phone & booked a handicap room 3 wks. prior to our stay. We recv'd a confirm # from the front desk & it was emailed to us. When we arrived, they gave our handicap room to a lady who booked online that didn't need a handicap room. My husband is handicapped & was in a lot of pain & just wanted to lay down. We had to wait 45 minutes for them to move lady out of our room B-4 we could go into it. We were both exhausted & very upset over this. Then we finally get into the room & it smelt very unpleasant & musty even with fan on & we both felt nauseous. There were NO accessible outlets on lamps or nightstands which we needed for our CPAP machines. It was extremely dirty behind nightstands when looking for outlets. Only found filthy dusty extension cords. We stayed here in the past & it was a lot better, so it has really went down hill since. The carpet NEEDS to be replaced. We WILL NOT stay here again. The staff did however, try to resolve this issue!

    « Overall good experience »

Let me start by saying this hotel is in a very convenient location. Right off the highway. Nice grounds. The staff was all wonderful, especially Ash in the bar area. The room was quiet and beds were comfortable. This would be a 5 star rating if our room would've been properly cleaned. There were a few issues with cleanliness that really did damper our opinion of the hotel. It was okay for the price but they definitely need to invest in higher quality cleaning to make sure guests are not distracted by the wrong things.

    « We'd definitely stay here again »

This motel is right off I-94 and easy to get to. The grounds were well maintained, lobby was clean and welcoming. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant on the premises (great food). There is also a Perkins close by and more restaurants on the other side of the Interstate. The motel is a very large, spread out 2 story building. There is an elevator, but we had to walk down a LONG hallway to get to it, and after getting to the 2nd floor, our room was at the end of another LONG hallway. Luggage carts were only in the lobby. It would be helpful to have a luggage cart by the other entrance doors that are closer to the elevator. Our room was large, clean and laid out differently than most motel rooms. There was a sink in the room as well as in the bathroom. There was a microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker. Also, there was an easy chair. Work desk was large with a comfortable desk chair. The beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was large and had nice touches such as a magnifying mirror on the wall, liquid soap & shampoo dispensers in the shower and a soap dispenser by the sink. The complimentary breakfast was in the restaurant and tasted very good. Besides the usual items, they had waffles, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage and breakfast potatoes.

    « Pleasant Stay »

When making plans to go to the annual CranFest in Warrens, WI, we realized that rooms were hard to find. Many people reserve one year in advance. I decided to look out of the area and came across this Best Western. We were pleased with our decision. The hotel has very nice property, a great restaurant and is close to the expressway. It was approx. 20 mins to Warrens. The rooms are rather small but clean. The front desk staff was so-so. We had one girl that was extremely pleasant & friendly but upon check out we had a guy that was the opposite. He was rude & argumentative when discussing our bill. He wanted to overcharge us. That was our only complaint. Would stay again.

« Not A Thing to Complain About! »

I am pretty fussy. I will complain if I feel I have been underserved in any way. This motel left me with nothing to complain about. A quiet, clean, comfortable room, reasonably priced. Friendly staff at Check-In, Check-Out, and even when we asked the house keeper what turned out to be a stupid question. The complementary morning breakfast was more complete in offerings, and GOOD, compared to standards in most places I've stayed. Just not a thing to take issue with. Really!

    « wonderful surprise »

Traveling through the area without a place to stay, the orange moose outside of this property caught our eye so we stopped to check it out and maybe have lunch. The lunch was fabulous, the bar manager was very professional and accommodating so we decided this was where we would stay for the night. It is a very clean, and comfortable place to stay and all of the employees we dealt with were superb. Thanks for a great anniversary place. Would definitely stay there again.

    « Oldie but goodie »

This is obviously an older hotel with an outdoor/Indian theme, which is fun and a little outdated. When you first turn on the water in the rooms (sink or shower), it runs brown, but then quickly clears up. However, the positive far outweigh the negatives for this hotel for me. First and foremost for me, is this is a non-smoking hotel. They take this seriously and if someone has been caught smoking in the rooms, not only are they subject to fines, but the great effort is made to remove the cigarette smoke odor (maybe a little too aggressively as the room smells like you have stepped into a baby powder bottle). Next is the in-house restaurant, the Orange Moose, which provides a good range of food very conveniently. Speaking of convenient, the hotel is right beside the interstate for very easy access. The grounds are beautiful with lots of walking space and activities.

    5
« Nice place great value »

We enjoyed our stay and found the room clean and comfortable. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful and the hot breakfast was very good! Everything we needed for a reasonable price. We will choose this hotel again.

« One of the best cared for hotels I've ever stayed at. »

This hotel is conveniently located just off I-94. It's got an 'arrow' theme starting at the entrance where the overhang is supported by giant arrows. The lobby is appropriate for the area, a log cabin feel with a fireplace for the winter and a seating area to cozy up to when you're out on the trails in the winter. The restaurant/grill is located right off the lobby and I have a separate review for "The Orange Moose Bar & Grill". When I came in at 7 pm on a Thursday night there was a sign on the desk stating that the reservationist would be back in a minute and she was. She apologized for keeping me waiting, she was helping a guest in another part of the hotel and she was the only one on duty. She was very friendly and I wish I could remember her name. It was October 22 so whoever was on duty that night is well worth keeping around. She was juggling guests at the front desk and the phone ringing and never lost her composure. We got a room on the second floor overlooking the lake. The lake is between the hotel and the highway so this meant we had the potential for highway noise however the hotel is far enough away that it's just a background hum. The little lake is man-made and very nice with a little deck area that was lit up with a table out there to enjoy on a warm evening. The hotel was very clean. The room had a safe, closet area, ironing board, iron, mini refrigerator, microwave, tv, desk, and a comfortable chair along with the two queen beds. It was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The beds were comfortable with lots of big fluffy pillows and we slept well. The bathroom was large and had a light up magnifying makeup/shaving mirror, hair dryer, and the hand soap was mounted in a dispenser on the wall. I appreciated that as I hate the bar soap you usually get in hotel rooms. They also had the dispenser for the shower gel and shampoo in the shower. The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. Most importantly the free wifi was fast and reliable. Overall I would definitely stay here again and recommend others to as well. I've stayed in more costly hotels that weren't up to these standards.

    4
    « Reliable Hotel »

This is the third time we have stayed at this Best Western hotel over the past 4 years and we have had positive experiences all 3 times. The room are spacious and comfortable. We like the fact that this property has a restaurant and lounge. The included breakfast is a definite plus to most other hotels. The rates are also quite reasonable. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

    5
« Good for a quick stop on a road trip! »

My fiancé and I stopped as we were driving through. Quiet comfortable and clean. Great breakfast offered-I always love seeing biscuits and gravy at breakfast. We would stay again if passing through again! Make sure that you take a picture with the moose!

    4
    « Comfortable Stay »

Unique hotel right off 94. My room was a slightly different configuration from the ordinary hotel room. It was comfortable, quiet, and just what was needed for a stop on my trip. The restaurant on site is only open for lunch and dinner but there is a Perkins across the pond on the property if you are wanting something other than the continental breakfast offered.

    3
« Decent hotel next to highway exit »

My first thoughts on this hotel were pretty negative based on age and very outdated décor, but I admit the stay wasn't bad at all. The entire property needs some a major cosmetic update, but the positives outweigh that. The hotel is conveniently located right off the highway, has it's own restaurant and bar, is near trails, and just a short drive/walk to downtown Black River Falls. I choose this one because it was pet friendly and it was great for that need. There is a lot of room to walk around, including a large lake that the hotel cups. The Orange Moose, the on-site restaurant was serviceable and is a pretty good on-site option for dining and drinks.

    5
    « A great place to stay »

We were just passing through Black River Falls. We loved this hotel as it is a "one stop" place for all of your needs. They even have a small laundry mat on the premises. That makes sense as we noticed a lot of ATV's on trailers in the parking lot. It is our understanding that they are at the trailhead of the Wisconsin State Trail. The food was delicious, the room was extremely clean, and the lounge was very pleasant. Gasoline, and a fudge shop are just next door. The morning breakfast (included with the room) was very good. The eggs, sausage, and potatoes were great. There was so much that I would run out of space trying to include everything available. People were friendly as you would expect in Northern Wisconsin. A great place to stay.

    « Checking in »

We were there 35 minutes early to check in and was told you cannot check in until 3:00 and she was rude about it. She could of said I am sorry our policy is you cannot check in until 3:00. Another customer came in 10 minutes later and was pulling his luggage and carrying shirts on hangers and also had a medical boot on and was also told you cannot check in until 3:00. We wanted to get into our room and change our clothes so we could go ATV riding.

« Hotel fine dont eat food. »

We have stayed at this hotel before and I will say the outside appearance is much worse than the inside appearance. What ever you do do not eat at the Hotel restaurant. The food was cold, took an hour to get and the help is not to willing to remedy any problems. As far as the rooms go they are roomy and comfortable.
