"Amazing Staff, Nice Hotel."
stephaniemarie263, 03 Août 2018

Stayed here while we were passing though France and it was perfect for what we needed. The hotel staff were super accommodating, went above and beyond and were honestly better than higher end hotels we've stayed in. The room was comfortable, great location and perfect for staying in while exploring Biarritz.

"Very good hotel in every aspect"
B1714D, 31 Juillet 2018

There's nothing wrong I can say about this hotel, but only recommendations. Location - it was perfect for us, as it was just across the local bus stop where we got off our bus from San Sebastian. It's not in the very center, but in a residential area, some 10 min walk downhill to town center. A big Carrefour supermarket is across the street and several restaurants around. Hotel - very nice reception with pleasant staff. Rooms looked pretty new, well carpeted with everything you might need. Little bit small, but OK for a couple. Fairly sized pool in the backyard, nice dip option. Wifi worked great. Didn't have breakfast so cannot comment it. Beware that Biarritz is a pretty expensive destination, so getting such a branded hotel could cost you. We managed to get it on promotion for around 90 Euros/night which is a great deal, so look for it.

"Nice base for exploring Biarritz "
Mavs801, 24 Juillet 2018

As other reviews have stated, the rooms are on the snug side. 4 of us stayed here and we had an adjoining door which did sort of give and illusion of more space, but there really is not a lot of space in the room at all once you factor in people and cases. On saying that, the rooms were clean and modern and had a kettle and coffee maker. The hotel provide water daily too. There is soap, body lotion and body wash in the bathroom. We had rooms 302 and 304 which are at the front of the hotel overlooking the roundabout. We had a small balcony, barely a meter wide. The junction is quite busy so if the door is open, or if you are sat by the pool, you can hear the traffic. Pool was pleasant, with a large area with chairs and loungers. All the staff were lovely and very helpful, and spoke English which made everything a lot easier. The town in around 10mins walk downhill. There is a supermarket opposite with is well equipped and seemed all guests made good use of. A pleasant and inexpensive stay in a pricey area.

"Comfortable,friendly hotel"
mary n, 22 Juillet 2018

I stayed in this hotel for three nights recently.I came with a friend. The room was bright and modern and very comfortable.Although the shower area was small it was fine for a short time.A welcome touch was tea-making facilities and the provision of towels when using the outdoor pool.I liked the pool.It was large and surrounded by a pleasant grassy area.Breakfast was good, especially for me as a diabetic.I had no problems finding healthy food. There was a variety of cereals and breads. It took about 10 minutes to go down to the town centre. On the way were shops and restaurants to keep your interest.Coming back up was good exercise! I would use this hotel again.

"A great location"
angelPreston, 21 Juillet 2018

The hotel is situated a little outside the center but that makes it a good location as it was easy to find and we could park the car in the basement car park. The staff were great and very friendly. They spoke very good English and this was a bonus for us as our french is very limited. The room was quite, snug and very modern. We used the swimming pool as it was clean. There was a bit of noise from the road side.

"JUST ABOUT"
Arlene R, 17 Juillet 2018

We spent here one night on our way to San Sebastian. The room was so tiny the 2 beds fitted in just about. So once we opened our suitcases, we had to jump over them to make it to the bathroom. The shower was so narrow and slippery it is a miracle we are still alive. The bathroom itself was so tiny. There was only one hook to hang on the towel and the towel heater. We had 4 towels so... The shower screen went up to the ceiling so the steam could not escape. The beds were comfy, rather soft and the duvets in mid July not ideal. The pillows were enormous. Since the room was facing a busy round about we could not open the window at night and the room was too hot to sleep. Suggest if you are planning to go you ask for a room facing the swimming pool.

"Beautiful Biarritz"
Mark P, 15 Juillet 2018

This is a genuine 3 star hotel about a 10 minute walk down hill to the main part of town and beach. Nothing fancy about the rooms, but they are clean and functional. The bathroom and shower are on the small side but ok for a short stay. I would rate it as fair value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful and also speak a number of languages. Breakfast is great and they have a good size pool to enjoy. Parking was 12 Euros per day which is reasonable. There is a little supermarket close by and a meal on the beach at any of the fine restaurants, watching the sunset, is an experience not to be missed. You will be surprised at how inexpensive it is to eat at the best locations on the beach.

"Decent hotel, but"
hollandNorthDevon, 29 Juin 2018

not sure how this hotel got rated Plus by Best Western. Nothing to complain about. The staff were very pleasant, the breakfast good, and all seemed quite clean. Quite modern hotel, so a bit disappointing to find the rooms so small, but bathroom fine. Good location a few minutes walk to Gare du Midi, and another few minutes to Casino area. Do book the parking if you need to. Good secure underground garage with direct hotel access for 12 euros/night. Several coach parties stayed during our time here- no problem, just busy if you want an early breakfast. We had quite a nice stay here, and would probably stay again.

"small rooms just lets it down"
eurotrippers, 28 Juin 2018

A pleasant, safe area, not too far from the centre. Very small rooms, but the hotel caters for coach groups and it needs the number of rooms to satisfy its core market. Everything else exceptionally good. Breakfast with choices including both (real) scrambled and boiled eggs and bacon; fresh fruit and all the usual pastries etc. The swimming pool is small and for cooling down rather than swimming, but pleasant nonetheless. A spacious garden with seating and reclining areas. A very good bar with very fair pricing and a terrace to take a nightcap. The staff were friendly and helpful e.g. a lady very quickly sorted out a problem with the safe. This was our second stay and we would come again. Hint-- the buses are good value at 1 Euro per trip, even for visiting Bayonne and if, like us, you are there for a week, consider a 7 day pass for 11 Euros for unlimited number of trips

"Going back"
James Martin O, 18 Juin 2018

I love this small and lovely hotel so much that I'm returning to it in September. Only a few minutes from the airport and a short walk to the beach lots of lovely restaurants around it and a big supermarket facing it It has everything that I like

"Cozy small hotel close to the centre of Biarritz"
Pavel_Kucera, 10 Juin 2018

We spent here two nights; unfortunatelly rainy ones so were not able to use the inviting outdoor pool (which was closed due to the bad weather). The rooms are smaller but clean as well as is the bathroom (no tube). You can choose full breakfast for about 14 EUR or express breakfast for 7 EUR per person - just coffee, juice, some pastry, jam, butter etc. The hotel itself is located just minutes from the city centre, some 10 minutes walk from the sea and the prices are affordable for Biarritz standards.

"Tidy, nice and absolutely acceptable hotel"
DmitryStPetersburg, 23 Mai 2018

Staid here in the beginning of May 2018. Hotel is located a little bit out of Biarritz center so please note you'll need to walk uphill coming back from the beach. However, if you plan to use this hotel for driving around the region without using Biarritz beach every day – location is perfect. Staff is acceptably friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok, with a certain variety eventhough a bit overpriced. Wi-fi is stable and fast enough. Room is clean, bathroom could be a bit more lighted and at least 1 extra square meter is necessary. Sleeping comfort and bed linen were ok. Underground parking is available however I did not use it, parked on the street in front of the hotel (please take note that police is regularly controlling the parking tickets). Supermarket is just around the corner, 1 min. In general, I can easily recommend this hotel.

"Lovely hotel, coffee machine a bonus"
nng77, 13 Mai 2018

This hotel is conveniently placed on route on the airport bus which drops you right outside it in about 15 mins, so for 1€ each way it's really easy to get to and from without any hassle. The room we had was big as was the bathroom with clean modern furnishings. A nice touch was the Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Room was cleaned and replenished daily. Hotel reception were helpful and the pool area was nice, well kept and relaxing. Just around the corner is a supermarket where you can get breakfast, they have an array of pastries and sandwiches. Not far and easy to get to by bus is Bayonne which is worth a visit and if you hire a car as we did on A previous visit Bordeaux, Bilbao and san Sebastian are worth a visit. The hotel is not far from the main area and the beach, it's a lovely walk and even coming back or walking late at night felt safe. There are plenty of restaurants (some of which are reviewed in my other posts) and walking around the roads along the beach is beautiful. Biarritz is one of my favourite places and this hotel is a good base to stay, so much so that we've booked to go again in July.

"Great stay in a fantastic location"
golfer1111, 07 Janvier 2018

Reasonable walk to the beach and for the price it was unbeatable in the area. Quiet and clean room, close to many good restaurants, and nice service. Would highly recommend staying here again for a nice mid range hotel.

"Stylish budget, dog friendly hotel"
DaredevilMick, 18 Décembre 2017

Nicely decorated modern hotel. The rooms were well appointed though small especially if you are travelling with two dogs. Location is good, easy to find and with good underground parking. There are grass areas outside the hotel and various green areas within walking distance for dogs. The beach, casino and restaurants are all around 10 minutes walk away. Breakfast was continental with the addition of boil your own eggs- a welcome French touch.. No real complaints, good value for France and Biarritz.

"Generally a Good Stay"
DGPTraveler, 13 Octobre 2017

The hotel's breakfast was superb, and they served late which was great for us getting used to a time change! The room was small, but sufficient for our needs. The staff was generally helpful. There's parking in the hotel but it's not free. The hotel restaurant wasn't open for dinner, but there were some small restaurants a 10 minute walk away which we used the first night. The pool was very refreshing. By the way, the Asiatic Museum across the street from the hotel is excellent.

"Served its purpose"
trevgti, 25 Septembre 2017

Although out of the centre a little, there's no benefit from lack of noise. My room was on the street - and whilst not a main road, the traffic was endless, not least the endless scooters and mopeds the locals just love to rev up 24 hours a day. With the window open, it was impossible to hear the TV (which was not a problem, given the only English channel was CNN). Small shower room, with a hinged door on the shower itself which made access tricky. Large people beware. I've stayed in hotels where noise traveled from room to room, but this was terrible. I think upstairs was having a non-stop flamenco lesson and next door was continually moving furniture to get the fung shui right. It might as well have been a dormitory with curtains separating. As €15 for the usual French excuse-for-a-breakfast was exorbitant, we went out and found better choices. The "bar" advertised as such is purely the canteen style restaurant and rather a dreary place in the evening. Getting a drink relies on whoever is at reception multi-tasking, some of whom seemed happier than others to do so. In a pricey town, it's at the value end of the market, so I may be being over critical. If I couldn't/wouldn't pay more then I would stay again despite its shortcomings.

"Short golf tour "
Anthony B, 16 Septembre 2017

We choose the hotel for it's proximity to the centre and the price. From the outset we were impressed by the welcome and the helpfulness of the staff. For example parking, best bars and restaurants, taxis etc / nothing seemed a problem The rooms were clean and bright with great showers, the breakfast was ok but expensive. We would stay there again

"Great Hotel, great staff. Not right in town, and the restaurant is not always open"
Grammy L, 13 Septembre 2017

First, the hotel room was immaculate, well maintained, and well stocked with soaps and coffee/tea. Easy to set aircon or heat. Pool area is delightful and the desk staff are quick to hand you a map and give directions to town and local sights. My biggest complaint was the sudden and unexpected closure of the restaurant. The hotel is not "in town" - it is about a 20 minute walk to the nearest restaurant. That's not bad, but a 20 minute uphill walk back to the hotel after a large meal with wine can be difficult! I was also rather disappointed as their food has good reviews. Pizza delivery is available, should this happen to you, and your feet (like mine) are too tired to go back to town for dinner. Having walked the city, I would definitely stay here again, as I saw no other property I would have preferred to be at!!

"Accommodating Staff "
jamesnrnimmo90, 10 Septembre 2017

I stayed here with work as a large group as we were filming in France and Spain. As a large group we had a lot of specific and unusual needs and reception were brilliant with us. Despite being a demanding bunch, we were well looked after. Stephanie and Pauline met our every request and did brilliantly. The night porter was equally as brilliant with us and organised room service breakfasts for some of our VIP clients and we were well spoilt with breakfast. There was a female member of staff from the off set that I felt was quite abrupt. And by the end of our stay as we left (with luggage filling up reception) told us “we are not the only clients in the hotel” meaning we are causing disruption. But with 34 of us and a coach to load we tried to do our best not to impact the hotel too much but at times this couldn't be helped. Despite that though, they were brilliant with us and met our every need. In terms of the rooms - they're only small. But has everything you need. The shower cubicle is again tiny though and I knocked my elbows on the tiles as I washed up. Housekeeping staff were lovely though as we met them in the mornings.

"Ideal Location"
Kareb A, 09 Septembre 2017

This is a clean hotel. Food in restaurant was spot on in their set menu...lots of choice. Bedrooms were fine and shower pressure was good as nothing worse than a dribbling shower. Location was a short 5 mins to the main busy town and seafront however it is downhill so going back is....uphill!! But worth it. It also has a swimming pool area where you can lounge around and have a drink or eat. The pool is child friendly ie a lockable entrance gate. Staff very pleasant. Would definitely come back again.

"Very good hotel"
CT E, 01 Septembre 2017

Here for two nights, hotel in a very good location - easy to find off main route in with underground car park which I had pre - booked at 13 euros a night. Easy to walk into town centre. Good pool area. Very good breakfast at about 14 euros,, dinner was also very good there, staff were very pleasant. Rooms were modern, smart, clean and comfortable with coffee making facility and a rather compact bathrooms. Appeared to be a mix of business people and a coach trip staying there.

"Great hotel and value for money"
laurabeats, 10 Août 2017

We only stayed in this hotel for one night. It's in the perfect location situated just outside the Main Streets which are only a 5-10 minute walk away (up hill on the way back). The staff on the reception at both check in and check out were extremely pleasant and friendly providing recommendations for places to visit and eat. The room was spacious enough, what you'd expect and clean. We parked the car in a nearby parking garage (2 min walk) for 15€ for the day. We'd definitely book another stay.

"Great hotel, excellent value & lovely staff"
mitziB, 31 Juillet 2017

Stayed one night at this hotel. Great location - close to centre and beautiful beach. Staff so welcoming, friendly & helpful. Room/bathroom spotless clean and very comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room complete with nespresso machine+pods which was really great. The following morning Pauline/receptionist was so very helpful when we enquired about trains to San Sebastián - she checked the timetable on line and wrote down all the details for us which was very helpful and much appreciated - thank you! We would definitely recommend this hotel to travellers.

"Surpassed our expectations by FAR!"
martha s, 28 Juillet 2017

Stayed 9 nights in this very clean and modern hotel. Although the room was small, we worked around it and found clever places to stash our suitcases once we unpacked them...under the bed, way above the shelving unit... Did the express breakfast which was great for the price as we didn't want the full breakfast. Used the GREAT pool almost everyday after getting back from a whole day walking, exploring, being at the beach. Best part about staying here was the location. Easy walk to almost anywhere in Biarritz. Would definitely stay here again.

"A wonderful stay......"
Pete S, 28 Juillet 2017

The Karitza is well located with a 10 minute walk into the main town and central beach. Walking back may take a little longer - Biarritz is quite hilly and there are steps and steep slopes up to the hotel from the town. The hotel is situated on a busy junction ( with a very nice fountain in the middle) in a residential area and during the rush hours is can get quite busy. However, the double glazing in the room kept out the traffic noise and the air conditioning worked well. Our room (305) was spacious and seemed to be set up for guests with limited mobility - a seat in the shower/wet room for instance. It overlooked the delivery area for the supermarket across the road. Not the best view in Biarritz! The pleasant reception area was well stocked with leaflets and suggestions for visits. I cannot comment on the breakfast or evening meals as we didn't partake but the dining area looked very comfortable with an outside terrace. The pool area is kept clean and has sun beds for the use of guests. The bus stop from the airport (number 14 which takes about 15 minutes) is 100m away from the main door of the hotel and there is a stop for the bus to San Sebastian a little way across the road. The coffee machine and kettle in the room was an added bonus as not all hotels in France have this facility. We found getting around the area very easy on the buses as almost every journey costs 1 Euro and a 24 hour ticket can be bought for 2 Euros. We had a wonderful time in Biarritz and recommend the Karitza wholeheartedly.

"Spotless, modern hotel, just a short stroll to Biarritz centre and sea."
Graham M, 19 Juillet 2017

We booked this hotel based on TripAdvisor recommendations, and were not disappointed. The rooms are of a good size, very clean and comfortable ( if a little light on storage space), with attentive staff. The car park is adjacent and easy to access. The swimming pool was most welcome, as the temperature reached 39º whilst we were there. All very reasonably priced.

"Great value and location"
markir42, 16 Juillet 2017

Just returned from a 5 night stay in Best Western Karitza; found this hotel to be great value for money in what can be an expensive city. Room more than adequate with good air con, well stocked bathroom and a coffee machine; very clean and well maintained. Excellent breakfast with good choices. Staff helpful and friendly. Short walk to town centre and beach. Very handy shop for essentials just across the street. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this lovely city.

"Exceeded expectations."
823Paula, 16 Juillet 2017

For the price this hotel is outstanding. We stayed in the 4 person apartment for one night only. Wish I had booked for longer. It was spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable. I can't fault anything. I particularly enjoyed relaxing by the pool before dinner and a quick swim. Lovely warm pool towels were provided. Great position. Parking very convenient and you could walk into the centre of Biarritz. Will definitely return.

"Very good hotel. Great value. "
BiscuitJoint, 16 Juillet 2017

Great location for a nice stroll into Port Vieux or Grand Plage. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean. Didn't eat there - went to a patisserie round the corner for breakfast. (€14 a bit steep for unless you're planning on eating a lot). Just a croissant and a coffee - plenty of options nearby. If you're on a motorbike - free parking nearby A very good hotel and a good price. Recommended.

"Nothing bad to say"
grv89, 15 Juillet 2017

Stayed here for one night before heading to San Sebastián. Hotel was very close to the Conda & Pesa bus pick up spots which was very convenient. Biarritz airport bus also stopped right outside the hotel. A few small shops and cafes nearby and just 5-10 min walk from the beach. Rooms were comfortable, small balcony was nice and complementary Nespresso & water is always appreciated. Perfectly nice for a 1 night stay, only fault was a slight issue with the shower (room 302) the temperature dial kept slipping so you could only have the shower at one temperature, but hardly a big complaint. Would stay again

"Good option for Biarritz"
RandyOToole, 03 Juillet 2017

Easy hotel to find...about 10 mins stroll from the seafront...safe parking @ €12 p/d....service friendly...room compact, but perfectly fine. Good option for a short stay in this beautiful part of the world.

"Functional t best."
CaptainPicard_7, 26 Juin 2017

I say functional, my wife says horrible. Oh well. Rooms are small (I was glad we didn't bring the cat with us) and adequate. Nespresso machine with free refills, flat screen TV but very limited storage space. Tiny but functional bathroom with huge bath towels (but no bath). 5 miniues from centre of Biarritz. Decent underground secure garage which is good as on-road of public parking is almost impossible. Breakfast somewhat mediocre: fruit going bad and pastries kept beyond their best-before date. Pool is OK but it, and the hotel, is in the middle of a one-way system and consequently surrounded by roads. We enjoyed most of the motor cyclists from western Europe during our 3 days here (3 days too many really) so the entire town and surrounding areas were awash with noise all the day (and most of the night). Would only recommend staying the one night. Staff average.

"Very good value"
Carlos V, 18 Juin 2017

We arrived to the Best Western Karitza hotel late evening. The lady in the reception was very nice and informative. Garage is perfect (underground) for 12 euros. Room was very clean and had a window facing the quiet neighborhood. We went to eat breakfast at 6 AM. The mature gentleman at the reception was very pleasant, spoke excellent Spanish. Then came a young lady who was also pleasant. I give this hotel high marks for cleanliness, excellent personnel, an overall great value.

"Good hotel but watch out for smokers."
Zen&Co, 17 Juin 2017

Didn't get off to the best of starts here checked in ok but as soon as we walked into our 215 room the smell of smoking was over powering so the room was rejected. I'm as a loss to understand why the cleaners don't report it as soon as they clean the room and get the culprit fined. Second room was 221 but despite several goes and trips to reception the key card wouldn't work, now getting frustrated. Third room was 209 which we did get into and didn't smell but it was a twin not double. By now we conceded and made do with the room. The hotel is slightly off of the main centre but only a 10 min walk. Step out and look left across the main road and there is a big free car park which was very handy for us. A pleasant modern hotel with a clean and fresh feeling. Rooms are very clean and modern but a little small if you have a twin, doubles will be easier to manoeuvre around the luggage. The very very large painted numbers on the room doors are a nice touch. Modern compact bathroom, ours had a shower which suited us but it was odd that the cubicle was large but the shower tray was the size of a wash basin which you stood in with a row of flat ceramic tiles on the right and left of the tray. Think the builder must have run out of shower trays the correct width when he built it. Room decoration was nice and modern with funky orange lights either sides of the beds looking like bubbles to go wth the nautical theme. Breakfast was included and continental with hot eggs was in the light and airy dinning room and had a reasonable choice in a good pleasant setting. Nice pool but didn't get chance to use it or the sun beds. All in all a pleasant stay but room was a little cramped.

"Nice hotel in Biarritz"
Rune L, 14 Juin 2017

The location is about 5 to 10 minuters walk fr.o.m. City center and Grand Plage. We had booked a comfort room and it was very small but beds are comfortable and the room was tidy and fresh. Breakfast is buffé-type with cereals, eggs pancakes, marmelade and fresh juice. Price is 14€ but thats the cost for that kind of breakfast, about everywhere. You can park your car in a safe celler for 12€. There is also a Carrefourshop across the street. Staff is very kind and helpful.

"Trendy renovated hotel 10 minutes walk from La Grande Plage"
Brie H, 02 Juin 2017

While the hotel isn't right on the beach, it is only a 10 minute walk to La Grande Plage and a 20 minutes walk from Rocher de la Vierge, both of which I recommend visiting. Their parking lot was full when we arrived but luckily we found a street spot right outside, which we only had to pay an hour for until it became free in the evening as well as the next day. Check in was fairly quick. The room was really cute and beach themed. The bathroom was more spacious than all the other France hotels we visited. There was air conditioning and free wifi. Breakfast was great but expensive at 14 euros per person. I'd probably opt for the "express" breakfast for 7 euros if I were to stay there again.

"Excellent value and good fun!"
WelshGirlScotland, 27 Mai 2017

We stayed in this hotel for three nights while on a road trip through France. The spacious underground parking is a huge bonus for any traveller with a car and well worth 12 euros per night. Another bonus is the location - a five minute walk and you are in the centre of Biarritz. However, an unexpected bonus for this hotel was the restaurant. We ate there on our first night as we were tired and, to be honest, didn't expect all that much. How wrong we were! The food was fabulous and the service was great. We chose two courses from the set menu for 23 euros - both starter and main course were Basque dishes and absolutely delicious. We also benefited from some Basque singers entertaining a large party in the restaurant! The decor in the hotel is quirky but great fun. Our room had a 'bubbles' theme. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was well-equipped and the air-conditioning was quiet and efficient. We were also fairly astonished to find a heated outdoor swimming pool. All this for approx. £70 per night. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

"Excellent hotel all round"
JaniePet, 18 Mai 2017

We booked for one night whilst travelling around France. The reception staff were welcoming and check in was easy. We used the underground car park which was an additional €12 but worth it as no local street parking. After walking around Biarritz which is just a five minute stroll to the casino beach we decided to come back to the hotel to eat. That was the best decision we made! The food was excellent. And the one and only waiter was very proficient. The bedroom was immaculately clean with lovely toiletries, comfy beds and good wifi. We opted to take the buffet breakfast which I personally think was a little expensive at €14 each but the choice was good and plentiful. Check out was a little more difficult as I wasn't offered a bill until after I had paid however I would recommend this hotel no would definitely stay again

"Great Choice for an Economical Stay in Biarritz"
Drew and Maria ... N, 29 Avril 2017

Secure underground parking, neat and clean if small guest rooms, and a good location within a short walk of the commercial/tourist center, the Grand Casino, and the waterfront. Helpful staff and a passable restaurant -- nothing here to rave about, but for the price, this is an excellent choice for a traveler making a stop in Biarritz.

"Clean, modern, well-located hotel with secure underground parking."
John C, 12 Novembre 2016

We had a smallish but tastefully decorated room with perfectly clean bathroom. As local parking can be difficult, the secure parking beneath the hotel was a plus. The beaches, market, and restaurants were all within walking distance.

"Good situation and easy parking"
Farnsfield, 28 Octobre 2016

A modern hotel with the expected facilities. Well situated for easy walking to the sea-front and, importantly in this popular town, with easy parking. Make sure you book ahead for the secure underground parking. Good choice of breakfast

"You will not be disappointed!"
Richagadir, 18 Octobre 2016

I saw the dawn in France, the morning mist clear, the sun shine and lovely hedgerows rushing past the car (I was rushing NOT the hedgerows) and then eventually arrived at the Best Western plus Karitza Restaurant which is situated very conveniently for access from the motorway and yet only a 5 minute walk from Biarritz's town center and 10 minutes from the beach area. - Friendly and efficient reception- secure parking & a well equipped room with wifi! I decided to eat in the restaurant Karitza which is accessed directly from the reception area (it can also be accessed directly from the street). Comfortable, good service - surprisingly good wine (even by the glass). The menu is small with about 7 choices of each course- apparently the menu is changed about every 8 weeks. The food was superb - I was very impressed. If your driving south towards Saint Sebastian- make sure to call in at this restaurant on your way past. I plan to drive past again on my way back north to Calais & London.

"Clean, good value, friendly"

We stayed over just one night whilst travelling back to the UK. The hotel is quite basic, but good value, clean and helpful staff. Ideal for our purposes. Centrally located, only 5 minutes walk to town centre.

"Perfectly fine"
RegHollis, 21 Septembre 2016

This place was fine. A bit awkward to find but a big parking garage when we eventually arrived. Rooms are clean and decently equipped although not very big. Location is OK, just a few minutes walk down to the seafront.

"Week away in sept"
GNUSurrey, 14 Septembre 2016

Stayed in this hotel great location helpful staff breakfast buffet plentiful outside pool close to road so a little noisy. rooms are small no drawers two shelves we couldn't reAch the top one so if you stay here don't bring much luggage! The bathroom is small and shower space but it is a good base. Bus stop 5 mins walk up the road if you want yo go to San sebastien grand plague 10 mins walk lots of bars and restaurants 5 mins

"Nice hotel"
Daniel G, 06 Septembre 2016

Ideal for a city break. It has underground parking, bar, restaurant and a pool. It's a short walk into the town. There is also a member of staff on Reception called Frederic, who was extremely friendly, helpful and generally everything you would hope for from a member of hotel front desk staff. Lovely hotel.

"Excellent clean, modern little hotel"
john77772015, 04 Septembre 2016

We stayed here for two nights enroute to San Sebastien. The hotel is close to the town centre and conveniently located for the bus to Spain. As previous reviewers have said, the room was on the small side so probably suited towards shorter stays, but it was clean, functional and the staff were friendly.

"Excellent location - just make sure you book parking in advance!"
TravellingHistorian1, 25 Août 2016

This hotel is an excellent base for exploring Biarritz, just a short walk from the beaches, shops and town centre. The decor is funky and the rooms are comfortable, clean and cool, if a little cosy. Wifi is free but a bit sketchy. Nice to have access to an outdoor swimming pool, although a trip to the beach is more fun! Private underground parking (11€ per day) is an advantage in such a hectic area of the city, but make sure you book in advance by contacting the hotel directly otherwise you may be disappointed!

"Modern look & feel but room was small"
GJ R, 22 Août 2016

This is a very nice hotel that served an amazing Euro breakfast buffet. The modern looking interior is well appointed and the staff are super friendly. The AC is good. Located with within walking distance to the downtown shopping area amd many restaurants.

"It's ok, nothing more."
Valerie-Parry, 14 Août 2016

It's clean...but that's a given in our book...but the rooms are just too small to be workable. The bathroom is especially small with nowhere to put your toilet bag and the shower, although powerful was tiny. The room itself...you have one small shelf taken up with kettle, cups etc, a tiny bedside thing each side and two metal garden furniture type chairs. Nothing else, and again, absolutely nowhere to put your stuff. You can't unpack as there's not enough storage for your clothes so you spend your time falling over your case. The bed is prob king size, bigger than a double anyway, comfortable enough with synthetic pillows. Nice soft linen though. Location, well, you're a little walk out from the centre where the eateries are but nothing major. The Grande Plage is a stride further but if you want the other beaches, they're a bit of a hike. If you require parking, you need to book it...we didn't and it was full. No, we wouldn't stay here again, the rooms just aren't big enough.

"Clean and close to the centre"
Ms C, 08 Août 2016

Well, the room (Comfort Room) was small, but it was clean, fresh and modern. The Town and beach just after the town is walking distance and there is a shop very close to the hotel for food and bakery bits. The breakfast was the only letdown for me, less variety than I am used to. For example, there was bacon, egg, and tomato, no sausages or beans much time partner's dismay. The breakfast area seems small, so the two - three staff members seem to be erratically running back and forth to refill one thing at a time. The fruit cups are clearly not all fresh, I had one this morning and the fruit tasted fizzy. We had our dog with us and that was a reasonable 8€ per night, and we were OK with the 11€ per night secure parking, we were only there 2 nights. I wouldn't stay here for a week (room would be too small, I'd prefer to be closer to the centre for a longer stay) but for an economical long weekend, I think this would be a good choice.

"Great location, very comfortable and great breakfast"
margaret19612016, 03 Août 2016

We stayed in the hotel for a week in july. The bedroom was quite small but very comfortable and was tidied daily and towels changed when necessary. We had booked breakfast and we were not disappointed, great selection. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the swimming pool is a great bonus.

"Modern, budget hotel close to town centre."
Catherine M, 01 Août 2016

The Best Western Plus Karitza is a modern, budget hotel five minutes from the centre of town and two minutes from the bus to San Sebastian. Rooms were compact, but functional and well-designed and staff were helpful.

"Super location walking distance "
MlleSB, 26 Juillet 2016

My friend and I recently spent 2 nights at this hotel- location is fantastic few minutes walk to centre and also if you plan on going to San Sebastián the bus is a few metres from the hotel. We took a taxi from Biarritz airport which was €15- in hindsight I would recommend the bus which stops near hotel and is much cheaper- the airport is few minutes away. Room was small but comfortable and very clean. Bed was much better than expected and we had a small balcony area. We got a great price compared to others in area. Would recommend for a stay in Biarritz!

"Good location, expensive though"
Emma A, 26 Juillet 2016

I visited Biarritz at the Big Festival weekend. What a great place, the holiday is very well located, close to the shops, bars and beach. The staff were lovely, and the room was well equiped and spotlessly clean. It was tiny though, so it was perfect just to sleep off the days dancing, however, I did think that 150 euros for such a small room was expensive. That said, it didn't spoil my stay and I would visit again.

"Great hotel"
Lisa G, 26 Juillet 2016

This is a great mid range hotel, recently updated and modern. It's about a 10 minute walk to the beach, perfect location. The car park needs to be booked in advance and has an 11 euro charge per day. There is a supermarket around the corner with a fresh bakery attached. Restaurants are close by and the food is good. The main walk from the lighthouse around the coast is very nice. The hotel sell tickets for the bus to San Sebastián and are willing to organize anything you need.

"Clean, generic hotel in good location"
phil s, 05 Juillet 2016

We stayed here for two nights in July and found it to be friendly, well run, and very clean. Good underground parking is available and it is about a 10 min walk out of Biarritz centre. Has a pool which we did not use.

"Perfect location"
Fiametta60, 20 Juin 2016

We stayed 2 nights at the Karitza , we were there for th Wheels & Waves festival. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you, the breakfast was really good, big choice. Underground private parking for our motorcycle and perfect location to walk one direction for the festival or the other direction to the town. The hotel was full but we didn't hear any other guests at night it was so quiet. It was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

"Value for money"
IMS26, 31 Mai 2016

A very clean hotel with a pool. The bed was comfortable with the window opening fully for fresh air. Nice non alcoholic mocktails in the evening. The staff spoke english but were happy to teach you french. The bus stop was 2 minutes and it cost 1 euro to the airport and 7 euros one way to san sebastian in spain. The town centre only 15/20 minutes walk, but remember its hilly on the way back. Housekeeping was outstanding. It would get 5 stars if it was near the beach easily.

"Impressive service & lovely hotel"
CAGridley, 22 Avril 2016

We stopped here on our way to Spain, originally only intending 1or2 nights, but our car developed a fault & we had to extend our stay, not really knowing from day to day how long we would need to stay. The hotel were very accommodating. Lovely staff. Very good Breakfast, & dinner was of a good standard too, limited menu, at a reasonable price. This hotel well deserves the Trip Advisor certificate of excellence it has been awarded.

"Regular visited"
Japanesereds, 17 Mars 2016

I've stayed here many times and have never had a problem. The staff are efficient and attentive. Breakfast and dinner are both tasty and excellent value. The location is perfect for exploring the town and beach area on foot. No hesitation in recommending the Karitza!

"Excellent"
Gitesdelaprade, 14 Mars 2016

We stayed here for the weekend, arriving Saturday and leaving Monday. On arrival the reception staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, even though I had re-booked parking in the hotel's carpark (11€ per night)I was advised to leave my car where it was outside the hotel because it was free to park on the street until 9am on the Monday morning! Our room was excellent, the bed large and comfortable, free wifi and a clean and well equipped bathroom. The restaurant was, unfortunately closed the weekend I stayed so I can' comment on that but, I can comment on the breakfast buffet, it was superb... hot and cold food, fresh fruit, fresh boiled eggs, meat, cheese and the fresh orange juice and coffee were excellent, well worth the charge. All in all an excellent hotel, quiet location but not far from the hub of the city and, if you want a taxi to the restaurants, bars etc, the service is excellent and only about 8€ a trip!

"Huge comfy bed and unlimited wi fi - they really understand modern travel"
HAR225, 05 Janvier 2016

When will hotel chains wake up to the reality that today people expect WiFi as a basic service and not one that costs loads extra and has layers of hassle before you get the usually second rate service. This hotel is the opposite, 100 per cent hassle free - the rooms are a bit "compact" but the beds are extra large and very comfy. Overall 10/10 for location, price, service and value.

"A bit small, but very clean"
John L, 01 Novembre 2015

The room was a little on the small side, was stuffy but perfectly clean. We opened the window and the room cooled down, but we still had to dump the duvets. The parking was fine with decent sized bays and a good approach ramp. There is a small supermarket almost opposite. The entrance to the reception and the car park are in a fairly quiet one way street, so if your sat nav does not get it right first time, it is easy to go round the block to approach the right way! We decided to eat in the hotel's restaurant, but it wasn't a particularly rewarding experience, and was expensive for what we had.

"Lovely modern hotel great value just slightly out of the main buzz of town back up hill"
Helen C, 12 Septembre 2015

We love this hotel. Modern rooms and bathrooms just as in the pics with a nice outdoor heated pool (towels provided by reception). It was easy to find for us coming by bus from the train station and is an easy walk down hill into the main buzz of town with restaurants and bars being about a 10 minute walk away and the beach about a 20 minute walk. We haven't minded the walk back up hill at the end of the day or night. The staff have been friendly and helpful and provided everything we've needed. Wifi is free and accessible with a code. There's a hairdryer and TV in the room. There's no fridge but reception offered to cool things for us if we needed it. The bed is comfy and pillows and duvet are comfy too. Very happy with our stay.

"Great value"
Max N, 04 Septembre 2015

Great little hotel for the price paid. Staff were all very polite, and hotel itself was modern, clean and well run. Rooms were on the small side but can't complain as they are comfortable and tidy. Also great that it had a pool to relax at when the beaches become too busy! Very pleased with our weekend away.

"Seems like false advertising"
Jim R, 21 Août 2015

Web site offers parking on-site with out reservation. When we arrived, they insisted we needed a reservation, and the garage was full. They blamed the discrepancy on Booking.com, but it was their own hotel website which clearly stated parking reservation not needed, and "not possible." Wifi/internet connection was non-functional part of the time and extremely slow the rest of the visit. This hotel should not be in the Best Western inventory.

"Nice place!"
Jorge Futoshi Y, 08 Août 2015

The hotel is very comfortable, with nice rooms. Breakfast is optional and costs 6 euros. They offers croissants, baguettes, and gâteau basque. The last one is a traditional French recipe, very delicious. There is a swimming pool and some chairs around for sun bathing. The Grand Plage, the principal beach in Biarritz, and downtown is not far from hotel: five minutes walking you reach them.

"Well but..."
EstherManceri, 04 Août 2015

10 minutes from the City's Heart by walk. Breakfast is good and presents a good choice & costs 13€. Unfortunately the room is really small. The bathroom isn't comfortable&well thought: Storage spaces are too low onto the washbasin -& not numerous-, toilet paper is fixed too close to the toilet which means that Guest got to be flexible, Ha ;) The parking costs 11€ 24h ...I'd though It would be free or even cheeper. The pool is a bit small...In my opinion, this is not its Strong Point. Finally & The most Important thing to me: Welcome at the Front Desk wasn't warm at all. We arrived early -At 1:00 p:m since Check In is at 3:00 p:m-.The Receptionist wasn't Agreable in the least! It was just like "I'm busy, Can't you just leave the hotel for the moment..!" The second receptionist that welcomed us at Night when we came back was much nicer & Professional. The Night Audit is very Nice, warm! So, this is not a general remark, but....My friend & I have noticed it. Too bad!

"Good hotel for the short stay"
Maria B, 03 Août 2015

Very comfortable room. Only room service at 3-4pm is dissapointing - too late when we exactly wanted to come to have fiesta in our room. The town is extremely overcrowded in August. Can't even pass by in the street or on the beach. Waves are good for surfing.

"very welcoming, helpful staff"
Dawn B, 01 Août 2015

I would recommend this hotel. It is comfortable and well situated for the town. The restaurant manager was particularly helpful and attentive to my husband who has coeliac disease and requires a gluten free diet.

"Bayonne Rugby"
Edwin G, 24 Février 2015

Lovely stay in Biarritz to watch rugby. Hotel was excellent. paid extra for room upgrade well worth it. easy access from airport via bus. staff helpful and friendly. would recommend for a trip to biarritz

"Very comfortable hotel with nice Pool"
DRN555, 01 Septembre 2014

We stayed in the apartment for a couple of days and it was very comfortable and spacious. The only very minor comment is that the kitchen is very small and lacks an oven so restricted cooking capability. It is worth noting the underground car park has a 1.7m height limit but we were able to park the hotel just down the road at no cots.

"Biarritz hotel"
Hugh O, 27 Juin 2014

Very welcoming and well located hotel that I would recommend for all round excellence. It is a short walk from the town centre and the return journey is uphill but easily manageable - I am well over retirement age!
