The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly and the reception staff were very helpful with any queries we had. The hotel is ideally located only 3 minute walk from the Spittelmarkt underground and within easy walking distance of all the major tourist sights. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the twin beds provided a quiet and comfortable nights sleep. The room is equipped with coffee making facilities and a selection of teas and coffees. The hotel is good value for money and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to potential guests.
Nice and quiet place, even if there were many guests. Rooms ok for this price level; our room felt fresh and comfortable, though it could have been more spacious. Very friendly service! Very, very nice breakfast! Only minus is that the bath towels reeked of some wannabe-flower scented detergent.
Staff at this hotel are very helpful, nothing too much of a trouble for them. Helped when we first arrived as the lock on the suitcase was broken. The guy at the desk got some pliers and sorted it! Able to leave luggage in lockers if arrive priror to check in time. Great English and gave good advice when needed. Rooms comfortable and clean. Good access to restaurants, coffee shops, etc, on the same street. Easy to walk to points of interest or if preferred underground stations are near the hotel. Would recommend.
We stayed here five days. First, the positives: the staff was friendly and the room was clean. The negatives: None of the rooms include a small refrigerator, so no bringing home leftovers from restaurants or buying breakfast the evening before or bringing cold beer back for the evening. The comforters were way too heavy for summertime and the air conditioning did not cool enough to compensate. Also, they did not provide wash cloths in the bathroom.
If you choose a hotel based on their buffet breakfast, then choose this one! It was huge with anything you could ever want to eat for breakfast. The room were fine and the bathroom was good, if a little small. The location was convenient and was in walking distance to many things in the city.
We stayed here for 4 nights, we came over for the football but also explore Berlin. Berlin is amazing 🤩 the hotel is located brilliantly, easy access to underground etc. staff at hotel are very friendly & helped us with directions and advice where to go/visit etc. our rooms well very comfortable but only niggle we had was that the A/C didn't work properly & that there was no mini fridge to keep out water cool etc. but I would recommend here
The hotel is excellent and centrally situated so you can walk to most places or use the metro. The Metro station is less than 5 mins walk. The staff were excellent and very helpful, they answered all our questions and nothing was too much. The only criticism was that there is no fridge in the room however we could leave things in the reception fridge.
We really liked our stay in Berlin. We stayed 4 nights and didn't encounter any issues. The staff is helpful too. Every night we slept with the window open as it was in summer. The neighborhood is so quiet not a sound disturbed us. We walked to everything but there is a metro U station near the hotel if you'd like to use public transportation. In addition, there are only a handful of restaurants in the vicinity (with 2 located literally right across the street). That was no problem for us as we usually would have dinner out in the city before heading home. Overall, we would recommend Best Western.
6 friends travelled to Berlin via Easyjet holidays in April 2024 for birthday celebrations. From arriving at hotel to leaving, all staff were very courteous and helpful. 3 twin bedded rooms all of which were clean and comfortable. All 6 of us commented on the lovely hot showers!! Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of hot and cold foods and drinks. U-bahn station just around corner with plenty of restaurants within walking distance of 15 mins or so. A small bar and sitting area near reception. No faults from us group of ladies!!
The room was adequate but let down by dated furniture and no evening restaurant. However the receptionist did recommend a local tapas bar and the Liefrerando app- which is the German equivalent of Just Eat. We were delivered a prompt couple of meals which were excellent quality with the latter app- after a long day of travel. Hotel situated approx 40 mins walk from Alexandraplatz and there are numerous food, supermarket facilities en route. Would I stay here again- probably not- just expect a little more in todays competitive market.
I booked a week in Berlin for my fiance's 30th birthday via Jet2 and this is the hotel we stayed at. We are both really happy with the hotel as well as the service by the super friendly staff. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The breakfast is delicious with a good selection of hot and cold foods to choose from. The staff are extremely helpful and always assisting you with a smile. We've really enjoyed our stay at Best Western Am Spittelmarkt. Thank you to the entire team for making us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout! 💙
Stayed here while enjoying a four night break in Berlin. Greeted at the small reception by friendly staff. In the corner area are some seating and tables which is the "bar". Its not very welcoming. The room was satisfactory with tea / coffee facility. Twin beds could do with bigger duvets. Shower cubicle very small but powerful hot water. Free safe. Aircon kept the room warm. Free luggage lock box. Did not have breakfast so cant comment. Location is good being two minutes from Spittelmarkt U Bahn (U2 line). From here you can go to Alexanderplatz where you can change to S Bahn for Central station or to the airport. In the other direction you can go to the Zoo and Potsdamerplatz. We didn't find many restaurants within walking distance, although we saw the Spanish restaurant just across the road too late in our stay. We did eat at the Spitteleck restaurant round the corner twice which was good. We didn't find the bierkellers that we expected to see unlike Munich. Walking distance to Checkpoint Charlie, but we used the Hop on / off bus to see the sights. If we were to visit again I think around Alexanderplatz would be a good place to stay. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel though.
Comfortable hotel In a good location. Close to the metro station. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. We only had breakfast once during our visit but this had a good selection and lots of seating. A nice base for the Christmas markets
Good base to see the Christmas markets and sights very close to the UBhann. Very friendly helpful staff, breakfast very good, rooms clean, very hot had to sleep with window open. Highly recommended, 20min walk to Checkpoint Charlie. The UBhann really easy to use €11 for day ticket
Hotel was easy t find, right next to a U-bahn station for easy access and on foot to good restaurants and sights (e.g. cathedral). The showers were small but fabulous temperature and pressure. Comfy beds and a good night's sleep. Staff were warm and friendly and there were options for more comfort if needed, e.g. pillows, ear plugs if noisy, chargers.... The only downside was there seemed to be no way to turn off the air conditioning which made the rooms overly warm during the night.
location was perfect, the room was clean. staff was really nice (except for one employee that was a little rude/impatient when we arrived for check in) we also lacked a small fridge in our room, but that also wasn't a major issue. overall everything was really nice!!
Brilliant hotel , situated in an ideal location .room was clean and the staff were very helpful and accommodating the restaurant has a great breakfast selection .would definitely stay here again ...
The hotel itself was excellent—helpful, friendly staff; clean, comfortable rooms, and just minutes from the Ubahn. Nearby restaurant choices were limited, although the Vietnamese restaurant nearby was wonderful.
Ideal for a city break in Berlin. Very close to Spittelmarkt U-bahn station. 20 minute walk from Checkpoint Charlie. Small reception, which also doubles as the bar, with efficient staff. The room was equipped to the usual standard, and very clean. Had air conditioning, plus opening windows. The bathroom was the best thing, looked almost new, and the shower was very powerful. Had breakfast on one morning, which was great, plenty of choice. In a quiet corner of central Berlin.
All staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. One allowed us to check-in a tad early which was amazing. The room was cozy, and best of all, had air conditioning! Twin-sized beds pushed together, so if you don't mind that, then this is a good fit. Rook is decently sized. They have a combined body wash/shampoo substance in the shower, so if you prefer separate ones you should bring your own. Tea/coffee was available in abundance. Great location, close to small shops with great Vietnamese food and other cafés. 8 minute walk to a decent coffee shop. Extremely close to transit station and walking distance (20 min) to Berliner Dom. Would definitely stay here again if we visited!
I have rated the hotel average only based on amenities. The rooms are adequate and very clean. There was work being undertaken in the reception which probably couldn't be helped but did spoil the atmosphere somewhat. I didn't find the staff particularly friendly but think that was mostly due to the language difference and I can't really comment either way. Access to transport is excellent as there is a U Bahn right near the hotel which meant easy travel to Alexanderplatz. We walked most days however and wasn't too bad as long as you are reasonably fit. There is a lovely bakery nearby Shaeffers which we went to for breakfast and coffee daily. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as only I like breakfast and so we didn't feel it would have been good value for us personally. I would consider using the hotel again though if I was to stay in the area again.
This is a lovely clean hotel in a great location. It's ideal for a city break and is right beside an underground train and a bus stop, making it very easy to get around Berlin. The staff were very friendly. The room is spacious and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. Very affordable.
This hotel did the job for a romantic getaway but the breakfast was the worst buffet I have EVER had. I could write a book…. - Terrible toaster - Stale bread - ‘Hot' food was cold and been lying around for ages - The juice was warm I could go on and on! The beds were comfy but the pillow were very bizarre! The staff on reception were also a little rude. All in all if you want somewhere to sleep and that's it then this place will do!
I recently stayed at the Best Western Hotel Am Spittelmarkt and overall had a great experience. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is within walking distance to many of the city's top attractions. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were amazing, making for a good night's sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, a very good experience.
This is a perfect hotel for a city break. Its not luxurious, and the rooms are quite small, but it was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. We managed to walk to all the main sites but there is an underground station at the end of the road. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and always lots of room to sit. There are lockers to store luggage if you arrive early (they don't let you check in until the designated check in time) or are leaving after check out, and willingly booked us a taxi to the airport. Hotel staff were friendly enough but you felt some of them weren't willing to go above and beyond what they had to. There's not too many bars and restaurants around the hotel but we had a lovely meal at the Spanish restaurant opposite (they also let you just go in for a drink) and a nearby Italian restaurant (turn right out the hotel and its further up the street on the corner on the left). We would definitely consider using this hotel again if we returned to Berlin.
Simple and spartan hotel that despite being newly built looks old and outdated. However livable and acceptable. What is unacceptable is the reception. The people are not at all communicative and not at all welcoming. On my arrival, I was assigned the room in the side and outside building. They gave me no explanation and I walked around three times like an idiot looking for my room, which was not in that building but I had to leave and go to the other building. Evidently it was a game on the backs of the customers. I found my room dirty, with pistachio shells on the carpet. They changed my room but without moving my suitcase. On my return I asked for this but to no avail. The suitcase was still in the old room and getting the key was like talking to a deaf mute. After various vicissitudes, I managed to get the key and go and retrieve my luggage. I stayed for a week and staying in the separate body I never met those useless people at reception.
Close to U Bahn few steps to it. Clean rooms. spacious rooms, quite room 425 . Toilet and bathroom goods. TV with English channels. Comfortable Bed. Hot water with good pressure. Complimentary room water and coffee or tea. Good and friendly staff. Small Bar area. No dine in service but the area has lots of places. You can leave your bags. Free wifi and Internet stations.
This hotel is in a good location and within walking distance of most sites of tourist interest, if not the U-Bahn is very close. There is also a Spanish restaurant opposite which is very good. The hotel room 338 was quite small and had separate beds and a good TV. Breakfast was a little expensive and I would say this was more of a two star than three, but was clean and very quiet too. In short, good value for money.
Conveniently located hotel with nearby Uban stops, supermarket (6 minute walk away), Spanish restaurant and breakfast restraint options. Clean and well kept, unable to comment on breakfast as we didn't have it.
2 nights in room 425. Efficient and friendly reception. Quiet room at the end of a corridor. Decent size. Tea and coffee but no fridge. Socket close to bed. Bed could be firmer but okay. Good pillows. Close to U-Bahn, supermarkt and just a few eateries. More variety within 10 minutes walk. Good value for money. Would stay again.
Located 3 minutes walk from the underground train network, this great hotel provided us with everything we needed for a 6 night stay in Berlin. Whilst not in a tourist area, we were centrally located near the main road linking Potsdamer Platz and Alexander Platz. We walked to all the major attractions including Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate, Topography of Terror and the Holocaust Museum. Check in was smooth and the free luggage lockers meant that despite arriving to early to check in, we could leave out luggage and start exploring Berlin straight away. The airconditioned room was comfortable and the breakfast amazing! The variety of food and drinks on offer for breakfast meant that we were could do hours of morning sightseeing before needing to stop for lunch. Highly recommended, especially if you plan on spending most of your Berlin time exploring, not sitting around in a hotel room - it was a fantastic home base.
Just returned from a short break and this was one of the options that the travel agent offered, which I picked as the reviews were good and showed it to be in a quiet area and close to the underground station. We found the hotel to be excellent and had no complaints at all. The rooms we had were spacious and sleep quality was very good. All in all a very nice experience and I would recommend this hotel.
Parking, location, clean rooms, friendly staff that is perfect. Improvements are better airco in the room, missing fridge in the room and the single beds good be wider. There is a free safe in the room that is perfect.
We stayed here while attending a festival in Templehof so the hotel was very convenient with the U6 line at checkpoint Charlie just a 10 minute walk away. The hotel itself was very clean, the room had everything we needed with modern furnishings and comfortable beds and pillows. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and all spoke good English. They also allowed us to check in early which was such a relief as we had been travelling by all night and hadn't slept. The wifi worked perfectly, we had no issues with it at all. It's a great hotel if you're just in the city to do sightseeing or attend an event, but there isn't a lot of nightlife or restaurants within walking distance (which suited us just fine). There's a small bar in the reception but we didn't use it. We also found that the luggage lockers were very helpful for the day we departed as we had the full day before our flight home. Would definitely stay again!
I would never choose this hotel again - there are many superior options and I was left really disappointed as this is a chain I usually really rate. I will give a summary below - Positives Comfortable bed Ok location in terms of getting around the city Air con was good Beer in bar is cheap Negatives Bar in hotel has no comfortable seating to sit and drink your beer at. Wifi is absolutely shocking - couldn't watch a programme on prime or download one. Incredibly noisy both from doors slamming but also we overlooked the car park and it was incredibly loud with lorries and what sounded like builders machinery every weekday morning. We might have not has this if they had given us a room on the other side of the hotel and despite booking well in advance and booking directly through their website we still seemed to end up with the crappest rooms which were NOTHING like the pictures. No plug near the bed so you can't charge your phone and play on it in bed for example. No refills were offered for the tea and coffee etc you had to ask every day! Bed is two single beds and they slide away from each other very easily leaving a big gap between them - consider that if you are a couple. There is nothing near it in terms of nice bars/cafes. There is an awful cafe across the road and a good Spanish restaurant but that's it. Not even a shop nearby open decent hours. Breakfast was expensive. Overall really disappointed - the pictures showed rooms with baths and we didn't get one. It was so noisy most days you were woken up either by staff or slamming doors or then the noise from outside which we both complained about from different rooms! I would avoid this hotel - plenty of others which are just as close to the centre and have better facilities.
Dont recommend , cp Complete design of the hotel is not satisfying , we we expected a better hotel for the value of the money , room was small , reception was not to a hotel standard This is a better choices in the same area
Stayed here with small a child. Service, room and location are great. It is easy to walk to lots of sights to spare the train rides with a stroller. The child loved it and was treated very kindly by all staff. Overall good experience.
It's a decent hotel with a good price. The breakfast is worth the price for 9 EUR. Rooms are a bit on the small side but it isn't expensive. A minute walk away from Spittelmarkt station, very handy. Also, Museum Island is walkable from hotel.
I was traveling with brother, and booked two single beds and got one vig bed. Reception ok, but it seems that some stuff need more education. Also seems that reception and house keeping department are not comunicating enough, on the day of departure we left fpr breakfast with plan to go back to room after and pick up baggage, and house keeping clean room like we will stay longer, double work. But hotel is always clean and sustanible, in bathroom is visible sign for towels.
We spend three nights at this hotel and can not recommend this place. Below i will highlight several issues impacting our stay very negative: - Check in for the three rooms we had booked was beyond inefficient - We order one superior room as the description said "1 Doppeltbett" while the regular rooms where noted with "2 Einzelbetten" (this was further confirmed by the pictures displayed), however the so called double bed consisted of two beds pushed together, which was not what we ordered meaning we pay more for something we do not receive. The next morning when my partner tells the reception, she answers "that is what we call a double bed in Germany" it was only when she realized that I was Germany, that she apologized and promised that the price difference would be refunded upon check out. Only to deny the exact same thing one day late. - In addition to the 5 cm crack in between our beds, the madrassas made squeaky sounds, were very uncomfortable and should have been changes years ago - At check out, we had to fight to get our receipt, although this was promised at check in - Hotel cleaning staff entered the room while showering and started cleaning, ignoring the fact that someone was naket in the shower - Hotel cleaning staff knocked on the door 5 time at 9:20 in the morning, everytime we yelled no a later til a point where were screaming. Ignoring this the staff evered anyway, where we quickly had to wrap a blanket around us. The staff was did not understand why this was not appropriate. We told them (in German) that we would check out at 11 and they could come back after that. However, they entered the room again an hour later, completely disrespecting boundaries and personal space. - The room suffered from some long-term cleaning/maintenance e.g. madrassas and entire bathroom. - It was extremely cold and the heating did not heat efficiently. Given the cold temperature of October and the inefficient heating the blankets were no where warm enough!
Nobody was there, the hotel is closed. We didn't know and we had to urgently book a new hotel nearby. We paid almost 100 Euros which we haven't gotten back yet because nobody answers any of our phonecalls nor our emails. Very dishonest ! We want the money back!
I stayed for 2 nights this week. I'd originally booked the Mercure Alexanderplatz but that hotel was closed, so they offered me accommodation at the Best Western am Spittlemarkt which is owned by the same company. Although this hotel was slightly more expensive, they honored my original rate and recognised my Accor status with an upgrade to a Junior Suite. Check in was very quick and easy, and the reception manager was extremely friendly. My 6th floor room was very clean, spacious and modern. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space and a large desk. Tea/coffee facilities were available, along with a fridge. The ensuite was large with a separate bath and shower with good water pressure. The only downside would be the boring, somewhat clinical decor; alot of the space in the room was unused. On the flip side, there was alot of natural light, and whilst my room faced the street it was perfectly quiet at night. The hotel is well located for exploring the sights of Berlin. U-bahnhof Spittlemarkt is just 2 minutes walk away from where you can catch the U2 and several bus routes. It's about 40 mins by bus and u-bahn from Tegel Airport (though TXL will close in a couple of weeks). You can walk to Alexanderplatz and Unter den Linden in 15 minutes and Checkpoint Charlie & Brander burger Tor are also within walking distance. There's a really good café opposite the hotel which offers a good breakfast, with a Spanish restaurant and bar next door. The hotel bar is reasonably priced too. All in all a good choice for a short stay in Berlin.
You get what you pay for. I was here on a city break. The hotel is very central. If you enjoy walking you can get to most of the main attractions in the city within half an hour. The reception staff were extremely helpful and the room was clean and adequate. No bar lounge but drinks were available to purchase to take to the room or sit at a table within the reception area.
The hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing and exploring the city. Within walking distance or by taxi which could be ordered via the receptionist. The hotel staff were friendly and always able to help and guide us with what to do whist in Berlin. On arrival we were given a map to show us where the hotel was and where the nearest underground station and bus stop was. Couldn't of had a better experience. The hotel staff were incredible.
We were due to stay from 26 April for a number of days. Our flights have been cancelled and we cannot enter the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. The motel will not refund or transfer our booking. We will loose our money. Shame on you!!!
8 of us stayed here on a city break just left. Lovely and clean hotel. The staff were good. We left a watch in the room and the cleaner had it and gave it back which we respected. Thank you. They let us sit up one of the nights with food and drinks downstairs. Really great place for the price!
Comfortable Hotel, with everything you might need. Could have had a water heater and some coffe and tea. Bed was great, TV with many channels. No brakfast for me but one night we sayed till midnight at the lobby with a drink and there was no trouble at all. Very clean and silent.
We stopped here for three nights as part of a package deal. We picked this hotel mainly for its location. Whilst it is not in the city centre, it is only a few minutes walk to the nearest metro station and easy to get to from the airport. There are several places to eat nearby and a supermarket too (far cheaper for breakfast than what the hotel charge) Check in was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly. The only surprise was the city tax that needs to be paid directly to the hotel and paid on check in (other hotels we've stayed at usually ask for it on check out). The city tax was only about €8 in total. We were given room 515. Being on the 5th floor meant we avoided hearing any noise from the car park down beneath our window (apart from when the rubbish truck arrived) and the heavy dividing doors in the corridor cut down on noise from other guests. Our room also had a view towards the tower which was a nice bonus. The rooms are fairly basic but at least there was enough space to store belongings and hang clothes. Would have been nice to have a mini fridge for putting some snacks. The bathroom was good. The shower was powerful and there was plenty of space to put toiletries. The magnifying mirror was a nice addition. They only thing it was missing was an extractor fan but at least the window opened wide to quickly let the steam out. However the biggest let down of the hotel was the bed. They made no attempt to disguise that it was two single beds pushed together. The mattresses were not zipped together and the bases weren't secured together either. In fact, they didn't even bother to make the beds properly. Housekeeping just left two thin single duvets folded up on the end of the bed. The mattresses were extremely soft and we both found it uncomfortable. I also found the pillow very uncomfortable and woke up every morning with really bad neck ache. I had three terrible nights sleep as just could not get comfortable and was glad to go home to my own bed at the end of the stay! I would not stop at this hotel again just because of how uncomfortable we found the bed.
Hotel was well located very close to Spittelmarkt U-Baun station and not far from Alexanderplatz, Nicholas Quarter and Museum Island. Local area quite pleasant with a lovely Independant cafe opposite which did a good value and tasty lunch. Also a nice looking Spanish Tapas Restaurant although we didn't try it. The hotel itself seemed more like a budget hotel than a Best Western. The rooms were a reasonable size but the bathroom lacked shelf space. Our room was located in a separate annex building and had two singles that could be pushed together to form a sort of double but with two small single duvets, that said it was very comfortable. We had already opted for breakfast as part of our package. As a number of reviewers have already mentioned this was very poor value (especially compared to the cafe opposite). Price aside it was also quite disappointing, if you decided to have breakfast after 9:30am (which we did as we were on holiday) you were likely to find that a few items will had run out (and are thus finished for the day). This commonly included bacon, croissants, cake and some types of cheese and bread rolls. I can only imagine the desolate scheme that would confront anyone wanting to have breakfast towards the end of service (10:30am)! Staff on the whole were pleasant and friendly although there was the occasional exception. Overall a good budget choice but definitely give the breakfast a miss, at €13 each per day this was very poor value. Save your money and go to the great cafe opposite!
Good room, good shower, good location, but ...location of room if you sleep light is essential. We had an odd numbered room bordering the parking lot and the garbage containers. Clients arriving late slam car doors and talk loudly, which can go on quite long as we experienced on a Saturday night. Then, next morning early, other cars left around 6 with the same problem. On Monday morning at around 7 the garbage containers were moved to the street side with much noice, to be emptied around 8 and with the same amount of noice returned to the building. So try to get an even numbered room
Just a wee bit back from the Main Street but easily accessible for public transport about Berlin. Fairly central and great for walking around locally and as far as the Reichstag. Because of the location it seems quiet in the rooms this is an added bonus
Quiet location, yet a short walk to the metro and buses. The staff was super helpful and allowed us to check in early. We had the superior comfort room. There were three of us and, surprisingly, it was roomy enough. There were 2 twin beds side by side to make a double bed - roomy enough. The third twin bed was in a little alcove area so with a bit of privacy. The room was spotless, nicely decorated, good size TV with lots of channels, tea pot with tea, (instant) coffee and little cookies. The bathroom had plenty of counter space, a heated towel rack, good, hot water pressure in the (tiny) shower. We did not have the breakfast buffet. We went across the street for a delicious breakfast at half the price, as suggested by other reviews. All and all we were very pleased with this hotel. It was a great price, very accommodating, nice space.
Very nice hotel. No issues with it really. Shower was good and beds comfy. Nice and quiet. Also in a great location for the underground with the station only 2 mins walk away. All the staff were very helpful. Didn't take breakfast option - are over the road in a cafe for half the price ! Would recommend.
I had a 3-night stay at this hotel, and I can say it met my expectations. Breakfast was super-delicious, the hotel room was clean, modern and had everything I need (actually, I didn't have only slippers :-) ). The location is also a benefit, 10 min with the metro you're in the city center.
Comfortable and clean rooms, although the room was a bit small. Very soft beds/pillows (if that matters to you). Walking distance to Spittelmarkt station on the U-Bahn. Limited food options nearby but if you plan on eating outside the near vicinity, not a big deal. The nearby cafe Schäfer's is very good. Hotel staff was extremely friendly (speaks English). Note: the hotel provides an all-purpose soap (if that matters to you). Breakfast costs €13 per person, which we thought was a bit high but the food variety is great and the breakfast area itself is huge.
A nice convienant location within easy walking distance to subway and bus system , shopping and resturants Great full breakfast on site. Confortable room, friendly, helpful staff In a quiet part of the city.
We stayed here for three nights on a city break. I found it very well located. It was close to the city center, a train station was nearby plus a supermarket or two as well. The room itself was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. This is an ideal hotel to use as a base for a weekend in the city.
Our room was listed as "comfort" room, and it was very basic. Good bed, lighting ok, bathroom functioned well, never used the TV - would have loved a picture or photograph of Berlin instead. Professional and helpful staff. We did not want to pay $30+ for breakfast so went instead to a nearby cafe and loved it, breakfast for two around $10, including coffee.Close to the U-bahn station, even walked to the Museum Insel from the hotel. Our room was quiet, away from street noise.
We had a 4 night stay at the hotel and it had everything we needed. The room itself was small (with a tiny but powerful shower) but had everything you could expect. The room was always clean to a high standard and the staff at reception were polite and helpful. The hotel is in a great location just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Berlin. Would definitely come back again.
The price is good for the area. Breakfast restaurant across the street to save even more. Parking is conveniently arranged. Air con just about copes with autumn heat but it's standard for Germany. Friendly and helpful staff. Mattress a bit too soft for people with bad backs. 20 min easy walk to check point Charlie. 10 min to a hop on hop off boat or bus tour.
I am a pretty faithful Best Western customer and even have a Best Western Rewards card but I was very let down by this hotel. When I arrived I couldn't check in my luggage because the front desk ran out of coins for the luggage lockers and the front desk woman very rudely told me to leave my things there. Then later at check in, the room was fine but the toilet in the bathroom was covered in mold and the bathroom smelled of mold as well. Then the main door to the building where my room was, broke the following day and never got fixed during our (my husband and my) stay so we had to go down to the basement and walk through staff quarters and back areas and underground entrances to reach our room. I was so disappointed, I have never had an experience like this at a Best Western before.
Average hotel, rooms smallish, front desk staff nice and helpful breakfast not worth 13 euros, breakfast staff watched you like you were talking the cutlery home with youneed to have water and coffee 24/7 in reception area,
Good hotel close to centre for site seeing the only thing to let it down is the miserable staff one of which charged me twice for a drink and swore he hadn't and got quite aggressive when told on that basics I won't return which is a shame because it's a nice hotel
Rooms were incredibly uncomfortable and very little concern or follow up to problem. Yes we were offered to change rooms but a/c was supposed to be looked at and never was and our 2nd room for family also was poorly air conditioned.
This is one of those bland hotels that can be found in any city. Mid range price for clean and freshly decorated room finished in an off white pallet. The location is excellent and close to transport and main attractions. We have used Best Western many times in many countries and thought we knew what to expect. Reception was professional and painless. Two major shortcomings were a disappointment and cause us to recommend you look elsewhere. 1. Air Conditioning FAIL ..... Its quoted as being included in the room facilities list with a "snowflake" logo. The reality is completely different and there was no cooling of the room. We attempted to complain at reception and were given some double talk about the temperature being set to external ambient so changing rooms would not make a difference. The reality was the outside was close to 30 centigrade in the day and mid 20's at night. The "A/C" simply blew warm air around the room making it hot sweaty and hard to sleep. The foam mattresses on the beds made this worse. 2. WiFi FAIL. This worked at times but frequently stopped. Our experience was that it worked @50% of the time with frequent slow periods and drop outs. My home WiFi works better than this. Other issues were minor but irritating. We had 3 heavy fire doors between the lift and our room and the shower was blocked when we first arrived (fixed promptly but why are guests managing basic housekeeping).
Stayed 3 nights Fri, sat & sun via easyjet. Good price but think as weekend rates - think more expensive weeknights so that would affect rating. Mine is based on good value for money. 5 min walk from Spittlmarket U-bahn (but leave via exit for neue grunstrasse). 15 min walk to Alexanderplatz. In Mitte district. Was very quiet generally (not sure if that is usual). Seemed like a mixed area i.e. accomodation and offices, some retail. Small reception, but does have bar and internet access. ATM outside and some hire bikes. Had double room, but is two single beds pushed together, with single bedding for each - would prefer double bed. Room minimal style but large and clean. TV with limited channels but does have english world service. Large bathroom with powerful and hot shower. Has shower gel and soap. Also hairdryer. Does have coffee making facilities, but no fridge. Had fan air system, not sure if really air con. Wasn't powerful enough to cool room and on a hot night would be unpleasant. Area and hotel was quiet. Didn't have breakfast - was buffet style and looked nice. But 13 euros each bit steep (unless have big appetite!). Nice cafe over road (cappucino) did range of breakfast we got continental ones with drinks for two for 12 euros. Check in and check out easy. Have locker in basement for you to leave cases if you need to on day of departure (or if arrive early). If you go through passageway opposite by cappucino and tapas, there is a netto on the left as you come out. For same price and length of stay would stay again.
A nice and modern hotel in a very quite neighbourhood. Close to public transport, both U-bahn Spittelmarkt station) and several buslines. Also situated close to traces from Berlin wall, and with many tourist attraction in walking distance. Nice room, with good beds and a generous bathroom. Breakfast was served in a nice space in the basement, and well stocked for nearly every taste.
Great position, well cleaned, new furniture. Some problems with the matresses and pillovs. I'd prefer shelds on the bad.Very kind people at the reception. I suggest for the good price e for having a near metro station
We had room 323 a smallish but comfortable room at the far end of the hotel on the 3rd floor, the room was clean and beds changed everyday, This hotel has ample facilities for a short break possilble not for a longer one ,but there are numerous cafes bars and restaurants within easy distance( the Berlin public transport is nothing short of amazing) so even if you venture into the "centre" a bus or U bahn are never far away and its approx 10 mins or 25 walking. The hotel only serves breakfast (snacks are available from reception or room service but we did not have any so cannot comment on them further. The Bar is attached to the reception desk and is manned by the same staff as the reception, with a reasonable( not massive) choice of bottled beers wine and spirits. Staff are all polite and very helpful
Overall nice clean hotel good showers good size room the only thing to let it down was the barman who took money for my drink they swore he didnt making me pay again both me and my friend whitnesed it so on that basis wont be returning again which is a shame as I often visit the city and thought it was a good base to visit the attractions
A nice quiet area which is very close to the U-Bahn so convenient for travelling around. Lifts were quick, the hotel itself was quiet, the room was clean and well sized. The beds were re-made every day which we hadn't expected. There were locker facilities for storing bags before and after check in and out. Staff were efficient and polite.
Went for a weekend to Berlin. We stopped at this hotel. Price: great Location: 2 min walk from train/subway and busses. Local shops cafes restaurants and mini markets. Amenities: In the room: Bed wardrobe desk en-suite shower room flat screen tv air-con opening windows. Clean and tidy, on the small size and of a basic standard. In the hotel: polite multi lingual staff, small cafe type bar with drinks and food, lifts and stairs, lots of leaflets for visitors, and it looked like a city bike parking outside. For first timers download the BVG apps (2 of them) for transport info and ticket buying. 7.70€ for a ABC day pass (TIL 3am) that will get you from either airport to within walking distance of you hotel. As always would I go again? Hell yes!
There is a U-bahn station close by but otherwise there's not very much in the immediate vicinity. The room was good with adequate closet and nice bathroom. There was a water kettle and coffee/tea supplies, however they didn't resupply that when they serviced the room. The WiFi worked well. The walls are super flimsy. The doors have an automatic close which results in a hard slam if you don't control it. Since many people don't care about disrupting others, they allow it to slam which not only makes a lot of noise but literally shakes the walls. We experienced some hot weather and the air conditioning in our room didn't work. They offered to let us change to another room, which is quite disruptive, and gave us a fan which didn't help much. We paid $94.05 USD per night.
Visited with my husband and baby for a shortcut break. Very good location for walking to popular sights and attractions. Room was clean and had modern decor. A bit small for 3 people to share but good base for a city break
We stayed from the 5th of April till 8th of April. It was a very comfortable hotel. The matress of the bed is very comfortable. The hotel was very clean . The personel was very helpful and polite. The breakfast was perfect. The only thing why we don't give the five stars is because all the rooms don't have at least an empty refrigirator for a cold water , milk etc.
Stayed one night but sleeping was nearly impossible due to terrible mattresses which were old and formed a hole. Room was very small but clean. There are much better and even cheaper options near. This is not usual standard of BW.
I have been at the hotel a few times during the last couple year. Some of the mattresses on the main building need to be changed. If you ask to move to the newer building, be sure to not take a room in the corner where they keep the trash bins... Their pick up is rather early in the day...
Hotel is clean and tidy rooms are nice and comfortable close too the city centre the only problem we had were the receptionists didn't seem bothered in helping with anything also gave us out of date pamphlets for the hop on hop off bus so we went to the stops closest too the hotel but it doesn't stop there anymore so spent two hours walking around to find one that was being used hotel receptionist didn't seem too care when we told them
Moderately priced, located close to the Spittermarkt subway station and various eateries, this hotel would be ideal for both business traveller or someone on leisure travel. Courteous, helpful staff, clean rooms and amenities. My only gripe was the breakfast - it wasn't bad but could have been better. Nonetheless, not a detractor.
Its clean in a great silent place just 200 meters away from the ubahn station, the staff was very friendly, the only i can mantion is that the price for breakfast is to high 13 euros per person,we choose to eat outside breakfast and for 20 euros two peesons we eat great.
This is one clean and decent hotel in good quite area, close to the main tourist atraction in Berlin. Very close to metro station and you can easy explore the City. Definitely hotel for short tourist trip and don't expect something special. Good value for money if you looking for decent, clean and cheap Hotel in Berlin.
I was booked into the Best Western Spittelmarkt for a week on business from 3 February 2019. The hotel is convenient for the metro and attractions. That is the only positive thing I have to say about the hotel. Having worked in Beelin for some years I have stayed in a number of hotels and this was quite honestly the worst. The reception staff were not friendly or helpful and at no time did I feel valued as a guest despite being a loyalty card holder. On the Wednesday of my stay I paid €299 for my room without breakfast which I think is overpriced for a very small room. In the morning there was no hot water a basic requirement for a hotel I would have thought. On reporting this to reception I was informed that other guests had already complained and that the hotel was aware and it would be dealt with. At no time was I given an apology or indeed mention of compensation which I believe should have happened. I return to Berlin next week but I will never set foot in the Best Western Spittelmarkt again. The reception staff need training in customer relations of that there is no doubt.
The hotel was very warm and in a great location. The room was ok but they have to clean more better the bathroom. The staff was friendly. Even if you need an umbrella, you can ask to reception for it. I think it is valuable for money.
Nice clean hotel that was really close to Spittelmarkt U Bahn station. Good spot to explore different areas from. Room was simple and smallish but had all we needed. We didn't hear breakfast in hotel but instead went to cafe over the road. Not a massive amount to see/drink/eat within easy walking distance.
Hotel is located just a few minutes walk away from the U2 Spittelmarkt Station, which made it easily accessible via metro from most attractions. However, we didn't seem to find much things to do within walking distance from the hotel. We had a family room, which was surprisingly large and spacious - plenty of space for 4 beds and to lay out all our luggages. However, the staff weren't the most friendly and housekeeping wasn't the best. The complimentary tea and coffee in the room wasn't refilled by housekeeping, and we constantly had to request for more from reception, who told us that we had to pay for more. The same applied for toiletries - they weren't topped up by housekeeping and reception told us that we had to pay for them. This hotel also has a luggage storage area. However, unlike most hotels (where reception keeps the luggage in the area on your behalf), this hotel requires you to push and store your own luggage to the storage lockers in the basement. Given that there are limited lockers of large size, this may be a problem for people with huge luggages or those who are unable to lift their luggages into the lockers.
We visited Berlin for 5 days mainly to see the Christmas markets, but also to visit the sights of this lovely city. The hotel is in a brilliant location. It's set back from the main streets, so is quiet at night when you need to catch up on your sleep. However it is literally a few minutes walk from the fantastic underground system - the nearest station being called Spittelmarkt. Our room was on the 6th floor which was serviced by 2 good size lifts. The room was a good size and spotlessly clean. It was pleasantly warm and very comfortable. The heating system was easy to operate if you wanted the room warmer or cooler. We stayed on a b&b basis. The breakfast is served in the dining room which is in the basement of the hotel. It was a continental style breakfast but there was plenty of choice and everything was beautifully fresh. Lots of coffee and different types of tea, fruit juices, milk, cereals, croissant, bread rolls, bread, hams, cheeses, lots of fresh fruit, yogurts etc etc and you could have as much as you wanted. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and the reception desk is manned 24 hours. All the staff we encountered on reception spoke good English if your German's a bit rusty (like ours); the staff elsewhere were very pleasant too. Thoroughly recommended and we would definitely stay here again.
Spent 2 nights here mid December. Rooms were very clean, modern, warm and comfortable. Staff all very friendly and keen to help. Nice for there to be a bar downstairs too - potential could even be expanded with more seats and perhaps a cocktail menu? The downstairs dining area is massive - we didn't pay for 13 euro each for breakfast but did feel again that more use could be made out of this area, perhaps serving evening meals too? Overall a very enjoyable stay, would choose again if I come back to Berlin.
Arrived here late at night as a couple, lovely room, with kettle, tea and coffee, ample sized bathroom which supplied a bottle with all in one hair, and body wash dispenser at the sink and shower, both single beds dipped in the middle, plenty of sockets in the room, we struggled trying to read maps with the poor lighting. Breakfast wasn't supplied, we did eat once at the cafe across the road, which I wouldn't recommend, there is no shops around the hotel but on the whole it was a nice hotel
Visited Berlin for 5 days and was really pleased with the accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room although a little small was very clean and well appointed. The location was excellent for us. Three minutes walk from the underground which had links to all the city network.Good sandwich shop around the corner for breakfast as I felt 13 euros was to much to pay in the hotel. Definitely recommended for a city break.
Location is excellent being around the corner from Spittlemarkt U-Bahn on the U2 line a few stops from Alexanderplatz which is a main line station and which has access to Schönefeld airport and other U and S-Bahn lines. Day pass for all zones which includes the airport is 7.70 EUR. Don't forget to validate at the start of each 24 hour period for which you want the ticket to run. Within walking distance I didn't find much of interest in the area but then I wasn't there too long. There may be other things to find but although you won't be stuck, its not what I would call busy with meal, drink or sightseeing options. There is a Spanish tapas restaurant opposite and a cafe down the road but that's about it unless I missed it. The hotel itself is tidy enough but there is a certain aroma about the place. Our first room had a strong smell of smoke in bathroom and we were moved when we reported it. Reception had also warned us not to smoke when checking in prior to going to the room. I guess they have a problem with it. This also meant that despite having asked for a double we ended up in a twin. Although both had two sheets instead of one large one. Not sure if its a continental thing but when you're tall and used to sleeping diagonally a little faffy sheet isn't ideal and nor is falling down the middle. I didn't go back a second time because three rooms on a three night stay is a bit extreme so forgive my not giving an opportunity to rectify. I would prefer it was right first time. The room redeemed itself slightly because despite being small and having the wrong beds I had no further complaints. There are power sockets near the bed and the bathroom was clean and the water pressure excellent. So it scraped a 4 out of 5. You may be able to do better but for the money I think we did OK. Certainly better value than finding somewhere slightly nicer but spending 50 quid on transfers because you can't work out how to get there.
Lovely stay at this hotel. Very clean and tidy, staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely return, as it is ideally located near the underground station ‘Spittelmarkt'. Only criticism is that the cleaner was a bit slack - replaced towels we had clearly hung up (as per the sign to leave them hung up if you were happy to reuse) and didn't always replace cups and glasses that were visibly used. All in all a great stay!
I recently spent 3 nights here on business. My room smelled of cigarettes and damp. When i asked to change the front desk staff were very rude and unhelpful. A colleague of mine also said her room smelt damp and old. The staff are very rude and are of no help what so ever. It is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.
This hotel is situated in a quiet location but just round the corner from the Spittelmarkt underground station from where it is easy to work out how to travel to all other stations in Berlin. The staff all all speak very good English and were helpful with any of our enquiries. Our accommodation was located in a different building across the car park and the building had a secure entry . The room was spacious and clean with a kettle and tea/coffee provided . Only body/handwash is provided in the bathroom , so we were glad that we'd brought our own shampoo/conditioner, body lotion etc . There are a few good restaurants within walking distance which was very handy.
The hotel has a perfect location for experiensing Berlin. The hotel itself seems to have been recently renovated, and done so in a good Way.The checkin and checkout was very swift and good. The room were bright and the bed comfortable.
It was well situated for ease of access to transport, U station just around the corner. Easy to get to from the airport. Not in the middle of a busy area so have to travel further afield for entertainment etc. Not a spectacularly welcoming part of Berlin. The hotel is very clean and tidy, no issues there at all, but it does lack a bit of ambience, for example the bar was literally the end of the reception desk. So, if you like a hotel which has room to relax and recuperate in, in between slogging around the city, this is perhaps not the right choice. On the plus side it does represent very good value for money if on a tight budget.
We arrived early at this hotel. The receptionist were not welcoming. I asked for the informations because they did not told me freely. I booked the suit room because of the thought that this room will be as closed as the suit room we stayed at our previous hotel on our previos vacations. But it's not. The bed and pillows are not comfortable at all. The AC is not an AC at all. I need to open our windows every night just to be cool in our room. Which we can hear the noises from the street especially at 4am where i can hear the delivery truck delivering something that kept me awake. The room was not cleaned properly. We did not get a refill the toilet amenities. One time only that is when we arrived. Costly room for a 3 star hotel. The only positive is that they hold the room until we came. And free sparkling bottled water.
Room is good, no fridge. Location is great, an easy walk to all attractions. We had the breakfast twice, and thought it was really good. Lots of fresh salads, meats and cheese, and fruit. Reward members get it for 1/2 price. Staff spoke English, and we're very helpful.
We came to Berlin for the 2018 Marathon and booked our trip kind of late. The beds are really narrow (not even twin) and very uncomfortable.(i need firm mattress) The breakfast is very good. Nice buffet! The service is poor. They provide an electric kettle and coffee, however they don't supply clean cups or additional coffee if you don't ask. ( They failed to restock my coffee when they cleaned my room and also left dirty plates in my room) We called asking for coffee and they did not have any employees available to send it. (Or perhaps willing to provide proper service) We had to wait a bit. Would not recommend or return
We had three nights In this hotel and appreciated all it had to offer. Staff were very helpful, and spoke very good English. Bicycles were available to rent - and the staff were happy to order a taxi (that came in two minutes). Good location - close to a U-Bahn station, the canal and river (which made for good walks), several sights and a number of good restaurants. Our room was clean, functional and very quiet. The breakfast was extra but good. We enjoyed our stay!
this is one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. the staff is friendly & the breakfast is plentiful & delicious. we never stay at an American hotel, but this was within walking distance of the major sites, with many good cafes and restaurants along the way. the rooms are sterile and small but good enough. the beds are comfortable but I suggest you bring your own pillow. the pillows here are horrid. they are not really pillows, folded over mats- NOT GOOD. go, stay
I travel a lot for work and have eaten dozens of hotel breakfasts all over Scandinavia and Europe - this is by far the worst I've ever had. Scrambled eggs that are both burnt and runny? Boiled eggs that are green and taste old. Cheap juice concentrate... the list goes on. For 12 euro I expected a better breakfast. I hope someone in management reads this review and attempts to improve the breakfast offering... The room itself was decent, no complaints. Good central location. Breakfast isn't everything - just plan to eat it somewhere else!
Hotel is rather good, friendly staff and the rooms are good enough for sleeping, don't expect anything recreational. Beds are good, so is the bathroom. For a drink you should go outside, for example the hotel next door has a very good bar
Clean rooms. No problems with beds or bathroom either. Decent size rooms. Hotel advertises that they have air conditioning, which they do, but it only functions above 15 degrees. So if you are on a higher floor, your room could be screaming hot if the temperature is 14 degrees. Hallways have no air movement, so they kind of smell. Breakfast was large, but slightly overpriced (in my opinion) so we only ate there once. Easily accessible to transit, and 20 minute walk to Museum Island. Limited food and retail in the area.
Alright for one or two night. small rooms but good price for the quality. good place close to the city centre and quite place. there is still some distance to walk before to find restaurants and coffees
This is a fantastic hotel. Foyer is small but functional and they even designed in a bar. There are 2 lifts which is great so you are not hanging around waiting ages. Rooms are amazing. Really clean. My room had a bath & shower. Staff were also very helpful. Wi-fi great too as worked here for a couple of hours Nice quiet area with great restaurant opposite. I did not eat in the hotel. Really great hotel with fantastic value
Stayed here for a weekend with a friend, we got it for a very good price and were very impressed with the standards of the hotel, as well as the service provided. The room was very clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfy. The only downside to this hotel was the lack of English channels on the tv, but given that we only used the hotel to sleep in anyway, we didn't mind too much.
it's a very nice and quiet hotel with any comfort. The staff is courteous and helpful and the rooms are clean, quiet and very comfortable, even though ours was a bit small but perfect for our needs !!! Also the metro is very close, so it is easy to get to the center of Berlin !!!!
Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, clean and for its super location, very roomy. The breakfast buffet blew our mind. Compared to all Best Western we visited in the US, it was outstanding. We will come back to this location!
Selected because of decent ratings, central location and availability on air miles. Selected a comfort room, 203. Clean & comfortable. Large bathroom. Considerable outside noises some nights. Other guests occasionally noisy with violent arguments. Had to fetch ice from front desk/bar. No fridge or microwave. Value breakfast available from a couple of adjacent cafes. Seems not much selection in terms of nearby dining, but adjacent subways wisks you to many neighbourhoods only a few minutes away. Hotel breakfast 12 Euros; fine if you are hungry & have time to enjoy a good selection of food. No lunch or dinner at hotel. Good staff. Speak English. Adjacent to almost continuous U2 subway, which connects really well to other lines and city sites. Would stay here again.
The overall hotel is not bad. But the beds are third world. Just a edredon folded in half with no sheets. I really don't care if in the north of europe they don't make the bed or if in Guiné they sleep on the floor. I expect a hotel to have the minimum standard of civilization, to have sheets on the bed, and the bed to be made. In this hotel this is not even a hipothessi they offer. You sleep like you are in jail
This hotel is in a fab location, right near the u bahn. Clean room and lovely friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. breakfast is €12 pp so we opted for a lovely cafe down the road for €6 for both of us! No street noise, very peaceful at night, beds are very comfortable. Only green tea and earl grey tea so take your own teabags!!
Stayed at this hotel on a work trip. Beautifully quiet location in a side street very close to the U-Bahn and Leipziger Strasse. Didn't hear any traffic noise at all. All of Berlin's main central attractions are within comfortable walking distance. I could run easily to the Brandenburg Gate up the river and along the Unter den Linden. Hotel rooms are comfortable, sufficient and clean with free wifi. Hotel staff are wonderful. Very keen to help and sort out any concerns or needs. My German is terrible but they were only too happy to speak in English. I had no issues. An all you can eat buffet breakfast is available at the hotel - cost 12 euros per day. It is simple - cooked or continental but met my needs for a busy day at conference ahead. There is no evening dinner provision in the restaurant but that is not a problem as there is a tapas bar right across the street although make sure you have a German phrase book and then a short walk away towards town along the right side of the Leipziger Strasse is a very nice little Italian restaurant the Fontana Di Trevi. The other way up the Leipziger Strasse you can take a short walk to the Nikolai viertel area where you step back in time to a more traditional German setting and a range of restaurants. If you need a taxi, the hotel can call these up within a couple of minutes. A trip to Tegel is approx 22 euros and to Schoenefeld approx 46 euros. If you are working at the Estrel Hotel for conferences the trip is approx 18 - 20 euros depending on traffic. Make sure you take plenty of euros as many places charge extra for the use of credit cards.
Super location. Hotel has parking for 20€ per night. Tip: on weekends parking in this zone is free. Walking distance (15min) to DDR Museum or the Berlin cathedral. right at the corner there is a coffeshop with proper breakfast selection which is quite nice. It's also open on sundays till noon. We have flats on the groundfloor in the backyard and it was quiet and comfortable. Frontdesk was friendly and helpful.
Best Western in Spittelmarkt was ideal for our trip. Very well situated to get around Berlin with an underground station approximately 1 minutes walk away, spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful.
The rooms are VERY basic, old and stained carpet, weird unpleasant smell and cheap mattresses. Very noisy due to the doors on the end of each hallway closing loudly every time someone comes or goes. Not much around the neighborhood. Breakfast was not included but was quite good, with a lot of variety. Clean rooms except for the carpet.
Hotel is located very close to Spittelmarkt metro station. Clean rooms but small and very far to reception. Bathroom needs renovation. Front office staff are very helpful and give useful information about transportation and places to visit.
Cosy, clean, good beds and bath, nice staff. And the most important thing is - 200m from the Spittelmarkt U-Bahn!!! Hotel is placed in a silent clean area of the city, coming back at night was quite comfortable.
My wife and I stayed in this hotel in Berkin for two nights 2nd and 3rd .May . Everyone was very helpful and friendly The room was very nice and clean and we had no problems. The hotel is in a good location. The breakfast is excellent with a full range of food to choose from . Well done!
Very good, modern hotel. I booked it as I had BW gold card so could gat the points, good location near to Spittelmarkt U-bahn, 25 mins walk to Checkpoint Charlie in one direction and Alexanderplatz in the other.
This hotel is ideally situated in Mitte for walking to the main sights. U Bahn station less than 5 minutes away with the U2 line. Staff at reception all very pleasant, efficient check in and out. Our room was a good size for a twin room (209). Tea/Coffee making facilities in room (if required) we didn't use. We purchased breakfast each day at €12 and we thought VFM. Small bar at reception. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to family or friends and will stay again if ever in Berlin. I booked through Hotel website and had an offer of 3nights for the price of 2, so definitely value for money. Good job Best Western
Stayed here as a couple on a bit of a budget and having read reviews I knew it would be clean and pleasant. The staff were super friendly and extremely helpful. It is quite a large hotel as there are 2 buildings. The rooms were immaculate and the cleaning staff lovely. The single duvets were unusual on a double bed but the bed was comfortable. Not enough pillows for me. Great places nearby to shop and eat, Netto does some interesting alcohol. Superb coffee shop called Cappuccino across the road. My only moan was that we faced out onto a building site and the noise from construction etc started very early. I'm sure this will be finished in a few months but just be wary of one side of building 2. I would stay here again as it is perfectly placed and the Metro line goes everywhere.
First of all the hotel is at an excellent location (safe and quiet area, 2 minutes walk from the metro station ). The room was very clean and big enough for 3 people. The bathroom as well. The cleaning service was changing the towels every day. The reception was kind and willing to help us. I definately recommend it. We did not have breakfast at the hotel because it costed 12€/day extra. But there is a bakery with tasty panino for breakfast in the next corner.
We stayed here on a 4 night break with Easy Jet. Our room was in the 7th floor Spottlessly clean Room cleaned daily Very comfy beds but pillows too soft for my liking Try Schafers on the corner ..cakes and coffee we had breakfast there everyday if our stay. U Bahn just around the corner and easy to get to airport from there just change at Alexanderplatz. If you like walking most attractions easy to get to on foot. No "english" tea in the room only green and earl grey ..you have to ask at reception for supplies. You pay €1 in a refundable locker to store suitcases. Small bar in reception. Would we visit again...yes
Stayed here on a three night city break. Great location near an underground station. Pleasant decor. The room was a good size and clean. Nice bar which was open quite late in the evening. The staff were polite and efficient.
Visiting Berlin again due to work. Not the first choise but I was positivly surprised by the hotel. Big nice room, clean bathroom, breakfast ok. Very good positon of the hotel. Metro stop is very close. Receptionist very helpful.
Just back from 3 nights at this fantastic hotel! Location for all amenities is spot on! Breakfast is a must, loads of choice of food hot and cold, very clean hotel. Great place for a short break! ????Plenty to see and do in Berlin found the hop on hop off bus good value and especially the U-Bahn trains. Also found nice bars restaurants along the river spree which is roughly 10-15 walk from the hotel.
I was in Berlin for a few days (Mon-Fri) as a solo female traveller. My transfer had let me down so I had to get the RE7 train from the airport to Alexanderplatz and from there get the U2 to Spittelmarkt and the hotel was a short 2 minute walk from there. The check in was quick and easy and I paid the 15 euro tourist tax at reception. The room was comfortable with TV, shower etc but only earl grey/green tea bags so would suggest taking your own tea/coffee if not to your taste. It was a very quiet hotel (I was in room 525 which was at the very end of a corridor) The bed was comfy. I did not eat breakfast but was told by another guest that it was very nice. The location was perfect - 15/20 minute walk one way to Checkpoint Charlie and the same the oppposite way for Alexanderplatz. I was really only in my room to shower/sleep as out sightseeing most of the time but it was the perfect base for a 1st time traveller to the city. I loved Berlin and if I was returning again I would choose this hotel.
This hotel is just enough out of the way, but close enough to the city. You are within walking distance of Checkpoint Charlie. There are 2 U-bahn stations right near the hotel to give you access to the city. The staff spoke good English. There is a grocery type store near the hotel as well. Go through the open gated walkway across from the hotel to the next block, turn left and the store is there. World of Pizza is near the hotel as well. Food there was good. There is coffee shop across from the hotel that is also good. We arrived at the hotel very early, before check in time. They have lockers to store luggage until check in time. You have to pay for lockers, but you get the money back when you get the luggage.
There was 5 of us staying at this hotel, 2 people in a double room and 3 people in a 3 person room (1 double bed, 1 single bed) the single bed had its own section of the room out of the way of the double bed, could say it own smaller room. The hotel room was a good size with a nice clean bathroom. The breakfast had a great variety and all 5 of us found something that we liked. The location of this hotel is great not a far walk from all the museums and from there everything is within walking distance (as long as you dont mind a good walk). I would highly recommend doing a walking tour.
the hotel is located to a quiet neighbourhood of east Berlin 15 min walking from Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Platz and 2 metro station from them . The U station and the bus station are. 2 minutes from it. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. the room was not very big but was very clean, the mattress very comfortable and bathroom was basic .the wifi has very good signal to our room(8th floor). paid parking area outside of the hotel .the price of the room was excellent .
Located about a three minute walk from Spittelmarkt metro station, in a relatively quiet area of Berlin. There are plenty of places within a 15/20 minute walk, however. The hotel was well priced, the staff were friendly (for the most part) and the room was clean and perfectly sized. The only problem was that our room was freezing cold. We asked for extra blankets, which were delivered quickly, however, the heating in the room never really seemed to pick up.
Stayed here for a 3 night city break. Hotel was well situated within minutes of the ubahn. We were able to walk to most of the sights but we do enjoy walking. The room was clean & comfortable. We did not eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food. Receptionists were friendly & efficient. Hotel was easy to travel to from the airport via the express train R7 to Alexanderplatz then onto U2 to Spittlemarkt. Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel for a sight seeing trip.
Stayed here during an architectural trip for college, was a great location and not far to walk into see any of the sights. Lobby was being renovated at the time so we had to sit in the restaurant to wait for Taxi but understandable, hotel staff really friendly and helpful
Hotel is great. Easy access to tube 500m. Restaurants across the road, Spanish Tappa restaurant. Easy walk to check point charlie. Rooms clean, and quite. Cleaned daily. Coffee and tea in room. Showers good, bathroom fairly large. Service great, staff very helpfull. They arrange transfers, and bookings to what ever is required. Theatres, museums etc. Hotel not expensive.
Just back from a 4 day break in Berlin. Stayed at this hotel. Convenient location just 5 minutes from the underground, no fuss check in, friendly efficient reception staff, clean warm room, comfortable bed, just what you need after a full day of sightseeing. Would stay here again.
We booked this for 3 nights as part of a package deal with easyjet. It was a lot cheaper than alternatives, and we were very impressed with the location for the money we paid. It's walking distance to quite a few places of interest, and we walked to Checkpoint Charlie and Museum Island. It's less than 5 minutes to walk to the nearest U-Bahn station, and that's the U2 line which is ideal for Alexanderplatz and Potsdamerplatz. It was very easy to get around everywhere from here. The room was what you'd expect from a chain hotel. Adequate size and clean. The twin beds were a little small, but comfortable and we slept well. We thought the water bottle that cost €2.50 if you wanted any was a bit odd. The main reason I'm not giving this 5 stars though was the room service. After our first full day, our room was cleaned and beds made, and towels that we'd left on the floor were changed, but the maid left all of the windows open in the room when she'd done! Yes, the room was warm in the morning, but we wanted it that way because it was below freezing outside. After a long day of walking around in -5C, peaking at -1C, we were not impressed to come back to a room with bedroom and bathroom windows open. It's a security issue too. We were on the 7th floor so break ins were unlikely, but if someone had got in (from another room or window cleaner etc), pretty sure leaving the windows open would have affected our insurance claim. We put a do not disturb sign on the door for the rest of the trip. Overall a good place though and would recommend it to anyone wanting a city break in Berlin.
We decided to visit Berlin for the Christmas Markets and found this hotel, mainly down to the location. We went as a family, 4 people, and were very happy with the hotel choice. It's definitely in the no thrills category but then it falls into that price category. The hotel itself is brilliantly located, plenty of local bars and restaurants and a 5 minute walk from one of the best markets in Berlin - Weihnachtszauber Gendarmenmarkt. We had 1 x double room and 1 x twin room, both were very well equipped and very clean. The breakfast is ok, it's nice and a buffet style so plenty to go around however, it does lack variation. All the staff were very friendly and had excellent English, which was perfect as my German is not up to scratch! It also lacks a bar where you can stand/sit and enjoy a drink, they do offer a "bar" service but this is a fridge behind reception. It's not a huge issue by any stretch but would be a nice extra. Overall I'd definitely stay here again, it offers a brilliant location in the heart of Berlin and for the price it's certainly value for money.
Wonderful breakfast, wonderful price, wonderful location. Close to check point Charlie and it is 10 minutes away from the city center by feet. I suggest it for a fast week end in Berlin or for a business trip!
First the rating is always based on your expectation from the place you visited. - 1st Location , its near the center and 2 mins walking from an underground station (spittelmarkt) on U2 line which is 2 stops away from Alxendar platz station which will take you wherever you are , also 1 mins walking to breakfast place (nice ) and also the other side of the hotel is a bar .. so the location according to the price is perfect. - 2nd - Room was ok , I think we had the smallest room available with enough space , queen size bed + desk , heating with perfect , hot water in bathroom was also ok ,, nothing to complain about . 3rd Service - we didnt use much room service in the 6 nights we spent , we had our room cleaned 3 times , but the only thing which was terrible , the lady who wants to change the bottle of water daily , she didnt care about the sign DONT DISTURB , she entered the room twice (2 different days ) after knocking although the sign was there ,, and thats a privacy issue , the housekeepers never did it ,, only the lady for the water bottles , I took one star for this . Price , was the cheapest in the area by far ,, if you are not into hotel facilities like pool for kids and all of this , you better take this hotel .. Thanks best western for the hosting , I strongly recommend the place , but be always dressed in the room in case the water bottle lady opened the door suddenly ;)
Stayed for three nights to sight see round Berlin. Hotel was very centrally located for what we wanted to see, Brandenburg gate, checkpoint charlie, and gendarmenmarkt, and the city bus tours leave from the market square as well. Our hotel room was a good size, with a small table & chairs to sit at, and bed was very comfortable, not soft as some have said. we had breakfast included in our deal, which had a great range of food on offer, hot & cold, but there is a great bakery opposite that serves breakfasts cheaper than the Hotel charges(€12) and lots off bars/restaurants nearby.
Please notice if you are check in to this hotel, 2 pm is the check in time. Eventhough we saw other people came in at 10 am and they were allowed to check in. The front desk ladies were not that friendly but they speak English. They will tell you to store your luggage in the locker room behind the breakfast area. every locker need a 1€ to get the key off, you get it back when you get your lugage. The rooms are small, it have 2 single beds that push together to make a full size bed. The best thing here is the shower, very strong stream and the water get hot fast. There is a towel warmer rack in the bathroom that is a plus. coffee and tea if you want daily, need to ask front lobby, housekeeping didn't fill those up. You lucky if the housekeeping replace your soil towels. Breakfast cost 12€ per person, so we went to Shafer around the corner from the hotel to eat that cost much cheaper and taste good. U bahn station is around the corner from the hotel, this is U2. Hotel location is very close to everything, one U Bahn ride to Gendarmenmarkt, 3 stops from Alexanderplatz. Definitely location is a 5 stars.
Almost Everything was okay, location is excellent and serviceable by the subway station less than 2 minutes away on foot. Breakfast was what you would expect, its in the -1 level. Staff were very friendly for the most part. Only issue for me was that instead of a large bed, i got 2 small ones next to each other which made me wake up one night stuck in the middle... Still, overall, its not a bad choice for the mitte area
Loads of information already about this hotel and we can echo it. We stopped for a week and found the room reasonable size, clean and staff great. Tea, coffee, hairdryer in room along with tv with 3 English speaking channels. Bed was large with a really soft but comfortable mattress. Only thing missing was a fridge. The booking out day great facility to leave your bags in a locker for 1 euro and you get the euro back as well. Didn't use the breakfast area but it looked nice enough. We used several nearby places one straight across the road another in the corner and 2 more within 150m. All great prices and really friendly. Within 100m of the hotel is the sub way for route U2, which was really easy to navigate and recommend it. The location was great for getting anywhere in the city. When checking prices this was £200 cheaper than others nearby and when we go back again will look a this one again.
Four of us flew from Glasgow to Schonefeld airport. We boarded a taxi right outside the terminal building and the €42 to the hotel took around half an hour. As it was only about 11am and we could not check in until 2pm we left our cases in lockers which cost a refundable €1 and went out to explore the city. The hotel is very central with a nice wee cafe across the road. The next day we did a city bus tour and it was only a fifteen minute walk along to Gendarmenmarkt to get this bus. The tour cost €22 per person and did all of the city sites. The rooms in the hotel were of a good size and warm. The bathroom was spotless and given that we only used the hotel as a base and were hardly in it, it was satisfactory. All in all we had a wonderful weekend in Berlin and I would certainly return to the Best Western again in the future.
This hotel is in an excellent location and easy to get to u2 line underground and travel to nearby tourist spots. The hotel itself though is basic but meets needs. There was a drainage smell every time the bathroom was used and no fridge which seemed ashame. The walls are thin with next door complaining about noise even tho we were speaking with each other at a normal volume. Feeling constricted in this fashion seems odd to me in a modern establishment given we were indeed speaking and not partying or being loud. I would probably stay somewhere else next time located in the same area. Place could do with a refurb or update.
I was in Berlin for long weeeken with one of my friend and booked this mainly because of location. And it was amazing, underground station was 5 mins walk away. And even all the main attractions can be walked from this hotel. Good few restaurants around for quick dinner when you are tired from all day activities. Breakfast was ok for my but my friend really missed a toaster which they didn't have. Rooms were small than usual size but overall good three nights stay and very reasonable.
Arrived in Berlin on 27/11 at SXF airport. Used the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn to get to the hotel (cost around €4 each). The U-Bahn station is literally a two minute walk from the front door and right around the corner making it so easy to get to the city centre. Booked this hotel as part of a package deal and when we arrived, staff were very helpful and have a vast understanding of English and told us how to get to our rooms. There is a lift just around from the reception desk or stairs around the other side. However we had to pay a ‘city tax' when we arrived which was €17 so not too bad. Got to the room and it was very cosy but very clean. Perfect for what we needed. Looked as though the bathroom had been refitted as tiles were immaculate. Bathroom was small with a tiny shower but again, was all we needed as we hardly spent any time in the room. The tv has a good selection of channels such as CNN and Comedy Central. The hotel offers breakfast from 6.30am located downstairs in the basement but at €12 each seemed a bit expensive when there's a very good inexpensive cafe right at the very end of Neugrüenstraße which serves pastries and sandwiches in which you can sit in or takeaway. As we arrived quite late we opted for a takeaway pizza and brought it back to the room. There is a bottle of water in the room but there is a charge of €2.50 to drink it so would stay clear if possible. The hotel has a readily available map on the reception counter which has been very helpful to us during our stay. We checked out before 11 on our last day and as our flight wasn't until late we left our luggage in luggage lockers in the basement. Very handy not having to drag your bags around the city. This cost €1 to lock the door but you get it back at the end. Overall I would stay at this hotel again and would recommend it because of its central location, price and walking distance to Alexanderplatz (for Christmas markets).
Best Western have a good reputation and it's easy to see why. The hotel reception staff were friendly, accommodating, and easily able to assist with anything with a smile. The rooms are very nice and quite spacious for the price. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. There are plenty of amenities including tea, coffee and water. My only downside was not having any milk cartons present but I'm sure they normally do. Wi-Fi comes as standard and access is provided at check-in. If you take the breakfast option, then it can seem a little bit like a hostel situation but overall I found this to be relaxing as you can choose to sit where you like on one of the many tables or benches. There's plenty to choose from with breakfasts offering both continental and cereal. The location of the hotel means the hotel is very quiet and within very close proximity to the Spittelmarkt u-bahn making access to Alexanderplatz only about 10 mins away. I paid €56 including breakfast and would stay here again.
The hotel is situated in a great location to the city centre and only a 2 min walk to the closest underground station. There is a cash point out side the hotel and you can also rent bikes for €12 per day. There is a nice little breakfast cafe outside the hotel which is cheaper than paying for the breakfast at the hotel. We upgraded the room to a delux and even that was on the small side so I can only imagine that the normal rooms are could be very cramped. There is free WiFi provided in the hotel which isn't the best very slow at times. The rooms were quite and had A.C. and heating provided. There was a tv which had a few English channels on. The beds were a let down very small and the duvets were also small with only 1 pillow provided. Me and my partner were given twin beds which wasn't ideal. The bathroom facilities were good and a hair dryer was provided. The welcome to the hotel did not feel very welcoming in all honesty and when you arrive you have to pay a city tax charge which isn't a great amount. Overall the hotel is in a great location 10-15 minute walk to the city centre TV tower and it is cheap compared to.other hotels in this location. It is worth a visit if you after a hotel close to the city centre with no frills.
2min walk to the metro station. Maybe not in the center but just 2 stations from Alexanderplatz. The neighborhoods location is perfect for night outs. Its really safe and silent area. The beds were too soft but its ok for short stays. Breakfast was excellent. Averall it can be the best choice fir this value.
I stayed here with my sister for a 5 night city break. The reception staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. The room and bathroom were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a good choice of items including cheese, cold meats and pastries. The location of the hotel was convenient for the tourist attractions. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Staying for four nights with my 13 year old son and the hotel proved to be in an ideal location. The Ubahn was nearby, the area quiet and Berlin was easy to access. The room was clean, if a little compact but was made up for by the superb shower. The staff were very helpful and spoke good english. The breakfast range was good. A nice touch were the lockers to leave cases etc after checking out.
This hotel was booked for a two night stay for a city break to Berlin. On arrival we were met by a receptionist who spoke excellent English and got us checked in with minimum fuss. We were staying in the second block which was set back from the road and was very quiet (except on one morning where the bins were being emptied and some deliveries being made). The room itself was fine, clean and tidy. The bed was two singles pushed together to make a double. Normally this isn't a major issue, but the beds kept moving. The other thing about the beds is they are very soft, you will sink into them! In the room is tea and coffee facilities and a bottle of water. The bottle of water, on first appearance looks to be included in the room price, but if you read the room book, it costs €2.50. The bathroom was spotless and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water along with a heated towel rail. The location of the hotel is excellent, it takes about half an hour to get from Schönfeld airport by train and U-bahn. The U2 line will get you almost anywhere you need to go and with the Berlin Welcome Card you get unlimited public transport. Around the hotel is a few restaurants, Tapas Y Mas is excellent and the bakery at the end of the street is good in the morning. All in all a pleasant place to stay with s great location and access to public transport. The only thing that I'd change is the mattresses to firmer ones, but that's it!
It's a 3 star hotel that exceeded my expectations. The bedroom was compact, but clean and comfy. The shower-room was large by comparison, probably because their wasn't a bath, by the shower was powerful, sure woke me up. Opted for the buffet breakfast. It set me up for the day. Tasty food on offer, varied slightly on each of my 4 days. And the location suited me, the Spittelmarkt station was just around the corner and my Berliner Card took me from and back to the Airport, out to Potsdam, and around various parts of the city. And the fire alarm worked, had to evacuate the hotel on our first night. Thankfully wasn't a real fire. Hotel punched above its weight in my view.
The hotel is in a good location with the under ground only a couple of minutes walk. The hotel is clean and well presented, the staff always on the front desk to great and help in any way. The rooms are a good size and equipped well for a couple of nights stay.
Doesn't disappoint. Room was modern with very good shower and bed was comfy. The underground is a 2 minute walk from the Hotel and takes you around Berlin cheaply. There are plenty of cafes around Hotel or you can eat in – a little pricey.
Our experience with cleaners was rly good every time we come back from downtown we got new towels and room cleaned. Diner is always fresh and nice, i like this hotel and reception is rly good.I will come back.Greetings to Ljubo :)
Stayed here for a couple of nights. Great location, literally 1 minute walk to the U station where there's a train every 4 minutes to most places in Berlin. Nice little bakery/cafe round the corner which served up a pretty good breakfast for 2 for 16€. Quiet enough hotel, rooms are fairly basic but all you need really as I wouldn't think you'd be planning on sitting in your room when there's so much else to explore. Only 1 warning and that is the beds are super soft which destroyed my back but that's just a personal thing and would probably be okay for most people. Overall a really solid choice to base yourself in Berlin.
The hotel was clean and tidy with staff helpful, the only down side was the room was very small but as we spent the majority of time out that is only a minor gripe. The location is ideal for central Berlin and the transport links are great and very close by - 5 minute walk to the underground/urban train system. Easy connection for the train from and to the airport.
Me and my sister stayed at Best Western Hotel am Spittelmarkt the weekend 1-3 September. When we arrived to the room, the room smelled a little bit funky. We assumed the room hade hade been closed for a while . Open the windows, started the AC and spray some water in the shower and basin. When we came back tired late in the night the room smells pretty bad of sewers. We decided that we were too tired to change room. When we woke the next day the smell was still there but not as bad. We complain to the receptionist. The receptionist told us that there was nothing he could do till housekeeping had been inspecting the room. And told us to goo out fore the day and that they would solve the problem. When we came back later that afternoon the bad smell was gone, the windows was closed and the AC was off. We assumed that the problem was goon and that everything was in order. When we then came back early sunday morning the poop smell was back and really bad. I went back to the reception and asked for a new room. They said there were no rooms left and they were fully booked and that we could get a discount the next day. When we checked out the gave us a discount of 10% of 358 EUR. = 35,8 EUR. 36 EUR. For Sleeping in poop smell for two days. I told the receptionist that it is not acceptable. He told me that it was the best he coud do for now and that his manager will contact me. I have not been contacted by Best Western Hotel. And I strongly recommend you to choose an other hotel. And if you stay there and have a problem don't trust the staff. And stay in the reception until the problem is fixed. I am sure the hotel knew the problem whit our room. The hotel had no problem fixing the smell temporarily and the staff were not the surprised at all.
Great hotel ,3 stops from alexanderplatz on U bahn, had breakfast once in hotel , delicious and plentiful, supermarket two streets away, u bahn at top of street, also cafe , restaurant and bakery in Street, staff very friendly and helpful, comfortable bed and very clean room , we purchased the Berlin welcome card which was invaluable for ease of travel throughout the city and to airport, would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again .
Our flight home was cancelled so we had to arrange a night in a 3 star in order for us to claim back the money from the airline. We had stayed here on our second visit to Berlin so knew what to expect. The location is a little further from the city than we would normally like but we needed somewhere reasonable priced and it was just for one night. Room was very modern and the bathroom was great with both a shower and a bath. Disappointed in the marketing of the water in the bottle. Appeared to be free unless you read the small print. Also the safe in the bottom of the wardrobe. Odd place to keep it especially for those who struggle to bend. We had to ask for an iron to be delivered which did arrive within a few minutes. On the booking request I asked for a quite room. When we arrived we were told we'd been given a room upgrade. This room was at the front of the hotel and was incredibly warm and really noisy. We had got ear plugs with us so didn't request to be moved however we would have done had we been staying for longer.
This hotel is a great location for access to Berlin city centre and surrounding areas. We came from the schonenfeld airport by train which was 4 euros each and dropped us in the centre (near the tv tower) we then got the underground (alexanderplatz station) to spitelmarkt and the hotel was just behind a few office blocks. The spitelmarkt underground (U Bahn) is a 2 minute walk away which takes you quickly and cheaply around Berlin. A ticket costs 1.80 euros for a trip up to 3 stops or 3 euros (estimate) for unlimited trips up to 2 hours. There is a cafe across the road from the hotel which serves bagels, coffee, large breakfast every day. The picture is a large German breakfast for 2 people and was delicious. It was about 12 euros. The hotel itself is very clean and has the basic items.. hairdryer, safe, kettle etc. The t.v. has many channels (in german). I can't really comment on the Wi-Fi as I didn't need to use it. The shower is powerful and beds comfy. We had 2 twins which worked out fine pushed together. We forgot to take a international plug (we are from the UK) but we could get one reception with a 20 euro deposit. We booked out trip through an agency with flights and they didn't warn us about the tax charge (I think that's what it was!). Maybe most people know about it anyway, but I didnt. It was only 15 euros per couple though so not a huge deal. I would definitely recommend this hotel too anyone visiting Berlin.
On previous strips to Germany, we have generally stayed faithful to the Accor/Ibis chain who tend to offer the best locations and best value for money for our needs on our trips throughout the UK/Europe. We fancied a change on this occasion and managed to find another well known brand, Best Western, offering a price which undercut the Ibis by about £30 and offered a little bit more value for money. I paid £312.80 via Hotelbeds/Hotelopia for 6 nights in a double room (no breakfast) which I felt was really good value for money for peak season Berlin (last week of August). The 5% city tax was charged upon checking in and was around about 28 EUR (confusing as I paid in Sterling). I was pro-actively reimbursed around 6 or 7 EUR when I checked out as they confessed they had overcharged me. Not sure how they realised this without me querying it but I was grateful for this. I'm still not sure what core figure the 5% came off (the heavily discounted price that I pre-paid or their regular rack rate, it wasn't clear!) but it's not something I cared to quibble. Others may want to query this when checking in. Reception were friendly and efficient. They were happy to provide city maps, change large Euro notes into smaller ones, print off tickets etc. As some feedback, it was a shame we had to visit reception daily to request fresh teabags/coffee as I would have thought that this was something the housekeeping staff could incorporate into their duties. I know that when they make up the rooms for new guests they have to provide the initial stock of teabags as I saw them on their trolleys each day. We were really pleased with our room (409 on the 4th floor). As other guests have mentioned, the air conditioning is either not currently working or is ineffective in the August Berlin heat, so our windows were constantly open. The area is relatively quiet/residential but we did experience some street noise at night which we obviously couldn't do anything about as we needed to have the windows open due to the heat. A minor issue. The rooms are brown and cream in design. Simple and relaxing. The beds are typically set up a bit like two singles pushed together but we found them remarkably more comfortable than other places we have stayed with this set up. Nice clean bedding. The bathroom was spotless and looked brand new or recently refurbished. The shower cubicle itself was fairly small but we enjoyed the hot, powerful shower itself. There is a magnifying mirror, plenty of white towels which are changed daily and squeezy/all purpose shower gel/soap provided. It was nice to have the tea/coffee facilities and we did make use of these. We didn't switch the tv on but it was well located on the wall at the foot of the bed. The rooms are a fairly decent size for European standards. There was a full length mirror just behind the main door which put the mirror in the dark. Wi-Fi was good and fast although the password only lasts 3 days and you have to go back down to reception to get a new pass which (like the teabag situation) is just silly. Housekeeping were excellent and never knocked on our door or disturbed us once. Our room was made up daily to a very high standard and we were always wished good morning and smiled at which was lovely. Location wise, there are pluses and minuses for this hotel. The very immediate surroundings of the hotel offer very little in the way of facilities. There is a small cafe and tapas restaurant immediately opposite the hotel but not much else. One night, we returned home after a night out looking for somewhere to buy a bottle of water or grab a snack and nowhere was open (I'm sure the hotel could have obliged but we didn't want to pay inflated prices so went without). It wasn't particularly late either (pre 1am). On the positive side, this means that the area is generally quiet and safe. Also, during daylight hours, the location is great as Museum Island and all nearby tourist attractions are within walking distance and it's nice just following the winding River Spree. It's also excellently located for public transport. The Spittelmarkt U-Bahn station which is on the U2 line (that runs through Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz etc) is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel. This means you can connect up with the Airport Express trains and be at Schonefeld within 40 minutes. Overall, this was a really great stay. Clean, comfortable, good value, very good staff and a decent location. We would definitely stay again!
The rooms are very comfy and well made. The price of the rooms can be very cheap if you find them and the breakfast is not very expensive either. Another bonus is that all rooms come with good, free wifi
The hotel is very near the metro station. From Schonefeld Airport we got S45, U8 and U2, because there was no direct link to Alexanderplatz at the time we got there. It wasn't complicated to get there, the only problem with coming from/to the airport, with luggage, it is that in the metro stations you have to look for the elevator, because usually there are no escalators. The hotel area is so quiet! We had a room at 7th floor, to the street, but there was no disturbance from the street. Also, absolutely no noise from the other tourists. We felt like we are the only ones in the whole hotel, despite the usually crowded area at the reception and at breakfast. The room was very comfortable, with a big TV, placed in a very good spot on the wall, perfect to watch from bed. We had kettle&tea&coffee in the room. No refrigerator in the room. Hotel staff is very helpful. Breakfast was really great, with a large variety of food.
This is a newly renovated or newly built hotel, very clean, simply but effectively decorated and furnished, next to a few restaurants and cafés, in a quiet residential area, near to Berlin's downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful. It however suffers from a horribly weak wi-fi set-up, like you had back in the 2000's. We basically had a few minutes of wi-fi out of a 5 days stay. Seems silly to point that out, but to travelers trying to arrange the logistics of their stay in Berlin, this was a great hindrance. We repeatedly told the staff, they rebooted the system a few times, but it did not help. That was very disappointing point in an otherwise great experience.
friendly staff upon arrival. when we entered the room, my best friend and I were very impressed, the room was as described and shown in pictures and we were not dissapointed. this was the first time visting berlin and we are both glad we chose this hotel.
Cannot fault the location of this hotel! Good base for exploring Berlin via public transport (buy the Berlin welcome card travel ticket - exceptional value for money). My friend and I stayed here for a girl's city break and we have just returned. Cosy, clean and small rooms but perfect job if you don't need to spend a lot of time there. Shower was powerful, comfy beds, everything you need too (reception kindly gave us an iron and ironing board when we needed to iron creased clothes!). If I would say one thing it would be to watch out on keeping the bathroom windows open. We got quite badly bitten by little insects when the window was left a jar.
An ok hotel, the room was a good size, but the beds and pillows were dreadful! The straff was anonymous but helpful when asked. The location is really great and the price was good. The room was clean and nice, no complaints about that, although a bit bland.
Breakfast was OK, perfect destination-close to Ubahn from where you can travel around Berlin center. Quiet room on the 6th floor. When we arrived the receptionis was not very kind. I helped him to realise it and everything was fine than. Extra bad was not very big and comfortable but was OK to sleep on it.
This is a very comfortable and quiet hotel.. its only a short walk to the metro station. There are lovely cafes near by for a coffee or breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean. I would definitely stay here again!
Very nice hotel, clean and calm. Very well located in the U2, so very convenient to go to Alexander Platz, Postdamer Platz (Tiergaten), and everywhere inside the downtown. The Marx-Engel forum is very near, you can even walk there
We stayed at the best western with two young children. Lovely & clean hotel with comfy beds and amazing bathrooms. Extremely helpful staff at the front desk who were really knowledgeable & keen to help us. Fantastic stay and I would 100% return.
Location of the hotel is good, nearby supermarket, cafe shop, and some restaurants. Hotel Serivce needs improvement specially the housekeeping, since they don't give shampoo and replace your bedsheets even you stayed long. Free internet , however very slow... Management staff needs to cool down and know what customer service means. With that price can afford better hotels.
Booked 3 nights. Air conditioner does not work, and front desk is useless. They keep denying there's a problem even though everyone has their windows open and all the doors are propped open. Warning Do Not Stay At This Hotel! WORST HOTEL STAY EVER!!
We had booked 3 nights last weekend at this hotel. Landed up checking out after the first night for various reasons. 1. Room we got was not as advertised (small, no aircon, barely any space) 2. Shower was dirty when we checked in 3. Beds were uncomfortable 4. Room and corridor had a terrible odour 5. Construction site next door which woke us up early after night 1 6. We've sent an email asking for a refund of 2 nights (that we paid for upfront but didn't stay) and they have yet to reply. I'd avoid this hotel at all costs. And it'll be my last stay at any Best Western.
The location of this property was in a perfect area and the staff were pleasant and very helpful! The room itself whilst quite small it was spotlessly clean. I was surprised though that whilst we were staying for 4 days, the housekeeping staff made no attempt to clean our room or ask for empty bottles. That said, I should probably left them outside the room myself! The breakfast was good but a little overpriced and unfortunately this was the only meal you could have at the hotel. All in all though, I would not hesitate to return. :)
Nice hotel - close to down town Berlin. But I was surprised to realize that Best Western Am Spittelmarkt charges you 12 Euro for breakfast. Make no mistake: the breakfast is very good and the variety is impressing! But: we are dealing with the same uncertain price policy which has made the purchase of airline tickets a nuisance!! The price tag is not the final price! What's next? Will you charge us for towels or bed linnen??? Stop the fuzz!!
Very nice hotel to stay in. Great location to explore Berlin. Helpful staff. Dependable cleanliness. Breakfast was basic but a great assortment of foods. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BW Spittelmarkt!
Only staying for 3 nights but hotel it's self is quite big but it's always clean and rosy house keeping do an amazing job! Made our stay more comfortable! Nothing is too much to ask, over all, comfortable and clean! Hair/body wash in the room, fresh towels if you want them, out of the city atmosphere but only a 15 minute stroll to most vibrant places!
The hotel was clean & tidy. The bathroom was clean with a great shower. Tv in the room. The air con was great. Close to the underground. Didn't have breakfast but the cafe opposite called cappuccino was great. Didn't find any bars near by but didn't really look to hard. Easy to get to from the airport. Don't get a taxi use the trains & underground. Closes underground is spittlemarkt, which is a 5 min walk to the hotel.
My teenage son and I stayed here for 3 nights on a room only deal. The room was slightly on the small side but very clean with a decent sized wardrobe and a good sized shower room. It was a bit too warm and the air conditioning wasn't very efficient (but we opened the window! ). The room had a kettle with tea and coffee which was great. We had breakfast at the café across the road for about a third of the price of the hotel breakfast. The location is very good - we walked everywhere. It's about 10 minutes to Alexanderplatz and about 15 minutes to Friedrichstrasse. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.
The Best Western is only 3 min walk away from the U2 Spittelmarkt. When you arrive, exit towards "Neue Grünstrasse" and turn right about 50m after exiting the station into Neue Grünstrasse. After about 3min the hotel is on your right. Straight on the corner where you turn is a great bakery cafe, which serves a few different breakfasts and has tables outside in the sun. We haven't had the breakfast in the hotel (it looked nice- but the breakfast room is in the basement) and it is much nicer to have breakfast in the sun... The room was average sized, very clean, beds comfy and had all you need (kettle, safe, hairdryer). The AC was very quiet, but very efficient. The hotel also offers lockers in the basement- in case you arrive early, or leave late. It was very quiet at night, and the area felt very safe- we would stay again!!
We stayed for a week bed and breakfast and i could not fault the hotel at all really apart from minor points like you had to ask for more tea and coffee in the room but they were available freely at breakfast so you can take extra from there or like us we brought our own, i would say this if you are british, with it being on the continent you will not get milk sachets in your room so we were already prepared and bought some from B & M. The bed was SUPER comfy, i slept like a lazy cat every night lol. Bathroom had a VERY powerful shower well its more powerful than mine anyway, a hairdryer, shaving mirror, normal mirror. There are a lot of complaints on here about how hot the rooms are, i did find this but the weather was warm while we were in Berlin and i found all buildings in the city to be overly warm, i am usually the first to be cold too, but there is heating and air conditioning in every room so we just kept it on low air con all the time. There is a tv in the room with mailny german channels, there is bbc world news or service i cant remember which, but we did have fun trying answer questions on the german game shows with my limited A level german. Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, cereals, fresh bread, sliced cold meats, cheeses, roll mops, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, boiled eggs, croissants, donuts, jams, tomatoes, cucumber, yogurt, even chicken nuggets and vegetarian pizza one day, also tea, herbal tea, coffee, juices. The hotel itself is about a 3-4 minute walk to the tube just around the corner. There is also a tapas restaurant straight across the street and a bakery on the corner where the tube is. You can hop on the tube at night to get to Alexander platz, Friedrichsstrasse, everything is pretty easily accessible, tube trains run around every 3-4 minutes during the day and 8-9 minutes later in the evening. There is a small bar in the hotel but it is actually part of reception desk so i didnt really see many people using it. There are also 2 computers in reception to use free of charge. I can highly recommend getting the Berlin Welcome card, we paid 46 euros each for a 6 day pass, covering all Berlin and Postdam, i ordered this online before i came out and we collected it at the airport so we were able to use it for travelling to the hotel straight away. I would definately use this hotel again.
The Hotel Best Western is the right choice for visitors who are searching for a combination of charm, peace and quiet, and a convenient position. It is a small, comfortable hotel, situated in the central Berlin. The staff offer an attentive, personalized service and are always available to offer any help to guests. The hotel is arranged with double lift. The hotel provides a Wi-Fi service. I enjoyed my stay in this hotel.
Pluses: A typical BW hotel and we liked almost everything. We always prefer BW hotels and this didn't disappoint us at all. The room was nice and cozy. The air-con and bed were awesome, resulted in a sound sleep at night. The hotel staffs were professional and helpful. The location was nice, with a nearby metro station, grocery shop and ATM booths (a private one next door, and a bank ATM within 5 walking minutes). There was complimentary tea/coffee inside the room. The closet was big enough for two of us, with a locker. The bathroom was spacious, and housekeeping was good. Minuses: We would love to have a refrigerator in the room to avoid storing things (for us, some medicine) in the refrigerator at the reception. A bigger locker would be much better. The shower was too small. There were few permanent stains in the bathroom and on the carpet, but those were very much unnoticeable unless you scrutinize. Though there was nothing to complain about the professional reception staffs (we received whatever we requested), friendly smiling faces would not hurt (it might be cultural differences as well).
Great location for all site seeing in Berlin. Lots of places are walkable and if not there is a U-Bahn stop very close by. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and always cleaned to a high standard. I would use this hotel again if I returned to Berlin.
Our room - 319 was clean and had lovely bathroom with an excellent shower. It was really quiet apart from in the morning when the building work behind the hotel started but it didn't cause us a problem. I found the bed to be really comfy, also the pillow. The room wasn't huge but it was certainly big enough. The breakfast was really quite good except for the fact that the Germans don't drink normal tea and I really missed having a good cuppa. If you love your tea take your own teabags!!
First night room was small and The wi-fi Did not work at all. We were moved to another room with more space and a working wi-fi . Outside location quiet boring area but i guess It is in The middle to have quiet close to all sights.
We have just come back from Berlin and stayed at the best western hotel in spittlemarkt. We travelled from Tegel Airport which took about 30 minutes. We arrived before our check in time but our room was ready earlier than check in time. The staff were friendly and efficient. You have to pay city tax which isn't included in your package, this is the same in most city hotels. I had requested a comfort room so received a bottle of water and a double bed. The room was nice and clean. The TV only had one English Channel but we didn't really use it during our stay. The beds have bed side lights and plug sockets and there was a safe in the room for no extra charge. The bathroom was decent and provided shower gel, the showers were quite powerful. It also had a very good mirror in there. Tea and coffee were provided although they had no English breakfast tea and when I asked at the front desk they said they only had earl grey or green which was odd. We didn't try the breakfast but the dining area was nicely decorated with lots of room. There is a Lidl about 2 streets over where we bought tea and little pastries for breakfast. The hotel is very close to the local station of spittlemarkt which uses the U Bahn train services, I recommend downloading an app called Berlin subway as it plans all the routes for you. It was very easy to get around and takes you to some of the further out locations. The Berlin welcome card is worth buying as it saves you up to 50% on most attractions which saved us a huge amount and covers all trams, buses and trains during the time you book it for. Quick tips: Book the reichstag in the advance to be able to walk up to the top of the dome. Tipping is usually about 10% Comfortable shoes if you are exploring. Recommendations: Botanical gardens Natural history museum for the T. rex skeleton Topography of Terror TV tower for lunch (360 rotating restaraunt- book in advance!) Stayed may 2017 as a couple.
The reception was quick and efficient and we soon got to our room although we found throughout our 4 day stay that the lift was painfully slow. The room was just what we expected, warm and cosy with a comfortable bed. Shower worked fine. From the hotel we walked to most of Berlins attractions which suited us as we are big walkers but I must admit we were very exhausted at the end of each day. There is a tube station nearby and has good connections to all the Berlin attractions and to the airport. We thought the breakfast was a bit expensive so we did not bother with that. The Wi Fi worked in the room fine all the time we were there. There is a supermarket just a short walk from the hotel.
Three of us stayed in a junior suite which was had ample space, was clean with comfy beds and a good shower. Hotel it located under 5 mins walk from the u2 station which is really convenient for getting around. There are a couple of nice cafes nearby but not much else (the tapas restaurant across the road is not good). Staff were friendly and helpful, the bar is just in the reception area and can be slow as the staff serving are also the reception staff
great location as tube nearby. lovely breakfast and no problems with dietery concerns or being in a wheelchair as plenty of room in hotel and great space in disabled room with brilliant wet room and seat in the shower
We were at this hotel for 3 nights. The room was nice. Beds were really comfortable but it gets very hot at night. The room was cleaned every day and we had absolutely no complaints about everything other than the WiFi. We were only able to connect now and then. Eg we managed to watch a film on my sons laptop on Monday night but on Tuesday night we couldn't get a connection at all. Anyway it was really nice apart from that. The staff were very helpful and even printed off a schedule for us to get to Sachsenhausen.
The twin room was small for two, but clean and cosy. The bathroom was clean and had a window and a drier. Easy and straightforward checkin and checkout. The breakfast is quite expensive, when you can have similar right across the street, 100 m away. The location is very good, basically adjacent to the museum island. We would stay here again but only if we get at least the same great rate, which was about 60 euros per night. So try to look for similar prepaid offers for this hotel, otherwise it is quite expensive for what it offers.
Great location, near the U2 red line, stop Spittelmarkt. Can walk to the museum island and Alexanderplatz. Amazing breakfast, lots to eat. Room nice and tidy, just enough for a good night sleep. Staff helps in what you need, always avaliable to help.
Nice, clean hotel. Staff professional and friendly. Rooms comfortable if a little small. Restaurants and drinking establishments in the vicinity. Building noise a small problem, but not forever is it? Only very small problem is wifi a bit variable. Hence loss of star. Breakfast was plentiful. All in all a good experience. Thank you.
This hotel offers best value for money. Clean rooms, very good breakfast, friendly personal, 24h reception. It is very close to U-Bahn station and also very close to main attractions from Berlin (Postamer Plats, Alexander Plats, Check Point Charlie). Even if the signal for wifi is not the best in the rooms, this hotel has 5 stars from my side.
The hotel's location is pretty good: approximately 50 minutes from the airport Tegel; it can be reached using the bus X9 and metro line U 2 from Ernst Reuter Platz (11 stations from there is Spittelmarkt). Also it is quite easy from the hotel either to go to Potsdamer Platz (4 stops - Olympia Stadion direction) or to reach Alexander Platz (third metro station in the direction of Pankow). I warmly recommend Berlin Welcome Card (4 days cost 31.5 euros; you can use it for all kinds of public transport, being provided with discounts for various things). The hotel staff is correct. Rooms are spacious and warm (which is really important as previous days in Berlin were windy and cold). However, I have two more or less important remarks: a) there is no fridge in the room (if you want to leave some food at the windowsill, the wind will probabaly blow it); b) "designated" area for smokers (in front of the hotel) is unprotected from bad weather conditions (wind, rain...)
Hotel is situated close to the Spittelmarkt underground station. Location is convenient and easy to reach. Hotel is tidy and breakfast (not included into room price) has pretty good variety of dishes and it is tasty. Only downside during our visit was that there was no proper/none WiFi -connection in the rooms, despite it was advertised. This is something the hotel should either fix or stop advertising.
The hotel is located near metro so you can visit all tourist attractions places. It's quite clean but their wifi is horrible, if you are lucky you can use it but normally it has bad signal. The staff were not friendly. Some of them are very rude. When you ask something, They response you with very bad manner. My girlfriend has asked why she can't connect to Internet. He responses her " I am not a technician. I don't know why" and when we asked about the shuttle bus to the airport. He wasn't helpful or try to help. The location is good but the hotel should mind more about their staffs. They treat the customer like they are 1 star hotel.
Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Hotel is in quite a quiet location although being very close to the sights. The underground Spittlemarkt is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, which made it very handy to get the hotel from the airport. Small room but was just what I needed for a short trip to Berlin.
Rooms are well appointed, clean, spacious and well equipped, with plenty of power sockets for all a guests modern charging needs. The staff are helpful, courteous and professional. The breakfast is well arranged, plentiful and well prepared with a more than adequate range and choice. For the price range, this is exceptional value for money. The nearest U bahn is a two minute walk away, with Leipziger Straße also close by, running straight to Umter Dem Linden and the centre only 15 minute walk. Can heartily recommend to anyone taking a short break.
I an't really add anything about this hotel that hasn't already been said, it was everything we wanted and i have no complaints. we were on the 4th floor, facing the road and the only noise we could here was that of fellow travellers wheeling their suitcases along the cobled street, we did however had the window open so our own fault. the hotel is within walking distance of allthe major tourist sites which was good for us. we only slept at the hotel and were up showered and out by 9am and not returning until late at night so i can't coment on daytime noise. we didn't have beakfast at the hotel and we did try the bakery at the end of the street, a little over rated in my opinion with a choice of dried up pre prepaired egg dishes and rude staff that insist on having the right change, a little scarey for someone that doesn't speek German. the small kiosks in the underground stations looked very good but my favourite would have to be the buffet breakfast at Galeria Kaufhof ( a huge department store in Alexanderplatz) for just 10 euros
Booked a premium comfort room that is supposed to be a decent size in a quiet location. It was located next to a building site - builders were moving portacabins on site at 6.00 AM . see picture. Twin beds very narrow and shallow mattresses. Poor lumpy pillows. Small room with noisy heavy doors, no soft close- hear slamming doors frequently. No black tea available even at reception-fruit tea, peppermint & Earl Grey. Staff were efficient , room was very clean and serviced every day except tea/coffee never replenished. Air con was either not working or totally ineffective. Wifi not great . Hotel is not in an interesting area though it is just a few minutes from the underground. Best Western card holders get one free bottle of water. its just not good enough really.
We had a room for 3 with more space then expected. Everything was clean. Rooms are regular rooms with no extras. But the price is OK for that. Only bad thing was the WiFi. It was working only in one corner of the room. Staff was friendly. I had a excellent breakfast across the street. So no need to book the expensive hotel breakfast. Metro is very close. So the hotel is excellent located to explore Berlin. For that is it a good choice if u don't need a WiFi.
Stayed here for 5 nights and we enjoyed the hotel. I would class the hotel in the budget hotel category. The room was quite small but modern with good furniture and very comfortable beds. The shower room was spacious and bright and the shower itself was powerful. Both rooms were spotlessly clean. Reception was friendly and efficient with plenty of maps and advice freely given. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel but noted the very small breakfast area. The hotel does not offer evening meals, which was not an issue for us. The one disappointment is the bar area, which is, in effect, a counter at the side of reception and about 8 seats scattered about the reception area. The hotel is reasonably near the main sites with the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag being about a 30 minutes walk. Alternatively, the Spittelmarkt Underground station is a 2 minute walk and has ticket machines at either end with an English language option enabling you to buy all kinds of tickets and travel cards. Overall, we were really pleased with this hotel and would happily use it again.
excellent hotel especially for the money we paid !! very close to a subway, very modern and great reception. free wifi was good however we did not have breakfast. All reception staff were great and helpful - gave useful info. Our bathroom and room was brilliant. ALso it is close to a supermarket.
The hotel was okay, nothing special. Service was very nice and staff was friendly. The bed was not comfortable, neither were the pillows. The location was 15 - 45 min walk to most popular attractions. I would not stay any further than this location if you plan to walk everywhere. The wireless internet connection was terrible - would log us off quite frequently.
We had a nice spacious room. The bathroom was just as big. They had coffee making facilities which was appreciated as most hotels in the places we stayed at in Europe do not provide this. There was no fridge in the room which we felt was an inconvenience as we would like to keep our bottles of water cold especially when it is warm outside. Solution was to keep our bottles in the fridge with reception. The place is walking distance to the city central square. Staff were pleasant and helpful. One of them suggested we do the free walking tours instead of using the hop on hop off bus tours which was great advice. Breakfast was good although no toaster was available to toast bread. There is a supermarket and patisseries nearby. All in all, enjoyed our stay here. Would stay here again.
Very good hotel - cheap, clean and in good location for traveling in Berlin. Very simpathy staff, and keep your room clean every day BUT! Very weak WiFi. Breakfast isn't included(but very tasty) Any way, I've pleased!
We were in Berlin to meet our exchange student, 2 years after hosting her in the USA. The accommodations were very nice, friendly staff, and off the hook breakfast. The location was very convenient to navigate around. Highly recommend to stay there.
The room offered the expected facilities however the bathroom was above standard. Lovely to have a soak with lots of hot water in the spacious bath/bathroom after a long day exploring Berlin. Breakfast was adequate located in the basement of the hotel with themed rooms. The reception staff were helpful when asked for restaurant recommendations. We had a superior room which was definitely better and more comfortable than the standard room our daughters were in. I would stay here again if I couldn't find a cheaper hotel that offered the same standards.
Good standard and well positioned only 100 yrds from U bahn for onward travel. Good local restaurants and walkable to Mitte for a bigger choice. Breakfast a bit samey but this is standard fare in Germany.
This was not a good experience at all. Very expensive for what we received. Basic small rooms. Terrible internet connection. When we complained staff at desk were not very helpful. He advised someone would look into it but the next day we were told no one was called or looking into it as it was sunday. The receptionist eventually offered change of room for better connection so we had to move rooms. Packing up all our belongings to move into main building. Very inconvenient. Internet was a little better but not great. So if anyone is booking this hotel ensure to ask for room in the main building. Otherwise u will have no Internet. Breakfast is 12 euro per person. Total rip of. Limited choices and no hot food. We were told it was 6 euro and then asked to sign for breakfast which was 12 euro again we enquired and were told it is definitely 6 euro per person but on checking out was charged 12 euro per person until i complained about it as we were not told tat. Staff were generally unfriendly and unhelpful. Would not stay there again. For what we recieved this hotel is way overpriced.!
Arrived at 00:14 no food available, only little sweets, with bad reception costumers services information. Only breakfast available at 6:30. No vending machines, no possibilities around, an hungry night...
Great location for sight seeing. Clean and basic which is all you need for a short break to see the sights. Staff are helpful and is very close to Spittlemarket train station About 15 min walk to c3ntre of all bars and restaurants in Berlin
This hotel lets down the Best Western Brand, badly. It was more like a hostel environment in the annexe, where we stayed. The Wi-Fi did not work for four days - each day we were told "the Company has been called". The tea/coffee were not replenished automatically - never come across that before. Soap and shower gel dispensers in bathroom. No proper lounge/seating area. No pictures in the corridors or rooms in the annexe - do not know about the main hotel Expensive breakfast. Not at all central, but very near train station. Not a happy Best Western experience, and we are cardholders :(
good for business trips. Best Western Standard. Walking distance to Friedrichstrasse and very close to the German Foreign Office. Breakfast also availible in a minute walk. Metro station Spittelmarktb is around the corner (200m)
This hotel is in a quiet area not too far from the city centre but still a good 10 min walk! So book something closer if you're not a good walker. Hotel was clean and reasonably modern, but the wifi was terrible. Tea and coffee making facilities, a safe but no fridge. We could have booked breakfast with the room rate for €12 but it is FAR cheaper to have a nice breakfast at the sandwich bar on the corner 20 mtrs from the lobby, called Sandwich Art, where we had coffee and a generous size baguette for €4 each, bargain! All in all nice hotel and good value for money.
Convenient position for sightseeing. It seems to be in a residential area and is quiet. The room was very clean. Helpful reception staff. Well positioned with cafes around. They do serve breakfast, but there are plenty of cafes nearby too. There is also a cycle hire right outside.
We booked via Gala Hotels. No problems at check in, we were expected and the reception staff spoke very good English. As a Best Western loyalty card holder I was given a complimentary bottle of water (worth 2.50 Euros), my card was not credited with points as the booking was not made directly through the Best Western website. Our standard twin bed room was on the 6th floor. It was quite small - much smaller than those in the website photos. But everything was clean, there were two 2'6" beds, TV, desk, kettle, wardrobe, safe, and (very efficient) air conditioning. The TV channels including two in English - BBC World and CNN. The bathroom was a good size. Very clean. Full size bath, shower, heated towel rail and hair dryer. The room was quiet. The hotel is not on a busy road - I would not have thought that any room would suffer from external noise. We did not try breakfast (offered at 12 Euros). There is a small cafe opposite the hotel and a coffee shop just up the road - both provide breakfasts at good rates. There is not much to do in the area (which is why it is so quiet), but the U-Bahn is just a two minute walk so it is very easy to reach any part of Berlin. When out exploring we walked to Alexanderplatz, Check Point Charlie, Museum Island - all are within a 15 minute walk. Apart from the slightly smaller than expected room my only negative comment is that the bottled water supplied in the room is charged at 2.50 Euros per bottle. There is a note to say that extra bottles can be purchased from reception - but it was not immediately obvious that the bottles put in the room were not complimentary. I would use the hotel again unless there was something available centrally that was cheaper.
It is very close (200m or so) to the U2 bahn (Spittelmarkt) and one can also reach Alexanderplatz with 15 minutes walk. The place is really quiet. Our room was absolutely clean and comfortable. Good value for the money (mostly because we paid the whole stay in advance). My friend wasn't able connecting to the hotel's wifi.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for three nights in August. The room itself was spacious and clean, the staff all very friendly. While the hotel isn't near too many restaurants it is still only 10 minutes walk to many of the busy places to eat.
We stayed in Berlin for 6 days in July. It was pretty hot and a bit muggy, but not too bad. We took a taxi from the main train station to the hotel and it cost just over 10 Euros. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood and while on the east side of the center it was close to Museum Island (maybe a 10 minute walk), the Markishes Museum, and the Reederei Riedel river cruise docks. There are restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner within easy walking distance. The first night we walked to the Spree Canal and east to the last bridge before the river. There was a food fair on the bridge and different music (jazz, opera, crooners) playing from boats on the river. Very cool. There is a cheap Netto market through the archway just opposite the hotel and left on Alte Jacobstrasse where you can get acceptable German white wine for 2-4 Euros. The room was quiet, clean and while a bit tight more than adequate to our needs. The bathroom was actually larger than I am used to in Germany. There is a breakfast room in the basement and while its a bit pricey at 15 Euros it had everything you could want. The desk staff were helpful with recommendations about sights, places to eat, and getting the lobby computer to work when pre-booking in for our flight. Plus there is an ATM outside the front door, and the Spittelmarkt subway stop a short block away. My only grumbles are the elevator which broke down twice, once with me in it, and the fact they have no ice machine. They will however provide you with cups of ice to cool glasses of wine, and there is a bar in the lobby.
We came back to the BW Spittelmarkt after some time after staying in some other hotels. We had comfort room, standards are too small, comfort is basic but okay. Location remains excellent, staff is friendly and efficient. They have parking places and offer breakfast, but offer at corner of the street is better. Prices of the rooms are steadily going up, but it happens with more hotels in Berlin. WiFi in the rooms is poor.
We recently stayed at this hotel whilst visiting Berlin and it was good for a couple of nights. It was in an alright location which was close to stations or about a 10 minute walk into the centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is available on site for a fee. I would stay again.
Friendly and helpful reception staff - helped me with some German words and gave me map and advice. Good location - only a three minute walk to underground metro. Not too far a walk from tourist locations such as Checkpoint Charlie, and then from there most people just walk to the other attractions. Is a 25minute walk to Potsdamer Platz, shopping area. Couple of bakeries/coffee shops around, but you'll have to walk further or take metro for decent food offerings. Hotel is not on a main street and area is quiet, so good for those who like a quiet hotel. Room was new and in good shape, not big size, but big enough. Had tea and coffee set, but no fridge which was disapointing in regard to not having fresh milk on hand or cold beer. Bathroom was modern, clean and shower had good water pressure and water went hot. Has only hand/body/shampoo soap in one bottle. Wifi was weak and patchy. When it was there it was sufficient for emails, but facebook was slow and i couldn't view youtube videos etc. Did not have breakfast at this hotel so can't comment. Like this hotel in regard to it being close to metro, but also being walking distance to tourist attractions. I got a good price for the room too. If it had a fridge and good wifi it would have been perfect.
Was not clear why I should show the confirmation letter. It could be possible that the booked had been done by other people because maybe I don't how to do online book. The reception could ask just passport. What will happened if I not have my mobile with me to know confirmation? I couldn't get room?
Great location, right near a U-Bahn station and very centrally located. 15 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz. The rooms are basic, but clean, comfortable and very well serviced. If you're going to be out all day and just using them to rest in at night, they're more than adequate. The breakfast buffet is great - diverse, and great coffee! The staff are really friendly and helpful and both times I've stayed here they've been great.
MyHusband and I stayed here for a weekend break in Berlin, we found that it was well located to enable us to explore the city to the max. The hotel itself is a short walk from the UBhan and within minutes takes you into central Berlin to see the sites. Breakfast was a little pricey but there is a couple of cafes to choose from instead (one opposite). There was also a nice Spanish Tapas restaruant located opposite the hotel too, great if you wanted a drink before turning in for the night. Rooms were clean and more than adequate and we found it was quiet too. Wifi was reached both in our room and in the lobby - no complaints. We had a late flight scheduled but was able to leave our luggage in the lockers that they provide. All in all a very nice hotel and would highly recommend.
The hotel is greatly located in the center of Berlin. The metro is only 1 block away and you are walking distance to Gendarmenmarkt and Checkpoint Charlie. The rooms were modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and they were able to include a baby cod for our daughter in our room. The price was also very fair. The only negative thing about the hotel is their Wifi. The signal is horrible and, if, you are lucky to log in the quality is bad.
Once safely checked in, all the joys of East Berlin are at your fingertips, and within energetic walking distance. Lots of possibilities if you are a foody, and the U-Bahn is just around the corner. A good spot if you need a quiet night's sleep in a capital city . . . But a pity only Breakfast is available 'in house'.
Very comfortable hotel with excellent location. Just a 3 minute walk from U-bahn. 15 minutes walk from Alexander square and Museum quarter. With good breakfast and clean comfortable rooms. Highly recommend to all kind of visitors.
Very nice hotel, with clean rooms, wifi, a nice breakfast (12€ fee). Another very nice things about this hotel was the location. My partner and i was able to do most of our sightseeing by foot. I recommend this hotel strongly
Dreadful. Would not recommend and would not stay again. Staff argumentative, rude and unhelpful. Room VERY cold. We stayed for 4 nights and it never got warm. This is summer and the room would not warm up even with windows open. Heating does not work. Bed too soft - no support. Housekeeping lax. Did not replaced used items such as coffee, tissues. We have stayed in Best Western all over the world. This would be the worst Best Western we have ever stayed in . They need to lift their standards to keep up with Best Western's high reputation.
The hotel was ok. The rooms was clean we arrived, beds comfortable and the breakfast was also good. Problem we found was that the location was a bit bad. We always took a taxi to go from the hotel to Alexanderplatz (the closer "turistc point") and it costed us around 7 euros every time. There was wifi in the hotel but in our building the wifi was a bit poor, however we did not use it that much. During night time is really quiet, if you want to go out clubbing or to any bar you have to go to another part of the city. I visited the city in May 2016 with my boyfriend.
I stayed here 6 nights on the 8th floor. My room was clean, but there was absolutely no Wi-Fi in there. Since this was a business trip, it was very very frustrating to go in the lobby every time I need to check my email. The breakfast offer in the buffe is quite good and there is a luggage locker available just next to it (for 1€). Walking distance from metro is 3-4 mins. In general, this hotel is quite, you will sleep well in it, it is clean, but don't expect anything special there.
The Hotel is very good located. The Metro station is just near by. The Roms are good clean and everything you need. But there is nothing special at this place. What is nice there is a nice spanish restaurant on the oposit side. Also there is a nice beakery near by. I would visit the hotel again in case i would need a good place just to sleep.
Stayed here for a few days with my college group. The location is great and very quiet at night time. We were able to access the Uban (underground tram) and Espan (over ground tram) within minutes. I did find the transport confusing but was with a fluent German speaker! However the transport is fast and flawless and you will eventually get to your destination. The rooms are small, but functional and clean. (Might not suit families) The wifi was terrible unfortunately. We were greeted each night by a very friendly receptionist, with helpful advice. We also went to a Spanish restaurant beside the hotel one of the nights and had the best tapas ever! Overall for the good price, it's a lovely and simple hotel, we had to take one Uban and Espan to get into Mitte, but if you don't mind the travelling, it's a good option!
This hotel is close to the underground station, Spittelmark. The staff is helpful and friendly. Coffee shops and restaurants are located nearby. A good breakfast is served. The bar is at the hotel reception and might be on the small side. However, I never used the bar and therefore cannot say much about it. Coffee facilities are available in the room. The sachets weren't replenished daily. Had to go down to reception almost daily to get coffee and sugar sachets. Struggled with wifi in the room.
In the month of April 2016 I visited Berlin for a week end and decided to stay at this hotel. The place is convenient in term of position but besides this there are no other meaningful advantages at choosing it. The same weekend I was there has been very rainy. It rained 24h/day and for the entire week end. No wonder, then, that I had to use an umbrella as the majority of the hotel guests did. The rooms were furbished in a very essential way, and umbrella bins were missing. On the first day, as my umbrella was constantly wet and dripping water all over the moquette floor, I decided to use the paper bin to solve the problem. I removed it from under the small desk and put it beside the entrance door where all the umbrella bins are usually placed. The day after I left the room to have a breakfast at the cafeteria next to the hotel and when back in the room the umbrella was missing. I asked at the reception and they said that probably the cleaning lady removed it. They looked everywhere, even in the trash but eventually did not find it (Lost? Stolen?) It was one of those fancy umbrellas by Samsonite that you can open and close with the same button, and practically new. Still apologizing for what happened, the ladies at the desk told me to buy a new umbrella when at home and send them the receipt. We also convened that for such a small value item it was not worth to report at the police as the procedure would require (ridiculous). When back home I sent an email to the hotel management, recapping what happened and the solution agreed. I also sent them a link from Amazon of the same umbrella (with the price) and they replied that I could proceed with the purchasing (I still have all the emails). After this, I bought the umbrella in a retail shop at almost half of the price agreed, and sent them a picture of it, of the receipt, and my IBAN code, claiming of course only what really spent. This is when a very unprofessional, ridiculous and timewasting emailing flow started because of the reimbursement claim. The customer care responsible from the hotel, took over the case and, e-mail after e-mail started putting together a number of excuses not to reimburse the purchase. First she said that although they committed by email to refund my loss, they changed mind and would not proceed in that way, also that I should have left the umbrella dripping on the bathroom floor (not caring about the simplest safety recommendations not to have slippery floors that could cause incidents). Then in a following email she even said that there was no evidence that I had an umbrella with me when I stayed at the hotel (which basically means that if you cannot provide a picture of your belongings taken from the hotel room and with a newspaper which can testify the day of your staying…then you cannot complain for any your losses). Eventually they just ignored my reply and this is why, now, I am reporting all this. Even if this would be already enough to rate as TERRIBLE this place, I have also to add that on SUNDAY morning, between 7.30 a.m. and 8.30 a.m., a guy from the hotel staff, for almost an hour, kept scraping with a shovel the courtyard floor, where the hotel trash is kept (visible), creating a very annoying and loud noise that woke me up (at windows closed) and irremediably interrupted my rest. I really travel much, but I definitely took the decision that I will NEVER come back to this hotel or to choose a BEST WESTERN accommodation for my future trips if this is how Customer Care works in tis hotel chain.
This hotel can best be described as functional. The location is quite good with easy access to public transport and within walking distance of the city centre. The rooms are spotlessly clean and reasonably comfortable. The public areas are minimal - a small reception/foyer and a breakfast room. There is a small "bar" in the foyer which is attached to the reception. The hotel is fine as a basic but serviceable base to explore Berlin.
Stayed here for a 3 night stay last November. Hotel is very big as it is separated into different buildings. Great as a tourist with local metro (spittlmarkt). Fantastic city. Free coffee/tea in room and drink facilities. We had a great tapas meal accross the road. Only negative was uncomfortable pillows.
Hotel was excellent value. Room was comfortable, staff were helpful and friendly. The location is great, just a minute or so from the nearest U-Bahn stop. Great stay and a great city, would stay here again.
This is not a particularly attractive hotel but the staff are welcoming and helpful. The location within very easy walking distance from the metro makes it a good base for a few days in Berlin. The rooms are pretty standard but give you all you need and are comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a good range of choice and not stinting on quantity. There is no restaurant for the evening but there are nearby alternatives so that is not a problem. The "bar" is part of reception so not really a place for an evening to relax in, Overall though its a good reasonably priced base.
I was slightly concerned about using this hotel as a base for my escapades in Berlin but I need not have worried - my concern stems mainly from the large number of reviews that I had read mentioning the poor quality of the Wi-Fi in this hotel but as you will read later on in this review it was not a problem at all. This hotel is in a quiet and safe area in close proximity to Spittelmarkt U-bahn station. There is certainly a coffee shop, a restaurant and a bar within short distance of it. The hotel itself is rather non-descript on the outside but this was soon made up for by the very warm and friendly welcome I'd received from the receptionist on duty (I believe his name was Javier). I am not sure whether it was because I was a Best Western rewards member but I was provided with a username and password on a separate piece of paper for the free Wi-Fi and this worked a treat throughout my three night stay; I certainly had no problems with the Wi-Fi whatsoever. The room itself with the amenities is what I would expect from any 3 star Best Western hotel in Europe. The bed was comfortable and the shower was adequate for my needs. The breakfast was great with very many hot and cold options available particularly in relation to the latter. Tips: (1) I would recommend using the Express bus from Berlin Tegel Airport to this hotel as it is incredibly economical and very easy to navigate; and (2) Please ensure that you use the correct exit (Neue Grünsteraße) when leaving Spittelmarkt U-bahn station. Once you have reached the top of the stairs, there is only one way you can take, which is left (due to the on-going construction) and take the first right and the hotel is located on your right further down the road.
Unfriendly reception staff...very small rooms...dirty carpeting in room...no wifi in room although announced when...air cindition not working properly... the lady cleaning the room cursed in Chinease when asked for extra pillows... keep away from this place
the location of hotel is very good, you can walk to many attractions. The hotel's breakfast is very nice. the room is cleaning. Wifi is not good in room, just in reception place is good. reception person is very nice and helpful.
Spittelmarkt is located centrally in Berlin. F.e we went to Checkpoint Charly, Brandenburger Tor, the Jewish Memorial, Alexander Platz, all on foot! The hotel has a parking lot, so you better leave the car there. The public transport in Berlin is fantastic, you don t need a car. The hotel entrance/lobby does not look inviting, the lobby is a bit messy. Staff is friendly enough though. Rooms are clean but small. BEDS ARE TERRIBLE!! The double beds are small and the matrass is very soft. We did not sleep good, and my back and neck hurt . The hotel is quiet, not much noice outside. Breakfast is good, the breakfast room not so cosy. Because of the terribly bad sleep we will not stay here again.
This is a lovley, clean, modern hotel. In an excellent, quite central location right next to the U Bahn station. It was fairly priced for a city center hotel, the rooms were a little small, but very clean ansd serviced daily, however you wont be spending much time there, as there is so much to see and do in this fabulous city. We didnt have breakfast included with our room price, however there is a fab bakery across the street which is well worth a visit for breakfast.
Ideal for travel around Berlin there is a U Bhan 50 meters from the hotel. Rooms are fine clean, big enough ,kettle, good bathroom with powerful shower. We paid for breakfast which consists of a couple of hot dishes and plenty of cold dishes. I notice some reviewers have mentioned the WFI i didn't have a problem worked fine in the room and public areas. There isn't much around the hotel however if you want a quick snack the coffee shop opposite the hotel is lovely (not open at night). We waked most of the time but also used public transport which is cheap and very efficient. Just as a warning we used the express bus to go back to Tegal airport in the rush hour it took over a hour so make sure you leave plenty of time . Overall this hotel is fine for a short break
This is the 3rd time I've stayed at this hotel in the past 3 years. It's in a central location but it's really quiet at the same time so you can be assured of a good night's sleep. Rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. Particularly like the idea of luggage lockers so you can leave them in the hotel on your last day and go back and collect them later. Would definitely like to return for a 4th visit soon! :o)
Perfect location. And neart to metro station. City centre but quiet street. Room was nice, funcional, with everything what needed. Very clean. Bed was comfortable. Wi-Fi with small gaps sometimes, but not bad. In general, very good for price and can recommend it truly. I would be welcome little changes in rooms design - for example -pctures on the wall,a little bit od colours.. and wider bed.
Very good location to discover Berlin. Service and cleanness are average. Beds are partly very poor, couldn't sleep very well and got some back pain. For early checkin they charge an extra 20.- EUR fee. However, there is a one Euro luggage locker available.
Stayed here for three nights with a friend. Was told by check in that breakfast was included, but when we checked out they wanted to charge us for it, wich was very strange. Overall the employees was rather talking to each other than help guests, and did not bother to say hi. The beds was hard but ok, the room was clean but there were mold in the bathroom. The area is very central but still far away somehow. The metro stop is not that far away, which is a good thing because nothing will happen in spittelmarkt. And the internet connection was really slow, and disappeared very often.
Great location . U do have to pay 15 euro city tax though . Clean smart hotel and quality rooms . Breakfast not bad but not much hot food for the English . I'd give this 4 star as it was a great place to stay and will stop again , staff seems very nice bar the odd moody one but everywhere has at least one who pulls down the hotel service . Cleaners very good . Reception has free pic with wifi and wifi through out the hotel which is ok . They do sell beer that you can only drink in reception or take to room as there is not a bar .
Stayed at this hotel for my 22nd birthday in mid-April. Location was excellent as it was a short walk from Potsdamer Platz and very close to the Spittelmarkt U-Bahn station. The hotel itself was clean and very handily had luggage lockers for one euro if you were arriving before/departing after check in/out. The rooms were clean with tea/coffee facilities, a TV and a safe. The wifi in the room, however, was shocking. We were on the 5th floor and the wifi cut out intermittently and was very slow when it was connected. The staff were by and large unhelpful and a little unfriendly with me being made to feel very uncomfortable at check in as I had a phone case with a football team the man behind the desk didn't like. It could have been a joke but as two young girls, we felt very uncomfortable. He was very abrupt with us so where the hotel would have usually been given a higher rating for the location, the poor wifi and abrupt staff have sullied my view somewhat.
We stayed for 3 nights. It was very clean, bed was comfy with a memory foam topper. We got a free upgrade but room was still fairly small although well designed. Shower was fantastic for heat and pressure but recycled toilet roll was ghastly! Powdered milk only in room. Breakfast was continental style and was good but I would've killed for toast by the third day! Just yards from the UBahn station and walkable to Alexanderplatz for shopping, eating etc. Cash machine right outside. Great hotel for a city break.
a quiet friendly hotel to the usual Best Western standard, There is no restaurant but that is no problem as there are many good places to eat close by..The breakfasts here are superb and the price of the rooms are very reasonable. would recommend this hotel for a stay if you dont want any frills
Hotel is over priced for the level of service they are providing, rooms are clean but bathrooms are very small, TV channels are very limited, WiFi is a disaster, staff are helpful, very close to the metro station
Spent 2 nights here. We had upgraded our room so it was of a good size. However it was not the double bed we expected but 2 singles pushed together! Bathroom was clean and good size with both bath and shower and lots of hot water with great water pressure. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. They have to double up from their reception duties in the evening to serve in a minute bar. It would almost be better not having one as there is only room for about 8 people to sit down. Breakfast is served in the basement and had a fairly good selection of hot and cold food. It is completely self service. This hotel suited us for a 2 night stay but not sure I would have wanted to stay longer, mainly due to the noisy outside. Dustman collected the bins around 06.30!
Great easy to find hotel Close to tune station on main line. Good breakfast with great variety and frequently topped up. Comfortable clean room with good shower. Great stay ?? Would definitely recommend it.
Excellent 3 star hotel in a quiet area only 15 mins walk from alexanderplatz. Spittelmarkt metro just 2 min walk from hotel. Excellent cafe called Cappuccino in from of the hotel for cheap breakfast and lunch. My only problem with this hotel is the wifi. It simply doest work altho they have promised to fix it.
Wasn't expecting to much when booked through travel deal. It was very basic looking although rooms and bathrooms were fine (no fridge). Dining area very basic although plenty to choose from. Staff very friendly and helpful. They will hold bags for you in lockers. Also there is a bank machine right outside the hotel. Hotel situated near metro stop, only a fifteen min walk to main attractions. Nice Tapas across from hotel and a lovely bakery where you can get coffee etc. All in all it did what we needed, although I have to say I kinda missed a nice seating lobby area. Be aware if you arrive on an early flight as we did, no rooms before 2pm. Also building works going on near hotel which was noises early morning. In fact lots of building works in the area.
It was a simple, a little crowded and a very neat hotel. Hotel access to public transportation was acceptable. Absence of refrigerator in the room was a little weird to me. Warm and polite treatment of the personnel was the best part of staying in this hotel. The quality of the Internet in the hotel was totally unacceptable and at times the access to the Internet would be limited. Cleanliness of the room and the bathroom was perfect and acceptable
But basic Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. We booked a double room but got a twin... This meant having to push the beds together which did end up in lots of falling through the gap! In their defence we didn't ask for the room to be changed so don't know if this would have been accommodated. Location wise there is a coffee shop over the road which was great for the immediate hangover coffee/sandwich the next morning (the hotel does serve breakfast but does not do lunch/dinner. The reception does sell beer and there are a couple of chairs there but no bar as such) and just round the corner/5 min walk from nearest u bahn. There is also an ATM machine right outside the hotel but the area itself is really quiet. A 5-10 min walk takes you to an Irish bar and a couple of restaurants
stayed for weekend as part of group of 26 ,hotel could not be better. breakfast great recommend the bacon and scrambled egg, fresh baked croissants and rolls and wow the best coffee in a insulated jug to take to table
We stayed in Best Western for two nights on business trip in March. Most of the guests were there on business, for the price we expected more - small lobby area, breakfast restaurant is served in basement, very claustrophobic, looks like 3 rooms ware transforms into dining area. Walls are so thin you could hear people talking in the other room, wifi coverage was terrible - for business hotel big minus. Location good, right next to U-bahn station, nothing much to see in walking distance
The Hotel keeps its quality as always. ?t gives Best Western standard and comfort to its guests. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great where you reach to all destinations by tube or walking. Breakfast is very good and so many variety of foods and fresh breads. Kitchen chef Frau Elmas is great in service. Wi-Fi is free at the lobby and rooms but it needs to be improved. Recommended.
Pretty much a basic hotel, clean and tidy, the wifi didn't work very well though, although a good location for the sites, the area around the hotel was pretty much run down, the staff were excellent. Our room was clean and tidy.
Less than 5 minutes away from the nearest metro station, this hotel couldn't be better for getting your way around Berlin. Our room was a good size and as I usually find in most Best Western's, the bed was incredibly comfy. The staff were great and the hotel was incredibly clean and there was no noise from other rooms. There was always really tasty hot lemon tea available free in the foyer, I thought this was a lovely touch. The only thing I'd avoid would be the breakfast, it was very expensive for what is was, mostly pastries and cereals.
Overall we spent a nice few nights in this hotel. The room and bathroom were very clean and bed comfy! The location is very convenient, as it is it very close to the U-bahn. There is a really nice tapas place also just across the road! Would highly recommend!!!
Hotel was booked by office on the even of Berlinale.... but not bad at all. For a business hotel, it has everything you need. Convenient location (150 meters from U-Bahn Spittelmarkt station), spacious room, comfy bed, good size bathroom with hot shower, kettle to make coffe/tea but no fridge (don't really need when outside was -1 degree).
We have just returned from a 4 night stay and would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were friendly, the hotel was modern, clean and comfortable. It's situated in a good location in easy reach of all the sites, we walked everywhere but if you prefer public transport it's only round the corner. If your eating out there's a lovely cafe over the road, in the evening we went to Alexanderplatz where there are lots of restaurants for all budgets. We will definitely be returning.
This hotel is excelllent, staff were very helpful, any problems were sorted out right away, were spotless. The hotel was very handy for sight seeing, and the underground was just round the corner from the hotel
In a quiet area of new development close to the U-Bahn station main line for easy access to Potsdamer Platz & Alexander platz where yo get easily access the main train stations & many other links for the whole of Berlin. Direct links to Charlottenburg. This hotel is modern clean & the staff are very helpful. Plenty hot water & a decent buffet breakfast. Not too close to bars but only a 10 minute walk to a very decent Italian restaurant & Irish bar. Opposite is a decent Spanish Tapes & a wonderful café Cappuchino which is popular with local workers because it is cheap & simply wonderful. it seems out of the way but consider just 15-20 minute walk to Alexander platz, Museum Island, Fredrichstrasse, Potdamer Platz & Unter den Linden so is ideal. I would recommend this place if you want a good night sleep to be fresh for the amazing history of berlin & the friendly helpful Berliners.
The hotel is central and in a business area of Berlin, so it was quiet at the weekend but its still a quiet area on weekdays although more shops are open then. The location is good, short hops 2 or 3 stops on ubahn or buses to most central areas such as potsdam, museum island or kreuzberg. Although i discovered Berlin is a city of several 'centres' but the hotel is well located in this respect. The area surrounding the hotel isn't as characterful or colurful as say kreuzberg so an evening out would involve a ubahn trip of a few stops to for example rosenhaler platz or neukollon. Close to the hotel is an average quality tapas restaurant, I discovered also walking distance a vegetarian restaurant close by at museum markisches ubahn station. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms comfortable and clean.
It seems that it's out of the way, but it's connected to the rest of the city by a nearby metro station. It's also not too far from Checkpoint Charlie. However it was so much cheaper than hotels in the busier parts of the city such as those near the Brandenburg gate. The room was fairly small but this didn't spoil the experience. It was clean and tidy and quiet. I don't think there were tea/coffee making facilities. The beds were a bit narrower than standard singles. There is free wi-fi but it kept dropping out. I had to keep re-connecting. If I was making another trip to Berlin, I would look to book this hotel again. The hotel reception staff were very friendly. One of them thought we were German because we said hello to them in German! I think they appreciated the effort.
Good Hotel close underground, in the west part of Berlin, near was nice caffe ane sandwich bar. Good parking place, and good restaurant near the street . Clean, and quiet, Wifi in the hotel . Very confortable room.
Arrived midday of arrival in a lovely area. Staff were welcoming and informed us where our room was. We asked where was good to eat and told us about a Spanish Tapas place down the road. We didn't go their for food but it does look very nice to go. In a good place for walking to everywhere, which is handy to save a few euros with not needing to buy the train pass each day. However we did end up walking about 30 miles all over the city, but this was partly from the brilliant 6 hour tour we took on the first day. Hotel is well placed and room was exactly what we needed.
The hotel was comfortably located (right next to an U Ban station and close to the Mitte (center of town). On request, the staff provided great recommendations for dining and transportation requirements. The room was clean and suitable for my needs. Wifi was working well (a basic demand when traveling for business). No luxury, but none was expected. Breakfast is a bit on the high side (price wise). All in all - great value for money
I was on a trip with a group of 15. We arrived and were treated with very helpful and friendly and booked us all in quickly and efficiently. We went to our rooms which whilst being very clean, they were very small with 2 single beds pushed together. There is not much room to separate the beds for any personal space. Great if you are a couple but a bit too cosy if you are staying with friends. We asked for an upgrade and got one for about £30 a night to a junior suite which was far better. The hotel is very clean , very friendly and very well run. It's is about a 15-20 mins walk to Andersonplatz where the main bars and restaurants are . Just a wee note , the bottles of water in the room are chargeable . There is just a tiny note in amongst the hotel paperwork which tells you this.
I chose this hotel for a winter short trip to Berlin. One first good point has been the location, very close to a U-bahn station - important while traveling under such bad weather. The hotel is very quiet and nice. Despite the outside appearance - a simple and "cold" building - inside it is warm and cosy. Just across the road there is a bar and a couple of good restaurants, once again useful if you don't want to go too far for dinner in a cold night.
Good location, just 15-20 min stroll from Alexanderplatz and a couple of minutes walk to U2 station. 20 minutes walk to checkpoint Charlie. Rooms seem to be recently renovated, all facilities look fresh and new. Rich breakfast with good choice of food.
Located in a quiet area near Alexanderplatz and many other interesting places in polis.sta 100 meters there is a metro station. large room, full breakfast, reasonable price and very helpful the staff tou.tha recommend it as an excellent choice for accommodation in Berlin.
Stayed here wit my girlfriend and a couple of friends in December for the Christmas Markets and had a pretty good experience. Hotel is in quite a good location, near the underground and there's a few small shops nearby. The room was fine, very clean and had all the usual amenities (The shower is great), although if you want tea and coffee making equipment you need to pick that up at reception, a bit strange but no hassle. We requested a room close to an exit as we are both smokers and didn't fancy having to hike for our last cigarette before bed. The hotel honoured our request and put us on the ground floor next to an exit / smoking area which was perfect. The beds are awful, I appreciate that two single beds pushed together makes the room essentially a double or a twin but when both the beds have castors and a thin carpet, the smallest movement in bed quickly returns the room from a double back to a twin. The nights were constantly spent pushing the beds back together as they moved too freely. There was lemon tea at reception which is great after walking around the Christmas Markets and getting something nice to put a bit of heat back in you. The hotel bar however is part of the reception and is very expensive. Seen a few people talking about the wifi, to be honest it wasn't great. It did connect but it would drop a lot and when it did connect it was very slow. Everywhere in Germany has 4G though so wifi probably isn't really a priority. Finally breakfast - I again felt that this was very overpriced. It's a typical continental breakfast and it's okay, one disappointment was however there were no sausages... In Germany!! Overall the hotel was good but nothing really jumped out at me that would see me wanting to return.
Overall satisfied considering the price. First the good part: The location is good. About 1 min walk from the metro line U2. There are two bakery/cafes on the way to the metro so its quite convenient. The purpose of our trip was to visit the Christmas markets in Berlin and we could walk to both Gendarmenmarkt and Alexanderplatz, both reachable by walking approximately 20 min. Parking is also very convenient if you are driving. My advice is, do not park in the hotel parking lot (15€/day)- instead park at the road and ask the front desk to give you a parking licence (5€/day). Now, the bad: The room is not very big, actually it is one of the smallest BW family suite I have seen. It barely fits two adults, one infant and one four years old and their luggage. The beds are not very comfortable and I think its time for them to buy new mattresses. SUMMARY: Yes, I would still recommend this hotel even though the room was too small, and the beds not very comfortable. The reason is simply the location and it was really convenient and quite in the area.
This hotel was very nice. My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights at this hotel in December. The staff were very friendly and we arrived way before the check-in time yet our room was ready. The hotel is very close to the train station and also very close to the main sites of Berlin. Earlier a guy in a previous review said there was a problem with the wifi. My girlfriend and I were on the top floor and we had no problem with the free wifi which was offered. I have no complaints
The rooms were lovely and clean. The staff wer nice. Fantastic breakfast. Only a 5-10 minute walk to Alexanderplatz. We would definitely stay again. The tapas restaurant over the road is worth a visit.
We booked this hotel as it was well placed, a short walk from the 'alexanderplatz' area of the city. It was also very close to the Metro station, which made travel around the city very easy. The hotel was very clean with modern facilities and even had a small bar.
Stayed early December for the Christmas Markets in a triple room. This hotel is excellent value, the triple room was a 'proper' triple, with an anti room for the third bed, comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff at this hotel are superb, friendly, very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Situation of the hotel is excellent two minutes from U-bahn with its own little neighbourhood which includes various restaurants, cafes and a supermarket. Close by is Liepzig Strasse with more excellent restaurants, the Italian and Chinese are superb and great value. If you know Berlin well, as we do, this is a great place to base yourself as you can walk to quite a number of the main parts of the 'old East' which is now really the new Zentrum. The only criticism is the wifi which is mentioned in other reviews, really poor, in fact I would say if you can't improve it, switch it off, as the mobile coverage on Vodafone is excellent.
Room was very clean. Comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water. Towels excellent. Hotel inside very quiet. Noise from building works from outside started at 7am in the morning. However, I'm sure that's only temporary. No tea and coffee facilities in room. On return I read they were available on request from reception. However, no mention in the hotel details booklet in room, neither were we offered them when checking in. Arrived early morning, but hotel freely offered to store luggage for us. We were also able to leave our cases in a locker room (€1 returnable fee) until late afternoon on departure day. We didn't have hotel breakfast. We used a breakfast place on the corner towards the Underground station(2 mins from hotel). Trains every 2-5 minutes. I'd certainly use this value for money on a subsequent visit to Berlin.
We stayed at the Best Western Hotel last week for two nights. I won't say much in this review as we didn't altogether have a great time in Berlin due to my mums handbag being stolen.. But. Aside from that, the hotel was lovely. Really was one of the best hotels we've stayed at in a city. Like others have said before, location was Spot On! Not too close to the centre and noise but close enough to reach all the points of interest comfortably using the underground. For example, Alexanderplatz was just 3 stops away on the U2 from Spittelmarkt station. The station is literally round the corner from the hotel :) Our room was just right. Enough space and we had both a bath and shower in the bathroom, which we love. The beds were comfortable to sleep in and more importantly, clean. There was an option for breakfast at €10 each morning but we didn't go for this. Staff were friendly and helpful and you can print for free at the hotel, like your boarding passesif you need to. We didn't have any issues with wifi. Another good thing was you can buy the Berlin Welcome Card at the reception too. This is so useful especially if you're going for three days and will be using public transport quite a bit. Only thing I would change about this hotel is perhaps putting in a restaurant or making an official bar, separate from the reception. Other than this, all good!
We stayed here for a weekend. This was a good 3* hotel. The bed was very soft, a little to soft for me. The breakfast is buffet style, well presented and clean. The food was very fresh. The room was very clean and comfortable. The wifi was easy to get onto and a good speed. There are coffee sachets and a biscuit in the room. The bathroom was small and clean with a shower, sink and toilet no bath. The reception staff we dealt with were really nice and spoke excellent English. There was a small bar area which was fairly well priced for a hotel bar. Our room, 241 looked out over another building but it was very quiet. I would happily stay here again. About the area - The immediate area around the hotel did not seem to have much to keep you there but the hotel is about 5-10 minutes walk to the underground which takes you straight into town in about 3-5 minutes. They run frequently so I did not mind at all.
Decent hotel, nothing special. Rooms were small, especially the bathroom. Check in was friendly. Breakfast was good. Close to U-bahn and centrally located, so if you're just looking for a place to sleep this is your hotel.
Hotel was central and within walking distance of everything you needed and three stops on the metro to Alezendaplaza and the shops Rooms were recently refurbished and bathroom looked new but the carpet was stained which we found off putting The beds were soft and very narrow and even after asking for a double bed were made up as twins Kettle boxes are in reception Free safe in the room The Wifi was very poor and threw us out every time we changed a page. This was a disappointment as it was essential to our trip The cafe across road was nice The hotel breakfast was very good and we found the individual breakfast rooms quite pleasant The Irish bar on main road was very good. We found no other restaurants close by I would chose this area again but not this hotel
Comfortable and easy location for getting around the city.Decent breakfast clean rooms and very helpful staff.Spittelmarkt station just around the corner 3 stops later and you are in Alexanderplattz. All city tour buses leave from this area.
We were very happy overall with this hotel. It is a couple of minutes walk away from the U-bahn and in a quiet neighbourhood and within walking distance of many of the important areas. Our room was comfortable, the wi-fi was excellent and the shower particularly good (not because of its look or space but because it had two functions - one for the flow and one for the temperature. This meant that it stayed at a constant temperature). The breakfasts were plentiful and good with lots of fruit, cereal, breads, meat and cheese. The only drawback in this good value hotel came in the proximity to a building site where noisy work started at 7 a.m in the morning. Obviously this will be a temporary state of affairs
Hotel is less than 5 minute walk from underground system and Berlin is then at your feet. Hotel room we had (in the annex building) was spotless and complete with kettle and hair dryer (2 essentials according to the wife!) Bed was comfortable and the shower was very hot and powerful.
FIne hotel, good price!! Rooms OK, breakfast OK : only the rooms for thet breakfast are to small. Quality of the food is excellent. Dogs are allowed. Very near to the U-Bahn which is very helpfull. I would recommend this hotel with a budget not to high but the price you pay is OK!!!
Overall, it's a nice hotel in a good area. We were given a room in the annexe next to the main building -the room was a bit basic as there weren't that many facilities, but it was clean and quiet and served us well as a base for our stay in Berlin. We found the hotel's staff to be fairly friendly and they gave us restaurant recommendations and advice on airport trains. It's a couple of minutes walk from the nearest U-Bahn station and there's a nice café called Cappuccino over the road where we had breakfast. The ongoing construction work that others have mentioned isn't directly outside the hotel and didn't interfere with our stay at all. We'd definitely stay here again.
The hotel is well located, close to the U-bahn so that you can walk to the hotel. Well located, very central and can walk to all important landmarks from there, ie Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Cathedral and more. We were supposed to sleep for 2 nights, but had problems with our flight being cancelled, and Best Western kept our room, they did not cancel because because of a no show, we did not have problems re-arranging. Room are large enough for a couple to share. We did not have breakfast because we had to be out early to catch the next flight.
nice room big enough for short break ,one night we even had a few beers and wine with some cheese etc in room as too tired to eat out ,chairs etc in room ,no problems from cleaning staff next day regards empty tins etc .breakfast good ample choice and good value in my opinion ,staff sometimes seemed a bit surly but on reflection they were just unobtrusive i.e there when needed, towels clean every day maid service every day beds superb all for a 3 star hotel amazing ..if you read review from Hussein A.he should have used safe in room all free of charge .all in all GREAT .
The hotel is very clean and neat for the price, the service is great by most of the crew but there's one person that either had a bad week or is genuinely rude. I liked the location of the hotel, you can walk to almost everything worth seeing if you're fairly used to walk. The only bad thing about this hotel that I experienced is that I got robbed in my room, the door was locked when we went out and it wasn't broken when we returned. Unfortunately my Macbook, headphones, Ipad and some money was stolen from the room. The personal couldn't explain how this was possible but when the police came they tried to open the door with a Visa Card and they succeeded. The only compensation I got from the hotel was some fruits and a sorry note.
Just back from a stay here in Berlin. The rooms are lovely and clean and spacious enough for 2 people. I e-mailed the hotel beforehand to request a twin room rather than a double and received an e-mail back to confirm this and when we arrived they had the room made up as a twin. There is a U-bahn underground station right next to the hotel, four stops takes you to the huge Mall of Berlin. Loads and loads of fab shops!! 2 bakeries on the street for breakfast. A lovely Italian restaurant and chinese restaurant within 5 minutes walking distance as well as a very friendly Irish pub. Also there is a Lidl nearby. Checkpoint Charlie is a 10 minute walk from here and you can easily walk to The Mall of Berlin and Brandenburg Gate. We did not hear any noise from the construction work but the hotel provide free ear plugs as well as toothpaste, shower caps etc and there is also a hair and body wash in the shower and liquid soap by the wash hand basin which saves you packing these items. Also pick up a plastic box from reception which contains a kettle, cups and tea and coffee. Leave a note at reception in the morning and they will replenish it. My friend connected to the wifi in the room but I couldn't but I could get it fine in the reception. This wasn't a problem as I was there to enjoy Berlin not to play on my phone!! It was my birthday when I was there and the room was decorated with balloons and a happy birthday message. I was delighted to arrive back to find this. All in all a good location and a nice hotel with friendly staff.
I booked for 7 nights, but stayed only one. Their Wi-Fi is terribly slow. My phone hooked in slow, but my tablet would not connect at all. I called the front desk to complain, and the desk person admitted that the internet and Wi-Fi system is old and has not been upgraded. He also added that, not only have other customers complained, but the staff has also complained to the management of the needed upgrades, citing the staff's inability to perform their work as well. The desk person informed me that management is unwilling to perform any upgrades. I stayed one night, suffering from technology withdrawal ?. The next morning, I booked my remaining night with Titanic, right next door. At noon, I checked out of the Best Western. As I was doing so, the front desk person informed me that repairs to the internet were being performed at that moment (technicians were performing networking tasks in the front office just then). I simply said “Glad I could help “, and left. These repairs may be completed by the time you are deciding to book. So, be sure to ask them direct questions like “Can I watch a streaming movie on my tablet?”, or “Is your Wi-Fi fast enough for me to have a Skype video conversation?”. If they say no, then the repairs are not completed. It they say yes, be sceptical. Other than that, the room was nice. There were plenty of outlets everywhere, which is helpful. Nice room desk. Comfortable bed, except that it was two singles pushed together. By morning, they were slightly separated. Shower stall was kinda small.. I can't give the hotel only one star, but I can't give it three or more 'cause the website clearly states “Free High Speed Internet and Wi-Fi”. Four stars for service. They admitted they were inadequate, but they should live up to their website claims. Good location. Near Underground, shops, restaurants, monuments. Nice, clean rooms. Five stars for both. It they fix their internet, they'll be hard to beat.
Rooms very clean shame building work was going on next to hotel room was booked on line with easy jet so can't complain as had not spoken direct with hotel very nice cafe opposite called cappuccino train station round corner will return again
My partner and I stayed here for a few nights and found the hotel very good value for money, particularly given its central location. Spittelmarkt tube station is just round the corner but a great deal of sites are in walking distance. The room was comfortable and quiet. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as there are two bakerys/cafes on the same street which served lovely croissants. The room didn't have tea and coffee making facilities which panicked me initially until a staff member told me that you collect a box from reception! I've never experienced this before and found it odd but there was plenty of tea and coffee which was good! The hotel reception had lots of tourist information leaflets, sine with money off coupons for entry which was an added bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel and will stay here again next time we go to Berlin.
A budget-friendly hotel with a lot of great amenities, most of all because of its location. About a 20 min walk to Alexanderplatz, 2 minute walk to U-bahn, 5 minute walk to Netto (grocery store) and about 1 min to a great bakery and café (with a lot of baked goods, salad bar, breakfast options and much more). Breakfast is €10, but didn't try it, as it was not included. Staff was friendly, but the WiFi was B-A-D. Kept connecting and disconnecting all the time, all four days of our stay. All in all it was a great stay - but not excellent as the WiFi was troublesome :-)
We went to Berlin for 4 nights. This hotel was perfect because it was centric, walking distance to Alexanderplatz and very near a subway station. The hotel was very clean, very friendly personnel. Breakfast was not included. I think it costs 10 Euros per person. What we did was to go to a bakery 50 meters away from the hotel and had breakfast there for 10 euros for the both of us. The rooms were kind of small but the space was very well administered. I would definitely book this hotel again!
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for our recent city break to Berlin. The hotel is in a good location to all main sites and the city centre and very close to the Spittelmarkt ubahn. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The room was equipped well and was very clean. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but the facilities looked good. There is extensive building work going on around the hotel which is very noisy at times, I however sleep with ear plugs and it didn't bother me one bit, but if staying here in the near future and sleeping with the window open I would definitely recommend taking some. This is not the hotels fault at all and as such it hasn't affected my rating. This is a great hotel, it doesn't cost much and for a low cost hotel, close to all amenities with the staff making our stay all the more personal in such a big city....I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others giving it 5 stars.
This is a lovely hotel - clean, great amenities, nothing too much trouble for them, rooms lovely however has two down sides. Wifi is not reliable and there is not enough local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. There is one very nice Tapas across the road but that is it. Located near to underground railway system. Breakfast has plenty of variety and tasty.
We stayed here for one night just for somewhere to sleep before transferring to our final destination in Germany. As far as city hotels go and being part of a large chain, it was ok. There isn't much room in reception and there's a small bar but not really anywhere to sit for a drink. However, the whole place was clean and well presented. The rooms were ok in size and while the bathroom was small it was very modern and completely adequate. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was served in the basement restaurant and there was a good choice of items on offer. I feel that this hotel offers good value and is close to an underground station making getting around easy. There is also a lovely Spanish tapas restaurant directly across the road and other places to eat within a short walk. When we return to Berlin for a longer stay I will consider this hotel as a base. There is construction work going on in the immediate area which did cause some early morning noise, however I won't mark the hotel down for something that is out of their control. All in all a comfortable and pleasant stay.
In this hotel we will be back! In an ideal location, close to the metro. Around the hotel there are several bakeries where you can cheaply and eat your breakfast because the hotel very expensive. The rooms are beautiful, large, clean and bright. They have everything. Bathroom beautiful, pure in equipped. It has free Wi-Fi. It has parking, even after he checks out of the hotel. The staff are lovely, understand multiple languages, ready to help in everything.
BW Spittelmarkt is well situated close to a station by the same name, the river, and the Wall. It is relatively easy walking of 10-30 minutes to restaurants, museums and river paths, with sections of the Wall much closer. Rooms are fine with all the amenities expected of a Best Western, and the staff was always helpful when asked. Breakfast was optional but very good value. When we were there in Summer 15 there was a fair bit of building work happening in the vicinity of the river, station and hotel so it was a little dusty and a minor inconvenience; but things like this come and go.
You can't grumble too much when the hotel is such great value and so well located, but good wifi is a must in 2015. It's pretty terrible, like stepping back 15 years. Staff are extremely helpful, and you can get umbrellas and plug adaptors for a deposit. If you arrive too early from the airport (hotel check in starts at 14:00) there are plenty of lockers for storing luggage. Easy walking distance to the centre (Mitte), Museum Island, and Alexanderplatz.
Very clean and comfortable room, two single beds pushed together rather than a double though. Only a couple of minutes walk from a central tube station, very close to main attractions. Had breakfast there one day for convenience, open buffet for 10€ each. Selection was ok but there are a few better cafes opposite and round the corner which are also cheaper. Useful selection of maps and info leaflets in reception. Agree the WiFi is slow but it's not a problem to be offline for a few days on holiday. Would recommend and would definitely stay here again.
Good hotel, it's in a great location the underground spittlemarkt is literally round the corner, and a few underground stops away from Potsdamer platz and Alexanderplatz, and you don't have to pay the extra amount that the central hotels charge! Only a minor complaint is the wifi is a tad slow but apart from that a good hotel, staff are very helpful and friendly.
This was a clean and tidy hotel in a good location. There was some early morning noise from the nearby building site, but this just encouraged us to get up and out and enjoy ourselves. The wireless internet we did find to be really slow which was quite annoying as there was no real english TV, which would of been nice after a long day out and about exploring. The U-bahn is only about 300m away making it easy to get anywhere.
