Best Western Hotel City Ost is located in the trendy district Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg of Germany's capital Berlin. The Oberbaum-bridge, the East-Side-Gallery and the Friedrichshain Park are just some of the sights nearby. Many other places in Berlin are easily accessible using the subway station which is close to the hotel.
Good location, public transport and grocery store just outside the hotel. The area, Friedrichshain, was nice and had a lot of good restaurants and bars. Room was clean and had A/C and refrigerator. Comfy beds.
Came here in November 2016 while visiting the Christmas Markets. Immaculate Hotel, very friendly staff. The breakfast was amazing. So fresh, kept on replenishing it. Wonderful. Great stay. Would definitely visit this Hotel again.
basic hotel, clean nice rooms. the metro located directly outside hotel so very easy to use and head into restaurant and pubs. good place to explore from but not for you if looking for a nightlife close by.
We stayed here for 4 nights. Location is good - right next to a U Bahn station and not far to walk to restaurants and bars in the Friedrichshain district. There is a Netto next door and also a place selling pizza, so was handy enough for snacks. We stayed in a comfort room. I don't know how this compares to a standard room but we had 2 single beds pushed together, a desk, small table and a chair, a safe, kettle, and a bathroom with a shower. The beds weren't the comfiest - my side was sloping so I tended to end up in the gao in the middle! The bedding was good and changed every day as we're the towels and tea and coffee replenished. I would stay there again
This hotel is poor and a bad example of normal best westerns. Smells bad, very uncomfortable beds and the desk is smaller than the one I had in primary school. WiFi cuts out every 2 minutes. Won't come back for sure and am out off of booking best westerns at all.
We stayed here for 3 nights and we really cannot fault it. We were a bit worried as the hotel is directly on the busy Frankfurter Allee, so we expected it to be very loud, but we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. The room was a good size and clean, and the staff were very friendly. We think this hotel was great value for money, and we would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Friedrichshain.
Basic hotel with good location right next to U-bahn station. Room was pretty small but clean and quiet. It was short walk from hotel to Berlin beer festival. There are lots of cheap restaurants nearby.
Lovely clean room, powerful hot shower, nice staff. Good value for money on the whole. However, bed not the comfiest and WiFi was terrible. The bad WiFi signal was a negative for me and my boyfriend as we like to plan our day in the morning and rely on the Internet for this! There was no way we connect to the hotel WiFi as the signal was so poor. I asked someone on reception about it and he responded saying that this was an issue throughout the hotel and that someone might be coming to look at it. This definitely seemed to be made up on the spot - the WiFi continued to be bad all week. Plus, I'm not the first person on Trip Advisor to note this! What annoyed us even more though, was that we saw a notice in the lift on our second to last day which said you can pay a 20 euro deposit to have an Internet rooter in your room - this was never mentioned to us and would have been helpful! Luckily for us, we were on the 2nd floor and a gym was below us - we managed to connect to their WiFi instead, but it was still very poor signal. Another issue - two single mattresses, but this seems to be case in many German hotels! And the beds and pillows weren't the comfiest, but bearable.
We arrived there quite easily from the airport (shonefield). The hotel is right next to the U-bahn leading easily to the center, but it's located in East Berlin which has a certain charm, especially for us being architects. The hotel itself is a modern one (not for those looking for classicist decor) and also one of the cleanest I've seen. The wifi was dodgy, the reception and stuff was ok, and the rooms were great, exactly what you'd expect from them. Prices were within range for what we got. We'll definitely consider staying there again for our trips to Berlin.
The receptionists were friendly, the room was clean. We didn't have breakfast and it was fairly expensive to add at €10 each. There is an underground station directly opposite the hotel. They have a safe in the room and lockers on the first floor so you can leave you bags before or after check in. This was a good base for us there's a nice neighbourhood with several nice little cafes about 10 min walk away.
I spent one night here in a business trip to this area of Berlin, as in other trips to Berlin I always stayed in the city centre. The room was nice and clean, with a nice welcome fruit and chocolate gift due to my Best Western rewards status. The breakfast was ok, with both continental and cooked food choices. The price was very good for the high quality of the room, much more competitive than in the city centre
This is a great hotel. Situated just 20m away from Samariterstra tube station. The rooms are warm, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is served in a large breakfast room on the first floor. The reception staff speak excellent English and are very knowledgeable and friendly. Just 30 minutes from the airport by train costing just 6euros.
This hotel is ok. It is not fancy - but it is nice and clean. I was in a double bedroom. Good bed, two small chairs, a desk and a bathroom. No frigde. The breakfast selection was very nice. Staff Wad very friendly. So all in all a nice hotel if you don't aim to spend your time in your room. U-bahn right outside the hoteldoors.
Conveniently located directly in front of an underground station, this hotel is basic yet clean. There is a supermarket and pharmacy directly downstairs which is very handy. Breakfast wasn't included and a little pricey at 10 euros a person so we just bought breakfast from the supermarket. Within walking distance to a fantastic area full of cafes and restaurants; friedrichshain. Also the city centre is approximately 40mins walk or 10 mins on a train away.
German efficiency Checked in within two mins Been before so know where to go Seconds to Ubahn with links to Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Very clean and tidy hotel This area is great for bars n restaurants particularly Fliegender Tisch approx 500 yards away on opposite side of road Great prices
The one positive is the the room was clean. The cleaners should be at the desk. They were friendly . The staff behind the reception desk either were unhappy in their work or trained to do their best to put people off their hotel. Everything was too much trouble. The room states you can change your pillow( it should say if you dare). The pillows are handed out begrudgingly ! We did not see a smile once. The typical response was a glower and a frown. Best Western promise a warm welcome. This one hasn't read the manual and should not be marketed under this brand. The room although clean had many problems. All of which have been mentioned before. We ignored them. PLEASE my advise is do not, they are as described. In other words front of hotel VERY nosiy main through road goes past the front door. Back has building going on. THE FRIDGE ( which it states is not a fridge !!!) cannot be turned off. It heats inside and out. The back of the fridge pours out SO much heat. These rooms are travel Lodge size and standard at best. So as the heat pours out day and night they become unbearable. Opening the window is nosiy! Air con is simply a box that doesn't work so we spent the nights just sweltering. Finally the theme mentioned by so many. The hotel advertises fast wi fi. That is just a joke. You have to keep telephoning reception for a different code , you always feel as if you are 'bothering 'them and that you are a nuisance. You get a code and it works for a few minutes and cuts out. You have to sign back in then that code doesn't work! It is not that difficult to install decent wi fi these days. So frustrating.in the end we gave up!! We had the impression that the hotel was out to simply find every opportunity to squeeze money out of you. The 2.5 euros for water crazy. Only tap water otherwise. The loo paper poor quality not far off newsprint type. Even a 20 euro deposit for a booster to improve THEIR wifi. Oh and the safe doesn't work. We have stayed in other German hotels and this was the worse. Others were cheaper and better. Best Western you have really let us down this time!
Like most other reviewers we found this hotel efficiently run with clean not to say spotless rooms and bathrooms and with a better than average selection of teas and coffees to go with the room kettle. The minibar is not stocked and a bottle of water provided on the coffee table costs Eu2.50 if opened and consumed, three times the price in the supermarkets. Breakfast was very pleasant although the overall choice is just on the right side of being minimal in a few respects (like only one to two types of fruit juice). The room price was attractive when making a short-notice booking although we had preferred to be slightly closer to the centre. We paid the Eu10 extra per guest for breakfast. Toiletries consist of a universal liquid soap/shampoo dispenser fitted on the wall next to the sink and in the shower, like in Premier Inns etc. Could not get the room safe to work, it might be me. Do not be put off by the very small street entrance presence. Right next to a U5 U Bahn station and the next stop west interchanges with the M10 radial tram route. The next stop to the east with the S-Bahn Ring and other services. Will stay here again, subject to room rates being favourable.
I took my partner to Berlin for an Anniversary present and booked to stay in the Best Western City Ost. Firstly, they advertise their beds as double beds which they are not. They are two single beds that have been pushed together. We found ourselves sleeping in a crack and waking up with back pain. The walls are dirty with scuff marks and the room is very small and minimal. Wi-Fi signal is terrible. There was a loud banging noise coming from upstairs which we tolerated on the first night. On the second night we asked to be moved room to which the boy at the front desk stated "there were no other rooms available but he would investigate the noise." On checking a website, there were still rooms available to book at this hotel. So clearly he could not be bothered with the upheaval. Although, all this was inconvenient I wouldn't have complained until it came to our last day. We came back from an enjoyable day exploring Berlin to find my glasses had been broken in half. We immediately went to the front desk to report this and the girl stated "what do you want me to do?" She eventually stated she would leave a note for the Manager who was on in the morning. Spoke to the Manager in the morning who took a picture of the glasses and took my email address. I was promised an email by the end of the day to which I did not receive. The Customer Service at this hotel was shocking and it is definitely not worth the hundred euros they charge per night. I have been in touch with the Great Britain Best Western as there is nowhere to complain to for the European Best Western. They have forwarded on my complaint twice and to no surprise, I have still not received any email. The stay at this Hotel was bitterly unsatisfactory and I would not recommend anyone stay at a Best Western Hotel if this is the sort of service they provide.
The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure and hot water. We were towards the road, but, as long as the window was shut at night we couldn't really hear too much. But, as the window had to be kept shut the room got hot and stuffy if the air-con was not set - ours worked fine. The wifi in our room (on the 4th floor) worked well as long as we logged on in the reception area on the way up. As I found in many places in Berlin there was a smell of stale smoke in the communal areas. It was convenient to get to from Schoenfeld airport and the U bahn to Alexanderplatz is right outside the door of the hotel with trains every 5 mins or so.
The rooms are very nice and clean! The bed is good, and the shower has hot water and good pressure. We were here the first weekend of August, to go to the Berlin bier festival. The staff was friendly, and the location was great, we could easily walk to the bier festival, and the U-bahn is litterally right outside the front door, which takes you to Alexander Platz in no time!
The location of the hotel is great with the metro a few metres away and great restaurants and nightlife nearby. Twins beds are joined so beware. The WiFi is only strong at the reception and very low in the rooms unless you buy a booster.it is ok if you plan to be out most of the day
Like many other reviewers we found this hotel to be in a very convenient location, following the advice of other reviews we requested a room at the rear of the hotel and consequently had very peaceful nights. Our room was just the right size, the shower was excellent but like a lot of hotels small towels. Our breakfast was included and we found it to be plentiful and of very good quality. I would heartily recommend the friendly little Italian restaurant next door, lovely food and very reasonable prices. We didn't have a fridge in our room but it wasn't an issue for us. I can't comment on the TV as we didn't even switch it on, way too much to do and see in Berlin to be watching TV! I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again without hesitation.
I have stayed in this place many times before, but this was the first time for about 4-5 years. It is still great value for money and really handy for public transport with the U5 stop to Alex just outside the door (about 11 mins once on teh U-Bahn). Yes it is basic, but the staff are both knowledgable and helpful and for a budget hotel in the area you really cannot beat it. Breakfast is also pretty good value with a nice buffet for 10 EURO. Rooms are clean and reasonable spacious, hence with the good transport links at a bargain price it is well worth it. Handy as well as you can be on the TXL bus to the airport in less than 20 mins.
The hotel was very clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Unfortunately, it was let down as we were given a room with broken air conditioning which apparently is common at this hotel. We got a move the next day to a room with a tv that didn't work . This was not fixed until our final night. Other than these irritations the hotel was otherwise very good and easily accessable to the city centre.
We stayed at the The Best Western Hotel City Ost for two nights in May this year. The hotel is in an excellent location with supermarkets, bars and shops all within easy reach. It is also very close to two underground stations with Samariterstr right outside and Franfurter Allee five minutes walk away. This made exploring Berlin very easy and cheap. The rooms were basic but they were very clean, bright and had tea and coffee making facilities and also a fridge. The room had plenty of wardrobe space and the staff were really helpful. This is an excellent mid-range hotel ideal for a short stop over. Breakfast was €10 but you could sort out your own breakfast from the local shops for a lot less if you made full use of the fridge etc. Berlin has a big problem with young alcoholics and homeless people and there are plenty of them in this area. However, they never caused us any problems or attempted to make any sort of contact with us. Apart from that we had a really enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel for anyone doing 'Berlin on a budget'.
Great Hotel in an amazing location, barely 20 steps from the underground which makes all more simple and easier, perfect for a touch-and-go to Berlin, lovely staff and breakfast, I will surely come back! Thank you!
Cant fault the place. easy to get to. Half hour in a taxi from the airport 40euros. plenty nearby in terms of shops and places to eat. Clean inside the room. Shower was decent. No issue with wifi in our room
Hotel, faultless though do be aware that people there don't seem to be up beyond 10 pm in the suburbs ( they complain if you have the tv on in your hotel room after 10 pm!) .... it's located in the old East Berlin of the city. The local restaurants are few, great pizza place virtually next door and astoundingly cheap! .... city itself is a good visit, poignant at times and contemplative xx remember it's 50 cents for EVERY toilet trip, even in restaurants, bars and shopping malls ( put an extra €20 per couple on a 4 stay) and there's a city tax payable when you get there ( about €10 per room per three night stay) ...... Berlin Curry Wurst is a must. Ps. Get all day tickets for the travel as the UBahn is fantastic and quick to navigate for able bodied. Check for stops with the lifts for wheelchair users xx
My daughter wanted a city break but her friends pulled out. I offered to go with her. She found this hotel on a good package with flight. I hadn't considered Berlin before and wasn't sure about it but agreed to give it a go. The hotel is basic and the bar pretty none existent really but it was clean and staff were welcoming and helpful. However the best thing is it's location. Just feet from the front door is the U-Bahn station which has trains regularly taking you around Berlin. Berlin is a really interesting city what with its varied history - good and bad. Transport links make it really easy to make your way around and the Berlin Welcome Card is great value. Don't book transfers from the airport - buy a Welcome card there and get the train into the city - easy!! We really enjoyed our visit and I'd recommend hotel and city to anyone.
This is a chain hotel in Friedrichshain. The hotel is reasonably new, clean and fine. Right outside a U-Bahn station (Samariterstr) with direct connection to Alexanderplatz. There is a supermarket in the GF. So it is fine for a city trip to Berlin. The main concern might be the location. Berlin is huge so you will need to take the train/ubahn anyway to some attractions. Friedrichshain is a hip area in Berlin that might not be for everybody's tastes. If you look for something more traditional and central head for Kudamm / Charlottenburg area.
Great hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are clean and up to date. there is fast free WIFI. I only had room so did not try the breakfast thats 10 Euros. Plenty of places to eat. U bahn just outside hotel. Well worth a stay.
Stayed for 3 nights from 6th to 9th March, very clean and spacious rooms friendly staff and very convenient for the underground station. My only gripe was the breakfast at 10 euro's was a bit expensive but other than that was just perfect
Hotel situated right outside U-Bahn station, which comes in handy for visiting different places and getting to and from the airport. Wide variety of breakfast choices served. Hotel staff friendly, helpful and speak a variety of languages. Rooms well kept, clean and tidy. If it's your first trip to Berlin, a few days are required and this hotel offers a competitive price for what you will need.
Fabulous location as situated right beside the underground which brought us into the center or the airport. On arrival, the receptionist didn't seem too friendly. The elevator didn't work the whole time we were there and as I had only got my cast off from breaking my ankle less than 4 weeks prior to this, it wasn't ideal to be walking up and down the stairs constantly. It's close to some lovely pubs. Also a subway, burger king etc is close in case you want food that you are used to. The breakfast in the hotel was also lovely, wide variety to choose from. The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful enough when we needed to know anything. However, on our second night, it was freezing outside but the hotel was far too warm and we couldn't sleep (even with the dial in the room turned down) We would return here if we were to return to Berlin.
The hotel is very well located, just in front of a subway station (U-bahn - U5 line). Also, it is close to many bars/pubs and restaurants. Also it is very clean and the staff is very kind. But... The elevator broke... actually, the two elevators. The problem is that they stayed broken for more than 3 days. As our room was on the 4th floor, we had to carry our huge bags - without help - when we went to check out. So it was a "pain in the back".
Rosemary and I stayed here for three nights and we made a good choice for our first visit to Berlin. It is located in the east side of the city but a only a few stops on the Metro for Alexanderplatz which is one of the major hubs of tourism in Berlin. It can be accessed easily from Schonefeld Airport by underground to Frankfurter Allee and a short walk to the hotel. Or change lines at that station and take one stop to Samariterstrasse. Go up to ground level and the hotel is facing you. It is quite a basic little hotel but the room was spotless, compact and very well designed with everything you need for a city break. The bed was really comfortable. There are some lovely little restaurants in the area, our favourite was Intimes which served tasty food from a decent range of menu offer. We found the cuisine in this residential area to be excellent value for money. Not at all touristy. We highly recommend it. Stuart Ross
Visited here for mid-week break with partner to see the sights of Berlin. Hotel is in a good location with good transport links into the city centre. Subway station right outside the hotel which takes less than 5 minutes to get into the city centre. Hotel itself is basic but good enough for a city break. Few complains on here about the wifi, wasn't a huge issue for us as we could get mobile data however the wifi wouldn't be strong enough to maintain a steam or VPN connection. Less than ten minutes walk & you are in a street with around 100 pubs & restaurants which will suit almost everyone. Prices are reasonable and quality is excellent.
I stayed here in September 2015, for 11 days, location is excellent, U- Bahn just at door step, clean and hassle free. Wi- Fi connections were OK. overall will recommend this property. Staff is cooperative.Dr. Kamal Murdia, India
Rooms too warm and too noisy when window opened. Informed no air con as winter. Other than that good hotel, right next to tube line and numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance . Wifi worked but very slow and had to keep logging back in.
On main Frankfurter Allee street right on subway U5 Samaritserstrasse so dead easy for Airport Schonefeld by S9 Sbahn direct to F Allee Standard rooms very clean, quiet. Tea and coffee in rooms. Breakfast optional 10 Euros. WiFi is poor in room without booster (extra 50 deposit from reception) Foyer small with little bar, free drink for guests. Luggage lockers (free) first floor handy for checkout day. Easy to old East Berlin and bohemian areas around Friedrichshain and Warschauer Strasse
The hotel is very well situated with regard to public transport. It is built almost on top of the Samariter Strasse U-Bahn station, and is only one U-Bahn stop (U5) from the S-Bahn (S9) train that goes direct to Schonefeld Airport, and is only 7 U-Bahn stops away from Alexanderplatz - so roughly 10 minutes from the city centre. The rooms are clean and well-supplied with the usual amenities (including a safe). Traffic noise can be intrusive with the window open - so air conditioning may have to be used more often than the weather would indicate as necessary. I would also invest in a wifi router for the room - this is free on request, but you do have to pay a £50 deposit. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Immediate local area is very well served by excellent pubs, cafes and bars - some of which seem to stay open all night. Only minor quibble was that the walls seemed a bit thin - especially if you have, er, "energetic" neighbours. Fortunately, we overheard only one tryst - which, although passionate, was also mercifully brief.
We usually stay in similar hotels when travelling around the UK and to be fair this was better than we expected. The hotel is in a great location with plenty of shops around and the U Bahn station is right outside, which will take you to Alexanderplatz in a few stops. It is located on the very busy Frankfurter Strasse but didn't hear a peep from the room. The room itself was big, the beds very comfy but the only gripe was the heat in the nights. The air-conditioning system didn't seem to blow out any other temperature apart from tropical. Didn't use the restaurant. But overall a great budget hotel.
We had a short trip to Berlin and this hotel had a good offer which my daughter in law found and booked for us and them. Double room was very good, good size, clean and well lit. Comfy bed and quilts. Bathroom was nicely done out furniture good quality and modern. Had gel soap and hairdryer. Towels replaced daily. Rooms tidied and bed remade. Reception staff were excellent, spoke English and were helpful and accommodating with any requests. English and German tv channels, had Free use of universal plug. converter, nothing too much. Breakfast is 10 euros each, all you can eat, both cold and hot food. Would stay there again. They order tickets, advise and taxis, lots of info leaflets for guests, kettle and usual tea, coffee etc. U ban tube outside the door.
The hotel is OK. Location is not great. there is an Underground right next to it to arrive to AlexanderPlatz. The beds are 2 seperate beds joined to one - and they where very uncomfortable. we asked that they will be chnaged and they where a day after our arrival. The room as small and basic. The staff is OK, and the clercks at the desk are not very nice (thogh pleasent enough)
Don't claim you have wifi if it doesn't work! So I had read on some of the reviews that the wifi was bad and I hoped with the complaints maybe it had been fixed ?? In your room it cuts out every 30 seconds so the staff say you can get an in room router/hotspot as long as you leave a €50 deposit- did that and it was worse, didn't work at all. Clearly you don't care but happy to make plenty of excuses.
Cheap and relatively cheerful. This hotel is very basic, however the rooms are a reasonable size. Beds are not too bad and the breakfast was OK. For 65 quid a night you can't complain really. The location of this hotel is very good if you are looking for bars / night life / restaurants etc.
The hotel was affordable so we booked it in hotels.com. Our over-all it was okay and so-so. One issue I had was the wifi connection. I called the front desk from our room and when they answered the phone, the front desk personnel immediately told me that he would call me back in 5 minutes without even hearing me say anything yet. I was a bit patient that day so I said okay. 10 minutes has come and gone and I had to call them back again. I asked for the wifi password since the information on the card provided didn't let us connect. He was kind enough to repeat the password written on the card. I told them it wasn't working. Then he said you have to go downstairs because it doesn't work inside the room. I had to laugh out my anger... it was more like an order from him not an apologetic statement! One evening before going back to our room, I asked the front desk personnel if they had other universal plugs since my phone charger doesn't match european outlets. They had some available but you have to pay a huge amount of money for deposit. I declined the offer and didn't bother to charge anything during my stay. I was quite disappointed with the service but to be fair, the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Good location. Lots of bars/cafe/restraunts very close to the hotel. U bahn is right outside and it takes you to Alexanderplatz station which connects to most of Berlin. Wifi wasn't great. It kept disconnecting and sometimes just wasn't working.
Close to Boxhagener Platz, really nice place to go out for a beer, for a quick croissant you have bacca just downstairs and in front of the hotel, 24 hours supermarket.Nott so far for the city centre, with rental bike service and fridge in the room,(quite important)
Clean and comfortable with a subway station right outside the door. Modern rooms & bathrooms, all you need for a city break. Subwag is about 15-20 mins into centre of Berlin. Helpful staff and good lockers for left luggage. WiFi only available near the lifts or in reception. They have a notice saying they are currently experiencing problems with their network provider but it is a constant issue and continues to be. WiFi is crucial for us and they would have got an excellent 5* if it wasn't for this.
I stayed in two Best Western hotels on this trip to Germany. The other one - in Gorlitz - I would rate very highly, even by the generally high standards of BW. This one in Berlin is not of that quality. The lobby looks more like a youth hostel than a hotel (am I back in the DDR?) and this theme continues in the decor of the rooms and the very average buffet breakfast which felt like a canteen - with problems over replenishment of food items and cutlery. On a positive note, one of the front of house staff was very helpful with directions around the city. But overall a very average product at a full price = doesn't work.
Helpful and nice staff at reception. Underground metro literally outside the door which was very handy. Also a convenience store next door. Good cafes, bars around the area too. Room ok, bed average, but air-conditioning on the lowest setting didn't work well - had to have the windows open which meant the listening to the sounds of the busy street outside. Kettle and tea/coffee set in room, but no fridge. Wifi was non-existant in the room and terrible at reception, maybe enough to get your emails but not able to Skype my family or facebook etc. You have to pay for breakfast and it's ok but not great. Don't think i'll use this place again during the summer months as the a/c not working properly did not lead to a good nights rest and lack of wifi was an inconvenience.
The U-Bahn is located directly outside the hotel which is very helpful and a short distance to the main attractions. The rooms are good however the pillows are very large and often uncomfortable. The only real problem was the staff at the front desk, they are rude and unhelpful as we asked for recommendations for a restaurant and received a no help at all. The free wifi disconnects automatically every couple of minutes.
So stayed here from the 29th August to 1st September. It was part of a deal booked through easyjet. Its a really good hotel and fitted our needs exactly. I went with my son. We were in a room on the 3rd floor facing out onto Frankfurter Allee. The room was simply furnished and in good condition. Two minor gripes are that although we had two single beds, they were right next to each other, which both me and my son felt was a little too close for comfort. There was however, no means of moving the bed further apart. The room was very warm and the air conditioning didn't seem to be very effective. Unfortunately opening the window to cool the room made it very noisy. Still, it didn't really detract from the room. The bathroom was very clean and comfortable. We had a cleaner every day and the room was alwaysspotless. Breakfast was good. In the three mornings we had breakfast, there was always a good choice of food. I particularly liked the bread rolls. The hotel is right next to a Netto and this was good for cheap water, beer, snacks etc. There are some reasonably priced bars and restaurants in the area, but more up the street. The hotel is also right near a U-bahn and this runs straight into Alexanderplatz. From there you can get public transport all over Berlin using U-bahn, S-bahn or trams. We invested in a welcome berlin card and this was really good value. We travelled a lot on the public network. Wood I go to Berlin again? Yes, I think its a great city. Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes, I think for the money, its excellent value.
Several things disappointed us this time: 1. This time we booked a "Premium Komfortzimmer", which turned out to be exactly the same as a standard room. The only difference I could see was two fanta and an apple juice in the minibar (which was never replenished during our stay). 2. The "Free WiFi" never worked - we were told already at check in it didn't work. 3. The A/C only produced noise, no cooling. Very annoying when it's +34 4. At check-in we were told that because I'm a Platinum card holder we could have breakfast for EUR 5 instead of 10. We had breakfast once, and at checkout the lady charged me EUR 15. When I asked why she said that even if I was a platinum card holder, my wife was not! That's about the most preposterous thing I've heard at any hotel, and I've been traveling in my work for 30 years.
it is close to publc transportation and easy to find restaurants around. Has a free wifi as well. Rooms are clean and large enough. Considering the price, this hotel can be described as a value for money.
This is an excellent hotel at Friedrichshain, very peaceful and clean rooms, very good service and staff and even the towels were smelling nicely :) I would love to suggest this hotel to all my friends.
AGON G, Leiter Front Office at BEST WESTERN Hotel City Ost, responded to this review
Dear Beisa G, Thanks for your feedback, which we appreciate very much. We are very pleased that you liked our service. It is very important to us that the guests feel well in the Best Western Hotel City Ost and even feel at home. We are happy to read that we have succeeded doing that. Come to visit us again in Berlin, we wish you a pleasant time until then and all the best. Best regards S.Schnitt Front Office Manager
Well located, close to very nice restaurants and near the clubs and the city center, very nice staff, the only problem is our room did not have air conditioning and was very hot but it was not a deal breaker
I stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be a great place to stay while visiting Berlin's east side and center. First of all, it had all of the essentials (comfy bed, helpful staff, clean rooms). I also liked it because it was very easy to get to from Tegel airport even though it is far away. Email the hotel staff for directions (thanks again, staff) and you will be well prepared. It might be a good idea to check out a video or two on youtube about using Berlin's public transport if you are a Euro traveling newbie like I am. Another great thing about the hotel is that it is a 30 second walk to the Samariter Street subway station. From here, it is very easy to get to the museum and shopping area located around Alexander Platz. No transfer required and very quick. It is also easy to use the Alexander Platz subway station to get to other parts of Berlin. Finally, I liked this hotel because there were many restaurants and cafes along Frankfurter Allee and its sidestreets. A great bakery (as well as Dunkin Donuts) is just a few doors down from the hotel and a wonderful restaurant called Anastasia's is nearby (on corner of Samariterstrasse and Schreinerstrasse. Great food and service at extremely reasonable prices. The area is quiet despite being on a busy thoroughfare (it's fun to walk...very very open). There is a convenience store and an apothecary just across the street ( I had a bit of a cold, so this was convenient). My only gripe - and it is minor- is that my wifi didn't work for a day in my room, but it did work in the lobby. This was only a short period of time and a very minor inconvenience. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly for solo or couple travellers.

Dear Mike, Thank you very much for your kind words, which we will forward to our staff. We like to read that you liked your room and the central location of the hotel. We are looking forward to your next visit and wish you until then all the best and sunny days. Best regards, S.Schnitt Front Office Manager
The hotel is well located, the service is good, the rooms are clean and comfortable but there's one big problem, the Wifi didn't work on our room, even in the lobby the connection was really bad, it keeps dropping. Please fix this, for people traveling from abroad it's really important.
This hotel has everything you need for a visit to Berlin! It has everything you need right on the door step..pubs, restaurants, shops and the underground is only a minute away which means you can get to the centre of Berlin in 15 minutes. The room was clean and well serviced. The air conditioning was very effective, making it a pleasant stay. Highly recommended

Each time we've had a great stay. The hotel is clean, spacious, and air-conditioned (which we craved in this summer heat!). Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is at an extra cost but plentiful and of good quality. Located outside the main city centre but the nearest underground station is right outside the door(no noise issues) and 5 stops from Alexander Platz. Can't fault this hotel!
first time visit to Berlin so did not know what to expect but on arrival was pleasantly surprised the hotel was modern and in a good location in the east of Berlin. we were giving a room on the front of the hotel facing the main road but had no problems with the traffic noise. the room was clean and had all the usual amenities. the only bad thing was the wifi in the room was a hit or miss but was great in the lobby. the staff were all very helpful and gave great advice on how to get about Berlin. a metro station was located right outside the hotel so it was a great way we found explore the city. the hotel breakfast was good with a good choice of hot or cold food we hope to visit the city again and would have no problems using this hotel as their are many more sights we have still to see.
The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room stayed quiet all night. The wifi is not very good; you can't stream any movies or stay on very long. The breakfast was wonderful, and we liked the location--two steps to the subway.
Hotel easily accessed by subway system in berlin. Just 20 minutes from the central sightseeing areas. Would recommend to anyone coming to stay in the city. Clean, modern, staff helpful. Subway stop Samaristrasse is right next to hotel.
Just back from my sons stagdo stayed here for 2 days it was ok room was clean and tidy we looked into a apartment block that was getting refurbished a bit noisy in the morning. Location was not to bad if you wanted to use the trains we did not eat in the hotel as out all day would use the hotel again
The location was ideal for us as we were visiting our daughter who lives a short walk away from the Hotel. If we were not visiting her, the location is still excellent as it is in an interesting part of Berlin, and the U5 stop is just about in front of the Hotel. The room was clean and the breakfast we had one morning was worth the modest price.
The worst hotel I've ever had to misfortunes to visit. I booked 2 twin rooms, 1 disabled. What I got was the smallest double . My Carer had to sleep on the floor. The bathroom was so small I couldn use my commode without fouling the hand rail. Finally, I need a hoist. The bed surround was nailed to the floor so I couldn't use the hoist at all. Best Western are usually great hotels, they ought to get rid of this one.
Berlin is a wonderful and amazing city. I went there with a friend of mine and we stood at the Best Western. Very nice Hotel in a perfect zone, very close to the U-Bahn to the centre and to the airport. Clean room with a big bathroom. The view from the window was not so nice, but who cares!? The most important thing was breakfast: various and delicious! I will come back! Y
Staying here at the moment, chose this hotel purely for location- directly next to the ubahn with links to the city very easy. Our first day was somewhat stressful, trying to work out how to get to the city as communication was unclear at the ubahn. What would normally be 5 or 6 stops on one ubahn train has become 2 stops on one train, swapping to another and a couple of stops again... Then a bus replacement service. Instructions for this is only in German, and only via (via quiet) sound system- very easily missed. Also no indication of where the bus replacement goes from- it's a couple of blocks from the ubahn. Not the hotel's fault of course, but a big niggle for our stay as we're wary of returning too late in the evenings as we don't know what time the buses run until. Hotel room is pleasant but boiling hot. Air con (if you can call it that?) Is the equivalent to a small fan at the top of a wall. Our room overlooks the main street so is too noisy to have the window open. It's nice and quiet from noise inside the hotel though- you can't hear other guests. The pillows are a bit odd- big and square-shaped.... They take up half the bed. My partner has to scrunch his up so he can fit on the bed, so isn't very comfortable. The staff are very nice, but don't speak English hugely well, though do their best to help. The WiFi works really well, which I wasn't expecting from other reviews (we're on the 5th floor). In all- apart from the air con (and if the ubahn is working as normal) this is a great hotel for a inexpensive stay in Berlin.
The heat was the only thing that spoiled it. The room was nice, beds comfortable, excellent breakfast, good location (at least it will be when they've finished maintenance on the U5 underground line - bus service in operation until, I think, the end of May 2016). I particularly appreciated the kettle/tea making facilities. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road. When the window was closed it shut out all the traffic noise - but when open it was very noisy. However the room soon became uncomfortably hot with the window closed. This may have been partly due to the mini fridge which generated a disproportional amount of heat to its cooling capacity. The air conditioning seemed to have no effect - possibly to do with the fact that it was affected by the cold temperature outside.
Decent hotel, reasonably priced and the staff are polite and helpful. Stayed here in November 2015 (its FREEZING in Berlin in November, go in the summer!!!) and I honestly don't have a bad word to say. Decent hotel in a decent location with friendly and helpful saff - what more could you want?
Very nice staff, clean and cosy rooms. Wi-fi access is good with normal speed. Breakfast was tasty and various. Location is near to the center. And it's good to get to different sightseeing places. Staff speaks in different languages.
A bit basic but the price was good, plus at nice location right by an S-Bahn station in an interesting part of town. I would give this place top marks for value for money, but unfortunately our small room was quite hot and stuffy, making it hard to sleep at times. Investigating the problem the second morning I found that the culprit was the minibar fridge, which was not stocked, but which for all its uselessness was nevertheless on and was pumping quite a lot of excess heat into the room. The inside did not feel particularly cool either, so it might have been broken for all I know. I mentioned this at the reception in the morning and they promised they would send someone to unplug it (I wished them good luck in my mind, as the thing was mounted inside a cabinet, with the plug totally unreachable). Indeed, returning in the evening I found it was still going at full blast. Maybe they had done something to it, as sleeping the last night was easier, but I'm not convinced . The one thing that could be turned off was the air conditioning, which indeed it was, as I was told by the staff. I was not impressed either by the design or the attempts to correct the problem. Also, the free wifi did not reach our room on the top (6th) floor, so it was free wifi in the hotel lobby for us. Without these two problems it would have made a great budget stay, but unfortunately it did not.
Cosy room, clean and nice, excellent location, for SBahn and under ground rail, easy access to supermarkets / restaurants. Air conditioner was not working - was quite warm inside the room ,WIFI is hopeless, break fast is nourishing and value for money . Hotel staff / reception is very friendly and is available 24 hours. Overall good value for money. ps. do keep your wallet intact everytime , when you are out on the road, I was lucky enough to recover it in the second instance too.
Good location, clean and ordered hotel. Friendly and flexible concierge. Good breakfast, sunny and well lit breakfast room. Fast and free wifi connection, with plenty of speed and bandwidth for remote connections. VPN allowed.
The hotel is generally clean and nice with a great location and a good price. Now the bad part. I hardly slept at all. The room was like an oven and the air conditioning did not work, so you had to have the window open. 6 lanes of noisy traffic is not a nice lullaby. :-(
We have just come back from staying here for three days and could not fault the hotel. Its position means it is fairly quiet at night but has terrific transport links, especially the u-bahn stop being almost outside. You can get to Alexanderplatz in six stops, so shops and really good restaurants are close by. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and charming. Did I mention the breakfasts? Incredible variety, from muesli to bacon and eggs, croissants, fresh fruit salads, yogurt and a big choice of drinks. We stayed on the six floor, which was very quiet.
the hotel is very well located right on subway lines and bordering a very cool neighborhood with lot of restaurants and bars. the staff is very helpful. the wifi is crap as has been said in all the reviews. i don't think they care though.
Great hotel Excellent staff (Management please note in particular the lady who was on the desk during morning week commencing 21/03/16 was a total credit to your hotel).Location was great as previous reviews state .. you can buy your ABC cards from here ,staff more than willing to help you find or plan a day out .. breakfast in hotel was good egg bacon sausage and continental ,help yourself.Bars nearby were a bit hit and miss just depending what you want if you fancy like a normal pub Petes bar is a good pub (turn left out of hotel .first left then first right about 3 min walk prices good pint and half of Berliner about 4.60 euro).plenty of other bars and restaurants to suit all , make sure you AVOID Yogi Haus Indian looks great but its far from it.. its worth getting the site seeing bus use your ABC card and you can get tour for 10 euros these buses just do a circular of the main tourist spots there's more than one bus so you can hop an and hop off all day on one ticket.
Situated absolutely perfectly by the U-Bahn Samariterstrasse, close to everything. The area Friedrichain is hip and cosy with many bars and restaurants. The rooms are nice and the staff friendly. The wifi-connection suchs and is really not working from the 6'th floor. It just has to work considering we are in the year 2016! I would recommend the hotel if you don't care about wifi in your room.
Honestly I was quite pleasantly surprised. I'm a very demanding hotel guest as spend 200+ days a year in hotels due to my job. Room was clean and comfortable though admittedly a bit small. My biggest worry was noise. However sound insulation was very good - in comparison to a UK budget hotel which will have cardboard walls and door this hotel has heavyweight insulation everywhere. Even opening the door you notice how heavy it is. Other guests have to be making a lot of noise before you can even slightly hear them. Location is incredibly convienient, both for the U-Bahn (20ft from entrance) and local amenities - there's a Netto more or less next door. In response to other people's comments about wi-fi, there IS wi-fi in the rooms, but the router appears flakey and needed a reboot whilst we were there. After we reported issues this was done in 5 minutes and the wi-fi went from non-existent to very good indeed. I wonder if that was the problem others experienced. I would stay again.
The location was great, there was an underground at the door, literally, which linked us up easily to all of the attractions that we wanted to see. There is a supermarket next door that sells crates of beer for around 7 euro! Also, the location is in the heart of what I would consider the "metal" quarter, although to be fair I may have made that up! All I know is there are a tonne of rock and metal bars within staggering distance, and that suited us well as it was freezing! Check out some of the cool pubs, like Halfords, and the Rock und Wikingerbar that are literally around the corner. (I will be reviewing them too, if you're curious) There are plenty of places to eat dotted within a block of the hotel, so it really is a great place to stay. The room was nice and spacious. Fairly clean and the cleaning staff turn down your room each day unless you specify otherwise. The staff were very accommodating overall. If you needed anything, you only had to ask the reception. Most of the services were free, too, which was very hospitable! A couple of negatives- the double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together and we had separate duvets. This made for a bit of an uncomfortable sleep as I was scared I may fall in between the middle so kept turning and waking up. Not ideal for a double room! Also, on our last day, we received an unwelcome wake up call from the cleaning staff, who just walked right in while we were still in bed! They left when they realised we were still in bed, but I did feel a tad violated especially as I don't sleep with jammies on. Plus, they entered despite the "do not disturb" sign being on the door! They also waited outside, huffing and eyeing the guests as they left. I understand being keen to make a start, but really, give people some space to leave and don't rush them! (we did check out before the due time, btw) Overall, I would come back to this hotel, but only if we could get a real double bed. I'm not sure whether you can request this, but I couldn't see anywhere on the website that allowed for such a request.
We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, but, it is clean and comfortable. There's an S-Bahn stop about 400m from the hotel door and a U-Bahn station right outside so it's very accessible. Boxhagener platz is within walking distance and has some cool bars and restaurants, as well as a market on weekends. So, for the price it's a decent place to stay.
I was hardly in this hotel and we were out all day and evening. However it was a clean and comfortable room with big pillows and a nice bathroom. There was wifi in reception and the staff were very friendly, letting us leave our suitcases in the luggage room after we checked out on the last day. Can't comment on breakfast as we didn't have it. The location was fantastic - just a few subway stops from Alexanderplatz. There is a grocers across the road which was great so we could buy bottled water and fruit.

A good budget hotel. Nothing fancy. Recently stayed here for a business conference held at Kosmos, just down the road. Right next to an underground station, and with many options for food within a few minutes walk or a couple of tube stops.

Room was ok, bathroom very nice with good size shower. Breakfast very nice with lots to choose from. Wifi rubbish, not working properly during whole stay (2nts). Excellent location next to Samatarian U-bahn.

Dear Sannain, thank you for beeing a guest in the Best Western Hotel City Ost and portray us your feedback for this purpose . We are pleased that we were able to convince you of our services and regret at the same time that you have with the WLAN problems. The problem is already in work. Here are the necessary changes initiated. Best Regards S.Schnitt Front Office Manager
We stayed here on a short weekend break. The hotel is so close to public transport - you literally walk out of the hotel and down the steps into the U bahn. The hotel is small but very clean and comfortable. The rooms are nice - we were in a room on 4th floor overlooking Frankfurter Allee and we were concerned it would be very noisy but not at all - the sound insulation of the windows must be very good! The breakfast is good and was a great start to the day before we headed off to explore the city. The dining room décor is probably a bit drab or sterile but this is a minor issue. I think we would definitely use this hotel again as it's location is brilliant. One downside is the wifi in the rooms is poor but works perfectly in reception!
This hotel is on a great location right near the U-Ban station which takes around 10 min to reach Alexanderplatz and runs very frequently. Rooms are clean and spacious, beds are comfortable and are made up every day. Bathroom is also big with all appliances, fresh towels and temperature control. Breakfast is full of various, fresh and tasty meals. Staff is helpful and friendly. Internet is free with good connection at the lobby and not so great but manageable in the rooms.
We recently spent 4 nights in Berlin staying t the best western hotel. The hotel is very plain but functional, the staff are very helpful and friendly and do what they can to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are quite plain, bathrooms are well equipped and the showers are very nice, always warm and powerful. The hotel was very clean and the rooms always immaculate when we returned to the hotel. Fridge in the room is a nice touch, but there is no tea or coffee facilities, so take a travel kettle if you like a cuppa, or alternatively you can collect one from reception for free if you like.
We stayed for 8nts in Dec 2015. If you were staying for a few days it'd be ok, but we wouldn't recommend for a longer stay or for any sightseeing holidays as you'll spend most of your time travelling to the city/west.It's main perk is its cheap, but you sacrifice wifi and location. - Its clean and a nice little hotel, and reception are friendly - Patrick especially! - The wifi is so bad! It barely works in reception and doesnt work in the rooms - despite it advertises "high speed internet" - No hot drinks facilities in the room: you can get a crate from reception that has a kettle etc (if they have any left),but you need to collect tea bags and sachets daily from reception (if they have any left). This seems petty but its just really annoying - It's right outside of a U-Bahn station, easy to get to from the airport, trains also run very late. However the train fare can add up - 7 euros each for a day ticket, but you can get weekly tickets - Theres a few shops near by, and a street with some bars and resturants/take outs which is convenient - Good buffet breakfast, but the menu doesnt change so after a week you'd get bored of eating the same thing - The resturant's only open for breakfast. The "bar" is some stools at the end of reception desk - Even if you have the "Do not disturb" sign on the door, or if you're in the corridor on your way out, the cleaners will still insist on giving you more clean towels!
this hotel is in a great location right outside the U Barn which takes around 10 mins to Alexanderplatz and run very frequently. It is also around a 10 min walk from Frankfurter Allee S Bahn which is around 30 mins train ride from the airport. The rooms are a nice size, the bed comfortable, the shower decent and you also get a small fridge which was perfect for storing a few drinks. We were overlooking the main road which was noisy but with the window closed you really couldnt hear it at all. The breakfast certainly wasn't amazing but it was good enough to set you up for the day. We didn't spend much time in the area directly around the hotel as we were exploring the centre of Berlin but it seemed plesent enough. Overall, a good and reasonably priced hotel which did the job we wanted it too.
We have just returned from our stay here at this hotel and it's exactly what we needed. It is very clean in the bedroom/bathroom and we had a nice comfy bed, what more do you need really. I would say however, It is pretty basic in the rooms and they are quite small, it also has a small lobby in the reception where you can buy drinks In a little bar area, but for the price it's not going to be luxury. It's cheap and cheerful and if you use it for just a base and not planning on spending all day in the room it's fab! The WiFi by the way worked perfectly for us, as some people seem to comment on how bad it was, but it worked a treat while we were there, so all I can do is praise that as well. The location is brilliant! We went for the Christmas Markets, so the fact the Ubahn is right outside meant getting around the city was a breeze & everywhere we wanted to visit was easily accessed. We would definitely return if we were to take another mini break or short stay in Berlin.
Nice hotel, near to a train station. Clean and functional for a visit. The only problem was the wify that didn't work at the hotel. We didnt get any refund as we thoght we should get. We havent order a breakfat at the hotel.
Actually a quite ok hotel with large rooms (rather small beds, though), a good breakfast buffet and friendly staff. The air condition didn't work. A lot of traffic noise. Close to u-bahn and 10 minutes to Alexanderplatz. A nice area with good restaurants.
I stayed here my last night in Germany while on a business trip.. It is close to airport, approx. 10 min…..you tell the front desk when you are ready to leave and they push a button and taxi there in seconds.. Very nice hotel as I wasn't expecting that being a Best Western but realize in Germany this hotel chain is very popular and it also has a restaurant on site that was very good! Quiet rooms… clean.. the tv has a few English speaking channels, but literally only a few.. That is one thing I noticed being I stayed in 5 hotels while there that you can't find anything to watch unless a news channel in English, so download shows to watch! They do have free wireless… I stayed here alone and felt very safe and taken care of..
We booked this hotel because of its location. We were visiting friends who live close by and only have a small flat. The hotel itself is okay and I would book it again when visiting again. Location is great -the underground Samariter Straße is right outside and you can get into town ie Alexanderplatz quite quickly. The underground/U-Bahn and overground/S-Bahn Frankfurter Allee is 5-10 mins walk away and from there it's about half an hour to the airport Schönefeld. Around the hotel in Friedrichshain there's loads of shops, bakeries, cafes, pubs, restaurants only a short walk away. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, so can't comment. The hotel room was quite small but sufficient if you don't want to spend much time there. The bathroom was an ok size and had a shower cubical which I prefer to a bath. But I thought the sink was a bit impractical being square and the tap was all or nothing when turned on, but you got used to it and figured out how to put it on without splashing yourself. Cleaning generally okay but room for improvement in some areas. There was a minibar we used as a fridge for our own supplies. If you want the minibar stocked you need to ask. But with a supermarket next door and a late opening corner shop opposite there's no need for an expensive minibar. Beds were comfy and duvets good. The pillow was a bit thick and firm for my liking but that is very subjective. I would have liked to give 4 points but there were a few things we didn't like. One minor thing was that you had to ask for a kettle. It was free but don't understand why it came in a box. Also it didn't come with milk but whitening powder. We bought milk from the supermarket next door. And the cups were a bit small. Another thing which I thought was odd was the fact that reception staff felt the need to speak English to us. We are a German British couple but both speak perfect German especially to German staff in Germany. That was very odd but happened in other places as well. All this is minor though. The thing we really didn't like was the fact that 3 different receptionists insisted that they hadn't received payment yet despite the fact that i showed them the booking. I had to pay again when checking out and then later claim it back by emailing my credit card statement as proof. The management has apologised but that really shouldn't happen.
Just returned from a long weekend staying at this hotel and had a brilliant time. Excellent location right next to the U bahn, which takes 5 mins to get into Alexanderplatz, a nice area with lots going on and hood connections on the U and S bahn. Good location for Schonefeld airport too, about half an hour into Frankfurter Allee just down the road, 1 stop away. That journey was about 3 euros, and a 3 day travel pass was only about 27. Room was on top floor, very clean and good facilities. Great windows blocked out all noise, we slept really well!Reception staff really nice and helpful. Overall a great stay and excellent value.
My wife and I stayed for 4 nights end Oct 2015. A very convenient location for the city and airport. Get a Berlin welcome card zones ABC to cover your travel. The train from the airport stops at the staion near the U bahn just one stop from the hotel and the U bahn stop is outside the hotel. The breakfast buffet is great value. We were on the second floor by the lift but found it very quiet although the hotel was full. WiFi was fine for surfing and emails etc. Room was small but ok. Kettle etc available from reception. Bed not wonderful - two singles pushed together, definately not Premier Inn style. Staff welcoming and helpful. The real strength is value for money and convenience of the U bahn outside the door.
Stayed here last November. Hotel was in a good location about 20 minutes on the ubarn to the city centre. Transport was very close, nice bars and restaurants nearby. Rooms were decent but our showers ran out of hot water on the last day. Breakfast was included and there were plenty of options. Cheap enough price for a city break holiday.
A simple clean, comfortable hotel in an excellent location only 4 stops on the underground (station is right outside the hotel door) from Alexanderplatz. We had rooms at the back which currently overlook a building site so there was some early morning noise from the builders. I'm guessing that the front facing rooms may also suffer from some traffic noise as the hotel is on a busy road. Breakfast was 10Euro which was quite good value. There was a good selection and you can eat all you want. There is no bar as such although there was a small seating area in reception where you could buy a drink if you wanted to. However, this isn't a problem as you couldn't wish for a better location for bars and restaurants in the evening. It was a 5 minute walk to Simon Dach Strasse which is full of some great places to eat and drink. I would recommend a stroll to the very bottom of this street where you will find an area of disused railway buildings which have been converted into bars and clubs - a very 'happening' area with a great atmosphere.
A little out of the way but 10 steps to the underground which takes you direstraight to Alexanderplatz, local to approx 150 restaurants which are 10 mins walk away. Bakery and supermarket next door you can also get take away coffees from the bakery. The hotel itself is clean with comfortable beds although rooms are very basic. Wifi worked well in bedroom so didn't need to sit in reception as others have said. Staff were very helpful and happy to guide you, we invested in Berlin travel packs for 3 days so all our travel was covered a sight seeing bus and boat trip plus free museum etc entry worth every penny.
Close to u bahn station so easy to travel around. Small room ,quiet on courtyard side round the back. Free wifi but quite slow, best connection near on in lobby. Air con in room was still warm to hot on cool setting. Good if on budget. Many restaurants nearby.
The hotel is situated right next to a U-bahn stop on Samariterstrasse, which is hugely convenient for getting around town. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the rooms were of a decent size. The only problem was that there was no functioning air-conditioning and the rooms were too hot. In addition, the wifi is non-existent. It only seemed to work in the lobby area. The rooms did not have functioning wifi.
Stayed here for two nights location is brilliant, very close to main shopping areas and only one change from airport Schoenfeld. Underground is literally second's from hotel and trains go every five minutes to and from Alexanderplatz. Room on 6th floor was nice good size and we had no problem with WIFI. Didn't have breakfast as next door was Netto which did pastries etc Subway was few minutes walk or go one stop to Frankfurter Allee shopping centre or few stops to Alexanderplatz and there's loads of places to eat. Simon Dach Stabe street was great for eating in the evening although Buffalo restaurant in Alexanderplatz was good to seafood pizza's for 4Euro's stumbled across it just off tourist area. Staff in hotel very friendly provided map's and advice and when we had small problem member of staff came up instantly and fixed it.
...but...NO INTERNET IN THE ROOM! All what was previously reported as only in the lobby is true. At almost any time, fellow guests were bunched up there on their devices and two computers the hotel has there. And,yes, there is a "city tax" you're hit with.Only one day we had breakfast there, and a 20€ breakfast turned into about 27.50€ charge. In all, these are my only criticisms of the establishment. Of the latter,at 0200,wasn't going to argue. We are likely to return.
Staff were courteous and friendly & rooms were spotless.Very nice neighbourhood with plenty of shops, cafes and late bars.Only a short hop by U bahn to Alexander Platz.Really good value for money as well.Highly Recommended.
Hotel is ideally located right by the underground which is very easy to use. Just make sure you validate your ticket at each stop. There is a bakery one side of hotel and a supermarket the other, and opposite is what we think is a 24 hour mini market as it never seemed to close. Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable although too warm for me but quickly resolved by reception sending a fan up. Breakfast was good. Not a huge choice but it kept us going until the evening. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Printed off directions for us and provided maps of Berlin and the underground. Great hotel at a great price. Would definitely stay here again.
Positive: • a perfect breakfast - buffet, • clean Rooms, • friendly stuff • just 10 meter from the subway • a perfect price quality relation • WiFi in the lobby worked all the time • the car park is in a public garage next block (50 m to walk) well controlled via video. Negative: • WiFi in the room did not work all the time. • the hotel could not provide parking lots for the car Resume: • I will come back, it's a great place
This hotel is in a great location very close to the subway stop. Clean rooms comfortable beds we opted for a comfort room so had a fridge and tea and coffee facilities in the room. We were in the 5th floor and wifi was not reliable but signal became stronger closer to the lift. Staff at reception super helpful and friendly. Did not opt for breakfast, the coffee shop next door provided what we needed to start the day.
