« Great hotel lovely stay »

Excellent experience and a great place to stay in Bergen. Visited last oct for 2 nights, centrally located and staff were very friendly and helpful.Roons were large spacious and comfortable. The receptionist suggested some lovely restaurants for dinner that served Elk meat and whale meat. Simply wow.

    « Value for money »

Central location in Bergen. Clean room and friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Coffe and tea maker on the room is always a pluss. Good bed, and quiet. Newly renovated bathroom. Strange that there is no real door between the room and the bathroom

« Good location but old and small rooms »

The hotel is conveniently located, relatively close to stores, tourist highlights, etc. However, I found the rooms to be rather small and outdated, and the wooden floors make that it is pretty noisy at times as you can hear people walking in rooms next to you, above you and underneath you. Although the price per night is not unreasonable at all for Norway, I would opt for a more modern hotel next time.

« Great little hotel near to everything »

Hotel is great. Neat, compact, free wifi, good range of food for breakfast, and comfortable bed. When we were about to go out for some exploring, the bloke in reception warned us it was going to rain, so we went and put on our wet gear and off we went. No rain, just light snow. Of course My wife in these situations has no self restraint at all. Yes, throwing a snowball at her husband. Of course being Sunday pretty much everything is closed, but it was fun walking around in the snow. I have to say that even with our special snow boots we were both very cautious about slipping over, but we didn't. Found a few tourist shops ready to sell us stuff so we did our bit for the local economy. Some shops had signs saying Closed For The Season. They clearly don't rely on silly Australian tourists during winter. Still, it's a very pretty place. We had coffee at Starbucks, then wandered back to our hotel where the bloke in reception said, ?How was that?? ?Cold and wet,? I replied. ?That's Bergen in a nutshell,? we were told.

« Great stay at a great price. »

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is old as would be expected but beautifully maintained and obviously upgraded. It was very modern European with old European charm. While the rooms are small they are very comfortable and accommodating. My room was perfectly quiet and I enjoyed three very good nights sleep. I loved the heated bathroom floors. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. Kim checked me in, but all other staff members are equally deserving of praise including the chef. On the morning I left he invited me to have breakfast even though it was early and not set up. By the way~ an excellent breakfast is served daily. The location is perfect, on the harbor. Many attractions, restaurants, clubs and shops are just a short walk away. Great price, great place, great stay! No doubt I'd stay there on my next visit to Bergen.

VERY LITTLE HEAT. CANNOT MOVE IN ROOM BECAUSE SO SMALL. awful awful room. I arrived late and was extremely tired. There was very little heat in the room. I was too tired so I slept dressed since I only had one blanket. Its not a room but a closet. Could not shower, just too small and too cold.

    « A perfect little get away »

My wife and I took a quick vacation flight from Providence, RI (USA) to Bergen, Norway. We stayed at the Best Western. We found the location of the Hotel to be excellent, walking distance to everything a visitor might want to do in Bergen. Our room accommodations were very comfortable and accommodating. The best part of the hotel was it's Norwegian Breakfast, I never had three varieties of herring for breakfast before. The food was excellent, the service provided by "Ann Karin" the breakfast hostess was just perfect. Their bread is freshly baked and delicious. My wife loved the home made yogurt and the wild berry toppings. The front desk was also very accommodating, ask for help from Olaug or Mikkel and they will go out of their way to help. We would stay here again.

    « Disappointing »

This wasn't the cheapest hotel available, so I was expecting better. The hotel looked tired, despite the rooms having been decorated, it still had a shabby feel. I had a double room. The bed was a small double, the room was very small. Tea & coffee making facilities were basic. No teaspoon to stir the drinks. Water already in the kettle on arrival. I had to pull out the TV socket to be able to plug in the kettle. When I went down to breakfast, there was not enough seating for everyone. I will not be staying here again & don't recommend it.

    « Good location »

The location is very convenient since it is close to the downtown area as well as train terminal and ferries. It is also quite quiet. Room was neat and staff were very fast. However, we requested a double bed but had to singles that were pushed together. Not very nice.

    « Convenient hotel »

After having stayed in a Best Western in Oslo, this hotel was a better surprised as the rooms are refurbished and include a modern touch with coffee/team making facilities and better amenities. The location is 5 min by foot far from a bus stop where you can be connected to any place in the city, also there you can take the bus to Bergen Central station which is only 10 min away. The rooms were clean and breakfast was traditionally continental. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

    « dissapointed »

when we booked I asked for a high floor with good view not to small as I walk with a walking stick just a basic room overlooking offices and roof tops Then the problem started the shower sorry hose pipe not a shower and the bathroom flooded every day so DANGEREST I ASKED THE ROOM MAID SHE SAID ALL THE ROOMS ON THAT FLOOR WERE THE SAME The hotel is situated on streets Graffiti as well it is a good walk from the bus station and a longer walk to the train station 200 nok taxi fare as there are no public service buses or trams near the hotel they seem to concentrate on there coach parties and not individuals breakfast average only bacon if you have a fried egg then you have to avoid the time the coach parties are having breakfast or no room

    « Not too shabby »

I was a bit worried about this hotel after reading the reviews but I got a great deal in an expensive city so went for it. We were very happy with the hotel. It is not 5 star but is clean and central to everything bergen has to offer. The airport bus stops at the fish market and the hotel is a few blocks back along the water. The town shops are 5 min walk and the train 10 mins walk. We were given a good sized room on the 6th floor with views of the mountains over the rooftops. I loved that we could open the windows. There was a safe in room but no fridge. For the price we payed we couldn't have been happier. Wished they had a few more English channels on to as we could only watch the depressing news.

« Fine dining in the lobby »

If your answer to finding an hotel in Bergen is to walk back from the waterfront to the graffiti strewn side streets, complete with dumped electric ovens then this hotel is, literally, right up your street. Trip hazards are the order of the day in the corridors, akin to a ship's bulkhead. A panoramic view from our bedroom of the neighbouring roofs and overlooking dormer windows was complimented by meals being taken in the hotel lobby, complete with the automatic open front door to ensure you didn't overheat as you consumed the set culinary delight, and the reception desk at your elbow. At least it was clean, if basic.

    « Clean, nothing special »

An affordable room in a very expensive city/country. We are here just one night before boarding the Hurtigruten Polarys cruise through the fjords of Norway. The room is clean and the location very good - close to the pier. fishmarket and downtown. Nothing wrong with this hotel.

« Great stay in Bergen! »

My wife and I stayed 2 nights on our arrival to Norway. The staff were quite helpful on our stay and the room and breakfast were good. The location was great as we were close to the sights, but not right in the middle of the crowds in mid July. Packing & paying a reasonable fee for sandwiches at breakfast was a great way to save some money for our lunch. We would definitely recommend this place!

« Average hotel in good location »

Stayed at the BW Hotel Hordaheimen for one night. The best feature of this hotel is location- it is 5-10 mins from the City Center, fish market and Bryggen quai. Otherwise, not much else to praise - rooms are tiny with no view, breakfast is basic in a very crowded dining area - no free parking (can buy a place near the hotel for 125NOK /day), wifi was free but slow.

« Awesome Location, Great Staff »

This hotel is filled with Norwegian charm. The décor was great, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was phenomenal, but what I loved most about the hotel was the pleasant staff. Mikkel helped me with my check-in. I had made a mess of my reservation, but Mikkel was super helpful and friendly. He had me squared away in no time and helped make my stay in Bergen extremely pleasant one.

    « Great Location »

The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is located just a short walk from Bergen's Fish Market, Tourist Information and it's infamous Bryggen. Whilst it's located close to the centre of Bergen it is in a quiet area. It's also nice to get a view of Bryggen from across the harbour as you walk from this hotel into the centre. The rooms were nice, small but comfortable and clean. Shower was really nice. Breakfast was also nice and plentiful, however the breakfast area is quite small. Our first morning here we were lucky enough to get a table but a few people didn't. On the second morning we shared a table with two other people as there was no other space available. Wi-fi was good, no major problem. The only criticism I would have for this hotel would be the reception staff. Upon arrival the receptionist on duty checked us into our room with no great conversation or communication. The next morning a different receptionist was of no help to ourselves or the couple in front of us. It was clear he had no interest in trying to help. However, I will not take away from all reception staff with that criticism as those we met on the second morning were friendly. Small hotel but in a great location.

« Good hotel in a great location, pleasant service, thanks to the receptionist ( Sverrc) for the kindness and help »

Good hotel in a great location, pleasant service, thanks to the receptionist . The hotel environment is wonderful, close to the center, to the market kindness and help I would love to go back and spend time in this wonderful city

    « Excellent Breakfast »

Hotel had a really nice atmosphere when you first walk in. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic, they have beautiful freshly baked bread which was divine! The bed was really comfortable and no problems with hot water. The location is also really good for exploring Bergen!

« Good Base for Exploring Bergen »

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a Titan tour of Norway. On the plus side it is ideally centrally placed to explore central Bergen and Bryggen on foot. It is however a small hotel with a small dining area adjacent to the front door. There is a very small lobby and no public rooms. The rooms are modern and well appointed but a bit on the small side. Breakfast is a buffet with a limited choice of food which is however fresh and of good quality. Dinner is a fixed menu; good quality but no choice! Our Titan party of 43 just about filled the hotel!

« Good, central location near Bergen harbour fishmarket (Torget) »

Good and helpful front office staff. Lovely old-style breakfast area next to the lobby, excellent buffett breakfast included. Reasonable-sized room and bathroom, clean, quiet, free wifi. Good, central location near Torget (the fishmarket) and Strandkaien. Would stay again.

    « Great location! »

Located right by the wharf (opposite Bryggen), it is in walking distance to the fish market and most sights. The room was big, clean and had a pretty view of Mt. Floyen. The breakfast was also very nice! The bed was just two twins pushed together, which was weird, but otherwise a nice place to stay.

« A lovely city, lots of interest, great riding the funicular railway to see the great views at the top »

My single room was the right size, comfortable and a bonus was having tea/coffee tray in room. Shower could have been better but the temperature was good. excellent choice for breakfast, I liked having fish for breakfast. I must say a special thank you to the staff member who got my breakfast for me each morning owing to my walking with sticks. She also made me a lovely big sandwich to take away on the morning I had to leave at 6.45 to get the bus to the airport. Certainly good to have breakfast starting at 6.30, a few other people there had time to sit and eat. I also liked the location, close to the main Bryggen area. Location for me is always a priority.

    « Great location »

This hotel is so well located for anyone coming off the Norway in a Nutshell tours Staff are super helpful. Nice clean room and very good breakfast room which is available to guests for take out use should they want and in expensive Norway that was a bonus.

    « Good location, comfortable »

We spent 3 nights here before going to Oslo. The hotel was easy to find as it was very central and the price was very reasonable. All the reception staff spoke English and were accommodating (the free fruit by the desk was a nice touch) The rooms were clean, bathroom was a good size. No view to speak of as it was opposite another building. It was very quiet during the stay and we slept great. The food was fine. It's as you'd expect from the other views, no surprises but was comfortable :).

    « great situation »

This was an excellent hotel in a great location, the room was a good size, though the bathroom was a bit small but it was fine, the towels were changed every day even though we hung them up, it was nice to come back from our days out to a clean & tidy room & bathroom everything is within easy walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast was good, usual continental fare but plenty of it.

    « Good location »

Good location. We had to take a ferry to flam the next day,and the hotel is only 200 m to the ferry station. The room was small but clean, and the breakfast was simple but enough to us. We had an good stay expwrience.

    « Very central hotel »

Hotel ideally situated, very central. Beds very comfortable and rooms kept very clean. Breakfast buffet had an excellent selection, nice touch too, free tea and coffee all day in the restaurant and in the afternoon cake as well, at 5pm there was also hot soup available free. This was something I've not seen before. Pricing also very reasonable for Norway.

« A good stay in the centre of the city »

Stayed here for teo night but unfortunately arrived on Norway's Day so had a great dea of difficulty getting to it as it is within the city street closure area. Don't plan to arrive or leave on 17 May. Staff were helpful for the most part, only one who was diffident but having said that not rude, while others were happy to go out of their way to serve. The breakfast was included and was very good. I am puzzled at why the bacon is served on the fried egg? I prefer scrambled egg but still like to have bacon. Why? The room was quite spacious though the robe too close to the door to fully open the door to the room. It is lovely to have an in room fridge. Much appreciated as well was the tea and coffee makaing facility in room. Elements of lovely decor hiding throughout the building but overall it was quite a plain place. The location is likely one of its most desiable features, close to the shopps, the harbour, the old village which is still alive with shops. Happy with our stay and would recommend the place to others ... maybe best if you don'tave a car as parking is really limited and we ad to park in a city 24 hour park at double the rate.

« Good location, quiet spot and nice staff »

The hotel is within walking distance of the water area, great shopping and good restaurants. The staff is helpful and the rooms were clean. We had a larger room with a sofa and chairs but there wasn't a refrigerator in the room.

« Perfect central location, friendly staff, free tea/coffee all day! »

Location: Central Bergen, 7 mins walk to Floyen tram. Right opposite the famous wooden houses overlooking the water. 5 mins walk to the Fish Market. 5 mins walk to the Ice Bar. Loads of museums around, all walking distance. Bus to airport (Flybuss) is 10 mins walk across the water and takes 30 mins to get to and from airport. Room: Twin room was fine, clean, stocked with everything needed for a short city break. Staff: They were always friendly and helpful and all spoke English perfectly. Food: Breakfast was a feast and included local fish delicacies, fruits, croissants, selection of drinks etc. (everything you'd expect from a continental breakfast). Throughout the day you could pop back to the hotel and fill up on tea/coffee which was free for guests, 24 hours. There was always free fruit at reception as well so you can help yourselves. This is a good idea because you'll find Norway is very expensive where a bottle of water from the shop could set you back £4!! The hotel also offered free waffles after 3pm daily, until whenever the batter mix ran out. This was a DIY job too as they left the mix and a waffle iron on in the breakfast/eating area. Guilt free for those who walk a lot during their stay :-)

    « Really Best »

Good location, near shops, 15-20 minutes walking from train station or around 100 kroner by taxi. The staffs so kind, very helpful explaining anything (specially the lady on the front desk). Every afternoon can get free waffles in the restauran

    « Lovely Hotel »

The Best Western Hordaheimen was a nice hotel for a weekend away. Check in/out was fast and easy. The staff seemed helpful, although we didn't need to utilize them too much. The breakfast buffet was very good and the food was constantly refreshed. At 3pm there was a waffle station but there wasn't anything to put on the waffle's except for some raspberry jam. There was also a 5pm fish soup, but we didn't get a chance to try that. The location was very good, close to everything but still nice and quiet. The room was nice and clean, and I loved the bed. The only detractor was that only half of our towels were refreshed after the first day. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and Bergen.

    « Average »

It's an oke hotel. Nothing fancy. Just a clean room and a good bed. Service is nice and they serve a decent breakfast. Price is on the high side for what you get. Being a BW it could do with a make over to improve the atmosphere.

    « OK »

This rather ordinary hotel was fine for a single night stopover in charming Bergen. On the plus side, the hotel is central and easy to find. The rooms are small but the bed is comfortable and the bathroom has a good shower. There is a kettle and coffee/tea in the room. The breakfasts are quite good with a choice of cereals, cold cuts and cheese, eggs, fruit etc. On the slightly less good side, the passages are long and soulless, the decor is old-fashioned twee and overly decorated in the public areas. The front of house staff were not terribly helpful. We ordered a taxi to the airport - with a rather vague indicative cost quoted. Friends at a neighbouring hotel did the same and had a taxi for four at 395 NOK. Ours was 515 for the same distance and same number of people.

« Cozy hotel with good breakfast »

Hotel room is comfortable with fast wi-fi. Located near main attractions. It is around 10 minutes walk from Bryggen and 5 minutes walk from fish market. We like the breakfast - it came with choices of smoked fish, bread/croissant, vege and fruits.

« Best Western Plus Hordaheimen, Bergen Norway »

Excellent location. Clean and nice rooms, great internet and fabulous breakfast. Staff most helpful and friendly. Easy walk to Old Town Bergen and sites, Fish Market, restaurants, Castle, Funicular, Information, and shopping.

« Great value and close to city attractions. »

Comfortable, clean, good breakfasts and walking distance to Fish markets, old harbour. Block itself isn't exciting but only 400 metres to the harbour and good views. The city tourist information is close as are the jetties for many fjord tours.

    « Nice, central hotel »

First impression is rather dark. Entering the hotel, you arrive in a quite dim restaurant and reception, but the hotel is OK. Not a luxury hotel, but a nice stop over with a "homely" atmosphere. Restaurant is OK but not great.

    « Very good value! »

Norway can be quite pricy, so I was a little bit more conscious on booking a not too expensive hotel. The Best Western was priced at around 120e/night, including breakfast. The room was good enough, the bathroom was clean, and the breakfast actually was above my expectation. Don't expect a 5-star hotel, but it is definitely good enough for a few nights. The location is great too, within a 2 minute walking distance, you're right at the Harbour or in the downtown bar area. Will stay there again!

    « Central & convenient »

Easy access to all amenities with everything in walking distance. Comfortable and warm rooms with individual thermostat. Breakfast goes fast so don't leave it too late! Free fruit at reception but only saw it once! Comfortable beds too.

    « Excellent staff »

We loved the location of this hotel and the value for money. It is clean, average size room, lobby is nicely decorated, and best thing is the staff members. They are very friendly, professional and thoughtful. We contacted them the very last minute to let them know that we will be arriving from Oslo around midnight and they promptly responded that they will hold the room. We forgot about asking for parking but they emailed us to inquire if we needed one since we are driving in late into from Bergen. Unfortunately our communication with them was very last minute, we already boarded the flight and did not see their email. Upon arrival, they informed us they went ahead to reserve a parking spot for us, however, we found a free parking in front of the hotel for the night and decided to park at the pay hotel parking spot the next day instead. Breakfast was wonderful, tasty and very fresh items served. We enjoyed it very much, the best we had during our one week stay in Norway. We checked-out in the morning to board the fjord cruise, and since we cannot be back on time to move our car, the staff kindly let us extend it for a couple hours. This was such a nice and kind gesture from them and we appreciate their thoughtfulness and professionalism. Keep up the excellent customer service, we appreciate it!

    « Recommended for Bergen! »

Hi, We stayed in this hotel for two nights, Oct. 20-22 2016. The locaiton in Bergen is ideal. The room was nice and clean. It had a corner with a sofa, a small table, a desk and chair, which all made it feel nice. There was no closet, although we never use one either so that's not a problem :) The bathroom was big enough, but basic. Just functional, but nothing attractive. All very clean though. The bed and pillows were great, we had a great night's sleep! Breakfast was certainly good. Enough choice of everthing, everything was refilled all the time. Staff were very friendly, the bill was correct, check-in and check-out were fast. One extra thing worth mentioning: my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I asked the hotel a few weeks in advance whether I could send them a personal card for my wife and whether they could put it on the bed with a red rose (romance :)). They were happy to cooperate. But the card never arrived at the hotel, something went wrong. They kept me updated all the time, mailing me to tell me that they still hadn't received the card. The day before our arrival they suggested mailing them a new letter so they could print it out instead of the card. I did, and they printed it on thick yellowish paper, rolled it around the rose, put it all on the bed, surrounded by candy :) My wife was very happy! And I really appreciated the effort they did, to make this work! Certainly recommended! If I ever go back to Bergen, it will be in this hotel.

    « Reasonable n friendly »

We stayed at this place for two nights and quite enjoyed because of its nice staff, location and facilities. Located near to city center in the second lane and well connected with rest of the areas provides 24 hrs services and support for any convincingly asked services. Lobby is small but neat with smiling staff.

« Small renovated hotel, simple resturant and drinks and snakcs you can buy in the receoption »

Very good located. In the middle of down town and just few minutes to walk to "Fiskebrygge" Very famous place. Lot of resturants in the area and short distance to Fløybanen which take you on few mutes to Ulriken top

    « I don't like to psy for others »

We booked this hotel because of its central location close to Bryggen and the city centre. It was reasonably priced and we booked in on a Friday for a weekend stay. The rooms are small and bathrooms even smaller. But the beds were all right. The breakfast area hadn't seating for everyone, so we had to wait. Food was about average. When checking out I was told I had a red wine bill on my room. I had not, so I was told 'these things happen'. Much to my surprise I see that an extra 158 NOK for goods has been added to the card I originally used to book the hotel. I have been given no explanation for this. This hotel is not to be recommended.

    « good location »

Generally was very nice. The room was very small. View from the window onto the roof. No light all the day. We had a problem with the radiator, leaking water. We thought, that the non stop rains. The breakfasts were very good, the bread fantastic. But for me the best is location. Very close to Bryggen, app 5 minutes. The service was OK. I recommend, but remember no place on the room.

    « Great location »

Just returning from a 4 night stay in Bergen . hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the Harbour area. Had a superior room and was a decent size. The hotel is a bit dated but is spotlessly clean. Great variety at the breakfast buffet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value for money and would return.

« Good location- Nice stay »

We have just returned from a weekend in Bergen and stayed at the Best Western. It is located very close to the centre of town and easy to walk to everything. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.

    « Holiday »

We came in by train from Sweden. One will need to get a taxi to get to the hotel. The cost was around $20.00 US. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and speaks English. The rooms are small but large enough to get around. It has the basics like coffee for two, TV and a phone without any instructions. The bath room has a roomy shower but the rest of the bath room is small. Watch out that your head does not hit the towel rack when you set down. I like to watch the English Language News especially when visiting different countries and its important to me. There seems to be a BBC channel but for some reason it doesn't work. The only channel in English is Russian TV which does nothing but give the Russian political slant on things (West is bad Russia is great). Why this hotel would only have that channel in English (Russian) one can only guess and I certainly didn't appreciate it. Why BBC didn't work I don't know.

    « No surprises »

The location is convenient to the city. 15 minute walk to the station and close to the Brygge tourist area. Breakfast is included and very good. The hotel is tired, but functional. Rooms are small but OK for a 2 night stay. You would choose up the scale a notch if you are looking for a hotel with any luxury.

« Reasonably priced and good location »

Norway is in general an expensive place to visit but this hotel is reasonable for Norway and includes a decent buffet breakfast. The rooms are spacious and clean and it is central to the old neighbourhood as well as to the shopping. Our room faced an office building so we had to be careful with closing the drapes in the evenings and mornings but it was just a small inconvenience. Also close to the harbour and where the Hurtigruten arrives and departs.

« Good location but tiny rooms »

About 15-20mins walk from the train station Close to the harbour front and quite centrally located to eateries and attractions Rooms are tiny and can be quite noisy if you open the windows. Thankfully, hotel has a little bit of internal ventilation Toilets slightly bigger than usual Scandinavian sizes

« Good position and value »

Comfortable and clean, helpful staff. Within a short walk, 5 minutes from the main area of the harbour, providing a good view, just around the corner, of the iconic harbour buildings. A good size but not massive hotel, so felt a little more personal. Lots of choice for breakfast, does evening meals which looked good, but we didn't sample, about the same price as other meals in the area. I would happily stay here again or recommend it.

    « Great Location! »

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The beds were comfy. It was a very short walk to downtown. There is limited parking, so pre-book if you are renting a car. The breakfast was good. The fresh sourdough bread was AMAZING!!! The staff was friendly and helpful. The shower is VERY small, as was the bathroom in general, but it got the job done. Overall, a good hotel for the price and a perfect location!

    « Bergen »

The Hotel is well located and everything in Bergen was easily accessible. The Hotel Staff were helpful and sorted out any queries we had.The room was clean and adequate for our stay. Small issue with shower flooding the bathroom when used as did not drain properly.

    « Excellent!! »

We stayed here for 2 nights. We were generally expecting a small room as is the norm in Scandic countries but this room was huge! Super clean. Easy walk to all the attractions and friendly front desk staff. The breakfast was OK. There is a grocery store around 5 mins walk. We bough some essentials there. There was no microwave. A microwave in the common area would be very welcome!

« Good distance to centre »

The hotel overall is okay and clean, if u don't like the hotel breakfast u could just walk out there are many choice u could have, like fish market and he street food, the distance to the centre is very convenient.

« Great hotel, perfect location, good food »

A great hotel in the quiet area of Bergen city centre. We had a great buffet dinner with the Norwegian traditional dish "raspeball" the evening we arrived. The breakfast is really good. Wifi is fast. Location is perfect. Our two year old got her own travelling baby bed in our room and everything was working out fine.

« Nice hotel in Bergen Norway »

The Best Western in Bergen Norway is a very good value for your dollar. If you plan on visiting the area and do not want to spend tons of money on your lodging, this hotel is perfect for you. It's not very far from the fjords and within easy walking distance from the Visitor's center. It's very comfortable and we found the staff very helpful. Parking costs $15.00 (US) per day but given the closeness of the area this is reasonable. The breakfast leaves something to be desired as it is not what some people are used to.

« Ok Hotel - close to centre of Bergen »

Located near to the center of Bergen Booked two rooms for stay with wife and Daughter which I request to be near to each other. Rooms allocated were on separate floors. Tried to re-charge me again for the stay. Rooms were very small - the single room I stayed in was something close to the size of a closet. The double bedroom which I told was an upgrade was fairly compact

« Overbooked, misled us and turned us to a cheaper hotel »

I was arriving from Oslo on a long day and was told at the counter that the hotel was overbooked. The counter staff told us that they have arranged for us to stay at the Scandic Bergen City instead which is a short walk away and the best Scandic in Bergen. So with our luggage we proceeded to Scandic Bergen City which was by no way a short walk away. On arriving, to our horror we were given a second floor room on the old wing of Scandic. Seriously, if the hotel is overbooked, at least give us an equivalent if not better hotel. Worse if you mislead the customer and come clean from it. Really spoilt my experience in Bergen.

    « bergen hotel »

the breakfast room was very crowded due to tour groups but the breakfast was good.was in easy walking distance to the city and sites and a fairly short walk to the airport bus(but the cobblestone streets make wheeling a suitcase quite difficult!0

« Very good location close to Bryggen »

The hotel is located very close to Bryggen, the citycenter and the old town. Room 600 was nice and large with sofa and chairs. When the window was opened there was a view over the rooftops. The three-course dinner was average, but the fresh cod was good. The breakfast buffet was good but with a small selection. The was seven power outlets in the room, but only two next to one of the beds. Lots of pokestops with lures and pokemons - two could be reached from the room. Bergen is very charming even in rainy weather - and worth a visit.

« Was denied a room the first night »

I got there exhausted (I had made my reservation 5 months previously through TripAdvisor) and they told me that there was no room for me the first night; I had to go to a different hotel they provided and then I could come back for the next 2 nights. They didn't offer to help me move, they didn't offer to give me my money back and they sent me to a hotel that was cheaper than the Best Western. Disgusting

« Nice hotel, well located... »

We booked for 2 nights this hotel. Upon arrival, our check-in went fluently and we were lucky to get a car park place (2 available) just near the hotel. They charge you a day fee, however less expensive than a carpark place in town. I don't know if you can reserve place, but we suggest you ask when booking. The rooms are Ok and our bathroom was neath and a nice shower. The breakfast buffet contains whatever you can think of and is open till 10 am. The roadworks are done and nekghbourhood is calm and only 3 min walk from the famous Fishmarket and 5 min from Bryggen area ! And 5 min from nice shopping streets and malls.

    « A one night stopover »

We booked into this hotel on our way back from a longer holiday in Norway. The staff were extremely helpful in respect of checking us in, helping with our onward travel plans, and generally pointing us in the right direction while in Bergen. We were on the fifth/sixth floor (room 604), which while in the eves of the roof, still provided adequate space, and the bed was extremely comfortable, probably the best night's sleep of our entire holiday.

« You have better hotel to choose »

This hotel is in a poor stage and needs to be revamped. Select a room which offer a view and avoid the first floor. The breakfast is of very poor quality. You have no covered parking and need to park your car in a parking not secured. If you travel with your motorbike, this is annoying. Also the front road was in construction, so the access was not the best. You have better hôtels to choose with a view to the port and the city and in a better shape too.

« Nice hotel by the shore »

Good value for money, location is nice, staff are friendly. Breakfast is nice, large variety. Took a while to check-in, but there are lot s to see in the city easily accesible that keeps you busy. Rooms are nice as well.

    « Bergen Hotel recommended »

We stayed at this hotel for a night after leaving our cruise ship and before taking " Norway in a Nutshell" trip to Oslo. Hotel had a very comfortable and fairly spacious room, helpful staff and a great breakfast. Easy to walk around town and to the train station (@20 min.). Booked thru Expedia with a good price.

    « Small but clean »

The BW Hordaheimen is on the Fish market side of the harbour about three blocks in. That is a good location to the harbor, but it is kind of on the edge of the action because there is nothing interesting much beyond the hotel from the fish market. The room was clean and bright, but small (typical for hotels in old buildings). The bathroom is extremely small and might be a problem for larger people. There was annoying temperature fluctuation in the shower during peak water use times. Included breakfast buffet was average to above average. Next time, I might stay closer to the city centre. It would be an extra 10 minute walk to Byrggen and the Fish Market, but there would be more restaurants and shopping in every direction around the hotel.

« Great hotel in great location »

Stayed here for a long weekend with family at the start of may. The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to tourist information and the fish market, but down a quiet side street. The airport bus stops at the fish market and is easily walkable even with cases. The hotel was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly.

    « Good location »

Good location and close to the Fish Market. When we got off the Airportbus I expected to see the hotel, but the road swings around a little so you have to walk the first block then when the road swings left slightly, you can see the sign. Convenient for lots of things. Great breakfast.

    « Nice Spacious Room »

The Best Western Plus is located in central Bergen. We stayed one night only in a nicely decorated, very spacious room with modern furniture including even a sofa and armchair The bathroom as well was big, neat, clean and modern. I wish I could have enjoyed that room a little longer. Breakfast was just ok. They keep service those fried eggs with bacon stuck to them (like in the other Best Western we stayed in, in Oslo) but you can ask for just fried eggs on its own. Parking was possible for free just next door but you need to ask at the reception about it as you need to fill in a form.

    « Apalling customer service »

Pleasant basic hotel, good location, clean rooms, good breakfast... HOWEVER first impressions are everything and we had a bad experience. We arrived early in Bergen at about 10:00 am so went to the hotel, dropped off our bags and went out for the day. When we returned at 3pm to check in we were told that the hotel was overbooked and we were being moved to another hotel a couple of kms out of town. I pointed out that this was not acceptable as 1. We had made and paid for the hotel in December 2015 some 6 months previously, 2. We had chosen this hotel as it was in the city centre with everything accessible by foot and 3. there had been no mention of overbooking when we arrived at 10:00 am. The reception staff said they were very sorry but there was nothing they could do. I then asked to use their phone to call out tour operators 24 hour help desk in the UK to sort things out. At that point we were asked to take a seat and miraculously a room became available. Anyone in the hospitality sector should know you don't get a second chance at customer service. If you get a bad meal in a restaurant you might go back again, if you get bad service you will not go back again. We will not be making any further bookings with Best Western worldwide and will be advising friends and family to do likewise. The hotel receptionists were very pleasant and just the lackies in the firing line for a bad organisation's bad management.

« Very good balance of value for money »

It is slightly out of the main Briggen area but in a quiet street at a convenient couple of streets from the centre, close to the stops of the buses coming to the airport and the rent-a-car agencies. Briggen, the Tourism Office and the other main attractions are close enough. The guys at the deskfront are very pleased to help you with useful informations about buses and trams. The Bergen Card can be very convenient for moving around and visiting. We didn't had a car by then, so we didn't have to park but the are plenty of parkings around.

« Great location, nice room, helpful staff »

The hotel is wonderfully located, a short walk from the fish pier and harbor area, small shops on the waterfront, as well as parks and museums. It is about a 20 minute walk to the central bus station--over many cobble stone streets (if you are bringing a suitcase you may prefer a taxi). The room was large (we were 2 people), clean, and nicely laid out with a spacious, modern bathroom with shower. An elevator/lift is available off the lobby area. Breakfast at the hotel was very nice and included many options: eggs, sausage, cheeses, fish, vegetables and fruit, juices, coffee and several cereals, yoghurts and breads. Staff were especially pleasant, helpful and friendly, and provided great suggestions, directions to local spots, and assisted us with taxis and other logistics--thank you!

« Within walking distance from Norled ferry dock »

Good location to Norled ferry dock - 10 minute walk but a bit of repair work along footpath so a bit difficult to wheel luggage. Hopefully repairs finished soon. Good breakfast with fresh orange juice. Rooms quite warm but fans available.

    « A good hotel in Bergen »

The hotel is strategically located near the haven. The room I was in (412) was sufficiently large, very clean and well equipped. Personnel have been corteous and professional. The only minus, is that the restaurant closes quite early (7 PM) so customers arriving late in the evening may have to go out for dinner.

    « Great breakfast »

Large room for a single in Norway. Located in city central and about a 15 minute walk (pulling my suitcase) from the central station. Getting to and from the hotel using public transport is complicated and to me not worth the wait. Bergen is a relatively small city and most sights are about a 3-15 minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast is exceptional for Norway, but the room price is appropriate cover the cost of the included breakfast.

« Nice room, nice location, noisy street »

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was spacious and had a very nice bathroom. Service was very nice, so was the breakfast. The breakfast room needs some updating. Location is only 5 minute walk from Bergen centre. I have nothing bad to say about the hotel but unfortunately the hotel is situated in an area where people like to whoohoo/sing/yell at night ..

« Stay here for the location, not for the accommodation. »

Cheched in and was shown to the smallest hotel room I think I have ever see. No room to open up two suitcases. Was abke to uograde to a superior room for quite a bit more money. Much more space but the little things count, no teabags, lots of coffee sachets but only one sugar sachet, the safe locked shut and no luck getting someone to deal with it, etc. Staff were all warm and friendly and the breakfast is excellent but.........

« Good hotel in Bergen »

We stayed in this hotel in May 2016 and were quite satisfied with it. In particular, we ran into a hotel strike that caused our Tromso hotel to close, and made it hard to tell if our Oslo hotel remains open (that you don't hear anything from the hotel may indicate the hotel already closed, or is open as usual). We were fortunate to rebook a hotel on our own but at that time it was chaotic. The manager of Hordaheimen helped us to confirm that the Oslo hotel remains open (it then closed two days after we checked in) and our Tromso on line book is good (and that hotel will stay open). We are very appreciative of his doing so. On the hotel: The hotel is located on essentially a quite side road near the tourist area. On the hotel photo it appeared to be on a large street and was easily spotted. When we were dropped off by the Airport bus it took us a lot of problem fining it. So make sure you have very detailed map to locate the hotel. The hotel provided good service (in particular good breakfast) in a hotel strike that did reduce their staff, so we are very pleased.

« Budget hotel with great location »

Budget hotel but it is located at 2 minutes walk from the Fish Market and close to all the main attractions. We took the airport bus which takes around 45 mins and costs 115 Nkr if bought on the bus. Room size was ok, WiFi was free with decent speed. The views from the room are not great, we were overlooking a wall but why would you waste time looking out of the hotel window if you can walk around beautiful Bergen. Breakfast was included in our price and was ok.

« Great Location, Hard Working and Pleasant Staff. Delicious Breakfasts. »

Very tired looking staff kept the hotel open throughout the long strike and did so with a smile and no reduction in efficiency. The rooms were good in every way - my wife kept on mentioning the huge panoramic photograph behind our bed with the lighting effect! Very comfy seating for a change - none of the hard plastic chairs that you so often encounter. Breakfast was a gastronomic delight with a great variety and much thought given to the room layout. The breakfast hours were generous and you had no need to rush, although the restaurant isn't big and your timing is crucial if you want a seat immediately. Good coffee is available 24/7. We noticed that the foyer and restaurant decoration style was highlighted in the Norway Folk Museum and the lampshades in the restaurant made it feel like a forest! We would be happy to come back again once the building works are completed as Bergen and its hinterland have so much to offer. A nice professional touch that the management make an effort to respond to the reviews.

    « Friendly Staff »

We stayed 2 nights during the middle of a hotel workers strike and still had good service from the staff on duty. Due to the strike, we did not have daily maid service to replace used towels or empty waste baskets, but we were forewarned of this and made due. The two twin bed room was adequate for our needs and the location of the hotel near the water and fish market were ideal. This hotel has been renovated and has all the modern amenities in the rooms. The only thing that I would suggest to the owners of the hotel is to add some type of water barrier under the shower doors to stop the shower water from seeping out into the bathroom. The beds were comfortable, but the rooms were definitely not sound proofed, as you can hear the people walking in the rooms above you. I would have liked a small dresser to store clothes in, instead of just keeping the suite case on the floor as storage. The staff recommended an Italian restaurant close by and it was better than expected. The included free morning breakfast was good and had choices for all nationalities. We had the pleasure of visiting Bergen during the National Holiday and it was a real treat.

    « Service is everything »

This hotel was having the same difficulty as many hotels in Norway at the time we were there..a labor strike. Services were reduced (such as daily room cleaning, etc) which really wasn't a hardship but required extra effort by the staff still working. When I discovered that we needed to add an extra day in Bergen because of an error in booking a flight out, the woman at the front desk found us another hotel close by and arranged to adjust our room reservation at the next location. All this was done with a smile on her face and an upbeat attitude. I lost the paper with her name on here is a rough approximation..Oahla. The hotel is located in an area with much construction going on. If you want to sleep in, bring earplugs. We would definitely stay there again.

« Nice people. Basic room. »

First things first, the room was clean and the bed supper comfy. Also, the breakfast was phenomenal. We happened to be here on the constitution/national day so the breakfast was extra special. There is a strike in its 4th week happening here at the moment for hotels, so they are struggling with keeping up on all the work. This being said, the room was clean. However, they won't make up your room if you stay multiple nights, and they've made checkout an hour early without notifying people. Breakfast is delayed a bit too. They seem to be coping with the short staffed issue pretty well. Room was very hot. I pulled a fan out of the closet and opened the window and was able to adjust the temperature this way.

    « Good choice »

It is well located with a short walking distance to central railway station and to main attractions, such as Bryggen and Fløyen, to bars and restaurants. The hotel is a classic best western 3-star, with small but clean rooms. Delicious breakfast with a lot of choices! Good value for money, taking into consideration the high prices in Norway. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

« Good hotel close to city center »

Hotel with very good location in center of Bergen, delicious and rich breakfast buffet with wide variety of fishes. Welcome gift for Best Western Rewards members, but no room upgrade. Overall very good hotel.

    « Construction still around »

Construction still going on in the area, but not noisy. Nice location with a decent breakfast get there early, or you may find it picked over by 9:30 to 10. Very close to the harbor and a short walk to Bryggen and other points of interest. I was on back side of hotel so maybe that's why I didn't hear the construction noise.

« Very good and good value »

I spent 3 nights here in a small double room for single occupancy. The shower room was very cramped but adequate for one person. The staff in general were excellent and the breakfast was superb - very important when eating out is so very expensive. It's good to be able to have a satisfying breakfast and save money on other meals. The only real criticism was the housekeeping which was rather odd. While the bed was made each day, that was about it - cups used were removed but not replaced, likewise tea and coffee. One towel was left for replacement - the dirty one was removed but no clean one was substituted. Bins were not always emptied either. On the 3rd evening, I ended up with no cups and no tea bags. This was a pity as the rest of the staff were very good. Drinks could be bought from reception in the evenings and drunk in the dining room. While not a proper bar, this arrangement was adequate. The wifi was great, some of the best I've had in a hotel - available in bedrooms as well as general areas. Location-wise, a short walk brought you to the Fish Market area. Roadworks outside were a bit of a nuisance but not the fault of the hotel. All in all, a good place to stay and very handy for the sights and attractions.

« Great location and super breakfast »

Although the hotel does not have good views, it offers attractive rates in a superb location, just a few minutes walk from the historic centre (as well as lovely residential streets behind) and the airport bus stop. The breakfast is excellent (includes new Swedish designed items) and the rooms are comfortable and have an attractive design. In addition soap & shower products are higher quality & more eco-friendly than most, & are dispensed using a low-packaging dispenser. Overall, very good. Staff were efficient, helpful and professional; possibly a slightly more enthusiastic welcome would be the only even better if, but that is a minor point.

« Ideally situated hotel, close from the fish market and the city center »

Ideally situated hotel near the harbour and the city center. Comfortable accomodation, good breakfast, comfy bedding... and reasonable price for Norway. A nice place for staying a few days in the heart of Bergen.

    « Convenient & Economical »

We booked this hotel because it was both close to the centre and close to the port, as we were starting a cruise the next day. The airbus (coach) dropped us right in the centre of town and the hotel was just a 5 minute walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and fairly basic but clean. We only needed one night so this was fine. If I was staying longer, it might be a problem. Our rate included breakfast which was very good. A mix of hot and cold and plenty of choice. Norway is hugely expensive!, so the inclusion of breakfast is important. After check out the next morning, we were able to leave our bags at the hotel which was also very helpful.

    « Weekend in Bergen »

Spent a three day weekend at the Hordaheimen while in Bergen as a tourist. The location of the hotel makes a perfect base, but while it is no fault of the hotel, be prepared for some noise and dust from construction work and road works immediately outside. The lobby has a lovely soothing atmosphere, and my room, modestly sized, still had everything required. If back in Bergen, I would stay there again.

    « Newly Renovated? & Great Stay »

The stay was from using our Avios miles. The stay for one night only was great in this clean, tidy hotel which looks like the interior has been completely newly renovated and very tastefully as well. Everything felt new even the public PC in the lobby. The room was modern and quiet and the breakfast was more than adequate. Overall very good value.

« Simple and comfortable. Good enough for a short stay »

More than 2 nights the tinny room would made me crazy, but it is enough for sleep snd breakfast if you are not too demanding. Rooms are small, simple and clean. Breakfast simple and clean. Staff us simple and clean. Overall evaluation? You know - simple and clean...

« Great hotel in a Great Location »

This was a wonderful 4-star stay in a 3-star hotel. As a solo traveler, I was situated in their single room which was tucked away in the corner of the hotel overlooking a Christmas lighted street. It was like a fairy room, and I had absolutely no issue with the small size. Everything was perfect for what I needed and it was always absolutely clean. Great location close to the fish market and within walking distance to absolutely everything. Highly recommended!

    « 2 night stay »

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights because it was the most affordable hotel I could get in Bergen which had a decent amount of positive/neutral reviews. I had some important things to do and I needed to be very well rested, so I went with it putting aside some of the negative reviews I read and hoped for the best. I took the bus from the airport and stopped at Torget, which is the closest bus stop to the hotel. It was a 5 minute walk from there and I got to the hotel by 1 am. I did use google maps to find it, as I had never been to Bergen before. I eventually got to a mini fork in the road where I got a bit confused because of the construction, but once I looked to my right, the hotel sign was clear and I just walked right up to it. There was a lot of construction around the hotel and in front of it. It is not in the best area. However, it is a very short walk from the harbour and that is great. Once I stepped into the hotel, the guy at the reception greeted me coldly. I tried to make some conversation with him but he had this attitude like he was completely bored of his job. I asked some questions and I was put off by some of his answers. I just gave up on any conversation and waited for my room key. Once I finally got it, I took the elevator and tried to find my room. The signs were incredibly confusing and I went up and down the stairs and around the hallways until I finally deciphered them and reached my room. To my surprise, my room was only a few centimetres away from the next one. It was as if they were one room. It certainly felt like it. The room was incredibly small, and I have had my share of small rooms. The walls were paper thin and I could hear every single thing my neighbour was doing as if he were in the room with me or even inside my head. Using the bathroom was awkward, as everything could be heard. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out which switch (out of the many switches) was the one to turn on the light for the bathroom. It was not in an easy-to-figure-out place and everything was labelled in Norwegian. I do understand Norwegian to a certain extent, but at that point I really could not get my brain working and I just wanted to switch on the light. It eventually became clear that it was in a standard place but it just takes a while for the light to come on. Once I got to bed, I was surprised at how comfortable it was. There were 4 pillows and each one was different. It was perfect because I could choose which one was best. About 10 minutes in, I started hearing all the noise from the street. My room overlooked it, even though I specifically asked for a quiet room. I could hear all the drunk people walking down the street and talking loudly through the closed window. This was a Friday/Saturday. I needed to wake up at 6 am, so this was quite an unpleasant experience. I ended up only sleeping for an hour. At 7 am, I headed to town and did whatever I needed to do. It became clear to me just how easy it was to find this hotel once you figure out how to get around town. It is in a good location, if you can ignore the construction around it. By 4 pm, I was back in my room and I spent the rest of the day and night there. I could still hear everything from my neighbour and the sounds coming from the street. That night, I slept for 2 hours. In the morning, I went to check-out and it was quick and easy. The walk to the train station with my luggage took about 10 minutes. My stay included breakfast but I could not have it because it was served from 8-11 am and on both days I left the hotel earlier than that. Overall, I'd say only stay at this hotel for a few days if you have is one of the cheapest hotels in Bergen to get a "decent" stay. I do not think I would repeat this experience, having stayed at much better hotels for half the price (not in Bergen, though).

    « Weekend stay »

Quick service at the reception, the room was not too big, but it was completely sufficient, there was even a sofa which was very convenient. Comfortable bed, small but very clean bathroom. The breakfast was great, a lot of choice and it was ready for us even very early on Sunday morning when we had to leave to catch our flight. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the fish market, the port and the city center.

« Nice hotel, great price »

A good price, compared to other hotels in the same category, had me to choose this place. Small, but nice rooms, and a good breakfast. Centrally located. This is not the place to go on a romantic hotel weekend, but it is perfect if you need a place to sleep.

« Good night's sleep close to city centre »

By North American standards, my room was minuscule, made even more so by the placement of an upholstered chair that took up what little available space there was. However, by European standards, the room was sufficiently large. You can book larger rooms, but I took what I could get from the online reservation system. Every single one of the front desk staff was both excellent and informative. There was plenty of variety for breakfast, and the location of the hotel is close to the main shopping area and harbour.

« Nice hotel in city center »

Nice hotel within easy walking distance to fish market, Bryggen, funicular, shops, and restaurants. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Good breakfast included with our stay. Very quiet in our room.

« The best sleeping, dining deal in Bergen »

Forget the Bergen restaurants, book at this clean, modern and conveniently located hotel, and enjoy the best breakfast in Norway. It is excellent and generous and will last you till dinner. Bathroom a bit tight, but worked for us. Loved being there, was sad to leave.

    « Great, Reasonable Hotel »

We found the hotel a great place to stay in the downtown area. It was within easy walking distance of the harbor, fish market and the train station. Our room was very clean and modern. We appreciated the two comfortable chairs in the room. It was convienent to have a computer & printer available to use. The front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the great breakfast each morning.

« Good, straightforward hotel - some flaws »

The hotel is conveniently located close the centre of Bergen, one street back from the waterfront. As other reviews have said, the breakfast buffet was good, although by the fifth morning, starting to get a bit monotonous. That won't be a problem if you're not staying more than a few nights. The room was cleaned every day, but like another review said, the towels weren't changed, even when left on the floor. The problems were small but annoying: - The room was a good size, but had no shelves or drawers for clothes, so unpacking was difficult. - The shower was just a stream of water - no shower, but there was always hot water - The Wifi was congested at peak times (evenings primarily) making even web browsing painfully slow. - The building site opposite started work at 7am, but once the work is complete, that won't be a problem.

    « No hot water, no wi-fi »

I stayed here for two nights with my wife in September 2015. The first morning we were there, there was no hot water. We had arrived late the night before and had been looking forward to a shower. We didn't get hot water till midday, so our first day in Bergen was half gone. The wi-fi was having problems the first day, it kept dropping out. Then it stopped working entirely. Nobody could tell me when it would be fixed. I needed Internet to book some bus trips, so the only option was to use the computer at the reception desk. This is a small space and I literally fell over at one point while trying to plug something in. I also got a sore back from bending over because the computer was at an awkward height. It turned out that I needed to install an app on my phone to get the best ticket price, which requires wi-fi. It wasn't until my last morning when I started getting irate at the reception person that she came up with the option of calling the hotel next door and asking them to let me use their wi-fi. Why wasn't this the first option provided? This was literally the fourth reception person I had asked about the wi-fi (I had asked on multiple shifts); why didn't the first, second, or third person suggest going next door? Why did I have to get angry before it was suggested? Not happy at all. I didn't get the service I paid for. Nobody offered a discount of any kind for not providing the service I paid for. Would never stay there again. The hotel is one street behind the harbour, so the views are all just buildings across the road.

« Central location with comfortable rooms. »

Spent three nights here in early September. Rooms are well laid out with comfortable beds. Breakfast was good as well. Good location and value for a Bergen Hotel. Located close to ferry dock, fish market and old Bryggen waterfront.
