    « A typical Norwegian hotel »

As always, this was a late booking for us (less than 24 hours before travel) so we do take pot luck. First a word about Bergen. This is a delightful city with great views over the sea to one side, and tree covered hills on the other. The people are friendly and it is wonderful just wondering around. See my other reviews, but overall great for the soul. I have been in Norway 4 or 5 times now, and the hotels are always similar. The rooms are cozy, with strange soft beds, and unusual duvet covers (basically you get 2 single duvets rather than a double). Space was at a premium, but with the exception of a room safe, we had everything we needed for a week long stay. The hotel is about 25 minutes on foot outside of the centre, and is really in a residential area. With the exception of a local supermarket, there are not many facilities to hand. We enjoyed our walks each day, although there is a bus stop close at hand. On the plus side, it was very quiet. Breakfast was good each day, with standard Nordic fare, and enough space. Other quests were a mix of holiday makers and workers from other parts of Norway. Overall, a good choice of hotel for a few laid back days in Bergen. If you are staying for a short period, you might prefer one closer to town.

« OK, for afew day. »

I have stayed in afew Best Western's and by far, this was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. There was no storage and the smallest twin beds I have ever seen, it was a good job my friend and i get on well with each other, as it was like we were sharing a small double bed. It was cleaned everyday, bathroom was nice with underfloor heating, but this room would not be ideal if you were staying for a longer trip. Had a lovely view of the car park and flats opposite! Breakfast was fab though and very helpful and friendly staff. Also, be aware that this hotel is at least a mile or more from Bergen centre, you can walk it in about 45 mins, or catch a bus, which stops just up the road, but this will cost you a 50 kroner each way, which is about fiver each time!!

    « How small??? »

This hotel is clean and does a great breakfast. It is about a mile or so outside the town so expect to spend £5 per person per way every time you need to catch the bus to go to town. It sure adds up! The rooms really are tiny. We had a twin room but two single beds were pushed together and up against the wall. No wardrobe or drawers just a desk. Bathroom was nice with underfloor heating. The beds were comfortable so all in all it wasn't a bad experience. Little things like tea facilities in room let it down. I had to get tea bags and milk from reception each evening as room was not re stocked.

« Nice Stay for the Budget »

Nice Stay for the budget. Superior Rooms are much more bigger and comfortable. They can be upgraded at a nominal charge. Hotel Staff is really polite and Helpful. Breakfast is very good with quite a lot of options.

« Very small room looking into the neighboring wall. »

This was not a good experience. Yes, it was clean and the bed was comfortable, if a bit narrow. The location is a bit out of the city center, but there are frequent bus services and it is about a half hours walk to reach central Bergen. The hotel itself is a block of flats narrowly fit in between other blocks of flats with no view to the sea since this is blocked by other buildings. Next door, there is a supermarket. Our room was so small there was hardly space to move around the bed, nowhere to sit except a wooden chair facing a niche with a small writing table fit into the wall. The room looked like an office with a bed in it, but the Wifi was so slow it was impossible to work there. The water cooker was a nice touch, but the electrical cord was too short to reach from the table to the socket by the floor, so to enjoy a hot drink you had to place the cooker on the floor. A detail? Yes, but a detail that tells you the hotel does not care or does not understand how to make guests comfortable. To pay 2790 NOK for two nights did not feel like good value. We spent as little time as possible there and will never go back.

    « Comfortable, small rooms. »

We booked this is a bit of hurry and it worked well. The rooms are comfortable, if a bit small. The double beds are quite small. It's a little bit out of the city, but the nearby buses are quite good making for easy access.

    « Needed a place in a pinch »

We needed a place to stay on last minute notice and this provided what we needed. The rooms are small but very clean, great breakfast, and a bit of a walk to the center of town. However, we could not beat the rate. Recommend for a short stay or if you are looking for a place at a reasonable cost.

Roomare very very small and not proper too far from the bus stand no sign window is too far to reach bed is not comfort .The hotel is on old property Hotel has very few staff who take care front desk and resturant

    « Average all round »

The hotel itself is about a 35min walk from the main part of town which didn't worry us. The staff were very friendly and helped when needed. The breakfast served was average but considering that it fell to the receptionist to look after the food and reception at the same time it could be forgiven. Disappointingly we were situated right above the reception area only one floor up. With no aircon we had the window opened, which allowed all the smoke into our room. This was sorted the next night with a tiny fan borrowed from reception. The double bed was tiny and the walls seem paper thin.

« Good Breakfast and Staff but with tricky location and limited flush toilet and shower space »

I stayed in this hotel several night in early June. The breakfast was very good and I loved it. A lot of choices and delicious. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. The room was clean though very small. But I have to say that the location was tricky. It was not in the city center. It will take you at least 25 minutes to walk from the City Visitor Center to the hotel. Furthermore, if you want to take a bus, a lot of bus drivers didn't know the location of this hotel. If you first came to Bergen and relied on the bus driver to tell you which bus station you should stop to get to the hotel, you would be wrong. I had a unpleasant experience on this. And the bus ticket was also tricky. You need to pay more if you buy on the bus and they open accepted cash, not credit card. Also be careful of the bus ticket you buy in the bus terminal. One of the several bus ticket I bought didn't work. One side of the flush toilet in my bathroom was stick to the side of the sink. That is to say, there was no space between the flush toilet and the sink. You could not really sit right on the flush toilet. You had to use the left side while this side also has limited space. I am slim and still could not really sit right on the flush toilet. I don't know how the others handle that. The shower space was super super narrow. I barely fitted in the shower space.

« Good hotel close to city center »

On a business trip here I Bergen and absolutely satisfied with hotel. I have got a massive and brand new room with huge Windows. Very clean and in quiet location, close to a buss stop Ludebryggen and it is only 5 min by bus to the center or 15 min walk.

    « A place to sleep »

Pros: 1. Price 2. convient location 3. Very nice employees Cons: 1. No air condition 2. No fans unless you request it 3. No elevator (lots of steps) 4. Small rooms Even though the place was not some 5 star hotel, its location and the nice service from the front desk made up for the cons. If you are looking for luxury this is not where you should go. But if you want somewhere to sleep while being in walking distance of everything for a pretty good price this is where you should go.

    « Simple and quiet »

This hotel is simple, quiet and the surrounding is really like a picture with beautiful scenery. Quite distance to walk to nearby bus station especially with luggage. Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. What is an amazing is this hotel have 45 rooms but they only have 5 staffs running the hotel.

BW's Sandviken Brygge Hotel is located about 10 mins out of the centre of town (NK50 bus fare) and is absolutely fine for a short visit. Beware It is not the most accessible of places and would definitely be a problem if had you have heavy or bulky luggage. Only stayed 1 night as I had a business meeting 5 mins walk away. Could not fault the room (which is indeed small), the helpful staff (who helped me check-in for my return flight and printed out my boarding card) and the reasonable breakfast. No reason not to recommend.

    « Not impressed..... »

Good location in proximity to Bergen and moderate price. Nice and welcoming staff. Breakfast was quite good, good selection of healthy and regular options, even with salmon and with do-it-yourself waffles ! Our room was tiny, bed was narrow (140 cm), poor maintenance and room standard in general. Tiles coming off in the bathroom. Room felt very cheap, also in relation to the price we paid.

    « Budget hotel »

If you are traveling on a budget, this is a great option for you. The price is fair for what is offered. Hotel is a 25 minute walk from the center. It is not far if you like walking. There is also a bus stop - 2 minute walk from the hotel. There is a bus every 10 minutes to the pier (Brygge). The bus ride takes about 5 minutes. The hotel rooms are small but very clean. Breakfast is good. The staff is very helpful and kind. Free wifi in the rooms, works quite well.

    « Its OK »

We were looking for a cheap and comfortable stay in Bergen and this hotel came up as the cheapest. It had a bed, decent bathroom and breakfast. All we needed for our 3 night stay in Bergen. it could have been closer to the city centre, but the pubic transportation system takes you where you want to go easily. By foot it is an easy 40+- min walk from the trainstation. The staff was helpful and the breakfast selection was good. Nothing to complain about really, given the price we got. Only one thing to mention is that they say they have a bar, but when we asked, there were no serving of any alcohol.

« Decent for one night »

This hotel is in the midst of a residential area so its far from the hustle and bustle of the city centre which is accessible by buses from bus stops that are walkable distances from the hotel. The room is very basic and probably the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in. I think it is over priced too when I look at the retail rate. Our room had no view just like a previous comment - it was facing the corridor of a residential block. We were there for just one night so it was alright i guess. The breakfast is basic. But the staff were very polite and quite helpful, and next to the hotel there is the ICA supermarket. Found the heated floor in the bathroom super cool. Also it had all the essential toiletries. If you do not have a vehicle while reaching the hotel and checking out with luggages can be a task because the hotel is located slightly uphill. If you are looking at being closer to the city centre then this is not for you. Overall it was OK. Nothing to complain.

    « Nothing special »

It is an average hotel. I don't see a strong reason to return. The room is very basic and has no view at all (I stayed in a room facing the corridor of a residential block). The wifi is not very strong and I find browsing speed to be slow. The breakfast is basic and not particularly appetizing. But the staff is polite, and next to the hotel there is the ICA supermarket. Although the hotel is away from the city centre, it is easily accessible by buses. It takes less than 10 minutes to commute between Bryggen (the wharf)/Torget (Fish Market) and the hotel.

    « Liars »

I had a booking through my travel Agent, and he assure me that the hotel was in the city center! once i could had acces to internet, i founded how far it is! My agent tried to cancel , and they refuse...I think is the only way to have someone in this Hotel! Overpriced, very bad located...
