"Noisy and bad sleep quality"
PhilMalone, 29 Novembre 2023

The rooms are small with a very soft bed. But noise easily travels from room to room because of the 'paper thin' walls. We had noisy neighbouring room with loud TV and conversation we could hear until very late hours. None of the power points worked in the room, so we couldn't charge phones. Not recommended.

"GREAT place to stay in Bergamo!!"
Simon F, 05 Novembre 2023

I stayed once before two years ago and I was happy to return. We stayed only one night on the way north and the location is excellent, very near to the airport and to the railway station and easily found from the motorway too. The car park is very near to the hotel and works well, recetion gives you a code to gain access. Reception was warm and friendly the room was excellent and the breakfast too was great!! SUPER hotel and staff too, thanks!!

"Great spot for a short stay"
Kncl, 05 Octobre 2023

Very welcoming reception, immaculately clean, good breakfast included. The hotel is also extremely well situated between the trai station, the main part of the city, and the Citta Alta. Would stay here again for sure as it was great value for money.

"Very good choice"
Florin A, 13 Avril 2023

Perfect location for exploring Bergamo and Milan, as it is only about 5 mins walk from the train station and about 30 mins up to the old town. The room was very comfortable, good size, bed and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast was fine.

"A good option in Bergamo"
Barney1984, 27 Février 2023

Good hotel - 7/8 mins walk from the station and the same to the funicular to the old down. Equally easy to get the bus from right outside the hotel to the old town/airport. Rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced. Beds were comfortable and good shower facilities. A good option in Bergamo.

"Warm & Friendly"
Dadvader48, 07 Décembre 2022

We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good and the room clean. The room was a little small but we were happy as it was sufficient for all our needs. We booked the car park with the hotel and they arranged it just a few doors down in a secure garage, perfect. Definitely would stay again.

"Great location and worth the 4 star status"
HKPiper, 01 Octobre 2022

You exit the Bergamo railway station and head straight down the main road opposite it. About 8 minutes walk (with a wheeled suitcase and small daypack) is the Best Western Cappello D'Oro. It's that easy to get to. Likewise if coming from or going to the Bergamo Airport, the bus stop for the No. 1 airport bus is directly the opposite the hotel (either side of the same road whether coming or going). Likewise the same bus will take you to the enormous and superb Orio Center shopping mall which is just an 8 minute walk from the airport. The bus stop is just 20 metres from the hotel entrance. If you want to go and see the old town taking the funincular then start walking along the main road in the other direction and after about 12 minutes you'll come to it. There are a lot of bars and restaurants all around the hotel including an excellent Irish pub called The Ritual about 150 metres away round a corner. So it is in a superb location. Check-in and out were simple and quick. No issues whatsoever. The staff told me where the room was, the lifts were, when breakfast was served, the gym was located and where there was a terrace to sit outside (on the 1st floor). The room I had was a maybe a queen or king sized bed. The room was clean, the furniture fine, the wifi was reliable and reasonably fast, the air-conditioning worked fine, the usual toiletries were supplied and there was a mini bar as well as a kettle with tea/instant coffee. As someone who gets up earlier in the morning, the fact that breakfast commenced at 0630 and went on until 1000 was a huge bonus. Many hotels in Italy will not open breakfast until 0730 or even 0800, which I hate. A matter of choice, but for me it was very welcome. Great selection of food on offer, in fact one of the 'continental breakfasts' I have come across during my stays in about 20+ Italian 3/4 star hotels. Eggs/bacon/sausages as well as cereals, yoghurts, fruit juice, croissants, various breads and pastries/cakes, fresh fruit, cold meats, cheeses, two coffee machines and probably more. It was tasty and there was a great variety, more so than most places. If I returned to Bergamo, I wouldn't bother looking for anywhere to else to stay; I would simply book a room here without any hesitation. A typical chain type hotel, but it was good value for money and the staff were polite, it was clean, well located and I felt secure.

"Bland and outdated"
TheHappyCamper2013, 13 Septembre 2022

The hotel is centrally located, but not easily accessible by car without the prior knowledge to use the bus lane as parking to unload. The staff mostly was very helpful and service minded. In general the hotel is outdated and reception, hall and the one elevator are lacking the luster to be considered a 4-star hotel. Hotel bar and restaurant prompt going outdoors. Breakfast itself was good. The room was very small, far too warm and where lacking real air conditioning could not be made comfortable. The room we booked via Booking looks like being furnished in the late 60-ies and is lacking an espresso machine. The bathroom, with plastic cups to try to drink out of, was cramped and without space to place much more than a toothbrush. I hope the hotel will be reviewed by the brand soon to bring it up to the standard we experienced in e.g. the BW in Modena.

"You cannot get more central, LOVELY hotel and service!"
Simon F, 28 Août 2022

I visited Bergamo recently for the first time. Everyone told me that the city is lovely and indeed it is, WELL worth a visit. I chose this hotel as it is VERY central and thus convenient for almost everything. I arrived by car and my mate arrived from the UK by air and the taxi ride to the hotel was only 15 Euro! They have a great car park only about 100m from the hotel which is also secure. Rooms are lovely breakfast also excellent and the staff first class. EXCELLENT.

"Wonderful hotel Great location Good price"
eranu2013, 03 Août 2022

We arrived for one night to tour Bergamo. This hotel is located right in the center, on the boulevard to the upper city. Lovely room, clean, convenient, warm service. Good breakfast. No view from the window - who cares. 15 steps to the bus station, in the city and to/from the airport.

"Lovely stay"
H1034AFpaul_s, 20 Mai 2022

Just returned from stay here great hotel ideal for exploring Bergamo and the old town which is a must, rooms very comfortable try and get a city view one well worth it,staff friendly and helpful and breakfast in the morning was excellent enough choice considering it was continental

"Great location for exploring Bergamo"
Honeyinmyveins, 18 Avril 2022

We stated in Capello D'oro for a few days. For a chain style hotel it was pretty good though getting a little tired. The rooms were spacious and quiet and the service was friendly and helpful. It's biggest attraction was location, less than 10 minutes from the station (where the airport bus also stops) and near the shops and 10 mins from the funicular. It was a great base for the start of our visit. Our room was on the main road side but surprisingly quiet. If you want functional and a good locaiton this is it. We had looked at the other Best Western nearer to the station and this was clearly the better (and cheaper) choice of the two

"Perfect location!"
judycG1346WW, 07 Avril 2022

This was a lovely hotel in every regard. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The room was gorgeous with a view over the city. We had bathrobes and slippers in the room and a fridge. Beds were very comfortable too. The location is excellent. Shops and restaurants are very close and the bus stop to the airport and the Orio centre is right outside the hotel. We would definitely stay here again!

"Very comfortable and central"
suirtean, 20 Janvier 2022

We stayed two nights in the Best Western Hotel Cappello D'Oro it is a very good location in the city. Easy for shopping and walking around Cita Basso. !0 minutes from the train station and close to get to the historical old city. room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was average. The obvious Covid-19 rules were in place and observed. Staff were professional. We were happy with the price level of comfort and location.

"Terrible organisation, bad breakfast, no proper bar"
stevewK2990SU, 08 Décembre 2021

Blame what you want on COVID but our friends staying in hotels nearby did not have our problems. Breakfast was like feeding time at a zoo..everything spread over two rooms was like hunter/gathering had returned. A table with one lovely lady asking what the next person in the line wanted..then the eggs and bacon were stone cold and terrible standard. Booked superior room on westerns.com site and was given just the standard room , told could not move as hotel too busy! No bar, it's a few optics bolted to the wall..not to socialise or feel comfortable. Would not stay again, our friends hotels we visited were much better. Sadly...

"Perfect location for your visit."
Eamonn2013, 21 Septembre 2021

Absolutely perfect location in the midst of the hight street shops, restaurants and a stones throw from the Old City accessible by Funicular.Staff at reception ,restaurant and room services were so friendly and helpful.A special word of thanks to Verdiana-Cristina who organised our stay from Dublin.

"Management Issues"
pike121291, 05 Août 2021

Hotel is undergoing major reconstruction with noise levels so loud it is impossible to stay/work in the room starting at 8 am. Also the hotel is extremely hot. I am not someone who complains about air conditioning and have visited Italy many times for work but it is 80F+ in the rooms at all times making it difficult to sleep. Management was difficult to deal with. The hotel does not meet Best Western standards and I recommend staying somewhere else when visiting Bergamo.

"Wonderful staff and modern rooms"
EllenChr, 19 Juillet 2021

Location is amazing. Just 5-10 min by foot from the train station and 10-12 min from the funicolare. The hotell is modern and the rooms have all you need. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom modern with a spacious showerroom, there's a minibar and coffe/tea facilities. A lot of point for charging electronic devices and good lighting. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had booked an upgraded room so we also had a balcony towards the back with sunbeds. Wonderful for the evening as well as for an hour or two in the sun during the day. Shops and restaurants are all around

"Poor customer care"
Fearless527816, 07 Octobre 2020

We pre booked non-refundable room before Covid hit. We then asked to change dates to the following year and offered to pay any difference in price that might occur. They refused but offered a special discount if we rebooked for next year. The special discount was 8% off??????? Seriously disgusted. We will never stay in any of their hotels again regardless of the city we choose!!!!

"Perfect weekend"
alisonrayclarke, 10 Décembre 2019

Excellent weekend break. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Great location, rooms and breakfast. Highly recommend. Very picturesque area, plenty to see and do, the old town is beautiful with lovely views.

"Good hotel - Best location in town"
orly c, 01 Décembre 2019

Everything was fine, new and well appointed hotel, well kept, clean, good standard and friendly staff. Super location, just 15 minutes from the airport and the bus stops right outside the hotel. The hotel has a great location in relation to the train station, shops, restaurants, the old town etc. Only thing that could be a little better is the quality of the breakfast. Several things needs improvment as the scrambled eggs and so on. All in all a good hotel and we will be back and recommend to our friends and family.

"Very nice central hotel"
terryc709, 19 Novembre 2019

Room and hotel are very clean. Staff are helpful and attentive. Continental breakfast had a good selection of fruit cheese and meats. Good coffee. Nice bar with local bottled beers, served with a tray of crudités and snacks. Slightly strange bathroom - the sink has no empty of flat surface to put your toothbrush/ razor etc and there is no shelf so toilet bag has to live on the floor. The large bathroom mirror has a shaving/makeup magnifying mirror fixed high on to it. No big deal but I had to stand on tip toe to shave - I'm 5'11” !

"Close to the centre"
avsm, 09 Novembre 2019

had one night stay after late arrival to Bergamo airport before going to Milan next day. It was walking distance to both old town (citta alta) and railway station, which was convenient. Room was reasonably well appointed, and so was the bathroom. Bathroom shower has issue similar to many other hotels - with shower controls located behind the showered - so one have choice of being sprayed with either cold or hot water (depending which tap one turn first). It was uncomfortably warm without any means to address this except opening the window. Sound insulation also hot great as one can hear what's going on in the room next door Breakfast was plentiful and absolutely worth paying for. Biggest inconvenience was the lift which is clearly small for the hotel of this size - as lift cabin size only allowed 2 person to fit, it created waits at the busy times. If price is right, I would not have any issues staying there again.

"Great location, not great experience "
Ashleyfaz, 28 Octobre 2019

While the location of the hotel was excellent, and the lobby area was very pleasant, our room was not as advertised. What we booked based on the picture online and what we actually ended up with were very different. The room was much smaller than expected, and the mattress was very thin and old and uncomfortable. When we showed the front desk the picture of what we booked they were disinterested in helping us.

"Highly recommended!"
ioannavan, 14 Octobre 2019

This hotel is my fist choice when I am visiting Bergamo. Helpful staff, great services and perfect location close to public transportation are some of the advantages! This time I enjoyed a renovated minimal and fresh room!

"Good location. Staff disinterested"
marbuc, 18 Septembre 2019

Great location. Staff disinterested. Bar closed at 10.30! Not much atmosphere. Had to request change of bedroom due to no natural light and shutters tied together. New room perfect. Not four star standard

"Central to everything in Bergamo"
mayntz-dk, 10 Septembre 2019

Nice hotel with walking distance to the Old Bergamo and only 15 min by taxi to the airport. If you want a trip to the mountains this is also a good starting point. Breakfast is also clearly recommended.

"Spring in Bergamo "
Barbara F, 29 Mai 2019

My husband and I only stayed two nights in Bergamo. This hotel was very clean, staff was friendly and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good too. We wish we had more time to enjoy in this town.

"Very outdated and uncomfortable"
curious_emilija, 06 Mai 2019

One star goes for the location and the other star goes to polite and friendly staff. The hotel itself is a complete mess. Our room was very outdated and small (to the point that if you might be claustrophobic - don't book it), there were no night curtains only white transparent ones. The shower made terrible noise and there were something that looked like mold on the wall in the shower! I would say that the room was cleaned pretty well, but the outdated and worn-out design made it look and feel dirty.. Won't be coming back and definitely don't recommend this place.

"Good hotel but some things to know in advance"
Julie B, 24 Avril 2019

We paid 170 € for a deluxe room. It was decent size but I was shocked when I saw the bathroom with a tiny, crappy shower. We were planning to stay 5 nights so went back down and requested a room with a bathtub, which the desk clerk did without hesitation. Parking cost 18 € per day and it was hard to find the narrow entrance to the lot; you need a code to open the gate. Breakfast buffet was okay but machines dispensed horrid instant coffee. We learned our second morning we could request real cappuccino from the very nice waitstaff. I went to use the gym and my key didn't work. Desk clerk told me it was not included in the price of our room: 8 € per day unless it's a corporate reservation. I said I'd never heard of such a thing, especially since we were paying for a deluxe room. The desk clerk relented and fixed my key so I could use it for free. Once was enough. The gym is in a windowless basement room, the equipment limited. If I'd paid 8 € to use it I would have been outraged. Everything worked out in the end because of the helpful staff.

"Terrible "
mephistog, 22 Avril 2019

Terrible Customer Service, very unfriendly, very rude. Food was unbeatable Room and bathroom very dirty I can't believe this is a four star hotel!!! Never ever ever again I'm coming to this hotel. Please find another hotel unless you want to regret your choice!

"Great start to my 1st trip to Europe"
mdpinky2, 13 Avril 2019

My daughter and I stayed the night in Bergamo before heading to Venice since her flight was arriving in Bergamo late and mine landed in Linate airport earlier in the afternoon. It could not have worked out better. We were so happy with this hotel and the service we received. Everyone is smiling and very welcoming. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable. Hot water pot and mini refrigerator in the room, plush towels and a bathrobe. The breakfast was the best I have had that was included with the room, with so many options, even with me being gluten-intolerant and needing protein and low carbs. Our brief visit in Bergamo was a wonderful start to our vacation.

"Awful experience"
Stéphanie F, 01 Avril 2019

Bad service, too you g to take any decisions... Hands me the key assuming I know the room number... Perfect example of their professionnalism! Had to change room due to bad smell. The mattress of the 2nd room was very old and very uncomfortable. Found insects on my bed and on the floor. Cherry on the cake I was stung by who knows what and had spots all over my body! There was a group of very noisy young people. One night a girl was sick at the reception!!! Call that a 4 star hotel :((

"Lovely Central Hotel"
malynch50, 20 Mars 2019

We stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't fault anything. We were a large party and all accommodated on the one floor which was great. All our superior rooms were different, immaculate, plenty toiletries, tea/coffee and fantastic large towels. Only issue in room was heating as too hot but reception quickly fixed that. There was a great choice of fresh food, cereal, breads, cake for breakfast along with good coffees. All the staff in this hotel were lovely, friendly, very helpful and truly helped to make our stay special.

"Great hotel"
MariusMost, 13 Février 2019

Great stay at this superior hotel, great buffef breakfast offered. The location is perfect as a bus stop is situated just outside the door. The rooms are well equipped and spacious. Staff are friendly

"Five star"
silviog437, 12 Février 2019

One of the best hotel I've never visited. The staff is real a five Star staff. They remembered my name when I arrived and this is amazing. I love the room, the breakfast and other complete facilities.

"Stayed over New Years Eve in 2018/19. Well located. No parking"
Roberto J, 15 Janvier 2019

Was there with my family for new years've - right in the city centre. comfortable rooms, friendly staff, decent internet and decent Breakfast. Just be aware that there is no parking - you have to use a public parking 1 block away. room window blocked all the music from the street- it was quite a surprise . the street has some good restaurant options.

"New year break"
Cliffmalta, 31 Décembre 2018

The hotel staff are very welcoming and the hotel is excellently located - the rooms are comfortable s clean staff friendly and the hotel is in easy walking distance to citta alta - great value for money and highly recommended

"Birthday celebration visit "
Bluerobin59, 10 Décembre 2018

Stayed here with several other couples family and friends. The hotel is in an ideal location in the middle of Porto Nuovo . There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which goes straight to the airport. The rooms are clean and comfy. The room we had on the fourth floor had a balcony. The hottie very warm ! We kept the door open as even with the heat turned down we were hot. The breakfast was very extensive and fresh with good vegetarian options . An improvement the hotel could make is that the night porter wouldn't phone a taxi as he said they wouldn't come for the hotel and that even though I told him my partner was struggling with breathing after walking half way down from the Upper town in the pouring rain he told me to phone directory enquiries while standing in the pouring rain in the street! Most hotels have direct contact with taxi firms. I would suggest that the hotel tries to secure a relationship with a taxi for urgent situations. Otherwise it's s very good hotel and good value for money.

"Couple of nights in Bergamo"
pekkam, 29 Novembre 2018

Pleasant hotel in the centre of Bergamo. Good buffet breakfast with all you need for morning. Quite small single rooms, but was moved to a twin room which had more space. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

"Ideally situated"
CliveMcph, 29 Novembre 2018

Excellent hotel. Friendly, comfortable, service-minded, professional. Good breakfast. Easy access from airport and within walking distance of the upper and lower towns. We felt welcome and we enjoyed the positive atmosphere.

"Excellent stay"
Kiltboys, 10 Novembre 2018

Really central location, great breakfast and friendly staff. The hotel was fully booked on the morning of our departure, so there was no possibility of a later check out. It wasn't a big deal, and I'm sure they would've accommodated us if they could. I would stay here again. Bergamo itself was a wonderful surprise.

"Super location and friendly staff"
Anthony S, 06 Novembre 2018

We stayed here for four nights and must admit that our choice of this hotel was indeed an excellent one. Situated adjacent to Porta Nuova in Lower Bergamo, and only a short walk from the Central Bus Station, train station and the Funicolare to Bergamo Alta. The bus stop for the airport bus is just outside the Hotel and that's another positive considering that the bus ticket to the airport costs only €2.30. Staff was extremely friendly, especially at the reception desk, always ready to provide advice and recommendations in so far as restaurants and transportation is concerned. Bus tickets are also available for sale at the hotel desk. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated rooms and a good breakfast to round it up. Will surely opt for Cappello d'Oro if we return back to Bergamo.

"Central location"
GlenB396, 30 Octobre 2018

An excellent comfortable hotel, which is a bit like Dr Who's Tardis - much bigger on the inside than it looks from outside! Very well equipped and furnished bedroom/bathroom with all amenities. Comfortable bed and wifi which is fully connected. The airport bus (BGY) stops practically in the lobby and costs all of €2.30 !!!!

"Always a place to return"
cristianiorga2004, 18 Octobre 2018

A very nice place . Each time I travel to Bergamo I enjoy staying in this Hotel.Friendly staff, a very good breakfast and comfortable modern rooms.Easy access from/to airport or train station. Just in the middle of the city very close to most attractive touristic point Citta Alta.

"perfect family room"
naic982, 06 Septembre 2018

Arrived late at night with 2 young boys in tow and immediately felt relaxed. The room was excellent, clean and modern and laid out in an L-shape so the boys part of the room was separate from ours. The choice at breakfast was great and the staff were super. The hotel has a great location only 10mins walk to the fernicular to the old town, with plenty to see and do nearby. We really enjoyed visiting Bergamo, the views and buildings are fabulous without the packed feeling of Lake Garda.

"Lovely town centre hotel"
chrismadden63, 05 Septembre 2018

Located in the heart of Bergamo new town and easy walking distance of the venicular to the old town this is a well presented hotel, worthy of its four star rating and with some excellent staff who were very attentive. Breakfast room was excellent with super choice of hot and cold buffet and very clean. Our standard family room was superb being very modern and having a white and grey theme : only disappointment was that being at the rear of the hotel there was no view other than of a fire escape staircase and an internal courtyard. Bed was very comfortable and room was spotless and exceptionally quiet despite a full hotel. Well worth stopping at.

"Birthday treat"
Rickytrips1234, 24 Août 2018

Many thanks to all the staff at this hotel especially Andrea who made my wife and her friends very welcome. A great part of Bergamo with easy transport links to the old town as well as other parts of Italy via the train station a short walk away.

"Hot, hot, hot 'air-conditioned' rooms"
Travellover1Usa, 07 Août 2018

I was very uncomfortable throughout my stay at this hotel. The room was so hot I could not sleep. I'm not one of those people who want the air to be 68 or 70 degrees, however this hotel has an apparently iron clad policy of setting room thermostats at 79 degrees! After asking repeatedly at the front desk for relief, they finally admitted that they could not set the thermostat cooler. It was several degrees hotter in the room than it was outside. The window did not open, and the air was absolutely still. This was miserable. Yes, this hotel has 'air conditioning,' but don't think for a moment that your room will be anything but hot, hot, hot. In my opinion, this is false advertising. I did not get value for the money ($100 per night.) This is a big rip off. Don't stay here unless you enjoy 78- 80 degree rooms.

"Good"
Dror Dave M, 23 Juillet 2018

The best hotel in the city right in the middle of the city best location best services very-good clean and neat plenty of shops around the stuff is very hopeful This season is very hot humidity very Hi. Still best location for a good Prize

"Good value for money"
Ivan D, 06 Juillet 2018

I spent 2 days in this hotel with my family during first week of July. It is very well located, in the city center, close to everything and 15 min walk from funiculare which takes you to old city. For people coming from Bergamo airport, bus stop is 50m away from hotel. I heard that they have parking but I am not aware of the price. Location may be problematic from noise perspective as it is in the main street but can't say more as our room was oriented to the other and very quiet side. Rooms are very modern, clean, everything looks brand new there. Breakfast excellent, big variety of options. Personnel very helpful, friendly, approachable for everything. My rating would be 4.5. and definitely we would go back again.

"Spacious rooms with nice view."
abay2017, 29 Juin 2018

Our room was pretty spacious and clean. We had a view of the square and Santa Maria Church. The hotel is in central location, close to several nice restaurants and shopping areas. Front desk people and service in general were good. Included breakfast could be better, but it was still ok.

"Needs an update"
Carlarsen, 11 Juin 2018

This Hotel is very unspectacular and has definitely known better times. The room and furnitures needs a redecoration. Most of the power strips (which are working) are hanging loose from the wall. Service at the front desk are friendly.

"Great central hotel"
Bill B, 28 Mai 2018

You will find this friendly clean hotel is central to all the things you will want to do and visit in Bergamo. Plus the train station is just a few minutes walk, where you can catch a regular service to Milan. It is also just a short taxi ride from the airport. We found the room to be very clean and comfortable They also had a very good selection for the buffet continental breakfast

"Hotel for touristic needs in Lower town"
Ilyas03, 08 Mai 2018

Stayed here with my wife to see around Bergamo for a couple of nights. Hotel is located in the center of lower town, 10 minute walk to Funicolare Città Alta which will raise you directly to historical upper town. Hotel provides a parking in underground garage - 18 euro/night, Rooms are not so spasious, but equipped with all necessities, including a fridge/minibar and a safe. Breakfast is vast, providing hot and cold meals, fruits, pastries. Especially taking into consideration local habits of local "LA COLAZIONE" with coffee and sweet pastry. The stuff is very hospitable and polite, Pillows can be requested at your choice. After all, hotel is very much recommended for staying.

"A Pleasant Three Night Stay"
lfiebert, 02 Mai 2018

We were initially provided with a lovely, modern newly decorated room, however the odor from the new tile negatively impacted my wife who has asthma. A change of room was provided and the new room although a bit older was fine. The staff at the hotel was extremely pleasant and helpful at check-in, the room change, sight seeing directions, restaurant suggestions, and at check out. I was surprised to have been charged 5 Euros for the use of the fitness facility. On the Trip Advisor site, it merely says fitness center and there is no indication that it is a pay for use per day. The fitness center left a lot to be desired-1 exercise bike, 1 treadmill and 1 weight machine. No wipes to sanitize equipment before/after use. Unless you are an exercise junkie, you might be better off passing on this “amenity.” The main negative I experienced had to do with the fact that the WiFi did not work at all in our room. It worked fine everywhere else- in the hallway, the lobby, the breakfast area the WiFi was fine. Reception Staff was informed, and I was told the problem would be fixed - it wasn't! I asked a second time several hours later and was told they would be attending to my problem. But Still no WIFI!! The whole 3 days I did not have in-room WiFi! I think the hotel should have made some monetary adjustment for the lack of WiFi! In a positive note - The breakfast was excellent, the breakfast room staff was helpful and friendly. With the exception of the WiFi Issue, our stay was very pleasant.

"Luxury"

Great hotel! We walked in and immediately felt at home. It is in the city centre, which when visiting this city is recommended. The downside is there is incredibly limited parking. The hotel charges 22 Euro per night to park or just around the corner is a parking garage that is 15 Euro for 24 hours; the caveat is it is very steep and narrow to drive down into it and a small car is highly recommended! The hotel included breakfast which was wonderful and a great start to the day. The room itself had wifi. It was very comfortable and the beds were wonderful. Great place to stay when visiting the city of Bergamo.

"Great location, great hotel"
Ksush, 22 Mars 2018

I had an excellent stay at Best Western Cappello D'Oro. Perfectly located in the center of Bergamo, short walk or bus ride to all the landmarks, shopping, places to eat. The bus stop is literally in front of the entrance - easy ride to Airport or Citta Alta. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, tea-making facilities, safe box, wifi. Staff is friendly and very efficient. Hotel is perfect wether you come to explore the city, have business meetings or romantic gateway.

"Good hotel in Bergamo city centre, good breakfast. WiFi was not working ok"
Ales L, 01 Mars 2018

Good hotel in the center of the Bergamo and really close to the old part of the town. A lot of nice restaurants and bars are nearby. Breakfast is really nice and at cosy atmosphere with firepit. Good selection of the food. They also serve gluten free food up on the request. They have a juicer so you can prepare your own fruit/veggy juice. Rooms are nice, just AC is sometimes tricky and loud, so it's better to switch it off during the night if you have light sleep. Having complimentary wifi is great, just the connection is not the best. you have to search for the spots in the room where reception of the signal is good, but still there is a lot of disconnections of the wifi. Definitely something they should improve. Staff at the reception is nice and friendly. I missed a hotel bar. Overall it was nice experience.

"Recommend it, any time!"
U2429LZdavidp, 23 Février 2018

As we were there just last week, and the temperature was -1 degrees, the hotel was central heated throughout. Our room overlooking the main road was small, but very clean and very cosy. Shower/bathroom was tops! Breakfast was good and the employees were very helpful throughout, especially Frank. The hotel is very centrally located in citta bassa. There was a bit of a mishap with the TV set, as it was knew and had not been connected as yet. Thanks, hope to visit again.

"Great location for Valentine's Day visit xxx"
Rickytrips1234, 14 Février 2018

What a great hotel in a fantastic location a short cab ride from the airport or a short walk from the train station or a bus to outside the hotel. Andrea on reception was first class with the help he gave us arranging some extra water and other little requirements.

"Good stay"
Vladimir C, 05 Février 2018

The hotel has excellent location - close enough to Citta Alta - beautiful old city of Bergamo - and is exactly in the center of downtown of Bergamo. The room was little bit dated but clean, the bed was comfy. The breakfast was good (not something special, but good), but don't drink a coffee from coffee maker (really bad!), but ask waitress to bring you your favorite coffee - and you'll enjoy Italian coffee.

"Lovely visit in January"
Andy f, 22 Janvier 2018

I stayed at the hotel for a long weekend whilst visiting an exhibition in Milan. The hotel is excellently located and the airport bus stop is right outside the front door with buses every 15 minutes from very early morning until midnight. The airport is only fifteen minutes outside the town, Bergamo is a prosperous town and has fabulous bars, restaurants, cafes and the shopping is excellent. Both the old and new town are well worth a visit Its a thriving place and a desirable spot for those working in Milan. Daily flights from Manchester also help. The hotel is spotlessly clean, has good recently furbished rooms, good value for money and a cracking selection at breakfast. Staff helpful and speak good English. I would definitely stay here again.

"Great location,helpfull stuff,clean room,delicious breakfast"
Lyenka, 16 Janvier 2018

This hotel can offer you everything you want.Great location (in front of the hotel is bus stop to airport and to the historical Citta alta-number 1),friendly and helpfull stuff (they answer you on every question, have maps, print you boarding pass for free etc),delicious breakfast (f.o-they offer lactose free milk ?? what is rare to see in the hotels),clean rooms and comfortable bed!

"Great Hotel Great Location"
Alun58, 07 Décembre 2017

Hotel is within walking distance of old town, restaurants, bars, train station.Rooms are qiuet, clean and tidy, staff are attentive and helpful. Breakfast is really good value with plenty of choice, only 5 euros. Must visit the old town, very quaint, old and interesting.Cheap bus passes available, with buses running to the airport every 15 mins for 2 euros, with the bus stop right outside the hotel door. Would definitly recommended this hotel if staying Bergamo

"Romantic City Break!"
Tara68, 13 Novembre 2017

Booked a deluxe room with Queen bed! Had a very comfortable stay! Clean and tidy! Very central to all the restaurants. The funicular was a 13 minute walk which took you up to the old town. Staff were friendly and spoke very good English! Would give 5 stars however it could do with some decorating in the bathroom- just a minor niggle.

"Our third visit in Cappello D'Oro"
Gombperec , 10 Novembre 2017

We like the central location and the kindness of the staff. This time we got a spacious clean room with a lovely view to the Porta Nuova - comfy bed, adequate bath, coffee maker (important!). Very good breakfast with excellent service. Nice flower and Halloween arrangement in the lobby. But: the central heating is imperfect: the first three night was very cold (external temperature was about 10 C degrees) and NO heating. The receptionist said, the heating works, but that was not the case. Ok, we got blankets and heater, but we missed the central heating. On our last night finally there was heating from 18 to 20h ...

"Excellent value"
fredlZ3697VX, 31 Octobre 2017

Hotel could benefit from renovation of décor and furnishing, but it is quite comfortable, and its excellent location and service provide exceptional value for money. I particularly appreciated the very comfortable firm mattress and the quiet of the room despite the hotel's high level of occupancy and location on a busy street. The bus stop a few steps away also provided quick and easy access to the old city, which was our primary destination.

"Old room and inconvenient to old town. "
Suwatss, 21 Octobre 2017

This hotel is one of two best western hotels in Bergamo. It is located in the new town almost 2 km away from the old town, which we find inconvenient to walk to. The hotel is old and room is aging but clean. Its breakfast is good though with many choices of fruits, breads, and eggs and sausages. Plus we loved the fresh juice which you can do yourself using the squeeze machine.

"Good location in Citta Bassa"
MandyNIreland, 14 Octobre 2017

The hotel is very well located in Bergamo for Citta Bassa and Citta Alta, staff are friendly. The room was small, disappointing given we stayed for a week......housekeeping is hit and miss, one day no milk, next day something different, but reception always gave these on request. Revolving front door is a menace as it is set at fast speed! Breakfast is good, and a good choice with loads available. The drawback is the hotel rooms are dated, and the air con is not the most effective.

"The hotel is good, but..."
frequenttraveller227, 10 Octobre 2017

The hotel is in a really good location between the train station and main shopping area, also good for public transport. Staff are friendly and pleasant, the reception staff also speak good English. Hotel is very clean, rooms are well cleaned, etc. Breakfast was good, and there is a computer terminal for customers in the lobby. However, it is important to know that the "deluxe" rooms vary hugely in size, and we felt that only one of the three we booked for our group was worth the extra money we paid. (Reception assured us twice - on arrival and departure - that we had been assigned deluxe rooms.) That was extremely annoying as the booking cost substantially more overall, and the stay at the hotel was intended as a birthday treat. It also hasn't helped that my review on booking.com simply got one of the hotel customer service's standard replies. I am afraid Best Western will be well down my list for future bookings.

"Dr."
Alessandro A, 09 Octobre 2017

Being here for a business trip i had a pleasant and comfortable stay. Located near the train station is also closed to the pedestrian area of Bergamo bassa plenty of resturant and pubs where you can eat or have a drink. Also walking distance from the the teleferica to ascend to Bergamo alta.

"An Ideal location."
daver1973, 08 Octobre 2017

A great location for arriving and departing on the Airport bus (buy a 72 hour tourist ticket). Everything you would expect of a four star hotel. The staff seem to speak many languages and can offer advice if required. Jonny was star employee in our opinion, a great breakfast. The room was and was kept spotless through our entire stay. There is outside noise, but you are staying in a city centre. Use this hotel for visiting the Citta Alta OR explore beyond the city. Take a bus from the station to Lovere (line c) or a 90 minute train trip to Sulzano then short ferry to Monte Isola. Also the TEB to Albino and Cable car to Selvino.

"The best hotel in Bergamo!"
Greece2008Yorkshire, 26 Septembre 2017

The Best Western Cappello D'Oro is located roughly half way between the train station and the Citta Alta funicular stop near Porta Nuova. Bus 1 which stops outside the funicular stop, stops opposite the hotel. A bus ticket also includes the funicular without additional charge. The check in was efficient but would be good if a city map was offered. The revolving door was set at too fast a speed meaning it was difficult to enter safely. The triple room was clean, spacious, well-appointed and contained 3 full sized beds 2 of which are permanent and one which is a rollaway with a full size mattress. The air -conditioning was ok but could be more effective. The arm chair was comfortable. The WiFi worked faultlessly. It was unusual that the curtains did not fully close however the shutter and net curtain are sufficient to block out exterior light. The bathroom with a shower was well-appointed however, an extraction fan would be good. The breakfast had a good variety of savoury items including scrambled and boiled egg as well as sweet items. The fruit salad in a glass was good. The breakfast staff were happy to make a fresh cappuccino which was significantly better than the machine variety. A good selection of Twinings tea was available including decaffeinated. Cloth napkins at breakfast was a nice touch. The Best Western points were credited to my account promptly which was good.

"Excellent breakfast"
465gabrieleg, 15 Septembre 2017

I stayed for a weekend with friends in this hotel, the location is perfect, our room had a view of the old town ( what a magnificent place) rooms are clean and the staff at the reception are very polite. Breakfast was superb, lot of delicious food, some of it I guess was local and Luisa and the staff at breakfast was very nice and friendly. I Definitely advice to stay here, the location and the service are a plus.

"Centrally located in Bergamo. "
AtleSoloy, 14 Septembre 2017

3 minutes from The Shopping streets, and only 10 min walk to The tram up to The Old City. Breakfast was Good, however The matress and pillows in The room Are Too hard. Bathroom was recently renovated.

"Great stay would use this hotel again"
Joanne B, 09 Septembre 2017

In a nutshell; efficient and welcoming reception staff, helpful and friendly service from all staff, clean well sized and equipped room. We wouldn't stay here for an anniversary as it's not 'special' in that way but great for a weekend break (or week in our case). We didn't dine at the hotel so can't comment on the food. Plenty local cafes and restaurants on the doorstep so no need. We did have one issue with water leaking from the air con unit but was fixed immediately so no problem. One small ask of the hotel, some of the electricity sockets in our room where very loose on the wall and needed fastening more securely. Special thanks to the cleaning lady who ran after us on our last day to give me my mobile phone (whoops!) as had left it in the room - grazie!!

"Central, spacious, decent breakfast"
LargelyMonk, 01 Septembre 2017

Most Best Westerns are pretty good and this is no exception. It's a straight walk north from the station and a further walk north to the funicular to take you to the old city. The hotel has a nice sun terrace with a temporary bar, a decent buffet breakfast ( although they need to get rid of the orange press which makes a dreadful racket), comfortable . well appointed rooms and friendly staff. Its very central and there are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby.

"great location"
rada8, 10 Août 2017

Stayed here in May for 3 days. Got the airport bus 1a.cost 2 euro or get a 3 day ticket in airport office for 7euro.allows you 3 days hop on and off all local buses and the funiculars..airport bus stops outside hotel. Continental breakfast okay,we found the hot food was lukewarm most days.but a very good selection of breads ,cakes, cold food also you can make your own juice .Gulia the breakfast waitress every morning was always smiling and helpful. We loved our room, lovely view of the church and street ,we could open the large window, and sit and watch the world go by..Room has a free safe, bathrobes no slippers.Towels changed every day cleaner was always cheerful as well. We loved the old town, you can get the bus across the road up to funicular,or walk about 10 mins to it, turn left out of hotel, straight walk up..,Went there every night its so beautiful. if you turn right out of hotel train and bus station is about 10 min walk. We went by train to Lecco ,and by bus to Lake Como. We would stay here again, lovely hotel and a great location.

"Great, like all "best western hotels" we were in the past!"
CorSheleg, 06 Août 2017

the room was beautiful. but the minibar did not worked, so we were invited to change the room. the stuff is very calm and efficient. the breakfast was tasty and rich, the air condition was silent and the bed comfortable. sorry we have to be there only for a night. I hope we'll return.

"Great value & location"
MrMrsRitchie, 05 Août 2017

Great value hotel in a great location. Rooms and bathroom are basic but decent and clean. Breakfast is a standard continental but there is sufficient choice. Rooms have lots of plug sockets and good free wi-fi. Also rooms have kettle, mugs, and selection of tea and coffees. Staff are friendly and helpful. The airport bus stops right outside the hotel. If you get a 72 hour bus ticket at the airport you can use it to get to/from the airport and also use on the Bergamo and San Vigilio Funiculars. The Bergamo old town is beautiful, lots of windy old streets and lovely shops and cafes. The funicular up to San Vigilio is worth a visit with fantastic views of Bergamo and the surrounding areas.

"Perfect location-ok hotel"
mkhki, 27 Juillet 2017

The best thing is location in the heart of Bergamo. Not very modern but clean rooms. Bathrooms are small. Toilet is very close to the shower. Breakfast is good but nothing exceptional or superb. Good choice especially for short visits.

"just great!"
Ulinaaa, 25 Juillet 2017

The hotel is very clean and perfectly placed! Very close to the train station and to the little train which is carrying you to the top of the old part of Bergamo! If you are coming directly from the airport the bus stop is next to the doors of the hotel. Could not be better! :))) The room was very quiet and clean. If you care about breakfast this place is for you! They have a sweet and salty buffet with a LOT of varieties of hams/cheese/cakes/fruits etc.... Also warm sausages and eggs. We will come back here!!!!!

"Small Rooms"
ShirazJVachha, 20 Juillet 2017

The room I was given was extremely small, similar size to rooms you would find in Hong Kong. There was a unpleasant smell when you enter the room, that my friend who was with me, she had to leave the room immediately after we checked in due to the smell. There was no toothpaste or toothbrush in the room, considering this is an international chain of hotels, there should be the basic toiletries in the room.

"Capello D'Argento"
jimadvisor, 13 Juillet 2017

Everything in this hotel is fine except the price The best advantage is the location. You can explore very easily both the Citta alta and the Citta bassa and at the same time be very close to the rail station. The rooms are very nice except the lack of a wardrobe(there is a rail with hangers). I found the breakfast very tasty despite the limited choice of dishes. There is free wi-fi. It is a really good choice but a bit overpriced. You shouldn't fail to bear in mind the tourist tax which is additional to the hotel charge(3.50€/person/night).

"Good and clean "
zdeuvi, 09 Juillet 2017

I love all places which I visit with my man, and we stayed here min. 2 times. This hotel definitely deserves 4 stars. All is clean, and in order. The only flaw was the hotel staff, specifically two different receptionists who were a bit unpleasant and made us feel bothering them with our questions. Pity.

"Very Dissapointed-poor hotel"
initforthemoney, 07 Juillet 2017

I stayed for one night at the end of a business trip to meet a friend. My friend had recommended the hotel due to its location. Upon arrival I was greeted well and shown to my room based upon single occupancy. I entered the room and was surprised and disappointed that although only one person would be staying in the room the bed was not a double and the room was just big enough to walk around the bed. I would estimate the room was 2.5m square. The room did not have a light just lamps which was not ideal as you had to switch on at least two in different areas to illuminate the room sufficiently. The bathroom was a good size but the water temperature in the shower was inconsistant and the wall taps had to be constantly adjusted to maintain the correct temperature. The duvet was stained in several places and should have been dumped as it was disgusting. As a frequent traveller I was keen to inform the hotel of my findings so they could improve the service offered. However, upon departure I notified the lobby staff of my findings and although sympathetic no apology or explanation was offered. I would recommend this hotel for its location but not for its amenities, hygiene, quality of rooms or helpfulness of staff

"Please give me AC!!"
Johnnyp1389, 07 Juillet 2017

This hotel was nice with a great staff. Breakfast was good and the staff was really helpful when we asked for a crib and they helped me bring up my luggage. However, there was no AC in the room! In the lobby it felt great, the AC was pumping perfectly. I don't understand why the rooms are so hot and yet the lobby so comfortable. We called and asked for someone to look into the problem and they said there was no fix and then they lowered the thermostat temperature. That didn't fix it either. We thought it was just our room, but then we checked our parents room and it was the exact same. No AC in their room either. I read the reviews on here and saw that this seems to be a running theme with this hotel. Someone complains about the AC and then the staff responds that the problem has been fixed, yet here I am complaining of the AC issue again. My advice is turn the AC on in the rooms and let your guests be comfortable, not just your staff in the lobby. If you don't believe me, read the other reviews and you will see they have had AC problems for quite some time now.

"Hit and miss"
vanuatufan, 24 Juin 2017

Booked this hotel based on reviews but was very disappointed. On the plus side, check in was quick, the girls were professional, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Room was very small but clean. However, the air conditioning was non existent. Our room was hot. The controls were at least six feet high so I had to get a chair to try and adjust the temperature. When this didn't work we rang the desk. They sent someone to adjust the air consitioning. He brought it down to 13 degrees, but it made no difference, it was still hot in our room. So was the corridor. The only cool place in the hotel was the lobby. We spent 3 nights and hardly got any sleep. First day we asked for an iron which didn't come, so had to ring again. This time it was delivered quickly. Second day they replaced our coffee and milk but not the sugar or the tea, nor were the cups cleaned. Also, no complimentary water. Our towels were also not changed. The toilet roll was finished and not replaced and there was no spare roll in the cupboard so we rang for one. Half an hour later we were still waiting so we rang again. This time it arrived. The third day everything was fine except for the hot room. Definitely not 4 star.

"Enjoyable stay"
jcrichton, 24 Juin 2017

We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel on our recent visit to Bergamo. The location of the hotel is excellent being in the centre of the modern (lower) city adjacent to many shops and restaurants. The airport bus stop (both to and from) is situated outside the hotel. (Bus tickets are available everywhere - hotel, tobacconists etc. but not on the bus itself) Our initial room was on the third floor but when we arrived back after the first evening the air conditioning was making a dreadful noise which we reported and we were immediately relocated to a room on the fourth floor which was spacious, clean and nicely furnished (as was our first room) with the added bonus of a small terrace on which you could enjoy the evening sunshine. The room, which had TV, safe and coffee/tea making facilities, was at rear of hotel - very quiet. Breakfast was the normal hot and cold buffet with a good selection of food available - there was even a juicer where you could create your own juice from a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. All the hotel personnel - reception, dining room, chambermaids - were pleasant, friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed a delightful stay in this hotel visiting an equally delightful city. Hotel highly recommended.

"2-3 stars, saved by location. "
jannesco, 21 Juin 2017

If it had not been for the convenient location of this hotel & nice breakfast, I would have given 2 stars. We arrived about 4:30pm, went up to our room after check in & there was a man in there fixing the air conditioner. The carpet was left a bit damp. The room was very warm & muggy as it was over 30 degrees outside. We put the air conditioner on, but after a few hours the room hadn't cooled down. We then turned the air conditioner down to its lowest, which was 6 degrees. It wasn't until 5am that I was able to finally put the sheet over me in bed. Room was noisy with what sounded like metal trolleys going up the corridor during the night, and slamming doors. I would have complained and moved to another room had we not have to get up early at 6am the next morning. Worst sleep! Positives: - close to train station (about a 10 minute walk straight down the road). - close to restaurants and cafes - airport bus stop outside of hotel & you're able to pre-buy tickets for the bus at the hotel too! I also recommend getting on at this stop rather than the train station as there was much more room for bags & seats. Bus was very busy after stopping at the train station bus stop. - nice breakfast from 6:30am with friendly waitresses

"Such a nice experience :-)"
Kjersti190911, 10 Juin 2017

Do not be fooled by the rather dull facade of this hotel. As soon as you enter, the experience is a totally different one: Nice interior, very friendly staff, super service and a delicious breakfast with Italian products and quite a lot to choose from. And the best of all, the location with comfortable walking distance to nearly everything of interest in Bergamo : 7 min to tram/bus/railway, 5 min (just around the corner) to very nice shopping, bus to the airport just outside the entrance, and 15 min to the funicular to Citta Alta (Old Town). Our room was located away from the street, facing the court/back yard; very quiet, clean, a bit small but with a super nice balcony with two nice sun beds. There are very few rooms with a balcony, so book in due time if you want one! :-) The price is absolutely decent - staying here is really value for money.

"A Very Pleasant Stay"
CHESTERDEK, 10 Juin 2017

Enjoyable 3 night stay in Capello D'Oro - recommended General Comments: 1. Rooms - clean and comfortably furnished although on the "compact" side, somewhat erratic shower but serviceable. Large bed a bit on the hard side but comfortable 2. Breakfast - pretty good, decent selection. 3. Service - friendly and helpful 4. Location - Right in the middle of town, next to bus stops to airport, station and the Old Town (No.1 bus to airport is right outside (no need for taxis!) 5. Free good WiFi Overall, good value for money TIP - Buy 2/3 day travel pass for use on buses AND funicular to Old Town - terrific value for money (7 euros for 72 hours) - purchase at Tourist Info. in airport arrivals and use straightaway on the Airport Bis (No.1) to hotel.

"Great hotel"
Robertabingo, 09 Juin 2017

Good value a short distance from station and short walk into town . Staff excellent - highly recommend for visit to this beautiful town. Vast choice for breakfast. Lovely courtyard for evending drinks or breakfast.

"Council causes sleepless nights"
NorrisHatter, 08 Juin 2017

There are many positives about this hotel. The staff are excellent, the location – next to the number 1 bus route is so, so convenient and the breakfast is outstanding. But its too warm. We visited in March when the outside temperature was pleasantly warm in the day but chilly at night. Our first room seemed hot and when we turned on the aircon it blasted hot air out – even on a cold setting. We had the window open all night and the “aircon” turned off but slept restlessly. In the morning we spoke to reception, who happily and quickly organised a move of room (as I said, excellent staff). We asked about the aircon and were told that the municipality doesn't allow the hotel to operate its aircon until the summer for environmental reasons (it wasn't clear what they were). Our second night was belter (again with windows open all night), but not much. Ironically it might be cooler here when it's hotter, if you see what I mean as in the summer the aircon would be available. Despite the sleep problems we would consider coming back as everything else was spot on.

"hotel in good location"
kelsoladdie, 02 Juin 2017

very handy location. If booking ask for rear room above 2nd floor. The hotel does have 4 rooms on 4th floor with large balconies at only 5 euro per night. You have to request this direct with hotel. The only thing is rooms with balconies have no bath tub just a shower, but the balconies are worth it. The bathrooms are good size and have cupboards under sink for storage which is a bonus. The breakfasts are excellent and although they have self service coffee machine the friendly staff will get you fresh coffee to your taste Bedrooms are very clean and bedding changed on a regular basis

"Excellent location"
Derrysal, 22 Mai 2017

This rambling but comfortable hotel is well placed for exploring Bergamo being on the bus route from the airport via the station to Bergamo Alto. Whilst some of the rooms need some TLC, the beds are comfy and the breakfast is very good. There is also a small sun terrace.

"very good"
mrtobias, 17 Mai 2017

had a room on the top floor at the back of the hotel which was less noisy than front. Nice big room with a balcony with two loungers . Also had a mini fridge and nice bathroom. No complaints with breakfast ,cereals, fruit, hot dishes and plenty of cakes/pastries. Hotel in a good location with bus stop right outside to/from airport and also to old town

"Another lovely stay."
lynneybell, 15 Mai 2017

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel and again I was pleased to find the room facing main street was quiet, very clean, refurbished bathroom with lovely soft towels. Shower wash provided, but not separate shampoo which I would prefer. Comfy bed and 2 thick pillows. Good free wifi and free safe (which is a bonus as so many hotels now charge for use of safe). Breakfast had good choice of juices, cakes and pastries, fresh fruit and limited choice of hot items. We sat in the bar one evening for drink before going out to eat. The bar is only open 6-10pm which is a shame as would have liked a nightcap on our return. Airport bus stops directly opposite hotel on arrival and just outside of hotel when returning to airport and is in ideal location for reaching Citta Alta with its wide choice of shops and restaurants. No doubt will be returning to hotel in near future as Bergamo is a lovely city for short breaks.

"Surprising good"
Cristahl A, 03 Mai 2017

I spent two nights in this hotel. My room was at the 3rd floor under renovation. Room already fixed & renovated clean and space enough inside. Window can be opened. Good service at the reception. Very good breakfast.

"Great Hotel"
Ian T, 01 Mai 2017

Superbly located hotel in Bergamo. Short walking distance to the railway station, bus stops, and the funicular. Lots of good bars and cafes locally. All hotel staff very friendly, helpful and efficient. Very clean and comfortable hotel.

"Lovely central hotel"
hippy17, 29 Avril 2017

Stayed for 3 nights , it's great for airport bus , train station and seeing round 'new' town. It's only 10-15min walk to funicular up to old town. Lovely room and great buffet breakfast ( though hot food a little limited). Very helpful staff , who recommended we go to Lecco it was gorgeous. Only downside is there's not really a bar so lacked a bit of atmosphere, again there's a nice outdoor terrace which would be nice to have coffee/drink. Would definitely recommend.

"Brilliant location"
Brenda D, 20 Avril 2017

We stayed here for a couple of nights to start off our Italian holiday and were pleasantly surprised. It's really near some great shops and the bus stop to the airport is just outside. It's a short walk to the funiculor up to the old town. We had breakfast included and it was great. The staff were fabulous. We had a lovely little balcony which is a great suntrap. Free water in the minibar was a great help. The free wifi worked really well. I would stay here again!

"Good location to explore"
letter1, 17 Avril 2017

Well located on the bus line from the airport ( €2.30 and 20 minutes) and five minutes walk from the funicular railway. We had a courtyard facing room which was quiet and our kids had the room facing to the street which was noisier. The hotel is slightly dated in that charming Italian way but the staff are pleasant and helpful. No bar and non-functioning air-con bring this to three stars from four. Wi-fi is ok could be stronger. Head up to the Alta Citta for a perfect lunch or dinner location. Breakfast was good for €8 per head. They have a self -service juicer which was great.Would stay again if the air-con was working properly.

"Very nice place, nice staff and nice price!"
max_patrick, 10 Avril 2017

The hotel is nice and clean, and on a modern theme. It is quiet at least on the courtyard side, and beds are comfortable. Reception staff are very friendly. There is a free-to-use computer for internet. Location very suitable. A short bus ride to the funicular (funicular is same price with or without the bus ride!). Near a lot of shopping streets which are better than you would expect for a smaller city. Near a supermarket.

"Nice place"
tiiterr, 29 Mars 2017

We stayed at this hotel only for 1 night thanks to fact that there is a airport for Ryanair flights and we had to spend one night in Bergamo between the 2 flights. I have only good memories from Best Western hotels and I had not to disappoint this time too. Very good location between the airport and old town, near to bus stop. Room was quite tight, but normal for one-night-stay. Cozy bed and well equipped bathroom. We paid €8 for the breakfast and it was worth it. There is also free wi-fi in rooms and it worked very well.

"Nice batroom. Diner left disapointed..."

Batroom and room liked very much. Very clean and well and regulary kept up. Location very good. Transport options very good at this place. Since the hotels diners options left disapoonted (also vhen tryed) had to search for options near by, lucaly near by there are lot of good locations to eat.

"Little improvement since April 2015"
jmac13746, 18 Février 2017

A review dated 7th April 2015 comments on the poor standard of the breakfast. We can add little to Scott S review, other than to confirm it was just as poor. The room we had was overly warm as the Air Con switch was faulty. 20 euros to park overnight is a bit steep. All in all they (the management) could do a lot better. We shall avoid in the future. On a positive note the staff we polite and helpful

"A great place to stay in beautiful Bergamo!"
22polly22, 16 Janvier 2017

This hotel is well located in an attractive part of the new town and looks straight up to the beautiful old town. It is a great location as it is next to the bus stop for the airport (only 2 euros) as well as a short walk to the funicular which takes you to the magical old town. The beds were comfortable, it was quiet (apart from the heater in our room 449 which was making some water sounds - we did inform management) and the breakfast was fantastic. There are some lovely restaurants nearby and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We adored Bergamo and this was a fantastic place to stay for a comfortable weekend.

"Good Location, clean hotel"
Jaisz_Travelling, 14 Novembre 2016

Stayed for two nights, in family room. Hotel was clean and in quite good shape. Breakfast was nice, the pastries, croissants, meats and cheeses were very nice. The cooked breakfast was average at best ( I usually prefer the hot breakfast ). Greasy bacon and not nice eggs Ect.. If you avoid the hot food the quality was top notch. Their juices were fresh with a juicer available to make your own which quite a few people did. It's a great location 15 min from the train station. 15 minute stroll to the Funicolare Citta' Alta which takes you up to the old walled city. 5 minutes walk to the shopping streets below the old city. It really is an excellent location. Parking available for 15 euro with in/out privileges. Its locate 100m from the entrance of the hotel, secured with an outer door. We booked a triple, the room was a good size with a single bed and two doubles together so seemed like a king. Bathroom was clean, shower was a bit small but quite usable. The room seemed very warm but the window opened easily and had a barrier for the children so it worked fine. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay at this hotel again. I would say it's close to a good value but it was a little on the expensive side for the experience.

"Good stop in Bergamo"
RealHoltyboy, 13 Novembre 2016

After a shaky start in that they only appeared to have a reservation for two rooms rather than three although fortunately the front desk soon sorted the problem. The room was clean and plenty big enough for our one night stay. Breakfast was good and overall the room price was good value. Easy walk from the railway station (where the airport bus drops you off) and a fifteen minute walk from the funicular into the old town.

"Modern convenience in an old city"
Michael W, 07 Novembre 2016

Not far from Milan and perhaps often over looked, Bergamo is a charming city and the view of the old town is a look right from any of the front windows of this hotel. The bus stop to take you to the old city on the hill or to the funicular is directly across the street and a 15 minute ride. The train station is less than a mile on the same street and easily within walking distance. Rooms are modern and would sure satisfy the business or leisure travel both whom we observed when there. The breakfast had everything you could want both cold and hot entrees and were replenished as needed but better paid at check in for a lower rate then after.

"Nice Hotel in the Centre"
Peter B, 04 Novembre 2016

Location is the best thing about this Hotel. From Bergamo airport it is a short drive by the airport bus , one of the stops being in front of the Best Western. The room was comfortable and very clean with a nice view of the street. Breakfast in the nicely set room was more than adequate. Reception and staff were excellent throughout and check in and out were professionally carried out. I do not think there were any things we did not like.

"Very old and sometime cold hotel"
Gombperec , 29 Octobre 2016

We booked and prepaid a 'de luxe' room and got a small one with a very small bathroom /with poor quality toiletries/. The heating worked only periodically: it's not funny in october... Breakfast is ok, there was also a tea- and coffee-maker in the room. The location is very good: near to the bus stop (to the Alta Citta and airport), the walking streets, lots of restaurants and pasticcerias. It would be nice a better view from the rooms.

"Good all round hotel"
avhsci, 28 Octobre 2016

Safe bet, excellently situated in centre of lower town, with bus stop outside on route to airport. Not much local character, but you're not looking for that with Best Western. Clean, well run, helpful staff when asked. WiFi works well, as does everything else. Breakfast high quality and varied, including scrambled eggs and bacon for fellow Brits! Several superb restaurants within very short walk.

"Great base for short break in Bergamo"
AnotherIdiotAbroad, 28 Octobre 2016

We are indebted to other contributors here for guiding us to select this wonderful hotel as our base for our short holiday in Bergamo. I confidently recommend it to others who read my review. Our room at the front of the hotel was modern, large and well equipped. It was scrupulously clean. Continental breakfasts were lovely. Staff throughout the hotel (reception, breakfast, room cleaning) were welcoming, helpful and pleasant. The bus from/to the airport stops outside the hotel and if you're taking a day trip to Milan take the train - the station is a 5 minute walk away.

"Returning again"
minto2015, 27 Octobre 2016

Going back to Bergamo again in November for the Christmas market and spending a couple of nights in the Cappello d'Oro. This is a lovely hotel with a friendly staff and atmosphere. This will be our fifth stay. It is conveniently situated at the base of the Citta Alta ,quite close to the funicular railway. The airport bus stops right outside and is the easiest way to get about. The hotel is easy walking to the main bus and train stations. The breakfasts are really good and the restaurant is open in the evenings for dinner. The small bar is handy for an apperativ or a night cap but opening times are a bit hit and miss. We have stayed here in the summer and the winter months.

"Friendly hotel in excellent location ideal for sightseeing, shopping and going on daytrips."
jaipur08, 10 Octobre 2016

I stayed in Best Western Capello D'oro recently on a 2-night break in Bergamo. I was travelling solo and wanted to spend my first day at Lake Como and my 2nd day exploring both Upper and Lower parts of the city. I couldn't have picked a better location, ideal for public transportation to the train station and to the Old City. The bus stops outside the hotel. Shopping areas are located nearby. The staff are very helpful and very friendly. A variety of food comparable to other hotels in the price range is offered for breakfast . WiFi excellent and best hotel hairdryer that I've seen in ages. There was no noise disturbance even on the Friday night. Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided in the room which included a range of teas as well as decaf and regular instant coffee. Although the view from my room was onto the backs of other buildings and my single room was the smallest room I've ever slept in I would stay in Capello D'oro again if I was on a short trip to Bergamo. Good value for money.

"Great hotel !"
DublinKaren, 09 Octobre 2016

We stayed here for one night at the start of our trip. It was so convenient to airport and the room was lovely and big. Check in was simple and even though we were early they allowed us our room as it was ready. The location was perfect to everything, the bus stopped outside the door, the train station was 5 minute walk and we were central to shops and a great restaurant across the street. Finding the old city was so easy and it was really beautiful. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again for more then one night. Also staff were really helpful and nice.

" Cheeky upgrade "
neill1201, 05 Octobre 2016

Got a cheeky upgrade to a small suite which was nice. Clean room comfortable bed super jacuzzi bath and shower. Reception staff really efficient no fussing with paperwork etc. Very nice pizza place around the corner too. See my other review

"Very good "
gregmaestros, 29 Septembre 2016

A 4 star hotel as expected! Nice and big room with spacious bathroom, lots of towels and cozy. Staff ready to answer questions about the sightseeing and traffic. Located in a very very good position with busses outside going to airport etc!

"Good Hotel in centrum Bergamo"
Ales P, 22 Septembre 2016

Very good place in centrum Bergamo. Room and bathroom both well equipped and clean. Breakfast was rich and perfect fresch jujce - selfservice - nice idea! The check out is possible about midday. We reccomended this hotel.

"Decent"
lenrichman, 14 Septembre 2016

Pros; - Clean - Decent breakfast - Comfy bed - Good location for the station - Friendly staff Cons; - You need the skills of a safe cracker to get the temperature right for the shower and even then the temperature fluctuates constantly - Shower drained so slowly you started in the shower and finished standing in a half full bath - The most soulless hotel bar I've ever been in - A 25 - 30 min walk to the upper town (quicker and easier if you use the funicular) so a compromise between being near there or the station - Neighbouring bathroom basically an echo chamber which could be heard clearly in my room

"Great Stay"
Hall19617, 13 Septembre 2016

The hotel was ideal for exploring the wonderful city for 2 nights, the room was quite as we stayed at the back of the hotel the breakfast was great staff were so helpful The bus stops right out side the hotel to take you up to the old town and to go to the airport Can not fault it

"Avoid in summer with poor A/C"
KLPMilwaukee_WI, 29 Août 2016

We stayed here for four nights at the end of June 2016. On the plus side, the hotel has a nice location in Bergamo, with a short walk to both the furnicular and train station. The staff gave us a map and some good directions on how to explore the upper city. Unfortunately, we had a miserable stay due to the poor air conditioning and lack of appropriate response by the hotel. The hotel is advertised as having air-conditioning and fans available on request. Our room (#373) did not have a properly functioning air conditioner. The lowest the room got was 26.1 C (79 F) and the highest was 27.5 C (81.5 F). The outside air temperature at the time ranged from 22-30 C (70-85 F). The difference between the outside and inside air was barely noticeable. The stuffy, warm room was unacceptable and resulted in very poor night's sleep. To remedy the situation, we notified front desk staff no less than four times that it was not working properly. Each time, a maintenance person looked at the air conditioner but did nothing to fix it. Then, we requested to change rooms but were denied as the hotel was full. After that, we requested a fan (as written materials stated that they were available on request) but the hotel could not provide any for the 4 nights we stayed as they said there was none available. The hotel recommended that we open a window but there was no air flow as our room was located on the inner wall of an enclosed courtyard. The hotel was apparently full the first two nights of our stay and when we were finally offered a different room, it was no better than the first and faced a noisy street. Other people at the breakfast also commented how stuffy their room was, so it appears to be a problem with several of the hotel rooms. The lobby was sufficiently air-conditioned however. We realize Europeans do not use as much a/c as Americans but this was not a problem at any of the other hotels we stayed at in Italy for the next 2 weeks. I wrote this review as I feel like I had to warn other travelers about staying at this hotel in summer. Back at home, Best Western corporate remedied the situation but I would not stay here again.

"Great hotel in great location"
Nick P, 13 Août 2016

The hotel is perfectly located at the half way point between the train station and the funicular to city Alta. It's a short 10minute walk to each from the hotel. Our family of 5 was accommodated in two rooms located next to each other. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds extremely comfortable. Front desk staff friendly and accommodating.

"comfortable Hotel in convenient location"
Lorrainezzzzzz, 13 Août 2016

Stayed here for 4 nights in June prior to visiting Lake Garda. The rooms are clean and reasonably spacious but bathroom quite tight. Great aperitifo snacks, highly recommended. Breakfast is adequate with reasonable selEction at buffet. Hotel is in great location for exploring lower and upper Bergamo. Staff all very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again if visiting Bergamo.

"Best Western Capello de'oro"
Marta C, 12 Août 2016

This hotel is conveniently located close to the old city. approximately 10-minute walk to funicular. Was not able to get parking at the hotel but found one 5 euros cheaper a block away. make sure you clarify the price for breakfast and try to book it at that time as the price was different than what I was told. The staff was great and did solve my problem. The beds were comfortable and breakfast had a variety to choose from.

"Good hotel in great location, great breakfast, kind service"
jmeyerdo, 01 Août 2016

Great hotel inmidst (lower) city of Bergamo! I was invited there by friends and location, facilities, breakfast and service were great! The room was small but clean and good equipped (LCD-TV, minibar, boiler with tea/coffee, ...). The breakfast was very good: cereals with fruits and joghurt, countless cakes/sweets, fried eggs/eggs/baked beans, cheese and ham, different breads, specialities for children... One of the best breakfasts I had in Italian hotels until now. The service was very kind! Free WLAN was good also.

"Good location"
Heli K, 25 Juillet 2016

Stayed one night in Bergamo after one week's holiday in Lake Garda area. Hotel was clean and our room was quite big to be Italian hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our flight left so early that we did not have a chance to have breakfast. Hotel is situated next to the bus station where the busses from airport come. If you arrive by your own car, it is little bit difficult to find a place were stop and park and get you luggage out and to hotel.... But even there was nothing wrong with this hotel, for such a short I wish we had chosen to stay in the old town - it is the most interesting part of this city.

"Small but clean room"
rambunctiousrb, 21 Juillet 2016

This was our first stop during a three week tour of Norhtern Italy. We arrived at Bergamo airport and just wanted one night to chill before travelling around. This hotel was ok for a stop over but definitely wouldn't of wanted to stay here for much longer. On arrival we parked directly outside (in bus stop) and unloaded bags etc. A porter then accompanied me to a private garage they have at the rear of the building to park our hire car. The porter was friendly and helpful and spoke good English. I asked where was good to eat and he recommended a couple of places and told me where we should visit in Bergamo. The room itself was clean but was smaller than I expected. It did feel a little dark and dingy though and didn't have a 'nice feel.' The bathroom was again clean and tidy and I couldn't really fault it other than its relatively small size. Overall an 'ok' stay for a night or two but definitely wouldn't recommend spending long here.

"Good old fashioned quality hotel"
chush, 21 Juillet 2016

The hotel's location is ideal. It takes about 7 minutes to walk in straight line to a cable car station and 5 minutes max to the main train station. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. They serve a decent buffet breakfast. The only negative comment I can make is about their shower because there is only an overhead shower in the bathroom, and it was not very convenient. WiFi was good. The room is very, very quiet at night time as you are sleeping somewhere deep in the countryside.

"Right in the middle of town"
Msquita, 20 Juillet 2016

Stayed at this hotel for three nights while visiting a girl friend who came to stay with us in California as a foreign Exchange student in 1984. The hotel had a great breakfast even had scramble eggs. Is centrally located and lots of shopping close by. The staff was very friendly. Rooms were small but very clean. I would stay here again.

"Good hotel in an excellent location"
keysys, 11 Juillet 2016

Old fashioned elegance but friendly. Stayed for 3 nights - the staff were very friendly, location great for visiting the upper historic town, room very good - would stay again if in this interesting town

"Perfect location, friendly staff"
suzysue13, 06 Juillet 2016

We stayed here as a group of 4 ladies, 2 rooms Close together on second floor. Our view was overlooking the main st & not really noisy at all. The room was good, beds were comfortable & it was cleaned daily with bedding also changed daily. Bathroom was a good size but had a tiny shower cubicle in the corner?? There wasn't much shelf space to put toiletries etc either. It's about a 3 minute walk from the train station, the airport bus (no 1) stood directly outside for both directions & the funicular to the old town is around 5 minutes walk. The town centre is very handy too with a selection of bars & cafes. All in all, good value & quality. We will return!!

"Nice Hotel in Bergamo Italy city center"
Christopher A, 05 Juillet 2016

Very professional and courteous staff. Great location in city center Comfortable rooms. Parking is limited and moderately accessible 2 single beds kind of stiff mattress Internet speed was slow A/C was not up to the task in summer heat

"Excellent value and location"
ncea, 22 Juin 2016

We chose this hotel for its location. We were surprised by the excellent service, friendliness of the staff and the excellent value. Large rooms and an updated hotel. We liked its proximity to excellent pastry and baking shops. Parking was an added feature. We were able to walk to old town and take the funicular both ways.

"Excellent"
oflutraveller, 13 Juin 2016

Normally I do my comments after checking out !!! But starting from a very warm Wellcome , very fast and comfortable check in, very nice , clean and big for european standards room!!! So far so nice , i will suggest hardly to try if you are around the area!!! Location is also perfect!!

"Great Location,hidden fees "
Cristina L, 29 Mai 2016

The hotel Is in a great Location walking distance to the old Town. I had a problem with the hotel since they force me to pay the city tax for my 2 yrs old even when the government clearly states that children under 6yrs Dont pay. I had a very long discussion about this with the front desk employees forcing me to pay an unfair fee. The amenities are ok however everything is extra charge (Gym, crib, parking, etc.) The service and kindness of employees was below average. Is ok for one night, no more than that or you will feel cheated given the quantity of extras they charge to you in every single opportunity they see.

"Second Visit"
lindyloocardiff, 13 Mai 2016

Our second stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, being a short walk from train and bus station. Airport bus stop 2mins away. Close to shops and restaurants and also old town. Very comfortable hotel with very good service. Would definitely recommend.

"Average hotel for fair value, with some improvement areas"
Pepoque D, 08 Mai 2016

The accommodation during our spontaneous trip to Bergamo was the BW Premier Capello d'Oro - we booked it a week in advance based on the overall positive ratings and without spendng too much time reading reviews in detail. If we had, we definitely would have given it second thoughts and might even ended up with another hotel. Not to say it was a bad experience, but just.. nothing special. The positives - Overall room rate/value was fair. - Free wi-fi and Playstation available. - The size of our room (no. 149) was quite spacious (which was a plus considering we have a small boy who needs his space for playing with his toys) - The location of the hotel doesn't get more central: you're literally right in the bustling heart of Bergamo, with the main shopping street right around the corner and the street in front of the hotel basically giving you direct access to the old town and the main station. - Big bus stop right in front of hotel, making it easy to hop on and explore the city with public transportation. 24-hour ticket is only EUR 3.50 and can be bought at ATB across the street. - The bathroom, although small and outdated, was equipped with an excellent, powerful shower with full temp range - something that can either really wake you up in the morning or relax in the evening. - Some of the staff were really friendly and helpful (esp. the ladies serving the breakfast and bar). The negatives: - The hotel and rooms felt pretty outdated and in dire need of some renovation. Others already mentioned this and I can wholeheartedly concur. - Room sound isolation is poor, both internally and externally. Guests walking on the floor above us could be heard easily, as well as hotelroom doors opening and closing. Regarding external isolation, although the location is very central, it's also bustling and loud. Especially on Saturday night where excited teens, drunken clubbers, revving streetcars and noisy scooters can be heard throughout the entire night. - Breakfast was pretty run-of-the-mill standard average, with most of it gone and not re-stocked/filled 30 mins before closing. - Mattresses were too soft for my taste. Also the 3-layered blanket approach (i.e. 3 thin sheets on top of each other, to allow you to deal with the temp) drove me nuts, as I tend to move around during my sleep. - Some of the staff (even hotel manager, guy in suit?) were rather rude and didn't seem too interested in customer satisfaction. - Finally I'm not a big fan of the whole 'diarrhea-colored fake wood with fake gold-plated ornaments' concept that supposedly gives Best Western its charm, but to each his own I suppose :) Note for people driving their own car: Accessibility is something to be aware of. The hotel is right on the main road, and there's no parking area in front of it. We had to drive around twice - Bergamo's one-direction side streets made it frustrating to finally get there. Instead, just use the bus stop for quick unloading (5 mins are alllowed). Also, the hotel has a private garage, but it was full when we arrived and also supposedly too small for our SUV. We had to park in the city's central parking which was cheaper, but a bit further and also veeeery tight to get in and out... Verdict: Overall room rate is fair and location is great if you accept the trade-offs. For a special couple/family weekend aimed at a bit more quality and comfort you might want to reconsider and go for something else.

"Excellent return to Bergamo"
farthews, 06 Mai 2016

My friend and I stayed at the hotel in 2012 and I also stayed here with my husband and friends in 2014. On this visit we decided to book a deluxe twin room and we weren't disappointed! All the deluxe rooms are on the front of the hotel and we did wonder about this as we knew the road outside was a busy one. We needn't have worried as the double glazing was very efficient , plus we had a view of the magnificent ' Citta Alta ' when we leant out of the window. Our room and bathroom were kept immaculately clean and well stocked and the friendly staff at reception were always available when needed. There was a good selection on offer at breakfast with several juices, cereals, continental and cooked items plus some rather delicious sweet cakes and pastries. There are also two coffee/ tea machines plus you can order specialty coffees from the waiters.

"Great Location"
Kingston1Devon, 09 Avril 2016

We booked this hotel for our weekend stay for the F1 Italian Grand Prix 2015. Centrally located Hotel in Bergamo. We had read a review about staying in Bergamo, so pleased we read the review the queues for the trains back to Bergamo were so much quieter then trains to Milan. You can catch a bus from Bergamo Airport which will drop you straight outside the hotel, also you can take the bus back to Bergamo Airport from outside the hotel. This hotel is perfect for you to look around the modern shops and restaurants of Bergamo but also walking distance to the tram which will take you into the Old Town of Bergamo. Definitely recommend going into Old Town it is beautiful. 10 minute walk to the train station for the trains to Monza. We visited the local restaurants near the hotel in the evening. Hotel was clean, beds comfortable, breakfast was buffet style, friendly staff, fantastic hotel in great location.

"Great staff"
Rickytrips1234, 01 Avril 2016

We often come here for a few days shopping as its so easy We booked a room and when we arrived they informed us that they had upgraded us to a suite with jacuzzi and living room area. Robes and slippers were also included with a large bed this just added to a great short break and we are looking forward to our next visit

"Centrally located, but need Some renovation"
Moniquemp73, 28 Mars 2016

The hotel is very easy to reach via the airport bus (number 1a) and is located very central nearby à lot of restaurants. Rooms are very oldfashioned and small and really do need à renovation. The bed is very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. Breakfast is excellent with à lot of variety. Staff is very friendly.

"Good hotel but nothing magic"
Daniele_1970, 15 Mars 2016

The hotel is a good one even if rooms, and their bathrooms, are a but outdated but anyway clean. Location is anyway very convenient and the car parking is just 20meters from hotel entrance. Breakfast could be improved as selection is very limited.

"Best breakfast "
465gabrieleg, 13 Mars 2016

Excellent breakfast, staff was very friendly and Marialuisa was outstanding. Location is superb, my room had a balcony and the view on the old city is magical. I will come back again for my next visit. It's very easy to reach from the airport and close to rail station

"Good Value"

Pleasant and close to RR. Balconies some rooms. Staff great. Lower City - but bus to upper across street 2 Euro. Sauna in basement. Not sure if hotel serves dinner any more Shopping good nearby and restaurant Biif (Beef)

"best location for business travelers"
Dudi213, 26 Février 2016

All that is needed for business travelers. located in the city center, parking, quite, clean & very friendly staff. they have a good restaurant and the hotel is very close to the shooping centers of the city and 10 min walk from the old city - the major turistic attraction.

"Easy to do on your own"
Cathy O, 15 Février 2016

From the landing was my visit to Bergamo simple. Buy a 2 or 3 day travel ticket in the airport information. €7 for 3 days. This allows you unlimited access on colour co-ordinated buses and finiculare in Bergamo, including the airport shuttle. The train to Milan €6 single. If you're going to alight in Garabaldi or Central the train back to Bergamo may pass different stations on the return journey. Ca. 45 minute trip. If you have only a day to spare skip Milan. The Citta Alta (old city) is so beautiful. Blue Bus 1. About 1.5 kms from the centre. The finicular (station at base of the hill/bus stops here too.) goes to and from the center of the old city. Coin is one of the many shops. Carrefour is found in the basement for grabbing a quick snack.

"Great Hotel"
MLBPDX, 29 Janvier 2016

This is a great hotel! Location is perfect for getting around in Bergamo. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Located next door to a wonderful bakery and many place to eat. Room was nice and good internet.

"Great location and Great Service"
Antoinette S, 06 Janvier 2016

This hotel was clean and located in a very accessible spot in Bergamo. The Internet service was spotty, but we were told they were working on it and would be fixed they week after we were there. I would recommend you ask for a room facing the back of the hotel as the traffic on the street and the street cleaner cause early morning noise. The Church bells didn't help either! None of these issues were within the control of the hotel. The staff speak enough English to help. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. We would stay again when in the area. The price was reasonable.

"Lovely hotel, close to the station"
Lovefoodandculture, 30 Décembre 2015

This is a very nice hotel, about 400m from the train station. It has very nice, helpful staff and breakfast was good. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The sitting area downstairs was good. Would very happily use again.

"Basic hotel, good staff but dated rooms"
Lovetotravel6365, 22 Décembre 2015

This is a basic hotel in a good location with good staff. Rooms are small and need updating. We stayed here for one night en route to Lake Como. Staff at front desk are helpful. Clean rooms but dated. Short walk to the funicular and train station.

"Decent Hotel, Excellent Location”"
sanyALGER, 20 Décembre 2015

Adored my 3 nights stay in Bergamo. This hotel is perfectly positioned in the centre, walking distance from practically everything. As others have said, we could easily walk to all areas of town from the hotel and there were many restaurants within just a block or two. The room is normal furnishing but it works. Definitely its own personality. While you're there, take advantage of the buffet breakfast with its delicious drinks and food – one of the best hotel breakfast we had in Europe. Unlike some larger hotel chains, this is a great choice for an intimate and fun few nights in Bergamo. Service was excellent here from the front desk to the dining to the housekeeping. No complaints, lovely time.

"Normal Decent Hotel"
Lorna J, 16 Décembre 2015

Stopped here for one night before proceeding to Bolzano, moderate hotel, clean with all the facilities required for a stop over. The pillow menu was a very nice bonus. Unfortunately the receptionist who checked us in was quite unfriendly and unhelpful who only gave us the key to the room and nothing else, however the day receptionists made up for it because they were really helpful in all that we asked. Conveniently located close to the Train Station and easy to find.

"Great central location in this old town"
Rickytrips1234, 16 Décembre 2015

This is a nice little town close to Milan city by train The hotel has lots to offer with busses passing outside all around old and new town. Only a short cab ride from the airport with great food and shops Make the effort to go up to the top of the old town for great views and lovely food

"Not a best western "premier" just a normal one but more expensieve "
Wim P, 15 Décembre 2015

- i have stayed in better hotels near by price quality.... - Location is ok - Staff at the reception could be allot more friendly ! - poor gym (no water / very noisy machines / very limited gym..) - sauna was not Active and not enough towels present !? - breakfast was ok - as platinum member i received a free drink at the bar ... This was the worst bar ever ! I even did not take my free drink because this was the most uncomfortable bar ever as it was just a few tables and absolutely no atmosphere... - the room was "poor", a small shower very hard bed, allot of noise ! And even when it was 5 degrees outside it was terrible hot inside the room, i had to sleep with the window open ! It was like sleeping on the road with all the noise! - tv was poor only 1 English channel ! Cnn and the tv was not able to show the full screen ?! I have stayed allot at many different best western hotels (platinum member) all over the world and this hotel is going to be added to my worst 3 ever ...

"Very comfortable and good location"

This is a traditional city centre hotel. It has a very grand entrance lobby and you feel safe as soon as you enter. I had a very nice room; not huge, but it had everything I needed. The wifi signal was good. The bed was comfortable and I got a decent sleep. Breakfast was an extensive buffet with some hot choices. Reception staff were professional and helpful. It has a good location in the centre of the 'lower town'. There's lots of shops and restaurants nearby - La Bruschetta, a few doors down the main street, is a good choice for an evening meal. The train station is 5-10 minutes walk on the flat, and the airport bus stop is right outside the hotel. You can buy a ticket for the airport bus at the reception desk.

"Well kept clean hotel"

Stayed for 2 nights while on a business trip. Good clean hotel although the rooms were a little warm. Good selection at breakfast I would stay there again. Good location and there is parking available at the rear of the hotel at a reasonable cost.

"Good Value"
TravelALot1061, 08 Novembre 2015

Hotel is centrally located in Bergamo, staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were fast, room did have a decent size, clean, AC, flat screen TV etc. WIFI was complimentary, but partly slow. Breakfast was buffet form with a nice choice, food of good quality. For the room rate very good value.

"Good hotel in great location."

Best thing about the hotel is its location, half way between the funicular to Città Alta and the station. Rooms are small but spotlessly clean. Bar only opens from 6-10 pm and lacks atmosphere. Bus to and from the airport stops right outside the door. There are lots of good restaurants and a few bars nearby.

"very nice!"

very centrally located, the hotel is close to the funicolare. difficult to park nearby unless you pay. THe rooms are spacious the breakfast is nice with decent choice of salty and sweet food. room was clean and quiet despite the hotel is located on a central street. The staff is nice and there's free wifi in the lobby and the rooms. Definitely to be recommended. I will stay here again when I come to Bergamo.

"Highly recommended for a comfortable stay."

We used this hotel for four nights. It is very clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, particularly the gentleman who appears to be in charge in the restaurant. The breakfast was more than adequate. The staff on the reception desk were also helpful and courteous. The hotel is in a very central position and the bus for the airport stops just outside of the hotel. It is a short walk to the station. A regular train takes 45 minutes to reach Lake Como. There are numerous restaurants in the area. I cannot fault this hotel. It offers excellent value for money for a short break.

"Great location"

Good standard for an Italian hotel, close to the railway station and a few steps from the airport bus stop. The main shopping area is nearby and there is a big selection of restaurants and wine bars close by, notably Mille Storie Sapori which is just a few steps away - ideal for a glass of Prosecco and some cicchetti. Our hotel room was well appointed and comfortable but small with a good bathroom. Unfortunately there was a slightly offensive smell that hung about the room during our stay which disappeared after the aircon had been on for a few minutes. We particularly appreciated the choice of pillows which certainly helped to make sleeping a comfortable experience. The breakfast was tasty and varied. We would stay again - but probably in a different room.

"Great location"

That hotel has a great location. They offer a good breakfast also. The room is not so big but it is acceptable for the business trip. They have a small gym which do the job. The service is good also. The parking is not free but it is quiet easy to find a parking after 7PM. Be careful, most of the parkometer around that hotel is for one hour maximum from 9AM to 7PM.

"Wonderful view outside the hotel"
MrNicTan, 25 Septembre 2015

This hotel has an absolutely gorgeous view outside. Carrefour supermarket is just 5mins walk away. Just turn left upon exiting the hotel. Inside the hotel the staff are friendly and speak English. You can ask for a shaver/toothbrush at the reception as its not found in the room.

"Excellently located"
ViaggiatoreAustralia, 15 Septembre 2015

Good location. It is very close to the train station and within walking distance to the funicular station. There are also good shopping areas near the hotel, with interesting shops, cafes and restaurants.

"Good Location, Funky Parking"
RetiredDude, 11 Septembre 2015

We launched off for a trip through northern Italy lake region from Bergamo. The hotel was clean and nicely appointed, located midway between the rail station and the upper town and on a street with lots of places to have a coffee or gelato. Good breakfast too. The staff was friendly. There is also parking that is a bit of an adventure itself. You go around the side to a separate entrance and .... Safe and secure.

"Very Good Hotel a Quick Walk from Train Station"
Debbie K, 03 Septembre 2015

This is a very good hotel that is an easy walk from the Bergamo Train Station. The location on the main drag in the newer part of town is quite convenient. The facility is nice, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast is quite adequate and the room rate is fair. I am generally rather happy to try Best Westerns as I am a BW Rewards Platinum Member. I find that the BW brand in Europe is more reliably consistent compared to the US. On this occasion, I had business in Bergamo and needed a spot that was convenient for my distributor to pick me up. This place served that purpose and it was a bonus that we were able to walk to this hotel from the Train Station after arrival from Milan. I was also attracted by the reasonable room rate offered. The ten minute stroll from the station was relatively easy as it was straight down the main drag. It was doable even with being moderately loaded down with bags. The hotel exterior was nice enough and the lobby area was spacious and welcoming with a slight nostalgic feel. We were greeted by a friendly front desk agent who assigned us a room on the second level. We were quite happy with this as it was relatively easy to reach. Upon entering, we were well pleased with our room. It was very spacious with lovely furnishings. The work area was more than adequate and the sofa was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and the surroundings quiet allowing us to get good sleep during our stay. The amenities were in working order and the WiFi functioned reasonably well. The morning breakfast was included with our room rate and was relatively nice. There were a few hot dishes along with the typical array of cold items such as yogurt, fruit, breads, cheeses and cereal. I was satisfied with my morning meal both times we dined there. The cost was fairly reasonable for what we received. Our rate was €130.50 with €7 city tax. This was a pretty good deal from my point of view. Overall, this is a very good hotel in a convenient location that is walkable from the train station. The facility is somewhat nostalgic and the rooms are quite comfortable and functional. They present a good buffet at morning breakfast. The room rate is relatively fair for what you receive making this a pretty good deal. If you have business in Bergamo, I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment as a place to base yourself.
