We stayed at this hotel on October 19, 2024 while visiting Bennington. Soon after checking in, we discovered the wi-fi in our room didn't work. We could not watch television or use our cellphones. We notified the front desk and the problem was not fixed during our stay. The food at breakfast was mediocre at best. The omelets were semi-frozen. We have stayed at numerous Best Westerns and have never had a problem before. We would never stay here again.
Have been staying here annually in the Fall. As we travelled through to Maine. About 8 years or so ago, noticed a steady decline in the state/service of this place. When I checked-in, they told me I wasn't getting the room I'd asked for because it wasn't cleaned yet (after we came back from dinner, saw it was occupied - they'd obviously given it away before we arrived. Our room was shabby, shower curtain dipped, shower curtain rod bent down, air conditioner filter plugged. Room was dry as a bone and in the morning we felt unwell. Went for “breakfast” - choices were limited or shelves empty, no milk or cream, just powdered chemical whiteners. I've given this place many chances to redeem itself, but I'm done. Never returning!
No, they were not fluffy. It seems like they threw some paint on walls, did a cheap job at remodeling and still charge like it is new. Do not recommend. Had to change rooms 3 times, bathtub clogged in first one, microwave did not work in second one, finally the third room was ok. This was after a long day of traveling. The guy at desk was apologetic and moved us. Felt bad for him, but he works for a not good hotel. I will never stay in a Best Western again. Price was about 260.00 to start, he did give us a 15% discount, big savings. We landed there about 7pm, after moving twice, finally in bed at 9, out of there about 730. Breakfast was not good either.
Most rundown cheap motel with room door opens to the street , drains clogged , bugs on the wall , musty odor , hot breakfast was a joke with most items listed were missing , old tired window unit ac made a lot of noise but didn't work much or remove the dingy odor . Worst hotel sorry motel I have ever stayed yet paid $360 a night
Room we stayed in was in desperate need of repairs and refurbishment. Floor vinyl covering was torn and exposed the dirty underfloor. Bath drain was backing up. Reported the drain issue to front desk - no-one was available to perform a simple cleaning procedure. Not worth the money, and not up to typical Best Western standards.
The staff was friendly and offered a list of restaurants in the surrounding area, fresh hot breakfast with fresh coffee, clean and spacious room. Easy access to Appalachian trail. Good eats at local restaurants. Short drive to downtown Bennington.
We love going to Vermont and stayed at the Best Western as our go to motel was not available. I messed up the reservations but rather than saying oh well , the front desk clerk worked with me to get a room at a fair price so as not to ruin our vacation. The room was spacious, clean with all the amenities we needed, and we would enjoy staying there again
Worst Best Western I've ever been in. On a positive note, I will say the desk clerk was above average. I wouldn't get in the bathtub because of the brown stains and I don't know what else.. Room had a smell. AC was a windows type unit that was extremely loud. Steps to the 2nd floor and the 2nd floor deck were in need of serious repair. Breakfast quality was marginal at best.
I was happy for the familiar feel of Best Western. As always it was clean and comfortable. Location was easily accessible. Service was good. It did provide a breakfast- no "bread" choices if you're gluten free. No challenges with our stay here.
Quick summary: Clean, quiet room. Wifi worked well, but many power outlets in the room did not. Complimentary breakfast was only okay. We have stayed here in the past while on our regular road trips to visit the family. Room 177 had two queen beds, good linens, and nice assortment of pillows. It is quiet and comfortable, with many of the amenities we expect of a BW property: fridge, microwave, coffee/tea maker, chest of drawers, good sitting chair, roomy desk and ergo chair, iron/board, room safe. Good TV, but it would be nice to have a printed guide so that you don't have to scroll through to find the stations you are interested in. This room looks out to a nice wooded area. We had some issues during this stay. None of the power outlets worked at the desk. So, I moved the coffee maker to the nightstand, where only one of two outlets worked. (try dealing with that when trying to power up your cellphones, ipads, etc.) The bed is comfortable with a nice assortment of pillows. However, in mid July, you don't need the duvet unless you really crank up the AC. Basic sheets and a light blanket would have been more comfortable. (We took the padded filler out of the cover, which made for a lighter cover at night.) To the good: the wifi and HVAC worked well. Weak cell signal, but that's Bennington. Tub/shower combo worked well. Shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion are provided. Excellent housekeeping. Pretty good breakfast, but some room for improvement. Fried eggs and sausage patty at breakfast. Assorted breads for toast, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, cereals. Packaged bakery is hygienic, but basically vending machine quality -- that's too bad as there are many good bakeries in the area. The coffee is nice - strong enough - but one of the half-and-halfs from the fridge curdled in my coffee. Still, I applaud having half-and-half, rather than only having non-dairy creamer. (Take a few for the room.) The breakfast room is nice and sunny, but could use better AC in July. The location is not far from the center of town. A number of restaurants are nearby. Friendly, helpful, professional staff throughout. On-site laundry for guest use. So - we will likely think about this place again in the future, but they didn't live up to expectations this time, and may consider somewhere else next time.
Nice staff, very friendly. However, the property needs some TLC. The rooms need to be cleaned better and items repaired / replaced. Breakfast has the potential to be decent, but was lacking the day we went.
Terrible terrible! Please don't go! The floors were sticky, it smelled like cigarette. There was water damage in the room. The manager called to apologize the next day as we requested multiple times that he calls us back. Didn't get our money back. We had to sleep on top of the sheets because it was nasty! Don't go! Shaddy people are walking around. The manager is no where to be found, even if the staff calls him. Very terrible experience I will never go back!
I am not sure what to say other than this motel has gone completely downhill since last winter. While Steve at the front desk is as amazing as always, the rest of the place leaves little to be desired. The room we stayed in, a King Whirlpool room was clean but was surrounded by homeless people wandering about all night long. There were cigarette butts in the windows and drug deals going on outside of our room. We could hear the tv in the room next to us loudly all night long. We woke up at 6am to go skiing at Mount Snow...So we went to breakfast super early. We were greated in the new breakfast room by an attendant speaking very loudly on his cell phone, on FaceTime. He was wandering around the room asking customers if they speak Spanish. There was no juice, milk, ketchup, water, peanut butter or napkins. There used to be yogurt, muffins and waffles available, Not anymore. The room the breakfast is served in was ungodly hot and disorganized at best. During breakfast, a homeless patron that evidently lives at the motel came in wreaking of cigarette smoke came in to eat also. He was rude, disgruntled, ate whatever bacon was left and was absolutely filthy. While I am a believer in equal opportunity, I was appalled that rooms at this place go for $150-$200 a night and the Best Western is allowing this clientele to muster amongst their paying customers. It's quite disheartening. Not to mention scary. We will not be returning to the Best Western Bennington and I would suggest families with children don't head there either.
Stayed at this hotel last night. Service from employees was great from front desk(Brianna and Monica) to room service (Muriel and Yslene) and breakfast (Stanley) however, it's a hotel for the towns vagrants. Cigarette stains everywhere, everything stank so badly of cigarettes. all of our luggage and clean clothes will need to be cleaned at a dry cleaner just to get the smell out. Burns on everything, bedding, curtains, floors. That's not the room services fault, it's the establishment that allows the government to pay them to enable these drug addicts and vagrants to live high off the hog with total disregard to the other actual paying customers. This is all because they accept subsidized vouchers from the government. Noticed multiple people who were permanent residents of this “hotel” that were not employees, when meals on wheels shows up to your hotel room is probably your home. Being landlords and in real estate ourselves, we've seen a lot, but one walk to your car at night you're going to see a lot more at this place! Witnessed multiple “tenants” using drugs in the parking lot right in the open, and it definitely wasn't Marijuana. People yelling and hollering all hours of the night, cars with loud stereo systems blaring music all hours of the day and night, my husband and I have stayed in hotels in NYC much quieter than there! This Best Western needs a total overhaul & keep all of the current employees because they are the ONLY good thing about this establishment. I will be calling Best Western for a full refund and compensation for all of my luggage that now smells like crack whores and cigarettes. Oh, and the fridge and freezer didn't work causing all of the beverages and food we stored in there to go bad. Unreal. 0/5 stars
Disgusting and repulsive. Stayed 4 nights during the holiday and the manager wasn't there once! Multiple guests informed me they were homeless and placed at bw by the government. Drugs guns fights. 0/10. More than 10 different rooms have homeless guests. Some were nice, others were blatantly dealing and using drugs. Room had used pads in the garbage still!! Next time will check local social media as this bw is blasted on all platforms by residents! How is this happening best western??? Shut this place DOWN
We were charged more for a handicap room with a roll in shower which is a no/no as per the ADA. However, we accepted that because we were able to find a room. Upon entering the room we realized it wasn't a handicap room and called the front desk. They said they saw the notes on our reservation but gave the room to another guest. Due to this and both my husband and I having mobility issues we weren't even able to shower, the only grab bars was on the far wall inside the tub and nothing more. We stopped at the front desk the next morning and spoke to the 2 staff people there, one staying in a chair holding a baby behind the desk and the other came in from smoking in her vehicle and explained to her how to adjust the rate, because they agreed they would give us a 15% discount because of this. When my husband checked out he got a print out which said we paid the higher amount but also on the print out was the cheaper daily rate. We called the hotel when we realized the full amount was pending out of our account and told to call back if it posts. It posted the next day and we called back. We were then told to call after 3pm and speak with the Front Desk Manager who then told me I needed to deal with the General Manager Travis Mears and to do that email him. I emailed him that day, Tuesday, 11/28, waited 3 days with no response and emailed again on Friday, 12/1. He emailed me back later that day he was out of the office and would look into it on Monday, 12/4. Tuesday, 12/5 I emailed again looking for a resolution and nothing. I emailed again today, 12/8 and nothing. Apparently this GM is ignoring us, however, it is totally wrong to charge someone for a Handicap Room and then doesn't adjust the price when they didn't get it.
This room was clean and in a great location. The Walmart, and McDonald's were within walking distance of this motel. The breakfast the following morning was wonderful. Little omelets as well as hard-boiled eggs, bacon and sausage. The entire eating area was well stocked and clean. Overall, our stay was wonderful, with friendly, helpful staff.
We were welcomed by Steve at the front desk. He was extremely helpful and greeted us with hospitality. He recommended some favorite places to go eat. We had a great stay here with great breakfast. Was very pleased.
Only thing that could be improved is a meat option for breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. No issues with my stay. Free bottled water at checkin. Warning-no elevator.
Great location, quiet and private. Super helpful staff. Beth was very kind and accommodating. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will be back in the future.
If traveling to Bennington staying at the Best Western motel would be of the best possible value. The staff is attentive and friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is located conveniently near 279 and route 7 It also is convenient to Old Bennington to Bennington monument New York and Massachusetts
very clean hotel, lovely bathroom. pool was fantastic and very clean. staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good -- tasty and clean with plenty of food. the hotel is centrally located and easy to locate.
I was traveling to see family in the area and couldn't of been happier with my stay here. The front desk manager, Steve was amazing and very informative. Easiest check in that I've ever experienced. Rooms were tidy and smelled clean. Will definitely stay here again
This place was very overpriced and unpleasant. The room we stayed in was way in the back. It appeared that this hotel had long term stay residents. These people lurked around outside all the time and smoked heavily around the non smoking rooms. Some of the people appeared to be of questionable character and just stared at us—kinda creepy. Our room was very dark, so we tried to sit right outside our room but there were so many lurking people and so many bugs that it was impossible. I got bitten on the ankle by something and 3 1/2 weeks later, I'm still dealing with the problem. My husband cut his foot because a rough piece of flooring was broken and he didn't see it in time.
The rooms are big and kept vey clean. And I was most impressed by the front desk manager Steve. He got the keys ready for us before we are at the counter, quickly gave us the essential information with details. And any questions and concerns we had, he was eager to help us resolving them. Would definitely come back again when I am in the area1
Mr. Steve Christman, Front Desk Manager was awesome. All employees and room standards up to snuff. I will return with no concerns. Thanks, everyone! No complaints. Room was clean, bed comfortable, good fridge and microwave.
Steve is very friendly and keeps his job separate from his friendships with customers. Very hard worker and He is best I've seen for staff personnel in long time .All staff are the best and this hotel is the cleanest and very well maintained then any other place I've been in.Anybody needs awesome and if anyone needs a peaceful place to relax come to Best Western in Bennington Vermont. I'm more then pleased.
This is the best stay ever! Steve is the best! He's courteous, kind, sociable, and hardworking. Also all other Staff is very pleasent as well .Thanks.Id recommend it anytime to anyone wondering about a great place to vacation. CHRISTOPHER DYE AND PATRICIA HIGGS
Hotel cost $523 for 3 nights ($174 includes taxes) with an AARP discount. Breakfast on the first day was understocked. The front desk explained that Tuesday was the "truck day." However, we had a great visit with other travelers who were staying here. The double room was comfortable and included amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, free WiFi, and a TV. The property has guest laundry, ice, and an outdoor swimming pool, We stayed on the 2nd floor which has a balcony that is shared with four rooms. There was some drama from one guest that another guest took her table. The guest explained that she has stayed here several times, and there is always 3 tables shared with 4 rooms. I had to go looking for housekeeping because the front desk did not pick up the phone. Housekeeping was super friendly and very helpful getting us additional towels and resetting the TV. I have 2 more days left to finish this review.
Front desk Steve Christman was very efficient, professional and helpful with my room booking. The process was very smooth and my room was very clean, and organized. I'm looking forward to another successful stay at this location.
Our short time at the Best Western in Bennington exceeded expectations. Steve's warm welcome, informative and knowledgeable persona was great!! I wish all service industries understood that the first touch point sets the tone for your experience. Thank you Steve. The room was extremely clean! We enjoyed the jetted tub after our long day of hiking. Would definitely stay there again.
Good experience at Best Western Bennington. I was in town for the weekend to visit the college and the accommodations were perfect for my needs and price point. Also Steve at the front desk was very helpful.
Stayed twice in the same trip! Asked for and received the same accessible room, and the super-sturdy bars in the shower were perfect. Steve had great suggestions for places to eat. Oh, and it's right next to Price Chopper, so you can go buy anything you forgot.
We have stayed at this property many times in the past. This is our first time this year. The motel needs some work. There should be mats at the front doors as there is pergo floor and with the wet snow/boots/dirt outside, it treks inside and then there is dirt everywhere. The breakfast used to be expansive and is now minimal with one waffle machine, one toaster and almost raw bacon. In the past, there were several options and when there is a congregation of people in there very early, there should be more options, even frozen pancakes to be microwaved. The room we stayed in was great. It had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. The only issue was the door lock wouldn't stick because there was broken molding on the door. Overall, we stay at this motel quite a bit in the winter due to the locality of it to the ski mountains. Steve at the front desk is always on point and very helpful.
Very Clean room. Friendly staff. Everything worked well - toilet was clean. Breakfast was ok but I didn't try everything. Can do better with the coffee. Price was ok. Hotel is 40 min to Mt Snow. Will return.
My partner and I decided on a last minute hotel getaway in Bennington, VT. When checking in, I inquired about a bathtub in the room. Steve, the front desk manager, was able to get us into a room with an amazing tub!! We had a lovely time and I was able to have a lovely bath. Clean and close to restaurants and shopping. Thank you Steve!!!
Stayed here for a night traveling for work. Booked a room on the BW app. When I arrived the man behind the desk Steve informed me that since I was a diamond member he upgraded my room to a jacuzzi suite. I stay at best westerns every week for several years and never did I have someone do this or even know I was able to get upgraded . Great customer service and very nice quiet and clean hotel. Definitely will stay again
The service was fantastic. Steven was very friendly, professional & helped meet our needs when we checked in after a long day of traveling. The room was set up very well & was clean. The morning staff was also very friendly, professional & helpful.
Steve at the front desk was so so so nice! He went through everything (wifi password, breakfast, etc.) We originally booked a standard king bed room. When we arrived we noticed there were balconies for some rooms so we asked about a room with one. Steve informed us that we could upgrade to a king room with a balcony at no additional cost since I am a member. He then did even more research and found us a king suite with a balcony without us even asking! He went above and beyond and was so kind. We loved our room. It was huge, very clean and perfect for us!!
Amazing experience. Spoke with Steven on the way here. He then ensured all of our amenities once we arrived. It's been the best experience of a hotel since my stay at Ramada (and I love staying in an indoor location). The Hotel breakfast was terrific. What a fantastic egg and bacon platter, They need to replenish more frequently. More Biscciuts would be proper. Friday, Steven was also able to give us directions to the town and coins to the laundry.
We initially spoke with Steve and dealed with him throughout our stay. He was an amazing representative of the great amenities the hotel offered. We hope you can you have other emoyees enthusiastic enough to encourage your guests to return. The amenities were great, and the room service was above standard. The jacuzzi was an unexpected pleasure. The walking distance to local markets is extremely convenient! Furthermore the breakfast is wonderful. This is why I visit most hotels, and this one is all right.
Had a great stay at Best Western - Steve at front desk was very helpful and gave us a great price. Made the experience enjoyable after a bad experience with a nearby motel. No complaints and we will stay again.
I frequently travel through Vermont for work and often stay at the best western located in Bennington. I stay on the road, at times, 3-4 nights a week and my experience with hotel personnel are no always the best. When I stay at the Bennington best western, I'm certain that my experience is simple and enjoyable when Steve is working. He's shows leadership, enjoyment, pride, and is ALWAYS knowledgeable with the surrounding area as well as making sure I have everything I need while visiting. Please take the time and consideration to promote this gentlemen. I seen a lot employed that wouldn't stand a chance at a fast food chain. But Steve, would be on the uprise as a upcoming employee positioned in management
Traveled up for a wedding with my partner. Pricing was $100+ better a night than the nearby hotel. We were checked in by a charming and helpful guy named, Steve, who reminded me of Sean Evans from Hot Ones. The room was nothing special, but we didn't plan to spend much time there. Everything was clean and orderly. The shower/bathroom was nice and wifi was stable. The fridge and air conditioner both worked well. TV was just cable with no on-demand (at least not that I could find), but there was a good selection of channels. Our only issue was one of the pictures on the wall gave us vertigo. Continental breakfast was a winner. Plenty of offerings (cereal, oatmeal, juice, yogurt, waffles, omelets, sausage, muffins, etc.) made it easy to get started in the morning. This was nothing ritzy, but if you're looking for a solid, clean, and comfortable place to stay at a good price then it's an easy 5 stars.
Breakfast is really good and varied. It's at a great location…quiet location and Steve at the front desk was super helpful as well. Highly recommended for the price point and for short term or long term stays.
This is a very dated, old motor lodge. We were booked into a king suite. Upon finding our room number, we found an unattached vacuum hose in front of the door. There was dirt from the vacuum spread on the carpet at the threshold to the room. Upon entering the room, we noticed that the furniture had seen better days. The sofa cushion had an oily looking stain on it. In the bathroom, the provided hairdryer was filthy. I have never seen anything like it. The handle and nozzle had built up dirt on it from use. You could have scraped it off with a knife!! Fortunately I had my own hairdryer with me. This was not one of our better stays at a Best Western.
By far the quickest and easiest check in I've experienced. Steve was such a joy and just an all around great person. He deserves a raise. Will definitely be back here again. Breakfast was tasty and the options were great. Rooms were nice and tidy.
Business and Family stay, poor stay for family, poor stay for business. Location is good, but sad that the room upkeep is so poor. Couldn't get garbage picked up, even when we asked. Front clerk was nice and courteous.
I travel for work and stay in alot of hotels. This one is definitely in my top 5 favorites! The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff is awesome! Especially Steve! Steve handled the very difficult guest checking in ahead of me with a calm reserve and his smile never left his face! He was wonderful! I definitely recommend this hotel if you're ever in this area!
Never had this happen before - make rez by phone at 3PM, show up at 430PM and am told by front desk clerk that she cannot give us a room until the manager approves the cleaned room. HOWEVER, the poor desk clerk does not know if her manager will return in 1 or even 4 hrs! She was unable to call him as well. STRANGE! We left because we had NO clue when our room would be available. We drove south to Pittsfield, MA and had a great room at Hilton Garden Inn
I stayed here for two days. Seven hundred dollars for what was at most a $150/day room. Poor breakfast . Cooked food was cold on both days and limited supply. Would not stay here again. Hotels in this area appear to be very limited.
We had a nice one-night stay here. Pleasant and professional staff, clean room, comfy bed and pillows. This is an older motel that is very nicely updated. No elevator. Our room on the second floor was oddly arranged to the point we had to move the tv desk forward so we both could see the tv. There were plenty of easy charging outlets and a Keurig with Green Mountain coffee. Breakfast had the best variety of items we've seen and a rotating hot items menu.
Easiest and fastest check in I've ever experienced. The front desk person, Steve, was very personable and answered all the questions I had before I could ask them. Steve made sure to give us all the information about the property that we needed as well as some places we could eat while staying here.
Steve was the man. Super helpful, even though my dumb ass locked my key card in the room like 3 times. The stay was much more pleasant than trip advisor's minimum requirement of 200 characteristics just to leave a review.
Steve Christman Was very friendly and welcoming awesome customer service very professional and actually held a conversation with me about the day that made me feel important like I was a priority in his day
After walking over 1600 miles, the treatment Harley and Steven gave my wife and I was stellar. They are very accommodating and so genuine. Being treated like family makes all the difference. We have been all smiles and so content for our short rest.
I stay here regularly for business trips, and I consistently receive excellent service from Steve at the front desk. He always greets me by name and asks me about anything special I may need while I'm in town. I'm glad I happened upon this place. I'll be back again for sure.
On a solo motorcycle trip through the lower 48 states, I stopped late in the evening in Bennington, very tired. Colleen was absolutely amazing and booked me into a room that was clean, and nice. I had a wonderful experience there, very comfortable, just what I needed. I would love to return there again one day!
Appreciated the friendly staff, clean room, gardens around the edges and breakfast. We travelled cross country and eventually gained a very clear view on value received. At BW Bennington the venue, the facility and the people checked every box. We enjoyed our stay.
Loved our suite with sliding doors to a patio and nice green space. Comfortable king bed and separate living room. Harley was terrific rectifying a problem. Excellent hot/cold breakfast. Wi-Fi was excellent as well.
Best Western (Bennington, VT) is a great hotel with a low price. All the amenities of a bigger chain at lower rates. Steven, the 3-11 desk clerk was very polite and courteous. He couldn't have done more to make my fiance's and my stay more enjoyable.
This is our second stay at the hotel. Rooms are clean, grateful prices. What keeps us coming back is the wonderful hospitality. We really enjoy Steve , works 3 -11 pm. Always a delight to talk with, goes above and beyond to make sure our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We look forward to see him and his cheerful smile and outgoing personality. Much love from Buffalo NY always
Large and comfortable room. Only good hotel in the area at a reasonable price. Even the travel sized toiletries were decent quality. Only hotel 24/7 coffee actually worth drinking. At the front desk, Steven was probably one of the most upbeat and attentive desk agents I've ever worked with... and that's coming from someone who travels for a living, 3-4 nights a week at a hotel, 45 weeks of the year!
Super friendly, welcoming, genuine, animated, energetic, lively, life-saving, spontaneous, handsome, lovely, inquisitive, helpful, caring, knowledgeable…. If going to best western ask for Steve ;) Room was clean and smelled nice !!!
This was a terrible experience. The room was filthy - dirty shower & toilet, hair everywhere, stained & wrinkled sheets. Clearly no care has been given to cleaning in quite some time. The light switches are crusted & the grime on the floor is thick. The front desk folks are very, very nice, but completely helpless to provide any service. The housekeeping seems to be a third party that is understaffed and unresponsive. I was incredibly patient, waiting days for a bathroom clean that never came. I cleaned this room myself in order to tolerate staying here. The internet was unreliable, lightbulb burnt out, microwave literally melted. The room reeked of smoke and someone was constantly smoking on the shared balcony, rendering it mostly unusable. Someone snuffed out a dozen cigarette butts right on the deck and nobody ever bothered to clean up. 3 different guests stayed in that room with that to greet them out their door. So gross. Wi-fi unreliable. The only good thing about this place is the friendly front desk team, but that does not go far enough to forgive the health hazard. I'll never stay at another Best Western.
Steven was extremely kind and helpful at the front desk. He really did not lead us astray. He even recommended us to a local restaurant for us to try. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. Thank you for all your help and accomodations!
Th best western at Bennington vt.. is wonderful the rooms are spotless and comfortable..and the front desk clerk STEVE... it totally fantastic very helpful and knowledgeable, more businesses should have employees like him
Can't really beat the price and the quality of this Best Western. Any time I come to Bennington, I set up base camp here. Clean rooms, great location, and always surprisingly quiet. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I have been lucky enough to interact with Steve the last couple of stays. He's a wonderful person to have at the desk to get you checked in.
Steve was wonderful. He greeted us with a warm smile. Very accommodating and very helpful during our visit. The rooms are clean and was able to get a good nights rest. I would definitely stay here again in the future.
I had one of the best check IN experience from a very nice young man Steve.. he was informative of area and local transportation. He was also very helpful on where myself and my friends could park our motorcycles safely informed us about the breakfast the next day is the next day wow he is fantastic.. I travel several times a year and hes the best I've ever experienced in the hotel ... I will return to this hotel when I'm in this area again
Steve at the front desk was warm and welcoming. He upgraded me because I belong to BW rewards. The room was very clean and comfortable. Super comfortable sheets and beds. Fridge and microwave. Felt very safe. Very happy with my stay!
Room was nice, bath tub was amazing, and Steve at the front desk was super helpful! Like the title said, you have a great staff. Nicely located in close to everything you could need. Would definitely come back:)
Steven is a great guy had a problem with a third party website and he helped my company get a room for me he was a nice guy and reserved the room as the paper work was being e-mailed to my boss which was great!
Steven in the office was extremely friendly and helpful. I'm a solo traveler and he was very understanding of my concerns. Would highly recommend. Also, the hot breakfast buffet is very generous, and the parking is perfect!
After a poor experience out to eat, with extremely rude staff, we checked into our hotel- we were given a very warm and friendly welcome by Steve. We so appreciated the contrast! Thanks Steve : ) You helped step our evening up with your great attitude. The morning staff was just as great, just as warm and welcoming! Our stay was comfortable and our room was spacious. We will return to this hotel again if we happen to find ourselves in the area in the future. We highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed five days while backcountry skiing the Catamount Trail, a Vermont gem. Steve checked me in on a busy snowy night and he was super friendly and helpful, especially in terms of orienting me around Bennington and providing local intel on where to eat. The room was spacious and clean and the morning staff provided good breakfasts, saving me time and money from not having to eat out. An excellent place to stay for a reasonable price.
Favorite place to stay when I'm in the area hands-down Always welcomed with a smile, thanks Steve !!!! Friendliest staff. You must stay for breakfast .Everything was excellent. Seen you soon !!!!!!!!!
We were checked in by Steve, who was friendly and helped us get oriented. Thanks Steve. Comfy room, thoughtfully arranged for people visiting for outdoor activities -- a mat on which to dry your boots, a thermostat, a closet to hang up damp clothes, a huge and comfortable bed, and ample hot water. Tea and coffee station was open all day. Thank you, Best Western, especially Steve.
Our staying at the best western was very good. We had a nice cozy room with easy access to main lobby if needed. Steve at the front desk was very helpful and kind making this trip even more fun. First time to the area and I would recommend coming to best western.
The front desk help, Steve, was the highlight of my visit. He made sure we knew everything we needed to know, quick check in and overall, a very friendly guy! Even saw him shoveling a few times as well! Someone get this man a raise!
I came into the hotel due to a snow storm that nearly wiped me off the road and i had no place to go, the man at the front desk (Steve) was extremely friendly, talked me through my situation and allowed me to charge my phone to contact my family, and get me situated. and the visit itself was amazing. Great property, friendly staff and good food. Also i cannot stress enough how helpful Steve was, he definetly deserves a raise!
We had a great time at the hotel. The room was clean. We could have used a doormat at the front door of the room to rid some of the dirt from the parking lot going into the room. The room was spacious, clean and well lit. Steve at check in was fantastic and the breakfast room person were great and helped with all of our needs. My son loved the bacon! We will be back!
I really enjoyed my stay I personally want to thank Steve for always being there during the evening shift to help with whatever I needed he was always very friendly which in Bennington comes a dime in a dozen he really made my stay comfortable.
We pull up in the later evening around 10:30 pm and were were welcomed by Steve!! He was very friendly and happy to assist us! Hot breakfast was great, so much variety. Check out was easy, simply leave card on bed. Great location! Thank you BW!
Staff is so important at a Hotel, and we greatly appreciate Steve's help in our reservation adjustments during a winter storm when the hotel was sold out. He took the stress out of the vacation and was helpful with the extra bedding. The both rooms in the hotel were warm in -6 degree temperatures, and the bed were firm and comfortable. Rooms were clean and provided all the things necessary with our stay. Clean towels with bathroom amenities mad the stay comfortable, and a great breakfast with hot eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles. Plus breads, cereal, juice and basically something there for everyone, like fresh fruits, snack bars, muffins, etc. The place looks renovated and clean, and would stay there again. Thank you!
For a budget choice, this place is good. It is clean, beds comfortable and the room was large and clean. The guy at the front desk, Steve, elevated the experience, from budget to five-star with his care, help and attitude.
My Guy Steve is the best here. Friendly face welcoming vibe makes you feel right at home. Nice hotel. The cell service is terrible but the hotel wifi makes up for it. Bennington is beautiful in the summer. I would stay here again.
Steven is so helpful and the manager was amazing also she was nice and helpful I would return again just because of them ! It was clean and Steven went above and beyond to help us he was nice and a great worker truly went above and beyond!
Front desk staff Haylee was very friendly and helpful, made sure we were taken cared of and thanked me for being a member. Room was great and clean. Breakfast was amazing, there were so many options to choose from and staff made sure to come into the dining room to ask if anyone needed any help. Overall, our stay was amazing and we will be booking again!
Steve at the Best Western in Bennington Vermont was simply amazing. 5 stars to this guy for his professional service. He went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. He had a great positive attitude and was always smiling. He continued to make sure he was available if I needed anything during my stay.
This hotel isn't fancy but it's in a nice location and the staff were great! We really enjoyed the breakfasts every morning. We did experience some room noise on either side of us. At one time, the rooms were adjoining but the connecting doors are locked and probably sealed. The walls are thin.
The room was clean and well stocked with the usual complimentary hotel items. Special thank you must be given to Steve who was able to get me extra towels and wash clothes late and with no pryer notice. He was very nice to talk to and gave our stay an extra reason to come back to this hotel.
I had so much fun and the hotel was amazing! The room was nice and so were the beds! Steve was so nice and Nikki made sure the room was clean and tidy! Steve gave my friend and I cookies when we were there and was so nice to us the whole time he was there!
We booked our room online literally minutes before we pulled in, and could not have been happier! Steve at the reception desk gave us a phenomenal welcome, and had everything all set for us even though he'd just received the reservation moments earlier. Our room was clean and updated, and the location was conveniently located to many stores and places to eat.
Aubrey was very friendly and helpful at check in. The location is really convenient. Unfortunately this hotel is in dire need of a deep clean. Both rooms I reserved had cleanliness problems. My mother-in-law's room smelled like cigar smoke, and the floor was very dirty. She said the bottoms of her feet were black just from walking from the bed to the bathroom during the night. My room had many, many mosquitos in it. They were coming in through the air vents as the windows were closed. There was even leftover bug carcasses on the walls and ceiling from previous guests smashing them. The hide-a-bed linens were crumpled and dirty inside the bed, and there were no extra linens or pillows in the closet. My bed sheet had leftover hair and stains on it. Our phone didn't work in the room so I walked to the front desk to ask for a new bed sheet. Aubrey delivered one to my room for me, as there was no housekeeping on staff at that time. Even the towels in my bathroom had stains on them. I've never stayed in a Best Western that was this dirty. For the price of the rooms ($235/night), I expected a lot more.
One night stay, friendly reception person (Harley). Motel-style, but nice room. Excellent breakfast, no masks required. A Price Chopper grocery store nearby to buy provisions. Watch sidewalk barrier when going from room to your car space.
Hotel is very shabby.....and was extremely dirty. the entry hall to our room was littered with trash and pieces of food. Badly in need of refurbishing. Beds looked as if a 3 year old made the....for the price paid, this hotel was WAY overpriced for the way it is kept up.
Steve was amazing at check in. Based on my experience with him alone I will definitely be back. The town was small but there is plenty to see. I look forward to stopping on my return travels. Thank you again!
I've been staying at the Bennington BW for a few years on and off. The location is super convenient, great amenities (laundry, gym, breakfast, conference area) and the staff is super friendly and helpful - ask for Steve, he's great!
An employee Michelle is absolutely fantastic! She gave outstanding service and helped with the local spots to hit up. Recommend breakfast with Michelle at the Best Western. Thank you. Location is nice.
Our room was large and comfortable. It had everything needed to make a pleasant stay and would have been a great room for anyone planning on extra nights. We were just passing through and really didn't need the size. It had a coffee table and sofa bed. The hot breakfast was much appreciated.
Room was clean and Harley was very helpful at the front desk. Wifi was fast and easily accessible. Grounds were neat and area was quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again the next time we are in the area.
We feel very safe here. Quiet, clean, no rugs, simple and old furniture. WiFi is good, TV is small, but reception is gooud. Breakfast was excellent! The pandemic continues here so they will not step foot in your room until you have departed, but you can ask for anything and staff is exceptionally nice!!
Checking in with Steve was a breeze. Definitely will stay here again. Clean rooms ,good location with a grocery store pizzeria and Walmart within walking distance. They also have a very good breakfast and free parking
I have Steve to thank at the front desk for helping me when I arrived. Very friendly guy. Our room was spotless thanks to William and Morgan. Thanks again to the staff for making my stay with my daughter very enjoyable.
Was warmly welcomed by Steve at the front desk. He was friendly and professional. Michelle, who maintains the breakfast area, far exceeded any Best Western I've stayed at previously. This is an older, motel-style property and some touch up repainting is in order. However, our room was quite large and we were pleased to find that the room had a faux wood floor instead of hard-to-clean carpet.
Steve at reception was very nice and helpful. Our room was small but clean and comfy. Only complaint was the shower . The spout was so loose it almost pulled out from the wall. Needless to say this was a challenge. A continental breakfast is provided.
clean, nice breakfast, room was clean and comfortable Steve was the best on checking us in 5 stars in his kindness. i would stay again when in the area based on the check in experience only Kind regards
There's lots to offer in the surrounding storefronts and Steve was a big help pointing out where to find places to eat and other things I needed on my trip. Liked my room a lot too. Very clean and a nice courtyard.
Steve had top notch customer service both on the phone when I called to book a room, and when I checked in! Bed was comfortable, and the rooms were accommodating. Just what we needed for the night after 6 hours in the car and to rest up for 6 more.
Steve checked us in quickly and gave us some wonderful tips on local places to check too!! Also ran some towels up late so we'd have plenty for the morning. Very grateful for that. Thank you and we'll definitely be back next year!!
I recently stayed at the best western in Bennington Vermont and they have one of the best customer service employees. I remember one gentleman, Steve, he was very helpful with accommodating all my needs during my stay.. so Thank you Steve!!
Weve always liked coming to the hotel but this time it was great to be welcomed by steve. What a great experience after a very long ride to get here. Id recommended this place to anyone coming to Bennington.
The property itself is dated, but our stay was extremely pleasant. Due to not having an elevator, we did have to climb a small set of stairs, but they are easy and doable. They did a nice job at breakfast with an assortment of items to please just about anyone. I would return again.
We always stay at BW because it's usually great but we were disappointed with the service and amenities this time. We stayed two nights in two separate rooms and on each night one of the rooms smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. When we asked at the front desk about resolving the issue they said there was nothing they could do and they could not move us to another room. We also asked for extra coffee pods and were told they didn't have any more. There was a pull out couch in one of the rooms each night and There was no bedding provided for the pull out couch other than a fitted sheet. When we asked at the front desk for a bedding set we were told that there were no more. We had to use sheets from our bed on the pull out couch so our kids would have covers. Hi I've never experienced any of these issues at any other Best Western before. The breakfast was decent though.
We stayed one night on the way back from the Maine coast to our home in New York. Location was good and room was clean and comfortable. We were in room 129 on 2nd floor and we could see the mountain and the obelisk from our room. Good restaurants close by.
They were short staffed at front desk, and cleaning services. Rooms were not ready hours after check in time should've been, room odor of smoke, only one towel and they knew three people were staying. Pool was broken and not in service.
This is the latest reincarnation of the venerable New Englander Motor Inn and still probably the best motel in Bennington, well-renovated, though the walls are still not completely soundproof. The staff we dealt with, particularly Steve at the front desk and Michelle in the breakfast room, were especially helpful. Rooms 171-79 look out on a pretty lawn area.
Very nice, well run. Greeted by Steve who explained all the ins and outs and features of the facility. Gave us the big heads up tip -- get dinner before all the local bizes close (at 8 pm). Clean room. And Dunkin' Donuts across the street! Plus, plus we got the super quiet end of the row room (138) and wow, Walmart just a few hundred yards away. Bonus view of the super tall stone monument that dominates the town. In the AM great bfast prepped by caring and considerate cooking person.
Just had the best experience with Steve (working the front desk). I am traveling with my 94 yest old mother-in-law and needed the two rooms I have booked to be close to each other. He worked with me (with a great attitude) to make that happen. Did I mention the is sold-out hotel! What a great employee Best Western has in Steve!
Quick summary: very comfortable stay in a well-maintained property. Helpful, professional staff. Good location. We were passing through on the way to visit family in Maine. This property is one of those two-story hotel/motel types from an earlier time that has been well maintained and renovated. We stayed in room 178, which was quiet, has two comfy beds, a good work desk and chair, chest of drawers, and good bedside lighting. There are many of the amenities one expects of a Best Western -- fridge, microwave, coffee/tea maker, iron/board, nice comforter and bed linens. Patio doors at the back of the room led to some outside chairs for a breath of fresh air and woodsy view. The bathroom is on the small side, with a stone countertop on the sink vanity, tub/shower combo (I LOVE a tub at the end of a long day,) fresh towels, and nice toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. Free wifi, flat screen TV, and HVAC all work well. Spotless housekeeping. Good buffet breakfast includes hot items such as sausage patties and fried eggs, wide assortment of breads and pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and juice. They get extra credit for having half-and-half with good coffee. Due diligence: my husband would have liked to see a more "grown up" cereal on offer like raisin bran, not just the kid cereals of cocoa puffs and frosted flakes, but he appreciated the sausage, etc. Friendly, professional, helpful staff. Steve was great for the expected smooth checkin, but also gave great advice for a dinner recommendation, directional guidance, and other help. The ladies managing the breakfast kept things well-stocked and fresh. This property has a number of amenities that we did not take advantage of, as we were just passing through, but you might have to check availability, partly due to COVID. I can say that the exercise room looks really nice with good equipment. but the laundromat was closed due to COVID concerns. ...but we appreciate good COVID safety practices -- we're not out of this yet!! There were electric car charging stations. Good location with easy access to restaurants, major travel roads, town, etc. To sum: - we will very much consider this property when we might be in the area again. Yes, the building is from another time, as are many hotel properties in this area, but it is well-maintained and a very good stay.
The property looks good on the outside but pass right by if you don't want to encounter full time residents and lousy rooms. Had strange people loitering around property all day and night, smoking right outside our door (we had a non-smoking room for a reason!)
We arrived late at night after a bad experience at another hotel. We called from an hour away and they were very accommodating. We had our rooms booked quickly. A different employee checked us in and he was also very friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The bathrooms were also very nice. The continental breakfast was a bit sparse due to covid restrictions, but we were able to have a bit to eat before we left. We would definitely stay here again.
Very worn motel. Pool and laundry closed. I think Best Western could do much better in updating this property. Dark and depressing inside the rooms. Steve at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. That is the only reason this best western gets 2 stars.
Nice motel. Convenient parking for my motorcycle in front of the room. Very helpful staff. Steve went out of his way to make my BW gift card work. He called BW and got it squared away. Even obtained the numbers of my valid cards so I could use them more easily. Above and beyond...
Where do I even start.. everything about this hotel is horrible aside from the front desk staff. We arrived a few hours earlier than anticipated and went to the hotel in the hopes we could check in earlier than 3, after traveling all day with 4 kids. They were unable to accommodate us because our room wasn't cleaned and ready for us, completely understandable IF the room was actually cleaned. Our room was absolutely disgusting.. my kids feet were black from walking around on the floor, we found someone else's leftovers in the fridge, a used towel on the back of the bathroom door, food crumbs under the bed, I could go on forever about the lack of cleanliness but I won't. We had to get cleaning supplies and clean the room ourselves. There are also no “amenities” the pool has apparently been closed down for quite some time do to maintenance issues, and continental breakfast was unavailable. We specifically booked a “hotel” with a pool for the kids so that was a major disappointment. The only reason I didn't cause a scene is because staff was SO nice and we desperately needed a place to sleep for the weekend because a full day of travel with 4 kids, one being severely autistic and another being 3 months old, was more than enough stress for all of us. Bottom line is stay ANYWHERE else, especially at the price we paid. My aunt from the area actually posted on Bennington FB page about our experience and locals all commented letting us know this is an ongoing problem and to check ourselves for bed bugs.
It's hard to review a hotel when they are restricted by Covid regulations. The staff was very friendly, but we did not get to enjoy any of the amenities. It is set up more like a motel with a door to the outside, no hallways. You can hear people outside in the parking lot, but it was not a problem. Breakfast was pretty low key (again Covid) but we had cereal and were okay with that. Large room with a couch. Easy to find and well located.
I was in Bennington for a last minute softball tournament. After dealing with another hotel who gave my room away, I stopped at the best western. Steve was there at the counter to treat me with a courteous smile, and professional demeanor. Steve got me a room quickly and made check in a breeze! Room was clean and cold - which was amazing!
We checked in the Best Western in Bennington VT on 7/7/21. Steve was so helpful, kind and courteous. A big shout out to Steve. Ty so much for letting us enjoy our stay. Room was very clean. Easy to find, lots of stuff to do in the area. We will definitely stay here again
My husband and I stayed one night while visiting family. I was warmly greeted by Cassie at the front desk. She let me know that the pool was closed and the juice machine was broken. She told me about the WiFi, explained where my room was and said the breakfast was continental with prepackaged items. She let me know she could always grab me something if I missed the hours since she'd be working the next morning. Despite the lack of amenities, Cassie's personality really made me feel welcome. You could tell she takes pride in her job which is refreshing. The room itself was motel style, but spacious. It had a large fridge, microwave and a large vanity in the bathroom. You could tell that it's an older property, but despite that the room seemed clean. I liked the fact that there wasn't carpet which always makes it feel cleaner. The artwork on the walls were quintessential Vermont scenes; very pretty. The bed wasn't as comfortable as the Best Western we stayed in in NH the night before, but that Best Western failed in cleanliness. Overall, I would stay here again and kudos to the wonderful front desk agent Cassie for her vibrant hospitality.
I made a solo trip to visit some friends and stayed at this hotel. I felt very safe, the room was spotless and comfortable. Staff was great, Niki at the front desk was super nice and accommodating, she was very knowledgeable of the area. Would definitely stay again!
We found this to be a nice hotel, clean and quiet. It could use some updates and due to Covid there was no hot breakfast, but the coffee was good and there were many packaged breakfast foods to choose from. When we checked in, Steve was very pleasant, personable, and helpful. Our beds were very comfortable and after we picked up our breakfast we sat at a picnic table in the sun, under some trees, and that was a pleasure.
I really wanted to write a great review for this property because the front desk clerk (Steve) has been amazingly kind and polite. This is an older property so we are able to overlook minor imperfections. The room appeared to be clean, but when I pulled down the sheets, I discovered blood on the comforter. Housekeeping failure. i immediately called Steve at the front desk and he was very apologetic. He had to contact management and a housekeeper to locate a clean comforter for us. If it were not for Steve, (and my broken neck) I likely would have left and found a different motel. I likely would not book here again based on the condition of the property and room.
Steven made the check in progress. Quick and easy. Property is clean and quite. Easy on and off the road. Will stay again. Plenty of parking for all size vehicles. Food within walking distance. Breakfast included.
Thank you Steve for being so friendly and helpful. Our stay was nice and clean! Area surrounding the hotel had several places to visit to show history of the town and honoring Veterans. Would definitely stay here again!
Shame on the Best Western! I didn't expect much... but oh my! The first room my husband, my daughter and I were booked in smelled like smoke. So much that it was choking us. The front desk moved us to room next door (all non smoking rooms) it wasn't much better. The floor was not clean, the chair by the writing desk was broken. Thankfully we were there only for two nights. The second night there was so much noise (a group of young men partying till 3 in the am) we couldn't sleep. The next day the bagged breakfast was not there.. the woman at the desk had to run out and get more supplies.
I really enjoyed my weekend stay at Best Western Bennington From the moment I arrived, the hotel staff was helpful and attentive. I was traveling with a group of friends and we all enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean and the linen was fresh. It's ideally located next to a Walmart. It has a charging station for electronic cars. The staff had answers to all our questions. Breakfast was available and plentiful for our group. This is a great option for busier months or a pit stop on a long drive.
Beware! This Best Western is by far the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. We choose it due to its location proximity to several Southern, Vermont ski resorts. Three other family members stayed at this location. The entire facility is outdated, and run down. If your room location is near the road or shopping center then you will hear the noise from both in your room throughout the night. The rooms are overpriced for the quality. We could only take warm showers. The water temperature took 10-15 minutes for each shower to get warm. The water temperature never got hot enough. There where limited television channels. We called the front desk, and where told to "call the cable company". Due to the lack of offered tv channels we plugged in our own laptop into their tv and streamed our shows. The room also had a lack of lighting, and garbage disposal. Lack of extra blankets, pillows, and towels included in the room for a suite.
This MOTEL is occupied by mostly full time residents that don't have the respect of the working class that like to get a good nights rest. Ever night was a different problem. The drinking and loud music from the back apartments were a every night problem. Cars coming and going honking horns was annoying. Do not cone here looking for a nice place to rest. Room smelt like mold. Will never give them our company business again. Probably a good place if you don't work ,drink and play the system.
Typically, at a normal hotel, I'm very appreciative of housekeeping; they have tough jobs and I always leave them a large tip. At this Best Western - Bennington, however, they were extremely loud, rude, condescending, and turned what otherwise would have been a 4-star stay into a 1-star stay. They woke me up extremely early in the morning with a loud knock on the morning I was supposed to check out, and then gossiped loudly about the guests -- saying incredibly offensive things about the guests -- while they were cleaning the next room. I couldn't sleep over the sound of their loud, offensive, rude bad-mouthing of the guests, so I got out of bed, drank a coffee and left as soon as I could.
So where do I begin. The front desk staff seemed confused and unsure of how to check me in. When I got to my room, it was tiny, terribly outdated, and wreaked of cigarettes. The bathroom had peeling walls and ceiling. I noticed stains on my bed sheets but it was after the front desk closed for the night. The place seemed worse than when I stayed here a few years ago. I got the impression that people are living there and it didn't seem very safe. I witnessed a violent verbal confrontation between a couple two doors down. I paid in advance on hotels.com but the receipt reflected a different amount. I would not recommend nor stay here again. I'm honestly not sure how this hotel retains its Best Western branding.
Stayed here for two nights in room 126. Housekeeping was AMAZING, room was very clean, they are taking extra precautions during this COVID-19 crisis and you can tell. Would definitely stay here again if I was ever in town/
BW used to be a motel/hotel chain that strove for excellence. This two-story motel does not come with an elevator, the upgrades were not quite up to today's current hotel standards, but it's location is close to Bennington and the three covered bridges. This will not be a repeat destination for us.
My husband and I have stayed here several times when doing our annual ski trip in February . We enjoy the quiet location of our room . Beds are very comfortable . Breakfast was very good waffles, eggs , bacon , sausage, pastries toast. The only downside is we had a nonsmoking room that definitely smelled like stale cigarette smoke
I stay in the Bennington area frequently for work. I have stayed at a few local locations and none beat the Bennington Best Western in convenience of location/hours, as well as service. There are stores with late hours conveniently behind the BW that you can walk to. This BW offers laundry and breakfast, and Tina at the front desk is super helpful, personable, and knowledgeable of how to make the most of your BW rewards points too!
We used this hotel for our wedding block. It is a small hotel but they allowed us to block most of the rooms for our friends and family. The staff was friendly and accommodating! They did have my reservation booked for the wrong dates, but were able to change it easily and quickly for the correct nights.
I'm not a big fan of Best Westerns-they are individually owned and inconsistant. The Front Desk was friendly and let us check in early. Our room was spacious, very clean with a large bathroom. There was a large flat screen TV and remote control A/C. On the negative side was the vinyl floors, one of our keys didn't work and was replaced 3 times til one worked, very small shower, and a hi-speed internet that worked great after you signed in and then had to go to another site and sign an agreement policy before it worked-never seen that before-annoying. To add to all this the 5 star restaurant was closed for repairs.
We stopped unexpectedly due to car trouble. Location is good with grocery store and Walmart right behind hotel. The room had linoleum floor which I thought was unusual. Room was clean but a little stuffy. We stayed in 4 Best Westerns on out trip south and it was the most expensive...
Comfortable room and friendly staff. It even had a place to plug in my electric car, which was a big plus! Staff gave good recommendations of things to do in Bennington. Will stay again if we are in the area.
We stayed here for one night during our travels. The accommodations were just okay. During the night we had a nor'easter blow in, which resulted in loud wind and rain against our wind-facing door. The plastic underneath the overhand outside or door would loudly rattle as the winds blew underneath it. The accommodations were average, at best.
We have stayed here several times. It is clean. Make sure you reserve a first floor, outside room, if you are older with luggage. The breakfast room gets very crowded. Eggs, sausage and bacon are mediocre.
One of our stops along the way in viewing the Fall colors. Staff was friendly and accommodating (changed our room to downstairs as we are seniors carrying luggage with no elevators). Breakfast was plentiful and stocked, with eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, waffles, pastry, cereals, yogurt, coffee and juice. Met some sweet people while eating breakfast in the dining room. Would highly recommend.
The service from lobby staff was fantastic. Breakfast room really small and crowded and food not laid out well which increased congestion. The surface of the building and the rooms is sharp and clean. But the signed of an aging building were evident. For some reason we were placed in a room without exterior door that looked like it was in a really old wing of the building.
Best Western Bennington was very clean and centrally located hotel for leaf peeping. We enjoyed our stay. The only problem we had was that this was an adjoining room and you really had no privacy. Other than that, we were very happy with our stay!
Great location for food, sightseeing and access to highways. Good breakfast and close to groceries and shopping. Robert frost stone museum is a short distance up the road. Staff was friendly and helpful
Beds were great. Our phones didn't work very well because our service provider changed. Room 274 had a deck with several chairs and a table that would be very nice on a warm day. Wi fi was o.k. Very convenient location.
The staff were incredibly un-helpful and un-knowledgeable about anything. It almost became a joke to us if we needed to ask them for anything because they were that unhelpful and dismissive. The breakfast was just ok, and so were the rooms. It's an older motel style hotel which was fine with us. The location is great, but we won't stay here again.
This Best Western is an older Motel type hotel. All rooms have an outside entrance. The inside appears to have been updated recently. The room was clean, after reading the signs in the room we were able to turn on the window air conditioning unit to provide heat. The electric baseboard never turned on. The room type was comfortable, bed as well. Our refrigerator made noise most of the night Room 121. The breakfast was nice and what you would expect hot eggs, waffles to make, coffee etc. It's in a very small room.. There is a larger room next to the breakfast room where most people went in to eat. I would suggest to BW to move the breakfast room so that your guests can find what they are looking for and can move within the small space.
Great location in Bennington, look out door and see the Bennington Battle Monument, which is worth a trip to Bennington. The Pubylx House for dinner and is less than a mile away, food was great, service fantastic, also one of the best salad bars I have seen and decor nice also.
We had a great room at this hotel. It is a motel style hotel just outside town. Reception was efficient and friendly. Breakfast was OK it was fairly quiet at night just the occasional traffic noise. We would certainly stay here again.
Convenient to Bennington College. Room was great, beds comfy. Clean, and great balcony on second floor (our room faced the back). Reasonable typical hotel self-serve breakfast. Key cards were consistently problematic.
The room was clean, the staff very friendly. Free breakfast was very nice, the usual foods and very adequate. Check in and out was very efficient, no complaints at all. Downtown shopping area is about 5 minutes from motel, motel was far enough from roads, no road noise at all.
First night after a day of riding on our 2019 fall m/c trip. Pulled into parking lot and the property at first glance appeared to be an older motel. Once off our bikes and looking around, the grounds were clean, freshly painted and well manicured. The reception area was nice and the staff very friendly and helpful The room was very modern, clean and cool complete with m/w and in room fridge freezer. From the street we were thinking hmmmm...once inside - very happy. As usual, the blue and white sign rarely disappoints!!!
The facility was immaculately clean, and the staff was great. There was one problem and that was the incredibly noisy air conditioning unit. It had to be turned off in order to get any sleep. If that problem is resolved, the facility would be perfect.
They started to do renovations last year. That is good, but they seem to have stopped. The bed was comfortable and room clean, but... The decore is dated and the AC unit was on lowest temp and could not be adjusted. The staff is fantastic and very nice. Breakfast is marginal. Overall a good value, but needs to be brought up to speed.
I don't mind basic but I would expect to pay a matching amount of money for such accommodations. The pool is quite small and is usually filled with a lot of kids who splash, make noise, and other normal kid activities. Not great for sitting on the deck and reading. The staff are the best part of the motel. They were friendly and very helpful. My honest assessment would be that this motel is good for families with young kids.
Everything was great. Room was spacious and clean, staff were friendly and courteous, internet worked well, parking was convenient. Overall, awesome experience and will stay again if ever in the area.
The room they gave us had an odor. The customer service representative at the front desk said that she would give us a different room and took care of this immediately. I especially want to compliment your employee, McKenzie, who took care of our needs. It was a wonderful stay.
Great place to stay. good price, although it is higher in summer months of course. nice little breakfast and pool. very clean, no issues at all. have stayed in the past and will in the future! You will be happy with your stay!
Great Value, Great service, Great comfort, Great location. Looked forward to staying again since positive experience last Summer. Front Desk very helpful as usual and Professional. Beds are great and overall room was very comfortable.
Ok before we start this is actually a Motel as opposed to a Hotel. You park in front and walk straight in to your room. Now that that is cleared up they really do it well. The staff is friendly and very helpful the place has everything you need including a nice pool. The rooms are newly done and are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and good quality. All in all a nice place to stay.
Stayed the weekend of June 7 - 10, 2019. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable. Very good breakfast. Felt safe. Walking distance to Walmart and Price Chopper and many other places of interest. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I didn't see towels by the pool. Maybe too early in the season or something. Other than that one small issue I highly recommend this property!
Staff always go out of their way to make you feel welcome here. Always going the extra mile. For example, the water cooler was out of order during my stay, but Keionna the breakfast girl made sure I got a cold bottle of water. It's little things like this that keep me coming back.
Wonderful service. Staff always smiles and greets everyone. Great breakfast with a lot of variety! Truly enjoyed my stay. Will surely be staying again. Love that the floors are not carpet, makes the whole place feel a lot cleaner.
We only stayed one night as we were passing through town. It was surprisingly quiet considering its proximity to shopping centers. The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and although it was cozy it had everything we could need. I was personally not a fan of the floor, which was not carpeted but rather some type of hard wood or vinyl (although it's probably cleaner than carpet). The bed was comfy and the staff were knowledgeable enough to have spread guests out in rooms so we weren't all next to each other since they weren't booked solid the particular night of our stay, which was lovely.
Friendly staff, clean well appointed rooms, excellent complimentary breakfast. I especially liked "wood" vinyl fooring in the rooms (rather than carpets which get soiled with use). The bed was very comfortable, affording a good night's sleep.
My husband and I stayed here to go skiing for a couple days . Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. The breakfast was perfect and the time that it started a plus due to traveling to the slopes early in the am . Would definitely stay here again
We stay here when we head to Vermont to ski. The staff is friendly, the beds are comfortable, and the refrigerator in the room is a nice size. The wifi is good and does not cut out on you. There is always a good selection for breakfast.
I have been using the Best Western Bennington for our athletic teams the past couple years. The location and proximity to the Price Chopper and Walmart as well as ease of getting in and out and back onto the roadway all make for a nice place to stop with the teams.Bennington features a variety of dining options within a mile of the Best Western. The BW is dated, but the beds are nice. I will continue to book teams here unless someone can guide me to a better location in Bennington.
I have stayed at this hotel/motel a number of times in the past years. I have always found it clean and the staff wonderful. This trip the staff was still friendly. But the rooms were not clean, had to ask for our floor to be swept again which in itself was not a big deal, but the sheets were stained and one bed had hair and dirt in between the sheets. Also the bathrooms were not overly clean. Very disappointed as I felt the price of the two rooms I reserved far exceeded the quality of the rooms. I will not stay there again.
This is an older motel but is in really nice condition. The room was exceptionally comfortable with a mini-frig and microwave. The staff person at check-in was very friendly and helped with some dinner suggestions. Good WiFi and a nice selection at breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
Staff was friendly and so helpful. Great location. I definitely stay again if I were to visit. We were allowed to cancel a night since we had to leave earlier than expected. No problem. The room was a little small, but we made it okay.
This is a drive to the door type motel style hotel. The hotel treated us well and gave us the best room they had available. It was niched in a corner and was very large with space for a sofa and plenty of landing spots for our stuff. There were even two luggage racks already set out. They had a very nice whirlpool bathtub and a separate shower. The toilet was in a separate room as well but still inside the bathroom. The whirlpool was among the best ever as you could control the whirlpool jets with the little dial on the side of the tub. Most of the time I find these broken. On the highest level the water almost lifted me out of the tub!! It was also very deep and super for soaking - I used two cups of mineral salts!! This place is an old “motor lodge” where you park near the door so lots of dirt gets tracked in - to make cleaning easy they had no carpet but used laminate flooring instead. I was happy the floor was very clean and I didn't feel anything under my bare feet. They offer a decent complimentary breakfast that has enough choices for everyone and will get you going in the morning. I was surprised that they had sausage gravy. The egg option wasn't so good as they only had those little yellow egg discs. The OJ was fairly good I loved that they had vanilla greek yogurt!!
I realize this is an old motel refurbished but it does not live up to the standards of a Best Western. The room was very musty and it was extremely hard to breathe. We turned the air conditioner down in the 60's and it still did not dehumidify the room. The commode was unstable and you thought you would fall off of it when you sat down. The floor was filthy, they do run the sweeper but when I walked on the floor with white socks it was so dirty I could not get them clean and had to throw them away. The rug at the door was very dirty and did not look like they even ran a sweeper on it. Sorry this room was not a good room.
One of better Best western Hotel. Nice clean rooms with wood like flooring and comfortable beds. Very good friendly staff ready to help anytime .Will visit again on my next trip to Area. Parking just outside room and good working wifi was plus.
We were very happy with our clean, modern room. There was a refrigerator and also a microwave, which came in handy. The breakfast room seemed well appointed, but we never actually tried the breakfast, so cannot comment on that. The hotel is conveniently located right along the main stretch of road through town.
As others have stated...pubic hair on the sheets, dirty tub and the floor was not swept. Girls trip: my friend slept on top of the covers. We ask the front desk to at least put clean sheets on the bed. (and they did) After driving from 540 miles, we were very tired and ready for a nice clean room. On the website the pictures they shared it looked like a very clean room. Very misleading. Not again!
Disappointed - spent a lot of money for a very average at-best room. The sink didn't drain well (toothpaste and soap residue everywhere), the beds were not very comfortable and room was just outdated. The fitness center was closed during our stay and breakfast wasn't good either (frozen and reheated eggs, etc). The plus is that it is close to the highways and next to shopping. Probably won't stay there again
Very accommodating staff, great location, very convenient to places to eat and local attractions. Rooms are clean and comfortable, Has everything you need for a great visit to this area. Plenty of parking.
Travelling with a 92 yr old who uses a rollator walker at all times, I requested an accessible room. What a WONDERFUL surprise to find room 153 - handicapped parking right outside the room (except for the person that parked there that WASN"T handicapped!)… a ramp up to the entryway, and a ramp up and over the door, into a HUGE room, perfect for someone with a walker or wheelchair. SO much room. The room was spotless! the beds were SO COMFORTABLE! It was extremely quiet! Slept really well! Truly wasn't sure what to expect based on reviews and pics, but SO GLAD I chose this spot! Tried to stay again on the way back home, but the room was already booked, and no other accessible rooms were available. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Definitely a winner if you want to rest and relax and maybe even step back in time a bit while exploring.
We stayed for 2 nights last weekend for Bennington family weekend. Check in was slow due to the hotel losing our 2nd night reservation. They worked to correct that but that didn't undo the stress. Beds are decent and the room is big enough, but with an uncomfortable couch. You'll have to ask for more towels and bring your own pillow, as theirs are stiff. Better off driving a few feet down the road to stay at Knotty Pines which is way cheaper and friendlier!
We stayed in this hotel for two nights. The hygiene in this hotel is far below standards, The furniture is broken and/or theadbare, furniture and bathroom were sticky and the carpet dirty On top of that we found out in the morning that we had slept under a quilt with bloodstains and dirty patches! When we complained, the manager agreed with us that this room was far below Best Western Standards. As a compensation, she promised to re-imburse one night on our credit card. But it turned that she had not kept her word, as we found that only 25% of one night had been re-imbursed to our credit card! So the hotel is dirty and the management cannot be trusted to keep their promises. That is bad publicity for Best Western in Bennington. I advise anyone to stay away from this hotel as far away as possible!
Friendly staff, remodeled modern rooms, good security, and fantastic Pizza in the strip mall 50 yards away. Breakfast was good, everything is really clean. Staff was friendly and accommodated me with the open trailer that I was pulling to secure it properly.
Once again our stay at a Best Western was wonderful! Smiling faces! Helpful employees! Free breakfast! We've built our status tp Platinum and they upgrade our room ! Give us a goodie bag! Actually we are spoiled !
Pubic hairs on pillows and blood under blankets . Tub was nasty dirty. Everything was brought to the attention of management and they said they would take care of the housekeeping. Complaint filed with BBB. Stay at the Hampton Inns much better facility and less expensive.
We've spent 2 weeks every summer at this property for around two decades. It has made constant efforts to update over that time and the new management is definitely making a notable stamp with fine renovation efforts in the past three years. Billy T's Northside Dairy Bar being right across the street is a priceless bonus. The staff was always very friendly but the present crew is truly exceptional in every way.
We stayed 1 night, it was a decent room, A/C was fairly loud, had outdoor pool. Very small breakfast area, not stocked well or staffed. We did do laundry, $1.50 a load for wash machine, and same for dryer. Bed was soft, over stuffed pillows. Restaurants near by. Upon check in they did give us an upgrade room #120, which is next to the office, it is a one story motel.
We absolutely loved this hotel and the pool was great too!! We were in town for my nephew's wedding so we had quite a few family members staying as well. Beautiful spacious rooms and very comfortable.
We stopped here as we were going through. We have been here before & they did not let us down again. Wish we could have stayed longer. Everyone was still very nice, pleasant. room still comfortable, everything worked. Would recommend any time.
After traveling 12 hours on a motorcycle this was a much needed stop. Not sure what we'd find, we had a few minutes to look at google maps for hotels near us. With no time to search reviews we knew choosing this hotel by name was our best shot. The staff was friendly and patient while we booked an impromptu nights stay along the side of the road. Older property however it was kept pretty clean and we got a decent nights sleep and a breakfast in the morning to send us on our way! Grateful for the availability at this Best Western!
The rooms were clean and fresh. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Air conditioner ran efficiently and quietly. Floors were vinyl wood type which gave the room a clean appearance - much better than carpet. Bathroom had been updated - liked the hairdryer with night light at the bottom. Location was good - mall right behind with all you could want or need. Quiet and pleasant. Front desk people were fantastic and ready for every question we had. The out door pool looked so inviting but we did not have opportunity to use it.
Spent 2 nights at this hotel. Paid $134 per night; way to much. Run dated and run down. Had problem with door exiting the bath room. Almost had got stuck inside bathroom. A/C did not work properly. Could not stop it from running. Got no housekeeping service. Asked for $25.00 credit and told OK. When I checked out, there was not credit but asked again got credit.
Nothing amazing, just a good clean place to stay while traveling. Clean room, good location, pleasant staff. Very close to the center of town and close to the big Bennington Monument place. I would stay there again if in the area
Hotel was 90% full with workers that are apparently repairing the surrounding roads. Around 4-5 p.m. pickup and larger trucks arrived. They took all of the parking in front of the building which blocked any view if we sat outside our room in the provided chairs. On our last night they had a cookout and the cigarette smell was overwhelming. We felt as if we were at a truck stop. Although our room was clean & comfortable it was unusual to have wooden floors with no carpeting. We would not stay here in the future.
Wanted to drive to Bennington Vt. to spend the Night and Surprise Our Parents in Troy NY. by just showing up in the Morning. The Hotel is Older but very Clean. Staff is Great and Friendly. Breakfast was good and my wife had slept and gave us a Breakfast Bag to go. Looking for a Clean, Reasonable Hotel ...this is the Place.
We have learned that if you show up at the front desk to ask for a room, typically the rate is better than most offered online. You are also not paying in advance and you don't have the cancellation issues that sometimes arise. Not the case with this location. Clearly, they were not busy but the clerk offered me a room for $140 and then chiseled it down to $130 with AAA. The room was showing online for $107. I was too flummoxed to go out to my car and book it online, but, believe me that is what I will do next time. I would rather have the 20 - 25 dollars in my pocket. The hotel is more motel style. The rooms are clean enough but could use some attention. Drapes are mishung, grouting is old and in need of replacement, furniture is old and cracked or torn in places. The TV was great and we were able to get the Stanley Cup game 4 (not available in many other hotels due to less cable options) so we were happy with that element. Overall, the property is tidy but tired. A bit more care with the small details might improve things overall, but, still not worth what we paid. We stayed in nicer places for $100 over the past 38 days on the road. This was our first Best Western experience, likely will be our only night in a BW.
My wife and I stayed here during a trip through New England. It is a motel style property on a major roadway in Bennington. The property exterior was well kept, as was the lobby. Both the afternoon and morning desk staff were excellent. Our room was clean, quiet and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the internet very good. The included breakfast was very good. We had a problem with the bathroom door that was handled, and a heating problem due to controls we did not understand, but the front desk were able to fix. The front desk recommendation of a local restaurant was flawless. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
The room was very adequate, and clean. The Desk staff were very helpful, the cleaning staff very polite and did a good job. The breakfast was always hot and good . Would recommend the Best western for stays in the area, every thing is near by.
We just stayed in Bennington Vt. over night. And the Best Western was a great choice. After a long day on the road we had a clean spacious room. My husband had a nice surprise as there was a recliner in the room. He was able to relax and unwind too.
We had been pleased with Best Western Bennington in the past and found that it continues to be a good place to stay. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. I wasn't aware of my reward points, but the check-in person checked my status and found that I was eligible for a room upgrade. A pleasant surprise! Our first floor room was very convenient, close to the breakfast area and lobby. Our room was clean and quite spacious (king bed plus sofa, including a delightful hydro-massage tub). The internet and TV worked fine and we were happy to have a microwave and fridge. The floor of our particular room was laminate rather than carpeted, which was a bit of a surprise, but we didn't mind. Overall, staying at the Best Western Bennington was a good value and a good experience.
Been to this BW many stays before and remain likely to stay here again. For folks skiing the Southern VT mountains and travel up from downstate NY or Central/Northern NJ. Motel style rooms not my favorite, though they're clean with comfy beds. Expect parking lot noise early ski day mornings. Not a sleep-in type of set up, though I think most stay here to awake and eat and bolt early as the closest decent mountains (Mt Snow, Stratton, Bromley) are 40-60 minutes from the hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful and convince you that they will accommodate any reasonable request. Just try to avoid any special request during peak ski day check out, 7-9 am. Parking, room wifi, room lighting, climate control and TV are all fine and free. Rooms are spacious though decor is unmemorable and a bit downscale. Only problem I had - a big one - and only this time - no hot H2O for showers. Not nice after a day of family skiing on Killington in the mid-teens. Couldn't resolve as the hotel was fully booked and a plumber would not be found in time in the middle of the holiday weekend. Perhaps the staff could have checked to see if they could attempt resolution, though they took no action. Next stay we check the H2O temp as soon as we walk in the room.
Just what you would expect from a Best Western. Well maintained, well managed. No hookers or drug dealers lounging round the parking lot. If that disappoints you and you hope to find a dark side to Bennington as part of your tour, forgetaboutit. This is a family kinda place with everything in proper order. No surprises. That is what this place is.You stay in a Best Western precisely because you don't like surprises . If you aren't a “fancy pants” kinda person who wants antique oak furniture , fake fancy shampoo and fresh baked croissants delivered to your room on demand, for $350 a night , this will do ya just fine.
Have stayed here for many years on ski trips. It was a good place and has recently been acquired by new owners. Rooms have gone through a nice upgrade. Carpets removed and replaced with pergula flooring. Fresh paint. Vanities have been upgraded. Very clean rooms. Even the towels are fluffy! And best of all, if you have been there before, Buttons, the outside cat, has been adopted by the former owners and is now living happily inside in NJ. Hot/cold breakfast offered every morning. Front desk staff VERY nice.
There have been some recent upgrades which were nice. The lobby was clean and the staff was pleasant. The breakfast area was small but uncrowded. The breakfast itself was ok, nothing to write home about. My room was ok. I wasn't used to seeing a window-type AC unit that provided heat also. It was a little confusing because the thermostat on the wall didn't actually control anything. The bathroom was very clean, too.
We found our entire experience at the Best Western, Bennington, Vt. to be very comfortable at all levels. We were warmly welcomed and everything we needed to know in terms of room and its location and breakfast was fully explained. Our room was well appointed and very clean, kudos to the housekeeping staff. Fdront desk personnel were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good.
Over all we had a great experience, We always try to stay at Best Western when ever possible as I'm are Handi-Cap and they have great rooms for a Handi - Cap person. Bennington VT. Does not have that many good Quality motels. We used to live in Bennington years ago and notice a lot of the great motels have been left to run down. Years ago the Best Western was known as the Heritage House & Motel and was one of the top motels and restaurants in Bennington.
I hesitated to write a review because I was given a sheet of paper when I checked out stating I would be getting a refund for my 1 night stay. The issue was over bugs in the bathroom sink. I thought that was good PR that they offered me a refund (as I didn't get much sleep) I kept noticing the bugs kept coming no matter how much I tried to get rid of them. It was late at night and cold- I just wanted to sleep after a long drive. As of today (Dec 1) the refund has not appeared on my charge card. I was charged for the room and that appeared on the charge statement. November 30th I tried calling and was told they had problems with their computer system. I was also told the manager would call me back that day. I never received a call.
We stayed at the Best Western this past weekend to see our college rugby team in action. The team also stayed here as well. Check in was quite fast and easy. Our room was located in a corner location in this motel-like property. The king size mattress was really nice ~ seemed new. Another thing we noted was the excellent water pressure in the shower and great water temperature control. This was especially nice after watching several hours of rugby action in the cold on Saturday. We took advantage of the continental breakfast both days, and compared to several other properties that would fall in the same price range, this was better than most. I book dozens of hotel rooms several weekends a year and try to ensure the students are likely to have a solid experience. The experience at the Best Western was quite good and we are likely to use this property in the future.
We were there for a family emergency and drove all the way from Florida. When we checked in it was late, we were tired and cold. We went to our room changed and were ready for bed, when we pulled the blankets down there was hair and dirt and crumbs like the room was used prior to us and housekeeping just made the bed after they left instead of changing sheets etc.. We called the staff and she brought us keys to a new room and looked at the bed. Blonde girl. She saw everything and I took pictures. We moved to another room and if coarse we had to go outside in the freezing cold! The next room smelled like someone prior to us had smoked. There was a deodorant room freshener in the corner of the room next to the TV stand. ( and the doors on rooms say no smoking) I'm guessing that was their way of getting rid of the smell!! We slept and got up early to get to the hospital for my mother. At checkout I told the rep. She didn't care, just explained it happens. I am a member and I stayed at a property here in Florida when my brother had cancer and it was fantastic!! This hotel is a best Western and although the building is older, housekeeping can still work harder to clean the room and your staff needs some training in exceeding the expectations of your guests! We were more like a bother to them. Great customer service goes a long way in a time of confusion or mishaps...
Not a bad stay, however it does not compare fully to a Best Western Plus but I shouldn't have expected that. The beds were a little stiff for my liking, and the breakfast needed much improvement. Breakfast could use some more options and a better quality in the food (pre-cooked microwaveable products). Overall it was a fairly clean hotel and a decent option for the Bennington area, however I feel that the Hampton Inn might have been a better option if will to pay the additional cost.
An older property that has been well maintained with a friendly & helpful staff. After a day of leaf peeping it was nice to sit outside our room enjoying the warm autumn afternoon with a beverage before heading off to dinner. The bed & pillows were very comfortable, no issues with the wifi, & although the bathroom is a bit small the shower was invigorating. Would not hesitate to book another stay.
Nice clean hotel that is easy to find and priced right. Location is great with easy access Friendly staff that is attentive to your needs and provides quality service. Will stay there again when business brings me back to Bennington Vermont.
Room had several unrepaired items. No receipt sent by e-mail. Desk clerk gave poor direction to room location. Heavy road repairs ongoing outside the hotel severely impacted access to and from the facility.
This was the biggest bed I have ever slept in! Very very comfortable too, room was a little small and dark but still very nice. The breakfast was great ( and waffles ). Staff did all they could to help and advised on local days out .
Most reviews on this property are fairly good. I just spent 4 nights in this property on a work related stay. The room was clean enough but my main issue is really not their fault. That is cell service, all cell providers, have no service in the area. If you need access to your cellular phone for any reason then this is not the place for you. They do have a rather slow wi-fi but NO CELL SERVICE. My other issue was with the magnetic cards that open the room doors. My room locked me out when I returned for a lunch break AND when I returned to the room after a long day. This happened every day. They said the card/s were programmed for the length of my stay. I will avoid this property in the future. Oh, no heat in the room with wide variations of nightly temps. The wall A/C unit has a heat switch or mode but did not work. I had to heat the room with the bath heat lamp.
The greeting at the front desk was exceptional. She made me feel very welcome and encouraged me to expand my experience by taking part in some local activities. The room was very large and added to the comfort of my stay.
If you're looking for friendly and professional service for a quick trip, this hotel is clean and conveniently located right off the highway exit. Free breakfast and Wifi. I would recommend this hotel.
If you love sleeping on plywood or stone here is your place! Very stiff and hard beds and pillows. Room is clean but there ad of a kitchen in every room is a bit exaggerated. It only means the typical mini fridge and microwave. No tub, just a small corner shower in a small bathroom. Staff was friendly and breakfast was a bit above continental.
Enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Bennington. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast although there isn't really enough room for everyone. Location is not ideal but okay. Staff was great and the room was clean and comfortable.
We booked online through booking.com. It was 134.10 plus tax for a non smoking 2 queen bed room. It was an older room, which didn't bother me but when I pulled back the bedspread to check out the linen it was obviously slept in without being cleaned. Lint and hair noted on the fitted sheet. Yuck. Fortunately the other bed "appeared" clean. It S quiet, but Not worth the money.
Not a bad hotel, but road noise is noticable, but quiets down after 11pm. Internet was horrible. It barely worked. breakfast was just okay. Nothing was hot, just barely warm. Convenient location. Room was clean, but a musty smell lingered. AC was noisy, waking me each time it switched off. Not a bad place, but not a great place. I might stay there again if nothing better was available.
we have stayed here a couple times and would again. great place, great value, great staff. would recommend for anyone passing through the area. breakfast included is a great benefit xoxoxoxo xoxoxoxox xoxoxoxox
Most rooms are on first floor and are large. It was so quiet here, even though on a main street and our back window looked out onto a shopping center. Bed was so comfortable, sheets too, and pillows were not too plump. Breakfast had all the things we like, even home-style oatmeal with plenty of things to put on top. Staff was friendly and helpful, on phone and in person. They kept the breakfast area clean and replaced food items continuously. The pre-cooked egg rounds were a little rubbery and too salty. The handicapped rooms are better equipped than some hotels, including bars everywhere they were needed in the bathroom. Room #140 has a walk-in shower (no tub), which made it so helpful for my father who uses a walker. Room #141 is a handicapped room, but has a tub instead of walk-in shower. Close to everything in Bennington and on the road north out of town to the rest of your travels in Vermont. Room rates seemed a little high for the area (maybe because of foliage season?), but the quality of sleep, good breakfast and location made it worthwhile.
I come to Bennington, VT fairly frequently as I have a daughter who attends Bennington College. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn near the school but decided to try somewhere new this trip. The BW turned out to be a very nice hotel and a much better value. Room was clean and recently renovated, staff was nice and breakfast quite good. Will definitely stay here on my next visit.
good location; the breakfast was good...tv reception was terrible; and the internet was terrible /awful...so hard to get it to connect; and then when it would connect, it took forever to make things appear; and many times when we did connect ; it would die right in the middle of using it...the staff did not offer any help; no new room...really needed the internet that night; at least the bed and linens were comfortable...oh, and the bath tub plug did not work; for a family member who needs to soak due to pain, it was useless too...this was probably a motel with its "heyday" in the 1980s or so; it should be overhauled if you ask me
The staff went way above and beyond to make our stay a very positive experience. This older facility is in better condition than some new motels I have stayed in recently. Very good value for the cost.
hotel has been recently updated rooms are spacious and well kept. staff is extremely accommodating. Hotel is located in the middle of everything in bennington easy to get to and from everything. the staff was great with my kids and made it an awesome experience for them and myself.
Old style motel with parking right outside your front door which I really like as a motorcyclist. Updated clean large rooms. Front desk provided rags to clean off motorcycle. Breakfast was adequate with the normal offerings of eggs bacon waffles etc.
The room we stayed in was an old outdated room that smelled musty. After spending 15 minutes looking for the room because it was in a part of the hotel that wasn't part of the other rooms, the smell from the room hit me in the face as soon as I walked in. The room appeared to be clean but the pictures on the website are for the updated rooms. The bathroom was extremely small with the toilet, shower, and sink all stuck in a little room. The parking area could use more lighting and more cleaning. The breakfast area was very small and hard to get around but the strawberry waffles were great. Overall, this hotel was not worth almost $200 for one night. Our trip consisted of staying in 9 different hotels and this was the worst one by far especially for the price. A room of this caliber should not be priced over $100.
Check in was a breeze, friendly staff & informative. Lobby was nice and clean. The room was clean, bed comfy. We only stay 1 night because we were traveling. But, I would stay here again. Great location, near everything.
I would rate this hotel as average.. The flower beds outside our room were full of chicken bones and cigarette buts. The tissue box in the bathroom was almost empty like most hotel rooms and we ran out in the morning while my wife was putting on her makeup.
If you are visiting the town of Bennington, this hotel is great for you. Located close to Walmart, Price Chopper, a bowling alley and an ice cream stand. Also, Pizza hut and a short distance to all historical sites.
Clean as a whistle and the staff was fantastic. Great location and decent value for the money in this area. The bed was comfy. We were in a room with a back window facing a strip mall so we kept the windows shut. The room was a bit stale smelling - not terrible, but some ventilation would have helped. Breakfast was decent. We would stay there again. The staff really made the place feel special.
This is a 50s motor lodge recently taken over by Best Western and remodeled. The rooms are spacious and clean with new laminate and tile flooring. Tubs are all refurbished with granite panels. The amenities are spread out over a few buildings, so you have to go outside to get to breakfast, laundry and fitness center. The breakfast was decent. Lot of choices from hot eggs and meat to cereals and assorted breads and pastries. Fruits and nuts available for mixing with yogurts. Free Wifi is decent as well.
I stay at the Best Western in Bennington fairly often as it is close to the Vermont Veterans Home where my father resides. The hotel is basic, clean and reasonably priced. The staff members are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast has items even a gluten free person can eat.
We booked a non-smoking room. We opened the door and instantly smelled stale cigarette smoke. The AC was not turned on and it was 81 degrees outside which made the smell seem intensified. Not real happy about that.
This was our second time at his location in 5 years and found it to be very handy to nearby restaurants and museums of VT and MA. We were offered a larger suite with a spa and the room was spacious. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to use the spa, which looked very inviting.
I had a corner suite with a whirlpool bath; very nice after being on a motorcycle all day. The room was large, clean, but spartan. It could use some more pictures or posters. The Wi-Fi was a very slow; there are probably parts of this spread out motel that could use Wi-Fi boosters. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was okay but heavy on carbohydrates and fat. There could be more fresh fruit, plain yogurt, and healthy cereals at this price point.
Stayed over a Saturday night for nearby wedding of my Nephew. It appears that BW Bennington has been newly updated. Room was clean, and had all amenities. Coffee maker, iron, wifi, safe, air-heat, HD tv, parking outside door, very comfortable bed, was quiet, fridg, microwave. Price reasonable for a Sat nt. Staff pleasant and attentive.
This a vey clean, hence 3 stars older hotel, we did not have wifi and the breakfast was nothing special. It was quiet, we had an end unit and the location is good but the room was small and was updated but still a 50s style hotel. We paid a hefty price because of summer season and we booked later than we usually do. Still we stay at many Best Westrns and compared to the one in Sayre, PA this was not even close and we came from there!
We stay in many Best Westerns. This one over all was okay. The room was not up to date on the décor. A bit on the older side and worn, but it was just... okay. Didn't use the breakfast service but did go by to grab some fruit. A little small, but it did look as if it did have all the basics.
Selected the BWB based on TA reviews. Pretty good stay. On walking into the room discovered it smelled very musty but got used to it pretty quickly. The lady at the front desk gave me the wifi code but it was absolutely useless to us. Had NO signal in our room (#123 at the far end of the property). Found a handy key though. Thought if funny that if we had a craving for a can of sardines in the middle of the night and the key from the can was missing, the nice folks here provided one for us! Would have given them 3 stars but the incredibly nice and helpful morning ladies at the front desk and in the breakfast room were just so wonderful that I had to give them another star. Recommended (unless wifi is critical to you)
The staff was very friendly and the room was nice and clean. We were able to check in early after a long drive. Our hotel room had a great view of the monument. Bathroom had a jetted tub. It was a nice, relaxing place to stay.
Was there for a basketball tournament with the team and families, it was a good experience the rooms were clean the pool was nice and it was easy to navigate around for shopping eating an overall great experience
This is a typical small-town motel, but better than most. The reception are is small, but the facility has a small business center, a fitness room, a conference room and a large outdoor pool. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was surprised by our room - it was more spacious than any room we've stayed in recently. We had two queen beds. But what we really appreciated were the two upholstered chairs in addition to an office chair for the desk. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom adequate. The room had a refrigerator, microwave and a safe. The furnishings were updated and attractive. Our particular room, on the first floor, had a sliding door to an outside patio. It was very quiet. I would definitely book this motel again.
The front lobby was very clean, the front desk check in was very smooth The lady was very cheerful, made you feel like you were really welcome and she was happy to see you! The pool was clean, easy access to pool towels, The room was very clean. Some rooms were getting worked on, so the hotel is updating!
last-minute getaway stayed here before. Great accommodations. Great breakfast. Well appointed rooms and quiet. Nice pool but we didn't get a chance to use it. King bed very comfortable. Plenty of tv channels too.
The room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. The staff had placed towels on our motorcycles before we awoke so that we could wipe down our motorcycles. We will definitely be staying at this Best Western again.
I had hoped this hotel was closer to Bennington center but for those looking for a stopover near the highway, it would be convenient. There's a pool. The breakfast buffet had the freshest bagels. Our room was on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator. It was in the back behind the gym so parking wasn't convenient either. There is a deck that run along these rooms so the slider in your room opens up to the deck which had chairs and tables. If you're traveling with a group, this could be a plus. I generally sleep with a window open if possible, so this wasn't an option. Oh, the rooms have adjoining doors; again a perk if traveling with a group. The only thumbs down was the room wasn't available when we arrived at 3pm. We were told they would call us when it's available. 90 minutes later there was still no call but the room was ready.
This was my first night stay on a driving tour of the Canadian Atlantic provinces and my first time ever in the state of Vermont. I had an upper floor room with a great view of the Bennington Battle Monument. The room was clean and had been remodeled. The only drawback was the small closet space. Big enough for clothes, but not quite deep enough to handle my travel bags without setting them sideways. Perhaps some additional hooks anchored to the wall (in the room) would be good to have. There is a Walmart and a nice pizza restaurant within walking distance. I had trouble finding the hotel at first, so I called and was directed in by a friendly staff member. Breakfast was great. Would definitely stay again.
We used a handicapped room. It was neat as a pin. Everything was impressively clean. The walk in shower was wonderful. We found the beds to be extremely high, especially for a handicapped room. We had a lot of trouble getting WiFi. It had a lovely pool. There were a lot of choices at breakfast. The front desk person was very kind. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
I was on the road trip and was booking hotels as I go after quick reviews on the travel advisory app. Right away upon calling to reserve the room the staff was awesome! Friendly, helpful and even gave me a discounted rate! Upon a later arrival, she was even willing to keep the pool open and had no problem with me washing laundry later. There was a couple vending machines and a weight room with a treadmill, elliptical and a decent 3 station trainer (arms, legs etc). The room itself was outstanding! The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the room even had 2 chairs, a patio deck area with a metal table and 2 chairs. We went over the fourth weekend and even had a view of the fireworks from our deck area. I loved that the bathroom had separate switches for the light, fan and the heat lamp especially since we are all light sleepers. Breakfast included the usual donuts, bagels and toast, a couple cereal choices, a waffle maker. They also had eggs. sausage patties and bacon. All good with sides of red devil, peanut butter, nutella and jelly. Trying to be detailed here, so I hope this all helps. The hotel itself was located directly across an awesome ice cream place which also served delicious smelling food, and it was practically next door to a grocery store and a Wal-Mart. After a brief tour of the city, it was great. Small town, friendly. I will definitely stay at this hotel again if i ever pass through and i highly recommend it!!
I would recommend everyone to stay there. Drier took a long time to dry cloths but it was ok.the employees are nice. Great location to everywhere. Great places across and behind the motel. Very clean place and very relaxing and quiet.
Front desk staff very friendly, accommodated early check in and helped me with BW travel cards. Room and wifi were both good. Breakfast was excellent. Close to Price Chopper and Walmart. Have stayed here for the last 3 Solid Sound Music Feativals and would definitely return.
Right next to 24-hour grocery. Also Wal-Mart (not 24 hours) and close to McDonalds (yes 24 hours). No, not the finer things in life, but in a pinch, you have to appreciate the convenience. Very helpful and friendly staff, and close to Hemmings Motor News and other Bennington attractions. There are probably cheaper motels in town, but I suggest saving your $ by shopping at Wal-Mart instead.
I have stayed here 6 times over the past 3 1/2 years varying from 1-4 nights each visit. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. Linens in order. Internet works great. A/C is ice cold. Outdoor pool is well maintained. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Views are great. Shopping plaza next door. Great food across the street. Just a few blocks from monument. So location is great. Love the free breakfast, especially the waffles and local donuts. Never used the fitness center but have went into it and it seems nice. If you are all fancy pants and expect fine dining room service or chocolates on your pillow, this isn't the place. If you are a normal everyday family that wants a clean pleasant environment then it gives you every cent worth of room rate.
The breakfast was pretty bad. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The motel is quiet and has good eating places with in walking distance. I must mention that there was a problem with some of the housekeeping staff. A bit sketchy and asking for tips....This has never happened to me before
Charged way too much for an old room. Air conditioner in the wall, bathroom door blocked the air flow. Expected better from Best Western. Bed was comfy. Room was clean, no ventilation in bathroom. Never again
Over two months in advance I booked two rooms for last Sat night. Check in is 3 p.m. and we didn't get there until after 4 or 4:30. Our rooms were not ready and we had to wait. The receptionist was pleasant enough and we sat in the comfortable lobby and were patient. Then it turned out the ice machine did not work and we had to get ice from the restaurant. We were patient about that. I am handicapped enough that i requested and was promised a first floor room so that I would not have to climb stairs. I had even called to double check on this. Yet that is not what they had for me. Perhaps this could have been fixed but we did not have time to wait any longer because a commitment awaited. I will say that the bed was very comfortable and that the breakfast looked quite good but we ate just a muffin because we were having brunch later. This should have gone better. The motel looks nice enough and clean enough. The receptionist was pleasant. I wish I could give it a better rating.
Small outdoor patio by grassy area was a nice feature. Decor is a bit dated but the Veda's comfortable, everything in the room worked and the staff was very helpful. Ask for a room at the back that faces away from the highway.
First time we stayed in Bennington but will certainly stay again. Two-storey motel with plenty of parking and a mall with a pizzeria, Walmart and grocery store just behind. Thanks to Maria (front desk) for a very pleasant check in. She made dinner suggestions and printed out maps as well. Rooms were comfortable with usual amenities (microwave, coffee maker and fridge). Vending machines near work out area although more options and better prices at mall.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. Not overly, just right! And the room was just perfect for tired "senior" travelers. This motel is located close to NY expressway and very easy to get to. Will stay again next year.
Over the past 4 years, my family and I have been staying here while visiting our son who was a student at Southern Vermont College. It is the only place we stayed. The staff are wonderful. I would especially like to thank Jackie and Nicole for taking care of us. They were very accommodating with all our craziness!!! When a group of us would be up, and it was easier to order some pizzas for dinner, we were always welcome to gather in the breakfast area to eat together. Your kindness and generosity made our visits so much easier. We cant thank you enough.
Thanks Best Western for another great sleep, as the clock gets close to 7 pm we start looking for a Best Western, this is where we get, great everything. Thanks for being everywhere. and never far away. Close to the highway.
Wi-Fi internet service did not work at all in the room; it was hit or miss in the lobby. The mattress sloped in that it was higher at the foot of the bed than at the head, and was uncomfortable to sleep in. It was ok for the price but I probably would stay someplace else if my stay was longer than one night.
Great accommodations for handicapped guests. Rooms were large and friendly to move around with a cane or wheelchair. Breakfast was awesome! Fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, waffles, eggs and sausage, toast and danish, coffee and juice. What more could you want? Staff was very friendly and helpful to ensure a safe and comfortable visit.
We made our reservation a month in advance, and requested a handicaped accessable room. At arrival they did not give us one and told us they were totally booked. There were less than 6 cars in the driveway. The internet service was weak, and we could not use our computers. We complained, and were simply asked if we wanted to make reservation for our next vist, as we stay in Bennington once a month in the summer.
We stay at this hotel frequently for one night as a Friday night stopover on ski trips. The staff is always helpful and the rooms are very good basic and comfortable places to spend the night. Great value for the price
had to stop in Bennington due to snow storm. This was a very nice hotel with a large inviting room, an easy chair (which I appreciated) in clean surroundings. People were real nice to deal with. enjoyed the stay and would recommend
We needed a room for an overnight for 3 adults near the hospital. This BW is less than 10 minutes away. The room was large, clean and well lit. The beds and pillows were very comfy. Breakfast was very good considering it came with the price of the room - there were make your own waffles, eggs, bacon sausage, cereal, assorted toaster items. I've been to much pricer (and more upscale) places in the area and the continental breakfast was just barely there. BW's was substantial. For the price and what we needed, it could not be beat!
Great little spot!!! Room we had had a couch which made relaxing after a long trip very comfortable. There was a Walmart within walking distance, and great views of the foothills. Coffee hit the spot also!!!
I traveled to Vermont last weekend with a group of 6. We had a wonderful stay at this motel. The rate was excellent...it was close to rt. 7 and 7a...the breakfast was just what we needed and the staff was friendly. The rooms were good size. We had 3 rooms all with adjoining doors. Great for a ladies weekend! Our rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.
When we made our reservations last winter, this was a Best Western Plus; since then, it has been downgraded to just Best Western, and we could certainly understand why. The rooms need a refresh of all fabrics – bed coverings, curtains, upholstery, and carpet. With age, fabrics take on odors, and it's just time to change these. Otherwise, the room appeared to be as clean as housekeeping could make it. The room was comfortable with king bed, sofa, desk, TV, and luggage rack. The bathroom was clean too. Breakfast was in a small space for the number of guests, but everyone considerately moved through the room trying not to keep others from their desired options. I must remark that the Best Westerns had the best waffles of any chain hotel on our trip. Hot and cold items were available as well as coffee and juice. We found enough nourishment to start the day. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The ice machine was broken, but no one ever seemed put out when guests requested ice. They had to fill the guest bucket from the kitchen which added work for them. The Best Western in Bennington was ok for a one-night stay on the road. For the price we paid relative to the area, the value was fine. I was very happy that my request was honored for a room with no room above it.
Very good facilities, including laundry. Breakfast was good, too. The room was rather basic, but clean and comfortable. Quite convenient for visiting the local attractions, such as the Museum and the Battle Monument.
We didn't have a big expectations for this hotel both when booking it and first driving up but it is a very good hotel. The room was nice and clean as were reception and the breakfast area. We thought there would be a good deal of noise due to the Price Chopper behind it but that was ok. Breakfast in the morning was awesome. We could not have asked for anything more.
While customer service was fine, our room reeked of smoke, and I used to smoke and am not sensitive, but this was gross! Further the room was dated and the bathroom was grotty. I realize it is not a five star hotel, but in this day and age one would at least expect a non-smoking room to not smell like an ash tray. Unfortunately, we arrived late and before I realized the state of the room it was too late to make changes.. would not recommend.. at least not the room we stayed in
We stayed for one night at this hotel. The front desk staff was polite and attentive. The room was clean and quiet with a well working AC. They provide a breakfast buffet in the morning with a waffle maker. Can't go wrong with a waffle maker! All in all, not a bad place to stay.
There aren't very many motels to choose from in Bennington Vermont. This particular property is very old and in dire need of updating. It reminds me of the old motor lodge style motel back in the day. The mattresses squeaked and were worn out and not conducive to a good nights rest. Furthermore, when the toilets were flushed it sounded like an explosion going off in the bathroom. During the night the guests on the second floor probably flushed five times, waking me each time. And then there was the traffic noise. Our room was less than 50 feet from the main roadway in front. Even with the air-conditioning or heater running and a table top fan, we could still hear the traffic. The breakfast area is extremely tiny; so tiny in fact that we did not bother to use that service. Again it looks like this breakfast area was an afterthought and not part of the original plan.
We often stay at Best Westerns in other cities. This was set up more as a Motel with separate outside entrances to each room. One needed to walk outdoors (mostly under covered porches) to get to breakfast. Nicole at the desk was very helpful and efficient. We had a view from the porch over the buildings of the monument in bennington. The room appeared to be clean, unfortunately this motel still uses bedspreads as opposed to the layered sheets with a strip of decorative fabric. I am always a little nervous about bedspreads, because I am concerned that they may not be washed after each guest. Unfortunately my fears were realized when I pulled back the spread and found some type of crusty residue on the underside of the bed spread. Nicole was right on it, she had to leave the desk and go to the laundry but she came to our room quickly with a clean bedspread.
I did not actually stay at the Best Western but wanted to provide a favorable comment for the way they handled a reservation I failed to cancel. I noticed that there was a charge to my credit card and found that I had failed to cancel a reservation. I called the hotel about one hour after the time to cancel and ask if they could provide any relief on the one night charge for not showing for a guaranteed reservation. The next day I received a call that they were only going to charge me a late cancellation fee much less than one night's stay. They legally did not have to do this and I appreciate that they cared enough about a customer to minimize the penalty for not canceling a reservation. Thanks Best Western of Bennington
We stayed at this best western during a family trip from New York to Boston. We are a 4 people party, we stayed in a room with 2 quinn beds. The room was spacious, the beds were big enough for 2 people and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful, the breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay and recommend this place to others.
This was a nice hotel but the breakfast area was crowded. Yes they have another room to sit and eat which was helpful. If you are looking for creamer for your coffee it's under the counter.by the waffle machine. All and all the hotel is nice. It's not a pet friendly hotel.
As a one stop sleep over, this was fine. Receptionist booked me in although we early. Grab n go breakfast was not available although had specifically asked for. Walmart and some other type shops directly behind n a couple of fast food stops walkable but car needed to access main restaurants. Bit tired in places but clean n tidy.
The receptionist was very nice and I realize she was just the messenger...because this was "leaf" season in Vermont they hiked the room rate to $250.00/night for an old hotel, old, tired room with a jacuzzi that did not work. Normally I would not pay those prices for mediocre accommodations but we were tired and hungry. I was certainly put off by gigging the tourists....
We have stayed at the Best Western a few times, but its been about 3 years since our last visit. The décor and facilities are definitely getting old. We stayed in the upstairs rooms this visit and it just wasn't up to standard. The room had that old musty smell and the Recliner looked like it belonged on a front porch of a broken down back woods homestead. Breakfast was good and the room was clean, I just don't think its worth the money when there are other alternatives in Bennington.
The motel desperately needs updating...an old style motor lodge type motel set right on the road next to Wal-mart...not really very Vermonty. We had wanted to stay closer to Main Street, but this was the closest hotel. The front desk staff was nice, but overall it was rather dumpy...wouldn't stay here again.
This motel is within walking distance to many restaurants. The room that I slept in, had a king-size bed. Breakfast is served in the lobby, and there is also a gift shop in the lobby. I also sat on the porch.
Very little good food. But, if you like sweets for breakfast, I guess it's acceptable. The air conditioner had to be on all night duet humidity and was very loud. It never powered down. The room was clean but don't expect much else.
Sometimes hotels just get it right and this property does. The check in was easy and pleasant, and the room was clean and well appointed. I was upgraded to a suite and, upon finding the room, noticed the room next door had 4 lively teenagers in it. I returned the front office and asked for another room, a request that was promptly granted. Much appreciated! Breakfast had a nice selection. I booked the property primarily because the pool was still open. Water was fairly warm and there were ample chairs and tables for sitting and reading. Checkout went well. No complaints!
Room was good, bed comfortable, everything worked as it should. Breakfast area was clean, food choices varied and quality was excellent. Pool area well-kept, water clean and nice temperature. Staff were courteous and professional, Maids saw us leave for breakfast and leaped into action - our room was done by the time we returned within the hour. This is a clean nice hotel. The people are very friendly and helpful. We staied a week and did not have any issues. I gave a 5 do to the people mainly. Again the rooms are clean i would stay here again
We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Bennington. The room was comfortable and parking near it was easy to find. The room was spacious enough for our family of four. We especially liked the pool which was decent sized and easily accessible. It was thoroughly enjoyed after a long day of driving. We also liked the location of the motel in that there was an ice cream stand and Dunkin Donuts right across the street. We stayed for just one evening on our way to Maine but we enjoyed our stay in Vermont at the Best Western Bennington.
We needed a place to stay for a night en route from New Hampshire to home in Maryland. We were there only briefly, arriving at 9 pm and leaving the next morning by 8 am. The room was surprisingly large. We had two queen beds and a couch, enough space for our family of four. The extra sink outside of the toilet/shower area was a nice touch, allowing one family member to brush his/her teeth while another showered. The breakfast was fine, with yogurt, eggs, toast, danish and the like. We didn't use the pool or the exercise room but they looked clean and fine. My only negative: the room was a bit pricey for a Best Western..we usually spend less than $130 a night.
Very nice hotel, room and property was kept very clean. Very nice solar heated pool. My only complaints were that the Breakfast was not quite up to the usual fare that I have had at other Best Western hotels, and the Mobile Phone service was quite inadequate.
The Staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was great and everything was in perfect working order. Should we return to the area we would definitely stay again. WE will recommend the hotel to anyone travelling in the area.
Spent one night here and will stay here again if in the area. Accommodations were nice, staff was nice, Breakfast and seating were a disappointment. However, their recommendation for supper was great.
Staff very friendly and complimentary breakfast selections very good. Room spacious with frig, desk and recliner. Room clean and comfortable but time for pillow refresh - flat and firm Close to covered bridges and short ride to downtown. Older hotel but well kept.
Best Western Bennington is a nice hotel and I enjoyed having a nice view of the monument that is just outside of town. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the breakfast is tasty. The front desk staff was ok, very business-like, no frill.
We got a good night's sleep in a comfy bed. Large room, and no complaints about the cleanliness. We enjoyed a dip in the outdoor pool. Standard breakfast, well stocked with good coffee. Would stay again.
This is an older motel but the room was remodeled and clean. Had a frig and microwave and comfortable beds. The women at the desk was very helpful trying to find directions to a restaurant I was looking for. Enjoyed staying in a park at the door motel instead of a hotel for a change.
The hotel is selling this room as a suite. They are charging top dollar for a room with a small Jacuzzi tub and a shower that is no bigger than ones in RVs. The toilet was basically in a closet. Other than having additional space in the room, there were no special amenities in order to warrant the charge or calling it a suite.
I'm partial to Best Western for its value, but the Bennington BW disappointed on aesthetics. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, but it looked like a mom-and-pop motel -- maybe a Travelodge -- that had snuck into the chain without meeting the usual criteria. Rooms were painted overly bright colors, breakfast room was half the size of usual. No interior halls. Everything else was up to snuff. Nothing really bad, but for the same # stars, I'd try another chain up there.
Give this place a rate of 10 plus it was a beautiful place with a king size bed, a pool to swim in and a great tv... we had great customer service by all of the staff there... Very helpful.. I would stay there again.. A market price chopper around the corner and walmart also to shop at lower taxed charged Lower gas price to fill up on.. Great food in the morning a full breakfast ... U name it we had it there...
This place could use for more smiles, but It's a wonderful spot and was pleasantly surprised at the size of our room for the price paid. We were expecting a room with 2 queen beds the typical hotel room and this place had extra floor space and included a pullout loveseat with coffee table. It was double the size of a normal room.
We have stayed at this hotel many times both with and without the Harley and enjoyed every one. Good breakfast and comfortable beds. I believe they remodelled in the last year or two and improved all the rooms. Great deal for the money.
We stayed for one night. The bed was comfortable, the staff very friendly & the rooms were very clean. Breakfast was free. It was very good & there was a nice selection to choose from We're staying there again on our way back home. Would definitely recommend!
I stayed with my family for one night. I had read the reviews and they were spot on. The rooms were very clean, beds are comfortable, large rooms! The location is in walking distance to a pizza place, ice cream shop and can walk over to Walmart. The views are beautiful surrounding the hotel with giant mountains. The front desk is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was very tasty and constantly being replenished. There was just one problem, the wifi was terrible. Despite that I would definitely stay there again.
Stayed here two nights with 4 other couples on a motorcycle trip. Very clean, very friendly and helpful staff, and all the amenities you need. Fridge, microwave, safe and coffeemaker in room. Beds and pillows comfortable. Nice breakfast in the mornings. Quite a walk to downtown and Old Bennington but do-able. It rained while we were here but we dodged the rained and visited Hemmings Motor News auto display--free and well worth the visit. Bennington Monument very nice.
The room was clean and spacious! The grounds were quiet. The staff was friendly. My pre-teen boys loved the breakfast. I was happy to find soy milk in the refrigerator for my cereal and coffee. The staff was great at recommending places to see. The gift shop was cute and the Maple syrup was more affordable there than in other places.
The room was clean and well appointed. (Mini fridge and microwave) the grounds are pretty and quiet. There are picnic tables under shade trees. There is a dairy bar right across the street that serves ice cream and burgers. Also, a Walmart within a short walk. It's a bit pricey but there's not too many hotels around so that's to be expected. I had a nice stay.
this hotel is very well located for shopping and restaurants. It is a bit close to the road so there is some noise. The cleaning staff is good a bit pushy when trying to get in they do not give time they sit and wait or just knock on the door a few times. Most of the staff is very pleasant. there is one lady that is not very friendly and hardly smiles. the beds are very very comfortable. some of the rooms I have stayed in have a musty wet smell to them I have actually gone and bought spray to help the smell. Over all it is fairly good.
King bed was comfortable, great checkout staff. Coffee at Breakfast could have been stronger, my only concern. No issues, great location and AAA discount. Quiet, clean and large parking lot. My second stay at this hotel.
The hotel grounds were lovely, The landscaping was beautiful and there was an attractive pool area. There were also a couple of inviting picnic tables. Our room was on the small side, but beautifully decorated and furnished with all the essentials. Breakfast was fine. The price was higher than I usually like to pay for a night's lodging, but everything was so nice that I will definitely stay there again if I am in the area.
Had a very comfortable stay at this facility. The rooms are nicely set back from the road, are very roomy and nicely decorated. Comfortable all around. Hope to get back to Vermont again and will try to stay at this location one again.
The staff is very kind & friendly. They had me sign up for the Rewards program. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The free breakfast offers a nice variety. I enjoy staying here. It is a quiet neighborhood. The check in & out process is very quick & efficient.
I always return to BW for my annual business trip It is very conveniently located to college and downtown and shopping The rooms are very comfortable and I love the outside porch for summer evening reading I also enjoy the in-room refrigerator, good wifi, variety of food for breakfast, and fitness room Excellent value
Best Western Bennington Vermont is a great place to stay while shopping, dining and sightseeing in the area. Nicely done property with very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Have stayed here about a half dozen times and always satisfied.
We always stay here when we're in Vermont. Never a bad visit. I just wish they'd give you the full-size pillow again, don't like those little things. Don't mind doing these reviews, but not crazy when you tell me I have to have a minimum of characters.
The finest, cleanest and friendliest stay. Location is great and easy to reach. Rooms are clean and well furnished. We will gladly book with Best Western in the near future. Parking lot is also clean and well taken care of.
This hotel is not what I expected for a Best Western Plus. We were traveling with our infant. Our room was musty and smelled like smoke/cow manure. The guest next to us had his door and window open because his room smelled too. We requested to be moved and were told it was a smoking room previously, so they'd find us a room that had never been a smoking room. The next room still had an odor, but not quite as bad. It was in the evening when we had arrived and with the baby, we needed to settle in. The bed was generally uncomfortable. The pillows were small and the linens were not soft. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. The staff was mostly friendly. In the morning we called our booking website because we had 2 more nights on our reservation and I was worried about the odor and smoking rooms with my baby. Fortunately, our booking website was able to speak to the hotel and we had the option to cancel our reservation. When we did, the woman at the front desk wasn't very friendly and seemed upset we wanted to cancel and didn't want to find another room. She also gave us a bit of a hard time that we didn't try to get another room the evening before. Regardless, we only had to pay for the first night and our remaining reservation was cancelled. I would avoid this hotel if you can. It's old and needs updating. The rooms are pretty gross. Definitely not worth what they expect you to pay to stay there.
The hotel cancelled a reservation for 4 rooms made 11 months ago & confirmed 3 weeks ago for this Saturday...today. Graduation weekend and availability in the area is extremely limited. Plan ahead, but plan to stay somewhere else, even with CONFIRMED reservations.
We chose this place based on TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The room was quiet and comfortable, the staff friendly, the breakfast was good- and went until 10am which is nice when you're on vacation and want to sleep in once in a while. We would stay here again if in the area.
This was my second visit to Bennington and the lodging options are limited. Last time we stayed we at the Knotty Pine (see review) and we wanted to try something else this time. The rooms were very nice, clean, modern and had a good layout. The rooms size was average. The bed was comfortable with good linens. While the rooms doors are outside, the rooms were pretty quiet.. The breakfast area was clean and the food was better than expected. They even had some healthy options for breakfast. The staff in the breakfast area really hustled and kept the area quite nice. They even have a small work-out room which I used. While nothing special, it med the need. The location is also right across the street from an ice cream place which we did not try, but it had quite a crowd. The only negatives were the bath towels which were quite thin and rough and the front desk person spent quite a bit of time standing right outside the front door smoking away. While not a five star hotel, the accommodations were similar to the more expensive chains and I will definitely stay there again.
This is a super hotel for the price. Great staff, friendly and gracious owners. I wanted to look at other rooms for an upcoming family reunion, and the owners gave me keys to all the different rooms to check out on my own. The rooms are very big and it's super to have a fridge and microwave in every room.
Good place to stay. Bed was very comfortable. We booked the room with king bed and a recliner and both were great for sleeping. Quiet location in the back section. Nearby shopping, fuel, and attractions. Breakfast was very good.
Not worth the $100. per night, but nice room. The only negative was the easy chair in the room. It was gross. The staff was fine, the location is ok if you do not mind a wal-mart out back. But it was quite and seemed to be a safe location.
Next to any stores and not far from the downtown area. There is a large grocery store behind the hotel as well as a small Wallmart. Price Choppers is a great place to buy your Vermont maple syrup. It is one of the best hotels in the area. The staff is very friendly. There is an ice cream shop across the street.
A good value in a good location. The motel is close to Bennington College which was the destination for my trip to Vermont. The motel seems to be fairly new and in good neat condition. The breakfast was not fancy but perfectly good with a reasonable variety of choices.
We have stayed here on many occasions, Have never had any problems, Very Clean location and the rooms are very clean. The internet is good as I have had to work on occasions here, No problems with access to the internet. Good location with a few restraints and stores with a short location to the property, The breakfast is your usual continental breakfast, however everything was fresh and hot.
This was on e of the ten best hotel rooms we've stayed in. Clean, beautifully decorated, a superb mattress. The tub was a hydro-therapy tub (bubbles!!) There was a microwave, coffee maker, fridge, free WiFi, free breakfast the next morning. The free breakfast had a great variety of choices from fresh fruit to sausage and eggs, waffles, yogurt, tea and coffee. I'm sure there were many other amenities but these were the ones we used.
I visit my family several times a year in Bennington. My mother is in a nursing home there. This property is convenient to Albany International and The Vermont Veteran's Home and has all the amenities I need. It's nice that the staff remembers me and always makes me feel welcomed.
Friendly staff, easy parking, great location, and clean, comfortable rooms. Great value. Bennington is a friendly, cute town with great shops, rich history and great colleges. I travel there for business but enjoy the town during my down time.
We've stayed at this BWP many times before though not for a long stretch. This was the best stay here that we remember. The staff is very professional and friendly. The room is clean and quiet. Access is easy from VT-7 which is a gateway highway to many Southern and Central VT ski mountains. Perhaps it was the very lousy ski conditions to date, the amount we paid for our room, considering you are right in Bennington with very good access to skiing was a great value. You would easily pay more in Brattleboro or Rutland, the other two main "cities" in Central/Southern VT. Breakfast was good with all the usual fair. Nice that they keep reg/decaf coffee hot and ready at all times in an accessible commercial coffee machine (versus insulated carafes that most hotel clerks let run dry or cold outside of breakfast hours.) Parking is sufficient and free. High speed i'net and a good TV were appreciated. We were entertained by Hillary, Bernie and who? O'Malley between our days of skiing Stratton Mtn. It's a bit better than no-frills, but we will be staying there again the next VT ski trip. Just hoping for some snow up there. Gosh knows we just got enough - 30 inches in Gillette, NJ where we could easily have lived without anything >3"! If you appreciate my review please vote as such. Thanks for reading.
Our room was nice, but the layout of the buildings was awkward. Difficult to carry luggage through multiple doors. Breakfast was good, but room was too small to handle the large group of folks who were there at the same time.
Nice room, has everything needed, quaint downtown. Staff was friendly everything was clean and well kept. I would stay here again. Only thing I would change in the room I had was that the TV could have been larger for the size of the room
We stayed at this Best Western for a quick get-a-way over Christmas. It was clean, easy to get to, good breakfast and had a very small gym, which I liked. Courteous people at check-in and check-out. They gave us directions to our dinner reservations . . would highly recommend this Best Western.
I was not impressed with this room. The bed was dirty. The in-room recliner was a goodwill hand me down. The room smelled awful. The noise would wake a corpse. I did not stay, I just left and drove home at 1am. I will not stay at this location in the future. I will go to another hotel.
My daughter goes to Bennington College and the Best Western New Englander Motor Inn is ideally located for both a visit to the area as well as easy access to the college. Friendly, professional staff, great hot breakfast and perfect location make this a great choice when visiting Bennington or touring South Western Vermont.
So my teenagers and I stopped overnight here on a recent trip. I was quite pleased, the staff was pleasant and the room was clean and quite roomy. The hotel was very easy to find even though we arrived late at night. And the breakfast that was included was fine...they had a waffle maker which is always a plus in my kids book.
This is an awesome place to stay when, if like me you live in southwestern Massachusetts, you just want to have a night or two to yourself. There's the Battle Monument you can visit and it has an obelisk you go up in (seasonal); a year-round museum; if you want something to eat or drink a paper to read, there is a 24-hour supermarket next door and a pair of convenience stores half a mile away. Plus, Bennington is just great for walking or biking around.
The room was good sized and quiet as well. We slept so well in their king sized bed. It was SO comfortable! Best night sleep in weeks - far better than any bed & breakfast we stayed at. The shower had great water pressure and the refrigerator didn't even make a sound!! A wonderful view from our room window of the Bennington Monument, which is breathtaking. A MUST SEE for anyone in the area.
Pleasant stay. First time in Bennington area. Found on the Trip Advisor app. Also a first. Quiet room toward back of property. Breakfast was the usual. Not sure how it would work with more people at the hotel as area is pretty small for number of units.
Had a great, much needed trip with my wife to Manchester, Bennington VT area and took in My 50th Class Reunion in Callicoon, NY. Leaves were great from Eldred, Pa to Manchester, VT on to Millbrook, NY and Callicoon, NY and back home to Pa.
The hotel looks better on the pictures. The room is small and dark. The space for brakfast is very small. In the morining I was woken up by voices of people talking at my window. Later I realised they were 2 people of the staff - receptionist? - out for a cigarette. Vey inconsiderate of them!
Check-in and parking were easy. Getting to our room was a bit odd. We parked in front on the door but then, with luggage, navigated two closed doors. We were told the room was upstairs, but we were up a half-flight. If we had been expecting a downstairs room, we would have been disappointed, as the "downstairs" rooms are a half-flight down. The grounds are pleasant, and breakfast was adequate. The evening desk clerk referred us to a lovely restaurant for dinner.
This is a fine Best Western in an excellent location in southern Vermont. Large rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is typical for a BW franchise, which means adequate but nothing spectacular. But we don't expect much from any hotel breakfast included with the room price, so we don't count it against any hotel, so long as there is something good for the kids (and there always is). We will definitely return to this hotel.
I spent 2 nights here on a recent Vermont getaway. The property is maintained well, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was ok and the room smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was a non smoking room with signs posted. These were the only negatives. I would probably return again.
My sister and I stayed at this Motor Inn from Sept.28th until Oct. 1st. The people were all very friendly but the bed was very soft. I have a back issue and I need a firmer mattress the mattress at the motor inn was NOT FIRM. The beds here also seem to be up higher than a regular bed. I had trouble getting my feet to hit the floor in the morning. My legs would dangle over the bed and that's not good for my back either. The other major issue was that the toilet paper roll in the bathroom was to the very right of the toilet. This was a problem because I couldn't reach for the toilet paper. Every time I tried to reach for something my back would tighten up and I was in pain. We ended up taking the toilet paper off the roll and putting it on the edge of the tub. All in all the very nice employees can't help the fact that the bed was too high and too soft for my back. If they had rooms with firm mattresses I might try to go back for one night but other than that I can not return to this hotel.
Specifically asked when making reservations if the hotel was smoke free. "Yes we are!". Checked in yesterday around 5 pm after traveling 13 hours. Opened the door, pushed the luggage in and left to go eat. Upon return and entering the room, the room clearly smelled of both old and fresh smoke. Opened the windows and the door, put the window AC unit on fan. Went to the front desk and reported the problem. Nothing else was available and was asked why I waited 3 hours to report it. Imagine that, no apology and criticized on the reporting time. All hotels were sold out due to family week at the college. I explained all of the above. Then asked for some deodorizing spray which was given to me and was told to bring it right back because it belonged to him personally. Upon return I asked for a credit to my bill for all of the above. I was told he couldn't help me. I asked if I could please speak to the manager. None present or available by phone to help him manage the situation. He told me the woman who checks me out tomorrow can help me. I asked for both the manager's name and check out person. He was reluctant to give a name. Autum helped me at check out. Again not much she could do. No manager on sight and none to reach by phone. I managed to get a 25% discount our room rate of $152. I was told we stayed in a section that use to be smoking. It is a obvious they still allow smoking and did a poor job of refreshing the rooms walls and such from years of smoke. Total disappointment all the way around.
We got decent value for our money here: clean, safe rooms with friendly staff and a Best Western breakfast. This property, though, isn't up to the quality we've come to expect from Best Western. The room was a bit shabby with a slightly musty smell, and the bathroom door would only close if you yanked on the door. The wall unit air conditioner was very noisy and switched on and off constantly, and the television is too far away to be comfortably watched from the bed or the couch. One strange moment: I tried to wash my hands around 2 a.m., but there was no water. The pipes sounded like they had air in them, but the water never arrived. It was fine the night before, and it was fine when we got up for the day (around 6:30 a.m.). The front desk clerk was very surprised to hear about the problem, but was concerned and promised to look into it right away. She did mention that another room had reported problems switching between cold and hot water.
room looked like it was recently updated. It was clean & comfortable & large (king room) The 1st night was perfect. A/C, TV, & shower terrific. Unfortunately, the 2nd night our hot water did not seem to work very well. It was late so we did not call for assistance. Friendly staff the continental breakfast was not that bad.
