    « 3* hotel, at best »

My gf and I booked for 2 nights, as arrived in Beijing at 3am Saturday morning and had a midnight flight same day (Sunday morning technically). Found the concierges asleep in front of reception, but as someone who works nights, I sympathise and dont think thats a problem. Our room was not good. The air con didnt work. When I say it didnt work, its not like it didnt turn on, when I put it on it stated the room temperature as 24 and so i set the temperature to be achieved at 20 and put the setting on cool and maxed out the flow. Listening to the unit flowing just fine, but couldnt feel any cool. So tired, and with it being late and the lack of English the staff had, we went to sleep and hoped it would start blowing cool air. By morning the room temp was 27, and the place was a sauna. I've used the same air con panel in 4 other hotels in China so far, so i'm confident the problem was not me. We had to open the door to let cool air in from the corridor. We awoke to find 2 large bugs behind the curtains (the windows were closed the entire time we were there), the carpet was dirty and the floor tiles were loose. The safe was locked shut and so unusuable, and the do not disturb button didnt work so we were woken. We tried to book transport to the airport 9 hours in advance of our flight as the poster at reception suggested free transport if requesting 4 hours in advance, but were told it wasnt available. The staff were friendly despite a lack of English and they arranged us a ride to the airport for 50¥ (about £6) and the place for us did a job. But not a 4* hotel

« I'm glad we only spent one night here »

As we needed somewhere to rest near the airport for our last night we ended up here. I'm not sure it was such a good idea. Check-in was a pain. The confirmation I'd got (booking through TripAdvisor / Best Western) said that my card would be charged before I travelled. Imagine my surprise when the hotel demand I pay the full amount before staying. t turned out that I hadn't, but I had to log onto my online banking to make sure that I'd not been charged anything. Getting a refund would be difficult after leaving the country. Once that was sorted they said our bags would be brought up to the room. 45 mins later and two phone calls to reception our bags still hadn't been brought up (we needed things from them), apparently because the person who does it was on an airport run. It wasn't until we asked if anyone else can do it that they sent someone else to do it. I should mention, if they hadn't offered to bring our bags up for us I'd have done it myself. You don't offer to do something and then not do it. Room service was also a bit of a problem. They didn't have the ingredients for what I wanted on the menu, then when we found something to eat we were told they couldn't bring it to our rooms because someone had a bad leg. We made our way down to the restaurant to find no other customers and several perfectly able-bodied members of staff. There seems to be a culture of "It's not my job" here, rather than putting customers first. The room itself was tired, scruffy and the carpet looked pretty filthy. The TV looked like it might have been out of date 15 years ago. I'd not seen an analogue TV signal in many years even in much cheaper hotels. When checking out things took a little longer than we'd expected and the shuttle bus driver was quite rude to my wife. This place does have a free shuttle bus service to the airport, so it did serve well as somewhere to rest before our flight back to the UK, but I wouldn't stay here again.

« No reservation, so you no stay here...(Yes I do) »

First off, I printed off the booking that I made with my corporate travel agency with the hotel address in Chinese. The taxi insisted that he had no idea where the hotel is.. and the RUDE taxi stand attendant just shouted at me to call the hotel for instructions. That's when the fun began... First off, when I called the hotel, the operator spoke no English (shocking that the hotel is advertised as an airport hotel).. and with my pidgen Chinese, I managed to ask her to tell the taxi driver the address. She then asked me if I had a reservation, to which I said yes. So gave her my name, and advised her that the reservation is for the night before because its past midnight when I arrived and was trying to get to the hotel. She then said that she could not find my booking. She couldn't understand my name - and it only has 3 letters in it. She asked who I booked with. So I said I booked through in USA. She then said, call them and not us. I asked to speak to the manager. She said all go home. I hung up and found the confirmation # (which is #120411703) and called again and spoke to another operator (apparently there's no one at the front desk).. who said that she can't check because all the computers are shut off. So I asked them to just tell the taxi attendant what the address is and I will sort it out upon arrival. To which she told me : "You no reservation, you no stay here". I was absolutely fuming at this point. I am a Diamond Best Western Rewards member and I have never been spoken to like that by anyone. And then the agent hung up !!! I decided to forgo my booking - and let Best Western deal with it and made a booking for the Sheraton instead... This is unacceptable. How can the hotel put people with zero knowledge of English or professionalism in your hotel? Avoid - or risk being told off.

« great value, clean room , good staff, convenient to airport »

I enjoyed the free shuttle to the airport however no english was spoken or understood by the driver. Early morning staff not as organized as the day staff. Rooms was excellent, clean, bed was comfortable, very close and convenient to airport.

« Nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. »

Stayed here for one night as I was in transit. I found the staff very pleasant and helpful. Room was very clean and modern. I also found it to be very quiet and slept well enough considering I had an early morning flight. There is a language barrier so I would suggest the traveler carry a common phrase book so it will go easier for you. Kind and friendly staff.

« Best Western is not that Western »

Stayed here in transit and only 30-40 rmb by metered cab from the airport. Comfortable and clean hotel. Managed to get through the language difficulties as very little English spoken despite being "Best Western". However very convenient as leaving by domestic flight early the following morning. Attached restaurant is good.

    « Good hotel »

Satisfactory level of the hotel standard, clean, spacious and nice room. However, location in a rather average area, far from everything. Staff tries very hard but sometimes problems with communication in English occur and that should not have happened.

« Good hotel but difficult to get to »

It is a nice hotel though not as nice as most BW in the U.S. The staff spoke limited English but tried to be helpful and we managed. The good part was their willingness to provide us with a boxed breakfast since we had to leave early. The problem was that no taxi would take us there. We did take the convenient hotel shuttle back to the airport. :)

« Big rooms and good location »

We stayed here for 1 night as we wanted a hotel close to the airport after arriving late in Beijing with a 2 and 5 year old in tow. I think we were horribly overcharged by the taxi driver (300rmb for a 5-10 min drive), but we were beyond tired and just paid it. The reception staff didn't speak much English, but we were each able to communicate all we needed, and they drew us directions to the train station I'm the morning. Our room was big, clean, and quiet, and we had no complaints. We paid extra for the breakfast buffet, and that was okay, although it ran out of a few things pretty early on. Staff were friendly, and we enjoyed our stay. It was a 10 minute walk to the train station in the morning.

« This must be your Beijing airport hotel!! »

I decided to treat myself after a three week business trip with a night here before I flew out. Can't begin to tell you how glad I am I did!! The hotel is about 12 minutes from the airport and if you tell them when you will arrive they will have a driver waiting for you. That's much better than other hotels. The hotel and rooms are amazing! Large, luxurious, and the beds are real beds, not the marble slabs most other hotels offer. They also included a nice breakfast buffet and can arrange transportation if you need to go somewhere. Highly recommend and I will stay here again!

    « Difficult for foreigners »

The Best Western Grandsky is not far from the Airport, however the airport taxi driver ripped me of and charged a fortune for this short ride... be careful! Arrived in the Hotel and Check in was a bit of a mess, since all the front desk workers hardly understood any english and their attitude was not helpful at all. They were not even able to answer the easiest questions like "Do you have a pool?" (They dont) or "Where is the breakfast room"? When my colleague checked in, he asked, if he can pay the room upfront, as he had to catch a very early flight in the morning, so he had to leave at 3 am and didn´t want to spend too much time on the check-out. The Lady at the check-in told him, he cannot pay upfront (in a kind of unfriendly way) and so he asked, if it is ok to check-out in the middle of the night and the answer was yes. Later he told me, when he finally stood there at 3 pm, noone was at the Counter. Then he found the Person who checked him in sleeping on a Sofa in the Corner, so he had to wake her up and she reacted aggressively and was grumpy all the time during check-out and even gave him a hard time to convience her to call a taxi for him. I think, it is just not a place for foreigners, maybe the chinese are used to such an attitude, I don´t know. Gave it 2 Points because the room was really spacious. But the Location isn´t nice and the staff is a disaster and absolutely not helpful.

« Close to airport and front to a green park »

It is one of the hotels if you are connecting flights with hainan airline and connection is longer than 6 hours. Clean and good service. I don't like the shuttle bus though. But hotel itself is quite and convenient. The room I had has a view of a green land.

    « I'll never go there again »

It should change many things. First of all it is not so close to the airport as indicated on the site. The rooms were unclean. The bathroom has a bad lighting. The smell of smoke the corridor. The low kindness of the staff, not even a word of welcome to a diamond member ... The staff sleeping on the sofas in the reception ...

« Good value in the Airport zone with a great restaurant »

Airport hotels tend to be uniformly lacking in any form of identity, but this hotel is great value, has cracking good beds and is within twenty minutes of the terminals. It is not perfect. The broadband is really narrowband, so that their free wifi is pretty well useless because Skype cannot get out! The organisation of the terminal buses leaves MUCH to be desired. However, the restaurant is great - I strongly recommend their smoked fish, braised cauliflower and their beef with chilli. The service was well above average as our waitress spoke pretty good English and her service was superb. As a transit hotel, this hotel is strongly recommended - but do make sure that you book your bus.

« The quietest business hotel »

As always, Beijing hotels are very hard to contact by email and to find even for a local taxi driver. This one is so close to the PEK that it'll cost you only 20-25 RMB to get to/from in 10 minutes. If you plan to visit China International Exhibition Center, this is only a 20-30 minutes' walk (there are longer and shorter paths). During the Fair(s) the hotel provides free shuttle bus to the nearest eponymous subway station. There's also free ride to the airport if you leave hotel before 2 pm. There are 3 shopping areas nearby with local supermarkets offering Euro sandwiches and fruits at a discount price, as well as fresh made bakery and ready-made Chinese food. At least 5 banks are located there, with the nearest - Agricultural Bank of China - in the adjacent hotel. 7 to 10 am breakfast is served by very polite staff (European bacon and eggs, fried rice, decent coffee with milk, fresh bread and butter, as well as wide assortment of local food and beverages). My room #6021 was clean (except for the carpet) and comfortable, with air con and net against mosquitoes on the window. The bathroom is very good (except for dim light) and has everything a busy traveler needs (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, lotion and shampoo, comb, clean towels, slippers, bathrobe, hair dryer). The bathroom wall is of course transparent:) The drawbacks: 1) TV set has 60+ channels in Chinese (+1 Asian News), 2) the mini fridge doesn't work (and it was +30 all week long), 3) my Visa card was rejected, 4) Wi-Fi was very unstable. Overall, I find it the quietest hotel for a visitor of any busy and chaotic Exhibition Center event (though there's some slight noise from the landing aircrafts). You won't be disrupted by any outdoor activity in the evening or during weekend. Concentrate on your work!

    « Always reliable »

The hotel is 15 minutes from the airport a consideration as our flight out was early We arrived on the 5.30am flight and our room was ready for us at 7.30am which was really appreciated We had a shower then went sightseeing They also have a free two hourly shuttle from 4am This unfortunately did not fit our schedule so we got a taxi Make sure you allow plenty of time as airport queues are long and as they are soooo security oriented it takes forever The hotel staff were efficient The room large and we even found an English speaking TV news programme Breakfast catered for all needs It is a 15 minute walk to the very efficient and easy to use subway and 5 minutes from the hotel we found a delightful restaurant We use Best Western often when travelling and so far have been delighted

The rooms are small, but comfortable. They carpets need to be cleaned, but the rest of the room was good. The attached restaurant was good with OK service and good food. The morning breakfast was poor and not worth the money. The shuttle to the airport leaves on the hour. It takes 20 minutes to Terminal three and 25 to Terminal two

    « Beijing Door Show »

We relocated from a comparative hotel as this one is far better located and quiter. Walking distance to transit and the exibition halls. Great little local retaurant area close by for some real authentic food. The service was excellent and clean, would recommend this in a heart beat.
