This was once a decent hotel when it was a Best Western a few years ago. I started to go back when Surestay took over, figuring since it was part of the Best Western family it would be of equal quality. WRONG. Staff isn't very friendly. Manager could care less about my concerns which I wrote in a review after I checked out. The room smells. Beds are lumpy and the sheets are old. Very disappointed as its right off the highway, they offer a cooked breakfast which is great and there is a Starbucks across the street.

The front desk person was so kind. The breakfast service with menu to choose was awesome. I really recommend it. In Bakersfield for the price, location and comfortable place this is the one. Beside of Crystal Palace of Buck Owens is really good.

There was A significant amount of mold in the bathroom above the shower, the furnishing was in disrepair, bed squeaked with any movement, shower was either scalding or freezing, the tub didn't drain (and it had floaters), and the TV was angled towards the ceiling.

Total deception. Asked for non smoking, but the room smelled like smoke. We could not get any hot water in the bathroom sink or shower. Called the front desk and spoke to Shantell she said she would call maintenance and have them come look. We waited for over 30 minutes, no maintenance. Called Shantell at front desk again, she said "oh yay let me call maintenance and call you right back".After another 15 minutes we heard nothing from front desk or maintenance. We called Shantell at front desk again and informed her we would e checking out, we got a credit receipt. 1 month later and many phone calls to hotel and BW customer service, still no refund.

I come through Bakersfield regularly for business and this is my favorite place to stay. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff are amazing and treat you like family! Breakfast is delicious and is included at the onsite cafe. Highly recommended.

We were in Bakersfield to your dad's old haunts where he grew up. We popped in to the Best Western, they were so helpful and had availability even at the last minute. The rooms were comfortable and they were able to set my dad up on the first floor. There was a big concert at Buck Owens and we heard nothing! It was great, they even included breakfast. We had a great experience everyone was so nice. Definitely would come back.

Over night stay was horrible, bed broken, no hot water for a shower, hotel clerks did not care! Great breakfast though at the junction, really good service and waitresses......... never stay here .....ever......

I was rather frenzied at check in due to a medical emergency with my travel mate that had escalated from bad to worse. Ms.Rose at c/i was very patient and professional with me. Later when I had an issue with the evening desk clerk, I found Ms.Rose and she again was very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was different than I expected, but a very nice setup with decent options and attentive staff.

On January 1, 2020 my grandson, friend and I booked two rooms at the SureStay.?Best Western in Bakersfield, California. Our first room the TV would not work or the internet. They moved us to another room which was flooded and smelled of mold. Finally late in the evening we were moved to a third room where there was no internet, the shower would not work, and there was an electrical short in the wall sparking in the bathroom. Several employees came to help, however, nothing was done. I asked to get my pillow next door in the room flooded. There was another man in there who was wondering whose pillow it was. They simply rented it to another person without cleaning. With no shower or sleep we finally left early without their breakfast. To my surprise he hotel charged me for the room even though the managers intervened. I called the health department, (not sure what they did) and the hotel repeatedly with no help. The last manager said the owner was off site and probably would not respond. Dirtiest, worse hotel I have ever been too. A Best Western Hotel too!

A friend turned us on to this hotel and we were very glad she did. The room was large, well-appointed, very comfortable and clean. Even though we had a delightful view of the parking lot, the room was surprisingly quiet. There is a bar and restaurant on the property and while we didn't personally take advantage, our friend said both are great.

My husband and I have stayed at this property several times. This was the first time since it became a Best Western property. Is now cleaned up consideribly. Even though property is a bit dated, everything such as rooms, lobby, etc it very clean Staff was outstanding. My key card didn't work and tv was on some funky mode, both times staff actually came to my toom to help. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.

I was disappointed in the care at Sure Stay. The water ran cold to hot during the shower, we had to ask for wash cloths everyday, the towels were thin, the food cold, and parking lot noisy. The bed was also too hard. Someone took an heirloom scarf out of my suitcase and when I reported the front desk clerk called me a liar.

We book on stay by way of cell phone and we pleased to find our accommodations were exceptional for the price! Staff were helpful and friendly, our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We woke up refreshed and ready to move on. The breakfast was very good - great coffee! Thank you so much for a wonderful overnight visit.

Worse hotel in Best Western Plus category. Water in shower needs a code required balancing valve, unless you love the water going from steaming hot to ice cold without touching a thing. Maybe you like being accosted in the parking lot by people looking for a date but it's not my idea of "safe and secure" place. Possibly you love old mattresses to sleep on, old carpet and filthy bathroom fixtures. Then this would be your best choice of a place to stay while paying $80.00 + per night. No heat in the room either as it did not work. Maybe I should have invited the man from the parking lot in to keep me warm.

"Oasis in the desert"

I've been staying at the hotel since last may on weekly business trips. The staff are always kind, friendly and professional. The court yard has plenty of greenery with mature palm trees encasing a beautiful pool and barbecue area.

"Lot of money for a rundown broken hotel"

Poorly up kept place. Staff was friendly and clearly they were not the source of the problem. Showers were cold or scalding hot, moldy grout, broken wall sockets - when replaced they replaced with Ill fitting parts and filled in with calking. Understaffed. For the money that we paid we should have stayed across the street and a better place!

I've used Best Western properties a lot for my business travels over the past few years, and I'm also very flexible about hotels. I joke that as long as it's relatively safe, doesn't smell bad, and has a functional wifi, I can make it work fine. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't work from my room for my entire stay. When I brought it up at the front desk after my first night, the only response I got from the young lady was, "I'm able to stream without any problems." I'm glad she was able to stream while working and I couldn't get the slightest wifi service for ME to try to do some work. There were no washcloths and only one hand towel in my room, but I was at least able to get those readily from the front desk. Unfortunately, my towels all seemed to have lots of small hair pieces all over them. There was some trash left in my bathroom when I first checked in. All the vending machines were either out of order or sold out. Then, when I decided to check out one day early to move to a different hotel for my last night, I was told I'd be charged a fee for checking out early, and it appears that fee was charged despite my complaints at checkout. This experience has made me question if I'll be staying at any other BW properties.

As soon as stepped out of my car someone was at my door begging for money. As you walk down the hall you can tell everything is falling apart. The room looks old with mold in the bathroom and springy beds. The room had an overwhelming odor Around 1 and 3 am there was loud yelling/cursing outside my window. Did not feel comfortable or safe.

We like this hotel as it is next door to the Crystal Palace. The breakfast could be a little better but it is okay. The rooms are clean. The jacuzzi is wonderful. The pool is a good size for swimming.

We selected this hotel for a quick overnight stop to breakup our Grapevine drive. Plus: diner breakfast included, nice grounds and NOT next to freeway so pretty quiet! Great price. Cons: There was NO toilet paper in our room and front desk was not able to bring any due to no other employees working in late/early morning hours. Beds didn't have quilts or blankets, only sheets, and no extra blanket. Lights in hallway were out so could barely find the room. Big wet spot on the floor by the heater/AC.

This place is understaffed, dirty, and not safe. People in the parking lot begging for spare change and our gas was attempted to be siphoned. The one receptionist on duty was overwhelmed the entire time. All 3 of rooms we reserved had a substantial cigarette stench, after the receptionist assured us the entire was non smoking.

Not even fir free would I stay here. No ice or vending machines except fir lobby, so far that you have to drive and when you get to the lobby you may as well have gone to the store which is right next door. (and we did). The room is dark and depressing, and absolutely filthy. You get one blanket on your bed that isn't much thicker than the sheets. The carpet left my socks brown it was so filthy. But the blob of...food? In the the the bed runner... didn't notice til check out. Gross. Breakfast. The sauce was dripping with grease. Nasty places like this don't even want to hear what you have to say and I wasted no time telling them what they already know. The next time we went down the street to Holiday Express. Very good price and clean and luxurious bedding.

"The good, bad and ugly"

Stayed there for 2 separate nights on stopover to LA. GOOD: *Bed *Large TV *Breakfast *Price BAD: *Some rooms need to turn counter-clockwise of the door handle to open door (after a room change thinking the door lock is not working). *There are many rooms in the hotel,cleanliness of each room varies, so it will be hit and miss. *The water dial in the shower is so tight, almost impossible to turn. * Faucet neck is short but also stay further behind the sink, so the water from the faucet is very close to the sink. UGLY: *Noisy fan (so loud, it's unacceptable)

We have stayed at this property 4 or 5 times because it is close to our business customers, and there are a number of restaurants nearby. The room rates are very reasonable and the rooms are clean. In house restaurant and bar, too.

The Best Best Western Sure Stay in Bakersfield is best Best Western in that area. I was reluctant to stay there at first, because I saw several bad reviews. The 2 other Best Westerns in Bakersfield can't compare to this one. They actually have a breakfast restaurant menu for you to choose which breakfast you prefer. This is a free breakfast which is included once you get your room. The. T.v. was HUGE in the bedroom. A nice , beautiful flat screen T.v. The carpet was a little dated, but. the room was very big and comfortable. The 2 other Best Westerns in Bakersfield have smaller rooms, and the one on Trask has a tiny continental breakfast. And whatever you do don't stay at the Best Western Plus Hill House. I promise you will regret it. It's super filthy. I even have seen roaches in the rooms there. I told the manager there about the roaches, and they said they had recently sprayed for roaches and only had them on the first floor! The Best Western Sure Stay was terrific. If you're going to Bakersfield, i would highly advise you to choose the Sure Stay on Buck Owens.

Ideal location in Bakersfield. The era of renovation is dated but good accommodations. Plenty of walking distance places to eat and Starbucks. Breakfast buffet is good food but small variety of offerings.

The hotel was small and had a really nice lobby. The front desk clerk was very nice and checked us in quickly. The only thing I found odd was they needed $100 for incidentals which is ridiculous. The room was very large and had one of the largest TVs I have seen in a hotel this size. The bed was horrible the mattress was flat, hard, and sunk in on one side. I woke up hurting from the bed. The breakfast was great. The bed though really lowered the rating as it is the most important item.

My wife & I enjoy travelling extensively anytime we can. We are Diamond Card Members of the Best Western Rewards program & we are usually more than satisfied with the experiences there. We checked into this particular hotel on Saturday October 12, 2019 at approximately 4pm after a long day on the road. After drifting off to sleep, I was abruptly awaken to the headboard of the bed falling off the wall and hitting me on the head. Luckily I wasn't injured but it definitely made me think "What if". We immediately called the front desk to inform them of the situation and see what would be done..........would they fix this up or move us to a different room?? We were assuming something would be done because leaving it this way would most definitely make it impossible to sleep comfortably, Unfortunately after calling numerous times & being promised that someone would be up to have a look at everything that evening - NO ONE showed up. After addressing this again at check out & calling a number of times since being home I am shocked & appalled at the lack of care & concern on the part of Best Western. Its so unfortunate that one negative experience can take away from the trust we had built up with this name over the years -- but NO ONE made it a priority to even come have a look at what happened that evening, NO ONE equipped to deal with concerns was available at the time of check out & as I mentioned - after numerous phone calls & messages since being home - NO ONE has responded in ANY WAY, I have not been able to speak with anyone at the hotel. This experience will definitely make me reconsider our future stays.

"Very disapointing"

We stayed here in 2016 when it was the Red Lion and it was a fair place to stay but it has now been taken over by Best Western and it has gone south. We booked six nights at this hotel for the end of October, we booked on line months in advance. When we arrived to check in the girl on the desk could find no booking in our name and really could not have cared less, I had the confirmation number and booking sheet but this meant nothing to her. Finally she said she could find us a room and proceeded to charge us as if we were a new booking, when we questioned the new charge again she could not have cared less. Really disappointed with our treatment, think twice before booking here.

"Functional but a little neglected"

I stopped here at the end of a long drive. I had booked the room in advance because it was close to everything and the price was easy on the wallet. I was greeted at the service desk in a perfunctory and not too friendly way. When I checked in, I was handed a map of what looked like a sprawling, two story building with many outside entrances. I had trouble locating my room but found it after the second try. There were few to no parking spaces close to the entryway I had to use and most of the parking available was a bit of a walk away from the entrance. The decor was well used and a bit outdated but the room was furnished as advertised. It was clean and in middling repair. For example, the shower water valves were exceedingly difficult to turn and the furniture had seen better days. The saving grace was the low price and I did have a good sleep. The property showed some neglect outside as there was litter on the grounds, enough to indicate that the proprietors or employees weren't aware or didn't care. Despite the price, I will not book here again. There are many more choices of lodging available in this town.

I travel to Bakersfield from LA on a weekly basis for work. The staff here is always kind and accommodating. The courtyard and pool area is like an oasis in the middle of the desert. It is an older facility but it is kept up and clean. The price is reasonable as well.

Room was adequate for the price. But beds only came with a very light blanket and we called and requested 2 extras. They said they'd send them down - but 45 minutes later, at 1am, I gave up hope. Also only had 2 bath towels despite a 4 person reservation. How stingy can you be?

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced from every person in every area that I came into contact with whether by phone or in person. We were attending a funeral and when I tried to check in, I stood in line behind 8 other guests also trying to check in for over 20 minutes. When only one guest was helped I left, ran errands, & returned. This time I stood for 46 minutes. There were three people behind the counter but only one checking in. Even if that was not their job they should have acknowledged us. The room was musty and hot. The next morning we went to go eat breakfast. We had my 2 small grandchildren with us. We waited and waited. There were FOUR empty tables. Your staff member took three other couples before us even though we had been waiting for so long. It was not because our party was larger. Because we sat in the same size table they were placing two guests. I can go on and on about the food etc but the service was the worst so I will focus on that. We were the last people in the restaurant. My grandkids had to wait and wait for their food, which the order was messed up. Then we get rushed out of there. Then to make it even worse I told the front desk that I needed a late check out. She told me 1pm without a charge. I offered to pay until 2pm and she refused. My grandkids were taking a nap and the housekeeper tells my daughter to get out that she should of been out an hour ago. I had left so she calls me and I call the front desk. I believe her name was Bianca or something similar answered and I told her what had happened and she said well she is just doing her job and sounded irritated that I had the audacity to call. I said well why didnt someone let her know and how dare her tell us to leave. She then stated that I better be out by 1pm and hung up on me. I called back and someone else answered. I asked for the manager on duty, who was Rose. I was put on hold for a long bit and the same girl gets on and says Rose said that she will call you back and attempted to end the call. I said she didntl have my number. Her reply "Well why dont you give it to me". I travel for a living so I live in hotels. By far this is the worst in my experience. When my daughter dropped the room keys to check out the girl snatched the keys and said you should have been out over an hour ago. It was 1:02 pm. She had been in line before 1pm. DO NOT STAY HERE

This place is a bit dated, but clean. Breakfast is great at a sit down little cafe, they give you a choice of several breakfasts. The mattresses were awful you could feel the springs through them. The mattresses are my only real complaint.

I usually stay here on the way to Palm Springs or Las Vegasfor one night. It is close to my gas stop which is Costco and if I am lucky I can park next to their outdoor electric outlet because I have a hybrid Prius Prime. The breakfast which is included in the price is good before I take off to my final distination.

We stayed here while traveling north as a pit stop. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, staff was pleasant. This was a great value for a nights sleep. The location was great too, easy on and off access to the freeway. If we had more time we would have enjoyed dinner at Buck Owens.

Gave 1 star because I couldn't see a way to give no stars. Booked this place based on its 3 1/2 star rating. This SureStay is waaaay overrated. Check-in process was slow and the line was growing. Fortunately, I was second in line. My wife has trouble with stairs and we couldn't get a downstairs room. Okay that's on me for not booking sooner. We drive around back, as directed, to find two entrances but no markings as to where to enter - guessed wrong - the wings are not connected. We lug the bags upstairs a second time (no elevator) only to find we can't open the door with either key. I called to see if they would bring us another key. “NO - you must come back to the desk.” So I leave my wife with the luggage in the hall of a place that kinda looks like something out of a bad 70's movie. I returned with two new keys - neither of which opened the door. I called and the desk lady said “I can't leave my desk and there is no one else”. Front desk lady is unhelpful, terse and inefficient. Grounds/building - let's say “dingy” is being kind. We travel quite a bit. Haven't had this bad of an experience in a long time. We just left and will settle up with Hotwire tomorrow.

"Disappointed and angry"

I am so dissapointed at the stay here this weekend and angry that the staff did not care about the safety and quality of stay for other guests like myself. I was so excited for my stay here. The hotel looked nice online and I was excited when i arrived. The rooms looked spacious and the pool and the area looked beautiful. My grandkids were so excited to spend our vacation swimming. Especially in the heat of Bakersfield. We bought pool noodles Saturday and the kids loved the swim. However, on Sunday it was a disaster. We had our pool noodles on the patio to dry out and not wet the room. Sunday evening the people in the pool decided to help themselves to the pool noodles and took them from our patio. We went to the pool area to retrieve them. We got back from our family visit and took the kids swimming Sunday evening. There were like 50 people in the pool playing loud music and drinking...in the pool! Carrying cans and bottles and cups of alcohol in the water. Adults were drunk and loud and not even watching their own kids. I had to get my grandkids out of the pool because it wasnt safe. People running and jumping in water. Not looking out for others. There was cussing and girls flashing. I called the front desk to complain and informed them of the alcohol. I asked if alcohol was allowed and they said yes. I have NEVER heard of this at a hotel. I bet their insurance liability is sky high if this is the case. I also complained about the blaring music. We had a patio room and still had to deal with the noise and music from the pool. This was at 7pm when i called and the partying went on until after 10pm. Nothing was ever done and the woman at the front desk was rude. We actually left the hotel and went to family in Bakersfield so the kids could go to sleep and went back to hotel after midnight hoping it was quiet by then. We also had bad service with towels. Only a few towels are provided in a room, which were used for swimming. We called twice for more towels so we could have dry towels for showers and no one ever came. We actually walked to the laundry area where they washed towels and had to ask for some ourselves. Its a shame because the hotel and the rates were decent. It was the service that was horrible and they didnt care about the safety or the comfort of the guests.

The room is very outdated. The tub and sink have rust growing around drains. The water in the sink just squirts slowly towards the back of the sink. The carpeting is not clean, there were what looked like corn flakes imbedded in the curtains. The pool bottom is chipped and paint is coming off. Not worth the money

The hotel rooms and parking were way more than I expected. The rooms were spacious, the beds very comfortable, and the breakfast was made to order! Parking was free and staff were friendly. I will definitely be staying in this room again on my travels down south.

We were excited about our stay.Looked very nice on line, especially the pool.Outside landscape was nice. However, when we walked in the room it smelled like cigarette smoke.We all went to the pool, but it was filthy w/green and black mold and bugs floating on the top.There was a broken light handing outside of the pool. We had the grandkids immediately get out.While in our room, someone tried to open the door.She didn't identify herself but was an employee.She said, Oh sorry, they didn't tell me this room was rented.We mentioned the TV wasn't working and she said she would send someone to fix it. We waited,but they never came.We noticed a pool man out at the pool, so we went and asked at the counter when the pool would be ready and about the TV. She wasn't aware of either. We asked the pool guy and he said he was done, but the pool was still filthy, no difference. The curtains in the room were dusty and dirty. We tried to open them and when we pulled them back we noticed the slider was disgusting and filthy! My granddaughter sat on the carpet and had a bug crawling on her chest. It was a nightmare. I couldn't wait to leave, which made me sad because we all were looking forward to our stay. We come to Las Vegas quite often and we are looking for a place to stay in the middle of the Bay Area and Vegas. I was hoping this would be our place. NO CHANCE! (pics attached) I would appreciate a full refund.

This is a comfortable hotel with a number of restaurants within walking distance and a bar next door if you enjoy that. The beds are comfortable, air works well and internet is faster than mine at home It is right off the freeway and easy to find. Plentiful parking even if you are hauling a trailer.

It was late. We were driving a new-to-us truck home to Seattle from Yuma. We were completely exhausted. I got a good deal on Priceline, so we decided to stop here. When we walked in, soothing music was playing and the lobby was welcoming and cool, even at nearly midnight. Our very helpful desk clerk got us all checked in, showed us where our room was, and we were able to get settled quickly. Then there was that lovely bed! I'd been up for going on 20 hours by that point, so I might have been able to sleep on a bed of nails without much trouble, but I lay down on that bed and I immediately felt knotted muscles start to relax. I woke up without the headache that had been bugging me most of the previous day, feeling rested and ready for another day of traveling. The breakfast was quite nice, too. It's done in the restaurant next door (make sure you get the coupon from the front desk). You can choose from six or seven different made-to-order meals, including low-calorie and vegetarian/vegan options. Service was prompt and polite. If I'm passing through Bakersfield again, this is where I'll stay.

Very awesome staff a few mishaps but there were many people at the hotel. And i had patience with all staff. Are stay was with the JW convention so there was many guest arriving and mishaps going on with keys and power. Ive stayed at surestay in san jose CA Bakersfield is way better!

We do business in Bakersfield quite often and this property is perfect for our needs. On site restaurant that stays open late, very reasonable room rates, efficient staff. Nearby branded hotels are 2 to 3 times as much.

So disappointed. We normally stay here when we drive thru Bakersfield. We did not have reservations and on July 19 around 2:00pm we walked into the lobby and I told the girl (I really wish I had asked her name) we would like a room for the night and she immediately started telling me that we could not check in until 3:00. She went on and on about all the paperwork she had to do before she could check anyone in. I'm thinking staff at this hotel has gone downhill. But there are lots of other hotels to check into that will let you check in early...

I stayed in this hotel twice on 7/5 and 7/13 2019. We just passed through town and looking for a place to sleep overnight. We asked for 1st floor room and was granted on both stays. There are a few negative reviews but our stays were pleasant. The room was clean and large. The bed is comfortable. The A/C worked well. The pool is not as good as it can be but this is a good budget hotel and the price is really good. The staff was also helpful and friendly. Fortunately we didn't have any problem with the area and homeless people like other reviews.

The food in the restaurant was terrible. I would not feed that to my dog and for the price they charged I would have rather gone hungry. The noise coming from the floor above was unacceptable. I have stayed in alot of hotels and never had this issue before. This hotel is not worth the stay. Motel 6 is a better deal.

Sketchy part of town, my daughter did not feel comfortable; shower and toilet both needed repair; front desk not attentive, had to interrupt their conversations for help. Nice little diner that is included for breakfast if you have time for a sit down meal.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to find this older property an enjoyable stay. Our ground floor room faced the pool and courtyard and was a lovely view. The courtyard area is almost majestic. Older palms and tropical foliage surrounding the pool, suggest this property was a luxury hotel in it's day. I have read some negative reviews of this hotel, and yet, we found our room clean and very comfortable. The big screen TV was a bonus as was the included hot breakfast. This may not be a 4 star property, and the location is not the most desirable, but we paid with points and thought this a good value. The staff attended to us satisfactorily.

The Mrs. booked a room at a hotel across town. We showed up and they wanted to put her, me and our 15 yo son in a single king bed. Ummm, no. Called SureStay at 11:30 pm. They answered right away, had a room for us, were fresh and alert when we showed up at midnight to check in. Room was clean, shower was excellent, internet was fast.

Booked 2 rooms online, but only had one when arrived. PAID for 2, and told I would have to take care of it myself re: refund. Refund was due to needing 2 separate rooms and have to rebook a second room at the time of arrival. Even though credit card had already been charged and paid. One room smelled stuffy, the other rooms thermostat did not work. And had to have key cards rekeyed twice before working properly.

Not much has changed since it was the Red Lion. It was a good value for our rate of $60. We just learned that a $60 motel room in Bakersfield is not where we will stay in the future. We travel through here several times and year and will return to the hotels off of Rosedale. Many good choices there for us and we're comfortable paying more for an updated property.

This hotel is cheap, so we took the gamble. We woke up only to find a dead cockroach in our bed. The lady gave this poor excuse about people that leave the door open and let the cockroaches in. Let's just say that this wasn't the first time they've had this issue! Good luck of you still plan on staying here! Best Western may be in the name, but it's far from the quality expected from a Best Western.

I experienced an awful evening here, as the bed was awful..lumpy, uneven and just past it's day. The room was OK and relatively clean and large. The front desk employee's were sweet and helpful. The pool area is quit attractive having a tropical atmosphere with lot's of palms and other tropical foliage. Price is decent compared to the other large hotels in the area but make sure you really check out the bed before you pay the rent.

Bed sheets not tucked in. Water pressure at sink is at 30%. Shower went to hot then cold when taking a shower. Will not come back to this one. I don't think the housekeeping staff cares. Check in was nice.

We travel with our 29 year olds. It is always $100 or less and have courtyard rooms facing beautiful green pool oasis. Pool and hot tub are lovely and quiet. They even have a workout room. They had a dinner special for $7.50 we enjoyed. They have a bar with live music or Karaoke. The breakfast is diner style and made to order. There is a gas station in the parking lot and next door to Buck Owens Crystal Palace. It always has live music, great food and lots of family line dancing. It is more expensive than the bar and food at Sure Stay Properties's. The room has a fridge and microwave. It's not fancy or perfect, but it's clean and comfortable. The price is right. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. Ann checked us in and was willing to match internet deals.I tried to call them directly to reserve, but ended up with a booking service. Carla was there this morning to check us out. She provided me with the direct number for future visits. My sons and I had a great time and could walk home. After a wonderful rest from the road we are heading home to Tahoe!

We are loyal to BW, but we do not travel often. Thsi was our first Sure Stay BW and was impressed. When we entered this SureStay, We were greeted by Araceli with a nice Hello and great smile. The GM came out and said she recognized me. I had stayed there 5 years earlier. Now that was amazing, The Team was very welcoming and service oriented.The King Sized room was very nice. The Breakfast, from a menu, was very good, although I did miss those waffles. We liked this SureStay so much that we planned to stay there 2 nights later.

I stayed here on way to Vegas from Yosemite. Despite some poor reviews on Trip Advisor I had a great experience. Hotel was clean, comfortable and friendly and efficient staff. We used the pool as a welcome break from the heat and breakfast was terrific value ( incl in the price)

This place was horrible - do not stay here if you want a good night's sleep, a decent hotel room, or friendly staff. First of all, we did not get the room we booked (which we had reserved WELL in advance) because according to the receptionist, they "ran out" of that room type. Then we find our faucet is broken, the fridge has puddles of water in it and isn't cold, and the shower is dirty. When we went back to speak to the receptionist about our issues, there was another woman there waiting to speak to a manager - the room she was first assigned had other people's things in it, and the second room she was assigned had bugs in it and smelled of smoke. The receptionist tried to give us a different room when we told her about our issues, but out of fear of getting a worse room after talking to this woman, we declined and asked if there was anything else they could do to make up for the problems we had. The receptionist was rude and disrespectful during this entire encounter, ignoring our complaints and telling us the "best" they could do was give us 2 free dinner coupons to the hotel cafe (it was 10 pm and we were only staying for one night). She then made an error in the computer system and noted that we changed rooms when we declined her offer for a new room, so we had OTHER GUESTS waking us up at 3am as they tried to get into our hotel room with their own key! Thankfully the new receptionist that was there when we stormed down to the lobby in the middle of the night was friendly and apologized for the situation. NEVER EVER staying at one of these hotels again though. Would have been worth the extra $20 for the night at a MUCH better hotel somewhere else in town.

Busy place. Room was not refreshed for 3 days we were there. Second night the room next to us was very noisy. Yelling and door flaming continued until police came at 4 AM. This is not the place to stay if you want peace and quiet.

Great place if you need an overnight stay. They have a great bar attached to the hotel with karaoke 4 nights a week and bands once a month. Bartenders are nice and they have great morning breakfast. Getting a lot of bang for your buck.

The reception staff were warm and inviting and pleasant. The lobby was bright and clean. Our room was spacious enough and clean. It was on the ground floor and backed onto the garden and pool area. The pool was large and surrounded by large gardens including pretty roses. We though the window treatment was cleaver - you can see out but people cannot see in the sliding glass doors. We slept very well although the pillows were a tad lumpy. The TV was big and worked well. WiFi was fast. Breakfast in the neighboring Junction Diner was included - and was a choice of 6 breakfasts, not a buffet. Very nice.

We recently spent a night at this hotel. We found the room adequate and clean. It contained a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The heater worked well and the television was large. The staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was in a restaurant connected to the hotel. Breakfast was good, and you were able to choose from 7 or 8 items from the special menu. The tip was not included. We would have preferred the buffet breakfast found in most hotels. Upon checkout we found a $100 refundable charge on the bill and were told it would be credited back to our charge card. We checked out Friday and it is Tuesday and we still haven't seen the credit. However, we do expect to see the credit soon. We don't know why it is the policy of this hotel to put a $100 refundable charge on a stay. We have not experienced this at any other hotel we have stayed at.

The facility could use a complete renovation. If you are not expecting a newish room and are ok with a very well used environment then the room will suffice as long as they keep the breakfast in the adjoining restaurant as part of the room charge. If you are planning to use the hotel's wifi do not stay in the back units of the facility.

We saw the favorable reviews and the included breakfast and thought the price was reasonable for a Best Western facility. We found it to not be the best and not up to what we have had at other Best Western facilities but certainly adequate. It could use some minor maintenance and renovation but it is basically a sound facility. The major strengths are a great checkin front desk staff and the central pool hot tub courtyard which has lots of palm trees and a great pool to relax around and tables and chairs for relaxing near the pool and hot tub which are open apparently to all hours of the night. Best rates are obtained by booking through the Best Western website as opposed to other internet providers. There is an evening meal deal of a $10 dinner for $7.50 if a ticket is purchased from the front desk. The breakfast is outstanding with a choice of six hot options including omelette with hash browns and toast, pancakes, waffles, and cereal among others. Housekeeping is a major negative as we found a prior occupants ice cream sundae in our refrigerator which was sadly short of shelves upon our entry into our lodging. We had asked for an upper level and quiet room upon checkin and in our original booking request as my wife is a exceeding light sleeper and were originally offered a top floor (2nd level with no elevators) room on the side of the facility facing the La Quinta Inn facility. I inquired if there might be a more quiet room and was offered one on the opposing side of the building facing the Courtyard with the pool and a nice porch looking out on the pool from the second level room. It proved to be an outstanding location and was room 295. It was on the side of the building facing Buck Owens Crystal Palace which is the quiet side and the interior room facing the Courtyard is the ideal location. If you want quiet avoid the side facing the La Quinta as it is exceedingly noisy as a major road runs on that side and it is close to the freeway as well so the noise can be truly demeaning as I learned while walking the area. Housekeeping had also not reset the clock in the tv which read 415 am when it was early evening so you could not tell what was available on the tv. The interior mirrored door for the clothes closet was off the hinges and could not be reset by myself or my wife so it was reported to management and the maid had failed to refill the shower gel which has a dispenser which clearly shows how much gel is in it through a clear panel and it was totally empty which required me getting out of my shower while wet to walk across the bathroom to obtain a bar of soap to cleanse myself while wet which could have caused a slip and fall due to the improper maintenance by housekeeping staff. This also was reported to management. We arrived after dark and while going up to the room through an exterior stairwell noticed a large amount of what appeared to be vomit near the entrance to the stairwell as well as a large amount of bark dust inside the entrance to the stairwell. Both were reported to management through the front desk staff who assured me they would be cleaned up that night however neither of them were and I reported them to the same front desk staff member the next morning when we checked out and she was surprised that they had not been cleaned up and told me that she would be sure they were addressed before she went home and that the housekeeping issues would be referred to the housekeeping manager for follow up and the maintenance issues including the tv clock, the door on the close and a protective grid on a step on an interior stairwell to the Courtyard area that I had found to be missing and reported to her would all be addressed. While my wife was dressing and we did not have a please make up the room note on the door the maid knocked on the door about making up the room. I inquired if she was the maid who had made up the room the preceding day and she told me she had. I told her that she had left a prior guests sundae in the refrigerator and that she had not refilled the shower gel in the bathroom causing me to have to go get a bar of soap when I was already wet and could have been injured by falling and her attitude was that she could care less no apology or acknowledgement that she had done anything wrong or less than perfect! Obviously maintenance and particularly housekeeping are a major concern but the facility is a nice one and hopefully my concerns will be addressed.

When we came they did not found the booking, they were not helpful, the girl at the réception was not Nice and rude to us. They keep us waiting then finally gave us a room. One week after they charge us for no show of 3 days (original booking was one day) Instead of apologising for their mistake they told us we have to wait 2 days the time they check and solve the issue. This is incorrect a correct hotel would have correct the mistake immediately. I understand not everyone has problem with them but I advice to avoid this hotel to avoid problems. About the room it was not very Nice, the neighborood looked unsafe I was worried for our car.

My stay here was fantastic. Breakfast was great choices and the staff very friendly and welcoming throughout the motel. My room was big and the bed very comfortable. Internet worked perfectly. The only issue I had was 2 out of 3 washers don't work so was given refunds.

My wife, my oldest son, and I, stayed there for a soccer tournament Friday night and Saturday night weekend. We arrived to find a musty smelling room, I'm OK with that, but barely warm water, and even with calls to the desk, no improvement when we left Sunday morning. Also, lost a reservation, then charged us more. On a positive note, when we did leave after speaking with multiple people, they fixed our reservation to our original rate and totally accommodated us financially. The room was sorta clean, towels were skimpy, but the refrigerator and microwave were even there in a basic room. Quick soccer tournament overnighter served its purpose but I would not stay there for any type of extended Bakersfield vacation. Decent places to eat are abundant around the area as well as activities for kids. I stay at Best Western plus facilities very regularly, I probably wouldn't do this one again. Not all bad, but I would definitely look around to other spotS

You get what you pay for. Was here for a soccer tournament, and while the rate was inexpensive, the room was not at all worth it. It was outdated, and next to a very loud La Quinta. The free breakfast was subpar (just eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast) No fruit, no muffins, no bages, nothing else. We were however given 2 free tickets for breakfast at the diner, but unfortunately, the front office staff did not do a good job of telling us that when I checked in. We had a 2 Queen Bed room, however they only gave us 2 bath towels, which we had to use when we went to the Jacuzzi, as they don't offer pool towels. When we went to the front desk to ask for two more, they seemed annoyed. The location is close to many things nearby and is about a 25 minute drive to the Kern County Soccer fields.

We stayed there for two nights and enjoy the place a lot . Where the pool was at was beautiful, a lot of plants and it looked so green and pretty. The pool was huge. The room was very nice and we had plenty of room . It was a great location and close to the 99 , with easy access to it. The breakfast was awesome and so was the waitress. It is a shame that this old, but previously unique motel has been allowed to deteriorate. It needs major upgrades in maintenance and housekeeping. Currently it is an embarrassment to the Best Western brand and the company should give it a 6 month timeout to get things in order. After that Best Western can decide whether to re-affiliate or drop this property entirely. We checked in to a ground floor room. It had not been vacuumed. Repairs to a water-stained wall had been done in an amateur manner and the area behind the bedside table had not been cleaned in months. There was a broken electric outlet cover (possible Fire Code violation?) and debris left over from a previous guest. This is an older motel from the days of big rooms and that could be a plus. But the room looked weird with 3 tables and only one chair. The bathroom sink drained painfully slowly. Oddly enough the courtyard garden is attractive and appears to be well maintained. If the motel put the same effort and attention into the rooms, this would be a really good place to stay. To add insult to injury, at breakfast the coffee cup had not been washed and had lipstick smears on it. Disgusting! Bottom line: the owners have a choice, clean it up or blow it up.

Easily located off main routes and short distance to restaurants such as hooters etc. Pool areas looked good and breakfast nice a la carte in next door diner . I like the hotel and stayed there many times when it was a BW, now that it is a part of BW I stayed there again and still like the hotel but the wireless is no good, when I went to the front desk to ask about it another person said it didn't work work a week, This is not OK and it is expected when staying with you, at check out I brought it up to the front desk and they did not seem to care. so on this trip I will stay in town at Hill house, I like your place better but not if the WIFI doesn't work.

Older property but updated recently, great helpful staff (Thank You Karla), large clean rooms with new large flat screen TVs, restaurant onsite with breakfast included, central location right off of Hiway 99, next to Buck Owens Crystal Palace which you should see whether you're a country music fan or not. Did experience problems with the TV remotes on the new TV/ Cable system but the staff worked hard to correct the issues including offering to switch rooms. Overall money well spent.

The staff were extremely friendly. After that, it's over everything else sucks. The room had a strong mold/musty smell; large water stains on the ceilings; patio door lock broken; Front door has clear evidence that it's been kicked in at least once; bathtub looked nasty. We went to Wal Mart and purchased a wax heater that heats scented wax just to endure the smell. Very sketchy people around the hotel. We'll never go back. Ever!

When you enter the lobby you think it may be a pretty decent establishment because there's Aston Martin in the lobby on display. If they only spent that money on maintenance and upkeep of this property they would be way better off. The halls reeked of old cigarettes and animals. Once we entered our dark, dingy, stuffy, stinky room we wanted to leave immediately. Unfortunately we had prepaid & it was after midnight and it was not safe for us to be on the road so tired, so we tried to not over think it and stayed. The refrigerator looked like it had been drug across a gravel parking lot. The mattresses were old , had a valley in the center and both beds squeaked every time you moved at all. There were random brown & red stains on the walls, large black stains in the carpet and stains on the shower curtain. The mold in the shower was nothing short of a biology experiment. We were awoken in the middle of the night with loud, strange cat crying noises. After a couple hours of rest (not sleep but rest) we were ready to get out of that room and back on the road. We had reserved a room for this same property on our return trip but thankfully did not prepay. I cancelled that room when I checked out because we surely were not going to stay here twice. It took 10 minutes wait to have someone show up to the front desk for me to check out & cancel the other stay I had booked. I was questioned by the man at the front desk as to why I would cancel. It was quite uncomfortable as he made me feel as though I had done something wrong. If you have read this far and are still considering booking a stay at this property, you may want to reconsider.

A group of us are staying here for a business trip, and I can't wait to go home. Dirty old carpets, tired 1970's bedding, no microwave in the room as listed on the confirmation. My room smells like smoke and makes me want to gag; my throat is sore. The hallways are musty. No elevator. Bathroom in lobby is out of service. Long hair in sheet. Stains on wall. Toilet wasn't clean. No Kleenex in room. Stain on towel. I didn't call the front desk because everyone else in my group was calling for similar problems and they just couldn't fix much. Untrained staff. Items crossed off the menu at the hotel restaurant. The breakfast is very limited, especially gluten-free options. It was noisy in my room...seemed like the whole building was shaking when someone used the shower next door! Might have better luck at Motel 6. This is not really a Best Western, not really a Red Lion.. they need to raze it and start all over.

Nice hotel. Great big room. Only disappointment was the remote for the tv would not work, and I called the desk 3 times about it. Nobody was ever sent to fix the problem. Luckily, I had my laptop with me, so I watched Netflix on the wifi

My one night at SureStay by Best Western in Bakersfield was very pleasant.The room was huge - had a desk, an arm chair, and a table with chairs. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. The staff at reception was friendly and helpful. My one complaint is that between the time I booked at the Red Lion hotel and the time I arrived the motel had changed ownership and signage so it was difficult to find. It would have been helpful to receive a notice about the change - or at least a sign on the motel "formerly Red Lion". Breakfast was served at the adjacent restaurant and was fine.

I booked a room at this hotel on my iPhone as we pulled in to the parking lot thinking it was a pet friendly hotel, as it had appeared in our search results for pet friendly hotels in Bakersfield. We walked into the lobby within 10 minutes of booking the room only to find out we were mistaken about their pet policy. They then refused to let us cancel and refund the reservation we just made minutes earlier, claiming it was a non-refundable reservation so we were just out of luck; they would be keeping our money and we would not be allowed to stay. Truly sickening business practices in place here, have a little human decency!

"Updates really needed"

Ok,so this property was recently purchased from the Red Lion chain. It is extremely outdated. First room they put me in had a faulty a/c unit and a dime sized burn hole through the center of the top sheet on the bed, fully disable when the bed was made. (Nonsmoking room) So. They moved me. The a/c unit is either on or it is off so the room is roasting or frigid. The tv randomly "freezes" and will not change channels. Asked for a maintenance guy and he never showed up. This place is affordable and the desk staff is super nice.

My friend and I stayed one night at the Red Lion Hotel! It was very inviting and clean , nicely decorated rooms. We had 2 queen beds in our room. Lots of pillows and comfortable bed, made for a good night's sleep! Centrally located near Hwy 99.

"Average but Fine"

The room was a decent size. The bed despite having a broken base was comfortable. The room was clean, the TV was large, and there was a microwave oven. The fridge seemed to have an intermittant on/off problem. The shower had one of those plastic curtains with the shower over the bath, and we do not like them. No hotel should be using these. The tap fittings were very old and were very difficult to use. Access to the pool was easy through the garden facing ranch slider doors. The room was fitted with aircon, which was old and very noisey. The walls were thin so noise from the adjoining rooms was very easily heard, but the noise from the floor above was even worse. Buck Owens Crystal Palace was next door, and what an amazing place that was.

Third time staying here in 2018 for a local venue. The rooms are desperately outdated and uncomfortable. The staff isn't helpful, charged us twice which I had to spend a lot of time fixing. The room keys never work, even after the first time. We gave it a second try, gave us a key to a room that was a storage unit. Shame on us for giving it a third try, no cable TV what so ever for 3 days. Im all about you get what you pay for. I have no problem spending 300.00 a night but even at this rate its not worth it. Other moderately priced hotels in the area that I would rather try.

Very spacious, fully equipped & comfortable room, hotel itself is a kind of high level motel. We stayed 1 night on the way from Arizona to SF & were satisfied, nice garden, swimming pool (not used in winter), free parking & great breakfast included - you can order from 6 item menu, you pay just drinks (coffee, tea - 1$ each), we were really satisfied.

I appreciated the special rate I was given and the 2 free breakfasts. Don't expect anything other than basic here. Our neighbors were noisy. Hotel needs an upgrade. It was close to our event at the venue next door.

Not worth Your money. Staff didn't really seem to care for their job, not at all for customers. Big size on the room, and that's about all the positive there was. Free wi-fi, I understand why; there was no wi-fi at all. Noticed the front desk twice without any respons at all. Breakfast boring, new staff but still not interesting in the customers. Save Your money,drive through Bakersfield.
