Service was lacking and not very much english at front desk. no explanations of rooms and we were left on out own most of time. parking was free if you don't mention it, which they do not care about anyway. breakfast was just ok, could have been better. coffee lousy but what to do in this area.only stayed one day passing through. not going to come back. forget wi-fi. and no english channels on tv

« ok hotel shame about service »

Came on a bus tour. The hotel was ok rooms were clean. First wi fi not working, went to reception where he and I tried again but when it didn't work he said 'not my problem'. I learned later that many others had no wi fi. As group we were made to sit in another room and fetch our very poor meals from the main dining room, down a corridor and up several steps. We had our room key stolen and were made to pay 20 euro by a very insolent clerk. Asked for some ice and were told no. Welcome, I dont think so!

« Welcoming with stunning views »

I stayed at the best western in January 2016 and loved every minute of it. I Loved the location of this hotel and the views were simply amazing. Bad Herrenalb is a stunning little town and the best western is the best place to stay. Make sure if you go you to try the Bitburger beer sold in Hotel bar!

    « A week in schvartzvald »

We bought a package deal: flight, car and one week at this hotel. We had breqakfasr each day and the traveled around the black forest and (one day) alsace wine route. The hotel was a bit crowded, but quite OK. the only problematic crew person was the night reception desk employee who seemed at first like he couldn't speak English, and then just as a not so nice person. Breakfast was great and the rooms are nice and clean. Parking is minimal. Most chances you will have to park some distance away on the street. Wifi in the room was bad. In the corridor works better

    « So disappointing »

€109 for a room that should be scrapped. Told them, showed pics of the truly unacceptable problems, said I would NOT post on TA, but when, other than apologies, we were not even offered a token, a voucher for a drink which we would not have taken up, but just some sort of recognition I felt this deserved to be reported. Best Western - we'll be thinking twice before staying at one of your hotels.

« Nice place with water problem »

Clean, pleasant though small rooms. Nice balcony but could use chairs. Serious problem with black/brownish water was responded to but felt concern was about room (and next guest) not me or my husband. We drank water from the tap before we discovered the black/brownish water in both the shower and sink. They did not ask if we felt okay or would like to use another room for a shower. Wifi is available free but seems to work only directly in front of front desk.

« Nice room, bad food »

The room was nice, clean and big. The pool area was really good and clean with saunas. But the food in the restaurant was really not good. The area around the hotel was okay. The staff was medium service minded.

    « Old/Dated and No Airconditioning »

This hotel was chosen by Cosmos as part of our tour Highlights of Germany from July 1-12, 2016. The hotel is larger in comparison from the hotels in Germany especially compared to the hotels near big cities. The entire hotel is dated/old and does not have any touch of modernity. However, this is to be expected as this hotel is in the Black Forest area. The rooms were average in size, clean, and had a balcony with outside chairs. The room did not have air-conditioning. During this stay, it was very hot outside and cooled down late at night. It is important to remember that the windows do not have screens; so, bugs can enter your room. WiFi is free up to 200 mb. In-room bathroom was adequate in size and had average amenities. The bathroom had a bathtub and a hand held shower. The room was quiet and we did not have any issues with noise. The front desk employees were not fluent in English and had some difficulty understanding. We tried to request a fan to use in our room but they did not have such a thing. The included dinner was nothing spectacular/extraordinary. The breakfast buffet was average as well.

« An attractive hotel at affordable price in peaceful locations »

The hotel is attractive, clean and welcoming. Its location is also good since the tram/bus station are only a small distance away. The surroundings are extremely peaceful even though some road works are currently being undertaken in the roads nearby. Excellent service.

    « Magdeburg »

No air-conditioning but well located in Magdeburg but location is perfect if you are doing business in Magdeburg. Would stay there again if they incorporated air conditioning into each room. This is not a room to stay in the summer.

    « Old School Hotel »

This hotel was definitely a change of pace from the other hotels we stayed at while in Germany. It is older and they still use real metal keys to access your room! The hotel is older than most, but it is well maintained and clean. You feel like you are in a different era when you stay here, but that is ok because it is a nice change of pace. The restaurant in the hotel was older, but the food was very good. It was like a home cooked meal with many choices of things to eat. I was surprised to find rhubarb on the menu and it was excellent. The breakfast buffet was also very good with a lot of healthy choices. I would definitely stay here again if I were visiting the area as the hotel is definitely memorable.

    « Nice hotel »

The hotel was nice and accommodating, the room was clean, the breakfast tasty and the crew were friendly. The only thing was that in room 327 we had no internet connection, the wifi didn't reach. From the hotel it's a short drive to Pforzheim or deeper into the Black Forest. I wish I had more time to see the village itself as it seemed quite charming.

    « Ok for a night »

Great pool. Convenient access to it. The rooms need a refresh. The curtain rails look like falling down anytime. Charging for water bottles in the room is not what I expected from a hotel in 2016. Bossy reception staff. Bring print out of reservation to not to be overcharged.

    « Interesting 50's decor »

Remote location nothing to do at night booked last minute there after France extension cancelled. No replacement for Strasburg. Heating was inconsistent. Some rooms extremely hot and still smelled of smoke after all these years. Food was okay.

« Pleasant hotel in Black Forest »

Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Great view from the balcony on north side of hotel! Balcony access from each room. Breakfast and dinner were served in buffet form with a big range of food. Very delicious food!

    « Not as advertised »

First of all there is no wifi. Definitely nothing in the rooms and unreliable in the lobby. If you want wifi you have to leave your room and hope it's working. Yes, the staff is friendly but since I don't speak German communication is tough. The website says concierge service. No. I don't really mind that these things exist, just don't faulsely advertise that they do. One of the reasons we chose this hotel is because we needed wifi. On a different note, the breakfast buffet is outstanding with a nice selection and of warm and cold dishes. My husband says best breakfast we've has some nice coming to Europe.

    « Family oriented »

I was there with a tour group, it is named Best Western, but it is just a name, it is an old fashioned German family hotel, very small, cold, but they put an electric heater in the room. No teakettle, no radio, no alarm clock, but very good breakfast and fantastic air in the neighborhood. Black Forest!!! Full of oxigen. Nice people, but not Best Western level. No fridge, there was a tv, with one channel English program.

« Nce base for exploring the Black Forest »

This was our accommodation for the Rail Discoveries package holiday we were on. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Our room was on the top floor and was very spacious and had a large private balcony. The bed was very comfortable and I had a very good sleep every night. We were half board so had dinner every night in the restaurant. This was buffet style and they always had a selection of three main courses - fish, meat and vegetarian with lots of choices of accompanying vegetables (pork in various guises was a frequent occurrence). There was also a choice of starters including soup and salads plus a choice of desserts. Location was reasonable with a 10-15 minute walk to the tram/train station which linked to the excellent Black Forest transport network.

« Friendly people but rather old place »

We slept here for one night. We arrived rather late and the people at the reception were very friendly, they gave us two rooms instead of a family room. The view from the balcony was nice. The only problem was that everything looked a bit old and, for people with allergies, that is not very convenient. For the rest, the breakfast was great and so were the other services.

    « Comfortable and Unusual »

This hotel was clean and comfortable, with ample rooms, balcony access from each room, and a friendly staff. Dinner and breakfast buffets were very good, with sufficient vegetarian options as well. Overall, the style was a little unusual. On one hand it's a Black Forest rustic retreat, but it seems to be in the middle of a neighborhood. There are also inexplicable elements of a 1930s art deco hotel in the lobby and common areas. Regardless, it was both enjoyable and peaceful.
