"Very enjoyable"

12/07/2018

Whilst the area looks intimidating with graffiti and empty premises we felt completely safe and walked to the Acropolis, into Syntagma Square and up to Lycabetus Hill from the hotel. The free phone loaded with google maps was extremely helpful. Staff recommended a local eating establishment Atitamos (two streets away from the hotel which provided excellent food at reasonable prices.

"I would stay here again!"

Clean room, lovely helpful staff, great breakfast, very convenient location with the National Archaeological Museum, right next door. Only drawback was that the rooms are not soundproof. Luckily, my neighbors were quiet. Bring earplugs just in case. I felt perfectly safe in this hotel and walking in the neighborhood.

"Unsafe area "

04/07/2018

My friend and I stayed in this hotel recently. It was just OK - really pretty average. The room was quite small, especially the shower, and the beds were not very comfortable at all. But we found it quiet and dark enough for a good sleep. The breakfast was alright with a decent selection and the freshly squeezed orange juice was a nice touch. The location is good in some respects as it's not too far from all the touristy areas and just a 2min walk to the stop for the red sightseeing bus. There were also lots of fantastic restaurants nearby which we enjoyed. We simply wouldn't stay there again because of the area - it didn't feel safe to walk around especially at night and we were always conscious to make it back to the hotel before dark which is not much fun when on holiday!

"Be careful "

03/07/2018

The hotel itself is nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Numbers are standard, but fine enough, especially if you live on 5th+ floor with the balcony. Shower was a little bit small, but that is not a huge problem. You can reach center by foot for 20-30 minutes. The main disappointment - district, where the hotel is situated. Be careful after dark, there is a point near the hotel where you can find huge groups of homeless, immigrants and some other marginals (sorry if they are fine guys after all). They are located near the Exarchion square most of the time. Just be careful. We didn't have problems with them, but overall feeling from this walks wasn't very pleasant.

The rooms are very clean. The staff is very polite and helpful. The neighborhood not the nicest in Athens. However,we would definitely recommend this hotel. We asked for some restaurant suggestions and the lady at the reception sent us to a very nice restaurant that served great food.

"Uncomfortable and noisy"

25/06/2018

My wife and I stayed here in June 2018. The location looks a bit dodgy at first but we soon learned that it works well. Walking distance to the metro and just far enough away from tourist area to dodge the direct selling / hawkers. What let this place down was not the location, it was the room. The bed mattress and pillow were VERY soft and my back got sore after one night. Also the walls were paper thin so we could hear everything that was going on in other rooms nearby. Not very comfortable or private. Suggest you avoid this place.

"Not good enough"

24/06/2018

Unfortunately our experience was not the best. We had a private apartment booked with Booking.com and it was a fraud, so we had to book something quite last minute as Booking.com did not assist us. This was one of the only international brands with rooms left (by then we were a bit scared and decided to play by the brand) and we soon realised why... It is quite far from transports (10/15min walk) via a rough part of town. Exarchia is great for a drink or a meal, but it is extremely dirty and sketchy - you will feel quite weird going back to the hotel at night, and are likely to find riots or demonstrations. The hotel itself needs a bit of love, it has been a little while since it was properly looked after. Same goes for cleaning - just about ok, but could do with attention to detail. Not up to standard. Service was probably the worst. We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary. Their website does not let you choose between double or twin, so we got in contact and explained the situation. That was the beginning of a long exchange - everytime we would ask, they would say it would depend which rooms would be available on the day (including the day before the staying). What sort of hotel does room allocation like this?! Either you have availability or not, and you should certainly be able to tell at the time of booking! Will colleagues on a business trip have to stay in a double bed, depending on availability? They sorted it out in the end, but the service was not friendly. All in all: the room was good size, the roodtop terrace is very pleasant, but for this price you can most certainly do better in Athens (if you book in advance).

"Nice Hotel "

4
18/06/2018

Museum Hotel was a nice hotel to stay. Room sizes were a bit small but I think european hotels are mostly small. The USP of the hotel was a mobile in the room which was free from the hotel for the time of your stay. You could make any number of calls any where in the world and browse internet for whole day on it. It was just next to the National Museum. About 15-20min walk from the main square. Breakfast was good with reasonable variety of foods. Reception was very helpful to arrange reasonable Taxi or Tours or airport transfers (with some negotiation) and were also very helpful with city guidance. Overall a good experience

"Not Bad For The Price "

We stayed here for 2 days it was clean but small the room for a family of 4. The staff were great & very helpful. Breakfast was very good lots of variety. They had a phone GPS in the room that you can take with you to help you get around great idea. I would recommend this place to stay if your in a budget.

"Athens - Museum Hotel"

08/06/2018

We stayed at the hotel on two occasions - May 28 and 29 and then again on June 3.Overall, our experience was good. The first room was a triple room and was of good size. The second time the room was a double room but was quite small - especially the shower was so small (2x2 ft) that one can not even turn in there. However, the hotel served an excellent breakfast and the staff is super friendly. The location of the hotel is ok, about 15 min walk from the nearest metro station.

"A Good Choice in this area of Athens"

06/06/2018

We stayed one night in room 507. The room was not large, and the beds were adequate. Bathroom is tiny, made to look bigger by mirrors, and very intelligently designed to take advantage of limited space. Shower worked well. Reception was good, and breakfast staff worked hard to allow us to get a breakfast prior to the normal 7 am time due to an early transfer to the port. Wakeup call was scheduled but did not work due to a phone out of order. Hotel is in a student area of town which is not terribly attractive, but right beside the Archeological Museum.

Friendly and helpful Staff, nice breakfast, clean and modern rooms. Located in an area where locals live, with lots of reasonably priced restaurants. Next to the best museum in Athens so you can go in early before anyone arrives.

"Great Hotel - Friendly staff, good restaurants close by and some nice extras"

5
30/05/2018

My wife and I stayed for four nights in The Best Western Museum Hotel at the end of May. The location is excellent for friendly restaurants that are great value for money. The area is the student quarter of Athens - lots of graffiti and a few youngsters protesting - but we felt completely safe and there was a nice buzz in the area. Main sights of Athens are an easy 20 to 30 minutes walk away. Public transport plentiful and taxis cheap. Hotel provided free smartphone for our stay, tea and coffee making was available in room (contrary to previous reviews) and there is a great roof terrace to relax. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

29/05/2018

We stayed for two nights. We felt safe both day and night. Great location to local restaurants and access to the main roads for buses and tours. Front desk staff were very helpful in suggesting great places to eat. Nice rooms, clean and small. Breakfast was great.

"Clean rooms, location is SCARY at night."

3
28/05/2018

Location: Walking distance to Omonia square to collect Sightseeing buses, food. Rooms were clean. At night aflter 11:30pm the area can be frightening. We witnessed molotov's being thrown, and fires, and bomb explosions. Riot police are there but there aren't any arrests. It's quite a show from our balconies. 'Anarchists' challenge the police, the police advance full steam ahead, stop, and retreat back casually back to starting point. This repeats over and over again. It was frightening with the explosions on our last night. Bottle water provided only for the first night. In room kettle/coffee/tea service was welcome. Staff was helpful. Provided ice daily for personal meds. Breakfast not included in our stay, but is available. Booked a taxi for drop off to Piraeus port for ferry early morning. $20 Euro. Staff recomended a really nice restaurant on our first night. We would have returned on our last night but it was jam packed. Really good food and staff. There are other restaurants around. Went around the Exarchia area bars and restaurants, seems to be a popular spot with the alternative /anarchist crowd. Rooftop terrace has spectacular views of the Acropolis and Parthenon.

"Good price for hotel"

20/05/2018

We stayed here for 2 nights in a group of four. The hotel property itself is nice and they offer a good breakfast. The rooms were clean and bedding was comfy. It was a good room for the price we paid. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Cons: Location!! Although the hotel is in the centre of the city and very close to most of the attractions either by cabs or public transport, the area is a bit sketchy. One night there were cops in the area and you can hear shouting noise and petrol bottles on fire. It seems like a normal thing in that area though. No one hurts or disturb s the tourists.

The hotel is iright accross the archilogical museum, away from, but still in walking distance from the main tourist attractions of Athens. The room was just fine. We were able to sleep with whole family of 4 in one room. On the roof of the hotel you have a great view over Athens. Staff was very friendly and helpfull.

"Clean, friendly hotel outside Athen's main tourist zone but still w/in walking distance to all"

4
25/04/2018

During the day, you are right next to the National Archaeological Museum and terrific coffee shops. Main tourist attractions are still walking distance or short metro ride away. During the evening you are just blocks away from Exarcheia bars. Hey even local anarchists like watching sports on TV! While I had no problems nor did I 'see anthing', I would recommend being situationally aware in the evening after 23:00. Some people might not feel safe.

Excellent hotel, clean room, nice central location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good links to all landmarks and monuments. Walking distance to everywhere if you like walking. Felt very safe walking everywhere around the hotel area at different times of the day even quite late at night. Graffiti is not really indicative of how safe Nd nice this area is. Met lovely friendly and smiling people everywhere. Overall great stay. Greece fantastic country with very friendly and nice people.

Let me confess by saying I actually was really lucky to have a such a good time in Athens, as January is a very cold Times for the city but as the city was getting prepared for the 2nd Christmas for the region. Markets were up and running late, lot of buzz in the market as well. We checked in the hotel very late night, and still it was very smooth. The room offered was really lovely and big in size with a heavenly balcony having an average view. WiFi was super strong Breakfast was very delicious and the staff at the breakfast was quick and efficient. Check in staff at reception are well informed and lovely to chat with. Most importantly are very helpful and accommodating. THINGS TO CONSIDER - - Price paid and amenities in the room - Some additional services or assistance to be offered those living at 7th floor ex - giving water bottles - Bed linen was not changed in 2 days, I had to ask to change else it would have - Location can be scary and difficult if you walk too late nights... lot of druggies and homeless people around

Welcoming and helpful staff, nice building, best location, lots of nice bars and restaurants a few blocks away! The Ismim room is amazing, very spacious and there's a huge terrace with a view to the whole Athens. 30 min walk from the Parthenon, 10 min walk from Syntagma square and the metro. Awesome price too (at least during low season, we were here on early March). Ah, they also gave us this cellphone with 4G to walk around during our stay, thus was a first time, we loved it!!

"Not so good"

05/03/2018

Unluckily I can't give a positive vote for this hotel. The room was quite small, especially the bathroom, with a terribile shower. The bed wasn't a twin bed, but two single beds one besides the other, and it was very unconfortable. The breakfast was nothing special, with low quality food. The only positive thing was the nice personel. The last negative point is the place: Exarchia. It isn't a fault for the hotel, but we were waken up at midnight because of a riot against the police. My fault was that I didn't check the place before booking it, but it seems that this kind of things are quite normal in Exarchia.

We visited the Best Western Museum Hotel for a uni trip. The rooms were far bigger than we expected and super clean! The area is pleasant enough with some shops and lovely bars and restaurants nearby. There were some small riots happening locally but the police were onto it and it gave us a good bit of late night entertainment (nobody was harmed and the police made sure everyone knew it was nothing to worry about). Thanks for the good time!

"Great value, quiet, clean"

18/02/2018

I stayed for 4 nights with my 3 daughters, who range in age from 8-15. We had a family suite, which comfortably slept all 4 of us. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly and competent, and the breakfast spread is well above average. The location is a bit off the beaten path, although it is literally next door to the Archeaoligical Museum. It is also next door to a University, and since Greek youth are fond of protesting, our first two nights were a bit more exciting than I anticipated! Nothing dangerous, and my girls were thrilled to be able to watch an actual protest, but to be on the safe side, I made sure we were back to the hotel as soon after dark as possible. Since there is a nice lounge with a "bar" we did not feel confined to our rooms, and the staff waited on us attentively. I should also add that we felt like everything we needed was within easy walking distance, including very good restaurants, a pharmacy, and a little grocery store for snacks, etc. My daughters and I all agreed that we would happily stay here again. We were very happy with our stay.

"Nice enough hotel"

17/01/2018

This hotel is located in the central part of town yet it is a bit "shady" walking out at night. When I was there i saw garbage bins being set on fire and placed on the street a block away from the hotel on more than one occasion. There is an ok breakfast buffet that is served every morning. The rooms have AC that works well and are quiet enough to sleep through the night. However, the bathrooms have showers that leak notoriously and soak the floor. Also, my tv was not functioning, and it was not fixed for the entirety of my 4 day stay. the hallways and elevators are very cramped. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

Good hotel. Rooms are very clean and provided with a free mobile phone which lets you make unlimited international phone calls completely free - not only in the room, also anywhere in Athens during your stay. The hotel has a nice rooftop terrace if you need a break from the busy streets. The area around the hotel can be considered rather calm for being in downtown Athens.

"Very comfortable stay"

We were a group of 5 couples and stayed for 2 nights and again for 3 nights. The hotel staff and management were very helpful and friendly. They kept our bags while we toured Mykonos and Santorini. They also obliged by storing our frozen home cooked food in the freezer. The rooms in the main building are compact with a balcony. If you are three people then they have bigger rooms in adjoining building ( entrance in the same) Like most of Athens there are grafetti everywhere. Since this hotel is right behind the polytechnic university ( which has a long history of protests) you might feel intimidated but it is perfectly safe. Hotel will call a taxi for you so no need to walk at night. It was 4 - 6 Euro to Syntagma Square or Plaka. Hotel also packed breakfast for us as we had an early morning ferry. The staff if super nice and smiling. Great breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice ( unique machine) great coffee. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We were reaching athens and had a tour booked for four days to major sights in greece. We wanted a room for a night. We decided to go for time tested Best Western brand. The best western museum was centrally located close to Archaeological museum. We got an uber for 29€ from the airport. We were a family of three and to our surprise they upgraded us to a four bed room. The room was big and very spacious. Everything neat and clean. The bath was also good. The room was quiet and the bed and pillows all were great. Absolute value for money.

Excellent staff. Antonis at the front desk and the young man working with him were extremely kind and helpful. We had stayed in Corfu and rented cars and drove back to Athens. After a long day in the car, there help, service and assistance was a breath of fresh air. Lovely hi hotel and the view from the roof is breath taking. Love Greece but not driving a rental in downtown Athens. I strongly suggest take a cab.

great staff and lovely accommodations. Staff was so helpful. The city was a bit overwhelming and the staff quickly helped us order in food. We had 11 in our party and they helped us tremendously. Great job

"Great service at the reception. Very near the Athens Archeological Museum which is a must."

The reception employees gave us the information we needed to walk around and recommended good restaurants in this area. Great welcome from Lena in the morning in the breakfast room and good food offered. Diane & Paul Brault, Montréal, Québec

Really nice hotel, good location, clean and tidy, good breakfast spend 2 nights here whislt touring Greece ideal base from which to visit the city. A short walk takes you to the heart of the city and it is next door to the museum

"Some decent pros, but also serious cons"

3
17/10/2017

To start with, this is a decent hotel, but there are serious cons. Pros: - value for money - location, if your interested in the very fine Archaeological Museum, only 2 min away - breakfast - staff, friendly and well trained - free, good wifi - cleanliness - house keeping - fairly large LCD TV - minibar - safe - free bottle of water on arrival Cons: - size of room - size of bathroom - rough towels - uncomfortable beds - shower with plastic curtain! - slow, small elevators - poor toiletries - insuficient storage space for two people in a twin room - only free TV channels (usual bore, but not a big deal since no one comes to Athens for that) - LOCATION (again): this is a dangerous-looking area of Athens, rife with pick-pockets, thieves, drug addicts and refugees. All tourists should pay maximum and constant attention to their belongings while in the vicinity of the hotel.

"Super staff in a fairly basic facility"

03/10/2017

My wife and I spent 3 nights in this hotel and while we found our room clean and comfortable we missed extras like coffee/tea making facilities The small fridge was useful. The bathroom was very small (not unusual in Greece) and it was impossible to shower without a fair drenching of the bathroom floor- good towels though. Breakfast was the same every morning, but what was on offer showed that the varied tastes of guests were considered. The staff were exceptional, cheerfully answering all our queries and steering us to a pleasant restaurant nearby(Atitamos) Apart from being so close to the Museum the hotel is not really in a convenient tourist area.

"One night in Athens center"

29/09/2017

A good hotel close to the museum of Athens. The room was nice but without view cause around are block of flats. The breakfast was ok can be better and the service was very good. If you are looking for a good hotel and not expensive in the center of Athens I recommend this hotel.

"Great value friendly staff!"

27/09/2017

This is a great friendly value for money hotel! If you can't afford the higher prices of the plaqa area this hotel is close to local transport and is just a thirty minute walk to the plaqa and all its history. Our room on the 6th floor had a small balcony but there is also a rooftop with day loungers tables and chairs, it has views of the Acropolis and surrounding mountains! We took our scrabble and a bottle of retsina and had it to ourselves! The breakfast is excellent with great coffee fresh juice and many hot and cold selections. The reception staff are friendly and very helpful. If you buy a ticket for the tourist bus the stop for the museum is just two minutes walk away and an easy ride into Athens old town.

"Cheap and cheerful hotel "

12/09/2017

My first time in Athens and I didn't really know where to stay or what the level of accommodation was going to be like. I only had a few days after a cruise and I didn't want to spend too much and so I booked this hotel. It's one of the Best Western chain and it is located behind the National Museum. The room was small but clean it had a balcony and everything you needed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. You are walking distance (about 20 - 30 mins) to the main city sites and (3 - 5 mins) public transportation but the immediate area is a bit dodgy.

"Very good choice!"

12/09/2017

We spend one night only, but it was perfect. I booked double room, when we arrived at the reception told me that we will stay at honeymoon apartment and I think, that the receptionist is makin joke, but when we arrived at the last floor and open the door of the room, we saw huge room which was more than amazing with big terrace and very nice view to the city. Fully recommend this hotel.

"Slightly disappointed "

Checked in no problem , good room for money charged. Asked for room service but told " we are too busy if you want tea come down and get it ". Room had a bath but couldn't use it as no plug. Breakfast was good.

"Nice clean"

08/09/2017

The hotel was budget but more than ok. Clean , nice room. Friendly staff . But I did not liked the neighbourhood. It's a run down area and it's feels not safe. The walk to the nearest metro station was scary. Better take a taxi

"Excellent staff, location and breakfast"

06/09/2017

His is a very nice hotel with a great staff and service. The breakfast was included in our reservation and it was just the right way to start our day. It has a roof top where you can check out the Parthenon and another hill with a church on the top, at night they look really cool. There are some supermarkets near the hotel and the National archeological museum right in front where you can take the hop on hop off bus. It is located 3 blocks away from a pedestrian street where you can find nice restaurants but please be careful at night. Usually nothing happens we didn't know the first night so we went out very late walking. But one taxi driver said that sometimes a group fights with the police very late and we had to be careful. The rooms are small but very nice, clean, and comfortable. I really recommend this hotel since is at a very nice price and very nice located.

"Great hotel - just totally the wrong area!!!"

2
06/09/2017

We stayed here for 2 nights. Arriving in the daytime, we found the graffiti covered area fun and were told this is the 'style' of the area. The actual hotel is fabulous, the staff VERY helpful and the rooms very clean and spacious. HOWEVER, you do NOT want to walk back to this hotel at night adults or families! in the day time we walked to the centre of town and felt perfectly safe, it is at night where things drastically change. On our 2nd night we were 'treated' to live entertainment form our balcony to the room, watching rioters and riot police literally beneath us - petrol bombs and all! my kids were terrified - as was I at that point but when I called to reception I was told this was nothing out the ordinary and all fine!!!! even when we left for the airport at 4am, we could see from the taxi riot police still at on various corners. Having now researched the area, it is basically the heartland of the protest movement. As I said, it is a great great hotel if you could just lift it up and transport it to a different area.

"2 night stay in Athens"

28/08/2017

We arrived in Athens airport on a saturday evening. The metro station at the airport took us to within 10 minute walk to this hotel. At night this can be quite scary and i wouldn't suggest doing this with kids. A lot of police riot vans where around and the area seemed a little on edge. The hotel itself was fairly pleasant. The staff are friendly and will help you as much as you can. The hotel had good wifi and the bed was comfortable. The shower is a little bit small and leaked onto the floor as the basin wasn't very deep. The location is ok apart from the one street that we had to walk down at the side of the museum. There was a little homeless shanti shacks with stray dogs hanging around and isn't well lit at night. Other than the few minor issues, we had a nice stay at the hotel, however we didn't really enjoy Athens as much as we thought we would have.

"Good value stay in Graffiti District"

27/08/2017

Last time I was in Athens was a long time ago and I slept a few nights there in a sleeping bag on a rooftop whilst inter-railing with a few mates. This time with family on board I needed a hotel and somehow ended up at the Best Western Museum Hotel. The hotel is perfectly located for the National Archaeological Museum. A five-minute walk to the entrance and in my view the Museum is a must see. The hotel also seems to be in the middle of Graffiti-Athens and, in this area (museum, Exãrhia, Neãpoli), hardly a wall and building has been spared the pen of “artists”. We were placed on the 5th floor in a family room overlooking the Tositsa road that runs down alongside the museum and only two floors away from the rooftop garden that offers great views of the city including the Acropolis and Lycabettus (Likavitos) Hill. We had a small balcony overlooking the road that was quiet day and night. Pleasant enough to sit and watch the world go by but nothing special. Athens and August = heat ,and so air con is a must and ours was OK but we could not set it to go down lower that 18 degrees C. Some issues need addressing: The shower head holder was broken so in the shower you had to scrub with one hand and hold the shower head above your head with the other. A bit of DIY with one of the of the shower rail rings sorted it out but it still needs fixing. The plug in the sink was also broken. Our room was quite clean but needed a good old dusting; some areas do not seem to have been visited with a duster for years. I placed one of our bags on top of the wardrobe and when I pulled it down 4 days later it was like pulling it out of the bowels of a big vacuum cleaner. Dust everywhere. The lift is a bit of a waste of space but we were all the fitter for its uselessness, having to trek up the stairs to our room 3-4 times a day. Did not opt for breakfast that was offered at €8 a head; it did not look that appetising. Strongly suggest you either pop over to the museum café that is free to enter, serves nice food, has good air con and it's in a really pleasant location. Or for a cheaper option head down Bouboulinas St and round the corner to the Fast Good café on Exarchion Square. A light pastry/muffin/coffee/freshly squeezed orange juice breakfast there cost around €10 for 4! We had breakfast there three days running and also popped over for late coffees and ice cream before going to bed. We were best of mates with the staff there at the end of our stay but never managed to work out how so many people rung the buzzer and entered the toilet, and so few returned. We did not ring the buzzer and enter to find out! The bar area of the hotel is a nice place to hang around before heading off into the heat. Location not great for the Athens underground stops, but no big deal as we just walked around the city. Free WI FI was OK. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and could not do enough to help. Their suggestion that we eat up the road in the Ama Lachei Restaurant (Kallidromiou 69, Athina 106 83) was an excellent one. Highly recommended. All in all this was good pretty good value

Stayed for a short business trip, 2 nights in August beginning. Was a bit put off by the surrounding area, too much graffiti for my taste, but once you get over it , its all good. right behind the archaeological museum...we had a few hours to spare and it was well worth the time. Some nice places to eat near by..... Acropolois is almost walk able....staff is pleasant...rooms decent...breakfast great! Great place to stay if on a short business trip!

"Welcoming peaceful hotel"

23/08/2017

Sure, the hotel is situated in a "special" district (as our taxi driver said), but it's only 20 minutes by foot from the main attractions and during the day it's as safe as any other big city center. The staff is just amazing, always ready to help with a smile. The breakfast is nice, with fresh orange juice you make yourlelf in a machine at the entrance of the breakfast room. The room is clean, big comfy bed, the bathroom a little bit oldish but does the trick We really appreciated our stay in this hotel.

"Very good hotel"

17/08/2017

We stayed there for three nights with a family of five in two rooms. Very good service. Only surprise: the National Museum is next to the rebellious student area where Alexis Tsipras grew up, but in late July all was quiet. The hotel recommends a nice restaurant street not far from the hotel.

"Great value"

5
14/08/2017

Convenient location less than a 10-minute walk from the Omonia Metro station and right by the National Archeological Museum. Plenty of restaurants within a 3-4 minute walk. Very clean rooms and helpful, friendly staff. Kostas especially seems to be everywhere and can't do enough for the guests. Very nice rooftop lounge with a view of the Parthenon. The area doesn't look great with a lot of graffiti but all of Athens is covered with graffiti anyway. Felt very safe walking around near the hotel day or night. Great complimentary breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

"The best staff ever"

08/08/2017

The staff was the thing that impressed me the most. They are all very kind! The location is good as well, with a view on the Acropolis. The cleanliness is perfect and the beds are really comfy. I would definitely go back there!

"Great hotel, wonderful service"

02/08/2017

We arrived late with a transprtation arrenged for us through the reservation center. We were very wolcome to a spacious room. Very clean and great a.c and a nice balcony. The staff was very nice. Location is good. Close to nice area with cafes open till late night hours and very early morning.

"Great service and value for money."

01/08/2017

If my room at this hotel was larger, I would give it five stars. Service was highly professional, yet friendly and warm. Breakfast was plentiful, with warm and cold options.I did not find the location to be a disadvantage: it is walking distance from the Exarheia neighborhood known for its artists, bohemians and great restaurants at affordable prices. It is about ten minutes walk from the metro/subway/train stations, and near a beautiful museum. On my last visit to Athens, I stayed at the posh and expensive Hotel Grande Bretagne as it was a business trip payed by my employer; sure this was better but it was not any better in terms of access to the Acropolis and other tourist destinations. The Best Western Museum Hotel offers very good value for money.

"Decent Hotel, Not in Main Tourist Area"

3
01/08/2017

I stayed here solo during a one day layover in Athens and wanted inexpensive but clean accommodations before a long flight home the next day. The hotel was decent - room was clean, staff very professional, air conditioner worked well. I had a door where my room could have been adjoining to the next room, and I could hear my neighbors very clearly. Fortunately they weren't noisy. To get to the hotel via metro took over an hour from the airport with a cost of 10 euro for the one way ticket via the direct line to Syntagma station, then a change to the red line to Omonia. From there it was a 15 minute walk to the hotel. I was there on a Sunday, so almost all of the businesses along the way we're closed. The area is a bit run down, a lot of graffiti for sure, but overall felt safe. I walked from the hotel to the Monastzraki area for dinner and it took 25 minutes or so, with very little to see along the way - not sure if this was just because it was a Sunday. The National Archaeology Museum was directly across the street, so that is very convenient. The stay was decent for the price.

"DECENT HOTEL"

Great customer service. No the best location . Breakfast is ok bottom line nice people works for the hotel Room , Bed and Bathroom little but It is ok to stay or to sleep only. Around 5 block of the Metro Station.

"People are the best feature"

4
27/07/2017

We stayed only for one night but the efficiency, professionalism, cordiality and helpfulness of the staff amazed us. We arrived while it was raining and they insisted on going out in the rain to carry our luggage; they did the same thing the following morning on our check out. They quickly provided my elderly mother with a chair while we waited for check in, which was fast and efficient. They gave us an upgrade although it was a one night stay, recommended a great restaurant for dinner and had us directions as well. The room was spacious, with a balcony and all the necessary amenities. Thanks to the staff, hats off to you.

"Great value, location & service"

24/07/2017

Family of 11, 3 rooms. Hotel is in a good location, however the neighborhood is very run down. Upon arrival, a very cheerful staff greets you. There are several stairs to climb to get to the central elevator, which is very small. The staff happily gets your bags to your rooms, so this is not an issue. Very clean breakfast area with a lovely woman making sure you are seated and comfortable. Rooms are very clean, bathroom is a decent size. Air conditioning is adequate. There is no hotel appointed parking. They suggest a parking garage, but it is several blocks away and not a well lit walk back to the hotel. Many shopping areas are an easy walk in daylight. When you need a cab to town, the hotel will call you one. We loved our stay here!

"Mediocre "

3
20/07/2017

Place is ok to sleep. Showers are small. Bed is comfy. Room is a bit warm. A.C. is loud. Breakfast is not worth the package or 9euro separate charge. Better eat outside at many restaurants. Staff are friendly Hotel location is convenient but area seems dodgy at night.

"Wonderful short stay!"

4
12/07/2017

Olympia Film Festival authority booked the hotel for me. I stayed only one night here before joining the festival at Pyrgos. I had very little time, but I could use my time seeing the museum, that was at a walking distance. The neighborhood was quite and peaceful and the streets were full of ripe oranges. They served a very good breakfast and I must say my short stay was wonderful!

"Average hotel far from tourist attractions but good value"

3
06/07/2017

The hotel was O.K. For the price, it was clean and comfortable. It's in a neighborhood that is literally covered in graffiti (every inch) which made my kids uncomfortable. It's also quite far from any tourist attraction except the National museum. You will need to take the metro or a taxi. Taxis cost us on average 8-10 Euros each way. Also if you want to sleep in after a long flight, find another hotel. Housekeeping started knocking on our door at 8:30 AM. every day. The breakfast is just OK and costs 8 Eu per person. Better to walk to a nearby cafe. This would be great for budget travelers who don't mind the location. It's a decent value for the money but if you can afford more, definitely do it.

"Basic "

3
05/07/2017

The hotel had a good location if you like to see Athens by foot. Located in what is said to be an anarchist area, the city center and Acropolis are a pleasant and easy 25 min walk. There are some nice restaurants in the area (try Ama Laxei, 5 min walk) and there is a supermarket nearby. The staff is very friendly, especially Antonis and Kostas who were really helpful in advising on nice things to do. All considered a great hotel for the price!

"Spent one night and two days "

4
08/06/2017

This hotel was extremely clean and beautiful. The staff were helpful and friendly. The walk to Plaka and Monastriki was only 15 to 20 mins. It sound longer than it feels. But it's quiet short. The only thing is Athens is covered in graffiti every inch of space so the areas feel much more sketchy than they actually are. But this hotel is one of the nicest ones. We were at a different hotel before this one and it was disgusting . The previous hotel was so bad that we had to switch to the Best Western Museo and it was the best thing. The breakfast spread was amazing! They had freshly squeezed orange juice NOT orange aid. They had good pastry, eggs and a lot of variety ! One instance where the staff was amazing was when I needed to send a postcard and I was leaving and the receptionist was so sweet he told me he would send it for me with their mail. This hotel goes over and beyond to cater to your needs and I would gladly recommend it!

"Great value"

4
31/05/2017

It is a 3-star hotel and exceeds expectations. Comfortable rooms. Great breakfast. Best of all, the wi-fi was strong throughout the hotel, and unlike the other hotels we stayed at in Greece, it was really fast. The only negative was that the elevator didn't work well if more than three people got in, which meant it was a problem worth luggage. Also, the area it's in seems a little iffy at night.

"Good value for the location"

4
25/05/2017

Rooms are quite basic but everything was fine. No frills, just good location close to the centre of Athens (attractions are about a 20 minute walk). The locale is not touristy but seemed safe enough. Service on arrival was very friendly, greeted with a glass of orange juice, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was decent.

"Loved Staying Here"

5
20/05/2017

Of all the hotels/B&Bs we stayed at during our two weeks in Europe, this was mine and my family's favorite. The staff were nice and very helpful. They spoke good English and were able to help me find places my fussy family would eat. They even got a hold of the tour company that was supposed to pick us up and communicated with them for us. The room was fine for my family. It was right near the National Archeology Museum (also highly recommend). The rooftop terrace was perfect. I loved seeing the Acropolis at night from up there.

"Misused my credit card online"

1
02/05/2017

Used booking.com to book a room 2 months ahead and I used free cancellation no charge option. However they had charged me the full amount on my credit card the very next day. I cancelled my booking when I got to know about this but the transaction has not been cancelled (although it's free cancellation as it states on the confirmation) I called the hotel and the receptionist was very unhelpful and was like 'sorry I can't help you with this ' and put me on hold and cut the line. AVOID USING CREDIT CARD BOOKINGS ONLINE AT ALL COSTS FOR THIS HOTEL.

"Good budget hotel about 2km from the city centre"

4
27/04/2017

We don't mind a lengthy stroll to City Centre tourist attractions so had no hesitation in booking this hotel at an exceptional rate for our 9 night stay. Indeed, we found it to be such good value for money that daily taxi travel to the likes of the Acropolis is probably cost-effective compared with more central hotel rates. Although the archaeological museum entrance and several excellent, good value tavernas are available within 5 minutes walk the surrounding streets are littered with rubbish and (often offensive) graffiti and therefore somewhat intimidating until you get used to it. There is a bus stop outside the hotel but the nearest metro stations are about 1km distant. The hotel itself is clean with very friendly staff and our room at least was very comfortable albeit with only limited clothes storage facilities and a relatively basic shower. Breakfast is OK, essentially continental with omelettes and sausage on offer. There is decent free WiFi and a free safety deposit box but the bar offers only a basic range of drinks (beer only in cans). The overall package suited us in view of the very competitive price.

"Good location, service, clean & nice rooms"

5
24/04/2017

We stayed here early april for 5 nights (Opening weekend Documenta 14). Really everything was according to what is promised. Good central location ( Exarchia) close to Metro. Good eating opportunities in the neighborhood: Chez Violette, I Kriti, Atitamos and more near Exarchia Square. Hotel has also good breakfast buffet + fresh fruit, fresh baked bread & fresh juice (not included but very reasonable prized :€8 p.p.).

"A good hotel for a short stay"

4
10/04/2017

The Best Western Museum hotel is a good option if your are looking for a short stay. Stayed in during early April, rooms are a bit small but not too tight also.Breakfast options are limited but decent. Location is just perfect as there are good eating options around the hotel & also few convenience stores. Famous plaka is just a 10 mins cab ride. A special mention for the front desk & service staff who are always ready for help & support.

"Best Western Museum"

Nice comfortable and above all very clean room, with all modern conveniences. We stayed only two nights but we are going to book again in this hotel on our next trip to Athens. We enjoyed the nice view from tne 7 th floor veranda. The location is also very conenient and close to the city centre

DON'T STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!! I am still waiting for my refund of a charge made by booking a room with no evidence of what it actually consisted of. I saw a whole run of photos and believed my booking of a double room was represented in this. The extremely rude manager of this hotel had no idea how to deal with my complaint and was awful. They are supposed to have refunded the charge of £41.64 plus transaction fee of £1.14 (total of £42.58) made to my Bank account on 26th January 2017. I had booked a double room and afterwards received the picture of it.... it was staggering as they had two single beds end to end (not next to each other!) in a very narrow awful looking room. I phoned the Hotel to say this was totally unacceptable and received a round of abuse from the Manager and a refusal for an immediate refund. Booking.com contacted him and he agreed with them to refund and cancel any stay there for us .... SO WHERE IS THE REFUND????? STILL WAITING for it at end of MARCH!!!!! Booking a room at the Best Western Museum Hotel was a total MISTAKE... DON'T!!!

"No frills, standard hotel."

28/11/2016

This place might not be very sexy but it'll do the trick if you're trying to get to the National archeological museum early the next day. The neighbourhood isn't the prettiest but it's perfectly safe and you can walk down the bigger road and be in Plaka in about 10 minutes. Or just take a cab for 5 eur. Staff were very friendly when we arrived, offered drinks and were quick to help out. Place has ok wifi, not quick enough for youtube nor netflix though.Rooms are spacious enough and it's very clean. Plenty of hot water. Payed 8 euros a head for breakfast which wasn't anything special. Would stay again if I was going to the museum.

"Good hotel, so-so neighbourhood"

21/11/2016

My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel mid-November. It is quite new and the staff welcoming. The room and the bed were comfortable enough for a 3-star hotel. It is located 15 minutes away from the Omonia metro station so you can get easily into the city. The neighbourhood is a bit dodgy with lots of graffiti on the walls. Many shops were also closed. We were not properly advised on the riots that take place every year in the area near the hotel, with numerous streets closed and policemen throwing tear-gas at manifestants. Overall, good value for money if you don't mind the not so charming neighbourhood.

"Very Good Hotel Choice"

The Best Western Museum is kitty corner to the National Archealogical Museum and is walking distance to everything in central Athens. The rooftop terrace has nice views, a bonus. We don't have many hotels with these in Canada! Staff are very helpful. Apparently the owner also owns a couple other Best Westerns in Athens. Judging by the way this hotel is run, all would ne safe bets.

"Good Service and staff."

Plus + Had great wifi, on the 5th floor. Can't hear traffic at night, as it's on a sleepy back road. Only a 3min walk away from the museum. Also at the front of the museum is the city sightseeing tour bus. Where you can hop and off at any time. (buy a ticket via online, its a little cheaper) Mini bar fridge in room. With x2 complimentary bottles of water. 13min walk to the very busy city centre. Negs - I wouldn't recommend as a solo lady traveler. Being alone after dark. If your a couple, not problem at all. (but there's certainly not gangs of people hanging around at night and on the street corners) But it is located in a sleepy area. Conclusion. I would stay there again? Yes.

"Great service"

From the moment we arrived early, the service was terrific, friendly and responsive to our needs. We arrived early and instead of having to store our luggage until 3 pm, they gave us a room. The hotel backs onto the National Archeological Museum, which was very convenient for a rainy day visit. Across the street from the museum is the stop for the hop-on, hop-off buses, which is a good way to schlep bags from the cruise port for a lot less than a taxi, and then hop on again without the bags for sightseeing later. The beds and bathroom were very comfortable. The room was small but not cramped with 2 free bottles of water in the fridge. There was a small lounge a few steps down from the main floor and a good and varied breakfast included. There's even a squeeze your own orange juice station. When we needed to leave for the airport, staff again were very helpful with options and costs and phoned a taxi for us. They even helped us take our luggage out to the taxi. And we got all this for well under $100/night. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

The staff and service were excellent. Location was great and the cleanliness exceeded my expectations. My only complaint was a noisy air conditioner. Got a different room on a second stay and had a whisper quiet air conditioner. Overall I believe the hotel represents excellent value for money.

Its a budget property affiliated to Best Western chain. The rooms offer all the basic modern facilities and the staff is courteous. Appreciate the complimentary upgrade they offered me. Only reason to give rating of 3 instead of 4, is the location of the property which could be a little eerie in night

Although the room was small, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They always had a smile on their face and answered to all of our needs. We spent 5 days with them.We had our breakfast at the hotel. they have a lovely breakfast buffet every morning. The front desk staff helped us find delicious restaurants for lunch/dinner. They helped us with excursions around Athens. Kostav was always ready to help us with luggage, directions, even some much needed beverages as soon as we arrived while we were checking in. We had a problem with our flight home because of the air traffic controllers striking. The staff were bending over backwards to help us deal with this problem. The hotel is close to downtown Athens. you can walk to the ruins if you are feeling energetic. There is a great Museum right beside the hotel too. We spent hours in it. When I have a chance to return to Athens, I will be happy to stay with the Museum Hotel.

What we've got for what we've paid well worth it. The breakfast was nice the room was decent size the bathroom was big, the hotel was very clean. We had a balcony which is a very nice feature but the neighborhood is not the best one. There is graffiti everywhere and some garbage as well. If you need a nice place to stay that night at place where you can leave your luggage and leave for the day I think it's the perfect spot but if you plan to stay in the area and visit the surrounding of the hotel during the day and at night I think you will be very disappointed.

The area is also occupied by students and academics due to the proximity of the Polytechnic University. 29/09/2016

The reception staff were really helpful. 10 minute walk to the underground. 3 stops to the Acropolis. Breakfast was good. If you leave before breakfast in the morning they will give you a lunch box. Rooms have balconies and there is roof terrace where you can see the Acropolis on a night time. Take the lift to level 7 and walk up the stairs. The area is covered in graffiti, the standard of graffiti is shocking.... Nothing worth looking at apart from 1 or two pieces out of 100,000! It's not a place to meet other travellers. I used the hotel for a night then left Athens. The price is good for what you pay for.

We only stayed overnight in transit to the airport for an early morning flight. The location is just right for access to a lively square full of restaurants etc., as well as plenty of shops along the main highway. "Excellent Value in the Centre of Athens"

5
28/09/2016

I stayed here for a few days recently, during a leisure trip to Athens, as a solo traveller. I had previously visited Athens several times over the years and wanted to see how the city and its environs were faring at the moment. I was looking for a good value hotel in the centre of the city and certainly found it with the Museum hotel. It's a 15 minute walk from the Omonia Square Metro station, although one could take a trolleybus ride for most of the distance if desired. I personally found the walk easy and interesting, and while the general area around the hotel is somewhat run down, at no time did I feel the least bit unsafe, even when I walked to Omonia Square at 5 am in the dark. On arrival at the hotel, the staff were warm and welcoming, as they were throughout my stay. I asked for a room on a higher floor and received a compact double room on the 6th floor. This was very quiet and more than adequate for me as a solo traveller, and although there wasn't much of a view from the room, just one floor up there was a roof terrace/garden with fabulous views over the city. The room contained pretty well all the amenities and features one would expect from a 3-star hotel, including a comfortable double bed, excellent air conditioning, fridge, safe, ensuite, etc, etc. The free in-room wi-fi also worked very well, and the complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent and much more than a regular continental breakfast set-up, with several hot dishes. The hotel certainly exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely stay here again should I visit Athens again.

Wanted a mid priced hotel close to the centre of Athens and chose the Great Western Museum. The area is riddled in graffiti but don't let that fool you, all of Athens in covered in graffiti. The hotel is lovely, comfortable and the staff very helpful. Only a 15 minute walk to Amonia Square and another 15 to Syntagma Square. Hotel is only 150m from the Tour Bus stop which is also a big plus. Rood top views are beautiful.

We had a very nice experience with the hotel, which was very clean, the rooms nicely furbished (AC worked well), the beds were really comfortable. The staff are extremely welcoming, ready to help at any time. Clean modern hotel... Rooms have satellite TV balconies etc... About 10/15 from metro and right beside a square of cafes and bars so you dont have far to stumble home....The hotel has a bar at reception which is very forgettable however on the 7th floor is a roof garden with tables which is much more exciting memorable and you can bring your drinks up there.. The reception and concierge staff are exceptional both with making the guest feel welcome and wanted and directing them to various tourist attractions.. If you are travelling alone or the person who has to organise everything for your group all the time you will really appreciate these guys ..Breakfast wont blow your mind but it has real orange juice and is €8 wont blow the budget... Really good hotel and good value for money... safe area I will be going again........ Mandy from Ireland...

"Good hotel, not a great neighborhood"

4
09/09/2016

This is a good hotel with very polite staff. Employees are ready to help guests even when it's not mandatory. This is a budget to middle-range hotel and staff really exceeds expectations for such a hotel. The hotel itself is ok- nothing spectacular but good enough. Clean and adequate. Nice large balconies, ok beds and furniture. Rooms are ok size (in our opinion) but the bathrooms could be a bit bigger. Not so much of a problem, though. Good breakfast with a fresh orange juice! The only noticeable minus is the neighborhood. It is just not particularly pretty or representative. That being said, it does not matter that much. The location is close enough to the major tourist attractions (just a few metro stops away) and metro itself is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The taxi from Plaka is about 5 euro, which is pretty good. All in all, the location itself is not so bad - it is a good choice for those looking for a more affordable option that is still somewhat close to the attractions. It's just that the street and the neighborhood itself is not particularly pretty or representative. I wouldn't say we felt unsafe but it wasn't the best first impression of Athens for us. Not such a big deal, though - the hotel itself is clean and service is ok so it's worth choosing it. Again, the reception staff is very nice and helpful, which is a huge plus. Another minus - small elevators. Not a big deal but keep this in mind if you have huge bags!

"Good Hotel, Great Value"

4
30/08/2016

We arrived in Athens in the late evening and walked from the Omonia metro station to the hotel. This wasnt a good experience. The area is badly run down with a lot of dodgy people hanging around. It felt quite dangerous. However the immediate area of the hotel is ok and if you walk a short distance you can find some nice bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is good. Clean and tidy with very helpful staff. The breakfast is good with a good selection. The hotel is located right beside the archaeological museum which is definitely worth a visit. I think that Athens generally is more run down and risky than any other European city I have been in so be warned.

"Good location, but a city location"

21/08/2016

The room was large and the bathroom was fine. We had a corner room with a large balcony, and we had a nice view from the roof deck. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The location coming from the museum is a little dingy, but if you are accustomed to cities, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Walkable to interesting cafes and restaurants, and not a bas walk to metro stations. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here, but if the price is competitive for the hotels at which you are looking, it's a good choice.

The Best Western Museum Hotel was a short drive to the acropolis. It was a short walk from the metro as well. The accommodations were cozy, but high quality. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. I would stay here again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the room: spacy, clean and nice. Close to the center. We arrived by metro and only had a short walk to find the hotel. The akropole was 2 metro stops away. After having a drink in the Plaka area, we found our way back by foot - about 20min (you can also take the metro but we prefered an evening stroll). The hotel clerc was so very helpful giving us all the information on the visits and how to get to the port.

"Proximate to the National Archaeological Museum"

29/07/2016

Situated in an otherwise quiet residential district, there is a great deal to recommend the Best Western Museum Hotel: rooms are clean and quiet, the breakfast is more than adequate, and selected staff members are friendly and helpful. There are also a few drawbacks: after breakfast, there is no food service in the hotel and the closest restaurants are a long walk away, there is no currency exchange, and front desk personnel seemed to have little interest in guests. It is also worth noting that our room appeared to have been vacant for a while and had an unappealing smell when we first checked in. While the hotel is some distance from the principal archaeological sites, cabs are cheap in Athens and we found that a 5 or 6 euro ride brought us to the Acropolis and Agora without difficulty.

"Bad neighborhood, junkies sleeping a few steps from the entrance of the hotel. Dirty rooms"

1
25/07/2016

Cleannes: the room was very dirty. The carpet on the floor was greasy, full of stains. The shower curtain etc. The hotel its self needs a refresh. Everything in our room looked liked a used '90's hotel. Facilities: we hardly managed to turn on the AC, but after that we couldn't stop or change its settings. 16 degrees, full power. Location: behind National Museum of Archeology, 5-7 minutes walk to Omonoia Station (2 metro stations away from Syntagma, 3 to Acropolis Station). The problem was the the neighborhood itself. Dirty (sure, Athens its self is dirty, but this... ), full of graffiti painted walls, junkies (no, really - 20 meters from the entrance of the hotel you can walk on syringes), human poop etc.

"Great value in an odd location"

06/07/2016

This was our first stop on our European vacation so we ended up spending two nights here. The hotel is located one block away from the main road. There were two adults and two teens in our room which had enough space for us to walk around in. The room and hotel is nothing spectacular but it was the perfect fit for us on the price level and convenience into the main tourist areas of the city. Breakfast was included and they had a good assortment of food and fresh squeezed orange juice, the coffee could've been better. In the evening ask the front desk the direction to the plaza where the locals hang out. You walk a few blocks down a dark street with walls vandalized with graffiti. This is a very happening pedestrian area where the locals hang out and enjoy an evening filled with music and cheer.

06/07/2016

We stayed for 3 nights and concluded the following: Pros: decent breakfast, nice/friendly/helpful front staff, perfectly situated if you want to visit the musem or university - it's a 2 minute walk. Cons: VERY sketchy neighbourhood (The first night we stayed in our room as it looked and sounded scary outside. There were people sleeping on matresses in the area next to the hotel and the next day we saw needles strewn on the ground); The hotel is not very close to the subway to take you to central Athens but there are buses closeby. The rooms were a bit dated, not very clean and the bathrooms were REALLY small (and I'm a small person).

"Value for money in the city centre of Athens (Greece)"

01/07/2016

Museum is situated at the back of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens in the city centre. It's a 10 minute walk to the Metro station Omonoia. Nice, affordable restaurants around the corner with good food. Very nice and helpful staff, good and elaborate breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. Maybe the interior of the hotel is a bit out-dated, everything worked. Good long beds!

First ...The location is just right. Its 10 to 15 minutes away from the Metro both red line and the junction at Omonia. The maj attractions are all just one or three metro stops away except port area ofcourse. The staff is wonderful and assists with a smile. The rooms are just about OK. If u are looking for a bit of luxury ..its not the pace; however, that being said we were a family of three and were comfortable in the room. It is definately recommended and would consider it next time around in Athens

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago on a trip with my other half. Nice clean hotel, rooms are clean and well presented although not the biggest. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a rooftop garden and a restaurant, neither of which we visited. Only thing to be wary of is the area isn't the greatest-while it's a fab location and only 5-10 mins walk from Omonia, the area borders Exarhia which at night can be a bit dodgy.

26/06/2016

We had booked 2 economy rooms but in order to keep us next to each other, one room was upgraded free of charge which was a real bonus. We were only there 1 night but ideal for what we needed. The basic room was that but was very clean and comfortable. The upgrade room was bigger with nicer bathroom. Friendly helpful staff and liked the extra touches like free fresh orange juice and mineral water in the bar. Good breakfast. Pretty good location, behind museum but too far to walk to old city and acropolis area but buses close and metro about 10-15 minutes walk. Word of warning - get hotel to book taxi or check fare carefully - our fare via them to old city was less that 4euros (really good valued) and the taxis are very good but we got our first taxi outside museum where he lied to us (said there was protest and would have to take long route and fee 15 euro) there was no protest and he dropped us off nowhere near where we asked after 5 minutes - heyho, you live and learn!

"Good hotel"

24/06/2016

We were offered tea and coffe while waiting for our rooms. Our rooms were economy 2 single beds, but the layout of the room was not in any of the picture on hotels.com, so we weren't happy of that. The room was in shape of a rectangle and the double beds were one behind each other and not beside eachother( there was no way to put them beside each other because of the shape of the room). So after a discussion with the reception, they were understandable that the information was not shown neither said in any of the pages on hotels.com. They changed the rooms for us and promise they will change this in the website for further on. I want to underline the understanding and the courtesy of the staff at the reception. The hotel was clean, the location is very good as you can walk to many touristic areas , we also got the athens bus tour and we were able to hop in from near out hotel ( museum) first thing in the morning. We were two couples and we loved this hotel for its value and its location. We recommend.

I note some mixed reviews for this Hotel. I found my stay was fine, and all Staff were Helpful and Friendly. Yes there are no Kettles in your Room, but you don't stay indoors when you are in Athens, Breakfast was included in the Room Rate, and within minutes were plenty of places for Drinks, Meals and Snacks. You can get a Bus to the Ferry Port of Rafina, just 6/7 mins away from Hotel, and only cost me under 3 Euros. You can walk into the Old Town in about 30 mins, or take the Metro for access everywhere. The nearest Station is 15 mins away. If you want a more Central Location, you will pay much more. I found this Hotel very acceptable.

"Would never stay here again..."

2
11/06/2016

I stayed here at the beginning of June 2016. Good Points: Rooms kept very clean. Breakfast was half decent, good coffees etc. Lovely view of the Acropolis from the roof. Bad Points: The night manager and breakfast team weren't friendly at all (I'd say rude, but maybe there is a cultural difference here) The plumbing was very bad - when I let the bath out, the water came bubbling out of the drain in the middle of the floor, soaking my clothes, and spurting black bits everywhere - I was not warned about this so you can imagine my horror. There is no kettle/tea/coffee in the room, which is standard in most places, so you're looking at 3 euros for just a cuppa! Beds were rock hard. The air con didn't work properly, which in 38 degree heat is a real disaster! The hotel states free wifi, but it only actually allows you to use Facebook, and is patchy at the best of times.

"Good value decent hotel next to Archaeological Museum"

5
06/06/2016

I've had a look at other comments, and I find it difficult to understand the complaints from some reviewers. We thought that in terms of value for money, this hotel is great. We had a clean room, very comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the museum where we could see brilliant sunsets and green (presumably escaped) parrots swooping about in the mornings. A big plus was the daily change of towels, which is not usual in a hotel of this price, and most welcome. Decent TV and aircon, and shower room not new, but perfectly functioning and clean. The staff are invariably polite, helpful and hardworking. I'm bemused by people's attitude to Athens. We were invariably greeted with politeness and kindness by just about everyone we talked with and have left with a very positive regard for Greek people. Free drinks, free food given in cafes and restaurants as extras. Just lovely. Breakfast seems to be a big deal for reviewers, so if you're looking for your 'English' you'll be disappointed. Instead, it's fresh orange juice, fruit of all kinds, cereal, toast, jams and spreads, cheese, olives, yogurt, good coffee, flaky spinach and cheese pies, frittata, apple pies, and for meat eaters there's also ham and sausages. As for the area, we didn't feel even remotely unsafe, but maybe that's because we're Londoners. It felt far safer than much of London, and yes, there was some evidence of substance use, but heroin users don't tend to be aggressive unlike alcohol fuelled parties of people in the West End...it's minimal anyway. We weren't too fazed by the 'Anarchists' either, that some people seem to be concerned about, as they seemed to be busy running the food bank, talking and playing various musical instruments and drawing and painting. It was quite boring for the riot police who attend their events but it was sunny and they chatted amongst themselves. If you want to go out to eat, turn left out of the hotel, walk to the end of the road and turn left again, walking up the hill. You will find numerous nice places with good food at reasonable prices. You won't find loads of tourists, but ordinary decent Athenians having an evening out. We're saving up for a return visit.

"Not a great location but great staff"

3
01/06/2016

It has to be said that the hotel's location is not the best. I was close by the business venue I had to visit so it was convenient but if you're a tourist, it's not convenient and somewhat intimidating. Having said that, there is a nice little street nearby with decent Greek restaurants and a couple of good bars. But don't go near the local park. Sadly the "crisis" is in full evidence and it is quite scary. All the staff I met were lovely. The reception staff were particularly helpful. I had a tiny room (looking on the floor plan possibly the smallest available) which looked out over an internal courtyard. I was on my own so it was fine but a couple (it was a double) might have struggled. Also it had a connecting door to the next room and I could hear every noise. The bed was super comfy. Lovely light duvet and an excellent bed. The bathroom was basic. A shower tray with a handheld shower which meant you had to turn the shower off for even the most basic ablutions (or else flood the bathroom). Overall a basic hotel which suffers from location but benefits from its staff.

"Poor decision if you want silence"

25/05/2016

We have stayed in the hotel in the beginning of May 2016. The people at the reception were very helpful and friendly, the food quality was average (can safely say that there were moldy slices of bread), the room was pretty decent considering the costs. A very disturbing issue was that we were given a room with the balcony surrounded by 2 other walls of the hotel, so no view at all. One night we were very disturbed by the noises from outside (loud music, dog(s) basically howling), and I think this is also due to the position of our room in the hotel - the sound is trapped between the 3 walls outside. Except if you have an emergency and have to SLEEP at this hotel, I wouldn't recommend it at all. They have a lot of stuff to work out before considering this is a 3-star hotel.

19/05/2016

I got an offer of 58 BB for single occupancy. Well, it was not really an offer. This should be the price of the hotel for a night in the middle of the week. Breakfast was OK, not bad. People working there were nice (especially people in the breakfast place) I didn't like the carpet in the room and although it is supposed to be recently renovated, i found nothing really thrilling about it. At all. All in all, it is an OK hotel near the city center.

"Not the best location"

In the Best Western network you can always trust, but if it is your first time in Athens I don't recommend. The location is complicated for first timers because it's a little far from the metro and the region is not that pleasant. For experienced visitors, it is a very good and affordable option.

"Place for scholars, academics, museum enthusiasts."

Clean, well lighted, efficient front desk. 7am breakfast more than enough: fresh squeezed orange juice. Noon check out. About 110 yards to the back corner of the National Archeological Museum which is why you should stay here. Also, this place is just about four blocks from the Atitamos , a Greek traditional restaurant and the second reason you should stay here is to eat there. So, fear not; a real place to eat, a place to sleep and an incomparable museum.

"Good Value But Very Thin Walls"

3
10/05/2016

Upon arrival, there was a lot of construction in the lobby which made it difficult to hear the front desk when checking in. The rooms were small and the bathroom even smaller. But I guess this is what you get for a budget hotel. I found the 5-10 minute walk from the Omonia subway station convenient but just be advised if you're carrying large suitcases, the walk might be a bit difficult. I had an early morning trip to Santorini with the Blue Star Ferry, so it was a big plus that Omonia was on the green line which made it a quick train ride to Piraeus. However, what made my stay a bit unpleasant was how thin the room walls were. I had a 14+ hour flight into Athens so I was hoping for a good night sleep. But by 2am, I could hear people talking very loud - probably coming back from the bars that Friday night. Nevertheless, the hotel was a good deal and it was in a cute neighborhood.

We stayed here for 2 nights, first impressions of the area are dubious however once inside the staff are so incredibly helpful and lovely. The area is just fine, we walked the first night to get Souvlaki and the second to the Plaka for food. This is a great comfy hotel really competitively priced. Free parking as well just outside.

Enjoyed my stay at hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpfful. Rooms are small, but clean and good enough for a city trip. The rooftop terrace is a big plus. Didn't have the breakfast, so can't comment on that. The area around the hotel is very interesting, but should probably avoided when travelling with kids. Full of bars and good and cheap restaurants, but also with a share of drug users and dealers. The next subay (Omonia) is within walking range, so is the bus stop for a nice trip to Cape Sounio.

I booked through hotels.com for a very good price. I was pleasantly surprised by their orange juice machine which was free to use all the time. Breakfast was good and so was the room. I included a visit to the biggest museum in Greece, the National Archeological Museum, which is next door, and the Acropolis Museum, which is very near. Staff was friendly.

"Great staff, good location"

19/04/2016

This hotel met our needs as far as location goes. It's not exactly near by the major sites in Athens, but most are within a 20-30 minute walk. The staff were so helpful and gracious with us. We had several requests during our stay and they met each one with a great attitude that made us feel welcome. The room was clean and the bathroom was huge! The only draw back for us was the firmness of the beds. There were four of us in the room. One of the beds was a sofa converted to a twin bed. The other was a cot with a 3 inch mattress on it. The remaining "main" bed was two twins pushed together. All were very firm to the point of being hard. I will say that the staff and the price made up for the beds though. Overall, good hotel.

"Not what I expected from Best Western"

3
14/04/2016

The hotel on the whole is OK. But the room was far below my expectations. We had a triple room 2 ad + 1 ch, so we had a folding bed in the center of the room (low standard) which left no space at all. Furthermore it appeared that the child's bed is right in front of the air conditioner and we had either to switch it off which was undesirable as it was hot in the room or take the child to our bed (which was not very big). So none of us felt comfortable during the night. We couldn't change the room because we checked in around midnight. The room had a balcony but the one we had faced the opposite wall with no street view at all. The breakfast was average with not enough seats. On the second day we decided to skip the hotel breakfast and to go a local cafe for a really good coffee. During the day time the area is not bad and seems quite safe. You can reach the very center in 15-20 minutes on foot. Though I would not dare walking there late at night. There is a good open air restaurant at the museum square near the hotel. So if you are lucky to get the right room it is not a bad choice.

A good and comfortable hotel for a sort stay. If you like to be where the action happens this is not the right place, it is quite a long walk to the nearest tube station, the area looks quite dodgy but don't worry that's Athens, you are probably safe. The breakfast needs some improvement, the good thing about it is the fresh orange juice. Overall a good choice for what you pay. Please improve the roof top!!!

Had a couple of nights here with my family, (2 teenagers). Good sized rooms with big bathrooms. Clean and comfortable. Payed for breakfast which had a large choice. Best thing was the fresh orange juice. The staff were friendly and helpful. 10min walk to the subway. We had a car and it's free to park. Don't be put off by the exterior, which is a bit grim.

See the acropolis for me was an indescivibile show, I study ancient greek and archeology, and never was there . I want to thank you were really very kind, to stay in Athens thanks to you was very pleasant; I would like to thank the person who was on duty on Sunday afternoon (I can not remember the name, unfortunately) with his help I find an open pharmacy and I bought medicine for my friend that was sick (almost fortunately); many greetings to the person who is usually at the bar, very polite and friendly. I will return to Athens surely as study that ancient world and certainly in your hotel that I recommend without doubt Best wishes and thanks again for everything Loredana

28/03/2016

First of all. The location of this hotel is good. It is located behind the National archaeological museum. The main street towards Omonia square is near by. If you don't want to walk, the is the stop of hop on/off bus. The traffic noice didn't bother us. We had breakfast payed, and it wasn't adisappoinment. You find coffee, juice, fruits Greek youghurt, bread, eggs etc.. Thank you lady of the restaurant :-) - she was also very polite. The men in the lobby were very friendly and gave us an excellent advice to visit a nearby taverna where a group of local musicians played 3½ hours without any break rembetika (local music) - we recommend The rooms were ok. If you only need a place to sleep and have a shower, this is ok. The rooms were cleaned daily. In this hotel you feel welcomed. Next time we will choose this hotel again...

"Free breakfast?"

3
26/03/2016

We booked this hotel as the location was convenient to where we needed to be. The area wasn't the best but once inside the hotel was great. Photographs and previous reviews looked great. We couldn't fault our room except for no kettle for a needy cuppa! Hair dryer was a little strange and didn't really dry! Staff were extremely professional and helpful. On trip advisor It stated free breakfast when booking this hotel... when we confirmed with the hotel they said that on our particular tariff this wasn't the case. Don't state on TripAdvisor that free breakfast is included when it clearly isn't! !

"Quiet, Safe but still easily within reach of the sites, Perfect"

19/03/2016

It is very rare I give an excellent, see my other reviews. I have slammed a 5* in Copenhagen for instance. Having booked late the previous day I was worried that reception would not be ready but they had all my details plus a free glass of orange juice. They carried the bags up not waiting around nor expecting a tip. The room was clean and had everything you need, TV, shower, towels, comfy bed, storage. Above all quietness, I am a really light sleeper and was expecting to suffer in the city. However the room had very good double glassed doors and shutters that closed tight plus decent thick walls and flooring between rooms. The Wifi is the best in any hotel I have stayed in and you can get a free print out of your boarding pass. On the last day you wander around the Archaeological Museum half an hour before having to leave so that you don't waste any time on the holiday. The walk to the nearby cheap Metro at Omnia is really 5 mins and gets you to the centre in a couple of stops. All the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Downsides, just to prove this isn't a fake review. The room had no hairdryer. The TV had no English channels. CNN or BBC Worldwide would be nice to catch the weather. The Greek plumbing and Graffiti nearby, albeit the same story for all of Athens. The nearby park is has many homeless so you do hear a few shouts in the early evening. The rooftop garden is a joke. The walk to Omina Metro is a bit scary at night, it is better to have early starts and get back early in the evening, Be careful to remember which of the 8 roads that kind of join at the square at Omnia is the correct one as they look different at night. You WILL get confused.

Location is a bit dodgy, but the value of the hotel is great. It was not easy to find the hotel from the station, Omnia because we didn't have google map. As soon as we arrived the hotel, they welcomed us and gave us nice orange juice. Our room was very spacious and cozy. You usually cannot get such nice quality of the hotel at the price. The staff also helped us ordering food at the reception when we were tired. Very kind and great value.

My family and I stayed at this quaint little hotel while staying in Athens the summer of 2015. While not luxurious, the rooms are comfortable and the service is very good. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in pointing out the best places to see in Athens and we're always quick to find us a cab to get there. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the National Archaeological Museum. Ti is also inexpensive and has a great breakfast buffet which is included in the price!

Athens is a great city I keep coming back to, and this hotel is always the first one I check availability of. Good location- close to the museum and lots of small bars and restaurants near by, just a few minutes walk from Omonia metro station and not more than 30 mins walk from all the major tourist destinations in this city. Hotel stuff was more than helpful and the rooms were nice and clean... only thing missing was the parking lot, but free parking can be found in the surrounding streets and you won't be needing a car getting around the city anyhow.

I was doing some research into a potential downtown water treatment project and could have stayed anywhere in the area but since I love museums, I chose this location. Despite the fact that public transportation was not operating due to the strike on Thursday, the location was centrally located so that I managed to salvage my business day by walking. I managed to get an excellent hour visit to the Archaeological Museum before leaving on Friday and considered this a successful initial visit to Athens.

06/02/2016

I was booked in to Best Western Museum Hotel by Travel Zone who so efficiently and competently arranged my whole visit to Greece. I was extremely I impressed by each and every person I dealt with in Greece, all were all friendly and helpful. The staff of the hotel, from the reception to the kitchen staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. My accomodation was beautifully clean and prepared. The breakfasts served daily were excellent, fresh and ready every morning. A variety to suit each palate was available. On my first morning in Athens, I was going on a tour of the city and an icy cold front had arrived in the city the evening before. As my luggage had been mislaid by the airline, I did not have a warm jacket/coat to wear out that day and the gentleman at the reception desk, of his own accord, offered me a coat and an umbrella to use as I was leaving the hotel, asking me to just return it when I got back later that day. I could not believe the thoughtfulness and kindness of the man, who did not even know me. This action was far and beyond the hospitality they were giving me. Excellent service!!!

We spent 3 weeks here, it is very affordable. The staff are extremely helpful and nice. Shower is small, and the bed isn't very comfortable. Balcony has a lovely view. Laundry is not on sight, they send out your clothes. I wanted to find a hotel in the center of Athens that was safe from the immigrants that have flooded the city. During my search I found this hotel. I know the Best Western name so that made me comfortable. The price, gave me doubts. The reason is it was VERY CHEAP! I decided to check it out and am glad I did! The hotel is comfortable, great location, safe, rooftop view of the Acropolis, and an amazing price! I will stay here again and can't recommend it enough for individuals, couples or families.

07/01/2016

I spent my first time in Greece at this hotel. The hotel was nothing extraodinary as far as the looks and amenities. The breakfast was a typical European style breakfast (as an American I missed bacon, waffles and sausages...sighs) anyway I only really ate bread and fruit (my preference). Our room was clean and quiet, very comfortable. The location is right near the Polytechnic so we were able to walk to the metro (if you are not from a city such as NY or DC then maybe the environment will scare you). The best part about this hotel was the staff! From the moment we walked in everyone was polite and very helpful. They provided us maps and documented very detailed directions almost everyday! They also didn't try to scam us with expensive tours and whatnot they always gave us the cheapest alternatives warning us not to waste money.

"Good hotel, great value for money, friendly & helpful staff - will happily come back"

27/12/2015

I stayed at the Best Western with a group of friends at the end of November. Having read some of the TripAdvisor reviews beforehand, I was a little concerned about the area surrounding the hotel. This proved totally unnecessary. Whilst perhaps not in the most upmarket or trendy part of town, the area felt completely safe and, unlike more touristy places, it was lovely and quiet at night. We were happy to walk around and explore local restaurants and bars in the evening, of which there are plenty in easy walking distance. It's a fairly easy walk to the nearest train station, or you can just walk to most places of interest in 15-20 minutes (including the Acropolis) The hotel itself is very clean and welcoming, rooms are comfortable and adequately modern. Room prices seemed good value for money - it's mid market, neither a cheap budge place nor a luxury palace. The bathrooms are a little on the small side perhaps, but this wasn't really an issue. But what makes this hotel (the same can probably be said for the entire city, and country!) is the friendly and welcoming people. Staff were happy to help and advise wherever they could - a quality of service that I would normally expect from a smaller independent hotel, rather than a large chain outlet. This includes the guys at reception, the barman, even the cleaner. Greek people are exceptionally friendly and a lot of people seem genuinely happy to see tourists returning to Athens. Thumbs up, I'll happily come and stay again!

I recently had opportunity to stay at this Hotel for a few days in November. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. It was a great breakfast that was a cross section between what I was used to in North America and the Greek palette. Because I was on a work trip and didn't have an office, there was a room available just off the main lobby that our team used to get work done. This hotel is centrally located within walking distance of the city centre, eating establishments, historic sites and transit. All in all, it was a great place to stay. There is also a great view of the Parthenon from the roof.

Clean, friendly helpful staff. Basic but adequate modern facilities. Useful location. Walkable and Metro distance for exploring Athens. All new to me. Quite a discovery. Much better on the inside that the outside appearance might suggest.

I already knew the quality of the best western hotels, and this hotel brings the same expected clean, nice, simple quality you wish for. Nice staff, clean, smaller room, good AC unit. Nothing to complain about, really. Location was a bit far from the metro, but you just need to walk about 5-10 minutes to reach it.

"Very good hotel in Athens conveniently located for tourists"

I stayed here with my family for a day in November 2015 and overall had a very good experience. The room was very clean and comfortable, big enough for the three of us. In general the hotel was clean and had a very good ambience. The staff were extremely friendly and even gave us an extended check out in spite of being full! It is just behind the Archaeological Museum and a short walk from Omonia metro station so getting around the city should not be a problem. On the down side the road leading to the hotel behind the museum is very lonely and dingy at night but even this wasn't a problem, even the stray dogs out there don't bother you. But you can walk around the front of the museum through a busy road and reach the hotel. All in all a great experience and would recommend this hotel to travelers!

"Hotel review, with panoramic images of Athens"

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, en route to the Greek island of Agistri. The hotel is fairly centrally located, about a 10 minute walk from Omonia Metro station, and very close to Athens museum. It is a 'practical' hotel, located in a side street, but fine if all you require is reasonable accommodation. It has free wifi and internet access - which proved very useful to us after my wallet was stolen on the Athens Metro! The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. East access to most Athens tourist locations.

"Convenient location near great outdoor eateries."

We stayed here twice at each end of a holiday in the Greek Islands. The hotel is in a convenient location in a one-way street near the Archeological Museum and just around the corner from the central square of the Exarchia district where there are plenty of great inexpensive restaurants. It was a 20 minute walk from the airport bus terminus at Syntagma Square and a 40 minute walk to The Acropolos. Rooms are a little tired but comfortable. On the second stay we were upgraded to a suite on the 7th floor with a glimpse of The Acropolis from the balcony. The substantial breakfast was excellent value.

Great views from the rooftop in the evenings. Delicious buffet breakfasts. Free OJ and ice water. Wi-fi and computer center. Convenient location to great restaurants in Exarchia district. Super helpful staff. Right next to Archeaological Museum. Was a perfect stay for our large family of 6 - two rooms for a great price!

"Good value for money but a lingering bad odor can ruin your stay."

Single room was ok for its budget price, problem was that although it was very clean there was a very bad odor which I don't know if it was from the old shabby moquette or the bathroom. When I opened the windows it was better but there was too much noise outside to leave them open all the time. Location is very central and staff nice and helpful.

"Can't read the writing on the wall"

This cute, clean hotel is located on a short one-way street. The pedestrian walkway that takes you out to one of the main streets - Oktovriou- to catch buses or walk to the subway is littered with used syringes, and there were old men sleeping on the benches. It's too bad because it is a cute little park beside 2 museums and the Polytechnic university. There were young people, I assume students, hanging out on the street to the south, the alternate route to the main street toward the subway. After dark, I did not feel comfortable walking by myself, so took a taxi from the main square. Fortunately, cabs are not expensive. The walls and the garage-door fronts that come down after businesses close were littered with graffiti, and most of it is not art, just angry-looking scrawling. I couldn't read the writing on the walls. The service was very good and friendly. The breakfast was adequate with a selection of bread, cold cuts, cheese, cereal, hardboiled eggs, spinach and cheese pie, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt and tea, coffee, and juices. The room was adequate, with a very comfortable, though small, bed. The bathroom is small with a very small shower. You will feel the curtain on your wet back as you lather up. There was no remote control for the air conditioner, so you have to ask for it. I found the hotel setting to be too cold. The price is good and once you get out to the main street, there are nice stores out of the high-touristy shopping areas. The guide books describes the area as Edgy, so if you don't mind that, it is worth a stay. I will likely try a new spot if I'm lucky enough to get back to Athens, which is DEFINITELY worth a 2nd visit!

"Comfortable stay and good service"

I stayed here for a few days as a base to explore Athens and had a really good stay. The location is quite good, about 5-10 minutes walk to the subway and the hotel is close to many local cost-friendly restaurants and grocers. There is a street nearby close to the university that you should avoid, many syringes and people shooting up in broad daylight though (ask the hotel where to avoid). The room was very comfortable and I had a few nights of really good, uninterrupted sleep. The service was sensational, front desk reception was always willing to assist in providing directions. The free wifi was also free and very reliable with an okay speed (speed test was 17MB/1MB). I would also recommend the breakfast - plenty of options including toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, cooked breakfasts, etc). There is a bar and plenty of seating inside, as well as a business centre downstairs. Take advantage of the rooftop area as well - something I found was under utilised by many other guests - you get a good vantage point of the area as well as a good view of the Acropolis. Overall if I was to return to Athens, I would most certainly return here.

"A nice, quiet and convenient Hotel"

This is a quiet, clean, and convenient hotel in the middle of Athens. The help of the staff to locate my destinations and use public transportation was particularly appreciated. The only drawback was the substandard internet connection. The hotel has no restaurant but there are many in the immediate surroundings.

"Good value for the price."

This is a good value hotel. I chose it because of it's proximity to the hop on hop off bus stop and museum. The staff was excellent. My particular room smelled like fresh paint. There could have been much worse smells, so I did not request another room. Room came with wifi. The bed was comfortable. I would book this hotel again without hesitation.

Breakfast was €6 , continental style , good choice and variety . Area a bit scruffy , lots of grafitti ! Such a shame as it ruins the city

"Last minute find"

Went searching online for a budget hotel in Athens after finding our Airbnb inter city booked accommodation unsuitable. Caught a cab for €7 to this hotel. A little out of the way but no problems with us as we like to walk. The room was clean the bathroom tiny and made up daily. Restaurants are few so if you are staying for some time suggest something closer in. We were in Athens for three days. The area looks dodgy with graffiti everywhere but we had no problems at night whatsoever. Staff on the front desk were very helpful. The National Archeological Museum which is only 5 mins walk away is a must visit.
