I stayed at Amazon for 6 days. The location is excellent, between Syntagma and Plaka stairs, only 5 mins walk to both place. The room is small but has all necessary amenities. Only one drawback for me is noisy from the street in early morning during my entire stay. Othewise it is very value hotel.
We decided to stay at this hotel, as it was conveniently located within the pickup area for the tours we were taking part in whilst we were in Athens. Overall , this hotel is conveniently located closely to few of the attractions of Athens (Syntagma Square, Acropolis, mount lycabettus). We arrived at this hotel after a 4 night cruise; as such we were at the hotel by 8am way before check in time. To the credit of the hotel staff, they ensured we had the room within an hour of arrival. Whilst the room are small in size, they are neat and tidy and appear as if the hotel rooms were recently renovated. Whilst the hotel offers a variety of breakfast options, one will be spoilt for choice as to what to have for lunch and dinner as the hotel is walking distance to some great eateries.
This hotel is located close to restaurants, shops and buses. The room was small however was comfortable with good bed linen, towels and other facilities. Breakfast was fresh and there was plenty to choose from. WIFI is included too. I would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel with a brilliant location. We booked our transfers from the airport through the hotel and we got the nicest driver called Iias who gave us so much information about the city, recommended restaurants and bars and we got to book our Acropolis Skip the Line Tickets through him too which was really handy. Check in was quick and the girl on reception was very nice and welcoming. Our room was on the 6th floor. We had a safe and a fridge in the room plus plenty of storage space and the bed was pretty comfortable. Breakfast was decent, wide range of choices including pastries, cereals, meats, salads, teas, juices and some hot options. All the tourist attractions are withing walking distance and there are some really good restaurants nearby.
We stay here for 5 days it was great and nice room and clean with beautiful breakfast with nice view i recommend it for very one hope to stay here next time we come to Athens thank you very much for the great time
We stayed at the best western amazon for 3 nights. The room was small but had everything we needed. The hotel.is very well located, at a walking distance from the acropole, plaka, etc. The staff is very nice and helpful. They gave us a breakfast to go on the last day since we had to get to the port early and even gave us a wake-up call that we didn.t ask. Only thing negative : the shower is really really small.
This hotel is in a great location! The staff is super friendly & the breakfast was a nice surprise as there were ample choices. Our room was a tiny thing, but it didn't really matter because it was clean and we didn't stay in it much. As an added bonus, we had a view of the Parthenon from our window.
Small, but very clean and very comfortable hotel with an excellent customer service! We were there just to catch up a few hours of sleep before our plane departure 6 am next day. The front desk person was kind to research for us and provide us with different options to get to the airport early morning. They packed our breakfast to go as we were leaving before restaurant open! Bravo! Excellent location. The hotel is just a few steps away from Syntagma Square, bus stops to the airport, lots of restaurant and of course, all historical attraction. Price was right too! We thank you so much the person at the front desk that worked on the April 15-th evening! Thank you! Would stay again and recommend place to friends.
Good ,clean hotel at very convinient place .Very gentle stuff. The breakfast is not very rich but very good.Easily you can tour round the centre of athens or Plaka on foot. You also ,can easily catch the bus for touring Athens.Metro station can drive you almos all over Attica
Stayed here for one night, i paid $165 Australian dollars for the night which i thought was very reasonable. This hotel is more like a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very large, extremely clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was perfect and the shower head was great. They had powerpoints on either side of the bed which i have found rare in Greece. They also had a kettle and tea, and also complimentary water. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We couldn't have breakfast as we were departing early in the morning and they arranged a breakfast box for each of us, which was great! The location is perfect and walking distance to everything including two supermarkets. I stayed at the Electra Hotel on this trip which is 4 star and paid alot more, but I'd definitely prefer to stay at the Amazon hotel, its much more modern, cheaper in price, rooms are larger, and front desk staff are friendlier.
The room is clean and new with a nice bathroom. Breakfast is good and it opens early til 10:30 everyday. The bed is firm and the noise is minimal from the street outside. Staff is professional and friendly helping when asked.
The hotel and roomd were modern, comfortable and spotless clean. Breakfast was very satisfactory, with a big variety of pastries, cold cuts and warm dishes such as eggs and bacon etc. The hotel staff was very polite and professional. The hotel is situated right in the heart of Athens center with easy access to Syntagma Square, Ermou shopping street, Monastyraki, Plaka etc. The nearest metro stations are within 5 walking distance, either Syntagma station or Monastyraki station. There are many coffee shops & restaurants nearby. There are no black-out curtains, so for guests that would like to have full darkness in order to sleep it is not possible. Of course problem can be solved with a sleeping mask!
It's best location to all attractions. The hotel is very clean and modern everywhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Higher quality breakfast! I'll definitely stay there again and highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was great for the price we paid. It's right in the center of the city. In walk-able distance to the acropolis and other big tourist sites. The breakfast was great! The reason why I give it 3/5 stars is the space. The wash closets are extremely small. You can barely move around in the shower. Also, the lack of a pool. The front desk was helpful, but could have been more knowledgeable.
Great location. The room itself was very nice and clean, but was small. It is Athens, so it is probably normal. It appears to be an older building that was totally renovated. Very quiet at night. Great breakfast each morning.
Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend and we were both extremely satisfied! We had limited time to sightsee and were very happy with this centrally located hotel. Great location just off Syntagma Square and the Plaka area. We didn't use public transport at all and were able to walk to all the key sights. About 15-20 mins walk to Acropolis and Ancient Agora in different directions. The key shopping areas (Plaka, Ermou Street, Monatiraki Square) are just behind and also about 10-15 mins walk away. National Gardens and the Parliament Building to see the changing of the guard is 5 mins away. Hadrian's Arch and Temple of Zeus are a little further away but still within walking distance. Other things I really liked: - room was very spacious & beds / pillows were comfortable - wifi worked very well throughout - room had in-room coffee/tea making facilities - breakfast was very good, looks simple but the spread is good and hits all the right notes - location felt safe even for 2 females alone at night - lots of restaurants / convenience shops / cafes nearby - good value for money (especially if sharing the cost between 2 people) The only thing I'd highlight to note is that there are no rooms with a view of the Acropolis (which is quite beautiful to look out upon in the day and night). We didn't mind this since we mostly spent our days exploring outside the hotel but its a point to note/consider for those who would prefer a room with a view. Overall, I had a great stay and will be bookmarking this hotel for future trips to Athens. I would highly recommend this hotel due to the central location, comfortable rooms and reasonable pricing. Thank you for a great stay!
The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to anything in town. I think it took us about 15 minutes to walk to the Parthenon south entrance, not in a rush. The room we stayed in (204) was very small, two twin beds and room for a night table in between them. The bathroom was exceptionally small- particularly the shower. It isn't even big enough to bend over to clean/shave your legs in. The thermostat wouldn't go below 18 and the air mostly stayed in the doorway so we were hot at night. The breakfast was good, nothing exceptional. Overall, if you are looking for a clean place fairly close to everything and not too expensive, it's a good place for you. We took the bus x95 from the airport for 6 EURO each which took us a couple blocks from the hotel (city center- syntagma square). The walk wouldn't have been bad, but it was pouring down rain and the sidewalks aren't made for suitcases. If you are looking for somewhere to eat near by, I would recommend Smiles, it's right across the street and down a couple shops. Their meat platter for 2 is amazing and can feed 4 easily. The best pork gyro meat and kabobs we have had this trip. Reasonably priced at 30 Euro for the meat platter, two Greek salads, two glasses of wine, and two small desserts. If you grab a map from them, there is a couple for 10% off the meal for 2.
We stayed here for 2 days. The hotel is at walking distance to all the prominent locations. Easy to notice by taxi and even has a metro station and bus station nearby. The staff is friendly and we even got an upgrade. The hotel is clean and quiet.
I was at BW Amazon for four nights. The location of the hotel is perfect: it's close to Synatgma Square (metro + bus to/from airport + unknown soldier monument & Greek parliament), and it's also close to the Acropolis, to Monastiraki, to Plaka. I could walk from the hotel to all of these areas, and the walks were enjoyable. The room at Amazon was very good, but smallish. The bathroom was very small, especially the shower - it was hard to move inside it without brushing the walls. Everything was very clean, and breakfast was very good, with a lot of choices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi was free, but it was very, very slow.
This is a really good hotel in a wonderful position, within walking distance of most attractions. The hotel itself is well appointed and the friendly, helpful staff enhance the whole experience. If you are looking for a hotel with liveried doormen, then this is not i,t but if you want a good quality family style hotel for leisure or business, then this is perfect.
Modern, well-maintained accommodations with easy access to the Metro (and airport transfers @ Syntagma Square), Plaka, Monastiraki Square, and the Acropolis, all at 5-10min. walking distance. We stayed here for about $100/night, taxes inclusive, for which I thought it was a great value. There are more upscale and budget-friendly options in the area, too, but this is a nice balance of value for what you get. There is a safe provided in the room, too, which we appreciated. Our only complaint was the wi-fi, which was painfully slow for even basic web browsing.
Great central location near Acropolis and other attractions. Easy 10 minute walk to Acropolis an museum. Rooms are a little on the small side, but clean and comfortable. Safe and refrigerator in room and at no extra charge. I needed to print some tour vouchers and was able to use their computer in the lower area. Thanks to Christos and Magda at the front desk for their help and recommendations. Free WiFi with good coverage of hotel and outside.
This Best Western hotel is located in the heart of Athens. It could not of been a better place nice clean modern.Great staff friendly helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was delicious and dinning room beautiful. Everything was close by and walkable the Metro restaurants grocery store all within three blocks.
We came back from the Greek islands and decided to have a quick stop at Athens before the next day departure home. This hotel is about a 10 mins walk from the bus station. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants which was nice. Room size was ok and simple. We booked for three people and their triple room has two single beds with a sofa that could turn into a bed. The housekeeping staff had to rush to put everything together after we checked in and we wondered how two beds can be a suite for three people.
The Best Western Amazon was ideally situated and priced for our 4 nights in Athens. It was in walking distance of all ancient sites providing you are reasonably fit and enjoy walking around the streets soaking up the atmosphere. It was also close to buses and subway . The hotel staff were friendly and room comfortable with a safe and fridge. Breakfast was included and was very good with a varied selection of hot and cold options, continental / english and choice of drinks. There wasn't a bar but there were plenty of restaurants and pubs in close proximity. A lovely stay.
We stayed for 4 nights, it was a very pleasant experience. Rooms were clean and minimal, which is preferred for us. We arrived late the first night and the only room available was with two single beds (totally fine), but the hotel staff were happy to switch us to a room the next day with one double bed. The hotel staff were very helpful with making restraunt reservations for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!
We are just back from Athens. I looked at several BW hotels before selecting this one for its location. The rooms were clean, housekeeping friendly and staff efficient. There was a range of options for breakfast both cooked and 'continental'. This hotel is centrally located, five minutes from Syntagma Square and a ten/fifteen minute walk from Monastiraki Square metro. It is about 20 minutes from the Acropolis and you can walk everywhere you wish to sightsee or access the sightseeing bus tours and trams from Syntagma Square.
In Athens this Hotel is located in the centre. Syntagma Square where all the Life,Restaurants,Shopping,Metro Connection, Parliament Building. I stayed 2 nights at Best Western Amazon with reasonable price. I must say the Rooms are bigger than expected with Wooden Floors. If I go to Athens again I will stay at this Hotel because of Price and Location.
It was clean and right on par with a best western. Bathrooms were a little small but overall it was a great space and I would recommend it! Centrally located, honestly we couldn't ask for a better location, walked everywhere. Everyone who worked here was great and it was a good experience. Would recommend to anyone. Traveled end of May 2016 with 2 female friends. Ages 21-45.
I stayed with my wife at “Best Western Amazon Hotel” for 2 nights in August 2017. The hotel was well situated in the center of Athens, a 5 mins walk from Syntagma square and 10 mins to Monastiraki metro. Before I booked, I had seen some reviews where people on the lower floors were complaining about the old rooms at the hotel & unhappy about the noise from the street .But I have to thank all friends from trip advisors who recommended to ask the hotel management to book for us one of the recently renovated rooms at higher floor, so we were lucky enough to get what we asked for & we ended up at a room on the 5th floor (Room 502) & had no problems with noise taking into consideration that we arrived the hotel from the airport @6am early at the morning (40 minutes by local bus) but the front desk lady was friendly enough & proposed us to have our breakfast till we receive our room @8am. 1) Breakfast: The breakfast was typical continental; croissants, fruit, yoghurts, coffee, fruit juice etc. The breakfast was enough to keep us going through a day of sightseeing and then we had a late lunch by (around 3-4 pm). Tea and coffee facilities are supplied in the rooms & if you ask at the front desk they will bring a tray with the necessary items to your room. 2) Location: The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the city, near to Syntagma , Monastiraki Squares & Plaka. Unbeatable proximity to all the great places we wanted to see in Athens. The hotel is within walking distance. a 15-20 minute to The Acropolis/Acropolis Museum & all sightseeing such as Roman Agora, Greek Agora, Hadrian Library & Temple of Olympian Zeus. Before sunset, you would enjoy walking at Pandrossou & Adrianou streets. At night, you would enjoy walking at Mitropoleos & Psirri steerts It is so easy to find your way to all of these places as you feel that you have been here before and belong here in Athens. If you are looking for a great place to stay that is reasonable and centrally located, this is the place for you. I would definitely go back and would feel comfortable recommending this hotel to friends and family.
I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend for a 7-day Athens trip. It was great! Centrally located (walk to the Acropolis in ~15 minutes, Syntagma sqaure in ~5, etc.) and lots of restaurant options in the immediate area. Getting to the hotel from the airport was a breeze; just take the metro and get off at Syntagma square, head straight out towards Ermou, and then over one street to the hotel. We were glad we didn't spend the money to take a cab. The breakfast is perfect, and the staff really hustles to make sure everything is full. The breakfast was enough to keep us going through a day of sightseeing and then we had an early-ish dinner (around 5-6pm). There's a beautiful old church that is right across the street and you can watch the comings and goings while you have your breakfast. The only downside was the size of the shower... my boyfriend (6', 210 lbs) had a difficult time navigating the shower with ease. However, if you have traveled at all in Europe this is pretty common for bathrooms. The room is also a little on the small side, again, very similar to other places in Europe. Room was extremely well maintained and housekeeping was prompt and thorough. If you are looking for a great place to stay that is reasonable and centrally located, this is the place for you. I would definitely go back and would feel comfortable recommending to friends and family.
The hotel does not reply to emails or faxes - I sent at least 5 messages between September and November and the hotel didn't respond to any of them. A request for a room with a bath was ignored. Upon request for a room with Acropolis view, the receptionist said that the hotel doesn't have this kind of rooms. But they're selling this king of rooms! Also they don't honor Diamond status in Best Western Rewards program - I've received nothing. Also receptionists rarely smiles, they're very sad. The rooms are very small and poorly equipped. The rooms are not modern. Besides, the rooms are dark - they have only one small window in the corner of the room and it's with view to other building. Privacy in the room does not exist, because the bathroom door can't be lock - it's sliding like in wardrobe. Our group rented three "Standard Room" rooms (103, 307, 407) - all were different, but each one was weak and poor. In one of the rooms the sink was next to the bed and there wasn't in the bathroom - madness, crazy! The beds were comfortable, towels and toiletries bearable. The breakfast was quite fine but there was no choice for vegans and very limited for vegetarians. It's a hostel or a 1* hotel. Definitely doesn't deserve for 3* and doesn't meet the requirements of Best Western.
Upon our Arrival, we were well welcomed by the receptionist she was very friendly and helpful. All the hotel personnel were great, they really know the true value of customer service, special mention to Mrs Kounadi. Our room was well equipped and comfortable, with perfect view. The hotel is situated in a great location which is easily accessible to the shopping center and public transport. We were very pleased with our stay, hope to visit the hotel in the future. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Hotel is nice and price is very nice. Staff is very friendly and useful . Hotel and my room were extremely clean. I've got a room on the 6th floor near elevator.... During each stop of elevator it was loud bumping sound of lift mechanisms.... very noisy. Couldn't sleep well. One night couldn't turn off AC and had to remove a room card to stop it. Location is perfect. Breakfast is simple but enough for morning. This hotel is very good for short stay.
we have visited this hotel for the first time, it was very good, clean spacious rooms, friendly stuff and the most important very good location. we were pleased with the accommodation , also breakfast was good better than expected , definitely we will visit again during our next trip to Athens.
Great Location, rooms clean, comfortable, friendly people. Good breakfast, Bathroom a good size and clean, price of the room was ok. Near the city centre shopping, sightseeing, restaurants & bars nearby· Near public transit & the airport· Easily accessible by car.
The hotel has a great location, an easy walk to most of the attractions. There are also literally hundreds of bars and restaurants within a few minutes stroll as well. Our room was on the street side, and despite it being winter time, there was considerable noise from the bars and restaurants opposite till 1am. Street cleaning and rubbish collection seemed to start again at 5am. The room was fairly basic but kept clean. The breakfast buffet was OK, but choice was limited and somewhat boring. The staff were friendly enough.
Great location, easy to find, rooms clean, comfortable but a bit clinical. Bathroom a good size, Good breakfast, quality coffee and friendly staff, we would use this hotel again, very nice relaxing foyer.
We chose this hotel for our five night stay because of the location reviews on trip advisor. Indeed it was close to all the attractions. Easy to get to by subway from the airport. A great included breakfast to start the day and a wonderful view of the Parthenon! The shower was a bit small but it did its job and the bed was comfy!
The hotel is located in close proximity to Sytagma Square, Ermou Street (the Shopping and Pedestrian Street) and the Hellenic Parliament. I have given an average rating to this hotel as I believe that first impressions are ordinarily lasting impressions. I was incredibly disappointed with the check in process, the female receptionist (evening) really needs to undertake extensive training in customer service as her conduct left a lot to be desired. Despite requesting a non-smoking room, I was given a smoking room. I returned to the receptionist and requested a change of room, instead of dealing with my request she decided to deal with the guests who arrived after I was explaining to her what the issue was in relation to the originally assigned room. I was utterly perplexed by this as you normally deal with the guests in accordance with their position in the queue i.e. first come first serve. I queried this, she mumbled something and then continued with checking in the other guests. When she did eventually get round to me, I was assigned another room, this one being non-smoking but not quiet (another one of my preferences). In the end, I just simply gave up as I was too tired and I had definitely lost the will to lively then to even consider returning to the reception once again. I decided not to change the room after all as I spent so little time in the room and it was positioned strategically for the breakfast room - please note that the breakfast room is rather small and can get congested at times particularly after 08:45 on weekdays. After a not so promising start, things began to look up. The breakfast was good (I appreciated the combination of hot and cold foods as well as the local delicacies) and it helped that the day receptionists were in complete contrast to the receptionist I encountered the evening before - affable, willing to help and amenable to any requests that I made namely having an ironing board and a coffee machine in my room. I now see why the hotel does not readily have a coffee machine in the room as there are not any suitable sockets to position it on a more permanent basis. I found no bed bugs at all and the shower was reasonably good. Tips: I brought the 3 day visitor's pass and it certainly was well worth the price particularly as I opted to take the metro to and from the airport. I had a bit of a mishap with using one of the ticket machines at the airport. Essentially I put in a 20 euro note and two 1 euro coins in the machine to pay for the aforesaid pass and the ticket was not issued. I cancelled as a result the transaction and I only got back the two 1 euro coins. I contacted the help desk at the station and after a 24 hour wait I got my 20 euro note back (thanks very much to the staff at both the airport and Sytagma stations for their assistance in retrieving my lost money); If you have the time, please go up Lycabettus Hill where you will be able to take fantastic photographs of the Acropolis; and Whilst I was returning from the Acropolis and I was in close proximity to Monastiraki metro station, I was approached by a man who told me that there was going to be a free concert in the area later that afternoon. He wanted to place a wrist band on me after asking me questions about where I was from. I declined his offer as for me if you having a free concert in a public square, why would you need to give me a pink wrist band? I presume it was a marker for others to pick pocket or rob me. Athens is certainly safe ( I have visited many cities in the world and I am from London so I know what I am talking about) but please just have your wits about you at all times.
I stayed here with a colleague. There are many good things about the hotel that definitely made the stay enjoyable. First, the location can't be beat. Within walking distance of two major train stations meant we could take the metro from the airport to the station and walk to the hotel, so we didn't need to take a cab anywhere in the four days in Athens. Between the trains and walking, getting around was a snap. The employees were helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a nice room. We needed two individual beds but the room had them together as a double. The lady at reception kindly moved us to another room and the housekeeping lady came right away to change the linens in that room to fit two twin beds. The room was modern, clean, and large by European standards. The breakfast was tasty, filling, and varied. Hot foods, cold foods, cereals, fresh fruit, breads, and eggs and meat. The coffee machine didn't offer café au lait, a strange omission from a European breakfast. You can get hot milk, but be careful because the machine fills an entire cup and you cannot control the amount you get. There were a few negatives, however, that made the stay a bit uncomfortable. Like some hotel rooms in Europe, the lights go on only when the key is inserted in a device near the door. Unfortunately, when we wanted to go to sleep and removed the key to turn off the ceiling lights, it also turned off the outlets in the room. This meant that our cell phones did not charge overnight while we slept. This was a HUGE problem the first morning we discovered our electronics were still nearly dead. We tried all the switches in the room, but there was NO switch to turn off the ceiling lights that would allow us to charge our phones while we slept. The outlet on the side of one bed made sparks and electrical noises when I charged my iPhone. We were worried about the safety of the outlets because of the sparks and zapping sounds. If you're a member of the Best Western rewards club, you will not get ANY points for staying here unless you make your reservation with their company or through the hotel itself. We did not know this when we reserved the room and were very shocked to discover that we would not get points for the 4-night stay because the reservation was made online through another online company (TripAdvisor, Hotels,Travelocity, etc.) Would we stay here again? Probably, but we'd insist on a room where we could charge our phones while we slept and where the outlets didn't make dangerous electrical noises and sparks.
Me and my daughter checked in the best western hotel Amazon in Athens, Greece on November 21, 2017. That night we came back late, and had shower, next day in the morning, when we got in bathroom, we found lots of bugs on the floor, especially underneath of bath tub towel, my daughter was bitten by those bugs. When I checked out that morning November 22, 2017, I reported bugs in front desk, she said let house keeper to clean it. On December 4, I called best western customer service, they said they will contact the Amazon hotel. Today December 9, in the morning 6am, best western called me saying the Amazon hotel did not record of it. Then case dropped, even I said I have many pictures to show, they don' t care.
From the moment you enter the hotel there is warm welcome from the reception.Breakfast is decent with what you pay you get. The room was been cleaned everyday and in general the staff is polite. The location also is near to the Metro Station. All in all value for money hotel!
Very well located in the heart of Athens.Very clean and the rooms are superb.Clean and modern.Very helpful staff allways with a smile. There is not any bar or restaurant but a lot of them just outside.I will go there again.
Room reasonable size, clean with fridge & safe. Room didn't have view of Acropolis but out our window could see a tiny church which was active early in the morning. Central to sight seeing, shopping & places to eat. Front desk staff friendly & helpful. Stayed 3 nights, Good location for short stay. Would stay there again.
I think we paid about $130 a night and it was well worth it. The hotel had recently been remodeled and was very nice. The rooms were clean, the food was very good and the service was everything you could ask for.
The location is great - a couple of minutes from Syntagma square where you can find the metro station. Also 15min walk to the Acropolis and Plaka neighborhood. Rooms are clean, service is good. Wifi was not that good. Breakfast was very boring and actually not tasty at all. I would expect it to be better.
I stayed with my friend for a week at Best Western - Amazon Hotel. It's a great Hotel with great location... 4 minutes walking from Syntagma square (where the Metro station is, and also you can take Metro Line 3 directly from the Airport to Syntagma... it cost 10 euros, better than paying 40 euros for a Taxi). It's also a walking distance from Monastiraki square (6 minutes)... All the things to do & see in Athens are walking distance from this hotel. The Front Desk team was great, very welcoming & helpful; the rooms are clean, not very spacious but you have all what you need in there... The cleaning ladies are very nice & they pass by in the afternoon to check if we need anything... The breakfast was nice, the usual... Everything was perfect & we had a great stay there.
This hotel is in a great location to explore Athens. Unfortunately we only had two nights here. The room was fine, clean, bed was good, usual amenities. Breakfast had a good selection and the staff were friendly. There are many cafes within easy walking distance and very good shopping close by -never seen so many shoe shops- my friend was in seventh heaven!
I was hesitant to stay after some of the bad reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The location of the hotel is great. We walked everywhere from Syntagma Square to the top of the Acropolis from here. You can see many of the sights in less than 15 minutes walk. The room was spacious and we had a basic room. The bathroom had great water pressure with lots of hot water. There were even bathrobes, slippers, a fridge and a safe. Definitely for the price I would say it was well worth it. The breakfast also was not too bad and the woman working there was constantly refilling everything even at 10:00AM when the buffet closes at 10:30AM. I would definitely recommend for the central location and value.
The location is great, good restaurants, cafes and attractions nearby. Staff friendly, rooms very clean with good linen and great beds. Very quiet rooms with quiet aircon. Lovely breakfast room, good breakfast. No complaints.
I chose it because of the location close to Syntagma Square, subway and Plaka. We were given an upgrade and sent to the penthouse on the 7th floor. We had a suite with terrace and view to the Acropolis and Athens. It was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast is very complete. Wifi is strong. The hotel is not new, but it has had refurbishments. I would improve the quality and perfume of the toiletries which are not in accordance to the characteristics of the bathroom.
At reception on our first morning Me: "the fire alarm went off three times over ten minutes in the middle of the night." He: "fixed." Me: "there was no hot water this morning." He:"fixed." Me:"the wifi is not working." He:"fixed." And that was it! The hotel is clean and comfortable, the location is fine and the breakfast staff are delightful. Our room was ok, but our friends' was very no-frills, with a three feet high "wardrobe" and no drawers.
Centrally located easy access to Metro system. Pleasant helpful staff clean comfortable accommodation . Good breakfast . We found the hotel ideal for our needs and reasonably priced for a capital City.
This was a well situated Hotel in the Plaka district, within walking distance of the local markets, Syntagma Square and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Check in was very easy and they were very helpful in orienteering us to our surroundings. The hotel was clean with good beds. The breakfast buffet was very good. We took the 2 day Hop On Hop Off package that we picked up right at Syntagma Square, it was well worth the price and we would recommend it, The Acropolis and the Archaeological Museum are on the route and both worth seeing. Lots of good restaurants close by and we particularly liked Grecos and Villers (rooftop) but there are lots to chose from.
The hotel is near Syntagma metro station and Plaka and other popular parts of the city. It is also about 15 minutes walk to the Acropolis. Rooms are modern and functional. You can order tea and coffee making facilities for your room at no extra charge. A good breakfast with some cooked as well as usual cheese and ham. No too noisy considering location.
Good, clean, efficient hotel. Good breakfast buffet, hot plentiful water and very comfortable. Helpful staff on reception. Excellent location, easy to walk to all the happening places. I took a short walk to Cine Paris which is a great experience. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 is because like all hotels of its type once inside you could be anywhere. However maybe that's unfair because I went there because I knew what I'd get and I just wanted to get my head down in comfy surroundings. My only point is that the air conditioning could not keep the room temp at a low enough level.
Arrived hot and bothered to be greeted by sour faced receptionist who when I went to retrieve my booking form barked" I don't need any form I just want to know your name!" Said receptionist retrieved my booking details and I was shown to room which had to be the smallest ever encountered on my many travels. It had one narrow window which had a vista of adjoining rooms sewage pipes. Asked if other rooms were available but were told "hotel full" Another first for me was there was no washbasin in the toilet / shower, instead it was situated outside near narrow window. No tea or coffee making facilities and no iron. You had to request these items if needed. Breakfast was taken on second floor and was just average .Continental and cooked was available. No fresh orange juice just cheap squash. The service however from the ladies there, particularly Erina was good, always had a smile and a cheery good morning. The best thing about this place was the location which was good being central or near the monuments, shops, tourist restaurants and markets. Taxis are in abundance however it is quite a noisy area. When we vacated we passed reception and glanced up to see the same receptionist staring at us as tight lipped as we left. Wifey was determined to get something out of her so she said "goodbye then" in a more than loud voice to which startled receptionist said "oh goodbye!" This is a budget hotel charging mid range rates All in all for E120+ per night I don't consider this hotel good value. There is better around. I wont be back!
Hotel is good. Nothing amazing but the rooms are clean and fresh. The rooms are a little small but the hotel is in a great location which makes it worthwhile- walking distance to the plaka and acropolis. The hotel staff were all very friendly.
A nice hotel, recently renovated. Small rooms but clean and efficient. Beds are a bit soft for my personal taste but comfortable. Great shower. Curteous personel. If you want any kind of view, stay away from room 208! While we were there 23-25-08, renovations were being done in the adjacent building and hammers and drills started pounding around 7:30 am, even on a Saturday. That was quite annoying. But still a nice hotel if only because of it's location near all the shops and restaurants.
I choose this hotel due to Tripadvisor and other websites with ratings. This hotel is very well located and within easy walking distance of all the attractions. We walked everywhere and the streets where clean and people friendly - we felt very safe. The hotel staff we excellent.
I stayed here for one night when passing through athens to the islands and have no complaints. The location is excellent, rooms were clean and comfortable. The room didnt like the pictures (very modern pictures on hotel booking website) but for the price and location i was still very happy. Out of the handful of hotels ive stayed at in athens it was probably the better one when comparing price, location and general state of the hotel. Would definitely consider staying there again.
Location of the hotel is great, close to everything within an easy walking distance. You can walk to the Plaka, to the Acropolis and to Syntagma Square very easily. The double room was a little bit crowded but the triple room was very spacious and convenient.
We flew late in the night from Santorini and were picked up from the airport by the Taxi pickup we had arranged. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the city. Though we checked in past midnight, we were greeted by the staff on duty. Our room was fairly large, comfortable and stocked with most essentials. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with amenities. Breakfast was included with the room and had several items to select from. The hotel is ideally located and about a 15-20 minute to the Acropolis. There are plenty of decent restaurants around for to pick from. We will highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Athens.
Rooms comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine. WiFi worked well. Excellent location, so much within walking distance. And thank goodness for the air conditioning at the end of a long hot day! Perfect for what we needed.
We had a fantastic experience at the Best Western Amazon hotel last week. Our room was spacious and quiet. We noticed that some other rooms were somewhat small. There was construction going on nearby but our room did not face the construction and was quiet. The location was excellent.
The room is small, but big enough. It is very clean and the bathroom is superb. the staff is extremley friendly ( like all the greek people) and the location perfect. You can walk everywhere. the breakfast buffet serves anything you need. Next time in Athens we will stay there again !
This is a nice limited service hotel. Good location near tourist spots. It was clean and comfortable. The service was very pleasant. The beds were soft. Both the AC and WiFi worked well. It fully met our expectations when we booked and was better than most similar hotels we have stayed at in Europe.
Staff was very welcoming and friendly, location is the best, near to everything, the breakfast was regular and enough. If you come from the Airport, you can save money if you will take the X95 bus for 6€ and walk 200 meter to the hotel.
Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming but that's where it ends ... rooms are very basic and small, bathroom is basic and cramped! Booked only because other hotels in area were booked out and unfortunately was disappointed!
This hotel could not have been in a more perfect location - close to a main train stop and walking distance to attractions and shopping! Sadly this and the breakfast were the only good attributes of this hotel. Our room was very small and cramped, the curtains didn't cover the window properly and the room had no soundproofing which made for a very disturbed sleep
Great location, great staff but the rooms are very small for the price you pay. The photos are very deceiving regarding the size of the rooms. The hotel is near great restaurants, the shopping area and some must see attractions(acropolis). The staff is very helpful with transfers to the port and airport. The breakfast hours are also a bit longer allowing you to sleep in.
We stayed 2 days at hotel. Wiew was nice from acropolis. Hotel was at center it was good visit all city. Hotel room was small but good enough. Breakfast is good. Reception was good comminication eith guest. Thanks for it.
It is located just 300 metres from Syntagma Square which is very convenient if you use the metro to travel from or to the airport, or around the city. It is behind Ermou street, which is a pedestrian road ideal for shopping. The hotel is very well kept and our room was very modernly decorated. Everything looks brand new! Breakfast was OK (included in the price). I would definetely stay here again.
The location is great. Very clean room although quite small with very comfortable bed. The reception staff are very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was basic, trays were almost empty with food items and staff had to be told to refill them. One day there was a hair in the tray just under the pastries. I told the waitress and she did not even apologise on behalf of the kitchen staff.
Loved everything about this place. The location is PERFECT. Easily within walking distance to all the best sites and restaurants in the city. The rooms are modern with good air-conditioning and other amenities. The traditional European breakfast was wonderful. Overall a lovely place. Highly recommend to anyone hoping to visit Athens!
I stayed here for 2 nights in March 2017. The hotel is easy to find and is only a couple of minutes from Syntagma Square. On arrival I was allocated room 106. This is a very small double room at the front of the hotel with a small shower room, a safe and very little else. The curtains allow every bit of light into the room, the position on the first floor means that you can hear street noise all night, the cleaners cupboard is right outside the room and they are not quiet when they start work at 5.30. You are also just above the breakfast room meaning noise from there as well. After an uncomfortable night I spoke to reception who offered to move me to another room. I went out for the day and on my return found I had been allocated a far larger room on the 5th floor with views of the Parthenon. This room also has black out curtains and no noise. My second night was definitely better than the first. Breakfast at the hotel was typical continental; croissants, fruit, yoghurts, coffee, fruit juice etc. I did not notice a toaster. Tea and coffee facilities are not supplied in the rooms but if you ask at the front desk they will bring a tray with the necessary items to your room. The hotel will store your bags after check out for you to collect later. Overall the hotel is very good value for a short break in Athens. It is within walking distance of all of the main sights and has plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Just make sure to avoid room 106.
The hotel was the perfect landing spot for a three night stay in Athens. The front desk personnel was cheery and helpful, the breakfast service was more than adequate and the room was clean, although a bit small as noted by others. It was nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep water chilled. We requested an upper room with a view of Acropolis--it wasn't expansive as other tall buildings surrounded us. The only issue I had was that there was no electrical outlet to plug in my CPAP machine near the head of the bed, nor was an extension cord available when requested, so I had to forgo using the machine during our stay. The location was awesome, near many restaurants and shops, as well as transportation options, but away from the traffic noise at Syntagma Square. For the price, we were pleased with our stay.
I personally like the location and the rooms are nicely decorated. Make sure to wake and enjoy the delicious breakfast- I'm a breakfast person!! Location location ! Staff is friendly and helpful! Enjoy your stay and don't forget breakfast! ;-)
An amazing experience at this hotel. Great location close to plata and the acropolis also to transportación. The breakfast was very good every day. Room was big and well designed. Loved the LCD big screen tv and bed was excellent.
Our 1st hotel which we stay in Athens, we reached early and they do allow us to do an early check in. Believe it was empty and no one is staying in that room, thanks for that. Location of the hotel is nearby to the malls, attractions, eateries and etc. Room was good, not that small. Beds are comfy. The shower room was a bit small for me. Thats the only let down. But does not really bother me much, couse we just use it for shower only. :)
Great location, clean hotel, friendly staff. The rooms are exactly what we saw on the pictures which I was happy about. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. The area is perfect as you are close to lovely restaurants, shops and monuments. Will definitely be back.
The hotel is clean, quiet and offers a comfortable stay in a great location. Metro and bus stations are only 5-10 minutes away and hop-on hop-on bus stop is even closer. Plaka, the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum can be reached on foot in 15-20 minutes. Front desk staff are most friendly, cheerful and efficient. Breakfast is good. The staff offered us packed breakfast as we had to leave early. Although the rooms are a little small, these have all amenities like toiletries, electric kettle, mini bar and tea/ coffee. Highly recommended especially for tourists.
This hotel is perfect for a short stay and good value for money. The hotel is clean, the staff at the hotel make the stay worthwhile with always a smile and eager to help. The breakfast was wholesome and good. We stayed in the family room but the layout was open plan which made the room quite small. Public transports and tourist attractions all nearby with loads of restaurants and shops within walking distance. However this being a budget hotel does not have a restaurant or cafe onsite.
5 friends had visited Athens were staying at the BW Amazon. It was superbly located.... totally central 2 mins walk to Syntagma square... 5 mins to Plaka & 5 mins to Monastriki. It was very clean... clean sheets... clean room & clean bathroom... staff really polite & friendly. Breakfast was really very good... & the Greek Yoghurt amazing!!!! I would recommend to anyone to stay at this hotel.
Simply loved BEST WESTERN Amazon Hotel! The room and toilet were compact, but well lit, clean and well appointed. They had a coffee maker too. The location is EXCELLENT! 2 min to Syntagma Square, Plaka (historical neighborhood) and Ermou Street (high end shops). We felt safe walking about, even after 10pm. The road is well lit and has a lot of cafes and nightlife. The breakfast was also wholesome. The staff were very helpful.
Central location short walk from Syntagma metro, straight line from the airport with views of the Acropolis. For a small premium you can request a room with a view of the Acropolis. If you do you won't be disappointed. We arrived at night and were blown away by the perfect view of a floodlit Acropolis. The room was adequate as a double, clean and fresh with a comfortable double bed and plenty of storage. The room has a large picture window with 2 comfortable chairs to sit back and admire the stunning view. Tea and coffee making facilities were free on request and arrived quickly. The bathroom was adequate for the amount of time I intended to spend in there, clean and modern, it was however small, people of a larger frame would find it hard to use the toilet comfortably. The shower has a fixed half screen which means the room gets wet. Complimentary toiletries were small with one bottle of gel and one shampoo for both of us although there is an extensive list of toilitries and essentials available free from reception so have no reason to doubt that more would be available on request. The breakfast room was light and airy with a wide selection of good quality hot and cold food which was frequently replenished. Situated in the heart of the city excellent transport links but most of the main tourist attractions are within walking distance. It is difficult to know what more you would want for a city break particularly at mid budget prices.
A typical Best Western hotel, placed in the heart of Athens, two steps from Syntagma Square -the central place, where everything happens. There you have a big metro station, the hop-on-hop-off bus station and you can visit walking the whole central part. There starts the fine district of Plaka, from there you can start your climbing to Acropolis,or go to the pitoresque Monastiraki place,Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms, good breackfast.I would definitely return.Go for it !
I stayed at this hotel towards the end of March. I would say this hotel is average. The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast they provided daily. It would have been nice to see a different variety every day but it's no big deal, it was good. The rooms however, questionable. They were standard and the bathrooms were small. They didn't make our beds the first night, didn't change our towels, or clean our bathrooms. We didn't make a big deal sense we returned to our room after 10pm. We simply requested new towels and moved on. They did however, clean our room the next day. The service at the front desk was ok. The team greeted us anytime we arrived or left and check in was smooth. Overall, I wouldn't stay again but it was ok.
If you are looking for a good place to stay in Athens. Check out Best Western Amazon Hotel. Just off Syntagma Square it is in an ideal spot for exploring Plaka, Shoping at Ermou Street and of course The Acropolis and Museum. All within easy walking distance. The Hotel is tastefully decorated. Beds comfortable. Nothing was to much trouble for the excellent staff. Will defo be staying here again on our next visit to Athens.
Basic Best Western hotel, quiet and clean rooms, the breakfast was ok, and there is a friendly staff. Location in excellent, close to both sindagma and monastiraki subway stations and the plaka district where you can find lots of restaurants and bars.
Clean modern room in a great location. Breakfast was good by Athens standards. Front desk staff fine, breakfast staff great! Rooms may be small for some, it did not bother us I mention it as I need to add more characters to my review!
We ran into a lot of difficulty with the staff who promised to arrange transport to the airport and an agreed upon price. When they arrived the taxi driver said it was double the price we were told from front desk/manager. The manager & staff person who promised to have everything arranged for us at a specific price. When it came to dealing with the problem she was so intensely rude and clearly not trained in the customer service area. This was our only dishonest experience in Greece and the Islands. The rooms on our arrival were horrific but on the way back we had a much different room that was clean and modern. Ask for the decent room. Breakfast and the staff there were great too bad the front desk was terrible.
Hard to beat central Athens hotel within walking distance to the main sights of Athens - Plaka, Monastiraki, Syntagma Square. Standard 3* BW Hotel that has been refurbished and offers all you need for a comfortable Athens city trip. Good buffet breakfast choice and helpful cheerful staff.
Stayed there for one night. I selected this hotel mainly because of its location: right next to Ermou street. Nice and convenient room and friendly staff. Breakfast though could be improved. Definitelly a good option in Athens for a mid range hotel stay
The only good thing is that its very near to the Railway station and the Center with plenty of options for shopping , eating and bus or taxi.Rooms were very small and staff I feel is bit in-sufficient knowledge. On spite of making the payment by cash while checking out they charge my credit card without intimation which is not a sign of professionalism I feel. They only have view rooms as SUITS.
yes the rooms are on the small side but I have stayed in a lot smaller like the art deco area in Miami. It is a 7 min walk to the restaurants on the stairs, be sure to go right near the top for one of the best ones. They have live music and dance. Bus or train from airport is only a 5 min walk to the hotel. Good staff, easy check in and out. You are not spending much time in the room anyways so go for the location and you will be happy at the Amazon.
Our room and bathroom were small, but functional and clean. The location can't be beat. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great selection of items at breakfast. Overall, very satisfied with our stay.
The hotel was in a good location, not too far from the city centre. Breakfast at the hotel was nice and the room was clean with comfotable beds. There is no smoking signs in the corridor and rooms however ash trays are provided in the rooms and the smell of stale cigarette smell This impacted negatively on my stay.
I stayed at this hotel for one night before taking a cruise from Pireus I'll start by the location - the hotel is situated in the city center, about 200 meters from a subway station. You can easily walk from the subway station to the hotel. It's even a walking distance from the Acropolis, and all major city attractions The hotel stuff was extremly friendly. Check-in and check-out were easy The room was small (I understand that there are bigger rooms in this hotel), the bathroom (no bath only shower) was extremly small, but was adequate for two people. The room itself was quiet and clean Breakfast was nice (nothing more than the basic breakfast), and there is free (and very good) WiFi Above all - the price. You can't find a better hotel for that price. If you need a hotel in the center of town, for one night, at a good price, that's your hotel. I'd definately recommand it
We stayed here for 2 nights and found it to be adequate. Reception was courteous and helpful. We arrived in the late afternoon and check in took less than 5 minutes. The hotel itself is centrally located, at around a 10 minutes walk to Syntagma metro station. The facility and furnishings aren't new and the decor is definitely dated, but the room was clean and spacious. It was comfortable and outfitted with the usual amenities. In addition, temperature control was responsive and easy to use. The bed was like a cloud. Everything about the bathroom is tiny and crunched. I banged my head on the shelf above the sink a few times when washing my face. Though it was outfitted with all the usual toiletries. Hot water and water pressure were solid. The breakfast is continental buffet. It was filling and we have no complaints. There was even hot drinking water. All in all, this hotel was okay and we will consider staying here again in the future when we revisit Athens.
My rating is mostly for the perfect location of the hotel and the friendliness of most of the staff. Most of the places I wanted to visit are within a 2-kilometer radius. The rooms and bathrooms are small, but I can't complain given the price and the location. At any rate, I only needed a place to shower and crash for the night. Breakfast was the same each day, but it's nothing that put me off. The staff, especially Angeliki, Stelios, Panagiotis at the front desk and Maria at the cafe were all friendly and nice, even taking the time to teach me some Greek.
The location was great, right in the city centre and close to every place you have to see. Syntagma Square is just about 3 minutes walking so it is very convenient. Staff was nice and helpful any time we asked something. Breakfast was alright but the worst part was the room (204). It was super small as well as the bathroom. Definitely not worth the price we paid for 4 nights.
I checked in the month of October. I didn't like the room... very small and the toilet also quite small . I didn't book economy room still the room was so small. The room had no proper window.the window sil was too high.. they told it was a smoking room but when we came to the room found it to be non smoking room in a non smoking floor. The room was stuffy. Breakfast was awful. We stayed 3 days. Same repetitive breakfast and the timing is from 715am which is a bit late if you are going out for taking your flight Generally we stay in Novotel or Mercure of Accor group but due to the position of the hotel this time we selected this hotel and we didn't like .The location is superb. Syntagma station is walking distance.overall I would give 2.5 on 5.
The location was perfect, 2 minutes walk from the metro, was clean, staff especially ar breakfast room very frendly and helpuful. The room was modern and clean. I woud recommend it and i would stay there again.
Stayed here for two nights very friendly staff and the hotel is in a perfect location clean and very easy to find the bathroom and bed were fine and very quite at night and we would stay here again close to everything in Athens
Great hotel, with a very good location, close to every highlights for Athens, delicious breakfast, clean and tidy rooms and a very kind and helpful staff. If go back to Athens I certainly will stay there again.
The hotel was very central; there were several bars and restaurants around it. We walked from the hotel to ermou street, then to monostariki square, the acropolis, acropolis museum, had lunch at plaka and walked back to the hotel.
This hotel is in the heart of it all! We could walk to everything and easily come back to take a break or freshen up before an evening out. Since this was our honeymoon, we were SPOILED with the rooftop room 700 with a huge balcony and panoramic views of the city and the Acropolis. We highly recommend this hotel. Great location, breakfast, views and very clean!
We stayed here for 2 nights and when we arrived, they could not find our booking. The girl at the front desk then said they would put us into a room for one night and the we would need to move into another room, as that room was already booked. The first room (family room) was well appointed, clean and modern. The next room (double) was almost the opposite, it was just a small room with a small bathroom. I understand that it was probally the only room avaiable, but it was not what I expected. The hotel is however ideally located near shops and restuarants.
We stayed two nights at this beautiful central location. Close to restaurants, bars and shopping area, this hotel is situated just down town. We loved the simplicity of the interior decor and the cleanliness of the room.We will definitely stay there next time.
It is so conveniently close to everything that we could always take a break at any point of the day to go to the hotel to change or whatever. This was definitely the best of this hotel, added to the super clean rooms and great breakfast selection. The renovated rooms are smaller than the older ones but the size is perfectly fine. I would stay in this hotel anytime and I will recommend it to my friends and family.
Rooms are basic and small but comfortable. Bathrooms are very small! Locations is perfect. Less than a 5 min walk from Metro and in the Plaka district with lots of choice for meals. Breakfast was good - lots of variety.
Position could not be much better - on the edge of Plaka and only a couple of hundred metres from the transport hub of the city. All the historic sites are an easy walk. Three excellent restaurants across the street. Room was very large for a city centre hotel and was clean and well furnished. Breakfast was good by Greek standards though the orange juice and coffee were poor. It was also cheap. I have been recommending it to friends.
I was there for my honeymoon. Hotel location was perfect, close to metra and the archeological sites. Breakfast was fine, service too, the only down is that rooms are small, but it wasn't a big deal for the affordable price. We loved our time in Athens.
I stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Amazon Hotel at the end of August and had a mixed time. This was not down to the room, location or hotel facilities, but sadly the poor customer service. I checked in late on Night 1, around 10pm. No problem went up to my room on the 5th floor and it was fine. Room clean, tiny and everything working. The free wifi was spotty but no problem. Next morning went downstairs to meet up with a friend also staying at the hotel, ate breakfast - again delicious with lots of choice. Around 9:30 go to leave the hotel and was asked, quite curtly, what room I was staying in. I replied, and was told, again quite curtly, that I would have to move that day to another room. I asked why and was told that the room needed to be re-decorated. I appreciate that this can happen, but when I inquired as to why I had not been told this the evening before, and prior to unpacking my suitcase, no answer was given. I then asked when I would have to move, and was told 'this afternoon'. I tried to explain that I needed a narrower time slot as I would be out exploring the sites of Athens. I was then told early evening. OK - fine. In the evening I returned, talked to a different lobby clerk and was told that I would have to now move in the morning of the next day. Annoyed, but got on with it. On the morning of the 3rd day I went downstairs and was given the new room number, on the 2nd floor and smaller than the 5th floor. But OK, it is one night. at least the wifi worked better. My frustration was not in that I had to move, but how it was handled. I am/was not asking for any kind of compensation or recompense from the hotel, but I spoke to four different lobby staff. Not one of them offered any apologies or even said the word 'sorry' for the disruption to my stay. This may all seem petty, but I feel when you book at hotel room, you would like to know that for the duration of your stay things will be relaxing. This was not the case. I felt that the hotel staff could have been more appreciative of the disruption and at least offered an apology for a) not telling me when I checked in & b) offering an apology. It is a small thing to say 'sorry' but a significant one I feel. My stay was not terrible, and the hotel was fine and I don't want to labour the point, but I felt that ultimately the disruption to my stay was a matter that hotel staff didn't have any concerns about. It will put me off staying at a Best Western in the near future.
Every hotel should have a worker like .Agupova Taisia. She answered every single email i sent which was alot with great professionalism and kindness. She suggested stuff to me and even sent me information on what i asked. Amazing amazing employee . Please give her a raise. She is actually one of the main reasons i booked the hotel. The hotel is great located. You take the x95 from the airport which is 6 euros. It drops you off at sygmata square. You walk away from the guards and you will reach the hotel. Its walking distance to plaka monastraki and a super market and bus and subway. The hotel was clean , shower was great and comfy bed. Automatic safe good breakfast in the morning and like i said amazing staff. And just across the street is a tour guide green apple which is run by olga. She is amazing aswell and the prices are great. I highly recomend this hotel for all. Quiet clean and friendly staff. Price was very reasonable and taxis outside all the time at the corner.
This hotel is located in a strategic location: only 5 minutes walk to Syntagma Square and 15 to the Acropolis. The room was also nice and staff excellent, always happy to please any request. The only downside(but this is not the hotel's fault) was the big noise coming from the building in front, undergoing a major renovation; it was impossible sleeping after 8 am as the noise was too loud. Other than that it's a good choice for visiting the ancient wonders of Athens.
This hotel has all the basics, a clean room, clean bathroom, good wifi and most importantly an excellent location. The metro is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, as are several restaurants, bars and a supermarket. It's an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great location on a budget. The breakfast is very lack luster but the food is edible. The beds were a bit firm for my liking. I would recommend it to friends and I would probably return.
The area of the hotel is amazing. Only a few minutes walk to all the main sights and next tp ermou street ( shopping area) the rooms were just ok ( we got the non renovated one) it was fine for us as all we wanted was somewhere to sleep, although the carpets really do need to be changed.
Horrible small room at a fair price and a good location. Breakfast just as bad as the room. Photos online make the room look good but its in fact really bad. Maybe the most expensive rooms are nice but for their price you'll find better in Athens.
I stayed there just for a step-over in Athens on my way back home after my greek holiday. Nice hotel, welcoming receptionist. Quiet hotel, room very clean, small bathroom with tiny sink! Good breakfast with great choice. Maybe a bit overpriced.
We had a family room there were four of us, great space and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast variety was buffet style with basic essentials, we left very early in the morning and they packed the breakfast pack for each family member, great touch. Central and in walking distance to all major sites. Generally good experience.
This is a good located hotel it is just on the walking distance to Syntagma Square and the MRT station. The penthouse of this hotel has an amazing view from the lounge of Acropolis. it is highly recommended to someone who is traveling on a budget with Family. There are very good restaurants around the corner offering Pakistani, Indian & Continental cuisines.
Centrally located,at a safe area ,3 min walk from Syntagma spuare,Metro station and bus stop to-from the airport. Relatively good breakfast, could be more varied and of better quality though. No fresh juice ,no fresh croissants. Quite clean bathroom. However ,room s carpet had dirty stains. Good wifi and air condition. Kind and helpful staff. Old building, recently unsuficiently 'face' lifted.
Staff were very helpful, we arrived late and they helped us by early check-in. Perfect location in the heart of Athens, Close to Syntagma metro station and Parliament House. Clean room. But The room was very small with no view. Breakfast was average.
This Hotel is in the perfect location to The Plaka and centre of Athens, the main shopping and streets and sites of Athens. Easy access to walk from here. The hotel is modern and clean with good size rooms. We stayed here twice on our way to Corfu and on the way back from Skopelos. A short walk from the bus stop from the port. Highly recommended.
In the center of the city, Amazon is a hotel that allows to feel modern and old Athens. is a really good hotel and its service is one of its best offers. I really enjoyed my days in athens is this beautiful hotel
Not coming here again Anastasia at reception was not welcoming or friendly very cold personality. We checkd in and she told us breakfast times but didn't tell us where breakfast will be. When asked, she was quite abrupt.(mind you, we were speaking Greek to her) to make her life easier ?? On the flipside tho breakfast was very nice. Not worth sharing photos. ??????
We have just returned home to Australia and for those pondering a trip to Athens, do not hesitate to book your accommodation at the Amazon Hotel. We stayed for a period of 10 days. As part of our package was breakfast which occurred on the mezzanine (Floor H) each morning. This included a selected of pastries (including crepes and nutella), breads, hot food (eggs, bacon, sausages), juice, coffee, fruit, cheeses and sliced delicacies. The room was very clean and new towels changed and supplied each day. The staff were very helpful, polite, caring, hospitable and professional ... in short, that is the hotel! The location of the hotel is superb! A 2 minute walk down from Syntagma Square. This is where the metro is located ... by the way the trains are fast and frequent. Also, the tourist buses are located here too! The hotel is close to a very large number of restaurants, cafes and tavernas. The food and hospitality is outstanding. We ate a different place every night ... cheap, fresh and delicious. The hotel is close to the central shopping district and the flea markets which all are open until about 9.00pm every night. If you are lucky enough, you might be placed in a room with a view of the Acropolis ... the Acropolis is close enough you can almost reach up and touch! By the way, when walking around the local, narrow streets, many ruins are still in existence spread throughout the restaurants, cafes, taverns, shops, markets etc. for you to photograph and take in the atmosphere! Overall, do yourself a favour and stay at the Amazon Hotel and visit Athens ... you will not regret a moment!
Amazing staff! Cannot thank enough one of the receptionists who booked a doctors appointment for me after I became unwell suddenly and then checked up on me the next day. Also a great breakfast, great cleaning staff and good location.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 days the first week of July and from reading other reviews realize we were one of the lucky ones to get an updated room. We booked the room 1.5 months in advance and frankly it wouldn't have been our first choice, but the higher rated ones were already booked. When all is said and done we were very happy we ended up here. Unbeatable proximity to all the great places we wanted to see in Athens. The hotel is newly renovated and our room was modern clean and fresh! Small but certainly adequate with a brisk A/C, small wardrobe, fridge and a safe. The bathroom is small, but it's new and clean. Can't ask for more really for $130/night. One of the windows was warped and didn't close properly which we thought would be a noise and a temperature issue, but the corner of Mitropoleos and Agias Filotheis is surprisingly quiet and the A/C held up. And I conquer with everybody here, the breakfast was great!
We stayed here for three nights. Looked nice on the photos, so was disappointed to see old and dirty carpets when expecting wooden flooring. Tiny room with a smell of dampness. Tried to change but not very helpful people in the reception. Great location, though. So make sure to get a room that is refurbished.

Dear Guest Lille Berit, thank you for your reservation to our Best Western Amazon Hotel. I am really sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. I would like to ensure you that we will take into strong consideration your comments and I hope that during your next visit we will be able to offer you a great stay. Sincerely yours
I travelled to Athens with a friend and stayed at this hotel which was well situated in the center of Athens, a 5 mins walk from Syntagma metro and 7 mins to Monastiraki metro. Do make sure you ask for the newly renovated rooms as not all the hotel rooms are renovated yet. We were lucky enough to get the renovated room but the toilet was slightly small. Overall a good hotel for the price of €100 a night.
We arrived in 35-40 degree heat from winter in the Southern hemisphere. The rooms with wonderful air-conditioning were a welcome relief after walking from Syntagma station. Yes, this hotel is so well placed near Syntagma square that it is easily accessible via train from the airport. As well it is near/in the Plaka so numerous wonderful eateries nearby. And the breakfasts were fantastic catering for all tastes and cultures and kept us going for the day. Polite and friendly. The rooms are on the smallish side but enough space to enjoy. We loved the free wifi.
We stayed at the Best Western Amazon for 3 days in June 2016. We had a triple room which was adequate size but shower stall was very tight. Hairdryer needs to be updated as the one in our room looks like it was from the 1960's and not effective. AC was nice and cold. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was plentiful and good choices. Staff was very helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations. Thank you for Aggeliki and Taisia for arranging our transportation for 13 people to the port. Wifi signal was very good anywhere in the Hotel. The Hotel is about 5 mins walk from the Plaka. It is in a great area surrounded by shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.
I can't say enough nice things about this hotel. It was in great shape. The breakfasts were terrific. The location is outstanding. The staff members were courteous and professional. I had a very comfortable stay here.
We were stuck in Athens at 10pm at night after messing up a booking with another hotel and the Manager and Taisia went out of there way to ensure we were settled in one of there rooms as all other hotels were booked. They were marvelous and being so tired we were very grateful. Thanks Guys. The hotel was in a great location near Syntagma Square, very modern and Silvia was all smiles every morning for breakfast which was one of the best we had in Greece over 6 weeks.
We (family of 4) stayed here for a day in Jun 2016 and loved the hotel which was centrally located (it's a 5 minute walk to the Placa area which is the main site for great restaurants & shops). Our room was huge with a section for my 2 kids (age 10 & 13) that had 2 twin beds and a raised area for a queen bed for my husband and I. The decor was very modern and the bathroom was large with a full walk-in shower (rain shower head) and 2 sinks (and plenty of shampoo/soap supplied) - room looked brand new and upscale. Free Wi-Fi was excellent and wonderful breakfast. Staff was very helpful and kind - they kept our luggage for us since our room wasn't ready (we arrived early in the morning) and had it delivered to our room while we were out sightseeing. Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel!
The hotel in the perfecr location, rooms are not big but clean and very good (ni need more for city visist), breakfast are very good with =, Internet is prfect in the room and all the hotel, price a it high
I stayed here with my sister for two nights. The rooms were very small, the bathroom had a frosted glass sliding door, and the view of the town was non-existent. Rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and breakfast was ok. It's in a good location if you plan on walking to see the sights (Acropolis, Museum, Temple of Zeus, Panathenaic Stadium, etc.). If we were planning on staying longer, I think we would have paid for a better room or stayed elsewhere.
We stayed one night at the Amazon Hotel and found it to be a very good value. It doesn't have great eye appeal but is clean and comfortable. If you stay here and know what to expect, it is a great stay. We would certainly stay here again for an overnight visit. If were planning on staying longer, I would probably look for a hotel with more creature comforts than the Amazon. The neighborhood is nice, good restaurants in the area and it has free wifi. One other plus, the breakfast was included and it was delicious with both good presentation and a lot of choices. The staff was efficient and managed to get all 12 of us registered and to our rooms with a minimum of confusion. There was no staff to assist with luggage. All in all, it was a good place to stay.
The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of tourist attractions, shopping, and restaurants. There is also an ATM about 1 block away, which is very convenient. The rooms were clean, but small (probably appropriate size based on European standards) with the basic amenities. The room meets the need, but it's nothing extraordinary. We weren't in the room much anyway. The breakfast was good with many options, including pastries, crepes, eggs, greek yogurt, fruits, etc. My major complaint with this hotel is the staff! We asked the afternoon clerk on a recommendation for dinner, and she informed us that she does not recommend any specific restaurants. Do your research on your own because the hotel staff is not helpful on any recommendations. They also were not able to answer basic questions like the estimate cost to take a taxi to the airport (which varies based on time of the day, by the way).
Although we only stayed here one night. I wish we stayed longer. The breakfest was amazing with a super friendly staff and we got there very early and they managed to get our room ready way before check in time. We were tired so this helped a lot. One great thing is they are right next to okastos souvlaki place. Which is the best street food in Athens. The beds were comfortable. And the location is great if you are planning on going to the benaki museum or syntagma square. Great place that could easily be 4 stars. With a great price.
Great location in the heart of Athens. If you're satisfied with a 3 star hotel rating, then this is the one for you. Well priced for what it delivers. Staff was exceptional, rooms are adequate. Walking distance to the Greek Parliament, Easy access to all the sites.
Nice hotel. Free breakfast. We were upgraded free to a suite which was wonderful. Comfy beds, nice linens, best shower I've ever had with phenomenal water pressure. Robes, safe, mini fridge, large screen tv in room. Great location, 2 minute walk to Plaka full of shops and restaurants. 15 minute walk to Acropolis.
The best parts about this hotel are (1) the friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff, (2) the great location that is easy to get to from the metro and in the heart of Plaka for easy, walk-able access to shopping and restaurants, and the Acropolis and other ancient sites, and (3) rooms that are clean with amenities. Free breakfast was a bonus. The only negative was that the shower stall leaked water all over the bathroom floor. I would definitely stay here again, though, the location was perfect.
We stayed here twice-- the first time we got an unrenovated room. It was fine, definitely not great, but the shower was quite small for my tall husband. We went out of town for a night, then when we came back, we asked for a room with a larger shower and managed to get one of the renovated rooms. This room was much nicer, and even had a better bed. I'd stay again, but only if I knew I was getting the renovated room. Location was prime, though a bit deceiving-- we didn't realize how golden it was until we really got out and walked a few blocks in multiple directions. It was hard to tell just from walking there via the square since the immediate block doesn't look that great. Turn right and you'll get to Plaka, turn left and you'll get to the flea market, more shopping and restaurants, go straight and you'll get to Syntagma and the national gardens.
Lovely hotel .. beds are comfortable .. great place to rest ur head .. rooms are very clean .. breakfast is lovely and the staff are wonderful .. thank u for letting us stay .. from the scruffy english ??
We were upgraded to a suite on the 7th floor, with an exclusive private terrace and a balcony. The room had views of the acropolis. The hotel staff was very warm. The breakfast was good, although need more options for vegetarians. The hotel was nicely made, clean, clear. The location and the stay was perfect. The suite had a living room and a bedroom connected. Breakfast for vegetarians could be improved with more options. Its the best located. Right in center of the Athens. Every place is walkable from here.
Lovely hotel, great staff, service. Beautiful breakfast presentation. Comfy beds. Need I say more:) Our visit to Greece was made so much more comfortable for our departure back home. I wish we had stayed a little longer.
Hotel in great location for the ancient ruins. Good clean room with comfy bed and ensuite. Friendly and helpful staff. Can't fault it! We didn't come to athens to spend loads of time in a hotel, just bed ,shower ,breakfast then out exploring
This was a reasonable hotel. Good location as it was very close and walking distance to everything. Nice buffet breakfast. Room was very small. We asked for a non smoking room but the whole hotel smelled of smoke so you couldn't really avoid it. Good for a budget place maximum 3 star hotel.
It was my second time at Great Western Amazon and I wanted to avoid the type of room I had the first time (see my previous review), so I went for room 700, which is the suite on the top floor. It was a fabulous price in early April but I had booked it several weeks in advance. You go all the way to the top in the retro-lift and when you come out you realise that it's just you (and whoever you're with) on the entire floor apart from the CCTV watching you, which is a comforting thought. On entering the suite you immediately notice how clean and tidy it all is. To your left you've got the fridge, desk, sofa area and TV and above the sofa there's a window with a view of the Akropolis. If you've never had a personal view of it like this before, then you'll be bursting open the champagne or at least downing a good Papagiannakos Retsina to admire it to the fullest of extents, despite it being a couple of km away. Moving onto the next part of the suite and there's a big, bouncy double bed and the bathroom to the left. It is equipped with a shower unit that has multiple directional jets that pummel your back and thighs mercilessly, leaving you full of vigour and fervour. It's a bit like a scaled-down, but infinitely more pleasurable version of 10 water cannons battering you senseless during a serious-demo in Syntagma Square. The room's also got a porthole window you can open, essentially framing the view of the Akropolis as you ooh and aah between the jets. Now, the best thing about this suite is most definitely the terrace. A sliding door to the right as you enter allows you outside. At first you think, mmmm, okay, then as you turn left it opens out into an area literally gifted with so much space that you could perform martial arts. It's also got a table and chairs where you can sit in the spring heat whilst drinking more retsina and marvelling more at the Akropolis until you wish the novelty of the building would wear off. You're outside in the middle of the city, up out of the way, yet it's peaceful and quiet despite the constant psycho-social buzz of Athens below. Indeed, one could imagine clandestine deals taking place out here on the terrace or the entire suite could easily be used in a sort of low-budget secret agent-styled film. Breakfast was plentiful, but lacked any warmth, apart from the coffee and the baby spinach and cheese pies. The breakfast girl was very friendly despite having to put up with certain guests asking her questions like “Is Piraeus Port worth seeing?” She parried these blows expertly without so much as snort, rolled eye or counter-jab. I'm going to stay here again in the same room, not in any other room and that's that!
Nice hotel in the heart of Athens best location clean rooms even though our room was really small but the bed was ok and the bathroom clean with a shower really nice for a city break good value for money

Dear guest, thank you for your reservation to our Best Western Amazon Hotel. We are always happy to know that our guests had a good stay in our Hotel. Though your total score is extremely low, your comments are very good regarding the location, the cleanness and our rates and we would like to thank you for that. If you have any negative comments or if you would like to underline some points, please let us know accordingly, since you will give us the possibility to become better.
We had stayed just for 1 night at the Best western Amazon. The rooms and washrooms are pretty small but however since the hotel is newly renovated it felt good. The hotel is very close to syntagma square. So u can walk down to any of the attractions in plaka and neighbourhoods. We had a next day early morning flight to Mykonos and they were kind enough to serve on-the go packed breakfast with breads, spreads and nuts which was appreciable. The staff is helpful and very courteous.
We stayed at the Best Western Amazon Hotel for 4 nights in May 2016. The hotel is very nice, at a great location in Athens - 3 minute walk from Syntagma Square, all major attractions (Acropolis, Ancient and Roman Agora, etc) within walking distance. Room was small but adequate for our needs, nice breakfast. Overall we highly recommend this hotel if you come for sightseeing in Athens.
The location of the hotel is perfect to explore most of the sights in Athens by foot.. all the major tourist attractions are within 15-20 mins walking distance which was a major factor for us. Very good restaurants and shopping areas (like Plaka and Ermou Street) are within 100 mtr from the hotel. The Metro and the Hop-On Hop-Off stops are also very close by. We used this hotel as a base for our 9 day Greece trip and stayed here on 3 different nights. The hotel was nice enough to store our extra luggage which helped us travel light for our short excursions to Santorini and Meteora.. The front desk staff was very courteous and helped us with all our inquiries. They also packed a basic breakfast for us on the days that we were leaving early in the morning. The rooms were a tad bit small but didn't really matter considering the fact that we hardly stayed indoors. Rooms were clean, nicely designed and quite comfortable. Bathrooms were a little small too but that's typical to most European city hotels. All in all, we had a great experience with this hotel and would definitely visit again.

Dear Guests, Always happy to know that our guests enjoyed their stay with us! Hope during your next visit in Athens, you will find our hotel renovated and even better. Sincerely yours
This hotel was nice at best. We spent 16 hours traveling to get there and were extremely tired. We arrived at the hotel at 11am and they told us we had to wait to check in till 12 noon. This is poor service in my opinion. The staff didn't have knowledge or recommendations about things to do in the area and also they couldn't assist us with organizing a taxi to take us to the port. It wasn't difficult though we got one close outside the hotel. The rooms were ok. The AC was not working, so we had to open the windows. The room did however have a view of the Acropolis, which was pretty in the night as it lit up. I can't comment on the breakfast as we had to leave before the restaurant opened in the morning. It's a good location, close to restaurants, and to the city tour buses.
The location of the hotel is great. The room layout was ok. That's about all we liked about this place. We reserved two rooms here kind of last minute after changing our travel plans. Both rooms had very obnoxious AC systems that blasted all night long if left on. Changing the temperature settings made no difference. We tried opening the windows but it was way too noisy outside. This made it impossible to sleep, which was miserable after long flights. The shower stalls are so small that if you are taller or wider than average, you'll have a hard time moving around. One guy at the front desk was nice -- helped with bringing our luggage up and print out a travel confirmation that we needed. He was also genuinely concerned when our son's hand got caught between the sliding doors. The other staff seemed nonchalant and didn't offer any helpful advice on traveling in Greece or sights to see. Such a contrast to our other experiences in Greece.
As i wrote to my previews review we are visiting this hotel every year since 2013 . It is the perfect choice if you are looking for a hotel in the center near everything . It is 5 minutes walk from syntagma metro station and the bus station for the bus X95 the express line to and from the airport . The hotel is excellent from all point of view . Facilities , Price , and personel . They upgrate our room because of my wifes birthday. Gongragulations to the management and Thank you all for everything . Visit it and you want regreat it .
Amazing location and accessible to almost everything that anyone must see when goes to Athens-Greece. Delicious breakfast which anyone can be pleased The rooms are comfy and warm. Very clean and the employees are ready to help you in anything you request and need. Excellent service. Will be choosing them again for sure.
good breakfast, clean rooms, but very small. Bas viuw at a building wich is in the re-building mode. staff at densk unpersonal and cool. rooms are small. Smal showe. Central in the city, walking distance for the sightseeing
I stayed at this lovely hotel for three nights with my wife in March and i can assure everyone that this hotel is a hidden gem in the very heart of Athens! Its price is amazing value for money, the hotel is fully renovated with lovely well sound proofed rooms that even feature wooden floors plus everything that you need, breakfast is great with an amazing variety, the staff everywhere is truly wonderful and the location of the hotel is simply unbeatable in the very heart of Athens (You can literally walk to everywhere from this place)! Will definitely return :)
Originally 3 nights foreseen, finally 4, due to local strike. Good location. Very good, helpfull staff at check-in desk. I got a very good, spacious room on the 6th floor. Bathroom complete, but a bit small. Good self-service breakfast. The rate I got for that week is extremely good (72 €/day, breakfast included, try that in another capital city !).
So, the impression depends on the room you get. First we got smoking room, witch was small, old and smelly. We changed it the next day and the other one was bigger, and renovated with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast is decent but the best thing is then location- 20 m from the main Ermoy street and Sintagma square. Great for a city break.
This hotel is located right in the center of the city.Ermou street is just a 5 minute walk away, also there are many restaurants and coffee shops near by. Syntagma is less than 10 minutes away which provides easy and fast access to a metro station. Our room was clean however the bed wasn't very comfortable. There was a mini bar in the room and a big tv that offered channels in various languages (french, spanish, chinese, english). Staff was super friendly and they even let us check in an hour earlier. Breakfast buffet was fantastic with a great variety of options! I will definitely book this hotel again.
Staff was helpful and very friendly. Room was very small but ok for 2 it's enough. bathroom also too small . very good location in the centre near Ermou street. very close plaka area, monastiraki and syntagma metro station!!
The hotel is ideally located in Plaka, 5 minute walk from Syntagma square, Ermou shopping street and many other places. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable (the smart TV in the room is a nice addition) and the breakfast is OK for a 3 star hotel ( the nuttella pancakes are something not to miss). Finally, the people working here are very helpful and polite.
Its a Best Western Hotel. You get what you pay for. I'm not saying all Best Westerns are bad but they are not 5 star hotels. The rooms were small, showers even smaller, and poor ventilation. I could hear everything our neighbors were saying. The staff seem to be annoyed to be there, but hey it's cheap! The location towards everything touristy was the real winner here. The hotel was just meant to crash and sleep and go out and do tourist stuff. A lot of good local restaurants that you could ask the receptionist about and she would tell you. Everything you wanted to do in Athens was basically walking distance from the hotel location. Breakfast. the breakfast was also good. Their Greek yogurt or I guess just yogurt was awesome and I still think about it time to time in my sleep. The breakfast food was good bread was awesome and a good selection of olives because everybody seems to put olive oil and and olives on EVERYTHING. Other than that, I felt very safe there. It was busy at night and a lot of people were helpful. Eat their breakfast yogurt with peach and honey toppings.
Nice, modern hotel in the center of Athens close fo Syntagma square and metro station. Parthenon and new museum, as well as many shops and tavernas at walkable distance. Our room was nice size with rather big bathroom, very clean. Free wifi with decent speed throughout hotel. Delicious breakfast with nice variety of local food.
The hotel is recently renovated with very nice decorations. The location is in the heart of Athens exactly next to syntagma square and to the main shopping road. Very close to nice restaurants and metro station. The rooms are clean and spacious. Only the bathroom was very small and not very convenient.
Poor staff, no smile, no welcome!:( Hotel with no character, nice location( but noisy ) and when I've arrived I was not worth of a welcome! Poor staff! Find an other hotel if you can:) there are many with nicer staff and great personality! Have a good trip!

Dear Marco C thank you for your stay in our Best Western Amazon Hotel. I am sorry to understand that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Since in Best Western Amazon, we put our best in order our guests to be happy, it will be much appreciated if you could give us some more information regarding our staff attitude (hrs of duty and/or days of duty, etc) I strongly believe this will help us to get better Thank you in advance Manager on duty
This hotel is perfectly situated for travellers whom wish to see the sights of Athens and explore the night life in and around the Plaka and the very busy Monasteraki square. It is a short walk away from Syntagma Square where you catch a bus or metro to anywhere including the airport or port. We walked through the Plaka and up to the Parthenon. Many restaurants to choose from around every corner. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is very friendly. Good coffee. Fantastic breakfast. I would stay here again!
My husband and I stayed at Best Western Amazon during our first visit to Athens. I was very pleased with my stay as the hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel because it was reasonably prices, close to the train station and most importantly very clean.
24h reception which was great as we arrived at 2 am, quickly got the keys to our room. Room was so much better than I expected! Large, modern, clean, comfortable and with a view of the Acropolis! Great value for money, though I have to note that I booked through an offer from booking.com. Large breakfast, sweet and savoury, friendly staff. And yes, there is a construction site next to the hotel (it didn't annoy as at all though), but it is not a permanent feature, I am sure it will be closed soon. Great location if you want to explore the centre of Athens by foot or use the metro (close to Syntagma Square station) or if you want to go shooping (Ermou street is 2 minutes away).
Had a great trip to greece on Christmas holidays, and I'm very happy to choose this hotel, as they have very friendly and helpful staff, very clean rooms and great room service. Have to mention i'm in love with their breakfast. Will choose this hotel again and again!
Like other folks who have never been to Athens and after having done a little research before booking took a gamble on this Hotel. The room was clean and found very little fault with it. Unfortunately the view from the room faced scaffolding and green webbing from the building 6 meters away that was being renovated and building works were being carried out. Unfortunately the hotel never bothered to inform me, as a customer of this. The Hotel as no bar so if your after a night cap before retiring you will have to go somewhere else...big let down. The roof terrace to the hotel is in fact a private suite so there is no access to the wonderful views across the city and Acropolis ...another big let down when other hotels have turned their roof terraces into Bar & Cafe areas. Breakfast was Okay. The Pro to this Hotel is the fact that it is by far in one of the best locations for accessing the cities shops, restaurants, bars and major archaeological all with in walking distance. Would I use this hotel again?...It represented good value for money but for the same price there are other hotels in the area offering more amenities for the same price and a roof terrace/bar/cafe. Will be trying those out on my next visit to Athens
Bathroom floor drain backed up and garbage can meant for used toilet paper (in Greece you don't flush any paper) had the foot pedal broken so you had to open by hand or leave open all the time. If these issues had been fixed, the overall rating would have been excellent on every other count.
We loved the proximity of this hotel to Syntagma Square, Monastiraki Square and all the archeological sights. We were able to walk to all. Breakfast was great. The WiFi worked well in our room. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We stayed over New Year's and found the street noise very good. Our whole floor was non smoking which was a pleasant surprise. I would recommend this Best Western to everyone.
Great location to center of Athens I would recommend staying here if you are on a budget The free breakfast is great - the staff is super helpful and extremely accommodating! They even let us eat breakfast hour after the cut off time Only con was size of the rooms and bathrooms - wished they were more spacious
Stayed in an one-bedroom room with a double bed. The hotel was a positive surprise: new, modern and fresh furniture, nice bathroom and large TV. Breakfast was rich, tasty and continuously full. But the best of all was the service; every single person was polite and helpful. They even came in the evening to ask if we needed extra towels. Reasonably priced at the most central spot. Will definitely re-visit.

The room was ok. The breakfast too except the too hot breakfast hall. Unfortunately the room was too noisy because there is a new building next to it and the workers start to drill from 7 in the morning. I don't know is this a new hotel or what but when you are out all night it's hard to sleep a lot. Never again!

Dear Vlado, thank you for making your reservation to our Best Western Amazon Hotel. I am really sorry, you did not enjoy your stay with us. As I read at your comments you were annoyed by the noise of the neighboring building. I would like to express my apologies on that. We made all legal efforts, but this is a private project. Just for you to know, the noise last 2-3 days and now we are back to normal peaceful days. Hope you will give us the chance to welcome you in our Hotel, once again in the future and prove you that we are making our best for our guests. Sincerely yours Katerina Kounadi
A group of five of us travelled to Athens to take part in the recent Athens Marathon and stayed here. The accommodation was clean and well presented and is in an excellent location. Really helpful staff who go out of their way to ensure you have a comfortable stay and a lovely breakfast buffet is served every morning. The only disappointing things were the views from the rooms (but it is in the middle of a city) building work next door (but cannot blame the hotel for this) and a lack of tea/coffee making facilities in rooms. Other than that, the hotel was perfect for us and we really enjoyed our stay there.

Excellent location, but the bed was narrow and there was a lot of noise from the street below, especially when building work was going on at an adjacent building. Disappointing breakfast (especially the 'orange' juice. Expected more from a Best Western.
We were a party of 3 couples and booked 3 rooms in this hotel . Our main reason for the choice was reviews and the fact that this hotel was close to Acropolis and has great views from hotel . We stayed for 2 nights and the air conditioner in the rooms did not work we complained multiple times but no one bothered looking into ,had no air conditioning in all 3 of our rooms throughout our stay. Luckily we were able to open the only single window in our rooms that provided some cold air at nights. We booked double rooms with Acropolis view but the size of the bathrooms was very tiny . Acropolis view from the room was beautiful at nights all illuminated wish the balcony doors were accessible from the rooms .Only plus point was that this hotel was right in the center of downtown very close to shopping, restaurants and Acropolis. Breakfast served was also good. This was the last stop in our two week vacation across Turkey and Greece wish the stay could have been more comfortable.

Great and clean hotel for what you pay! good breakfast, help desk( reception) were very friendly and helpful too. close to all the main shops (clothing stores) etc. One of the better hotels in Athens!!! We would stay here again!!
The Hotel was very centrally located we were able to walk to shops and the metro very easily. (The airport was 40 minutes via the metro). From our room we had a great view of the city, Acropolis and Parthenon.
We had originally booked for a 3-night stay. However, a friend visiting Athens a week earlier had warned us of the huge construction being done next to the hotel. Unfortunately, the drilling noise began at 7:15am the next morning, and continued loudly throughout the breakfast hour. That prompted us to check out immediately and we found accommodations at another hotel down the street. Quite unfortunate for this establishment.
Rooms VERY small but fair quality. No in room tea/coffee facilities. Staff first claimed this was a mistake, then advised they were short of boilers (kettles) and finally said that they thought, perhaps, that they never had such facilities in the first place??? Go figure.
Finishing up a 4 night staff at Best Western Amazon. This hotel is a block from Syntagma Square and just steps from the Plaka. We arrived early after departing a cruise and had to wait about an hour for our room 607 with great view of Acropolis. Lobby is very nice, clean and modern. Wifi is free and was very fast . Reception staff is very helpful, friendly and speaks excellent English. Anastasia, Kostas and Nadine were very helpful throughout our staff. There is construction right by the hotel ( on a new hotel) so best to ask for a room away from that. Television has several English language options. Wifi in room is fast, too. Large elevator accommodates multiple guests and luggage. We had a nonsmoking room and it was fine. However, smoking rooms located with the nonsmoking rooms, so some smoke smell can enter under the door. I suggested that all smoking rooms be placed on the same floor. While we had a nice sitting area with Acropolis view (amazing), the bathroom is small and doesn't have a lot of counter space. The shower was fine, but no shower curtain/door so you had to be careful. The housekeeper stopped by each evening to see if any supplies where needed ( first time for this in a 3 star hotel). Got ice each night with no problem......the room had a fridge which was very nice. Safe box provided in room. Breakfast in from 7:15-10:30 and offered a great variety....hard boiled eggs, friend eggs and scrambled eggs....little sausages and English Bacon, crepes, pastries, various breads, cheeses, cold cuts, tomatoes, olives ( nice Greek touch) dried fruits, fresh fruits and various cereals, coffee and juice. Sylwia, breakfast attendant, is fantastic and so helpful.....the room ran smoothly and was well maintained. The location is great...just a block from Syntagna Square, Metro, and the Plaka....a Baazar Supermarket is less than a block away.....restaurants and bars abound in the area and shopping is so close. Loved the property and will definitely stay again.
Literally a stone's throw from Syntagma Square, this hotel is really good value for money - a short walk to the Plaka, Monastiraki, Acropolis, Anafiotika, shops, restaurants! The staff are really helpful, organised taxis for us, bringing ice to the room. Breakfasts very tasty - and plenty of variety as well.
My two teenaged daughters and I stayed in the family room in April 2015. It was clean and spacious and perfect for three people -- a room for three or four isn't easy to find in Europe. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to tourist attractions and restaurants, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is large and bright and offers an array of breads and cheeses and meats every morning. My daughters still talk about it as the best hotel breakfast they've ever seen. Good value for the money, which I'd call medium-range in price.
We stayed in this Hotel overnight before catching our flight back to the UK. After a 6 hour bus trip from Lefkada we arrived at 6.30pm. Check In was fast and efficient. The room was small but everything we needed was there. Small bathroom but fantastic shower with a shower door which seems to be a bit of a rarity in Greece :0) The bed was large and comfortable and the air conditioning was great. Breakfast was ideal, enough choice and the Hotel is centrally located. It took approx 5 mins to walk down to the Plaka and the Hotel is about 5 mins walk to Syntagma Metro. We would definitely consider this Hotel again when next in Athens.
Great location near plaka old area and syntagma square, in a quiet street. Room very clean and spacious. Not fashionable or trendy but lovely soft mattress and slept really well. Construction right now so don't plan any naps, mind you the Greek men always seem to be taking a day off so it might not affect u. All worked well enough in room and nice places nearby for coffee etc. breakfast really nice, not massive selection but lovely blond girl on duty and food fresh and tasty. Very close to acropolis and parliament. I'd definitely stay there again, they gave us a 1.30 check out, Slight warning - they still have smoking rooms in Greece. We got one, but it was actually fine you couldn't really tell. Make sure you check that out as I think 2 or 3 on each corridor are smoking.
While the rooms are a bit small, the location is excellent as is the breakfast. You're only a short walk to Syntagma Square, Monastiraki, Plaka and the Parthenon. Don't stay here if you're looking for luxury or if you plan on hanging out in your room a lot. Definitely stay here if you want a nice place to stay that's close to all the things to see in Athens with a great breakfast. Front desk staff was helpful as well.
The hotel was fine. One of our windows wouldn't close properly so you could always hear the Street. The Street wasn't too loud, but it was annoying enough. We left at the not unreasonable hour of 7am. Breakfast is served at 7:15. Would not let us grab a quick bite before we left.

Dear Lorcan M., thank you for making your reservation to our Best Western Amazon Hotel. I am really sorry, we did not met your expectations and you did not enjoy your stay with us. I would like to know, however, if you asked our front desk employee to maintain the window in your room. Furthermore, I would also like to know, if you asked for earlier breakfast or for package. It is essential for us, to have our guests fully satisfied and of course we put our best every day. Our personnel is guest oriented and they do know that problems must be faced on the spot. Please, let me know accordingly, taking one minute and send me a relevant email at [email protected] This will help us to get improved. I, strongly hope that you will give us the chance to welcome you again in Best Western Amazon. Sincerely yours, Katerina Kounadi Manager
This is a hotel well suited for those on business. It's clean, has a good enough breakfast and is well located with professional staff. A couple of drawbacks: try not to get a room on the street as this will be noisy all night, or use ear plugs. There's major construction opposite the hotel during the day but mostly you will be somewhere else. A good choice for a couple of nights and very close to the airport bus for 5€ from Syntagma square.
Brilliant staff who were so helpful when we were told by phone that my wife's mother had passed away. Also, accommodation for four was excellent. Nice location near shops and restaurants. Good breakfast, no problems.
