« No frills, standard hotel. »

This place might not be very sexy but it'll do the trick if you're trying to get to the National archeological museum early the next day. The neighbourhood isn't the prettiest but it's perfectly safe and you can walk down the bigger road and be in Plaka in about 10 minutes. Or just take a cab for 5 eur. Staff were very friendly when we arrived, offered drinks and were quick to help out. Place has ok wifi, not quick enough for youtube nor netflix though.Rooms are spacious enough and it's very clean. Plenty of hot water. Payed 8 euros a head for breakfast which wasn't anything special. Would stay again if I was going to the museum.

    « Good hotel, so-so neighbourhood »

My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel mid-November. It is quite new and the staff welcoming. The room and the bed were comfortable enough for a 3-star hotel. It is located 15 minutes away from the Omonia metro station so you can get easily into the city. The neighbourhood is a bit dodgy with lots of graffiti on the walls. Many shops were also closed. We were not properly advised on the riots that take place every year in the area near the hotel, with numerous streets closed and policemen throwing tear-gas at manifestants. Overall, good value for money if you don't mind the not so charming neighbourhood.

« Very Good Hotel Choice »

The Best Western Museum is kitty corner to the National Archealogical Museum and is walking distance to everything in central Athens. The rooftop terrace has nice views, a bonus. We don't have many hotels with these in Canada! Staff are very helpful. Apparently the owner also owns a couple other Best Westerns in Athens. Judging by the way this hotel is run, all would ne safe bets.

« Good Service and staff. »

Plus + Had great wifi, on the 5th floor. Can't hear traffic at night, as it's on a sleepy back road. Only a 3min walk away from the museum. Also at the front of the museum is the city sightseeing tour bus. Where you can hop and off at any time. (buy a ticket via online, its a little cheaper) Mini bar fridge in room. With x2 complimentary bottles of water. 13min walk to the very busy city centre. Negs - I wouldn't recommend as a solo lady traveler. Being alone after dark. If your a couple, not problem at all. (but there's certainly not gangs of people hanging around at night and on the street corners) But it is located in a sleepy area. Conclusion. I would stay there again? Yes.

    « Good. »

Clean towels, comfy bed, nice balcony, friendly staff and great breakfast. Slightly far away from closest metro station. Only downside was the carpets in the room was quite dirty. Overall it was good stay.

    « Great service »

From the moment we arrived early, the service was terrific, friendly and responsive to our needs. We arrived early and instead of having to store our luggage until 3 pm, they gave us a room. The hotel backs onto the National Archeological Museum, which was very convenient for a rainy day visit. Across the street from the museum is the stop for the hop-on, hop-off buses, which is a good way to schlep bags from the cruise port for a lot less than a taxi, and then hop on again without the bags for sightseeing later. The beds and bathroom were very comfortable. The room was small but not cramped with 2 free bottles of water in the fridge. There was a small lounge a few steps down from the main floor and a good and varied breakfast included. There's even a squeeze your own orange juice station. When we needed to leave for the airport, staff again were very helpful with options and costs and phoned a taxi for us. They even helped us take our luggage out to the taxi. And we got all this for well under $100/night. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

    « Sleep comfy »

Very clean room on the top floor with a huge balcony. Super comfy beds with blankets. Staff friendly and helpful. It's located just behind the university, 10 min to Metro station Omonia. Will recommend.

« My Athens stay at Best Western Museum Hotel »

The staff and service were excellent. Location was great and the cleanliness exceeded my expectations. My only complaint was a noisy air conditioner. Got a different room on a second stay and had a whisper quiet air conditioner. Overall I believe the hotel represents excellent value for money.

    « Comfortable stay!! »

Its a budget property affiliated to Best Western chain. The rooms offer all the basic modern facilities and the staff is courteous. Appreciate the complimentary upgrade they offered me. Only reason to give rating of 3 instead of 4, is the location of the property which could be a little eerie in night

« Very helpful and friendly hotel! »

Although the room was small, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They always had a smile on their face and answered to all of our needs. We spent 5 days with them.We had our breakfast at the hotel. they have a lovely breakfast buffet every morning. The front desk staff helped us find delicious restaurants for lunch/dinner. They helped us with excursions around Athens. Kostav was always ready to help us with luggage, directions, even some much needed beverages as soon as we arrived while we were checking in. We had a problem with our flight home because of the air traffic controllers striking. The staff were bending over backwards to help us deal with this problem. The hotel is close to downtown Athens. you can walk to the ruins if you are feeling energetic. There is a great Museum right beside the hotel too. We spent hours in it. When I have a chance to return to Athens, I will be happy to stay with the Museum Hotel.

« Well located, near subway, city center and, of course, the Museum »

Room and services are enough well. You should choose this hotel if your plan is to use it only like a base to which return only to rest and to have breakfast. Every time we ask for a service, the man at the reception

    « Good stay »

What we've got for what we've paid well worth it. The breakfast was nice the room was decent size the bathroom was big, the hotel was very clean. We had a balcony which is a very nice feature but the neighborhood is not the best one. There is graffiti everywhere and some garbage as well. If you need a nice place to stay that night at place where you can leave your luggage and leave for the day I think it's the perfect spot but if you plan to stay in the area and visit the surrounding of the hotel during the day and at night I think you will be very disappointed.

« A modern Hotel close to the ancient Greece »

I've choose BWM hotel because the Museum in front of it. The place around is not so good, but the Hotel is completely renewed and the staff is excellent. Very nice breakfast and not so far from the Athen's center. My room was nice, clean and quite.

    « Great hotel »

I was really impressed. The hotel is quite central (about 15-20 minutes walk from major sights and restaurants). The rooms were clean and nicely set out. Staff were beyond helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were fantastic. Will be staying here the next time I visit. Thank you so much guys.

« Chain hotel good reception staff »

The reception staff were really helpful. 10 minute walk to the underground. 3 stops to the Acropolis. Breakfast was good. If you leave before breakfast in the morning they will give you a lunch box. Rooms have balconies and there is roof terrace where you can see the Acropolis on a night time. Take the lift to level 7 and walk up the stairs. The area is covered in graffiti, the standard of graffiti is shocking.... Nothing worth looking at apart from 1 or two pieces out of 100,000! It's not a place to meet other travellers. I used the hotel for a night then left Athens. The price is good for what you pay for.

« Just the right kind of hotel to explore Athens »

We only stayed overnight in transit to the airport for an early morning flight. The location is just right for access to a lively square full of restaurants etc., as well as plenty of shops along the main highway. The hotel itself was exceptionally clean and we were surprised at the quality for a 3*. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Facilities were good. The price paid was well worth every penny.

« Excellent Value in the Centre of Athens »

I stayed here for a few days recently, during a leisure trip to Athens, as a solo traveller. I had previously visited Athens several times over the years and wanted to see how the city and its environs were faring at the moment. I was looking for a good value hotel in the centre of the city and certainly found it with the Museum hotel. It's a 15 minute walk from the Omonia Square Metro station, although one could take a trolleybus ride for most of the distance if desired. I personally found the walk easy and interesting, and while the general area around the hotel is somewhat run down, at no time did I feel the least bit unsafe, even when I walked to Omonia Square at 5 am in the dark. On arrival at the hotel, the staff were warm and welcoming, as they were throughout my stay. I asked for a room on a higher floor and received a compact double room on the 6th floor. This was very quiet and more than adequate for me as a solo traveller, and although there wasn't much of a view from the room, just one floor up there was a roof terrace/garden with fabulous views over the city. The room contained pretty well all the amenities and features one would expect from a 3-star hotel, including a comfortable double bed, excellent air conditioning, fridge, safe, ensuite, etc, etc. The free in-room wi-fi also worked very well, and the complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent and much more than a regular continental breakfast set-up, with several hot dishes. The hotel certainly exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely stay here again should I visit Athens again.

« bright, clean, airy and modern with very helpful friendly staff »

Spacious room, very clean, up to date, very comfy and nice toiletries in clean modern bathroom. Great location, near to many amenities and we were able to walk to a lot of places. Felt safe, also room very quiet.

« Great place to stay for a quick city break in Athens. »

We had an excellent experience with the hotel, which is very clean, the rooms nicely furbished and the beds were really comfortable. The staff are extremely welcoming, ready to help at any time. All in all, the hotel in itself is really nice, the price was absolutely decent and the breakfast very good.

« Best sunset rooftop hotel! »

Reception was helpful and polite to guests. Love the rooftop where a city view was clearly seen and sunset view was perfect. Bathroom size was a bit small particularly the shower area. Need improvement.

« Don't let the suburbs surrounds fool you. Lovely hotel in a great position. »

Wanted a mid priced hotel close to the centre of Athens and chose the Great Western Museum. The area is riddled in graffiti but don't let that fool you, all of Athens in covered in graffiti. The hotel is lovely, comfortable and the staff very helpful. Only a 15 minute walk to Amonia Square and another 15 to Syntagma Square. Hotel is only 150m from the Tour Bus stop which is also a big plus. Rood top views are beautiful.

    « Good stay! »

A comfortable hotel, we were told that the area wasn't safe, So we were careful of not being out late. However, the main areas of attraction are quite close! Just 2 blocks from the hotel is a square with great places to eat!

« Very nice hotel , area a little unsafe »

We had a very nice experience with the hotel, which was very clean, the rooms nicely furbished (AC worked well), the beds were really comfortable. The staff are extremely welcoming, ready to help at any time. The area surrounding the hotel seemed a little dangerous, meaning that most of the buildings were covered with grafitti and we even saw 2 cars that were burned. All in all, the hotel in itself is really nice, the price was absolutely decent and the breakfast very good.

« Good for a short stay in Athens »

Very helpful reception staff. Very clean. Nice room. Reasonable price. We were very impressed when we had an early departure and had to leave before the breakfast time, the hotel staff gave us a bag with a picnic to take. A nice gesture without asking.

    « Nice hotel »

Even if the neighbourhood is not that nice, the hotel itself is a good place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by all the persons who work there. The room was very clean and the hotel was also quiet. The breakfast was ok. Also, they have a deal with a parking in the same street so you can park your car in a safe place for a few euros.

    « Cheap »

The reception is very welcoming & helpful. Price was really good! The room was clean & the bathroom too. It's not a luxury hotel, but it very appropriate for a short stay. The only disadvantage it was about 15 mins walk from the nearest underground station.

« Really Good Hotel, excellent Location, Value for money »

Clean modern hotel... Rooms have satellite TV balconies etc... About 10/15 from metro and right beside a square of cafes and bars so you dont have far to stumble home....The hotel has a bar at reception which is very forgettable however on the 7th floor is a roof garden with tables which is much more exciting memorable and you can bring your drinks up there.. The reception and concierge staff are exceptional both with making the guest feel welcome and wanted and directing them to various tourist attractions.. If you are travelling alone or the person who has to organise everything for your group all the time you will really appreciate these guys ..Breakfast wont blow your mind but it has real orange juice and is €8 wont blow the budget... Really good hotel and good value for money... safe area I will be going again........ Mandy from Ireland...

« Good hotel, not a great neighborhood »

This is a good hotel with very polite staff. Employees are ready to help guests even when it's not mandatory. This is a budget to middle-range hotel and staff really exceeds expectations for such a hotel. The hotel itself is ok- nothing spectacular but good enough. Clean and adequate. Nice large balconies, ok beds and furniture. Rooms are ok size (in our opinion) but the bathrooms could be a bit bigger. Not so much of a problem, though. Good breakfast with a fresh orange juice! The only noticeable minus is the neighborhood. It is just not particularly pretty or representative. That being said, it does not matter that much. The location is close enough to the major tourist attractions (just a few metro stops away) and metro itself is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The taxi from Plaka is about 5 euro, which is pretty good. All in all, the location itself is not so bad - it is a good choice for those looking for a more affordable option that is still somewhat close to the attractions. It's just that the street and the neighborhood itself is not particularly pretty or representative. I wouldn't say we felt unsafe but it wasn't the best first impression of Athens for us. Not such a big deal, though - the hotel itself is clean and service is ok so it's worth choosing it. Again, the reception staff is very nice and helpful, which is a huge plus. Another minus - small elevators. Not a big deal but keep this in mind if you have huge bags!

    « It was just O.K »

The hotel was O.K. The rooms were tiny however had everything you needed if you weren't spending long in there. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Although I never saw any trouble and the locals were friendly, the area itself felt a bit dodgy and apart from the archeological museum it's locate far away from attractions.

    « Good location »

You get a very good location for a reasonable price. Walking distance from a bus stop and the city center. The rooms are an ok size and the bathroom is not tiny .over all i do recommend the hotel.....

« Good Hotel, Great Value »

We arrived in Athens in the late evening and walked from the Omonia metro station to the hotel. This wasnt a good experience. The area is badly run down with a lot of dodgy people hanging around. It felt quite dangerous. However the immediate area of the hotel is ok and if you walk a short distance you can find some nice bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is good. Clean and tidy with very helpful staff. The breakfast is good with a good selection. The hotel is located right beside the archaeological museum which is definitely worth a visit. I think that Athens generally is more run down and risky than any other European city I have been in so be warned.

    « A Nice City Hotel »

This is my first stop in Greece and Athens and I had many nice experiences! First, the breakfast was of great variety and you enjoy it in a vivid lounge. Second, the room and its A/C had always served me right. Third, if you don't mind a bit walking the Syntagma area is within relaxing distance. Last but not the least: the staffs were all kind, enthusiastic, warm-hearted and and and. ??

    « Nice hotel »

Nice hotel near of bus station and metro station Victoria. And near from acropolis muussem and sentegma square and shopping. Nice breakfast and coffee. Clean room. Staff is kindly and helpful. The ruff is showing the old Athens

    « Nice »

Good hotel The neighbourhood is poor but makes little difference The hotel is Clean, friendly, helpful. All around experience good and positive. Easy parking in front of the hotel Underground transportation just around the block. 15 minutes walk to town centre (2 stops on the train)

« Good location, but a city location »

The room was large and the bathroom was fine. We had a corner room with a large balcony, and we had a nice view from the roof deck. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The location coming from the museum is a little dingy, but if you are accustomed to cities, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Walkable to interesting cafes and restaurants, and not a bas walk to metro stations. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here, but if the price is competitive for the hotels at which you are looking, it's a good choice.

« Good place to stay in Athens!! »

My second time at the Best Western! Nice location. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet Room was very clean. Comfortable mattress and pillows. Will book this hotel next time and I do recommend it.

« Athens and Skopelos Trip »

The Best Western Museum Hotel was a short drive to the acropolis. It was a short walk from the metro as well. The accommodations were cozy, but high quality. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. I would stay here again.

« No special view but very functional room »

A regular street view most of the time quiet,an unusually very big bathroom for a hotel of this class,a comfortable bed,the breakfast is not really american but has a great variety,an interesting choice for this price and the position.

« One night in Athens »

We were pleasantly surprised by the room: spacy, clean and nice. Close to the center. We arrived by metro and only had a short walk to find the hotel. The akropole was 2 metro stops away. After having a drink in the Plaka area, we found our way back by foot - about 20min (you can also take the metro but we prefered an evening stroll). The hotel clerc was so very helpful giving us all the information on the visits and how to get to the port.

« Proximate to the National Archaeological Museum »

Situated in an otherwise quiet residential district, there is a great deal to recommend the Best Western Museum Hotel: rooms are clean and quiet, the breakfast is more than adequate, and selected staff members are friendly and helpful. There are also a few drawbacks: after breakfast, there is no food service in the hotel and the closest restaurants are a long walk away, there is no currency exchange, and front desk personnel seemed to have little interest in guests. It is also worth noting that our room appeared to have been vacant for a while and had an unappealing smell when we first checked in. While the hotel is some distance from the principal archaeological sites, cabs are cheap in Athens and we found that a 5 or 6 euro ride brought us to the Acropolis and Agora without difficulty.

    « Acropolis visit »

This was a great hotel for a family stay. Excellent value, fabulous breakfast, helpful staff and a reasonable distance from the Acropolis. Neighbourhood is not great but we ordered a Dominoes to be delivered so all good!

    « Great location »

The location was very good, next to the Archeological Museum. An easy walk to the Hop on hop off bus stop, and 5 mins walk from Xarchia with its street full of restaurants. Rooms adequate but not large. Good breakfast with real fresh orange juice pressed in front of you.

« First time in Athens »

All the staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient and the Yimini suite upgrade was an unforgettable touch to our honeymoon, making our first time in Athens completely unforgettable. The locations is pretty central and the views from the roof terrace are a mustsee.

« Bad neighborhood, junkies sleeping a few steps from the entrance of the hotel. Dirty rooms »

Cleannes: the room was very dirty. The carpet on the floor was greasy, full of stains. The shower curtain etc. The hotel its self needs a refresh. Everything in our room looked liked a used '90's hotel. Facilities: we hardly managed to turn on the AC, but after that we couldn't stop or change its settings. 16 degrees, full power. Location: behind National Museum of Archeology, 5-7 minutes walk to Omonoia Station (2 metro stations away from Syntagma, 3 to Acropolis Station). The problem was the the neighborhood itself. Dirty (sure, Athens its self is dirty, but this... ), full of graffiti painted walls, junkies (no, really - 20 meters from the entrance of the hotel you can walk on syringes), human poop etc.

« Pleasing experience at Athens »

Hotel arranged vehicle taxi driver waited for us upon exit from Athens airport. The staffs of Hotel were helpful and did their best to help us enjoy our visit to Athens for the first time. Breakfasts which came with the rates were very good.packed breakfast due to an early start on second morning was great.. I will recommend this hotel without any reservations.

    « Nice and comfortable »

Well located near metro station and easily reacable enjoyed s my stay staff was w very welcoming and helpful it was really easy to take the metro and go to the airport and it came out to be quiet cheap

« Great value in an odd location »

This was our first stop on our European vacation so we ended up spending two nights here. The hotel is located one block away from the main road. There were two adults and two teens in our room which had enough space for us to walk around in. The room and hotel is nothing spectacular but it was the perfect fit for us on the price level and convenience into the main tourist areas of the city. Breakfast was included and they had a good assortment of food and fresh squeezed orange juice, the coffee could've been better. In the evening ask the front desk the direction to the plaza where the locals hang out. You walk a few blocks down a dark street with walls vandalized with graffiti. This is a very happening pedestrian area where the locals hang out and enjoy an evening filled with music and cheer.

« Good value for what you are getting »

We stayed for 3 nights and concluded the following: Pros: decent breakfast, nice/friendly/helpful front staff, perfectly situated if you want to visit the musem or university - it's a 2 minute walk. Cons: VERY sketchy neighbourhood (The first night we stayed in our room as it looked and sounded scary outside. There were people sleeping on matresses in the area next to the hotel and the next day we saw needles strewn on the ground); The hotel is not very close to the subway to take you to central Athens but there are buses closeby. The rooms were a bit dated, not very clean and the bathrooms were REALLY small (and I'm a small person).

« Value for money in the city centre of Athens (Greece) »

Museum is situated at the back of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens in the city centre. It's a 10 minute walk to the Metro station Omonoia. Nice, affordable restaurants around the corner with good food. Very nice and helpful staff, good and elaborate breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. Maybe the interior of the hotel is a bit out-dated, everything worked. Good long beds!

    « Decent stay...not a four or three star »

First ...The location is just right. Its 10 to 15 minutes away from the Metro both red line and the junction at Omonia. The maj attractions are all just one or three metro stops away except port area ofcourse. The staff is wonderful and assists with a smile. The rooms are just about OK. If u are looking for a bit of luxury ..its not the pace; however, that being said we were a family of three and were comfortable in the room. It is definately recommended and would consider it next time around in Athens

    « I enjoyed my stay »

This hotel is close to several locations of interest. The staff was very friendly and took care of my needs. It was also very affordable plus the breakfast was outstanding. Wifi was very fast compared to other hotels and I would recommend this hotel for someone who is in a business trip as well.

    « Really good hotel »

This was such a great place to stay. When I paid for the hotel, I assumed it would be a hostel as it was so cheap- but it was such a pleasant surprise when hotel staff greeted us and carried our luggage upstairs. The room was spacious, and service was lovely. Would recommend.

« Good hotel and great central location »

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago on a trip with my other half. Nice clean hotel, rooms are clean and well presented although not the biggest. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a rooftop garden and a restaurant, neither of which we visited. Only thing to be wary of is the area isn't the greatest-while it's a fab location and only 5-10 mins walk from Omonia, the area borders Exarhia which at night can be a bit dodgy.

« Good value for money in good location »

We had booked 2 economy rooms but in order to keep us next to each other, one room was upgraded free of charge which was a real bonus. We were only there 1 night but ideal for what we needed. The basic room was that but was very clean and comfortable. The upgrade room was bigger with nicer bathroom. Friendly helpful staff and liked the extra touches like free fresh orange juice and mineral water in the bar. Good breakfast. Pretty good location, behind museum but too far to walk to old city and acropolis area but buses close and metro about 10-15 minutes walk. Word of warning - get hotel to book taxi or check fare carefully - our fare via them to old city was less that 4euros (really good valued) and the taxis are very good but we got our first taxi outside museum where he lied to us (said there was protest and would have to take long route and fee 15 euro) there was no protest and he dropped us off nowhere near where we asked after 5 minutes - heyho, you live and learn!

    « Good hotel »

We were offered tea and coffe while waiting for our rooms. Our rooms were economy 2 single beds, but the layout of the room was not in any of the picture on, so we weren't happy of that. The room was in shape of a rectangle and the double beds were one behind each other and not beside eachother( there was no way to put them beside each other because of the shape of the room). So after a discussion with the reception, they were understandable that the information was not shown neither said in any of the pages on They changed the rooms for us and promise they will change this in the website for further on. I want to underline the understanding and the courtesy of the staff at the reception. The hotel was clean, the location is very good as you can walk to many touristic areas , we also got the athens bus tour and we were able to hop in from near out hotel ( museum) first thing in the morning. We were two couples and we loved this hotel for its value and its location. We recommend.

« Recent stay at thsi hotel »

I stayed at this hotel recently to attend meetings in Athens. I was pleasantly surprised by how well run the hotel was. The room was perfect and cleaned well each day and was very comfortable. The staff were very efficient and most helpful and made my stay very unstressful. I would recommend this hotel. It is very reasonable and I would definitely return without any hesitation.

« Great hotel, location - value for money »

The location, next to the Archeological Museum, is great. Very easily accessible by most bus routes and walking distance to the Metro. Rooms are comfortable, the staff is super, very friendly and eager to help - their recommendations on things to do, places to visit were invaluable and we loved our stay

    « Good Overall Value. »

I note some mixed reviews for this Hotel. I found my stay was fine, and all Staff were Helpful and Friendly. Yes there are no Kettles in your Room, but you don't stay indoors when you are in Athens, Breakfast was included in the Room Rate, and within minutes were plenty of places for Drinks, Meals and Snacks. You can get a Bus to the Ferry Port of Rafina, just 6/7 mins away from Hotel, and only cost me under 3 Euros. You can walk into the Old Town in about 30 mins, or take the Metro for access everywhere. The nearest Station is 15 mins away. If you want a more Central Location, you will pay much more. I found this Hotel very acceptable.

« Would never stay here again... »

I stayed here at the beginning of June 2016. Good Points: Rooms kept very clean. Breakfast was half decent, good coffees etc. Lovely view of the Acropolis from the roof. Bad Points: The night manager and breakfast team weren't friendly at all (I'd say rude, but maybe there is a cultural difference here) The plumbing was very bad - when I let the bath out, the water came bubbling out of the drain in the middle of the floor, soaking my clothes, and spurting black bits everywhere - I was not warned about this so you can imagine my horror. There is no kettle/tea/coffee in the room, which is standard in most places, so you're looking at 3 euros for just a cuppa! Beds were rock hard. The air con didn't work properly, which in 38 degree heat is a real disaster! The hotel states free wifi, but it only actually allows you to use Facebook, and is patchy at the best of times.

« Good value decent hotel next to Archaeological Museum »

I've had a look at other comments, and I find it difficult to understand the complaints from some reviewers. We thought that in terms of value for money, this hotel is great. We had a clean room, very comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the museum where we could see brilliant sunsets and green (presumably escaped) parrots swooping about in the mornings. A big plus was the daily change of towels, which is not usual in a hotel of this price, and most welcome. Decent TV and aircon, and shower room not new, but perfectly functioning and clean. The staff are invariably polite, helpful and hardworking. I'm bemused by people's attitude to Athens. We were invariably greeted with politeness and kindness by just about everyone we talked with and have left with a very positive regard for Greek people. Free drinks, free food given in cafes and restaurants as extras. Just lovely. Breakfast seems to be a big deal for reviewers, so if you're looking for your 'English' you'll be disappointed. Instead, it's fresh orange juice, fruit of all kinds, cereal, toast, jams and spreads, cheese, olives, yogurt, good coffee, flaky spinach and cheese pies, frittata, apple pies, and for meat eaters there's also ham and sausages. As for the area, we didn't feel even remotely unsafe, but maybe that's because we're Londoners. It felt far safer than much of London, and yes, there was some evidence of substance use, but heroin users don't tend to be aggressive unlike alcohol fuelled parties of people in the West's minimal anyway. We weren't too fazed by the 'Anarchists' either, that some people seem to be concerned about, as they seemed to be busy running the food bank, talking and playing various musical instruments and drawing and painting. It was quite boring for the riot police who attend their events but it was sunny and they chatted amongst themselves. If you want to go out to eat, turn left out of the hotel, walk to the end of the road and turn left again, walking up the hill. You will find numerous nice places with good food at reasonable prices. You won't find loads of tourists, but ordinary decent Athenians having an evening out. We're saving up for a return visit.

« Not a great location but great staff »

It has to be said that the hotel's location is not the best. I was close by the business venue I had to visit so it was convenient but if you're a tourist, it's not convenient and somewhat intimidating. Having said that, there is a nice little street nearby with decent Greek restaurants and a couple of good bars. But don't go near the local park. Sadly the "crisis" is in full evidence and it is quite scary. All the staff I met were lovely. The reception staff were particularly helpful. I had a tiny room (looking on the floor plan possibly the smallest available) which looked out over an internal courtyard. I was on my own so it was fine but a couple (it was a double) might have struggled. Also it had a connecting door to the next room and I could hear every noise. The bed was super comfy. Lovely light duvet and an excellent bed. The bathroom was basic. A shower tray with a handheld shower which meant you had to turn the shower off for even the most basic ablutions (or else flood the bathroom). Overall a basic hotel which suffers from location but benefits from its staff.

« Poor decision if you want silence »

We have stayed in the hotel in the beginning of May 2016. The people at the reception were very helpful and friendly, the food quality was average (can safely say that there were moldy slices of bread), the room was pretty decent considering the costs. A very disturbing issue was that we were given a room with the balcony surrounded by 2 other walls of the hotel, so no view at all. One night we were very disturbed by the noises from outside (loud music, dog(s) basically howling), and I think this is also due to the position of our room in the hotel - the sound is trapped between the 3 walls outside. Except if you have an emergency and have to SLEEP at this hotel, I wouldn't recommend it at all. They have a lot of stuff to work out before considering this is a 3-star hotel.

« Not good not bad »

I got an offer of 58 BB for single occupancy. Well, it was not really an offer. This should be the price of the hotel for a night in the middle of the week. Breakfast was OK, not bad. People working there were nice (especially people in the breakfast place) I didn't like the carpet in the room and although it is supposed to be recently renovated, i found nothing really thrilling about it. At all. All in all, it is an OK hotel near the city center.

    « Good option »

Good location, not so far from Omonia Metro Station. Indeed, I was there during a strike and I go everywhere by foot. Good breakfast and nice room Very, very helpful personal at the Reception. They were concerned about any request.

« Not the best location »

In the Best Western network you can always trust, but if it is your first time in Athens I don't recommend. The location is complicated for first timers because it's a little far from the metro and the region is not that pleasant. For experienced visitors, it is a very good and affordable option.

« Place for scholars, academics, museum enthusiasts. »

Clean, well lighted, efficient front desk. 7am breakfast more than enough: fresh squeezed orange juice. Noon check out. About 110 yards to the back corner of the National Archeological Museum which is why you should stay here. Also, this place is just about four blocks from the Atitamos , a Greek traditional restaurant and the second reason you should stay here is to eat there. So, fear not; a real place to eat, a place to sleep and an incomparable museum.

« Good Value But Very Thin Walls »

Upon arrival, there was a lot of construction in the lobby which made it difficult to hear the front desk when checking in. The rooms were small and the bathroom even smaller. But I guess this is what you get for a budget hotel. I found the 5-10 minute walk from the Omonia subway station convenient but just be advised if you're carrying large suitcases, the walk might be a bit difficult. I had an early morning trip to Santorini with the Blue Star Ferry, so it was a big plus that Omonia was on the green line which made it a quick train ride to Piraeus. However, what made my stay a bit unpleasant was how thin the room walls were. I had a 14+ hour flight into Athens so I was hoping for a good night sleep. But by 2am, I could hear people talking very loud - probably coming back from the bars that Friday night. Nevertheless, the hotel was a good deal and it was in a cute neighborhood.

    « A really friendly hotel »

We stayed here for 2 nights, first impressions of the area are dubious however once inside the staff are so incredibly helpful and lovely. The area is just fine, we walked the first night to get Souvlaki and the second to the Plaka for food. This is a great comfy hotel really competitively priced. Free parking as well just outside.

    « Great budget hotel »

Enjoyed my stay at hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpfful. Rooms are small, but clean and good enough for a city trip. The rooftop terrace is a big plus. Didn't have the breakfast, so can't comment on that. The area around the hotel is very interesting, but should probably avoided when travelling with kids. Full of bars and good and cheap restaurants, but also with a share of drug users and dealers. The next subay (Omonia) is within walking range, so is the bus stop for a nice trip to Cape Sounio.

    « Value for money »

I booked through for a very good price. I was pleasantly surprised by their orange juice machine which was free to use all the time. Breakfast was good and so was the room. I included a visit to the biggest museum in Greece, the National Archeological Museum, which is next door, and the Acropolis Museum, which is very near. Staff was friendly.

« Great staff, good location »

This hotel met our needs as far as location goes. It's not exactly near by the major sites in Athens, but most are within a 20-30 minute walk. The staff were so helpful and gracious with us. We had several requests during our stay and they met each one with a great attitude that made us feel welcome. The room was clean and the bathroom was huge! The only draw back for us was the firmness of the beds. There were four of us in the room. One of the beds was a sofa converted to a twin bed. The other was a cot with a 3 inch mattress on it. The remaining "main" bed was two twins pushed together. All were very firm to the point of being hard. I will say that the staff and the price made up for the beds though. Overall, good hotel.

« Not what I expected from Best Western »

The hotel on the whole is OK. But the room was far below my expectations. We had a triple room 2 ad + 1 ch, so we had a folding bed in the center of the room (low standard) which left no space at all. Furthermore it appeared that the child's bed is right in front of the air conditioner and we had either to switch it off which was undesirable as it was hot in the room or take the child to our bed (which was not very big). So none of us felt comfortable during the night. We couldn't change the room because we checked in around midnight. The room had a balcony but the one we had faced the opposite wall with no street view at all. The breakfast was average with not enough seats. On the second day we decided to skip the hotel breakfast and to go a local cafe for a really good coffee. During the day time the area is not bad and seems quite safe. You can reach the very center in 15-20 minutes on foot. Though I would not dare walking there late at night. There is a good open air restaurant at the museum square near the hotel. So if you are lucky to get the right room it is not a bad choice.

    « Great budget choice »

I had a great stay here. The hotel is a little bit out of the town centre (probably a 15 minute walk) but it is a quiet area with lots of lovely coffee shops and restaurants nearby. The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff were friendly.

    « comfortable Hotel »

Had 4 night bed and breakfast stay. Good size rooms, cleaned everyday, reception staff is very knowledgeable and give correct advice. Breakfast is the same everyday but it is fine. ( eat as much you can ) Easy access to all the attraction. Rooms are sound proof. No instructions how to obtain wi fi access.

    « Good »

A good and comfortable hotel for a sort stay. If you like to be where the action happens this is not the right place, it is quite a long walk to the nearest tube station, the area looks quite dodgy but don't worry that's Athens, you are probably safe. The breakfast needs some improvement, the good thing about it is the fresh orange juice. Overall a good choice for what you pay. Please improve the roof top!!!

« Clean, cheap for family »

Had a couple of nights here with my family, (2 teenagers). Good sized rooms with big bathrooms. Clean and comfortable. Payed for breakfast which had a large choice. Best thing was the fresh orange juice. The staff were friendly and helpful. 10min walk to the subway. We had a car and it's free to park. Don't be put off by the exterior, which is a bit grim.

    « thank you e greetings from Italy :) »

hello, I'm Loredana and I came back to Italy after being in your hotel in Athens on Saturday, and until thursady. See the acropolis for me was an indescivibile show, I study ancient greek and archeology, and never was there . I want to thank you were really very kind, to stay in Athens thanks to you was very pleasant; I would like to thank the person who was on duty on Sunday afternoon (I can not remember the name, unfortunately) with his help I find an open pharmacy and I bought medicine for my friend that was sick (almost fortunately); many greetings to the person who is usually at the bar, very polite and friendly. I will return to Athens surely as study that ancient world and certainly in your hotel that I recommend without doubt Best wishes and thanks again for everything Loredana

    « Very good location »

The location is perfect, everything is close. The Acropolis is just 15 minutes walking from hotel. The rooms are clean, neat, but four bads in one room isn't ok, which one extra. Also, the bathroom is great, very comfortable and clean. Next time, I will be in Your hotel.

« Great place to stay »

First of all. The location of this hotel is good. It is located behind the National archaeological museum. The main street towards Omonia square is near by. If you don't want to walk, the is the stop of hop on/off bus. The traffic noice didn't bother us. We had breakfast payed, and it wasn't adisappoinment. You find coffee, juice, fruits Greek youghurt, bread, eggs etc.. Thank you lady of the restaurant :-) - she was also very polite. The men in the lobby were very friendly and gave us an excellent advice to visit a nearby taverna where a group of local musicians played 3½ hours without any break rembetika (local music) - we recommend The rooms were ok. If you only need a place to sleep and have a shower, this is ok. The rooms were cleaned daily. In this hotel you feel welcomed. Next time we will choose this hotel again...

    « Free breakfast? »

We booked this hotel as the location was convenient to where we needed to be. The area wasn't the best but once inside the hotel was great. Photographs and previous reviews looked great. We couldn't fault our room except for no kettle for a needy cuppa! Hair dryer was a little strange and didn't really dry! Staff were extremely professional and helpful. On trip advisor It stated free breakfast when booking this hotel... when we confirmed with the hotel they said that on our particular tariff this wasn't the case. Don't state on TripAdvisor that free breakfast is included when it clearly isn't! !

« Quiet, Safe but still easily within reach of the sites, Perfect »

It is very rare I give an excellent, see my other reviews. I have slammed a 5* in Copenhagen for instance. Having booked late the previous day I was worried that reception would not be ready but they had all my details plus a free glass of orange juice. They carried the bags up not waiting around nor expecting a tip. The room was clean and had everything you need, TV, shower, towels, comfy bed, storage. Above all quietness, I am a really light sleeper and was expecting to suffer in the city. However the room had very good double glassed doors and shutters that closed tight plus decent thick walls and flooring between rooms. The Wifi is the best in any hotel I have stayed in and you can get a free print out of your boarding pass. On the last day you wander around the Archaeological Museum half an hour before having to leave so that you don't waste any time on the holiday. The walk to the nearby cheap Metro at Omnia is really 5 mins and gets you to the centre in a couple of stops. All the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Downsides, just to prove this isn't a fake review. The room had no hairdryer. The TV had no English channels. CNN or BBC Worldwide would be nice to catch the weather. The Greek plumbing and Graffiti nearby, albeit the same story for all of Athens. The nearby park is has many homeless so you do hear a few shouts in the early evening. The rooftop garden is a joke. The walk to Omina Metro is a bit scary at night, it is better to have early starts and get back early in the evening, Be careful to remember which of the 8 roads that kind of join at the square at Omnia is the correct one as they look different at night. You WILL get confused.

    « Amazing Hotel ! »

Location is a bit dodgy, but the value of the hotel is great. It was not easy to find the hotel from the station, Omnia because we didn't have google map. As soon as we arrived the hotel, they welcomed us and gave us nice orange juice. Our room was very spacious and cozy. You usually cannot get such nice quality of the hotel at the price. The staff also helped us ordering food at the reception when we were tired. Very kind and great value.

« Conveniently located and inexpensive »

My family and I stayed at this quaint little hotel while staying in Athens the summer of 2015. While not luxurious, the rooms are comfortable and the service is very good. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in pointing out the best places to see in Athens and we're always quick to find us a cab to get there. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the National Archaeological Museum. Ti is also inexpensive and has a great breakfast buffet which is included in the price!

« Great value for the great city break! :) »

Athens is a great city I keep coming back to, and this hotel is always the first one I check availability of. Good location- close to the museum and lots of small bars and restaurants near by, just a few minutes walk from Omonia metro station and not more than 30 mins walk from all the major tourist destinations in this city. Hotel stuff was more than helpful and the rooms were nice and clean... only thing missing was the parking lot, but free parking can be found in the surrounding streets and you won't be needing a car getting around the city anyhow.

    « Perfect location »

I was doing some research into a potential downtown water treatment project and could have stayed anywhere in the area but since I love museums, I chose this location. Despite the fact that public transportation was not operating due to the strike on Thursday, the location was centrally located so that I managed to salvage my business day by walking. I managed to get an excellent hour visit to the Archaeological Museum before leaving on Friday and considered this a successful initial visit to Athens.

« Great people, great service, great country!!! »

I was booked in to Best Western Museum Hotel by Travel Zone who so efficiently and competently arranged my whole visit to Greece. I was extremely I impressed by each and every person I dealt with in Greece, all were all friendly and helpful. The staff of the hotel, from the reception to the kitchen staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. My accomodation was beautifully clean and prepared. The breakfasts served daily were excellent, fresh and ready every morning. A variety to suit each palate was available. On my first morning in Athens, I was going on a tour of the city and an icy cold front had arrived in the city the evening before. As my luggage had been mislaid by the airline, I did not have a warm jacket/coat to wear out that day and the gentleman at the reception desk, of his own accord, offered me a coat and an umbrella to use as I was leaving the hotel, asking me to just return it when I got back later that day. I could not believe the thoughtfulness and kindness of the man, who did not even know me. This action was far and beyond the hospitality they were giving me. Excellent service!!!

« Great service, great price »

We spent 3 weeks here, it is very affordable. The staff are extremely helpful and nice. Shower is small, and the bed isn't very comfortable. Balcony has a lovely view. Laundry is not on sight, they send out your clothes. Continental breakfast is pretty good, spinach pie, toast, fresh bread, feta cheese, Greek yogurt, etc. Overall really satisfied especially for the price and he highlight of the hotel is the helpful staff.

« Very surprised and very impressed »

I wanted to find a hotel in the center of Athens that was safe from the immigrants that have flooded the city. During my search I found this hotel. I know the Best Western name so that made me comfortable. The price, gave me doubts. The reason is it was VERY CHEAP! I decided to check it out and am glad I did! The hotel is comfortable, great location, safe, rooftop view of the Acropolis, and an amazing price! I will stay here again and can't recommend it enough for individuals, couples or families.

    « Excellent Customer Service »

I spent my first time in Greece at this hotel. The hotel was nothing extraodinary as far as the looks and amenities. The breakfast was a typical European style breakfast (as an American I missed bacon, waffles and sausages...sighs) anyway I only really ate bread and fruit (my preference). Our room was clean and quiet, very comfortable. The location is right near the Polytechnic so we were able to walk to the metro (if you are not from a city such as NY or DC then maybe the environment will scare you). The best part about this hotel was the staff! From the moment we walked in everyone was polite and very helpful. They provided us maps and documented very detailed directions almost everyday! They also didn't try to scam us with expensive tours and whatnot they always gave us the cheapest alternatives warning us not to waste money.

    « Business Trip »

Great location, stayed for two nights. Hotel was close to local attractions and had all we needed. great breakfast selection! Room were clean and tidy but were quite basic. Bathroom was a good size and had all the complimentary items that one needs!

« Good hotel, great value for money, friendly & helpful staff - will happily come back »

I stayed at the Best Western with a group of friends at the end of November. Having read some of the TripAdvisor reviews beforehand, I was a little concerned about the area surrounding the hotel. This proved totally unnecessary. Whilst perhaps not in the most upmarket or trendy part of town, the area felt completely safe and, unlike more touristy places, it was lovely and quiet at night. We were happy to walk around and explore local restaurants and bars in the evening, of which there are plenty in easy walking distance. It's a fairly easy walk to the nearest train station, or you can just walk to most places of interest in 15-20 minutes (including the Acropolis) The hotel itself is very clean and welcoming, rooms are comfortable and adequately modern. Room prices seemed good value for money - it's mid market, neither a cheap budge place nor a luxury palace. The bathrooms are a little on the small side perhaps, but this wasn't really an issue. But what makes this hotel (the same can probably be said for the entire city, and country!) is the friendly and welcoming people. Staff were happy to help and advise wherever they could - a quality of service that I would normally expect from a smaller independent hotel, rather than a large chain outlet. This includes the guys at reception, the barman, even the cleaner. Greek people are exceptionally friendly and a lot of people seem genuinely happy to see tourists returning to Athens. Thumbs up, I'll happily come and stay again!

    « Great stay »

I recently had opportunity to stay at this Hotel for a few days in November. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. It was a great breakfast that was a cross section between what I was used to in North America and the Greek palette. Because I was on a work trip and didn't have an office, there was a room available just off the main lobby that our team used to get work done. This hotel is centrally located within walking distance of the city centre, eating establishments, historic sites and transit. All in all, it was a great place to stay. There is also a great view of the Parthenon from the roof.

« For the impecunious. I'd stay there again. »

Clean, friendly helpful staff. Basic but adequate modern facilities. Useful location. Walkable and Metro distance for exploring Athens. All new to me. Quite a discovery. Much better on the inside that the outside appearance might suggest.

« perfect place for your stay in Athens »

Very nice place, perfect location, good spacious rooms, clean and comfortable! I am visiting every time, I travel to Athens , because I thing there is no better conditions for this rate ! I will recommend to every one !

    « Nice, clean, simple. »

I already knew the quality of the best western hotels, and this hotel brings the same expected clean, nice, simple quality you wish for. Nice staff, clean, smaller room, good AC unit. Nothing to complain about, really. Location was a bit far from the metro, but you just need to walk about 5-10 minutes to reach it.

« Very good hotel in Athens conveniently located for tourists »

I stayed here with my family for a day in November 2015 and overall had a very good experience. The room was very clean and comfortable, big enough for the three of us. In general the hotel was clean and had a very good ambience. The staff were extremely friendly and even gave us an extended check out in spite of being full! It is just behind the Archaeological Museum and a short walk from Omonia metro station so getting around the city should not be a problem. On the down side the road leading to the hotel behind the museum is very lonely and dingy at night but even this wasn't a problem, even the stray dogs out there don't bother you. But you can walk around the front of the museum through a busy road and reach the hotel. All in all a great experience and would recommend this hotel to travelers!

« Hotel review, with panoramic images of Athens »

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, en route to the Greek island of Agistri. The hotel is fairly centrally located, about a 10 minute walk from Omonia Metro station, and very close to Athens museum. It is a 'practical' hotel, located in a side street, but fine if all you require is reasonable accommodation. It has free wifi and internet access - which proved very useful to us after my wallet was stolen on the Athens Metro! The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. East access to most Athens tourist locations.

« Convenient location near great outdoor eateries. »

We stayed here twice at each end of a holiday in the Greek Islands. The hotel is in a convenient location in a one-way street near the Archeological Museum and just around the corner from the central square of the Exarchia district where there are plenty of great inexpensive restaurants. It was a 20 minute walk from the airport bus terminus at Syntagma Square and a 40 minute walk to The Acropolos. Rooms are a little tired but comfortable. On the second stay we were upgraded to a suite on the 7th floor with a glimpse of The Acropolis from the balcony. The substantial breakfast was excellent value.

    « Lovely stay »

Great views from the rooftop in the evenings. Delicious buffet breakfasts. Free OJ and ice water. Wi-fi and computer center. Convenient location to great restaurants in Exarchia district. Super helpful staff. Right next to Archeaological Museum. Was a perfect stay for our large family of 6 - two rooms for a great price!

« Good value for money but a lingering bad odor can ruin your stay. »

Single room was ok for its budget price, problem was that although it was very clean there was a very bad odor which I don't know if it was from the old shabby moquette or the bathroom. When I opened the windows it was better but there was too much noise outside to leave them open all the time. Location is very central and staff nice and helpful.

« Can't read the writing on the wall »

This cute, clean hotel is located on a short one-way street. The pedestrian walkway that takes you out to one of the main streets - Oktovriou- to catch buses or walk to the subway is littered with used syringes, and there were old men sleeping on the benches. It's too bad because it is a cute little park beside 2 museums and the Polytechnic university. There were young people, I assume students, hanging out on the street to the south, the alternate route to the main street toward the subway. After dark, I did not feel comfortable walking by myself, so took a taxi from the main square. Fortunately, cabs are not expensive. The walls and the garage-door fronts that come down after businesses close were littered with graffiti, and most of it is not art, just angry-looking scrawling. I couldn't read the writing on the walls. The service was very good and friendly. The breakfast was adequate with a selection of bread, cold cuts, cheese, cereal, hardboiled eggs, spinach and cheese pie, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt and tea, coffee, and juices. The room was adequate, with a very comfortable, though small, bed. The bathroom is small with a very small shower. You will feel the curtain on your wet back as you lather up. There was no remote control for the air conditioner, so you have to ask for it. I found the hotel setting to be too cold. The price is good and once you get out to the main street, there are nice stores out of the high-touristy shopping areas. The guide books describes the area as Edgy, so if you don't mind that, it is worth a stay. I will likely try a new spot if I'm lucky enough to get back to Athens, which is DEFINITELY worth a 2nd visit!

« Comfortable stay and good service »

I stayed here for a few days as a base to explore Athens and had a really good stay. The location is quite good, about 5-10 minutes walk to the subway and the hotel is close to many local cost-friendly restaurants and grocers. There is a street nearby close to the university that you should avoid, many syringes and people shooting up in broad daylight though (ask the hotel where to avoid). The room was very comfortable and I had a few nights of really good, uninterrupted sleep. The service was sensational, front desk reception was always willing to assist in providing directions. The free wifi was also free and very reliable with an okay speed (speed test was 17MB/1MB). I would also recommend the breakfast - plenty of options including toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, cooked breakfasts, etc). There is a bar and plenty of seating inside, as well as a business centre downstairs. Take advantage of the rooftop area as well - something I found was under utilised by many other guests - you get a good vantage point of the area as well as a good view of the Acropolis. Overall if I was to return to Athens, I would most certainly return here.

« A nice, quiet and convenient Hotel »

This is a quiet, clean, and convenient hotel in the middle of Athens. The help of the staff to locate my destinations and use public transportation was particularly appreciated. The only drawback was the substandard internet connection. The hotel has no restaurant but there are many in the immediate surroundings.

« Good value for the price. »

This is a good value hotel. I chose it because of it's proximity to the hop on hop off bus stop and museum. The staff was excellent. My particular room smelled like fresh paint. There could have been much worse smells, so I did not request another room. Room came with wifi. The bed was comfortable. I would book this hotel again without hesitation.

« Stop over to the Islands »

Stayed one night , before onward journey to Greek Island , got free upgrade , room large and clean , modern bathroom , lots of soap ,shampoos, shower gel , comfy bed , friendly , helpful staff . Breakfast was €6 , continental style , good choice and variety . Area a bit scruffy , lots of grafitti ! Such a shame as it ruins the city

    « Nice Hotel »

Lovely room with all you need comfy bed good air con great bathroom lovely towels. Clean. Good continental breakfast. No view but what more do you need. Handy for seeing the sites and not expensive for taxi. €20 to ferry €5 to Plakka district Fantastic view from the rooftop all the way round Athens.

    « Last minute find »

Went searching online for a budget hotel in Athens after finding our Airbnb inter city booked accommodation unsuitable. Caught a cab for €7 to this hotel. A little out of the way but no problems with us as we like to walk. The room was clean the bathroom tiny and made up daily. Restaurants are few so if you are staying for some time suggest something closer in. We were in Athens for three days. The area looks dodgy with graffiti everywhere but we had no problems at night whatsoever. Staff on the front desk were very helpful. The National Archeological Museum which is only 5 mins walk away is a must visit.
