    « Worst Western »

First, the hotel says they are in Keramikos 200 meters from the metro but if you go to that stop it's a 2 km walk to the hotel! Then if you don't mind walking through streets filled with drug addicts or prostitutes you're getting closer. Next you walk through garbage that the drug addicts have thrown all over and have to navigate the pools of urine in the streets. Then you get to the hotel. In the rooms you'll make friends because the walls are so thin you hear everything. If you want coffee or tea, too bad. The rooms have no amenities. It does have a heater/air conditioner but there is no control so it did no good! Breakfast is extra, or at least they tried to charge me more! My suggestion, find someplace else!

« Descent hotel in a central location »

The hotel is located in the center of Athens close to the main touristic sites. The neighborhood is more than unpleasant full of gypsies and immigrants. The personel on the reception is exceptional! They are really kind and helpful, example of excellence, especially Christos!

    « Budget central hotel. »

The location is central but in a shady part of town. The staff were very helpful and the air conditioned room was a decent size although not particularly well sound proofed. The bathroom was small but everything worked OK. The lifts were tiny and had a mind of their own and the free wifi was reliable but very slow.

    « Terrible location »

Terrible terrible location. Men loitering about. We walked back to the hotel around 4pm and the surrounding area was very yncomfortable for walking due to everyone staring. Lots of polis about doing random bag checks of these questionable men. The room was tiny. Could hardly move between beds. Bathroom was designed for tiny liliputians. No room to move. Window to bathroom was tiny. No kettle. Tv was too small. Very noisy.

    « Misleading.. »

We stayed at Best Westerns in the US and thought the hotel chain is acceptable. So we booked for 4 nights in Oct. Upon entering the hotel, there is a big poster about the roof top terrace and were excited to check out the view at night. First of all, staffs were all nice, friendly and helpful. The location is questionable as there were constant loud noises from the streets, from screaming, talking, and drilling as 'early' as 2 am. The area is shady and didn't feel safe. Yes, we were on the 7th floor but we can still hear the outside noises very well. Then, the walls are paper thin as we heard the toilet flushing, hair drying, talking on the phone from next door neighbors. The room was very small but had a balcony. The bathroom is very small and the commode is next to the sink where I had to sit 'sideway'. I am a slim average height female so you can imagine the tight quarter. Then the shower curtain was too short that the bathroom was flooded after showering. The shower stall wasn't leveled so there was constantly a puddle of water. You have to ask the reception for a key to the safe deposit box. Also, there's not any kettle in the room but you can ask for one without charge. The buffet breakfast was 6 euro but the items were appealing, so we didn't eat there. My suggestion is to stay there if you are on a low budget, and a heavy sleeper, and do not plan late night activities as walking through back & dark alleys while lots of men were smoking and watching you wasn't pleasant at all... Gladly we weren't harassed but who knows since we didn't understand the language. The area is mainly dominated by South Asians.

    « Is there a negative rating? »

Nestled in what looks like a picturesque section of hell. The My Athens Hotel, by BEST WESTERN is the best of... nothing really. Unfortunate, for the guy who works there, though a little "creepy", seemed like he had a winning attitude. The My Athens Hotel some how found a permanent home on Best Westerns, naughty list and never made it off. The room was half the size of a university dorm room and there was literally a window in the bathroom that opened up to the blackest portion of a nightmare. You had a few options in the bathroom: toilet, shower, or enter the abyss. Maybe, I'm being hard on the hotel. But, having been raised in Athens, I kind of have an idea of where to and where to not go. And, that place is definitely straight out of a horror film.

    « Very good »

Capable and gentle staff, good, clean hotel and beautiful rooms!! The location not so beautiful but nearby the center so pretty close to the metro and bus station. Overall a valid choice of hotel in Athens.

Situated about 30 mins walk from Syntagma Square, the hotel is located in the Arabic quarter. We had taken a taxi (fixed price of €38) from the airport; recommended if you arrive late at night. The taxi driver and the hotel reception both told us the area was safe. Having spent 5 years in and around the Middle East I know that the sight of large groups of men doing nothing but smoking is commonplace but I can understand how it may be somewhat off putting. My 2 female companions were happy to walk from the hotel to the main street (about 50m) and did so several times both day and night without incident. The reception staff were helpful and friendly and the room was basic but clean. There was a breakfast option for €6 which looked fine but we elected for coffee at Paul near the centre which I will review elsewhere.

    « Nice »

The Pros: For the price you pay you get a comfy bed and a clean room. Great people at the recption and staff. ALL OF THEM ARE BETTER THAN EACH OTHER. EVERYONE IS EXTREMELY KIND AND HELPFUL. I would return there again. The cons: Area at night not very nice but NOT dangerous. Small bathroom but hey Im a big guy Overall: Will repeat again

    « Terrible , scary , awful . »

This hotel is terribly located . We have visited towns and cities around the world and this was the scariest neighborhood . To be honest my husband stayed here with my Fatherinlaw and he came back with the worst reviews . There were people in the street injecting them selfs in broad daylight , they were walking and trying to avoid syringes from the pavement , the smell of urine was really bad in the street and they were scared to walk out when the sun went down , they were there on a Saturday night and it was really loud , the window had Barbwire on the outside and the taxi driver that took them from the airport warned them to be careful because the area was not safe and filled with drug addicts.. There is graffiti on the walls and many shops closed down , the hotel it self was clean if it makes any different and the staff was friendly .. If your with children just look for something else ..

    « Very simple hotel »

I booked this hotel because I had half a day until my late flight. It was ok for that. Room was simple and clean. However, I would not recommend in case you are there to explore the city. The location is a bit dodgy, even the taxi driver advised me not to walk around that area alone.

    « Nice accommodation »

The staff is friendly and very kind. The terrace located at 8th floor has a great view of Acropolis and other atractions. The terrace used to be closed at 1pm but the security guy understood that we arrived late in the night and he stayed a little bit longer. The staff is able to recommend you accessible priced markets and another atractions. Also, the rooms have a nice view, despite of lack of space in the room and in the bathroom, but at this price is the best you can get.

    « Holiday »

The hotel is a bit hard to find. The taxi driver had trouble spotting it. It is down a small narrow street. It's about a 5 minute walk to the square where you can catch the hop on/off bus so the location is ok. The room is small and there was no refrigerator. It was clean and ok if you just need a room for a short time. You can see the Acropolis from the seating area on the roof.

« Smallest hotel room ever! »

I was very surprised pulling up to this hotel. The area is not safe and it looks very dirty. The staff is wonderful but not wonderful enough to overlook the flaws in the hotel. We had a 3 person room. It was sooo small. We could only open once piece of luggage at a time. The bathroom is also small. If you make too many soap suds in the sink, the suds will come through the pipe in the floor... Yea... I know. Ridiculous! Has 2 English channels. A balcony. Intermittent wi-fi. The couch bed is so hard and uncomfortable. The train is a short walking distance from the hotel. There is a great restaurant called Alexander the Great 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel. This was the best thing about staying at this hotel. Again the staff is so nice & helpful.

« Middle class hotel in a very unsafe area. »

During our Visit , i don't feel safe at all , neigborhood seems very dangerous and many drug addicted guys got high during a day time. Our room was so small, bed was not comfortable. Very friendly front staffs and polite and kind breakfast host. We were happy with the service. Facilities are OK for The price. I will not return to this hotel again. Not recommended

« Good hotel for a few nights but not good location »

The room was clean, spacious and it looked renovated. I asked for a room in the highest floor and we did not hear any noise. We slept well. The price of the hotel was very good. The hotel is very close to Omonoia square so you have easy access to the underground. BUT it is in a little street that is in a bad state. I would never walk around these little streets alone. Nothing happened to us but I felt very unsafe. The room had air condition but there was no remote control for the air condition. There was only a switch on the wall. So we could not change the temperature or the force of the fan. We could only switch it on and off. Make sure you do not leave the windows open after the sunset because many mosquitos can come in the room. The hotel has no parking but it was easy to park very close to the hotel.

    « Good for value »

It is close to metro station and walk distance to city centre. aircondition works fine and the hotel is clean. Would be better if they include breakfast into the price but not a big deal. There are some pattiseries close to the square which are very nice for breakfast.

« Good Value for Money »

We stayed for two nights. The hotel is nice from the inside; tidy, clean, with a good room service. The receptionists were all very friendly and helpful; we were given a voucher for the Blue tour bus which saved us 6 euros each for the one-day tour. The thing we did not like was the neighbourhood, no one had bothered us, but we felt unsafe walking at night. overall good hotel, but if you can afford a hotel closer to the centre then go for it.

« Good value, not the best location. »

The location of this hotel maybe not the best in Athens. However the room is clean and nice, and the view from the roof is beautiful. The breakfast is okay, nothing special. The staff is friendly and helpful.

« Good bugget hotel "Bad location" »

If it were not for the drug infested neighbourhood this would be a great location . Close to centre good service . Small rooms . And slow lift. Has a good roof top view that was the best part of the stay.

« Terrible, dont go there »

we stayed last week in that hotel for one night, and the hotel itself is not that bad, but the location is horrible you will feel u r in Bangladesh surrounded by drug dealers and dirty area, we actually felt sick of that area, no good restaurants near by no decent shops .nothing but rubbish, moreover its very hard to find that hotel. its about 20mins from city center tho, all in all very bad experience. p.s do not believe the reviews on this hotel on

« Budget accommodation in very central location »

I wanted somewhere really central in Athens. I walk a lot and from here I walked to Syntagma Square - Trams buses here - go to Voulas - get off @ Kalaki beach really lovely. Also I walked to Acropolis and right up to Alexandrou Ave. Near Omonio subway. Not the greatest hotel I have ever stayed in but clean, central and very reasonably priced.

    « Not bad-horrible location »

Stayed for two nights. Hotel not bad, rooms small but tidy. Was easy to reach city center by walking as it is just 15-20 min, however location of the hotel is not safe even day time. Was quite noisy night time as walls are very thin and you can hear all the noise from the other guest. Would not recommend and not stay again.

    « Great hotel - horrible location »

This hotel is clean, nice, and well kept. The elevator, just large enough for three people, is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. The room is small, but that is to be expected and isn't a problem for a couple. What is a problem is the neighbourhood. I'm not sure if it's actually dangerous, but the people walking around at night seem shady (and this isn't my first rodeo). I would say if you plan to stay out late, this hotel isn't for you. If you're here to see the sights during the day, it should be fine.

    « average hotel »

The hotel is ok. The area around the hotel seems dangerous and unsafe. I can say that it is not true. Of course it is full of shops open till alte in the night, lots of rubbish left ont he floor but nothing happened during my stay.

« COmfortable and good service but not a wonderful area »

First impression when we arrived near the hotel was not pleasant but the hotel and its service are OK. I was happy with the service and staff are really helpful especially the reception guy. The reception gut helped as a lot with regards information to visit Athens. If I had to re visit Athens I will try this Hotel.

« Comfortable but not a great area »

We stayed at the Best Western for two nights after landing in Athens, before heading to the Islands. It's around a 40 minute journey from the airport. The hotel itself is comfortable enough - small rooms, but it's unlikely that you'll be spending a lot of time in them! The roof top garden was a lovely place to relax and has great sweeping views of Athens. The staff were lovely & full of helpful advice. The breakfast was simple but sufficient. The hotel is around a 20 minute walk to the base of the Acropolis and the Plaka. I would, however, reconsider before staying here again. The area didn't feel 'great' and I certainly didn't feel overly safe walking down the street by myself. It was only a 5-10 minute walk before you were on main roads and on your way to the main part of town but we saw a fair bit of dodgy stuff in those ten minutes. So - depending on the purpose of your stay - it's a great 'cheap' option for a hotel, but consider the area and who you are travelling with before booking.

« Questionable location but great value for money. »

Area outside hotel predominately male dominated and being a party of 6 females we were very conscious of this fact. We did not however encounter any issues. Staff at the hotel were superb, rooms were well appointed and the breakfast was excellent. Slight problem with the lack of sound proofing in rooms. Conversations both in corridor and adjacent rooms could be clearly heard. Luckily all was quiet during the night but there would have been no chance of a lie in should I have wished to have one.

« Nicely surprised and satisfied »

I came from Athens yesterday where I spent 3 nights in My Athens Hotel. First of all, I have to say that I was quite worried after reading some references here which described neighbourhood of the hotel in the most pesimistic and dark way (like prostitutes, drug users, syringes and lots of intimidating men). Do not trust these references! I have to only admit that the neighbourhood is not the cleanest one. Nothing horrible happened to us, I did not see any the mentioned things, nobody intimidated us (even during the night) or annoyed us, and I can say that that I was really pleasantly surprised. Hotel is clean, nice and cosy, staff is extremely helpful and nice. I would recommend everyone to stay!

    « Great place »

Idealy localed the breakfast is great and cheap. Beautiful terrasse on the 9th floor. Room is spacious. Very friendly and great help for touriste. A little loud though and the neighbourhood isnt the best at night

    « Nice hotel »

We staid in this hotel few weeks and we were pleased at the beginning, but day by day the cleaning service was worst and worst. The hotel is ok for few day staying, but if you plan to stay more weeks better avoid it as they don't care too much to clean the room

« very nice and helpful personnel »

good location, close to the Omonia square, and relatively close to Gazi district with night clubs and bars. extremely nice personnel. pleasent rooftop terrace with a nice view on Athens - perfect for late evening dinner. neibhourhood a bit up-and-coming.

    « Vacation »

Very nice hotel and hotel staff. Very close to the center and super clean. I choose this hotel each time I go to Athens and I don't have regrets. In less than 5 minutes you are at the subway station. From the balcony I had a great view to the Acropolis.

    « Friendly and comfortable »

We have just enjoyed a three day break at My Athens. The hotel may not be in the best area but it was clean and comfortable; the staff were excellent. Our rooms were cleaned daily, the buffet breakfast was good value for 6 euro and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. There is no bar but a bottle of wine (from the local supermarket) can be shared on the rooftop terrace with excellent views. Whilst the area is not the most affluent, we did not have any problems day or nighttime and it is near to a good metro link for all main sightseeing sites.

    « City Break »

When we arrived we were shocked at the location dark dingy street with a lot of drug users and prostitution. On entering the hotel we were pleasantly surprised as it was lovely and the staff were excellent. The room wasn't large but spotless with a huge balcony and a magnificent view from the roof garden. During the day outside was absolutely fine so we opted for a taxi back at night well worth the 10 euro this included the tip

    « Quality »

I intended to stay one night at the first but offered 30 Euros per night and extended my stay for one week but was told on next day that have to pay 40 Today i refered to Best Western at Pythagorion and rate was offered 40 euros breakfast included but location is much better . My room is cold , floor is chilly, bathroom is small with little area for sgower , shower curtain is not suitable

« Comfortable hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. »

This was a great hotel right in the heart of Athens. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and will give you all the information you need about Athens. Walking distance to the Acropolis and all other great historical sites and also walking distance to the central markets. There is a great 360 degree view from the top floor of the hotel with a nice covered outdoor setting for kicking back drinking wine/beers and looking out over the city. There is a really good restaurant called 'Alexander the Great' 2 mins walk away from the hotel. Omonia metro station is about a 4 minute walk from the hotel which will connect you to the airport via train.

« A good hotel in the centre of Athens »

Centre of Athens, good service, the room is good, very good prize. The room is in 7th floor, as result, it was very nice to look at the city. However, I didn't get any electric kettle as I asked before.

« Cheap and not so cheerful. »

We stayed at this hotel in Room 501 for the New Year. The room is basic and a bit sad with no real effort put into it. A patterned bedspread and a colourful print on the wall would improve the room enormously. The view outside is very depressing indeed so a splash of colour inside could compensate for that perhaps. Reception are efficient and knowledgeable as you would expect and the breakfast lady is a lovely cheerful sight upon entering the dining room. Breakfast is basic, toast, jams, fruit etc. A croissant or pastries would make it more worth your extra 5 euro. The hotel is within walking distance of the metro, Omonia, Plaka and Gazi and of course if you would rather not walk, you can easily hail one of the many cheap and plentiful yellow taxis. Usually I like to write positive reviews so not to put you off, but I find it hard to show much enthusiasm for this hotel.

    « a very honest choise »

Reading some of previous comments concerning the My Athens hotel , we were a bit sceptic to book there. As it was a crowded weekend for Athens and the price of the hotel seemed relatively fair, we decided to take the "risk". We booked at MyAthens hotel. The hotel itself is very " fresh" . The advantage of this hotel is it staff, specially the people at the reception . Even when one of us faced a medical problem ,we were provided the best possible assistance and attention. The neighbourhood is not the best in Athens but we did not felt at risk at any time. The hotel defenitely is a value for money place.

« Not safe for families or women... »

Let me say firstly that the staff were very friendly and helpful, top marks there. As for the area, oh dear...Its not safe for women alone or in a group or young children. Loads of migrants and vagrants hanging around all day and all night usually talking at the top of their voices well into the night. Get a room on the top floor if possible its that noisy. We were on the 2nd and had to move to the 7th. The hotel is cheap so very basic amenities, beds are ok but the showers in both our rooms were awful, so tiny as to be near useless. For breakfast, we went to Omnia sq where there are many cafes and bakeries, much cheaper than the hotel. We never stayed out late throughout our holiday, this entire area up to the sq is full of migrants. Be careful!

    « bad neighborhood »

The hotel price is very good. The room is tiny, however, it is okay for just sleeping. Walking distance to the historical Athens. But very bad neighborhood. In the dark, walking around the hotel seems not safe.

« Clean, convenient, great service »

The neighborhood which this hotel is in gets a bad rep but my husband and I honestly did not feel any danger when we stayed here for 5 days. There were a lot of shops, convenience stores and bakeries, with locals doing their shopping - nothing different from any other city. The location was so convenient that we didn't even have to take the metro and could comfortably reach the Acropolis and shopping districts on foot. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

« Very clean and helpful »

I stayed here at the end of sailing trip for one night. Found the staff very helpful and the rooms were very clean would recommend this hotel it was reasonably priced and close to metro. The area is not the best but its a short walk to main shops. There is a continental style breakfast. No Bar, But there is a great roof terrace with good views of athens

« Good price for offered service »

Prices were reasonable, and the staff were really nice. Clean rooms and nice location (quite close to some good restaurants) were really a plus for us. As for the negatives, the bathrooms are quite small, and the walls are like paper thin -- which is a big deal for some people who need some space for talking or relaxing. The neighborhood can also be unsafe, though we didn't experience untoward experience ourselves. But generally, I like the hotel.

« Hotel 2 nights and one further night »

We stayed here for 2 nights. 50 euro a night. The neighbourhood is not good. However the hotel was great clean and the rooftop excellent. We travelled around Greece for 5 days and cancelled another booking to come back here. It was close to an Irish bar and other locations such as an early morning 5am trip to the airport for a nearby metro station. We would return the staff were nice and this was within budget for us.

« Hotel reasonably priced, reasonable room, great terrace... Area not "the best" »

The hotel itself is easier accessed from Ommonia Metro station than Metaxiogio. From Meta.. It wasn't easy to find. The area is "up and coming" according to the website. Yup, its a bit rough and there is a security guard outside with a stab vest. (I have to point out that most properties do have guards and stab vests so it is normal practise... But when it is the first person you see it is a bot disconcerting) Now, the price is reasonable, Ommonia Square and other sights are very reachable on foot. The check in was easy. Staff were nice, the rooms are large with a balcony and clean too. (Ask for a room on a top floor for less noise; we were advised to do so on this site - good idea!) Bathroom was fine too. As we went out of season the rooftop terrace was "ours" fpr 4 nights. Open for all until 1am and great to see the Parthenon and the sun setting / views of the city. Spent many hours up there. We went to nearby Kebab shops and took meals up there. Shop wise there are two mini marts open just across from the hotel. There wasn't a proper supermarket until Ommonia Square. I'd stay there again if I was in Greece. Metro isn't far away so it was good value for money overall and an enjoyable 4 days spent.

« Good location, bad neighbourhood »

The price is also pretty fine, it's a good place for the short walk to the city centre: Omonia square, Piraeus avenue and the shopping area. The room quite basic yet acceptable, the bathroom too severe in a Greek manner. The biggest issue here is, actually, the surrounding which is unpleasant even during the day (not to mention night time) with many sad and broken people wondering around.

« good value and good location »

View from top terrace over the city at night is spectacular! Rooms are small but efficient use of space. Helpful and friendly staff. Easy to communicate in multiple languages with the staff. They were friendly, accommodating and helpful.

    « Not again »

While booking i wonder why they didnt put photos of shower and toilet to official site. When i arrive i figure out shower is XXXXXSmall really hard to fit and have shower. Staff is firendly and helpful to us. as everybody says location is terrible but not to fear about homeless all the guys are harmless. At last dont stay with the rooms end with 5 as 405 505 etc. theres is window with no view.

« Great value for experienced travelers »

Clean, quiet room with excellent friendly service in a remodeled hotel at modest prices. Comfortable beds. A/C barely acceptable. Small bathroom. TV has mostly Greek channels. Only offers breakfast. Has a great rooftop terrace overlooking most of Athens, particularly the Parthenon. Conveniently located near Omnia Square and the metro. Not for everybody, nor for lone female travelers as it is in a run down area. Yet, you can arrive/depart by taxi or just walk 100 meters along a safe street to a main safe street leading to Omnia Square and the Acropolis. Internet available in the rooms. Great value for the price. There is a convenience store across the street to buy necessities and food.

    « Poor »

Excellent service at the desk. A rather lovely rooftop that needs a bar or cafe. The location in Omonia is frankly quite abysmal and the rooms are clinical and ugly. Worst of the Best Westerns I've experienced.

« Sketchy neighborhood but friendly personell »

Thought this would be a place witj reliable wifi and a good location. Neither was particularly true. Athens( this Part anyway) is filthy and hard to navigateThe concierge was helpful and forthcoming. In conclusion, one definitely need not spend as much money to stay at an averae place in a subpar location!!
