« Fine and cheep hotel »

Okay place to stay if you just need a room to sleep in. It's close to the metro and the staff is super nice. The roof on the hotel is nice made withe a okay cheep bar and a little swimming pool. The breakfast is a little boring, but okay. All in all, it's a nice hotel if you want a cheep place to stay ;-)

« Great value for money »

Cheap and nice. Basic but nice and clean! It has a pool on the roof and good view of the acropolis. Breakfast is basic but some good food. Not the orange juice! Yoghurt really good! Area is ok not the best of Athens but well served by the metro.

« Good value for money »

This hotel was while not the most luxurious nice, clean and the staff were lovely. The hotel is very close to a metro station meaning the centre of Athens is only 10 minutes away. The area is not very touristy but we were able to come across a few lovely restaurants (notably a taverna one street away) that were outstanding and exceptionally cheap. I would definitely recommend if you are intending to sight see Athens and not spend a great amount of time in the hotel but saying that the rooftop bar is a perfect place to relax after a long day complete with panoramic views of Athens and the parthenon. My only complaint is that there were many large groups of annoying school children however it is completely unfair to judge the hotel based on other guests, they simply made for some loud nights!

    « Good Value »

Stay here each time I am in Athens. Great value, clean, friendly staff, good size rooms and, if you are lucky a great view of the Acropolis. Nice pool on the roof top. Breakfast is nice. Good value hotel.

    « value for money »

Very nice roof terrasse with a bar and a little pool and with fantastic view to Akropolis and over the city Nice friendly staff - a little noisy but Okay Breakfast is good, however missing real juice..

    « Unexpected Pleasure »

The hotel although situated in a strange place was only a short walk from 2 metro stations and was very easily accessible by foot. It has local shops and cafes nearby which was convenient too. The rooms were spacious and had everything that you'd expect from a hotel. The beds were not uncomfortable and it was clean. The balcony doors were sound proofed well to block out traffic noise. The food was buffet style and I found no complaints. The views of the city are great and you also get to see the acropolis from the location. The best part of this hotel is the service. I had the pleasure to meet Domna and Olga who were fantastic. They served meals and also served on the roof bar. Not only did they keep all the guests happy with entertainment (such as greek dancing) and with witty banter, they were personable and made me feel very welcome. They made the experience a true pleasure. I would definitely return here.

    « Budget hotel »

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was spacious but the beds were not that comfortable. The air conditioning felt like it was on its last legs and the mini fridge didn't work. It does look like it is in a sketchy area, but we never felt unsafe. Super close to the metro so it was convenient to get places. Water was always hot for the shower and continental breakfast was good. Would only stay here again if we had to.

    « Vacation »

Old but nice hotel. We got a top floor with a view of the Acropolis (beautiful ). Room was small, but clean. Shower head needed updating . Breakfast was fine. The roof top pool was quite tiny (amazing how the photos make it look huge). Staff was kind and helpful. It is close to the metro and hop on/off bus (our favorite thing-- choose the yellow ones)

« Good location but very basic rooms »

The hotel was located in close proximity to the city center and most of the sightseeing points in Athens which was very convenient. The staff was extremely responsive and helpful. The only low point was that the rooms and the washrooms were not very comfortable or spacious.

    « Greece holidays »

Candia is located conveniently with easy access to Metro and markets. Rooms are large with a balcony to seat two comfortably. Front desk and restaurant staff is very friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home. Great experience.

« Clean basic room, friendly helpful staff. »

Very basic but clean room. We wanted to be close to Nat. Archeological Museum, only 10 min. walk(great visit)close to train station, and bus station as well. Good breakfast selection...very helpful, friendly reception staff, especially George who gave us good info as to how to get anywhere, either but metro, bus, etc. He also helped book with Go Tours, great day trip to Delphi, loved it! and special thanks to George as well for suggesting visit to Temple of Poseidon on our last day there, showed us how to walk to bus terminal, absolutely loved this beautiful coastal ride to the Temple, wonderful!!! Enjoyed Acropolis view from top of hotel with a drink in the evening.

« Value for Money with Excellent Staff »

This is a budget hotel and in this context, I considered my stay to be excellent value for money. I stayed here on two occasions. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The rooftop bar and views towards the Acropolis are amazing. The included food was good with excellent service from staff. The location wasn't perfect, but you get what you pay for and it is within a short commute of the main city centre. Well done.

    « Best Western Candia »

REVIEW: My wife and I spent a week in Athens and stayed at the Best Western Candia, which is definitely the best in value, so far as rates and location is concerned. Rooms were spacious with all facilities and amenities. Excellent breakfast and very pleasant and professional staff. Ms. Maria Letsou, Sales & Reservation Manager, was extraordinarily helpful, cooperative and obliging. She above all, ensured we had an unforgettable vacation.

« Nice, clean but weird location »

This hotel was basic but nice. The staff were kind, and the rooms were a decent size. Great view from upstairs pool. My only issue with this hotel was firstly, its location. The group of us felt quite unsafe walking around this part of town in Athens. It is not within walking distance to the greatest selection of eating places or cafes...had to get an uber to go to anywhere with good vibes. Also, the other disappointment was that laundry services are "offered", however customers have to walk to a lady (situated a couple blocks away) and get it done there, not on hotel premises. Overall, good for a simple stopover.

    « could be better »

The noise from the street was very loud, impossible to sleep, always we was hearing noise from the upper floors. At the breakfast we was having during 7days same menu, nothing changed. We liked only the location of the hotel cz its was closed to the main metro station.

« OK, I will not go back again. »

For 60euro I felt like it was a bit overpriced for some outdated features and decor. The staff were nice, breakfast was good nice selection, view from the top of the hotel where there is a pool was good. This was an extremely? Functional hotel if you are coming to take in all of Athens, and not relying on a luxurious hotel for part of your experience. I also stayed in hotel Oscar a few blocks away from best Western, and felt like the experience was a little better for €20 less a night.

    « Good value hotel »

We had limited options in choosing a hotel for our last minute trip to Athens, particularly given we wanted a pool. We were somewhat apprehensive, having seen some fairly unfavourable reviews, but we have been more than satisfied with this hotel. The rooms were clean, a/c worked perfectly and our teenage sons had no wi-fi issues. Breakfast offered plenty of options. The pool was exactly the size you would expect on the roof top of a city hotel - large enough for us to take a refreshing dip post sightseeing. The sun-loungers could ideally do with mattresses, but that would be my only "gripe". We felt perfectly safe walking to/from the metro, even at night and the metro itself is clean, quick, safe and cheap, making it very easy to get into the centre.

    « A good hotel »

The location is not really good, in front of the train tracks, you will need to walk about 10 min to reach the subway to go in the center of Athens. The staff is really nice and the room are clean with modern bathroom. I don't know if it's the usage in Greece but we didn't have a double bed. It was 2 singles placed next to each other. But still, the roof pool is amazing (little 3m diameter circle but the view is crazy) and the breakfast is more than ok.

« Perfect for what we needed »

Positives--So this hotel is close to the metro, it was so easy to get here from the airport ( €10, blue airport line, cchange at syntyntagma square to red line to Larissa station ( direction of anthoupoli) takes exactly one hour, tge hotel is a three minute walk from the station ( go past petrol station on left side of street) it is also the line that brings you to the Acropolis (15 mins), near a hop on stop for the tourist bus, staff very friendly, let us check in at 8am , good breakfast , rooftop bar is cute with great view, pool is just a plunge pool but does the job, air con was good, room clean and good wifi. Negatives - nothing much , the rooms are a little nosy, ask for a room not facing the main road, the location itself has nothing really going for it , I didn't feel at all unsafe but just no restaurants etc nearby. To conclude I would stay again for the price , you will be so busy it will only be a bed and breakfast you need

    « good location »

the hotel is old but the rooms are very clean and the staff very friendly. great view of Acropolis and Lycabitos! the roof garden is perfect but the swimming pool very small!! easy access to metro Metaxourgio station!!! you have to be carefully in the metro for many reasons!!especially your money and your mobile!!

    « Average »

It s just what needed .. not a luxurious hotel and the pool is too dmall for those who wanna swim and all the channels tv are almost greek The hotel is not close to the center You have to walk like 150 m to get to the metro station and change metro like 2 times to get to the center (monastiraki) But if u just need somewhere to sleep , have breakfast and take a shower it s not that bad ( but the cleanliness of the bathroom wasn't at its best on our first day)

« Great view of Acropolis from my room. Quick wifi everywhere. Staff very friendly. Clean hotel. Great breakfast. »

My room very big and my balcony. Wifi very quick everywhere. Staff very friendly. View of Acropolis from my room great especially during the night. The hotel is very clean. Sales department very helpful. Breakfast very rich with great variety of things to choose from. Receptionists very professional and the lady in charge also. Owner of hotel very kind. The room has everything you need and A/C works great. It's situated between two metro stations and the area is very safe with police protection. You can get to all major attractions through metro and other transportation. I've visited this hotel many times and am very satisfied. During the summer the pool is open. You can also have a drink at the pool bar during day and night time. Great view from the top of pool and bar area.

« Perfect room for the price, rooftop small swimming pool a real bonus »

I was positively surprised by this hotel, that I choose as a "last minute booking". The location is ok (not the most touristic area, but 5mn from the subway, and close from a lively square built around a church with several restaurants and café). The outside of the building might not be impressive but the rooms seem to have been recently renovated, they are spacious with a good bathroom, and ours (on the 6th floor) had a nice balcony. The rooftop terrasse is great with a real panoramic view on the city, and if the swimming pool is small (a meter deep and 6 meters long) it is a nice bonus. The staff is friendly, the breakfast good. We would come back with pleasure

    « Fantastic hotel »

Brill location, great food, friendly staff, George is ace you must say hi to George for us he made our holiday :) best holiday in a long time metro is easy to use and the open bus tours are ace. Small pool on roof was bigger than we thought and even we had a fantastic view of the Acropolis from our balcony and the roof garden

« Good standard hotel in a good location »

I was here in July on an organised tour for four nights. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Wifi and air conditioning worked well. Pool and rooftop terrace were perfect for afternoon/evening relaxing. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel - food was decent and there was enough variety that you did not get board. My only suggestion is this: this hotel is a budget hotel mainly catering for groups - a more economical laundry service would have been used by everyone in my group if it had been a available - prices on the list in the room were extremely expensive - maybe something for hotel management to consider.

    « Good. »

I visited this hotel on the very first night i arrive in the athens. Me and my friend didn't have any reservation but luckily we get room here for 2 nights. So service was good. Room was quite big. Receptionists was good. Bathroom was good. Only thing we didn't like was air conditioning.. It was hell we couldn't sleep whole night .. I don't know why it was like that . May be they have old ac's or room was so big that its unable to make it cool down. Rest everything was ok. There was pool and bar on the top floor you can enjoy there in the night.. So please consider this point. Because in summer you can't sleep without good air conditioner..

    « Worst beds ever »

This hotel definitely needs an update. The rooms are outdated and have the worst beds I have ever slept on. It felt as though we were sleeping on plywood. The rooftop bar is pretty nice and gives good views of the city. The rooftop pool they have is much more of a bathtub size. We would not stay here again.

    « Good location, bad air-conditioning »

I mentioned location because all the major attraction points - Plaka, Lycabattus, Syntagma Square are about a max of 5 euros taxi ride. And the reception calls the taxi for you - so it's really convenient. Let's talk about the rooms, they are really clean, and well maintained - the only issue that we faced was the air conditioning. The room was never cool enough for the Athens heat. We moved to two other rooms and finally settled on a 3rd one. There are lots and lots of rooms in the hotel. If you are not happy with your room, just ask for another, or another. :) There is a swimming pool and a bar on the terrace and you have a great view of the city. It opens only at 7 pm. Great place to party, or relax. Please take out time and spend at least half an hour during your stay here. You will love it. Breakfast spread is quite good. Starts really early and continues till 9:30 am at least. The staff is helpful and friendly, quite at par with the rest of their countrymen :)

« Not bad, clean and relaxing, staff at the reception are nice and helpful »

I was there for 5 nights. It is clean and the roof top is a nice place to relax and have a drink in the evening. It overlooks the city. Staff at the reception are nice and helpful. Wifi connection is good. The breakfast is okay, there is a good variety of food for different tastes.

    « So and so »

I cannot judge this hotel according to the price payed since it was used during an organized travel by Alpitour (Tour Grecia Classica). Anyway the hotel was too noisy especially during the night, possible caused by the high number of guys and girls from European school which was present for all our stays (4 nights). Service was good, unless the clean of the room was quite poor. The hotel is not is the city center and during the evening you should take the metro to reach the city centre (during the day you may decide to go for a long walk but the area is not higly recommended during the evening).

    « Just basic hotel »

This is a budget 3 star hotel. The most annoying thing here is the wifi is just useless ... and the ac hardly works ... rooms are clean . Rooftop drinks place has a nice view of acropolis especially at night . The pool is small . Breakfast buffet is just average . Location wise its near centre .

« One night stay in Athens »

Our family of 4 stayed here after visiting the Cyclades. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean, but the hotel is pretty basic and very dated. They do serve a complementary breakfast and have a nice outdoor bar on the top level with a great view of the Acropolis. The room itself felt more like a hostel instead of a hotel. The beds (4 singles) were very hard, so may be a problem if you have neck or back problems.

« Good location, friendly staff »

I spent four days with kids in the hotel. Outskirts are quite offputting, but the hotel was nice and clean inside. The location was convenient between two metro stations and within a nice walking distance from Omonia. The wifi quality was a bit of an issue to the generation who wants to be online constantly. The kids were happy about the dipping pool (it was quite hot) and really liked the very homey dinner buffet - excellent fasilaki!

« Excellent, but for wifi »

We spent a really nice time. We have been a week in the hotel. The room was comfortable, good cleaning. Free buffet breakfast was quite average, not plenty of variety. Problems with internet in the rooms. Very charming, although really small swimming pool in the roof. All people from reception, but one we meet the first night, were really helpful and polite.

    « A substandard hotel »

Outward appearance of the hotel is not appealing at all. The staff is curt. The air conditioning is ineffective. The room was very cramped. The buffet had a sumptuous spread. The rooftop view to the acropolis was breathtakingly beautiful especially during the night.

    « Rooms ok »

The rooms were clean. The bathroom was not too big, you have to take a shower in the bathtub. The beds were ok. On the rooftop you had a great view over Athens including the Parthenon! A small swimmingpool and a bar was also present on the rooftop. The elevators were really small (2 persons at most!)

« Good location and nice breakfast »

We have just completed our 2-night stay at the BW Candia in Athens. As the other reviews say the location of the hotel is good, a few 100 mts from the nearest metro which takes you to all the famous places. There are though very few places to eat around the hotel. The rooms are small but very clean. We faced no problems with the neighbourhood and felt safe. It was also not as noisy as what the other reviewers are saying. The large buffet breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Plenty of options for everyone and tasty greek yoghurt is on offer. I would recommend staying at this hotel if you are not too fussy about room size.

    « Ok stay »

When you're a little (or a lot) jet lagged and are arriving in a city for the first time, it's really important to be able to find your hotel easily. I had directions and was ready to roll, but after exiting the metro station, there were no signs indicating which was Diligianni Street. That's not the hotel's fault, but the sign for the hotel is on the side street, not on Diligianni, so it was a tough start to the trip. Anyway, I arrived in Athens on the hottest day of the year and my room's air conditioner didn't have much power, so I also opened the refrigerator to speed it up - that helped. I actually stayed three nights in total in three different rooms (once on my own, twice with a group en route to and from Mykonos and, all in all, the rooms aren't fancy, but the price was right and the location was reasonable, directly between two metro stops. The wifi was awful but the buffet breakfast and dinner were decent, and the rooftop pool/bar/lounge area offered a lovely nighttime view of the Acropolis and a panoramic view of the city. Not bad.

« average hotel... Clean but bit old itnerior »

We stayed for 2 nights. Easy check in & Check out. Also they give details for near by places while checking is. Which i likes. Rooms are clean , Spacious but bit old interior. Swimming pool is too small. Location is good. Near by metro station. Also indian restaurant delivers the food. You will find menu in hotel lobby. Overall ok ok. You can stay if old interior not a problem.

« Fabulous hotel with very friendly staff »

We got back from a week in Athens yesterday afternoon and we stayed at this lovely hotel. Our room was very spacious and had a fabulous balcony, we were on the 6th floor so could see for miles. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was great too. Breakfast had plenty of choice whether you wanted a full cooked meal or cereal/pastries. We ate in the hotel on 3 evenings while there and each time the food was of a good variety plus wine included. The rooftop bar was reasonably priced and although the pool is small it is perfect to have a dip in on a really hot day. Whenever we needed to know anything about the local area or book a taxi to go anywhere the reception staff were more than happy to help and they had a good variety of maps to help you get around. We used the metro as our preferred method of transport while there and €9 each for a 5 day ticket was great value and so quick to get around the city. We did so much in a week but plan to return and stay in this lovely friendly hotel again as there is so much more to see.

    « Family of 4 from AUS »

Room adequate, small hotel room but large balcony. Awesome views, pool small but perfect for children! Amazing views, close to train station. Trains cheap, easy to use but taxi, even though a little more expensive are safer - we felt a little uncomfortable on the trains at times!

    « Candia Hotel »

Nice hotel. Great breakfast buffet. Room was nice. View from top Terrace was awesome. It does look a little dated but for the price was a great value. Was treated nicely and professionally. Would stay there again.

    « very good hotel »

This hotel is like an oasis in the desert. The area isn't that good, but I knew that before I arrived. Very easy to find using public transport, and very pleasantly surprised. I had room number 520 and my friend had 518. View from balcony isn't great but that didn't matter as the small rooftop pool and huge bar area are fantastic. Rooms are very nice especially as mine was used as a single, but beware of noisy hell raisers at 3 and 4am!! I had to complain to reception after I asked them to be quiet, but to no avail. That did the trick!! Breakfast was excellent, couldn't fault it at all, except maybe brown rolls would be a nice addition. I am vegetarian, but my needs were met adequately!! Two bar ladies on rooftop bar were the most friendly and helpful. Reception men staff were a bit grumpy. Still helpful though. They confirmed by phone two trips for us. All in all I would definitely return, but has to be between May and September when the pool is in use!!! A huge asset to this very good hotel. Area isn't nice, but only 3 stops on metro to centre!

    « Average »

I was in this hotel for a culture trip and it's good if you are looking for something with low cost. The rooms are clean, but they are not the biggest. Showers are clean, but not luxurious. The pool on the roof is a big plus for the hotel, eventhough it's really tiny so you can't really swim, but it can be relaxing for a few minutes after a tough day. The historic centre is two metro stations away. You should not go for a walk around the hotel during night, espescially if you're a woman. The area is really scary and dangerous, better remain inside or use a taxi if you want to go out.

Stayed here for 3 nights and thought I was staying in the Greek version of the Ghetto. Where can I start on this joke of a hotel? - we stayed in three different rooms over the course of a week due to a tour we were on. Room 103, 303 & 503 and all had terrible wifi! The only reliable wifi was in the hotel lobby unless you were willing to sit outside your hotel room next to the door. - dinner was €14 for all you eat buffet. Terrible food! We have paid less euros for better food elsewhere in Greece. Undressed salad vegetables and semi hot meats are on offer along with only one choice for dessert. The first time we had dinner there it was included in our tour the next time we paid as we were too scared to leave the hotel at night. I had quiche and Creme Caramel for dinner - both of which are French dishes not Greek! Along with some sad salad. Whilst eating dinner the maitre D decided he would help himself to some dinner and grabbed a bread roll in his hand and started stuffing a bread roll full of food with it before walking away to eat it - we were staying the second night with our tour and then the third on our own and asked if we could stay in the same room as we had finalised our tour and had booked a night on our own and they said no that we would have to leave our bags at reception and then come back later to re-check in as they had another tour group coming through. We packed our bags, headed downstairs and then re-explained our situation and the receptionist claims he didn't understand me and that we can just move to another room so we had to go upstairs and unpack again in another room just for one night! - room 103 didn't have a slot in the wall for the shower head that was on a hose so you had to hold the shower head in your hand while trying to shower or leave it in the holder which was at knee height - the hotel is in a TERRIBLE location!!! One of the cab drivers who dropped us to the hotel told us to not leave the hotel at night and to instead call a cab because it's dangerous. The streets reak of urine and fish, stray poor cats everywhere, people having domestics in the street, trash and graffiti everywhere and this is literally next door to the hotel! There's also no laundry facilities on site so you have to take a stroll into the ghetto and pay €10 for a load to be washed and dryed! - we missed our transfer to the airport and when we queried with the transfer company they said they sent a fax to the hotel saying the transfer was an hour earlier and we never received it so the hotel not passing this Information on cost us €44 euro that now we have to fight to get back. I would never EVER stay here again and it has really ruined my Greek experience.

« Near the city centre. »

I was on a school trip from Italy and I spent two nights here. Buffets were varied and the food was good. Rooms were cleaned. The position of the hotel is strategic because it is quarter an hour (walking) from the centre.

« Convenient hotel in good price »

situated in the center of athens, candia is a friendly hotel with warm staff and nice rooms. recently started its renovation and will provide a bigger variety of services. smiley personnel especially in reception and restaurant. serves breakfast in a big buffet full of food and juices from Mediterranean. the best drinks are served on the roof garden bar where a small swimming pool is situated.

« Good location, nice rooms, great breakfast »

Couldn't fault this place for proximity to the center and value for money. Main pro's were -free wifi throughout, -pool on the roof with stunning night-time view of Acropolis -great breakfasts -friendly staff Con's: -Decor a bit drab -Fellow guests often young and loud - only noticeable at pool bar on roof.

« Great Hotel, Brilliant Staff »

The staff were fantastic, very helpful and answered all our questions. Despite what some reviews say about the area we found perfectly safe with several bars and restaurants (and a supermarket) within a few minutes walk. Karaiskaki Square is five minute down the road where there are plenty places for food and drink along with a metro station. Larrisa railways station is five minute walk in the opposite direction where there is another metro station so transport is on the doorstep. Breakfast was more than adequate to set us all up for the day. I have to agree with some reviews regarding the wifi. While I found it fine most for most of our visit there were times when it would simple drop out but I don't think this is a hotel issue as we all found that tended to happen at other locations too. The rooms were clean and spacious and I had no issue with noise as some reviews mention despite our room being at the from of the hotel facing the railway line (I don't think it's an overly busy station). All in all great value, great location and fantastic staff.

« Bad Area, Websites lie »

I didnt like this hotel first of all its in quite a bad area with alot of graffiti rubbish on the streets also would walk around there by myself at night not alot of touristic places to eat around just cafe's for locals the hotel inside wasnt bad though breakfast was great rooms were fine with a balcony with a view. The pool was closed which was the main reason we booked the Hotel very disappointing

« Near to 2 metro stations. Big comfortable room with great view of the city. Quick wifi. Safe area. »

The hotel is located between two metro stations. Very safe area. I have come to this hotel lots of times. My room was very big and comfortable. Heating perfect. Soap, shampoo, shower gel, hairdryer and clean sheets daily changed. All staff very friendly and helpful in anyway. Very clean room and quick wifi everywhere. National railway near the hotel incase you want to travel in other parts of Greece. Police protection everywhere and police station near the hotel. Police protection always in Metro stations. Breakfast with big variety to choose and delicious things to eat. 3 computers in the reception area if you want to print things or do anything else. The area has a big super market, small mini markets, theatres, lots of cafe and bars. Easy access by metro to big Malls, Syntagma Square, Monastiraki, Thissio and the Acropolis. Management of hotel very professional and helpful in anyway. I recommend this hotel to others. My personal experience staying there was perfect.

    « Not so good »

I didn't like it at all. It's not the worst but it's not the best either. It's fairly clean and the stuff was okay. Not particulary friendly but not rude as well. I wouldn't go there again but for a night or two it's okay.

    « EF Tours »

We stayed here for 3 night while visiting Greece. We were traveling with high school students. The rooms we small and clean. The only complaint from the teens was the wifi wasn't accessible in the rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. Thanks for the hospitality.

« basic, friendly and efficient - exactly as per expectations »

My wife & I booked a short break on an airline package. We were quite certain what we had booked and really encountered no surprises. It is a budget hotel, and does not pretend to be other wise. Rooms are clean, the staff were very friendly and ever helpful. There are a number of rooms along the rather busy main road which can be very noisy and overlooks and (an even noisier) station. We requested another room after the first night. The person at the reception, a deceptively stern looking gentleman called George, but he was friendly and very helpful who did his best accommodate us. We were happy with the second room which was smaller but wasn't an issue - and it had a view of the fabulous Acropolis. The noise level was much reduced and we had a good sleep over the next few days that we were there. The breakfast was not extensive but more than adequate and tasty. Bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, juice, cake, fruits and the outstanding Greek yogurt .We never had dinner here because it closed at 9 pm. The best part of the of the hotel is the location - it is located 250 metres from the Metaxourghio Metro station (less than 10 minutes from the Acropolis) and close to the Monastiraki Square.

    « Good place »

I stayed in this hotel with my class for 2 days. The restaurant is good, even for particular diets like gluten-free or vegan. Most of the staff is gentle and available(not all). There is a good view from the roof of the building. The rooms are good, the WiFi is difficult to use and sometimes doesn't work.

« Noisy hotel a real Let down »

HOW FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL WERE THE STAFF? Nice friendly staff, not complaints. HOW CLEAN WAS THE ROOM? Clean and was serviced every day. HOW WHERE THE FACILITIES? The room was small but have a terrace, has a TV with only 3 international channels ,a fridge , a safe, and the air conditioner did only blow hot Air. The bathroom is small and the toilet is wedge in a corner making difficult to reach. The hotel had a swimming pool and bar in the roof but only opens in summer. HOW WAS THE FOOD? Breakfast is good, better actually than dinner, though is everyday the same. The quality of the drinks,(coffee, hot chocolate, wine, ) was not good. No juice served with breakfast just squash. DID YOU SLEEP WELL? No. The room gets too hot and I had to open the window from time to time. The pillows are very uncomfortable and the mattress is hard, the hotel and outside is very noisy in general WOULD YOU STAY AGAIN? No, though the staff were great there are many things to make a unpleasant stay, the fact that I didn't get a good sleep during my stay is as well a negative point IN GENERAL. Not the nicer Best western hotel I have been in. The hotel is on a main road and next to a train line, so I was kept awake by the traffic noise and the noise from train passing by every hour, on top of that this hotel is popular with groups of school children which kept running and hanging around the corridors. The fact that the door and the wall of the room are not very thick didn't help either.

« A good hotel for visiting Athens. »

Great hotel for visiting all that Athens had, right next to the Metro. Helpful staff George in reception really kind and helpful, clean rooms, great breakfast to start your day. Very good value for money, would stay there again. Perhaps only downside it wasn't peaceful but so worn out after all our sight seeing it didn't seem to matter.

    « A Good Affordable Hotel »

We enjoyed staying at your hotel. It is nice, cosy and clean. The staff are friendly and polite. The only thing I'd like to recommend is to add a chair/ armchair into the room for three people as well as a draining rack or additional pegs in the bathroom. Thanks for your kind service.

    « Not really a 4* Hotel »

You get what you pay, this is how i would describe this hotel. Its not close to a 4* hotel, but the stuff is really friendly and helpfull. The location is great, only 2 stations from the center. The WIFI is free but not really good, checking emails can take very long.

« Perfect view from my room. »

The room had a perfect street view and the Acropolis. The staff where very helpful. Wifi was very quick in the room and everywhere else. Breakfast was really perfect. The fridge, hot water, air conditioning and safe where great. The balcony was very big. Safe area with police protection everywhere. 2 metro stations near the hotel and taxi's too. Near the railway station going to other parts of Greece.

« Good value for a convenient location »

Do not expect comfortable bed, fancy breakfast, and soundproof rooms. But you are not paying for that either. It's not far from a subway station, which means you can get there from the airport taking the subway, and getting around in the city with the subway. In retrospect, i may have stayed in other hotels, like the Amalia hotel near Symtagma square.

« Home away from Home in Athens »

I have stayed at the Candia on several occasions in the past, but most recently in the summer of 2015 on 2 extended stays while there on business. Highlights and important points to consider: Location is between 2 Metro stops and is only 5-7 minutes to Syntagma Square and another 2 minutes to Acropolis via Metro. Restaurants and church squares also in the area for wandering around, but otherwise within a typical Athenian neighborhood. Rooms are clean and well appointed, but not 5 star luxury. If you want a good, clean budget oriented hotel, this is your place. Free Wifi on all floors and always working. Gorgeous rooftop terrace with a bar and a small swimming pool makes a perfect place to enjoy the gorgeous Athenian sunsets each evening, also with a view of the Acropolis. Breakfast buffet included, featuring eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurt, cereals, breads and toasts, coffee, tea, juices, etc. Great little bar area for afternoon coffee or drinks. Desk staff are fantastic and always helpful and courteous. They were like friends to me by the time I had to time I bring them all pizza! Thank you, Candia!

« Budget Hotel Better than Average »

Nice size rooms, well maintained, clean and comfortable. Nice rooftop pool with great view of the Acropolis. Buffet breakfast is very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Price is good. Close to Metro stations and close to sights.

    « Just right »

The room was perfect, The free wifi signal was really good and the room was modern, clean and well presented. Every day we came back to the hotel after days out, the beds were made and towels were replaced. There were spare blankets and pillows in case you get cold at night and a welcome pack was provided. A lot of storage space for clothes with a safe in the wardrobe for your passports etc. On the roof there's a pool but do not be deceived, it's smaller than it looks! On the bright side you have an incredible view of the acropolis especially at night. The hotel is close to the metro which will get you almost everywhere in Athens. The staff was friendly during Breakfast and the breakfast buffet was really fulfilling aswell. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

« Great value hotel in Athens »

Well appointed rooms, free wifi, working elevators, a good breakfast with a variety of foods, friendly reception staff and a fantastic rooftop bar. This hotel is fantastic value for money and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, would recommend to anyone travelling to Athens.

    « Fantastic »

We didn't know what to expect when we booked since we had never been to Greece before. This place was awesome, the people friendly and helpful and really it puts many USA hotels to shame! Breakfast and the Dinner was excellent with a lot of variety.

« Great for traveling college students »

We stayed at this hotel for two nights during a 2 week college study abroad trip through Italy and Greece. We had a group of around 40 students and 2 professors. They accommodated all of us perfectly. I was impressed with the authentic Greek breakfast offered. This hotel was within close walking distance to many attractions and shopping centers. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

« Clean rooms, great staff but »

This hotel caters to backpackers which love to party and keep everyone awake all night. They even went through the hall window and partied on our deck one night, which is fully accessible through that window. The room balcony should be blocked off or that window should be permanently locked. Lucky it was our last night or we would have not stayed because we did not feel safe at all. If it wasn't for the clean room and pleasant staff, I would have given this hotel a 1 star.

« Nice staff but very noisy hotel »

I stayed there for 2 nights (Room 424) in September, as part of a Group. POSITIVES: staff is nice and helpful. The Restaurant: was good, buffet style for both breakfast and dinner, and its staff was incredibly quick and efficient and very accommodating regarding opening and closing times. Room was of adequate size and I found the bed to be comfortable. Free wifi in the room, somewhat erratic at times. Nice rooftop bar. NEGATIVES: extremely noisy in the hallways at night, due to groups of boisterous teenagers (I believe on a school trip from a language school), running up and down the corridor, knocking on doors (including mine), talking loudly and shouthing. The noise only abated at around 3 a.m. Other members of my Group had similar complaints. Shower cubicle very small. I am M size and still found it difficult to move around. It was made even worse by an old style shower head which didn't work properly so that water splashed out of the cubicle. Location is not so good as it seems to be in a somewhat run down area of the city, so much so that both our local Guide and the Reception staff kept advising us to be very careful and not to stand outside the hotel's door. I am afraid I would not stay in this hotel again.

« Loved the warm and friendly welcome! »

We stayed here last night and were so impressed by how delightfully friendly and welcoming the staff are here! The room was great, aircon worked well, internet patchy but worked. I used the computers in the lobby to print out boarding passes (free). We had a set meal in the restaurant for 14 Euro. Apparently they said, it was normally a buffet, but not last night as they only had a few for dinner. So we had a choice of starters, mains, and fruit for dessert with wine. It was all very nice and the breakfast was even better! A very good selection of food and beverages for breakfast set us up for our onward travels. We would definitely stay here again!

« Average hotel. Good short stay and not bad for travel transfer. »

Not bad hotel. Good short stay and not bad for travel transfer. Good location, closer to Omonia square and not far from Monostiraki (2-3 metro station, or walk). Some room have good view. Very, very small bathroom. But service and staff is very nice.

« Best Western Candia Hotel Is The Best »

Loved it there! The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the food at the breakfast and buffet was fabulous! I loved that I could use their internet anytime and for however long I needed! We stayed three nights and enjoyed going to some fun places. we recommend this hotel to everybody!

    « Regular hotel! »

The hotel is well located in general, but the pictures from the website looks much better that how the hotel really is. It's missing maintenance. The breakfast was very simple, the same everyday, with no many things to choose. We got a room with four beds, 2 of them were very comfortable but the other 2 ones were very hard and almost impossible to sleep. You can hear the noise from the streets all day all night. It has a swimming pool on the top, which is really very refreshing after a sunny day in Athens and the bar next to the pool is quite nice for having a long evening have some nice drinks.

    « Wouldn't stay again. »

Internet was unusable as it was so slow and the air conditioning did not keep the room cool. Bed was very hard and the area around the hotel is pretty dodgy. On the plus side the view from the rooftop bar is great however the pool is very small and the drinks expensive.
