It is also within walking distance of many sites, shops and restaurants. The hotel restaurant serves high quality food and drinks. The restaurant staff is friendly, helpful and professional. We have been staying here for a weekend. Staf is very friendly. We had a comfort room. Nice spacy and clean. The bed is great! Nothing to complain about the room. This hotel is busy with a big renovation at the opposite of the reception. So for breakfast you have to walk a bit outside to enter the breakfastroom. Breakfast is ok but when we took a sandwich it was a bit hard. Te location is great. Middle in the center of Assen with everything near you. Bars, theater, restaurants, musea, shops. Parking is available at the parking garage stadhuis (garage townhall) for 3 euro's a night. Ask for this at the reception.
The rooms were better this time. better shower etc In general a much better look' . A pity I was put in one of the last ones as I stayed 7 days. (In the corridor). Good was I could stay longer as my train did't leave early.
The people and the central location are what brings our rating above average. Some points of attention are the odd location of the reception, that is very basic; the 'interesting' indoor path to the breakfast area through a tunnel over the road; some other aspects of the inroom experience. The interior decoration of the recently renovated rooms is modern. Good job.
Stopped at hotel due to location of the fantastic Assen race circuit. Great reception service, room clean and spacious with good hot shower. Breakfast served opposite good choice. We ate here on first night good quality food at reasonable prices. Car parking close by in underground car park, vouchers given out by reception. Large Saturday market well worth a visit. Def would stop again

Dear Sir/Madame, Thank you for your detailed review of our hotel and the surrounding area. We hope to see you again soon! Kind Reagard, Bart Kuiper Front Office Supervisor
Rooms are modern and recently updated. Quiet with a good bed, AC and good hot shower were strong points. Wifi worked well. Breakfast says continental but you get usual fully cooked offerings at it is good value. Staff are always helpful and engaged which makes a difference. Ask about car parking - 3euros for exit passes to town hall underground car park is good. Location is close to many good restaurants as well.

Dear Sir/Madame, Thank you for taking the time to write this review about our hotel. We hope to see you again soon! Kind Reagards, Bart Kuiper Front Office Supervisor
My Son booked this hotel in error and I just want to commend Bart Kuiper the fo Supervisor on his superb communication and customer service skills. A fantastic ambassador for the hotel....... C Hardie.
The hotel room was really nice. It came with a fan (nice, as the weather was hot), a tub (always good as we don't have one at home), and a very comfortable bed. Check-in & out was efficient, fast, and friendly. The hotel website warns against noise, and the room came with earplugs. We didn't experience excessive or irritating noise though. Breakfast staff was working hard, but with not enough people on the shift, things ran out at the buffet too often. Which brings us to the restaurant: food & drinks were good, and nice value for money. Staff on the terrace was inattentive, with some people a bit on the arrogant side, and us feeling invisible now and then. The girls behind the bar were really friendly and attentive though, despite them being very very busy. So "very good" is a bit too optimistic for some aspects, but rating the De Jonge "average" wouldn't do justice to the good things.
Very comfortable Hotel in the middle of Assen. Rooms were large and very clean. Nice choice on menu and a variety of drinks! Seating outside under parasols, plenty of accommodating staff. Busy Market stalls on Saturdays are right outside the Hotel and up the street. Plenty of other shops and restaurants in the immediate area to choose from. Lift to all floors at reception and most staff speak English as well as other languages!

Our room was quiet and clean. We found it odd that there was not a sink in the toilet room. You had to walk over to the shower/sink area to wash your hands. We stayed over Easter weekend and the reception area and persons were a bit confusing upon arrival, but the stay was great. Breakfast is a must!
We recently stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is right in the centre of town and the bar and restaurant downstairs has great food and drink. We had an issue with a double booked room. After several e mails this was promptly sorted out and the money was placed back in our account. All the staff were very helpful and tried their best to deal with it. We had read that being in town it was very loud but we didnt have any issues at all. Great market just outside on Saturday. Thanks again for a great stay
I stayed on this hotel while attending a course in Assen. The room was not booked by me, but by the course provider. During my stay the hotel was going through renovation work. Unfortunately, I stayed on one of the old rooms. The room was big, but it was a bit tired and an unpleasant smell came from the toilet. I would advise you to book one of the renovated rooms, I think they might be better. What I really liked was the location, right in the centre of Assen, near the museum, archive, city hall, shops and a 5 minutes walk from the train station. The traditional market also happens right in front of the hotel, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On weekends you can hear noise coming from a club. I found the staff to be a bit unfriendly. To my surprise, one girl at the reception was not very good at English, something that is a bit strange in the Netherlands, considering that most people are very good with English. Breakfast was served on a building beside the hotel. It was the usual stuff you find in hotels, nothing amazing about it.
Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is superbly located downtown close to shopping and dining. We had a great dinner there 1 evening. Good food and wonderful service. The room we had was large and clean, and had recently been renovated. Someone is not paying attention to detail, as the room telephone did not work as the plug for it was somewhere behind the renovated wall unit. Also, at least 3 electrical outlets had no power.
We stayed here with our son (20). We had rooms 303 & 305. These are newly decorated rooms. Large and very comfortable. We stayed here whilst visiting the Truckfest at the TT circuit. The town of Assen is lovely. lots of streets to wander round, lots of little independently owned shops and restaurants to eat at.
We have stayed for six nights and we were in Assen for a training course. Room was clean, towels were clean. Heating system was perfect. The hotel is in the city center and easy to reach. Breakfast was perfect. They also nice restaurant and bar.
Loved the location and shops, markets, and bars all around. Everything seems to close early but great location where you can walk to just about everything. Some rooms face the market area which can start setting up around 5am. There is also a large club on the weekends nearby. They actually have earplugs in the room for ya. Hotel is basic and clean. always a few weird things- hair dryer didnt work, no shower towels in room. I figured i would just get some the next morning before taking my shower. went down to front desk at 7am and it was closed shut. I ended up boring a coworkers extra towel. a decent selection of cable channels. Rooms were clean and very basic. I have stayed at other Hotels close to Assen, but will stay at this one again because of the location.
For the money this hotel represents good value, it's surprisingly large and being in the heart of Assen's town centre it is convenient for shops, restaurants and even the local museum. However, the hotel is currently being renovated so there is a stark contrast between the old and the new and there was some building work such as drilling around 11:00 a.m. but most guests have usually checked out by then. The rooms are modern, simple but functional, the double bed has two separate mattresses which we didn't find comfortable and we also experienced problems with air con units - so much so that we had to abandon one room for another in the early hours of the morning. Despite this, the situation was handled with the minimum of fuss and we were allowed a late check out which really helped. All in all, once the renovations have been completed and if the rates remain at £60 per night or less, this hotel would represent good value for money as the overall experience was positive, all staff were polite and the service was good.
The hotel is situated in the center of town, with many restaurants and bars nearby. My room was rather basic, but clean. Renovations of other rooms were ongoing in the same floor, so it felt a bit like walking through a building site on the way to my room. Staff at the reception were very friendly. The breakfast was good and is served in the neighbouring restaurant. Wifi was free and worked well. All in all a reasonable hotel to stay for a night or two. By the way, free transport is provided to the NAM office, a 5 minutes drive.
This hotel warrants its 3 star rating, the rooms are basic and could be improved for comfort. Room recently refurbished but bathroom not. Clean and fine to stay in for a few nights. The reason I'd come back time and time again is the restaurant. €27.50 for a three course meal is exceptional value, the food is fantastic, you'd pay much more in the UK and the staff are delightful. Very polite and it's an enjoyable experience to eat here.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights only and we were very pleased with staff, clean and very nice rooms. Staff is very polite and helpfull. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. And they even allow to stay with pets!
Your staff is very friendly and elegant. All time they helped us to every things. I lost my loggege they help to find it. They behavior very polite towards all costemers. Hotel is clean and have good location. I would like to thank you for your interest.
We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time staff very helpfull & friendly, rooms were ideal and spotless, location is smack in the middle of Assen. I stayed at this hotel as a very young player on a rugby trip in the late 1980s, I can tell you the change is unberlievable. Apparentley still in the same family. Would reccomend.
This hotel just gets better and better, I have stayed here on a number of occasions and its central position makes it an ideal base for business or pleasure. The food is very good and the staff are friendly and helpful.
