    « Could be a 4-Star »

We stayed one night at this property; on a Saturday. I have Diamond status with the chain. We were allowed early check-in, with out choice of upstairs or downstairs room. The hotel is a complex of buildings. We had a nice corner room, with a view of the garden and swimming pool. The issue was with the door into the building, being at our doorstep. Throughout the night, people were in and out; and each time, the door slams shut. We were unable to have a peaceful night. With taxes, this room was $315. Rooms in the Santa Cruz area are all over-priced. Its a shame we cannot visit our grandson without spending $315 on a hotel for one night. The breakfast was okay; a sit-down restaurant, with a buffet. I would have given 4-stars with a better nights sleep and spending less money.

    « Family vacation »

A great hotel, lots of fresh food in the morning for breakfast, nice resturant, laundry facilities on site, outdoor pool and grass area, close to Ralphs and other stores. Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds, clean linen,t.v's in rooms, jacuzzi by pool.

    « Love this hotel »

Been staying here for 20 years, and still one of my places. Staff is friendly, hotel is clean, the food is great. The location is perfect for visiting capitola. Short walk to beach. Boardwalk is close to. Pool is clean. Love music on the weekends.

« Pretty good, mediocre breakfast »

Generally good hotel with nice pool and jacuzzi. Mediocre breakfast. Limited channel selection and antiquated interface. For two days now there have been dirty wine glasses on the floor in the hall in front of the room next to me. No one bothers to pick up. At check in they give you a free drink ticket for the restaurant. When I try to use the server always forgets to credit to the bill.

    « short stay »

A very pleasant stay. We are locals and need a place to stay while our house was being worked on. This is the place! Everything we needed was here. including a good restaurant , pleasant out door patio with koi to watch, lots of parking!

    « R & R »

Had a great relaxing stay at the Best Western Seacliff Inn located in Aptos. Loved the entertainment and outside seating for eating and cocktails. Complimentary breakfast is very good. Great to have wi-fi.

    « Unacceptable experience »

If you enjoy no pool towels, a spa packed with teens, trashy smokers by the pool, music from a terrible cover band that is super audible in your room, and drunk people yelling outside your room at all hours of the night this is your place. Seriously for the money...choose literally anything else. I am super thankful that we only booked one night here, because I doubt I will be sleeping much tonight.

    « A great spot to rest »

Was in Aptos for the funeral of one of my closest friends and was really wiped out.. while this hotel was pretty much a regular hotel.. the Bed was sooo comfy and it had a nice pool.. the free breakfast was a bit grim but you can also order, and pay, from the menu which looked quite good.. i am happy to stay here any time!

    « Recovering »

Our group was in need of 3 rooms at the very last minute and the staff was extremely accommodating and provided options on a very busy Saturday at the hotel. As background I called many of the surrounding hotels and not one was able to fulfill my request or give me options. The hotel is located just off the Pacific Coast Highway and there is a very good restaurant on the property. I will submit a separate review for it but I mention it because it was nice not having to leave after a long day and enjoy a very good meal and live entertainment. The room was clean and I (we) had a good nights rest. I'm sorry I didn't take note of the individual names of the staff but I was impressed on how they handle our situation.

    « Leisure »

Like the courtyard view and patio. Great breakfast selection and close to beach by car. Good location to other amenities like Capitola and Santa Cruz. Had dinner at the restaurant and it was very good.

« Spring break with Kids »

My kids and I stayed here on our way to Santa Cruz from Monterey. The hotel is right off of the Highway. Rooms were average, however they have a heated pool, the kids loved. A fish pond with a wooden bridge over the pond, next to the restaurant. The breakfast is above average for continental, it was amazing. We had dinner there as well, by the pond listing to the live band. You forget your at a best Western. Completely family friendly or even suitable for couples. Highly recommend this place.

    5
    « Phenomenal restaurant »

This is an adorable hotel to stay in however the most important part would be the restaurant. The food is phenomenal and the service is fantastic, Rihanna was our server, as you sit outside and enjoy the quoit pond. My husband and I have spent two meals there on our short one week vacation from Florida. We highly recommend the restaurant at this quaint hotel.

    5
    « Family Friendly Hotel »

We stay at Best Western because we know it's family friendly. We like Best Western Aptos and have stayed there many times because of the area. It's close to the ocean and other things. Our children liked it and now our grandchildren enjoy it as well. They have recently added more upgrades (lobby, pool area and rooms). Overall, it is an excellent value. Good breakfast (free) and Happy Hour has a great steak salad that you can eat poolside. The kids like the Happy Hour hamburgers and fries if you can get them out of the pool.

« Santa Cruz Boardwalk Trip »

It was a very nice stay! Room is spacious and clean, beds are comfortable, there's a fridge in the room but no microwave; you can get a microwave upon request. Complimentary hot/cold breakfast, which we enjoyed. We will definitely stay again when we visit Santa Cruz/San Jose area!

    « Overall comfortable stay »

Whenever I travel, when looking for a hotel I tend to gravitate more toward Best Westerns. They seem to uphold a certain standard of quality that I feel I can count on. I like to think I'm a pretty easy going traveler as well; rooms need to be clean, relatively odorless, and free of bugs and/or pests. This particular stay, like past Best Western visits, was just fine. I visited at the end of March 2018. Check-in was relatively easy. Tip: Make sure you know your license plate before checking in (as they require that information). Room was clean and comfortable. As mentioned in prior reviews, no elevators, but that doesn't bother me at all. I didn't partake in the included breakfast nor the perks I received for being a Premium Member, but I'm certain they would have been very nice. Checkout was just as easy. My only complaint was that the room RIGHT next to the stairwell can be very noisy as people are traveling up and down the stairs. Maybe a flaw in the building design, but besides posting a sign in the stairwell, not really something that the hotel can avoid. If you're a light sleeper and plan to sleep in late, might request a room away from the stairs (or bring earplugs). Wasn't bad enough for me to downgrade the rating. Thanks for a great stay. Will likely return.

« Great place and great value! »

This hotel is very nice with many amenities for a really great price. We stayed for 3 nights and were very pleased. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have every had, and consistently good each day. The hot tub was nice and clean and hot and functional. We would stay here again for sure!

    3
« Check and double check your reservation and hotel charges »

Check on your reservation before you arrive and also double check the dates while checking in. Their desk staff are careless and make frequent foolish mistakes with dates, but those have big consequences for you the customer. Also be sure to check restaurant charges-- we had a restaurant charge of $79 entered on our hotel bill, but when they put through the credit card charge, they entered it as $97. We won't be back to this BW where we stayed during our home remodel, and neither will we put up guests there in the future.

    4
« Great breakfast and free parking! »

The staff was very friendly and professional. They paid attention to all my requests that I listed in my reservation (higher floor & microwave in room). They also allowed me to check in early the day of, I just had to call the front desk at noon the day of, when the staff arrived. Also, the breakfast is legit including hot items like bacon, sausage, and potatoes. Not just cereal. Also, quality juices, not the cheap boxed kind. I didn't get a chance to eat in the restaurant but the menu had a great variety.

    3
« Average stay. Average hotel. »

Great location. Quiet except for the extremely noisy air conditioning/heating unit in the room (ok if you don't need it). Well used rooms and not super comfortable beds. Service staff is very friendly and helpful, but service overall is inconsistent.

    « Subpar....will be the last visit »

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 20 year's. Last night will be the last. Nearly everything about the stay was subpar: cost, customer service, room/building, spa, towels, sheets, breakfast, checkout. First paid for pool view and requested (a month ago) lower floor as we were hoping to be able to walk off patio to pool. The week before I called to remove 1 night from our 2 night visit. Arrive, and the cost of our 1 Sunday night was prorated to 2/3 the cost of both nights. Now I know Friday and Saturdays are more, but why was Sunday $200 if the total for both  Sunday and Monday was only $300? Checked in around 5pm, waited while gentleman ahead of me is given 6 rooms to choose from, majority are down stairs and he wants upstairs. Couple mins later he makes his selection and I'm up. I get assigned an upstairs. I make a second request for a downstairs and am told none are available. Weird as I just heard 4 downstairs offered to man before me. I take room even though it is about $50 more than expected and not as requested. They need a car description, I write it down. Mossing my license plate. She refuses to issue parking pass without it. Its windy and raining at the moment. No offer to have me call it in to her from room. Walk out in rain and crowed parking lot for license plate number( apparently the on site restaurant was having a banquet which left no parking spots up front). Receptionist mentioned quick email checkout for tomorrow and I plan on that. Lug our bags upstairs(hotel does not have elevators), hallway stinks, like 50 year old dirty old smokers house stink. Open room, smell not as bad but still lingering. Call immediately to see if there are other options....told only 1 other room in same building (by same women who just offered previous gentlemen several rooms). Hang up, whatever, its only 1 night right? Room is clean and orderly, just smells. Go to pool, it's February so it's chilly out, spa is luke warm. Dissapointing. Pool towels are glorified cheap hand towels. Decide to go back to room. Water pressure in shower sucks(pretty typical in California hotels) along with the temperature control in room and we were cold from spa and our walk back to upstairs room. Turn on TV. Channels are going in and out of reception. Turn it off. Get under covers to sleep. Sheets are old, thin and pilling, mattress lumpy. Gross. Wake up in the morning and go to breakfast. Its 9am, breakfast ends at 9:30. EVERYTHING is cold, eggs, sausage, French toast. Toaster broken and they ran out of flavored creamer. Go back to room. Its 1055 check out is 11. Grab paper that mentioned quick email checkout. No directions. Check email. Nothing. Go to website and open reservation, no check out options. Call front desk, they immediately put me on hold. I assume they are busy. Wait on hold a few minutes then hang up. It was going to be faster to just check out the old fashion way. Walk into office a minute later, expecting a crowd. Three women are working, only one is actually helping someone. I am the only other person in the office. She asks how my stay was. My face, I'm sure says awful. She says "good?". I say not really. She asks if I am leaving it on the original card and that was that. Took my receipt and left....and will not return. There are much better hotels, and staff in the area.

    « Loved this place! »

Stayed here with my kids, 8 & 10. We found it to be a special place! The koi pond was very cool! My kids loved it. Even in February we were able to swim in the heated pool and use the hot tub. We had dinner at their restaurant and that was great! Our server was super nice. And, breakfast (included) was pretty fab! We will be back!

    5
« Great location, breakfast and room. »

Great full hot breakfast included with tasty coffee. Beautifully kept property, neat landscaping and pool area. Bed was comfortable. Nice restaurant and bar on site. Room service is available. Guest computer and printer in lobby.

« This is the best Best Western we have ever visited. »

Good happy hour. The restaurant has good local fish and the bar and live music gives you no reason to leave to go out any where else at night. Best complimentary hot breakfast buffet with a large variety of choices. We had a blast!

    « Favorite getaway »

This was our 4th or 5th stay. We absolutely love it at Best Western Seacliff any time of the year. Always clean rooms, the pool area is great, the breakfast is incredible and we usually eat at Severino's because we like the food and the service is great. The staff throughout the hotel can't be beat!!! We will be back again sometime soon.

    5
« Great get away spot »

Beautiful grounds and rooms. Bed was super comfortable. Right off the freeway but we didn't hear any noise. There's a pond and a bridge to walk over. Excellent breakfast. Great place for a weekend getaway. No elevators though!

« Wonderful staff and wonderful place »

My stay at the best western seacliff inn was amazing. There was nothing I could've asked for differently. I got guided to my tower via employee and map. Was told which side was closer for parking and had a great view of the pool. Front desk was awesome, couldn't ask for a better trip.

« One of our favorite Best Western Hotels in CA »

We have stayed here several times when traveling the California coast. The hotel and grounds are just lovely. From Severino's restaurant, where breakfast is served, you look out over a lovely patio and koi pond with a bridge. The grounds landscaping around the pool are well kept. The location in Aptos is perfect to access Santa Cruz nearby. Had a very restful and enjoyable stay.

    4
    « Nice Location »

Nice garden area, fish pond, clean and great food. Staff was pleasant and friendly. Close to ocean and beach. Good security. Shopping near by. Would recommend to anyone. I little pricey for a Best Western.

    « Loyal Employees »

We use to stay at this Best Western frequently but haven't for awhile. It was nice to come back and see employees that have stayed with the company. It was even nicer to feel well taken care of by these employees. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. They have updated the paint, pool area, and carpets.

    « Consistently good »

We have stayed at Seacliff Inn a number of times over the past 10 yrs. The service and grounds, rooms have been consistently good. The breakfast, like other BW, is varied and good. It helps to have a good breakfast while on the road and on the grounds. The grounds, rooms are very quiet yet its close to the freeway and services. There are 4? separate buildings which also keeps noise down. The restaurant is very good too.

« Best Western, Best Stay »

We try to stay at the Best Western hotels where ever we are traveling. The reasons are. Reasonable rates, same comfort in all motels, good free breakfasts, nice pools and hot tubs, friendly staff, and our points give us free rooms. We have stayed in Scotland, Boston, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Mexico, and other locations. We like the continuity of these motels.

    5
    « don't tell »

this bw is a jewel. i'm not telling. its my secert if i say any more you might investigate my favorite place to stay in the santa cruz area. don't go there stay away it is mine go to Monteray or go home and let your wife cook for you. this restaruant is mine too.

« We LOVE the Seacliff Inn! »

Our family has come to this hotel for the last 15 years, and we love it here. So welcoming and family-friendly as well. The staff is extremely helpful and kind- from the front desk to the restaurant staff and Management. Can't wait to come back!

    5
« Great value a long stone's throw from the beach »

Easy access off the highway here and a 10-minute walk to Aptos's funky, old-time, non chi-chi coast. Spacious room, generous full breakfast you'd pay $15 for elsewhere, nice all-seasons-heated-pool with adjoining hot tub, pleasant little sitting patios outside each room. Much enjoyed our stay and would return in a heartbeat next time we're in the area.

    5
    « Wonderful Room »

The room was clean and appeared to have been newly remodeled. All of the amenities worked well. The room was very quiet. The staff was pleasant and efficient. A free breakfast is offered and this is a real benefit. The town of Aptos is very charming. The hotel is easy to find as it is close to the freeway.

    5
    « Ye »

We stayed here because the hotels near Monterey were too expensive. Very nice place. The complimentary breakfast was a step above complimentary. The bar/lounge was a bunch of old-Tymers... probably locals. But the room was nice. We had a patio sliding door. The pool view rooms are more expensive but you give up privacy as your patio door faces the pool. Room was pretty clean except for some spider webs. Make-up wipes provided in room along with toiletries. Rooms are a bit small and you can hear through the wall... but not an issue for us. The outdoor decor was really nice. I would definitely stay here again!!

    5
    « Nice »

Our go to hotel when we are in Santa Cruz. Easily accessible and central for us. Our family is in Aptos. We love the patios! The place seems intimant even though the grounds are spacious! We'll be back!

    4
    « Nice stay »

We like staying here, as it is close to our family. Very quiet and good food. My complaint is in general to all the hotels in the area, they are very expensive and I will do more research on the other hotels.

    5
    « Best Service Ever! »

My husband and I rented the conference room to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had a live band, they provided buffet dinner and no host bar. Everything was perfect. The service, the food, the entertainment. You can't go wrong here.

    « somewhat unsatisfied. »

Staff not so friendly, room did not get cleaned up after we stated to give us a little more time for us to leave the room, cleaning staff never came back to clean the room. They gave us room next to a room where children were crying at early morning hours, could not get much rest. Breakfast was good

    « Visiting Santa Cruz.... »

We decided to see the ocean while on a business trip by spending the weekend in Santa Cruz. After booking a hotel in SC, we changed to Aptos for a quieter environment and near the ocean. We were so tired we could not drive to dinner the first evening so ate at Severino's. Great squid steak and lamb! Enjoyed the quiet room with all the right amenities in room to let us rest and enjoy our stay.

    « Hidden gem »

Boy, was this place a sight for sore eyes. We were having a nightmare trying to travel south after leaving San Francisco. There had been an accident on Route 1 with 3 hour delays, then the next day a huge portion had been closed due to new fires in the Santa Cruz area so yet again we had to turn back and go all the way back to Monterey. There were no suitable hotels here as we needed an accessible room for my disabled father. We got lost and ended up in Salinas, nothing here. We ended up driving down random main roads and somehow ended up in Altos and out of nowhere this hotel appeared which had an accessible room. I can't give a review of the restaurant or bar as it was gone 2230 by the time we checked in. The room was nice, clean and comfortable and had a very good accessible bathroom. My dad had his first shower in a few days as we had stayed at a couple of hotels that claimed to be accessible but had bathtubs. This hotel had a walk in shower so he had a decent wash. The hotel has a nice outdoor pool and a very pretty wooden bridge over a gorgeous fish pond. You get a free buffet breakfast here, which was very nice as more expensive hotels I've been to charge a fortune for breakfast. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

    3
« Nice motel but overpriced (as are many motels in the area) for several reasons »

We stayed here in mid October in a family suite (1 king, 2 queens). For the price (around $350), we expected a lot more. Instead we got a better than average motel suite but it was noisy due to the freeway noise - so much so that my husband could not sleep! Also, the room was not too clean - there were hairs and some dirt in the shower/bath which necessitated me cleaning it before I dared to put my toddler in. Plus the drain was very slow so that was disgusting when it came time for the rest of the family to shower. The Master bath tub was a complete waste - an outdated jetted tub with no shower so we were all in the other bathroom for showers. This was room 121 I believe - the 100 block. The next day, the front desk clerk Antonia was very helpful though. She moved us to the 300 block (I think room 329) and offered to have someone help us move. We ended up doing it ourselves. This new room was much better. Furniture/decor not as nice, but at least the room was cleaner (no hairs), and freeway noise, while not entirely gone, much better. Antonia also got us a $50 credit for our trouble which was nice, but we still felt we were overpaying for the noise and quality. The breakfasts were substantial - big hot breakfast buffet which is a bonus if you have a big family. They did keep running out of spoons but had plastic available. The pool was crowded and not heated but a nice plus if you have kids. However, there were no towels when we got there in the late afternoon. The towels looked like dish towels though - they were small! Overall, the Santa Cruz/Aptos area tends to be way over priced for the value of the motels you stay at and this Best Western is the same. However, I would say, it is much nicer than some of those motels near the Boardwalk. Make sure you call in advance and try to request a quieter room if freeway noise bothers you.

    « A lovely stay »

My partner and I were on a family vacation with our three month old, and stayed for four nights. Our room was nice and clean. The breakfast was good and had variety of items. We ate at Severino's the first night and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and we had a great server. You could choose to eat outside by the koi pond which had a waterfall and was beautifully maintained. The pool and hot tub were nice. The reason I'm only giving a four is because we did our laundry on site and the whole time we were there the change machine was broken, and the front desk was also out of change. At one point the washer we were using quit working with our clothes in it and we had to wash them again because they were still soapy. But overall a nice stay.

    5
    « Very Nicely Surprised »

I was in the south Bay area and every hotel was sold out due to some concerts and conventions in town. This place was quite out of the way but had a room so I went there. It was very nice, very peaceful and pretty. Lots of grounds around the center of the hotel, a small fitness center, a fantastic complimentary breakfast in the morning with many options (fruit, muffins, eggs, cereal, tea, coffee, juices, sausage, bacon, breads, etc) and which is all you can eat! I would absolutely stay here again!

    3
« Great Location, Noisy Rooms »

We chose the hotel because of it's proximity to a nearby wedding venue. It was certainly easy to find, and parking is adequate. Freeway noise is minimal; however a loud band played well into the evening (past 10:30 p.m.), and the housekeeping office just across from our room always had the door open and was very loud with banging equipment and shouting employees. The breakfast was adequate (cheesy scrambled eggs, pork sausages, over-salted cubed potatoes, waffles, pastries and bread), though the staff wasn't keeping up with clearing tables and restocking the steam tables on a very busy Sunday morning. I wonder why they use paper cups for coffee since real flatware and plates are used in the restaurant. Seems wasteful and detracts from the experience. The hotel is a very short distance to the nearest beach, so a great location for a family vacation.

    3
    « Nicer quality motel »

A nicer quality motel along Highway 1, quite adequate for a night 's stay, not much more than that. Generally overpriced for what it is. Definitely not a destination place. If you are looking for a vacation getaway spot, look further.

    1
    « Incredibly overpriced »

I have stayed at this hotel at least thirty previous occasions and am quite disgusted as to how the hotel has changed. This hotel changed many policies this year against the convenience of the guest. For instance a night's stay went from $140 average to $290 a night. The check-in time went from 3 pm to 4 pm, check-out time went fro 12 noon to 11 am. The quality of the breakfast and staff support also went down, I will never stay at this location again.

    5
« mY trip to California »

Hotel was very well kept, rooms were good sizes and quiet. Close to Monterey Bay (10 min walk) and the Pacific Ocean, nice breakfast spread to get the day started. There is a grocery store across the street if you need something.

« Pretty good place, outside of Santa Cruz »

I'm a frequent visitor to this area, for many years. This is a decent best western hotel with a restaurant and bar on site that locals use as well. There are great restaurants and bars in the vicinity of the hotel as well. The room was clean, and bed was comfortable. The location is great if you want to be in the Aptos area. The pool area is nice (centrally located) but unfortunately we couldn't use the spa, because it was full of algecide, with the foam billowing up the sides. It also smelled. Some guests did use it. The only other complaint is they have construction workers staying at the hotel, and they get off work and drink and smoke on their patios. Quiet by 10pm, but the smoking was a problem. We noticed 5 different hotel guests smoking out on their balconies at once.....this is supposed to be a non-smoking facility. We told the front desk, and they said they'd inform management. One walk through the property, and you'd be aware of it.

    5
« Second time stay even better than the first! »

Came here on New Year's Eve for their celebration package, and had a blast! Great dinner, plus the live music played classic rock really well! Only suggestion is, perhaps allow for a larger dance floor, it was a bit cramped. The breakfast the next morning was good, and we enjoyed it so much we returned in the summer. Came for an extended weekend in June and our room faced the pool area, but not too close allowing for privacy on our 1st floor patio. We'll come back again, since it's so near the beautiful coast side and the quaint town of Aptos!

    2
« Will definitely not be staying there again. »

Room had a foul odor. Furniture and carpet had stains. Mattress was old and uncomfortable. The hotel staff didn't bother to ask how are stay was at check-out. The first night we requested am extra pillow and blanket which took over an hour to receive.

    4
« Great location and amenities »

2 blocks from the ocean, went running along the ocean. Great centrally located pool for meeting up with other guests. Fun bar, lounge with really great live music. The room needs to be updated, but overall, a fun stay!

Clean rooms and beautiful grounds, helpful and friendly staff, and excellent complete free breakfast. You can't go wrong with this place. I highly recommend Seacliff Inn and I was just super impressed with the hard working staff. You don't see service like this anymore.

Been staying here for almost 20 years every monday on business. I would not consider any other place because this place is perfect, free drink after a long day, great food and pricing, fantastic breakfast...well maintained landscaping and pool.

« Beautiful landscaping and great restaurant/bar on site. »

This place is a little more than other but having the atmosphere of the restaurant and lounge is great. The landscaping around the pool is so pretty. Pretty pond near outside eating area. Very surprised once you check in and see what's behind it all!

    « What you'd expect »

We spent a night here as part of a group of guests for an offsite wedding. Pick up and delivery van service made the decision easy. This was a higher end Best Western, with lovely grounds, right off the highway. Small low-rise buildings with hotel rooms, parking behind each, beach nearby, self-serve breakfast.

« Great place to stay! »

Plush grounds, pretty koi pond over bridge near pool and great restaurant. Morning breakfast buffet is better than most. Open until 9:30 Lots of toppings for oatmeal, my favorite. Also order from the menu. During and after buffet. Full service hotel. Beautifully lit at night. Nice people. Good locale. Good service.

« Gateway to the beach »

This place was fantastic and is the closest to the beach and great dining in the restaurant. They have live music. Great food and wonderful staff. We went to the beach and came back to the hotel and had dinner. It was great. Happy hour is awesome.

    « Lovely Find »

We were wine tasting in the Santa Cruz Mtns. and found the BW Seacliff to be within a reasonable distance. Besides being relatively close to wine tasting in the redwoods, you are close to costal towns like Capitola. The rooms were good quality but the Koi pond and landscaping were quite enjoyable. It was pleasant sitting outside for breakfast, happy hour and dinner.

    « Excellent stay »

We stayed for two nights in August with our 2 yo son, and the only we can say is that it was an excellent stay. When we arrived for check-in, a friendly and helpful person in the front desk welcomed us and did the process very quick. We were informed of all the services in the hotel, and helped us with a couple of doubts. Room was spacious, with comfortable beds, coffee machine, refrigerator, safety box, LCD TV... but the most important, and this is the main highlight of all the facilities in the hotel, was the cleanliness. Spotless. In addition, this is a very quiet place, where it's difficult to hear any loud sound. Parking just at the door of your room, perfect wifi signal everywhere, and tasty and varied breakfast. Our little son loved breakfast sit close to the water where he could see the fishes swimming. One morning, as it was a little bit cold, without ordering it, they brought a stove to keep us warm. Great detail that makes this place even better (if possible). This hotel has its own restaurant (Severino's). We had dinner here one night, and it was simply delicious, with great service and great food as well. They offer a self-laundry service that it was very convenient for us, as we need to wash some clothes for the child. Very clean and well manteined. Beautiful swimming pool, but we did not swim there finally (not time enough for everything). If staying in the area, is the perfect place to explore it. You are close to the beach, 10 minutes driving to Santa Monica, or 30 minutes to 17 mile drive, for example. I would like to highlight the kindness and symphaty of absolutely all the staff. They made our stay from great to excellent. I would repeat again without any doubt.

« Excellent Hotel - Great for Whale Watching nearby ! »

We booked this hotel to stay overnight prior to visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is just a 30 min drive away - We wish we could have stayed longer ! The rooms are arranged in blocks around a pool area, each block being two stories. Some rooms face the car park, whilst others overlook the pool - All have a patio or balcony. If you have issues with stairs book a downstairs room as there is no lift, however you can park your car right outside making carrying luggage easy. The hotel restaurant has a 'Happy Hour' in early evening, and you can sit either inside with windows overlooking the pond with Koi Carp in, or on the terrace next to the pond. The swimming pool and hot tub are great and just a short walk to the room. Over the road is a gas station and several shops, and just a short drive away is Aptos Beach which was very clean with free parking. It was here that we saw our first whale which was just off shore. We also got to see Pelicans and other birdlife. This is a great hotel in an great location - We hope to visit again one day !

« A good choice with the budget in mind »

« Best Western Seacliff Inn »

I stayed at the hotel for while in the area for work. It's a very good hotel and great value for the price. The restaurant and patio were a great place to spend the evenings. The hotel has close proximity to the state park and the beach for walking / hiking.

    5
« WEEKEND AT SEACLIFF INN »

The Seacliff Inn provides quality service by a helpful staff. It is located in a lovely area a half mile from Seacliff State Park and minutes from Santa Cruz and Capitola. Excellent buffet breakfast . Nice pool and a pond with fish.

    « Dingy »

This hotel is located in the beautiful city of Aptos in Santa Cruz County about a 1 - 2 miles from the beach. There are very few hotels in this specific area of the city, so they seem to be able to charge what they want for the mid to low quality rooms. The carpet was old and dirty, the bathrooms are dated, and the patios facing the parking lot are dark and dirty. Additionally, the front desk staff seemed rather indifferent to questions. As someone that travels quite a bit, I would look at different brand hotels, outside of this city, during my next stay.

    5
« Clean, Great service and Amenities! »

Such a good find! Checked out of the most expensive resort in the area due to filthy ocean view suite accommodations, and into a totally remodeled, clean, fresh room which was very comfortable. Free wifi, parking, amazing full breakfast, generous happy hour and friendly service, was so appreciated. The on site restaurant, Severino's, had very good food and outside dining by the koi pond was a plus. Our room had multiple phone chargers, nightlights, sterilized remote tv control system, nice patio with pool view. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

    2
    « Massively overpriced »

A 2 star hotel at a 5 star price. Old carpets, good pool and location. Gouged on price in August, since it looked worn, slightly dingy and had the amenities you would expect in a Motel6, not a place that costs $320/night. Old carpets and dingy paint. Adequate breakfast and service.

    5
« Get together with family »

My wife and myself are always very pleased with this hotel. This time around it was more expensive because that all there was available but we were very pleased with it. The hotel staff is always very attentive.

« Wonderful but very pricey! »

We love Seacliff Inn. Not sure we can stay again, the rates were raised by about 1/3 from our stay two years ago! The amenities are good for families with children, and family groups. This was our second family trip to Seacliff Inn. It feels safe for the children, the grounds are lovely.

« Great place to stay »

This Best Western is one of the better hotels I've stayed out. The staff is very helpful, the restaurant (Severino's) is excellent. Overall my experience at this hotel was awesome! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great place just a few miles south of Santa Cruz. Great location; easy access to Hwy 101. Very pleasant staff; the hotel grounds were immaculate. Dined in lounge/bar 2 nights and service/food were great. King room was spacious and clean.

    « Location »

The Best Western Seacliff is adjacent to Hwy 1 and across the street from Seacliff Beach. The amenities are good and the Hotel is clean. The complimentary breakfast was nice with options for outside or interior dining. The restaurant food is very good and a full bar is available even for breakfast drinks if one desires.

    « Family beach getaway »

The hotel was a great location near the beach & not too far from Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The breakfast was way better than continental offered elsewhere & the beds were super comfy and rooms were clean!

    « Disatified Stay »

I stay here often. It is perfect for my business trips in the area. No frills, but clean, comfortable beds, free breakfast, and generally a helpful staff. This time was a bit different. In the middle of my stay they informed me that I would need to transfer rooms and my rate would more than double. Without previous notice of the rate change, they then informed me that they could easily book the room at that rate due to some large event that was occurring in the area.

    5
    « Pleasant experience »

We four (parents and two near-adult teenagers) enjoyed two nights here during the busy vacation season. The rates were reasonable and the hotel was easily accessible to the freeway. Though full of vacationing people who were enjoying themselves, there was no inconvenience due to noise or service. The breakfast room was nearly full during the entire breakfast time, but there was never any lack of coffee or food. The food was well prepared and quite tasty considering the situation. The attendants provided excellent service in keeping the tables bused and serving dishes filled. We'd stay here again.

« Not as good as usual »

Room not completely cleaned. eg dusting, mirrors, dirty dishes by pool too long, great family place but still should be kept up.Beds in our room had no support, great location for Boardwalk & pool time..perhaps clean hot tub during day instead of once, lot of dirt in it

I was so impressed with the grounds, I loved all the plants and flowers. It was so relaxing to walk around. We stayed there for a Volley Ball Tournement. A must do while you are there is eat at Burgers Oh MY! Best food ever and it is not far from this Best Western

    5
« Very nice hotel within a mile or so walk from the beach »

Nice, clean, well laid out property. Perfect, centrally located heated pool. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio and a large koi pond with waterfall. The free breakfast is good and the overall cost is reasonable. We only stayed 1 night but if I were travelling with my kids, I would think they would love the pool and with the layout it would be very convenient to go back and forth to the pool and restaurant and pretty much any room. The grounds are well maintained and if I didn't know any better, I would have easily believed it was a more expensive resort. We were there on July 6th and while the weather wasn't very hot, the place had guests but was not very crowded at all making for a more pleasant experience.

« Excellent service and location »

I am an Elite member of Best Western Rewards as well as a Gold member of Hotels.com. I had a few free nights to redeem from my rewards with Hotels.com and decided to use them to book this hotel for my 2 night stay in Aptos. I booked and paid for a separate room for friends as well. The price is definitely a bit steep due to the Santa Cruz beach area and less than a mile from Seacliff State Beach. If you find a hotel less than $200 in the area it will be a run down motor lodge motel. Not too many good chains so the Best Western was the best choice that included balconies and patios for all rooms. The landscape is dreamy and garden like, including a koi pond with wooden bridge. I recommend a second-floor room because the first floor patios are completely open with no fenced off privacy as other guests walk by. I had the Jr Queen Suite that included a microwave where as the 2 queen standard room for my friends only had a mini fridge. If you're a Best Western Rewards member you may receive two $5 off coupons for drinks in the hotel bar. The bartender was awesome and made perfect drinks. Best time is 3-6pm for happy hour specials. Checkin staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel is spread out in 6 buildings that circle the courtyard. They all require your key card for access which makes this place extra safe. Exterior stairs for each as there are no elevators. The "no view" room options overlook the parking lot but offer more privacy for your balcony and patio. Pool view overlooks the pool and courtyard. Building 1 and 2 have highway noise if you're facing the parking lot. Morning buffet breakfast was better than most hotels offering better quality hot food. The Serverino's restaurant in the lobby is also open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as room service ordering. Overall the rooms are a tad smaller than other Best Westerns but I would definitely return on future trips. I've uploaded a few pics of the Jr suite.

    « Noisy and dirty »

There is that plays loud dance music until 11:30 at night. Some people like to go back to their rooms and continue the party like our neighbors did. They finally stopped at 1:30 a.m. when I got up and asked them to keep it down. We had four people in our party but they gave us only three bath towels two of which had hair in them. The extra blanket also had hair in it. Not worth the money for the quality of product they provide. Save yourself the trouble and stay in Monterey or Santa Cruz.

« Visiting family in the area »

This was our second time to stay at the lovely BW Seacliff. The grounds are particularly lovely. I enjoy walking around and enjoying the flowers. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The connecting restaurant is wonderful and is also the venue for the complementary breakfast.

    « Great Place »

Hotel is clean and has a great staff. We ordered quite a big order for room service and they were quick and food was great. Location is great as it's close to beach, stores and bank. Will definitely recommend this hotel to family of 6.

    « Unhappy »

Not enjoyable on this trip. Cigarette butts on our patio made it impossible to enjoy the beautiful weather in Aptos, California. People walking around smoking was definitely not healthy to breathe. Not good

    5
    « Very Nice Hotel »

I had a short stay at this hotel, but was extremely pleased with everything. I look forward to returning for a longer stay! The room and grounds were very clean and the patio area nicely landscaped. I very much enjoyed my stay.

« Mediocre Hotel With Nice Landscaping and Pool »

My family stayed here for two nights for a wedding at a nearby park. We were very disappointed with our stay. Inadequate soundproofing in rooms so you heard TV sets and bass from other rooms. Hallway and rooms had musty odor and needed ventilation.Rooms were in need of more modern decor. Breakfast was pretty good. Pool and grounds were nice. However, given the high price of rooms ($270 a night for a double), I would suggest saving the $100 a night and going to holiday inn or similar, which would likely be a better stay.

« The ants go marching in One by One hurrah hurrah!! »

The hotel had a serious ant problem in our room, building 4. The ants were on the walls, the towels, the floor in the bathroom and dressers. We called the front desk to ask for a new room, but after being put on hold numerous times, I was told the hotel was sold out. The manager was not available to speak with us, finally we were offered a King bed with roll away for my children. This room was 320.00 a night. I paid for a premium experience and wanted my 9 and 13 year old to be comfortable, so we had booked a 2 queen room. They had little concern at the front desk for our experience. They offered to send a maintenance guy up at 10:30 pm to use soap and water to clean up the ants. Hello, don't you think I tried that myself, they continued to appear after we cleaned them up several times, now it was approaching 11 pm and the manger never called us. We had no choice but to sleep here over night. It was creepy. YUCK! is all I can say. We notified the front desk that night we would be checking out the next morning and not staying 2 nights as planned. The manager was still not there in the morning and we were told she would contact us. We did find out she called our home number and left a message a week later, when we got back home we called Debbie P. back , but again she failed to call back. The hotel does not care about its guests, the do have a nice pool and grounds but the most important things are a clean room and nice beds but mostly no bugs in the room. We found a Ramada in the area for 150.00 less a night that had both. I would never stay here again, the hotel has many good reviews, so this is why we stayed, but when an issue arises and no manager cares the truth must be told. Stay somewhere else the value here is poor , it is over priced and uncaring. We still have not been contacted by the hotel.

« This hotel saved the day! »

Where to start.. hmmm... this hotel was incredible! We booked a few nights over at another hotel that was awful and promised things that they did not deliver! The sea cliff Inn, on the other hand, exceeded our expectations. Our room was beautiful, overlooking the pool and gardens. The restaurant had a very impressive menu with an even better HH menu. The front desk crew, especially Brenda, were accommodating and went the extra mile to treat us well. The grounds of this hotel were impeccably kept and you'd have NO idea you were in the location you were in because the hotel grounds made you feel as if you were at a 4-star tropical resort! Great Job, guys! We will be back!

    5
« Seacliff Inn is the best!!! »

Even for locals! The staff is amazing!! The rooms are clean, the pool is great, the food is amazing, hot and consistent, they have an outside patio that looks on to a Koi pond. A diverse menu. Did I mention a amazing staff??? That's the best part!

    « Aptos Weekend! »

Room not cleaned due to Housekeeping not coming back. Front desk attitude was not helpful at all. Told that if you put a "Do Not Disturb Sign" at anytime, they do not come back to clean the room. Otherwise it is a great hotel.

    5
    « Great hotel »

This hotel was a surprise, because it was nicer than I expected. Older hotel but very well maintained with beautiful gardens all around and a waterfall and koi pond. The bed was comfortable and the staff was wonderful, from check in to breakfast to check out. The only drawback is no elevators in the buildings so if you don't like stairs ask for a first floor room.

always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable & more than happy to help and go out of the way to make your stay pleasant. ive been staying in best westerns for a long time and now with rewards, makes me even want to get a room even more. ;) the resorts, best western, ive stood in are above some high end names ive been to this is why we always use best western and my kids love the amenities & breakfast. The lay out of the hotel was beautiful and peaceful. As was the landscaping. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. You could sit outdoors by the Koi pond and enjoy your breakfast. My only complaint was with the breakfast staff, no smiles. All very grumpy.

    « Disappointed »

We were placed in ADA room, had to ask for our room to be cleaned and once cleaned waited over an hour and a half for another towel because they didn't replenish us with enough. No replenishment of shampoo, conditioner or soap either. Love this hotel, not this stay.

    « 2 night stay »

This BW is a good clean place to stay while visiting the santa cruz area. The breakfast was very good and pool area was nice. My only complaint was the noise from the hallways could be excessive - had loud kids in the room next door.

    « Great Memories! »

The BW Sea Cliff Inn has been our place to stay while our daughter attended UCSC. This past weekend, I reserved several rooms for family members joining us for her graduation. I want to thank the front desk and housekeeping staff for doing their best, after a sold out night and late check-outs, to prepare our rooms for early check-in. We truly appreciate the efforts by all involved. Our group had just enough time to get ready and make the 5:30 graduation ceremony. The rooms are always clean, the breakfast hearty, the grounds beautiful, and the staff very professional. We have enjoyed dinners at Severino's Bar and Grill on our previous stays and the restaurant was able to accommodate our large group for a lovely celebration dinner after graduation. Although we will not be visiting the Santa Cruz area as frequently now that our daughter has graduated, when we do we will look forward to staying here again and will definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Thank you Sea Cliff Inn for some great memories!!

    5
    « An awesome facility »

Everything about the Seacliff Inn is exceptional; the layout of the rooms, the ease of parking near your room, the location, the beautiful gardens, and the excellent restaurant. It's almost like staying at a resort. I just hope to have an opportunity to stay here again.

    5
    « Beautiful and convenient »

The grounds are beautiful with lots of greenery, water fall by the outdoor seating area at the restaurant and rooms are very clean and updated. The hotel was a bit more expensive than was we normally pay for a Best Western, but I assume it's because it's Summer and close to the ocean. I would recommend this location.

    « Beautiful Landscaping »

An older hotel but well kept. The landscaping was beautiful and walking from the outer buildings to the breakfast area was pleasantly fragrant! The breakfast was outstanding with an amazing assortment of potatoes, eggs, sausage, waffles, french toast, pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc. My room had a refrigerator but no microwave. The bed was comfortable and the room clean.

    « Lovely Hotel »

We stayed here for 3 nights; we were in the area for a family wedding. The location was very convenient for our events in Santa Cruz and La Selva. Also loved the recreational opportunities close by -- Seacliff Beach State Park about 6 blocks (an easy walk) and Nisene Marks State Park with easy hiking in an interesting 2nd growth redwoods forest (5 minute drive).

Everyone here is so friendly! Checking in and out was very quick, the restaurant was great, so was the room service. I would definitely recommend staying here, and will personally be staying here again.

« Attractive well located hotel »

This hotel offers a great value with an excellent location. It is not a 5 star resort, but the access to the beaches and right off the highway location make it a great stop. Breakfast and onsite lounge are real pluses and if you are a "foody" there are excellent restaurants locally that are worth a stop.

    4
    « Wonderful!! »

Beautiful grounds, amazing breakfast with a great staff keeping everything stocked. Very busy for breakfast-get there early! Maid service was wonderful and folded my kids blankets with their stuffed animals snuggled into the bed. Pool is fantastic, with lots of fun for kids and adults. You can get food/drinks brought over to pool area, we even brought in a pizza from a local place and ate while the kiddos swam. Clean coin operated laundry room (we didn't use since we had friends who lived nearby). Fish pond was beautiful! Highly recommend this wonderful place!

« Trip to Santa Cruz »

We went on a anniversary trip to the Santa Cruz area in May. We reserved a room for one night at the Best Western Sea Cliff Inn in Aptos, Ca. The hotel is right up the street from the beach. We had a ground floor room with a small patio just a few feet from the parking lot which made access to our car very easy. Our room was very clean and the king size bed very comfortable. There is a very nice restaurant on the premises and a Koy pond with several Koy that come up to the top of the water with the mouths open waiting to be fed. (unfortunately you are not supposed to feed them). The grounds were beautifully landscaped with a nice pool and spa in the center of the complex. Overall this is a great place to stay, especially for the price.

    « My Godson's wedding »

The hotel went out of their way to do a meet and greet and were very helpful as the family members came from all around to celebrate the occasion. The location was great. We were able to take in some site-seeing while we were there and had a lotf fun just wandering the town. Their were so many activities to do and the brochures in the lobby helped us plan our days that were free.

« One of the best locally »

Quiet and zen ambience. The lounge is too close to the Restaurant. Live music drownds the eating experience wishing you would make them stop playing. Close to grocery, fuel, State camp grounds, and beaches.

    5
« Friendly staff and beautiful views »

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodated myself and my guests as we were in a hurry to get to a wedding nearby. I was also blown away with the cleanliness of the lounge and breakfast buffet that was served in the morning. Will be staying here again in the future!

    3
    « Beautiful grounds »

Had a three night business stay here. The grounds are beautiful, but everything else is what you would find at a basic Best Western. The rooms, for the most part are clean and comfortable. Each has an outdoor seating area. I was disappointed to see bits of mold in the grout in the shower. It is overpriced for what you get, but you are paying for the location.

    5

Stayed here for 4 nights for a wedding. The rooms are atill kind of dated, but well kept. The grounds and swimming pool area are always wonderful. The staff, from the front desk to the night guard were all very professional. Many of the guest that we talkrd to wrer from the immediate area. Which soeaks volumes about the place.

Take care of the bed mites! Also, instruct staff to close outside door of building as bugs come in, and come into the room. Please, instruct kitchen staff to keep food warm for breakfast. Food was not very warm

Great place for families or romantic get away. On-site restaurant and full bar, live band was awesome and breakfast in the morning was hot and plenty of options to choose from. Pool eas heated and they even offer poolside delivery from restaurant. Beach was a 2 min drive away.

    « Pros and Cons »

I rated this very good, because it was clean, was very quiet, staff was great, and the grounds outstanding.....very decent and clean pool and hot tub. The full breakfast was plentiful and had a very good variety of choices. The bed was comfortable and the little patio with chairs was nice for visiting. What I was disappointed in was the room size. It was certainly smaller than what I had viewed online, and it was cramped with three of us. the vanity was itty bitty and not larger enough for 3 females, needing mirrors, hair dryers, etc. We had 2, queen size beds and one bed was about 5 inches from the heater, air conditioner. We got stuffy and hot during the night because we couldn't safely crack open the slider door for air. If the air went on, it was so noisy, it would wake you up. There were suites available with lots more room, but way too pricey for a 2 night stay. But, on the positive side, we walked to a cute shopping center ( Aptos Squre ? ) and perused cute shoes. There is a gas station, Safeway and amazing shoe / clothing store across the street. It was a good place to be and spoke out to the beach, restaurants, Capitola, Sequel and areas for sight seeing and shopping and eating. I would stay agin, just not with 3 or four in the room.

When I went to bed at night I pulled down the sheets and crawled in. I rolled over and felt something wet. I reached down and it was a strip of toilet paper in the bed that was wet. It had to have been left there from the previous people. How gross is that. I have no clue why it was wet or even in the bed but I know the maid did not clean it up. I slept on top of the covers for the next two nights. My husband did not go on the trip with me and prepaid for my room. His credit card was on fill. When I got there, they made me leave my card on file also. I did not like this.

« Great family hotel close to the beach »

Our family loves this hotel! Though it is a bit dated, it is clean and comfortable. The hotel staff is very helpful, and we always enjoy the pool and breakfast. It is well worth it to be within 2 miles of the beach.

« Best ... as in Best Western »

Love this hotel, children in Aptos. Grounds are resort quality. Beautiful inside and out!!! Room service convenient, constant attention. Beds very comfortable . Have been able to use rewards for one night stay this trip.

« Easy Access Located by The Beach »

This hotel offers all the amenities that you need for your stay at a reasonable price considering other hotels. It is located right off 101 freeway. It is a mile walk to the beach. The surrounding beach cities like, Capitola are easy to get to which made this overnight stay a good choice for me. The room was clean. The only issue with my room was the lack of sound proofing. I was hearing not only loud quests into the night but actual snoring from the next room. That is a bit much. The bed itself was comfortable. There is a small pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast that is included was nice and had a great assortment to choose from even french toast. At checkout, I was told that only part of the hotel has been upgraded with the soundproofing and this is a property that is over 30 years old. I asked for a discount and was granted one.

    « Great location »

We stay here once a year. Location is central to the places we visit. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sevarino's is a great restaurant. Hotel is clean and reasonably priced for the area. We will be back.

« My home away from home »

I travel often, sometimes alone, and it is a great, place to stay - don't have to get dressed to go out for dinner - Great restaurant on premise. Like the Koi ponds and outside dining. Great breakfast. I feel safe in this hotel nestled out of site of freeways. They have a great band & dancing on the week-ends, and special occasions. Great winding sidewalks with lush vegetation & flowers and private patios. Sorry, pets not allowed.

« Very relaxing, nice place to stay »

Great place to stay either visiting or business. I talked to maybe 6 other guest and they all lived 5-10 min away and they stay there just to go and relax and enjoy the pool and restaurant. On some nights they even have a band that comes and plays.

« Good base for Monterey Bay trips »

Located near the highway but still quiet, next to a large grocery retailer and other businesses. Close to Santa Cruz and Moss Landing, good breakfast and very nice rooms and staff. We didn't like Severinos restaurant, which looks like a sports bar and is too noisy for families.

    « Worn out »

Over priced for a worn out hotel. Grounds are nice in the center of property. Staff is very polite-but I would only stay again if nothing else available. It would take a lot to remodel but would be worth it.

« Great comfy place to stay »

I have been staying here for almost 20 years. Great place to relax, best bar and food is excellent. Bar specials, best $8 burger around, nachos are filling, or try the steak salad. Chicken Piccata my favorite, half rack ribs also all menu items are good, Great beer on tap selection. I think I have tried almost everything on the menu and never disappointed. Koi pond is fun and the rooms are always quiet and comfy. Good internet access and yum on the breakfast.

    4
    « Lovely grounds »

The grounds here are definitely a high point, much nicer than I expected from a Best Western. The staff were all friendly and the bar/restaurant had good food. Rooms are spacious and clean. If you're staying in building 2 I would suggest requesting the even numbered rooms that face the pool as the odd rooms face the parking lot and highway. They traffic noise wasn't all that bad at night though and the sliders and drapes keep a fair bit of noise out. The location was close enough to lots of sights and shops. I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for something of quality that is reasonably priced.

« Value and Service were Great! »

Great experience with extremely nice staff in every area that we experienced. Design of the hotel was nice. Our room was quiet for sleeping and the bed was comfortable. Near freeway but noise was not an issue.

    5
    « Newly renovated »

Our room in the 500 building was newly renovated. The drapes, walls, bedding, flooring were all new looking. The bed was a little hard for me but OK to sleep on. The air conditioning was quiet as was the room. Our room looked out to the garden and we had 2 chairs and a table which was nice. The landscaping is great and it is nice walking around. Having Severino's restaurant on the property is nice. The included breakfast is the typical and the staff does a great job.

« Just Right For The Price »

Stayed here for just one night. Really like the set up of the hotel. Rooms were very clean and included a refrigerator. Pool and spa is nice. Free breakfast was excellent. For the area, the price was just right. Also the hotel offers an excellent military discount so don't forget to ask for it.

    5
    « Beautiful surroundings »

This hotel was very nice. Our room was clean and modern. The grounds were beautiful. They offer a free breakfast with a nice variety. The staff was awesome, so accommodating, attentive and helpful. Unfortunately the people in the room next to ours were very loud and boisterous until 1 am. Then we heard them say they were going back to the bar. Aaah quite for a while until they came back around 3 in the morning and were loud again. Reported it to the front next the next morning. They graciously offered us a discount credit for our room. Awesome customer service. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

    « Photos don't do it justice »

This hotel is a mini-resort with a pool, waterfalls, a Koi pool, outdoor dining, small fitness room, and room buildings tastefully arranged in a circle around the pools. Completely isolated from the major roads nearby, it provides a surprising respite from the trucks and cars on US 1 and the hustle bustle of Aptos business traffic. The rooms are comfortable with patios on the first floors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend it.

« Great place to stay »

I would definitely stay again. The only thing i regret about this trip was not staying longer. The staff at the hotel was nice, property up to date, grounds were beautiful and the location was great. If you have a few hours bring your running shoes and hit the trails for a great workout.

« Favorite Hotel in the area »

Third time I've stayed at this hotel. Each time has been consistent excellent service from all personnel. Management is terrific, rooms are clean and relaxing, in room dining is delicious, overall the BEST place to stay. Highly recommended! I'll definitely be back. Remember your swimsuit for the hot tub and pool.

« Stay at SeaCliff Inn »

Hotel is well located both to the freeway (highway 1) and less than a mile to the beach. The room could have been cleaner. The bed was wonderful and restaurant staff and food are very good. Despite the location next to the highway you don't get any highway noise in the rooms.

    1
    « Terrible »

I have stayed in perhaps hundreds of hotels across the spectrum -- luxury, generic corporate, budget, extremely budget -- and this was by far the biggest ripoff I have ever experienced. The check-in staff gave us bad information and put us in a room that required that we drag our suitcases up rough concrete stairs. The room was very basic, wildly out of line with the exorbitant rate we were charged. The door latch was broken, the air conditioner was noisy and smelled musty, and the vanity faucet leaked all over the counter. I literally feel like I was robbed.

« Quick trip to the California coast »

Our stay was pleasant at the Seacliff Inn. The grounds are expansive and nicely kept. Our room was nice, modern and clean. The lobby is nice and we were greeted by a friendly employee who was very patient and helped us with questions and suggestions. It appeared they were remodeling some of the grounds, which made the parking a bit confusing but all in all we found this hotel to be quite nice. The private balcony gave us a nice view of the pool and the grounds, so enjoying a glass of wine at sunset was spectacular.

« Great place to stay in Aptos »

Great place to stay for a little R&R. Centrally located, beautiful pool and landscsape areas.. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. The beds are very comfortable and the restaurant food was delicious.

    2
    « Safety experience »

I would not recommend to anyone, due to the safety issue we experienced. The staff at desk did not use could judgement and I am grateful I wasn't in the bathroom and having that man enter, That would have been a scene no one would have liked.

« Great stop, I would visit there again »

Really nice hotel on a short trip to California. We stayed some not very nice places, this was the best by far.. Great setting and location. Room was nice, clean comfortable with a little patio. We had a drink and an appie in the bar (on the patio) and enjoyed the pond. Bed was comfortable and pillows were great. A little pricey for us but we have come to expect higher prices in vacation/resort type areas.

« One of the better Best Westerns »

I generally like the Best Western chain. Most of them are well kept up, and their not outrageously pricey. But some are nicer than others. This one - the Seacliff Inn in Aptos, CA - is especially nice. Pleasant, clean, very well kept up, nice gardens and walkway, a clean pool, etc. Has a few amenities I liked, such as a convenient plug-in to charge your cell at night right by your bed - using regular or USB plugs. The free breakfast is just okay - not fabulous - but it will do.

    5
    « Beautiful Hotel »

The grounds at this hotel were so nice. You can sit at the pool or go over the bridgr to the restaurant. The Koi pond was nice to look at while dining. The room was very nice and very nice decorated. The food was deilicious and the service was great! We enjoyed our stay very much! tWe definitely return to this hotel!

« Close to beachs and the redwoods »

If you are looking for a hotel in this area, it is a clean quiet place to stay. It has a great bar and restaurant with great food and the bar is a sports bar with many tv's. Niece pool area that is kept very clean. Great place for families.

    5
    « Comfortable and pretty »

My family and I loved this hotel. We will definitely be staying here again this year. It has everything we needed. Swimming pool for the kids, food for the family so we did not have to leave the premises and of course a bar/lounge for us adults! The continental breakfast was more than I expected!

« Best Western, Seacliff Inn. Travel Friendly ! »

Close to the beach, close to the freeway, close to shopping, comfortable bed, friendly staff, quick , quality breakfast and a Koi Pond to boot ! What am I missing ? You tell me ! I would recommend this stop along Highway one to all !

    « Average hotel »

For our family this was just an average hotel. The rooms seem older and could use some freshening up. The breakfast in the morning was good and convenient. We stayed in the 300 building and did not like that the only way to get to the lobby was through the lounge/bar area. It was awkward in the evening when people were celebrating.

    5
    « Very Impressive »

This is a very well run and friendly place to stay. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The staff are willingly helpful. There is a very good restaurant and bar attached. The included breakfast buffet has heaps of choices, all very good. It is very conveniently located near Highway 1 and the many attractions around the greater Santa Cruz area.

    « Always a Pleasure »

First of all- I travel with what feels like a circus and sideshow - AKA; two kids under ten with epic numbers of boogie and skim boards, scooters, etc. as a single mom. I am pretty careful about not inflicting our menagerie on hotels/motels/inns unless they are really family friendly. The Seacliff Best Western- is awesome! The staff is great, the rooms are always clean, the pool area is great, the Koi pond always a hit, and wait for it... Affordable room service and a bar and restaurant on premises that has something for everyone. I ended up here a few years ago because our usual spot was booked - I had never stayed a Best Western- what a pleasant surprise. My kids love it. I love it. Friends in the area come and meet us for dinner and drinks either poolside (you can order at the pool too) or at the restaurant. Other patrons are great. Its close to the beach.... Unlike other places we frequent- I could see staying here sans kids for an adult get away... Its family friendly but not kid infested... OK, well, maybe the pool is before dinner... We have been guests in the winter and summer- and regardless of how busy it is the staff is courteous, prompt, and attentive.

    5
    « My favorite tradition! »

We have been going to the Seacliff Best Western for 25 years now! It started when our kids were little- close to the beach , Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk , shops, etc. The pool area was always clean and fun! The kids got older and it remains a great little get a way spot for us as a couple now. I hope to take grandchildren there as soon as I have some!

    5
« Much better than expectations! »

This is perhaps one of the best Best Western hotels I have stayed in. I was expecting a small room on arrival however I was very pleasantly surprised to find a large suite. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a good sized shower. The kitchen had a fridge and a small freezer. The grounds were well kept and very nice to walk around. The breakfast was good and there was a lot of choice on offer. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed here and travelled into Santa Cruz along Highway 1 which didn't take long at all. I would recommend this hotel to people visit or travelling through central California.

« Very Comfy like a home away from home »

« Good hotel on California Central Coast »

Good hotel, well run, excellent location, great breakfast buffet, pleasant rooms. Not cheap, but this area is pricey so it's well within the typical price range. Close to the beach and a short drive to downtown Capitola and Aptos Village.

« Good stay at this hotel »

Good stay with very nice pool and jacuzzi but doubled booked into the same room so entered while another guest had already occupied room and staff asked them to leave and wanted us to then take the SAME room. We were given another room at our insistence. We asked for an upgrade to an interior room and were refused but given free cocktail coupons instead. Food is not very good for cocktail hour. sent back the calamari/fishy and cold.

    « Great atmosphere! »

This Hotel is above and beyond the typical hotel. An oasis in the desert. Our family spent sometime everyday out at the pool and on our patio. The breakfast was very good! Great place to kick back and enjoy the Hotel pool and surroundings!

« Best little secret on the central coast »

We always had our friends stay at the Seacliff Inn when they came to visit us in Aptos. Now that we have moved away, it is our first choice when we come back. Convenient location, reasonable price and enough amenities to make our short stay very comfortable. I called and booked the room directly with the hotel staff rather than on-line and was was easily accommodated with exactly what we needed - a ground floor handicapped room with 2 queen beds, ready for us when we arrived. The buffet breakfast included in the price of the room was an extra treat. I got to enjoy the early morning fog chatting with an old friend while my husband slept late. A most enjoyable trip.

« Hotel stay with 83 year old Mother »

Over all this is a nice property. Hotel is composed of 5 different 2 story units and there is no elevator to the 2nd floor so if you are traveling with someone that find stairs difficult or if you have heavy luggage to get to the room ask for a ground floor room. There restaurant / Bar is nice and the outdoor patio is great, but the food was not very good. The breakfast is reasonably good and there is plenty of it. Rooms have a balcony which over look a cetral court yard which is a nice feature

« Very Nice Place to Stay »

« This is the place to stay! »

I love this hotel. Has great staff, very nice rooms, pool, restaurant, bar, weekend activities and is close proximity to beaches and sight seeing within Santa Cruz County. This place has been great for my family and I (3 year old and 6 year old kids), when I'm on business trips or a getaway with my significant other.

« Good location and good venue »

The hotel itself is lovely, the location is very good and lovely grounds. The front desk personnel were very helpful and pleasant. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet and the bed very comfortable; even the pull out bed in the living room. The complimentary breakfast was very complete and quite good. The only negative was the housekeeping staff which was quite sloppy in their daily cleaning.

« High Hopes Dashed with this Beautiful Property »

The Best Western Seacliff is a beautiful property and had read good reviews on TripAdvisor hence, the reason why we stayed. We had a dissatisfied stay because of wet carpets from a leak, odor in the room as well as a nasty hole in the wall with drywall on the floor.I reported to the front desk and was told maintenance had gone home. They offered another room, but moving our family at 10:30 PM was not in the cards. We also wanted to enjoy the pool with our son and found out that the pool heat was turned off by the time we went for a swim around 8:00 PM. There was also people drinking and partying it up at the hot tub, which made the pool experience even worse. The pool attendant was not too concern on what was going on. The positive is the onsite restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast and both were excellent. The common area grounds of this property is beautiful, however the room we stayed in needed some major work.

    « Great place »

We arrived very late and in the dark. Check in was efficient and we were given drinks vouchers for the bar. The hotel is very nicely laid out in two storey blocks set around a large pool, which has plenty of sunbeds and seating. There is plenty of parking and free wifi. Our room was on first floor. Good size with two comfy queen beds, large fridge, coffee making facilities, TV, desk and chairs. The bathroom is small but perfectly adequate and the sink is in a vanity unit in a recess outside the bathroom in the main room. There was also a balcony over looking the pool with table and chairs. The gardens are pretty and there is a lovely pond and waterfall outside the restaurant. Breakfast is included and is self serve buffet and was absolutely fine with plenty of choice. The dining room did get busy but there was plenty of seating. The hotel is situated immediately off the 101 so some road noise can be heard at times when outside. We didnt hear it in our room but could from the balcony. It is also only 5 minutes from Seacliff State Beach. Overall a great stay and would recommend.

    « Odd smells & thin walls »

Outdated property. The walls are thin and the property can be noisy. Our room was not attended to when we got back around 3pm after a long day. We called the front desk for clean towels and voiced our concerns. "Hmm" was the response . Breakfast was "free " and that's the best I can say about that. Centrally located for our needs however.

« nice place to stay »

We always stay here when we are in the area. The breakfast is very good and we love the koi pond/waterfall. Severino's has very good food. We had a cleanliness issue on our patio and it was quickly remedied.

« Nobody knows what they are doing »

This is the first time I have written a bad review. It is not critisism of the property but of the staff. We stayed last week for one night in a king suite room. We were traveling with our two grandsons who were visiting from Germany. The hotel was 90 percent families visiting Santa Cruz. We paid over 250. dollars for the one night, quite a bit for a Best Western. We got in bed at 8:00 pm and paid 18 dollars to rent a movie, my husband and grandson laughed quite a bit. The movie was over at 9:15, we turned off the lights and went to sleep. At 9:30 the phone rang it was the front desk saying somebody had complained that we were being noisy. I explained that we were sleeping and the noise had been minimal., nobody was out of bed. I suggested that before calling us they should have sent someone to the room to check the complaint instead of waking us up! The next morning my husband went to the front desk to let them know he was disappointed in the way they had handled it. The reception said they had no record of the phone call or complaint. They did not offer any apology. When we got home I realized we had left one of the boys asthma inhaler in the room Since they were visiting from Germany we had no way to replace it. The housekeeping department said they could send it fed ex for 20.00. I happily agreed to pay. The girl said it was guaranteed in two days. I called this afternoon, fourth day and they said that housekeeping was gone at 3:00pm and I could call tomorrow. I asked if someone could go to housekeeping and get the tracking info because I wanted to contact Fed Ex. She said no. I explained again, that it was asthma medicine for an 8 year old and it was very necessary. she told me to call tomorrow. What a bad taste this hotel has left in my mouth for Best Westerns!

We had booked 2 night for a softball tournament that was going on in Watsonville. We were pleasantly surprised of how nice this Best Western was. Room was clean, Staff was very nice, nice size pool where you can order food and drinks. Breakfast in the morning was better than just the muffins and fruit. Good way to start off the morning. Close to freeway, shopping center etc. I would come stay here again for sure.

    « Hotel is a bit outdated »

Hello! My family and I stayed at the BW Sea Cliff for a soccer tournament / birthday weekend. I will start with the NOT so enjoyable items during our stay. Upon check-in we had some cooler items to put away in the mini refrigerator but found old food spilled into refer and inside cabinet where it was located. There were other food stains as well. The bathroom is not very spacious just a simple sink w/no tissue and the bath products very basic. The shower had mold stains in the grout and the shower head was NOT pleasant shooting water out at a high hard rate and the adjustment only made the water so soft it could hardly rinse soap / sand out of your hair. There was also no microwave, the lamp on our bedside did no work and the USB charging station also did not work. I was pretty excited about the addition of the USB port/plugin until I realized it didn't work. The good was the size of the room fit myself and 3-children nicely. The decor and bed comfort was good. We had a patio that walked out directly to the pool entrance. The complimentary breakfast was very good and had great variety so you were not bored or hungry. The restaurant Severinos was delicious and great service. The patio seating at Severinos is definitely the best if you dine there with Koi ponds and a cute walkabout bridge. The pool and hot tub were also great.

I have stayed here for many years, and I have always enjoyed it. They are very accommodating, the rooms are clean, the breakfasts are good. Overall a nice place to stay, and very convenient. The fountain and koi pond are fun to see, and the grounds overall are nicely landscaped.

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit. We liked the layout of the hotel and enjoyed the koi pond, great food and drinks at the on site bar and resteraunt. It is located close to the beach and would be a great place to return with our kids and grand kids for a family stay.

« Great Best Western Experience! »

I often stay at Best Western Hotels for their consistency in my hotel experience. Room was decorated nicely and was very clean! It is very nice to have a full service bar and restaurant on site plus a swimming pool and hot tub. I also appreciate having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The free breakfast was good but the dining room was very crowded.

« Second year visit: Still Excellent! »

Wow, love this place! The free breakfasts are really wonderful. Nice quiet rooms even with all the children playing in the pool. Nice quiet neighborhood, yet close to other attractions, like Santa Cruz, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium - all within short driving distances. Staff was friendly and helpful. Got away from the inland heat. Take the short hike down to Seacliff beach; you won't be disappointed. Great views, an old pier, and a WWII era concrete ship deteriorating in in the ocean, covered with birds.

    « Nice hotel - a hidden gem »

This is a hidden gem of an inn in Aptos, CA near Santa Cruz and Monterey. The onsite restaurant is excellent and a breakfast is included. A pretty koi pond and out door seating with heaters makes every meal enjoyable even on foggy days. Good affordable, family hotel with a heated pool and hot tub. Friday night there was a band. Its very close to all the Santa Cruz attractions. We will be back.

LOVED this hotel. Didnt seem like a hotel at all, more like a resort..with the beautiful landscaping, nice pool and spa area, and your own private deck/patio. The family atmosphere was awesome..felt right at home here! The breakfast was very good and it is right off of the main highway so very easy to get to and from attractions in the area. Definately would return !!

« Felt Relaxed Right Away »

Room and room amenities good. Parking a little strange due to the shape of the property. Central common area was very well designed with Koi Pond, waterfall, landscaping, foot bridge. Restaurant faces this area. Just "feels good". We ate dinner at the restaurant, food was very good. Will definitely recommend to anyone traveling in the area.

    « Everything you need »

Very well maintained. Room has a thermostat and the heater is quiet. We had 2 queen beds, which were very comfortable and had 4 pillows on each. Flat screen tv with cable. Close to beaches and only a few miles to Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Two story building, but no elevator. Rooms include a hot, buffet breakfast in their restaurant and a $5 coupon towards a beverage in the lounge.

    « Great location »

Excellent hotel close to beaches and nightlife in Santa Cruz. The room was very comfortable and clean. Their restaurant served us a great dinner. The included buffet breakfast had a good variety of food and drinks. The swimming pool and hot tub were close to all the rooms. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Stayed here 2-nights while our home was being fumigated. Room and linens were very clean. Liked the location, the beach is only 5 minutes away by car. There is a Safeway across the street from the hotel, which is very convenient.

Best Western Seacliff Inn is a wonderful hotel if you are in the Santa Cruz area. My family and I spent two nights there and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful and well kept. The staff is friendly and the food was wonderful.

    « Pleased with 2 day stay »

The hotel staff front desk was very accommodating and got us in the room early as we arrived at 11:00a. Room was perfect 2nd floor pool view. Room was clean and had all amenities we needed (a microwave would have been nice). There was a LARGE FAMILY REUNION going on during our stay so the pool area was noisy and crowded but we still enjoyed that time. Breakfast was very enjoyable and check out was simply a phone call to say Room ___ is leaving. Our daughter recommended this hotel and it was all she said it was.

    « Just OK »

We booked the BW SeaCliff because of it's location and the 2 bedroom family suites. We were disappointed with both. The area is nice, but for some reason, there was a fog layer over Aptos for 3 of the 4 nights that was not in Capitola/Santa Cruz or Monterey. I can't figure that one out, but it was a depressing way to start the day. The nearby SeaCliff beach was clean and quiet, but had driftwood scattered all over the place. We booked a 2 bedroom family suite so that my 2 teenage daughters would have their own bathroom to shower and get ready. We we disappointed to find that the second bathroom only had a large soaker tub, and no shower, so that didn't help. We were originally given a room with dated and worn out furnishings that looked nothing like the pics on the website. After complaining to the front desk, they switched us to a much nicer, renovated unit. Why wasn't I given this room to start? We also had an issue with the iron. It was old, and spit out a dirty, discolored water that stained my wife's shirt. Front desk swapped it out with a new one, but again, why did I have to ask for this? Shouldn't we expect the best? You are BEST Western! Free breakfast was excellent, and saved us money every day. Well done. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, and housekeeping was good. Hallways are worn and staircases could use a good cleaning. Check out was easy. Marianne's Ice Cream parlor down the street was fantastic. I probably would not return, as I feel better accommodations can be had a little farther down the road in Monterey.

    « Big suprise ! »

First just to say, that we have stayed here before ans it is very nice. My comment has to do with what was given us to stay in. We rented a room that was a pool view, what we received was room 106 that was a view of a dirt hill no pool and next to the kitchen with it's garbage cans. When we checked in we asked if this was a pool view and was told yes. So I went back to the front deck and asked for the correct room and they gave us room 602. So make sure you get what you ask for.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

Spent just one night for a quick business trip to Aptos. Chose this place mainly due to price and proximity to my meeting. Although I was assigned an "accessible" room overlook parking lot, I was pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of the room and updated furnishings and decor. A few weeks ago I stayed at the Fairmont Sonoma Inn and Spa's Jack London Suite (1,000 sq ft, 2 bathrooms etc.) and this Best Western standard room was far superior in regards to the decor and furnishings. Good job West Western (and shame on you Fairmont). Room also cam with a refrigerator, sink, coffee maker although no microwave oven. Fee included buffet breakfast in the morning. Nothing fancy, but food was hot and adequate (good pork sausage). Sign up for their FREE rewards program and you get 2 drink tickets that can be used in their bar or restaurant. Tap beer selection was surprisingly good too! I was able to use their pool, which also has a spa and was again, pleasantly surprised that they offered poolside service. Nice! I only have a few minor criticisms to share. 1) I was not told that I was being placed in an "accessible room" and 2) rooms are not well insulated from noise. I should have known when I saw the earplugs in the bathroom toiletry kit. Luckily, there was only one other guest in my wing, so noise was not really an issue. Had it been a "full house", it may have been a big issue. An added plus is their closeness to Sea Cliff State beach, about 1/2 mile away. A great place to go for a run (which I did). Lastly, this is a great place for families!

« Nice place close to Santa Cruz »

Good location - away from the crazy boardwalk and close to a nice state beach. Very attractive property. All the staff we interacted with were very pleasant. Just a short drive to downtown Santa Cruz, and only a short walk to shopping, coffee, and small eateries.

« Relaxing Stay at Sea Cliff »

While the hotel is centrally located in Aptos it feels secluded and is quite quiet. It is in walkable distance to stores and restaurants. Rio del Mar beach is best accessed by bike or car. I reserved a room with a king bed. I had a private patio which faced a parking lot that was obscured by a small bank planted with agapanthus- which were in bloom. The room was clean and spacious. I lucked out- Tuesday night Serevino's, BW restaurant has live music at 6pm and happy hour from 3-6. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I was granted a late check-out, and used the time to soak in the hot tub and swim in the pool. My new favorite place to stay in the S.C. area.

    « trip in june 2016 »

I do not have any comments. the pool was to small the food was good the music was not good service was adequate. so work on the check in as I needed to go through best Western to book my stay at the front desk. and they want 50.00 dollars more to do it. It would have been a lot easier to book straight to the front desk to book it. do not do that as they do not want to bother to do the booking with the best western you may stayed before and would stay again.

« Great place for our family reunion »

25 members of our family spent a long weekend in Seacliff Inn. We could all meet in the morning at the great breakfast buffet and plan our day's activities, some of them at the Inn (hanging out at the pool, for example) and some of them at nearby beaches or parks. Everyone was happy with this choice of reunion venue.

I wrote a review that went under this hotel when it was to be under the Best Western Dunes Beach hotel. I am just realizing this now and want to make sure that I state that it has always been a great hotel for us and has great amenities and no noise problems. My apologies Seacliff Inn for an inaccurate review.

« Good Option for the Price »

My family and I stayed at this Best Western recently for 3 nights while exploring Monterey and Santa Cruz. We chose this hotel since it had a good AAA discount and it was between the two cities (though closer to Santa Cruz). Many motels in the same price range in the area are run down or in unsafe areas, but this Best Western was very nice and peaceful. The grounds were more beautiful than any other Best Western we've stayed in. The free breakfast also offered a good variety. There were only 2 downsides to this hotel--the carpets were not very clean (my kids' feet were filthy after running around barefoot) and the walls were somewhat thin, though they provided a pair of very good quality earplugs.

    4
« Definitely will come back »

We stayed here while we attended my son's wedding nearby. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. Each one had a little balcony or sitting area. The gardens were beautiful to walk thru. Definitely would stay here again.

« Clean, quiet, with a nice pool »

Even though it was graduation weekend for so many schools in the Santa Cruz area and hotels were full of students, parents, and friends, the Best Western Seacliff Inn did a great job of moving people in and out and keeping the noise to a minimum. At 10pm, as guests were still having fun in the pool, staff obviously told swimmers that pool time was over and that it was quiet time. The hotel was clean and the bed fresh and perfect. Good shower with plenty of power, and good wifi. Breakfast was a slight step up from typical on-the-road breakfasts with hot foods. There is a terrific pool with lots of towels, and you can actually order food and drinks poolside by phone and they will be delivered to you! East to find, good parking, Safeway nearby, and close to Santa Cruz. (Avoid the freeway as much as possible around rush hour. You won't believe the traffic.)

« Small room, high price, great breakfast »

We stayed at this Best Western for a Fathers Day weekend getaway with our extended family. We had a room with a king bed that was somewhat small by today's standards. And the weekend price seemed very high for the quality of the room and location of the hotel, about $270 per night. This hotel can also be noisy at night, from the pool, from the bar, from the rooms upstairs and down the hall. Highlight of the stay: great breakfast with lots of hot and cold choices.

    5

relaxing and easy to find a bit more expensive than other best westerns however the staff are extremely happy to serve and the environment is beautiful and peaceful. I would definitely want to return and enjoy during a vacation trip.

« Great Place to Stay »

The Best Western Seacliff Inn is popular with the locals as well as travelers. There were a couple of weddings taking place during our stay and local groups hold their meetings there. Our room was modern and very comfortable. The ground floor rooms have a small patio for sitting outside. Some patios face the pool and others face a parking lot. This is a family friendly place, so the pool can get a bit noisy at times. A very nice breakfast buffet is included. The restaurant/Bar has live music on the weekends. We highly recommend the Seacliff Inn when visiting the Santa Cruz area.

    4
« Good for family and near beach »

Good motel, nicely appointed, nice pool for family. Close to Seacliff State Beach. Didn't feel as secure and safe as some motels because the rooms have corridors to the outside but neighborhood seems safe. Little noisy. Hearing the tv from the room next door late at night. Stayed on weekend with a wedding going on so was awakened by partiers after midnight who then put on the tv loudly. included Breakfast is real eggs with spinach scrambled in. Nice touch. Good coffee, and nice selection at breakfast. Staff clears your table. Nice to eat in the dining room. Overall quality is very good, which it should be a $200/night for 2 queen room. Rooms are spacious as well and beds are comfortable. Would stay there again.

The best experience staying at a hotel every! Great and friendly staff! The grounds are very pleasant and we used the pool & hot tub every-night we stayed there. The lounge & bar are had live music on Saturday night which was a pleasant surprise! The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable.

we had a fun day and family trip. hotel was clean, friendly staff,. we had 3 adults and 3 kids. 1, 2 and 17 yrs old. no problem with the amount of people we had, got a big room for all of us. I will recommend this place.

    4
    « Beautiful place »

This is a beautiful place to stay, and the location is excellent. There are shops and places to eat within walking distance and a fascinating State beach is a short stroll away. Grounds are beautiful and the pool is lovely. The included breakfast is one of the best we've experienced. There is a bar with music in the evening. so if you want quiet, ask for a room in building 4 or 5 which are away from the bar. Two caveats: On summer weekends the pool is filled with children. Buildings are charming but elderly and they are not soundproof. That can be a real problem if you have noisy neighbors.

    « Great value »

Clean, great location right off Highway 1, great hot breakfast buffet..... I would return when in the area....... btw, didn't use it, but the pool looked good too........ Close to state beach and Capitola, which is a great, small beach town...

This Inn was great for wedding and out-of-town guests. Convenient amenities and clean everything. We used the fitness and pool area. Wedding outside was beautiful, can't believe this facility is a Best Western!

    « Older Property Near a Beach »

Poorly disguised old hotel with very few amenities, except a pool. Breakfast was average with crowded seating. Location is adjacent to a restaurant, Severino's, which provides an outdoor patio, and lots of noise. It should be noted that there is a $50 up charge for weekend nights, starting on Friday, which significantly impacts the cost of your total stay. We booked there for four nights, and if we had known the area better, we would have moved to another property.

    3
    « Location of room »

If you are given a parking lot room in building 100 or 200 you face the freeway. Noise from the road starts around 4 am. When checking in we requested a room near other parties in building 500 or 600 and no comment was even given to us by the front desk staff. I feel like they just gave us the worst room possible for making a reservation over 8 months ago.

« A nice hotel for work or pleasure. »

This is my second visit to this hotel. The first was work, the second was pleasure. I enjoyed it so much I chose to bring my family back. The restaurant was worthy for on the go needs, but the food fell far below expectation. I would go back.

« Motion Sensors make sleep difficult... »

There are motion sensors in the rooms that shut off the AC when you fall asleep. Then the room temp rises and you wake up too warm. Throwing a pillow in the air a few times restarts the AC so you can fall back asleep and repeat over and over all night long. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE NIGHT !!

    4
« Nice hotel, right off highway »

This hotel is literally 1 minute off of Hwy 1, making it very convenient. They offer free breakfast, which includes eggs, breakfast sausage, French toast, fresh fruit, coffee. Seating was in the restaurant and there was plenty of it. They have a nice courtyard you can walk to. Patios are a nice touch, but ours faced the busy highway so we didn't use it. Bed was comfortable and check in/out was easy. Easy access to restaurants and the beach is just a few minutes away.

This was a very short trip but I really enjoy it... my room was clean all the time very quiet and I just hope if I go again the pool will be ready. It was a nice place. We stayed in town for a high school sport event, and had a lovely stay. Standard rooms for best western, clean, comfortable and roomy. The best surprise was the breakfast! This free breakfast for a family of three on there way to all day sports tournament was amazing! Full hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, cereal breads, pancakes, etc. this size breakfast was way more then we have ever experienced! Well done and great local spot for a family!

« Needs some upkeep or remodel »

I have stayed here about 10 times. The pool area is kept up and wonderful, but the rooms need help. I know it's an expensive neighborhood, but this place is a poor value now that the rooms are kinda run down. ESPECIALLY after they tack on the resort fee. The thin walls have little privacy, and nighttime noises can be a problem. I overheard too much, and heard other guests had issues too. The beds are nice, but the carpeted restroom area is gross, put tile in! The shower tile is dated, and the miniature toilet area is a pain. The energy saving light switches are annoying. I couldn't find out why the bed lamp would not turn on! Plugged in, check. Light bulb installed, check. Switch tried in multiple positions and other lamp switches hunted for... Oh! A motion sending wall switch controls the bed lamp! Lame and cumbersome.

    « Family visit »

I had a great experience with the front desk. They were very helpful. The room was clean. Everyone was courteous when I thought our nightstand light bulb was out. The switch was on the wall and it was not turned on Every one was prompt in my service call. The lounge had a wedding party. The music was too loud for our conversation. It took a bit to get the order in. the drink was fine. Nothing special, just a gin and tonic. The gin was a well gin, not that a high end was offered.

    « Business Trip »

I stay at Seacliff Inn for business travel on a regular basis. It's a convenient location and near my workplace in Watsonville. The only problem I've ever had was some intoxicated guests at 3 AM, but that was an isolated event and promptly handled by staff and law enforcement. 99% of the stays I've had at Seacliff Inn have been pleasant as business travel can be.

    « Beautiful Location »

I would like to review the hotel as a whole and not on just the most recent trip we took, since we've stayed here a few times. They have rooms for every budget and are very clean and comfortable. The tubs are decently sized, especially the in room Jacuzzi tubs (great for couples). They do also have a large heated pool and outdoor jaccuzzi. They have a beautiful koi pond and little bridge near the lounge and restaurant, a very nice touch. Just a short walk away there is a beach and some quaint places to eat. It is also just a few miles away from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and other fun activities. We ordered room service on a Saturday night and it took less than 20 minutes to get there, that was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. This last trip we had some issues with them placing a 50.00 incidental fee on our card without notification, then they also charged us twice for the room. It did get refunded 2 days later. Just a heads up, make sure the front desk is paying attention when you check in or out.

    4
« Nice place to stay »

We stayed for two nights on a weekend. There was loud music but we couldn't hear it from our room. They said that the band leaves around 11pm anyway. Comfortable bed, clean room, good breakfast buffet, good internet, great location. Worked out well for my family.

« Aptos Seacliff Best Western »

A giant 10! This hotel was wonderful, comfortable, quiet, close to the beach and the food was awesome. We were a couple of minutes away from New Brighton Beach where the wedding of my husband's daughter was taking place. It was comforting to know we didn't have to fight traffic to get there or cause us to be late for the ceremony, since my husband was walking his daughter down the aisle. Very important to have all things in place for such an important trip - Seacliff offered comfort on every level.

    « Great Choice! »

Comfortable, clean room. Outstanding staff...helpful, friendly and provided exceptional service. Nice restaurant. Complimentary breakfast better then most other hotels I''ve stayed at. Central/good location for when you're going to visit relatives in Aptos. Only down side of stay was the internet service provided. I continually loss internet connectivity while checking emails and try to surf internet. The only decent connection was a computer for guests that was located on a table between the restaurant and the front lobby.

    « Room too noisy »

This is the first time staying at Best Western Hotel and will probably be my last. First impressions count and when I as assigned room 111 it was facing highway 101. The car and roadway noise did not provide for a good nights sleep. I was very disappointed.

    2
    « Pros and Cons »

Pros: Great location, pretty grounds, great amenities and well appointed rooms. Cons: paper thin walls, noisy and rowdy guests indoors and outdoors, poor wifi, weak showers, no elevators. I spent one night at the Seacliff in order to attend a wedding nearby. While the rooms were well stocked and in clean and new condition, I would not stay here again. A clear warning sign is that all rooms are supplied with earplugs. The first room I was given was on the second floor and there was no elevator. That didn't bother me but I was a tad worried as it also was located right next to the restaurant and bar. At 8 o'clock loud live music started playing and I was told it would go on until midnight. I requested a room in a quieter building and was immediately switched to a building further away. A worker brought me a new key to my room right away. Kudos for that. Unfortunately the second room wasn't much better. This time I was placed near the swimming pool where young children were running, shouting and playing unsupervised. Well the ear plugs solved that problem. I had just settled into my comfy dark and quieter room to sleep at 11 o'clock and was hopeful I could sleep through the rest of the night. Unfortunately I was awakened at 12:30 my drunken guests in the hall and next door. Given that the walls are super thin, I could hear every word that was said let alone shouted. Luckily the drunk man left and the drunk lady fell asleep so I could too. The next morning I went down to have what turned out to be a decent breakfast. I checked out and spend the rest of the morning at the beach instead of at the hotel until normal checkout time. Best decision I ever made. Word to the wise: Internet Wi-Fi signal is weak. Water strength in the shower is weak as well. Hot and cold water or inconsistent. It's a shame that the hotel was not better constructed to provide for sound buffering. That is the number one reason I recommend not staying at the Seacliff Inn.

    3
    « Beautiful grounds - room, well.... »

I attended a meeting at this hotel. The grounds are very nice and have more of an apartment feel than a hotel. There is a restaurant and bar that are adequate. My only complaint is the room. The bed was not comfortable and the door had a large gap around it - enough you could see through. It was hard to control the temperature of the room during the night. They could use a decor refresh. It was a direct bill so I cannot speak to the room rate to value.

    3
« Pretty grounds but very thin walls »

We stayed for two nights. The grounds are pretty, the rooms are small but clean. The breakfast was decent and our one meal in the restaurant was pretty good too. When we asked for extra pillows and for the sink drain to be cleared, our requests were handled right away. I liked everything about this property except that we could hear entire conversations through the front sliding window and the wall between us and the next room. The folks outside and next door were very loud until midnight, which was not pleasant at all. I would only stay there again if we could stay in a room that has no one next door.

    « Mediocre, at best. »

The room is standard, nothing great, and no big issues. The operations of the hotel are very sub-standard. The included breakfast is so sad that I ate it only once, then stocked up on supplies in my room. The included breakfast does not include hot tea, I was informed. The eggs were a hard mess. Luckily, my room had a refrigerator, so I ate breakfast in the room for the rest of the week. I was presented with 2 drink coupons, worth 5 dollars each. The first night I ordered a glass of wine, I think it was listed at $14, so I paid nine. It was undrinkable. I did not go back to use the second coupon. Housekeeping took my bath towels without replacing them one day, which made for an interesting shower as I had not realized that I was without towels. The hotel keys became deactivated, both of them, a day prior to my checkout. When I went to get the second one replaced, after 10 p.m. at night, the attendant at the front desk was on the phone, laughing and telling jokes with someone for quite some time, while I stood in front of her, waiting, tired and very ready to gain access to my room again. Basically, the rooms are OK, and the place is poorly run, and the staff is poorly trained.

    4
« Comfort by the Sea »

the grounds at this hotel are very nice. You can walk the paths and get relaxed or set out side on your landing. Breakfast has real eggs not powered and a nice varity. Staff was very nice and knowledgible. Pool and Hot tub were under repair. Koi pond was cool to look at. Lighting in room was awesome. Water was always hot when needed. the hotel is very nice and close to the beach.

« Expect more for the money »

I requested an early check in. They were unable to accommodate so we went to the boardwalk. We ended up checking in rather late at night and were starving. Decided to go to the restaurant at the hotel. Since it was getting close to closing time for them, the staff appeared bothered that we were wanting to eat and get a table. The hotel rooms are small and bathroom area tiny. No vending machines besides for a soda machine. Patio faced a dumpster so we could not use. We departed on Easter morning, they cancelled the full breakfast and put together some sort of continental breakfast which was a complete mess and unorganized. Total Chaos.

    5
« Only staying here from now on »

For the past few years when we visit my sisters family we've been staying at another Aptos hotel on the ocean. But decided to try the Seacliff Inn this Easter weekend. Hands down it was a GREAT experience. We'll only be staying here from now on. Every member of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was awesome and we enjoyed everything about our stay.

    3
« Quick trip to Santa Cruz area »

Although this hotel is usually on top of things was disappointed with this visit. Wasn't told until check-in that the pool/hot but was not available. Requested extra bath towels both nights of our stay and never received them. Had a bunch of noisy kids next door and could easily hear them through the walls.

    3
« Pretty good, for the only game in town »

Not much to choose from in Aptos, so take it or leave it. We booked it specifically for the pool and hot tub and both were unexpectedly under maintenance and out of order our whole stay. No other property within 10 miles has one, so we reluctantly stayed. Not bad. $150 a night ain't cheap, but for walking distance (10 minute walk down hill, brutal climb back up!) to the beach/water, it's pretty good. Excellent bed and for a low-flow shower, super hot and decent.

I have stayed here many times and it meets all my basic requirements - safe, clean and comfy. It's a large property with lots of room choices. The staff is more than helpful and very friendly. It is very close to the ocean which makes it a bit more pricey. There is a restaurant and lounge on site - convenient but sometimes it means there are loud voices outside late at night. Rooms on the first level have interior entry and patios. They have good rates for kids and the rooms have refrigerators and microwaves on request. It would be nice to have a no breakfast option as the food is just so-so. Restaurant food is just OK but there are plenty of places to eat close by.

« Comfortable Clean and Safe »

When I travel alone I am looking for lodging that is clean and safe - it is also nice if there is food available nearby. I have stayed at the Seacliff many times and it meets my basic qualifications. It is very close to the ocean which makes it more expensive. But it is a great place to stay. My only negative is that there is a lounge/bar as part of the property and this sometimes means loud voices late into the night.

    « Convenience with character »

This is my go-to hotel when traveling for work in the Monterrey Bay area. It feels more like a home than a hotel. I love the breakfast buffet - much better than most hotel breakfasts. It is an easy jog or reasonable walk down to the beach, which I enjoy for morning or evening exercise, and the fitness room is adequate if all I have time for is a quick workout. The pool and landscaping are lovely, though I've never actually taken a dip!

    « Very good hotel »

Everything was just right. Cleanliness, service, amenities, breakfast. Parking spaces were a little narrow, but there were plenty of spots. Could have used a waiting list as I couldn't get a room for the second night until the very last minute and I had to keep calling back.

    « Clean - walls are a bit thin »

Clean room, very spacious, 2nd floor so good amount of light. Good breakfast - could use more fruit options though. Nice grounds, good pool and jacuzzi area. Walls were thin - could hear neighbors easily.

« Good value for money »

Convenient to the Seacliff beach. Get rooms facing courtyard to avoid noise from Route 1. Beautiful gardens around pool. Some rooms have new carpeting. Breakfast included but unimpressive. Severino's Restaurant otherwise excellent value.

« Old Hotel in Dire need of Renovation = Unsafe? »

The Seacliff is an old and tired hotel dire need of an upgrade. Like many other places in Santa Cruz county, they seem to really want to hold on to the late 70's / early 80's. I've stayed here numerous times for business, because there are not many reasonably priced hotels to choose from in this area. Where to start. It's Motel-esque in that you drive to your room and park right outside the building. The Rooms are old and slightly musty. Walls are paper thin. If you are on the ground floor than your room has a large paper thin sliding glass door that overlooks the pool. If you don't keep the drapes closed at all times passers by can just look right in. If you in the first building near the bar the noise may be bothersome on nights they have a band (Friday). The bathroom floor tile is straight out of the 70's and the carpet is worn and faded. Bathroom fixtures were old and worn. The HVAC had to be 20 years old and sounded like a freight train every time it revved up. The outdated keycard door locks do not work. Had a very hard time getting into my room every time, even tried different key cards. Locking the door was also difficult. Slight redeeming quality, I did think the bed was actually comfortable (might have been because I was really tired) To make matters worse, co-workers of mine had their room broken into and their bags stolen during the day while we were in a meeting offsite. The Hotel staff did not seem to care and acted like it happens all the time. (Inside Job?) Police had a similar response. At night (especially on a Friday) the place seemed to attract a questionable crowd which put me a little on edge and made me feel a little unsafe. Unfortunately, I Have to stay here again for business next month. I hope this time won't be as bad but I don't have high hopes.

    « Best Stay Ever »

Family reunion was great at this hotel. The climate, restaurants, pool, bar/lounge lent itself for a wonderful time visiting all day and night long. The overall staff were great, being helpful, friendly, courteous and even joined in on our fun. Plan on coming back! !

« Love this hotel, but the walls are thin »

Love this hotel for the ease of the location, reasonable price, amazing complimentary breakfast , and the hotel aesthetics. The only downside is that the walls are very thin, which makes it hard to sleep.

    « Consistent and wonderful! »

The Best Western Seacliff Inn never fails to meet our expectations. Living nearby the hotel, we still prefer to stay here rather than the surrounding areas. The pool is great and clean and the rooms are perfect for our family. We requested a pool side ground level room and the staff was willing to accomodate us. The breakfast in the morning is definitely one of the best in the Best Western family - lots of different items to choose from - hot or cold. And the beds are beyond comfy! Great nights sleep.

    4
    « Above Par »

Stayed here in the off-season at a relatively reasonable rate. The property is not particularly close to the beach, it really isn't that far?it's about a 20 minute walk?but it is convenient enough to get to Seacliff State Park and the shops on Soquel Rd. Highway 1 is convenient, but also makes things less pedestrian friendly and makes noise 24/7. Staff was very helpful, rooms were spacious, clean and quiet, and I was able to get work done with the wireless and space provided. Outdoor hot tub was a plus.

    5
    « GREAT HOTEL & GROUNDS »

Had a wonderful stay here! Everything was great...comfortable beds, great restaurant, friendly staff, quiet. Beautiful grounds and nice pool and spa. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

    4
« Excellent value (but need blankets!) »

Beds comfy & clean. Room clean & very quiet (back of complex, 2nd floor). Excellent breakfast in very nice setting including outdoor tables near heaters. Food better than many "included" breakfasts. Our only complaint was beds had only paper-thin blanket. This is typical in lower end hotels & drives me crazy. We shivered until heat kicked in, but heat came w/unpleasant smell and no one wants to leave it on all night. Why do hotels always fail to provide blankets?

    5
    « Great Hotel »

The rooms are clean, updated and very comfortable. The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant provides 5 Star meals at a reasonable price. The lounge provides good music, great drinks and has a very relaxing atmosphere. My husband and I love coming here for quick weekend get-aways. We are always pleased to stay here.

    « Great Location! »

Didn't even know this hotel existed in all my trips to the area- now that we are there more- been exploring- this hotel has nice, clean well appointed rooms- within walking distance of the greatest beach and a great restaurant - with breakfast included!

    5
« BW Seacliff - a great place to stay »

This was not the first time we have stayed at BW Seacliff. We have always been satisfied with the facility and service. However, ths time I was a little disapointed with the attitude of the person who checked us in - not the usual cheerful and helpful demeaner.

    5
« Sea Glass hunting for Valentines Day »

What a wonderful place to stay the facility is clean and the staff are so helpful. They are the greatest hotel in the area and so close to the beach. We had a wonderful dinner with Salmon and Rack of Lamb. We went to the beach and sea glass hunted for hours and came back to a warm welcome at the front desk and a great meal for lunch. They have a happy hour after 3pm and it was fantastic, great deals on drinks and food. Veronica and Ellen sure know how to help a customer, they have the best customer service at the front desk. Kayla in the restaurant is great too, she always is nice and has a great attitude.

    5
    « Comfortable, convenient motel »

We enjoyed our 1-night Valentine Day getaway at this motel. While it's not on the beach, it's a few minute drive to Seacliff beach. The staff was great, room was clean and comfortable, and restaurant was great. There's a nice outdoor patio option for dining. Free breakfast was a bit better than average. Families seem to enjoy the heated pool. Only downside is it was a bit noisy. Could hear kids playing in the pool until closing time (10pm) and some traffic noise. Next time, I might ask for a room farther from the freeway. Other than that, this is a good value for that area.

    4
    « Fantastic Economy Hotel! »

We spent 3 night in this great place. It was clean and very spacious. Our room and living room were separated by a door - could make for very easy planning if you are a parent. We had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and separate sink from the bathroom. They even offered extra little amenities like a makeup remover cloth and stitch kit (was totally not expecting that)! Severino's is wonderful, however, could be a bit loud on the weekends. We were okay with it, but we could see if others could get annoyed. The location was prime as well as the price. Breakfast was pretty standard - loved the oatmeal and waffles! Overall, we were VERY happy with our stay here and would definitely come back.

« Good Average Hotel with Some Issues »

This is a good option if staying in the Santa Cruz, CA area. Just off the freeway in the village of Aptos, the location is quiet and the property has a nice pool area. An onsite restaurant and bar are convenient although there are other good eating options in the village, like Burger. I originally booked a non-pool view room to lower the price but the room looked out to the parking lot and directly into the cars' front grills. Not too appealing so transferred to a pool view room which was better and about $20 per night more expensive. The A/C unit in the room was very noisy and since it was a cold night I had the choice of not sleeping or freezing. I chose the latter. There were no extra blankets available in the room. A full breakfast was included and was quite good. Front desk was accommodating in finding me an appropriate room. I was expecting a bit more for $136 per night in January. However will not rule out a future stay.

    4
    « Peaceful Comfort »

Convenient location. Clean, comfortable rooms, laundry and free breakfast looking out over lovely garden. Loved the heated outdoor pool for late night swim followed by relaxing soak in hot tub under the stars.

    3
« Great location, close to state park »

I checked in to the hotel and my room was not ready. Instead they gave me a handicapped room that was large and located on the second floor. I do not need handicapped, but thought it would be ok. Not. There was an adjoining room and I could hear the TV blaring through the door at 3 in the afternoon. I was then moved to a smaller room on the bottom floor that was dark and dank. Finally that night I was moved to a room on the top floor that was light and I felt, safer. There are no elevators, so I lugged my suitcase up and down the stairs several times. Because I am a frequent traveler at Best Western I received two free drink coupons. The location is next to the highway so it was close to work.

    3
    « Ok Stay. »

Carpet had stains and sections cut out. Lamp between beds did not work. Tub faucet knob came off. I had to screw it on with my fingers. Staff was nice. It is center to most things in the Santa Cruz county.

    5
    « The Best! »

Friendly, helpful staff, went out of their way to make my stay the best. The room was spotless, bed was wonderful, pillows were just right not too soft and not too hard, nor were they too old....if you have ever experience that you will really appreciate this Best Western! I was with a group that meets all over California 3 to 4 times a year and this was THE BEST in the past 5 years I have attended. Restaurant & Bar are a plus also.

    « Needs Updating »

This hotel is a combination of buildings that really need updating. We stayed in an accessible room that was quite large, but not really close to the breakfast area or main lobby. The room was very clean but shabby, with low windows that looked out into a parking lot. It was dark and dreary, somewhat depressing to stay in, but accessible rooms are limited in availability. Breakfast was okay, nothing special.

    5
    « A Great Getaway »

Friendly service is coupled with a lovely garden setting in a great location near restaurants and beaches. The bar is full service and offers an informal atmosphere. Best Western Seacliff Inn is located near Hwy. 1. Your stay can't get much better.

    5
« Older but Very Nice »

This hotel is broken down into several separate buildings, each building has an entrance door in the middle and at each end. The buildings are two story, stairs are made from stone and the hallway carpet looks faded. We stayed in building 5, second floor in a 2 bedroom room with a balcony. The room was very clean, recently remodeled, and up to date. The grounds, lobby, and restaurant are all clean. The staff is friendly, attentive, and professional. The hotel is self is across the street from a Safeway Grocery store, there are a few restaurants in the area. Location wise, you can get to downtown Santa Cruz or the Boardwalk in about 20 minutes, Ocean front in Capitola in about 10 minutes, and there is a state beach less than 3 minutes away. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area for a reduced rate, the value I paid for this room was very good..

    4
    « Nice and convenient! »

This is becoming one of my favorite places to stay while in the Santa Cruz area. It is always affordable, the location convenient, and the setting and grounds is very pleasing. You can't beat the free breakfast buffet in the nice buffet room looking out onto the koi pond and waterfall! Barring the young woman at the check-in desk who took 20 minutes to check in two rooms, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nothing luxurious, but they are clean and nicely appointed.

    4
    « Happy customer »

We where very pleased with the amenities and the rooms. The bed was comfortable the room quite we had a great nights sleep. We will be staying here again. It was centrally located and made it nice to visit Monterrey and Santa Cruz.

« Seacliff, where people are nice »

We stay at the BW Seacliff every year around Memorial Day. Serafinos is a nice restaurant, rooms are large and the staff accommodates changes happily on a busy weekend. Close to parks, shopping, wineries and the coast. Free breakfast, evening cocktails and parking.

    3
    « missteps »

Staff misquoted price when the reservation was made and then had attitude when questioned about the increase in cost at check in. Also there is no sound proofing and it was necessary, both nights of our stay, to contact the desk because of late night noise from other guests in the hallway and the room next door.

    5
« Sea Glass hunting at the beach »

What a perfect hotel to stay for a couple of nights, close to the beach and a wonderful place to dance to jazz or have a great dinner. The hotel is minutes from the beaches and we started a new hobby Sea glass hunting on the beach. We found whale bone fossils that are millions of years old and also we were able to find a lot of colorful sea glass that was softened by the churning of the ocean. Beautiful weather and a wonderful view of the beaches. You must try out New Brighton Beach. Talk to Grace or Veronica at the front desk of this Best Western hotel at Seacliff.

« Home away from home »

I love staying at Best Westerns! Always consistent :) Friendly staff, great food, and awesome pool - not to mention the complimentary breakfast in the morning - this Best Western has one of the best spreads I've experienced, probably due to the Sanderlings restaurant they have on site. Our kids love the pool and we love it too because its a great size to accommodate a busy weekend at the hotel. you can enjoy their great room service menu, hotel restaurant or eat at the local restaurants minutes away. All the rooms are great but try to request a ground level room facing the pool - makes it that much easier to get to the pool :)

    5
« Great Value; Great for Families »

We had a great family vacation at this hotel. It was a great value for the location and quality. My kids loved the pool and hot tub. I loved that it was a short walk to a beautiful beach and that it was close to stores and restaurants. Room size (two queen beds) was a little tight for 4 people, but its workable.

    « Much needed »

I have family in for the Holidays. I gave up my place for them. The Seacliff Inn was perfect for my needs. We ate at the restaurant there. Our meal was really delicious, the service was excellent. We had a small problem with the noise above our room and the staff moved us without an additional charge. That was really appreciated.

    « Seacliff Inn »

Best Hotel in Santa Cruz for the money. Great location. Close to beach and stores. Good food and cocktails. Better than average breakfast buffet to get your day started. Very cool outside patio and pool.

    4
« Good hotel en restaurant »

I stayed here for 5 days for business purposes and can recommend the hotel. It's a complex of a few buildings around a pool and koi-pond. Parking is available all around the complex next to each building. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Although quiet, you could hear the nearby highway. Also the heater is rather noisy. Breakfast is included and there is a a good selection. Only negative is that you need to go outside to reach the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very popular with the locals and there is live music on weekends. The food is good and prices reasonable.

    4
    « December Trip »

Hotel was great other than bar closed early on Sunday and our room was located at the end of an extremely busy & noisy breezeway. Might be nice to alert people to this when they choose a non-pool view room. I would have paid extra for the pool view to avoid the noise next time. Walls were a little thin or perhaps are neighbors were just very loud? Not the hotels fault though.

    3
    « Large Comfortable Restaurant »

We were 10 people for dinner and everyone had a good time with plenty of room. Everyone enjoyed their dinner choice - pork, hamburgers, fish, etc. The service was excellent. The wide variety of food may be ordinary but it is all good, nicely prepared and expertly served.

« BW Aptos was a very pleasurable stay »

I have stayed in three other BW in Northern CA over the past 3 months and I have to say the BW in Aptos is head and sholders above the others I stayed in. The grounds look and feel more like an upscale hotel. The court yard, pool and kio pond is beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable.

    « 3rd generation family trip »

We celebrated our Granddaughters 2nd birthday at the Seacliif Hotel this weekend. We now officially have 3 generations enjoying this top notch hotel. It never ceases to amaze me that the staff here always goes above and beyond to make my stay better than the time before if that is even possible. Keep doing what you are doing because that is why my family and I choose this Best Western for our vacations. Truly a 5 star hotel! Thank you!

    « Best Western Seacliff »

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip. The hotel is made up of several different buildings with either a view of the interior pool and landscaping or the parking lot. There is a free breakfast buffet each morning the restaurant. It was above average when compared to other hotels offering free breakfast. There was a sign that read "due to the egg shortage we can only offer hardboiled eggs". That was weird and made no sense. Every night there were lots of people in the restaurant/ bar. It offers good food with a fairly large menu. Most nights the local elderly population take over the bar and dance to the live music. It's kind of fun to watch. You kind of think they escaped from the retirement home. Besides the staff, I was the youngest person in there one night. The gym is small, but suits a minimum workout. The pool is good for swimming laps and the hot tub is nice to relax in at night. The rooms are clean and quiet. I would stay there again.

    « Overnighter! »

Stayed at this lovely hotel for the night after traveling along the Coast seeing Carmel, Monterey and many more attractions. Great service, Price was comparable, grounds were beautiful. I didnt get to partake of the morning breakfast as I was running a little behind. My room was comfortable and clean. The only complaint I did have was the hot tub wasnt HOT enough!!

    « Nice Stay »

Flew from Miami to San Jose for a wedding in Aptos, Ca. We stayed at the Seacliff Inn. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and quiet, and very close to the beach. They had a very nice breakfast buffet. After the rehearsal dinner, which was off site, we returned to the hotel and stopped in the bar for a drink and was pleasantly surprised to find a live band playing. The next day after the wedding, they also had the after party in the hotel bar as well with another live band. All in all, a nice little get away. Would definitely stay there again.

    3
« Unfriendly staff, useless internet »

The reception staff (Antonia/Ellen) did not make us feel welcome. There was no interest in assisting us with our questions or requests. The complimentary internet is completely useless ? slow and drops frequently. The restaurant staff was also careless and forgot to bring our side order.

    « BW Aptos »

Older but well maintained property. Rooms are average, a little dated in décor, but serviceable. Grounds are groomed and provide options for relaxing poolside or simply taking a stroll. Convenient Location, Courteous Staff, Good food and drink, comfortable stay for business or pleasure!

    5
    « Wonderful Getaway »

We really enjoyed the setting with the Koi pond, gardens and outdoor restaurant/bar area. Our room overlooked the pool which was heated and had a great jacuzzi. The rooms were spacious enough for my husband and I and our two adult sons for a two night stay for a wedding that was nearby. I highly recommend this venue as a great escape - great bar service and restaurant as well.

    5
    « Nice place »

The room was comfortable, and cozy. The night we stayed it rained. Can't say much about the $5 welcome drink, drinks were still pricy. It's nice that it's close to the beach. The breakfast buffet is very nice,

    « Great Aptos Value »

Very clean, economy hotel. Nice limited selection breakfast included, as well as a $5 welcome drink from the bar. The on site restaurant was very good, serving one of the best clam chowders I have ever had. Very pretty grounds, close to highway. Staff was very friendly, and helpful.

    4
    « Very nice property »

Right off the freeway, across from a small shopping center, this LUXURY hotel had a nice restaurant/ bar with outside seating with a large pond and waterfall (which is where the included breakfast buffet was held). It had an outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi and an indoor fitness room with a few pieces of equipment in a room without windows. My king room on the first floor had outdoor sunken seating adjacent to the parking lot. There were 6 or more buildings around the pools..

    4
    « A Happy Halloween »

We stayed in Aptos for Halloween, and were greeted by a staff dressed to the teeth in wonderful costumes. The overall spirit of the hotel and restaurant was happy and pleasantly festive. We always look forward to our stays at : Best Western Seacliff Inn.

    4
    « Clean pleasant property »

This hotel has clean rooms and nice grounds. Staff is very helpful and pleasant. Happy hour has tasty appetizers adjacent to a pool with a koi filled pond. The breakfast buffet is nicer than most complimentary buffets. The proximity to the freeway is very convenient. The beds are comfortable.

    3
« Good Hotel on Gardenlike Property »

The Best Western Seacliff is a solid choice while you are in Aptos. It is clean, and the front desk service is good. The pool and hot tub were well kept. It would have been good if they were opened a little later though. We were really enjoying the hot tub when security arrived to shut the area down. Breakfast was delicious and there were a lot of items to choose from. The bed was very comfortable. My favorite thing about the hotel was my balcony.

    3
    « I'd give a 3.5 rating if possible »

We took our granddaughter to a soccer tournament in Aptos and booked this room for a Saturday night about 3 weeks prior to our arrival. The room felt shop worn, the mattress was pretty soft, and the walls were fairly thin. In our opinion, it was overpriced at $252.00. The room had obviously been cleaned a short time before we checked in because it smelled like a doctor's office and we had to open the sliding door right away for the smell to dissipate. However, we did appreciate being able to get into our room since we were technically an hour early for check-in. On the plus side, we ate in the restaurant Saturday night and the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet the following morning was also good. The hotel is located right off of a freeway off-ramp in a very convenient location. I would rate it a 3.5 if I could.

    4
    « Good overnighter »

We stayed one night and found the shower to be the only negative experience (more splatter than spray), buffet breakfast included in stay is an excellent value. Good location, easy access to the freeway. Very pleased

    « FANTASTIC »

From the time of checking in to leaving...the staff is very competent, friendly, helpful. Very welcoming upon arrival. The room was large, clean...located by the wonderful pool and Severino Restaurant on premise. GREAT place to stay and centrally located. Close to beaches, stores, etc.

    « Excellent experience!!! »

This hotel has it all. A very pleasing environment, excellent services, wide range of activities, a great bar, live band that was fantastic, very nice restaurant with great food on site, and a quiet place after 10:30. A great place to stay whatever the occasion.

« Average Place to Stay »

This is an average hotel. I thought it was better based on the reviews but I don't appreciate unlocked corridor doors for safety reasons. Could hear right through the doors. Shower head was broken so it was like showering under a garden hose in the morning. Very disappointed.

    « Great Stay »

Traveling across country and wanted tto stay in Monterey. Was lucky to grt room at the Sea Clift Best Western. My brother and I were able to walk to old town and the motel staff gave some great advice as where to eat. We did not get to see Clint Eastwood but we did take the 19 mile drive around Pebble beach. All views around Momterey were beautiful.

    4
« Close to the Redwoods and the beach »

Stayed at this hotel on business with one day extra for sight seeing. Could easily walk down to the beach and a number of nice restaurants, < mile. Nisene Mark State Park was right down the road. A neat park of second growth redwoods. Good place to run and hike.

    « Great location »

Nice hotel. Has great restaurant and full hot breakfast. Very close to lots of recreation including Capitola and Santa Cruz. Nice well-maintained pool. Walls kinda thin. On-site laundry was helpful. I had to repeatedly ask for toiletries to be restocked as well as towels, as we had 2 for 4 people registered in the room. Try to book a room away from the freeway. Kids loved the Koi pond. Wi-Fi was sketchy at best.

« Very Pretty hotel, very relaxing »

My wife and I stayed here as part of a getaway at the end of our honeymoon. The rooms were very nice, and the hotel grounds were great. The breakfast buffet was lackluster, but not bad. The price for the hotel was very steep, but so were the prices for surrounding hotels and the rooms weren't nearly so nice.
