    « Good value hotel »

I stayed here for one night before heading off to a work retreat and found the hotel to be suitable. It is only a short 10 minute walk from the train station and is located on the main street located next to many bars and restaurants. My room was about the size I expected for Europe except the door didn't open fully into the room and luggage had to be lifted over the bed to enter. The furnishings were all modern and clean. I also appreciated a full tub in the bathroom as out of my 4 hotel rooms in one week in France this was the only one that had this feature. The only downside was the free wi-fi wasn't working during my stay and they only answer was "that happens sometimes and we have to wait for the guy to fix it". Breakfast was included and OK considering the price of the hotel but it wasn't the best, but it was sufficient. My colleagues and I noted that the hotel had a haunted vibe to it and we felt the hallways were very creepy as depicted in the attached photo. However, no ghosts were spotted!

« Central, perfect reception staff and up graded room »

We stayed twice recently, on the way to and from family. Each time we were upgraded to a better room than we had booked We stayed earlier in the Spring so we knew they had a small nearby carpark. I went to the reception desk and the lady immediately said, why not park your car and complete the booking in a few minutes time. So refreshing to have such helpful and thoughtful staff. Each way we had very comfortable rooms, even the room at the rear without a street view was still spacious and not unpleasant view over the rear of the hotel My one comment would be that for a big hotel it would be nice to have one international channel for news in English (I can catch up with usual television returning home, but world news is basic now) Breakfast downstairs was excellent, you have to look around to find cutlery etc, but good choice of small pain au cholate and croissants, fresh juice, bread, cheese, ham yogurts etc

« Good central hotel to spend a stopover to visit Angers »

A hotel within easy access of the centre ville. It has its own car park albeit not within the bulding but secure at €15 a night ? short walking distance away. The rooms are comfortable and the common areas are traditional and decorated with pleasant antique furniture . There are two restaurants, a bistro and a more formal restaurant both serving excellent French cuisine. The bistro menu was around €70 with wine and two courses. Breakfast is normal hotel fare letting the hotel down slightly from its otherwise high standard. The quirky lift might not suit everyone of a claustrophobic nature as it is narrow and only takes people standing in front of each other not side by side !.

    « Perfect location »

The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Angers and perfect for exploring the town on foot. The 4 star feeling is defintly there, the reception is magnificent and the decoration throughout the hotel is very rich and plush. Our room was also worthy of its 4 stars, the bed was super comfortable and the bath was much appreciated. We didnt have any noise problems from outside or from inside although you can hear people walking about in the room above. The service was good throughout and breakfast was good although a bit on the expensive side. Generally a very good hotel albeit a bit expensive.

    « Perfect location »

In the center of Angers BW hotel is in nice old building. Pleasant rooms but little tired, good brakfast and perfect location. As we arrived late and tired we had dinner in hotel restaurant which was quite good.

« Fabulous hotel like set for Agatha Christie novel »

Wonderful location in city centre for this sympathetically modernised old hotel. Our room is lovely. Bed is firm and big. Room is not large but is nicely decorated with a lovely view over a square and fountain. We did not use the restaurants as the city pedestrian areas are on your door step and the cafes are everywhere. Parking is secure, though you would not like to get a Land Rover or a Hummer in there. We found the desk helpful and friendly. Very quick to fulfill requests. We hope to go back.

    « Nice in Angers! »

We stayed in the triple room for six nights.(one king and one single) for our daughter who is studying in Angers for the year. It was hot, and we appreciated the aircon!. The room was a great size for three people. The front desk were always very helpful with our very limited French for taxis and directions, etc. (Built in concierge) The room was very clean, but housekeeping was our only complaint; not always consistent with replacing dirty glasses each day and housekeeping tried to rush us out on check out day. We were told it was 12pm and they kept knocking on the door from10am. (Even entered while someone was in the shower, ;)They have maintained the integrity of the hotel, which is lovely to see for a Best Western. It's was a bonus to have the elevator for all the luggage. Great for people with accessible needs. The location is perfect with the tram across the street and was a 10 minute taxi from the train station. Good restaurants within walking distance. I would defintely recommend this hotel and Angers! Beautiful city!

« Excellent in an upgraded room »

If you get upgraded as we did, this would be 5*. Rooms a little tired, but ours was large with comfortable King size firm bed, air conditioning, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. Friendly and very helpful English speaking reception. Secure bike parking. Bistro/bar expensive as you would expect, but good food. Main Restaurant was closed when we stayed. Ideal location. Very quiet rooms face a courtyard with no street noise whatsoever.)

« Central part of town »

A stylish hotel with comfortable rooms and modern furnishings. Front desk was helpful but could have been friendlier. Located on the main road with a lovely park just across from it. Good selection of bars and cafes close by. Stayed 1 night and had dinner in the bistro and would have liked better English descriptions on the menu as what we were served was nothing like what we thought we ordered and not enjoyable.

    « Nice room »

The room was very comfortable ( we had a Prestige room ) and quite big for French standards. The windows soundproof system was excellent ( there were two windows ) so you hear no street noise. The A/C worked very well too. It is near restaurants and city center. The building is pretty inside and the elevator is supposed to be the oldest in Angers. We had a problem when checking in ( the room was partially made ) but the management and reception were efficient at solving the mistake.

    « D'Anjou was Dang Good »

The Hotel d'Anjou is a bit (just a very slight bit) off the beaten track in Angers. It's next to a magnificent park. And it is within walking distance (15 to 20 minutes) of the famous tapestry. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Although it is on a busy thoroughfare our room was still quiet. There might be a more luxurious hotel in Angers but I doubt there's a better value when overall quality is considered.

    « Delightful »

Stylish art nouveau hotel in centre of town. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfy rooms. Nice furnishings. Room service and breakfast both delicious. Parking available. I would come back! No more need be said.

    « Good City Hotel »

Having spent three nights at the Hotel d'Anjou, I can thoroughly recommend it. It does slightly punch above it's weight i.e. it's not really as 'grand' as it might aspire to - but it's tremendous on a number of other levels. The rooms are comfortable with good air-con (it was very hot in mid-August) - a fine wifi connection too. The breakfasts offered a wide choice both hot and cold and were tasty, with a very personable lady to assist. The hotel also has a good restaurant and, while not cheap, it provided a really well presented and delicious supper. For those in cars, there is no parking on site but there is a secure garage (10€ per day) for hotel customers very close by. Just park up by the hotel, drop off your bags and you will be directed to the garage. All in all, a great base for visitors to this part of France.

    « A marvelous marble reception area »

A very pleasant hotel, close to the castle, shops and castle of Angers. The reception area, resplendent in glass, mirrors and marble provide a quite different hotel entrance. Excellent English was spoken (my broken French was only just understood!) and a very helpful concierge.

    « Very pleasant »

Stayed on our way to SW France. Very pleasant, helpful staff. Room lovely with a comfy bed and very spacious. Despite being on the main road didn't hear any traffic. We didn't eat here. We really liked Anjou, some beautiful old bits. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Wonderful »

After some of the other hotels we stayed in on our French tour this was a "Jewel" Lovely bedrooms with quiet aircon and in a beautiful baroque style, with a lovely large bathroom and plenty of drink and eats. central for everything and with helpful staff, especially the reception lad that walked the 100 yards to show us into the car park. We didn't eat in the hotel ,but would not hesitate to go again

« Lovely hotel in central location »

We stayed at Hotel D'anjou for just one night. Certainly not your normal Best Western hotel but nevertheless quite pleasant if not a little quirky. The building is 19th century and the inside areas are full of character. Interestingly, the duty manager proudly told us that the elevator was the oldest in Angers but was regularly maintained - I think that was meant to reassure us! The hotel is situated in a great location for access to the city centre and it has a private underground car parking only 100m down the road. Our room was very nice and clean with a good view over the square. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and overall I think we made a good choice of hotel. We had a pleasant night's stay and certainly next time we are in Angers this will be the hotel for us.

« Good hotel in city center »

I chose this hotel because it's in the center of Angers and it has a closed garage . I took the 10 euro upgrade for a larger room Nice bathroom, with bath, but without bathplug(?) , but the conciërge kindly found one for me. Airco didn't work , but window could open. I didn't take breakfast, I usually have a croissant and coffee. So you don't want to spend € 14. Parking was free of charge for motorbike !!!

« City centre but quiet... »

Well situated hotel with car parking, book ahead if possible. Helpful reception but there needs to be more staff on, if they are on the phone you can wait for ages.excellent breakfast, with charming helpful staff. We had the charme bedroom , fairly quiet except for early morning plumbing, but it's often like that in hotels.lack of toiletries is something to be aware of in a 4* hotel.....

« Nice place for a short visit »

We stopped for a night as we were driving to the Loire Valley. Has some charm as an old hotel and loved the old fashioned elevator. Rooms are modern and adequate. Hotel service is very good. Continental breakfast included. Parking in nearby garage.

    « Classic Luxury »

Classically comfortable grand hotel. Centrally located. Perhaps slightly faded. Private or on street parking available. Great WIFI. Fine breakfast. Lovely staff. Located close to the tram lines but no noticeable sound. Would definitely recommend it.

« Good Angers centre hotel - very convenient »

Good quality city centre hotel - convenient for tourist sites and transport links. Some of the best quadruple (!)glazing we have ever seen in a hotel room - next to a bus station but absolutely and blissfully quiet! Recommended. Note: lifts from car park to hotel not working necessitating a long walk around the streets with luggage to hotel - guess this will be fixed soon.

    « Renovated "beauty" »

The hotel is near the old city.It is renovated and it is in very good condition. The materials for the renovation are not expensive but it is not obvious. The rooms are clean and they have good view. The breakfast has high quality and a lot of different kinds of food. The stuff is very polite and helpful.

« Stopover on way back to London from South of France »

I chose this hotel as it took dogs, was central and was a good stopping point on the way home but was not really expecting much. Was very pleasantly surprised though - from the very friendly and helpful reception to a really beautifully done out hotel - felt clean and fresh whilst respecting the history. Lovely fresh quiet room with gorgeous raised bathroom. Did not feel like a chain hotel at all. Great location. Would def stay again.

« Best Location in Anger »

Wonderful hotel - beautiful decor, super location and great value. Wouldn't of stayed anywhere else and recommended it to other traveling family members coming later. Superb!! Room comes with wonderfull terry cloth bath robes and matching slippers, great restaurant on premises. Ended every day with Irish coffees served at the intimate little bar area.

« Not as good as it thinks it is! »

Restaurant staff a little pretentious to say the least, my duck was served raw and inedible, the only apology was to not charge me for the privilege. The car parking a long way from hotel and loading and unloading luggage is difficult. Comfortable bedroom and bathroom

    « Pleasant stay »

We spent a night here on a family visit. The rooms were well maintained and old style which made for a pleasant combination. The Blvd Foch used to be a 1970's urban thoroughfare but has been positively transformed with the arrival of the tram which passes in front of the hotel. The staff were polite and formal and I much appreciatef this. Apparently, the restaurant has a high reputation locally and so you need to book in advance to eat there. Fortunately, a 10 minute walk took us into old Angers and a large selection of places to eat dinner (I recommend la Cantine). The rooms are well sound proofed against the road but not so well protected from noisy guests who have lost their keys. This place has a lot of style and old world charm and has largely escaped its Best Western sterilization. Free Wifi by the way. Can recommend.

« Feeling royal in Angers! »

We stayed for one night in this hotel and we were very nicely impressed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very well equipped and clean, the bathroom very classy with all that one could need for his comfort. The hotel is central, you can go by foot to the city's attractions, it has a parking for those who travel by car, a nice restaurant where you can have a variety of dishes and the decorations remind you of the elegant hotels of La Belle Epoque. We simply adored it and will return for sure, if ever in Angers!

« Beautiful hotel with excellent restaurant. »

Hotel is centrally located in Angers and there is covered parking next to the Hotel which is essential if you are visiting by car. Helpful staff. Rooms are not large but was comfortable. Lovely restaurant served excellent food. Hotel was reasonably priced and whilst the restaurant was not cheap, it was quality and you get what you pay for.

« Not like any Best Western I've ever seen »

This is a beautiful hotel with a friendly prompt multilingual staff. They loaned us an adapter for charging our mobile devices and brought a fan go the room on request. We enjoy an oversized bathtub in the room. Prices are reasonable. In the dining room be sure to try the Cointreau souffle glace. Also try the little croissants at the breakfast buffet. I hope to stay here again.

« tattered without the chic »

One simply can not understand how this hotels has four stars, barely two stars would do it. You arrive and need to carry your cases up steps to receptionno one to help. Had booked two single rooms for two nights, the receptionist tries her best for us to commit to a third night for a discount, we declines saying we did not know if we would stay longer thank planed, her insistence was unpleasant. No one shows you to your rooms, the lift is filthy and very beat up due to guests needing to come on their own with their luggage and it's not being vacuumed. The rooms are tired, carpets with their cording showing and coming apart (I had to pull two carpet cords in order not to trip on them), whenever there seems to be a chip or dent in the wall or paint it just is summarily painted over with paint brushes that leave their bricels in the paint, everything is basically dingy with very low lighting which does not help. In one of the rooms the heating control was over two meters high, wonder what the short do? No insulation, hearing next door televisions in both rooms. In one room there were two doors, one that opens in, bumping into closet doors (that show signs of it) if they are open and one opening out. I once opened the door and missed by a few centimeters a maid coming down the hall. The hotel has no lobby, breakfast is served in what is I believe some sort of cheap bar with tables one on top of another, no space. We did not have it but were charged anyway for both days. We went to the restaurant the first night, rather pretentious despite waiters being in their shirt sleeves (both long and short) and very, very slow service but absolutely delicious. We could not believe we were in the same place, one of the best restaurants we have been to. It was such a culinary experience that we decides to go back the next night. Next night ordered exactly the same, inedible. This place is the twilight zone. Hotel inexpensive but very, very poor. Restaurant priced well the first night, the same the next but would have been better across the road at McDonald's (without exageration). Truly to be avoided.

« Good value and location plus a fabulous restaurant »

We stayed for one night having travelled from Paris by TGV (took just one and a half hours). The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the station and the main attractions of Angers and easy to find. The building itself is quite old and we found it very attractive including some of the interior décor which was pleasing, We thought the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. A highlight though was the restaurant - La Salamandre - where we had dinner. It was a gourmet experience in a wonderful setting. Make sure you reserve a table in advance because it is quite small and clearly used by non-residents.

« Great views and a large, comfortable room in a restored hotel »

We stayed here two night on a bicycle tour of the Loire. The hotel has a locked area in the garage for bicycles. We had a terrific view of the city square, fountain and gardens. The room was large, very quiet, and the bed was typical Best Western, very comfortable. The interior has been restored to a 19th century style, stained glass and plush, and has been beautifully done. The elevator is a single person wide, surrounded by a circular staircase, very quaint. Our breakfast was included and was quite good, with a good selection. Excellent experience!

    « Cheap and a great location »

Given what we paid for the 3 nights, we were happy to stay here and also it's a great location from the centre of town. The staff were really helpful and communication leading up to our stay was very good. The hotel has good secure underground parking which is what really attracted us to it. Although this parking is offsite, it really is only a 2 minute walk around the corner. The hotel itself is rather quirky looking in a nice way with an old characteristic lift, creaky floor boards and hallways that have come straight from an Alfred Hitchcock movie. The room was a good size and very airy with 2 large windows flooding it with natural light. Although the room was clean, it is certainly starting to show its age with pealing wallpaper and paint chipped skirting coming away from the walls which one would not expect from a 4 star hotel.

« Luxurious Room with view of the city! »

We stayed in room 120. It was fantastic! A large cornor room with windows that had 2 different views of the city. Easy walking distances to visitor attractions, shopping and restaurants. The hotel also has garage parking for a fee, close by and very safe. They also have a nice breakfast buffet. The hotel staff is excellent, helpful, friendly and all speak English. They were quick to help us with maps and distances to where we wanted to go.

    « Centre City excellence »

We really enjoyed our four days here. The hotel is centrally located within easy walking distance of the main attractions - Chateau, tourist information, cathedral, shops, trams, old quarter etc. Our first floor (a tiny lift) room at the back was quiet and although small was excellently furnished with a fully equipped bathroom - hair-drier, shaving points and mirror etc - lots of hot water for shower and bath. The dining room is quietly elegant, service first class, with a sophisticated style. The menu although limited is extended by the 'Chef's Suggestion' for each course - well worth asking about. The breakfast is an 'everything' meal - not much petit about this dejeuner. The only drawback here is the car park which is not connected to the hotel but is in the next street - a one way street going the 'wrong way' from the hotel. So it's a bit of a business to get there - and don't forget to get the numerical access code to open the garage door. Well recommended.

« Great Location, Clean Rooms »

The last night of our cycling tour brought us to Angers. This hotel, conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the train station, is also very close to lots of restaurants, shops and about a 15-20 minute walk from the Chateau d' Angers (a medieval fortress). We arrived in the middle of the day, to find a team of friendly and smiling faces at the reception desk. They quickly gave us a pass code and guided us to the parking garage, where we could lock our bikes for the final time. After an extremely quick check-in we took the elevator to our floor and off to our room. The hallways are decorated with rich black and red tones, yes they hallways are dark colored, but adds to the charm of the hotel. Upon entry, our luggage had been delivered. The room was of good size, as it had a king-sized bed, all of our luggage and a large bathroom. We had two large windows overlooking a square and just on the other side, a fountain. Everything was well taken care of, and more importantly, clean. Good air conditioning, in-room safe, all that we needed. We ate dinner at a local restaurant, however we did eat breakfast at the hotel in the morning, it was the traditional European breakfast, sliced meats, French cheeses, breads, fruit, juice and more. It was everything we needed to energize us for the train to Paris. A convenient location, clean rooms and friendly staff, what else could you ask for, when spending only one night?

« American Review - Elegant Beautiful Older Hotel »

Stayed in this hotel one night in Sept 2015 for business. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel since the name 'Best Western' in America does not inspire grand thoughts. The hotel is small but truly elegant and beautiful. The rooms are decorated with lovely antique furniture, bath rooms with marble etc. The hallways, small lobby, etc are decorated very exquisitely. The restaurants for both breakfast and dinner were very good. Of course a warning for Americans - dinner is 2.5-3 hours so be prepared. A few minor complaints: the shades for the windows were a pain to use. The elevator is extremely tiny and I only rode it once for fear it would break down. Also, once in the room I could not figure out how to call the front desk for a wake up call.

« its wondeful, we loved our stay, its a great hotel and very helpful »

we had a modest room but it was extremely comfortable and well appointed with a nice bathroom and great shower. Beds very good and well decorated,We missed the restaurant as it was full but went to a nearby recommended one which was great. AlI I'd say is the little things of milk for tea coffee were rather small and few in number...

    « Happy to help! »

We stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. I tried my schoolboy French, which they appreciated, but their English was of a far better standard! They had helpful recommendations for restaurants (and bakers, and patisseries?) and were a mine of information on local attractions Our room was not big, but was clean and comfortable with the only downside being the air conditioning, which was angled to blow icy air down your neck whilst in bed. The hotel has a nice courtyard with chairs and tables to enjoy a relaxing drink. The overall décor of the public areas was traditional and impressive, as befitting a hotel which is a landmark building in the city. The underground parking is excellent ? spacious and convenient

    « Road Trip »

A great hotel, parking on site and easy to locate. the room was very clean and tidy and very quiet. the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Angers was a great place to stay and we found some great places to eat in the evenings.

« Good reception staff, and pleasant room in a nice building. »

Negatives first. Breakfast is taken in the very small bar, and is buffet, mainly continental style, with addition of a couple of hot choices. If several people are trying to get food at once, it becomes congested. On a personal note, I don't want to eat in a bar, I want a restaurant. Biggest downside for me was the fact that rooms weren't serviced until mid Four on the Sunday. I wanted to have a shower and relax for an hour or so mid afternoon and this was not possible. Not the best cleaning job, either, and small things ,like all of the sachets of coffee were decaf , and I got two shampoos , but no shower gel etc. Now positives. Great location. Very helpful staff at reception, who coped with my failing French, and switched to English easily and professionally when necessary. Room a decent size, but wardrobe was a folding door that was stiff and hard to open. Bathroom adequate with good pressured shower over the bath, and good large sink...but, like so many hotels, lighting there was too dim. Great manually operated blinds which cut out all the light, making sleeping easy ( except for the annoying light on the air con control shining directly across from the bed)! Another plus was a sweet courtyard with chairs and tables, which was nice, as there is no guest lounge to relax in. The building is lovely, with much marble, and elegant touches. Buy your own water, was put in my room for my arrival, but never replenished, and they wanted either 3 or 4 E ( not sure which) for a small bottle from the mini bar in the room. Just a little more thought, and this could be a great hotel instead of a quite good one.

    « Lovely charming hotel »

Exceeded our expectations. Lovely hotel near to many Anger attractions. Beautiful spacious rooms with tasteful decor and all modern amenities. Helpful and friendly staff. Lobby and hall decor a bit quirky for my own tastes but still attractive and most importantly, very clean! Well done.

« Amazing value for money, good service. »

Nice toiletries, soft towels, we had a great bathroom (newly updated) and comfy quiet room with pretty decor. The front desk service was the best we had in France. Would recommend a stay here. The road its on has lots of shops, but its a little bit of a walk to restaurants.

    « Excellent »

Travelled around France for 2 weeks staying in 8 hotels in total and this was bar far the best. Excellent, vaguely art deco decor in the hotel with a funky lift to the rooms. Huge bedrooms; which is unusual for France. Reception staff friendly and helpful regarding places to eat and how to get the most out of Angers which if you have not been too ? is a must

    « Very good »

We spent nearly a week in this hotel and found the service excellent. The rooms are comfortable and the service is very good. The hotel is located in the centre of the city and offers, for a small charge, parking facilities.

« One Night Stop on Motorbike tour 2015 »

We had a lovely spacious room with much needed air conditioning. The room was clean all be it a little dated! The reception were very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is in a good location for...

« Our perfect home in Angers »

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Perfect location - just a short walk from the station and to the town centre. Tram stop right outside. Beautiful and comfortable room. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

    « Best Western Hotel d'Anjou, Angers »

The Hotel is well situated but is resting on its ancient laurels. The room although has an exterior door to stop noise (soundproofing) - it didn't. In a morning everytime somebody left we heard them go. At six o'clock this was not good. Infact if the two doors too the room were suspposed to be a fire doors they would neither stop fire or smoke due to the gaps around them. Bath in the room!!!! Upgraded from normal room with this in mind - could not swing a cat in it let alone bath in it. It was a shower in a bath cramped into the corner overall bad design of the bathroom, claustrophobic and bad lighting - very disappointing and not easy to use. The bed although king size was infact two single beds put together and I spent a lot of the night in the crack between the two beds not comfortable. The duvet was to small to fit inside the cover as there was a good excess of 30cm on the side of the bed without duvet Mini bar supposedly included in the price - what or where was is?? A can of juice and bottle of water in the fridge, according to the paperwork in the room these were chargeable????? Didn't eat in the resturant as they seemed overpriced compared to the other resturants in the town. Overall not one of the best Bestwesterns we have stayed in and over the years there have been many. Not sure how this hotel was rated a a 4star?

« Best Best Western Stay »

This hotel offers historical surroundings and beautiful architecture with a courteous and very helpful staff, all at a very reasonable price. We loved the decor of the room and the stained glass throughout. It made our stay in Angers very pleasant. Additionally, having a parking in the hotel in this pedestrian city made our stay carefree. Excellent quality deal!
