"Wonderful hotel"

I don't stay in hotels this expensive normally, but this is Anchorage, Alaska. I reconciled myself to $150, yet the reviews were not encouraging. I must have been at it an hour off and on with other computer work and this popped up for $107 a day. It was a day later than I immediately required. Booked it for the 2nd night, and got the 1st night at $200 + taxes,fees so mean was $150. I could see nothing coming close for that price. It's a very nice place for $200. The outside and pictures do not do the hotel justice. It is extremely clean; peaceful and quiet; easy to find and park; very pleasant, competent staff; nicely decorated; excellent internet and tv in rooms high quality. You might overlook by the plain pictures or because not prominent due to freeway. Lovely place.

The hotel is nice, avarage rooms but very clean. We had a very bad experience with the bartender, Dexter. My husband went to the bar and asked for 2 wine glasses, he told him it was our anniversary and we had a nice bottle of wine in the room, not only he refused to give him the glasses he gave him attitude and when my husband asked for the manager he told him that he was the manager. Hard to believe. The bar only had 2 guests and there was a tone of glasses on the racks. My husband went to the restaurant and a sweet young lady, Tori, gave him the glasses.

My overall experience was good. The comfort of the bed is amazing. Staff was good, no complaints. Like I stated earlier, the hotel would be more nice with a pool and hot tub. I will stay o. Best Western again and recommend it to family and friends.

I'm a retired Certified Executive Chef. Came up to Anchorage to get some heart issues addressed. I was in the hotel /restaurant business for over 35 years. Rooms. Clean, up to date, decent internet service, clean bathrooms, linens. Staff. Friendly, helpful and professional. Restaurant upstairs. Now I'm usually not impressed by hotel food, because it usually is what it is. Hotel food. The little Bistro upstairs has got to be one of the most underrated restaurants I have eaten at in a long time. The burger with the pepper bacon, and caramelized onions has got to be one of the best burgers I've had in years. Breakfast. Not often one sees perfectly done roasted potatoes and perfectly cooked eggs. It was very obvious to me the Management, Staff take a lot of pride in their jobs here. Front desk, house keepers, restaurant staff and even the maintenance folks were great. I'm scheduled to be back in Anchorage in three months. I am definitely staying at this Best Western Property next time I'm in Anchorage.

"Needs to provide airport shuttle."

Good facility, great bar, good staff. No airport shuttle or ability to schedule an early morning taxi. Could not pin down price of taxi until cab arrived in morning. I suggest they contract with cab company for standard fare and method of reservation. For folks like me on a tight schedule, the cab thing is a deal breaker on future hotel usage.

"Great place for extended medical stays!"

Excellent service all around. Rooms very well kept & clean. Newly remodeled, new TV's in every room. Clean & neat all around. Restaurant service is great, great food selection & price. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly, including room cleaners & maintenance staff. Long time staff so they always remember returning customers by name. Great place for family stays as well as individual needs. Location is great for most purposes including medical stays. I have been going to Anchorage for many years & I would stay at no other place. As usual, another great stay. Great rates, service and location. The room was very clean and comfortable. Used the restaurant for breakfast. Prices are good, especially compared to area restaurants and the service staff is friendly.

"Solid accommodations "

This place shows its age, no doubt about it. But the friendly staff, good breakfast (extra charge) and great location more than make up for the visible age of the hotel. Comfortable clean rooms and working heat and A/C.

"Another Excellent Stay"

Stayed here on a Friday night before an early morning flight out of ANC. Last time we were here for several nights. Our room was spotless; everything functioned as it should and temp control was spot on for this snowy night. Check in and check out desk staff were helpful, friendly, and pleasant. Didn't get a chance to eat on site this time. Our top choice for lodging when in Anchorage.

Conveniently located to Providence Hospital & Alaska Regional Hospital. Convenient to military bases(JBER) Parking is easy for wheelchair accessible/limited mobility guests. Front desk personnel are very friendly & professional. Restaurant serves delicious meals & room service is available. The room was spacious and beds were very comfortable.

We stayed in this hotel after a cruise in the Inner Passsge and it was the perfect place for us and the email was more reasonable than other Best Westerns we have stayed at. They offered a voucher which covered the dinner.

"Front desk willing to go beyond"

We booked a room here as it was in the price range we wanted to pay. When we checked in we were given a voucher for drinks or dinner with a certain amount off but it was too later so we were not able to use them. We also got a breakfast coupon too. Front desk employees were very friendly and answered all our questions. We were only there for a short time so we asked their opinion on what to see and do and if they would recommend things we thought we were going to. I appreciated their honesty. We were given a room on the 1st floor and being we were here during the summer it was really weird to see daylight out our window at 11pm. We did have an odd shaped room but nothing that didn't bother us. Beds were comfy, bathroom shelf was large and fit all our toiletries. Not enough towels for our liking but they happily provided more. Room was clean and did have both a microwave & refrigerator which we did not use. Free parking. Restaurant on site. Wifi.Located on Old Seward Hwy. We are a BW Rewards member and no problem at all with getting our airline miles credited to our account.

"Cozy hotel"

Very nice, plush hotel, with friendly greeters, very clean, rooms were plush, with comfy bed and soft plush towels. Plenty of hot water and great pressure in shower. Quiet, had a restaurant/bar on site, but we did not use. I would definitely stay there again!

"Comfortable Hotel"

Having stayed here numerous times, we always enjoy our stay. The staff both at the desk for check-in, and the bar staff has always been helpful and friendly.The rooms we get have been clean and comfortable, the either Queen Size bed that we get is usually also comfortable.

"Not the best BW I've stayed in... "

Upon arrival a bunch of girls talking about how their accounts are in the negative, one did notice me and asked if I was checking in... don't get me wrong, the beds are comfy and the room is in great condition.... although right next to a 5 lane street, it gets very very noisy... walls do not seem to do well with blocking out the loud and congested street noise... needless to say I did not get a lot of sleep here.. the place does have a restaurant or bat on the second floor but I did not visit them.. I most likely will not stay here again when I visit...

"Pretty lame"

Front desk girl was ok. I highly recommend requesting rooms from the 10's and up.... ie 110-120, 210-220, 310-320. The lower-end numbered rooms are close to the road and unless you enjoy not only hearing apd sirens going by every 10 minutes or the gnawing music of two crackwhores on the sidewalk yelling at each other, definitely go with the other rooms. Throw pillow literally reeeeeeked of mens cologne, I tossed that puppy. I used to enjoy staying there, used to be a good spot. I dont think I will be goingback to that location any time soon.

These rooms have been upgraded considerably since I stayed there more than a decade ago. Busy hotel, busy in the mornings lots of taxis out front to take you were you need to go. Friendly desk staff very accommodating. Early check-in is usually available if needed. Recommend as a place to stay nearby restaurants convenient to the hospitals.

I ended up extending my stay here due to more work that had to be done The restaurant and lounge here are nice and the food is good also. Very quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable. I just hope my next trip to Alaska is not in the winter. Will definitely stay here again when i return to Alaska

Well for the most part i stay at the Golden Lion hotel because it is an extremely comfortable stay. Rooms are awalays clean and most things are at your fingertips. Pros. Location, acess about everything in mins. Staff is friendly. Affordable. Inhouse lounge. Need a haircut they got you covered

I was in Anchorage for a weekend, and stayed at the Best Western Golden Lion Hotel. The hotel staff were all personable and friendly, and went out of their way to help when needed. This hotel gets an A+ for its personnel. The facility itself was dated, but more than adequate for my purposes. The room was quiet, the bed comfortable, the facilities all up to my expectations. Everything I could have wanted for this type of stay was provided: iron, ironing board, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, hair dryer, etc. One surprise was the dispenser for shampoo, conditioner, and soap. With some work, it was possible to get enough out for the job. After the first morning, I opted to use my own supplies. That was likely a hotel cost control device that should have been reconsidered. One definite plus was the shower head. Not only did it concentrate the water for extra shower pressure, but came with an adjustable arm. That was a nice touch. All in all, this hotel was very suitable, and I will likely stay there again on future visits.

The room was clean, the staff was appropriate at best, but considering the price your paying is the same as most other hotels of the same quality, it's disappointing and kind of ridiculous that they do not have a complimentary breakfast or at the very least offer a discount at the restaurant. I do "stay-cations" somewhat often as I live in the area and have been to other hotels of like quality and price and definitely prefer those environments over this hotel. Also, there were a lot of people lingering out in the parking lot all through the night.. slightly off-putting but nothing happened. All in all it wasn't a bad stay but in the future, I will be opting for a previously used hotel instead of here.

The front desk staff was not the friendliest. Quite frankly, I have received better customer service at gas stations. The rooms weren't as clean as they could have been; however, the housekeeping staff were friendly. There is no complimentary breakfast at this hotel, which is a bummer. But there are plenty of places to eat in the area. Great price, but you definitely get what you pay for...

The location of the hotel was in the middle of mid-town Anchorage. Easy to get to Dimond Mall, the theaters, and great restaurants. It is located right next to the Seward Hway and asked and received a room on the other side from the highway, so was somewhat quieter. I did miss my free breakfasts that is offered at many BW's now..

It is always a pleasure to stay here. The staff is always courteous and helpful, rooms are always neat and clean . I always recommend this hotel to my colleagues and friends. It is right on one of the major cross roads of Anchorage so access to everything makes it a super place to stay.

Well now how about some clear indication that this is a bona-fide top notch resort that goes above and beyond my expectations !!! So much professionalism in a humbled manner......I'm going to have a time of it just getting back down to earth now that I'm back in the thick of the old routine !!!....A memorable stay that won't be forgotten too soon....I see that the logo has changed to meet the tide of the times.....Blue is the groove that sparks the mood to go booking with BW........Peace to all.....The place to be....DON....

The rooms overall are nice. Appeared to be newly remodeled. The location and the clientele are the problem. Drunks yelling and banging on doors all night long. Unless you're one of the drunks, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Always stay here when I'm in Anchorage. Great service. The front desk staff is always helpful and will always find an answer to a question they don't personally know. (within reason) Plus, the room rate isn't bad either. The hotel has an exercise room plus Planet Fitness is close by. There is also a restaurant on the 2nd floor. Will sometimes eat breakfast there.

Incredible service from maintenance staff, to housekeeping, restaurant, front desk etc. Any staff member that I passed gave a hello, inquired as to my stay, if I needed anything etc. The waitresses remembered me each night (5 night stay) and welcomed me with a warm greeting. Rooms are clean and the beds are SO comfortable. Internet is fast and TV actually has channels to choose from!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. This is by no means a 5 star hotel, it does have 5 star service!

What i love most about Best Western is you can always count on their rooms to be quality. Despite this one feeling a little different from the outside, once inside the room it was perfect BW quality. Also very quiet even for being right off the freeway. One thing that stood out was the lemon water in the lobby, that one for me was a winner.

The hotel is an excellent choice for location. It is close to the major highway, downtown and the airport but quiet. The hotel staff were very helpful with info on local attractions and resturants. There were a number of national and local resturants as well as shopping.

The rooms were extremely large, the restaurant on site had amazing food and polite staff. The location is in the middle between the airport and downtown. A must try is the Moose pizzeria across the street but heads up there is usually a wait.

I need to preface this by saying I'm not the biggest fan of the BW chain but this place was good (I would have given it a 3.5 if that was possible). The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly. It was very quiet inside despite being conveniently located right off the highway. I found Anchorage to be a sprawling depressing suburb. There were restaurants within a mile or two but for every restaurant that was open there were two that were closed and falling apart. It is close to a very depressing mall with a Halloween Store as an anchor so you know, not a great place. The price was the deciding factor for me, it was half the price as any other decent place I found. If I was to return to Anchorage I would probably try to stay closer to downtown (or what is considered Downtown) although nothing in Anchorage is really that far away. If cost is key stay here, if not stay elsewhere.

Stayed for 2 nights post cruise in august. Hotel is about a 7 minute drive from downtown. Great, friendly service at reception. Checked in a couple of hours early but luckily the room was ready. The room was spacious and comfortable and clean. The only thing that could be improved is the daily cleaning service - No care taken when making the bed and iron and ironing board not put away. Other than that it was a comfortable stay and would recommend.

We always try to stay at a BW whenever possible. Everyone in our party was very happy with this experience. Good location, great coffee shop & bed's were very comfortable. This was our 3rd time to Alaska & love it each time. This location is close to everything you need with a large parking lot. We went to the Moose's Tooth for dinner, excellent pizza.

"Fairly convenient to airport "

Fairly clean basic hotel. Our room had a bit of an odor and A/C wasn't working but as it wasn't hot outside it didn't bother us too much. Staff was very friendly and had plenty of Anchorage recommendations. There is a bar that looked interesting but we didn't go in.

"Anchorage BW Hotel"

Hotel is nice and close to most things going on in Anchorage and has good parking area. The restaurant at the hotel is upstairs and we were there with only one waitress and the food was just marginal. Hotel is fine, eat somewhere else.

The front desk person was very accommodating as she found a room for us to stay so we could check in early. One of the ladies helped me with a printer that didn't want to work so I could print my baggage tags. They had freezers for us to put our 2 boxes of frozen fish overnight for free. The freezers at the airport sometimes are full and they charge also. They helped us in with our boxes and back out very early in the morning when we left.

"Great value in Anchorage"

The Check in staff was very efficient and friendly. Rooms were very clean. Restaurant served a wonderful breakfast. Music in the bar was nice. Girls at the desk were always kind to and greeted us each time we came in. They were quick to answer our questions and recommended some great restaurants.

"Nice hotel and nice rates"

We used this hotel for our two days before our cruise tour begins. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. Even though we were on the first floor there were four steps we had to get our baggage up. Its quite a ways from downtown so you need a taxi to get there. This is a decent place to stay if you don't mind being out.

"Always a good value"

We were checked in quickly. Reading another review, they said the received a breakfast voucher for 15 dollars. We did not receive such an offer. I got an offer for 20 percent off dinner but would have rather had breakfast. The room was nice and clean and spacious. No complaints.

We stayed for only one night, short visit. The hotel is located on a corner, but we had to make a u-turn out of the parking lot to get to the main street. We did not really look around for another way, in a hurry to go to the airport - which was not that far away, straight forward. There were gas stations located along routes to the airport to fill up rental car, which made it easy for us to get to the airport on time. The outward appearance is average, so is the inside. The hallways are painted gray, the wall color in the room was a little dark - would have liked to seen something more cheerful or relaxing. We did not have a good view from our window, except to the back lot. The dumpster was picked up early, and was a little loud, but we were already up and getting ready to check out. I would ask for a front or end room next time. The room had the standard amenities. The bed was clean and so were the pillows. There were no odors in our room, it was decent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will stay again, the rates were ok. Note, there are a lot of homeless near the area since it is not too far from a park. Some hang around the parking lots. The location is near a popular pizza restaurant, it's within walking distance and is well known among the locals.

We found clean rooms, comfortable bed and some good amenities like wi-fi. However, the room smelled of smoke, the room was not clean for our second day, some soap dispensers were empty and the card keys did not work the afternoon of our second day.

Stayed three nights. Checked in at 4:30 tired and grumpy. Monica at the front desk was very friendly and profesdional. She went out of her way to be helpful. Monica's a star. Everyone easy to work with uou. My room is clean comfortable and the location is great.

"Nice location (not downtown) and quality place, great value"

Well run clean, competently staffed, hotel offering claen rooms, clean bathrooms, nice amenities (breakfast, coffee in lobby), helpful people, taxis and tours pick you up here and it's a nice place to bed down economically for a night or two or three while taking day tours. Best Western and more so the Plus are well run establishments. Great wifi and TVS work well.

"Super comfy beds!"

VERY comfortable beds!! The location is good for a visit in Anchorage, not too far from downtown. But make sure you don't check in early. Tim the front desk person was far from friendly and did nothing to assist us when we inquired about our reservation. While we understood that 7am isn't check-in time, he could have at least offered to take our luggage, suggest breakfast spots to kill time, and offer to see if we could check in early. He was short with us, and seemed to be annoyed at our questions. I imagine he worked the "graveyard shift" so perhaps he was tired. Nevertheless, it would have been a much more pleasant experience for us to be greeted with a friendly person after our 6 hour red eye flight to Anchorage. I am giving this review 4 stars because the evening front desk employees were much more friendly and the room was very clean, and had super comfy beds. But Tim has to go!

"One Night Stay"

We used this as a one night stay when we flew in from King Salmon to start the next half of our adventure. Hotel was clean, rooms clean, Bed slept well, felt safe. No very close place to eat so we ate at the in house Bistro. No airport shuttle; cab was just short of $20 with Ubar at $18.

"Anchorage hotel"

Nice hotel with easy access to transportation. We made use of the guest laundry facilities since we were traveling over a period of time. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel was in a good location. It was easy to get around town from there.

"Good spot close to the airport"

This is a good spot to stay within easy driving distance from the airport. It is more economical than downtown locations, and rooms are nice. The staff was super! It is a short drive to downtown and you are right next to AK 3 for a trip either direction.

"Suitable, comfortable and clean"

We were here just two nights. We found it conveniently located, just outside the center of Anchorage, on the main highway. The room was spacious, very comfortable and very quite. Our room was on the first floor looking out on to the parking lot (free parking, by the way.) The staff was very courteous and helpful, providing us with maps and directions.

We paid AUD$108 and the room was huge. It was great to be able to spread out. Comfy bed too. The wifi was not the most consistent as it did drop out a bit, but not a deal breaker. I had breakfast in the restaurant and menu was good, food real good. The overall feel of the place is a bit tired, but for the price and room size it was a real good deal. Would stay there again.

"Comfy Room"

Very comfy room with two beautiful queen size beds. The gym was outstanding and somewhat unexpected. The restaurant closed early so didn't try that but the Moose's Tooth and Kinley's is close so no problem! Staff was helpful and accommodating.

"Horrible housekeeping and staff"

My husband and I have been loyal Best Western customers for many years now. It has been our go to affordable place for all our trips in California, Arizona and Nevada. However, this experience in Anchorage was pretty disappointing. When we checked in, we were not even greeted. The guy at the front desk was not suited to his job for sure. Later upon entering our room, we found that the toilet had been used and not flushed. On day 2, we spoke to a lady at the front desk about the shuttle service they had and she was equally unfriendly. As per her directions, we called the hotel when we were ready to be picked up at the Alaska Railroad station. The man taking the call said that the shuttle would arrive in 5 minutes. It took 35 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. The driving time from the hotel to the railroad station is 4 minutes. We could very well have walked back had we known this. After returning to our room, we saw that the housekeeping staff had not cleaned our room at all. While we understand that the towels may not be changed to go along with the hotel's environment friendly policy, that does not explain why the bed was not made nor why the sink and bathroom were not cleaned at all. We mentioned this at checkout and got an uninterested apology. Also, unlike other best westerns this one does not offer free breakfast. So, it is not worth spending a dime on this hotel.We do not recommend this place.

We like Best Western, they are consistently good, and well staffed. The rooms are above average, but very clean, including the bathrooms. This place has a restaurant too! Worth staying. We love that there is always lots of parking.

Booked well in advance to confirm a low rate. Great value for price paid. I can be a travel snob and this hotel met all my needs. Clean room and comfortable bed. Appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. AC worked great. Very close to Moose's Tooth (best pizza around). Would stay here again.

"Very inconvenient"

There was no shuttle service and the taxi was not there when we had ordered it. The room was Outdated. Poor internet, it kept dropping me and I had to resign on. Remote was hard to work. Slippery & uneven tub, that would not drain. But they did have nice lemon water in the lobby.

Close to airport and just off main highway 1. Clean and appears to be almost completely renovated (couple doors could be replaced). Quiet, wifi available, good breakfast in their restaurant. Mattresses very comfortable. Fringe and microwaves in rooms. Staff friendly. Not fancy, but good value.

"Very Happy with our Stay"

The best thing about a Best Western Hotel is their standards - Golden Lion didn't disappoint. The rooms were super clean and well-stocked. Another perk here is that there is guest laundry - $2 per load to wash and dry. For $2 you get an hour of drying time and everything will probably be dry in half that time. There is also a small fitness room and a business centre. It's also centrally placed for anything you might need. The only downside is the restaurant - which I know is not affiliated with Best Western at all - don't go there!

This location is close to conveniences. It is about 10 minutes from downtown and about 20 minutes from the airport. It has a decent laundry room, a bar, a restaurant (though limited), and a pool table for fun. They also have coffee available in the lobby, though they do not include half&half for coffee, rather, they provide powdered creamer. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are of good size. Rooms include microwave and refrigerator. Our tub was not clean, as I could see a ring around it. I find that Best Westerns are pretty comfortable and at a good price.

This hotel is not bad for the price and location. Its just a 12 minute ride to the tourist area and restaurants in down town Anchorage, and about a $8-$12 Uber/Lyft ride to the same area. This hotel is not in walking distance to any good restaurants or stores. There's a McDonalds and a few other fast food places about 10 min away by walking but you have to cross very busy streets. The hotel is clean, but looks a little outdated. The staff is friendly and will help you with any questions you have. My wife and I stayed there for two nights and would use the hotel again as long as the price is good.

This hotel is clean and quiet. The beds are super comfortable. Given that the price was better than Hampton Inn or similar hotels, we were delighted about the quality of the stay. Breakfast is not included, so factor that in when you compare costs. It's within walking distance to a McDs, and other restaurants and shops. The TV remote was in a cloth bag labeled "fresh remote". If that's any indicator, the room is VERY clean!

"Great - A++"

Stayed here for 4 nights while visiting family in Anchorage. Anchorage is an easy town to navigate and this central location is ideal for any point in town. Taxi cabs were also readily available outside. The hotel is clean and quiet, with ample parking. The staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful and made us feel welcome. The hotel runs very well. Kudos to Savannah at the front desk and to our housekeeper Carolyn who kept our room in tip top shape all week. When we return to Anchorage, this will be our first lodging choice.

Wonderful. I will recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about going to anchorage. The staff was very accommodating and their service was excellent. The location was extremely convenient for traveling around southern Alaska - on 36th Street right next to the New Seward Highway.

We spent several nights (in and out) during our trip. We had an amazing time at this hotel. The staff are WONDERFUL!!! They bend over backwards to accommodate guests! The only issue we had during our stay, one issue upon returning from Kodiak/before moving on to Seward, the shower didn't work. There was a brand new shower head and for whatever reason it just didn't work. We didn't think to check when we got to the room, so we had to improvise the next morning. We were to receive a credit or something on our room but didn't push it. The room assigned our last two nights in AK, if the window was open, would start smelling like smoke. We couldn't figure out why. But we let them know. There was nothing else AT ALL wrong with this hotel. They are great people and we will recommend this BW over and over and over!!!

My review will show excellent in all areas, not because I just go down the list. The hotel staff went above and beyond to accommodate us by getting our room ready early to adding a roll- away bed one night when we unexpectedly had two of our granddaughters stay with us. The rooms are comfortable and sparkling clean. The entire staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The food and service at the Bistro was exceptional.

"very pleasant overnight in Anchorage"

after a week hiking in the Kenai Peninsula, we needed a place to stay before our morning flight home. the Golden Lion was not too far from the airport, so we chose it. the hotel seems recently refurbished, the rooms are functional and comfortable, and the staff is very friendly, helpful. the only downside might be that the Golden Lion isn't in walking distance of downtown Anchorage (Lyft cost about $14).

"Good rate and amenities in Anchorage"

I booked this hotel a long time before the busy summer season and got an excellent rate compared to the other hotels in Anchorage. We had a very large room with two queen-sized beds. There was also an easy chair and a desk and chair. There was a medium-sized refrigerator and a microwave. The wifi was speedy. When we checked in we were also given coupons for 20% off dinner in the hotel restaurant (which we didn't use) and $15 per person credit for breakfast (which we did use and covered the cost of our breakfast). The only glitch was that we couldn't get the TV to work. The hotel sent up a person but he couldn't get it going either. Rather than changing rooms we just did without the TV as we're not big TV watchers (but I gave the hotel a lower rating for not having an operating TV and not being able to get it fixed). We were just staying in Anchorage one night between a cruise and Denali Park and this hotel suited us very well.

We were dead tired after getting off our cruise ship at 6am and taking the 5 hour cruise train to Anchorage from Sewerd. Phoned to see if we could check in a bit early and right from then we were treated with the utmost courtesy from the staff. The check in was very fast and a very friendly gentleman grabbed our 2 large, heavy suitcases and heavy carry-ons and insisted on taking them to our spotless room and setting them up on the suitcase stands for us as we are seniors. Downstairs right beside the check in desk was complimentary coffee, tea, ice water, juices etc.which was very welcome. The room was very nice, spotless as I mentioned as was the bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable. There was a nice large writing desk and chair with a nice information file of local information on it. Very strong free wifi that was a snap to connect to. There was also a very comfortable easy chair and foot stool ln the room along with a big screen Tv with dozens of channels.On each side of the king bed was a nice night table with drawers. There was quite a few large drawers in the room furniture and lots of hangers for clothes that hang. There was a coffee pot with coffee, cups etc. provided in the room along with a microwave and small fridge. A hair dryer ,iron and ironing board was also in the room. The bathroom was large with a combination tub and shower. There were large dispensers of shampoo and conditioners and soaps also along with lots of towels. We also received a voucher for 2 breakfasts up to $15 each in their dining room. The staff were all very nice and were quick to ask if we needed anything. The taxi to the airport cost $20 but the downtown hotels were much farther away. Our stay was very pleasant and we will stay there if we visit Anchorage again.

This motel was an average Best a Western the only problem is that it is not close to the airport and they don't provide a shuttle. We had to use a taxi and it was $20 each way. The breakfast voucher provided at checking was nice and used it to have a nice breakfast.

We stay at the Best Western Golden Lion every time we are in Anchorage, and we only live an hour away! The staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful! The rooms are always clean! The lobby and hotel itself are clean and have a nice appearance. We feel right at home! Every hotel room has a refrigerator and microwave, we LOVE that!! Also, the location of the hotel is close to downtown and UAA campus and restaurants!

We arrived at about 2:00 our room was not ready so we stored the luggage there and walked to the moose tooth pub a couple of blocks away . We came back and the room was ready we just needed it for a couple of hours till our flight home . The ladys at the front desk were very friendly .

This hotel was close to all highways leading to everything. It is located near shopping, restaurants and only about 5-10 minutes from airport. It is in a quiet area of town and rooms were large with a refrigerator and microwave. Would highly recommend.

Late arrival and everything went super fast and Smooth. The room was very clean and clerk was very friendly. Complimentary breakfast was vouchers for the both of us to a restaurant upstairs. Each being worth 15 dollars. Parking was not a problem and the location was just a short drive from the airport!!

We spent four night at this hotel and were very satisfied with our stay. The staff was very helpful with suggestions for things to do in Anchorage. Everything worked well, even though this is not a newer hotel. It would have been better if this was closer to downtown, but it is a short cab ride away, so not a big deal.

We spent two non consecutive nights at this hotel on opposite sides of our week long adventure in Alaska before our cruise, and on both occasions were happy enough with our stay. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. There is a fridge, microwave, and flat screen TV in each, with free wifi and parking. The curtains are okay, but they could be darker, considering the amount of light streaming through the sides at all hours of the night. We had breakfast at the hotel bistro on both occasions. Service is not great - we went at opening time on the first morning, and waited about 45 minutes for our food to come out. The second time, a little later on, and it took an hour from when we sat down to when our meals came out. That's really not good enough, any which way you look at it, especially as most people there, like us, would have had places to go. We might stay here again if the chance arose, but wouldn't bother with breakfast again unless significant changes were made to the way it's run. Comfortable stay, but certainly not memorable.

Located very close to everything in Anchorage. There is a Fred Meyers (think WalMart/Target) you can walk to it , WalMart Supercenter, Carrs/Safeway, Costco and Target within 5-6 miles away. The Airport is about 6 miles away. Downtown in only 4-5 miles away. The Golden Corral buffet is only 3 miles away and yes, "Best Deal in Town". The New Seward Highway is right by the hotel, if you want to go north or south. If you do not want to hear traffic, get an odd numbered room (we were on the 3rd floor in an even numbered room. The restaurant, "36", is comparable to most restaurant prices if you do not want to wander about a unfamiliar city. This is Alaska, in summer 19+ hours daylight, sun sets at 11:30 PM and rises at 5:30 AM. Two computers and printers on first floor, coin laundry ($2 for wash, $2 for dryer and $1.50 for soap). Exercise machines. NO pool. Adequate parking. This Best Western's free breakfast is a voucher for a maximum of $15 each (total $30) and seems to be limited to a maximum of TWO even if you have more in one room. The day that you check out, NO breakfast which is different than other Best Westerns and the competition that also offers a free breakfast. The vouchers come with 2 complimentary drinks (get juice, run down and bring up cups of the free coffee). Restaurant on the 2nd floor, tell the waitress, the drinks are come with the voucher. Breakfasts runs $10.50 to $11.50, if there are more than 2 of you, get large breakfast and several "sides" running from $4.50 to $3.50 to $1.25 to get close to $30, we did that with 3 of us. Breakfast ends around 11:00 am. Staff is friendly. Other than breakfast, I have no problems with this Best Western. As Best Western member, they gave me ONE welcome gift consisting of ONE water bottle, ONE Cheetos and ONE Ritz Bits crackers....and there were 3 of us.... Tub drained slowly. Small refrigerator and microwave in the room. If you are a Costco member gas was $2.61. Gas was $2.71 to $2.73.

The hotel was clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. Monika was at the check in counter was so pleasant and helpful. A real delight! We had a restful night and got up in the morning for Our free breakfast in the 36 bistro located on the 2nd floor. You get a free breakfast up to $15 each. You can't beat that!

Older hotel that has been redone but still had older features. Positive: clean room, clean bathroom, clean sheets. Bed comfortable enough. Staff pleasant on checkout. Staff responsive to requests for more towels. Negatives: Pillows lumpy, weird smell in hallway, not enough towels in room so had to ask for more (3 towel sets for 4 guests). We also stayed at another hotel in town during our trip which was less expensive and offered free breakfast. Overall: would not recommend this hotel for folks used to Comfort Inns, Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inns as we are. The staff tries hard but can't overcome the price issue and older, aged property.

Front desk MONICA was really helpful despite the business and many disruptions during my check in. She managed to stay very attentive to my family and i!!! Which is very important when staying in a hotel. As for the rooms itself they were very clean and beds are so very comfortable. I called the front desk because there were people being loud in the hallway and i thought for sure it was going to get worse. But to my surprise the front desk lady (Monika) handled it all with ease. So I just want to thank the beautiful women who did her best to make my short stay tremendous. I am a very critical individual and personally know how hard it is to be nice to everyone,it gets tiresome but to be genially nice and honest is rare and that lady has it. "Glad we booked here"

The bed was very comfortable. There was kind of a table-runner-wide extra going across near the foot of it to keep your feet warm at night and it was absolutely genius. The mini fridge was wonderful to have and the dispensers for soap/shampoo/conditioner/lotion were definitely the way to go. I wish I'd known there would be a hair dryer in the bathroom--I would have left mine home. Best of all the staff, at all hours, went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming and helpful and when we said we were in town to help with a new grandchild were as thrilled as if he had been their own. All in all a great stay and definitely the place I'm booking next time we come.

"Bad Customer Service by Staff"

When I arrived the front desk clerk did not greet me. She continued to do whatever she was doing on the computer as if I was not even there. I had to address her before she knowledges my presence. She seemed very unhappy to be at work and did not smile once. She gave no information on any of the amenities for the hotel. I inquired about breakfast which she was clueless about and she gave misinformation regarding the full service restaurant that I didn't find out about till after I had left the hotel and gone and had dinner at a different restaurant. Later in the evening I called to get an extra blanket and was told that they do not give extra blankets so I had to spend the night very cold and uncomfortable. Every staff member I had contact with was miserable and very unpleasant to deal with. I work at a hotel and this experience was the worst I have experienced in years.

"Nights Stay at BW 3 27 17"

Hard to give rating on service. The staff hotel was excellent and the room service restaurant was not good. Took over two hours to obtain soup, drink and a desert. They called the room after one hour to ask if we were coming for food. I stated no that I wanted it delivered. It took them another hour to bring the food to us. Soda was watered down and no ice, soup was slightly warmed and dessert was oood at least. We did call another restaurant to bring us more food.

Quite a few issues. This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel and we will not be back. Burnt out lightbulbs, bulk lotion dispenser held rancid lotion, a lot of noise in the room when we requested a quiet room ( we were placed in a room right next to a major busy road -36th Avenue) and had to pack up everything and request to be moved to the opposite end of the hotel where it was much quieter. But absolutely no apology or acknowledgment of the fact that this was a major disruption to our short stay. The hotel has the general appearance of being rundown. It does seem like they are trying to address this because they were replacing whole carpeting while we were there. But this hotel has a long ways to go. Considering that this is priced at $85 a night in the winter I would be quite unhappy if I paid the summer price!

We booked through Costco travel site for one night. It was excellent stay and clean and the front office was very friendly. Location was only the issue. But we had a car and didn't have any issue. Definitely would recommend to anyone.

"Clean Bathroom!"

We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our room. The bathroom was really clean which is of great importance to our family! The shampoo, conditioner and soap dispensers in the shower are so much more convenient that the small amenity bottles in other hotels. With the dispensers, we didn't have to worry about running out of shampoo or conditioner with our family of four. The beds and pillows were comfortable and smelled fresh. We always request a room on the top floor because it is much quieter. The street noise was minimal and there was no noise in the hallway. We enjoyed a quiet night and slept well. This hotel is a nice, reasonably priced place to stay with our family. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Anchorage.

We held our first company training outside of our office this year and choose the Golden Lion. We had a social even the evening before with rooms booked for convenience and safety. The hotel rooms are very spacious and clean, the beds very comfortable. We had the hotel cater the evening event as well as breakfast and lunch and they did an awesome job for all meals. Over all they were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs - we would book here again

Was satisfactory, but, didn't get my room cleaned till a day before we left. We were also in a hurry to check out but was a long line, tried to get the attention of one of the workers but, she just ignored us so we just walked out and left because we were almost late for our check in. Rooms were nice, customer service was excellent. Except I over heard one desk clerks loudly claimed he was "off the clock" in his word as he sat behind the counter, and was not willng to help another desks clerk complete a task of some sort. Other than that, nice hotel stay, great breakfast too!

quick trip into Anchorage for a medical treatment. the hotel was very well placed in my need for closeness to the medical office. the front check out desk person was very nice. she was very helpful at checkout. they will keep your luggage if you need them to, until your evening flight or time to check into the airport. Stayed here August 27th 2016. Customer service was great, from the way we were greeted in the lobby to any inquiries we made. Check in and check out was a breeze. Rooms were clean,comfortable and spacious. Complimentary coffee in the lobby was a bonus. We booked using air miles so I was unsure what service we would receive but it didn't make a difference.

We stayed here due to the good rate and it was on the recommended lodging list for a convention we attended. It is easy to find, right off of the Seward Highway. It is within 15 minutes to any of the main locations you are likely in Anchorage for, medical, less than 15 to Providence Hospital, ANMC and related clinics, less than 15 to downtown area by 5th avenue Mall, and less than 15 minutes using the highway to Dimond Center area. So very good all around that way. The entryway is kind of oldish, and dated, but clean and the staff was great! One young man even helped a lady with a loaner cane until she was able to get herself a new one. She lost hers on the way to the hotel. We were impressed! The elevator is way dated and old but worked, the rooms and hallways have been updated somewhat and are clean at least. No fan in the bathroom which is a pet peeve of mine. The tv and internet were very good, the air conditioning was just ok, not awesome. Overall, it was good for the price, felt safe, and the location made up for any other failings it had.

The room was very pleasant. The beds were very comfortable. The location was excellent for our purposes. I thought that breakfast in the restaurant was quite good. The only negatives were the super warm elevators, and the fire alarm that went off in the middle of the night when the kitchen staff was degreasing the grill.

I am a conference planner for a large medical association so I see A LOT of hotel rooms. The room was very large and the beds were extremely comfortable. The room was quiet that night, but that usually has a lot to do with your "neighbors." The room had a fridge and a microwave. We had a small view of the mountains. I would suggest the hotel spend a small amount of money and install extra lighting. The room was very dim. The door to our room did not fit well into the frame (313). But I still felt safe as we could lock the deadbolt and flip the other lock. I was under-impressed with the hotel staff (2 gentlemen) on the night of our check-in. Neither of them seemed to know who was using the computers at the desk or what was going on. I felt sorry for a solo woman who checked in at the same time. She showed up a couple of minutes later saying someone was already in the room they gave her - people's belongings were in the room and everything was used and beds not made. I hope this was a single incidence. The other staff we ran into during our stay, including front desk when we departed, were very pleasant. The only real gripe I had is that they give free breakfast vouchers to people who stay there UNLESS you have some sort of discount - ours was a AAA discount. I have never heard of such a thing in my 20 years of meeting planning. The hotel is very centrally located to every place we needed to go before departing from the airport the next afternoon. It is nice that they have a noon check-out.

The Gold Lion is in a great location to access downtown and the airport. We always stay at the Gold Lion the night before we fly home. The staff is always helpful. We to to Alaska for the fishing. The Gold Lion will store our fish in a freezer overnight so we can check it as luggage instead of having to ship it.

The name would suggest a nice place to stay, however my wife and I spent a couple nights here and weren't impressed. There is no shuttle to pick you up or take you anywhere, you have to call a taxi or use the bus. The staff was courteous but the restaurant is so so. There was no clock other than the microwave which was across from the bed and was so bright it was hard to sleep. The bathroom was in need of repairs as the tub dripped all night and the shower head was very loose. The exhaust fan didn't work and the towel hook on the back of the door was falling off.

I stayed here for 5 days last month but I would not have stayed here if I didn't collect Best Western Reward points, due to being overpriced. This hotel would probably go for about $89 per night in the lower 48, nearly one third the cost, and that ratio is normal all over Alaska, restaurants and hotels are about 2 or 3 times more expensive than they should be. On the negative side, the price was $240, the toilet did not flush when I first checked in, the staff made an error with my billing, there is no free continental breakfast but you can pay for one. On the positive side, the staff is great, very helpful, they gave me pointers on where to go and what to see and fixed my toilet and billing issues within 24 hours. The location is 3 miles from downtown, 1 mile from the University of Alaska, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The wifi works in the room, there is cable tv, hot showers, and air conditioning, all of the basics i expect in a room, especially one as overpriced as this one.

Cleanest room I have stayed in a long time. Kudos to the housekeeping team. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I was blown away with all the TV channels. Very nice surprise. This unrenovated 1970's highway-side motel was only acceptable. Sheets were clean and bed was comfortable. The good things ended there. The non-smoking room smelled of stale cigarettes, the old carpet had a couple sticky spots, and the room was a bit noisy with the Seward Highway right out front. The wifi and digital cable TV were both unreliable.

We stayed here on August 7 for one night and again on August 12 for 3 nights. The first night was not good (we were not welcomed as Loyalty members and didn't feel welcome) so we were not looking forward to the next visit. When we registered the second time we were greeted warmly and welcomed. Our first night was on the first floor in an even number room. The first floor actually has several steps up to the hall where the rooms are. This room had some problems - the shower head wouldn't stay up on the bar, the TV remote didn't work and it was ultra noisy from the parking lot, the highway and the floor above. The next morning we asked to be moved to an odd number room on the top floor. They were very gracious about letting us move. We had no further issues. Good things: refrigerator, microwave, TV, coffeemaker. The bathroom has white light bulbs which is nice. The staff is very nice. There are elevators. A restaurant is on the premises. No complimentary breakfast unless you stay multiple nights - we got breakfast vouchers.

The price was right, the location was convenient and the staff are friendly and helpful but the hotel itself is unappealing. The lights didn't work in the elevators and one had doors that wanted to close too quickly. We stayed three nights in two different rooms, and in both rooms the carpets were grungy and a layer of dust was visible around the edges. The chair in one room had a bad stain on it. The room door and bathroom doors seemed to be off kilter - the room door did close securely. The first night they put us in a room on the highway side and assured us the noise would stop overnight - not true in our opinion! On our return, they did put us on the other side of the hotel which was much quieter. My other issue is that the website says "breakfast available - charges may apply." It should be clearer that breakfast is available in the onsite restaurant and you will have to pay for it or go to the McDonalds two blocks away.

Feel like I got conned on this one. They talk about being close to the airport yet it is a $25 cab ride each way. That's without a tip too which cab drivers depend on. So anyway no free airport shuttle. Rooms was nice and the Sushi restaurant nearby was excellent. Be aware of unscrupulous characters hanging out at the bus stop out front and make sure you get a Yellow Cab not a Checker cab. Checker left me hanging for over 30 min. Yellow Cab saved my trip and got me from the hotel to the airport in 10 min.

As we planned our vacation to Alaska I was blown away with sticker shock. Everything was horribly expensive, including lodging. We ended up choosing Best Western Hotels for our lodging in Anchorage, Homer and Seward as the best balance between quality and our budget. We found that the Best Westerns are about $100 a night more expensive than they would be in the lower 48, but substantially less than most other options. This particular hotel had no breakfast buffet, but most of them are worthless anyway, so no great loss. The size was nice and it was clean and conveniently located on the main road that heads toward Seward and Homer.

This appears to be an older hotel, however, it is nicely maintained. It's very clean and comfortable and the service is great! We stayed here heading to and coming from the peninsula for a family vacation. We have a family of 5 and they graciously brought up a roll away bed to make us more comfortable. We would recommend staying here to anyone.

We made a last minute booking at this hotel on Trip Advisor. When we got to the front desk we asked to see the room first before officially checking in. The room was on the bottom floor, right next to the front desk, 2 elevators, and flanked by a very busy parking lot. It was also a handi cap room so all the counters were extra low. We told the front desk clerk this would not work, we would not be able to sleep in the middle of all this noise. We left to go to another hotel. When we got back in town, discovered that we had been charged for a room we declined. We called this hotel to discuss this, Lisa the manager was very rude and screamed that she was refund the hotel charge as it was our fault for booking through Trip Advisor. We are waiting to hear from Trip Advisor to work this out. Lesson learned don't give them your credit card because if you get there and the room is unacceptable, this hotel will still charge you.

Friendly staff, but our stay was spoiled by having neighbours for the last 2 nights having a party with blaring music, yelling and banging on the walls. Staff was able to shut it down at 12.30am the first night but we moved rooms to get some sleep the second night when the party started at 9.30pm. One would think that noisy patrons spoil the stay for many!! Surprised they were not kicked out.

When I first got to Alaska I stayed here for a week. There is a stuffed lion in the front, in the lobby. Front desk was helpful, they helped with my luggage. There are three floors, I was originally on the 3rd floor. I asked to be near the restaurant and lounge, which is on the second floor. They switched my room on request. Front desk gave me a map of downtown and told me about Moose's Tooth pizza. Housekeeping was very friendly and attentive. My room was always clean when I came back from spending a day downtown. The prices are affordable, I paid $201 a night. There is coffee and water in the lobby, this hotel has free WiFi and a business center, fitness room, a public laundry room, vending machines, an ATM machine, a bar, a restaurant, and dancing! Big, clean rooms with soft oversize queen beds.

This Best Western appeared to be old, as the rooms and common areas were pretty worn looking. Despite its worn appearance, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We got a good nights sleep, which, I guess, is the most important thing. It's worth noting that the staff was extremely nice. This hotel is a little pricey, but so is all of Alakska in the summer. On the fence on whether we would stay here again.

I love the option of soft pillows and the beds are very comfortable. I always get a good nights sleep at Best Western Motels. The staff is always helpful and very kind and courteous. the rooms are clean and well stocked. The restaurant has very good food choices and was not overly expensive for Alaska. They have recently remodeled this hotel and it is now a very desirable place to stay. I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good nights sleep in a clean hotel.

Checked in here on a Tuesday on our way back from Denali National Park. After the beauty and solitude of Denali, it was an adjustment getting back to a big city. The hotel is at a very busy intersection - right next to the Seward Highway which is the one of the two main thoroughfares in and out of Anchorage and another main downtown street. Traffic buzzing by all day and night. The hotel literally sits right on the corner so if noise bothers you don't stay here. I asked for the quietest room available when I checked in (hoping to get on the quieter side of the hotel away from the highway) and the clerk put us on the 1st floor right next to the highway.....even though I had to be one of the first people checking in that day (around 3:00 - very early). I could hear trucks, etc through the room walls. They need to soundproof the rooms better. The clerk said the hotel was full and to get me a better room would involve "shuffling" people around. So right off the bat I was not happy with my room location. The room however itself was very nice. Spacious, clean and modern. We tried to find a restaurant that night but traffic was horrendous and we were tired so we circled back and ate at the hotel restaurant. It was totally empty. But the food was OK - nothing spectacular but adequate. We also had breakfast at the hotel the next morning. Service was fine. Anchorage is extremely overpriced. Most major hotels run $200 or more for an average room. Not sure why other than many people stay here as a stopping point for cruises, etc. We paid $185 plus tax for this room which would probably run $100 to $150 in other parts of the country.

Stayed twice at Golden Lion Best Western during our vacation.. It was quiet, convenient to Seward Hwy 1. The restaurant (received free breakfasts) food delicious and service great. This is a run down, dirty, noisy location and at $250 a night (even for Anchorage in the Summer) this is not a place to stay. The best western golden lion hotel is very satisfactory as a transit hotel and as a lower cost hotel in Anchorage. It is convenient from the airport, the rooms are large and comfortable, there is a restaurant and the staff are friendly and helpful. We booked using Hotwire and did not know which hotel we would stay at until we purchased the night. We were pleasantly surprised at what we got and the price. The price was radically different to the hotel we were booked at for the following nights. We would stay at this hotel as an economical and very satisfactory place to stay

This Best Western fit my attitude very well. It is not the most fancy hotel, but, the staff was especially friendly and helpful. It was conveniently located slightly out of the downtown area and near easy access roads. There are many decent restaurants close by, although the Moose's Tooth always seems to be extremely packed. I did not get to eat there because it was so packed. Sleep was difficult, not because of the hotel, but, because of the sun being up nearly 24 hours!

This date 60s 70s era hotel is in awful condition. Date threadbare carpets, beat up walls with paint peeling. Room was somewhat better however. Not fancy but adequate. Staff however were super nice and helpful. Next trip I will look elsewhere.

The pull through spaces were big enough, but not very level - sufficient for our needs at best. The staff, however, was really unaccommodating and rude. They didn't particularly want to answer questions. Left a note on our door one day because they thought we hadn't registered and paid for a site. Laundry room was clean and spacious, but not unlocked at the designated time. Ladies room was the worst - it always smelled like mildew. Certainly would't pick this part again.

My floors were obviously not vacuumed. My 4 year old found a small white pill on the floor. Luckily, he did something out of the ordinary and asked first before he ate it. There was a used towel hanging from my shower rod!!!!! The bath filled up to my shins during my shower. It obviously needed drano, I've seen this same complaint in other reviews. And I found hair on the towels! The elevator was super sketchy. Multiple times I got in and the doors shut and then nothing happened after pushing the button over and over to get to a different level. The lights never lit up either, so you didn't know what floor you were on. When I showed up I had my arms full of bags, I am 36 weeks pregnant and I am in no way helpless. But no one at the front desk offered a cart or any kind of help. I dropped my bag on the floor and a maintenance man stopped what he was doing to run and open the door for me. Not his job at all, but he showed more compassion and customer service than the people at the front desk. Laundry service closed for maintenance. Right next to a major highway, very loud traffic at all hours.

Centrally located in Anchorage. Easy to find. It wasn't a life changing hotel experience, but definitely met our needs. We were able to get a good night of rest. We wished that there would have been a continental breakfast but we were able to find a fast-food breakfast spot close to the hotel.

Hight standard as a whole chain with comfy beds and nice desk personnel. Quite good location esp for motorised tourists on a way to Seward/Kenai Fjords. If you are In hurry choose another restaurant for breakfast. Although good and tasty. I found the Best Western Golden Lion to be a great fit for my needs during my recent trip to Alaska. Since I was only staying in Anchorage for 1 night, I just needed a clean room in a convenient location. This property met both requirements and was reasonably priced. Employees were friendly, the room was spacious, and the beds were comfortable. Be aware that the property is undergoing some renovations right now. The property is definitely a little older, so I definitely think these renovations will be a great addition. Just be prepared to see some work being done if you are planning on staying here soon. Also note that the hotel is located quite close to the highway. It doesn't bother me much, but if noise does bother you, that might be worth considering. Lastly, this property does not provide complimentary breakfast. Breakfast is available for purchase at the on-site restaurant.

"Expensive, hairy experience"

The sheets were clean, but the bedspread was hairy. The carpet needed a thorough vacuum all the way around. The tub looked clean, but there was a hairy mess behind the bathroom door next to the tub, kinda a giant fur ball. It was in late April and we had to run the AC unit to cool down the room, because it was way too noisy to leave open the room window. We dined in their restaurant, and it was good enough--got to watch a moose browsing a little ways from the hotel. There was, however, no complementary breakfast even with paying $124 + tax for one night.

A decent hotel at a decent price, but it is in an ideal location. the entire city is conveniently accessible, airport downtown, Diamond, or Muldoon are all a quick drive from here. Anchorage can be a confusing city to navigate, but this hotel is located right on or near most of the major cross town roads.

We spent one night last week at this property before flying out the next morning. It has easy enough access to the airport. Beds were comfortable and room was pretty clean. It is off a main highway, so was a little noisy for a while... but was quiet enough to sleep later on. We had a 2 queen room with a microwave and frig. The bathroom was a little small, but okay. The hotel is non-smoking, but when we were walking to our room on the 3rd floor, there were 2 cigarette butts in the hallway in different places and a crumpled up cigarette package, with some other trash that people had left outside their rooms. There was a little noise form the other rooms, but not too bad. Was a decent enough price especially since most hotels in Anchorage cost quite a bit. Okay for a night or two.

Some staff are not so Friendly or Helpful, but the others make up for it. Overall, it was a nice stay. Resturant is convieniant and the food was not bad. The in room ammenities were a help, but had to fight with the dispensers a bit. Id stay here again.

We stayed four nights and our room was very quiet except for the last night. We were on the first floor and the people above us were making noise and dropping things on the floor so we couldn't sleep. The front desk was very helpful in printing directions for us when we needed help.

i never worry about stuffs during i staying in thsi hotel counter clerk very helpful and also maid taht clean up the room, the best of all. teh hotel is almost center of all locations teh price not too expensive and sure price that anyone can afford to compare for any other hotels. bussiness , family , friends or coupls is good for all. na dhave hair dresser on the buttom floor that is really help. and secend floor have restaurant for serve customer that do not have transportation or do not want to get out in their bad day, food is good.

On a recent trip to Anchorage, we stayed at the Best Western Golden Lion. We chose it specifically for its location, but value was equally important. Reviews were good, and it was a quick trip. Let me say---we would absolutely stay there again. Our room was large, clean, and bed very comfortable. The location was incredible! In 10-15 minutes or less we were anywhere we needed to be! An added bonus was a full service restaurant, and bar on site. Breakfast was fantastic!

I found the staff friendly and the room clean. I work at a motel here in Alaska and I was very happy and comfortable here. This Hotel was very close to the hospital and I was here visiting my 90 yr old mother as she had surgery for a broken hip. The elevator was a bit scary as it felt like an Alaskan earthquake as you were being taken to whatever floor.. But other than that I was very pleased with my stay. I stayed here once years ago and remember it being pleasant. Thank you all.

This Best Western was chosen due to how close it was to a class I was taking. The room was very comfortable and super clean. I like that! I tend to like Best Western and have joined their rewards membership. I do recommend this hotel for others that need to stay in Mid-town Anchorage.

I love staying at this hotel when I go back home to Alaska! The staff has always been over the top nice and knowledgeable about the area. My room has always been clean, fresh and up to date. The location is perfect, Im close to all corners of Anchorage and just a short drive to downtown for some shopping!!! I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fabulous stay while are you in Anchorage!!

This was a clean and modern property! The staff was soo friendly and helped me anytime I needed anything! I was very pleased that the location was so handy to my travels in Anchorage. The restaurant has really good food! That doesn't always happen at a hotel restaurant! I even had dance lessons up at the bar!! OMG what fun it was to watch then participate in the dance lessons. I stated a few days and there was a different group and lesson up at the bar nightly.. too fun!

very nice room, the front desk was very friendly. the location is very convenient to everything. there is a bar on the 2nd floor. plenty of parking, did not have any trouble finding a space, even when coming in late.

Staff is usually extremely friendly and helpful. Great location for me. Always clean and smells nicely. I stay at this hotel every time I travel to Anchorage. Unless of course there are no rooms available.

if you don't mind a few broken items in the bathroom....the beds & pillows are VERY VERY comfortable...the restaurant is supposedly not "affiliated" w/ this hotel, waitress made us wait a very long time to pay the bill, she cleared our table & we got up to pay she went to have a cigarette.....so we had to wait till she got back.....

I picked this hotel since I am a rewards member. Considered hotels closer to airport since I had an early morning flight. Friendly front desk, modern furnishings in room. Lots of pillows, quiet during the night. Would stay here again.

I stay in this hotel every time I have to go to Anchorage for doctor appointments. They're filled with a very caring staff, who always go out of their way to help me. I do not look disabled to the "normal" person (I have MS and am ambulatory) but their guys always push the loadcart and help us get our stuff in. They've never fussed once about it. (even when it was colder than a reindeer butt outside) They're also super good with my mom's service dog (My mom is my escort as I can't drive anymore) never giving her any guff, and always making sure we're settled well. There are 3 rooms downstairs with no stair access (if heat is your problem like it is one of mine) there a more with a small staircase access (like 3 steps?) The showers are well situated in those rooms with bars to hang onto. Also the Wheelchair bathroom is as bag as you could ever hope for with a roll-in shower. The food from the in house restaurant is AMAZING (I recommend the chowder and the molten cake omg.. if the molten cake isn't available as for a brownie sundae with the molten cake topper :D) The fried chicken is delish, and the fries are great (kinda spicy to my mom though so if you have spice issues no fries)

I chose it because of Best Western membership, breakfast, etc. My review was in the comments earlier. In short, Lost reservation (but Corp. had it), requested amenities not in room, room set up for 2 not 3, black hairs over sheets, filthy carpeting around furniture & behind, afternoon-evening staff indifferent to our needs, even blamed the manager at times, restaurant/bar had private party so only in-room meals (with service fees & tips!) for the night - didn't do... No breakfast offered downstairs at this hotel. No express checkout offered. Definitely no helping a 69 year old man who needed help, getting all the luggage on a cart upstairs, with many male, young staff there to make that happen!

You feel like you're at home!! From the time I arrived I was treated like I was a King. Everyone from the GM to Housekeeping smiled and was so nice, I loved it! I can't wait till my next stay, if you want to stay at a nice hotel with friendly people stay at the Golden Lion, Best Western.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. However, the room was very dark with little art on the walls, making for a dreary living space. The restaurant was a little sketchy, too, but not horrible -- bad music -- on par with a Denny's.

Nice clean room friendly staff, decent restaurant (no free breakfast though), Did not use business center, but in room internet (WiFi) had decent speed and the desk was big enough for a laptop and several portfolios to spread out on..

"Needs to be updated but great surprisingly quiet location"

We've stayed at this hotel before not much has changed. I reserved a handicap room, did not get that but this time it was ok. One of the beds kept coming off the frame but was quickly dealt with. The bath tub clogged up but again was quickly dealt with. Most of the staff is super helpful and nice. Comfortable beds and pillows. Pretty clean rooms.

Stayed at the Golden Lion Best Western as a base to see as much around as possible. 20 minutes from Flattop - great place to see the Aurora, 10 minutes from downtown for food and souvenirs. Recommend traveling towards Portage Lake for hiking along the way. Great staff at the Best Western, helpful tips on where to eat.

Our stay at Best WesternGolden Lion in Anchorage was wonderful. The staff was extememly accomodating to our individual needs. When we came in, they had us scheduled for a higher floor, but bec of our needs, we requested a first floor, and they were very helpful in working that out. Convenient location if flying or driving. Friendly staff and large clean rooms. Room was very comfortable with all the standard amenities. Bathroom was roomy with a good shower/tub. The bed was comfortable and room was quiet. Would stay here again.

Very short visit, Wife had procedure 6:30AM at Anchorage Surgery Center. Not much time to sleep or evaluate facility. Employees are polite and efficient. Facility is clean, quiet and comfortable. Check out was fast and efficient.
