"A wonderful stay in the heart of Amsterdam"
Megan M, 13 Mars 2024

We were so impressed by this hotel. It's close to everything — walking distance to a lot of the sights we wanted to see, and literally around maybe two corners from Dam Square. There are many restaurants and stores steps away (including a bakery directly across from the entrance, and a Stroopwaffel bakery before you hit the next intersection), but the hotel itself is in kind of an alley, so it makes it feel tucked away and makes it less noisy than being on a main street. There are tram stops about a 2-minute walk away, and Centraal Station is about a 10-minute walk away. The room and bathroom were nice sizes, and our room looked out on a narrow alleyway. But the hotel impressed me for two reasons, neither of which I've ever encountered at a hotel before and which were both extremely appreciated: First, they have a tap in the lobby with still and sparkling waters, and they have glass decanters you can fill to take to your room, or you can fill your reusable water bottle (or the cute little metal one they gave us!) there. We used this daily, it was fantastic. Second, we usually choose not to have housekeeping every day when we stay in a hotel, so we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. When we came back from our first day of exploring, there was a laundry bag hanging on our door with fresh towels and a roll of toilet paper. I wish every hotel did this! I can't believe this was the first time we've seen this done, but I hope it becomes policy at more hotels. There's also a free breakfast, which was great! No hot items (there is a toaster), but there are meats and cheeses, breads, some veggies and fruits, cereals, yogurts, pastries, coffees and juices. The only minor complaint we had about the hotel was that the mattresses were softer than we like, but that is a small thing and we wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

"Really bad experience"
Da1Ra1, 06 Février 2024

I called the hotel for information on the 06/02 at 1200, and the staff was very rude to me. I was polite asking to book rooms (in few months ahead) and they started laughing at me because it was more than 10 rooms, they were available to provide me a rate, but they didn't want because probably it is a hard task. She gave me the option to book online everything individually. Not very professional behavior to work in customer service. But very good to know that it will be the last hotel in Amsterdam that I will offer to my clients.

"5/5 Fantastic hotel!"
Lily W, 25 Décembre 2023

Brilliantly central location and a great hotel. Extremely nearby to local amenities including multiple restaurants and shopping options. Our flight was cancelled after we had checked out so we booked another night here. Staff were absolutely fantastic, gave us back the same room and we were also able to do late check out the following day. Hotel is extremely clean, bed is very comfortable and the bathroom very spacious and shower is great. Breakfast is also very tasty and a very good food selection. Cannot fault this hotel in anyway, thank you for having us!

"Great location and price"
Gigi135, 09 Novembre 2023

Just steps from 2 tram lines and Dam Square. Many restaurants nearby. Good breakfast (no hot foods) with range of coffees and juices plus delicious hot chocolate. Glass bottles in lobby could be filled with sparkling or still water and taken to our room. Loaner umbrellas were so helpful for rainy days. Friendly, helpful receptionists.

"Perfect location"
Lonestarbc, 30 Octobre 2023

Perfectly located right in the middle of the city and walking distance from everything. Watch out, it in a pedestrian area so we parked in a multi-storey 200m away. Staff are very friendly especially Giselle Driest, sincerely friendly and helpful. Corridors need repainting with a brighter colour, but rooms are OK. Breakfast is basic but OK based on the price. Main attraction though is how you can easily walk everywhere.

"Worth a stay here!"
karenpammy2016, 15 Octobre 2023

The location of this Best Western Dam Square is very conveniently located from the Central Station-- about a 10-15 min. walk but be prepared for a crowd if you are arriving mid-day on. You just need to walk to Dam Square and make a right, then walk until the end of the next street and turn right- Gravenstraat is on your right. You will need your room key to enter the elevator to your room for security reasons which is good. The wifi connections are very strong and effectively working. Room service was efficient and good but the only thing is that you need to be extra careful to take a step up or down while coming and leaving the bathroom. The complimentary breakfast selections were great as there were many choices of breads, fruits, and breakfast items to select from. The location from most of the popular sights in Amsterdam were all walkable from the Best Western Dam Square- an absolute nice place to stay where you are centrally located. Well worth the stay here.

"Charming & Great Location"
trishtogo, 28 Septembre 2023

We loved our stay in the charming BW Dam Square Inn for 3 nights to be centrally located for touring this beautiful city. We like authentic European hotels with character and this fit the bill. Despite the age of this historic former distillery building, the rooms are rather modern with great A/C, as it was an early September heat wave when we visited. The room was small (don't expect American standards) but totally comfortable for our stay. The bed was comfortable and the modern bathroom had a great shower. Our room had one window that faced a small inner utility courtyard, but did give natural light. I only wish we had a luggage stand, as we had to place our suitcase on the floor. The front desk staff were all very nice and professional. They even ordered a taxi for us upon check out. There is one small elevator that did fit the two of us and our large luggage. The included continental breakfast was very good and plentiful in a lovely room. Great to start off our days touring. I loved the location on a small Straat with a cafe, restaurants, and right adjacent to the Old Church and nearby Dam Square. Due to the narrow size of this street, taxis need to pick up/drop off about 1/2 block away, which was not a problem for us, but could be for people with mobility issues. We walked to all the tourist sights from this central location. Definitely visit De Drie Fleschjes Bar next door for an authentic Dutch Gin Jenever experience.

"Great location, good value"
ABurnes, 14 Septembre 2023

As Best Western reward members, We frequently look to Best Western when traveling in Europe & this one in Amsterdam did not disappoint. Location was excellent for getting around to see the sights, especially easy walk to Anne Frank Museum. Shopping, Dining and pubs were all close. Breakfast was good, liked the espresso machine and good A/C. Staff was very pleasant & helpful.

"A nice property near to Amsterdam Central!"
me_harsh8, 09 Août 2023

Overall: A standard property in the heart of city with a great location, just 100 m walk from the nearest tram station. If you are looking to stay in a “budget” property, this is the place to stay in. Location: The location of this property is really great, close to Amsterdam Central and the tram station. Being in the central location, you can stay out late without worrying about the logistics of returning to the hotel. Room & Bathroom: We booked a double room. Room was quite small but clean. They cleaned the room on daily basis. Bathroom was also quite minimalistic. Amenities: The water tap and coffee at the reception are a great plus for those who are skeptical of drinking tap water. Brewed hot coffee is also available which was good to have. Breakfast: Standard continental breakfast which sufficed to start the day. Staff: Staff is friendly and is supportive to answer any queries we had during the stay.

"Silver wedding anniversary"
Scaryspice1, 18 Juillet 2023

My husband and I stayed here for four nights to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a better hotel all the staff were amazing and decorated our room with balloons heart shaped red ones and gave us an upgrade I would really like to thank them all simply fantastic ♥️

"Great location."
Jennifer R, 07 Juillet 2023

Cute boutique type hotel. It's in the heart of the city so you are going to have city noise. The breakfast is a huge plus. the location is fantastic. It is a bit of a walk to the train station, but do able. The hotel was small but clean. Lots of food in the area.

"Good location"
Sue M, 06 Juillet 2023

Good, peaceful, location, close to Dam Square and about 10 to 15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central train station. Average room, but clean and had all we needed. The interior walls of the hotel could do with a paint, as it looks tired, but otherwise OK. The staff were very friendly and helpful and no problems checking in and out. Breakfast very dull. Several types of bread, croissants, cold meat and cold boiled eggs, yoghurts and juice, tea and coffee - that's about it. Nothing hot (except there is a toaster!). Frankly, for 250 Euros for a double room per night, I think they could lay on a bit of hot food. I had an issue with their pillows - far too big, made my neck ache and I did ask if they had smaller pillows, but apparently not. Other than that, all good.

"Very central hotel close to Palace Square"
Beryl J, 30 Juin 2023

This hotel is very central. We found the train from the airport and walking to the hotel very easy. We didn't use any public transport during our stay. You see so much more when walking . We had a room that was newly decorated super king size bed .There coffee and tea in the room but a ceramic cup instead of a paper cup would have been better. Breakfast was good with plenty of coffee.

"Great location"
Michael D, 19 Juin 2023

The hotel is in a great, central location, walkable to anything. The room was standard, however the shower was so small that it was almost uncomfortable, with barely enough room to move around. The staff (primarily Hossain) was super helpful and friendly and the water available in the lobby was a nice touch.

"Amsterdam break"
Geoff W, 09 Février 2023

Great hotel within an easy walk from central station. Very helpful staff couldn't do enough. Continental breakfast was very good and plentiful. Great Central location within easy reach of many of the attractions, we were there for my wife's 60th and to our amazement we were upgraded to the Bootz suite which was amazing. Thank you for that, it made our stay special. Great city will be returning.

"Love the location! "
dorsph, 09 Janvier 2023

Extremely well-located to enable you to explore Amsterdam. Dam Square and tram spots reachable within 3 min walk. Even Anne Frank House can be reached within 15 minutes walk. I literally popped in and out of the hotel a few times each day to drop off stuff and get a rest because it was so convenient! Only grouse is that the shower area is too small and confined. There's still space in the bathroom to expand this area.

"Lovely hotel in a great location "
marcit48, 28 Novembre 2022

Had a great stay in the bootz suite, beautiful room very spacious with everything we needed, we were disappointed not to be staying longer! Good breakfast, cereal, fruit,, meat cheese, pastries and toast. Very friendly welcome from staff. Great location, would definitely stay again and recommend

"Good place to stay with excellent included breakfast"
Trek02609986402, 16 Novembre 2022

Nice room in the center of town. Excellent breakfast was included! Reasonable price. Hotel is in an older building that was once a distillery. Not at all like an American hotel. The room was comfortable. First floor was requested and provided to avoid stairs. Luggage storage was available. Short walk to Dam Square.

"In the center of Amsterdam"
Marlene M, 07 Novembre 2022

Many of our friends and family recommended several of the large hotels in Amsterdam. We rejected them all as too expensive or not centrally located. This is the hotel we choose. The price was in our budget, it was small and located just steps from Dam Square. We were here for 4 nights and enjoyed every night. When we checked in really early the desk clerk said there was no problem with an early check-in, but he said the room was small, as he smiled at us. When we went to the room, we found he had upgraded us to a suite. This hotel has an elevator, and free breakfast and a small bar. The service was great, and we enjoyed our stay. We wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you enjoy small historic hotels in friendly neighborhood.

"great location!"
mbthornton, 30 Octobre 2022

This is an historic building with some modern touches. I was unexpectedly upgraded to the 'Bootz' suite for two nights. Very walkable location in a walkable city. Numerous cafes nearby. Good value for money.

"Great Location"
Kathi P, 29 Octobre 2022

We stayed one night prior to a river cruise and had no issues. Chose this hotel for its convenient location and continental breakfast. Nothing fancy but fine for what we needed. Were able to walk from Central Station with luggage. Corner room was quiet and clean with a large bathroom. Hallways were a bit dreary and area by elevator had a weird smell. Evening desk clerk was friendly and recommended restaurant next door for dinner which we enjoyed. Nice to be provided a quick breakfast before leaving Would stay again.

"Amazing newly refurbished hotel. Rooms were 5*."
CATOKI, 06 Octobre 2022

Booked in here for 2 nights. Booked it a couple of months ago and hadn't looked at the website again prior to our stay. What a lovely surprise when we got there to find the rooms had been newly refurbished and are stunning. Gorgeous decor, fabulous comfy beds with memory foam mattresses. En suite bathroom very high spec with massive shower. All staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Good continental breakfast. Fantastic central location

"Fantastic location"
neilcongleton, 21 Septembre 2022

Fantastic location for dam and the shops Rooms clean not bad size shower very small. Bedding did have a couple dirty marks Breakfast is cold meat and cheese + fresh breads. 2 ladies behind front desk very helpful The man behind front desk rude and helpful

"Don't Book!"
Wanderer575453, 14 Septembre 2022

I arrived at 11:30pm on Saturday night to find multiple stains on the sheets and a hair on the pillow. I called down to the front desk to ask for a new room and they were completely booked for the night. I asked to speak to the manager and their was no manager on duty until Monday morning. The front desk worker came up with new sheets that were stained as well and I asked to have my room cleaned. He said he was the only one working and couldn't clean the room. As he was undoing the bed, he found another piece of hair under the pillow and the second set of sheets had stains on them too. I was completely grossed out and ended up booking another hotel for my stay and wouldn't recommend staying here. At midnight, we walked another 0.5 mile to the next hotel since transportation wasn't available at the hotel due to construction. The manager never called me and I followed up on Monday morning in person. Francine is the manager and owner of this hotel and I told her my situation and what happened. She said I promise you the sheets were cleaned and that sometimes stains happen. I told her it was completely unacceptable and she said it just wasn't up to your standards. I said there was no checking of the room prior to a customer's stay and asked for her to pay for the first night of my stay at the new hotel since all of this happened around midnight after a long day of travel. She said she couldn't do anything about it and had already refunded me for my stay.

"Very basic hotel, thin walls, poor breakfast"
Amersham2013, 11 Juillet 2022

Not a great hotel, thin walls, breakfast very very basic . Aircon barely worked . Rooms were clean. Only bonus very central very close to all tram stops to tourist attractions. Not one of the better Best Westerns.

"Excellent Location..!"
Jmal7211, 01 Mai 2022

This is a really good hotel with great central location a short walk from Central Station. Its not cheap but includes a good breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Recommended..!

"Unbeatable location...."
sunnydaygirl2014, 29 Novembre 2021

The location of this hotel is second to none, down a quiet street but a minute away from Dam Square and the shopping street. Bars and restaurants literally next door. Super friendly staff, good breakfast and newly refurbished room, all adds up to a great stay.

"Abismal ! Great location STAFF ARE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL"
Nicolle T, 06 Octobre 2021

Terrible attitude of the staff very unhelpful and demeaning. We arrived to Amsterdam yesterday evening around 6pm both me and my partner had taken a PCR test on the day of travelling. We showed our PCR to the hotel whom said it was fine there was no mention of a QR code being needed for breakfast. This morning we have arrived at the breakfast hall to have a cold pastry breakfast and we was rudely approached by the kitchen Porter asking for a QR code or we must return to eat at my room. The rules in Amsterdam are that everyone must have a pcr test every 24 hours on their CoronaCheck application. As tourist we have not yet been in the country for 24 hours and have a valid pcr with us which can suffice until we take a test this afternoon. I then went on to make a complaint to the reception staff whom was just even more rude and disrespectful advising me that the breakfast is free in the room rate. I have paid 111€ for one night and CHOSE THE OPTION OF ADDING BREAKFAST so nothing is free especially when payment is required at arrival. The staff did not once apologise for their mistake or their attitude toward paying customers. There is a very blaze attitude and no care towards their clients. I am very disappointed with this hotel in the end especially as when we arrive the staff we was greeted by were extremely nice and friendly. I will be taking my complaint further and ensuring none of my family friends or business associates use this company or hotel again.

"Three nights in Amsterdam, in a very good hotel"
ANGELO V, 23 Octobre 2020

Best Western Dam Square Inn is located in a small and quiet street in the very city center, one minute walk from Dam Square. The hotel building dates from the 17th century and it originally hosted a distillery. I had a very good room, that was big for Amsterdam standards. The bed was very comfortable, and there was no noise from outside, also due to the fact that my widows were on a small private street. Also the bathroom was very good. There was no buffet breakfat when I visited, due to anti-covid measures, but they povided a standard platter with cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumbers, egg, bread, toast, croissant, jam, butter, orange juice and coffee/tea/chocolate. So, breakfast was still quite enjoyable. Staff were helpful and friendly.

"Great for solo travel"
Rose123xx, 01 Septembre 2020

Highly recommend the Best Western Dam Square Inn for solo travellers. Unlike most European hotel single bedrooms I got a lovely big sized bed, which I was pleased with! The friendly lady on reception also let me check in 3 hours early. The location is central and a few minutes from Dam Square. My room was at the back of the hotel which is why it was pretty quiet. I will definitely return ☺️

"Good location"
Karkarew, 27 Juillet 2020

Hotel is located literally 2 minutes by wall from Dam Square, which is very convenient. Staff is really helpful and nice. Unfortunately due to covid, there is no buffet breakfast(and what is served is teally basic, boring and not tasty) and the rooms are not cleaned regularly - i guess it should be cleaned more nowadays not less...)

"Good hotel "
saimahmad, 27 Juin 2020

Good neat clean tidy in the heart of Amsterdam. Good location Shopping stretch is just nearby, and all hotspots are nearby. Love to stay again in the same Limited good breakfast. Staff was very friendly. .

"Excellent location and services"
Thon J, 05 Février 2020

The hotel location is superb, only a few steps from Dam Square, shopping streets and restaurants. The services are unbeatable and all the staffs are very friendly. Their hospitallity makes me feeling like staying in my own home. The breakfast is excellence because there are much more diversity.

"Quiet hotel in the Heart of Amsterdam"
Tschmidt690, 28 Janvier 2020

This hotel is very clean and quiet. We were on the second floor overlooking the main entrance which is surrounded by bars/restaurants. It was suprisingly quiet. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. The staff is very helpful and will store your bags for you before your room is ready or after you check out before you depart. The breakfast is great. Right in the heart of the Dam square and in the heart of Amsterdam.

"Loved this hotel!"
87annaliset, 24 Janvier 2020

Booked this hotel for a 2 night break as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday, and brought along our daughter and his elder daughter. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a perfect location, near to Dam Square and train station. Both rooms were lovely and clean and newly decorated. Would definately come back here.

"I really loved this hotel"
edsontahtouh, 24 Janvier 2020

I stayed for 3 nights at the Best Western Dam Square Inn and I can say that it was a great surprise. It is just a 10 minute walk from the central station, great location next to Dam Square and the main shops. The service from the staff is impeccable, I was helped several times and always all attentive and helpful. The room is simple, good size for those traveling alone, the bed is comfortable. A highlight for the breakfast served, many options of fruits, yogurts, cheeses, breads, coffee machine and cappucino, perfect. Below are recent photos of the Hotel's facade that no longer has the panel that shows on google street, so I ended up taking a while to find the same one on my arrival.

"Best for us"
SIRMICKEY1, 15 Janvier 2020

Been awhile since our last visit to Amsterdam. This was my friends pick of hotels, mainly as we wanted to be near dam square this time round. Perfect place, close to pubs restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel room was I wouldn't say modern as some I've stayed, but it was large enough, clean. Quiet on a night. Bed comfortable. The breakfast was nice enough, adequate for filling us till later on in the day. Overall a good hotel. Thank you

"Good location"
the_firewall, 14 Janvier 2020

The hotel is located good nearby butiks and party district. And for exploring of museum and stuff like that. But the parking is bad and no information about it. The rooms are nice and orderd, but the breakfast you could have expected a bit more from, easy and nothing ells.

"One Nighter"
Cleopatra030, 13 Janvier 2020

We had an overnight stop in Amsterdam on our return journey, and as I was not prepared to sleep in the airport, our travel agent booked us into this hotel. We literally only slept there, but the rooms although outdated and small was perfect for our needs. The hotel reception area is very pleasant and most welcoming. The staff on duty were very efficiant and friendly. The bed was super soft and I must admit I did not like the coffee/tea/kettle etc situated in the bathroom. We had to leave before breakfast was served, so I can not comment on it.

"The Best !!!!"
babush2601, 06 Janvier 2020

We booked this hotel for 2 nights during Xmas. When we Reached this hotel to our surprise we got upgraded to Boots Suite which was the best Xmas gift we had received. The receptionist was always smiling and ready to help anytime of the day. The Hotel is ideally located in shopping street near Dam Square and has some of the loveliest cafes and restaurants & Bars. Madam Tussaud, Ripley's Belive it or not, Dam Square & Red light District is at a walking distance. Breakfast spread is pretty good. 24hours coffee and tea maker is available opposite the reception counter.Room Service was up to the mark. Highly Recommended. Cheers to the Team !!!!

"Great location"
FluffyClouds123, 17 Décembre 2019

Fab hotel in the best location!! If you want to be central to dam square and red light this is the hotel for you! Brilliant breakfast- croissants, meats, cheese, eggs. Room a little dated and slightly tired but I am aware the hotel is having a refurb and the examples of the new rooms in the lobby look great. One member of our group booked a room late one night and was given a new room in which they said was lovely. It would have been nice to be allocated a new room for our stay as they were clearly available. Maybe on booking ask if you can have a refurbed room! Reception staff welcoming and friendly, always said hello in the mornings and late at night when we returned, allowed us to drop our bags off on checkout day. Rooms attended daily and beds made, clean towels provided daily. Rooms have towels, toiletries and a hair dryer, free WiFi very good and easily accessible.

"Short breaks"
keith b, 13 Décembre 2019

Lovely small hotel clean and helpful staff. Lots to see cheaper tickets for attraction from ticket shops Dam Square can be busy, lots if shops , cafes and restaurants vary in price. Beware of cyclists as they have right of way and have own cycle paths close to tram tracks.

"2nd stay, still great"
Shady S, 24 Novembre 2019

2nd stay at this hotel & will not be last. Hotel Location is great, near the Dam Square where you can find many bars, restaurants & a lot of shops, you have C&A, Primark,, Cheese Factories, Souvenir Shops & Many more...... Rooms are large enough, clean, breakfast offers many varieties, cold cuts, cheese, butter, Jam, Corn flakes, Fruits, Juices, bread, toast, Coffee & tea & Milk...... No traffic in front of hotel, only until 11 am, after that street closed for cars, so if you need a taxi after 11 am you have to walk about 100 meters to main street for taxi. I Really enjoyed my stay & will stay again next time. All Staff was incredible, Mrs Zsoka, Mr Hussein, Ms Giselle & Ms Danielle, all were very helpful, thank you.

"Friendly hotel"
polly095, 15 Novembre 2019

Stayed here for 3 nights. On arrival we were soaked from our walk from the train station and the first thing the friendly receptionist did was offer us a coffee. This hotel couldn't be better placed for all the main sights and lots of lovely bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. Rooms fairly small but very clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely, as far as continental goes and served until 10.30 so no need to rush. They provide you with maps and umbrellas if needed and coffee is on the go all day in reception. We will definitely be returning.

"Romantic Anniversary getaway!"
236philipg, 09 Novembre 2019

The hotel was everything we needed for our long weekend in Amsterdam. Although we had one of the older decor rooms, (when we stayed was in the middle of referb!!) the room was well laid out, and really comfy bed too. The view of the “The New Church” was stunning. Delightful little cake shop and patisserie directly opposite. And the little pub next door is excellent!

"Location location location"
Airmilesfreak, 06 Novembre 2019

Excellent hotel in a superb location....room OK with fantastic shower....breakfast typical continental with unlimited coffee and juice...we would def. stay here again...had a room at the back ..very quiet...coffee all day in the lobby...staff very friendly...not cheap but good and the room had a safe..

"Great Location near Train Station"
Al154, 04 Novembre 2019

Needed a hotel near the central train station and close to river ship docking locations for a cruise in mid October. Dam Square Inn met this requirement. It is about a 10 minute walk from the station, even with luggage, and just a short taxi ride to the river cruise ships. There are plenty of restaurants in the area for dining. The hotel itself is in an older building that has been tastefully converted. Our twin room on the second floor was very large, quite clean, and came equipped with a nice sized flat screen TV and good wifi reception. We included a reasonably priced continental breakfast in the room price and had many choices from which to choose. The hotel staff were very accommodating and spoke excellent English. For the price this is a good, centrally located hotel in Amsterdam.

"Great Location"
markeverington, 02 Novembre 2019

Great location just off Dam Square. Receptionists are very friendly and helpful. Recently refurbished rooms are well designed and spacious especially for a hotel in the middle of a city. Good continental breakfast. Only downside was the noise from the heavy doors banging on the corridor

"Awesome location, value is OK"
Laura C, 23 Octobre 2019

This is a great location for a hotel in Amsterdam, a block or so away from the center, but in a small alley. There are restaurants and bar right outside, so there was still some noise in the evenings. The worst part was the uncomfortable bed, which was soft and with a pronounced indentation in the middle, which made my husband and I roll into the middle regardless of what we wanted to do. The breakfast is good and was included.

"Amsterdam"
vicki039, 20 Octobre 2019

We stayed at the Dam Square hotel for 3 nights in Oct. and really enjoyed it. The location is wonderful as it is close to Dam square but also very quiet. The staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast was good. The room was very clean. You can walk from the train station to the hotel in about 10 minutes.

"Great Location"
EZWash, 14 Octobre 2019

Couldn't believe how in the middle of everything this hotel was situated. Three of our four dinners were at good restaurants within 1000 feet of the front door. The hotel is tucked away on alley that connected a main thoroughfare with the amazing shopping street. Central station was a ten minute walk and public transportation was just at the end the street. The hotel itself is undergoing renovation. Rooms were reasonably sized, with a good sized bathroom. Beds were on the soft side, but still comfortable. Plenty of electrical outlets, as well. Natural light was tough to come by as we were on the first floor (second to Americans) and the windows opened onto a shaft from the fourth floor. Every inch is used so each room had a different arrangement, Breakfast was decent with meats, cheeses, good breads, cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, and beverages. We were happy with the choice. Desk staff ranged from great to indifferent. If we were to come back to Amsterdam we'd consider staying here again.

"Wonderful location"
Judy G, 08 Octobre 2019

Went to Amsterdam not knowing anything about where to stay and chose the Best Western because of price and location. It did not disappoint in that the location was perfect for us. Walkable to everything and in the Central Amsterdam area (Dam Square). The hotel is currently doing some updating renovations which will make it much nicer. The breakfast included was good. The service was great. Would definitely stay here again. Great value.

"Great Hotel - Close to everything in City Center"
Dan K, 04 Octobre 2019

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The staff was very nice and helpful. Being American and not speaking much Dutch, they were so nice and didn't mind helping in any way. The hotel was close to everything in City Center. Breakfast was wonderful. Homemade bread!

Me and my wife stayed here for one night, the location is excellent in Dam Square and is only a 10 minute walk from the central railway station. The reception greeting was friendly and efficient and the room, whilst fairly basic, was clean and function. The bed was comfortable and sturdy for activity. I imagine people could complain about the noise as it is in a busy area but we into Amsterdam for a night out so it was perfect for us and we were not disturbed by any noise. I'd stay there again and would recommend to anyone wanting a central location on a budget.

hop4pen, 27 Septembre 2019

Stayed 2 nights here, very close to central train station. Took us 10 mins to walk to hotel from station. Staff super helpful. Gave us suggestions for places to eat, and close by attractions. Rooms clean, breakfast options very good. Is short walk through alley to get to actual Dam Square. It is a bit more pricey than I would normally pay, but for the convenience, was worth it.

"Best Place to stay in amsterdam!!!"
Wanda D, 22 Septembre 2019

The hotel staff is great!!!! Our whole family group of 10 stayed here in July before our cruise on Amamora!! Walk out the door you are in the center of Amsterdam!! Nice restaurants, bars (Three Little Bottles next door don't miss this place) Breakfast staff was very good always helpful! We had the remodel rooms nice and clean A/C was wonderful!!! The staff arranged for vans to take us to the riverboat !! We all decided this will be the hotel we will always use when visiting Amsterdam!!!!

"Stay before Baltic cruise"
avidtravellerontario, 12 Septembre 2019

Lovely hotel just needed an overnight before our cruise. Very locally situated friendly staff great room and the breakfast was very good. Also used the attached bar/lounge was very good. Would definitely recommend this hotel she staying in Amsterdam. Would have used it after our cruise as we stayed for another 4 days but there was no availability.

"Nice, clean hotel"
tfe14022019, 19 Août 2019

This hotel was clean and well maintained. While it has the name Dam Square Inn, it is actually not On the square but, instead, on a different small lane away from the square. The breakfast was good, but do not expect hot food. I found the hotel personnel friendly, but they were often not accessible. It may be that there were simply not enough employees.

"Great location "
Bartbark, 08 Août 2019

This was a nice hotel with super friendly, helpful staff. The room was tiny, of course, because..Amsterdam. But location couldn't have been better. Right in front of the hotel was a fab bakery/lunch joint. Breakfast was included. Definitely recommend.

"Best location in Amsterdam center"
georger0830, 08 Août 2019

Excellent front desk service, speedy check in/out. Great location close to central station walking distance close to trains, canals and museums. However, the rooms could have been cleaner. Needs updated interior. Best Western is planning in late fall, October 2019 renovations underway

"BEST possible location"
Cathie L, 07 Août 2019

Clean rooms-check Great staff-check Good breakfast-check QUIET-check But the most wonderful part of this hotel.... the LOCATION! Tucked behind the Oude Kerk-Old Church, on an absolute gem of a street, you are in the heart of Amsterdam. WALK anywhere from here. This is a treasure of a hotel in the most charming area of Amsterdam.

"Very comfortable and convenient hotel"
aallen2, 26 Juillet 2019

I stayed for 4 nights in July 19 and found the staff very helpful and friendly. Very good sized standard room with good sized bathroom. Very convenient to Dam Square and most of the major attractions. In a quiet pedestrian area so no noise from outside. Would definitely use it again.

"LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!! "
dlbemoll, 10 Juillet 2019

This hotel has the perfect location. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Amsterdam Centraal Train Station. It is located right off of Dam Square on a pedestrian only street. The hotel use to be a distillery, the main doors are still from that era. The staff is very accommodating and go out of their way to make your visit comfortable. We had a room for three located on the third floor. It had been recently remodeled and was very large, compared to other European hotels that we have stayed at in the past. The bathroom was large and the shower was the best! The room included a breakfast each morning. The breakfast was cold cuts, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola and other cereals. Also, a pot of coffee or tea is brought to your table.

"Great location"
Swampytravels2019, 06 Juillet 2019

This small hotel is centrally located and not too far from the station. The room and bathroom were clean. However, our TV didn't work and requests to staff to look at it were not followed up on, instead we were asked when we were checking out. There was no fridge in the room and a musty/mouldy smell in the foyer hallway. The buffet breakfast was very limited. We stayed here because the Best Western at Svendborg, Denmark was amazing. Surely the name is only a coincidence as they are worlds apart.

"Great Location"
Daydream46727932618, 27 Juin 2019

Older hotel just behind Dam Square. The manager, Danialle, is wonderful. Breakfast buffet beats most Best Western hotels in USA. Convenient to Central Station, and downtown. Rooms have been updated. Free WiFi.

"Great location "
martin_hyland, 17 Juin 2019

As has been said before the hotel has a great location really central to everything. The hotel itself is good and the rooms are clean and functional. Only thing missing in my view was a fridge in the room. Also breakfast was ok but if staying more than a couple of days I think you'd want more choice. Having said that there are plenty of cafes nearby. Overall I'd come again.

"Great Location!"
Resort44412115732, 16 Juin 2019

Location location location is everything. Hotel located walking distance to everything. It was perfect! From train station to red light district and more. Shopping stores were everywhere. There's a coffeeshop right across from the hotel but the best one for me was Kadinsky coffeeshop! Try them out!

"Great location"
rickbar9116, 28 Mai 2019

Great place to visit when in Amsterdam! Very central location. Very easy 9 minute walk from the train station. We had a room on the first floor facing the coffee shop... it was very noisy until the pub shut down for the night. Breakfast was nice. A good selection of baked goods, meat and Cheese, yogurt and granola, fresh coffee and juices. Overall a great stay. Just ask for a room off the street if you're a light sleeper.

"Great location"
ScruffypupB, 27 Mai 2019

We booked this hotel because of the great location which didn't let us down. Check in went great the lady on reception gave us a room early when we weren't expecting to check in until 2pm. The room was quite dark and dingy with two windows one view of a wall and one view into someone's room. The beds were the softest I've ever slept in and the bedding was of a good quality. There was a kettle with some horrible little plastic cups so please bring your own cups if you like a cuppa. Also there are only plastic glasses to drink out of which is not nice. The room was pretty clean until you looked in the corners and it was very dusty. The general maintenance is not up to standard for a Best Western hotel there was an electric plug socket hanging off the wall the hairdryer was hanging off the wall and it could have done with a coat of paint. Even the corridor was dark and dingy and could do with better lighting and fresh paint. I can't comment on breakfast because we chose not to have breakfast. All in all with a little TLC this hotel could be a little gem it just feels very unloved. We would return if there were some upgrades made.

"Great location and friendly staff"
Timbo5431, 20 Mai 2019

Loved the location being right on Dam Square, making it easy to walk anywhere. Also, in the morning, my wife and I had a 5am train, and the front desk attendant was very hospitable in taking care of us.

"Basic hotel in a good location"
K3086DNdonw, 18 Mai 2019

Visited in mid-May 2019. We spent a week in Amsterdam, mostly with friends who arrived via a cruise ship. Our first few nights were at a different hotel near Dam Square, but we moved to the Best Western when our friends arrived. Key takeaways: Good value in a central location. Clean lobby, breakfast room, and guest rooms. Currently guest rooms under renovation. Neighborhood is busy, with late night establishments. Easy walk to tram and metro. Decent breakfast included. We stayed in a room which had not been renovated yet, on the first floor in the back of the building. Our room was very quiet at night, which was not the case with our friends, who were in a newly renovated room, but at the front of the building. Nearby bars and cannabis lounges stay open late, and revelers are in the street through the wee hours. Our room was clean, with perfectly serviceable facilities. The beds were quite soft, as were the pillows. Room have air conditioning, but not needed during our stay. There is satellite TV, with English language stations from BBC and CNN. Lighting is quite dim. Room pluses: Many electrical outlets, both at the desk, and by each nightstand. Nice hot water kettle that we used to brew our own coffee, which we carry with us. Tiny thin plastic tea/coffee cups almost unusable, but nicer paper coffee cups are available at the coffee station in the lobby. There is a room safe. Only two hangers in the closet. Bathroom: Very nice stall type shower, with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. No washcloth is provided, so bring your own. Toiletries are very basic: Small cake soap, and liquid shower gel and shampoo. There is a wall mounted hair dryer. Bathroom was well serviced, with consumables being replaced, including toilet paper. Breakfast: We found the included breakfast to be absolutely fine. While there are no hot items, there is plenty of protein served, including hard boiled eggs, sliced meats and cheese, plus yogurt, many different cereals, and a toaster with sliced breads and rolls. The wait staff brings pots of coffee to your table. Several types of juice are available. Lobby: Nice bar where you can purchase a cocktail or beer. There is constant coffee service in this area (no snacks or biscuits). A large table with several chairs makes this a great place for a late afternoon rest, or playing cards. Desk staff were courteous, and helped us with a taxi reservation for an early morning departure. They also can provide extras for the room, like cups, if you need them. General location: Centrally located right off Dam Square. This neighborhood has a wide variety of businesses, including bars, massage parlors, and cannabis lounges, which can make for loud, and late-night folks in the street. We observed one police action next door, but otherwise there is no police patrol presence that we observed. Turning right out of the hotel door brings you to a better area, with more restaurants and shops. We are not sure that this neighborhood would be appropriate for travelers with young children. Most guests we encountered in the hotel were senior tourists. Bottom line: We would recommend this establishment to other adult experienced travelers looking for a basic, well located hotel in central Amsterdam. Travelers looking for a more refined or luxury hotel should look in other neighborhoods, or to superior brands such as the Swissotel a few blocks away.

"great staff and location"
Karla P, 15 Mai 2019

The staff was very helpful and kind. Rooms are older (remodeling in process), but clean and comfortable. The location is a quick walk from the train station and nicely located right behind the Dam square.

"great experience"
Patricia W, 03 Mai 2019

everyone was great and had a wonderful experience. Staff was very friendly and gave us great ideas about what to tour while we was there. I would defiantly recommend this hotel. The hotel was in the central of everything, was able to walk to everything.

"Reception staff excellent"
997KarenT, 29 Avril 2019

We booked this hotel for location and it certainly delivered. A short walk from central station, very close to all tourist attractions. The hotel was a little difficult to find but I think that says more about my ability to use google maps! The hotel is on a small pedestrian street behind the royal palace off Dam Square. Once we had found our bearings the location was superb. The room was basic, not yet renovated however we had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay. The bed was one of the comfiest I have slept in. Good to have tea and coffee facilities in the room. There is a large supermarket nearby which is useful. Lots of restaurants and coffees nearby. Breakfast was standard continental, again everything we needed and we enjoyed it. Tea and coffee is served then everything else is self service. Plenty of choice. I would stay here again.

"Great Location, Helpful Staff, Poor Continental Breakfast"
Alan B, 17 Avril 2019

The hotel is well located in the central part of old Amsterdam. It is within walking distance to the central train station and the trams are 1 to 2 blocks away. The hotel is located on a pedestrian only street (after 11:00 AM) so arriving with luggage means hauling it from the closest non restricted street. The rooms are plainly furnished and of an adequate but small size. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The biggest disappointment is their continental breakfast (included in the room rate). The bread was commercial mass produced tasteless "things". The continental breakfasts in our other similarly priced hotels in Holland offered a good assortment of fresh tasty bread. There is no reason, other than penny pinching, that the BW Dam couldn't do likewise.

"Very central location"
880ll, 02 Avril 2019

The hotel is a very central located and easy to reach walking from the central station. Tram and subway just around the corner. Very little noise even with such a location. The breakfast could need some improvments. Would visit it again.

"weekend visit"
mad_mikeManchester, 21 Mars 2019

We arrived with friends - just a couple of stops on the tram from Central Station makes the hotel convenient for shorter stays. Our room had not been refurbished and was dark. However it was clean and the bed was comfortable, but with only one comfortable chair to sit on. The TV was fine and there was a (small) kettle to make tea and coffee. However, there were just small, cheap, disposable, plastic cups provided. The shower room was extremely small and cramped and it was definitely a case of "room for one only". Breakfast was just a cold buffet, but the staff were happy to provide more tea/coffee. The small bar in the foyer was largely unused - though a couple of guys bought bottles of beer to take to their rooms. The best atttraction of the hotel was its staff, who were very willing and helpful. But, really, it was a let-down and we would not consider booking there again.

"Good quality mid range home in a great location"
dpc63, 13 Mars 2019

The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the city, being just one block back from Dam square, Some of the rooms have been renovated some have not. My room was not yet renovated, my colleagues was. The old room are a little dark, being mainly brown in decor and carpet. The new rooms are fresher and more appealing. The cost of the hotel and location are what give it a 4 star, on arrival the front of house man was a but grumpy, but from then on the ladies who were on duty were lovely. Breakfast is as you would expect, bread and bagels, cereal and cold meats. An alright place to stay in Amsterdam.

"Keep going back"
727frankj, 27 Janvier 2019

Our second visit to this hotel and for a City Centre location one of the best deals in town. Only down side for us this time was breakfast, as there was no cooked / hot offerings only cold continental style. One thing to note is that entrance to hotel is from a pedestrian zone so you will have a small walk from taxi / car if that's the way you travel.

"Good location with quiet nights"
patrickcwn, 22 Janvier 2019

one minute walk to the dam square from this allee, leading to a big shopping street where you can buy til you drop especially it's after fest sales in January, shopes close early at night so the surroundings became quiet at night, restaruants for tourists in walking distance, nice breakfast place and the food is nice (for people from Hong Kong), good mannered and helpful staff even there is always one person taking care of the counter, big room for three persons with a folding bed and big bathroom

"Great Location and Friendly Staff"
Robin P, 09 Janvier 2019

This small, advertised as 5-star, hotel is hard to find – it is on a tiny street with no vehicular traffic. I had a rookie transfer driver from the airport who spoke neither Dutch nor English very well and had to call his dispatcher. After listening to him struggle to speak/understand her in Dutch, I took over in English and established that we were actually at the correct spot to let me off the bus – corner of Nieuwejijds and Gravenstraat. Problem was driver then told me to go to Dam Square – a block away – wheeling two suitcases on cobble stones. At Dam Square a friendly café owner gave me a coffee and directions, walk down Eggertstraat Centrum at the end of which is Gravenstraat. The hotel is almost in front of Eggeststraat but I still walked past it!! A really tiny entrance. The Hotel is in an excellent location, 10 mins walk to the Canal where the tour boats leave from, close to tram lines, including the one which goes to the Museum/Concertgebouw area. My room (229) with double bed faced the street (more a laneway), was clean enough, adequate for one person – would be tight for two. Included a long table/desk with chair & TV. Bathroom OK but could do with a good scrub; a tiny shower (hard to work out how to get hot water) but good size basin with space for toiletries; hair dryer provided. There was what I thought to be some mould on the bathroom ceiling – my asthma did play up whilst staying there. I slept well, it was quiet although suspect weekends may not be as a number of bars, small restaurants on the street. Breakfast was continental style, plenty of juices, fruits, breads, cereals, sliced meats, cheeses - very adequate.

"Run down and poorly maintained"
Explorica, 06 Janvier 2019

First time I stayed here was in 2007 and it had the same decor , and same dusty night tables . Back in January 2019 and this place needs a fresh-up. The daytime girls are nice and friendly . Don't expect any service at the “ free breakfast “ but if your lucky they will poke their head out long enough to offer you some cold coffee . Only one elevator and the cleaning staff tiesnjt up throughout the day so get used to using the stairs . There is dust in the corners of the rooms and under the heaters that's has clearly been there for years . The “ late late “ night guy at front dean is unfriendly and has the same demeanour as the local coffee shops employees . As far as Best Western's go , this place is a major disappointment. No fridges in room either , no ice machine.

"Over priced"
sal41, 31 Décembre 2018

We had an overnight stay here. The staff were very helpful and friendly, check in was quick. Our room was small, but, reasonably well equipped. The bathroom was a joke. It was so small mainly due to the large wash basin . It took up too much room a slimmer rectangular one would have been better. The corner shower cubicle was small and the shower was fixed height and would not adjust temperature wise. There was insufficient room to get dried in the bathroom. The heating in the whole place was on 24/7. I turned the radiator off but it kept on heating up!! There was no window that would open. Breakfast was ok. A selection of the usual continental items a bit underwhelming. Overall I felt it was overpriced, the saving grace were the excellent staff.

"Good hotel. Decent price. 5 minute from Central station and 10 minutes from Central Station to Airport."
Maxim O, 30 Décembre 2018

Good hotel. Decent price. 5 minute from Central station and 10 minutes from Central Station to Airport. 10 minutes by walk from RLD. Good breakfast perfect location. Close to Van Gogh Museum. 2 minutes to Madam Tussaud museum. Tulip market 15 minutes by walk. Shopping is right there. Good restaurants around. Try bakeries, they are very good there.

"Ideal Location"
B_Krystal, 24 Décembre 2018

The room was average. Slightly small for three people, but not too bad considering European standards. The shower was also smaller, but the water was warm with decent pressure. The breakfast was as expected with cereal, meats, cheeses, breads and juices. The staff are kind and accommodating especially with retrieving tea and coffee at breakfast. The location is probably the greatest asset to the hotel. Within walking distance of central station, the Anne Frank House, museums and the Heineken Experience.

"Great location "
capt_davo, 18 Décembre 2018

Just off Dam Square, central to everything. Two minute walk to the main shopping street. Small bathroom but largish rooms. Three teenagers stay in a triple with pull down bed - all fine. Breakfast was the standard Continental.

"Jim Curtis "
jamescE8186TW, 28 Novembre 2018

This is my third stay at this hotel, decor is dated but clean, can't beat the location a one minute walk to Dam square, continental breakfast is ok, would recommend this hotel staff are friendly and helpful and the location is great short walk to canals red light District and shopping streets

"Great location"
Coralia-Coral, 25 Novembre 2018

This hotel has a great location. It is at 10-15 minutes by walking to any major touristic attraction, located in Dam Square the access to public transport it is very easy. The hotel it is not a luxurious one, but was clean. The bathroom had the essentials and it was very clean. The bed was big and very comfy. The breakfast was a cold buffet but for a 2-3 days stay it is ok. All in all it is a good hotel with a great location.

"Very good stay !!"
AmolV63, 23 Novembre 2018

Hotel location is around 10-15 min. walking from Amsterdam Central Station. However, located slightly off site from main road, no big display board so slightly difficult to find out. But stay was very good. Stayed here for 3 nights. Room was good with basic amenities. Breakfast was OK and very few options. The main attraction Dam square area is only 5 min. walking distance from hotel. Also nearby have Burger king and McDonald. Also you will find Indian restaurants around 10 min. walking distance. Would recommend this hotel for stay !!

"Great Location !"
Joe M, 12 Novembre 2018

You can't beat the location, on a small side street off the Dam Square, easy to get to public transportation, free breakfast , plenty of restaurants, bars and shops in the area. We stayed here 2 nights prior to a Viking River cruise

"Average Hotel in a Great Location"
Vincent G, 12 Novembre 2018

We stayed here for 2 nights before boarding a river cruise ship. The hotel lobby is fine .. the rooms are a little tired ...cleanliness was ok .. the shower did not drain well ... we stayed on the third floor rear of the property and it was quiet at night .. don't know if it would be noisy staying in a room toward the street .. the beds were two twins pushed together. The breakfast was cold continental .. not hot items .. breakfast was OK. The location was great. On a pedestrian only street close to Dam Square. near everything and close to shopping, restaurants, and 2 tram lines. The location of this hotel is a 5 . The rooms were a 3 and the lobby and breakfast area a 4 ... so my overall rating would be a 4. I would stay here again as long as the price is as reasonable as what we paid.

"Very Disappointing"
KRTRIPSTER, 12 Novembre 2018

Small reception area, mediocre breakfast, tiny room and bathroom with VERY saggy bed. Complained to staff and we were able to switch rooms- still small but mattress improvement. Staff very unpleasant on the whole- not who I would hire for the hotel tourist industry. If you want to stay by Dam Square look elsewhere!

"Nice hotel in a great location"
Doug B, 04 Novembre 2018

Booked this hotel for 3 nights and were very pleased. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was awesome, a short walk to everything. Our room was terrific, in a newly renovated section of the hotel. The only difficulty we had was initially finding the hotel as it's on a pedestrian only street.

"Central Location"
AlexJ262, 31 Octobre 2018

I stayed here for a night this week. Location is fantastic- less than 10 mins walk from Centraal Station, in the heart of the city centre just off of Dam Square. The receptionist was a bit offish when I arrived but he seemed to get friendlier as my stay went on! My 3rd floor room was generally clean, although there was a lot of rubbish down the side of the desk so they clearly only clean what they can easily see! Plenty of storage space and tea/coffee provided. The bed was comfortable which is of course the most important thing! The ensuite was, like the room, on the small side, but plenty of towels and toiletries were provided. There's a small bar in the lobby, though I seemed to be the only guest who used it! Drinks are reasonably priced although they didn't have any draught beer unfortunately. Breakfast was included in my rate and offers a good range of continental items. Overall I found this BW to be an OK hotel for a night, but rather basic so I wouldn't recommend it for longer stays.

"Great little hotel"
BellevilleTraveler, 30 Octobre 2018

We stayed here for two nights before starting our river cruise. We arrived at 7 in the morning and were welcomed by the lovely front desk staff. We dropped our luggage in the storage room and headed out to explore the city. Our room was great.....quiet and well appointed. The breakfast which was included was fresh and plentiful. The location of this hotel is fabulous. Lots to see and do within walking distance.

"Perfect spot"
GillianCos, 30 Octobre 2018

Perfectly located to explore the city. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was a little limited, rooms a little dated and can be a bit noisy. No real views as such due to location.

"Excellent Value"
Marie M, 23 Octobre 2018

Best Western Dam Square is located within easy walking distance from the Centrale train/bus/tram station. You get the feel for Amsterdam as you walk through the cobblestone walking streets. Room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast buffet was awesome, definitely an excellent way to start your day.

"Just ok"
brunsluvr, 18 Octobre 2018

We came to Amsterdam early to play tourists before going on a Viking River cruise. The location of the hotel is great-in a charming area of the city. The man who checked us in was less than cordial but the lady at the desk in the afternoon was a great help to us. The hotel seems not to fuss over the appearance of things like carpet stains or go the extra mile with cleaning-our shower stall had mold in it and was rather disgusting. It was a conspicuous problem and just a matter of laziness. I don't care if the room is cramped, just please be clean. Oh, also, twin beds pushed together are really still two twin beds and not a queen. Maybe this is how Europeans roll but not a fan.

"Excellent location with very friendly, helpful front desk staff"
Typh00n, 15 Octobre 2018

Stayed here for 6 nights; breakfast was excellent (and included in the price). Rooms vary in size depending on what you're given, but ours was a corner room and adequate for our needs. Only snag was that the alleys around the hotel are so narrow, that we had to keep our curtains closed most of the time because the folks across the way could easily see into our room. But that was only a minor inconvenience. There is a hairdryer provided, and it's a walk in shower in the bathroom (which we prefer to a tub type shower). The beds ARE very soft; I almost rolled out whenever I got too close to the edge. But they were very comfortable. Lighting is very dim in the room; it's very difficult to read a book or apply makeup. There is a safe in the room, but there isn't an iron and ironing board, however if you ask at the front desk they will lend you one. The room was cleaned every day, and on the whole they did a good job provided you didn't look too closely at the shelf under the dresser (which was THICK with dust). And they should vacuum more often (we had bits on our rug that were still there several days later). But on the whole I'd say the cleanliness is comparable with most other hotels of it's type, and better than some. The location of this hotel is fantastic; it's within walking distance of just about everywhere you're likely to want to go. And it's only a 10 min walk from the railway station. The front desk staff will store your luggage for you if you arrive before check in time, or need to check out long before heading to the airport. There's a small bar in the front lobby where you can buy a drink and take it up to your room, which we enjoyed doing some evenings. And if you need a map of the downtown area you can find one on the desk next to the computer in the lobby. There are also some smaller maps on the front desk itself. You can check in for your return flight using this lobby computer, but as there wasn't a printer and we don't have a smart phone, we had to get the front desk clerk to print out our boarding passes. Which would have been tricky if the lobby had been busy and the front desk clerk had been using his computer for other things. Luckily it wasn't, so we didn't have a problem, but they should hook up that customer computer with a printer that is behind the front desk (different to the one the clerk needs to use).

"Very good location although down a narrow side street from Dam Square with no views anywhere in the hotel."
neil c, 12 Octobre 2018

Old historic building situated in a narrow side-road close to Dam square that has been converted into hotel. Very central and close to central train station and all main attractions. However do not expect a room with a view. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

"A Real Gem"
scottryan182, 11 Octobre 2018

We keep returning to this hotel because of its convenient location and its amazing staff. It is clean, safe, and within walking distance to almost everything one would want to see or do in Amsterdam. The staff is friendly, efficient, and goes beyond expectations to make quests feel welcome. This is our fourth time staying at this hotel in Amsterdam.

"good hotel in very good location"
tcao, 05 Octobre 2018

The hotel is OK. The location is very good. The service is very good. Service is very helpful and tries to solve issues. Room was clean. Internet was fast. I like to stay in this hotel when I am traveling to Amsterdam.

"Hotel with split personality"
Deanna P, 02 Octobre 2018

I don't expect perfection. But for having so many negatives, the price was way too high for this hotel. We won't be returning. Positives: Cute and clean lobby, bar and breakfast areas Very nice and helpful staff Very well appointed breakfast for Continental style Terrific location Room and bathroom had plenty of space Negatives: Rooms are dated, dingy and loud Beds are soft, pillows are lumpy The large space in the room was wasted: very little storage for clothes, either in the room or in the closet - just add some shelves and hooks! Also very little space available for hanging clothes, and inconveniently arranged Nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom - very strange and inconvenient No views

"Clean Hotel, Great Location"
Doug D, 01 Octobre 2018

This is a clean, functional hotel in a great location. It is a dated building/room but probably very similar to other hotels in the price range of center city hotels. Nothing special but the room was functional and acceptable. The staff was very helpful.

"A Lovely Weekend Here"
ShelleyA1968, 27 Septembre 2018

Stayed here recently whilst visiting Amsterdam, it was in a great location just off Dam Square. The hotel was very nice, beds were comfortable and it was a continental breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful and they even supplied umbrellas for us to use which was a godsend as the weather wasn't too good while we were there.

"Perfect Spot "
Meg1235, 23 Septembre 2018

Our stay here was perfect. The hotel is well maintained and the staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful. The included breakfast had quite a few options. Walking distance to central station and surrounded by shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again upon a return to Amsterdam

"Great Location"
DAVID H, 14 Septembre 2018

We stayed at the Best Western Dam Square after a Rhine River cruise. The location was perfect, very near the cruise port and central train station. There is also a tram stop outside the hotel as well. Staff was extremely helpful with directions, advice and answering our questions. Included continental breakfast has a nice selection and area was large and kept very clean. I will be recommending this property to others.

"Well located hotel in Amsterdam"
Angie1105, 09 Septembre 2018

The location of the Best Western Dam Square Inn was very good. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. WiFi worked very well. The beds were comfortable. Our primary complaint is that our room had no window. It had what amounts to a skylight. We payed the same as everyone else in our party and they had windows. The rooms have very little storage space. There was really no place to unpack. Secondarily, our TV didn't work during our entire stay.

"Great staff, very noisy neighborhood."
ltcjdc, 22 Août 2018

Great, friendly, helpful staff. Great free breakfast. Great Location. You can walk to the train station. Terribly noisy, cramped rooms, and neighborhood, but it does calm down about 3:30 a.m. Not a good value. I'd look elsewhere.

"Fantastic location "
Lisa D, 11 Août 2018

Great location right in the heart of dam so easy to get every where .... small basic rooms but everything you need we have booked again for next year already xx clean and nice brekkie too and staff really friendly

"Excellent location but poor choice of hotel - would avoid "
lisajane2305, 10 Août 2018

Excellent location, right by Dam Square, in the middle of the city, only ten minutes walk from the train station. However, that's the only positive thing I can say about this hotel; - some rooms are in a basement (dingy) - my first floor room was incredibly noisy because of the bars outside the hotel - breakfast is continental only with limited choice - check in took one hour for three people - no iron or ironing board in the room - no milk or fridge in the room, they do provide a kettle but only little plastic cups to have a drink in Really, save your money and stay at the Ibis next door to the train station, it's probably a similar grade hotel but cheaper in price. I would not recommend this hotel.

"Boots suite was a treasure"
DanDickison, 06 Août 2018

We enjoyed a 2 week stay here and thoroughly enjoyed our entire visit. The suite was a real treat, with a spiral staircase from the hallway up to our large room. A spacious bedroom at the back, with a hallway to a nice sitting room with 2 easy chairs and a couch, and a fridge slightly larger than those found in your typical hotel room. We found the staff to be gracious and attentive.

"Good central hotel and excellent value for money."
Iloveholidays34, 06 Août 2018

We stayed here for a weekend in August and it really was a great stay, staff were nice, room was clean, beds were extremely soft which I wasn't keen on. But all in all I would defiantly recommend this hotel, noise wasn't and issue and you could literally walk out the hotel and go to the main square. Very close to train station too. I was really pleased with this place. It had air con (which was much needed as it was so hot the weekend we went) it's clean, quite and friendly I would defiantly stay here again and feel it's excellent value for money.

"Most staff excellent but filthy room"
JOBrien_irl, 31 Juillet 2018

Stayed here for one night July 2018 with my two children. The hotel is in great location, hard to find but walking distance to central station (20-25mins) and lots of amenities. The room was old, dark and very dirty. There was dust everywhere and on check out we found boots (someone else's!) under the bed. I asked about allergy pillows in reception and was told the pillows were the pillows so didn't bother raising any other issues with the guy on the desk. I just made sure the children didn't touch anything. Breakfast was fine, very friendly staff and well stocked. Checkout was also very friendly but they didn't ask how my stay was. The location saved this trip from being a disaster but the room really was unacceptably dirty.

"Comfortable and Convenient"
Andy A, 22 Juillet 2018

This hotel is very comfortable and convenient. It's located at Dam Square so you are already in one of the most active spots in Amsterdam by staying there. Most of the attractions are within walking distance and you can also walk to the Central Train station quite easily. There is also lots of shopping around so you'll be able to find anything around. That covers the location. The hotel itself is well kept the bed is very comfortable and the room is always kept clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was included with the room. Wi-Fi is also included. Don't expect it to be ultra lux but for the price it's very good.

"Not bad for a Best Western"
maraalfa, 20 Juillet 2018

Service was great but the rooms are tired as is often the case in Best Westerns. Location is good with plenty of places to eat and drink close by. You're paying for location not room quality, bed and shower not what I like but slept OK.

"Hotel was nice but Office Staff Really Good!"
Linda F, 20 Juillet 2018

Sunny made our vacation in Amsterdam by researching places for us to eat and arranging the reservations. He was not officially the concierge but instead the office help who does check in! There were also really friendly women who served our buffet breakfast WHILE checking in people - Nice hotel - clean, beds were really soft and comfortable - and perfect location for sightseeing! Thank you.

"Nice place in the center of the city"
StepanovicC, 18 Juillet 2018

Best Western Dam Square Inn is situated in the proximity of Dam plein and its position provides you with some nice sites to look around on foot. Breakfast buffet does not have much choice but is very tasty. Rooms are nice, clean and decently equipped.

"Great location"
608Mike, 10 Juillet 2018

Just behind the Cathedral, and moments away from The "Dam" square which is really the city centre. This is a fairly small but excellently run, with friendly staff, large comfortable rooms and a great breakfast !

"Great location, at great cost, overall standard could be better for the price"
Sanjaya_Wijeyekoon, 07 Juillet 2018

I stayed here for one night recently. The headline is that the location is great, right in the heart of things but you pay a significant premium for it. My room at least was I would describe OK but for the cost of the room I would have expected better. The facilities include satchets of nescafe for coffee. Getting from the hotel to the station was very straightforward and pretty much on the flat ideal for rolling luggage. Breakfast was included and was decent. All staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful.

"Great location, QUIET room and full breakfast tto"
SteveinPhilly, 05 Juillet 2018

We were in Amsterdam for one night pre-cruise on June 8th. Be aware that the centrally located hotels (decent ones) START at $220 and up and many near $400/night. I was able to book the BW early enough to get a decent rate of $229US . Perfect location in building on a really quiet side street just off Dam Square. We wanted a quiet room so got one on ground floor in rear and it wasperfect. Free WIFI good and price included a large breakfast. Front desk staff was great. They book up quickly so we were lucky to get a room on a pre-cruise night in season

"Great location"
Janninedf, 04 Juillet 2018

This hotel was in a great location. Easy walk from train station. Also easy to get to almost all sites. My only complaint was the room was a bit small. and the window only views another window so you really needed to keep curtain shut. However if you need a place to stay that is clean and with a decent breakfast this will do the trick early.

"Great. "
ozart, 13 Juin 2018

This hotel is in a building built in the 17th century, so don't expect big fancy rooms and bathrooms. The rooms however are comfortable although the bathrooms are a bit pokey. The staff was terrific, friendly, helpful and fun. The location is amazing, just off Dam square tons of restraunt, bars and shopping right out the door. The bed making and room cleaning left a little to be desired but we were so exhausted by the end of our days in Amsterdam we didn't pursue it.

"Great Location"
Froggy1968, 10 Juin 2018

Great location right in the heart of Amsterdam, the staff where so friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean air-conditioned (vital when we were here as the weather was so warm) and the beds very comfortable will definitely return again.

"Excellent location"
Lulu312659, 07 Juin 2018

We will stay here again as the location of this hotel is very good. It is walking distance to all the main sites. Room and bathroom are small but clean. Beds a little bit too soft. Breakfast was adequate. Staff friendly.

"Dingy hotel"
Ellen S, 23 Mai 2018

The location of this hotel was very good, however, this hotel is in great need of updating. The carpet was dirty and old throughout the hotel. Our view was walls. The bathroom was old and not clean. Generally, this was an old, dirty, and dingy. Depressing place to stay.

"Central location, pleasant staff, tiny bathroom"
globaltraveller200, 14 Mai 2018

The Best Western is very centrally located - 150 m from Dam Square - and is thus an excellent location for tourists concentrating on the main sites. However, there is no vehicular access and the hotel is c. 200 m from the nearest taxi drop-off point. The building is a conversion of a distillery and has a small lobby and breakfast room on the ground floor. Room size varies. Ours was ok for a weekend but its bathroom was the smallest we can remember and it would be a challenge for overweight or pregnant guests. Breakfast was an adequate but unexciting buffet with no fruit except hard apples. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. WiFi is free but somewhat complex to access. Overall, the Best Western is a satisfactory base for a weekend and reasonable value by local standards – but it's not a destination.

"Quiet hotel in great location!"
karoleigh, 14 Mai 2018

This isn't the most elegant hotel I've ever stayed in. The room was on the small size, but it was comfortable. Everything was in good working order. No complaints there. Breakfast comes with your hotel stay, which is a real plus. It includes cold foods, such as cheese, ham, cereal, breads, and fruit. You can't beat that location! A short walk takes you to the square of town, the Anne Frank House, the Red Light District, and much more. You have many choices of fast food and pubs within the immediate area. Although you are close to the best of what the area offers, the hotel is very quiet. We didn't hear any noise during the night or during the day when we were tired (jet lagged) and wanted to rest. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

"Great location and spacious room"
Raysa15, 05 Mai 2018

This was our most spacious room in our trip and I really appreciated the soft bed. The hotel is in a pedestrian narrow street close to everything. The staff is very helpful and the continental breakfast has plenty of variety. We enjoyed our stay and the location.

"Couple on city break"
susan c, 29 Avril 2018

Reception staff friendly and helpful. Nice touch of free coffee water and orange in reception. Rooms ok, shower fine, beds comfy. Let down by the plastic tea cups in our room. Breakfast continental but sufficient though not a lot of choice. Location was brilliant right amongst everything. I would return here.

"Great location"
Keith L, 29 Avril 2018

The hotel is just one minute from Dam Square so beside the main shopping street and walking distance to the main sites. It is located down a narrow street so difficult to find, even when standing outside it. The rooms, as expected in Amsterdam, are tight but the bathroom is modern and the beds very soft. Breakfast was continental but fresh and plentiful. Hot boiled eggs with cold meats and cheese. Cheery staff. Luggage room available at no cost.

"Fantastic city"
nailgirlessex, 25 Avril 2018

After arriving at Schipol airport we took the train to Amsterdam Centraal station. We put on Google maps and it directed us to our hotel the Best Western Dam Square which was just an 8 to 10 min walk from the station. The hotel was just perfect. The lady who checked us in was more than helpful and allocated us room 103 as it's on ground level. The room was more than adequate for our stay with double bed, safe, wardrobes and shelf space. The en suite was small but had a walk in shower, w.c and sink. Breakfast consists of cereal, cheese, meat a few pieces of fruit and cereal and yoghurt. There is bread and rolls and a toast machine. There is jam, honey and peanut butter and the staff will bring you tea and coffee. Very satisfactory to start your day. The hotel is in an ideal location to start your exploration of this amazing city and I can highly recommend The Best Western not only for its location but the staff are always on hand with a warm greeting and a friendly smile.

"Great location, good value for money"
Alison A, 24 Avril 2018

Room was fine apart from lights that came on on a motion censor. Annoying when nipping to the loo in the night. Needs a mirror for make up application in the room. Breakfast was good, plenty of it and all the staff we encountered were really friendly. Great Jenever bar/shop in complex (Dutch gin that is) Staff in there wonderfully knowledgeable.

"Two good stays"
Kathleen_Reston, 22 Avril 2018

We stayed twice at the Best Western Dam Square during our visit to the Netherlands in March. Our daughter lives just down the street, but even without that it's a nice place to stay. Comfortable beds, roomy bathrooms [though the showers are a bit small], and a nice continental breakfast. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful, including opening breakfast 15 minutes early for us on the last day when we had to get to the airport. There are several nearby restaurants, and many tram lines within a few blocks. We particularly wanted a place with an elevator, and after seeing the stairs at my daughter's apartment I'm so glad!

"Relies on location"
gcroke, 13 Avril 2018

Hotel relying on its location” The power of the shower was great and lots of hot water. The heating was very good. The location was perfect. No more than 20 minutes from anything. Staff on desk were very friendly. Towels in the bathroom and bed linen clean. Bed way to soft. Bathroom dirty, smelly and mouldy. Tea and coffee facitities were in the bathroom??? Very little light in room. Pillows smelt like someone else. Breakfast very basic. Over all the room needed upgrading and a good clean

"Fab hotel in a superb location "
Kellylouisa, 31 Mars 2018

Just back from a 2 night stay and this hotel was excellent. The location is perfect, it's down a lovely little alleyway and a minutes walk from Dam Square. We had a triple room which meant there was a pull down bed as the third bed. The room wasn't very big but we didn't spend an awful lot of time in it so that was one. Was very clean with an amazingly comfortable bed! Bathroom was more than satisfactory - just had a shower cubicle. Breakfast here is continental and included in the cost and is just right to set you up for the day. The staff were all very friendly. I'm already recommending the hotel to friends and family and I think that is the benchmark for hotels, would you recommend it and in this case, yes I would!

"Good location and nice stay"
harrietsmi12, 29 Mars 2018

Really nice location, staff are friendly and happy to help, rooms are clean and quite big. Breakfast is nice, highly recommend to anyone looking for a cheap but nice hotel to stay in. Couldn't fault anything.

"great hotel at a great location"
Wendy C, 17 Mars 2018

right in the center of everything, reasonably priced and trams almost out front door, breakfast was included, they had a computer and printer for guests to use. near central station but quiet. highly recomended,

"Location"
mommybug5172, 03 Mars 2018

Nice location if you want to be near the Square and the Red Light District, very busy area. We chose the Best Western because their web site listed parking as a feature. However, when we checked in we were told parking is not included and we would have to go to a car park for 50Euro per 24 hour period or try to find street parking at 40 Euro per 24hour period. This was a huge disappointment and blow to our budget. As for the room, it was on the smaller side but very clean and the wifi worked well. My only disappointment with the room was the early construction/sanding noise that happened each morning above us. Not exactly how we wanted to wake up daily. The breakfast was basic, but good, with a variety or meat, cheese, toast, cereal, fruit.

"Lovely trip"
Dean C, 02 Mars 2018

2nd visit to this hotel .Brilliant. location is perfect right in centre. Staff in front desk very welcoming and friendly and helpful. We will definitely return to this hotel again carnt recommend this hotel highly enough

"Good location good value"
Icando25, 26 Février 2018

Set in the heart of Amsterdam the location is excellent. The hotel looks really old world from the outside but inside it isn't. The staff are great very friendly funny and helpful we could not fault them at all even changing our room from a double to a twin when we saw what we had... Good stuff. The rooms arr fairly basic but you are in Amsterdam you will only be sleeping in it nothing else. The beds are VERY comfortable tv in rooms is good bathrooms are clean with complimentary soaps shower gels etc. there are tea and coffee making facilities and a free safe. The rooms were very quiet even tho the hotel was full. Excellent location and for the money we paid excellent value. Will be using again next year.

"Nice but basic"
Paul C, 22 Février 2018

Stayed here on a short break with my wife. The staff were friendly , room was clean and basic but the main selling point is location. A 10 minute walk from the station and everything is on its doorstep will be back again.

"Great location and staff"
dollyloulondon, 06 Février 2018

I stayed here for a few days in January. I've stayed here a couple of years ago so aware it's a little dated but it's spotless and quiet. Has good cable tv and tv and coffee making facilities. I had some problems on my last day and the night receptionist and the female receptionist who took over from him in the morning were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I can't rate them highly enough. I'll be eternally grateful. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment but bearing in mind the fabulous, central location of this hotel, along with some staff members..... I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

"Friendly, and central "
Pgold95, 22 Janvier 2018

This was a great hotel for the price. The breakfast was great with plenty of options available. Room was spacious with a big enough bathroom to move around in. Hotel was also very central which was handy. Close to the square and in the heart of cafes and restaurants. Friendly and warm staff

"Clean room, great location."
Douglas M, 22 Janvier 2018

Hotels in this area are all old, the location is great. I would say 60% of the things you need to see are within walking distance. That is again if you really like to walk. This 10 min away walking from the central railway station. No need for you to grab a taxi. The rooms are clean, but very small. If you like big rooms this is not the hotel for you. Beds arwle comfortable. Breakfast is included, but they have a poor buffet. Don't expect anything other than hams, bread, cereal. More of a continental breakfast than anything. Customer is ok. Amsterdam overall has good customer service. Probably i am just used to what i habe gotten in america and some parts of asia. My customer service standards are high now.

"Perfect place to stay"
Gez32, 22 Janvier 2018

Best western dam square inn Is the perfect place to stay right in the heart of Amsterdam hotel is clean and tidy the staff are friendly and helpful Every thing that you need for a weekend away you're a five minute walk from all the main attractions Madame Tussaud's ect . Also five minutes walk to red light district and other places you need to visit while in Amsterdam

"Sky High"
Sarry H, 15 Janvier 2018

If you would like to stay in the city of amsterdam, i would recommend staying at the Best Western.. friendly staff and breakfast is only continental but still satisfying, also right across the street (like 3 steps) is a coffee shop you would really enjoy. ?? There are alot of food places around you and alot of tours/museum around that you can't miss out.

"best location"
bhondablue, 22 Décembre 2017

this a really great quaint hotel. the locatkon is absolutely fabulous. a few blocks to Red light district, city squafre, some of the best shopping in all of amsterdamn, close to the river docks and the railroad station. nothing is out of walking distance. the rooms are small but very nicely done and all rooms in Amsterdam are small. hot water seemed to be unlimited and hot. breakfast here was continental but delicious. even had hot hard boiled eggs. coffee in room but also in the lobby 24 hours a day. staff so nice. and they are honest. wife and i checked out, went to river dock to board a Viking river ship for 8 day cruise, and after about 2 hours discovered to my horror, i had left almost all of our money and credit cards in the room safe. cruise sjip called for me and they said was waiting for me at the front desk. WOW.

"Affordable and nicely located"
lyna576, 21 Décembre 2017

It is located near a lot of places you want to go just by walking. Its small but clean and comfortable enough to sleep for the night. The Breakfast was good and sufficient .You would be surprised at how close it is too places like restaurants, church, malls and the Dam square where people gather . Don't forget to bring something to feed the pigeons on Dam square when you go there for they will not go near you without food- I did not and they were turning their beaks on me(lol).

"Great location, friendly staff"
Tom R, 11 Décembre 2017

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night. It's location was perfect, in the centre of dam and walking distance to a numerous amount of attractions. The hotel itself was very well maintained and the staff we're very nice. If you're looking for a basic stay in a great location, then I would recommend staying here.

"Best Location for the price"
Bill O, 21 Novembre 2017

Dam Square is the “place to be” in Amsterdam. This Best Western is right in Dam Square. The rooms were clean and atmosphere was ok but not great. The breakfast was good and the hotel staff allowed us to drink our own wine purchased on our river cruise. They gave us glasses and ice. Hotel is secure. Great restaurants near by. If you stay here be sure to go about 2 doors east to the De Niewe Pilserij restaurant. The hotel arranged a low cost airport transfer for us. We would stay there again.

"Right in the center!"
Rutger M, 20 Novembre 2017

This is a small hotel situated in a small alley right beside the Niewe Kerk. The room (118) was small but clean and tidy. Small bathroom but also clean and well maintained. Bed is Ok with big pillows. The only negative is that you can hear people taking or shouting in the alley so it can be some disturbance during the night, next time I would choose another room facing another way. The breakfast is Ok, you get everything you need. Big plus for your own coffepot atthe table.

"Great Hotel, Great Location"
Shady S, 20 Novembre 2017

1st stay at this hotel & will not be last. Hotel Location is great, near the Dam Square where you can find many bars, restaurants & a lot of shops, you have C&A, Primark, toys, Cheese Factories...... Staff are so helpful specially Mrs Zsoka & Mr Hussain, thank you.

"Excellent hotel for price and location"
ej f, 15 Novembre 2017

Stayed here for a week and quite impressed by the staff, Mr. Sonny and Ms. Zsoka among others! All very friendly, they provided helpful information on what to do, where to go, where to eat. Sorted our printing our airline boarding passes too! A more than adequate complimentary breakfast offers standard European fare. The lobby hosts a small bar which we never saw people use. Yes, there's a lift/elevator! Room 335 on the 3rd floor pleased us, especially after experiencing other Amsterdam hotels in the same price range. Large enough, quiet, clean, comfortable beds and a decent [by Amsterdam standards] sized bathroom (with a small shower). The Hotel is tucked away on an alley type street [no vehicular traffic allowed] occupying an historic building. We taxied in from the airport [about 50 euros]; the driver knew the hotel location and helped us carry our bags about 150 feet from the main street. Going to the airport by taxi worked well, again with the driver assisting with luggage. One could take the airport train or bus to save money but likely not time and certainly not effort. Dam Square is steps away from the hotel. Many nearby bars, shops, tattoo parlours, coffee shops, and dining options exist. We will stay here again.

"Great location!"
Andrea F, 12 Novembre 2017

Hotel has a simple breakfast! And no fridge in the rooms! Great location ! Near a lot of fast food like mcdonalds and burguer king that you can go after midnight! Near coffee shops as.well! And a lot of stores....shopping!

"Amsterdam Visit"
Al T, 08 Novembre 2017

The Best Western Dam Square Inn is in an older building, as most building nags in Europe are. Wonderfully located, this hotel gives easy access to the trolley lines, the Central Station (train system) and lots of attractions, shopping and museums.

"Excellent location, very good hotel"
BonnieLN, 02 Novembre 2017

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights prior to a Viking River Cruise. Walked from the main train station. Hotel is tucked away on an alley type street in an historic building. Dam Square is only steps away. Lots of dining options close by. Very friendly staff who provided helpful information on what to do, where to go, where to eat. Our friends stayed on the first floor (room 101, I think) and weren't thrilled with it. We were on the 3rd floor and were pleased with our room. It was big enough, clean, a comfortable bed and acceptable sized bathroom (small shower though). The complimentary breakfast was just okay; by day 3 it got very boring. Biggest plus was the location. I would stay here again.

"Good Location but make sure you have a map."
nick7p, 29 Octobre 2017

Perfect location for middle of Amsterdam but if you don't have your bearings can be a nightmare to find particularly late at night after a few beers ! Pretty bog standard city centre hotel my room 119 was at the front and quite noisy with late back revellers plus the road sweeper every morning at 7am ! Lift slowest in the world and rooms small , breakfast lacking but all in ok for the price

"Great location, dirty rooms"
Kwamina77, 24 Octobre 2017

Location is great and close to all the sights worth seeing. Housekeeping does a terrible job of cleaning up the rooms. My shower and toilet were never cleaned during my 3 night stay. The carpets in the room were dated and fraying at the seams.

"Perfect location to enjoy the city"
Jane M, 22 Octobre 2017

This is a very pleasant hotel and is distinctive, by which I mean not the usual ' chain ' mentality. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Our room for 3 nights was fairly small and at the back of the hotel which was very quiet overlooking a tiny street. The bathroom and shower were ideal. Room and bathroom clean with tea and coffee and a hairdryer. The breakfast is a good selection of meat, cheese, bread, rolls, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea and juices. The location is great on a pedestrianised street with cafes, bars and restaurants. Just a stone's throw from Dam Square and many shops. Also near public transport. We loved visiting the amazing Anne Frank's house, awesome Van Gogh museum and taking a river cruise through the many canals. People everywhere were very friendly and chilled. We loved Amsterdam and will certainly return to this special city.

"Location Location location"
David1101, 12 Octobre 2017

This hotel is the best location in the city. The friendly staff and immaculate rooms make it a hotel worth staying at. It is usually a very good value but not so easy to book because those who know Amsterdam love this place.I have to mention that the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in.The breakfast was fine and coffee very good. There was no real hot foods but you could make toast. Everything was fresh and well presented. This Location is perfect for Shopping on Kalverstraat as you are just steps away from shops and cafes. A short walk to central station and a perfect base for exploring the center and neighborhoods of the city. The many street cafes and restaurants near by make it easy for a late night stroll out for dinner or a drink. The hotel is just a few meters from Dam Square and the Nieuwe Kerk. Great coffee, cheese shop and more restaurants. If you are seeing Amsterdam for the first time or !00th you will be pleased with this place.

"Excellent location"
Beachcomber10, 08 Octobre 2017

We stayed at the Best Western Dam Square Inn for two nights in early September. The location was perfect for us, fairly close to the train station and within walking distance of most sites. Also lots of restaurant choices nearby. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that the breakfast was not as good as any of the other hotels we stayed at on our journey around Europe. It was not poor, just very average. The staff were helpful, courteous and professional. The hotel is close to the Dam Square, but on a quiet street. We slept very well.

"Great Location Just 10 minute walk from Amsterdam Central!"
Michael M, 08 Octobre 2017

I booked this hotel for 3 nights as the second part of our 4 country Honeymoon. It is extremely difficult booking hotels for Europe I found, but I felt confident with the Best Western Brand. As someone that over analyses everything, I'll give you the low down on this place! 1) Location: Unbelievable to say the least, Damrak is pretty much the main street Amsterdam, and this hotel is just off the main strip. I wanted something close to Amsterdam Central Train Station, and this was only a 10 minute walk, and was very easy to find. You walk down the main strip, walk past the Starbucks (if you hit the KFC you've gone to far), hang a right, you walk down some narrow ally's (all of amsterdam has narrow ally's so don't be alarmed) and there it is, we were 7 Minute walk to Anne Frank Haus, 7 Minute Walk to Red Light District, We walked to the Heineken Experience which was about 30 minutes), but this place had amazing location! 2) Customer Service: Really great! very welcoming staff, helped with any questions we had, pretty much the customer service you would expect from this chain. 3) Rooms: Size of the room was really good, bigger than I anticipated, we had 2 single beds pushed together, and then there was also a murphy bed that came out of the wall. There was a chair, desk, etc and really was a generous size. I didn't find our room noisy at all but it could have been the fact that our window was facing the inner part of the building so we didn't have a street view or anything. The only thing about the rooms is that they are fairly dated, so don't expect anything Modern, but still, it was always clean, fresh towels provided, etc. 4) Breakfast: Was pretty typical of what other hotels seemed to offer, hard boiled eggs, cold meats, cheese, yogurt, fruit, croissants, breads, cereal, - a really good variety for a continental breakfast. I'm not sure if some people just set expectations really high, but it's not like you're going to get Eggs Benedict, as long as you manage your expectations you won't be disappointed. All in all - really great location close to everything, I would stay here again for my next trip to Amsterdam,

"Hidden Gem!"
Alison S, 03 Octobre 2017

If you want the perfect location for central Amsterdam, this is it. Absolutely perfect spot, just next to the church. Lovely little coffee shop, bakery and cafe across the street, and down the street is the perfect little bar 'Cafe Belgique', which specializes in beers. Their beer menu is fab, the staff are so friendly and they play some great music. all the shops are nearby and Dam Square is just round the corner. Quite a basic Best Western but very clean and the staff are extremely helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Our room was at the back so no view but I would imagine it's loads quieter than having a room overlooking the street. The bed was so comfy my hubby wanted to take it home with him. Continental breakfast good and a sufficient start to the day, Hard boiled eggs, cereal, yoghurt, ham, cheese, bread rolls, toast and sweet pastries. usual tea and coffee. We loved it here and will definitely be back again next year.

"Welcoming"
950Julie16, 02 Octobre 2017

We had booked this as we were only in Amsterdam for 2 nights and saw it was near to Dam Square and in the centre of town. After a long flight from home in Kenya, on our way to the UK, we had several bags. We arrived too early to check but the receptionist was very helpful, stored our bags, offered us coffee, and sent us off for breakfast and to return for 2pm. We returned to a very good and clean room. The position for walking was brilliant, down a back street so care needed on the cobbles, but would certainly return to this hotel if in Amsterdam again.

"Great location, Easy to get to!"
australiaman, 27 Septembre 2017

If you like being well located, this hotel is perfect. To access it, just catch a train from the airport to Amsterdam Central, follow the train station exit signs to "Central", walk straight down the street in front of the train station for about ten minutes, then use Google maps to pinpoint. You can also catch a tram from the station, number 5. It is located a very short 2 minute walk to Dam Square, and the tram stop near the hotel will give you access to the huge main museum and Van Gough Museum. Ride as much as you like for 24 hours for 7.5 Euro. The staff were welcoming and happy to assist you with information. Staff spoke English so communication was fine. The lady on the desk was friendly and had a good sense of humour. The ground floor room we had was small, clean and comfortable. You have to remember how well located you are in this hotel. My only concern was that the mattress was a little soft but it was ok for sleep. You may also get a bit of morning noise but that is your "alarm clock" to get you ready to explore. Some reviewers have complained about the "cold breakfast". Seriously get over yourself! Breakfast was fine. You are in Europe. There was plenty to eat. Cold meats, good ham. There was tasty cheese, breads, yoghurt, breakfast cereals, milk, juice, tea and coffee delivered to the table. I would take the breakfast offered in this hotel over any breakfast offered in the USA. Nice cake shop across the street. Climb the spiral staircase in the cake shop for a table with a view. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

"Stayed overnight after trip from Canada before boarding cruise ship next day."

A 5-minute walk from Amsterdam's main square where Royal Palace is. A very old part of the city with very narrow pedestrian streets with a lot of good restaurants and easy access to interesting places.

"Average "
R1TS, 24 Septembre 2017

This hotel has two main benefits 1) the staff. They are excellent at hospitality Zsoka/szoka at the front reception was delightful. Polite and friendly and helpful. Which is all you can ask for. 2) is the location. It is right on dam square which is a great starting point for anything you do in the city. Unfoetunslty the hotel is noisy at the front as a result. All I can say is stay here but guarantee a room that is not at or near the front. All manner of noises from late tourists to early morning cleaning / deliveries. The breakfast was slightly disappointing. But maybe hardly comparing to other European trips. It was basic. Toast, cereals, fruit Cold meats and cheeses etc. The rooms are basic in every sense. And beds were a bit uncomfortable. I would come back but only for the location and want a room that was quiet.

"Great place to stay in Amsterdam"
Scott W, 17 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for 2 nights. The location is very good although we had a little trouble finding it the first time. Breakfast was very nice and there were enough options. It is very close to everything and a nice place to stay.

"Sub-par experience"
Theroadwarrior12, 09 Septembre 2017

This hotel has a great location in the heart of Amsterdam's vibrant day and night scene. The property is in great need of refurbishing. My room was oddly configured with an angular bathroom that seemed like an afterthought. The room is small but typical of European hotels. The reception staff was less than enthusiastic. Soiled carpet and bedspread. For the rate I paid, I would shop around for my next visit. Best Western should inspect this property,

"Superb location for a City break....."
KDearing, 08 Septembre 2017

Whilst not a conventional Best Western hotel by UK or US standards it's fine for a short City break given its A1 location immediately off Dam Square. Try to avoid rooms at front of hotel if you plan to try to nod off before 0100hrs as it's a bit noisy. Rooms are adequate rather than spectacular, but comfortable nonetheless. Staff are helpful and informative, good level of customer service which is nice. Breakfast is very basic but just about adequate. All-in-all a good simple well- located comfortable hotel for sight-seeing in Amsterdam.

"Quick visit in Amsterdam."
LMC_Travels, 27 Août 2017

You are right downtown one block from the Dam Square and about 1/2 km from the Centraal station. This is a great location. The only issue I have is that though it says this hotel has A/C when you get in the elevator is when you find out that their A/C is a "top- down" system and it will only lower your room temperature by 6 degrees celsius. We were there in mid August and it did get warm there so the 6 degree a/c wasn't too helpful. The bathrooms were not very clean. There was a lot of mold in the shower and you saw it when you were in the shower. The be was comfortable and the room was quiet.

"Perfect central location and great value for money"
Marcianiseman, 27 Août 2017

Excellent three night stay in this superbly located hotel. Single room was very spacious compared to most hotels, with double bed , desk and armchair and good sized shower room. Breakfast ample , although no hot food available apart from boiled eggs. Room very clean and staff helpful and friendly . Very quiet considering it's central location . Would definitely book again . Highly recommended.

"For its Location"
Nony Z, 05 Août 2017

Everything is average, it is just for location; it can't be more central. The location is almost near everything and every major attraction is within walking distance. The central station is very near too within walking distance too. The price is good compared to other properties in expensive Amsterdam. For its location and price it can be said that it is good value for money. Good breakfast too.

"Great location"
Brendan H, 04 Août 2017

Great location - about a ten minute walk from Central Station. Situated on a side street which has a great atmosphere for sitting out and drinking coffee or for having a spot of lunch or dinner - restaurants are just a few steps away. Great shopping street just around the corner and Dam Square is 2 minutes walk away. From there you can get to all the main attractions and the scenic canal areas. I thought the breakfast was great - coffee was great too. I found one staff member particularly very helpful and friendly. All in all decent hotel in a very convenient location - there is nothing major to complain about.

"Excellent location else very average"
psibot, 22 Juillet 2017

The location is very central and most thing are just out of the door. Also staff is very friendly and helpful. The Rooms are average size okay else nothing one remembers. Oh yes one thing do remember is the any little leds TV, AC and so on there was quite a bunch of them when you go to sleep notice them. Breakfast was a big disppointment id nearly dare say it ist the minium you can offer without open rebellion. Also the constant beep beep beep in the breakfast area takes some getting used to and ticken me of at first. Reason seems to be some bread warmer in the kitchen and the door alarm from the entrance. Childern cant make there breakfast them selfs becuse the milk is in about 140 cm height and many children go for serials... Id recommend not to order breakst and try to have a nice one in the old city. There are lots of option near by. For lazy ones there a coffe offer the road. There is a entrance aera there you can wait and meet it is so small you quickly more out in the streets which offer pleasnat places to meet and can be seen from the reception. All in all id give 2 star if not for the friendly staff and good location which make it a 3+

"Good hotel to stay"
Elizabeth L, 22 Juillet 2017

Good location - near the bus station and near many of the main attractions They also served a Good breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a 20 - 25 minute walk to the Rijks and Van Gogh museum.

"Decent Tourist Hotel"
focusrx, 21 Juillet 2017

Great location, room on 3rd floor was very clean and no noise inside or outside the hotel Room although not luxurious was comfortable and a decent size but bathroom was tiny!! Simple but ample Dutch breakfast included. Did not appear to be many staff around but those we met were very helpful and friendly. For what we paid we were happy with our visit.

"A place to lay your head after a long flight"
Barbara P, 20 Juillet 2017

A disappointment. We have stayed in many Best Western hotels after flying to Europe. Usually you know that there will be a certain standard of excellence. Not this time. It is true that the hotel was spotless but our room was small and pokey, but it was quiet. There were lots of places to eat in the neighbourhood and the food was good. This was in contrast to the breakfast offered at the hotel. Meagre choice. I am sure you could find a better hotel for the night between flights.

"Can't beat the location"
Bluebaggers25, 19 Juillet 2017

Stayed four nights in late June with two other couples.Off the net we were looking for an inexpensive hotel in the heart of the city, off a main road. And this is what we found. It fitted our criteria perfectly. Sure there were some issues. I understand it has the slowest lift in Europe, the beds are so spongy you can roll off them and my toilet bowl was difficult to access (refer photograph). While dated, the our room was a good size, however one of our group's was quite small. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast room was adequate. It's beautifully located in a quirky pedestrian laneway right next door to a wonderful beer hall, is directly opposite a cute cafe which serves a great lunch and couldn't be closer to highly recommended restaurants. Within walking distance of Central Station, even with luggage. Well, we managed it!

"Best location that makes up for everything else"
TheWanderbee, 16 Juillet 2017

The primary reason for my booking this hotel was its location. It was right at Dam Square. The other reason was that this was the only hotel offering a double bed for single occupancy as well. The room was small, like the kind of rooms you would find in Manhattan but what else would one expect at the city center. Being a no-frills restaurant, the only staff available was at the reception, so don't expect any room service/housekeeping support. If you need something, you need to go and collect it from the reception yourself. Breakfast was nothing to boast of but it was decent. The receptionist who also set up breakfast served hot coffee and hot milk on request which was a delight. The receptionists were very helpful with any directions or queries we had. They also arranged a cab for airport drop. If you are looking for a clean room and only bed and breakfast, this is one of the best to go to. The shopping area, the trams, the RLD, the Central Station everything was just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The only thing to be cognizant of is that it is on a pedestrian only street. You will have to drag your luggage a bit to get to the hotel.

"Right in the Middle of Everything"
Rosanne112, 15 Juillet 2017

Great location within walking distance of just about every place we were interested in visiting in Amsterdam's city center. Transportation was near by (trams, buses, train). Grocery store, fast food, bars, and restaurants were within an easy walk. Tour office was at end of the pedestrian only street the hotel was located on. Staff members were helpful with every request I had starting with me sending an email asking for 2 rooms near each other in a quiet location. Unfortunately, my room had a stench that did not go away. (At first I thought it was food from the previous guest, but I was there for 6 nights. In retrospect, I think it was the sewer/plumbing.) When I checked in, there was a dirty Q-tip on the floor, thick dust on the TV, and no shower cap in the box left in the bathroom (the reasons for my 3 rating for cleanliness). My sister's room was fine. Lighting was odd in my bathroom as the ceiling light shined downward behind you as you stood at the mirror which made it difficult to see what you were doing as you put your make up on (particularly since I wear glasses). Breakfast was adequate; choice of cereals, yogurts, meats, breads, beverages. Bonus: pop machine served cans of Heineken. All in all, a pleasant stay.

"Could not fault the location"
Rivets1952, 12 Juillet 2017

This Hotel is perfectly located within the heart of Amsterdam and close to all of the attractions. Lift is very slow and the whole Hotel is showing its age but is still good value for money in an expensive city. A general facelift would benefit the place. Continental breakfast was all you could ask for. Counter staff very helpful and went out of their way to make you feel welcome.

"Very Nice Location"
Greg K, 08 Juillet 2017

We recently stayed here while spending a few days in Amsterdam. Overall we were satisfied with this hotel. The breakfast was continental style and was good with very good coffee. The staff was very good but lean. The lady working the front desk during the day seemed to be responsible for doing almost everything, including working the breakfast area. She was very nice and helpful, but I felt sorry for her having to do so many different tasks. The location was not far from the train station which was nice. Located right at Dam Square which was also nice. The room was ok, but was a little dated and the bathroom was quite small. Our room was on the first floor and had a strange smell to it. Some friends we were staying with had a strange smell in their room too and they asked to move to the second floor. They said the smell was fine up on the second floor. We were satisfied with our stay here, but if I came back to Amsterdam I would look around some before I stayed here again.

"good location"
kaelakimura, 06 Juillet 2017

everything is ok during my staying with family. the room is spacious compared to Europe hotel rooms. lights in the room not bright, dim light. breakfast is good. the staff are friendly and helpful. the hotel furniture is abit old and near to tram station.

"Convenient location, nice room"
USAwalkers, 05 Juillet 2017

Our group of 6 were in 3 rooms. All the rooms were nice. I thought ours was best because we had a view of the street. We stayed 3 nights. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful. A nice breakfast was served each morning. We used the in-room wifi and printed our boarding passes from their public computer. The hotel is located on a small street in the older section near the 17th century royal palace, Dam Square, and National Monument to World War II. We took a taxi from the airport and did not see the Best Western sign from the road, so there was a bit of confusion at first. The Ann Frank House and many restaurants are within walking distance.

"Affordable accommodation in the heart of Amsterdam"
21sharkbait, 02 Juillet 2017

We loved this hotel, great location, especially for the price we paid. It's not luxury but it was clean and somewhere to put our heads down. Breakfast was great lovely continental style with a selection of hams, cheeses and breads. Our room was front facing and occasionally we got a lovely aroma coming from the 'cafes' below..... would definitely stay there again.

"Center of Amsterdam"
Q6840RTtomc, 29 Juin 2017

The location of this hotel is great for seeing downtown Amsterdam. We walked to the hotel from the cruise terminal, and to and from the train station as well. The hotel is located a few steps from dam square, making it easy to walk and enjoy the sites and sounds of downtown Amsterdam..

"Poor desk service"
Richard H, 28 Juin 2017

There is more to a hotel than the room . We asked the front desk clerk to help us check in for our return flight. Big mistake. First the clerk told us we needed our passport numbers to get to the airline site. Not true. After fifteen minutes he finally got the check in site on his computer. But then he mistakenly checked that we were traveling with an infant. Not true. As a result, American Airlines would not issue us a boarding pass until we got to the gate. Spent two hours on the phone with AA and they said there was no way to change the erroneous data. This hotel needs to make sure the front desk staff is properly trained. The room was tiny. Shower is very tiny and can barely accommodate a normal size person. Outdated furnishings. Clean room, very comfortable bed, great location, a bit hard to find on a side street.

"Weekend away "
mizzidee, 25 Juin 2017

Had a great weekend in Amsterdam staying at Dam Square Inn. Great staff in reception. Hotel is near enough to most place 10 mins walk to the station but trams running constantly weekend passes really cheap too. Lovey English breakfast in the morning

"Just dont"
Midnightblue, 24 Juin 2017

Why would you stay here? I wanted somewhere close to the station, I wouldn't usually stay in a best western but the reviews suggested it was ok and I wasn't staying long, a late check in and leaving early. It was horrible, tiny room, old, smelly not welcoming at all. However the reception staff were very nice it was just the building and rooms that I didn't like. 10 min walk to the station.

"Hospitality at it's best!!"
Padmini15, 21 Juin 2017

This is one of the best reasonably priced hotels in Amsterdam.A 10 on 10 for it's location (right on Dam Square, the most happening place in Amsterdam) a 10 on 10 on their helpful n courteous behavior..we checked in at 2am but they were so polite n patient unlike other places, provided us with umbrellas when it was drizzling n of course a wonderful breakfast..if ever I go back to Amsterdam this is the place that I am going to stay for sure!!

"Very good pre cruise stay"
travelmuse1, 26 Mai 2017

We chose this hotel based on its location, its price, and its reviews. We were very pleased with our stay. We arrived early morning from a transatlantic flight, airport train ride, and a city tram ride to the hotel. We were able to find our way to the hotel with the instructions the hotel staff provided, supplemented with the maps.me application on my i-phone. The hotel is located on a pedestrian only street off Dam Square. There is a nice lobby with complimentary coffee and sitting area. We stored our luggage and off we were to meet our free 11:00 am Walking tour in Dam Square! This hotel has a nice elevator. The room was large and the bathroom large, too. We were given the Boots suite. I am not sure if it a higher category than what we paid for (a standard double) but it was, by all European standards, huge. The only downside was that you have to walk up about 5 steps to reach the door so you have to drag luggage up. Don't forget to pack a wash cloth if you use one since European hotels rarely provide them. I forgot to pack one this time. Be careful not to trip stepping over the doorway into the bathroom. Wifi was very good, too. Breakfast is served in a welcoming breakfast room off the lobby and had a nice selection of yogurts, fruit, cheeses, meat slices, hard boiled eggs, breads, cereals, juices, coffee, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at this property.

"Great value for money if you get a room for €199 or less"
fetscherin, 24 Mai 2017

Don't tell is perfectly located in the center of Amsterdam, about the 5 to 6 minute walk from the central station if you come by train, you can easily walk around the city center and find lots of bars and restaurants and shops at possibilities. However, also the rooms are clean and the beds are good, it's not the luxury hotel but do you have everything you need from free Internet, to a desk on the TV. It's a great value is paid less than €200 a night. Stuff it's a very nice.

"Great Location for visiting Amsterdam"
LNL71, 22 Mai 2017

We recently spent 3 nights here. The lobby is beautiful and the front desk staff excellent. They were very helpful in storing our bags upon our early arrival as well as giving us great directions to all the sights we had planned to see. The location of the hotel is amazing...small, small street, but within easy walking distance to just about everything. Anne Frank House and many canals, a very short walk away. I will say that the room was very large and had lots of storage space. The bed was a bit soft, but when you're tired from all that walking, it didn't make any difference. I do think the rooms could use a bit of a decoration upgrade but it was clean and suited our needs just fine. Another plus was the elevator! They also served a very nice breakfast with many selections. I would most certainly stay there again if I return to Amsterdam

"Good, outdated hotel in great location"
jodyc06, 18 Mai 2017

I couldn't have asked for a better location in the historic district of Amsterdam. Hotel is in desparate need of renovation, yet overheard that will be forthcoming. Pros: Location, location, location! Staff, most helpful and aims to please Great WiFi Room safe Adequate breakfast, could use a bit more variety with sliced/chopped fresh fruit Cons: Room design was odd, yet generally functional Room 229 was over street and very noisy (couldn't keep window open), even though I asked for a quiet room Hard pillows Very compact shower

"Great location"
Steve S, 15 Mai 2017

This is a great hotel in Adam Square. The price is extremely reasonable. You can't beat the location. The service is excellent. The rooms are clean as well. Breakfast isn't great but it is included in price of room. Step out of hotel and there are plenty of bars and cafes.

"Great location for Central Station/Pre-cruise"
TravelingGogo, 12 Mai 2017

I had a complimentary night with my Best Western rewards so I decided to use it in Amsterdam for a pre-cruise night. This hotel is located near all the action- in Dam Square and walking distance to Central Station (the station that drops you off from the airport if you take the train (which I recommend)). It is off on a side street that cars aren't allowed on so keep that in mind when looking for it. The staff was nice and professional, breakfast was good and stocked, and the room had everything you needed for a solid night's sleep. Stayed March 26, 2017

"Decent hotel at a convenient location"
BhutanIsHeaven, 08 Mai 2017

After travelling from Paris, where we stayed in a small room, this was huge. It's a standard Best Western - comfortable and business-like with the usual amenities and breakfast selection. It is located in the convenient Dam Square area accessible by several Trams. It is one tram stop away or a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Central. Several eateries and shop abound this area. The little street on which it stands is a bit deserted late at night, but looked safe enough.

"Great location."
Pam C, 07 Mai 2017

Recently stayed at this hotel. Fantastic location right at dam sq. close to everything. Breakfast good and do supply gluten free bread on request. Rooms basic with super comfy beds. We stayed over the weekend and had a room at the front of the building. It was a bit noisy with street noise so if that's going to bother you you might be best to request a room away from the street. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Great location"
Bill K, 06 Mai 2017

Moderate hotel in a great location in center of old town. Within walking distance of many tourist and trendy spots. Lots of cafes, pubs and shops nearby. Room was small but clean and adequate. Bed was super soft. Not to my liking but my wife thought it was great. Good breakfast included.

"Great Location, Hotel dated."
AlexOBrien, 04 Mai 2017

I stayed in the only suite which doesn't have a room number and I couldn't find, even the receptionist didn't know which floor it was on so came with me to find it. The facilities in the suite were somewhat lacking, plastic cups for tea and coffee, no toiletries. For a suite I expected more.

"Excellent Staff!! Excellent Location!"
Bordenbunch, 01 Mai 2017

I wasn't a fan of booking an "American Chain Hotel" in Amsterdam, but our Air B&B reservation fell apart and the Best Western Dam Square was centrally located and with in our budget and available during the extremely busy Easter week. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel had the feel of a small boutique hotel. The staff was amazingly friendly and the location was unbeatable. We had 4 rooms booked and each was a little different. Some had a bath tub, some had a shower. Be specific when making your reservation if you have a preference. The rooms facing the street were definitely loud from the street noise, but they seemed to be a little larger. Our room faced an inner courtyard and was very quiet at night. The beds were extremely comfortable! More so than those on the cruise we took following our stay in Amsterdam. The rooms were clean and comfortable and functional. The common areas were updated and pleasant. The breakfast was VERY GOOD and very hearty with an excellent selection of warm and cold items. The highlight of this hotel had to be it's warm and accommodating staff. A shout out to Danielle and Sonny, especially, who made sure that our stay was like being at home. They secured transportation, made restaurant reservations, got us museum tickets and spent time getting to know us and share their personal stories with us. It made our stay delightful! If you are looking for fancy .... upscale hotel ... this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a well located, homey feeling hotel that could use some updating, but is clean and functional, then this is a good choice! If you are arriving by vehicle ... the Best Western is on a pedestrian only street. We took the airport hotel shuttle and they were able to drop us within a block of the hotel - a very short walk even with our suitcases. It was also very nice to be within 1 block of the HUGE Albert Heijn grocery store and the Royal Palace, which was a great landmark for us to find our way back home after a day of exploring the city. A great stay in Amsterdam!!!

"Great value"
Alw656, 26 Avril 2017

This hotel was clean comfortable and ideally situated in the heart of Amsterdam just off Dam Square on a side street was very quiet no noise and with breakfast every morning which was continental but a good choice would definitely recommend and will revisit in the future the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly

"The staff members are all wonderful and the location can't be beat."
kkarge, 19 Avril 2017

I had previously stayed at this property in November 2009 when it was the Tulip Inn Dam Square. The place hadn't changed, like at all. In fact, it was the same person who checked us in 8 years ago. She was as nice and helpful as I had remembered. And talk about memories they all started rushing back to me when I pressed the elevator button. Oh my gosh this still has to be the slowest elevator ever! The room was on the top floor and was how would you say, quaint. Not in a bad way. Just in a, I wonder when they will throw a couple bucks at it and bring it into the 20th century, way (yes I realize that it is the 21st century, that what make it funny). However, I would have to say the room was functional. But it would have been nice to have a window that opened (room was stuffy even with the fan on) and maybe a minibar. Well anyhow there were two things about the room that I have yet to figure out. Why did my room (336) not have a light switch for the bathroom? Light was always on. And why was there was a motion detector that controlled the hallway light. So even if I was sitting on the bed and moved my leg the light would go on. Share nuisances to be sure but something they should consider changing. So why did I stay here again? The answer is rather simple. The staff members are all wonderful and the location can't be beat.

"Best Western Dam Square"
Jeff L, 16 Avril 2017

Have stayed her previously. Found it to be very centrally located in Amsterdam. Very good free breakfast. The staff has always been very friendly and can arrange a car to the airport which we used. You can walk to many restaurants but some of the ones in the area are not the highest quality. If you walk to the Jordan area you will find a better selection. I will be back in Amsterdam again in the future and will definitely stay here again. I have never had a problem in this area. Yes there are "coffee" shops down the alley way but have not had an issue while walking by any customers of these establishments.

"A pleasant Hotel in a great location"
Pete O, 13 Avril 2017

The Staff at Reception and at Breakfast were very helpful. The breakfast variety was fine and the staff kept the tea and coffee coming as required. The rooms were fine, OK, no great view out of our window but we were touring the 'views' all day anyway. The location of this hotel is also of great benefit

"Good location"
JLC580925, 10 Avril 2017

Recently spent 3 nights in this hotel, which is really well situated for nightlife and other attractions. The room was compact and the bathroom pretty small and a little dated. However, for a city trip I thought it represented good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful and the wifi was good. I would choose this hotel again.

"Wonderful 7 nights stay!"
Sequoia R, 09 Avril 2017

EZ 10 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal station. And that was on a busy Monday afternoon. EZ check in. All the cool Coffeeshops are within a 17 minute walk :-) Only stayed here for 7 nights but each night was a treat to our senses and we would hang along the canals and chill when chaos was too much. You know, space cakes always reward you with an adventurous walking trip! Museums on space cakes was a total sci-fi adventure and our Cheshire smiles would not leave our totally happy faces! At times, I know I was invisible (wore my cloaking device), other times I was the Joker and in sync with the environment! Breakfast buffet (7:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.) serves deli, fruits, various breads, juices, coffees but no hot breakfast. Hotel staff and workers were all exceptional in every way! People, hotel is 33 minute walk to the 3 top museums: Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, and , otherwise, you are a 6 minute walk to begin getting lost along the canals, 10 minute walk to the train station, unlimited Coffeeshops within 1 km from this hotel. We all have our favorites, including but not limited to Greenhouse Centrum, Bluebird, Coffeeshop the Stud, Dampkring, Boerejongens Coffeeshop Centre, Coffeeshop Club Media, Barney's but the closest is Kadinsky Coffeeshop - all XLNT vibes, also the Bulldog street for lots of out-of-towners. The Eye Film Museum is a nice 20 minute walk and fun free 4 minute boat ride from here. Everything is EZ walking from Dam Square :-) Takes me back to enjoying Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension movie when the stepbrothers enter a gloomy alternate universe controlled by an evil scientist... Remember, the evil scientist banned all things related to summer. Phineas and Ferb Summer song is pure bliss! Perry the Platypus shines! Do Vondelpark for pure relaxing bliss and only a 26 minute walk! Loved our time doing Amsterdam and this hotel was spot on. Now on fast train to Berlin for Easter (8 nights) fun!

"close to everywhere but nice and quiet"
jen1204, 07 Avril 2017

Just around 5 min walk from the bustle of Dam Square and 10 mins walk to Central Station so handy for everything. The hotel is nice, but lacks character and there are certainly others that you could find for similar money which would have felt less like a travellodge in the UK. The rooms were smallish, but that is to be expected in a city, but the main annoyance was that the bathroom did not have an extractor so trying to dry your hair after a shower or do makeup was impossible for at least 10 mins as you had to then open the door and let the steam out! Not the end of the world I know but just irritating when sharing with friends and both wanting to get ready quickly. The staff were very helpful, and they booked us a taxi to the airport in the morning as it was teaming down with rain. The breakfast was general continental, which was a good choice and enough. The rooms were very clean. So for a few nights if you want clean and comfy close to everything this is the hotel for you. If you want luxury or character then perhaps not.

"2nd Visit ... same like before."
taldebsi, 01 Avril 2017

Perfect location: 5 minutes from train station, 1 minute from Dam Square, staff were very friendly and helpful Bed was very comfortable. comfortably-sized room. Very basic breakfast. You can hear the voice of the people next room easily. Very old property, refreshments is a must . Free wifi

"Exceeded expectations."
prabideau, 29 Mars 2017

We stay at a Best Western whenever one is available. This one was a real nice, friendly, clean, great breakfast place to stay. The location right in the middle of Dam Square and a 10-15 minute walk from the train station can't be beat.

"Loved this Hotel"
JonathanS001, 29 Novembre 2016

What a great hotel So close to Dam Square and hidden in the side streets. The room are clean and warm. The continental breakfast is a good start to the day. Everyone is so friendly too. Don't miss it it is reasonably priced too xx

"Weekend break"
dabber27, 27 Novembre 2016

Just returned from a lovely break away. Hotel in great location, but rooms were in need of some revamping. (Windows were draughty) heating did work efficiently in our room. Staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was nice continental style. A nice bar next door, seed shop no problem. Our room was facing the street and we slept well with only odd noise from people going home after night out.

"Good Hotel Great Location "
Bashers44, 27 Novembre 2016

Stayed here for 2 nights 22-24 November. Couldn't find any fault. Fantastic location, our room was clean, en suite modern. Breakfast continental style but very good. Staff helpful and the lift was invaluable as we were on second floor. Price was excellent for location. Will definitely stay again .

"Good location"
Languso T, 17 Novembre 2016

The hotel is in a great location. Just next to the Dam Squire. Very close to central train station. The reception and personal are very kind and smiley. The rooms are old and the old windows can not stop the noise from the narrow street. Needs renovation especially in bathrooms. The breakfast is not full of assortments but the quality is ok. I wish to see more sort of cheese ( only one) in a cheese country...

"Great location but dated"
Alan C, 14 Novembre 2016

Fabulous location but rooms a bit smelly and dated. Quiet enough but really did not sleep well as the bed was so soft when you were in it was difficult to move. Simple breakfast was, however, excellent. The seed shop and canabis cafe were not a problem.

"In the heart of things but very basic hotel"
Lynn T, 05 Novembre 2016

Definitely in the heart of Amsterdam right off Dam Square. Room was quiet; however, felt 'cold'...not the temperature but the ambience of the place. Mattress was very soft. Breakfast was included and was as expected...basic but adequate. Staff were very helpful and no issue with service.

"Great wee hotel"
sandra s, 03 Novembre 2016

This is a great hotel right in the heart of everything but without any noise you can walk to anywhere in the city ten minutes from the train station staff were lovely and so helpful would go back love it

"Great location, okay hotel"
ghm1996, 02 Novembre 2016

Stayed for 2 nights. Choose this hotel because of the great location. When we arrived we left our luggage in the room behind reception although it wasn't actually locked just had the receptionist sitting by it. My boyfriend asked for the wifi code but the receptionist informed him that he could have it when we checked in. I was v disappointed at this!! Room was basic but all we needed. Pleased with the safe. A couple of annoying things - no mirror by the desk only in the entrance. As you entered the room there was an automatic light which was incredibly annoying! In order to use the mirror you needed to keep moving for the light to keep turning on. But the bathroom light you couldn't turn off! Breakfast was good had all we needed. Except for our first encounter all staff were very nice.

"Best Westen Dam Square"
Fortinbras, 01 Novembre 2016

The hotel was not as smart as its promotional images, with rather tired décor in accommodation areas. However, in an excellent location on an historic street with good amenities and transport links close by. Generally comfortable, although we though it very expensive compared to similar in other European cities, leaving aside the drop in value of sterling against the Euro!

"Convenient location"
steveD82, 23 Octobre 2016

We stayed as a group of 3 30-something men sharing a room for two nights. The cost was great given our limited budget. The location was fairly central and there was good access to the tram system. The room was comfortable and clean and the furniture functional. The bathroom felt a little dated and the shower pressure was low, something I'm not a fan of. The room had good sound proofing - this was appreciated as there was a very noisy fair on in Dam square. The staff were friendly and willing to help. There is also a free left luggage facility you can use if you arrive before your check-in time or have to wait for a flight on your final day. Breakfast was included in our package. The buffet included toast, pastries, cereal, cheeses, cured meats, fruit and yogurt. Tea and coffee were also available.

"Location is best feature"
Luv2travel_RS, 14 Octobre 2016

As many have stated, this place is very well located. You can walk to Dam square, train station, red-light district, Joordan district, canal boat cruises plus many shops and restaurants. Our room was small with 2 single beds pushed together. The beds are very soft so if you like a harder bed, go elsewhere. The hotel is fairly old and so is the carpet, furniture, etc. It was quiet for a good night's sleep. The room safe is larger than most other hotels. The bathroom was small with very little counter space. The shower is also small and the bathroom lights are not well located which makes for a dark room (light is behind you over the toilet rather than above the sink and mirror). Continental breakfast is included (mostly cereal, bread, yogurt, fruit and a few cold meats with cheese). The hotel is located on a pedestrian street so the taxi cannot bring you to the door. You'll need to walk about 100-150 ft. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful (one seemed to always be in a pissy mood and never smiled). Overall, a very average hotel but with excellent location.

"Great Value"
P44cka, 13 Octobre 2016

A well stablish d facility outside the city centre, but close to the tram stops. The rooms were excellent and breakfast provide a great start to the day. We picked a family room as they offered more space, something I would recommend.

"Great weekend"
User, 10 Octobre 2016

Stayed 2 nights with another couple for my partners 50th. Hotel location superb, central to everything, red light area, shopping street, madame tussaurds and just off dam square. We found the hotel within 5 minutes walk from centraal station. Receptionist lovely and pleasant, rooms superb breakfast very nice, lots of choice, toast, bread buns, ham cheese eggs fruit yoghurt cereal coffee and fresh juices. All in all a superb weekend in a great hotel will stay here again. Happy days.

"Location, location!"
Marilyn T, 02 Octobre 2016

Yes , as already posted the hotel is dated. If you want to go to a spa hotel best to book elsewhere. If you are looking for a clean bed to rest your head at night, ability to walk to almost everything, and a decent breakfast to start your day, this is the place! Staff is helpful and friendly and there is lots to do and see within a 6 minute walk!

"Very average and dated hotel"
GenaiC, 02 Octobre 2016

The hotels in Amsterdam are expensive and this one was no exception, however it was in a good location near Dam Square. Our room and the public areas were very dated but the biggest disappointed was the very uncomfortable and narrow bed. We were told there were no other beds or rooms available. Breakfast was extremely basic and I'm sure for the money you could find better.

"Too expensive for the service they offer"
jjcdiez1973, 28 Septembre 2016

I have to accept the type of service Best Western offers as standard and I accept it but to pay almost 400€ for 2 nights with that kind of room and bathroom plus the poor breakfast is more than I expected. I have to recognise that the location is great but Amsterdam is not such big city to pay that amount. I won't recommend it to my friends.

"Perfect Location"
B2012ZLlaurac, 28 Septembre 2016

very basic Hotel.. lovely beds.. great location ! would return again. at the center of the Dam Square. The staff are really helpful and know the best short cuts to get to places. Highly recommended tip is to book trips before travel ! esp Ann Franks house. queues on the day were about 3 hours long.

"Great location"
Will-hopps, 28 Septembre 2016

This hotel is in a great location. The Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Simple room but with everything you need, good views over the square. We would stay here again. Breakfast was good.

"Location Superb"
Kirsty W, 26 Septembre 2016

We stayed here on 4 day short break. This hotel is in the heart of the City, having said this our front street room was not effected by the outside noise. Breakfast was lovely... Continental and serving time till 10:30 am very relaxed. We would book this hotel again... the only downside if being picky would be is it feels a little tired but classic.

"Great location, hotel needs updating"
sthorf, 17 Septembre 2016

We stayed 2 nights. The location is very central and we were able to walk everywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was decent. The price was also reasonable. The hotel itself is tired, rooms are small (which was expected), air conditioning did not work enough to cool the small room (it was very hot the day we arrived) and there was black mold in the shower! The lighting is dingy and the common rooms need updating. We did notice new restrooms in the breakfast area, it's just that the whole hotel needs work. Hope that happens soon so that this hotel can reflect more of the BW brand.

"Quiet location right near the Square"
WhyteWind, 16 Septembre 2016

I am very picky about hotel locations and this was just perfect. It is a small street close to the Damrak- so easy to catch the tram and easy walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was a large front one with a view of the rear of the Niewe Kerk. It was very spacious if a little short on lamps at night. The front desk woman ( I wish I could remember your name!) was so friendly and genuine- Large comfortable bed, very nice bathroom- would definitely use again.

"Location location location"
Sandy255093, 15 Septembre 2016

Great young man at front desk who was helpful and knew all there needs to know about Amsterdam. rooms small and minimal luxury but the price is great and breakfast very nice. Beds a little soft for me. The location couldn't be better.

"Great location"
Dan T, 12 Septembre 2016

Located on a narrow side street in the middle of City Center this hotel provided the perfect location. The room was ok but the AC would not cool to a comfortable temperature. Breakfast was ok and the staff was helpful and friendly.

"Good central location"
Pauline N, 11 Septembre 2016

We stayed one night at the Damm Inn in August. We arrived before our two o'clock check in time but that was no problem. We were able to leave our luggage in a safe place before heading out. The hotel is central for all places we wanted to visit. The staff very were helpful telling us where to catch the tram and and what number we needed to get to the Heinekin Brewery. The bedrooms are a good size and clean, breakfast adequate. We would not hesitate to book here again on a return visit.

"Excellent location"
Louisa A, 10 Septembre 2016

Very nice hotel, excellent location very central, very clean hotel, the only downfall to our room was we had no view at all, our window was in the roof! Nice bathroom, Very friendly staff, Dutch breakfast very comfy beds

"Couldn't Stay In A Better Location"
Julie C, 10 Septembre 2016

Arrived and checked in was polite and quick. Location absolutely perfect!! Our room was great, we had one that looked out onto the street below, which was fun to see and hear people, don't let this put you off though, as there was no problem getting a good nights sleep. Rooms were very clean and modern. Elevators are provided. Breakfast is of good quality and more than enough to get you ready for a fun filled day out.

"2 days in Amsterdam"
frenchmade7777, 31 Août 2016

We had a lovely stay at the BW near Dam Square in Amsterdam even tho it rain the day of our arrival,we visited the town using the Hop on Hop off bus& boat, this was very helpful to get around & the stops were near the town attractions, the next day we took an enchanted tour with Viacom tours that was fun & well planned & with visited the Windmills,a wooden shoes shop,a cheese factory, the lovely fishing village of Volendam, the city of Delf with the magnificent blue pottery ,the N.A.T.O. town of La Hage & finally the un believable miniature city of Madurodam where all buildings & monuments are 1/125 scale just a place to stop to be amaze & peaceful child friendly environment .It was a great day all around for 8 1/2 hours to explore the Netherland, then the next morning we make way by cab to catch our cruise ship the Azamaza Quest.

"Ideal location from which to reach the best of Amsterdam"
Kurt W, 30 Août 2016

We recently spent five nights at the Best Western Dam Square Inn in Amsterdam. While the choice had a good deal to do with the fact that we were able to convert American Express points to Best Western certificates to cover most of the stay, the hotel proved to be a perfect jumping off point for all that we wanted to do in Amsterdam. Located on a tiny pedestrian street behind the Royal Palace and Nieuwe Kerk just off Dam Square, the hotel is located in a converted brewery and photos of the building's original use are hung with pride on a wall in the lobby. There's a well appointed breakfast room on the street level and then 4 floors of guest rooms above. We were given a first floor (2nd floor to Americans) room overlooking a side alley and had a view into the dormers of the building across the way, almost close enough to touch. Fortunately, there wasn't much noise and, because Amsterdam was having an unusual heat wave, we were able to keep the windows closed and enjoy the plentiful air conditioning. The room was fairly large for a hotel in such a central location and the bathroom had a stall shower with a glass partition. With a generous closet, we were able to unpack our suitcases for the first time in our three-city two-week trip which was a big bonus. The hallways could use some upgrading, but weren't dirty or unkempt, just a little worn around the edges. Then again, how much time do you spend in the hallway?!? The two front desk clerks we encountered were very pleasant and helpful with city maps and directions and even called us a cab to take us to the airport on our last day. While we didn't actually pay cash for most of our stay, the online rate I was able to confirm directly with Best Western was 179 Euro (approx. $200) per night which included an ample breakfast buffet of cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, juice and either coffee or tea. On another trip to Amsterdam we would definitely return to the Best Western Dam Square Inn.

"Good location for short stay only"
Quietcreek, 28 Août 2016

Located on a short walk to the Centraal terminal very convenient for catching the train or for a 20min to the airport but that's about it. The hotel has seen better days and their free breakfast is almost nothing.

"Central location for tourists."
angelac542016, 24 Août 2016

This hotel was a great location for walking for most tourist locations. The staff were very helpful. Room was comfortable although were a bit tired looking and could do with updating. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Considering how central it was we didn't notice any noise in the evening in our room. Good value for money.

"Liked the location - The accomodation was poor"
Hearthstone1, 15 Août 2016

A busy Saturday in mid-summer - hard to get a room for 1 night pre-cruise. Good location on a relatively quiet street near Dam Square. The room (Q) was on the ground floor - felt like it was in the basement! - poor, very tight washroom - gloomy. Tried to swap out the room but hotel was fully booked. At $275 (USD) for the night - a huge disappointment! Very basic at best.

"Perfect for what we needed"
CEM1989, 12 Août 2016

Perfect location just off Dam square although could get a little noisy at times (room overlooking Gravennstraat) but no bother. Room was perfect for what we needed. Spacious and clean with lovely bathroom. Staff so lovely and helpful. Breakfast inc. just what we needed before a day of exploring.

"Nice quiet room in the middle of the crazy..."
Jason M, 29 Juillet 2016

What do you want? It's a Best Western. It's in Amsterdam. You get decent quality in the heart of the 'Dam. Nothing special. Nothing terrible. Competent hotel management, clean sheets, decent breakfast (nothing special), and enjoy the neighborhood.

"Cannot go wrong with a Best Western"
mdeblasi, 26 Juillet 2016

I moved to this hotel from my previous horrible place. The Best Western was great, clean, spacious and in the centre of all the action. And a walk away from the nightlife if you want to go out at night.

"Excellent place to stay in Amsterdam"
Rgr1085, 23 Juillet 2016

Close to Central Station and close to 2 tram lines. We visited many attractions by walking or by easy tram access to all key sites in the city. Room was decent size for Europe and clean and practical. Would stay again when returning to Amsterdam. Staff assistance was superior.

"Excellent location, great place and staff"
Bill B, 17 Juillet 2016

When we booked we asked if we could check in early because we arrived about 9:30 AM and we were told they would try but no guarantee. When we arrived, thinking we would just be checking our bags, they checked us in and gave us our room. Great service then and the desk clerks were helpful throughout our stay. Location is excellent in the Centrum on a no driving narrow street just a block from the square and we had a short walk with our bags from the taxi. The hotel is very quiet and the room was very comfortable. Very good breakfast also. We would definitely stay here again.

"Crazy Amsterdam"
Steve B, 14 Juillet 2016

We stayed in this out of the way motel in May 2016, it was slightly hard to find amongst the back streets, but once you had your bearings it was all good. It's in great location walkable everywhere, only 12 min walk to the train station. The rooms are excellent, bathroom is spacious. The breakfast was ok, little average considering the overall motel.

"Location...location...location"
LWBusDriver, 11 Juillet 2016

This was not a fancy hotel. It was, however, in an awesome location. Right in the middle of Dam Square. Close to where you want to be. The room was clean and quiet. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. A nice breakfast buffet. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a taste of Amsterdam.

"Really good position"
tina112015, 10 Juillet 2016

. Great hotel once you find it ! Clean and comfortable, very soft bed, helpful friendly staff! Really good breakfast. We would stay here again, found it central for everything. About 15 minutes walk from station.

"Great location and price!"
venisonking, 06 Juillet 2016

We booked this hotel way in advance due to the price and I am a BW loyalty member. Location is within walking distance to the train station...just make sure to walk out the front and you just have to basically walk straight to the hotel...its about a 10min walk. The hotel is off a side street and there are many restaurants around there. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. She end up giving us a larger room since we had alot of big luggage (went on cruise). Its within walking distance to many of the attractions. But only complaint is the cannabis smell in the city...it gets in your hair and that's all you smell. You can't smoke in the hotel, but we had the window open and of course thats what you smell. The breakfast was good and enough to start your day...except they run out of food quickly because most come down at the same time. The hotel has free wifi and will keep you luggage while you explore the city.

"Long trip"
Dawn F, 06 Juillet 2016

This hotel is not on a car street, it is down a walking street. Receptionist is very helpful and the rooms are very comfy howrver double veds is 2 singles pushed together with single bedding on. Beds very soft and depending on which room you get to wether you get a window looking into your room from another building.

"Excellent"
Oco963, 27 Juin 2016

We stayed in Best Western Dam Square Inn for 4 days. The hotel is located in Dam Square and so close to the main attractions. Also, the tram stops are so close to the hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We are a couple with an infant. We were provided a baby bed. The room is enough big and very clean. Breakfast was included and enough. Free wifi worked very well. We love the hotel, especially staff and its convenient location. We're so happy to stay there and if we visit to Amsterdam again, Best Western Dam Square Inn will be our first choice. Thanks!

"Good Location is the Best Feature"
michael n, 23 Juin 2016

The hotel is pretty average other than the location. The room was functional, average European but small by most standards. Breakfast was OK but more on the continental side. Wifi was pretty good and that's a big thing for me on biz trips.

"3-day stay in Amsterdam"
Alabamagirl47, 20 Juin 2016

The location to city center is fabulous. Taxis can not go down ally to drop off luggage though. plenty of places around to eat. close to tour venues. Breakfast is included. Has an elevator. The rooms were clean and substantial. The showers were hot and large. A very nice place to come back to after a day of site-seeing. It has a small bar in lobby, but hotel is very quiet.

"Great Location at a reasonable price"
Wetravelalot12, 19 Juin 2016

This hotel is in the perfect location. Down a side street off Dam Square. The reception staff are really friendly. Continental Breakfast was included. The rooms were a bit tired and dated, but very clean. For the price compared to some of the other hotels in the same area, this was very reasonable. I would stay here again.

"Good location, amazing bed, big room"
xxLaniexx, 07 Juin 2016

The location is perfect. Situated on the Dam Square. A short walk from all the major city attractions. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The room was very spacious. Slightly dated but was perfect for us. Very big comfy beds. We slept very well. The continental breakfast was a very nice added extra. I was definitely return to this hotel and it was great value for money with all considered.

"Adult break"
ajjscottie, 02 Juin 2016

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and tidy hotel. Rooms spacious and again very clean. Even though we only stayed for 2 nights the maid came in. Breakfast was continental and thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely recommend you stay here if you want to be central for everything

"Hotel and surroundings"
Martin C, 02 Juin 2016

Very nice hotel and great central location for all tourist bits. Visited Heineken experience, Ann Frank house, Ice Bar, Canal Cruise, Sex museum all of which seemed good value for money. Hotel is only 5 minutes from the red light which was very busy with a great vibe and mix of people. Hired bikes for 3 hours for as little as 8 euro each which was a quick and easy way to see the wider outskirts of the town.

"value for money"
oritdan, 01 Juin 2016

I stayed a week in the hotel and enjoyed my stay very much. The location was good, in a lovely street off the main road, walking distance from the train station which we took every day. The rooms were comforatable, the breakfast fair, the staff helpful and the price reasonable ( for Amsterdam) if booked early- as we did. It was near Kalverstraat for shopping and close to many good restaurants.

"Great location"
Bruce W, 27 Mai 2016

Great location, less than 100 yards from Dam Square. Room was very clean. Excellent value for its location. Great service and staff, reasonably good breakfast. Shower was small, sink area was extremely small. I was on top floor, and the only window was a semi-skylight that afforded a view of only the sky. Bed was so-so; very soft.

"Great location, helpful staff"
listonliz, 23 Mai 2016

Did initially have some difficulty finding the hotel but that certainly wasn't the only time we got lost in Amsterdam! Rooms are fairly small and quite basic but the staff are very approachable and helpful. We loved being located so centrally. Would definitely stay again

"Central location and very quiet"
sian r, 20 Mai 2016

We stayed with friends for four nights. Excellent location brilliant staff and really good quest rooms. An easy walk from the central rail station and prime location for bars restaurants and sights we would certainly come again.

"A quite gem in the heart of Amsterdam"
DVSLAWYER, 17 Mai 2016

The Best Western Dam Square is close to everything in Amsterdam and yet it is hidden away on a pedestrian walkway next to Dam Square. You can open your windows and not hear traffic. Out room faced a wonderful small café across the street. The hotel is small and is a picture perfect place to stay and the staff are outstanding. The rooms are a little small but that is standard in small inner city hotels in Europe. Our bathroom was very modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the comforter very cozy. Our breakfast was included and was very good with plenty of variety. The price was very reasonable. When I come back to Amsterdam I we will stay at this hotel again! So lets keep this hotel a secret.

"Not Good"
Judith M, 16 Mai 2016

Not quite Dam Square and a it tricky to find, but good central position nonetheless, with helpful receptionist, comfortable bed, adequate breakfast, and good free Wi-Fi. However this hotel is very gloomy and shabby. Corridors are soulless, and our room looked out over a central glass roofed area which was scruffy and unkempt. Bathroom sink was stained and other than the breakfast room, the whole place is in urgent need of an upgrade. There are better hotels in Amsterdam.

"Well located, basic hotel with friendly service"
Awala2000, 15 Mai 2016

The Best Western Dam Square Inn is perfectly located in the centre of Amsterdam. Nearly everything is in walking distance. It is located in a small side street which is for pedestrians only, so watch out if you come by taxi. I had a room on the third floor towards a small court yard. View isn't really nice, but the room was very quiet, hence off the busy road. Rooms are a bid basic and would require maybe some renovation. However bed are very nice with good sleep comfort. Overall a simple hotel, centrally located with good service, however not cheap.

"Family Trip"
Danny K, 06 Mai 2016

Initially found this hotel hard to find on the Ground but its behind the Church in the Corner of Dam Square we walked there from central station 5/10 minutes and there is a tram stop 2 minutes from the hotel. Stayed in a Triple Room Very clean usable and quiet with an excellent Breakfast and friendly staff. Its nice.

"Nice cozy hotel in the most perfect location !"
AnannyaDatta, 25 Avril 2016

We stayed here for a night on 22nd April. The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, clean, peaceful and spacious. Wifi was excellent. Breakfast was standard but good. The best part is the location. Its very near to the Central Station and stone throw away from Dam sqaure and all the activity, shops and restaurants. Only problem was the shower, the water pressure was very weak.

"Suitable for a short stay"
Ben L, 24 Avril 2016

Had one night here. Walking distance from central train station and not far from bars/restaurants etc. Clean, no frills hotel that is one of the more affordable in this area. Main strength is the location but it is relatively good value.

"Nice stay!"
Jacqui G, 23 Avril 2016

After reading a lot of hotel reviews we were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. We stayed in a triple which consisted of two double beds side by side and a Murphy bed..The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was enough to get us through the day.. Great location. Easy to get everywhere from this hotel.!

"The nicest personal, the best stay in Amsterdam!!!!"
Satch P, 22 Avril 2016

My husband always booked this hotel when he was in Amsterdam. On his last trip there we were together. When we arrived, I got feeling like come home. Helpful personal always ready to help.Location is perfect for exploring the city. Rooms are nice and roomie and personal very helpful. During our trip I lost my partner, and personal were really supportive and help me get through the worst time in my life. Will stay there again on my next trip to Amsterdam for sure. Would love to thanks again all employees to be human first.

"Very Nice and Great location"
joe f, 21 Avril 2016

Location was excellent just a short walk to the train station or pier if you are cruising. Room was clean, shower hot and comfortable beds. Nice breakfast to start your day. Front desk very helpful and answered all our questions.

"Wonderful"
Brainolog, 16 Avril 2016

We were there for a short trip last week .. The location is perfect just a few steps from Dam square.. We stayed in a 3 bed room which was quite sufficiently big. The breakfast was richer than most places in Europe and the staff was really very friendly and helpful.

"Quiet hotel"
jayemdee116, 16 Avril 2016

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel for a short break. It was a quiet hotel in a busy central location. The room was overlooking an internal courtyard, which meant there was no street noise. There was good access to trams, buses and the main railway station. Very helpful friendly staff

"perfect stay for 3 nights! "
natashajanex, 09 Avril 2016

myself and my partner attended a festival in Malta and decided to end our holiday in Amsterdam (our favourite place!). we were both so pleased with this hotel- we arrived early and they let us check in straight away as our room was ready. the location is perfect and in the centre of Dam Square which is great! the room was nice, the beds were amazingly comfy and the bathroom was clean. the room was cleaned daily along with fresh towels. the staff were so friendly and helpful, and arranged an airport transfer to come and pick us up at the end of our stay. we also requested a late checkout which they allowed us to do. unfortunately we never made it down for breakfast (the beds were too comfy to get up from!!) so can't comment on that. overall we enjoyed our stay very much, and would 100% definitely stay here again!

"Perfect location"
Laura S, 03 Avril 2016

The hotel is in a perfect location right in the centre of the city so is ideal for getting to the various attractions. However the hotel was lacking in quality. The rooms were very basic and looked very run down. There were marks on the bed sheets and walls and although the hotel is non-smoking there was definitley some smoking going on. Breakfast was very limited, would have expected some pastries with the continental but there were just cereal, bread and meats available. The staff however were very helpful and friendly always happy to help and give suggestions. The hotel is ideal for those wanting to be near the centre but not good if you're looking for a little bit of luxury to relax after a day of walking.

"Location but not quality"
Alex_Fox_27, 02 Avril 2016

The hotel is close to attractions but the rooms were old and in need of renovations. Also there were no views overlooking the streets, only an ugly central area. The best western apollo is much nicer and cheaper even though it is further away...

"Perfect location"
kristie c, 25 Mars 2016

Perfect location close to everything central. Clean hotel towels replaced. Will return again. Lady working in the day (forgot the name) was very polite. Provided map of Amsterdam which was helpful as we hadn't been before. Close to shops and restaurants. 20 second walk to dam square.

"Very Good Hotel in a great location"
nashvillewalker2016, 19 Mars 2016

We booked a five day stay at this hotel through Expedia. Took the train from Schipol Airport to Centraal Station and walked to the Best Western (about 10 minutes). We arrived at the hotel around 12:30 PM, but could not get into our room until the required 2 PM check-in time. We were able to leave our luggage in a storage closet at the front desk until check-in time. Our room was number 330 which was at the back of the building. Our room was very quiet and adequate, size wise. We had a twin bed room. Storage was limited to one wardrobe closet. For an old building in central Amsterdam, our bathroom was reasonably sized. Each morning we took advantage of the free breakfast. By the second morning, the hotel staff was familiar with our hot drink choices. We found the hotel staff to be friendly and professional. The location of this hotel was just right for the sightseeing we planned during this trip. Would stay here again the next time we visit Amsterdam.

"Very comfortable room. Safe and secure."
happymom2008, 18 Mars 2016

Fantastic location within a few minutes walk to Dam Square. Place to eat and shop adjacent to hotel. Access to trams easy. About a 10 minute walk, straight shot from Centraal Station. Room was clean, fresh towels daily. Free and most generous breakfast.

"Peaceful hotel"
robbienelson4, 18 Mars 2016

Very clean hotel right around the corner from dam square and beside huge shopping street. Really quiet and peaceful hotel with very clean neat but small which makes it very comfortable. Continental breakfast in the morning was very standard but nice.

"Good location, could do with some TLC"
Mark R, 17 Mars 2016

Very handy location for central Amsterdam - a few seconds' walk from Dam Square, 10 minutes from Centraal Station. The hotel is a little shabby and could do with a facelift. Good continental breakfast buffet.

"Good hotel in a great location"
Stuart D, 15 Mars 2016

Very helpful and friendly staff, with bigger than average rooms for Amsterdam. The hotel is a 10 minute from from the Central Station, and close to restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops and canals. The location makes it an ideal base for a trip to Amsterdam

"Good location & nice hotel"
Casey C, 08 Mars 2016

Our room was always clean, warm and we were given fresh towels every day. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. The location of the hotel was perfect for getting around the city, and was roughly 50 Euro in a taxi from the airport.

"WINTER IN AMSTERDAM"
nigelbeere46, 08 Mars 2016

Location, location, location ! Just a few seconds from the centre of everything,Dam Square. The hotel was clean, fresh and warm, which was required at this time of year. The Continental breakfast was more than adequate and the staff put themselves out to be be helpful and pleasant..Despite the closeness to city life the rooms were quiet and comfortable. We have already advised our daughters to go there at a future date.

"Excellent hotel "
Dorina M, 06 Mars 2016

We loved the room Very clean The staff is very friendly Good breakfast Most important -lift ! This is our first time in Amsterdam We had a positive experience -first of all thanks to best western . ????????????????????????????????

"Good location"
HarryR32, 03 Mars 2016

Great base and location to explore the city. The triple room was a bit shabby/dated and quite small for three people, but the bathroom was clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast was a little disappointing, with not much on offer we felt, but you are so close to lots of cafes and restaurants it's easy to eat out.

"Avoid this hotel "
ParvinderSingh, 02 Mars 2016

Stayed here on business. Terrible hotel. Got fooled by 4 rating on trip advisor. Whole hotel including my room stinkes of cigarette and weed when it was a non smoking room. Only thing going for this is good location but there are many other near by hotels which are much better

"Perfect location"
Charliecaroli59, 26 Février 2016

We stayed here for three nights - able to check into our room even though we were 3 hours early. Room could have been a bit cleaner - stains on carpets and things under the bed and with the windows being old they were single glazed and quite draughty, but having said that the bed was really comfy and the shower was good. No cooked breakfast - which my husband likes, but plenty of choice otherwise. The hotel is in a perfect location just round the corner from Dam Square, with plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

"Ideal hotel for a short break"
Carole_57lan, 26 Février 2016

Stayed here for three nights. Arrived early but room ready so we could check in. Staff really helpful and friendly. Room was perhaps not as clean as it could have been - stains on carpet cups under the bed and with the windows being old and single glazed they were quite draughty. No cooked breakfast but there was still a good choice. The location is excellent and we would definitely stay here again.

"Always use this hotel"
nao01, 23 Février 2016

This is the second time I have stayed here for a long weekend. Zosha and Dawn (lady with curly hair) on reception are fabulous ladies and always willing to help and give directions etc. Breakfast is continental and more than enough to fill a gap. Rooms are clean, some of the carpet and wall paper is somewhat dated but kept well and beds and facilities In the rooms are good. Overall great location central to the nicer areas of the city, and for you to explore. would highly recommend.

"Amazing for the price."
CMSpriggs, 15 Février 2016

Pros: Perfect location (central and close to everything). Very clean. Room tidied every day. Friendly and helpful staff. Staff ordered flowers for my gf on Valentines day for when we arrived to our room. Cons: Windows are old and single glazed so you can here drunk people on the street down below as if they were in the same room as you all night long so sleep is impossible. No cooked breakfast. Only cereals, fruits and bread available.

"Stay at Best Western Dam Square Inn February 2016"
moira s, 09 Février 2016

We stayed in the Best Western Dam Square Inn for 2 nights at the beginning of February 2016. The hotel was immaculately clean and our room was very comfortable. We didn't face the front of the hotel so can't comment on any noise or anything from that aspect. Our room was certainly big enough as was the bathroom. Shower was good and plenty of hot water. There have been previous comments regarding the plastic cups for coffee/tea but personally we didn't find any problem with this. The staff were all excellent and exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The hotel has a brilliant location and is quite simply 10 minutes walk from Centraal Station. Plenty of eating places around the area, prices vary greatly. Overall, if went back to Amsterdam would have no hesitation in staying here again.

"Will stay here again when visiting Amsterdam "
Margaret F, 25 Janvier 2016

Location is the key to city breaks - and personally I don't think there's a better location than this. Just off Dam Square, but very quiet, surprisingly. I write this at 11pm with the window open and not a sound from the narrow alleyway beneath our room , number 112. Such comfortable beds and helpful staff , breakfast has enough choices and some nice touches like lots of different fruit teas, two kinds of granola , usual cereals , bread for toasting and honey , jam etc etc. Cold meats and cheeses , yogurts , what's not to like ? Perfect for exploring on foot with all the tourist sights nearby . I've stayed in two other hotels in Amsterdam but this is without doubt the best choice for a short break .

"In the Heart of Town and Very Cosy"
Pam V, 24 Janvier 2016

This hotel is in a wonderful location. We were able to walk from Central Station with our suitcases no problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English fluently. The breakfast was continental and nicely set up in a lovely room with plenty of choices for everyone. The room that we had was a little on the small side but we were only staying 4 nights so we managed. Other people in our party had larger rooms so maybe check on the room sizes when booking to get a bigger room. But as far as location is concerned you could not get better it was right in the heart of things and so accessible trams a few meters away and the main shopping areas very close by. I would definitely stay here again.

"Average hotel in great location"
William596, 22 Janvier 2016

We enjoyed a 2-night mid-week January '16 stay in Best Western Dam Square. Undoubtedly, its best feature is its location hardly a 1-minute walk to Dam Square. The hotel decor is tired throughout and the rooms in good need of a lick of paint. Our room was a little on the small side though sleep quality was suprisingly good. Hotel was consistently warm and comfortable given the sub-zero temperatures outside. Breakfast was cold continental self-service style though met our needs. We paid reasonable price given the time of year but would expect prices to rise in high season! Hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating. There are surely better hotels out there but this Best Western did the trick for us.

"Great location"
sueblue5, 12 Janvier 2016

I stayed in this hotel in January a Sunday-Tuesday break. We arrived about 12 but could not check in until 2 so the bags were left in the luggage room. The room was a reasonable size as was the bathroom although the toilet seemed to be wedged in the corner. The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet and we heard no noise from other rooms or outside. Breakfast was cold buffet and usual foods. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was quite dark as limited light as the window looked onto other rooms a sort of mini courtyard - it was not helped by the dark furniture and carpet - that said we didn't spend too much time there. Being ultra critical I think it a bit off to give small plastic cups and spoons when you have a kettle and tea and coffee. The bath towels too were on the small side! I would stay here again as the location was perfect.

"Best birthday weekend away"
StephanieLee20, 06 Janvier 2016

My partner booked this hotel for 3 nights over the halloween weekend for my birthday. The hotel is in an excellent central location only a few steps away from Dam Square and just a short walk from Central Station. The hotel is lovely and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. We were in a room at the back of the hotel on the top floor so perfectly quiet at night.

"Great"
jdp12345, 01 Janvier 2016

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Brilliant location, close enough to the square, but not too close to get all the noise and congestion. Room was cosy and staff were pleasant! Would definitely stay here again.

"Location!"
wishwellingtons, 29 Décembre 2015

Pros: located in dam square very central to most main attractions. Great service by all staff members. Included breakfast was delicious and very filling. Cons: this is an old building with small rooms. The bathroom is so tiny it is almost unusuable. All of the beds seem to be made from smaller beds pushed together. Overall we enjoyed our stay as a nice place to rest our heads.

"Good hotel, in great location"
Travelinstyle2014, 15 Décembre 2015

We loved our room in the heart of Amsterdam. Staff was very nice and helpful, and helped in fixing a booking error. Breakfast was a bit loose, comparing with other places, but it was clean, and fresh. Crisp clean bedding, and linen. Room spacious, but tiny bathroom. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. A big plus: you can actually use elevator, so no steep stairs, as many small hotels.

"Paying for location "
Hooliethetraveller, 15 Décembre 2015

I booked this hotel for my boyfriends 30th birthday. It was the best hotel I had found that was in central Amsterdam and that I could afford at the time. For two nights from Friday to Sunday I paid £200+. Initially when I saw our bedroom I was very disappointed. It didn't look like the pictures. We were on the top floor so that meant our window was on the ceiling. It looked dark and more like a budget hotel. We couldn't ever get the room temperature to be ideal. It was either way too hot or way too cold. I also paid for a double bed and was given a twin bed. After we roamed around the city I then realised that our hotel was in a perfect location. It's opposite a really cool coffee, pizza and cake shop. Plus less than 2mins walk away from the Main Street where shops are (forgotten the name of the road). Overall, excellent location but not so great hotel rooms. Your basically paying for the location. Breakfast was bland. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

"Location, Location, Location"
KLS2602, 15 Décembre 2015

This hotel is in a great location. I arrived by train and was able to walk there with my luggage from Centraal station, and it was easy to find. It is about 1km from Museumplein so I could walk or catch a tram. It is also close to shopping, other tourist attractions and the red light district. The hotel is comfortable, I had a corner room on the second floor. It was a nice room with exposed beams and comfortable beds. My only complaint was that there was not enough light in the room, no overhead lights, only lamps. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a simple affair, but the coffee was fresh.

"Great improvements in one year!"
JoninaMaria, 06 Décembre 2015

I stayed at this hotel summer of 1914 and was not impressed. Many things needed improvements then. But now I have been back and to my surprise, the hotel has improved so much in many aspects, including service and appearance. Don't know what happened but wish to congratulate them. Got clean medium large room with plenty of space, comfortable bed, good desk for working, fast free WiFi (even if it needed renewal of password each day), good TV, bathroom fine, good towels. Lobby looks much better, including lights, service in lobby excellent. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of fresh breads. Service at breakfast good and I always got a greeting and smile, when they were bringing my coffee. Even the street had improved. Recommend a restaurant next door. Only complain, a bit of noise from other guests in hallway. Great location for sightseeing and especially for shopping. Close to everything. Good value. Would recommend and stay again.

"Fantastic Location"
LJG27, 05 Décembre 2015

We recently stayed at Best Western Dam Square in Amsterdam. What a great location. Staff were very helpful and friendly and extremely accommodating when we arrived at 8.30am to checkin. They offered coffee and found us a room that we Gould have by 9.30. Rooms are a little dated and could use an upgrade. Also, anyone coming or going close by your room is heard through the thin walls.

"Location & staff, fantastic"
mesco, 03 Décembre 2015

Stayed here this week for 3 nights, location & staff wonderful. Couldnt ask for a better location, as within walking distance of all the main areas. Less than 10 minutes from central station & seconds walk from Dam square. We were 3 people to one room but had ample space & the room was quiet & warm. Tea/coffee facilities also in the room. Lovely comfortable beds too. Breakfast in continental but was plentiful & great selection of lovely fresh breads, cereals, juices etc. Great free wifi, plenty of maps in reception & nice little area in reception to sit & have a coffee. Hotel surrounded by restaurants, cafes & shops. Really couldn't fault this hotel for the staff & the location. Would stay here again.

"Amsterdam break for 2"
Dave B, 03 Décembre 2015

Good central location making access to museums, resteraunts, bars and shopping easily accessible. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were basic but clean and more than adaquate for a short break.

"Comfortable hotel center of town"
oldfoggyMaryland, 27 Novembre 2015

We had a very comfortable, quiet room with a large bathroom. Nice breakfast too. The hotel is tucked away just off Dam Square the center of Amsterdam. Could be little hard to locate. Could have used better selection of English channels on TV. Staff was pleasant and helpful Easy walk to train station.

"I would stay there again"
Alan L, 21 Novembre 2015

Good experience. The hotel is clean and the complementary breakfast is a nice plus. If you're looking for something hot other than toast, you'll have to go elsewhere, but it worked for me every day. Great location, and an easy 10-minute walk from Centraal Station down a pedestrian-friendly street. Hotel staff was excellent, the room was comfortable, and the free wifi worked.

"Perfect Location"
robinhe, 06 Novembre 2015

As the name suggests, the hotel is very close (50 m or less) to the Dam Square, but hidden in a small back street. It's a perfect base for exploring. Everything from the Red light district to the Van Gogh museum is in walking distance. Don't expect much more than a comfortable room at the hotel. There is a breakfast room, but no other restaurant - but there are so many restaurants nearby that that's not a problem.

"Great location. Not the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in."
Blofeldt, 06 Novembre 2015

The location is perfect in many respects. Just off Dam Sq which, if you've ever been to Amsterdam before, you'll know is a pretty good part of Amsterdam to be in. Contrary to some of the reviews, I found the staff at the front desk very friendly and helpful. I arrived very early and although my room wasn't ready, I was checked in, luggage stored and a few tips on local places I could go to whilst the my room was being made available. On the down side, the room I stayed in was not the cleanest and the AC/Heating didn't work at all. When I say didn't work, I mean that the fans made loads of noise, but the temp regulation just didn't work. I couldn't get any heat in the room. Thankfully it wasn't too cold in Amsterdam the weekend I was there in September but, because some Technical show was on at the exhibition centre (RAI) the room rate was eye wateringly high and I would have at least expected a bit more for my money! Would I stay there again. Yes and No. Yes, because the location is so handy. No, because the place needs some significant modernisation. Not to turn it into some sterile chain hotel, but to make it clean and functional. I travel to Amsterdam a lot and have stayed in some much nicer hotels, but there is a charm to this one which with a bit of TLC would turn this into a fantastic boutique hotel. I understand that this hotel has only recently come under the Best Western brand so, let's hope they bring it up to spec.

"Great location but not the 'Best' Western"
SydneyKate_40, 05 Novembre 2015

For location around the Dam Square area this hotel was a great pick (close to shops, restaurants, bars etc), the Staff were helpful and efficient. The room was small and basic compared to other Best Westerns I have stayed in, that being said the bed was extremely comfortable and everything was clean. The bathroom however was below average with the tiny sink area not at all practical for applying make-up or shaving. Breakfast was very ordinary and did not have a good range. The wi-fi was efficient and we enjoyed a quiet nights sleep despite the busy location. We were able to store our bags for the day as our flight was not until the evening, this came in very handy. Overall not a bad place to stay but a bit pricey for what you got.

"A quick visit to Amesterdam"
taldebsi, 04 Novembre 2015

This was s quick stop for one night. Excellent friendly staff excellent location , Free wifi, comfortable big room. Room was below ground level, no view.basic breakfast The hotel very close to Dam square, trams, shopping and within walking distance from most attractions.Ten min walk from central station. You can hear the voice of the people next room easily.

"Good location, just around the corner from Dam Square"
dmw9277, 31 Octobre 2015

Staff were friendly, free wifi and breakfast. Good location, and just steps to Dam Square. Lots of bars and restaurants within a few blocks. About 6 blocks walk from Central Train station. Rooms were plain and small.

"Fabulous location"
dollyloulondon, 29 Octobre 2015

Great hotel in the best location, right by dam square. Situated on a beautiful street with lots of lovely looking eateries. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient. Room was spacious and clean, although a bit chilly and the air con/heating didn't seem to work too well. My only criticism is that, although the room has a kettle there are no tea bags left, just coffee and no milk either.

"BW review"
452barbaray, 22 Octobre 2015

The accommodations were fine. The desk workers were helpful. The breakfast was not good. There was nothing healthy offered. Most hotels have eggs there weren't eggs offered. The breakfast needs drastic improvement.

"Average"
gizago, 21 Octobre 2015

For the price paid I am satisfied. However, I want to be as honest and impartial as possible with my reviews and compared to other Best Western hotels in other Cities this can only be described as "average" and worthy of 3 stars because: The sink in our room (222) was completely inaccessible as it was built into the corner of a triangular room! The shower was weak with no head adjustment so getting to those "hidden bits" was impossible! The condiments and accessories were really garbage! Cheap soap, plastic cups and shampoo that makes your hair feel like it's been burnt under a gas torch! Why do you do that in hotels like this? For a few cents more this could so easily be U-turned! Breakfast was great! Nice service and plenty of choice. However, the supermarket bread was a disappointment.

"Expired"
Nicklas O, 14 Octobre 2015

This hotel has passed its expiration date with many years. The lobby and all other common areas need immediate renovation. The bed were bad and the basin was cramped in a corner of the bathroom. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

"Go for it"
andreasp27, 14 Octobre 2015

The hotel is located in the center of amsterdam in dam square. Is close to everything. The staff is very helpfull and friendly. The rooms are nice and clean. The only problem is the shower but still the overall impresion is good.

"Great location!!!"
Stalw M, 13 Octobre 2015

The first plus was the location. Just next to the Dam square and really really close to the Rembrand square, the red light district, the flower market and the shopping area. Trams are passing by every couple of minutes. The staff was really friendly and helpfull. There was even warm coffee and apples all day long at tge reception to help our selves. The size of the room was comfy and also the beds and the bathroom. Clean towels were waiting for as every day and the hotel in general was very clean. Two minuses was the water in the shower which didn't have any pressure make it very hard to have a decent shower and the fact that in breakfast they were not hot servings. Apart from that we would definetely stay there again if we visit again Amsterdam.

"Dismal"
Peter C, 12 Octobre 2015

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. First the good point. It is located in the centre of Amsterdam. End of good points. Our first impression was the smell – mouldy, fusty, stale air. The staff was polite and friendly but it took the receptionist around 15 minutes to find a room for us, although we had booked a month before. Our poor first impression was amplified when we found that the corridors were poorly lit. The lift was the slowest lift I have encountered in many a long year. It was a topic of wry comment by ourselves and other staying at the hotel. Our room was dismal and depressing - very poorly lit. It was not until the second day that I realised that the carpet was purple and not grey. The window looked out onto a wall only around five meters distant and the window of another room. Ideal if you wish to observe the neighbours and be observed in return. There was a TV, tea/coffee, mini-safe and a hairdryer. The bed and bedding were reasonable and it was quiet. I cannot comment on cleanliness because of the poor lighting. Breakfast was adequate. Cereals, bread, cold meats, cheese. Butter, jam etc came in the usual nasty little plastic containers. We were not expecting The Ritz, but this was disappointing. Not on par with most other Best Western hotels.

"Great location"
J H, 10 Octobre 2015

Great location near the dam square wich has so much going on, min from the square you can sit and watch the oranised chaos that Amsterdam does so well, the rooms were decent size for the price and staff were very friendly, breakfast was continental basic but tasty. We would stay there next time

"Nice location"
LaleCB, 09 Octobre 2015

Me and my husband stayed 2 nights in this hotel. It's a small hotel in a very good location. Really central. The room was large enough, bed was comfortable, thats all. The bathroom was awful, too old, needs a renovation. The room we stayed was facing the street which was noisy late at nights, but this is usual in central hotels. Just in front of the door when you just enter the room, there were two tiny steps (wonder why they are there!!) like booby traps. I found them quite dangerous. The lights were not properly working so the room was dark. Else was ok, breakfast was nice, the staff were helpfull and overall tidy and clean.

"Close to Dam Square and tram lines."
Edie P, 09 Octobre 2015

In the center of the action in Central Amsterdam. Helpful staff; adequate buffet breakfast; smallish rooms but adequate; okay shower; has an elevator! The location is awesome - one short block off Dam Square and half a block to tram lines. Also within walking distance to Central Station. Highly recommend this hotel!

"another great stay"
Marco R, 09 Octobre 2015

room was very nice and sunny and large,,,for sure I will ask for this one again this has been my 5th time here and hopefully not my last,,,the FD people are great very kind and helpful to everyone,,,a must stay hotel

"Good hotel in Amsterdam"
johnQ1330BJ, 15 Septembre 2015

Good hotel in Amsterdam: Central but quiet location, clean and comfortable, good service, well situated for public transport and for getting to the old city on foot and even as far as Central Station. Some very good places to eat nearby.

"Great Location, Average Hotel, Value for money"
Mines-a-vodka-tonic, 15 Septembre 2015

OK, it's basic, generally clean (Apart from some dirt and food on the floor between the beds) and offers a simple breakfast. Room on the third floor was comfortable although nothing special BUT! for the money (We paid about €120 euro a night for a twin room in peek season) It really is a winner. The location is spot on and lets face it, if you are coming to Amsterdam to savour everything the city has to offer - you should only be in your room to sleep and shower the next morning anyway.

"Great Location - Clean and Easy"
JamminVancouver, 10 Septembre 2015

Spent a couple of nights at the Best Western Dam Square Inn. Hotel was clean, the breakfast supplied was great, and the location was perfect. Not a super fancy place, but it fit the bill. Quiet and clean.

"Great location, good value"
Elmer&Lizette, 06 Septembre 2015

This hotel is all about location. Just a 10m walk from the train station and in the middle of the city center. Do not bother to try to get here by car. Front desk was friendly, room was ok. Quiet. Clean. Although the bathroom was very tiny. Good internet speed. Breakfast was not really much. You will probably not find better value in this part of the city. If you're looking for a good place to eat close by, try the next door restaurant named Côte Ouest.

"Friendly staff close to main attractions"
Brian B, 05 Septembre 2015

I stayed here for 3 nights the room was very comfortable, the breakfast was good something to please most ... it is a cold breakfast, nice coffee , fresh fruit dverday , cold meats cereal yoghurt, toast and juice . The location is central to a lot of the main attractions and shopping area. Gold eating places nearby . Staff are willing to help with any questions .
