"Very good family owned hotel with great dinner options"
WorldTravelOne, 09 Septembre 2021

Very relaxing atmosphere. Our room looked out on the meadow, no roads in sight. Modern well equiped room with airconditioning. When you stay in this hotel you should book a dinner table too. They serve meat from their own farm. Prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. The hotel and farm are family owned.

"Excellent local food"
Egbert M, 06 Novembre 2019

Hotel restaurant Aduard serves typical local dutch food, prepared as much as possible with products and ingredients grown on their own farm. We had Aduard Stew, “boerenkool with bacon” and local fish. The taste was as my (grand)mother would have prepared it!

"Best stay close to Groningen"
WorldTravelOne, 18 Août 2019

This Best Western hotel near Groningen city is an excellent choice. Free parking, free breakfast, very nice dining experience with locally sourced produce and meat from the family farm. Friendly staff and the owners are visibly taking part in service delivery. The live orange juice squeezer is fun and you won't get freshly squeezed oj any fresher than this. The comfort and luxury rooms are spacious. Small pointers for improvement: Sound proofing from the hallway could be better. The ceiling in the dining and breakfast rooms could be more elegant. There are several height differences and appliances not fully integrated.

"One night in very pleasant surroundings"
guylungmuss, 06 Août 2019

A one night stop on a whistlestop motorbike tour. The rooms were very small, but very clean and comfortable. The shower en suite was a tight squeeze. Good beer and good food made up for any failings on room size, as too tired to care by the time I went to bed. Good choice at breakfast. It is out of town, but as a consequence it is quiet and plenty of places to park for free.

"Beautiful northern Holland"
BulgarianEnglishman, 04 Juillet 2019

We lucked out staying at this BW, set in miles of green farmland, with cows and horses to look at, grazing, lying down, playing. Big big sky. It is the perfect antidote to the craziness and less than clean Amsterdam. And the food is absolutely wonderful.

"A very nice and pleasant stay"
Torbenlindy, 10 Juin 2019

We had booked a three day stay at The Best Western Hotel Restaurant Aduard in Aduard. The hotel is located about 10 minutes outside of Groningen. We had bought our stay through a travel agent at a very reasonable price including breakfast and two three course meals. We didn't know what would await us, but the hotel was much nicer than we'd expected considering the price that we had paid. The hotel turned out to be very nice and modern and our room was very spacious and newly furbished. Through our windows we could see farmland and horses which was quite idyllic. The breakfast buffet was very tasty and with lots of different things to choose from. The dinners we had were okay. The hotel staff were very friendly and service minded. And what a relief that they spoke both German and English. All in all I can only recommend this hotel. You get a lot for your money's worth and we'll surely be back the next time we are headed for a rock festival in the Groningen area.

"Vacation in Groningen"
Herman S, 04 Juin 2019

We stayed in this host for three night and it was a very pleasant stay this hotel is in the middle of the country. When you looked out of your window in your room you will see many cows grazing in the field it is a really a wonderful place to relax . The breakfast which was included in the price was out of this world. When we had to leave early for the airport in the morning they made for us bag lunch for us to take along with no extra charge . We sure will come again

"Friendly, clean, great breakfast"
Henk S, 06 Décembre 2018

Stayed at the hotel one week whilst in Groningen. The hotel is modern, a family business that has grown over many years. There is a selection of accomodation from single rooms to a new wind with family rooms. There is also a sheltered play area for children.Very well appointed single room, clean and very helpful staff. Breakfast is traditional and excellent.Besides the hotel there is a good restaurant.

"Excellent value for money in the restaurant"
Lourens P, 08 Octobre 2018

We had the 'monk' menu in this restaurant. A three course meal for just 20 euros. Quality was actually a lot better than expected. Good food, with fish (cod), chicken and beef and a choice of vegetables and beans. No fries or potatoes because these were unknown in NL in those Middle ages :-) Friendly staff, modern facilities.

"Good beds, good Food"
Birgitte Adler ... H, 09 Septembre 2018

Located just outside Groningen, it is a peaceful place, overlooking green fields. The rooms are nice and very clean, and the beds are amazing. Included is a huge, healthy breakfast, which easily tales you through most of the day. Definately a hotel I would choose again

"Good night rest in a lovely place"
BCN03052001, 17 Août 2018

We stayed here one night when there was a heat wave in Holland. Luckily this hotel was one of the very few with air conditioning. We had a very comfortable, big sized room and a good, quite night rest. The breakfast was included and very divers and good quality. Very nice and professional staff. Recommendable for personal or business stays. Aduard is a lovely old town.

"Local friendly family run hotel"
WorldTravelOne, 16 Avril 2018

Very nice hotel. It has been in the family (Kingma) for generations on end. Eye for detail. Local sourcing of food (own farms). Some small things could be improved upon, like the internet connection strenght in some of the outer end rooms. We like the staff. Very customer focussed. We will return.

"Lovely, clean, very good restaurant"
Miste2016, 19 Novembre 2017

I had a very good experience in this Best Western close to Groningen. The staff was really attentive, and they did their best at the restaurant even if it was really busy on a week-end night. The rooms were clean and tidy and I really appreciated the fan and safe in the standard room, details that make a difference. The standard room is a bit small, but good design. The suite instead is really recommended as it is very spacious. We had dinner in the restaurant and the choices were tasty and healthy. Breakfast was regular, a self service buffet, I would suggest to make it a bit more peculiar, being also in such a rural surrounding. Very spacious car park, friendly staff. I would definitely go again

"A quiet nice clean new hotel 15 miles out from Groningen city, good restaurant, excellent breakdfast. Value for money."
Haje1946_11, 11 Juillet 2017

It used to be the local cafe-restaurant, later on a drivers-cafe, the a hotel was added, the last extension was in 2014, The newly build superior rooms at the back of the hotel are very large: 36 m2, very quiet, have airconditioning (not the smaller, standard, older rooms in front), the ground floor rooms have a small terrace overlooking the fields. The staff is friendly, helpful, hardworking, when it was busy at the restaurant the friendly proprietress herself helped the staff serve out the meals. Free - not guarded - parking in front of the hotel. Extensive breakfast with many kinds of bread, fresh fruit, very nice. The restaurant is serving good affordable food - not haute cuisine - using local produce, the proprietress' husband owns a cattle farm and supplies beef to the restaurant.

"A nice hotel with a few issues"
Texel_Birder, 14 Juin 2017

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel with no major complaints, but a few quibbles. First the positives. The breakfast was typically good as can be found in the Netherlands, while the restaurant was good while not outstanding. The all you can eat salad buffet was a nice touch. The staff were very polite and helpful on all occasions. My room was clean, comfortable and with a partially nice view of the nearby countryside The quibbles: The party wall on my room seemed to be very thin, so that I could hear every word of the angry woman in the next room. Not the hotel's fault per se, but still annoying. The draught beer seemed to be exceptionally expensive for the measures provided. However, the bottled Heineken was a more than adequate alternative.

"The best bestwestern "
Phillip C, 31 Mars 2017

The hotel was booked through engensia so when it came up as a best western hotel I was not doing cartwheels, how wrong I was on arrival we were up graded to a luxury room at no extra cost and the level of service has not altered since great staff amazing resturant with specials from the farm which joins the hotel. The rooms are modern and spotless great wifi all in all a great hotel

"We had a list of niggles"
Des H, 19 Février 2017

But as we gave them to the management before we left, it would be unfair to repeat them here. The hotel is situated in a quiet area outside of Groningen and we had rooms in the newest wing backing on to open farmland where we were entertained by visiting oyster catcher with its familiar cries of alarm. The rooms were large, comfortable and well appointed. As usual for non-coffee snobs, we did not have a clue how to work the coffee machine and, being, Holland, the only tea choice was a fruit tea. Fortunately, we always bring our own kettle and English tea when staying anywhere outside the UK, so we could look after ourselves. The breakfasts were of the traditional buffet continental style with plenty of choice of delights with which to start the day. Despite the list of niggles we had, they were insufficient to prevent us using this hotel if staying in this area again.

"Family Holiday in the Dutch Countryside"
Kevin C, 10 Septembre 2016

We were so pleased to find this hotel on our family road-trip holiday. Clean, modern, really well designed all on one floor. Our rooms were huge, with full wall glass doors opening onto the Dutch countryside. A peaceful, friendly stay. Breakfast was just what we needed, typical Dutch fare. We plan to come back next Spring and make the most of its location.

"Fantastic hotelaccommodation nearby Groningen"
Ed V, 11 Août 2016

We had a stay for one night during the weekend. A fantastic hotel accommodation with a 100% perfect service level. The employees were fantastic. Very friendly and a with good sense of humor. Thank you very much to have us around.

"Roadside Hotel"
G3VVW, 04 Août 2016

Room can only be described as HUGE! new clean, toilet and large walk in shower room, coffee machine, free wifi, safe, air conditioning, TV, room service and laundry service available. Excellent staff and good food breakfast and evening meal. Would I return YES.

"A bit more than average"
PeerJochems, 22 Juin 2016

a decent hotel, this one. We had a superior room, which had a full size bath, seperate shower and a good bed. Mainly just slept there, because of a wedding we were attending. Breakfast is decent as well, lots to choose from, from boiled or scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, smoothies, good coffee and an assortment of bread.

"Fine short stay"
MrCanada, 14 Mai 2016

Normally I won't stay in these kind of hotels outside a city. But we got a stay from someone for free. It's situated on a reasonable busy road, but it's not a disturbing thing. While most of the rooms are the other side of the buidling. The building is not a inviting one. However the rooms (we got a upgrade) are well equipped with a theme of the region. Beautifull floors, trendy chairs inside. Beds are okay. And spacious. Breakfast is a buffet and very good. Enough choices. Vey nice and friendly staff. Older people during the weekend, getaways. During the week lots of business travellers. Good place to stay. I would stay there next time when I have to go for business there.

"perfect location, friendly staff and some pointers"
WorldTravelOne, 17 Avril 2016

This family (Kingma) run hotel and restaurant has an ideal location for trips to the city of Groningen. The building itself is a mix of older and newer parts with several additions that each have their own character. The standard rooms face the somewhat busy road, but that is not really disturbing if you leave the windows closed. One point of improvement is the sound proofing of the doors; because you can hear guests talking when they pass your room on the way to theirs (and that could be when you were sound asleep). The standard rooms are small, so go for the comfort or luxury rooms if you don't like confined spaces. Parking is free. The breakfast selection is good. Most of the friendly staff members speak their languages (Dutch, German, English, ...), with the occasional exception where a language refresher course could add something. All in all minor details that could make something good even better. We would stay here again!

"Diner was not up to expectation"
Miggro, 27 Mars 2016

After we heard some good reviews of the diner at the hotel, we decided to have our family diner there. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not as expected. It was Ok-ish but not more than that. Service was also not very professional. Nice try but not again for us

"Just getting better with every visit "
Tom_Ottantatre, 14 Mars 2016

This was my third visit here and this hotel is getting better every time. I got a room at the back of the hotel. The room was stunning big and modern. I really feel at home here. Best hotel in the netherlands. With an amazing kitchen.

"Very good night in this hotel in the countryside"
IsabelleMeunier, 07 Mars 2016

Close to Groningen, we found this place as we would not find 3 rooms in the same hotel in tge center. This hotel is very close to the city, easy to find and the rooms are overlooking the countryside. Great rooms with wondefulr beds and all the confort, excellent breakfast, very nice staff. Highly recommended.

"A great rural setting"
Thomas E, 12 Juin 2015

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, particularly the comfort of the room, the level of service and the menu choices. We did have minor difficulty getting the heating / cooling system operating.

"Groningen weekend"
MrGem, 03 Décembre 2014

We had a great weekend in Groningen and found this hotel to stay for a night, only 15 minutes by drive from city centre. We had a really nice 4 courses dinner for a very reasonable price and the breakfast buffet was also delicious with local dairy and meat products. Room was quite big, so we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel.

"Family owned. and it shows!"
Robert H, 12 Septembre 2014

I spent 3 nights here with a colleague, and it could not have been better. This is a family-run hotel in the literal sense - the owners are on site doing the work. It is clear that their principle obsession is quality. Much of the food in the restaurant comes from their own farm, and the rest is locally sourced and excellent. The rooms are large, comfortable, built of the highest quality materials and quite exceptional. Each has a panoramic view of the local countryside - dotted with the very animals you will be eating at dinner. Each has an outside patio or balcony, being a pleasant place to sit in the evenings. The location is slightly odd: it is by the side of a minor through road to Groningen, some way from the city. But if you are going to build a family run hotel on your own land, you build it where the land is! If you want to tour Groningen you will find yourself driving to and from the hotel, but the ambience and the welcome from the staff will overcome that. Groningen is full of characterful hotels but all have small rooms, lack parking, and you will be kept awake long into the night by night-club music. The Aduard is a way out of town, but it is quiet, huge, and with free parking. Wifi works well and is free. Breakfast was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

"Wonderfull small hotel with excellent restaurant"
Tom_Ottantatre, 26 Mars 2014

I stayed here for business between customer visits. I was able to book a single room with breakfast for only 49 euro. The room was very big, the bed was excellent, all what was needed was available in the room (except a mini bar). The brekfast I had in the morning was complete and tasty. I also had dinner in the eveing. The kitchen works only with local and fresh products. Really, excellent cuisine in the Netherlands! Next time I pass here I will certainly visit this hotel again

"A lovely surprise from family owned affiliate of Best Western"
W H, 30 Juin 2013

Having grown up in the States, I can't say that I ever stayed in a Best Western as they were not appealing to me at all. Our stay here was unexpected and such a lovely surprise. We booked this hotel while attending a sports tournament for our children. It was a day-of booking and chosen on the combination of photos and price. When we arrived in the evening, the owner professionally checked us in and offered an upgrade at no charge. We stayed in one of the "luxury" rooms. The hotel has been very recently renovated but has been in the same family since the 60's. It's modern decor in our large room and dining area was appealing. The entire room was very modern, clean and comfortable. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was actually two spaces. One for the toilet and another for a good sized shower and sink area. The wood floors were very clean. Breakfast was fresh and quite adequate, offering lovely breads and rolls, fresh fruit, cucumbers, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, meats, cheeses, honey, cereal, and a few local Dutch items. The staff was lovely. I might recommend requesting a room in the back, although we slept so well that we didn't hear any street noise after a few minutes. If in the area again, we would certainly return to this hotel, though may request the luxury room again based on some other reviews.
