« Stopover on our way to Frankfurt »

This hotel is perfect for doing what it says on the tin. Good price, good rooms, excellent bathroom and excellent parking. I will be back on my next journey I'm sure. Someone mentioned soft pillows, which seems to be a European issuer - solution use two!

    « Clean, Comfortable, Convenient »

Very easy to find and plenty of parking. Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean comfortable rooms and good wifi. Grillhuise restaurant serves a hearty Cote a Los to share. Its about 10 mins by car. Has a good set menu too.

    « lovely comfortable hotel »

enjoyed our one night stay in this really fist class hotel on our way back to to England, very easy to find just off the motorway yet very quiet in rooms. comfortable beds only did not like the high square pillows, not used to those pillows but that is the only negative comment, otherwise friendly helpful staff and clean rooms.

« didn't get past the registration desk »

Walked into this deserted-looking hotel on a roundabout last night for stopover before Channel crossing. Man at front desk was unwelcoming to the point of intimidating. The conversation went like this: Q "Hello. Do you have a room for one night" A "Yes" Q "Can I also get something to eat & drink?" A "No." Q "Is the room quiet?" A "Normal" Q "What does it cost?" A "64 euros without breakfast" followed by a gesture demanding payment up front. Q "Can I see the room first?" A "No." At which point I said thank-you & good-bye. The man at the desk was utterly indifferent.

    « Clean and quiet »

Friendly staff and very quiet rooms. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are large . We arrived on Saturday and discovered a lovely farmers market in the parking lot across from the hotel. In the morning a food truck was in the parking lot with breakfast and lots of locals.

    « Relaxing and convienient »

Stopped here for an overnight on our way to a channel crossing. Enjoyed the beer and the bar. Staff was rather relaxed but helpful. Checkout was quick and rooms were large and clean. Large parking lot overlooked by room made keeping an eye on car easy.

    « A Very Best Western »

This is the perfect choice for a stay whilst travelling to or from the Channel ports for instance when catching an early ferry. It is 2 minutes from the motorway, 75 minutes from the tunnel and has a large car park. More importantly we booked on-line 2 days before our stay and got a double room only deal for £50 for the night. Check-in and check-out took less than 30 seconds each (great if you are in a rush) and the staff were friendly. There is no restaurant and we did not have breakfast but the bar was active with guests chatting away. I did not have great expectations but the room was clean with a large double bed and soft pillows. Wifi worked well and there was air conditioning which did make a slight noise. The town centre is about 150m walk with authentic bars selling a good selection of beers. There are a number of restaurants but you will have to make your own choice as the one we tried was not so good and overpriced. Depending on your itinerary this could be a convenient place for exploring Flanders. So unexpectedly I award this Best Western Hotel 5 stars!

    « Reasonable »

I have stayed before and knew what to expect. Fairly standard for Belgium but it is in a good location just off the E40 so handy for Brussels airport. Parking right outside but it is a public car park so in the afternoon you have to fight with the parents collecting children from school and if leaving after 8:00 in the morning it is also very busy although you do see children being dropped off from 7:00. Rooms a reasonable size and have a good sized work area, fridge that works, air conditioning and plenty of hot water, the beds are very comfortable and the television also has English channels, ITV and BBC. Breakfast is generally cold buffet but you can cook boiled eggs and sausages, they used to open the restaurant in the evening but not anymore, which is a shame, although they do provide a list of restaurants in Aalter, I chose one but they didn't have an English menu and whilst the waiter spoke a little English and said he would guide me through the menu he only pointed out two dishes. Good value for money but would be better with a reopened restaurant.

« Walter has not Faltered »

Spend a weekend June 2016 - great base to explore both northern Belgium and France - Bruges a must! Only 90 mins from Calais and when used with the Euro Tunnel is only 2 hours from Folkstone Very warm welcome and very comfortable - seemed a busy place, lots of locals use the facilities. We upgraded to a suite and well worth the money Will now use this as a base to explore further south and east

« Punches above its weight! Very nice hotel »

Ideal location for visits to Bruges and Ghent... close to the highway, but not that close to hear the cars. Large, clean, big room. Very friendly staff... we arrived earlier than the regular check in time and were helped in a very friendly manner. Decent breakfast buffet too.

« Stopover on way to Germany »

Prefect place for a stopover. Hotel very comfortable. Room was spacious. Staff were friendly. Car park was free and provided plenty of space. Breakfast was traditional continental style with a lot choice. Cold meats and cheese. Sausages and boiled egg. Waffle making machine.

    « Great value 3 star hotel »

Stayed here twice now, can't beat the price for quality of the hotel. Check in and out are very friendly and straight forward. Rooms are very nice for a 3 star hotel. Not overly luxurious, but it has all you could want, including free wifi, tea/coffee facilities and a safe that will fit a medium size laptop. They also have a bar which we haven't used, but always looks inviting with people there.

    « Fantastic as always »

We stayed for 3 nights .. Fab service both in the bar and reception .. Good prices in the bar .. Lovely rooms and an amazing shower .. Very clean ... We explored both Brugge and Ghent from her and travelled by train which is very easy .. A great stay .. Well done the staff again .. We will return

    « ***** 5 Star's ***** »

Fabulous hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights & worth the money. We walked around the area where there is a massive supermarket & a lovely square which there are a few restaurants. The hotel only does breakfast & provides you with a list of food places in the area. There is a vending machine near the lift/toilet(s). You can walk to the train station where you can catch a train to Bruges & to our places. Rooms are spacious and inviting. Great air-conditioning/heater. Shower is amazing. Tea & coffee plus a fridge. Staff are very friendly when we arrived & our room keys were ready upon our arrival. The staff looked after us and said goodbye when we left. There was a massive group of us staying here and we had booked out the whole hotel as we were attending a Rock/Metal Festival called WizzFest (2016). Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended. Good connections to the Motorway.

    « Great Small Hotel!! »

Terrific small hotel with excellent family ownership management team. Excellent English speaking front desk staff who are very informative about their community on where to go and what to see. We highly recommend this hotel when visiting Bruges because of better rates and short 15 min efficient train ride. Fun little neighborhood bar/cafe scene. Wonderful breakfast.

    « Nice place »

Reasonable Not a great value for the money. They were efficient. My keys were ready and they knew I am coming.. Rooms are good. Over all happy. Close by is a good Italian restaurant. Good parking area.

« Great value for money. Would use again »

Well situated just 5 mins off the E40 and very handy for visiting Ghent and Bruges. Plenty of free parking outside the hotel. Our room was a good size, modern and very clean with tea and coffee making facilities. Good sized TV with English channels. Breakfast was excellent and the wifi was the best I have ever experienced in a hotel and included in the room rate. Hotel does not do evening meals but there are many excellent restaurants within a 5 min walk We went to the nearby Italian which was excellent and reasonable priced

    « Aalter on business »

I spent a week here while working in Tielt. I enjoyed my stay: the rooms are clean, breakfast is good, the family that runs this establishment will take nice care of you. The Internet connection is reliable and my room had plenty of space to work. There are good restaurants in walking distance.

    « Fabulous »

We spent one night here on a motorcycle trip to Europe .. Beautiful hotel .. Lovely room .. Clean and modern with a very comfy bed .. Massive shower and a great nights sleep .. Polite and friendly service and a well Stocked and reasonable Priced bar .. We enjoyed our night here and would have Liked to stay longer .. Would def go back

On arrival in Aalter we were surprised at how modern and small the town looked. The free parking at the front of the hotel was most welcome but be careful at school drop off and pick up times as it can be very busy. On checking in the staff seemed a little light on numbers so we expected a long wait but were pleasantly surprised at the efficiency we received. The rooms are spacious and well presented. The availability of several English TV channels will appeal to some. The only down side was the lack of a restaurant in the hotel in the evening but with so many and such a variation within a 5 minute walk it was not a great problem. The breakfast offering was very good and set us up for the long journey ahead. It is just off the main road but far enough away from it to ensure it can't be heard. It would be an excellent base to discover the northern parts of Belgium and also for a stop off en-route. Great hotel with great staff.

    « Good value Hotel »

A modern welcoming hotel just off the Ostend to Brussels motorway. Our room was comfortable and well equipped the bathroom large with a good shower. The hotel has a pleasant bar area with a good range of local beers. Breakfast is plentiful. The hotel does not serve dinner but there are several restaurants a short walk away.

    « Been before »

This is the third time I have stayed here over the last couple of years as it's an ideal place to stay whilst travelling. Close to the motorway (E40) yet no traffic noise. Comfortable clean rooms and good service. Nice restaurants nearby if you don't fancy the hotel restaurant. The village of Aalter is delightful with friendly locals. Will definitely return and stay again next time were travelling.

    « Nice Hotel »

Visited with my family in August, the hotel is convenient to the motorway and midway between Ghent and Brugge. The rooms are very clean the TV has English channels which pleased my daughter, the staff are very friendly. Well recommended :-)

    « Nice overnight stop »

Travelling to Germany this was our first stop over. The room was as expected clean and tidy lift to the room good shower comfortable beds good nights sleep. Parking is free at the front of the hotel where there are many spaces with an overflow car park to the right hand side rear. Bar in the hotel used by locals reasonable prices 33 ml beer 3?. Leave the hotel turn to your right and at the corner of the hotel turn right again walk along the street and after 60m you come to the town square with a bandstand. There are several restaurants in the area all seemed reasonably priced. There are banks in this area too for cashpoints

    « great place »

This hotel is an excellent place to stay. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a large suite with large and mini fridges as well as soaker tub. A safe is also provided and the WIFI is free. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There is a large parking area directly in front of the hotel which is free. The included breakfast buffet is also very good and plentiful. The hotel is also very quiet and close to the highway. Keep in mind that a lot of places, including restaurants, were closed on Mondays. If you plan to visit Ghent and Bruges, this is a perfect location to stay as it is a short drive away to both cities. Each city provides excellent parking areas easily accessible and fairly cheap, (about 9 Euros for 6 hrs stay). Highly recommended.

« Great base for your exploration »

This hotel was fabulous. Very clean, modern. Parking at the front door with WIFI and a very attentive staff. The morning breakfast is not to be missed. I would definitely stay here again and again. From here we visited Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges,Ypres. The staff were like family always around to help out ie. power adapters, holding our luggage, letting in our room early. We hated to leave.
