    « Never again! »

I have NEVER posted a negative review prior to this, generally I try to avoid doing so because a bad experience could just be an aberration, not the usual situation. But with this place, I felt I needed to get the word out. Traveling on business, to visit a local client, I picked this hotel because it had what appeared to be a decent set of reviews for the cost. I wonder now if those reviews were "salted" by the staff or owners and not paying customers. On check-in, the young lady on reception duty was very rude - no greeting, no smile, no attempt to assist when I couldn't find the room initially due to the directions she gave me. When I did find the room (lugging suitcases, laptop, etc. up multiple flights) and got inside, the room was insanely small. WiFi service was non-existent inside the room - there was a chair in the hallway near my door, so I had to take the laptop outside the room to connect for emails, etc. I actually wondered if the placement of the chair was planned for that situation. The window in the room I had was non-functional, in that the hinge was broken at the top and the window wouldn't close, with a church bell right across the street chiming in each half-hour all night, very loudly. At what was referred to as "breakfast" the next morning, in the main building, the available offerings were very disappointing. I went to grab some fruit (an apple) and found the whole bowl mushy, almost to the point of being inedible. On the plus side, the place was very clean. But the staff could definitely use some customer relationship training, if not anger management courses.

    « Quiet Hotel »

Quiet hotel hidden in the housing area, good for short business stay. Hotel is well kept and rooms are very clean and comfortable. Hotel restaurant is the only dining place available in this quiet area. Beautiful backyard garden from the balcony of my room. Internet is a little slow when the room is further away from the main area. (My colleague's comment)

    « Disappointing »

This I'd say I a typical box ticking hotel, everything might say it's 4* on paper, the assessor may even agree on the day, however I've been in 2* hotels with better service and breakfast. The rooms are OK it has a mini bar with a choice of 3 drinks, I had a balcony, the beds were comfy and I was happy with my pillow and the shower was great. Wifi was touch and go and drove me barmy when I was trying to Skype the family, there's (questionable) coffee making facilities. Receptionist needs some customer service training, or maybe a different career, she was rude and unwelcoming and I even witnessed her shouting at a guest saying their fitness facilities were closed as they read the sign saying that it was closed. Breakfast was a major disappointment. One of the worst in fact, when you see 4* you expect clean, set tables, a decent hot breakfast, better quality food and good service, I found the hot food was nothing towards hot, tasteless, and I've had better variety and service at a pizza Hut. It's Ok for a night or two but I've been to better.

    « Real Hospitality! »

Historically located on the Limes - the 'Hadrian's Wall' designed to keep (most of) the Germans at bay - we were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It is some way out of Aalen, which has a charming centre but you would need transport to use this hotel as the village it occupies is not itself too interesting, beyond its history. Our 'classic' room was large but lacked table and easy chairs and the shower tray was quite slippery. Beyond this the place was superb for what it was - a good semi rural provincial hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly and obliging and we felt genuinely welcome in every way. They could not do enough for us. There was a pleasant outside area and ample parking. The hotel is on two sites close to each other. There was a restaurant in the other part. We did not use it but it looked good. The drinks etc in the room fridge were complimentary and included wine. Breakfasts were served in 'our' part (the Haupthaus) and, for a continental breakfast, the fare was plentiful, varied and tasty. This hotel was a most pleasant and memorable experience, mosly due to the excellent staff. It also has a really nice spa, though it lacks a jacuzzi..

« No sleep due to function use »

Room okay, nothing to shout about. Breakfast very limited on day 2 as regular guests pushed out by a football team. However big problem was noise from a wedding. The lid music started at. 23.45 just as I was trying to get to sleep. For three hours I have been subjected to lisening to every note and drumbeat of every song as the soundproofing is totally inadequate. What makes it worse is that no-one at the hotel has been available to take hear my complaint as there reception appears to be unmanned overnight. So if you value sleep I would avoid this hotel. Clearly their wedding business is more important to them than the most basic needs of regular guests.

    « OK. Not amazing »

Was going to a concert in the next town about a twenty minute drive away. Was all that was available really that seemed to tick the boxes I needed ticked. Wifi, parking and air conditioning. To be honest air conditioning was the main factor in my decision to book as the hotel is in a small town and not near anything too busy. Suited me for what I needed. It was nearly 30 degrees (Celcius) so the air con was a must. Arrived late enough and was in a rush so didn't really look for the air con as I presumed it would be there. Rushed out to drive to the concert. Came back and it was absolutely roasting so went to put the air con on and low and behold there was none. There was a balcony though and there are plenty of rooms with balconies overlooking a garden. Be aware that there are crickets making noise all night in the summer, which doesn't bother me usually but it was so warm I had to leave the door to the balcony open all night which resulted in hearing them more. Also because of lack of air con and having to leave the door open my girlfriend has about ten mosquito bites on her. I got away light with two or three. If I got what I paid for, air con, there would be no scratching for the rest of my holiday. Only staff seemed to be one quite young girl and when we went to check out in the morning and to pay for the two cokes we had from the mini fridge there was nobody anywhere to be seen even after ringing the bell a few times. So we just put the room key on the counter and left.

« try a different hotel in Aalen »

Rooms are basic but clean. Hotel is located about 7 km from Aalen center. Internet very low. Hotel is divided into 2 parts. Sauna and steam room are available for free for the guests from 1 part of the hotel only which is shameful and does not leave a good impression.
