"Great Restored Hotel"
The hotel is being restored. It is a beautiful old building full of character. The restaurant and bar had tasty options and the breakfast buffet was well appointed and substantial. I would definitely return and spend more time in the area visiting the multiple museums in the area.
"Excellent Service!"
Ronald and his manager made a messed up booking into an outstanding experience. Ronald working with his manager were able to extend out stay from one night to two. The booking services I used got it wrong twice! Thankfully, Ronald and the manager were able to extend our stay and keep us in the same room. The room and hotel were beautiful. However, the customer service was exceptional! Thank you to the management, staff, and Ronald for giving us epic service and attention.
"A great Stay in Tampa"
We stayed at the Floridian on August 18th as we were sailing on a cruise the next day. The hotel is undergoing what appears to be a major renovation which didn't bother us at all. Check-in was quick and friendly. Our room was clean, well stocked and convenient to the rest of the hotel. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and cocktails at the hotel restaurant. The prices for the restaurant were consistent with other top tier near by restaurants. Check out was simply handing in the cards and walking out. Should we find ourselves in Tampa again we plan to stay here again. I'd give it 9 out of 10 points on my rating scale and highly recommend it. Bill

"Worst Hotel Experience"
I'm not even the type to leave reviews usually, but the experience we had here was really terrible. The construction situation is bad enough, but the area of town the hotel is in is difficult to navigate and very dangerous with no security whatsoever. Traveling as two women we felt incredibly unsafe and literally ran to the hotel from our cars at night because there's lots of men just hanging around the area. I got home and ordered a taser for future trips because of it… The man at the front desk was pretty rude, too, and when I asked for further explanation of the $50/night deposit (that isn't mentioned anywhere on the website either) he got very aggressive and agitated with me. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful and why we booked but we will never, ever visit again.

"Location and charm!"
I understand they are undergoing renovations, but we visited prior to the changes and the room was spectacular. I had a feel of old Florida, the members large and comfortable, and the location is just perfect for walking around downtown Tampa. They also have a decent breakfast every morning.

"No"
The hotel is undergoing a major remodeling. It is dangerous with scaffolding around the perimeter and the rooms were inadequate. The hotel is not very handicap accessible. There was however a restaurant / lounge on site that appeared to be a nice place. I would stay away.

"Not at all worth what they charge"
The hotel being under construction was not a problem, the quality of room and service was awful. Leaky AC unit, toilet broke, employees seemed to not care and housekeeping was completely rude to people in my group. The location is great but hotel is not worth what they charge, especially in the dangerous area you have to pay handsomely to park in!

"Awful. The worst stay "
This was the worst hotel and experience! For the parking to the heat. The staff. The room. This was awful. Hated the whole experience. Do not stay here. We had to evacuate. Staff didn't care. Fridge wasn't cold. Room was hot. Construction was too loud. Hotel was under construction

"Don't stay here"
I picked this hotel to stay at because it was walking distance to the convention center when I was going to the convention. I took a few laps to even find the hotel because there is no sign due the construction going on. When I started check in the guy checking me in seemed annoyed from already helping customers before me. He kept speaking softly or down to his computer and I had to ask him to speak up/to me a few times. The next issue came with the parking. THE PARKING IS NEXT TO A BUS STOP WITH NO FENCE AND NO SIGN OF SECURITY. i asked about that because you never know who is going to be walking around in downtown much less by a transiting area like a bus stop. The front desk guy claimed there would be a security guard and I never saw any the four days I was there. They also have a 50$ per day deposit that I had no idea about. They gave it back at the end but it's something people will need to know about to account for. The next issue is the room. The first room I got had a musty smell to it so I reported it and got moved. The next room wasn't any better and a few others I talked to seemed to have the same issue. The bathtub in my room wouldn't hold the water after it was filled and the minifridge didn't hold cool all that well. The AC was great though, it kept the room cold enough I had to put the temp up because it got too cold. Another issues we ran into was something seemed to make my friend sick. He would wake up unable to breath and after walking away from the hotel for about 10 minutes his breathing was back to normal. The entire aesthetic was meant to feel vintage but the elevators were definitely old. They made me a little nervous with how they bounced a few times when we used them. The breakfast was okay, not that I was expecting much. I was a little annoyed when the employees were too busy talking to each other to notice that there were no forks or bacon left. I waited about 5 minutes before asking if there was any forks.

"Kinda sucked"
The shower in our room leaked, the beds were hard and the sheets were so rough they peeled skin off my arm. As well as there not being valet parking or someone to help with luggage. Over all the price was not worth it.

"Gorgeous hotel with nightmare parking"
currently staying here and the place is gorgeous no doubt. The free breakfast is nice and the rooms are decent. The building is undergoing construction which is understandable for a 100 year old building. 2 of the 3 elevators weren't working but I can look past that. The problem is parking. The parking that seems available is the lot directly behind the hotel but it is under construction. A few cars are scattered throughout the lot. Turns out that's not where you're allowed to park. The parking you pay $30 a night for is across the street adjacent to a transient camp/bus stop. Keep in mind this lot you have to park in is not gated and costs $30 A NIGHT. I can see 15 a night but 30 is asking a little much considering the location. The photo I attached is the point of view from the lot under construction. The cars across the street are where we're supposed to park. I also shared my concern and frustration with the front desk and was brushed off. Now THAT was frustrating

"Great location for River Walk and all downtown areas."
The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and well versed in all aspects of the business. The hotel is unique by Best Western standards as it has a restaurant and a bar on premises. The restaurant food is excellent and the speciality cocktails prepared by Kate truly accent your stay.

"Parking"
If you require parking during your stay, best to stay elsewhere, the parking is off sight, $30 a night, the lot is unprotected, you can see broken glass everywhere, you can hardly see the lines for spaces, and you have to pass through a homeless community to get from the lot to the hotel. And dont stay in summer, the rooms ac cant keep up. The windows are outdated and not insulated at all, the units are tiny. We got maintenance that all the said was its the windows fault and got us a fan for the room. That still didnt fix the temperature but did make it more bearable at least.

"Classic historic hotel"
This is a 1926 hotel that is on the National Registry of historic places. Love the old classic touches the mail chute that runs down the wall to every floor . The lobby is especially historic they served a nice included breakfast from the antique bar area -including eggs, bacon, melon, waffles muffins toast and cereal. We enjoyed a lovely stay and walked to Amalie Arena for a Bruce Springsteen Concert

"Outdated and overpriced, yet good service"
This is a very outdated hotel. The rooms need real renovation. Breakfast is included yet very basic. Facilities are also outdated. And the price is very high, probably because of the location. And still, the service at the from desk was very good.

"Gasparilla gem"
Great hotel with a lot of history. Spacious rooms. Staff is very guest oriented. They enjoy making their guests feel welcome. From the front desk to the lounge to the breakfast staff, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. Although we live in Tampa, we will be back for special events and will recommend to all.
"Kind and helpful staff"
The staff were especially kind and helpful at the Floridan Palace, and the historical character of the hotel is fantastic. The area is easily walkable and has access to great local coffee roasters and restaurants to try out. Definitely will stay here next time in Tampa for work or play!
"Explored the Tampa downtown area, Ybor City area and the riverwalk"
Great location! Hotel was awesome, very historic and basically park and walk..It was fun exploring downtown Tampa and Ybor. We loved the free street car nearby. Explored Ybor city for the first time.
"Loved our stay!"
This was a complementary Best Western night on the night before our cruise…it is great! The building is old but has a lot of character! Our room was quite nice with the antique furniture and spaciousness…the best part of our stay was Nick at the Front Desk …very knowledgeable about nearby restaurants, volunteered to help us load Uber/Lyft to ensure we had a timely ride to the port and overall a great ambassador to the hotel and Best Western! He would be the reason we would come back!

"Disappointing"
First, dust the rooms. The bathroom fan was disgustingly dusty! All you need to do is vacuum the fan after each stay. Now, you will need to take it apart and thoroughly clean (if you actually read this). Second, provide security. There were a lot of homeless and pan-handlers near the parking lot. Many of us felt unsafe going to our cars by ourselves. Third, paying $30/night for parking was high-way robbery. Fourth, clean the exercise floor and get new equipment that works especially for the $$ we are paying for the rooms. Fifth, put a fitted bed sheet over the box springs, and provide better blankets in the rooms. Sixth, very little hot water in showers, and had to wait 15 minutes for hot water. This is a beautiful hotel, treat it as a beautiful, historical hotel. It's sad that this place was so run-down, and dirty.
"Two day getaway"
We live in the area, and decided to have a staycation at the Floridan. Interacted with half a dozen employees. All of them were wonderful and very helpful. On a previous stay we had spent time at the Sapphire Lounge, but it is currently under construction, which was disappointing but look forward to seeing what improvements they make to it. This is a beautiful historical hotel, and I'd argue a little bit of a secret since it doesn't command the attention of newer and trendier hotels. But it is wonderful for a quiet getaway and a reset for the new year! We will be coming back.
"1920's architecture comes to life"
Walked in to a 1920's iron and chandelier scene (some new but still fun to see). Clean, beautiful old building. Of course a building that age needs some adjustment and updating but it was clean and the staff was friendly. The location is close to fun downtown activities. I would stay again for certain. I did not use the bar or light breakfast options but the staff was great helping me with a razor and bandage for a cut. Furniture could use recovering as it was outdated and mildly worn in the lobby but the beds were comfortable and clean.
"Beautiful Historic Hotel"
Beautifully renovated and inviting decor with attentive staff who made our stay exceptional. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Close to Riverwalk and attractions. We felt like royalty in our king-size 4 poster bed and antique furnishings, but we also enjoyed the TV. The lobby was inviting and decked for Christmas. We will return next time to sample the Sapphire Lounge under construction. The hotel is a gem in the downtown area.

"Great value"
Close to Amelia arena, industrial mall and the airport! Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Great place with tons of character! Also has parking available which is very convenient. The only negative thing was how very cold the hotel was (outside of the room of corse) and there are no cots available if you need one.

"Classic hotel"
Loved the vibe of the classic hotel downtown. Short walks or drives to places. Stayed for a Bucs game and was a 10 min drive to the stadium. Would stay again, would be a great location for a small event like a wedding or birthday!
"Waste of money"
Remodeling. POS computer system down in the bar/restaurant for the last week. Very Limited staff. It's not a Palace. Hotel dining area was freezing. Complementary continental breakfast was sad. After day 1 of 3, I wouldn't go back. There was a boot print on the window sill next to my table at breakfast & the curtains in my room have some kind of food or blood on them

"Give this a 2nd thought"
High end prices..low end results. Crappy towels, only one wash cloth per room. Standard “chain motel” bedding, sheets and mattress. Only 4 small pillows for a king sized bed. No glasses for wine and cocktails, just 2 small styrofoam cups and coffee for the Kuerig. No hooks or towel bars to put the used crappy towels on. Oh well, it is what it is!!

"Beware...Moldy Room"
Unfortunately, this lovely hotel has been spoiled by lack of care. We were in room 1505. I have included pics of mold on the baseboard woodwork. Allergy sufferers, stay away. Too bad, because the hotel has a lot of history and character. It's also close to Tampa Theater. All I can say is check the room for moldy smell before unpacking your suitcase.

"Group Stay - November Wedding"
First and most importantly was Nancy Vargas who helped over the last 3 months to arrange our group stay. She did everything humanly possible to ensure that every detail and every request was accommodated. Everything went off perfectly. She's a real asset to the Floridan. We can't thank her enough for her help. Secondly, we received incredible hospitality from the front desk, starting with Jordan who was there on our first day and our last day. Professional and friendly and willing to help in any way she could. Most days during our stay Nicholas was on the front. Wow, this guy knows hotel hospitality. He made us feel like we were the only guests at the Floridan.
"Very pleased"
I truly loved this Hotel !!! I love the feeling of knowing that it was built in 1926 and how much character it has . And Nick at the front desk was extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to make sure all your needs are met . I know it's about to be remodeled but I'm really hoping they keep the same furniture in the rooms because it just gives you a feel of going back in time maybe fresh paint and walk in showers and new countertop in the sink area but really a claw tub would really match the style better . Truly think they should just focus on the outside of the building before even touching the inside. And please don't get rid of the mail shoot that's so unique absolutely love it ..

"Our One Year Anniversary Celebration "
My girlfriend and I celebrated our one-year anniversary at the Tampa Floridan Palace Hotel this weekend. Nicholas at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. He is personable, friendly, bright, efficient and exceptionally helpful. Nick offered information that assisted us in making decisions on food options and provided excellent suggestions! We even forgot to pack our corkscrew and Nick was kind enough to loan us one to use to open our anniversary bottle of wine. Also, Adam Schaffer, the front office manager, was accommodating and ensured we were given the room we had requested. A huge thank you to him for all he does to make our visits pleasant. Both Adam, Nick as representatives of the hotel are exceptionally responsive to requests and concerns of guests. We look forward to returning again for the next celebration!

"Native Tamp who eats at hotel resturant"
Beautifully restored hotel with no taxpayer money. Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Great staff. AND it is filled with history. Ex General Tinker was at the bar when Pearl Harbor attack was announced. He was the first general to die in WW II.

"Not Worth the Money"
I was on a work/leisure trip. Stayed the first few nights in a Hilton then moved closer to downtown to the "Premier" Best Western. I would if best classify this as a standard Best Western. The bed was hard as a rock with a spring sticking out and the bed was a thin blanket between two sheets. The bathroom had hair on the floor and the room had not been fully cleaned around the perimeter. The TV did not work half the time and the channels they offered were of poor quality. Our room did not get serviced. So for the price we paid we had to make our own bed and ask for more shower "bottles." They did not even have hand soap in the room. - Positive is the location, and the majority of the staff seemed to care about customer care.

We are addressing the other items in the room as we will be going through a complete renovation of our guest rooms and public areas. "Nice historic Hotel, but Owners need to pay attention"
My wife loves old hotels. This place was not bad but it still has a ways to go. Breakfast was a nightmare. They were constantly out of select food offerings. At one time they were out of OK, eggs, grits, bread and low on coffee. The drapes didn't close all the way letting light into the room. The hotel charges extra for parking but they do not have enough space. I had to wait for someone to leave to get a spot that I paid for. Bathtub grout needed to be cleaned. The coffee maker did not work…. Well, these are the highlights. Any 1 or 2 problems occurring wouldn't be bad but everything together was a bit much. Would I stay again, no. You may have better luck.

"Front desk Nicc/Nicholas"
Wife and I came for the weekend. Hotel met expectations but Nicc exceeded expectations. His professionalism and knowledge of the city is what we needed. He went beyond his duties to help us. His kindness and generosity will be what I remember of this hotel. I will make a trip back because of him.

"A great price for downtown with friendly staff!"
We loved staying at this historical hotel in downtown Tampa. The staff is wonderful, and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the bar. The decorations are nice, and it is easy to walk to many places downtown from the hotel. The only reason I won't give it 5-stars is that the walls are very thin. We could hear a dog barking nonstop in the room next to ours, and we had to move to a different room at 11 pm at night. However, the staff did help us move and were very polite about this. The only other thing we didn't like was the breakfast. The breakfast was very basic and could use more fresh options.

"Fun time, great location."
Nicholas is AMAZING! He will be my contact from now on. He ensured our room would be ready, and we were thrilled! We were in the heart of Tampa, blocks away from Amelie Arena. A few blocks on foot either direction were amazing restaurants/bars. Teens fave part? The Dominoes directly across the street. Hot and fresh!

"Classic Hotel"
We did a last minute check in. The man who checked us in (don't remember his name) couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. He helped us with the rate and upgraded us to a junior suite. The room were large and impressive. We have stayed in a number of nice hotels in Tampa and I easily recommend The Floridan over all of them.

"Best Tampa Trip Ever!!"
My husband and I booked a King Suite for the weekend. Upon arriving, we walked into the beautiful, Huge hotel lobby to check-in. The entire Front Desk Staff was very professional and welcoming. The hotel lobby is beautiful and our room was very large and comfortable. Crystal who is the GM went above and beyond for me and my husband to enjoy our 5th-year anniversary. Saturday night we enjoyed the Fashion/Art show that was held in the Lobby. We enjoyed dinner, drinks, and breakfast everything was on point I do not have anything negative to say about the hotel. From the entire staff, the cleanliness of my suite, the Bar, and the Restaurant I give 5 Stars wish I could give More. The Vibe and the energy were on point! I will definitely stay again and recommend everyone. Trust me, you will not be dissatisfied.

"Great Room, Bad Breakfast"
Great room but the bedding was too firm. Front desk staff was great. Breakfast wasn't good and the attendant would not restock coffee, OJ, and breads, which were all out. $30 for parking is ridiculous.

"Not Worth the Price"
No ice machine. Elevators scared all the customers and two required maintenance. HVAC extremely under par. Half the staff didn't even care to be there. Overpriced. Calamari was good though. Stiff bed.
Adam Schaffer, Guest Services / Front Office at Floridan Palace Hotel, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Hello thomassamuels73, I apologize if anything about your stay was less than exceptional. While we do not have ice machines on every floor, we do have a freezer with bags ice that is complimentary to all our guest on the lobby level. Thank you for staying at the Floridan Palace.
"Gatsby Style Tower, with advantages and drawbacks"
Not the type of hotel I normally stay at, but an interesting piece of history nonetheless. Located in the heart of downtown Tampa this vintage hotel presents a mix of the advantages and disadvantages of staying in a Gatsby-era high rise. The advantages.... Amazingly detailed lobby, amenities like an on-site bar, hair salon and mail counter at the front desk. Crystal chandeliers and opulent woodwork abounds. Vintage carved desks and bed frames in the rooms. Oh, and the mail slot by the elevators where you can drop a letter from the 14th floor and have it slide to the basement is pretty cool too. The disadvantages? A lack of creature comforts. AC units in the rooms were added recently and don't work particularly well. There was no AC in the lobby. And carrying a suitcase up the stairs to the lobby due to the lack of an elevator was a pain. The place has charm but is not as comfortable as a newer, modern hotel would be.
Adam Schaffer, Guest Services / Front Office at Floridan Palace Hotel, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Hello Chris, thank you for the review as we do value your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed our historic hotel. I want to apologize about the issue with the AC. I invite you to come back to experience our new Floridan Palace. Thank you for staying with us.
"Not the bed I was looking for.."
Location was great for our trip to Tampa Bay Comic Con and they had breakfast. (Didn't use the internet but they have it too). However, the floor might have been softer. The bed is so firm it's hard, a good night's sleep was near impossible and we had ants in our bathroom. I don't think I'd stay again.

"Nice place, location, but service lacking"
I would have written a glowing review, but the $400 electric toothbrush I left behind disappeared and I can't get that frustration out of my mind. Place was nice overall, and the service, but they just pitched my toothbrush maybe thinking it was not the kind of thing people come back for. Bummed.

"Choose another place"
The breakfast was the worst food I have experienced in a hotel. The elevator wait to get downstairs to eat was an 8 minute wait. Then we stopped at every floor from the 8th. It was completely full by the 4th floor. The room was nice but smelled musty and outdated. I would recommend staying anywhere else.

"Fantastic Stay"
Great place and great staff. Only needed a place for 1 night - someone had mentioned Floridan in the past so I called. Staff was polite, good rate so headed over. Nicholas greeted me, and took my reservation, and made sure I had everything I needed for the night. There was a small issue with the room, but Nicholas had the maintenance staff take care of it that instant. I will not stay anywhere else when in downtown Tampa. Great job!”

Stayed there for a night while attending a concert, the area was really pretty right in the middle of downtown so you could explore the area, I like the hotel vibe it had going on kind of like you went back in time very the shining Hotel, Front desk was friendly, breakfast was really good also
"Working in Tampa Office"
To try and keep this to the point, I work out of our Tampa office every other week so I needed a reliable place that provided a consistent level of service and amenities on an ongoing basis. I happen to be a fan of other early 20th century hotels such as the Waldorf, The Vinoy, the Don Cesar, The Duke (you get the point), so when I looked for a reasonably-priced, decent hotel in downtown Tampa, I was surprised to see a Premier Hotel in the area I wanted to be. On the first call, I was sold! It happen to be a last-minute trip so I did not have any accommodations planned AND it was approx 11:30pm when I called and spoke to a gentleman named Nico. He not only bent over backward to accommodate me (I was staying for 3 nights and they had little vacancy), he even asked if he could help me with my booking with the Floridan for all of my visits to Tampa. While the Palace could use a bit of a facelift, I've been staying there now for a few months, and while I have had conversations with many of their staff, I would suggest calling and asking for Nico!

"Wonderful centrally located hotel in Tampa"
We were visiting our son in Tampa and had read reviews of this hotel and it did not disappoint! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Tiffany in the bar was awesome. Hotel was walking distance to a lot of things going on in Tampa. The Riverwalk area was very nice. "Floridan Hotel"
This hotel is a must stay when you come and visit Tampa Bay. Nick at the front desk is a great employee and helped me with whatever I needed. Couldn't recommend this place anymore already! The Floridan Hotel is a top notch hotel with friendly employees and I will be coming back eventually.
"Great place to stay in Downtown Tampa"
Great staff, service, and location. Hot breakfast in morning was a good bonus. Close walking distance to many attractions in downtown Tampa. Nice bar with good food options. Convenient parking. Will stay again.
"Don't stay here!"
The room was crazy hot. The housekeeper in their infinite wisdom decided to turn off the AC and open the curtains in June… in Florida when they were done. At 11 pm when we got in it was about 90 in the room. Running the AC on max all night got it all the way down to 85 in the morning. I overheard other people in the stairs (did I mention they had one working elevator for a 19 story hotel?) saying the same thing. Parking is $28 for a non-secure street lot with a lovely array of Tampa's finest homeless residents. Total dump.

"Elegant, Historic & Centrally Located"
First off, this hotel is a part of the history of Tampa. You will feeling like you walked back into the 1920s.Plus, you are in the heart of Tampa. You are a short drive from The Riverwalk, Ybor City, The Aquarium, The Tampa Bay Lightning Arena, and a bunch of restaurants & bars.

"The Ladies"
Let me begin by saying I was disappointed in the hidden parking costs and the lack of ESPN and any basic cable in the room during Tampa Bays run for the Stanley cup. I I would never have given 4 stars if I hard not met Donna in the Bar, and enjoyed Angie's fine cooking. Mo at the front desk was kind, efficient and knowledgeable. These Ladies got you to 4 stars for their attention and personalized service. Well done.

"Great experience at a charming historic hotel "
My wife and I were visiting Tampa on short notice and were very pleased with our stay. The hotel desk staff was very friendly and extremely helpful, especially Nicolas who was very helpful with our check in. The hotel lobby is beautiful and our room was very large and comfortable. This is a charming historic hotel and we will definitely be staying here next time we visit Tampa.
"Old and marginally handicapped accessible."
We would never return to this hotel. Old and only marginally handicapped accessible. No pool. No lunch service in the restaurant. Insufficient parking by the hotel. The nearby Marriot was about the same cost. We only stayed there because it was the “wedding group” hotel.
"BW Premier Collection...I think Not"
I stayed at the Floridan Palace Hotel for a conference and yes, the service is great and the building gives the impression that this is something special…it's not. First, the rooms are larger than normal, but like the entire building, very dated and in need of update. The bathroom fixture in the shower was broke and in need of repair, the bedding is almost nonexistent, there is very limited internet and television channels, and last, no housekeeping service during the entire stay i.e. towels, bedding, cleaning, etc…I was here for a week. Bottomline, this a great location for the convention center, hockey games, Ybor City, etc. but at the end of the day it is a Best Western property in real need of a facelift.

"Stay Away"
We checked in on Sunday night, lobby was nice, but that is where it ended. We were put on the 17th floor. Walking to our room I noticed plastic draped in the middle of the hallway. Our room was right next to the plastic. A huge sign was hung saying there was no oxygen in the area do not enter at risk of death. What! Never in my life saw anything like that. I called the front desk to ask if there was a mold issue, was told no it's being painted. I looked again and no way it was being painted. Called front desk again and we were moved to the 12th floor. In the elevator we were with a gentleman from maintenance. He said your AC isn't working, as it was late in the day. I said no we were on the 17th and I beleive there is a mold issue. He said year, we had a leak. So the front desk not only lied to us, but put us in a room just steps from the quarantined area. As if that wasn't enough, the next morning we go downstairs for the complimentary breakfast. One

"Good location, perfectly acceptable"
Perfectly smooth 1 night stay for a concert. Easy check in, easy parking. We were on the 14th floor. Room was large and very clean but basic. Mini fridge. Mattress was fine, nothing to write home about. No pool or outdoor space. This old hotel has some Shining Vibes, the lobby was really pretty, especially the ornate ceiling. We enjoyed that they left old details intact like the mail shoot. Also the fastest elevator I've ever been in. Like seriously we were on the 14th floor and my husband and I didn't even have enough time to get handsy on the way up. Breakfast was fine. They offer fruit infused water in the lobby which I like but they need to muddle the berries when they do that lol Good price, would stay again.

"Historic flop"
Let me start off by saying the Lobby, ballroom, lounge are absolutely breathtaking. It truly feels like you're stepping back in time!! Unfortunately that's where the beauty ended. The room was very spacious but had so many flaws. The door was broke so it wouldn't lock, both phones did not work in the room so it made it nearly impossible to get assistance, the ironing board leg was broken, so trying to get ready for a charity event that my husband and I was attending was a challenge. The biggest problem/concern was the floor in the room was so uneven!! Talk about a hazard!! We tripped more times than we can count!! I'm shocked that no one has fallen and sued!! When front desk was noticed we were informed all the guest room floors are uneven… unbelievable!! It was nearly impossible to sleep due to a loud jackhammering noise that we heard in the room. Lastly, housekeeping needs to understand checkout time is at 11, not beforehand. I found it very rude to get a knock on the door at 9am asking if we were leaving. As I was walking out of the room for breakfast I was asked again if I was leaving, and again another knock on the door at 10:30. I really wanted to love the hotel but the rooms need a lot of work. If they put as much attention to detail as they did the common areas, the hotel would be top notch.

"Florida holiday"
My wife and i stayed 2 nights at the Floridian Palace. Nice looking building which must have been very classy in its day. Room was clean but very dated. Bathroom had a shallow bath and a shower connected to the taps with a plastic curtain. Breakfast was overcooked scrambled egg, cold sausage and toast and jam, no butter or spread. served on paper plates with plastic cutlery.I asked for butter for the toast on both mornings and was told they had run out.£161.00 per night. Including parking. All the staff were good but we would not recommend.

"Great customer service"
I am beyond satisfied with the level of professionalism displayed by Nicolas C. I observed his interaction with other guests who were ahead of me. When it was my turn, Nicolas C was knowledgeable and able to quickly fix the issue with my reservation. I felt valued as he gave his full attention to my problem. I am truly satisfied and look forward to staying at your hotel in the future.

"Good stay"
Stayed here for one night. The hotel has a great feel to it, with decent sized rooms. The price is also reasonable. It is also centrally located within lots of restaurants and shops. My only gripes were that the breakfast was mush and really could do with improving and the elevator makes a pinging sound on its way up/down when it passes every floor.
"Comfortable stay"
The hotel is great, the rooms are very nice. I would have liked it if there was a microwave available, but everything else was excellent. There was a safe, the refrigerator was cold. The bathroom was updated. Parking is not the greatest. You pay for parking and there are 2 lots, but the first lot is small, and the second lot is not well maintained. The last night of my stay, there was no parking available on either lot. All in all, the stay was good.
"Nicolas was a pleasure"
Nicholas was great he was the man at the front desk when I first walk in he was without a doubt the best employee the kind that's willing to go above and beyond If you are staying here I would ask for him. He was GREAT one of the main reasons I'll be staying here again !!
"Historic Hotel"
Let me start by saying I love to stay in historic hotels, they are unique and sometimes quirky. However, this hotel is well . . . the lobby is gorgeous and the ceiling in the lobby is beautiful. The front desk staff was not friendly nor welcoming, I felt like I was bothering them to check in. There are three elevators and only two of them worked. The elevators are small again to be expected at a 1925 historic hotel, however, I would expect all the elevators to work. The room was absolutely breathtaking, the view of the parking lot was a roll of the dice. The parking was in a very small lot with a fence around it where once you parked your vehicle you didn't want to leave because it was too tight to get out with the other cars and trucks parked. Parking price was outrageous to be across from a bus stop where the homeless hang out. The last major issue was when we were loading up on our last day our key card stopped working for our room at 10:30 even though check out was 11. When we went to complain there was another couple having the same issue. This would be a great experience and hotel if a few things were fixed.
"Good location"
The location to walk at the riverside is very good.Gor parking you must pay extra 22 USD /night.The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is a little bit poor and a lot of plastic. An average hotel for a not cheap price..
"Historic Art Deco, Good Location, Firm Beds"
Felt like we walked into the Gatsby movie. Beautiful lobby, ballroom, etc on bottom public levels. Walking distance to Riverwalk, Arena, shops, and eats. Clean room, but firm beds. TV broadcasted mostly 70s reruns, old gameshows, and news. Hot breakfast included make your own waffles, but eggs were fake, powdery, and bland. Closest thing to gluten-free was instant oatmeal. I would stay again. We walked everywhere, weren't in hotel much, slept okay on firm beds, and felt transported to the 20s when we were in the lobby areas. Fun diversion for a weekend.
"Fantastic hotel"
I loved this hotel so much. It has so much history and detail! The location is great -- was able to walk to so many places. The staff was so nice. Our room was spacious and had so much character. Will stay here again for sure!!!
"Don't go! Unless you like sleeping on a box spring!"
This was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When we got to the room, the bed looked like it was missing the mattress . The pictures show a big comfy bed. It looked and felt like a box spring. When we sat in the bed the sheets were damp. We called down, and they said they would have someone take care of it. A person came and handed us sheets. He said it was not his place to change them. The water took 20 minutes to get Luke warm. When I asked about the beds the first morning they said they were all hard! Well if you know they are hard and people complain fix it! The last morning we had to hurry and evacuate, why I don't know they have know explanation. The bar made the worst drinks I have ever had. The bar tender had absolutely no experience. But at least she admitted she just started! Give your staff training. I have no interest in ever coming back! Your hotel looks like it has potential, but you need to get it together! I would also bring back the mattresses you rented for the pictures! Everyone I spoke to says they were the worst!
"NEEDS HELP!"
We stayed there to attend a concert. The hotel is beautiful but in need of an update. We were given a room on the 14th floor. When we got to the room the key cards did not work. So waited for elevator again, back down to the front desk and the receptionist said "did you try to double up the key card." The locks are old she said. What? Never heard of this. She came up to the room to show us how to put both cards in the lock at the same time. Well, her trick did not work. Our key cards had obviously not been programmed correctly. They sent someone up with new keys. When we finally got in the room, we received a call, "can you come to the front desk, your credit card didn't swipe correctly, huh, why didn't you figure this out when we checked in? Another wait for the elevator and trip to front desk to straighten that out. The next morning during checkout time, only 1 of the 3 elevators was working. After waiting 30 minutes for an open elevator car, we gave up and hauled our luggage down 14 flights of stairs. After we got in the car, we realized we left a shirt and garmet bag in the room, so we called the hotel. They sent a staff member up to the room to check for it. They told us there was nothing left in the room. How is that possible, we checked out 15 minutes ago. We will never stay there again, awful experience with the staff and the whole facility needs updating.
"Exceeded expectations"
The Floridan Palace Hotel deserves way better than the 3.8 stars is has as of 3/12/22. I'm guessing that bad reviews that are old and not reflective of what's going on today are dragging down its score. Part of me hates to inflate the guest score too much... I don't want to have to compete with y'all next time I want to stay here! This place was charming. My room was nicely decorated and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. I was looking for a room that was less than a mile from Amalie Arena. There were shopping amenities (drug store, theater, coffee shops, restaurants) within a couple blocks of the hotel. I think the price was an exceptional value, so much so that I was ready to tolerate a 3.8* experience. What a nice surprise. I will be back!
"Stepping back in time"
The newly refurbished hotel in downtown Tampa will bring you back the Roaring 20's with its gorgeous lobby, setting areas and mezzanine overlooking beautiful chandeliers and painted cherubs. You will be just a few minutes walk from many bars, restaurants, museums and even Tampa's popular RIverwalk. You will return from your day to spacious and comfortable rooms with giant , beautifuly decorated windows many with spectacular views. The restaurant and bar on the ground floor are now reopened as well.
"Everything I hoped it would be!"
I've lived in the area all my life and have always wanted to stay in this historic hotel. I'm so glad I finally did! Everything was so beautiful, clean and economical. The staff was very accommodating and approachable.
"To say this place was dated in an understatement"
Positive, not noisy and comfortable mattress. Otherwise Dreadful. Sheets were worn, old woman's hair tie found on bottom sheet. Very old thin blanket.Old phone, all outlets old. Breakfast just carbs. Bacon tray empty, said all gone at 9.30 am but when I said it was also empty at 8.20 said we filled it up a few times. Felt like I was a refugee camp fighting for food. Food just open for all to touch. Syrup in uncovered gravy boat handled by hundreds. Generally not very hygienic
"Customer Service"
Floridan Palace Hotel is a historic hotel with close proximity to local events. The front desk service from Nick was greatly appreciated. New to the area of downtown Tampa, Nick guided us to an amazing time. Thanks again
"Nice building, good location, poor amenities,"
The building itself is lovely. The furniture in the room and the wood in the elevators is from another time. They don't decorate hotels like this anymore. It's very much from a hundred years ago. That was okay, but I expected amenities from this century. I called while on the road to ask about upgrading to a suite. I had to call three times until finally someone picked up with a working telephone. The first two times it wasn't possible to hear the other person. Third time's a charm. But when I ask the person about upgrading she told me I would have to pay $50 fee for checking in early. I never mentioned checking in early I only wanted to upgrade. When I got to the hotel they were glad to let me upgrade, however the suite I picked had a lousy View of the interstate. When I asked about moving to something with a better view nothing was available. I think the front desk was more interested in the big dollars for the suite than providing what I really wanted. I didn't see anywhere to charge electronic devices. The suite we stayed in was in good repair, but it appeared as if it had not been cleaned in a while. One of the televisions in the room was covered with a thick layer of dust. There was no cable TV. All they offered was over-the-air channels. No ESPN, no CNN, religious religious and shop-at-home networks. Even Motel 6 has cable TV. This place is supposed to be a palace? I don't think so. I asked about purchasing some aspirin. I was told the closest place would be four blocks away. Even little boutique hotels have a corner where they sell things like aspirin and shaving cream. Evidently not here although they would have the space to do so. Overall I would rate this as a two-star hotel.
"Hidden gem"
When booking our trip to Tampa, my partner and I had been cancelled on through Airbnb and the lazy minute, so we were in a bind. We quickly discovered Floridian palace, and gave it a try. They were able to check us in right away. The room was comfortable and had character. The staff was very friendly and i highly recommend this hotel. Special shout-out to Donna in the bar and Nicole at the front desk. Very kind people who made our trip enjoyable.
"Amazing Staff"
I am so delighted to share my experience at Floridan Palace Hotel. It started the moment my Brother and I walked in. Mo at the front desk was so Friendly and Amazing. Jordan and Pippin were also amazing. Jordan, thank you so much for helping my Brother with his Boarding Pass, You Rock. Then there was Terra and Donna at the Bar. Two amazing ladies that were very attentive, Friendly and great sense of Humor. Our Rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious. Actually every Staff member that we came in contact with were so nice and eager to help. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience. Stay Safe and Healthy! Emmie and Frank!
"AWESOME SERVICE!!!!"
I was so skeptical of reserving a room at this location because of the reviews regarding the temperature of the water for the shower. However, I am glad that I decided to take a chance. The ambience of the building was so
"D"
First time here at the floridan , Had a nice stay at the floridan , just want to say how helpful Nick it's people like Nick that make your trip comfortable. Appreciate your help, Thank you Nick your the man Scarabaggios
"Charm with a capital "C""
First, let me get it out of way that ice was only available at the front desk and they didn't clean my room until very late in the afternoon. On to the good stuff. Excellent, attentive staff (except the middle-aged man at the front desk at 5am - he was terribly indifferent), well-done ornate décor reminiscent of 1940's glamor and a simple but delicious hot breakfast while the cost of the room was very reasonable. Only issue is that downtown Tampa is a ghost town and feels a bit sketchy after dark.
"Beautiful Classic Hotel with service which matches its grandeur."
We stayed for an overnight after attending the wedding. The room we had was a corner suite, and it was spacious and comfortable. The bed was fantastically comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was very good, and there is plenty of room to spread out while eating. The restored Crystal Ballroom is absolutely beautiful, and the lobby is expansive and comfortable. You have to pay for parking and the lot adjacent to the hotel can get full late in the evening, though there are other nearby lots to use. It is within walking distance of the riverwalk and the art museum, as well as two colleges. We had a beautiful stay in this classic hotel.
"Cool historic hotel - simple and cost effective."
Solid hotel in downtown tampa. Historic building with a old school feel. It is owned by best western so the place is well run. Request an upper level room. Free breakfast is solid - sausage, waffles, coffee, cereal, juices. Parking is 22 per day amd next to the hotel. Solid option if you want a simple and affordable hotel downtown.
"Pretty and well centered"
The hotel is very pretty. The rooms are spacious. Our shower didn't work, but they fixed it within minutes. The staff was very friendly and worked with us. We rented 2 rooms and they were able to keep us together. Not a lot of channel selection on the TVs.
"Extremely well can't wait to visit again"
Nicholas Has marvelous customer service. This gentleman at the hotel handle his job with elegance every step of the way . I never felt more welcome to be at a hotel till today it was Valentine's Day and he went above and beyond my expectations Thank you Nicholas
"I felt like Royalty at this Landmark Hotel"
It was like stepping back in time when elegance and excellent customer service was given to an elderly lady traveling alone, Rhonda, the hotel manager took care of me like royalty. I will never forget her thoughtfulness. I will also recommend this wonderful Downtown Hotel to all my family and friends.
"Come for the History, Stay for the Sapphire"
A truly gorgeous, ornate, historic hotel with the sweet spirit and comfort of home. Check plus to the front desk. Very kind, efficient and welcoming. I've stayed in so many hotels across the country and most fail to realize the most important feature is not a refurbished staircase or a chandelier, but the folks giving it all, every single day to ensure the EXPERIENCE is top shelf. Nowhere does that hit as hard as it does when you step into the hotel's Sapphire Bar. Need your mood lifted? Your heart need to see legit smiles and laughter? The two best bartenders, and dare I say people, work in the Sapphire - Terra and Donna. Easy going, quick to throw out a one liner to make you smile, quicker to supremely get a perfect Old Fashioned or Bloody Mary in front of you, and lightning fast to turn any apprehensiveness you have to being right at home with two people that feel like longtime friends! These two are a breath of fresh air, kind of like biting into a York Peppermint Pattie. Hotels these days are filled with 'Lot Lizards' and people who have been there 'For a Minute' - If you don't want that, stay at the Floridian, not for the ornate or historic, stay for the Sapphire, or more specifically the truly spectacular Terra and Donna. True gems as rare as blue sea glass. Tip them very well. They deserve it. They are the ones that make this spot home. I'd pop my own rib out to be back there today! I'm already planning my return visit. You should too.
"Good Hotel, Great Bah!"
The hotel itself was definitely solid and as described. Hotel staff were all quite friendly and accommodating. Stars of the show, however, were found in the hotel restaurant and bar. I won't say I visited every bar in Tampa (although, Lord knows I tried) but by far the friendliest, most engaging and gregarious bartenders I encountered were right here at the hotel. Do not visit here without stopping in for your favorite beverage and a cup of sunshine served by Donna and Terra!
"Historic hotel with updates"
This is an old, old hotel that has been updated to include the necessities of today. The decor has the feeling of a old but very clean hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast seemed to be a step up from powdered eggs in most BW during Covid restrictions. It was a very pleasant stay in downtown and within walking distance of the Riverwalk.
"Great historic hotel with great location!"
Super cool elegant hotel with great location. Lobby was amazing with vintage and historic feel. Our room was a corner room and was huge with a very nice bathroom and shower. Perfect stumbling distance to participate in the Gasparila party! Elevators were terribly slow, room temperature was difficult to control, parking was $22 per night and drinks at the bar were silly expensive.
"Nick and Jarmane were fantastic"
The hotel is a bit older (e.g., phone booths on each floor), but it is a great value for money. The front desk staff though were EXTREMELY welcoming and definitely made a previously hectic trip much easier for us. Highly recommend due to the service from Nick and Jarmane.
"Beyond Expectations"
Not only is the Floridan Hotel beautiful and historical, the staff was welcoming and the service from Nick and Angelica was above expectations. We were helped by other staff members as well upon entering the reception area. Ice buckets were filled and the staff serving the amazing variety at the hot breakfast was very accommodating as well! The late hours of the times the hot breakfast were served was also a bonus!
"Floridian Palace- rich in history and hospitality"
Jordan is hands-down the nicest, sweetest, very attentive person upfront . Jordan helped us with everything- parking, fresh blankets, and navigation. We could not have asked for a better host and place to stay during our endeavors in Tampa. Staying here at Floridian during Gasparilla 2022 was that much better thanks to Jordan. Thank you Jordan and staff for making our stay memorable.
"Floridian hotel"
Great service!! Angelica and Nicholas at the front desk were amazing and accommodating. We messed up our booking and they fixed no questions asked!!!! We received a complementary bottle of wine and a wonderful staycation. We have stayed at the Floridian mutiple times over the last 10 years, anniversaries ect but this by far was the best stay out of all of them. The bar was just reopened due to covid, it was clean, fast service and fun staff. The Floridian hotel is doing it right, best stay and customer service in downtown Tampa. Thanks a million for a great experience. The Wilsons
"90th Birthday Party Event"
We held our mother's 90th Birthday Party Event at this hotel on January 8, 2022. The hotel staff was very friendly, polite and efficient. They commented that there rooms were nice and comfortable. The food was supplied by the hotel new chef. We had seared chicken breast and grill porkchops served to our guest. The chef cook two very delicious plates of food. I would say the grilled pork chop was my favorite and tasted just as good as a high end steak. I would definetly recommend giving this hotel consideration when planning an important event.
"Best Hotel Experience"
Called several times, phone was answered each time, polite and professional. Upon our arrival we called for parking info which was relayed with charm and enthusiasm. I approached the front desk and was watmly greated by Nicholas who introduced me to the rest of front staff Angelica and Jermaine. Nicholas was very engaging, friendly and treated me like a long lost friend. Once I checked in Nick assisted with showing me where the luggage carts were located and explained to my eife where parking on site was located. After being treated so warmly and the warmth we were treated with along with other guest checking in my wife and I extender our stay. This is in pure thanks to the overall treatment that Nicholas showed us. Thank you again.
"Should be condemned"
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Other than a couple of cool historic features, this hotel is not fit to house guests. The hotel has the worst smell, a combination of mold and halitosis, it's quite shocking when you first enter. Staff was hit or miss, they don't follow instructions. The issues in my room (both phones broken, no drain stopper in sink, only hot water available in sink) were not fixed despite numerous requests Blood stains on the wall in the bathroom. No cleaning done underneath or around the bed. Bed is comparable to sleeping on the floor. No comforter provided, only top sheet and old blanket from the closet. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $80 per night to stay somewhere livable.
"Too old, too decrepit, too dysfunctional to accommodate guests"
Blessed with impressive architectural details thehotel is stuck in the 1950s: dry rot on window sills, single pane windows let every street noise in, no hot water in the mornings, snail internet service, bathrooms run down by heavy and decades of use, restaurant closed, the breakfast ‚ buffet‘ a very sad plastic plate, styrofoam cup affair. No mask wearing by staff. Staff is very nice, but helpless ( „the manager is gone snd i just work the front desk“). The $15.00 chicken sandwich is made from canned chicken. Many improvements are necessary to justify the rate.
"Stay elsewhere"
No waters on site. Was told to go across the street to Domino's Pizza to buy water. There was no hot water in the morning for a shower and the bed felt like hard cardboard. The building itself and the decor is very nice but it is certainly not an upscale hotel like advertised.
"Customer service"
The customer service at this location is top notch. I previously have written a review on another platform about my previous stay here, all the staff here is fantastic! But, I'd like to specifically acknowledge Jarmaine, Nicholas & Jordan for going above and beyond with their customer service with me on this current trip. Thank you!
"Great Experience"
In town for a funeral and the staff was so caring. The property is so beautiful. I absolutely love the vintage furnishings in the rooms and all around the hotel. I was greeted by multiple staff members, the front desk thanked me for my membership with Best western. Angelica was super sweet and helpful, she looked up directions for me and gave me a few recommendations for restaurants near by. The manager Nicholas clearly cares a lot about his property and staff, he was very friendly and got me a few extra shampoos. Breakfast was tasty and I loved my king suite. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Tampa, and it was only a five minute Uber from the airport.
"Helped my grandmother when she needed it"
Nick, Jarmaine & Angelica went above and beyond for us. My grandmother had her 90th birthday today and we celebrated in the hotel ballroom. Her eyesight (as well as her two sisters with her) is failing and they needed more light in the room to see each other. I asked if there was anything they could do at the front desk and they gave up their own office lamp for them. That is excellent service and I sincerely appreciate it. Thank you so much. Doyle Family
"HORRIBLE"
The worst place of staying and employment. The management is horrible, rude and all their care is to get praised for them self while they leave their employees to cover their crumbs. Understaffed and everything brakes easily. Elevators don't work, termites, mold and no hot water. Undercooked food and long line. Never appreciate anyone as long as they get themselves cover. Don't stay too here. Tampa has so much more Jams to offer. The way the employees are treated is horrible unless it's family. They would do anything to take the stage from you when you help people and even leave you high and dry with minimum employment on your shifts.
"Downtown Tampa"
Great location central to all of downtown Tampa, just needs a little more maintenance and housekeeping effort. While we were there the elevator was not working well. When it did work, it was great. There's no ice unless you go to the front desk!
"Exceeded my Expectations. At this Hotel the customer is priority #1"
All my interactions with the staff at the hotel made me feel important as a guest From check in to checkout I was pleased with their service. Thanks you to the whole team. This hotel is a must to stay at in the Downtown Tampa Area. I also herd of some upgrades they'll have by next year. I'm interested to plan another visit to the city. Thanks Chrystal, Vashawn , David, Angelica. Some of the names I remember.
"Not worth the price"
No bulbs in the lights, odor, no comforter on bed, safe did not work, no TV remote, bed hard as a rock we left at 6 am New Years Day because we were miserable would have been cheaper to Uber home since we are locals.
"Wonderfully bonkers historic hotel."
A genuine historical gem of a hotel, with a jaw dropping lobby and packed full of original furniture and features. The whole thing is wonderfully bonkers and it has an old world last days of the Raj feel to it. The staff are an eclectic mix, stoically polite and helpful yet not able to get things to work quite as they should. The clientele aren't sure if they're staying at Fawlty Towers or The Ritz. Nevertheless it's a great place to stay for a few days and if they iron out the issues then expect prices to rise. Recommended.
"Beyond Basic and Add on Parking"
I had limited expectations for a 'classic' Florida hotel, but was even more disappointed by an undisclosed parking fee of $22 a night (ma'am this is downtown). Downtown is sketchy after sunset and no reason for $22 a night add on other than gouging. The rooms have a bed as hard and uncomfortable as a prison bunk - just sheets, no shams or frills here. Shop around folks, there is certainly better.
"EXCEPTIONAL VISIT!!!"
This hotel is SPECTACULAR!!! From the moment I stepped into the lobby I received an "ultra warm" greeting from Elena who treated me like royalty! The lobby and room were both STUNNING!! I absolutely loved the nostalgic, "Humphrey Bogart film-ish" feel! The beauty and cleanliness of the hotel coupled with Elena's and Vashawn's professional and friendly service makes the Floridan Palace a touch of "Heaven on earth"!!
"Gorgeous hotel!"
Overall, this is a gorgeous hotel. Our only complaint was that the breakfast was a little skimpy and there was no top sheet on the bed. Also, there appears to be a homeless camp across the street, but they were quiet and didn't cause any problems.
"Anniversary get away"
Angelica at front desk is an exceptional employee. all staff very friendly. Breakfast needs improvement. Thank you for the wine! It was a very nice surprise for our Anniversary. Hotel is beautiful, glad they are keeping it at the originial grandure. Very close to Tampa General, plus for dr visit. Bed was a little firm, but not terrible.
"A Diamond In The Rough"
My buddy and I stayed at this hotel for six nights. The stay was amazing from check-in to check-out. Warm greetings were received by the staff at the front desk. Crystal and Angelica are Super Cool and friendly. They saw to all of our needs without hesitation; in addition, helped me in celebration of my buddies birthday. (THANK YOU SO MUCH Crystal and Angelica!!!) This hotel was one of the more affordable hotels at the time of reservations, but do not let the price fool you. It is an older building, but well maintained. The real wood trimming is beautiful. The lobby is amazing, like stepping back into the 1920s... There is a workout facility, bar and a lot of room for work, for those of us that work remotely, in the lobby/dinning area. The rooms are clean, plenty of hot water during showers and great water pressure. The beds are springy, but still received a good night sleep each night. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown Tampa. Plenty of restaurants and bars within the surrounding blocks, a five minute walk to the river walk and a short walk (20 min) to Ybor City (great party spot). Tampa is a good party, especially being that most bars close at 03:00 hrs. It is easy to get to the hotel from the airport, take the #30 bus to downtown; and it is only $2 compared to an Uber which is approximately $35. And easy to get to the football stadium, take the #7 bus ($2). Public transportation is convenient from the hotel, to most anywhere in Tamps. Overall, this is the hidden gem that you put on your "Favorites" List.
"Amazing Visit"
Spent two nights at this wonderful downtown hotel - the staff were amazing - A special shout out to Angelica at the Front Desk - I had a couple of issues which she rectified on the spot - I would definitely stay here again if I visit Tampa in the near future - classy hotel
"Superb customer service in a very historic hotel!"
I had the privilege of getting a group reservation for my company. It was a last minute business meeting and I knew finding a hotel for our group wasn't going to be easy. Luckily, Crystal and Anjelica work at the Floridan Palace because they went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, convenient, and issue free! They even helped us book a reservation for all of us at the very cool Colombia restaurant with less than 24 hours notice! I cannot thank them enough for providing us an excellent stay! We will be back and we highly recommend others stay here for their group meetings as well!
"Great Stay"
A wonderful old, ornate hotel in downtown Tampa. We loved our room, and the nostalgia of the hotel in general. The staff, in all areas of the hotel, were very nice, friendly, and customer oriented. The night we stayed several events were going on in downtown. We liked that we were able to park at the hotel and walk to dinner as well as The Tampa Theater. And yes, the beds are firm, but we found them very comfortable.
"Classic Historic building with Great Hotel services"
This is not your usual Best Western. This is a classic restored piece of Tampa History. Its a beautiful building from the 30/40's... Run by the Best Western Company. A must stay when coming to Tampa. Rates are good . The area has great bars and Restaurants. If you want an urban weekend this is the place.
"Nice room"
The room was nice and clean and fully remodeled and up-to-date. It was quiet and we were able to rest peacefully after the hockey game.We were surprised at the bar a restaurant was not open. Apparently hotel is going through an owner change
"Beautiful, historic, spacious"
The Floridan Palace is beautiful! Staff was amazing and extremely attentive. I asked for additional items twice and never had to wait, as they promptly delivered to our room. Rooms are large, clean and very quiet. No folks running around making noise all night here!
"Vintage, cozy and well-kept hotel"
A stylish and vintage hotel with a lovely palace-like lobby. We liked our room on the 18th floor with a king size bed. We stayed one day (Rolling Stones concert) so can't appreciate the housekeeping service, but our room was extremely clean and had all the necessary accessories.
"Tampa's Best Kept Secret!"
We've stayed on River walk, off and nearby bay sites too and this hotel is the best value for the location! The decor and architecture are stunning, the staff was amazing and service far exceeded any we've received elsewhere since the pandemic started! KUDOS TO ALL!!!! And although the restaurant and bar were closed, you can easily walk or uber nearby. If you love new and flashy not for you, but if you love clean, spacious and beautiful rooms then the Floridian Palace is for you!
"Historic, Beautiful, & Priced Right"
The Floridan is a gorgeous historic property with well appointed rooms and a friendly, helpful staff. It is conveniently located just to the northeast of most downtown attractions. There are a dozen passable restaurants within a half mile walk and several best of Tampa eateries just a bit further. At nearly half the price of the Hilton down the road, you won't be disappointed.
"Family and Friends for a lazy summer weekend at the Floridan Palace"
It is a beautiful grand old hotel that has been nicely restored and a great value. Only unfortunate thing is neither the bar nor the restaurant is open and I didn't get the impression that there is much interest in reopening either in the near future. As we had 6 couples coming into town during all hours, it made it tough to find a gathering place other than in one or another's room. Fortunately, there are many very nice restaurants in close proximity. The Floridan is an excellent value and a great place to fritter away a lazy weekend with friends and family and experience Downtown Tampa and the Riverwalk
"Historic and Gorgeous"
I love historic places and this one was gorgeous! The staff was welcoming everything went off without a hitch. Room was beautiful, the bed was comfy. We were very happy with our stay! I would love to go back when everything is up and running or back to the caliber it was pre CoVid. The dining area looked beautiful, wish I would have been able to experience it!
"Extraordinary Historic Hotel!"
It was an awesome hotel experience, built in 1926, it felt as I was stepping into the 20th century! The staff was nice the lobby was great and the room was good! If you stay here, you will love it!!!!
"LIKE A PRINCE IN A PALACE"
This IS, by far, the most incredible-looking and luxurious Best Western Premier hotel I have ever stayed - and I've been staying in them since the 70's. The price I paid (as a Rewards member) was UNDER $100 and yet, I felt like I was a prince in a palace. The room was incredibly huge (on the 18th floor) and the views were incredible. As clean as any hotel can be and you can spend half your time there just "touring" the lobby and other spaces. Truly amazing! I would pay $300 to stay here again, especially once the restaurant, bar and lounges re-open after this virus.
"On a downward spiral..."
I stayed at this property with my wife on a one-night Saturday night visit to Tampa during Spring Break. From the second we pulled up I knew this was going to be an interesting visit. The check-in lane to get out of traffic in front of the hotel was totally full with cars. I parked on the side of the hotel at another entrance for check-in and unloading. This entrance was marked with signs stating that the entrance was locked after dark and to use the Cass St. entrance. Well, the entrance was actually open - on the ground floor directly abuting the elevator lobby. While there were security cameras, anyone coming in off the street had access directly to all floors of the hotel. Plus, the weight room door was propped open with the lights off. Definitely a setup for a mugging if I ever saw one. One of the windows in the doors was shattered, although still in-place with the hotel logo on it. Not a good first impression. Parking was charged at an additional $21 and change for self park on the hotel lot... daily. Not detailed well on the Best Western website. No valet service on Sat night. AND... the cars that were parked at the front of the hotel when I arrived were all still there late. Not moving. So much for guest convenience in being able to check in. No one was towed, although the property was posted for both time limits up front and towing signs. I took the elevator to the lobby and checked in. One clerk was on duty - I never saw any other evidence there was additional personnel on-site except for the staff in the street bar, which was rocking to the max being Spring Break. Face mask signs were posted as being required, but this was not at all enforced. The clerk checked me in, we moved from the car to the room, and upon arrival we found that... the AC was not cooling. I went down to the desk and had the clerk assign another room, moved our luggage to this room, and at that point the AC was found to be good. I searched for an ice machine on my floor (7) and came up with nothing. When I returned the keys for the first (bad) room to the desk I asked the clerk to direct me to an ice machine, he ended up just getting me ice from a nearby machine in an employee area. Apparently this property does not have ice available on the guest floors? One other note, I had opportunity to watch the evening desk clerk in action for a while, only one clerk on duty for a property of this size required him to perform multiple functions simultaneously. Quite frankly, the poor guy was running his posterior off! The management should have had assigned a second clerk during Spring Break in the evening hours... but they didn't. Either they didn't have the foresight or they were trying to be thrifty and have one clerk do everything. SHAME on this management company. To his credit, the clerk was very polite and personable given his very intense workload. Good employee. Now, on to some other issues. The hotel was built in 1927, renovated in 2013 and was restored and modified to semi-current standards. While the renovation was successful it was very apparent there were maintenance issues abound at this property. Over 50% of the bulbs in the ornate light fixtures lining the hallways and in the rooms were burned out & needed to be changed. One elevator was out of service in the lobby out of three, doors open and taped off. The light bulbs out gave the place a bit of a shadowy, "Haunted Mansion" appearance. Trying to contact the desk late night for a wake-up call was a challenge. I called no less then three separate times before I was finally able to speak to a clerk. Wake-up call button on the phone, no answer after 12 rings minimum. Front desk button - No answer after 20 rings. Dialing operator - no answer. I resorted to calling in from the outside on my cell phone, no answer until appx. 20 rings, clerk apologized and said she was away from the desk. I was one step away from putting on clothes & going to physically go down to the lobby, or as a corollary calling Tampa PD to have them do a well-being check on the clerk. BUT.... so much for the wakeup call in the morning, it never arrived and I missed a breakfast engagement as a result. A number of positive things about the property, it is accredited as a Best Western premier collection location, the rooms were reasonably clean and stocked ok - although only two bath towels per room were placed. The furnishings in the rooms are fairly ornate and the beds were in good condition, although the mattresses must have been the Anvil brand as they were very, very unyielding. I could only sleep part of the night in the bed before my back was causing indescribable pain, I slept the rest of the night in the room chair. TV was a mixture of antenna and local programming. I found the shower in the morning fine with decent pressure and temperature, although my wife commented the temperature and water pressure with her seemed both to be uneven. Now, for checkout. I noted the problems with the bad initial room on check-in as well as the inability to contact a clerk at night and the missed wake-up call. I was informed by a manager that clerks did not answer the phone when guests were present at the desk. Fine, unless you're calling for an emergency or having issues in the room. The cure would have been a second clerk, which this management did not provide. For the wake up call being missed, the manager inquired as to whether my ringer was on in the room, which I responded "YES". He did not apologize or give a satisfactory explanation on why this occurred - or even apologize on behalf of the hotel. Further, I received the distinct attitude that I was annoying the manager who was not at all warm and receiving to me discussing these issues (as he was doing something with the desk clerk). Yes, this is a 94-year old historic property and a downtown business hotel (with restaurants closed due to Covid... i.e. no food on property except maybe in the street bar, & no pool or hot tub). That doesn't excuse poor attitude. OH, btw watch your head while walking on the sidewalk in proximity to the building - news reports late last year documented bricks falling out of the top floor overhang and hitting a car - and almost braining a person. In summary... Yes this is a historic property and I'm glad I had a chance to stay here... once. Never again will I darken the door of this establishment given my overall experience on this stay. Fix the attitude of management, change the light bulbs, improve the security situation and fix the broken glass, and maybe this hotel would come off a bit better. The rear-view mirror is where this place belongs!
"SEEKING OLD FLORIDA?"
This is one of those properties you hope you can stay at one day. The grand old Dame of Tampa was everything we had hoped for. Stop and listen you can almost hear the voices of the past. Our room was huge, with lots of natural light. Clean and very comfortable. We were there during the lock down, but that was Ok, because we got to really study the building. Just a few short years ago this building was slated to be tore down. The Owner has a vision, we are so excited for the Best Westerns to add this to their portfolio of properties. Thank you Angelo for your hospitality.
"Visiting Tampa"
Visiting daughter in Tampa. She suggested the Floridan. Right next door to her (apt) building. Very convenient location. Clean, quiet, large room. Staff members helpful. Restaurant and bar not open, but not a problem for us. Will stay there again. Excellent value.
"Best stay ever"
Chris was very helpful he went beyond his job to help me with everything I need the rooms were very nice and clean and a great view from the upper floors I recommend everyone that visits Tampa to stay at the Floridian palace
"Floridian Palace Hotel"
Excellent hotel and staff. Truly felt like I was in a palace. Dining room and amenities were shut down because of Coved, but we enjoyed our stay despite that! Very clean! The front desk staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the area.
"Don't judge a book by it's cover!"
We stayed at this hotel when we went to a football game. When we pulled up I was a little nervous...but when we went inside it was gorgeous. It is hard to imagine the amount of work that went into this place when it was built. Due to covid the restaurant and bar were closed, so that was disappointing. The staff was nice and accommodating and parking was simple. It was also within walking distance of the Riverfront walk and many other sites and restaurants. We would stay again.
"Unrealized Potential"
Photos and the hotel's website depict this as a first-rate luxury hotel; the Grand Dame of days gone by. On the surface, this is what it is -- step inside and imagine the opulence of fine dining and accommodations at the turn of the century. The front desk associate was very kind and welcoming, acknowledged my Best Western Rewards elite status and called my room to follow-up shortly after check in. Unfortunately, that was the only memorable part of a guest experience that fell far short of expectations. The bar and restaurant were literally dark (closed), giving the grand marble lobby a funereal ambience. There was nothing in the room suggestive of Best Western's "Enhanced safety protocols " - no sanitizer or wipes, wrapped TV remote, offer to provide ice, coffee, additional toiletries, etc. (Like most hotels, daily housekeeping has been suspended during Covid). While the furniture was ornate, the room had an overall stripped-down feeling; bed and bath linens were on par with a cheap motel - even below those in a standard BW or SureStay (BW's economy brand). They nary even bothered to "auto-program" the TV channels, leaving the guest to flip through dozens of blank channels (Yes, this is far from tragic; perhaps even petty, but it clearly shows a lack of attention to detail...in a first class hotel, indifference to details is the difference between good and great.) Given the hotel's location in the "less glamorous" part of downtown, some manner of key access on the exterior or elevators would have increased the feeling of security - particularly when I never saw more than one hotel associate on duty at any given time. In all fairness - this would be a decent choice for a mid-scale downtown hotel stay (think Ramada or Quality Inn), but was sorely disappointing in such a glamorous historic building and not at all what I'd expect from BW's top tier offering. While Covid-19 has not been kind to the hotel business, I travel 150+ nights a year and have seen properties on all price levels adapt to the situation; this one has not and has diminished the credibility of the BW Premier brand. I honestly hope BW will take notice and either raise the bar or re-flag the Floridan as a SureStay.
"Classy "
Step back in time and enter the Floridan Palace Hotel. Crystal chandeliers, the sapphire lounge, brass hand rails and extra large rooms. Great views of the city and free parking if you can find a spot. Bed was huge but did not come with anything but a sheet. Great value on NYE.
"Mail Call"
Fantastic room on the 16th floor and amazing view of DT Tampa and can even see the water. Comfortable king size bed. Clean hotel and beautiful lobby. Not much going on, all bars and restaurants were closed on property, hardly saw anyone. Walkable location, parking is a bit tough late night. Step back in time with decor and even a US Mail slot.
"The best place ive stayed in very long time"
This us very historic but looks new completely redone ,,,, stayed 14th floor woowww LOVED IT !!! EVERYTHING WAS GREAT ONLY THING WAS do to pandemic restaurant not open ,,,,, i will stay again very soon if you want something different in a good way stay here
"Fake Room Decor"
The main floor is GRAND, except the bar and the restaurant is closed. No Ice, no room service, no valet. Price is very reasonable because they make the place look like a palace, but unfortunately it is run on a skeleton crew. There are also no blankets in the bedroom.
"Treated like a common thief"
The staff at this hotel seem to lack a moral compass. While staying there, I was approached by a staff member and accused of not paying a restaurant bill of $55, but I had not eaten in their restaurant. Someone had simply signed my room number on the tab and left. I asked to see security camera footage to show them that it was not I who had done this, but they refused. I didn't feel comfortable staying there, so I left and checked into another hotel. When I returned the next day to collect a few of my belongings that I had forgotten in my haste to leave, they said they had put everything of mine into the garbage. Nothing was left in their Lost and Found for me to retrieve. This is not only unethical, but illegal as well. I have tried to contact them numerous times, but they simply hang up on me or do not return my emails. I don't know how the Floridan management staff can sleep at night, after treating one of their guests this way, but this is my story.
"Remarkable relic of a better time"
Faded elegance. This place is beautiful. The rooms are large and the furniture is not made in China. It has most of the comforts we associate with modern hotels, but none of the paralyzing sameness characteristic of newer properties. The dining room and bar area are elegant and peaceful. The lobby is straight out of a Bing Crosby or Fred Astaire movie. Others have complained about noisy plumbing, paucity of hot water and hard beds. These are trivial matters compared to the beauty and other advantages of this place.
"GREAT HOTEL"
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in January 2020. Our room was a king sized one which was extremely spacious. The hotel was built in the early 1900's and is designated as a National Register of Historic Place. Nick from the front desk is an amazing asset at the front desk.We had several conversations and his knowledge helped us to navigate Tampa better than we would have on our own.We also met George from the front desk and are of the opinion that he too is a great asset for the hotel. They were both kind and accommodating. They allowed us to check in much earlier than the usual check in time. The hotel is old. You can tell by the puffiness in certain places, but that was not a deterrent for us. However, since we were not there to judge architecture, they get a pass. Do not let the 4 stars I gave them deter you if you plan on staying there. Their rates are good, they have a good front desk, and the cleaning crew did there thing well.I deducted one star for the worst hamburger I have ever had. It was salt to the point that you forget that it is beef. I do look forward to going back there some time in the future.
"Lunch at the Palace is exquisite"
This restaurant should be full every day. It combines incredible food with a beautiful atmosphere, so you feel like royalty. The grouper was delicious, and the crystal chandeliers are jaw dropping. This is really a treat for lunch or dinner
"Palace of Tampa"
I always enjoy stopping here for Lunch and Dinner. Business associates & guests from out of town are ALWAYS Impressed. Great food and Service. The menu has staple items I always order yet from time to time I try the daily specials. I've never been disappointed.
