"Short Stay"
Fantastic Hotel, convieniently located within the the main transit routes to and from Newcastle. Disability acceassabilty is good, staff are very pleasant, well turned out. Car parking is off street. Due to current government guidlines restaurant is closed, but there are local amenities if you should become hungry. There is currently a one way system in place within the hotel, and is easily signposted for access abd egress. The rooms are pleasantly decorated and the beds are super comfy. In summary, i would recommend this hotel if you are passing through this area. Super.
"Fantastic Hotel and Staff"
I stayed here with my family on 26th September. The welcome could not have been more friendly and the helpfulness of all the staff was exemplary all weekend. Lovely Italian restaurant as well. Exceptional value for money. Highly recommended.
"Simple clean rooms, great service, great food!"
Visited for a week on business at the end of the first COVID lockdown and was not expecting much. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel seemed newly decorated to smart but economical, minimalist standard. The staff were fantastic; a credit to the north-east. Victoria (Vicky) - who I believe was the manager (or should be!), went above & beyond to ensure our team had everything we needed, and I have never met anyone more suited to a career in hospitality as she had a genuine enthusiasm for the job. The standard of food in the restaurant was a real surprise, being as good as any I have sampled in much more prestigious venues.
"Worth a stop"
Stayed for 2 nights ,could not fault this hotel. Greeted by Victoria[Vicky] who was a smashing girl and a credit to the hotel ,all staff very friendly .Breakfast full English. Ate in the Restaurant both nights ,Food good, nice atmosphere. Would stay again when in area
"Good size family room"
Booked for the night to visit Beamish museum. I booked a family room which is probably the biggest family room we have ever stayed in. The bathroom was big and the shower was excellent. Only downside no opening window which made the room very warm and stuffy. Due to covid the breakfast is very limited which is a disappointment but nothing the hotel can do. All other covid measures are in place, 1 way systems and hand sanitizer etc. We booked a table in the hotel restaurant Rustica for our dinner, Theresa was very welcoming and friendly and a credit to the place. The food was nice and very reasonably priced.
"Top stay"
Recently stayed at the hotel along with some work colleagues and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel didn't look too appealing on first sight but once inside was pleasant enough with great rooms and shower facilities. We were greeted by the hotel manageress vicky who not only put many hrs working tirelessly throughout the week but catered for all your needs going about her job with a constant smile also making sure we were packed of to work with a breakfast to go to keep us going until the evening where we would then eat from the very good menu on offer with great food to match. The staff were very good all round and provided a great stay during the covid era and look forward to another visit
"Two night stay - never again"
Booked for a Friday and Saturday night to attend a wedding. Firstly, website says Double Bed, be warned it is NOT a double bed but just slightly bigger than a single. The rooms are quite small, I was told this was a care home previously, wandering around you can now see this........ We visited the restaurant on the Friday evening and the food was great. The breakfast is not so good, clearly cooked beforehand and heated up, dry bacon, dry sausages , luke warm has browns........ Went to make toast and there was one slice of white bread left, when I asked the waitress if there was anymore white bread, the reply was no just brown.... the staff in the restaurant love sitting at the bar and food behind the bar, perhaps spending time assisting the customers would be a better idea, I went to the bar to give my order as no one bothered to come to the table, and even when they wrote it down, our food was wrong, the waitress blamed the chef. The door locks are dodgy as well so be warned. And lastly it would seem the hotel have some long term residents who happily sit in the bar and lounge with their takeaway meals and some of them lounge around in their dressing gowns !!!! Very noisy hotel, would not recommend.Overpriced , should be a budget hotel
"Exceeded of expectations"
The place is absolutely immaculate. The rooms are spacious and such good value. From outdoors it doesn't look appealing but as you go through the doors you will immediately be impressed. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Its ideal for families too with lots of great places around to visit.
"Family trip"
Having recently visited the hotel with my young family, what can I say! What a delight, from arriving to leaving. The staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The rooms were spotless, beyond clean infact. The bedding and towels were fresh and clean. And the price... brilliant, affordable and really reasonable. I couldn't reccomend it any more. Many thanks.
"Clean but a few issues"
On first impression the place is lovely and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was fantastic, we stayed in a few hours killing time before a wedding. Reasonably priced. The room we were in was small. Lovely but small. To give an idea, I'm 5'6, size 12, my partner is 6' and medium build. Neither of us slep at how small the bed was. I'm sorry, but it was a glorified single, even the blanket made it look bigger. And noisy from the banging passage door. Upon returning from our wedding (in the midst of storm Dennis!) the front door was locked, our key didn't open it, the side door was locked. We weren't given any other information how to get in. A sign to say use main door after 10pm. So back we go. Still locked, no night porter, no bell, no phone number to ring, so we stood 15minutes in terrential rain banging on a door until someone let us in. Not the best experience to have.i think having the night porter also be the barman and chef/takeaway guy, was always going to impact on some customer experience somewhere.Too mnay balls to juggle(I hope he has all the hygiene certs and not just winging it) Breakfast was lovely again, but I think the staff made it feel inexperienced as they were even asking each other questions in front of us, like we were supposed to know what's for breakfast or where the menus are!? It all feels very new and inexperienced in my opinion, I think it could be great if small changes made.
"One nights stay"
Stayed for one night whilst visiting Beamish. I have to agree with a lot of reviews. That for all it's a lovely clean and friendly hotel. The 'small' double bed let it down... would definately stay again if I can be guaranteed a proper double bed!
"Alright"
My client had booked the room. The staff are very welcoming. The room was clean, except a little taken back by how poorly the cleaning staff left the room for my second evening. The bed wasn't as well made, the cup and glass I had used were left in my bathroom sink, and whilst I had missed a spot around the sink after a shave, it was still there when I got back. Towels were neatly folded and put back on the rails. It's as if someone had come in to tidy up but got distracted. Perhaps it's a bit posh / up my self to share such harmless observations, but it is a first for me. The things important to me are: - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness - on the surface looked good but left in some doubt on night two. - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Comfort - The bed was incredibly soft, and sloped to the one side. However the pillows and duvet were good. - ⭐️⭐️ Shower - It's one of those little electric things that dribble on you and impossible to angle to get good coverage. Choice between like warm and blistering hot. - ⭐️⭐️ Noise - I was next to the main stairwell that had a security door that banged shut each time it was used. The hotel appears to attract ‘lads' which return late to their rooms, full or merriment and noisy banter. Otherwise it was relatively quiet. Perhaps a different room. - ⭐️⭐️ Air-conditioning - Whilst you could open the window or turn down the heating, there was no fan not air conditioner. The windows were frosted glass which I found odd. Perhaps they were sparing me from a godawful sight. - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Smoke-free - and it was. - ⭐️⭐️ - Vegan options at adjoining restaurant - none on the menu. They did however make me a vegan burger, which I suspect wasn't completely vegan. I had the nagging doubt it was a brioche bun and that some of the fried items had shared the oil with other animal byproducts. It was OK, a bit oily. I'll live. And they did try. Overall, this hotel is ‘alright'. Yet I'd rather a Premier Inn. Much more consistent in what to expect and have a good night guarantee.
"Another fab stay"
Stayed here again last weekend with several family members. The service were received was excellent by each member of staff we encountered. Everything was " Nae bother"... typical NorthEast attitude ..the place was spotlessly clean throughout. Bed was lovely and comfy. My one and very minor negative was the power shower was very feeble and just managed to squeeze out enough to shower properly. We ate in the restaurant and again staff were very accommodating as I have dietry requirements and the food was beautiful..all in all an excellent stay and we will definitely be returning x

"Really nice"
Stayed here for 2 nights. Found the hotel via beamish website suggestions for local hotels. Stayed in one of the apartments, which was lovely and spacious - Room 1. Rooms clean, modern and bright. The only negative would be that the bed is small and is just a double bed - not a queen or king size, so little space for 2 people sharing. Although the bed and pillows were comfortable. There is also no room safe - which we found unusual. Breakfast is lovely - full English cooked how you like. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant in the evening (same place as breakfast) is lovely and you get 10% off if you are staying in the hotel, however we only got this offer the first night and not the second night, so this could be a one off offer? There is a small car park, which we always found space at, although there is on street parking available. Would definitely stay here again if going to beamish or the local area.

"Overnight Stay - Damp in bathroom"
We stayed at Hotel 52 recently for a family wedding - stayed in room 4 on the ground floor. Initial instincts is that the hotel is larger than the car park would have you believe, small car park with space for around a dozen cars and on street parking for another half dozen or so. Staff within the hotel were pleasant, found the drinks not priced badly and good value food in the restaurant - myself and my partner shared a 20 inch pepperoni pizza and didn't quite manage to finish it. Food was a little on the slow side to arrive despite the pre order but it was worth the wait when it did arrive. The room itself was set originally as 2 double beds however we explained to the staff that we would require one of the beds splitting for our 2 sons and this was completed while we were in the restaurant. Bed comfort was fine - good firmness to the mattress and the linen was clean, as you would expect. Main issue that we had within our room was the damp within the bathroom - it was behind the bathroom door so not immediately obvious as you walk into the room but the smell was unmistakable once it was notice - we were staying in the hotel as an overnight stay for a family wedding the following day and were out early the next morning so unfortunately did not have opportunity to report the issue to management. I would appreciate it if the management were to message me regarding our stay about a resolution to this. Our son suffers from asthma and is unfortunately still coughing following our stay 3 nights after we left. Overall - staff friendly - food good value - drinks average - room quality - very poor Room 4 should not be available for any customers to stay in it until the damp is resolved - it will cause far more problems for the hotel than it resolves. Had we been staying for more than 1 night we would have left the following morning and changed hotel.

We stayed in room 2 very spacious and very clean , you could not fault it . We stayed for tea bolagnaise beautiful and pizza even better . Nothing too much for staff they couldn't do enough, even down to printing pages for our grandaughter to colour. We would recomend hotel 52 and would hesitate to stay there again .

Thank you for your feedback. I apologise the heating was not working this morning, I was made aware and resolved a pressure drop during the afternoon on Saturday and it had gone back to normal function afterwards. However, I have reported the pressure issue to the maintenance team who are working on it as we speak as it has dropped once again through the night, I appreciate this is too late for you and again I am very sorry about the issue. Thank you for your comments regarding friendly staff and nice food :) I hope you enjoy the wedding! Have a great day!
