My husband and I have been staying at this property for years, as it serves as a convenient halfway point on our regular trips. Previously known as the Sheraton, we were always very pleased with our stays. However, our recent visit to the SureStay Plus by Best Western Roanoke Rapids I-95 was disappointing. The front desk staff remains professional and friendly, and we recognized a long-time employee who has always been helpful. This review is not a reflection on the staff, who continue to provide excellent service. The issue lies with the room itself. Upon entering, we were greeted by a musty smell. The AC unit was covered in dust and grime, clearly in need of cleaning. While the bed linens were clean and the bed was nicely made, the overall cleanliness of the room was lacking. Light switches were grimy, the wall light fixtures were dusty and rickety, and door handles appeared unwiped. The bathroom door was particularly filthy, with visible grime and fingerprints. We are not typically germaphobes, but we felt uncomfortable in this environment. I ended up using a washcloth and sanitizer to wipe down everything we needed to touch. Additionally, there was noise throughout the night, making it difficult to sleep. It was unclear whether the noise came from neighboring guests or the plumbing. After eight years of regularly staying at this property, we do not plan on returning. We hope the new management takes these reviews seriously and addresses the issues. Once again, the front desk staff is great, but the property itself needs significant improvements.
Floor of room and hall very dirty with debris and items all over the floor. The hallway smelled like weed every day. The breakfast was subpar, the front desk manager was very, very professional and nice. Was disappointed when I get the same type of service at the lower end hotels so thinking I was spending a little bit of a higher rate would make a difference
Check in was one of the easiest and the young lady was very professional at the desk. The room was clean and very nice. The Hotel was very easy to jump off 95 and quite. Breakfast was eggs and sausage and good coffee. Had a outdoor swimming pool looked inviting. Would suggest staying here.
The sheets had a blood stain on them. I asked for them to be changed, but they had no one that could change them. They gave me a new room, but that AC was broke, so I had to take the sheets from one room and change them myself. And they had a round toilet seat on an oblong toilet, that was just strange.
Bed and pillow comfortable. That was the only nice thing about the room. Dirty bathroom, stain on ceiling. Furniture out dated.dead bug something on cabinets Hallways carpeting looked dirty and old. Keep your shoes or something on your feet
Just an old unkept property. However staff very nice. Breakfast average. No juice.xxxxxxxxxx🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲😜🦃😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜🌲😜🌲🌲🌲🌲😜😜🌲🌲😜😜😜😜😜😜
STAY AWAY!! This hotel is awful. It's a rundown piece of garbage! It's so bad the health inspectors need to go in and shut it down. Stains on all carpets, broken a/c units. Smells through out halls and stairs and the elevator is disgusting. Could not even sleep it felt like bugs were all over room. Under sink was dirty. It's like you walked into a horror movie! I thought my room would be broken in. Constant noise too. Refund should be given for just stepping into this place. This is not a hotel and Best Western should think about having their name on it. Bad! Run from this place! Don't even step in!
This appears to be a converted Sheraton but those glory days are long in the past. The entire place has the feel of a Motel 6 that is on its way downhill. The room was small and, especially the bathroom, cramped almost to the point of being unusable. We wouldn't stay here again if the price were $29.95, much less the $123.71 we were charged. When you think of "Best Western," this isn't what comes to mind.
Terrifying filthy…. Mold in the bed skirt. Awful odor coming from AC. Extremely noisy, door with 2-3 inches gap, hallways with stained carpets and walls. Although I paid in full and upfront, decided to leave within a few hours. That's how bad it is.
Asked for ground floor and got a handicapped room. Ok. Shower was nearly impossible to manage. No fan in bathroom so horribly humid. Breakfast worst yet from this chain. Stale bagel. Hot water was off-tasting, so tea wasn't drinkable. Cocktail napkins again! No waffles. The less said of the eggs, the better. The saving grace was fresh apples.
Public areas well maintained, but elevator malfunction forced change of room. TV remote was not cable based, but internet, required signing in to streaming service of choice, toilet was child size 12" from floor. Breakfast was fine but not special. Choose this hotel because of pet policy, that was fine. Won't stay here again.
Room was basic. Bathroom basic. There appeared to be a repair in on the wall that wasn't painted. Also noticed something on the chair. Looked like some of the popcorn ceiling was falling. Breakfast was ok. The hotel doors are noisy and you can hear whenever one closes. Also the room next to mine had a gentleman playing videos on his laptop all night and it was loud. I said something to the front desk and I was told that I should have come down at 4am and they would have changed his room. I wasn't going to wake up more by coming down I'm pj's to complain. Waiting on someone to call me about the issue.
The Bedding & Towels had stains & dingy. Water system was down for a good portion of the day. The bathroom shower walls had soap scum as if they haven't been clean in months. Never Again!!
Have stayed at this Location on many occasions. It's our halfway point to upstate New York. We never had a bad stay at this facthirty. Great staff, great breakfast. Great location right off the 95.
The staff was friendly. We were on the 2nd floor(top floor). They must need a new roof because the hallway ceiling looked like there are leaks everywhere! The rooms needed help. As soon as I walked in 2 roaches scurried out of the bathroom! The bathroom light was dim and flickered like a strobe light. The breakfast in the morning was good. It was just an ok place for the amount we paid.
Hotel was easy to get to and very nice for the price. Staff was friendly and polite and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was decent. Parking was close by and plentiful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good bang for the buck
The rooms are falling apart the ceilings have water damage in halls falling down the rooms smell like mold have mud dirt in them towels are nasty nothing works in the rooms stuff falling apart just disgusting
Very strong smell of pot throughout the entire second floor which kept our little kids awake. Floors were filthy as well as mirror above the sink caked with someone else's tooth paste and saliva. Bed sheets had hairs all over them. Towels in the bathroom were literally thrown on the towel rack so we were unsure if they had been used or not. Shower was not cleaned soap thrown right in the tub which was so odd. Dust was all over the top of the headboards and pillows. What topped this experience off was the bug that landed on my husband while he was trying to sleep.
We enjoyed our stay. Nice breakfast. Love the renovations that they are doing to the place. Plenty of parking. Felt safe. Not too noisy, pretty quiet. Staff helpful. Staff friendly. We stay at this hotel every time when we are in town to visit our daughter and her family
The bed was creaky and too soft. I couldn't sleep very well on it, and I wound up having a backache in the morning. The bathtub was dirty, the toilet clogged after a few uses, the bath towel was dirty and the breakfast was not appetizing.
The hotel was a little hard to find as it is off the interstate and down a road there is construction. Nice hotel, friendly staff and prices were reasonable. Hotel is pet friendly. Room was nice and clean.
The positives: Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Negative: Rooms seemed to have a mild mildew smell. Breakfast was limited - continental style with egg patties and sausage patties. Breads were available but no waffle maker. Flooring was laminate - easy to clean
This is by far the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed in. If we hadn't arrived late at night and had no other options, I would have packed up my family and gone somewhere else. My husband and I actually contemplated sleeping in the car with our kids. The pictures don't do it justice because of the pattern on it, but the floor was covered in filth. We couldn't take a shower because there was body hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor. The bath mat was covered in dirty footprints too. When we first arrived, our hotel room door wasn't even locked, so I'm wondering if they got part way through cleaning it and then forgot to clean the rest. There was a hair in the bed. The hand towels were dirty, so we just shook our hands dry. When we woke up and turned the light on in the morning, a bug scuttled across the floor. Even the fridge was dirty. We even saw what appeared to be a hooker leaving when we walked down the hall at 6:30 in the morning.
Would not recommend this motel until they clean and renovate the place it is old and it Has an Oder it was not a good experience air conditioner was not cold shower was not hot breakfast was terrible the only good thing was the girl at the desk at check in was very nice that's the only one breakfast girls was not
I've stayed at many hotels when traveling and this one in Roanoke Rapids North Carolina was good. The room was clean and the hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. I will stay at this hotel again in the future.
August 2023. Despite numerous attempts to contact Deborah Simons, the manager of the SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western in Roanoke Rapids, NC I have not had the opportunity to speak to her yet as she will not answer my email or my phone calls. Normally hotels rely on their reputation in order to attract their patrons. The fact that our hotel room had an infestation of ants which resulted in both my husband and I being bitten repeatedly and then seeing a rash break out on our legs didn't seem to cause the manager Deborah Simons any concern at all for either her professional reputation or that of the hotel that she manages. When I attempted to speak to one of the employees at the hotel following this disgusting event, I was abruptly dismissed and told that she could not help me. I have tried to speak to the manager Deborah Simons but she appears to be avoiding me. Due to that disrespect, I intend to let my reviews speak for me and my outrage.
We found our accommodations unsatisfactory shortly after checking in Saturday evening, including a broken window which would not close or lock for our first-floor room. As I'm traveling from Maine with my wife and 15-year-old daughter, this was not acceptable. They offered another room, it was also unsuitable. We ultimately just asked for our refund so we could check in somewhere else. We were told the general manager would have to handle the refund transaction when she came in the next day. We wound up staying in another hotel. The following morning, we returned to Best Western to check on the status of our refund. The manager claimed we had been at the hotel for two hours and therefore could not be issued a full refund. I assured her we were NOT there for 2 hours. She still refused our refund, without even bothering to check her front desk records. Upon providing evidence which verifies we had already checked in at a completely different hotel a little more than an hour after checking into the Best Western, the manager now claimed they couldn't provide refund because we'd been there for one hour. So we're out nearly $200 for a one-hour stay in one of the more rundown Best Westerns I've encountered. We've filed complaints with the third-party booking service which found the hotel for us in the first place; the corporate Best Western customer service office; the local Chamber of Commerce; and a local convention center. Wife and I have stayed at several Best Westerns over the years -- never again. Ever.
Staff that we encountered were a 5/5 - super friendly and efficient. Room wasn't great, though you get what you pay for. It was very damp and had an initial smell. Beds were old/ uncomfortable and the springs were pretty noisy. Only 2 towels but 4 of us were in the room. Overall the room felt worn down (but was clean). Breakfast was simple but again you get what you paid for. Would stay again if it was a quick visit but wouldn't have any real expectations.
Run! We should have left and not even stayed. Our room was awful. Smelly. Says none smoking but definitely a smell of cigarettes and incense. Shower needed scrubbing. Light in bathroom was broken. No TV remote. Had to go to front desk to get one. Made 2 trips to front desk to get one that works. The last straw was unrolling a “clean” wash cloth that looked like it scrubbed someone's butt. We did contact the general manager who seemed apologetic. We are still waiting for our refund.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at SureStay it was nice and quiet very clean and very kind staff the young lady at the front desk was very kind and her name was Tandy and there were two other women I just can't remember their names but excellent care the maid service was very kind as we walked down the hall said hello good morning, it made us feel kind of special and relaxed
This hotel a clean hotel that is blessed with professional acting staff. Their elevator is well maintained and the air conditioning is wonderful. The dining area is pristine. The breakfast is simple but hearty.
Great location, tired hotel one person on duty with full house; place needs maintenance and updating: 1950 flat pillows caulk in tub falling out and limited items in bfast room. Stay up the street at Hilton next time where we had a great dinner.
when i first got into my room it looked awful, there were stains on everything. i went into the shower and there was not enough towels for me and the 2 other people in my room, i went to the front desk for another towel and they said they didn't have any shower towels and gave me a thin pool towel. later, my mom laid in bed because we drove for 14 hours and she was itchy, she went into the bathroom and found ants everywhere in the bed and bathroom, they were in the corners and a dead cockroach. we called and they immediately switched our rooms and the new one had a dead cockroach in the corner and crumbs from the previous guests and ants in there. i decided to at least try the gym while i'm here and on the way downstairs the ceiling is leaking all over the floor. water leaking from the ceiling light, which is dangerous. and the ac in the hall was leaking. did they fix it? no they put down pool towels.
Bugs, rain water rushing through lamp fixtures and walls, moved to a new room just to smell weed and have dogs barking all night… and still roahes when i tried to take a shower there wasnt enough towels for all of us so we went down to the desk they gave us thin beach towels because “no clean towels” were horrified, cant sleep, and have a 10 hour drive ahead of us tomorrow
I stayed overnight on the 2nd floor with family (and baby) traveling north from Florida. I did a walk in check in. Below is a summary of the pros and cons for my stay. Pros: - Location (right off of 95) - Room size - Room floors were nice - Working Elevator - Baby's playpen could fit between the 2 beds Cons: - Check in took a while as the computer system was not working properly - Upon checking in, there was a very large puddle on the floor (from the air conditioning). An employee was able to help us switch rooms. - We stay on the second floor and the entire hallway smelled like cigarette smoke. It was hard to breath and it was not safe for my baby to be breathing in. We ran into the manager in the hallway and discussed our concerns and they sprayed the hallway with something. The next morning the smoke smell was still there. - Limited breakfast options (not many for my baby, either)
We were here 2 nights & gone most of the day but rooms were not touched at all while we were gone. One of the beds had torn sheets & spots on sheets. Very disappointed because our other stays at BW were good. Also, when we returned around 4 there wasn't anyone in house keeping so the front desk person had to bring towels.
Great service, warm hospitality, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. Nice to have grab 'n' go continental breakfast and freshly brewed coffee and juice. Needed a taxi to go around town and the front desk staff was very helpful to locate one. Good dining options as well as delivery service easily available.
The bathroom door was black around the door knob with visible finger prints and dirt. There was a bug on one of the beds, a piece of candy on the floor. The halls smelled of cigarette smoke even though all rooms were non-smoking. We walked by a room of adults who had the door open screaming profanities, F this, MF that, something about Fing money. Not something that makes you feel safe, staying with children. There is no continental breakfast, like the evening employee stated. In the am, the morning employee was very rude when I politely asked about there being breakfast. After looking at me like I had three heads, she said no we don't have breakfast. I said okay I was just asking because the checkin employee said there was breakfast. She stared at me some more and then said they have bags. I said okay, do you have 3 bags for my kids? My sister also asked for two for her and her son, which the employee was reluctant to give her. I don't know, the whole thing was just very bizarre and unpleasant. No smiles or hospitality. The evening employee was lovely though.
We are traveling up to MD from FL. Last night we stayed at a Holiday Inn in Savannah. It was a long drive up with rain most of the way. Checked into a Sure stay which is part of the Best Western. The hotel is clean, rooms spacious with nice amenities. We were exhausted from our long strenuous drive and just wanted to get some sleep. When I sat on the bed I knew i was in trouble. I'm not a bed snob, but lasts nights bed was one of the best I've ever slept in, the sheets just enveloped you, so soft!! Ok, I'll get back to this one. When I sat down I thought I'd been goosed by a spring This was the worse bed I've ever slept in things poking my back abs the sheets were scratchy. I would not recommend this hotel based on the he bed alone. I will not stay at SureStay again. My night was awful, very fitful sleep
We stayed at Sure Stay in Roanoke Rapids NC on Friday, August 28, 2020. The bathroom smelt like a dead animal and mold, the ceiling tiles are moldy and water stained. The toilet paper roll was hanging off the wall. The shower didn't work. The sink had massive air bubbles and blew out water sporadically. There were people lined up on the crosswalk smoking so you couldn't get to the door without going thru all of them and smoke. The air conditioner blows out a horrible smell. The TV was all distorted and sound was all crackling. We were going to book again on September 6, 2020 but we are most definitely going thru a different chain of hotels. This experience was awful and I'm disappointed I wasted money on the first day of our family vacation.
Dirty. The. Room. Was. Dirty. Yuck. The bathroom door inside and out had fingerprints on both sides. The tub was filthy. The carpet made my feet black. I dropped something behind a nightstand and there were fingernails behind it along with a solid row of dirt. We pulled the other nightstand and more dirt and a hair clip. Yuck. The microwave was dirty inside and out. The bed was clean thankfully. We reported the room to the checkout person and it obvious that he didn't care. The breakfast was a banana and a water bottle and a packaged cinnamon roll. Find somewhere else to stay.
On our way home from FL my husband and I stayed in the hotel overnight 6/6/2020 I had gotten an email from Best Western after staying at the hotel 3 times before and was given a list of precautions that were being taken because of the Pandemic We felt safe choosing to stay there overnight after reading what steps they were taking to make sure the hotel was disinfected and clean You could imagine how we felt after waking up to a bathroom filled with bugs scattering around the floor My husband had the manager come to the room to show him what we woke up to and he brushed off like it was nothing
From the outside you would think this is a new motel but once we got to our room it was on the disappointing side. Very used. I went to wash my hands and had no water. I went down to the front desk to let them know and was told, " oh, I forgot to tell you.. we have no water. It should be back on shortly." Duh. The outside grounds were well-kept. I would only stay here again because they take pets.
Overnight stay on way to Florida. A very comfortable bed, clean rooms and bathroom, continental was ok, your normal hot breakfast in hotels. The staff was friendly and accommodating, easy access off I-95,
Very friendly, and the room was more than adequate. the staff was very helpful in finding us a place for takeout food during the coronovirus crisis. We were on our way home to Pennsylvania from Florida and found this place to be convenient and near any amenities we needed.
The sound mechanics of the room were terrible! We could easily hear the voices of our neighbour through the adjoining room door (they were talking in normal voices). Every time our neighbour above walked around his room, we got a cracking noise above us (never experienced this in a 2 storey hotel before). The shower/water system made a very annoying clicking sound in the room every time one of our neighbours used the shower or water. Very little if any soundproofing done in this structure. Our travel was done during our trip home due to covid19. No breakfast offered of course, but this hotel had the most chintzy grab n go bags of any rooms we had.....and only one per room, regardless of number of guests in room!
Needs a little face lift in shower area but otherwise very nice room and hotel for the price paid. We would certainly go back. We had a great sleep. The A/C unit was quiet enough and the beds were comfy.
My big issue was I had a ground floor room and the window locks were broken and the screen was cut. you could tell someone had used it to gain entry in the past. This was noticed at 1AM after I heard a noise outside my window. Although the night clerk switched my room. The Manager during the day acted as it was no big deal.
This hotel does not meet the standers that I expect from a Best Western. I have been traveling often these past months and have stayed at Best Westerns chain frequently. This hotel has old carpet, walls that need painting, ceilings that may have mole on them in the bathroom. It had been a long day of traveling othere wise would have cancelled. The staff was very pleasent. None of the problems were theirs or could have been corrected by them. The mattresses were not of good quality.
We were pleasantly surprised at the great value. Very clean, great staff, great breakfast. This is an older place but for the money it's a great value. Very nice, quiet location right off of 95 . Lots of restaurants at next exit easy to get to.
It's ok for emergency and you really got to get some sleep.I did like that I could check in early, since I was going to a funeral and was leaving the next day, but the smoke smell in the room was very irritating to me in a smokeless hotel.
Very clean, pleasant staff and great breakfast. The pillows were great. I wanted to take one home , and for me the bed was very comfortable also. I always stay here on my way home from traveling and never had any issues
This hotel was supposed to be smoke free - first room could walk into the stall smoke smell was overwhelming and the second room was slightly better however the towels and sheets had a strong stall smoke smell
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Great location right off of Interstate. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was hot. Pleasant stay overall. I would recoomend this hotel to others.
Well known guest, an it's a great place more quieter then other hotels u go to an store is walking distance but if I had to choose it will be sure stay all the way an the best breakfast u can get wow.
the front desk clerk was not at all helpful when we asked to sigh up for the Best western points program. i am 66 years old and i found the toilet to be so low that it was hard to get up. i woul;d recomend for seniors to stay that you have toilets that are much higher from the floor. the room did have an odor when i first walked in. It also apeared to me that the bed sheets were not changed and i slept on top of the bedspread with my own blankets.i was not at all happy with my stay at the Sure Stay.
I'm a BW Diamond member. After driving 12 hours from Florida i checked into this dump. All appears well upfront-lipstick on a pig! My room was badly in need of refurbishment. I traveled with my two dogs. I got into the room about 8pm. Got dogs settled then I noticed a bottle cap on the floor-hmmm. I Went out to get some grub and when I got back I went to put leftovers in the fridge. It was dirty and disheveled-ugh. I called front desk asking for the manager, and was told he was on a conference call. Really? A conference call at 10pm on a Friday night! They said he would call me back-He didn't. I am too exhausted to change rooms, and move luggage and dogs. I go to get into bed. As I flipped back sheet and blanket I see a dirty tissue on the bed sheet-disgusting!!! I call desk again to speak to manager to no avail. I switched to other queen bed and slept on top of covers with my clothes on. Total Skeevats!!! This is the worst hotel room as an adult I have ever stayed in. Shame on Best Western for putting their name on this dump!!!
stay here for friendly service clean rooms and an outstanding value. was the best western do not know why they changed to sure stay hope everyone gets the same service that I get when I am in this area working.
Great facility with excellent staff and great location. Very well maintained and attentive service. Room was well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. Location was convenient and easy off I-95. Restaurants were 5 min away.
Traveling from Charleston SC to Washington DC we stopped for the night. This was the only hotel we could find the day before that was pet friendly, so we booked it despite the average reviews. This hotel really needs a renovation, and a through cleaning. The dirt is ground-in so I feel for the housekeeping and maintenance staff, I don't know how they can do their jobs well with such poor support from ownership. This morning when checking out at 6:30 I had to wait a bit at the front desk; as I suspected the reception staff also had to double as the breakfast server - how unfair of the owners to do this. Morning is always a busy time for checkouts as is breakfast. Spend some money support your staff. We will never stay here again. Again, all the staff were wonderful on our short visit, I fell for them.
Wonderful staff and hotel, the best!! I will definitely stop again. I always look for Best Western while traveling. The staff was great, very accommodating, nice, and friendly!!! Room was impeccably clean and tidy, love it!
Rooms clean, service good, beds too soft. They sunk in in the middle and went too deep if you rolled on the edge. Almost as if you'd fall.out the bed. Breakfast was ok. I've seen a better menu from other places that advertise a full breakfast with their stay.
My wife and I were pushing ourselves on a trip to Florida. We got to this hotel very late and only got to the room at about 1 a.m. we knew we had to be up early and be on the road again by 7 or 8. at 3:30 a.m., the phone rang. It was a wake-up call left for the previous guests. When we complained about this the next morning, the staff acted like it wasn't that big of a deal.
Nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Free hot breakfast available at 6:30am, only complaint is there was no orange juice or bananas available. Good value for the rate, recommended and would stay here again.
Shakeria had to be one of the best desk clerks we dealt with on this trip. We stayed in 8 hotels (7 were Best Western) on this trip, and she was one of the if not THE best. The list of restaurants was a big help in finding a place to eat. That was a nice added touch.
When we left, I left 4 items behind. A staff person ran out to the parking lot as we were leaving to return my Kindle. Once on I-95 I realized I'd also left my glasses & medicine. We returned and another helpful staff member helped me located these items. I was really grateful for the kind, helpful, friendly staff at this motel and would not hesitate to stay here again if I am ever in the area.
Just what the doctor ordered. I had to drive about 1000 miles and needed to stop about 2/3 of the way because it was getting late and I was getting tired. I called best Western 800-number to find a best Western all along the route I was traveling. They were able to find one right off the exit about 25 miles from my current location which was great I got a good nights sleep at a decent rate with no complaints about the experience.
After 650 miles of riding we were all ready to stop and relax. Best Western once again didn't disappoint. Clean room, friendly staff, amazing meal and then there is Lucy, I think her picture tells it all. Thanks Best Western!!!
I am a trainer for a trucking company and every weekend I drop off my students at this hotel and have never had a problem. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are nice and clean. They have an amazing complimentary breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
Had an ant issue. Decided to move to another room. When we checked in was told they were completely booked by the first agent. She came across as being lazy mot wanting to do her job. She put a plus member in a small room. I ended up.being satisfied once I was moved to another room.by the evening agent who came on board and was very accommodating and pleasant.
Leaks, dirty and old furnishings. Light fixtures were old and rusty. Walls dirty. Carpet dirty. Leak from ceiling when room above showered. It was bad. We were supposed to stay through Sunday but cchecked out Saturday.
This hotel is dated and beyond filthy. I slept in my clothing and woke up with bug bites all over me!! The a/C unit had rust inside of it and a blue substance coming from it. I pulled the filter and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Strong mold/mildew odor. Disgusting breakfast. Unclean breakfast area and the attendant never used gloves when stocking napkins/utensils. I work for this brand as well and I'm ashamed to be affiliated with a hotel such as this one!!
I travel with my dog, so options of hotels can be limited. I had a junior suite, the room was clean and odor free. The room had a couple small dings, and could use a couple minor touch ups, but otherwise was really nice! Hot breakfast with fried eggs, sausage, and hash browns was a winner. Sharika at the front desk is a keeper! Will definitely stay here again!
The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The hotel needs a major facelift though. The walls are super thin. Upon checking into our room we noticed that somebody did a poor job with vacuuming the floor. It looked like somebody crumbled food on the floor. I called the front desk and they provided a vacuum cleaner. The gym needs to be updated as well. The treadmill has to be about 20 years old and it makes a very terrible noise. The air conditioner had a bad smell when we turned it on. We stayed for only one night so we just dealt with everything. The Hilton Garden Inn and the Holiday Inn were my first choices however they sold out.
We stayed here during a family reunion. I had reserved two rooms a 1-1/2 months in advanced. I had requested that the rooms be connected, since my Mom is disabled and in a wheelchair. When we arrived, not only were the rooms not connected, but a few doors down across the hall. The bedding felt damp to the touch and the smell of the disabled room was not pleasant (although we did switch to another disabled room). We were not happy and this is unacceptable.
We pulled in very late at night. I had my doubts, really wanted a nice soft bed and reviews were borderline. Just want to say staff was extremely pleasant especially the assistant manager.Room was great, great water pressure and temp in shower. Nice towels. And the shampoo and conditioner was the best of any hotel I have been to and I have been to a lot. Breakfast included eggs There were a few dings here and there in the room, but nothing that affected comfort or cleanliness. I would say great value for the money. Dont go to wilson, save money and enjoy a nice stay here
On our way down to Florida we found this good value hotel with very comfortable rooms and very decent breakfast. Just off I-95. Staff is efficient and very friendly. This hotel is fairly new and very well maintained. We will definitely go back.
The staff at this hotel was very friendly, accommodating and professional. The lobby and breakfast area were as nice as any other mid-grade hotel. However, the condition of my room prevents me from giving any more than 2 stars. The odor of our pet-friendly room was very unpleasant - not clean and fresh at all. The bathroom had a distinct mildew smell. We found an old pair of socks left in the room, there was a huge coating of dust behind the TV, and greasy hand prints on the microwave. The rooms were so small that it was hard to maneuver around each other while near the bathroom / sink area. I would not stay here again.
Enjoyed a good night. Good and clean room. Great breakfast, nicely setup and the food was great with many options, and pmates wrre constantly refilled. Great service. Rested well for another day of driving. Excessive pet fee though. Pool looked nice but we did mot have time for it. The staff were wonderful, very helpfull
We booked this room for an overnight stay while driving from Florida to DC. Front desk staff was friendly. Our room on the second floor was outdated and smelled a little musty. The curtains and bed spread were stained. We dropped off our bags and drove to the next exit to find something for dinner. When we got back I noticed a long hair on the pillow that didn't belong to any of us. We pulled back the covers and found the bed had hair all over it. I went down the desk and they moved us to another room without hesitation. The new room was on the other end of the floor and the hallway was very hot down there. The new room was still gross, but we figured there was no point in moving again.
This was an amazing stay! The refrigerator was extra large and worked really well to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Microwave worked great. The room was perfect for a quick business trip.... a comfortable nights sleep, nice and quiet, super clean and reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back!
I've stayed at this property twice thus far. Its clean, safe and affordable. The guest attendant is always professional and kind. The rooms are neat, clean and like new. never a problem with anything at this location. it represents the BW brand well.
Sanctuary of the wandering engineering consultant, who needed a quiet place to rest his bones. The many amenities that were there for my comfort were absolutely wonderful. It was great to be able to make my coffee in my room as well as heating up a bite to eat in the microwave. The cable tv was the icing on the cake because I was able to keep up with all the current things happening in the world.
Reasonably priced, clean and friendly, courteous service! Special shout out to Taisha and Wiley for their excellent customer service and the folks who cook the morning breakfast also! Hotel is clean and fairly priced, you have to go up to the next exit for all the food places though. Breakfast is free and delicious and everything you could want from cereals, toast, waffles, fruit, eggs, sausage, gravy and biscuits, etc. wonderful! Will be back again. Nice little find!
This hotel is exactly as billed. They have a very friendly staff that go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Being pet friendly is a huge bonus for us as we travel with our small dog. Rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. It was everything we needed after 13 hours on the road.
Auto emergency prompted this stay. It was much more pleasant than expected , as the price was very low. Reception staff is outstanding. Oversized very clean room, king bed, kitchenette . Drawback in that it is not close to dining and I had no car. Saved by delivery service of a full dinner from a nearby restaurant recommended by staff. One glitch: the TV was not properly working. Given an offer to change rooms, I declined, watched the one cable news station a bit and used my computer.
At first, doors slamming could be heard, but everything was quiet at nite. Other guests couldn't be heard through the walls. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Good TV, WiFi and small business center. Breakfast was minimal (coffee, juices, hard-boiled eggs, sausage but hard other eggs, bagels, fruit, yogurt, etc). The staff were nice, but the front desk was missing - at times. Check-in and out was easy. Free newspaper. Elevator, free parking and felt safe, indoor room access and didn't smell any smoke. No restaurants within walking distance... places to eat within 1-2 miles. Quiet, except the LOUD guests in the dining area that were louder than the news on a large TV, and LOUD guests in the lobby area. I would stay, again.
We booked this at last minute for an overnight stay as we were on our way to Maryland. The staff (Tonya) was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, had good sized pillows. Hotel is convenient to 95 yet quiet. A short drive away there are many fast food places to eat at (can go the back way without getting back on 95). Checked out too early to try the breakfast.
The room smelled pets, there was a greasy/dusty film on almost everything in the room, carpets were stained a dirty. The only clean thing in the room was the bed and linens. The bathroom had ceiling tiles that were askew, which made me very uncomfortable and there was a very large water stain coming down the wall in the bathroom. The wifi, when it worked was very weak. We did not eat the free breakfast, I couldn't imagine the kitchen would be clean by the condition of the room.
Just an exit away from crowded Roanoke Rapids and about 2 miles from the main drag in Roanoke. Hotel is Priced right, Clean, very nice staff. Good breakfeast. Great place to stop off 95 when making trips north and south.
I was satisfied with Desk Clerks all were very professional , Sharika awesome employee, she always made everything right when other (housekeeping ) did do there jobs. The only issue was with housekeeping service, some days they would clean others not, I always like to leave my room tidy so they can leave fresh linens etc.. They never left anymore coffee, complimentary items, linens hit and miss. Sharika made it right with a smile she even offered to go make the bed, I told her no housekeeping are getting paid they should there job, other other then that it was nice.
The pool was closed, which was unexpected, and one of the beds in our room was very uncomfortable, but the shower pressure was good and the breakfast was hot, with eggs, sausage, bacon, and waffles. I have stayed in far nicer hotels for about the same price, but this was the best deal for this particular area. Next time we will try a different hotel.
/t\\\\\\ The hotel is very convenient to I 95 making it a good choice for an overnight stay when traveling up or down the East Coast. The room was clean and very quiet especially considering the nearness to the highway. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants within walking distance. There are, however, a number of places to eat about a mile down the virtually traffic free road.
First impression, beautiful and modern exterior and clean Lobby. Second impression...incredible customer service and being greeted with a smile. The room was huge and right on the end, so easy access to the grounds to quickly walk the furbabies. The kitchenette was handy, the bed super comfy and the shower was relaxing. The lovely ladies from the cleaning staff were great and even offered to help me lug my overflowing handful of bags to the car. We had a very pleasant stay.
Was very impressed with the cleanliness and professional staff. This was first time at this hotel and we were pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff. The room was well furnished and beds very comfortable. A great home away from home.
We usually choose B.W. when we travel with our pet. it is not impossible or impractical to expect odorless rooms and hallways. The odor of pets and pet urine was so strong it lasted in our clothing and belongings all the way to NY. Lobby only access to rooms meant navigating our luggage and pet to the farthest point in the building through crowded hallways. Bed, bath, TV, breakfast acceptable, PET odors have taken this BW off our list.
A pipe burst in our hallway. Ok. That happens. I understand it's out of the control of the hotel. But when they shop-vacced the hallway right outside my room and failed to move us at 3am and then when I made it to breakfast (with 15 mins left because I slept a little longer—see 3am above) and they were out out of all the hot foods, most of the milk for cereal, and with only one piece of bread remaining that was disappointing. To top it off when I mentioned this to the person maintaining the breakfast bar he rolled his eyes and gave me attitude. Seriously? After a horrible, sleepless night you are going to treat a guest—who used to be very loyal to this particular hotel—that way?? The worst part is that I have tried to reach management for over 5 days with no response.
The hotel was a very good value. The room was a bit worn, but clean and not musty at all. The front desk staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was good. We would definitely stay again for a night.
This was a great stay! The hotel personnel was very polite and helpful. They truly seemed to go out of their was to make everything perfect. Beds comfortable, fridge cold, internet fast, breakfast perfect! We will make this Sure Stay a regular stop. Convenient to 95 and great choices for dinner also! ( Ralph's BBQ). Excellent STAY!
Noisy hallway and from floor above. Red meat and onion in refrigerator. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Reported this to front desk and all she could offer was “I'm sorry.” She said we could have moved to another room but we didn't have time to wait for another room because we had an affair to attend.
On our way to and from NYC we stopped at this hotel. It is conveniently located of the interstate, but offers a quiet resting spot. The rooms are spacious, clean and reasonably priced. There are a variety of restaurants nearby and the hot continental breakfast offers many wonderful choices. This is a great hidden gem for a nice rest, hot shower and refresh for your journey.
From the helpful and pleasant Housekeeping to Reception Staff, this hotel was great!! The room was spotless and the breakfast was great! What more do you need?! We will most definitely stay here again!
my wife stayed her 3/16 to 3/17. It seems the pantry cook called out so they didn't have any eggs sauage and bacon for breakfast. it seems alot of kids were waiting and didn't get any breakfast. This is poor management. They should have had some plan if this sort of thing happens instead of dispointing alot of people on spring break. No refunded or discount of the rooms were offered. I picked this hotel for my wife because of the reviews of the excellent breakfast. She was drivng from ny to fla. Very disappointed experience.
Peaceful stay, breakfast was good, staff was very friendly and helpful. Love the new welcome program complimentary package- bottles of water, snacks, etc. Fast check out available. Will return again at that location
After looking at several places online, we finally found this one. We called and spoke with the front desk and she confirmed the availability of a room at less than the online booking price. Comfy bed, clean room and facility, and great breakfast. We will stop again.
Different class of hotel. Staff is great , hotel not so much! Less than BW Plus . Breakfast not good. That being said , we've stayed in BW Plus that shouldn't have that rating also. You just know sometimes when you walk in a place and know you made a mistake
We really enjoyed our overnight stop here. Clean room, comfy beds, nice choice of breakfast items! I got to try biscuits and gravy for the first time, and there were many hot and cold items to choose from.
A wonderful stay, we were recognized as diamond rewards members and given a nice upgrade. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms clean and comfortable. it is just off the I95 but is quiet and easy to get to.
Place was clean and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was typical continental breakfast. Coffee and something quick before getting back on the road. Not too sure about anyplace place that was nearby to grab a bite to eat.
I haven't had an experience like this past weekend in a long time. Not only were the staff excellent and very accommodating, but the entire building, especially the room were immaculate. Affordable, quiet, and just an accommodating staff. The beds were big and there were appliances in the room, where didn't have to leave the room. One staff offered to get something to drink (I'm a 63 year old grandmother with a 6 year old). All my requests were met, including being close to the office
For a budget hotel it had good bed, hot shower and good ventilation. Plumbing was very noisy in room and room above. Bacon and eggs were barely edible but all other selections were OK. For the price and one night stay adequate.
Over the years it has been a very nice place to stay as I make my way up or down to florida. For me it is a half way point. And does the job perfectly. Not luxurious or anything like that. but just right.
The personnel went out of their way to be attentive and were very pleasant, especially Antonio. Very clean and comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Great price, you couldn't ask for anything better.
Amenities were excellent and loved how hotel was arranged. Employees were friendly and the best! WiFi was not working. Overall this hotel had the best features and I loved the location and helpful staff.
Leisurely traveling along we decided it was time to get a room for the night. This location was a first for us. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the property. The staff were amazing. After a great sleep we had a wonderful breakfast with a large variety to pick from. Coffee was excellent.
Stopped in here for a night with family members - 7 of us, 2 rooms. Had issues with the toilet not flushing and requested another room. Then had problems in the 2nd room with the A/C. We bore with it instead of changing rooms for a 3rd time. Also, the shower is not easy to figure out - they provide a small plaque on how to operate the shower (behind the folded shut shower curtain, where you don't notice it because it's hidden behind the shower curtain!!). Breakfast was just average - typical hotel breakfast. Not really impressed, but it was just for one night.
We were bringing a dog with us for the first time in our 35 years anniversary. This is a nervous experience for me. BUT, the staff was very friendly, nice and helpful. The room was comfortable but little old. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was really good. I would go back again. It was easy off and on from I-95.
Very comfortable beds. In the middle of renovations. Great value for a one night stay. Not a lot around us for food, have to go another exit. Breakfast was good for hotel breakfast. Hot water started running out around 9 am so I don't think the rooms have their own hot water heater. Great stay though! Highly recommend.
Room was very clean, everything worked good. Hot Breakfast with a large variety, and staff were fantastic. Front desk staff was most helpful on my needing to print out a file. Plan to stay here if you are in the area.
Arrival was after a 12 hour drive from CT. Hungry, tired, sore and sun just set. Checked in was easy with the wonderful help. They had a list of Restaurants within three to five miles, must have totaled twenty five. Went to room and checked it out, beds felt comfortable so off to restaurants which didn't require the highway as some stated. Ate at a Ruby Tuesday which had a fantastic salad bar which I recommend. Got the Shepard Pie with salad bar for twelve dollars and left to get a solid night sleep at the Best Western. Nice stay, enjoyed after the drive and meal!
the shower doesnt get hot, only luke warm no matter how long i let the water run. my door didnt close & latch all the way & i didnt know it until the next morning so i slept all nite with the chance someone could have come in. i tole the front desk the next morning & the door now latches but the water in shower still isnt hot. came back the 2nd nite & there were ants un my room. woke up the next morning and by 7:15am they still had no breakfast available except for cereal & was told the truck didnt come in.....lol....lastly, i had an emergency come up and needed to check out early and was told would still have to pay for the next nite because it was too late to get someone to clean the room so it could be rented again ..although there is only a had full of cars at the hotel so it doesnt look like there is a big need for my room right now ! ....smh..
The Best Western is conveniently located off of I95 with many places to eat within 2 hours Room was clean, comfortable and the free breakfast was excellent with a good selection to choose from. We would definitely stay here again next year on our way to Myrtle Beach
Very Nice Hotel with Fair Prices. Front Desk Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast and Breakfast staff was wonderful. If you are heading North or South on Interstate 95, this is a great stop for the evening or longer.
