    « Overnight »

Our delayedflight eventually got cancelled and this is one of Air New Zealand's selected accomodations for us. We arrived after midnight greeted nicely and then issued the key and the remotes for the tv and air con. From the front door stepped into the kitchnette and off from that a small bathroom shower, toilet and basin. After using the shower i noticed that there were footprints on the white bathmat we figured out that the floor was dirty, grimy so had to wear jandels. Turned on the old air con , didn't work very well and the exhaust was just outside by the window very noisey, turned on the ceiling fan that just dried my eyeballs, turned that off, open the window could hear the traffic, hot night had to use fan so with a hard bed no sleep that night ,only good thing was clean sheets, pillows yuck. Up early to get of the place, we we advised the night out shuttle will pick us up 0700 for 0730 checkin. The restaurant didn't open till 0700 so no breakfast for us. Bumpy to the airport.

    « Birthday / family retreat »

Had a family gathering and 80th birthday booked more than 3/4 of rooms, had a wonderful weekend (4 nights) rooms were spacious and clean, fit for extended families, staff were friendly and helpful, the pool was nice and clean and the restaurant/bar was fine, the families enjoyed their stay and will be returning one day. Used the tennis court for our function which turned out fine to accomodate 200 plus guests. Would like to thank the management and staff in their assistance in making the birthday bash/ family retreat a memorable occasion... Vinaka vakalevu.

« Great hotel, but could be better location »

We stayed at this hotel for one week. The staff was really nice and helpful, the rooms were good, clean. Great pool, but should have been more sunbeds. The location was ok. It is close to a beach, but the beach itself and the water was dirty. It costed about 20 fijidollars to get to port denarau, where all the big restaurants are located. But overall we were happy with our stay. They also helped us with all of our bookings.

    « Grand West Villas »

Arrived at around 7pm and found reception staff to be very friendly and helpful. Shown to our room which was very spacious, clean and tidy. The layout of the room was questionable though, a large room with empty open space and a bathroom in the corner that was uncomfortably small (you couldn't open the shower and bathroom door at the same time) seemed a waste of unused space in the main room. Bar/Restaurant area was very quiet and the menu presented in the room is way different to the reality. Choice of drink was two different beers and red/white wine, the menu in the room showed numerous cocktails etc.. same with food, menu showed numerous choice but reality was what is on the chalk board that day was what you got. Food was nice and well presented though, the staff members were also excellent. Pool area is nice but sunbeds are limited to 5/6 and the tennis courts realistically have fallen into disrepair. Hotel is close to the airport so good for a short break or stopover but don't expect other Fijian resort quality. The beach nearby isn't the greatest either. The WiFi is one real concern, $5 for 30 mins, $10 for 1 hour or $30 for 24 hours, the coverage was patchy and the cost is absurd. Overall a comfortable stay and did for what we wanted but the hotel needs a major update.

« Fiji Airways put me up due to a missed connect »

This hotel put a bad taste in my mouth about Fiji Airways if the company thinks this is an appropriate hotel (it really is a motel) to put up passengers who missed flights due to Fiji's problems. I stayed in a room that was way past its prime, looked old and dated, and was not in a very nice area. Upon arriving I was given a room and luckily there was someone there to help with my 50 lb bag loaded with scuba equipment as there was no elevator to get past the first floor. The bathroom was nasty and was well worn. The property itself looks nothing like it does in the brochure. The tennis courts didn't have nets up and there must have been about 4 lounge chairs around the pool. The motel is out in the middle of nowhere if you don't have a car, so be prepared to catch a taxi anywhere you want to go. I took one to the main shopping district for about $8 USD. You have to eat at the hotel if you don't have transportation.

    « Grand west »

We arrived at 9pm, we welcomed and shown to our room straight away. The room was ok and clean, neat and tidy. There was a sink, fridge, jug, no microwave or other way to do your own cooking. There was a fan, air conditioner, TV (3 channels) and a balcony. We had to use the restaurant for breakfast, there was a small range of food on offer. We had bake beans on toast and muesli. We also had tea there that night and it seemed that we were the only customers. The young chef was good and very friendly. The swimming pool was clean. If you want to visit the local beach it is a very long walk, we went by car.

« Gud place for friends »

I stayed in a Vila having two rooms upstairs, a charming little kitchen and an average sized living room. It had a very old radio and television but we didn't care as we were not there for TV. The pool was nice and the shower was good. Water pressure and temperature is great. The sofa can also be turned into a bed making it great for more than 4 friends staying together. I dont think there is a restriction on numbers as the recption persons are friendly and dont bother you. Clean towels provided but bathroom floor gets wet.

    « Worst than I thought »

I'm not recommending this Hotel to any families nor business parties- it's disgusting, more localised, dated & deteriorating as far as I go- Beddings: hard, uncomfortable thin soft mattress with 2 thin pillows like car cushion TV- don't even think about watching a small 4 inch screen blaring with Indian channels A/C- fixed cannot be adjusted Bathroom - I have requested a room move due to bathroom flooded- Oh and finally no bath towel, obviously I have to buy my own during my 2 nights stay- FYI try Smugglers next door or Mercure they worth the stay-. Safe and secure

« very private, family-friendly and spacious but need proper pest control management »

To be fair, the room I stayed in at the hotel was very spacious and was fully equipped with basic amenities so it's very ideal for families or groups. The staff are very helpful and super friendly (always smiling)...from receptionist, maids and kitchen staff. However, eventhough rodents are the least of my concerns (less sensitive to dirt and pests), the only thing that bothered me was the strong smell of rat's poo and urine when entering the room. As such, a proper pest control management should be in place to ensure that rooms will not be sources of cross-contaminations to the patrons or travellers staying at the hotel. In terms of location, the villas are located close to both the airport and town centre but are very isolated which is ideal for privacy and peace.

« Good place to stay at affordable price »

Very clean and tidy place to stay. It gets noisy a bit when you want to relax considering there is an airport couple km's away. Its location is quite convenient as the beach (smugglers cove) is just 15 minutes away and its around $6 taxi to nadi central (just in case you get ripped off) Also theres a bus operating just infront of the hotel every 1 hour. The staffs are friendly (though they look quite tired). The hotel has really huge and beautiful tropical garden and good slide/pool. There can be few insects or lizzard outside the room but did not find any in the room for 7 night stay. Bathroom is a bit small.

« great for a short get away »

Staff were all so nice and friendly, i loved my stay at best western, I got married at club fiji but the staff were so helpful and nice at best western while i was getting ready for my wedding thank you to everyone there, i will definitely return.

    « Great for a home base »

We stayed here for 7 nights, and it was a great home base for our family of 2x 11 year old girls and 2x adults travelling and exploring Nadi side of the island. We only ate at the restaurant on the first night as the quality of food was not that great. Although my dinner of fish was ok my husbands steak of medium was like old boots. Despite this the service was good and Cookie the chef was very friendly. We spent a few afternoons prior got out for dinner hanging at the restaurant drinking 'fiji gold and playing pool. We explored and traveled everyday and found a restaurant down on the main road which met all our needs. Yes the pool was warm in the afternoon due to the heat and I thought the sides could be cleaned as there appeared to be sunblock build up on the water level tiles. The air conditioning was only available in the main bedroom otherwise the rest of the villa had ceiling fans which the kids struggled with for a few days but it was ok for basic accommodation. The 2 and a half bathrooms, which contained 3 toilets, three showers and one bath were great. Two upstairs and one down. The wash house tub and laundry including the close line outside were very handy for clean clothes and of course the kitchen and full fridge was handy also. The unfrozen ice blocks I took over lasted the distance and the cooled watermelon was a great afternoon treat. Close to Nadi, Wailoaloa beach and the airport, our stay was uninterrupted by staff and suited us well. Would recommend it with a rental car if you have traveled to Fiji previously and know what and where you want to go.

    « Things I wish I'd known »

We had a great 8 nights, when we got there and realised only master bedroom had air conditioning, we were going to leave as it was so humid in January, but they offered us another room which was rather large and had kitchenette, rather than the villas which had seperate bedrooms and a full kitchen, they through in a free meal for the price difference. Our boys loved the water slide best of its kind in the budget resorts we found. It was close to airport and it was loud when planes went over, but it didn't worry us too much, locals stay there so our kids got to play with Fijian kids which was great. It was close enough to walk to backpackers resorts that had reasonable meals and cheap wifi and there was a supermarket, Midwest superette, which was great and better than the small supermarket next door. Get there early for bread or find a nice bakery, we found one at end of Nadi. If you had to catch a taxi, you have to make sure they put metre on, and bus is good, but not very regular. It's worth getting a car and travelling up to Suva via coral coast and Lakota. Better than Nadi. Hard to find fresh milk, but we found it in new world, worth a trip to sea side island for finding nemo tour. If you have to do laundry, take it down to backpackers resorts $2 a kilo. Bed was a bit hard for me, but fine for my wife. Overall good choice we are very budget conscience so it was best for us

    « Basic and clean. »

Basic but clean. Steer clear of eating any food from here as the kitchen is filthy and the food is awful. Great budget hotel with the best pool by far. The water slide is awesome! Staff are very friendly and helpful but generally the rooms are never ready when you arrive and there is only air conditioning in the main bedroom. We use this hotel as our stop over but since 2010 it has gone a little down hill.

    « Family Xmas Visit »

We had a party of 10 people staying at Grand West Villas, both locals, australian, adults and children. We stayed in 2 villas to accommodate all of us. Being close to the airport, Nadi town and also Wailoaloa Beach the location was great. The airport runway is behind the premises and you do hear the landing and takeoff of planes, which kids and adults all liked to watch. It didnt disturb our sleeping during the night or the afternoon nap. The villas are quite spacious with kitchen and living room plus shower and toilet downstairs. Upstairs were another 2 bathrooms and bedrooms. Bed in main bedroom could do with being replaced as it was a bit saggy. However, the single beds on other room and the extra bedding downstairs was quite comfortable. Having a kitchen allowed us to dine in some nights which was great as we had purchased lobsters from the roadside and was able to prepare a lovely seafood dinner in our villa. Swimming pool is quite large and the kids loved the water slide. Gardens and grounds are well maintained. There is a small bar and restaurant near the pool. We did order some meals from the restaurant and found them to be quite nice. Staff, particularly our house cleaning lady was lovely and very helpful. All staff were friendly and ready to be of assistance. Overall we found Grand West Villas to be good value for the price and would stay here again. It is close to smaller restaurants and resorts at Wailoaloa Bay (within walking distance) a close taxi ride to town $4. If you are coming to Fiji and staying out on the islands this is a good place to stay before and after the island visit. It is also an excellent place for large groups of friends and families due to the various types of accommodation provided. Vinaka Vini and staff, we had a great family holiday.

    « Nadi Fiji »

price was nice and we got good deal... over 4night get reasnable price. I've stayed twin room but bed was too soft and uncanfatable. averall 7/10 staff friendly and when I request they will respond all the time. Thanks

« Another option to stay in Nadi - one night »

The Best Western Grand west´s Villas is a nice, quiet place to stay. The breakfast is good and the restaurant offers some good options - fijian menu. I spent one night - flight connection. The staff was always ready to give information.

« Secured, pleasant and friendly stay »

I always choose to stay here as I find the staff friendly esp Romika who goes out of way to be accommodating, pleasantly quite environment, secured stay esp when I normally stay alone, adequate parking and a pool with water slide for those stays when kids also come over. Would recommend for both family and business stay.

« Good for family Vacation »

Villas are clean and cooking facilities provided. Shopping complex just 2km down the road. Only issue - would be nice if TV could be upgraded to LED. Nice pool and clean environment. Picnic Beach is 500m from the hotel. Overall good family getaway.

« False advertising - do not be fooled by the photos! »

Bitter disappointment at the state of the rooms upon check-in, nowhere near the quality depicted in the photos. The furniture was worn and tired, aircon noisy, the restaurant/bar had limited selection of meals and drinks. Small Fiji water was $4.00! It is also so close to the airport, unless you really enjoy repetitive, noisy interruptions this hotel is not one to stay at. The pool was a saving grace, but after a quick dip the decision was made to check out and look for alternative accommodation. Not willing to stay one night in this run down place! I agree with one of the previous reviews - you get what you pay for, make your decision on the price of the accommodation, not the photos advertising the hotel!!!

    « Grand West's Villas »

Rooms are a good size, pool area was great with tables & chairs, umbrellas, a water slide & nice garden. Not very well lit at night as the pool lights didnt seem to be working. Nice little Bar/Restaurant area but may need to add a few options for more variety. Comfortable enough for a few days stay for sure.

« Pathetic Hotel To Stay »

Myself with my kids were offloaded from a delayed Los Angeles flight couple of weeks ago and we were taken to this hotel in nadi somewhere, from outside it looked ok but inside is another story. Our rooms were dirty, the food served in the restaurant was late,my kids were waiting and starving, and to wrap up all things the manager of the hotel looked angry and stubborn lady, she has no courtesy as to how to speak to the guest, she also needs a good hygiene, doesnt smell good at all near her, looked as if she came from some interior village, this is Best Western property and i have stayed at many Best Western hotels in many different countries before and this manager not at all looks worthy of a Best Western standard manager.Girls at the restaurant were nice and friendly. And to add to the misery the noise of the aircraft dint let my kids sleep whole night as this hotel is located somewhere near to the runaway.Wouldnt recommend anyone to stay here.

« Good place to party »

Rooms are good with lots of space. Good for friends and sporting teams to stay. Pool is ok with slides and sitting place near th pool. Onsite restuarant so dont need to go to town. Location is quite good and near the beach. Prices are good, recommend to stay.

« A Grand Reunion in Beautiful Surrounds »

Spend 4 nights there recently for a reunion of former airline employees. Had a two bedroom apartment, which had all the basic necessities for cooking etc if you felt you wanted to. However, with all the local food houses only a $7 Fijian taxi drive away why would you want to. The hotel serves a reasonable breakfast and good meals as well. The rooms were upstairs in the two bedroom units and comfortable but nothing special. The rooms were clean and serviceable and each bedroom had its own en suite and there was another toilet and bathroom downstairs as well with the kitchen, dining and lounge area. The garden and surrounds of this place is just simply magnificent and you see workmen all day working the gardens and keeping the pool and surrounds immaculate. Vini the manageress and her staff were just simply superb and did every thing possible to make us happy and cater for our big group which had basically booked the place out for our reunion. The meal we had for our reunion dinner was superb and a fun time was had by all. However, being by the end of the runway, the loud roar of the big jets landing and taking off in the early hours might be a worry for some, but to us former airline staff we never heard a thing or maybe we were too inebriated. But hey we had a good time. To the management and staff of Grand West Villas a big thank you.

« Great value family self catering »

We chose this place so that we can cook some of the beautiful very cheap Fijian food, fresh. I mean fresh. The prawns were still jumping. Crabs were only F$50 for 5 in a bundle. The rooms are clean. All facilities working. Pool to cool down. Beach not too far away. Markets close by. It is not paradise or fancy but it is clean, very friendly and spacious. I would recommend this if you have more than 4 in a family.

« A place to rest your head »

We used this location as a stopover. It did the job, after all you get what you pay for and this place is cheap! The villa we had was good for our family of four. It wasn't fancy, special or excellent but it was a good enough for a stop between flights. We stayed 1 night on the way to our resort and two on the way back. The flight noise is super loud until the last flight at about 11pm. Front office staff need coffee or something to pep them up, probably the saddest people we saw in Fiji. Bring your own food or go elsewhere, avoid the "restaurant" at all costs, you've been warned!!!!

Situated right beside the end of the run way you can not get away from the noise of the planes at take off, they operate from 5am - 10.30pm. But that's not the worst if it while it may be cheap accommodation in check in we found a lot of things in the room did not work e.g air con , fan, front door would not lock and was very hard to open, I spent a lot of time asking for these items to be repaired which they did do. They did eventually change our room but there were things broken in the new room so I just gave up asking. The wifi does not work inside either of the 2 rooms we had so you had to stand outside yo use it and get eaten alive by mosquitoes. The pool while useable it did have black mould on the walls do I tried to keep my kids heads out of the water. Taxi company they recommend is well priced but unreliable as we were left without a cab when they gave out booked taxi yo another company. Hotel is close to nothing, the beach is about 20-30min walk away and hard to get to and there is a small food shop down the road about 10mim walk but any other kind of shop requires a taxi. It's not close to the airport as its on the other side of the run way about 20min taxi ride to get to airport and approx $25. The only blanks that were in the room or supplied by reception were the thin hospital cotton ones or ones that were so old my gig has better. The kitchens have mis matched dishes and cutlery and very limited cooking items, defiantly no can opener. Just a horrible stay with nothing but hassles and lack of sleep we really would have left and gone somewhere else if I could have found somewhere available for myself and 4 children.

« Avoid at all costs »

Large group family of 13. Romika receptionist was great she looked after our 2yo granddaughter whilst we waited for rooms to be ready for over 2 hours. Lunch was over 2 hours whilst chef/bar/waitress ran down store to buy something to cook. The bar had beer and one spirit only available passion pop was the only wine, at breakfast I asked for eggs, bacon and mushroom, I received egg, nothing else available. We decided to take it in shifts so as not to overwhelm her the next day. The rooms had a strange odour and were super basic, not even a pen and paper. Very unkept grounds and pool was dirty. They were cleaning it the next day. Luckily only an overnight stay. I would not recommend anyone staying here especially on their last night in Fiji.

« Get what you pay for »

Booked our 9 night fiji holiday on Expedia and the 9 nights here cost just over nz$500 on top of our flights. Booked for 5 people. Yet were given a 4 bed villa. We were given an extra bed once requested though. beds have only a bottom and top sheet which I would have liked a thin blanket as well as its not always that hot in July. Kids loved the pool. It was clean and beautiful and waterslide fun. Reception was very friendly. Great at calling taxis (less than fj $10 to nadi Centre) and booked a day trip for us. But not that good at following through with requests such as I asked for an extra towel as they only provided 4 and she said she'd put it in the room and never did. I wouldve liked to see way more brochures there for things to do in fiji. I asked for some surf trip brochures which she said she would put in our room but they never turned up. Accommodation was tidy and comfortable but dated. No tea towels or face clothes provided but 3 bathrooms was awesome. No washing facilities provided but a dry cleaning service was available. It's a good place to use as a base of you want to spend your money more on experiences.

    « Overnight stay »

We did not enjoy our stay at this facility. Although the accommodation layout was perfect with regard to size, the beds were not comfortable, hot water on first stay was non existent and second stay (couldn't cancel as pre booked and paid) took ages to warm up. Restaurant was expensive and very average food, chef was bar person, waitress, all in one. Took forever for our meal. The pool is fantastic and great location and price.
