Hair in breakfast. Late meals. Staff rudely dismissing complaint. No refill of shower gel. Flickering lights.Room window onto corridor - so needed to shut curtains for privacy. It was a great disappointment as otherwise well placed hotel for what I needed

I stayed at this Hotel with my wife for a “ murder mystery weekend “. Pros , The breakfast was excellent, the event itself was enthusiastically played by the actors, although I don't think we would bother again, it was well attended and had a good atmosphere. Cons , the rooms were like staying in your Grannies spare room, very tired furniture and in desperate need of redecoration . The room they put us in was next to the kitchen or bar I think ,and was really noisy The shower could not be adjusted from welding temperature and was held in place by tape ! The leisure facilities need updating particularly the changing rooms & the jacuzzi was out of action ! In conclusion it could be so much better with a bit of money spent on it.

Brilliant value . Lovely staff very friendly. And made you feel .nothing was too much trouble. Had a meal in the bar and breakfast in the restaurant. All was nice. Room was spacious, Nd comfy and bathroom was good . Apart from getting a lot of water on the floor from the shower and tap splashed from sink .

Room clean and comfortable. No spare loo roll. Food ok in evening. Lunchtime sandwiches very poor. Breakfast not that thrilling. Hash browns overcooked. Staff not that friendly. Final straw was neighbouring farm muck spreading in neighbouring field!

Check in was fine and easy, and we were directed to our room. On route you could see that the hotel needs some investment as the wallpaper was peeling off of some walls, and the carpets had stains consistent with water damage. Not great but ever hopeful our room would be better! Nope in fact our room, bearing in mind was meant to be a superior had dated furniture, a chair in dire need of reupholstering, or binning! Our bed was huge as the had clearly pushed two beds together, the result being that on one side there was virtually no room to walk due to the closeness of the wall. The bathroom had a decent shower but again needed re grouting as this to showed its age. The sink tap… Well it was loose and twisted on its mount, and either dripped or the pipes squealed from what I can only think of was trapped air. There was a safe in the wardrobe but wasn't secured to anything and was way to big so had to be fitted sideways, resulting in not being able to see the display. So room no great! Now we had a superior double room but only one of each towel? So we enquired as to whether or not we could have a second set just to be told that housekeeping had left but should be able to sort it out tomorrow. Day two and we spoke to housekeeping who made some excuse that our room was changed quickly and the towels had been overlooked but would be sorted. Came back later, and yep still no second set of towels. So back to reception to be told that there was a shortage due to laundry, but eventually we got our second set of towels. Day three and we arrive back at our room and towels have been changed, bin emptied, but bed not made! First morning breakfast was okay. It's a self service affair and some variety so couldn't really criticise this… Well day two I could as the scrambled eggs had something within them and looked totally unappetising, and the fried eggs were just over cooked and solid. Day three sausages completely overcooked and dry. The scrambled eggs were like lumps of rubber, and again the fried eggs were as before. So to sum up this hotel are full of excuses to try and cover their failings. The hotel needs modernising, and money spent on revamping it in general. Someone needs to learn how to take things out of the oven when cooked. So I can't recommend this hotel, and will not be returning.

Room 809. Hotel has a very nice location, plenty of birdlife to view out of the window. Looked out onto a car park with pleasant planting in progress. Was assured this was a refurbished room by reception, in a quiet place of the hotel. Room was very tired, there was mould on the corners of the walls - stained carpets, silicone slathered over joints in the bathroom, the outer panel of the window was broken, there was a draught like a gale at the bottom of the window, which was also mouldy and damp. The windows have been dirty and in need of a clean for a long time. The pool and spa area was, again, in need of a cleaning team and some refurbishment. Around the jacuzzi tiles have broken off and again, the windows need a good clean. The library area is a very pleasant area to sit and relax with friends and watch the world go by. The beds are not conducive to a good nights kip. They are creaky when you move or get in and out, and the mattresses are lumpy, the pillows are thin with use, and lumpy and the the pillow protectors had hairs on them from previous tenants. The room above made a lot of footfall noise, which until they settled down, disturbed us. Breakfast. If you know how to operate a conveyor toast machine, a hot water flask and be able to cobble all this together whilst keeping your table and queueing to dish up your cooked breakfast, that's great. We had to secure our table of four, then one of us had to be there to hold the table whilst the others secured their breakfast and drinks. You have to be very organised to cobble together your toast, mug of tea, teaspoon, butter pats, then queue to get your cooked breakfast buffet. You just get sat down then… doh! no jam, queueing again round toast machine for jam. Usual fuddy duddies holding up the queue for toast because they can't operate it properly and preventing you getting near to put your toast in, get a plate or any of the jams, etc on offer. On our first day, Friday 15 March, we quickly realised this was a murder mystery night, with the hotel quite full for that, and very quickly we realised after that, that there was a wedding on the Saturday, involving members of the travelling community. We enjoy diversity, it's what built Britain, and embrace all of our diverse citizens, however, if we had been told there were these events occurring on this weekend, we would have bowed out, giving all people their space to enjoy their traditions and hobbies in their own way. We did order an afternoon meal in the gravity bar. The beer battered haddock and chips with the homemade tartar sauce was delightful, as was the soup. The scampi was overdone and served on a cold plate, unfortunately. The staff are absolutely run ragged. They work really really hard for very long hours. In all departments we saw, there was a lady manager who reminded us of Susan Calman, who set up the drinks glasses for the wedding in front of a man on a iPad, apparently a manager/ director, assuring him of the stafffing, preparation, organisation, which she had done, for the events, not once did he thank or congratulate her for a job well done, just had a stone face that gave not a measure of gratitude for her hard work. She was there till late o'clock when we saw her as we went to our rooms and she was there again at breakfast, looking absolutely knackered, organising the breakfast run. The housekeepers are also run ragged, I heard our housekeeper turning down a break as she was behind on her room cleaning, yet when I asked her for clean towels to go to the pool, she could not have been more obliging or gracious. There must also be a special mention for helpfulness and graciousness to a lady called Dulce and to a person at reception, smart, long black hair tied back in a pony tail, he had long clean nails and new tattoos, a very pleasant person. Would we come here again? As long as there were no events, such as a traveller's wedding or a murder mystery/tribute event, and we were in a clean refurbished room, then yes, we would.

Would have been 4/5 without the noise issues. Had a nice 2 night stay however night one we were kept awake by what seemed like a family of elephants right above us. We did get a change of room down the hall however this was next to what seemed to be a laundry room, oh well! Really liked the bar area, quite relaxing atmosphere and the food was good. Spa was ok although changing room were avery small and had not been kept clean. The break was bought as a present and had we not had noise issues it would have been a good choice.

Before attending the hotel I requested several times if something could be arranged for my husband's birthday these messages were only replied with automated messages encouraging you to book the restaurant never the spa, when we arrived we went to try and use the spa to be told no it was full, of all the spa hotels we have been too before we have never been refused which tells me it's not big enough for the hotel. We waited and eventually we were told we could head down to the spa by the way it's the only hotel where you have to pay to borrow a towel £1 each. We were in the pool for 1/2 and hour before chaos enraged on us, a rugby squad of teenage boys jumping in, splashing everyone and being noisy, how could we possibly relax and why let so many in at the same time??? We had to get out! Back at the room my husband tried to have a bath but was faced by a tiny bath not full sized! We put on a film and next thing you know the heard of elephants (rugby squad) were running up and down the corridors we had to put the TV louder and keep it on really late. The bed was so lumpy and our night away and my husband's birthday was ruined! How the hotel can allow this squad to stay there and ruin the experience for others is beyond me, they obviously don't care promoting their hotel to be a relaxing spa break and just let anyone run riot. The staff are very young themselves to be honest and didn't seem to care this was happening. You should be ashamed of yourselfs!

This visit was a return visit as our last stay was so bad. We were given a supposedly upgraded room called superior. Good check in by two very friendly professional receptionists one of them has only been here a short while whilst the other one we remembered from our last visit a year ago and she could not have been more helpfull, we were given our key and room number in the 900's I was in the lift my partner went up the stairs ( the signs were not very clear which floor). If you get in the lift you need someone to firmly close the door from the outside of it will not work, I stood there trying to get it to work for at least 10 minutes, in till my partner came back down and firmly pushed the lift door from the outside. We then got to the room and it was a large king size bed room that smelled awfull y, the curtains did not meet when closed, the t-v was too small for the room and could not be seen clearly from the bed. We returned to the reception and asked for another room, we were told there was only one more superior or a standard, ok, we went to look at that one with the receptionist who was so helpful, just as big smelly but not as bad as the last one, it has 2 double beds, the room was just as old fashioned and needed updating (weird having ironing things in the bedroom on the wall). Small t-v again. Curtains not meeting when closed. We decided we would take this one and try to stay as we knew the pool was so nice and I had already booked and paid for the spa day and treatment. We had a drink in the bar, which was nice so decided to have a bar meal, as we would have a restaurant meal the next night, Mark had the chicken curry that he said was very nice but my meal scamp and chips was terrible the chips was just that chips off the Julienne size the scamp was more like peices so small ( see pics) peas that were tiny and hard bullets with a very small ramekin of coleslaw not good so had a word with the manager who took it back to the kitchen and brought me an alternative of a tuna sandwich but with a very small salad garnish and big thick chips, looked nice the chips were lovely the sandwich laughable the bread could not have been any thinner, but was passable, too expensive and my partner had already finished his meal awhile ago. The manager was very pleasant but. We returned to the room and decided to stay the night at least and see what breakfast was like? But no Mark went to have a shortlist the hot and cold on and got burnt the cold did not work he was not happy so had a quick bath the taps for that did work. But it was the last straw, we packed went to reception and checked out. The staff apolagised . The duty manager refunded what I had paid even though it was a reduced rate because of what we lost the last stay it was still too much. I lost the money paid with group on for the spa but nothing was worth staying there. The only good thing is the pool that we did not use this time and the reception staff.

4 night holiday with Barns Coaches. Very friendly hotel, large room with walk in shower. Half board, perfect self service breakfast, evening meal, 6.30pm in private room, 4 of the best package holiday meals i have had. Full mark's to the chef. Barns Coaches laid on entertainment for 3 evenings.

Nice comfy bed( double) with decent pillows. Good sized room and bathroom with Spa bath and separate shower. However requested walk in shower but this turned out to be a separate shower WITH a high step up/down. Very difficult for an older person especially as NO grab rails( very unsafe). The whole room is dated and needs redecorating also though was very clean. Towel rail in bathroom only worked if room heating was on( not good on a warm day). Restaurant service needs improvement , may be more attention to staff training needed. Easy access around the building . Did not try the pool/ spa. Room 503.

Lovely hotel with everything you could need. Friendly staff and well looked after property. Ideal location with close proximately to the motorway. Excellent privacy for a romantic getaway with the partner.

Just got back from a 2 nights stay for the ABBA Tribute Night. It was a nice relaxing place. The room was a good size for three adults. Away from any noise. Comfy beds, nice shower. The act it's self was brilliant, what a great night, the 3 coarse meal was delicious, drinks a little on the expensive side. The breakfast was lovely. There was loads of choice from continental or full English. Tea, coffee, and juices. The Gravity Bar was a lovely bar. The food was ok, just a little basic, nothing to right home about. There are not a lot of choices for vegetarians. Staff were all polite and helpful. Great place for a little break away with the girls. Excellent value. Swimming pool, Steam room and jacuzzi where all very nice and relaxing. Changing room a little small.

We attended the Murder Mystery event held here. Firstly our room to stay in … it was away from any noise. Quite a big room that was functional. My partner thought the bed was amazing .. it was too soft for me but the bedding was heavy & lovely n cosy. The room was just tired… the bath looked like someone had scribbled on it with a red crayon but the shower was good. There was radiators in the rooms that didn't seem to work but there was another smaller added on rad that did work & it heated the room perfectly well. The event was fantastic .. we had a great time. We stayed for the disco.. everyone else from our table had gone. I understand that this room needed turning around but a lady in a jacket, so a senior staff member I presume…. whipped our tablecloth off & relaid the table. We had drinks in our hands at this point. When she'd finished we went back onto the dance floor leaving our drinks on the table. When we returned, our drinks were on a tray on a chair. It was rude, it was only about 11pm.. why did she not say .. would you mind moving or keeping your glasses in your hands. Unfortunately there's always one!

We always visit this hotel every year and will continue to do so. Relaxation is the name of the game from the minute you arrive! Excellent value for money, amazing menus, friendly staff and a fabulous spa experience! Well done to everyone who contributes to making this a highlight of every year!

Lovely big room, great breakfast and decent evening meal, if a bit pricey. Bar prices a bit steep too. Spa facilities were good. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. Our stay was spoiled by a very noisy boiler which ran day and night, so if you are going to stay here please avoid rooms 701 and 702.

I did a review after our last visit in February 2023 which was a faultless time, however having just returned I feel that I have to point out that the visit we have just had was slightly marred with the dinner credit that was with the groupon deal .You can have a groupon with or without a meal credit so you are actually buying your meal in advance.The option menu is limited we chose to have the Sunday roast and this is where the disappointment came,the dinner consisted of a yorkshire pudding 2 small broccoli heads 2 slices of beef 2 roast potatoes and very very very thin slithers of carrot and parsnip,if all the carrot slithers from all four of our dinners you still wouldn't be able to make a baby one same for the parsnips and all for £19.50 .In essence they were small childrens dishes I brought it to the attention of the restaurant manager that it had never been a Sunday roast and was an over priced rip off ,whilst on the subject of over pricing £25 for a bottle of wine £6.40 a pint.I also spoke with another guest who had to return an afternoon tea as the bread was hard and the pot of tea was cold and in the evening return his wife meal as the chips I quote were stone cold,The staff are pleasant but our room Coul have had better house keeping attention skirting boards very dusty and remnants of crumbs up to skirting boards.I don't like bad pressing this hotel but after bringing he discuss of the meal and only getting a response of sorry I think that way and not thanks for that feedback I will relay your concerns I feel as it was a case of tough matey we have had your money get over it. On checking out you would have though we would have been asked if we had enjoyed our stay and hope to see you again .

The group of actors gave a good performance. Very good value for money. It was a shame that some of the clientele were very noisy making it difficult to hear the actors even though they had microphones. They did say at the beginning that if someone spoke through the microphone there would be clues given. The meal was good and I would recommend.

Very reasonably priced hotel with lovely staff, great location, nice toiletries in the room, bath was nice and deep. Facilities were good in the room, heating was on and welcomed into a nice warm room.

I bought a 2 night break via Groupon, as it had a spa. Looking at the website, it looked lovely and was really looking forward to celebrating my husbands birthday here. Unfortunately, when we checked in,it went down hill, and spoilt the time away. Our room was classed as a superior room(best room). It was very tatty with lumps out the wall, tiles in the shower that were loose, coffee drips down the wall, no bedside tables on both sides due to the room size, to name but a few. I have provided pictures. It definitely didn't feel superior. Room 706. We went back to reception and was told well I've seen the rooms, and they're lovely."She did offer us another room to look at 302. This was better, bigger room, still in need of redecoration. We asked if they were in the middle of a refurbishment? Which was ignored by the lady at reception and offered us another room " to see if that was satisfactory." This room I can't remember the number had an odd smell and smaller than all the others. So, as we had an evening meal booked we decided that we'd go for the best out the 3, room 302. No shower gel in the shower,empty tub. Asked at reception, then fitted it myself. The staff on the whole were lovely ,special mention to Beverly. She went above and beyond. Plus, the young lady who did our massages. Didn't catch her name but very good. I would go again. It was very disappointing. Despite getting a good deal on Groupon, it was still £200. The spa is also in need of a damn good clean, cobwebs,missing tiles, tired again. This hotel needs a lot of money spending on it. It could be an amazing hotel, with great facilities onsite. But the lack of attention and upkeep let's it down big time

Booked 8 places (4 rooms) for what can only be described as a great stay Actors fabulous, great rooms, great facilities and enjoyable evening meal and breakfast. Thank you for a great stay. Will be back again in may

We visited for a Michael Jackson tribute act. We loved it. The hotel is great, we have been before. They are refurbishing and we feel that some of the areas are still a bit tired but the bedrooms were great, we visited the spa area and used the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub. We felt that there wasn't enough seating area. Only a handful of loungers and the pool was full, definitely needs to address this. We found the drinks expensive and of course you're in there so can't do anything about that. The meal was average but we enjoyed what we had, soup, chicken dinner and then a dessert. The tribute act was great and there was music and dancing afterwards. The beds were really comfortable. We had everything we needed, except a socket near the bed. We had to ask for an extension lead as my hubby uses a C.Pap machine for breathing at night. Breakfast the next morning was a little haphazard! We couldn't get in the dining room as it was full so we had to eat in the bar area, not a problem except they hadn't set it up properly as an eating area. We should really have had the tea, coffee and juices in there but we had to traipse back and forth, there were no trays so it was made harder. So back and forth with drinks, then back and forth with what we were eating, then back and forth with toast. This is most definitely something they should look at. If they expect us to use the bar area as a breakfast room then set it up correctly. Put cloths on the tables with salt, pepper, sugar, butter on the table. Set up drinks in there and make trays available for carrying food. Overall experience was good but not exceptional. It's good value for money though, just a few points need addressing.

We had a FABULOUS stay at one of the regular Murder Mystery Nights. None of us had stayed here before or been to a similar event, so we arrived with open minds. The reception team were really helpful, friendly and efficient - a really lovely bunch. Our rooms were spacious and clean, with a super king sized bed and a particularly good bathroom with a walk in rainfall shower and huge fluffy towels. The Murder Mystery was a lot of fun and very well presented by Stirling Murder. Our pre-ordered (inclusive) three course meal was hot, well presented and of good quality. The after-dinner disco was also one of the best we have heard, providing a really good selection of popular music. We found the hotel very quiet overnight, with open views of fields and no traffic noise. Then breakfast - buffet style with a better than average selection of all the usual hot and cold choices. The hot buffet was especially worthy of mention, especially as the hotel was so busy. The breakfast staff did a very good job of keeping everything well stocked and tidy. We cannot fault any element of our stay and it was EXCELLENT value for money too. We have booked our next stay here at one of the tribute nights within a few hours of getting home!

I attended for a murder mystery evening. It's a really nice hotel, nice location, great leisure facilities - decent size pool, A very decent buffet breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. I do recommend this hotel. Had a great experience.

Really dissapointed with the place, it needs modernising and given a soul. The restaurant was so lacking in atmosphere i wish id eaten in the bar, which was better. The cost of the drinks and food were expensive yet the experience was not. I enjoyed the food but the whole ambience was missing

We had a lovely stay at the barn hotel, for the moto tribute night, The entertainment was very good, And the 3 course meal was lovely. The staff are always friendly and helpful, especially the dining room staff!

Booked this hotel for a three night break on a special deal. The hotel is a bit rural so you do need a car. Our room was very spacious,clean and fresh.Bathroom nice with strong shower. Dinner was part of the deal on the first night and we had to wait 45 minutes just for our soup to arrive ,overall it took just short of two hours to finish our meal. There was a coach party staying at the time and I think they waited until there orders were all taken before starting to serve us. Breakfast was fine no problems as it is a help yourself buffet Could not fault the staff in general all very pleasant. The pool, sauna and steam room was nice but the pool depth is 1.5 meters all round so any one with kids that can't swim cannot stand up. Apart from the hiccup in the restaurant on the first night its a nice place and we would stay again

Went on a Tribute night. Loverly clean room,helpful staff. Food fine. The night itself was good and dj, also the company on our table, most people were dancing and having fun. Great value for money we paid.

Absolutely an amazing place, extremely friendly staff, very attentive, great food, plenty of choice, bedrooms are very comfortable, check in staff, very attentive, any question, they,re more than happy to help. The tribute nights, I,d highly recommend.

A lovely 4 day break at this lovely, hotel is a little tired but very clean. Staff are extremely helpful. We ate there on our first night and the food was very good. We also used the spa area which again was very clean. A little remote so you do need a car. It is easy to access points of interest in the surrounding area.

We stayed here for one night and when we arrived, checkin was good, didn't have to wait long for our key but hubby asked for a quiet room as we had been travelling all day. We then went off to the pool to wait for our room key. When we arrived at pool reception, there was no one there as hotel was very quiet. We had read that we needed £1 for a towel so we were prepared. Changing rooms looked fine and they had free lockers, but when I opened the bottom lockers, they were all rotten and mouldy so checked some other and they were all the same so luckily there was some upper ones available. I was surprised to see straighteners available in the changing room so this was a plus. It all looked clean apart from the locker. Pool was fine although some areas looked very worn and used. Hot tub was lovely and we stayed in there for about an hour. Then went to our room which was 301, nice big room and bathroom with bath and walk in shower, plenty of towels and twin sinks. We then went to the bar and ordered some food and a drink which was prompt, friendly and of good quality. We then saw a coach arrive outside and the hotel was the bombarded with a Welsh choir, all of older age and they instantly began singing which could be heard over the Telly in the bar. This went on for about 45 mins and they then proceeded to enter the bar, asked to turn on the rugby and this is when we left and the noise level got much higher as it was a large group of people who basically took over. That evening, the noise from the bar area could be heard until midnight, singing and cheering and kept us awake. When we mentioned this the next morning the girl in reception agreed with the noise level and how loud it was. Breakfast was very nice, plenty on offer and if good quality. The hotel itself looks like it has undergone some refurbishment which is lovely but it's a shame that a coach Larry are allowed to ruin it for other guests. They should of been allocated their own room to have drinks and sing for a consideration for other people in the hotel. It ruined our stay and would not recommend as after reading reviews, this seems a regular event for coach parties to take over the hotel. The charge for one night was a good price but was really spoilt by the coach party.

Stayed as part of a group and the reference to the food might not be applicable if you were travelling solo. The hotel manager was welcoming and helpful as were the staff. The rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. The T.V had its moments which might be due to the WIFI but did not warrant contacting reception. The group breakfast was acceptable but disappointed to note that there was no fresh fruit on offer ( it was tinned fruit) and no grapefruit on one of the days but other tinned fruit was available. There was no deviation from what was on offer as it was explained to me when, for dietary reasons, I asked for a poach egg instead of a fried egg on two occasions and it was refused ( even though I saw scrambled egg being served to another person) The setting was delightful and would stay at the hotel again provided I had a car because of the lack of public transport to go to a nearby village or town.

While some staff were friendly, some were there to do a job that they didn't seem to think involved hotel guests, who are the reason the hotel exists. The room was dirty, the shower smelled, hair and grime on floors and the WORST mattress we have ever experienced. Well past its lifespan and not suitable for anyone to sleep on. The gym and pool are used as a local health club so get very busy and the pool was cloudy and always full of people. Not the tranquil experience or restful getaway we expected from the website. Overall very disappointed. Booked another hotel - with less frills - for our final night in the area and slept much better there.

I took our Secondary Breast Cancer group to a Charity Pamper afternoon at your hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our event so special. Everyone had a brilliant time, and the afternoon tea was delicious.

We went for the murder mystery dinner and an overnight stay. The room was clean and nice and the staff were friendly. Dinner was set and breakfast was included. Unfortunately, I am unable to eat grains, oils or sugars. I informed the hotel of this the week before. They asked me for a list of foods I could eat and on receipt of it, told me that the chef could accommodate me and make me something nice. This did not happen. I didn't have a starter and my dinner was 2 slices of beef. When dessert came I was asked if I wanted lemon pie or chocolate pie. I asked if I could have cheese. I was told that I couldn't because it wasn't on the menu. I was really hungry. I insisted the waitress ask the chef. She came back with 3 tiny triangles of cheese on a small plate. The breakfast all looked greasy except for the bacon. I ate 5 rashers. I was starving and there was nothing else. The bacon had been cooked in vegetable oil and today I am in bed sick. I don't know if I will be well for work tomorrow. My husband enjoyed his food. It's great if you don't have any special requests. It's just I don't like the stares and questions of others on my table because I am not eating and I don't like being asked for details and reassured when it doesn't happen.

We have been to this hotel many times over the years and have seen it change ownership many times. It is now a Best Western+ and the decor Is very good. Staff and cleanliness also very good. Great leisure facilities all in working order and very clean.

The shower in the room was faulty, the duty manager was very helpful and moved us to another room. The only minor niggles were that the water pressure in the room was poor , and the shower floor was slippy. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay . This is a lovely hotel . The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was spotlessly clean, the food lovely. We will definitely stay here again.

Nice room with easy access to everything.The spa facilities were great. There was a long wait at dinner due to kitchen issues. However, the food was delicious and the complimentary wine made up for it.

We had a lovely night's stay to attend a Murder Mystery evening, which was great fun and made an excellent evening after a day exploring Grantham. They have a gym and a 15 m pool which was a bonus. The hotel staff were very hard working and friendly and we particularly enjoyed the breakfast (which had the same staff working despite only a few hours sleep)

We booked a Superior room, joke or what, dirty stained carpets, leaking cold tap in bathroom, fan sounded like a moped revving up. Skylight windows frame once opened were filthy. Badly stained divans and mattresses stored along the fire exit corridor, these were marked with Room 1007 and that's where they finally ended up. Our bed, the balance was stapled to it! fire exit door was rotten and you could see daylight. Painters in Mai ground floor corridor, no warning signs painting in progress or wet paint. Then left unattended on the floor, assumeT break time. Spa tired. Didn't use it. The linen and towels were spotless and the breakfast was ok

En route south from Leeds we stopped off for short break and a bar lunch before setting off again to London, it is just a short distance off the A1. We highly recommend the Olde Barn as an Ideal venue for a stop over.

Firstly, I would say all the staff were very nice. Check-in was haphazard - not recorded that we'd paid for breakfast and we'd be allocated a twin room instead of double. Both sorted speedily. However, the shower had no water pressure- my husband lathered up but couldn't get enough water out to rinse! We both had to take baths, which isn't eco-friendly or what we like. The biggest beef is that, after being out all day and wanting a quiet evening eating I'm the hotel was totally overwhelmed by a coach party and/or private function and told us food would not be available for guests until much later, when they'd catered for that. We then had to drive to a nearby village where we were lucky enough to find a pub that served food. It's really not acceptable to sideline your guests in that way - if you have got a lot of people coming then plan and prepare for it!

Room nice and manager was very helpful as were the staff. However despite being guests the kitchen was apparently overwhelmed and we could not eat there in the evening. We had to drive around to find somewhere to eat. We could not relax and it spoilt the trip. Also extraction fan in bathroom didn't work

Very convenient and great spot for relaxing. Meeting up with family who are close by. Excellent facilities, room clean and functional. Relaxed atmosphere through out out stay. Staff very attentive even when bar got extremely busy on the second evening our stay.

The hotel and the staff really nice..if your on a coach trip eating bed breakfast evening meal…be prepared to be disappointed or pay more and eat in the main restaurant because the food you pay for on your coach trip is poor at best.

We stayed here to save driving to Lincolnshire and back in the same day due to the amount of roadworks on the A1 & M62. We were very pleased we chose the Olde Barn Hotel. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable. Nice to be able to have a swim and a sauna after check in prior to our evening meal. The restaurant doesn't claim to be a “fine dining” experience, however our meal was a good homely meal which we enjoyed. A late checkout (11am) allowed us to have another swim and sauna. The breakfast we found very good. The bar wasn't the cheapest I've experienced in hotels infact at over £20 for a double whisky and a double gin, I feel is quite expensive…The staff were great and well informed, courteous and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We went as part of a coach party (Crusader, who are very good, in my opinion). We were given our keys (along with tea/coffee/biscuits) upon arrival very efficiently. Our room was very spacious and inviting, clean and no problems. The staff were all very helpful. We enjoyed a Murder Mystery event along with our dinner which was great fun and very well performed by the 4 actors involved. The dinner itself could have been hotter, but then we must understand that they were catering for 3 coachloads in the dining room, so we can forgive that. I have to say I wasn't impressed with the breakfast, but that is the only downside. Otherwise, a very nice hotel and we had a good time.

Dolly Parton what a night! Organised a surprise break for a friend and it was amazing. The food was delicious, the staff efficient and Dolly Parton utterly brilliant. Would definitely book to see her again and other acts!

Slow dining room service of 2 hrs for evening meal on an evening that was definitely not busy. Bathroom had tap which comes off in your hand and cleaner only puts back but does not repair and same with shower gel dispenser which was split

Despite having an absolute terrible previous stay and big conversation with manager requesting us to give them another chance to show us the proper hotel we decided to give them a chance what a big mistake having booked a specific room a month ahead and filled in e mailed forms we arrived and was giver the room key which didn't work they then gave us another electronic key which worked only to find another couple inthe room don't forget this is appeasing us after loads of problems last. time we arrived for pre booked dinner after finding another room to find we were the third couple this had happened to despite two managers on reception what a joke the food was warm and the steak a bit of meat on grizzle instead of the other way round we had that and went to bed nexst the breakfast was cold nexst morning mostly inedible the girl said they were going to spend money ot needs decent chefs and hot plates for a start decided to eat in the bar which was quite busy so sat by partition by kichen advise don't sit there if you can't stand filthy language by the kichen staff the meal was just about edible and warm and that being right by the kichen I can only say this whole episode after being asked to give them another chance after the disaster last Time see my previous review we stayed on our way to a Mablethorpe bed and breakfast who there management could do with lessons from this place is an absolute nightmare they should refund my payment and thank god I STAYED in this disaster of a place if you stay you will get what you deserve as the managers rush off to go into hiding good luck I warned you.

Not really sure where to start! Booked in for our stay in a ‘Superior' room - well it was far from that & nothing like the write up! The room was dismal to say the least. Our ordinal room was so bad we asked to be moved. Unfortunately the 2nd room was just as appalling. This really is a FILTHY hotel & needs to be brought up to at least a basic standard. There was mould around the bath, the mattress had massive urine stains & & everything is just old & extremely grubby. The restaurant was full of flies, which were everywhere, even at breakfast they were all over the food. We had a deal for 2 nights all pre-paid, but we could not spend a second night in this awful place, so we left the following morning even though we'd paid. It is so bad that we chose to lose the money rather than stay. Externally at first glance it seems ok, but that's it. The carpets everywhere are held together with tape every couple of feet. A coach driver was chatting to us when we arrived & we're booking in as he was waiting to book his coach party in also. The next morning we saw him again & he said he was going to tell his company that they need to find another hotel!! That's how bad this place is. Don't waste you're hard earned money as it is atrocious.

We have stayed here many times and have always had an enjoyable stay. We asked for a walk in shower as my Mom has replacement joints and we had a walk in shower and a bath. The breakfast was excellent- good quality ingredients and very well cooked !! We will be back as we have enjoyed several murder/ mystery overnight stays.

this is the third stay my husband and I have made through travelzoo - we are particularly impressed with the quality of the disabled room especially the bathroom breakfast and dinner were both fine the stay was good value for money

We went for the night on a fizz and afternoon tea deal. Afternoon tea was lovely and Jenna's friendly personality when she kept topping us up was the icing on the cake! Fabulous facial each…thank you Liv. I suppose if there was any constructive criticism to give it would be that the room could do with modernising as could the pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast was good and overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

We as a couple have stayed here many times and always enjoy our stay, pleasent staff, room allocated was what we requested,lovely view, bed comfy, nice and clean as always, swim, sauna , steam and jacuzzi all working, as we come on a 1 night stay with evening meal and breakfast included in the price we ate in the bar , this is where we were disappointed, the food was just not up to par, not sure if this is because they were very busy with a murder mysystery night , we went down to eat at 6.30pm to try and not hit the busy time , first our order was messed up, mistakes are made I understand , this was quickly sorted by the bar man, was charged for chilly beef but didnt get it, the garlic bread was burnt , the gammon steak was tough, the fish was so thin it was like just eating batter,the chips were cold and overcooked the bar man /waiter couldnot apoligise enough to the point where I felt sorry for him, the dessert was great! so we left with a smile but to be honest if the meal was not included in the price for my stay I wouldnot of paid , we have stayed here lots of times and this is the first time we have encountered low quality food like this, maybe the chef was having an off day !

Excellent evening with friendly actors and a good honest meal. Drinks were a little pricey but didn't go to get drunk!. Leisure facilities were good too and enjoyed some time in the pool, steam room and sauna. Comfortable bed and spacious room.. Room was very warm but fan provided.

I spent 4 nights here this week with a coach party. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. Nothing too much trouble. Couldn't fault them. Apart from that, it was very poor. The food was barely passable. Distinct lack of choice and very few vegetables. Lucky if you got 6 beans. Usually not hot. Very slow service. My room didn't have a light next to the bed, so I had to leave the bathroom light on all night with the door open a crack, as I was worried about getting up in the night. Very poor mattress and hard pillows. The bathroom was good but rest of room quite shabby. For the price paid, it was poor value.

First of all want to say the staff were amazing and very attentive. There was a mix up with our booking on arrival where they appeared to have double booked our room, and although you don't expect this and it was an inconvenience, the staff could not be more apologetic and dealt with it quickly and professionally. Ample parking, however with the pub being busy and also using the car park, just be prepared to walk a little way. We felt the room was very basic and small, very bland and only had a bedside table on one side of the bed, the other was so close to the wall there was nothing. No plugs near the bed either, so phones etc have to be charged at the other side of the room. Even then there was only one plug socket available as we had to have the fan plugged in to the other due to the room being so hot. Their is no air conditioning at this hotel, however they did provide fans to try to cool the room down, just unfortunately still remained very hot. The bathroom was okay, again very basic and some mould etc about but was functional. We did have a relatively good night sleep, bed was a little firm for our liking but we know everyone is different! The full English breakfast was nice, but this was extra money. My partner also felt some of his sausages tasted a bit ‘off'. Again, when we informed staff this was dealt with professionally straight away. Overall, I think we expected more for the money as it was supposed to be a ‘deluxe' room and didn't really feel this way. Think for the price of the stay we just expected something a little more.

Very dated. Definitely not 'luxurious' as stated in hotel info. Felt unclean staying there. Stains on bed mattress as protector not wide enough for bed. Flies on food in dining room, particularly on buffet breakfast items, including the hot food. Paid for two nights but left after only one night. Wouldn't recommend.

Not worth the price! Old fashioned decor, extremely uncomfortable bed (was told in the morning mattresses were new) I very much doubt that. Spa not open for bookings and pool nothing like pic on website. Decent evening meal but wine bottle not opened or offered to try it, asked for soda water and was brought it in a pint glass! Very poor breakfast, not good produce and very poor presentation. Would seriously reconsider your staff, a smile in the restaurant would have been nice

Me and my friends spend the night at the mystery murdered event, it was a great experience we loved it, food was excellent, stuff was very helpful, rooms was clean, I would definitely coming here again.

We had a wonderful family lunch together in the Newton Suite. Everything came together smoothly from my first contact with Jane to discuss dates, venue and menus. The hotel location - in rural peace but with easy access to the A1 - was ideal. The facilities - ample parking, special room rates for guests staying over and the spa at their disposal - were ideal. The choice of options for the final menu was wide enough to meet the needs of all of the guests, including a range of dietary requirements, and they were all very pleased with their meals. The quality of the roast beef and the delicious desserts (lemon tart and Eton mess) were particularly praised! The Newton Suite was the ideal size for us, with room for tables to display family trees and 150 years-worth of photographs, as well as three celebration cakes. The direct access to a private outside space with seating, tables and parasols was a real bonus when the afternoon proved fine. But what was really special was the warmth of the welcome and the friendly professionalism of the staff who made it all possible, both in the run up to the event and on the day itself. We'll be happy to return the next time we have a reason to celebrate together, and might well do so again even if we can't find any such excuse!

A good hotel. Super large parking where in my case I could park opposite my room, impecably clean, well priced bar drink and food, just off A1, excellent staff, etc. My only 'fault' was that sound proofing between rooms wasn't great. However I would absolutely stay again.

I stayed here last Wednesday for £95 for the one night, the room was super outdated old beach wood furniture and a small tv with a broken remote, the only good side was the bathroom which I would guess it's the only money the hotel has had spent on it in the last 10 years, really lovely wash room and big open walk in shower. The spa is not really a spa it's an old 15m swimming pool with a nice sauna and steam room. The changing rooms are a disgrace could not change the temperature on the first 2 showers I tried, all the bathroom sealant and grout was all black and mouldy and coming away. The gym is like something out of the 1970's

Stayed for a murder mystery evening which was very well done - who did it was ridiculous and made no sense but we had a great laugh. The drinks prices are shocking. We expected a mark up but these prices belong in Harrods not a Best Western near Grantham. If you are staying here take your own drinks with you if you are to have any chance of leaving satisfied. Everything else is band average and what I would expect from a Best Western and the cost of the visit was very reasonable. It's just the drink prices today have left a very sour taste

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay. Made use of the spa area, pool was excellent. Rooms are very clean, comfortable, well equipped and had a great night's sleep sandwiched between a lovely dinner and excellent breakfast. The staff are polite, helpful and focused. The owners of the property should be be proud of their staff here and consequently the hotel itself. They ensure that it's very clean and welcoming.

The rooms are ok decent size, nowhere to put toiletries in shower plus very small shower screens, floor is swimming in water. The cooked breakfast was poor - the bacon looked as if it had been steamed or boiled, The food containers had hinged lids which when lifted dripped lots of moisture onto the food - horrible! The evening meals were acceptable. The staff were the best part of this hotel very pleasant and helpful

Dated hotel needs painting in and out, beds were awful not premier inn standard and for a spa shocking and the food was worse than a transport cafe, powdery chicken currys from iceland and breakfast rank and luke warm, not worth the payment..

The reception & sitting room is nicely decorated but the rest of the hotel is in need of an upgrade & redecorating. Staff friendly & helpful. Bed not comfy I could feel springs. A more varied menu would be better & changed each night.

Although food was ok breakfast was a shambles had to ask for bowls bread apple juice and napkins to lift very hot plates on one day we returned to our room and the door had been left open by the housekeeper luckily nothing taken as purse I pad and valuables in room

Lovely hotel, lovely spacious room. The staff are lovely and really helpful. My only complaint was the music in the dining room. ( hence the 4 stars) There was only one tune! It was a piano tune which played on repeat every 3 minutes, so after and hour and a half having our dinner it must have played over and over at least 30 times. I was with a party and everyone was complaining about it. When I asked the staff and assistant manager if it could be changed or turned down I was told they weren't allowed to and we had to more or less put up with it. As we were staying for 4 night you can imagine how irritating it was when it played twice a day at dinner and then again at breakfast!

We did not get off to a good start when our room was at the very end of the corridor, as far away from reception as it was possible to get, and the key didn't work. However, the room, when we did get inside, was spacious and comfortable, with bath and shower. Being so far away from the hotel amenities did mean that it was quiet! Dinner was average, with poor service. Breakfast was also adequate.

We've just this minute returned from a relaxing few nights stay at The Olde Barn and had a fantastic time. Very easy to locate, just a mile off the A1 north of Grantham, on the Toll bar road to Marston village - no problem. Plenty of parking in front and at the rear of the hotel reception. On arrival we had a very friendly and efficient check in, so getting our room key was a speedy affair. (first thumbs up!) Our room (a standard one) was very spacious and nicely laid out, with all you'd expect from such. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom had an excellent shower. (thumbs up number 2) In the health centre there is a good sized swimming pool, a sauna, a steamroom and jaccuzzi pool We used all multiple times (as you do) and enjoyed the relaxation. It was never over-full so all the more enjoyable. There is also a well equipped gym, which we also took advantage of. There are two rooms of gym equipment (weights/ machines (treadmill, bikes etc etc), as well as a room for mat exercises/classes etc. A fantastic little gym. Also in the health centre is an area for treatments (massages etc). I did book a treatment at the last minute as they had some free slots, and it was amazingly good. (Liv, you have magic hands!). All in all a lovely health centre (another thumbs up) The food - wow!! The evening meal in the restaurant (set meal with a few choices) was incredibly tasty. The portions were good (especially the cod) and the food itself was superb. (if you're ever there and get a chance to try the "spiced panna cotta" don't hesitate - it is to die for!) Second night we ate in the bar area - just as fantastic in there too. Great sized portions of delicious food. The breakfast was the usual buffet affair, with juices, fruits and cereals, cooked and toast. All you'd normally expect to find. No complaints whatsoever - loved the eating! (another thumbs up). So I must mention the staff. They were some of the friendliest and most helpful staff we've ever come accross. (Lexi, you are a star). They were always on hand to help, from reception right through, from the restaurant, the bar, the health centre, the cleaning staff and the kitchen. Top marks to all of you. (two thumbs up this time). So thanks to all at the Olde Barn Hotel. We had a lovely, relaxing few days, and now we know where you are, we shall be back. Thank you!

Had a very good weekend at this hotel. We have stayed here before with another couple, about 2/3 years ago. The breakfast buffet is now in a different position as last time. We think it was better before. It is now in a draughty place near the doorway, ,also there was a fan blowing over the buffet, the food could have been hotter. We had an evening meal on the Saturday night night but the service was a bit too long, needs to be a bit quicker., but we would still come again.

Just enjoyed a spa break with friends at the Olde Barn Hotel which was excellent value for money. We had a lovely afternoon tea on arrival and a delicious evening meal later in the restaurant. Some of the communal areas could do with a refresh but the library/lounge and the bedrooms were lovely. The staff were extremely helpful, especially Lexi who went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay and dealt with a small problem with my meal quickly and efficiently (a big thank you to her). We also enjoyed using the spa; the pool was a good size and everywhere was clean and tidy.

The hotel looked promising on the internet so we booked for 1 night looking forward to the pool. The hotel is tired, shabby, dirty paint work, scruffy staff, mattresses in corridors, fire doors jammed open all over the hotel to allow access in and out (really didn't feel safe during the night)! Carpets need a thorough clean, bar seats shabby, Astro turf in garden tatty, windows wooden and old and decaying. Hotel is unloved, gardens are scruffy, staff were not well dressed and had attitude! I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean, fresh, welcoming, warm hotel with modern good quality fittings et. - it is non of these things!

Jane (working on 27/1/23 around 11am) was absolutely fabulous and great customer services. Unfortunately the reception staff and management at 3pm did not maintain Jane's cheerful, customer service based attitude. Still, Jane made our stay that little bit more special. Thank you Jane

A massive thank you to Jane who went above and beyond and lent me something from the kitchen to help me surprise my friend for her 50th birthday. Jane was so helpful and really saved the day. Facial was also lovely and relaxing

The hotel was really good at catering for my disabilities. I had an excellent room on the ground floor, found it really easy to move around the building with my mobility aid. The breakfast selection was good and I also enjoyed a lovely meal in the bar area. The leisure centre was really nice, not too busy and again I found access to be excellent. I found all members of staff to be polite and helpful.

We stayed for two nights, check in was quick. The room was large with a king size comfortable bed, good shower, the heating could be turned down or off if it became too hot. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the dinner/breakfasts were very good, All the staff were friendly and helpful. We would like to say a special thank you to Dulce and Elsa (from the restaurant) for their friendly, helpful service. Great friendly staff, great food - thank you Olde Barn Hotel

We stayed for two nights on the 17th -19th January. Room was ok and nice and warm ( freezing outside). Had a bar meal on the first night which unfortunately wasn't the best. My husband's fish and chips arrived cold and my steak was far too well overcooked and dry. Following night we ate in the restaurant and the meal was much better. Breakfast had a variety of choices and was good. . Jane one of the waitresses was so friendly and gave us lots of information on the area suggesting we went to Stanford. Had a lovely walk round such a pretty town.

Nice hotel lovely room bathroom with jacuzzi bath would definitely come again cream tea was amazing and the evening meal we had in the bar was good value for money breakfast was okay there was a wedding on but there was no noise didn't hear anything swimming pool and massage was good husband really enjoyed that

Came to this hotel for the first time for a murder mystery event and I can say I was very pleasanty surprised. The staff were extremely friendly, approachable and helpful and the rooms were excellent value for money. The use of the facilities was really good and everything was clean and tidy. The only slight downfall was breakfast as they ran out of some food items - however, as it was hosting an event the hotel was very busy with guests and I am sure this would not have been the case on a normal day. The choice of breakfast items was good ranging from full english to cereals, fruit, yoghurts, pastries and coffee/tea so can not complain at that for the value for money. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Hotel not to bad low budget but still good value !! Well positioned for Grantham town ! Food was average good service from Jane in the restaurant and the Portuguese waiter !!! Leisure was ok and very peaceful area !!! Would go again !!!

Excellent hotel with good amenities and friendly staff, Jane was especially helpful to my family at breakfast as she provided hands on service as our dogs weren't allowed in the restaurant which was greatly appreciated as we had driven up from the South of France and were very tired-would stay again

We were taking advantage of a Travelzoo offer where we paid for 3 nights in a superior room, 3 course meal and breakfast each morning. Bullet points * Superior Room was not superior * Downgraded to a standard/basic room * Downgraded room was noisy in the mornings * Evening meal was the worst we have had in a restaurant ever * As a result we only stayed for 2 nights not 3 * For more details see below. The first room we were offered was room 712, which is classed as a superior room, in my opinion this cannot be classed as a superior room, the bed is against the wall in 2 places so the only access to get into the bed is from one side or the bottom of the bed (if one person is already in bed then the other has to either climb over the first person or climb in from the bottom and crawl up to get in), very unsatisfactory and not superior! Because of the location of the bed there was only one bedside table, if we wanted to laze in a morning with a drink of coffee watching the news on Tv this is impossible for one of the guests (no table for drink). Because of this we requested an alternative room with access from both sides of the bed and 2 bedside tables, we were offered room 914 which met our request (access to the bed from both sides and a table at both sides) but was a downgrade from a superior room to a standard/basic room. This room was obviously meant for a worker as it was on the side where all the workers vans are parked, so in the mornings (on the dates we stayed it was freezing with ice on the windscreens) workers went to their vans at 7am started them, revved them and left them running whilst they scraped the windscreens. The 3 course meal was one of the worst we have had in a restaurant, nothing we asked for was cooked to order, not even the toast that came with the garlic mushroom starter! My wife ordered the Baked Salmon with spinach and pea risotto, what she got was overcooked boiled salmon on mash potato and cabbage! I ordered the Cumberland sausage which I believe was also boiled to cook it. (The method used to cook both dish's I think is to place the main ingredient submerged in water leaving just the top of it showing so that part browned off. Boiled tasteless food) The only saving grace for the hotel was the use of the Health Club which is very good. As a result of our experience we only stayed for 2 nights not 3 and left early afternoon of the second day. If the idea of the Travelzoo offer is to display the hotel and encourage revisits then they failed badly.

The Olde Barn Hotel is in a quiet countryside location. It has a friendly atmosphere with welcoming staff. The rooms are clean and well serviced, the food is well cooked and tasty. The pool and spa facilities are clean and in good order

My husband and I and our two close friends were at the New Year's Eve package do last night 31/12/22 and were very pleased with event. The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The evening meal was lovely (apparently received some complaints, don't honestly know why.) Breakfast was great with plenty of choices. We enjoyed it so much we have decided to book one of the tribute act events in January. No hassle of booking taxis and looking forward to another lovely evening. Thank you.

Room hadn't been updated since I last stayed 25 years ago. Last entry to pool, sauna, jacuzzi is 5pm and closes until 9am. No customer care. No information available. Back door swinging open noisely all night.

Arrived on Friday the 23rd December. The room was good. The main dinner arrived at the table luke warm. The meat was hard to chew. The desert was luke warm. The entertainment at night was good on Xmas night and boxing night. It should have had a Christmas atmosphere but the waiter and waitress hardly smiled much, not much communication with the residents apart from a waitress called jane. If it wasn't for her it would have felt dreary. She made us laugh. No Christmas spirit from the other waiters, waitress. I noticed that hardly anyone from our coach touched their food. We did complain to the superviser. We had to keep asking for cups of tea, coffee as they were only offered certain times. Other hotels have coffee, tea on the go all the time. The hotel was clean. Just a shame the staff were less talkative at some meal times. I got he impression they were short staffed .

Just returned from a 3 day stay here and absolutely cannot fault the place! Every member of staff was kind, helpful and friendly - special mention to Beverley, Didi the deputy manager and also Jenna Phil & James on bar - thank you to each and every one of you for making our stay extra special! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the food was brilliant quality. We were fortunate enough to spend some time with the owners who are the kindest, most genuine people you will ever meet. With a spa, swimming pool, great staff and great food, this place is a fantastically priced little gem which you would kick yourself for missing. We fully intend to return asap and will be recommending this welcoming place to all of our friends. Huge thanks and best wishes to the whole Olde Barn team - may 2023 bring you all the success you deserve!

On December 21st we visited the Olde Barn hotel and on arrival we recieved a very warm welcome at the reception having checked-in we opted to have lunch in the bar and there was a good selection on the menu and it was enjoyable, by this time our room 707was ready and a quick check around everything was clean and tidy. In the evening we decided to dine in the dining room and again an excellent selection to choose from and i opted for the slow pork and it was a good choice, breakfast had all option available. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Well done to the team at the Olde Barn.

We booked for my sisters wedding which was being held at the venue. We managed to secure an early check in at 12:00 for an additional cost. We booked the superior double room for £107. There was nothing special about the room. The bathroom door doesn't close unless you lock it. There was stains on the carpet, chunks missing out the skirting boards, marks on the walls and was in general need of serious refurbishment.

Absolutely loved the olde barn. The staff were fabulous. Nothing was to much trouble at all. Food was great. Prices were good. We had afternoon tea brought to our room which was lovely. It was lovely and clean and warm as well. I would definitely recommend a stay here. There are spa facilities and a pool but we didn't use those but will next time, we re booked before we left to go again. And can not wait.

Lovely and comfortable rooms, welcoming staff. Jane at breakfast was fantastic, happy and welcoming, always had a smile on her face, She is a Gem 3 Course meal Xmas party and Disco, lovely function Rooms, just a thing to note, the starter was lovely and tasty, main course was nice, Dessert was disappointing, Flat chocolate mousse and Cheesecake very strange, it was a lovely night all in all though, maybe a tweaking of the menu/recipes slightly,

Lovely peaceful 3*hotel. Lovely helpful, friendly staff. Dinner was inedible. Breakfast was nice, although limited, especially if you do not eat meat. You will need to drive if you want to go out anywhere. Taxi is about £16 to Grantham town centre.

My husband and I come here once a year for a nice break. We love the relaxing atmosphere and the beds are so comfy. All the staff are great and go above and beyond to do what they can for you. We always eat in the bar and the food is always spot on. See you again next year.

Booked for a Birthday getaway before Christmas. Received a warm welcome at reception. Room was clean, leisure centre nice and relaxing. Three course meal in restaurant was excellent, so tasty and really good value for money. Breakfast was good. Jane so friendly and helpful suggesting places for us to visit. Overall, excellent with the staff make it a welcoming place to stay.

Good place to meet with friends for a pre Christmas stay. Had enjoyable stay where staff were very friendly throughout. Particularly helpful was Jane the ‘breakfast lady' who was very cheerful and chatty whilst collecting the plates etc.

Very enjoyable stay. All staff were very friendly but Jane, a member of the breakfast staff, was extremely helpful and amusing during our breakfast. Would stay there again as was a good place to meet friends.

Just got home from 4 nights stay at The Olde Barn Inn! We booked through Virgin Experience and got breakfast and 2x afternoon tea included. The reception and lounge/library are very modern and as soon as you walk further into the hotel, its like walking back in time! Our room (607) was supposed to be "superior" but was like something out of the 1970s. Very dated and tired. The restaurant was also very much the same - tired and dingey and not somewhere you'd want to eat a meal! Food wise, breakfast was the best food we ate here and that was a 4/10 at a push! The bar meals were terrible and tasteless and the afternoon tea had frozen cake and dry sandwiches! One plus, Jane (breakfasts staff) and Jenna (bar staff) were very friendly. Definitely wouldn't be returning to this hotel and I wouldn't recommend you do either.

Both my husband and myself had massages during our two night stay. I highly recommend having a treatment with the amazing Diana. I can honestly say my massage was the best I've ever had and was completely adapted to the problem areas I have with my neck and shoulders. Amazing… thank you

Great hotel with swimming pool and spa in a quiet location. Breakfast was delicious and helped by the excellent customer service from Jane, she was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend and definitely stay again.

Clean room with a nice bathroom, the hotel has a relaxing swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. Fantastic breakfasts, buffet style, with a choice of full English, plus toast, pastries, jam etc, and a fresh and tasty evening meal - it's not a country manor or a five star hotel, but it's a great place to chill for a day or two! Staff were helpful and pleasant, many thanks.

We had a super two nights at the olde barn hotel. From booking in the staff were mega helpful and it felt like home from home. A couple of things went wrong , the tv didn't work at first. But that was soon put right. The staff did everything in their power to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was very good, we had two evening meals and two breakfasts. The hotel was very busy with different parties in, but there was plenty of staff to cope. The dining staff were also very helpful and friendly. The room was spotless and refurbished, I can't speak highly enough of the hotel. It is quite a long way from home, but if ever we are in the area we will definitely go back. We did have a look at the pool and facilities and they all looked very good

Staff all friendly and helpful. Room spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good quality, including Lincolnshire sausages - biggest negative was the tea & coffee. We didn't eat at the hotel, partly because we felt the restaurant didn't have a good atmosphere whilst the bar was characterless. Good size pool at a reasonable temperature. Jacuzzi enjoyable. We would visit the hotel again.

Stayed for one night with my sister, using a Travelzoo voucher for a three course meal and use of the spa. Rooms: We had realistic expectations as we know it's a 3 star hotel, and given the low cost deal we knew not to expect five star luxury. The rooms were ok - bathroom and bedding etc clean enough, although there were stains on the carpet, the room was hot and stuffy and the pillow was very uncomfortable. But it's what I'd pretty much expect for that price and star rating. Spa/health club: Spa was a little tired/old fashioned looking but clean enough and we enjoyed the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. We had a massage each, which was excellent, no complaints there. Restaurant: Dated and dark room with cheap looking carpet and decor, and chaotically placed tables. I could have overlooked this if it wasn't for the generally unpleasant experience that followed. We were seated next to two other couples, our tables almost touching, which was awkward enough, but also bizarre given that the restaurant was almost empty. The waitress was abrupt and had limited social skills, coming over and barking at us "what do you want then?" before we had chance to look at the menu. I wouldn't say she was rude exactly, but perhaps not a natural at providing good customer service! She also started noisily prepping for the breakfast service whilst we were still eating, which didn't exactly create a relaxing ambience. Food: Unfortunately the food was pretty awful and not at all what I'd expect to be served in a "restaurant". It was akin to hospital food or a work canteen, and that's being quite generous. Firstly the choice of meals was uninspiring, dated and unappealing. We opted for garlic mushrooms to start, which came with stale, cold toast but was otherwise ok. Next up was baked salmon, that was advertised as being served with creamed spinach and pea risotto but instead came with a heap of inedible sticky rice, frozen carrots, and a pile of over-boiled, pale cabbage. Nothing was seasoned. It was a struggle to eat any of it. For dessert we chose a lemon tart and "chocolate pot". The tart was ok, but clearly had never seen a fresh lemon and I'd guess it was frozen. The chocolate pot was a ramekin of some sort of ganache. Not much flavour and served with a sad looking shortbread biscuit (from a packet). The wine was horrible and expensive. We couldn't stomach any of the cooked breakfast the following morning after the experience with the food on the previous evening, and opted instead for cereals, toast and croissants. The cooked breakfast didn't look very appealing - expect greasy spoon style quality. We avoided the "fresh fruit" that was actually tinned fruit cocktail swimming in a brow, in liquid. The coffee, served in an urn was grey and cold. The hotel has potential but needs a dramatic freshen up and the menu needs a big overhaul. It's all incredibly dated and a bit sad. Given the hostile and defensive attitude of the manager replying to previous posts I don't expect that he will be looking for any constructive feedback, but perhaps he could consider getting a fresh pair of eyes to update the menu and decor, give the staff customer service training,

This is so hard because I used an experience day voucher for this trip and boy was it wasted. I too believed the spiel of the site as to how amazing it all looks and the write up. Firstly I know what ever I write I will get a condescending reply from David, if I actually read his comments on other criticism I definitely would have picked somewhere else. Either learn from the criticism and be dignified or carry on getting the same reviews and lose future customers. Firstly the outside is gorgeous, the welcoming staff were lovely but one tip we are visitors we don't know our way around the hotel so give a minute to tell us bar toilets restaurant. I walked past restaurant several times. Room well great start with my disabled hubby got all the way to our room and key card didn't work and no it wasn't anywhere near my phone. Luckily the cleaning staff ran around to find a key. Thankyou cleaning staff. Room was clean and inviting. It was a very hot room opened window but struggled all night . No fan, no air con. This must have once been an amazing hotel but now it's lacklustre, dated , and uncomfortable. Room is lovely but carpet needs replacement, bathroom we had was ok no mould or anything . Bed is weird they have put a soft topper which is smaller on a hard mattress. It's rock hard to sleep on or toss and turn all night and wake up tired. For a “superior “ it lacks any wow factor most other superior rooms I've stayed in are far more luxurious. Breakfast well where do I start again nice welcoming from gentleman outside then you go in !! Our table was next to a slug trail dirty carpet, surely you could have brushed the trails away before you started breakfast. The food was awful, bacon that was covered in white solid fats and rind that was white and flabby No crispness at all. Eggs hard but congealed on top of yolk, sausage was probably manufactured in the cheapest place possible. No browning at all they were honestly the blandest unappealing things I've ever seen sitting in a metal tray with a layer of thick grease. For gods sake just up the game , you had two staff walking around doing a circuit at least let them make drinks , I mean milk in an urn is stupid. It's pure laziness and the mentality of the whole place. Bed not great breakfast poor save your money and go elsewhere. We looked so forward to this trip and am gutted. Your hard earned money or precious gift vouchers are deserved else where . By the way the security in this place is a joke doors left open with bricks so anyone can come and go!!

When I first arrived for my stay whilst training for openreach I thought the hotel was nice and I would have a good 5 night stay. After the first night it wasn't. The rooms are dirty marks all over the wall lime scale on all the taps and shower head. I turned the shower on and the water smelt horrific. The food is below average the meal prep is like the chef can't be bothered to cook. It's like they just throw your food on the plate without care. The staff are careless and don't apologize if the food needs to be sent back no communication between the staff and customers. They seem careless themselves. The positives are the spa and pool are okay. The cleaners are suppose to clean your room but I have crumbs that have been there since I arrived. The lunch provided for openreach is terrible they don't ask if anyone is allergic to anything they just provide you with a sandwich crips and a chocolate bar. A few of the days was a snickers and someone could have been severely allergic to nuts. The sandwich was egg mayo which someone could have been lactose. One of the managers she was a lady fairly old. She had an attitude when serving customers in the restaurant. Bringing orders out shouting asking who the foods for when the waiters/waitresses should know where the food is going. The rooms are very thin and you can hear everything surrounding you so very noisy at night and can hear everything that's happening in the corridors. Overall I wouldn't recommend openreach or general public to stay at this hotel because it's not the most hygienic and pleasant stay you will have. I would advise staying else where.

I give 2 stars because because i only like their gym/ spa facilities with the large, modern toilet/bathroom in our room. Otherwise that would be 1 star! We found "snot" on the wall just over the bed. Previous hotel guest must be very dirty and disrespectful, housekeepers even did not notice that. I had to remove myself from the wall. I don't want to see when i open my eyes and see someone elses .... on the wall. Breakfast options should be continental and British, everyone don't like traditional British breakfast. Heating/Radiators did not work, a men who bring the electric heater he said "boiler is broken" but it is totally lie. Because hot water and restaurant/pub's heating/radiators did work and was very hot even i could not touch my hands more than 3 secs!. Don't tell lie to your guests, you ve been caught and your guest is more angry now! I had to request mini electric radiators from reception for heating. Hotel just wants to save more money but their way and strategy is very wrong and this will cause to get more negative reviews and potential effect to lose more guests. The Room view given us is the worst and the most terrible one. You come miles away to see countrside greens, trees etc. I attach some room pics and outside view from the room. And you will say "you are right" for me. Room 301! I would not stay again! I spent about £50 petrol for my return trip for to stay at "WARM ROOM" and "PERFECT VIEW" . Does it worth to stay, absolutely not! I don't recommend.

Absolutely shocking. we have stayed in many best Western Hotels in the past that have been first class. We checked in this hotel on our way down to meet family for a one night stay. The room is awful. It's classed as an executive room very bad carpet stains paintwork chipped all over the place curtains that don't fit I can go on and on. It's nowhere near close to an executive I dread to think what a standard room is. We went t9 order food in the bar to be told-the chef was on a training course and the barmen would let us know when he was back. My husband is a diabetic so it was important he needed to eat. We ordered steak baguette which had about 3 small pieces of chewy steak and a plateful of chips. It was terrible. The baguette was a long life one which should have been oven baked it clearly wasn't it had been put on a griddle. As the bar was full i did not want to make a scene as my husband wasn't feeling well. I complained about the room and was told they were upgrading a bit at a time as it was under new management. I was shown another room however It had a wieird odour so i said I'll just stay where we are. I would suggest anyone coming to this hotel to think again drive a few more miles out of your way. For what they are charging it is a complete Rip off. We are booked in for breakfast but doubt we will go in I think McDonald's is more appealing.

We were given a voucher for Virgin Experience Days for our wedding last year and redeemed it against a two night stay in this hotel, and frankly we really wish we hadn't. Upon searching for the offers we could redeem the voucher against we found this hotel's website, where it states 'Enjoy the tranquility of this idyllic hotel set in the beautiful countryside of Lincolnshire'. Perfect, we thought. We love the countryside and somewhere tranquil sounded wonderful for our romantic weekend away. We also thought we'd tie it in with my Birthday so that it was a double celebration. Sadly, this is a completely inaccurate description of this hotel. It is far from tranquil, it is SO noisy, we heard just about every noise from the surrounding rooms all through the night, and the corridor was constantly in use meaning we got no sleep at all. It was also unbearably hot, despite us turning the radiator off and having the window wide open. Plus the mattress was rock hard and so uncomfortable. The website also describes 'Our charming rustic hotel', which, again, is completely inaccurate. The decor was tired, the room was dated, the hotel in general was characterless and unwelcoming, not the rustic country retreat we had expected. Our room had a multitude of issues that I shall list: - the TV kept going black every 30 seconds so we couldn't view the picture, but the sound remained. - room was dirty, limescale all around the taps and on the shower head. - no plug supplied for the bath so we couldn't fill it, making it completely pointless having it. - our bed was a large double, but the duvet supplied was for a small double, however in a large double duvet cover, so it did no't fit the bed but was made to look as though it did. - the shower door was broken and actually quite dangerous as it came off as I tried to get in the shower. The doors could only be opened a small way without coming off the rollers so I had to squeeze in through a tiny gap. The temperature also went between boiling hot and freezing cold so was not enjoyable at all. We went down for breakfast at 9:30 on the Saturday morning of our 2 night stay. Ideally we'd have been up earlier but we were so tired from lack of sleep. When we arrived at the restaurant, bearing in mind breakfast ends at 10am, there was hardly anything at all left to eat. There was some very pale and sad looking bacon, a very small amount of baked beans and some old looking fried eggs which were extremely rubbery. Some hash browns were then brought out, but there were no sausages or mushrooms or any other type of egg. This was a real disappointment, but having consumed what was left I'm glad I didn't eat anything else anyway. The dining room was also a mess, didn't seem clean, tables were sticky, mugs dirty, service not particularly great. We were due to have afternoon tea on this day too, but we decided we didn't want to eat this, given the quality of the food already experienced and the state of the restaurant. This hotel also describes itself as being 'dog-friendly' but having stayed elsewhere at dog-friendly hotels, this really was not that. There was nowhere really to walk the dog for him to go to the toilet, except the car park. It was advertised as having a garden but there was no garden to speak of, just a tarmacced car park full of litter, broken glass to avoid cutting his paws on and a skip full of discarded mattresses (which is where the one from our room should have been put). I would not recommend bringing your dog to this hotel, and if you are after a countryside escape this is probably not the hotel for you either. We then decided to cut our losses and check out a day early. We weren't enjoying ourselves and that was unlikely to change with another awful night's sleep, terrible food and an unwelcoming atmosphere. A huge disappointment all round. We couldn't have been happier to leave. A real waste of our wedding gift voucher, lesson learned.

Lovely stay. Staff very nice. Breakfast was great. Did a murder mystery night which was fun but wouldn't rate the food, chicken and beef was quite tough. Rooms and hotel very clean. Rooms very spacious warm and lots of storage in rooms along with tea and coffee, ironing hairdryer facilities were great. Lovely clean spa.

clean cheap hotel staff struggled to cope with number of guests. One late night disco kept me awake, a wedding was taking place but was not an issue. massive room and huge bathroom . Access during snowy weather would be an issue

Brilliant stay! Spent three nights and couldn't fault the place, loved using the pool with the kids and all the staff were really friendly and massive dog lovers so our pooch got spoilt rotten, totally recommend!

We took advantage of a Travelzoo deal to celebrate my birthday here. BIG MISTAKE! This hotel needs a small fortune spent on it, just to bring it up to anywhere near the three stars it professes to have. The whole of the hotel has a drab, unwelcome feel to it. The dining room is not somewhere that you would want to sit and enjoy a meal as it's very dated and lacks even an ounce of atmosphere. Whilst waiting at the spa area to have a pre-booked massage, you sit on a leather sofa, surrounded by mattresses that are waiting to go to the tip, a dumped workmate bench, pots of emulsion paint and rubbish on the floor. Thankfully we were out of the hotel every day, to visit local places of interest. But then the thought of returning to the hotel at the end of each day, really depressed us.

Free parking and good food seriously let down by complacency by the majority of staff. It was obvious that many of the staff did not want to be at work and it showed in the lack of respect to guests and the lack of adequate cleaning of the tables in the restaurant. Strong smell of damp in the bedroom and mould in and around the shower. It sufficed for one night but we will not be going back.

No taxis ( they all do school trips apparently ) so if you have a business meeting to get to or speaking at a conference no one will help you get to your destination and no one will care that you are caused difficulty. It is so hard to get a cab leave a great big sign on reception and people who bring their cars sit in them in car park reviving engines at your window whilst you try to sleep. It was like being in the 1970s Jamie in the bar was however lovely.

Trequean barn is one of the best places I have booked in Cornwall. Very clean two berth accommodation with everything you will possibly need. Tom was very helpful, if you needed anything it was sorted at wance. The sea view is stunning, and so quiet. Porthleven is just down the road with cafe's, shops, market, pubs and restaurants. Fantastic rain shower, great log burner, nice and warm, comfy bed, bbq too. We had great weather over two weeks but the barn made it special. Thanks Tom.

I don't usually bother with this sort of thing but was so appalled at how a member of staff was spoken to by management I front of me! It was so unprofessional and I felt very sorry for the member of staff who became upset . Staff were brilliant and worked really hard to make it a great day I did not stay so cannot comment on anything else, it didn't spoil my day but it's not nice to witness!

Fantastic service, polite staff, easy check in and out, clean and comfy room, very good bar meals, good choice for breakfast the egg bacon on fried bread. Yum! Very good wedding venue, lovely food. Thank you.

We went as a group of 8 ladies One of our group had issues with odour in one of the rooms & checking out our luggage into the lift was a nightmare as only one trolley available which was being used for a wedding.we had a lot of heavy equipment to move. All the other rooms were warm , clean & comfortable. The food was excellent. The staff were very helpful & the only real issue was the ones already stated.

The blurb from the hotel itself on Trip Advisor states it is a ‘Stylist Retreat' . . . . what a totally false claim. The definition of ‘retreat' is “a quiet or secluded place in which one can rest and relax” The breakfasts were delicious with plenty to choose from and the staff were helpful and friendly. The pool is good, but could do with opening earlier and staying open later; on weekends the opening times are further reduced. That's were the positive stuff ends . . . . This hotel is tired and the rooms leave a lot to be desired; they are clean, but dated shabby and in need of redecoration. The two nights we stayed there was functions on. I absolutely love a party myself, but the music and noise of the functions went on longer than was reasonable and the guests were inconsiderately noisy returning to their rooms along the corridors and outside, even gone 2am one night. I feel the staff should have done something about this, as that kind of behaviour is simply unreasonable and inconsiderate towards their other guests. The rooms are basic, a bit too basic. There needs to be something done about the corridors so that people simply walking along the flooring cannot be heard in the rooms. The lift mechanism makes a noise that can be heard in rooms not necessarily close by and, as a dog owner myself, it was disappointing that dogs are allowed as dogs sometimes naturally bark and this was an issue too. Some rooms are far too close to the party room & bar; the rooms are not soundproofed at all. My parents asked to move rooms the first night, but sadly this could not be accommodated. I would not stay again. Most people have a weekend away to relax, refresh and recharge themselves. Given the noise of the hotel at night this none of this was possible. Service generally very good except for when the barmaid couldn't use the till. And her manager allowed a large queue to build up. Room was spotless. Breakfast was fine. No complaints. Dinner was adequate for mass catering. Nothing special. But edible. Price was just reasonable. 225 for Two nights B&B. Is that pricey these days ? Three star. Decent pool and sauna. All a bit corporate and faceless , full of masons , navy ex service .. it was ok. I'd stay there again but it's got no character or anything unusual about it. Vanilla. In the middle of nowhere , if you want to eat anywhere else you've got a fair drive. Room was nice , clean , warm , everything worked. I had to ask for extra soap and milk the second day. I've stayed in cheaper and more interesting places. But it's ok if you like holiday inns etc.

We stayed as large party of 50 odd people for a Naval reunion. Its friendly hotel, where the staff are very helpful. Buffet breakfast very good choice, and served 7-10. Dinner had quite a varied choice, but i don't like vegetables, so it did looked like I had left a lot of my plate. But I was a most enjoyable weekend. I used the gym and pool which was a bonus. Our room (503) which was large, comfy bed, with table and 2 chairs, but TV was only visible when sitting on the bed. It's just behind the door. Not too much of a problem, we were too busy to watch much TV.

Just off the A1, fairly easy to find. plenty of Parking, restricted menu in Evenings , rooms needed updating, work was in process. friendly staff and pool very nice, no massager available on days stayed.

Had a brilliant night with 3 course meal, room was very clean with tea and coffee facilities. Had comfortable nights sleep followed by buffet breakfast staff was very friendly and accommodating and the murder mystery evening was fun

We chose this hotel being halfway between our home and holiday destination further north, but nobody warns you that you have to cross the very busy A1!! Check in was very quick and easy. Our room was reasonably clean and tidy although desperately in need of some TLC. The furniture had definitely seen better days, there was mould on the shower screen door and the shower curtain was hanging on for dear life. because the way the room was laid out there was only room for 1 bedside cabinet! The remote control for the TV had gone AWOL and despite help from reception they could not find a spare to work with our TV nor could we work out how to use the TV manually. She told us that was control no7 that had gone in a week. Meal in the bar was good altho choices were rapidly running out as they had a large coach party in. What there was for breakfast was good although there is no choice apart from fried food or ceareal etc. No scrambled, boiled or poached egg etc!! Not what we expect from Best Western. Check out quick and painless We would stay again but just for an overnight stop.

Al staff were friendly and gave superb customer service. A special mention of Mitchell who worked in the bar and restaurant. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. Check in was very efficient. Look forward to another visit soon

Hotel is very quiet regardless of being close to the A1 The staff were without exception very good and extremely helpful, only criticism was room 505 had a permanent humming noise which at night was a problem in disturbed sleep. Staff in formed but no fault found possibly because no one checked at night when noise was very apparent

From the from minute the team could not have been any more helpful always smiling and ready to help. The food and the accommodation we spot on. We had a dinner for about 40 and the quality was great and they kept the food topped up to ensure no one missed out. We also had the best bar staff looking after us all in the late evening without complaint.

Outstanding levels of service and cleanliness I would not hesitate to use this hotel again the staff were all very helpful and obviously very happy in their place of work, nothing was too much trouble and all done with a smile, well done

Jane, the catering manager did us proud. Food was excellent and plentiful. Staff were friendly and helpful Great venue for our re- union event which was enjoyed by all. Facilities available for our guest speaker to deliver a presentation at no additional cost. We would return.

A group of 60 of us had a function at this hotel. The staff were amazing to say the least, accommodating , genuine and most pleasant. The facilities whilst showing signs of wear and tear were acceptable and as we had a hot buffet, the food was plentiful, tasty and well served. Thank you to the chefs. The function and facilities surpassed our requirements and expectations at the price point accordingly, we have booked again for next year. Whilst the bar is pricey, it is no more expensive than other hotels and the surroundings are nice. Well done to Emma (Duty Manager) Nighttime, Jamie (Duty Manager day) Dawn, Hannah and the crew for making this event special.

Cottage has everything you can think of there. My husband and I went for a week from 2nd Sept. Had a lovely week away (despite the weather). First time at this cottage and will definitely be going back there. Would recommend it to family and friends. Handy for all attractions. Easy reach. Mousehole is very pretty village. Plenty places to eat. Owner left some scones jam and cream which was a nice gesture. Gate at front were you go to drive in is a bit heavy and need effort to open it. ( needs looking into).

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Restaurant and bar food was very nice and reasonably priced. Our room was a little tired looking but clean and spacious. Only downside to our stay was the beds. Woke up every morning in pain as mattress was so thin we wondered if there was one on the bed. Pool was great.

Our 5th stay since 2016. We always book the same weekend as we travel to the area to attend the horse trials. I absolutely cannot fault the hotel, the food, drinks, bar, restaurant and certainly not the absolutely wonderful staff who keep us returning year after year. We are always made so welcome, and every single staff member always has time for a chat and some humour. Thank you for yet again, exceeding our expectations and we can't wait to return next year.

This was our second visit to The Olde Barn Hotel following a lovely stay in March, & we were not disappointed. From my original enquiry & throughout our stay, the hotel staff were very attentive & accommodating. We booked a 2 night bed & breakfast stay with dinner on the first night. The 3 course meal did not disappoint at all, enough of a choice & everything very tasty. As I am a very fussy eater, I had a lot of questions about the menu. Nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant staff & if they couldn't answer a question, they consulted the chef. The menu is changed daily, & as we enjoyed our meal so much, we decided to eat in the restaurant on our second night. That was probably our biggest decision as we were spoilt for choice with the option of eating in the bar, choosing from the extensive bar menu. Breakfasts are also tasty & plentiful. There is so much choice that I'd be surprised if anyone went away from the table hungry. Self-service means you can have whatever you want & as much as you want, a great way to start the day. We requested a room similar to the one we had for our last stay & were allocated one 2 doors away, almost identical to the one we stayed in previously. The room was large & very clean, with a good supply of tea & coffee & plenty of toiletries. We saw a lot of changes & improvements since we visited in March. This hotel also includes leisure facilities & a gym. It is such good value for money that I honestly cannot understand where any bad reviews come from. We are now looking forward to our next stay.

Had a 2 night stay when we were visiting the races at Southwell. Very quiet hotel nothing around for quite a way very relaxed break in lovely surroundings. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area had a meal in the bar in the evening which was lovely.

31 of us u3a members stayed for 5 days on our first holiday away together. We had a wonderful holiday getting to know each other better. The hotel was perfect as was the swimming pool jacuzzi etc. The food was to a good standard and varied throughout the week. The rooms were also of a good standard. The staff helped to make it a success. They were cheerful and friendly. I would recommend it too anyone arranging group travel to this part of the world.

We booked a night away here using a voucher code given as a gift. We got married in March and as we have young kids this was a mini honeymoon! Our room had a 4 poster bed, it was OK but the mattress is far too small for the frame and a quilt had been used to bulk it out. I'd had an operation 2 weeks prior so it was quite uncomfortable for me. The bathroom was nice with a bath and stand alone shower which was nice and powerful. It was a really really hot night so I did ask reception for a fan and 10 minutes later it arrived. Hubby kept telling me not to ask because they won't have any but thankfully they did! We had a 3 course meal included, we looked at the menu but it was quite old fashioned and unfortunately I didn't like any mains or puddings. We asked if it was possible to eat in the bar with their menu as its much more current. We had an allocation of so much towards the meals so had a starter and main. They were so tasty! Once the restaurants menu has been updated it will be much better. We used the pool twice while there. The new little area outside was nice to sit and read in the sun. Breakfast was lovely. You can order a variety of eggs to be made fresh for you, the rest is self service. Overall, for the price we paid it was a nice night away. I just wish the mattress had been better as that's one of the most important elements. This was our 2nd visit, we came in June 2019 and had similar experience except the restaurant menu was slightly better.

Hotel was in a good location with good access. The hotel and rooms was clean. Reception staff were pleasant. Food needs improvement. Breakfasts were buffet style , the cooked option only offered poor fried eggs no scrambled of poached available. With respect to evening restaurant meals, the menu was limited with only three options each of starters, mains and sweets listed. Presentation and quality was poor.

Fantastic hotel with great facilities. The staff could not do enough for us while we stayed there for our 2 night weekend break. We dined in the restaurant and the meal was lovely and the library for drinks after a great relaxing setting. We used the leisure spa in the morning and the pool is huge and facilities great although we passed on using the gym :-) We would highly recommend the hotel.

Myself and my partner were gifted a 2 night stay with breakfast and 3 course meal included. We arrived and checked in and the young girl on reception was very helpful and welcoming however she was the only one. We felt very unwelcome by other members of staff. Our room was clean and tidy so cannot fault the room at all. We had dinner booked for 7pm which was inedible and cold. We ordered drinks before our food which never arrived. All three courses were not up to scratch and myself being pregnant actually felt like I couldn't eat the meat. The restaurant had a very strange uncomfortable feel to it, in the end we decided to just leave. Decided to try the pool however was freezing cold and didn't seem very clean at all. After all of this we decided to check out. We were both very upset as this was a gift to us after a very hard year and we feel so let down. When explaining the situation to a member of staff at the front desk she was very rude suggesting we should of complained at the time of our meal in which our response to was we felt very uneasy and didn't want to cause a scene in front of a restaurant full of people hence why we were complaining at the front desk. We decided to check out the same evening not even staying one night let alone the two. Very disappointing.

Good stay all round ser ice staff food cleanliness all really good as they always are,enjoy the swimming steam room sauna and jacuzzi friendly bar with good bar food and plenty of choice of drinks and food .we have been using the oldebarn for about twelve years and will continue to do so .Big thank you to all the staff a d see you again soon.

My friend and I have just returned from a two day break at this hotel which was the second time we have stayed here. Overall we had a very pleasant stay. The breakfasts were well cooked and there was plenty of choice. The evening meals were okay but do not expect fine dining. Our twin bed room was clean with comfortable beds and of a good size. The bathroom was suitable for someone with poor mobility. The best asset to our stay was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, particulary Beverley, Jaime and Cydney who worked in the dining room. However there are a few improvements to be made for future guests. The outside areas need sprucing up and daily litter picking/ sweeping is required. Housekeeping staff need to fully check that extractor fans and lights are fully working before guests arrive and all ground floor bedrooms have net curtains. I hope my comments have been useful to future guests and employees alike.

Lovely place to stay for a few days or more. Everything is clean and tidy. The breakfast and evening meal are suburb with plenty of choices, especially in the main restaurant. The staff are excellent, very helpful and happy . An excellent venue all round.

Stopped over for the Michael Buble tribute weekend which was very entertaining . 3 course meal was very good. The spa pool was a good size. Booked a full body massage with Kate, which I highly recommend

We were at this hotel for a family wedding. A lovely venue for a wedding, everything ran smoothly and the whole party were well looked after. Everything was clean and tidy, the room was lovely. The only reason the overall rating is 4/5 is the fact that the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever been on, I ended up sleeping on the duvet on the floor.

My daughter got married here 13th August , we arrived on the Friday and checked in very quickly. Lovely swim then dinner in the restaurant , very limited choice and would have enjoyed the bar menu more. The day of the wedding was brilliant , very attentive staff who looked after all 70day guests . All ran smoothly , everything was set up and adjustments made on request. The food could have been a little better but overall was served quickly. Thank you to all the staff. Some guests said their rooms were a little dated and a little dirty and done beds hard and some sort , so a real mixture and you can never please everyone. Some lovely personal touches like all 69 guests getting to eat breakfast together in the Newton Suite and drinks for the bride to steady her nerves. Our check out time was extended so we could finish of the stay in the pool with our grandson . Thank you all

Stayed for a Freddie Mercury tribute night on Friday. What can I say except excellent, we had a fantastic night with our friends. The act was superb, the meal lovely and the staff couldn't be more helpful, especially Jane who really got the party started, great night. The bedroom was cool, considering it was such a hot night and lovely and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was good nd set us up for the day, although we were all pleased we went to breakfast at 8.30am as it was very busy later at 9.30am.

Reasonable accommodation with most of the usual amenities but only a fan rather than air conditioning which would have been handy on one of the hottest August days. Breakfast a bit like eating in a canteen with limited choice but reasonable quality.

The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed, the bathroom was immaculate, it seemed very new and modern. The spa and gym was a little dated but was clean and tidy, gutted the jacuzzi was broke. Staff at the hotel are friendly and attentive. We had the 3 course dinner in the restaurant, the food was okay but the menu could do with an update and a few more options available as it was quite limited. The hotel is a lovely place to stay in an ideal location

Came and spent a couple of days for our wedding anniversary from arrival the staff were polite and welcoming. Especially the American gentleman on the bar. The room we stopped in was clean and fresh. We went to the Gravity Bar for a snack late afternoon and the food was lovely for a light snack. We we're joined later by friends and we again had a meal in the bar. The steak was cooked to perfection and the other meals we had tasted amazing. (Chicken burger, Potato Curry and Beef burger). Had a amazing night's sleep and the stay was complete with the buffet style breakfast.

Expected a really good stay but felt disappointed by the corporate feel of the place. It is far to big to bother with couples or families.it has no community feel about it, the staff are very friendly however they don't have time to talk or make any conversation with customers. At a weekend I would expect a bit of light entertainment a singer perhaps but nothing, quite flat on the experience front. Very clean rooms and reasonable food.

This hotel was comfortable and clean. Areas of it has been updated and the room itself although basic had everything needed for an overnight stay. The pool was warm and the food very good. Would recommend the special offer of breakfast and dinner which is good value. Whilst the restaurant could do with more atmosphere and special touches the set menu offered good choice and tasted delicious. This is a good value break.

The only saving grace for this hotel is the staff they are fabulous, Arriving at the hotel from the outside it looks lovely, but in reality the rooms do not match what is shown on the webpage, not sure what room we got but I would have said very basic. I know people are saying this hotel is recovering from the Covid pandemic but in real terms it is tired run down , needs a deep clean and refurbishment. Our room was not in a good way the bed had a thin mattress, that when you sat on the bed you could feel the wooden frame surround of the bed, god forbid you turned over in the night it could have been painful. When you open the window you are above an exit where people stand and smoke not pleasant for a non smoker to have stinking cigarette smoke wafting in the room late into the evening, if you shut the window it then turns into a sauna as there is no other ventilation. The night we stayed there must have been a function on as in the early hours we had people leaving shouting and laughing and generally noisy. The bathroom was is a sorry state huge crack in the floor tiles that runs across the room, the shower surround has seen better days and surely you could find a plug to put in the sink rather than a old rubber one that doesn't fit. The filler round the wall lights looks like it was done by a child it is that poor. and as for the screw sticking out the wardrobe door, it could cause a nasty cut. As I said the only saving grace was the staff they were helpful, upbeat and kind. and apparently the spa was closed so didn't get to use that facility

I stayed in the hotel 9/7/22 with my daughter. We enjoyed the beautiful swimming pool ( we had it to ourselves!). The Hotel is surrounded by countryside and the room has comfortable beds, excellent toilet/shower facilities, tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, etc. Staff wecloming. The most impressive part of the stay was how the Manager helped and accommated a small issue I had, he was excellent, listened, supported and resolved my issue. This has left me entirely satisfied, feeling like I will definitely stay again.

Friday to Sunday weekend break. Jamie duty manager and Jenna behind the bar in Gravity all went out of their way to make us welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Hotel was clean and comfy with a great atmosphere. This is a 3 star hotel recovering from the problems covid caused so be patient. Food was value for money in the Bar /Restaurant and drinks were reasonable priced . The hotel is recovering being taken over and from covid. If you want top notch BOOK A 5 STAR. Cannot fault this hotel overall excellent and the staff need recognition for all their effort in welcoming customers and going the extra mile. A BIG PAT ON THE BACK FOR ALL STAFF / Quick tip if using restaurant at night you need to book it / Breakfast is self serve from 7Am and value for money

Came for murder mystery and enjoyed it food could of been hotter but considering the room was busy Jane did a really good job looking after us Marked it down to 4/5 as main problem was when I booked this in April I asked for wheelchair accessible room as my partner is wheelchair dependant room we got given wasn't wheelchair accessible so back to reception explained the problem and they offered us another room which wasn't wheelchair friendly in the bathroom Third room bathroom better but still not good for person in a wheelchair but plenty of space Only got better stars as the duty manager apologised n ladies on reception sorted the room Would come back here if given room that we require is available but credit where credit is due to the ladies on reception sat afternoon 23/7 and to Jane and to the lady duty manager

I paid for an executive four poster room for my wife's birthday through Hotels.com When I checked in the room had a small double and was very poor. I was told by reception they did not have four poster beds now and hotels.com should not have sold it. But the hotel is still advertising the executive four poster rooms on their own website. I don't think this should be allowed as when you get there it is too late and they are not interested

The room was good. Dinner was horrible, simple food, looking old and it was tasteless. The hotel really should improve this. Staff was not friendly during dinner as well. SPA facilities way worse than expected.

Very good evening, the murder mystery was good fun, we had great table service from Jane who was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and the meals were very good. Liz made sure a large party of us could sit together for breakfast

Murder mystery, 3 course dinner, overnight stay, all you can eat breakfast and use of the pool. The only reason I've not marked it as 5 star is down to the jacuzzi being out of order! Jane was great at dinner and really looked after us. I'd highly recommend The Olde Barn. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the bathrooms are very luxurious. We stay here often and will continue to do so.

Room size. Excellent. Air con. Excellent. Bar - food good. Reasonably priced. But only 5 crackers with a cheese board? Come on! Pool ok but dated and sharp plastic found by the poolside. Men's changing rooms stunk and I had to hold my breath. Spa needs a total refurbishment. Restaurant. Service was absolutely rubbish. Waited 15 minutes to see a menu. Had to ask for someone to take our drinks order. We ended up filling up on bread whilst we waited for our food. Kids portions were as big as adults and a third of the price. Whole restaurant is so dated that it doesn't feel part of a modern day hotel. Check in - told them we required all 4 rooms booked to be near one another- not possible. No explanation given. Another guest was very unhappy as no adapter available to charge his razor and toothbrush as it he was staying in an older room. Check out - asked to see the bill. Told it would be emailed. Still not received. I would stay again but management should really look into the service and to spend some money on the restaurant and pool ASAP.

We stayed here Monday to Friday and had a great time - this is our second stay in this cottage. Its a perfect base for visiting Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington etc. Great owner that offers help / advice if needed. We will be visiting again in the near future.

Recently attended a Murder Mystery and had a great time. The hotel staff were great and accommodating as we changed numbers a few times before the event. The actual murder mystery took place during dinner which was delicious and Jane/other staff members were very efficient and friendly. The players were entertaining, friendly and funny both during the event and after it had finished. The bar was welcoming post murder with a great selection of gins. Breakfast was lovely and we all had a great time. The whole event was extremely good value for money and a really fantastic introduction for first time murder mystery newbies.

The event was fantastic the cast were brilliant. Also Jane who was one of the hotel staff was amazing she was helpful, polite and very informative. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. I would recommend this place for one of these murder mystery events they are fantastic. Rooms were very nice. bathroom was fantastic with both a shower and a bath.

I stayed with my 9 year old daughter in room 506 on Saturday 9th June. We are next to what appears to be a lift, which was in use ( as you would expect) regularly. The sound of the lift was a grinding drill like sound, which resonated directly into our room. This room should not be advertised as somewhere to sleep!! I got no sleep, and yet I am a very very good sleeper. I told the reception the following day, maintaining that I know it is not their fault directly, and that I don't like to complain but felt I had to, I was assured a manager would email me. It is no 4 days later. No email. I feel totally ignored. I paid full for this room, and it was appalling. Also do not expect wifi, - there is none. And the sauna and steam room were out of order.

Came on a travelzoo deal, the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Liz in the dining room, the food was good especially the breakfast, the pool area good although the Jacuzzi and steam room were out of order, the room was a little dated and in need of refurbishment especially the carpet which was threadbare, all in all good and worth a visit

Nice big room, service was excellent. The food is amazing, we had food from the pub area the first night and 3 course meal in the restaurant the day after soooo good! We went for my husbands 50th and even though the staff didn't know they still treated us as VIPs couldn't ask for more

We booked on a Groupon deal bed/breakfast evening meal superior room to include a Murder Mystery night we had a large room with a 4 poster bed and jacuzzi bath which was all very clean even an iron and ironing board The hotel is undertaking repairs and refurbishment This was pointed out to us Free parking and a front garden to sit and relax with a beer We did not use the swimming pool but it looked very nice

The hotel is ideal if using as a stop over. Food option in restaurant is limited. We were missing 2 bath towels in our room and after asking at reception at 17:30 we picked the final one up at 21:20 being told by the duty manager that she had beds to make tv's to fix restaurant to deal with and an issue in the bar. No apology that housekeeping had failed. Very poor customer relations and noticeably under staffed. The hotel is looking a little tired. Our washbasin tap was loose and a hole in the wall near bed ( room 709) Ok for a one night at a reasonable cost but that is about it.

Absolutely disgusted. Viewing the ‘boss' shout at a young waitress. Vile management and they should not be allowed to run a business with that amount of disrespect! The only thing I would recommend to customers is to keep away from this horror show!

Great night away- hotel staff were great especially the restaurant staff. Had the three course special which was fabulous and really good value. Made use of the pool,sauna and jacuzzi. Great nights sleep and a large and luxurious bathroom. Plenty of parking even when a couple of coaches pulled up. Will definitely be staying here again…thank you guys :-)

We stayed for two nights in late June and had a lovely time. Really good value for money, especially considering breakfast is included, and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Phil behind the bar is particularly friendly and accommodating. We chose to eat at the bar both nights, rather than the restaurant, as the menu was more to our taste - we thought the food was good quality and again, offered good value for money. We will almost certainly visit again, and would recommend others do the same!

We have visited this hotel before when it was under different management… It's a great improvement- staff were all very friendly and helpful. Also plenty of staff too. Room was immaculate and comfortable. We had a four poster bed which was a nice surprise. The food was really lovely . Good quality , hot and tasty Pool area clean and good water temperature plus they have a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. We came on a package event ‘Murder Mystery' which was great fun. We will definitely come back again Thanks everyone and especially Julie

Wonderful staff, the staff really make this hotel, so attentive and welcoming! Food OK, the bar very relaxed the rooms very nice just need 2 chairs at the table in the room, beds very nice, but this place is all about the staff, so friendly!!

We Stayed at the hotel for 3 days this week with friends. Must say the staff were excellent , very helpful and friendly. The evening meals and breakfast were also very enjoyable. Our whole experience was very good.. many thanks to all the staff including Beverley, Jamie and Elsa for making our stay so great. Our room on the whole was good but the bed could do with a new matress as was very soft.

Several 3 day visits pre and since covid, always get the same excellent rooms at reasonable rates.Swimming pool is great, food very good and restaurant service quick and polite.We will definitely continue to visit the Barn for our short breaks.

Going ok till brekkie which was chaotic to say the least surely a better system can be devised especially if hotel full. Checking in at 3 was no better people arrived at 2.30 only to be told “check in is 3 o clock” so at 3 it was a shambles

We spent 2 days at this hotel it was booked through virgin exprenice days when we arrived we were surprised at how big it was,it is rather remote so you will need a car to get about . The hotel itself is rather run down ,and I feel it needs alot of attention and needs to be modernised . We had a superior double room , well I wouldn't like to think what the standard rooms are like , the paint twas coming off on the window sill , the shower door kept coming off the runners when you shut it , was not good ,very basic . We had breakfast on both days , it had the usual continental also a cooked breakfast selection which was buffet style and you helped yourself it wasn't very hot overall I didn't rate the breakfast I didn't feel it was good quality , but that's just my opinion . The bar was OK apart from the price of drinks which again in opinion was an absolute rip off . £6 for a pint of beer I have stayed in 5 star hotels in London and have paid less , and when London you expect to pay that , but not in 3 star hotel in Lincolnshire !! The staff were friendly and pleasant which was nice . The only thing was when we checked out the receptionist didn't ask if we enjoyed our stay and if everything was OK, if she had I would of mentioned the few issues I had ,as we were there only 2 days I just put up with it . But to be honest I wouldn't stay again . And I wouldn't recommend it .

I went to a murder mystery night at this hotel, my first time. It was fun and a great ice break, amongst the guests. The actors were great! I would go to another MM again. Recommended too. I have already booked to go to another event.

Spa facilities were excellent, dissapointed the steam room was out of order 2 of 3 times we used the facilities, staff were lovely, room clean and well presented, shower tray had black mould which let down an otherwise superb bathroom, window opened onto a tiny area with a corridor window as a view

We arrived on Friday and we're warmly welcomed by be receptionist. Room was absolutely fantastic and exceeded all my expectations. My kids enjoyed the swim area and so did we. We were staying for the weekend for my sisters wedding, and the place couldn't have been more perfect. Will definitely recommend and will be back!

Lovely Staff. Great Pool, Meals were good. Great value for Money. The only downside was a noisy room. But the hotel was full. Room was on a on a central access route. I'm sure if you ask if you ask they will give you a quiet room.

This is a very busy hotel with a number of wedding venues within it. The hotel is much extended and a bit rambling. Because there was a wedding on the bar was very busy and noisy. We also had a power cut, internet outage, fire alarm and a TV which switched itself on at 3.12am. On the positive side the restaurant food was good and extremely reasonable. The wine list not extensive but the wine we had was good quality and well chilled. The staff were also very friendly and tried hard to please in challenging circumstances.

There were 70 of us booked in for a reunion weekend. Nothing was too much trouble and all ran smoothly from the moment of initial booking through to checkout. We arrived here as customers and the staff made us feel like we left as friends

Spent weekend of 13/14 May 2022 for RAF Reunion. Can only say that hotel met all my expectations. Was in a twin room very bright and airy with all amenities you could wish for except for the obligatory tea/coffee facilities (but that's not a problem). Shower wonderful and water was nice and hot. Bar area was good with plenty of seating both in bar area and a short internal walk to a nice comfy seating area. Food was good but was a set 3 course menu all individually priced 1/2/3/ course depending on your choice. All staff very helpful and nice, HOWEVER a big shout out for 3 lovely ladies on the Saturday evening disco/buffet, in no particular order Lexi, Grace and Jane, they worked hard, were so polite and involved themselves with everyone., (loved the dance Jane) in my opinion a credit to the hotel. Overall a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to everyone. Looking forward to next years reunion.

We met some colleagues for a meeting today and was looked after by a lovely, friendly member of staff Jayne, she is a credit to the Olde Barn. It was very quiet and the bar was not open, but she went out her way to accommodate us.

Had an evening meal and B & B voucher as a present, firstly was charged an additional £20 as we wanted to go on a Friday, the beds had more lumps and bumps than prison porridge, the choice of evening meal was, to say the least, very limited and of worse quality for the starters and sweet course. Main was of a better quality but a small piece of salmon, 3 new potatoes, red cabbage and stringy green beans. Breakfast was slightly better but only one type of egg, which were fried with the whites undercooked. Overall it was a very disappointing experience at over £120. Finally be aware that there are no vending machines and the nearest shop / service station is about 2 to 3 miles away so take a couple of snacks in case you're still hungry after the evening meal.

Needed time away to relax and de-stress and the Olde Barn Hotel was just brilliant. The staff accommodated our needs and gave us advice especially with a migraine sufferer. The room was lovely and spacious. The spa facilities was great for us. They also do massages and other wellbeing activities such has nail pedicure I was gutted has we didnt know about it until we got there and it was complety booked so didnt get a chance to use this service. Otherwise had a great time.

Hotel was very clean, staff helpful and friendly. Room very good beds comfy. Dining room lovely and food very good and well presented. Pool area lovely jacuzzi very warm . Very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

This hotel offers great value for money, good clean accommodation excellent range of food choices including bar meals. It offers a health centre and a swimming pool this is the ideal wedding venue. Friendly staff throughout the hotel.

We visited the Olde Barn, on a buyagift experience and after reading the mixed reviews, we went with an open mind. We arrived earlier than planned, as we were unable to check in, we made our way to the bar, which was warm, and welcoming. The bar staff were friendly and pleasant. We checked in at 3pm and that is when the pleasantries stopped! We found the receptionist to be unfriendly, abrupt, surly and completely disinterested in her guests. Not even the hint of a smile. With our bags, we following the instructions given to us and we eventually found our room, which was pleasant with views overlooking fields and open countryside. The room was well situated, clean, airy, with a king size bed, with both a bath and separate shower. Tea & coffee making facilities were available and a large flat screen TV on the wall. The only problem was there was no remote to work the TV. After an extensive search, in drawers, wardrobe, under the bed, in the bed and in every orifice, it wasn't to be found. We duly reported the missing remote to reception, where the customer services experience continued in the same vain as our check in experience. We were advised that the remote must be there and there's nothing reception can do at this time. No apologies, no reassurances, no help whatsoever! Undeterred, we decided to use the pool and spa facilities and enjoyed a swim and steam. No issues there at all. Good sized pool, not too busy and adequate changing facilities. We had booked an evening meal in the dining room, which we were really looking forward to. Menu A, was the menu available (rotation of 4menus), which offered a small selection of 3 courses. We were met by Liz, who had the same training and customer service skills as our receptionist. We were unceremoniously plonked in the middle of the ‘dining room' which resembled an old barn, with dark beams, dark furniture and a dark carpet. The tables had no table cloths and were sticky to touch. Paper napkins adorned the table with a cold bread roll and the condiments. Fine dining it was not. Once seated Liz plonked the menus on the table and took our drinks order. Our drinks were served very quickly by another staff member who told us she was ‘knackered' and could not wait to end her shift. Within minutes another staff member, who didn't have a name badge on, came to take our order. She was pleasant and smiled and we later found out, after chatting to her, she was from Portugal. Our starters arrived instantly and we tucked in. As soon as we had finished the starter the pots were cleared, again with no finesse and the mains arrived. The food was OK but that was it. Salmon served with swede was a novelty but it was edible. We had both courses within 1/2 an hour and felt very rushed. The experience was not pleasurable. Watching the staff clearing up, clock watching, huffing & puffing was quite off-putting. There was clearly a ‘get em in, get em out' attitude and absolutely no finesse at all. Once the table was cleared and with no options of a tea or coffee, we just sat there waiting. Bet, who I think was in charge, as she was wearing a trouser suit, joined Liz setting tables up for breakfast, whilst checking her clip board, watching the clock and spraying tables. As we had clearly out stayed our welcome, we made our way to the bar, which was directly adjacent to the dining hall. As we were leaving Bet got a little animated telling us and the entire dining room that we were ‘only bed & breakfast' and had not paid. We very graciously pointed out that we had checked in with our room details and assumed it would be charged to our room, as no one had explained to us any different and nobody had presented the bill or indeed asked us if we were finished. We were told that was not the case and we're not allowed to leave until we paid, which of course we duly did, as doing a runner was definitely not on our agenda! We accept a ‘no frills' dining experience but it could have been a much more pleasurable experience if the staff had basic customer service experience, a smile and looked like they wanted to be there. It wasn't and they didn't. After a good nights sleep, we endured breakfast, which was similar to dinner, same sticky tables, same poor customer services, same dining experience, limited choice, cold coffee, served from a flask and very average food. It really is such a shame that the potential of this hotel is not maximised, it really could be a little gem, with a bit of investment, a bit of love, some clever marketing and the right people with the right attitude working there. Until then we would not be in a hurry to return and would not recommend it.

We had a deal but overall good value The room was very adequate and clean but no aspect. The bath towel heater did not work but all else was fine in the room. The free G and T was good and the main meal a little limited but the breakfast was first rate , once they found some more bowls and spoons. I had an extra glass of wine at table but trying to pay for this at checkout made me wonder why I bothered but I was being honest . Car parking was a little difficult and it is very easy to get lost inside and surprisingly close to the A1

Considering the price we paid for the room, the room was very basic. We had a lovely wedding and the staff were lovely but the room was very basic for the price we paid. Not enough pillows - blankets for 3/4 people and only 1 lamp and no bedside tables

Needed an hotel with a function room, swimming pool for the children and that took dogs for a reunion of a family of 19. The hotel itself is 3 star and will soon require a refurbishment. However the food was really good and our thanks go to the chef(s) The hotel staff were second to none! Our special thanks go to Didi, the deputy general manager, who was so helpful and a genuinely nice person. Nothing fazed her. Down side, the Wi-Fi is useless but we didn't go there to use the internet, and during the our visit there was an invasion of mosquitoes (nothing the hotel could do about that), and the water pressure was low at times (also nothing the hotel can rectify). There Was a wedding during our stay which effect sleep quality for some members of our party The staff definitely make this hotel.

Terrible food (with gone off guacamole). No iron/ironing board in room No hair dryer Bright blue light from thermostat Waited one hour for room service Overall just not worth the money whatsoever. Had to ask for an ironing board and iron, the receptionist gave me a key to another room in order to iron. Ordered room service on two evenings. First meal wasn't great but thought it was just my choice. Ordered again the second night and it took an hour to arrive and the meal was pretty terrible. The avocado guacamole with the nachos was also gone off. Breakfast was good but the tables are sticky. Cleaning of the room was brilliant, always had fresh towels so if you're just looking for a room to sleep in then go here.

We stayed here as a Virgin Experience package which included afternoon tea. Weirdly, it was served in the bar surrounded by people drinking beer and watching the horse racing, which wasn't really what I'd pictured. The food was fine, however. I was quite excited when we walked into the room to find a four poster bed until we realised that one of the posts blocked the view of the TV. Had hotel management tried staying in this format of room to check the guest experience, they would quickly have realised this. There was a sign in the bathroom explaining how to use the shower but with a caveat that these instructions don't apply to all the rooms! Surely you would put a sign appropriate to the room? These two things, although relatively small, demonstrate a lack of attention to detail. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and steam room. They had run out of towels though so asked us to go get towels from our room and told us we could ask housekeeping for fresh ones. I asked if we could just get towels from reception (much closer) but was told that was not possible. Breakfast was probably the best part of the stay. Plenty of choice and lovely fresh croissants. We didn't get chance to explore the village but I can recommend popping to the alpaca farm which is only a 10 minute drive away. Overall the stay was fine but there were just a few niggly things that could so easily have been fixed with a bit more thought. I'd have been disappointed had we paid full price.

Having read some of the mixed reviews we didn't quite know what to expect but all our concerns were unfounded. We had a very nicely furnished spacious room with a lovely modern bathroom with good quality towels as was the bed linen. They even replaced the light bulbs when requested to make the room brighter! Nothing was too much trouble for any of the pleasant staff. Both breakfast and the evening meals were fine.would love to return and will definitely recommend.

We stayed for two nights as part of a party of fifty plus guest on a car club outing The hotel offers a large car park Ideal for the parking of prized possession We were welcomed in reception by a friendly and helpful staff The room was clean and very comfortable Our small dog was made to feel at home being offered biscuits by the staff as the party enjoyed a reception in the lounge of coffee and excellent cake I particularly enjoyed the pool ( which I visited several times over the weekend) We ate as a party on both evenings in the banquet suite where the set menu offed an appetising selection on both evenings Food was served efficiently by the helpful and engaging team Breakfast was served on both morning with both hot and cold food being offered by the buffet table the staff were friendly and helpful as experienced throughout our stay To summarize I will use the hotel again when I am in the area and can absolutely recommend the hotel for a party booking offering terrific value not to mention service with a smile

Tv in our room didn't work and had no help from staff to fix this. Bed was old or overused as springs were flat and mattress uncomfortable. Noisy with other guests walking past or in next rooms, could hear every word said. Lack of toiletries, hole in wall and old fashioned furniture. Tables at breakfast were sticky, spiders in corner where we sat and breakfast room so overcrowded staff had to sit guests in bar area.

Stayed here for 1 night - never again - the food was ineable - dinner was very small portions - vegitables were overcooked and inedible. meat was mostly fat. Breaftas was overcooked and inedible.. glasses were dirty Room was large, but tap was hanging off - plug was broken - shower tiles were peeling up and sharp underfoot. Cleaners stood outside our room early in the morning to have a lonmg and loud chat - even though we had a do not disturb notice on the door. When i complaineed to reception - i just got told they would pass the information on... would not recomend

Lovely place to stay,the food was fabulous and the staff are excellent,loved the spa really and enjoyed my stay.the hotel is very clean and decorated really nice,love old buildings with character would recommend staying here

We stayed at the Olde Barn for a couple of nights and found it to be very clean, comfortable with the food very good. The staff make this place. Nothing is too much trouble and, rather than single out any members of staff, our thanks go to each and every one of them. We'll certainly be back

Stayed 2 nights with a friend, as a base to visit surrounding areas. Lovely to have a bar area selling good bar meals, a great choice of food in the restaurant and also a lounge area to sit and read a book. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with tea/coffee facilities, hairdryers, trouser press, iron and board and a safe. Plenty of storage for clothes. Room cleaned daily (not all hotels are doing this yet) and we had a nice quiet room. Didn't use pool facilities so can't pass comment.

Lovely disabled room with bathroom containing a walk in shower and a bath which is rare. The bathroom also boasts a double sink unit and plenty of space. A toilet raise, however would have been a helpful addition. A tasty breakfast with a more than adequate selection. The leisure facilities are open from 7am until after 8pm and contain a large swimming pool with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. They are a wonderful addition to the great value and impressive room we had at this hotel.

Good stay , room clean with a surprise four poster bed and Jacuzzi in the in sweet which was a completely unexpected . Breakfast hot and well presented . Swimming pool very nice as was hot tub and all help given

Went for a mini break with husband's birthday. Purchased a wowcher deal for 2 people , 2 nights to include breakfast both mornings and 3 course meal. Inclusive use of spa facilities. Very good value for money We had a very enjoyable stay, rooms were spacious and clean although quite hot during the night. Meals were lovely, staff friendly and spa a treat. The only thing I would suggest is maybe a fan for rooms at night as it was hot. We will visit again.

I wholeheartedly have no problem in reccomending The Olde Barn for a stay. It's warm, well lit, spotlessly clean and full of professional staff who will be only too happy to help you during your stay.

Our granddaughter had qualified for showjumping in the final at the Arena UK Lincolnshire and we wanted to go and support her. We had to find accommodation that would be dog friendly for our lack Labrador. The Olde Barn Grantham fitted the bill. They had a great deal on dinner bed and breakfast and were less than 10 minutes away from the show ground. Hanna on reception gave us a warm welcome and our bedroom and bathroom were clean and very spacious. The restaurant staff were also friendly and attentive with Jamie the restaurant manager looking after us very well, as indeed we saw her doing the same for all the customers. If we are back in the area again we would have no reservations about staying at the Olde Barn again.

Excellent value for money short break with very good accommodation and food. Minor issue 're limited internet availability but this was stated beforehand. As a personal choice would have preferred a bath but the room, facilities, staff and overall experience all very good Would recommend

Needed a place to stay for an overnight horse show, an amazing, warm welcome and friendly staff, especially Jane who made sure darcy had her water and a treat!! Will definitely come back to stay again

Warm welcome. Room big, bathroom very modern & clean. Restaurant busy so ate in bar. Food was good, good choice. However only after we got into bed did we realize the 2 single divans pushed together had 3 mattress toppers on & the right side springs were gone making a low dip- a broken bed. We didn't sleep well. There was also a green light - poss exit light, that illuminated the room all night. Breakfast was good- couldn't fault it. Spoke to lady on reception upon check out about bed & she said we shldve flagged it the night before& poss been moved. I see the point- but we had unpacked & were exhausted.. i think its more not putting guests in a room where the bed is clearly knackered & you try to cover it with 3 mattress toppers! We would return but wld do full inspection before unpacking! Staff were friendly & location perfect for Arena UK

Excellent hotel set in a rural area. Bedroom and en-suite excellent Wifi, swimming area good. Breakfast was hot with plenty of choice. Evening meal was also served hot and excellent choice. Yes we would stay again and can recommend it, very good value for money.

This Travel Zoo offering was a much larger hotel than we expected and certainly catered for numbers as we found at breakfast time. The staff were kept on their toes trying to keep up with orders. Our two dining in dinners there were somewhat less frenzied affair and the three course meal at a fixed price was certainly excellent value for money. there were sufficient choices with each course to suit most people and a reasonable selection of wine. We found it strange to pay for our dinner drinks each night rather than put them on the bill at the end of our stay. We did have two rounds of gin and tonics included in our three night deal and it also included a two course dinner on the first night. The hotel rooms were reached along long corridors on three levels but the lift was out of action for some time so we had to carry luggage upstairs instead. The rooms were generous and well equipped with wi fi, hairdryer, iron and ironing board plus a trouser press. Nice to have a separate shower in the bathroom rather than having to rely on one over the bath. Front of staff extremely helpful and well prepared to receive guests.

First time to the Olde Barn, great location, bedrooms a little small, and some of the rooms, (overlooking the carpark) were very noisy. Bar area and food selection was good, breakfast Ok and overall good value..

We went here for a couple of nights to celebrate my mum's 86 birthday also with 3 sisters we had a great time. Food was lovely the staff caring. The Spa was very enjoyable we all loved every minute .It was a great break. Thank you

Only ate it the restaurant, family were staying. Phoned in the afternoon to book a table for 6.30 that evening. When we arrived there's was no table booking so they found us a table. Service was slow and had to ask to order. Food was on the table in 5 mins which leads me to think it was sitting under lights. Fish was tasteless apparently. I had vegetable tagine which comprised of 6 pieces of roasted veg and a serving of cous cous. This was the only vegetarian option. It was so spicy hot I could hardly eat it. The other with me dined on the smoked haddock with a dill sauce. On the plate some carrots and broccoli . Also ordered 3 teas and had to ask twice for the third tea as only 2 were brought to the table. We had no starters and no desserts. And it cost. £67.00.! So I cam home to eat as I was hungry. Only 2 dessert options which didn't suit me. I won't eat there again very didssappointed.

Great one night stay at Olde Barn Hotel Booking included 4 twin rooms,, 2 course dinner + gin , breakfast and late 12pm checkout Rooms were all next to each other , they were spacious and clean. Long dining table was prepared for us so we could all eat together Menu was limited but food was hot and tasty Staff were amazing, friendly and obliging Last minute spa treatments for 6 people were accommodated admirably.

Room was very good and as my husband is disabled they ensured we had a walk in shower. All the facilities are good and the staff were all very helpfull. Breakfast was OK - plates should have been warm, toaster needs updating but plenty of food was available. We had dinner in the dining room one night which was fine though limited and ate in the bar the following evening which was fine. Staff were all very helpful and friendly.

My wife has stayed here before and really enjoyed it. This was a mid week getaway 1 night. I arrived just after 3 booked in reception pleasant. Went to room, this was a basic room quite small and was all equipped for disabled visitors(I am not) as it was small standard double bed but only room for one bedside cabinet. The decor was quite drab and the bathroom just didn't smell fresh. We used the spa facilities then after decided to eat in the bar. From here things went down hill.waited half a hour and after complaining got my starter (soup). Then waited and waited again a good twenty minutes to half an hour. Asking the staff where was our main course (oh I'll go and check or would you like a refund) to which I replied I would like my meal as I'd travelled straight from work. We waited a bit longer then gave up. There was no manager and the supervisors response was poor. Excuses as to they were short staffed and would I like to go into the restaurant didn't help as I didnt want to sit for another HR. We were refunded for our meal the drove into Grantham to find something to eat. By this time it was gone 9pm. At no point did anyone say there would be a delay due to staff shortage, we could have planned earlier. As for for a relaxing mid week break total disaster

Enjoyed our stay here, our room was a bit dated and could do with some updating though. The majority of the staff were kind and attentive, evening meal was tasty and well served. The breakfast in the morning was nice, with a range of options. I noticed staff seemed a bit rushed and was working at their capacity. This definitely wasn't helped by an older lady barking orders at the other staff and being frankly rude and unprofessional, especially when in front of me and other guests. I think at one point one of the younger girls looked close to tears with the way she spoke to her. Absolutely disgusting. Just a shame when we really loved our stay, all it took was one member of staff to drag it down, made us feel like we were a burden on the waiting staff when they were already running round like crazy on her orders.

The hotel overall was comfortable and quiet. Some staff were more pleasant than others and went out of their way to help. Breakfast , particularly was very good with quality produce. Dining room experience not the best from an aesthetic point of view .

Had a lovely 2 day break. We have stayed here many times but not for the last 2 years because of Covid. We stayed in a superior room which was in excellent condition and very clean. We always use the swimming pool and hot tub. The restaurant meal was average but the burger meal in the bar on the second night was fantastic.Breakfast has improved since our last stay and really enjoyed it. We have always found the staff polite and helpful. Jane at breakfast was very helpful with a pleasant attitude made our stay all the better.

As others have said the hotel needs tidying and upgrade. The evening menu choice not good. Room very outdated leisure facilities were OK and breakfast OK but no option vege sausages. Evening meal very poor

Event good . Room clean and good . Good value for money on the deal . Unfortunately main course of meal provided poor as carrots had that horrible burnt smell and taste ( like when you steam veg and the bottom of the pan burns when water burns dry ) . Waitress acknowledged and did do her best to put right .

The hotel is just what you want for an overnight get away and relax. The health suite is fabulous with a pool, sauna ,steam room and jacuzzi. The room was very spacious. Extremely large bed which was comfortable enough, large tv, bathroom was lovely with rainfall shower. Tea and coffee making facilities with a couple of very tasty biscuits. We had a few snags with staff disorganisation, very small portion on the dinner side, but breakfast makes up for it. Wouldn't let the little niggles stop me from going again.

We stayed at the Olde Barn on a two night B@B Travelzoo deal which also included dinner on the first night. We really enjoyed our stay and found all the staff to be really friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent which set us up nicely for the day and we also enjoyed our evening meal. The complimentary Health Club facilities were also well equipped. Overall a lovely break thankfully matched by the weather! On the second night we took a short walk to eat at the Thorold pub in Marston which is well worth a visit.

I booked for a murder mystery event online then called, to upgrade to include a jacuzzi and paid the extra cost. We looked forward to the event for weeks and booked the day off work to get there early so that we could make use of the jacuzzi before the evening event. When we got there we found that there was no jacuzzi. We spoke to reception who told us that there were only 3 rooms with jacuzzi and that they had already been taken. We asked to speak to the manager and were told the manager was not available and that there was no point as they couldn't do anything. The room was fair but nothing special. An executive room with a 4 poster bed that blocked the television screen. The hot tap came off whilst I was in the bath and my body was scolded as I could not turn it off or get out of the bath without burning myself. When I told reception but they were uninterested and did not offer first aid for the burns. The murder mystery event was amazing, the evening meal was awful, breakfast was fair. I will never return and advise you to stay elsewhere.

Requested top fl large bed and bath got that but also got a buzzing noise continually from outside and the smallest tv you could buy. Furniture was very tired and stained even though it was supposed to be a superior room.

Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Room was spacious had extra touch's, biscuits, shower hat, shoe shine. Lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast, evening meal were lovely. Nice size pool, sauna, steam room.

Hotel, room and pool Good, staff friendly and helpful. For the price we paid on travel zoo deal did'nt expect haute cuisine but also did'nt expect a trip down memory lane to school dinner in the 60's. Needs to definately improve even if it means charging a little more.

When we arrived, just before 6 pm, we were met with a very curt Receptionist, who asked us to fill in the obligatory form and asked if we had booked dinner. We said we hadn't but the paperwork stated we could book a table as we booked into the hotel. She said, 'We don't have any tables tonight, as we have a bus party in, but you can have your dinner free tomorrow night'. We explained that our dinner was part of the package and we were only staying one night. She repeated, 'We don't have any tables in the restaurant tonight'. After staying that we had complied with their paperwork, she said, 'you can eat in the bar, to the same value'. We said we were not happy, so she went to speak to the restaurant staff, who allegedly said if we went in straight away, they would serve us. So that is what we accepted. When we went to the restaurant, it was completely empty, and only 3 other couples came in during the next hour After such an awful start, the service in the restaurant was first class. The staff were attentive, efficient and very friendly. Jamie and Lexi were wonderful. The meal was acceptable - not the best, but certainly not the worst I have ever had We went back to the room, which was barely warm. The radiator was badly in need of bleeding. I went to see the same curt Receptionist, who said she would send the Duty Manager. When she arrived, it was Jamie, who could not do enough for us, but stated that the maintenence people had gone home, but offered a small heater. The room was large, clean and comfortable, and the huge bathroom was lovely Breakfast was good, but by 8.45 am, they had run out of fresh fruit Guess who was serving in the restaurant? Yes, Jamie!! She should be appointed Customer Services Manager and Trainer, and she needs to start with the Receptionist. Jamie, you are amazing

So many things wrong with this hotel fitness center closed no heating in the rooms as they had run out of gas for 2days glad I was only there for one day I was there the second day so the cold had rely set into the hotel rooms the furniture was dated we had a superior room umm not rely. Carpets coming up on transfer from stairs to landing restaurant freezing cold when having night time meal food ok if you want a special day don't stay here in my opinion truck stop at best

Very disappointed as we booked the hotel for a birthday treat after 2 years of lock down . Only to find out that this was not available due to no gas we complained to the receptionist who said it was out of her hands and the hotel wasn't offering compensation for this. The first night we went to the restaurant and was served cold food. The helpful staff replaced but the food was still not hot, the explication for this was that they had to walk far and maybe the food was cooling down and that they could microwave it! For this we were offered a discount on the food. The second morning there was no hot breakfast offered. Our overall experience was extremely poor we appreciate that having no gas was out of the hotels hands but some form of compensation should of been offered as the main reason to go was a treat we could of easily gone to a cheaper hotel for the same service .

Hotel staff are very unprofessional in dealing with guesses, breakfast very poor no control of the help yourself to the hot buffet, waiting 10 minutes for sausage and beans. No details of have you switch the tv on because the remote hand set doesn't work, you have to use the remote switch on the back of the TV set.

Excellent service from the whole team. Very good food with a varied range both for breakfast and evening meal. Hotel very clean and pleasant. Location is a little remote but a nice community pub a short walk away in Marston village

Have used this hotel a few times. Some recent refurbishment has made a big difference. Was looking quite tired. Nice restaurant, though a little warm ! Bar meal also good value. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Had a really great stay at Olde Farm Barn. Check in was very easy, room had everything you needed. Spa area consisted off pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The only thing I would say is to have more seating around the pool area so you could sit and relax. Had amazing 3 course meal in the evening and tasty breakfast in the morning. Slept really well and ended stay with relaxing massage. All staff were pleasant and attentive especially Jane. Thank you for a lovely stay

Lovely venue, very clean and excellent valued food. A little remote but area nice and quiet . Interbnet acces very poor, which is the main downside of the saty. Good pool, very large. Good gym, but we didnt use it. Staff very helpful

Came up from Wolverhampton and stayed for 2 days, had a breakfast and one meal deal included. Lovely clean hotel, restaurant staff were really attentive, especially Jane, who my opinion went over and above. She explained the murder mystery weekends and we will definitely be coming back to experience those due to her recommendations, her level of professional service was second to none.

We had a brilliant deal with Travel zoo and a wonderful superior quiet room in the eaves with my two children sharing with us. The room was massive and I'm such a light sleeper in such a big hotel I didn't hear a thing. All the staff were very friendly. The pool was warm and steam room was hot enough to get my skin clear. The only negative would be the cleanliness in the pool changing rooms the floor was a little dirty and slippery. The breakfast could have had some chocolate muffins as my kids needed a little chocolate for a holiday breakfast treat. The dinner in the restaurant was very nice and extremely fast service and for my young children just what we needed after a long day. The room also had all the things you needed with lots of biscuits too!!

Good value for money. Excellent service. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay very much. It was so good that we came back within a few months and stayed here again. We have already recommended this hotel to ours relatives and would like to come back ourselves again.

Our initial welcome was disappointing, we were a little early and happy to wait in the bar for our room to be ready Did not appreciate the fact that we had to suggest this to a receptionist who needs some training in customer welcoming skills Absolutely not happy at the 3 choice menu at the evening meal, both of the first courses tasted of vinegar and the chocolate cheesecake desert tasted of bitter cheese and the table was not set for an evening meal.....We had to ask for a wine list, when chosen it came delivered by a waitress who said I know nothing about wine and didn't bring glasses and when we requested them she brought two un-matching and one of which was lipstick stained and my husband had to ask for a replacement before he opened and poured our wine! We absolutely ate in a village pub on our second day! We were looking forward to using the leisure as the pictures advertised showed a lovely pool with relaxing loungers which I was looking fwd to using to read in between taking a dip and steam etc.....All loungers removed due to COVID!!! Seriously, how long does it take to spritz clean a lounger Also, No Room Service Again due to COVID!! And the supposedly 'Superior Room' was overlooking the rubbish collection point and the van park so a great wake up call at 7am from noisy drivers! This is a joke We have been to several mini breaks now where all these things have been put right to an exceptionally high standard and there really is no excuse now not to get staff trained to get the service back to normal It's a shame that many UK places haven't taken the chance to make our country shine!

another great stay at the Olde barn , room clean and bed very comfy, staff freindly and accomodating, if I had to give this a downer it would be the menu , please offer more choice and change the menu regularly, as our stay was on valentines day it would of been nice to have a little decoration up

This was quite a large hotel, lots of people milling about all the time. It definitely gave the impression that the gym and pool were central to guests' visits. However, the changing rooms were not in use, and for lots of guests it was quite a long walk to and from the leisure centre. A receptionist told us that robes would be provided for guests coming out of the pool, in order to them shower back in our rooms. However, when we asked in the leisure centre, we were advised that they were not supplied. Our room itself was clean and functional. The decor was quite bland though. The bar area and restaurant were as expected. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay again, although for the Wowcher discount price that we paid. It would not be worth the full price. For couples or families wanting a short break to eat, drink, and use the leisure activities, I would recommend the Olde Barn. However, if you were looking for a pleasant location in which to take a stroll after your meal, there is nowhere to safely walk outside the grounds.

The room was shoddy with well worn furniture. Creaky floor boards i can put up with but thread bare carpet maybe not. The walls could have done eith a repaint. The bathroom only had a shower over the bath which dome people can't use due to leg problems. The door wouldn't close properly and stayed slightly ajar, found that out on returning to room, had to pull it gard to close it properly and shoulder barge it to open. The pool was so full of people that the staff were taking phone numbers to ring when there was room, no showers do had to shower back in your room after walking back to it soaked with a towel round you.

Booked a two night visit via wowcher and added another two nights at full price within 15 minutes of arrival. Staff were all excellent, food was fabulous, room was v clean and well maintained and spa and pool facilities were all great.

We stayed here for a murder mystery night. Service: Pretty good, we had no issues. Staff were polite and helpful both on the reception and during the 'murder mystery evening' no complaints. Room: Spacious and clean. Bed was ok but wasn't the best, decoration was slightly dated but fine. Bathroom was great, spacious and modern. Bath and shower with fab water pressure. Plenty of storage and large tv. WiFi was fine. Tea/coffee making facilities in room, along with hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Room had a window and radiator so able to keep nice and warm. I would worry if our young son was with us as the rad was very hot when we arrived. General facilities: Seemed excellent, spotted lots of ramps / adaptations, wide corridors, nice decor around the hotel. We only stayed one night so didn't have much chance to use the health facilities or sepnd time in the communal areas but from what we saw it looked great. Dining area was lovely and well maintained. Function room where we had the murder mystery was really nice. Food: The evening meal that was part of the murder mystery evening was good, cauliflower soup was really tasty, the main of pork or beef was ok and the dessert was ok. I think the quality sufffered slightly with having to serve 110 meals at the same time! But it was fine, came in good time and hot; all of our table finished what was on their plates. Breakfast in the restaurant was fantastic, buffet style but nice and hot, fairly fresh and well maintained. Murder mystery: We had a really enjoyable evening, at first we were a little lost as it was our first time with something like this. The actors got really unto it and there was plenty of entertainment. With 10 round table it did mean a lot of turning around to see what was happening, sometimes whilst eating! But it was fun and entertaining. Will be definitely be doing this again hopefully with a larger group and absurdly at this hotel. I could not comment on the location / things to do around as we didn't really visit for that though I did seem a little isolated. But it was fairly straight forward to drive to and plenty of car parking at no extra cost.

My partner and i were gifted a murder mystery night and enjoyed the whole evening. We were given a warm welcoming at reception with the whole evening explained to us. Room was lovely and just what we needed. Our waitress ‘Jane' was extremely accommodating throughout our evening. Would definitely recommend this to anyone of any age. The hotel also has a health spa which we haven't yet had the opportunity to take advantage of but looks incredible. Will definitely be coming back!!

We visited the olde barn hotel for a murder mystery night. The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. I would like to give a special mention to Jane who went above and beyond with her customer service. She made time to have a chat, tell us about the area and sort out any issue you had. It's not very often you stay somewhere that you can't find a fault with but I can honestly say I would highly recommend staying here! The spa and gym were pleasant and we made use of this. The breakfast was beautiful and lots of choice.

very good hotel the only let down was the all inclusive menu ,however bar food was good. rooms could do with a bit updating in areas. the pool etc well kept and warm was great value for money and enjoyable, would return

Stayed 2 nights and overall was really happy with the whole package Would return but witnessed a few issues during our stay. Firstly room was not as described and little issues like remote to tv didn't link, plug in sink broke so had to unscrew… but the biggest issue was seeing a member of the restaurant staff being be-Littles and bullied by regular staff in front of customers. Ameanities excellent. Few things need ironing out

We had a marvellous couple of day's away at this brilliant spa hotel. Everyone who works there looked after us amazingly and couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant, bar, spa & swimming facilities were excellent and my wife had a great time as we had gone for a couple of nights for her birthday.

We have just had a one night stay at the olde barn and what a lovely place, we couldn't find any faults with it at all. Staff very friendly, lovely and warm all over the hotel, our room was spacious and clean. Plenty of choice at breakfast. We used the swimming pool and spa which was an added bonus. It was my husband's birthday treat and we are very pleased we picked the olde barn hotel.

Staff were exceptional, friendly, caring and knowledgeable. Hotel was clean and for a 3 star, was more than I expected. Can't fault anything at all. We will be going back in the future. The location is out in the sticks, so there isn't much to do out of the hotel except strolling into the nearby village. But within the hotel, there is a health centre- gym, swimming pool etc.

This is a lovely hotel, surprisingly lush inside as on arrival it look very plain. All this changes once inside from the reception to the pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Room that we stayed in was absolutely fabulous very spacious and well equipped. Stay, you won't be disappointed !!!!!!

This was paid for with a voucher bought for my Christmas present. Overall it was nice and we enjoyed ourselves. The staff are so kind and very attentive, all through dinner and breakfast ensuring we were happy and in the bar too very engaging and friendly. The food was ok, not much option on the menu but we did enjoy our meals, although my husbands braised beef was tender mine was quite tough but still tasty. Luck of the draw! On entry the hotel is beautifully decorated, I think some refurbishment is underway though because upstairs the corridors and bedroom were very old fashioned and outdated, if this was refurbished to the standard we saw downstairs it would be gorgeous I'm sure. We were in room 602 which looks out over the car park and does have a lovely view of the fields. Unfortunately the bed springs could be felt from the mattress so I didn't have the best night, it would definitely benefit from a new mattress in there. The room was clean and the bathroom was lovely with a big bath and nice shower. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi are lovely and we really enjoyed our swim and time there.

Olde barn Hotel We have stayed 4 times at the olde barn great value with great amenities great for a relaxing recharge. Two nights bed breakfast and one evening dinner. Hotel is very clean staff hard working.

We booked a Travelzoo deal which was very good value. Our room was large , comfortable,clean and it had a lovely new bathroom. The fixed menu was limited and so we were offered to look at the bar menu and we could he an allowance of £19.95 per person to spend . The bar was busy and there was a good atmosphere. Breakfast was very busy the following morning. The furniture in the restaurant isn't as modern as the bar , but you can't have everything. All the staff were friendly, we did have a query with our account when we checked out , but this was dealt with in a professional manner.

The rooms, lounge and bar were lovely. Super spa facilities. Sadly the dining room was very shabby and the dinner poor. The main course was awash with gravy and the sweet 80% cream. Breakfast was good.

Firstly let me say staff friendly and helpful and facilities clean and decor maintained even if old fashioned design.Rooms clean but never stopped in hotel and had to inform reception to make up room when stopping more than 1 night or they will not service?!! No reception document help issued nor in room no telephone or hotel documentation. Want to contact resteraunt or health spa walk as reception tell you to do. Never stopped hotel with a room phone and not available to use via info menu or directory etc The fixed resteraunt evening meal menu issued on reception arrival is required to be filled in and returned just like hospital menus are. The menu comprising choice of 3 starters/3 Mains/3 deserts very limiting, with no Al la carte menu (though bar for snacks like burgers) Food good but beware waitresses carrying hot food across hotel corridor from kitchen. Worst is they still advertise facilities not available eg in Health spar I stopped Mon&Tuesday when requested massage on Monday told earliest Friday or Saturday and the sauna and steam room out of action for spares still as previous visitor on trip advisor noted weeks ago. However the pool did have real water in it! Useful most rooms on ground floor but makes for long corridors and long walks. On leaving went to reception to pay for beer bill drunk in resteraunt day before but they had no record of it. I paid anyway and left. Overall not a special or luxury hotel to visit, missing facilities and no real resteraunt food choices. Old fashion design hotel with plenty more better facility hotels about. Biggest moan why Best Western still advertises facilities that are not available or out of action. 3/10

Bought for me and my partner for a christmas present great room and food only problem was sauna and steam room were out of order great staff too carnt fault it for the money very clean and tidy would defiantly go back

My husband brought me this as a gourmet escape for two and it certainly was not that! The food was not gourmet. It was 2 star at best. Interestingly the bar has more food options than the restaurant! The breakfast options were very limited, particularly for vegetarians, and the food was swimming with oil. The spa was essentially broken with the sauna and steam room not working. We were stuck in a back room over the bins. With cracks in the walls, a draw fell off the cupboard. Insects around. A space heater because the radiator was broken, that no one informed us of. If we were not here for the spa/gourmet experience and just staying staying 1 nights b&b on the way somewhere or for an experience (like the murder mystery we were not informed of when we booked) we would probably have not concerned ourselves with it but this was supposed to be a gourmet break. When I spoke to front desk they just said they were sorry but did nothing about it. However the staff were all very friendly and clearly loved the hotel, which is also a positive!

We booked two rooms for the murder mystery evening and it was great fun. We really enjoyed it. The rooms were large , spacious and spotless. The food was OK not brilliant but for mass catered events it wasn't bad. However breakfast was a little disappointing. We went at around 9 and it was busy many things had run out and queues for everything. We didn't see any croissants at all although others had them. The sausages were a bit anaemic too but again I think they rushed as they were running out. Perhaps timings for breakfast would help?

Was given a superior family room right be the suite where the function was held. Fantastic. Meal was good, but it really annoys ne that it won't accept this review unless it's at least 200 characters, so I'm now waffling.

Just needed a night away with my partner..this hotel was just 40 minutes away..It was a great deal Dinner ,breakfast and accommodation all for £79 ..The staff were lovely and the room was nice and clean. Really couldn't fault the food , would definitely go again ...maybe next time to one of their murder mystery nights .

This is a great venue in a good location just off the A1 and is ideal for weddings and group social trips, the staff give you the full attention the food options are very good, bar snacks and meals are excellent prices are reasonable

Amazing 2 day break great value for money with extremely friendly staff nothing was too much trouble, would definitely go back again, we done a wowcher deal for our birthdays but was still worth every penny

Attended for a murder mystery night, it was fab. I don't think the murder mystery was that good. But the service was really good. The meal was average. Jane was amazing, she was attentive and went above and beyond

Stopped at the old barn in October 2021 decided to return, had three nights with breakfast and evening meal included on the first night. Food was good and bottle of wine reasonable priced. Ate in the bar for 2 nights good choice of food. Nice room

Back for our 6th stay, now that says it all!! This time we noticed the dinning room had recently been decorated and made a huge improvement with the decor. Phil the bar man was 1st class, very polite and attentive. Breakfasts are always a treat, with so much to choose from with self serve to make your own hearty plate full! Various cereals, fruits and yogurts, pastries and cakes. Bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms etc With Lloyd and Jane sailing the team there is always extras if needed. Jane even told us of a great place to visit if we had time. So we did, visiting local Stamford, if you get the chance you will love it! Evening meals are always great too, much needed after a hearty swim in the pool...Amazing value for money! David you have done yourself and Dee proud with your achievements since being here...well done!! Will be back again thanks all

We attended the news years party at the hotel, and this was a extremely brilliant night. We had been welcomed by Hannah at reception who was so helpful and informative. The evening was fantastic and the food was phenomenal. This was the first time visiting the hotel and we will definitely be back in the future.

Hotel was very clean, including the pool and lounge areas. Pool was very nice and kids loved it. Nice to have a sauna and jacuzzi for the adults as well. Steam room was not working unfortunately, but did not affect our experience. Evening meal was very good. In fact all 3 courses were great. Buffet breakfast was fresh and warm. Plenty of options and some of the best hash browns we've had. There was a mix up with the room we had been allocated, and our drinks bill has been incorrectly charged but both issues were rectified quickly and did not impact our experience.

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and always had a good experience so we decided to book a 2 night stay for Christmas this year. However, I have never experienced such poor quality of food and disgraceful customer service as experienced during this stay. It appears the change in management has been for the worst. One particular member of staff, Dave, provided the worst customer service we have ever experienced, going as far as to argue with and snub guests. The only saving grace was the customer service provided by Jane during breakfast on Boxing Day. She is an asset to the hotel, being pleasant, courteous and going out of her way to help and provide for us. This should be the standard for all staff, management included, not a singular occurrence.

Murder mystery was fun, food excellent. I would recommend this hotel but the table service was a bit hit and miss as they were serving 120 people. They served a table and moved on but didn't check to see if all the people had food had to go and ask for soup and main course as most people on the table had eaten their food and the vegetable were sat getting cold.

We were put into a room for the disabled when (we are not) which meant that the wash basin was at thigh level. The basin was hanging off the wall and the single lever tap was so powerful it sprayed water everywhere and we had to place our bath towels on the floor to soak it up. The window leaked and didn't close properly. The beds were awful. I couldn't sleep on my mattress because I could feel all the springs sticking into my body so I had to turn the mattress over. Food was very poor and portions were small. Service was terrible. we waited three qarters of an hour for our starters ditto main course. I had a brandy and asked for it in a brandy glass but was told that the tumbler I had been given was the only type they had. We would never stay again

Jane (waitress) was a god send. Helpful she couldn't do enough to make our last day enjoyable. Her service was excellent, she was friendly, knowledgeable, nothing was an inconveience to her, she enjoyed her job and it showed in the way she treated guests and looked after them. Beverly was great at her job too, they made an excellent team. We were not fortunate enough to have had Jane on our service (2nd) Christmas day lunch and it showed. The service was hit and miss depending on who turned up, but no amount of good service could make up for the terrible food. Christmas Dinner consisted of roast potatoes white with some brown edges, something over cooked and mashable, which we were informed were carrots, over cooked green beans, so soft they were mush. Thick slices of turkey that tasted of water. Others in our party had some stuffing too. The food may have been made for weaning babies it was that bad. Later we were informed that the food had ran out and there was nothing left for staff to eat. I don't know who the chef was, I would be extremely surprised if it were Nick (there was more than one,). Davis (waiter) was the most rude, disrespectful, person I have met at any hotel. Our first evening meal, he came with paper and pen to discuss my alergies, (which had been discussed with the hotel 3 months previously so we would not have to endure the rigmarole of discussing every ingredient in the food and having a salad substitute) he was so rude, couldn't be bothered to check our booking. After a heated discussion he left to retreave our booking information and never returned. I was not able to eat the food on the menu. Finally the chef Nick came to our table and offered to cook something I could eat. The meal Nick cooked was the best beef I had eaten in a long time, melt in the mouth excellent. We had high expectations after that meal. Breakfast on both mornings was good, choice was great nothing was over cooked. The majority of staff were good to excellent. However when Davis was around things were not good, he was not only rude to guests but to staff too. He has an over inflated ego, and is extremely careless. He dropped the food plates onto the table from a hight, got into your personal space causing uncomfort. When moving a large metal food trolley he smashed it into the back of my chair, later he was moving a large wooden table and smashed it even harder into my chair jolting my back. Jane, Beverly, Stacey, Obe? Were excellent hard workers.

We stayed at the Olde Barn Hotel for a couple of nights and can honestly say that our stay was absolutely fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and helpful to us. The food was really nice and the restaurant staff were very friendly especially Jane. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Overall a really brilliant stay

Comfortable and clean, warm and welcoming,quality food ( but not a huge choice) Rooms were spotless and a decent size but could hear guests in adjacent rooms. Swimming pool was a decent size . Up to date covid information and precautions in place. Free parking and easy access to local area.

The rooms are in need of a revamp. They are tired and evidently unloved. Peeling paintwork, holes in walls, missing grout and sealant in bathroom, chipped and damaged doors, iron shaped burn marks on the poor quality carpet. However, awesome shower with excelent water pressure.

Great time, staff friendly, atmosphere good value for money. This is a great hotel situated between Grantham and Newark on trent. The spa facilities are of a good standard as the fitness staff are very helpful and informative. Will return soon.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. we stayed two nights and would highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming particularly Jane in the breakfast restaurant. We look forward to returning to the hotel in the future

Great location to visit surrounding areas amazing food for breakfast and dinner and room service!!!! Our 2 dogs thoroughly enjoy their stay and meeting all the staff and so great to have a pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

We went with Wowcher offer and had read mixed reviews. We found the photos online do match the hotel. Nice big room and bathroom had large rainfall shower. Staff very friendly and it was great value for money. Visited Lincoln and surrounding areas.

My husband and I stayed there on the 8th of Dec and was welcomed by a lovely receptionist. The room was perfect with nice smelling bed sheets and comfortable beds. The food was good and the fish fresh.

The room was clean the gym facilities were excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. The pool and the jacuzzi were lovely temperatures and fresh towels were provided for every swim. Short drive to useful shopping centres.

Booked for our wedding anniversary as we got married at the Olde Barn 4 years ago. Couldn't fault anything and had a lovely weekend. The hotel is clean, rooms very spacious with large bed, bathroom with walk in shower, bath and 2 hand basins, all staff very friendly and food really nice. Cinderz story was something different. Unfortunately some of the audience were so rude as to talk through it, but that was nothing that the hotel could do anything about. If the hotel had other events similar to this we would consider attending.

Stayed at this hotel some years ago and was surprised that it had been refurbished throughout and provided more services. The only thing I could advise on is that there was not any USB sockets in the room.

Stayed here on a Travelzoo deal and got excellent value for money. Lovely hotel, nice room (although bed was a bit lumpy and could do with a lick of paint, plus the radiator in the bathroom needs a good clean!)) and excellent breakfast. The evening meal was also nice, although didn't feel very cosy. Good bar area, quiet room and excellent staff. Would definitely go back. We also used the pool area and it was very clean and nicely kept.

The room was clean but tatty. Evening meal wasn't brilliant. Soup was like it was made with a stock cube. Broccoli was overcooked. Wasn't too keen on eating my meal during the Muder Mystery. Couldn't concentrate properly.

Stayed for a murder mystery evening. Bar was reasonably priced. Nice bar food. Nice meal with the event. Breakfast was average. Good choice but sausage was bland and mushy. Disturbed sleep due to service trolleys going up and down the hall several times between 4 and 7 am Did not use bath as handrail seemed to be rusty.

Lovely hotel. Although heating not working in room but they sorted it out quickly. Bed was really comfortable. Attended for an event and the food was great. Busy at breakfast but Jane sorted us out and was really helpful. Lots of parking and really close to Downton shopping

Our room was large & very clean. The bed was comfortable. Bizarre situation in the bar where the menu was being replaced by a new menu at 6pm and the staff were getting confused at the overlap. Several items not available so we couldn't have our first choice but the food we received was hot and flavoursome. Disgusting incident where we witnessed a member of the bar staff make a huge fuss of someone's dog, then served the owners with drinks, watched them sit down and then told them they couldn't stay in the bar with the dog. The hotel markets itself as dog friendly - most dog friendly hotels will allow dogs in the bar area but not the restaurant. The owners were very upset and as dog lovers ourselves, it spoilt our evening. This same member of bar staff told us that breakfast would be served from 6.30am and yet on arrival at the restaurant at 6.40am, discovered it was actually 7am and we had to wait in the corridor. Such a shame as a beautiful hotel spoiled for us by poor customer service.

Enjoyable 4 night break away. Quite satisfied apart from breakfast disappointing. Staff very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much. Beautiful evening dinner and the spa and the pool was lovely and we will be back

Well what can i say we paid 99 pound so we all as a group didnt expect too much. But what a fantastic well organised event and hotel staff was amazing nothing to much trouble elsa was so good with us. very professional service provided we will be returning anyone hesitant about booking please dont you'll be pleasantly surprised

I was in the area for work and needed somewhere to stay. The hotel was convenient and was one of those bonus nights being a delightful places to stay. My room has recently been renovated and had the WOW factor. It was great to finish the stay with some good old fashioned GREAT friendly customer service from Jane during breakfast, thank you.

Firstly the hotel is good value for money, we had a lovely room 301, which was spotlessly clean & spacious.The staff in general were very friendly and accommodating, in particular reception, bar staff & Jane at breakfast. We also enjoyed the pool & spa facilities. Most communal areas are tastefully decorated but we understand that some of the bedrooms & definitely the restaurant need bringing up to the same standards. Food was ok but due to having to preorder from menu - it affected the freshness of certain aspects, especially with the starters. All in all though a lovely stay.

Well worth a visit. The food was lovely. The pool and spa were nice, although the steam room was broken. The rooms, including the restaurant, are slightly dated and need a bit of a tart up but the bed and pillows were comfy. Everything was very clean.

We spent the weekend there for a birthday surprise. The hotel is trying very hard and we had a great weekend with our dog. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much bother... surprise cake and Champagne...delivered to our table with style The room was spotless and very comfortable. On the downside, the Covid protocols in the restaurant in the morning were sadly lacking. No masks, no social distancing, no ventilation, overcrowded and very hot and as no sanitizer offered at the entrance several dozens of guests of all ages touched the cutlery at the self service buffet. A shame because the food was very good. The outside is very shabby and needs a makeover. Again sad, as the hotel on the whole was excellent value for money.

Warm and comfortable hotel in a peaceful and restful location. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym, bar decent restaurant, great rates. Jane, Jamie and Elsa looked after us very well in the dining room. All of the staff are great without exception. The rooms are large. The beds are huge and wonderfully comfortable. The shower was great and huge towels were provided.

We have just got back from a couple of nights away here for our anniversary! I have to say I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the mattress wasn't the most comfortable and obviously needs upgrading as for a super king it was very obvious how people had slept previously as the middle of the mattress was still as new but dipped off on either side and was slightly uncomfortable and noisy when turning over in the night!! Apart from that we have no other reason to moan!! Our room was spacious, clean and lovely. The staff were all outstanding, very friendly, helpful, warm, welcoming and couldn't do enough to help and make you feel ‘at home' the swimming pool etc were great and the entire hotel was spotless. Some areas did need some updating such as the restaurant but all that can be forgiven but lovely food and staff!!! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I promise we will be returning! My in laws are in the process of finding dates to suit them on our recommendation and let be honest nobody wants to upset their in laws so I hope that makes people realise I genuinely loved this place and recommend it!!!!!

Hi We came to stay with you on Monday 8th November for 2 nights. On our first night we had a 3 course meal at 7:30pm we was the only ones in there to start with them few others came, we had our starters which may I say was very nice then they brought out 2 sea bass which we didn't order we ordered belly pork and the meatballs do that was taken back and everyone else had their starters and main course then a waitress came up and said are you ready for desert and my husband said well we would like our main course first and they was sorry about delay but then we ordered lemon cheesecake and berry meringue which the lemon cheesecake came out but lemon meringue came out and not the berry one, was then told they had ran out but I wasn't given the choice just left it at that which I thought was rude. Wednesday morning went for breakfast at 7am as we needed to leave early, I was asked by the gentleman that was taking room numbers for breakfast if I was with the coach load, I said No do I look Chinese as they were all Chinese,I thought that was very rude too, there was people in the restaurant when we got there, there was NO eggs, NO milk & the bread for toast was all mouldy, which is disgusting!!! then the waitress called Jane came up to us and said are you ok we said no not really and told her what had been said to me and also that there was no eggs, bread mouldy, no butter or milk and she dealt with this straight away for us, I must tell you that this waitress Jane was a lovely lady and helped us very much so and I think that you should tell her from us thank you for All her help. Was looking forward to this little break as it was part of our honeymoon as we got married 3weeks ago, so disappointed at what had happened Regards Mr & Mrs Coe

We stayed for a murder mystery weekend which was really good unfortunately we did not solve the murder with the right person but enjoyed taking part! It was a bit chaotic at times and we wished that the characters would have introduced themselves!

We got a good deal from Travelzoo on this hotel. We had two nghts B&B with dinner too on the first night. Check-in was simple and efficient. The room was modern and well decorated with an nice bathroom. Dinner on the first night was only a little hampered by the wedding celebrations in progress - no ice, no water jugs, no wine of our choice - but pretty minor. A mix up over the starters at dinner left us waiting a short while at the beginning but the rest was served without fuss. The food was good. We ate the second night in the bar and again we had a wait for our food but were helped by a couple free drinks. We went to the pool twice during our stay, which was clean and well kept, with an excellent jacuzzi. Overall the stay was good and we would certainly go back if we needed to be in the area again.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The food in the bar was good, but choice in the restaurant was not good. Breakfast was carvery style, hot, very nice, lots of choice. Hotel was good value for money.

Arrived to easy parking & nice decor, but when we entered our room it felt tired, however I was travelling with kids so wasn't really bothered about a pristine presentation. However the extra bed that was offered on the website and had been requested on my booking was not there. Reception said it wasn't possible to add it due to the room I'd chosen to book lacking space, although that was not made clear on the website. After some discussion, reception contacted housekeeping with my request, they argued over the radio but eventually said it would be added to our room which saved our holiday. We were just going out as the spare bed arrived and although it proved fit for function once in, the actual mattress looked incredibly worn and dirty and worryingly my young child picked up a Rentokil container whilst playing which had been left under the bed. Once the room was sorted we settled in, found the beds comfortable, the room nice and quiet and the facilities such as the pool and game station great for entertaining children at no further cost. Breakfast was advertised as continental when I booked but turned out to offer a full English which was nice. Sadly after one morning in the Breakfast room we felt far too uncomfortable to remain and upon request were allowed to collect our cereal and take it to the quieter bar. Covid restrictions may have been relaxed, but as others have said in reviews the hotel could and should be maintaining some degree of effort to maintain a secure environment. We enjoyed our stay over all, but felt very anxious the whole time, the breakfast room was packed with no ventilation, staff did not wear masks, there were random bottles of hand gel hidden in a few locations but none were visible and guests were not encouraged to use any. Watching people serve themselves food, all touching the same utensils with no sanitisation was really off putting and we did not consume any more of the hot food because of it. The staff were a mixed bag, some appeared to have a less than welcoming attitude but then I witnessed them having to deal with numerous complaints from other guests which left them frazzled. We did became known by a few though and were greeted in a friendly manner at breakfast and in particular by a young dark haired lady who said that she was new in reception, she was very pleasant and went out of her way to help. Overall I think we enjoyed the Olde Barn far more than some of the other hotels we have tried, children were welcome, as were dogs I think if we had chosen to bring ours and the facilities were good, it is just a shame that the whole place seems a bit tired, the cleanliness and distancing with the current Covid situation is severely lacking and it felt like some of the staff were in need of greater support and management. This hotel has huge potential if the right person can give it an overhaul and improve standards.

This was not the first time we have attended a Murder Mystery evening at this hotel. Generally the hotel is your average hotel suited to one or two night stays. It's comfortable and clean if a little tired in some public spaces. The Health Club including. Swimming pool is adequate but the steam room was far too hot -I couldn't sit on the bench without risking burning my nether regions. Our room was a good size, especially the bed (a bit too big as it was very difficult to get between the wall and the bed). The room and bathroom were very clean and well equipped. We decided to have lunch in the bar before checking in. Friendly staff. Offers for coffee and cake were everywhere but the staff had no idea what the cake would be when and if it arrived AND the coffee machine was broken so only instant coffee - no thank you. We ordered two prawn and smoked salmon salads -NO PRAWNS - what? Asked if we could have extra salmon but no idea if we got more. The salad was very poor. Large heap of shredded pretty tough lettuce, bits of chopped cucumber and onion with bits of salmon on top. No tomatoes, no coleslaw or any other things you normally get in a salad. The dressing tasted of cooking oil. For almost £12 each they were dreadful. We were allocated room 706. Normally this would be on floor 7 but it's the second floor of a 2 storey building. I couldn't find the lift so asked at reception. There isn't one. I then asked how they knew I could climb stairs. It was apparently up to me to ask when booking about the lift, not up to them to check when allocating rooms (I didn't book a specific room and wasn't asked which floor I wanted when booking). Not very helpful. I was very grudgingly asked if I wanted a ground floor room. The Murder Mystery was great fun and the accompanying dinner was fine-vegetables a bit uninspiring but beautiful pieces of beef and chicken (with a veggie alternative). The breakfast was superb - just one comment and that is that the Grapefruit juice should be labelled as so many medications can't be taken with Grapefruit.

We had a fantastic evening and stay at the Olde Barn for the Murder Mystery event. I stayed with my Mum and 2 of my Aunts and they throughly enjoyed it, staff were lovely and friendly. Murder Mystery included meal and entertainment and both were very good. The only downside was we didn't catch the Murder. Great value for money. My Aunt left some belonging in the room, reception located these and had them returned to us swiftly! Great service! Thank you

Hotel break was bought as a gift, staff were all very helpful, changed our restaurant dinner allocation to the bar as more choice, hotel rather tired so hope new owners inject some cash as could be a goldmine

Could do better on the restaurant front.meal on first night was undercooked sea bass with carrots and red cabbage....wasn't pleasing to the eye but was hungry so ate it. This was supposed to be a 4star meal....more like training camp

On booking was not told by reception that there was a wedding on at the same time as our stay. Would booked another day. Staff were more concerned about the wedding guests than anyone else staying there. Staff didn't know we had a afternoon tea. So it was rushed and poorly presented the bread was hard and so were the cakes. Sent it back really ruined our day as we didn't eat anything all day looking forward to that. Manager took it back after we complained and agreed to give us a free meal at dinner time. Room was very dated was a superior room but premier inn room are far supuor to this one. All together very bad experience.

My husband and I stayed at the olde barn as a little 2 night get away. The hotel is situated in lovely countryside surroundings. We received a warm welcome from the reception, we'd arrived early so chose to explore lovely Lincolnshire and ate whilst we were out and about. When we checked in the newly appointed manager and his team were in the process of assessing the quality of the rooms and it was decided that a more suitable room would be afforded to us. The process was efficient and stream-less and we were given another room that afforded a more comfortable room at the managers discretion. The room was spacious clean and had all the amenities that we needed. Don't let the tiredness of the hotels distract from the super friendly and attentive staff here. We had amazing friendly and professional service, the breakfast was excellent and we had some yummy bar food(recommend the cheese platter) ! The breakfast was well organised and the wide variety of hot English breakfast and continental and vegetarian options are perfectly balanced. We had a lovely evening meal that we both thought was wonderful, with again lovely service. The hotel affords a very nice pool jacuzzi and sauna that we enjoyed each day. In all a lovely stay, comfortable, clean and excellent friendly service. Whilst the decor is a little tired in the rooms and dining area don't let this distract you from staying here as the welcoming and attentive staff far exceeds this hence our review award. The new manager is new in post and is super enthusiastic to quality, service and the hotels need of refurbishment. We look forward to visiting the olde bar in the near future and will be recommending the hotel to our friends and family.

We stayed here on a travelzoo deal, which included 1 dinner and 2 nights bed and breakfast. On the second evening we decided that we were enjoying our stay so much that we requested an extra night. We were able to stay in the same room, and got it at the discounted price of the original deal. The hotel is in a good location, but far enough away from major roads to be a very peaceful setting. Our room was spacious and impeccably clean, with everything we needed. The 3 course dinner is from a set menu (which changes every night from a set of 3, but is limited to 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 puds).. The choices are decent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. There is also a bar menu. Breakfast was as substantial as you wanted it to be, and the food was of good quality. All in all, a very good break. Although the hotel is listed as 3 star, we have stayed in several 4 star hotels which didn't reach the standard of the Olde Barn hotel.

We enjoyed our gift of a 2 night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast and wine. Our superior room was large, quiet and comfortable , especially the bed. The bathroom was clean with a bath and a separate shower. The staff, from reception to the dining room were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The two table service dinners were very tasty and there was a good choice of hot and cold dishes at the buffet breakfast. Some areas do need refurbishment but it did not spoil our experience. We hope to return in the future.

We had a great 2 night stay at the Olde barn, food, room, general atmosphere were all excellent. We would return to this hotel if we were in the area again. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great value. ,

We stayed at The Olde Barn Hotel, Marston for one night to use a gift voucher. From arrival, through to the leisure facilities and the restaurant for evening meal and breakfast, everything was top notch. The staff are attentive, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Our room was comfortable, very clean and well presented. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel, and exemplary staff. 5 Stars all round.

Murder Mystery, room, dinner and breakfast were all excellent, and the staff were fantastic. We will be returning for another Murder Mystery event in December, and are very much looking forward to it!

Reception areas/bar areas clean and bright. Restaurant tired, shabby. Room 202 smelt of backed up drains and had to be moved. Both 201 and 202 very tired room - Furniture battered and tatty. Bathrooms recently refurbished but taps in 201 completely loose. Generally clean. Staff seemed somewhat chaotic in evening. No atmosphere In restaurant, no music. Tiny rock hard bread rolls with starters. Staff comments were oh well, If u chose prawn cocktail You get brown sliced bread too. One prawn cocktail came without bread! Brought main courses before starter cleared. Main course Luke warm, veg hot and good. Breakfast - no brown bread or mushrooms. Had to wait 10 minutes for beans to be replenished. Hot water for tea was barely hot. Plates were cold. Health club. Pool area Tired and needed update. Man shaving his face sat at pool side!!!

We paid for a superior room, it was old and dated. Marked pine furniture. Shower fell to bits trying to turn it on. When we did get it on there was no pressure. The food was frozen. We had beef and were given mint sauce. We asked the bouncer/waitress for horseradish sauce but she dissapeard never to be seen again. Breakfast was even worse. Would never stop again

Very excellent today which was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. It was very nice and pleasant the evening meal was great and the breakfast was very nice. The hotel was very clean. And in a very relaxing setting

We stay at the Olde barn a few time a year it's a lovey friendly hotel … The leisure and spa facilities are great as are the staff… The rooms are in need of a little updating but for our two night deal it's well worth the money. The three cause dinner is quite good normally the night we ate there my meal was below standard I ordered a Caesar salad and it was dry and it looked a if it had been thrown on the plate such a shame as the produce was good! no dressing? We ate in the bar on the second night and the food was really tasty we all cleared our plates! Breakfast was really good lots of choice full English plus continental Excellent…. Only one problem was the waiting staff seem uninterested in there jobs no good morning if I asked for anything there was no smile nothing…. Jane was the only person that seemed to enjoy her job clearing tables asking if we needed anything and with a smile such a lovely girl….plus she would give us new places to visit as we have been to this hotel quite often and she keeps us going….

Everything was perfect from cleanliness to view from hotel bedroom window. The evening meal and breakfast was great. We visited Lincoln Castle which was only 20 miles away and a fantastic day out. Beautiful location and staff were very friendly.

This hotel was booked when our chosen Virgin Experience luxury country spa hotel closed down as a result of covid19. This was not an appropriate substitute so left us feeling that we had not received value for money or the expected experience. The hotel is fine as somewhere to stay for groups and is obviously used for corporate courses. The evening meal on the first night was really good, and still good on the second night. The breakfasts were OK, the staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. In addition, the Health club was OK and usable, so it was not a bad experience, just not what was expected for a birthday treat. The hotel would benefit from some updating, especially in the vaulted dining room which could be so much better. The reception and lounge area are really tastefully decorated and these are what you see on photos. It should not be on the Virgin Experience list as a luxury spa break.

I have been ringing your reservations line since yesterday afternoon. I was asked to call back both yesterday afternoon and night time.  I then rang again this morning and was through to a woman who told me that the reservation system was in use and she would ring me back, which didn't happen. I have then tried ringing over 10 times this afternoon, where the system has put me 2nd in line, then 1st, back to 2nd and then 3rd and 9th in the same call or left me at 1st in line until it cuts me off. I have bought a Groupon voucher for your Murder Mystery Evening on 23rd October 21, however, your booking system does not now leave me with much confidence for the evening. I have spent the money yet am unable to confirm the booking, which is both frustrating and frankly unacceptable. 

We stayed here for two nights in a superior room in a quiet part of the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The dining room however, is in need of upgrading, it is very tired looking, with worn tables. It looks out onto a courtyard which could be a resource but sadly is miserable and dull. One morning they ran out of bacon and we were told there was no more. The following morning the orange juice ran out and wasn't replaced either. The staff were all very pleasant and with a bit of money spent on updating the tired parts of the building it could be much more attractive.

I used to stay here when on business a lot until I gave up about five years ago. The staff weren't very friendly and I just didn't want to stay here again. HOWEVER, in need of a room recently while away on business I decided to give them a another go. Actually, I'm glad I did. The whole place has a much better atmosphere and the value for money was excellent. Unlike a lot of hotels that seem to have put their prices up massively, the Olde Barn Hotel is offering value. Well done and I'll be returning.

First class breakfast in a lovely hotel. Food was very good at breakfast, plenty to choose from and nice hot buffet, such friendly helpful staff. My only gripe was no room service unless you ask for it which would have been fine if I'd have been told.

Worst experience I've had. Cost a lot. Pool tiny and turned away as full. Hard bed. Dirty table with sewage smell coming in. Poor warmed small meals and dried tart slices. Thin wine £17 which is £4 in the shops. Breakfast was ok and best part of the meals and experience. Place needs a makeover as very run down.

In its day this hotel would have been highly regarded, but outside is definitely in need of update. Internal decor of good standard. However it still carries charm and our stay was enjoyable. Food was excellent but the service in restaurant was sadly lacking at times due to staff shortage and untrained younger waitresses

Staff pleasant enough but some were inexperienced ( only just started) They didn't know how to open a bottle of Prosecco - the food in restaurant in the evening was ok but nothing to write home about and there was a mix up with the starters

This hotel badly needs an update. The rooms are dark & have quite an odour to them. There was only warm water, so by the time you had finished running your bath it wasn't hot. We stayed 2 nights paying £240 at a discounted rate & we wouldn't go back. We had to wait sometimes 20 minutes to get a drink in the evenings & the same time to be seated for breakfast in the morning. I had to ask at reception for more tea for our room as we had used the ONE that was there.

Nice hotel but not much round about - one minute drive to local pub but check opening times. Pool looked lovely but didn't use it. Bar food was great and breakfast good, if a little slow due to staffing shortages. Nice comfy public areas.

We went on a two day break via Buyagift. Check in was great, everywhere was clean, and the room was big. The staff worked their socks off. At first sight everything was fine. But then the little things started to be encountered. All the plug sockets, except one, were completely out of range from the bed. At exactly the opposite side of the room. The socket by the bed was only suitable for a plug with a circular top pin - not the plug that everyone in the country is used to. As I need a CPAP machine, this presented a health problem. On the first night, we were entitled to a meal each. This can best be described as a "stealth" meal, as it was all but invisible. The single piece of beef and the "dollop" of what looked like powdered mash looked rather lonely on the plate. And when the veg came it was clearly (in the eyes of any half normal human being) a single portion requiring dividing into two. The following morning, there was no bacon by the time we turned up for breakfast - around 9am - as they had "run out". The second evening saw staff shortages, and, bizarrely, at some stage, we saw someone being interviewed for a job in full public view. The thing is, this hotel actually is better than its performance whilst we were there. But it really seemed to lack "management". And a few coats of paint here and there. It's sad, because it really won't take much to get it right.

Just had two nights at this hotel. First day was OK, pool and jacuzzi etc were fine, problems began when it came to eating in the Gravity Bar that night. Ordered food only for a few minutes later to be told "We've no rice", ok I'll just have chips instead. Following night, even worse. No staff on duty, queue at the bar for drinks or food was about 10 long, poor barman was run ragged. After about an hours wait we had managed to order our food only for a staff member to come to tell us that not only was there STILL no rice, there was now no steaks, gammon, burgers,scampi! Supplier problems was the excuse given. Do the management not know that you cannot run a bar meals service if you don't have the staples? Did the kitchen staff not see supplies were getting low and inform management? Do they not know how to stocktake and when that shows shortages, to go to a cash n carry wholesaler to stock up on those basic staple items? In the end the only food available was either vegetarian options or food that our children would not eat so we ended up having to drive to the nearest town and search for somewhere we could eat at. Not impressed at all, total lack of organisation and foresight. There was a wedding the day after we left, I certainly hope they got their food without the problems we and a lot of other guests had.

4 night stay during the end of August. I was in a top floor superior room which you had to watch your head as the ceiling was sloped and there were stains on the carpet. On my first night the remote for the TV wasn't working, the telephone wasn't working and there was only a blind on one of the skylight windows. I went to reception to tell them this, they gave me some batteries for the remote but it still didn't work. The following day the remote was fixed but they said they couldn't do anything about the blind and they had no more available telephones to change the faulty one. On the plus side the breakfast each morning was very nice and Jane who worked in the restaurant at breakfast was lovely, she always made sure my granddaughter was ok with what was offered for breakfast. The gym and swimming pool facilities were brilliant. The location was nice and was only a 5 minute drive to Arena UK which was where we went each day. So overall my stay was ok.

We stayed for a Murder/mystery event. Acting was very amateurish, and actually quite boring. Food served was mediocre. Our room was at the furthest point away from facilities, which was a really long walk.. Room was okay, everything worked, but a little tired. Breakfast was apalling!! No eggs, bacon, coffee or hot water for ages, toast took 6 minutes to cook - need some new toasters I reckon. Staff were in general okay, but full of excuses for the poor service.

Great overnight stay, room facilities good clean and comfortable, evening meal choices tasty plentiful, staff pleasant, helpful and professional. The Murder mystery was fun interesting with great actors. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choices well presented, great welcome by staff member Jane nothing too much trouble. Thank you for a great stay.

A excellent evening , enjoyed mystery, meal overnight stay and breakfast. A really good atmosphere, helpful and knowledgeable staff, nothing to much trouble. The whole experience exceeded expectations. Very reasonably priced too.

Booked a superior room , but was pretty much standard but that was probably because we had a dog .first night food served was cold , second night got served frozen cheesecake , at breakfast ordered scrambled egg came out microwaved rock hard .the only good thing was Lloyd and the young lady at breakfast who were excellent

Got the deal on wowcher and was lovely Used the sauna and steam room on arrival and then had a lovely 3 course meal and a lovely breakfast the morning after The room was superior room and was lovely a massive bed comfortable and bog bathroom with power shower and separate bath

The rooms were clean and comfortable and looked like they had been recently refurbished. The health spa and gym were great and enjoyable to use. The breakfasts were excellent and we would say the bar food was average - we didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that. All the staff were very friendly helpful and professional.

Stayed again on the amazing Travelzoo deal this month, but while comfortable enough we were rather disappointed this time - it seems to have got a bit shabbier over the past couple of years, and staff were clearly under pressure - probably largely due to arrival of a coachload of seniors from Sussex. We were most surprised to see the complete lack of COVID caution amongst these holidaymakers - no mask-wearing in the hotel and no social distancing for the buffet breakfast, and on the two mornings that we had breakfast only one of the restaurant staff (a young man) was wearing a mask. Even though we have been double-vaccinated, this made us rather uncomfortable. With infections on the rise, this surely requires attention by management??? Not sure if we will be returning in the future after this experience, which is a pity.

I booked this hotel for a two night break for our wedding anniversary. A few days before we were going, I found out that my granddaughter and her partner were staying there a couple of days before us. I contacted the hotel and arranged for a note to be left in their room with a message to say to 'Have a drink on us' and paid the hotel for them to have a drink at the bar. My granddaughter text me t say that they had arrived ad that their room was lovely but didn't mention the 'drink'. I emailed the hotel and received a reply that evening, apologising but they had forgotten to leave the note. However, my granddaughter had just been to reception and they told her about my message. Consequently, my first impression was that they weren't very organised. We checked in, chose from the evening menu and went to our room. It was a lovely large room and everything was very clean. We arrived at the restaurant for our 8 o'clock booking but had to wait about ten minutes for a table. When seated, a waitress asked for our room number and asked if we would like a drink. This was served and our starter followed. Our main course followed but my food was not served with Lyonnaise potatoes that I had ordered as per the menu. The restaurant was very chaotic. They seemed very short staffed. We asked a tall waiter for bread rolls and water (which every other table had) but they never materialised. Our dessert was served and I was asked if I wanted cream, I declined. The waitress went away without asking my husband if he wanted cream. Tables were not cleared/cleaned promptly. The whole lack of service spoiled our anniversary dinner. Breakfast the following morning was even more chaotic. I found a table to sit at but it hadn't been laid correctly and the table was very sticky, it clearly had not been cleaned. I asked a waitress if we could have some cutlery and could she clean the table as it didn't look like it had been cleaned from the previous evening. She snapped at me that we were the fourth people at the table that morning. I declined to say that it should have been cleaned ore thoroughly. Replenishment was a major issue. Most of the hot items needed replenishing but it was so slapdash. i.e. when fresh eggs were brought in, you had to wait for hash browns, waiting still longer for beans and tomatoes. There was a queue of people waiting for clean coffee cups and for the bread to be replenished. Then there was a wait for the yoghurts and fresh fruit. The evening meal was a bit more organised than the previous evening but still fell short of the service that I would expect. Breakfast on the second morning was a completely different story. It was hard to believe that it was the same restaurant with the same staff. All this was because of a gentleman whose name I believe was Lloyd (spelling?). He greeted us on arrival, apologised in advance that there was no orange juice as the order hadn't arrived (which is out of the control of the hotel). Lloyd seated us a freshly cleaned and laid table and asked if we had eaten in the restaurant before to make sure that we knew where everything was. His eyes were everywhere, making sure that everything was replenished before it needed to be, ensuring tables were cleared, cleaned and re-laid promptly. It was all an oasis of calm. I just wish that Lloyd had been on duty at each of our meal times as he ran the restaurant with a smile on his face and eyes that anticipated everything, giving you a good dining experience. The staff that we encountered were friendly. The food that we had was of a very good quality. On check out, I was asked about our stay and presented with the bill. I explained all of the above and pointed out that one of the drinks that I had ordered in the restaurant was not on the bill. The receptionist explained that they were short staffed. She thanked me for pointing out the error in the bill and wouldn't charge me for it or the other drink that was on the bill. Following her advice that they were short staffed in the restaurant, my criticism may be a little harsh. Would I return to this hotel? Yes, I certainly would. The grilled salmon with pea risotto with creamed spinach was cooked to absolute perfection. I would return for that alone!

Once again even after a change of ownership the Olde Barn continued to impress. For the price we paid it was an excellent break. We have now been four times and always enjoy this hotel. It really does tick all the boxes with good food a really big pool and nice rooms and very friendly staff.

Just returned from a short break at the Olde Barn Hotel with friends and our dogs (3 couple and 3 dogs). We took advantage of an offer on Travelzoo and it was a bargain! The location (for us with dog walking) was not the best as you really need to get in the car to go anywhere but . we would highly recommend a visit to The Thorold pub in the village. Unfortunately they don't serve food on a Monday or Tuesday, The food and drink in the hotel was fine and plentiful. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and we would particularly like to mention Jane who worked very hard at breakfast to accommodate our dogs - making sure they had sausages for their breakfast - and serving us in a separate room away from the restaurant. All in all a very pleasant stay!

Jane from the breakfast staff was particularly helpful and nice and suggested some places to visit . Also the breakfast manager was extremely helpful and friendly . Another special mention goes to Lexi , who was very helpful , funny and lovely and also 10 out of 10 for the bar staff and reception and the ypung lady at the Spa !, Thank you all very much for all your help and effort!

Hotel is in agreat place if you want peace and quiet ( which we did !) - It is about a 30 minute drive to Lincoln through beautiful countryside. The hotel is clean, plenty of parking, and the room was great. The only thing which let it down was the serivice at dinner, which was disorganised. There food was really good, but a number of diners complained that they had been waiting for some time between courses. I am guessing this is down to a lack of staff due to Covid, and therefore perhaps I should not be too critical. The staff at the desk are great, and were really helpful - we will probably stay again.

We stayed here with friends for a 2 night break. Check in was quick. As we were having dinner on the first night as part of the deal we were given a menu and asked to pre order which we found strange. However all became clear in the restaurant. There were very few tables occupied and only 2 waitresses. Our starters came quickly which were really good. Then we waited 45 minutes for our main. The waitress came over to apologise as one of the mains was unavailable and offered us a round of drinks on the house in way of an apology. She told us service was slow as she was also waiting on in another room which was holding a murder mystery event. We asked for vinegar and apple sauce which she went to get but never returned! We eventually got our desserts and finished our meal after 2.5 hours! The bedroom was clean and comfortable with a four poster bed. The bathroom had both a bath and shower. Breakfast on the Saturday was chaotic and there wasn't enough room to seat everybody in the restaurant. Yet again due to lack of staff. We ate out breakfast in the bar which was fine. Breakfast consisted of cereals, fresh fruit, toast and full English. The food was very good just a shame it couldn't have been better organised. There was a nice pool with steam room and sauna which weren't too busy. All in all a pleasant stay although we felt sorry for the waiting on staff as no management appeared to roll their sleeves up and muck in.

Fancied a night away with leisure facilities. Fantastic value for money Sunday night special. Use of lovely swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room etc. 3 course evening meal. Starter and dessert nice, main course was poor. Spacious clean bedroom. Adequate breakfast. The hotel is very tired and in need of a good paint outside. Will definitely return though.

A fantastic hotel. Staff were fantastic! What stood for me was Jane that was organising the breakfast. This girl was fantastic and a credit to your establishment! This person was what made the hotel! Jane went out of her way to make our stay fantastic. Such a lovely person. Because if Jane I would recommend this hotel! Well done to the person that hired Jane. Obviously someone with detail for good staff!!!

Absolutely fantastic stay... food fabulous the staff were lovely ... especially Jane on our breakfast shift ... she was Absolutely first class... couldn't have asked for more ..will most definitely be back !!!

Marvellous service especially breakfast which was delicious and Jane in the restaurant was so friendly and smart remembering our needs from the morning before . Receptionist were also excellent with very easy check ins .

Lovely stay, staff was very welcoming and helpful, rooms were great although our tv did not work, would have been offered room swap but hotel was full. Otherwise it was a great deal would stay again! Three course meal was nice but limited menu however breakfast was amazing so much to choose from so not disappointed one bit! Spa facilities are really good - desk staff are so helpful. Would stay again.

Booked with Living Social Voucher. Great value for money, lovely room, tasty food, our evening meal was included in the deal. We enjoyed our stay and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Good choice of breakfast options. Good shower, big TV!

We paid for a superior room. As a treat but it was more like a standard room rock hard bed and no hat water very poor standard,room was shabby and needed up dating we had family who also stayed and where in far better rooms for the same price

The evening meal was quite good, breakfast with all the trimmings was very good, all the staff were very nice and friendly, the hotel could do with a spruce up but still ok, over all I would say a nice place to stay.

We have passed this hotel many times and often thought how handy it would be to stay there being so close to our destination. So when we finally got the opportunity we booked for 4 nights as a family of 4. When we arrived the front reception area was very nicely decorated and we thought we were in for a treat - oh how we were disappointed when we got to our room! The room was very dated, very cramped and not very clean at all. There were sweet wrappers down the side of the bed and the whole room was stale. We ate in the bar area and the tables were sticky. The staff tried their best but to us it looked like no one was in charge and there were definitely not enough staff. We paid a lot of money for 4 nights and will not be returning any time soon.

Having read some of the bad reviews of this place we were rather concerned about our forthcoming visit. However, we were very happy with our stay. We had a lovely large room, as big as any we have stayed in. We had a large bathroom with two sinks, a bath and a walk in shower. there was everything needed in the room including hostess tray and large TV. Everything was beautifully clean. The only fault one could find with the room was that there was no view, but this did not trouble us. The food in the restaurant was very good indeed and the service was good too. What more could one require at such a fantastic price. Excellent value. Thank you.

We stayed here for 2 nights, the room was spotless, the food breakfast and evening meal were delicious. The staff were amazing, they were friendly, polite and very hardworking, especially the dining room staff. The pool was clean and very covid friendly. Will must certainly return and highly recommend.

One night stay en route to another place. Comfy rooms. Clean communal areas. Some noise in the morning from other guests but over all a good pleasant stay. Our friend used the pool which he enjoyed. Food smelt lovely from the restaurant but we didn't eat therr

The hotel is ok, we stayed as we found a really cheap voucher so it was good value for money. As other comments mention the place does look a bit tired and dated, the bathroom has a separate bath and shower which is convenient. The main issue in the bathroom is the shower being ‘walk-in' so when you're done showering the whole floor is drenched. The bed/ pillows were quite uncomfortable, hard and deflated. Unfortunately we stayed during the heatwave and the hotel had no aircon, there was no offer of a fan but we also didn't ask for one as we brought our own in preparation. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We had a dinner included in our reservation, the portions were really large however the quality wasn't the best. Breakfast was included and again was Buffett style cooked breakfast and continental. If the goal is to feel stuffed at the end you can easily do it here but if you actually want to enjoy the food then it's nothing special. The pool/jacuzzi/ sauna was really nice and quiet when we visited. The location of the hotel is good, lovely village a short walk away with a nice pub. Overall this hotel does the job.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Olde Barn and that was due mainly to the food, everything was lovely. Lincoln sausage and good quality products, cooked very well, in actual fact the best breakfast I have had in a Hotel for a long time. On the Saturday night we had the 3 course evening meal, my husband and I both chose different for every course, and you couldn't fault any of them. The rooms aren't wow but they are clean with everything you need. There is a village pub about 10 mins walk away, which is a co-operative whereby the villagers have shares in it. Again the food exceptional and the staff really friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back.

some of the best food ive had, lovely pool and extra's, great staff and reception, but .... the whole building is looking a bit tired, needs a refresh, we had upgraded to executive but the 4 poster trimming at the top pelmet was dusty.

Gift voucher break, leisure pool, steam room and sauna very enjoyable, accommodation good. Evening meal had the sea bass it was gorgeous. Only comment we would make is to make the outside seats more comfortable, ie perhaps add cushions, but otherwise a great stay

On arrival we were allocated a superior double room, once in the room we found it to be absolutely disgusting, badly stained threadbare carpet with moth holes, and a hole covered by a wastebin, furniture outdated and badly marked, tv with only a few channels,paintwork in dire need of redecoration. We complained and was allocated a far better room albeit decor needed attention, the bed was the most uncomfortable thing we've ever had the misfortune to lay on the springs digging in and making a noise every time we moved. The restaurant is outdated hot and filthy, and the food we were given was scarce and sometimes inedible, prawn cocktail consisting of lettuce and prawns that smelt so strongly with limp buttered bread that we couldn't eat it, cheesecake that was warm and soggy, salad that was warm and slimy, its a wonder that we weren't ill, the pub down the road has excellent food. All in all this is the worst Hotel we've ever stayed in, poor service, poor uninterested staff, poor facilities, avoid at all cost or stay at your peril.

Just outside Grantham, The Olde Barn Hotel offers an excellent retreat. There's a spa comprising 15 metre pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gym. The village of Marston now has a Community run pub which is only half a mile away, so it is well worth a visit too.

The bedroom was excellent. It was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable. The room contained a TV, tea,coffee and biscuits as well as a hairdryer and an iron and ironing board. There was a desk and chair with a well positioned electrical socket to make using a laptop easy. The desk had plenty of drawers for storage. There was also a full length mirror. The food served in the restaurant was delicious. The service was excellent. There is ample parking. The hotel is easy to get to as it is just off the A1. There is free internet throughout the hotel (although it seemed rather slow).

Preordering of the dinner enabled the kitchen staff to preprepare our evening meal. It was a disaster. Dreadful lamb dish overcooked and tough served tepid. Fresh fruit salad turned out to be a chopped up apple which was dried up and brown. When I told the waiter this was unacceptable he just removed my plate without comment. We were not the only couple complaining that night. The following night we tried to book elsewhere but found the local places were all closed or full. We ended up eating in the bar which was much better as the food was prepared freshly and served by two men who knew what they were doing. Very disappointed in the food . Our room was basic but clean although the TV was very small.

Hotel is starting to look like it needs refurbishing, large car park, quiet rooms, but room looked tired with patches in the carpet, very small TV screen and it just felt old. Both meals were oK dinner menu quite small.

Nice hotel free parking quite surroundings the food is good. Breakfast evening and bar meals. Not far from Lincoln with other nice places to visit. We went on one of there deals been twice now and Both times were good. All staff were friendly and helpful.
