Best Western The Hatfield Hotel

This place is an absolute gem ! The bar staff Millie and kaylan were so helpful and the cocktails were amazing and was lovely to be served by them . The room was adequate enough for both of us and the sea view was amazing . The food/ restaurant was 10/10 as did not fault in taste and value . The cake and coffee bar was amazing all homemade cakes by Jenny ! Amazing taste . As well as the service from them . We will definitely be booking again . Great place to stay and very welcoming.

Not a good experience from start to finish. Bed had springs sticking through mattress, noticed around 10pm when actually getting into bed after a full on day. No sleep apart from the first couple of hours as so tired. Shower head just lay on the soap dish as holder too big to attach to. Awkward!! Complained early the next morning but receptionist suggested I should have done this at the time and they would have moved me. Well I'd have moved myself as they would have given me another room. Don't think so, not in my pjs!! Cant have porridge and a cooked breakfast as porridge is a hot meal and i would have to pay for cooked full english! Also, on our first night we asked for a cheese board. They hadn't got enough cheese in the hotel to do this. Unbelievable! Next day was offered an upgrade to sea view room which had scaffolding infront of the window, (I understand they have to upkeep) No compensation offered for the sleepless night I had ,so asked to see manager. He arrived.... no smile,no greeting, already on the attack. Offered 30% off my bill, which was better than nothing but still not impressed. I could go on with countless niggles but wont be staying here ever again

Carvery was as usual first class, food was hot, excellent quality, all staff very friendly and helpful especially the chefs and Becca, Nat and Ella. Went again yesterday 21/03/24 for breakfast, which was excellent, and staff saw to our every need which being aged and infirm my wife and I much appreciated.

We went to a mother's day meal 6 adults 2 children, firstly warmly welcomed and shown to the table loads of room nice decor as well. we all opted for the carvery at £13.45 each and cheaper for the children, well what a very pleasant surprise, Loads of options for meats and vegetarian and tge veggies and yorkies were absolutely lovely. We as a whole family really enjoyed everything, I would say the best Carvery we've had in a long long time and the chef, really informative and very funny. Thankyou for a great afternoon!!

For a 3 star hotel this did not disappoint. We stayed for just the one night on a b&b basis. We were off to the Marina Theatre. The service was impeccable. Friendly welcoming. On check in and all the way through. At the bar late at night to breakfast food and waitress the next morning. Clean and warm room. really hot water for the shower, tea and coffee making facilities. I know it's dated, it's been in Lowestoft for many years and you don't expect luxury for the price, yes I know I am a local. But if you want a night away or longer you couldn't go far wrong. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, those eggs and that porridge. All cooked and home made at the time of ordering. Impressed so much so I am thinking of calling there for lunch. Great location, virtually on the beach and only a short walk to the town. Only thing is the bed was a bit hard and uncomfortable for me but they said they would look into it. Would I stay there again, the answer is yes. Thank you all for a very pleasant stay.

A very impressive job done by the team. The bar and restaurant is well appointed, the food and drinks were very reasonable and of good quality. The staff were genuine and professional. Either the training they have had is excellent or they appoint really nice people or maybe both! It's s in a great spot in the nicer part of town, literally a 10 step walk to the beach. We will definitely be back in the summer.

There was no hot water to wash before going out for the evening. When we mentioned it at reception we were just told it was because the hotel was full and not offered any compensation. The dining area was very dusty and looked unclean. The hotel seemed to have a general aroma of cooked cabbage.

Bad stay here from set go. Bed bad broken and wouldn't change us to new room . Bad flooring outdated hotel. Wouldn't allow to change my item on breakfast even when I'm allergic to mushrooms which I even told them when I booked in. Rude staff and just not good stay at all

Stayed in the lodge which was awful. Attended a birthday party in the basement bar function room which was awfully staffed, 40 minute wait for drinks which left people going upstairs to buy drinks to bring down. Had a breakfast here in the morning which was ok, although we got white cheap bread instead of what was on menu.

Room was nice and clean and looked like it had been recently refurbished. Excellent full English breakfast as well as continental self service. Hotel seemed popular with walkers calling in for a coffe and cake when strolling along the promenade. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stop their again when visiting the area.

Went into the cafe/bar for a hot drink as we have done before. I ordered a decaffeinated americano with oat milk. I cannot believe that I was charged 50p extra for a tiny 40ml jug of oat 'milk', when I buy my own from the supermarket at just under £1 for 1000ml!!! How can you seriously justify this extra charge, in this day and age when plant-based milk alternatives are so readily available. In fact, would you have deducted 50p from my friend's coffee, had she asked for it black? Additionally the tiny cup was so full to the top that there was no actual space left for the oat to be added. I asked for a larger cup, which the waitress kindly grabbed from the top of the coffee machine. The first larger cup was dirty, so she quite rightly put that aside. The second seemed clean at first, so my coffee was poured into it, albeit not without spilling some of the coffee. I told her not to worry about it, as I felt sorry for her, she clearly felt nervous. Then she noticed the mug was now creating rings, so she grabbed a third mug and again poured most of the coffee into that. By that point she was a bit embarrassed too, so kindly offered to add a bit of hot water. I smiled and agreed, but asked for not too much water, as I wanted space left to add the oat. Meanwhile a second bartender walked past and gave me the 'rolling eyes look', which I did not appreciate at all. After all that, the coffee was delicious, but I cannot get over the fact that a £2.75 coffee cost me £3.25 just because I have to avoid dairy!!! Nothing wrong with the service nor the taste. My suggestions, don't charge extra for a milk alternative and set your coffee machine so your staff can leave enough space at the top of a cup without having to waste coffee or feel like there is hardly any coffee there. Sadly, I don't think I will be back for coffee, as I refuse to be charged extra for something that I cannot help having to ask for.

Visited a few times what on holiday. The Sunday carvery was delicious. We also had a meal on Friday evening which was excellent. The staff were very attentive and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this as a place to eat and drink. The location makes it special

Visited today with my wife to have a carvery and must say we were both very disappointed , the food was cold and tasteless . The Bar staff unfriendly, such a shame because this place used to be so good.

From the moment we arrived at check in to leaving we had a fabulous stay. Cecelia welcomed us in a friendly way Our room was lovely - spotlessly clean and comfortable Breakfast was delicious The bar was stocking local ales which were lovely Definitely recommend

Went for Sunday carvery. The lamb was very fatty, the cauliflower cheese was runny, the red cabbage wasn't how it should have been and it could all have been hotter, so rather disappointed. Some of the meals were better than others.

An hotel receptionist informed me not all rooms have been renovated but wide single bed room 101 had been. As my purpose was to tick off the Lowestoft rail line as travelled and visit the terrific East Anglian Transport Musuem, I expected The Hatfield to be another rundown English seaside hovel. It was not. My room faced the street but there was no discernible night traffic. The bed, pillows and lighting were all good, as was the desk. The bathroom had a modern curved hard plastic shower. Hot water was almost instant. Agajn, the designer arranged excellent basin lighting so great for shaving. Many hotels fail on this. Staff were fine. I did not eat brekky at the hotel. Tea, coffee and milk plus a kettle were supplied as was shampoo and body wash. It was an easy 12 minute walk to rail and the Joseph Conrad Wetherspoon. There is a bus stop outbound at the hotel. The hotel is seaside. Weather was windy and rainy on my first night but serene the next. Well done to the owners and staff.

The room was clean and lovely, all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. But most of all the food was excellent as well as the fantastic service we received during our stay by waitress Ella, she was an absolute delight and made a massive difference to our stay. We actually decided to have all our evening meals at the hotel instead of going elsewhere because of the quality and choice of the food and how well Ella looked after us. She is a great asset to your business and we will definitely be returning to the hotel.

Called last Sunday for the carvery and thoroughly enjoyed it especially the pork, melt in the mouth delicious. All staff were very friendly apart from the guy slicing the meat who seemed to appear he wished he was somewhere else.

Had a sea view room, it was very tired with pealing wallpaper and a shower you gad to squeeze in sideways. The room was like an oven even with open window and fan. Mattress had roll off edges and concrete pillows. Meal can as child size portions with full DIY service to get menus, cutlery, only sachets of sauces and vinegar. Reception and other wood surfaces very sticky. Reception staff and manager very unhelpful. I will never go there again

The meal we had in the restaurant was excellent. We booked a table easily for 6 of us with a Seaview. The Beef sizzler was delicious brought to the table on a hot sizzler plate. The braised Beef cheek was so soft it fell apart & the vegetables were not over cooked. Cate our waitress was very friendly & efficient. Finding information as we asked & checking that non of us had allergies. The bar staff were helpful & friendly. Highly recommend will definitely be back.

My 5th hotel this month but this has character unlike some of the high-rise corporate boxes I've been staying in these last few weeks. Room was clean and comfortable with an easy-facing sea view reached via a pleasant warren of twisting corridors and short sets of stairs. All the staff we came in contact with were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was fine. A bonus is the hotel car park, which is just across the road. Situated on the promenade a pebble's throw from the beach yet surprisingly quiet. I'd stay here again

The young barman Will provided excellent customer service, he was so friendly and carried our drinks to our table outside as my Guinness was settling. A lovely lad. Only issue was that the Wi-Fi was non existent, so if you definitely need it then maybe this hotel isn't for you. Our double room was a good size and very clean. We ate in the bar, my partner had the caesar salad which she said was excellent. I had fish and chips which were very good. All in all a good stay in an excellent location. Sort the Wi-Fi issues out guys and you're laughing.

Best Western customer service disgraceful!! I used tesco vouchers to stay here in August 2023. Firstly, not impressed that price for executive room was about £30 less on Best Western than the link we had to use to process the tesco voucher code. Thus was NOT becsuse of any special deals either. That in itself is very wrong! The hotel was breing re-painted externally and was looking nice. Staff seemed friendly. Good point was that the room was big and sea view was lovely. When we entered the executive suite we were greeted by a musty smell. The windows were all open and as a result there were many many tiny flies over all the windows. TV mount was for a much larger TV, as shown on room picture when selecting it, but the TV on the mount was only about 32inch. Carpet wasn't fitted well. Lots of loose rolls. Curtains smelt very dusty. Bathroom floor tiles had many areas with lots of grout missing making them feel sharp underfoot in places. Some floor tiles made cracking noises as walked over. Shower section had a shower head that was in absolute desperate need of a good clean. Very brownish looking and yuk. Bath was fine. Various items of furniture in the room didn't match and whilst the curtains and bedspread visually looked fine, this was most certainly not an executive looking or feeling room at all. We did ask at reception if we could change rooms but we're categorically told none were available. Strange as the hotel did not seem busy. We asked about fly spray for the fly issue but again, no joy and not really interested about the issue or sorting anything for us at all. Very dissappointing lack of customer service. Breakfast was nice and tasty but the extras were expensive. When we gave feedback to Best Western we were told we should have complained on the day. We told them we had but nothing was done. Equally, Best Western have done nothing to refund or compensate after the fact either, all they said was they have plenty of returning guests. Disgraceful attitude. This is most certainly NOT good customer service and ultimately if you book an executive room it should be an executive experience and it definitely wasn't. Also, whilst I have cats and love my cats, I do not expect to see a cat roaming a restaurant area. No mention of it on the hotel website and no consideration if any guest are allergic. Because of the room condition, how nothing was sorted, a ridiculous very poor response from Best western from there feedback team and the fact the room cost more via Tesco link as opposed to Best Western site, I DO NOT recommend this hotel or Best Western. If Best western feedback team had done something to compensate/refund me i might have chalked it up to poor location choice but seeing as the feedback representative was equally devoid of customer service and not at all bothered whether the experience reflected very negatively on Best western, I wouldn't recommend Best Western at all. Go use a Premier Inn Plus Room instead, a lot lot better!

Good hotel in a excellent location along the seafront. Staff very helpful and polite. A big shout for Cate who took great care of us at dinner. Rooms nice and comfortable and clean. Restaurant and bar has nice atmosphere overlooking the beach.

Lovely stay close to where we wanted to be, a relaxing couple of days, very clean and neat, in maybe not the best surroundings, Glad we chose this Hotel though. good food served and nice cake counter for an afternoon nibble.

Room was a basic double. Bathroom looked like it had been refurbished recently, the rest of the room was looking tired, although it is noted the hotel was slowly undergoing a refurbishment. Cooked Breakfast was acceptable. Cold buffet was short of yoghurts most days, orange juice ran out one morning and I had to ask staff to refill it. Also no white bread for toast on one morning and I was informed there wasn't any more. All things that should never happen, running out of basics. One thing that spoilt the visit was a cat being allowed free roam of the hotel ground floor, this included the dining room and bar. It was seen sitting on chairs in the dining room whilst food was being served and eaten. It also was seen lying at the bottom of the single step between the carvery area and dining seating area. This is not only a health and safety, but also a public health issue. Animals with the exception of assistance dogs should not be allowed in any area where food is served and eaten. All staff just ignored it as though it was a regular visitor.

1 night stay with work. Very misleading website, tiny hot room, I've not stayed anywhere like this since the early 80s, felt sorry for those that had paid to stay here, no star low enough to award,just go somewhere else. Bar ok, food very very basic, £120 for what feels like a very hot prison cell.

Treated my friend for her birthday - but a real treat for me too. Varied sandwich selection - moist fluffy scone with lashings of clotted cream - excellent cakes - my favourite the delicious lemon tart - Hatfield bake all their cakes on the premises and they are quality Friendly, attentive staff - lovely atmosphere and a view of the sea - perfect - well done - now to find another friend with a birthday to celebrate

Outstanding afternoon tea- generous servings of tea,coffee,sandwiches plus delicious homemade cake. Service was superb attentive without being intrusive - nothing too much trouble.. highly recommended

Lovely views from our room, staff work very hard , however when you pay £178 for one night say and the breakfast was absolutely ridiculous smallest thing I've seen and your not allowed to swap anything if you don't want an item you can't have another unless you pay and it had to be sent back because it was cold Bedroom was awful but clean the most uncomfortable bed I've slept on

An absolutely tiny single room, barely room for myself and my bicycle: worse it was stupefyingly hot and stuffy (no way to open a window). The bike was in my room because the bike storage I asked about in advance didn't seem to exist. I hauled the bike up in a squared lift and carried it down the stairs. I've stayed in many hotel rooms and this was one of the worst - for over £100 for a night. If this is ‘Best' Western I won't be back

This is the second time we have visited this establishment,my family and I have been blown away with the quality of food,value for money and service.Thanks for making our holiday complete every aspect of the restaurant is run like a Swiss watch.

Management had not changed the advertised price for cocktails on the menu as you enter the bar from the beach side, and refused to honour this at the bar. I was thanked for pointing out the error but refused to honour the advertised price. Have never had a good experience here and will avoid this place in future.

Grew up in the town of lowestoft and had many events here so slways visit when travelling back from London to see family, so was shocked by such rude and unhelpful staff. Walking with my very small dog thought I stop and have a drink and sit in the lovely decking overlooking the beach. Sign read must go to bar, amd when attempting to enter the empty bar area was told no as have a dog, no problem just need to order drink ill.sit outside, but NO. So j asked how can I order as two staff standing with nobody waiting on a quiet Wednesday afternoon? Hunch shoulders and said no as if you're a solo traveller with a pet no option. Asked do you have a menu with a QR code ...and a no again. Attitude appalling , no option to assist and all time arguing could have served me at door and passed card machine for payment. Made me feel very awkward and I was shocked at the lack of helpfulness to overcome my situation as i respected that some institutions don't welcome dogs but lowestoft trade and businesses need to be part of a generation of choices not restrictions and bias attitudes.

We often visit the restaurant and I have to say a huge thank you to Jane behind the bar. As we have special dietry requirements she always goes above and beyond to cater for us. The food is lovely and staff are always polite.

Rooms so extreme small noisy and uncomfortable that even with earplugs you can hear your neighbours going to the toilet or shower. Not worth having Best Western on it. Most horrible hotel in it's class. Friendly staff but can't make up for the rest.

We did NOT stay in accomodation at the Hatfield, but we did visit a number of times during our stay in Lowestoft, including twice for meals. The meals we had were tasty and really good value for money. The cost of drinks (less than £10 for two pints) wasn't extortionate when you consider this is a reasonable sized hotel. This hotel is situated on the Esplanade which means you get a view of the sea whilst dining/drinking and the toilets were very clean and accessible. The staff who we interacted with, were very friendly and helpful - thanks to Ryan and his team for their service. If we get to Lowestoft again, we'll certainly re-visit The Hatfield Hotel.

Location is perfect. Stayed here 3 years ago and liked it so much decided to return. If you have any kind of mobility issues don't stay here. There are so many steps between each level. Unless you have a room near the lift it's impossible. Breakfast not good. Reconstituted orange drink, not juice, hot drinks from machine disgusting. Long queues for drinks machine and toaster. No choice in what you have in your full English. Tea pots dirty. Daytime meals vary in quality and quantity. Staff are courteous and helpful.

Masie and her crew were fabulous nothing was too much trouble. The food was good and we were in a lovely room where the children could play without causing problems to other people. The family had a great time the rooms were good and breakfast lovely

The carvery was absolutely delicious , for £12.95 it was amazing. You could help yourself to as much or as little as you want. Great choice of vegetables, all cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely too.

Was a great experience overall, clean , modern room, great shower and good size, comfy bed . There was a problem with my room light, however Jade at the main reception desk was very helpful and friendly as she helped me change my room with an upgrade for the inconvenience. Thanks a lot Jade and and the hotel for making it a pleasant stay

Called in for a coffee. Also wanted to try the scones which had been recommended. It was 11.15 and advised “scones have all gone”. So drank our coffee at about 11:40 we were leaving and noticed a whole stand full of scones. It would have been nice to be told they would be having more scones when we tried to order them.

I stayed at this Hotel over the Christmas period. My room had been recently refurbished and had a great sea view. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I found there were a very good selection of food choices at breakfast and other meal times. There was also a car park for Hotel Guests which was very useful.

Went for lunch with the family and had food that left us feeling depressed. New menu is very limited but still charges premium prices. Service was pretty poor, food was bland and limp. Food at The Hatfield is not what it once was and we shall be adding it to the “no” list.

Went for an Xmas Lunch with fellow caravan owners from North Denes, meal paid for by Tingdene, and what a pleasant meal it was. The usual Xmas turkey with all the trimmings, plus other meals for those not wanting turkey. Staters, main meal and pud all were presented very well by the very efficient staff, plenty of it too. Well done Jayne for organising and well done to the staff at the Hatfield.

A group of us friends had a precooked Christmas meal on the 8th December we were disappointed we had beef some had turkey all we got was the meat dried up roast potatoes 1 Yorkshire pudding and no vegetables and the bar service was atrocious there was 27 of us that won't be going again

I recently had a surprise birthday party here. Scott was absolutely amazing with helping my daughter to arrange this for me, the function room was just perfect and the buffet was delicious, the service was 5 star. It was a perfect amazing night, my guests said what a lovely place to have a function. I can not thank Scott and his staff enough for helping to make my birthday so special.

I chose the Hatfield Hotel because I was at a party their, I'm glad I did because the reception we received from staff when we arrived was very welcoming and friendly we were checked in within moments, we were asked if we wanted breakfast as it wasn't on the booking, the staff were thorough and wanted to make our stay pleasant. I highly recommend staying here if your ever in Lowestoft.

We have stayed here a few times and the staff are so friendly and welcoming that's why we return. The rooms are very tired now and do need attention Breakfast was lovely as always. Location is great and look forward to returning,if we do not stay at the hotel due to the deteriorating rooms we will call in for breakfast and a drink to see the staff

Called in here today for coffee's but upon waiting in line at the bar to order our coffee's, when it came to my turn to order the woman serving turned to a female customer next to me and asked for her order but the women said its this man's turn before me the woman behind the bar just totally blanked me and told the female customer " I will serve you & someone else can serve him" but the other server just totally ignored me & made no attempt to serve me, in the end I thought how ignorant these two female members of staff are, totally disgraceful attitudes, so in the end we gave up & walked out and went else where ! These two women obviously need some retraining in customer services & in manners, they were not young girls, either they were both old enough to know better!

We went here for lunch during the week, having travelled by train from Ipswich. There was a good choice of menu and we both had the Hunters chicken, with chips which were excellent, best we have ever had. Really enjoyed our meal and the service was very good, as we were advised there was a bit of a wait but we were not worried about that. Nice view of the seafront too.

We rang last minute to book a table for a roast. Friendly response and booked a table . Arrived early but was seated by friendly staff. Ordered roast beef, delicious. Had dessert apple crumble again very nice. Reasonable price. Can't wait to go back.

Had a fantastic breakfast with a great view sheltered from the wind. Enjoyed it so much that we came back for a cup of tea later in the day. The breakfast was very tasty and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

We visited the Hatfield Hotel today for afternoon tea. An absolute pleasure.. The food was all made in house and absolutely perfect, staff were very attentive and professional. We met the very lovely front of house and the head chef and were made to feel very special. Thanks again guys lovely experience all round, I would 100% recommend to anyone. We will definitely be back again. Love the new improvements keep up the great work

I went to a wedding reception in June.the parking sign said permit holders or hotel customers.they tried to fine me total crap.signs misleading.attended a wedding reception there sign say permit holder or hotel customers.I said on way ok I on car park lady said on reception that's fine.the money spent in there then they try catch u with a ticket.apparently I should of put the reg into thing at reception.I been in hotel nothing to do with them. I sent email to hotel in nothing ,I sent 1 to ceo of best western who owns it nothing.so so wrong on all levels I tried all sorts but no reply. So car park company still After me for the fine.and no one's stepped in here to cancel it.I really can't believe.I stayed off here but this needs to be said now.

The staff are really friendly, only one miserable one at breakfast but, otherwise all absolutely lovely and helpful and the rooms very cleanand spotless. Great breakfast too. Lovely sea view and great for a beach walk, close to cinema.

My husband and I have just spent three nights here. Last time we stayed here must have been nearly 30 years ago and I swear the carpet in the corridors is still the same! We had a standard room which was clean and well appointed. Had a few drinks in the bar and was pleasantly surprised to find the drink prices reasonable. Spent two nights though freezing as the radiators weren't on in our room. We did complain both nights - were told that the cold weather had 'taken them by surprise', that the heating in the hotel was on, that they had no spare heaters but we could have an extra duvet and that 'it may take a while for the heating to come on in your room but it will and then you'll be throwing off the duvet because you'll be too hot'. It never did come on and, after receiving complaints from others, they finally realised that there was a problem with the heating on the second floor. On our last night we were offered a different room but were told that, in this room, the radiator in the bedroom wasn't working either, but the bathroom one was. We moved as it was still significantly warmer than our old room and it had a nice sea view. We were also offered a complimentary breakfast. Decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. We had fish and chips and scampi and chips. But, to be honest, we've had exactly the same quality meals in Spoons for less money and we'd have got a pint with it. The tartare sauce was very nice though. Went for our complementary breakfast the next morning. Gave our room number and were seated and given menus. The waitress returned to take our order and pointed out that we were 'room only'. We explained that the night manager had given us a free breakfast because of a problem we'd had. She went off, then returned to say (not at all subtly in a busy breakfast room!) that there was no note on the system to say our breakfast was complimentary and she quizzed about which manager we had spoken to. Really could've done with out that to be honest. But the breakfast was very nice, but only lukewarm. Sausage and black pudding particularly tasty and plenty of hot tea in the pot we were given.

I've visited the hotel a couple of times now (for the restaurant) and on each occasions the service was excellent, the food was very tasty, cooked exactly how we wanted it and was great value for money. Both times I was served by Daisy. She has a wonderful energy and was very welcoming, applying the right amount of customer care to make our dinning experience very enjoyable.

I had easily the worst Carvery in my 72 years at this hotel on Sunday 18.9.22. The vegetables were overcooked to death and were soggy. The three small (very hard) roast potatoes tasted awful. The Yorkshire Pudding was also badly overcooked and partly burnt. The gravy and turkey tasted ok. Yes, I should have sent the meal back but did not want the hassle or stress. To add insult to injury I never got a reply to my email directly to the hotel. Very poor customer care, Very poor food and very poor value. We won't be going back.

Rated 3 star by Best Western , probably about right for the room we had which although a bit tired was clean and airy., The staff however were certainly not 3 star, they were cheerful friendly helpful and attentive a credit to the hotel , 5star service. Food and selection of drinks at the bar was very good and competitively priced , particularly the Sunday roast and the Terrace ham salad. Breakfast was included in our deal ,this also was plentiful and of very good quality . Parking for the hotel is somewhat limited especially during the Sunday roast hours . Taking everything into account we will definitely be staying here again .

Myself and my mum stumbled across the hotel whilst out and about walking and booked for dinner, our hosts Jen and Kayleigh were extremely professional, attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing and we really enjoyed our time, would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

There was a lovely view of the sea from our table. The staff were all very friendly and attentive to all of our needs. The food was all very nice and was served promptly. This was our first visit to the Hatfield Hotel having been past it several times whilst walking along the seafront.

A Best Western Sea front hotel, walking distance from town, train station, restaurant and out door terrace with umbrellas and sea view, kind, friendly helpful staff in all departments, good food, able to accommodate food intolerances/allergies. Comfortable rooms, recently redecorated. Some organised entertainment, 80's night and jazz festival. Stayed several times, just had a week there, looking forward to our next visit already,

I was so overly happy with out meal and service it was perfect. We were greeted with big smiles and humor and it made us feel really comfortable. Daisy and kayligh were very nice and polite making sure we had the best experience possible and i truly hope they can see this because i want them to know how amazing they were.

We loved this hotel - perfect location - clean Lovely staff. Loved the room opposite the seafront-big and oh the beds were so comfy. Loved the excellent service at breakfast along with a nice breakfast.

Friendly and helpful lady on reception so check in and check out was good. Room was ok, maybe a bit tired in places but clean and tidy. No aircon and a muggy night so I had to open the windows but the smell of the kitchen extractors made it a bit unpleasant until the kitchen closed. Bed was ok but I didn't get on with the pillows - personal taste but they were too firm for me (bring your own if you like soft ones). Nice view of the sea at breakfast and the full English was ok. Overall a serviceable experience but more like an £80 a night hotel than the +£100 that I paid.

The staff at the hotel are great and very efficient, that's the only good thing I can say! Upon arrival we checked in and was given a room in the lodge over the road. The everything was so dated, the bath panel rotten, stains on the carpets! dirty walls and skirting board, rusty electric heater. We had a flood in the bathroom after a shower, reported this and the staff member came over straight away and moved us to a different room. The new room was much the same slightly better bathroom but again the carpets where stained and very outdated. Restaurant and bar, we was served and headed to take a table, the carpets and upholstery was disgusting, stained greasy, tables sticky, can't comment on the food because of the area it didn't feel clean enough to eat there so went elsewhere. We only stayed one night and we would have moved if we had to stay longer. Would I recommend No, would I go again No

We stayed here for two night and for the money it was good value with a fantastic sea view. However the overall experience can best be described as below average. The room was clean and acceptable but the seats in the bar were tired and greasy, and the carpet by some of the tables was also greasy and worn enough to put one off eating. Whilst the bar was empty the two staff behind it ignored me for a good few minutes while chatting to themselves. Another member of staff appeared and in an indifferent manner asked me what I wanted. As my beer was poured she joined the other staff in conversation, the subject of which was dissatisfaction with their jobs (a common theme as I later discovered). I took my beer and sat in the window of the bar in the cleanest seat I could find. The beer was warm and flat. Needless to say we drank elsewhere for the rest of our visit. Later waiting for the lift we overheard staff in reception moaning about their job and one boasting about her new job with .‘better pay and less hours‘. Overall good value and a great sea view, but let down by indifferent staff and disgusting chairs an carpets. I won't be returning.

We had a 2 night stay from 27th august - 29th august. Stayed in a family room - great size, clean, sea view, comfy, great shower, downside part of the ceiling has obviously been wet at some point and had not been repaired. However we did see inside a single room and they are very very tiny Restaurant looks lovely however awful experience - we ordered the steak night which is 2 steaks fries and wine or cocktail - I asked for both steaks medium rare, after about 45 minutes our food finally came, waiter asked who ordered the well done steak to which we responded none of us, but he proceeded to put it on the table - my partner told him to take it back as it was very well done and to replace - few minutes place same waiter came back with what I believed to be a new steak - after waiter left partner realised it was the same steak but just flipped over - sent steak back to then be told no steak left - so I requested a burger instead - burger came quickly but unfortunately this was also very clearly burnt - so sent back again and told them not to bother - they did however give a refund for the steak meals and put breakfast on the room for us for the next day. Breakfast the next morning was no better, waited half hour for 2 full English, which wasn't very nice. The continental side which you help yourself too had a few picies of fruit but nothing else on offer, also no clean glasses for drinks. Staff where pleasant, car park opposite hotel, houses next To car park looked very rough (windows broken etc) which made me nervous about leaving car in public car park but had no issues. Hotel good location for days out, beautiful sea front.

Went here for lunch on the bank holiday, sat on the lower veranda as had our dog with us. There were no burgers available despite being on the menu and it was only 1230 so not as if they had run out today. I had a granary sandwich with tuna which was £7.50, hardly any tuna and the bread was going stale…..I ordered sweet potato fries too which were undercooked. Not impressed.

We went with friends and had a lovely meal. We all decided to have the Steak meal deal. Steak was lovely cooked to perfection. Fries were lovely fresh and crispy House Wine included was a lovely fruity Rose that we chose. The staff were friendly and attentive. Such a lovely setting for a meal or even just a drink and a chill. Would highly recommend.

Lovely afternoon tea with fabulous service (Scott and his team). The complementary glass of prosecco was so appreciated. Can't beat that view over the sea either. An enjoyable experience and will be back.

Before booking, i spoke to a lady via email with a few questions.. she said she would pencil us in and contact me in a week to get the deposits. I emailed a further 3 times when I hadn't heard from her but never got a reply. I ended up phoning them to find out she had never pencilled it in but luckily there was space so I paid the deposit then. A week or so later I phoned up to pay some of the bill, which was easily done. Then when I phoned up to pay the rest of the bill, she tried to charge me the full amount including what I had already paid. Fortunately I had worked out what I'd paid and what I owed before the phonecall so I corrected her and she was silent for a minute before saying "oh yeah, I see you've paid some already". So already the experience wasn't great, but this is where my mum wanted her hen do. On the day, i received a phonecall saying there had been a problem because the library had been double booked so they would section off a corner of the restaurant for us, we hadn't even booked the library so I was doubting the day even more because of another organisation issue. We got to Hatfield at 12:40 and ordered drinks at the bar. We went to wait outside for our table and was told we'd be collected once the table was ready. The afternoon tea was booked for 1pm. At 1:05 we went to see where the table was. I had requested a view of the sea (it is called 'afternoon tea by the sea' after all but we couldn't see it at all. Nobody came to help us we had to just look around for it. The tabled were split into one long one and a second shorter one. We requested it to be moved into a T shape so we didn't feel so split up. We were sat waiting for the afternoon tea to arrive for 40 minutes. When it did finally arrive, disappointing is an understatement. The cake selection - 2x tiny triangles of brownie, 2x tiny squares of lemon cake, 2x tiny squares of coffee cake and 2x tiny squares of some sticky undercooked tasting cake which we couldn't even figure out what it was. The sandwiches - parts of them were dry, we ended up with some fingers cut very wonky and one sandwich was actually a triangle. The fillings could've been better. The scones were the best bit, they were really nice but a couple of them were overcooked and browner than they should've been. We were given 3x bottles of prosecco dotted around the table between the 12 people who ordered prosecco. No more was given out. When I looked at the Instagram to see if they showed any of the afternoon tea, I saw a picture which looked lovely so we were expecting it to look like that. With whole selections of cakes/pastries, not the poxy little things we were given. My daughter decided there was nothing she would eat from there so I went to buy some chips - £3.50 for a tiny portion and she said they tasted weird. When they came out, I had to get up and ask for a fork and condiments as there was none given. After the tea we sat outside for another drink. The wedding side had already left so 2 of our group went to sit in the shade for a few minutes. A member of staff came out and I overheard him say to another "I'll go kick them out" in a certain tone but when he went over to them he was over the top nice. Overall we paid £293 for all of us and we left feeling very underwhelmed and disappointed. So, I would definitely NOT recommend going to the Hatfield for afternoon tea. It is far too expensive for the quality and service you receive. It was supposed to be the highlight of my mum's hen do as something she hadn't done before but it was not at all. I have already emailed Hatfield saying this but I am not expecting them to respond, since they never did the other times.

We stayed for a few days, myself and 11 year old son. Big selling points (other than it being a good deal booking direct), free parking, free wifi, and location - right opposite the beach. Our family room was huge with a sea view, but so so hot. There was a fan available, but like all hotels seem to be, the corridors and room were like a sauna compared to the cool in the reception and restaurant areas. I did worry about being above the restaurant and bar, but needn't have worried. Yes we could hear talking from there, but not too late, and there was no loud music. Our room had a wobbly toilet seat, and we found rubbish left under the desk that hadn't been found by the cleaners. The shower was really good, easy to get the temperature we wanted and powerful. Breakfast was disappointing - cthe ontinental part was fine, and the local sausages were really tasty. But the scrambled eggs were too salty to eat, and poached egg yolk was cooked through solid rather than soft and runny We also ate in the restaurant one night. Disappointing again. The halloumi burger was ok, but my son's burger was burnt and inedible. The staff were friendly, and the location makes this hotel worth staying at. But I'd stick with continental breakfast, and eat dinner elsewhere.

Rm 102, sea view, large room, powerful shower, bed a little firm (personal opinion). Breakfast first day disappointing, in terms of delay and quality, first effort sent back! 2nd day breakfast totally different experience (different staff). Staff apologetic, helpful, hotel clean, could do with a little spruce up. Arrived 10pm places in the car park on a Friday night. Good base on the sea front to explore the town.

Service - 3/5. Alright, the person at the reception wasn't great, stuck-on smile and "Get the customer away, don't do anything" attitude. The lady who served breakfast was nice, though. Room - 1/5. How hard is it to have a bloody working air conditioning? It's very hot. Also, sockets were all in the wrong place. (Extra note: Behind my bed there was a sharp corner in the wall, which i banged my head on when i leaned back :<) Breakfast - 4/5. Good! A little underequipped, but again the lady who served breakfast was very nice, They had marmite and everything we needed :) One thing, though, hot breakfast took somewhere between 30-45 minutes to arrive. Location - 5/5! Lovely beach :) State - 2/5. I think this place used to be grand, but it has seen better days. Also, i couldn't connect to the wifi at all.

Been here a few times now as a resident & just as a restaurant visitor. Food is great, decent portions & really good quality. Prices are good too. You can sit inside or out on the decking area with amazing seaviews. Highly recommend this place. Parking is available opposite the hotel too.

We arrived at midday, took a while to get park as car park full. Receptionist pretty unhelpful and grumpy. Didn't explain the door would be locked at 10.30! This hotel is very tired, I know they are doing a refurb but even so, it feels dirty. Room was ok but the worst quilts ever. Arrived back after our night out at 11.30 to be locked out, kept ringing the bell, eventually had to ring, and it almost seemed like we were an inconvenience to the member of staff by the time we were eventually let in. Breakfast was ok, and there was one friendly nice helpful member of staff. But I certainly wouldn't rush back here, I'd look elsewhere

We used to visit with family often, however I believe the staff have changed and now the service is terrible. We waited 30 minutes for a lunch, only to then be told there was no ham and chips on the kids menu. We changed our order, all meals arrived apart from the kids meal. If you have small children you know how frustrating this is! We asked about the meal and finally got it 10 minutes later. Of course it was too hot to eat. Many serving staff were just hanging around. So, so disappointed.

previously had nice meals, meals out are a treat and I look forward to a quality meal based on previous experience, however tonight my main meal was disappointing, my dessert transpired to be insulting. i ordered battered fish and chips, £12.00, peas are extra at £1.20 whilst I sat under a picture advertising the whole meal for £12.00, but that wasn't the disappointment. i had a handful of chips served under the fish. I did make my disappointment known. My dessert, Lemon Tart, £5.75 was ordered with a scoop of ice cream £1.50 was insulting, my scoop of ice cream was no bigger in size than half a pingpong ball. the fact that my other guests had the same and the scoop of ice cream was visible inconsistent on each plate and no bigger than a ping pong ball. I returned my dessert. I understand that prices have gone up, i understand that cuts have to be made but i was truly disappointed that I felt I had not received value for my money or enjoyed my evening, I struggle understand the false economy adopted by the hotel, for the sake of a few pence saved in each meal. My group also found the service offered was below par, exacerbated by the food.

Stayed 3 night B & B at The Hatfield. First impression is not good - no signage telling you where you are and small car park (20 cars) opposite does not fill you with confidence. To be fair, we did always manage to park, but in high season could be a problem. inside the hotel, the decor is tired and somewhat dated. We had room 108 on the 1st floor with optional Sea View. Our room was so small that we were unable to sit on chairs with a table to see the sea! Breakfast room furnishings was better with main course to order. Food was somewhat dried out - bacon frazzled and poached eggs like boiled. The final morning we went earlier and the food was better. Good view of Lowestoft beach which was clean and cared for and there are plenty of boats to watch. At £130 per night, I could not say it was good value for money.

Good place to stay right on the sea front with easier walking on the esplanade for those less able. Friendly, helpful staff, comfy beds, good food and sea views, even a car park which is unusual these days!

Very nice stay and friendly staff. Rooms need modernisation, loud air-con unit outside my window kept me awake. Also meant I couldn't open the window to air the room which was hot and stuffy. Very small shower.

We stayed in room 108 Saturday the 11th to Monday the 13th of June. Our check was quick and easy, the gentleman on reception was very polite and efficient. Our room was very nice, very spacious, entry of storage, comfy bed and a nice bathroom. The view of the beach was first class. The breakfast was ok. The bar service was very friendly and efficient. The hotel is perfectly situated on the sea front with really nice walks on the coastal path which has lovely views. We did have one issue which was Sunday evening at 10pm to 11pm, the hotel staff were all sat together under the big sun parasol, I assume they had no customers they were very noisy and loudly using obscene language. This kept is awake and was not very professional. If it had been customer noise I would not mention it , but the hotel staff should not be doing that. Otherwise a lovely stay.

We spent 3 nights at the Hatfield, nice location and with its own terraces facing the sea and beach.# Good sized double room which was clean and tidy complete with bath and shower. Nice friendly staff always happy to help and advise. Breakfast was plentiful with the hot breakfast being cooked to order and good quality. Particularly of note was the sausages being gluten free and the availability of gluten free bread so my wife (who has Coeliac disorder) was able to enjoy the same as me. Good restaurant with reasonable prices and good food.

I've just spent three days here and I can't recommend it highly enough. As an older person travelling alone, you often become invisible in restaurants and bars but not here. The staff were professional and friendly and all seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. The food was excellent and the terrace looking out over the sea just magical. Already looking forward to the next time and huge thanks to everyone working there.

Expensive for adequate facilities. Music playing constantly, which we could hear in our room. Not even live, which would have been louder. Food was acceptable, but not outstanding. For what we paid, below the standard we were expecting from Best Western

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. Lovely staff. Clean rooms, great breakfast and location. You took our last minute booking for a table of 15 in the restaurant after we were let down by another restaurant. There were some hiccups but it was all dealt with quickly and professionally. Because of covid I'd not seen my family for 2 years and what a fantastic night we had such fun so thankyou. Shout outs have to go to Nia, shelley maisy and Peter who all looked after us so well. My final shout out goes to Robbie the night duty manager who is an absolute credit to your hotel i cannot thank Robbie enough for helping my mum. Can't wait to come back so we will see you soon. Great hotel, beautifully decorated communal areas, rooms are fantastic & great layout, all with free WiFi. Staff are super friendly & helpful, cannot do enough for you. Food is amazing. Sea views cannot be beaten. Would highly recommend & will be revisiting.

We stayed here mainly for its location and knowing the standard would be good. It was lovely, sea view was terrific and the facilities were all we needed. As with older hotels there was some noise of doors closing late at night but once asleep we had a great night. Breakfast was a combination of buffet continental and served full English so well worth having.

My children took me to the Hotel Hatfield for a belated Mother's Day meal and I am so pleased that they did! The hotel is in a pleasant seafront location and we were given a table overlooking the beach. A young lady came to take our drinks order while we decided what to eat and the drinks were served quickly. We ordered 2 x fish and chips, a burger with a side of onion rings and a sausage, mash and gravy in a Yorkshire pudding. The food was well presented, hot and fresh, as well as incredibly tasty. The only food that was left, was because the portion size was so generous. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the white chocolate cheesecake for dessert and it was so beautifully presented that it was almost a shame to eat it but eat it they did! A special mention must go to Peter, who served us all evening. He was friendly, cheerful and efficient, we couldn't have asked for more. The restaurant and bar was fairly busy and the atmosphere was pleasant. All in all we had a lovely evening and will definitely go again soon! 10/10 highly recommended.

First visit to Best Western The Hotel Hatfield . in Lowestoft.. No ramp out front if your carrying a heavy suitcase. Check in was all good. Very pleased with room as was unexpected to be given a seaview double.. Breakfast was well presented - help yourself to cold items and drinks- hot food order taken b y staff at your table.. Very warm in corridors to your rooms. Nice sized tv in room. fish and chip dinner we had one evening was very good. Drinks in bar area was very pleasant, along with the outdoor seating area.. A very pleasant stay.. along with pleasant staff.

Very enjoyable stay. Handy patrons carpark opposite main entrance. Welcoming and helpful staff on reception and throughout hotel. Room clean and nice size. We had a sea view and would recommend , as you're close to the sea and if you like the sound of waves breaking on the shore. Had one evening meal of fish and chips, great, and breakfast good, especially eggs benedict. Would stay again.

My partner and I stayed in the Elizabeth suite, the room and bathroom was very spacious and clean. The only issues we has was that the room was far too hot and we were unable to turn the radiators off so had to have all the windows open all night to try to cool the room down, the main light in the room didn't work and there were no glasses or plastic cups in the bathroom as there usually is in all the other hotels that we have stayed in. We ate in the restaurant, the food was ok but not great, I had sausage and mash with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables, the potato tasted like powdered potatoes and the vegetables obviously hadn't been washed properly as they were gritty, it put me off eating it so I didn't finish it.

Stayed at this hotel for husband's birthday for 2 nights in a front sea view room location was very good sea vie excellent sunrise was stunning. The rooms were of a good modern standard the only thing was the bed should have been king size heat in room with radiator off and window open was very warm but the plus size of window open you could hear the waves. The food was excellent and all staff were very polite and helpful. Would recommend this hotel and will be returning. Thank you for our stay. X

Came here on a rainy afternoon for afternoon tea! We'd pre booked and paid our £10 deposit. The sandwiches were nice and there were a good variety-the white bread was a little stale so that was our biggest area of improvement! Also, be aware that the only choice of tea was English breakfast. However, there was such an array of sweet treats we had to take some away! The view out to sea is delightful and we hope to return in the future! The service was very attentive and we didn't feel rushed at all!

Extremely happy all round, great staff, very friendly and welcoming. Excellent food and drinks, bedroom cozy with a good size and very comfortable bed, nice and quiet. No complaints from me so highly recommended. Perfect, central location to everything you may need, just check in and relax, you won't be disappointed. Visited the bar of this Establishment after a long walk on the promenade for coffee and scones and greeted by an assistant named Becky wow what a pleasant lady and to cap it all we had scones ond drinks but the scones were the best we have had and made on site so to the lady who gets up early hours to make and bake thank-you we have had scones from all over and they were the best 5 stars all round. Thankyou

Stopped for tea and cake. The gentleman serving us was fiddling with a nose ring. Had his fingers up his nose, playing with it while we was ordering. Disgusting! Put us of ordering cakes! The hot drinks were okay. Definitely won't be going back!!

Ate in Bar restaurant. EXCELLENT. The best meal out for ages. Not the same old, same old as most other, restricted menu's at other venues. I had the Hotdog & chips, superb, as were the Cajan Chicken with sweet potato fries had by 3 other diners. Staff very friendly and helpful. Price good too

Stayed at the Hatfield for Christmas, 2 nights and Christmas Lunch in LT1. The room was good, comfortable and warm. Window noisy as it was windy outside and the wind was blowing through a gap that needs resealing and caused a whistling sound. Opening on the lock and closing the curtains with the radiator on kept the room warm enough and cut out the whistle sound. The Christmas day meal in LT1 at 3pm was very enjoyable with great food and of a good quality, especially enjoyed the sorbet. Arrival times maybe better staggered as it was very hectic at 3pm and especially getting a drink at the bar before sitting down at the table. Overall really enjoyed and would do again

In October 2021 I booked a four night stay at the Hatfield. In early December I called Best Western to cancel the reservation. Best Western told me to call the Hatfield directly, which I did. The young lady who answered the phone was clearly flustered but said she would cancel the reservation. That did not happen. After receiving an email after I failed to check in as originally booked, I called the Hatfield and ended up in a ridiculous argument with the manager, who refused to refund for the unused nights. The Hatfield is a sleepy old hotel that is clearly not capable of functioning at an international standard. I have stayed there many times in the past when visiting family in Lowestoft. Never again.

I have been to the Hatfield twice this week with friends on both occasions we it very friendly excellent food and service also plenty of food it is clean and tidy and we felt covid safe and nothing is to much trouble

We stayed at the Hotel Hatfield for one night in the Elizabeth Suite - a nicely appointed room, overlooking the promenade and sea. The room was spacious, with a large bed, sofa, TV and the usual bits and pieces. The room includes a sizable bathroom, with large bath and separate shower. We enjoyed afternoon drinks in the bar and the the staff were friendly and welcoming, so we returned in the evening for a meal. The food was satisfactory, but nothing special. Our main observation was that all staff seemed to disappear at 9pm, leaving one person to take care of the guests and we were unable to order a 'nightcap', as it "wasn't on the system", despite it sitting on the shelf behind him! To be honest, I could have easily walked behind the bar and helped myself later, as nobody was in attendance. The breakfast crew were friendly and attentive and the breakfast was hot and delicious. All in all, a pleasant stay, but a piece of the puzzle was clearly missing.

Had a Sunday carvery and it was lovely the I had a piece of all the meats and they wer all delicious plus lots of veg to choose from and we're all hot and fresh to eat all covered with a great gravy and server was very helpful, Veg was regularly changed to keep nice and fresh

We had walked by the hotel several times during out stay in Lowestoft. It's terrace overlooks the beach and sea. We decided to stop one chilly afternoon for coffee, but then saw scones, jam and cream with a pot of tea on the menu - £11 for the two of us. It was very good. We sat under the huge sunshades on the terrace, which also have overhead heaters - so all round very good.

We first visited the hotel in June for drinks while walking along the sea front. We asked a member of staff about rooms and a few minutes the manager came out to tell us all about the hotel, the rooms and the food and drink! We were so impressed with their enthusiasm that we decided to book a room in September. The room we had was spacious and nicely decorated. The room overlooked the sea and it was delightful to have the window open overnight and be able to hear the sea. The hotel has a large excellent terrace overlooking the beach, and our breakfasts were cooked to order and of excellent quality. There was a 24 hour bar and we had the impression that the staff couldn't do enough to help- nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for two nights and I think this hotel was one of our greatest finds in recent months. If you find yourself visiting Lowestoft (and you should, because it has some unique things of interest!) I would heartily recommend staying at the Hatfield.

The staff are friendly and the terrace is great. BUT They have an associate firm called Civil Enforcement, who two months after my stay sent a parking fine for £170, which is totally spurious as I entered my car details into the hotel system. This is a firm of sharks, check them out. So if you stay, don't use the car park.

I've stayed here several times for work, it was nice to stay as a leisure traveller for once . Hotel is in a great location opening onto the promenade and the beach. If the weather is fine you can sit outside on the terrace to eat and drink. Staff very friendly, food (particular breakfasts) very nice. This is an old hotel beside the sea so it looks a bit scruffy from the outside And the floorboards Creek, but they have gone to a lot of effort to make the rooms smart and comfortable. Look forward to returning soon

We stayed three times during September and October 2021. Each time we booked a sea view room and have to say the view was great and we had a fantastic sunrise. The rooms are clean and comfortable and on each occasion we had a recently refurbished room. Facilities in room were as expected with tea and coffee making facilities and bathrooms had plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very nice and filling and the restaurant and bar served good food and drink with plenty of options. Outside decking seating area is perfect on a nice day overlooking the sea. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and happy to assist whenever they can, never saw a member of staff who wasn't. We will definitely be staying again.

We have used the Hatfield Hotel on previous family occasions, and we would have had our little celebration a year or so ago but, like many, we were confounded by Covid & Lock down etc; we booked a function room (The Library) for a Family celebration / get together which we could use fgor the whole day, from the outset we were looked after by brilliant staff who helped our celebration be so enjoyable, service,food and the professional manner in which the staff conducted themselves was very impressive, all were friendly, helpful, polite and very efficient, we are so fortunate to have such a nice friendly comfortable Hotel, we will be using the Hatfield again, I would recommend this Hotel and encourage you to consider using it for your function or stay.

We stayed at room 102 with the sea view. The room was very nice, airy and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was big and clean too with nice water pressure. The staff were all dead nice. Faster wifi and bigger bath towel would have made it a 10 out of 10.

I can only review from my own experience and so fully understand that there may be some rooms that are not yet refurbished as mine was. My Mum and I had room 110. This may not be suitable for people who struggle to get in and out of the bath, but the decor is lovely, the beds comfortable (although take your pillow protector of it you like a softer feel to your pillow) The Sea View is wonderful from this room, we slept with the window open and listened to the waves, very relaxing. The Staff are wonderful, with a special mention to Claire on reception who smiled her way through 12 hour days, always so friendly and advising us on where to visit. Also Danny, the Assistant Manager, also incredibly good at his job, a great personality and very helpful. We were lucky enough to have good weather and sat on the beer terrace every morning for breakfast. Plenty of choice available. The decor in the bar area, restaurant and library is vibrant and stylish, with a great choice of colour. I loved this hotel! The only slight negative is the car park opposite. I nearly got blocked in because of people parking along the middle. But plenty of free parking on the road. Places to visit - The Sparrow's Nest, a lovely restaurant and cafe with fabulous wooded grounds to relax and walk round. Only 4 miles away. Wroxham, a trip on the Broads Gorleston, a beautiful beach and places to eat with outside terraces. Pakefield, a lovely beach and walks. Beach Huts and Pubs MarkG restaurant And more!

Hotel was tired carpets threadbare in corridors etc, room was basic, but lovely sea view (this was the best thing) situated right on the beachfront. Bed was small but linen & towels very clean, very nice breakfast & terrace was lovely overlooking the sea

The staff deserve a better review as they were very pleasant and helpful. The main hotel, that we saw, was also pleasant. Nice bar and terrace overlooking the prom and sea. We were only visiting for two nights and luckily only used the room to sleep in. We booked through a HotelGift voucher given to us as a present. This is why we think we were fobbed off with a room in the Lodge, opposite the hotel by the car park. Room L4. If you get offered it turn down. It obviously hasn't been properly cleaned in months maybe years. We did let them know as we left but I don't think they were too bothered. We will see.

I booked a spontaneous night away and the place was satisfactory. It's an old hotel and could do with some general interior work. The room had a smell of residue cigarette smoke and bathroom needed a spruce up, but it's 30 seconds away from the sea and felt safe and secure.

We ate here with friends and their children. We hadn't booked but they opened "The Library" for our party of 4 adults and 4 children. Wish I'd asked the name of the lovely man who served us, pleasant banter passed between us all evening. Everyone found something they liked from the menu and silence descended as we began eating. A telltale sign that the food is excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about our last evening out before heading homeward. If we had of eaten there on the first night we would have returned several times. Thank you for a great memory.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Lovely location, terrace and comfortable clean hotel badly let down by unclear, disorganised and frustrating breakfast and dinner service. Seriously understaffed especially at breakfast with a lack of communication between staff or with guests .Each morning we waited at least 20 minutes without anyone coming near or even acknowledging us. We had to call someone to our table(sometimes twice)and were made to feel that we were an annoyance rather than a guest. Eg One morning after waiting 20 minutes for any acknowledgement we caught the passing waitress' attention to ask for a menu; she continued walking and called back at us 'I'm busy serving the resident guests'(I pointed out that I was also one) The staff are under such pressure that their responses are rushed and impolite. No clear system for ordering -waiter service or at the bar? We usually ordered wine etc at bar( quicker than waiting for a waiter) and were given drinks straight away. But one evening payment for drinks was taken and then I was told to wait at the other end of the bar in a queue for the 2 drinks ordered.(!?) While waiting in the queue another guest walked up to the bar and was served their drink. Frustrating! On the final evening were informed as we ordered drinks that there was a half hour wait for food(always at least this long so no surprise or concern)We looked at the menu for 5 minutes and by the time we got to the bar to order food were told they were no longer taking food orders that evening! Fortunately we came across a professional ,helpful and obviously very experienced waiter Danny, who sorted this out for us and obviously wants the guests to have a happy experience. Thank goodness. This hotel needs better management, more staff at breakfast and better staff training. We also overheard a Reception staff conversation about a guest wanting a sea view room and the response of the colleague was 'If they want a sea view they can go outside'. Think that sums up the guest experience! Won't be returning.

Thought we would pop in for a carvery on a Sunday. Arrived at 3.10pm as we thought the main rush would be over which was evident due to lack of people inside and out. Tried to order food but was told no food orders were being taken due to an earlier rush!!! Unbelievable considering holiday season and you would think after being in lockdown business's would want every penny. My only assumption is very poor management of the operation.

Visited the restaurant a couple of times during a holiday in the area. The outside terrace offers great views of the seafront and the lower part is dog friendly. Whole restaurant area is well presented and mainly offers ‘chip shop' style menu. Fish and chips are delicious, particularly the chips and the quality for the price was exceptional. Children's menu - 2 large sized courses and a drink for £6.50 really good value too. Service at the bar was a little chaotic and the staff could do a better job of clearing plates outside more regularly - seagulls took great delight swooping around and feeding on the scraps.

Firstly the bed. I slept on the douvet so as not to feel the springs. Wife needs to be covered so had to suffer. Bad start. Dusty room (not filthy), not cleaned properly whilst staying there, dodgy flush on toilet, shower door did not close properly during showering. Lights outside window in Lodge building meaning light streamed in at night. If you have such strong lights all night, then better curtains required. Some other small gripes I won't bore you with. All together just a bit Meh! Positives the staff were all very nice. Location was nice on the beach albeit Lowestoft is certainly not a salubrious Town! I sound like a snob. I really am not. I come from Dartford ;o). If this was an Ofsted inspection I would rate it 'Requires Improvement'

Stopped for lunch on the terrace. The weather was a little unpredictable but the team made all the effort to allow us to sit outside. Danny and his team clearly work really hard at being exactly that, a team. Smiles, laughs and fantastic fish and chips (haddock) was our experience. Highly recommend this spot for lunch on your travels.

Liked: Nice location on the seafront (and terrace to make the most of it), friendly staff, decent sized-rooms, surprisingly good food Disliked: Service in the bar tended to be slow and chaotic. Had an issue with one of the loos randomly leaking in the middle of the night. Room and corridor decor could do with some TLC.

Loved the area and the children's menu and the sea view made us choose this to eat on our last day at their LT1 Fish and Chips restaurant. Food was great (Prawns, Calamari, Sweet Potato Chips, Onion rings) and children's menu was great with colouring. Only slightly issue was service was quite slow but it was a sunny day and busy. Would love to return!

This hotel is on the front in the beach area of Lowestoft with a promenade between it and the sea. I was lucky to have a sea facing room and the only noise during the night was the lapping of the sea - perfect. A nice room and pleasant staff. There is also a large sea-facing bar and restaurant area within the hotel including a large outside deck area. Recommended.

Lovely hotel, nice & clean rooms with sea views, food very good, staff excellent & friendly, shelly in lounge/restaurant went out of her way to see if everything was ok with service provided by all staff/food & drinks

We have stayed many times at this hotel and have always been pleased but this time we were very disappointed with the cleanliness and service at certain times of the day. 80% of dust is dead skin cells so I don't like the idea of sleeping in a room with thick dust on the bedside cabinets and skirting boards

We had our wedding at the Hatfield on Friday 9th July. Shelley was absolutely amazing from the day we booked until the event finished. Despite the many changes due to covid, she always took it in her stride and we couldn't have asked for any better day or service. The food was also brilliant - From the afternoon tea, to the evening buffet and to our full English in the morning. Leanne, our bar staff for the evening was also absolutely fantastic, so friendly and really helped our night go smoothly. We couldn't have asked for a better day or evening. Our room (the Elizabeth suite) was also absolutely beautiful, clean and had a beautiful view over the seaside. All of our guests had the most fantastic time, as did we. We had not booked in advance but turned up at the Hatfield Hotel and managed to get a double en-suite room. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable good size en-suite and plenty of hot water. The shower was that powerful it was a struggle to keep the shower curtain in the bath. The room view was disappointing but that is a problem of last minute booking although we could keep an eye on our van in the car park. Due to the excellent weather we opted for breakfast on the veranda, it was just like being overseas sat looking out over the sea. Due to a wedding party the breakfast service was a little slow with two breakfasts coming out every five minutes but at least the weather mde up for that.

The room was recently refurbed with a clean, modern uncluttered feel. Staff efficient and welcoming. Included breakfast was fine - food cooked to order and served quickly. I've read the other reviews and wouldn't have known it was the same place. Would definitely return if in the area again

Stopped for a evening drink and was told to sit down and someone would take or order . We sat for 10mins watching the staff chatting and trying to catch their eye .No-one came over so we got up and left , don't think they noticed .. After not being open for so long you would think the staff would be on the ball .

just a short walk from our hotel we came across the terrace bar and stopped for a drink very warm welcome from the staff very clean over looking the sea lovely place to sit and have a drink and people watch

Have been several times for a drink in the afternoon or early evening. Service is absolutely shocking and saw at least £150 of potential takings just walk out. Took over half an hour to get service and drinks delivered to table and there was only 2 of us. Was given a very poor excuse of "staffing issues" and that "due to covid, over 400,000 hospitality jobs had gone. Sorry.........but just a poor excuse. I fully realise that there were many staff under the age of 18 that were unable to serve or take money for alcohol, but the waiting on tables was appalling. After running a bar abroad for four years, the main fault I can see is is the organisation of waiting on tables. The area I sat at had nobody coming to ask if anyone wanted a drink and a table of 6 left after waiting for 20 minutes even though they asked the manager if they could place a drinks order. Staff aimlessly wandering around with drinks with NO clue who they are for. We had the manager come up and was about to try and charge us for drinks that the previous people had ordered and then left before the drinks even got delivered. Put me in charge for a week and I would soon improve on customer service. After all, I couldnt be any worse than the current situation. Definitely won't be returning any time soon and would NOT recommend to anyone.

PROS - location (right on the seafront) - friendly staff CONS - terrible customer service Some details about our customer experience, based on a two-room family staff (suite + standard twin room) - Evening meal in the restaurant: We booked a table in the restaurant for 7pm, and arrived promptly. After being seated, we were not asked for our drink order (let alone food) until shortly after 7:40pm. Understandably, the restaurant was busy (which is great!) though we noticed there were guests being seated after us, who had their order taken and food served to them before we'd ordered. Capturing the attention of staff to ask them to take our order was actually impossible, despite our best efforts! After a four-hour drive to reach Lowestoft, we were tired and hungry and didn't appreciate having to wait so long, particularly given the fact we had a reservation. Furthermore, a somewhat undesirable smell of fish permeated the hotel throughout our stay - not the smell of fresh fish, unfortunately. - Breakfast Day 1: it took 15 minutes to be served on this occasion. I ordered scrambled egg and mushrooms on toast (which arrived on two separate plates - toast on one, egg & mushrooms on another) and my mother ordered toast (which never arrived, despite a reminder to the waiting staff). - Drinks outside: following the instructions celloptaed onto the windows, we duly took a seat outside and waited to be served as it is ‘table service only' at this time (no problem!) We commented amongst ourselves how the staff all seem to be occupied, but not getting much done (which may be a naive observation, however….) after sitting there for 65 minutes we were finally served (we had previously attracted the attention of one member of staff, who said they would be over shortly, but never arrived). At this time, a new member of staff we hadn't seen before came over - whom we presumed to be a manager, as she wasn't wearing a uniform, to ask how things were. We told her our experience and she went away to ensure our order promptly arrived, which it did. However, there was no apology or explanation given, which was poor. Whilst we enjoyed our drinks in the fading sunshine, we witnessed two other tables complain to about waiting over 40 minutes, which weren't dealt with particularly well: although that is not our complaint to make, it didn't make for a comfortable atmosphere, which you would expect in a hotel. - Breakfast Day 2: the service was prompt and much more friendly on our second morning; exactly what you expect as a guest (I believe our server's name was Jo? - she was brilliant!) No complaints on the service, although we noticed that the breakfast cereal we were served was a few weeks out of date… not good! - Amenities in room: generally speaking, the rooms were comfortable and great. However, the twin room was only given one set of towels on both nights - frustratingly, my mother and aunt didn't tell me this until we were driving home, otherwise I would have contacted reception. A mistake is easy to make, but for a twin room (with twin occupancy) to be given a single set of towels two nights in a row is very poor… I'm unsure quite how my mum and her sister coped! The main light and a couple of the lamps in the suite were broken. I alerted a young male member of staff on reception of this on our first night: he diligently came to the room to try and replace the bulbs, though this was evidently not the issue. He was very friendly and said that it must be a problem with the wiring - that was the last we heard of the issue: the lights remained out of action for the rest of our trip.

Stayed three nights with friends, we had three rooms. The hotel is in a old building, that's right on the sea front. Rooms are clean and tidy, and not a bad size. There is a nice outside terrace, and inside bar and restaurant. Breakfast is very good, not a big choice but good quality. Staff friendly and helpful, we did not eat in. Have read some reviews which were not very good, but I disagree. I will use again, there is also free parking opposite hotel.

More like a hostel than a hotel. Having asked for a quiet room I was given room 101, adjacent to a lift shaft and at the front face of the hotel next to the intermittent air compressor that kept kicking in overnight. Having dropped my luggage in the 1980s hotel room I decided to open the window at the side of the bed only to be confronted by bird carcasses and faeces. That left me feeling grubby so I decided to jump in the shower; shower curtain didn't fit within the tray, grout was mouldy and I counted four different colours of badly smeared silicon sealant. Quite possibly one of the worst rooms I've endured. I've scored it a two just because the breakfast was good and the waitress was spot on. Checking out - I wasn't asked if everything was ok with my stay, if I had I might have told them about the bird bones! In a few weeks time I need to return to Lowestoft….I'll stay elsewhere thanks.

Room was nice and clean and the location was good, car park across the road which was handy.....but....the bed was very creaky and the mattress was the worst id ever slept on ... you could feel every spring. The hotel was generally very noisy at night too...you could hear every movement from the room above us plus lots of noise in the corridors even at 3am...neither of us had a decent nights sleep unfortunately. Fire alarm sounded on Saturday evening so we left our room and headed out of be car park to the fire assembly point only to be told to go straight back in..no explanation...had someone set of the fire alarm as a mistake? Was it a fire routine fire drill? (No guest checklist was made or called out to check everyone was out of the building) so it couldn't of been ? Unfortunately we wouldn't stay here again purely because of noise and lack of sleep which is a shame as the location is great and the room was spotlessly clean

If we could give this “hotel” 0 stars we would The last time we stayed here our room was so dreadful we were given a voucher for a complimentary night. Naively we though this stay might have been an improvement. The first room we were given had a bucket under leaks coming from the roof and the rhythmical drip of constant water hitting the bucket. Both taps ran hot. The second room we were offered was identical apart from its number. Now we are in the bridal suite that, at least, doesn't have a bucket. The delightful night Porter has given us bottled water as there is no cold running water in the building. The 3 day women who checked us in must have known this but obviously didn't care. In COVID times when rooms should be sanitised, there are small biscuits under the coffee table and cleanliness barely passes muster. Robbie, the night porter is the only asset this hotel has to offer. Thank goodness we are only here for one night. The place should be closed.

Hotel is situated on the Esplanade in Lowestoft with some rooms having a sea view. The rooms are comfortable & there is a lift to all floors although on each floor there are steps between the lift & the rooms. The Hotel has its own car park. The food on the Restaurant is excellent & I enjoyed both Breakfast & Evening Meals during my stay. The staff are friendly & helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Since my review was deleted on booking site I will re-write it on here.. location of hotel was nice, lovely sea views, good sized car park, could not fault the food in the restaurant although service could have been better but understandable through these times. We found the room quite unclean, there was a lot of dust all over the lampshades, radiators, bathroom etc. The bathroom radiator could not be turned off so was far too hot, we had to keep the bathroom door closed in order to make the room a bit cooler and keep the window wide open (which then meant lots of noise as expected from outside). There were holes that had been filled in the walls and not sanded or re-painted just splodges of filler everywhere (as shown in photos). Bed was very creaky although when you stayed completed still and managed to fall asleep it was fairly comfortable. We booked 2 nights but unfortunately 1 night was enough for us, we tried to get a refund for the second night due to the heat and bed in the room but it was an instant no. Sadly won't be returning which is a shame as location was great and food was good.

Hi, I've been to the Hatfield twice now, both times for afternoon tea. The 1st time was excellent & couldn't wait to go back, unfortunately we've been back and it was really quite average. Our sandwiches had obviously been made prior to us coming & were hard, we had one very small scone each, & the other cakes were all squashed. The tea pots were all dull, not been shined up, when I ate the sausage rolls and pickle, this was ok but they'd only given us one small plate, not another one for my sweet stuff. The first time we went, the lady came and asked us what sandwiches we wanted as my husband doesn't eat eggs and neither of us eat salmon, then went and made them fresh, very helpful lady. As I said this time they were made beforehand, salmon, yuk, egg!& coronation chicken which we don't like. What a waste. For the price we won't revisit, really gone downhill.

Good food nice restaurant....however my table was really sticky and needed a clean....the bed is extremely uncomfortable( writing this at 5am)...couldnt get a full night's sleep as it is a very hard, old and noisy bed. The room smells of Mould and could do with a fan...like premiere inn & travelodge.

We stayed here for a couple of nights, a little break. Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly & accommodating. Hotel very clean and covid organised and aware. Meals in the restaurant were superb and reasonably priced

I have stayed here a handful of times over the past 4 years, both in the hotel and in the lodges..... Long story short, not a patch on the Victoria, worse than the Premier Inn. Truly awful place, good job it's only ona nightly basis I have stayed.

This is an old hotel which has been modernised to a good standard. The location is excellent as it it on the promenade near to the harbour. The staff are very helpful, friendly and efficient. During our stay the Covid-19 guidelines changed and the hotel responded very promptly with increased safety measures. The room was fairly small but adequate as a short-stay base to explore the area. It was extremely clean. The restaurant was operating a restricted menu but it was varied enough to provide enough choice for 3 consecutive nights. The food was very good, especially the breakfasts. For a longer stay, it is worth paying for an upgraded room with a sea view as they seemed to be larger and would certainly be quieter.

The hotel is very well situated relatively near the town, harbour and restaurants such as The Harbour Inn and Iconic. Reception staff very helpful. The decor was excellent throughout, presumably due to the recent refurb. We booked a sea view room (206) which was a reasonable size. Our sea view was through a window which was less than one metre wide. As the hotel looks to be 4 buildings merged together, the rooms have differing sizes of windows. The full English breakfast was fine.

Nice setting on the seafront. Staff were a little inattentive, had previously called to book but was told it was seating on a first come first served basis. On arrival we waited at the 'wait here' station and no staff came to offer a table, until another customer gave their table. The meal itself was lovely thoroughly enjoyed it had steak and prawns and the portion was very large and a lovely piece of steak. The service was slow though.

I stay here for 2 nights the room was clean and tidy but it was near the kitchen so had the noise from the fan from early in the the till late at night. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out off there way for you. The breakfast is not the best but it was hot and there coffee were lovely. The bar has been done up well and the staff are always cleaning the tables I would stay again

Nice location right on the promenade overlooking the beach, good portions of food. A scaled down menu due to COVID restrictions but enough choice. Not a fast service but an ordinary place for a weeknight meal out.

This hotel is situated on a prominent position on Lowestoft's sea front close to the shopping area and station. We received a friendly welcome on arrival and had a very nice spacious and quiet room with a perfect seaview. The dinner menu on the web site looks attractive. Due to the Covid pandemic, a restricted menu was in place which was very limited: the only potatoes on it were french fries or chips or sweet potatoes fries with no availability of fresh vegetables. On the second night, the starter and main course were served together. The tables at breakfast were very sticky as if, although wiped and sanitised, they had not been washed following drink spillages. Breakfast service was good and friendly but no fresh fruit was available. Boiler breakdowns happen but such events require an honest, although unwelcome, response to questions. This was not forthcoming. On our third night the water was cold. When we tried to ring the reception, the advertised number did not exist (the receptionist subsequently gave us a different number). Initially we were led to believe that the thermostat had tripped and would be reset so that hot water would be available in about 20 minutes. Two hours later, it was still cold and we were then told the boiler had broken down and would be fixed in the morning. The following morning, a note stating the boiler had broken down was the case was pushed under the door. Another couple in a room nearby had complained earlier in the morning and received the response we initially had the night before! Overall, despite the boiler breakdown, we enjoyed a pleasant stay.

This hotel is in a fantastic location opposite a lovely sandy beach. The reception staff are very efficient and friendly indeed all the staff are friendly, polite and efficient . Our room 206 was brilliant the bed was comfy, the roo..was spacious and had a great view. We had fish and chips in.the hotel restaurant and they were piping hot and toasted good standard. Thankyou for a fabulous weekend break. We highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return

We are staying in Lowestoft for the week, and The restaurant was right on the beach near our stay. We sat outside, beautiful view. Great food and good atmosphere. Lovely dinner to end our first day in Lowestoft

We stayed here the weekend before the bank holiday. Room 108 has a lovely sea view from the bedroom and the bathroom. Hotel was clean although dated and worn in places, like the carpet on 1st floor landing. Breakfast was nothing special, just standard breakfasts that is served to the table. The only problem we had was car parking. The carpark for the hotel is opposite, but only once in our 3 night stay could we find a space in it. My husband has a blue badge, but was no use on the road outside, luckily the two nights that we couldnt get in hotel carpark, someone left a space and we drove into them. Otherwise it would have been a long walk for him.

We as a family went in thinking it looked really nice from outside .... but soon as we walked in it had dirty Floors with rubbish , the stairs and white doors need a good clean Going down to the toilets .. just needs freshening up everywhere..cigarette butts in the flowerpots. Light broken. ( spider had made a home in it) Tables not cleaned after people leaving which we saw three times happen which at the moment it should be top priority. The waiters came out cleared tables but never came back to wipe them and then people sitting down at the tables completely oblivious to the fact the tables have not been wiped. Our food came out( after some time) Which was good my husband and son had fish and chips which they said was really good. Just would have been nicer feeling like it was clean and tidy. Also didn't see where to leave our Covid tracker telephone number It was not mentioned at the bar .Nobody was wearing masks serving us. Such a shame as it looks like the nicest place along the seafront.

On arriving at the hotel to have breakfast which is advertised on a board along the seafront we took our seats decided what we would all have to eat.I then proceeded to the queue to order at 10.20 reaching my turn at 10.35 only to be told they were no longer serving food it clearly says on the advertising board 7.30 to 11.30 no explanation given as to why we couldn't have food,needless to say we we're all very disappointed and will think twice before recommending this place for others to use.

Visited Hatfield during the eat out to help out scheme to try somewhere new.. table was booked for 8pm wasn't busy at all. Got seated quickly and drinks ordered. Starters came and my sister prawn cocktail had a hair imbedded.. spoke to waiter and he took away and bought a new one out. Main meals arrived.. hunters chicken was nice and skate was good, but chips and fries were cold and like they had been sat there for ages or double fried no taste and dry. Ordered another drink when food came which never arrived and was charged onto the bill!! No one came to ask if our meal was okay whilst we was eating and after we had finished they came to clear the plates and still wasn't asked if meal was okay which it wasn't. Very disappointed and won't be returning which is a shame as the restaurant is a lovely location. No customer service

My previous experience of the Hatfield is of a good quality modern menu. I would never enter a restaurant of this quality and order a prawn cocktail and fish and chips. But that's what I did due to the very limited menu on offer. When seeing the menu I turned to my partner and asked her are we in the right place. It wouldn't have been so bad if the food was of a good standard, but unfortunately not. Prawns arrived with a total minimal coating of Marie Rose sauce and were dry and under seasoned. The fish and chips WELL , DEFINITELY had far far from the local chippy. The chips were barely warm and although fresh cut seemed reheated the fish was tasteless and not of a size I expected given that I had ordered the larger option. I really did expect better food and a better menu to be fair I would have quality at Wetherspoons, even down to the wine glasses. NOT ALL BAD. We dined in the eat out to help out scheme, hence the Hatfield was very busy and to give credit the waiting staff were working very hard . During this time waiting staff were amazing very much on the ball and very professional. Shame About the Food, Shame About the Menu

Perfect Location, rooms very comfortable. Good bar area & outside area.the barman Matt was very friendly, catered for our needs. A big thank you to him! All staff very friendly & very busy. I feel they need more staff at breakfast as only one person at bar taking orders & preparing drinks therefore a long wait to be served.

3 star hotel and the rooms are what you would expect, small but clean and comfortable beds. But we had a sea view room and the only noise was the crashing of the waves as the Hotel is right on the Esplanade. The bar and dining areas are great, but the outdoor terrace area was amazing. Having visited couple weeks back when the sun was shining a pre-dinner drink, or breakfast, in the outdoor area whilst watching the sun over the waves....need I say more. The fish and chips in the restaurant were great and the staff were all friendly. But the waiting staff in the restaurant on the saturday night were amazing, and even tho they were rushed off their feet they were so attentive and helpful. All this and well sorted for the usual covid rules. Will come back without a doubt

We had afternoon tea at The Hatfield. They asked for £10 non-refundable deposit for booking, which was happy to do. Very good service. Happy to accommodate dietary requirements by changing sandwiches. Really good selection of savory and sweet treats. Also part of the government's discount scheme. Staff happy to refill tea pot. Social distancing observered.

We had been to Lowestoft the week before and a stroll along the Promenade and seen this quite trendy /stylish bar frontage. People were sitting out the front with food and drinks and it looked very pleasant. So we decided to go. The weather was not so nice on the day which was a shame as it limited the appeal to sit outside, so we sat indoors. There was no track or trace introduced and our names were scrubbed out from a paper list on entrance so no idea what their covid process is with both locals and holidaymakers alike. We were sat to the right on entrance and i would ask not to sit here again as its the main thoroughfare to the loos. The decor of the outside and immediate bar area is gorgeous, someone had the right idea when they put it together. The Hotel towards the back is much much older in style. We ordered fish and chips which i have to say was fabulous, strange that our mushy peas came in a gravy boat but at least everything was hot and tasty. Medium cod and chips £12, peas are extra. I do have to say that i hate sachet sauces / salts but maybe this was down to covid. There are also steaks and burgers etc on the menu. I did feel they were under staffed as all we could hear was our waiter charging about being busy in heavy footwear. After we had eaten we had a stroll along the front which was very nice. We will return again and if the weather is right we will ask to sit out the front. Or we might just have drinks out the front area which is lovely. Its a very stylish bar area and stands out on the beach front for all the right reasons. There is plenty of parking nearby and its free after 6pm.

Lovely weekend get-a-way. Gorgeous, spacious sea view room, great restaurant facilities inside and out. Affordable drinks and meals to stay on site. Very clean throughout and professional, polite staff.

hi all . the afternoon tea was ok but took over 45 minutes to arrive even tho we had pre booked no tea until i asked tables need a bit more of a clean but still ok would i come back yes i would but not until for the foreseeable future until things improve i would come back again for Sunday carvery thanks anyway would not recommend afternoon tea at the hatfeild would recommend hotel Victoria

Our stay in Lowestoft Suffolk. My son, and I, drove up to Lowestoft on Tuesday the 21st of July. I had business to do there and I took my Son along for the trip. Because of it being a long day, what with the drive from Dorset and completing my business, I decided that it would be best to stay in an Hotel for the night. We stayed in the Best western Hotel Hatfield. we, actually, stayed at The lodge, which is across the road from the main Hotel. This was because we wanted a Twin room and there are none in the main Hotel. Well, I have stayed there before, in the main Hotel, but never in The Lodge, so i didn't know what to expect.But WHAT a pleasant surprise. The Room, with the two single Bed's in, was very spacious and the Bed's were very comfortable. And the Room was very clean and tidy. The bathroom was also very clean, and tidy, and the Shower was just right. after such a long journey we both had showers and dressed for our evening Meal, which was across at the main Hotel Restaurant. That's when it went a bit wrong, I'm afraid.We both had starters, a Prawn Cocktail each ,which were generous portions and VERY nice. For our main course: my Son ordered Hunters Chicken and I ordered Battered Cod. Mine was delicious, and a generous size, about the best Fish that I have had for a very long time I MUST say. And I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. But my son couldn't eat His as He was put off by how it was piled up and he didn't like the taste of it. So, he told the Waitress and She knocked it off the bill and provided Him with a drink courtesy of the Hotel and expressed Her apologies to my Son for the meal not being up to the standard that He expected. That was the ONLY blot on our stay at The Best Western Hotel Hatfield. Because everything else was superb. The Hotel has a nice Bar and ,next morning, when we had Breakfast, we were served in a very friendly manner and the Breakfast was lovely. This was the first time, since Lock down, that I have travelled anywhere, let alone to stay in an Hotel and dine in their Restaurant, but it was, generally, a very nice experience and I cant wait to go somewhere else soon.I can strongly recommend that if you are intending to travel, and stay, in Lowestoft, that you stay at The Hatfield Best Western Hotel.

Me and partner had a lovely stay at the Hatfield hotel Friday this week we stayed in the Elizabeth Suite which had a seaview looking out towards the terrace bar area the room looked like it had a real lovely makeover all the deco was matching and looks amazing everyone from the ladies on the front desk to the waitress servicing behind the bar were ever so friendly and very welcoming we enjoyed our stay there very much and would definitely be going back.

We have stayed here twice this year already, and have just booked our third stay. We have stayed in hotels all over the world - some very grand! This hotel is comfortable and top notch without being pompous or stuck up! The staff are what make it one of our favourite places. From the welcome at Reception, to the excellent bar staff and friendly breakfast staff, and the lovely housekeeping staff everyone we met was accommodating, friendly and caring. My husband is very poorly and we have quite exacting requests at times and the staff here did everything they could to help us. The location, right on a gorgeous beach is lovely, the terrace is very popular and rightly so. The menu, although a reduced one is excellent and our friends also thoroughly enjoyed their dinners on the two nights. The refurbished sea view rooms are lovely and the mattresses and bed linen very comfy. Husband is VERY fussy about mattresses but loved the room both times we have stayed. We would highly recommend this place for a comfortable, friendly and unfussy or stuffy weekend away or a holiday. We can't wait to go back in September with our grown up children.

I have travelled to many places and been to many restaurants but this takes the biscuit . We booked for an informal meal on our second night in this “ Resort “. We booked and arrived on time. Money has been clearly spent on the outside of the building facing the Beach. Inside, it is dingy and lacking in any form of character . We were asked to go inside to meet the greeter. Where was this person? We waited and waited to sit down at one of the many empty plastic tables. Eventually, a young lady said she would attend to us ASAP. She then took a payment from a customer , played about with the computer and finally walked past us to collect glasses fro an already vacated table. We were annoyed but the breaking point arrived when a male member of staff emerged and ignored us even though we stood in the middle of this unpleasant dining room. We left immediately and received so called apologies. These were obviously completely insincere bearing in mind that these two members of staff had to walk around us to collect glasses etc which was clearly more important that seating us for a pre booked table after we had stood for 10 minutes aghast. Don't go here... there is something better, surely!!!

The hotel is well situated for the beach (it opens onto the promenade) and also for the shops, a short walk across the swing bridge. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not that good but the evening meals were excellent and plentiful. There is limited space in the car park although we were able to get in. The only thing that spoilt our stay was the bed. It was very uncomfortable and resulted in a couple of restless nights. Providing that does not bother you I would definitely recommend this hotel.

After watching the tv series about them we thought we would give a Best Western hotel a try. First impressions were good with friendly staff at check in, a good COVID 19 set up and free parking just across the road Room was fine but very hot and unfortunately we had a lot of noise from people coming up and down the nearby stairs. Although annoying this was not a major issue for us - we just put our ear plugs in at night Our shower nearly overflowed when in use and I reported this twice but nothing happened - bit disappointing They were kind enough (due to COVID) to let us have breakfast delivered to our room with no additional cost - which was appreciated. However we did go down to breakfast one day to try it and there seemed little organisation in the restaurant - we were told to pick a table and wait for a menu to be brought over (should have given us the menu straight away in my opinion). But we waited a few minutes and when the menus finally arrived I asked the guy if he could wipe the table which clearly had not been cleaned. This was disappointing especially bearing in mind they should be especially thorough due to COVID. By the time he delivered our breakfast the table was still not wiped and he said he would put the plates and cups down and then go and get a cloth. I explained that it would be easier to do with no plates on the table and it did eventually get wiped In my opinion the restaurant would run much better with someone in control - directing staff and organising things. Most of the staff seemed as if they didn't really know what they were doing One particular stand out person was Sarah in reception who was efficient and very friendly - a real credit to Best Western So - overall Best Western did not win me over to the brand but I will try again in the future

We have stayed a couple of times at the Hatfield, both were excellent, with genuinely friendly staff and good food. The first visit was in the Elizabeth suite, which was very clean,comfortable,spacious and good see views. On the second stay we were in a deluxe double and although smaller than the suite, the standards of comfort and cleanliness were equally good. The reception area was welcoming,with smiling staff. The lounge bar area is spacious,with comfortable seating and also a large outdoor seating area with a great view of the sea. There was a good variety of different beers etc. and coffees. We are planning to return to the Hatfield as soon as this lockdown has been lifted!!

This was my first experience of a Great Western Hotel and I found them to be easy to contact and deal with, special requests handled professionally, staff friendly and always happy to help. Food well presented and reasonably priced, with prompt service, with a special mention for the superb afternoon tea. Well-stocked bar.

I stayed here overnight as I was attending one of their four annual 80's Party nights. I got an en-suite single room for £45. It was quite small but as I only tend to sleep and shower etc I'm not too worried about living in my room. The bedrooms have free Wi-Fi and the restaurant and bar downstairs are good too. There was over 200 people at the venue which was being DJ'd by Rob Chandler who is a Radio Norwich presenter. It was a great night and a handy place to stay if you like being in a hotel on a seafront.

Car park opposite hotel and have to enter registration at hotel. Check in smooth. Seafacing room. Unfortunately the Room was by the lift and top of staircase which resulted in hearing a lot of noise and this was a Monday night. Room large and clean. Very mean with coffee, tea supplies. Mattress very soft. Breakfast was ok, service adequate .

Visited today 1/3/20 at 1700 for drinks and dinner, decided on a carvery and can not fault , very nice ,great value,good portion size and the gentleman carver was exceptional sorry did not get his name polite professional and impressed my other half who is hard to please,but you will know by time of review ,thank you well worth a visit , what better place could you be over looking the beautiful Lowestoft beach and sea

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend for a 100th birthday family get together. Friday night was a blessing, a comfy night in a cosy comfortable room, however Saturday night after emailing ahead of my trip to request a quiet room, I was woken up by music and loudness like a disco, had I have known this would be the case I would never have stayed here. The staff, the breakfast and everything else was perfect but having my nights sleep ruined by this noise was what really put the ratings of this hotel down. If this is a quieter area I would dread to think what the non quiet areas are like. I would not recommend this hotel for Saturday night if you want to sleep. I should have done what the rest of the family did and stay somewhere else.

Just had 4 night stay. Hotel has recently been refurbished,some work still ongoing. Our seaview room was clean and well furnished. All bedding and towels spotless. The food was good quality and well cooked and the chippy restaurant excellent. Best hake I have ever had. Best of all were the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, they were All friendly, pleasant and so accommodating. A huge asset to the company. If I had to be picky I would have preferred larger towels

I was part of a group of 30 out for a Meal at the Hotel Hatfield on 22/2/2020. The food was delicious, everything was piping hot when it arrived. I recommend the Skate and Chips and Lemon Tart for dessert. Absolutely amazing, they timed our food perfectly for when we had all arrived. Emma the waitress was fantastic so helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us, she made my night very special. Thank you Emma and the Team

Staff excellent, particularly Emma, very efficient. Food was excellent, only slight disappointment was that Mussels were gone, note to restaurant team, get more in. About half full when we arrived but very busy when we finished. Highly recommend.

Went to this restaurant on 15th Feb. Must say the staff were very professional and attentive. For a Saturday evening it was quiet. We had the prawn cocktail for starters. That was so disappointing it was a lot of lettuce with a small amount if prawns with sauce on it, no tomato or cucumber served in a pie dish. 12 months ago I had the same but this was served in a glass with loads of prawns and mixed salad lovely. We had steaks which were fantastic and served with Chios pies and a tomato and had onion rings as an extra those were lovely. We followed it with Apple crumble and custard which wad also great. All in all a lovely meal except for the prawn cocktail oh and the ambience was good. Would I go again yes but would avoid the prawn cocktail.

A whole crowd of us stayed at the Hatfield Hotel for the annual Clown Gathering. I avoid hotels.. they're really not my thing.. but I can't pretend that my stay at the Hatfield was anything other than wonderful. The room was everything it should have been, with a beautiful view of the sea; the staff were friendly and welcoming and very relaxed, and dealt brilliantly with twenty or so noisy clowns at breakfast, and also in the bar in the evenings., when i'm afraid there were occasions when we made a bit of noise. But on the one occasion that a fellow guest complained about this, the staff immediately passed it on to us, and of course we turned down the noise, Breakfasts were splendid.. I'm vegetarian, and felt that I was well catered for.. otherwise I ate elsewhere, so I can't say anything else about the food, but friends who did eat in were very complimentary. We'll be back there again next year, and I for one am very happy about that. The only problem was that my friend with whom I was sharing needed a walk in shower, and had not stipulated this, and had to use the bath, which was much less convenient for him. The staff did their best to find us another room with a walk in shower, but none was available, however this was not their fault . As far as I was concerned, I was comfortable, well fed and felt very welcome and well looked after.

Went for bite to eat as we've been here a few times over last summer and not sure what's gone wrong as from the moment we got in there not good. Tables left uncleared so had to clear one ourselves. Then went to order food from bar and I could tell straight away from queues to many inexperienced young staff with no supervision by more experience staff which is never good sign. Went to order food simple enough! No as it turns out the chargrilled chicken with garlic prawns even though its on main menu doesn't appear on there computer ordering system so young girl has to ask 2 other members of staff who don't know and then the front desk manager says it will have to be added manually. So good ordered now drinks, a simple coke and cider! Again had to ask young girl to take the ice out as she had filled the glass up all with ice, I know that pubs use less coke if they do that but that was joke! That's hard not done lol, now wait for food. Then had to ask staff for knives as there were none in either cutlery section and this only 1pm and not even busy. Next manager comes over and just checks that order we placed as wife didn't want any butter on the potatoes and wanted to check it wasn't allergy or something as the prawns would be cooked in garlic butter, so that was ok. Then my food comes scampi and chips and waitress says enjoy. We then wait thinking surely wife's chicken will be brought out in next few mins as we ordered it at same time. We wait and wait and after 10 mins wife asks member of staff at bar if they can find out what's going on. Member of staff goes away and then comes back but does nothing to let us know what's going on. Finally after around 15mins of me getting my food my wife gets hers and waitress puts food down and says enjoy, no apology or nothing. So wife begins to eat and the chicken is so tuff that not really edible. I then find manager and explain what had gone on and he says do we want it recooked, I say no as the whole point was to have meal together and to be honest did want to spend further time waiting. He offers a refund for that meal and I say to him that about the staff and the problems which I hope has taken on board as we had nice meals in the summer on the terrace. The decor also needs to be addressed as in the bar area the ceiling had water marks all ceiling and bits of ceiling cracked and down

Im impressed that Best Western Hatfield is renovating their rooms, But perhaps they can check out their roof that leaks in dining rm when pouring rain! Walking into two buckets near entrance is not a good 1st impression.

Wonderful view in the morning of the sun rising over the sea. Food very good (especially the calamari). Staff friendly and welcoming. Room change handled quickly and efficiently when one was required due to roommate change at last minute.

This hotal makes you feel that you was at home and the staff are very friendly and does so much for you day and night rooms are warm and breakfast was great and so much too eat you would not go hungry

We are very local and just wanted a night away We had the Elizabeth Suite , it was amazing in size, stunning views , comfortable bed. Very clean, easy check in / out Helpful staff Tasty breakfast We are going to make it a regular thing.

I had to travel down from Yorkshire to Lowestoft for a funeral and stayed overnight at the Hatfield. It's an old building but the rooms were spotless and comfortable with all the modern facilities you would expect. I say ‘rooms' as in the single room I was initially given the lights did not work, however, once I told Sarah on reception I was immediately moved to a twin room on the second floor. The location is great, right on the seafront, although the Hatfield signs that used to be on the seafront side seems to have gone, so on a cold, wet, windy afternoon I initially walked about 100 yards past it and had to work out where it was from looking at Google images, no big deal though. Best thing about the stay was the staff, Sarah, who I mentioned before was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, the rest of the staff I spoke to were also really friendly and helpful. I would imagine that this would be an excellent place to stay in good weather and I would 100% stay again. I was going to rate 4* due to the issue with the first room but it was resolved so quickly and efficiently and the staff and location were so great I've gone for 5*.

Hadn't planned to eat here, but location sold it. Fish and chips meals for two, and battered vegetarian sausages for the non-meat eater (bravo to staff). Food served quickly, piping hot, and good sized portions. Mushy peas weren't brilliant, but everything else was perfectly acceptable. Those that had the sticky toffee pudding said it was probably the best ever!! Prices were fair.

Visited restaurant on Boxing Day as they were one of the few places offering carvery that date, alongside normal menu. Two sittings which allowed ample time at the table and pleasant personal service despite it obviously being very busy. Full marks!

Very easy hotel to deal with. We organised a carvery Sunday lunch for 18 in the Library ( booked room for our use ) to celebrate a family birthday. Food good with decent selection , even did gluten free Yorkshire puds ! Well looked after by Jamie & Becky who were confident, smiley & organised. Great value for money & a happy family event.

We had intended to go somewhere else for dinner but it was fully booked so decided to try the Hatfield and so glad we did! Had a really lovely 3 course meal which was amazing value at £10.95! We had Starters - ribs/spratts Mains - curry/carbonara Desserts - banoffee mess/bread and butter pudding ALL were lovely! Found every staff member very pleasant and we will absolutely return!

A characterful building with atmosphere. The public areas have been successfully and mostly modernised and our accommodation of preference, the Elizabeth Suite, also shows comfortable signs of recent care and update. The view from the accommodation and restaurant/bar areas is appealing especially the seaside views. The first impression on arriving at the hotel (roadside exterior) together with the entry and reception area needs to be updated as does the dismal appearance of the upstairs corridors which all give off an aura of a delapidated bygone era. Don't let this put you off as these are merely cosmetic and can be positively rectified and then this delightful "old girl" will be gratefully brought up to date and can reflect proudly alongside the already well-updated balance of public areas. The staff ALL presented themselves well with a warm and friendly disposition. We look forward to a return visit in the near future when the warmer weather can be enjoyed and compliment the stay.

The day after New Years Day. We have a young family visit us every year on this day, and before they set off home they like a walk along the prom and a bite of lunch. Nothing fancy, 2 x kids meals, 2x burger and chips and an all day breakfast. Despite us being the only group waiting for food, this took more than 40 minutes to arrive. That said , it was all freshly cooked and perfectly did what it said on the tin Nothing fancy, basic meal, cheap price, and that's what we were after. I would have given a four star had the wait not been so tiresome. But the food was ok fast food, no problem!

Good location. Free parking opposite hotel. Our room was very spacious and had a good sea view. Breakfast was excellent and well worth booking. Will definitely stay again. Would have liked to stay longer if we could have done.

7 of us for lunch restaurant not full, plenty if staff unlike last visit in August when everything was overcooked and we all had fish and chips. This time a varied order, my chicken strips on black rice and Quinoa were so hard the knife wouldn't cut them! The rice and Quinoa was lovely and the sweet potato chips. If the restaurant had been full there would have been an excuse for us having to wait 45 mins for our order to arrive. Not a wholly pleasant experience, so different to going in the evening and using the 'small plates' menu which is a winner as is the Sunday Carvery

We were directed to this hotel by a family member in the car at the time, as they had used it before. It was great, the very friendly staff served us lovely coffee and Mince Pies and their hospitality really added to the festive atmosphere of the Christmas season. Our seating was an in ideal position in the window of the longe overlooking the sea, it really could not have been bettered. Give The Hatfield Hotel a try if you are in the area, I don't think you will be disapointed.

I had an amazing stay. Room was very clean to a high standard housekeeper was lovely and friendly Breakfast was lovely with lots to offer including continental. Breakfast staff where very helpful and friendly

Excellent all round hotel which caters for every need in a prime location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Live music on Saturday which is FREE so a bonus. All of our 3 rooms had a upgrade to a sea view so another FREE bonus which impressed my friends.

I booked in on Friday everything went smoothly and the staff are totally fantastic. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The menu was varied and I had the salt and pepper squid followed by the fish and chips! Thoroughly recommended this lovely hotel.

Lovely stay at the Hatfield Hotel. Our experience was excellent from the moment we arrived,we were greeted at reception by Paris and Nicola. The check in was seamless Paris was very professional and explained everything we needed to know. And nothing was to much trouble for Nicola,offering to take our cases to our room as the lift was having some maintenance work completed. We also asked for an iron and ironing board plus a couple of wine glasses for our room,within minutes Nicola had brought the items to our room. We can't speak highly enough of the girls in reception (Nicola and Paris) as the welcome set us up nicely for our stay.

Lovely hotel with in walking distance of the train station. On the see front and our room has a see view. Nice walk along the front. Food at the hotel was of a high standard. We went out of season but would recommend you book

Excellent service and highly recommend the open sandwiches and who ever thought to put banana fritter on the deserts your a genius, visited last week as well and the mussels on the specials board are amazing highly recommend and the setting is beautiful

The fish restaurant is within the hotel, food and drinks were ordered at the bar. The staff were pleasant and quick. As for the fish and chip meal we had ,the best that we have had this year anywhere in our area.. First class.

Although Lowesoft is not one of the nicest place about,we really liked the Hotel. We had a nice clean room with a sea view. The staff are really friendly. There is also a really decent bar below with a huge selection,it's also 24 hours and the bar staff are excellent :). The hotel does have a Resturant,which the smelt lovely. There is also a KFC 2 mins walk. The town is 5-10 mins walk,with plenty of places to eat and drink. It was Lovely on our last day,a few Ciders outside the rear of the hotel bar in the Sun, All in all a Plesant experience.

The decor in the public areas and room I stayed in was poor at best. This hotel is in need of a deep clean & revamp as the furniture in the bar & restaurant is dated and the carpet in the room I stayed in was filthy & badly stained. On the positive side the staff, particularly the bar staff, were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent.

The hotel is a little tired but the rooms are clean and well equipped, and the staff are lovely. The restaurant is reasonable. There was some chaos over breakfast arrangements but they were trying a new set-up and it was only the first weekend. The terrace and bar is great with lovely sea views and the hotel is in a brilliant position right next to the sea.

I stayed here one night along with 4 business colleagues. My room was a double and had a lovely sea view. The furniture was very dated but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and very clean with toiletries provided. The towels were large and white but had been hot washed once too often ! Staff were lovely and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The whole hotel needs refurbishing - it must be the least attractive Best Western I have stayed in but it was clean and fairly quiet. I opened the window at night to listen to the sea which was very soporific. The carpets in the corridors were threadbare in places and there's also stairs up to the front door and along corridors which isn't suitable for anyone with mobility issues. I would stay again if on business in Lowestoft but wouldn't consider it as a holiday hotel.

Booked in advance. Receptionist had incorrect booking details regards my pre paid dinner, bed and breakfast. Said she would amend it but clearly had not when at breakfast l was told l would need to pay!! Room a twin, large, clean with beautiful sea view. Either net curtains need to be removed or have facility to tie them back as they obscure the view. Facilities tray basic. Shower over deep bath, grab rails would have been useful. Toiletries provided. Had carvery for dinner that was excellent. Waited over 25 mins and no one came to order sweets. Had to go to till to find someone. Once sweets were delivered we were told there would be no charge. Ha ha...we had pre paid dinner, bed and breakfast so futile gesture. Beds firm and lovely to lie in bed and we and hear sea. Breakfast good. Fresh fruit selection even had Dragon fruit. Cooked breakfast freshly cooked. Overall really enjoyed stay but staff very badly trained and service poor. If this was rectified would be lovely place to stay

Great staff dealt with all problems and were very helpful. They dealt with exceptional weather conditions. They, meaning Management, need to be trained in how to look after proper beer. IF NOT, THEN DO NOT TRY TO SELL IT.

We had a twin with sea view. The view was indeed directly onto the seafront so perfect location. There is a small car park across the road which is first come first served. Unfortunately there was a wedding at the hotel so the car park was full, there is however a public car park very nearby which is free from 6pm to 8am and you can pay via the ringo app. The hotel requires modernisation but is very clean in the public areas as well as the room but the carpet is worn and the bedroom furniture sparse and dated however expected and acceptable for a short stay. We were impressed with the breakfast, full and fresh continental and piping hot cooked breakfast. I saw a few people with alternatives which all looked good. As stated there was a wedding which was being held in the basement. We did not hear any noise from the party (we were on the 1st floor), but did hear the drunk ignorants going to their rooms in the early hours....

Stay was pleasant, room a bit small and very tiny. Food was excellent and good value for money. The staff was very pleasing and helpful. I would like the hotel to change the food menu for us like regulars... it gets a bit boring to see the same menu

We have stayed here a few times and just love it!!!!! Love the staff who are always so cheerful and will do what ever to make your stay special. We come here a lot as our family live here. Breakfast superb, room quite small but adequate. We stayed in 211 and the shower head would not stay up, apologies should have mentioned this at the time, All in all see you soon

A pleasant week at the Hatfield, delicious breakfast and all staff were helpful. Evening meal was lovely and plenty of choice. Fab location, sea front and close to town. Bed was really firm so not best night sleep.

Lovely location. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Added bonus of free parking just at the back of the hotel. Would definitely recommend and stay again when visiting Lowestoft.

Great venue after walk on promenade to sit and relax in beautiful conservatory or outside watching the sea. Bar service very slow but friendly. Lots of functions at hotel but the ambience was good. Been going here for years and its worth a visit

We booked through a.very poor site called travago....who would not let us book breakfast for 2 people just one person so on arrival in the morning we told the receptionist we need breakfast for 2 ie one booked and one extra.....me and my wife tried to explain we need to book for another person and she just couldn't understand it...the receptionist explained we needed a voucher ....but just didn't understand what we were saying

Just went here today with my other half and sister for Fish and Chips Lunch and it was appalling. In fact, I would go as far to say that it was the worse cod and chips that I have ever had. The cod was not fresh cod as advertised by frozen and totally tasteless. The chips tasted like they were fried in water instead of oil The portion size was terrible, it was the smallest piece of cod. @ £10.95 it truly was disgraceful. Defiantly do not recommend this restaurants and would not return

Terrible experience at this hotel at the weekend. Picked this hotel due to the sunrise view!! Hoping for a quiet night by the sea! this hotel does not provide this. Base levels from 80's disco and DJ voice clearly heard in our room on floor above. Unless you are prepared not to sleep until this stops at midnight I wouldn't stay here. Disturbed that this chain think this is not only ok to host events that impact on their customers quality of stay and sleep but claim they pre-warn you, if this is stated at all it does not specify the degree of the noise level. Received a small reduction but this wa still over-priced for a mediocre small double with a broken window. Bar looks nice but beware the flat beer!! very disappointing!! would not recommend at weekends - check where your room is when you go and check the quality of the room!

The 80s night was actually very good would go again but don't understand why they charge £8 each on the door that's very expensive £5 if buy early tickets. If they had a normal local DJ it could easily be free no need to pay out all that for a radio DJ . Any DJ could play those songs !! The bar prices a bit pricey as well plus a very flat pint of Budweiser bar maid Stacey was excellent server brilliant and very friendly.. the dance floor was dangerous to be honest glass all over the floor and beer spilt everywhere was surprised I didn't see any one fall over . The door man was a bit wired As we entered the building made everyone feel uncomfortable didn't even go away after we paid just acting like we shouldn't be there and suspicious of us kept following us around very strange . And finished at 12 way to early after charging to much to get in . Was good night but should be free in my opinion plus you would fill that place and make more on drinks at the bar . Just made me want to spend less money at the bar . Also the young girl who was at the front door was very friendly made us feel welcome no need for the bouncer to just stand there glaring at us as we was paying she was doing a fantastic job !! So the event was good but should definitely be free

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed it room was clean well appointed bed comfy fan in bed room which was appreciated as it was a warm weekend.Lovely outside area over looking the sea to have a drink.we would certain stay again Some areas could do with a bit TLC but I think it is due renovations

We decided late on a Thursday night to go somewhere for 1 night. We chose this hotel as we have not visited Lowestoft before. Booking in was 3 pm but we arrived early and found the hotel with ease, parked up ( make sure you register your reg number at reception to save a big fine) spoke to reception ,left car and then explored until booking in time. Staff very friendly and informative. the room we had was a twin bed with sea view. Spacious and ideal for us. In the evening there was music in the bar which is directly beneath the room so if you are a person who likes early night then perhaps ask for a room away from the bar/music area. Evening meal was good and filling, also a good selection for breakfast. Full english, continental and cereal,

We stayed here again for our 2nd anniversary. Room was lovely and spacious. We had an awesome meal in the evening and just as awesome breakfast. To top off our stay we had the Sunday carvery which is just us nice as there full menu. Staff here can not do enough for you. Thank you to all the staff especially Emma in the restaurant who can not do enough for you

Popped in from walking along the beach for a late afternoon drink, was so nice and staff so friendly we stopped on for a meal, food and service excellent. Nice choices on menu and the place was very clean and tidy,

My parents, my children and I had a meal here while on holiday in Suffolk. We've eaten here before but I haven't yet reviewed. This is a lovely place to eat, the food is lovely, my mum said it was the best steak she'd ever had. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food! The staff are attentive, the situation on the beachfront is beautiful! Couldn't fault it! Well done to all the staff!

We went for a late lunch. After ordering our food and drinks we wait 20 mins for our drinks to arrive, we asked two waiters who appeared very lack luster. Our food arrived again a substantial time afterwards bring us the incorrect dishes. Once this was cleared up, our correct food arrived, minus 1 bowl of chips and inedible bread with the prawns, it was rock hard as if it had been heated in a microwave. The bread which accompanied the scampi had also clearly been buttered in the morning and left to stand. We also ordered San Miguel beers, but received 'beer', it definitely wasn't What we ordered, there is a distinctive taste difference. Mentioned this to the waitress; bread and butter issue, foccica was inedible and wrong bee. She couldn't care less, it was a shrug of the shoulders and walked off. On top of that, no toilet paper in the ladies toilets. Avoid at the prices they charge, go somewhere else.

We had chicken, salmon and skate dishes. Nothing spectacular but ok. The restaurant was fairly busy. But what let it down was the lack of organisation and coordination of the waiting staff. We had to ask a few times for drinks.

Shockingly poor food, awful customer service and the outside area was so filthy! Tried to complain twice but got blanked by staff wondering around. Nobody clearing tables or glasses. Food all over the floor. 1st time there this year and won't be back! What has happened!?!?!?!?

Stayed at the hotel mould everywhere room dirty stuff all on walls!! Phoned up and complained and the lady on reception said a manager has gone home I should have reported it when I checked out!! No customer service what so ever! Overly priced!!

Find an alternative hotel. The only positive is the location due to the sea views. That's when you could see them through the filthy windows. The rooms are small and dated. The bathroom was a disgrace with more mould than blue cheese!

I was booked in on Saturday 3 August for one of your Sparking Afternoon Teas. It was awful. The sandwiches were lukewarm and dried up. The scone was borderline stale and rock hard, the clotted cream that went with it was also sloppy and lukewarm. When our waiter came to check everything was fine, I told him the above, and invited him to actually feel the dry sandwiches, as by this point my husband and I were so put off we told him we were not going to eat anything else for fear of being ill. He agreed and said I can see what you mean. I told him I didn't want to make a fuss, and he replied he would feed this information back to the kitchen. And that was the last we saw of any waiting staff. We finished our pot of tea, which took about 10 minutes, and that was it, the staff had all vanished. No apology, no offer of a replacement and no glass of bubbly. As we left, we could see a vacated table on the terrace, and that it also had an abandoned afternoon tea, just like the one we had just left, I fear they were as disgusted as we were. I have e mailed to complain, but the hotel has not even the courtesy to reply. Don't waste your money here!

Often we use the Hatfield for coffee and a meal always a good time, the staff are usually nice and attentive, but on this visit we decided to use the LT1 for fish and chips we were shown to a table and had our drinks delivered then after taking our order there we sat after 1 hour I caught the waitress who took our order and suggested we had waited a long time and lots of meals had been delivered, she came back shortly and said that a ticket had gone missing and would chase up our order but if it had gone missing how did she know what we wanted? We waited another 30 minutes and nothing appeared so reluctantly we left. Make sure that your order reaches the chefs.

Carvery by the sea,should have gone to davey ,rude staff like warm food, and double the price it used to be, would rather go to McDonald's and that is saying something!!!!!!,save your money get fish and chips

Dropped in for a few drinks. Had to find someone to serve us. Chap was messing about with a coffee machine and didn't even make eye contact. Tables needed clearing. Every surface needed a wipe. Poor show.

This hotel is in a great location, right on the seafront and only a short walk to the town center but it needs some tlc. We had the most basic of rooms and whilst it was clean and reasonably comfortable it was a little worn out. Rooms at the back of the hotel do suffer from the smell of cooking which did not upset us but could be very irritating. It is also a little noisy at night due to its location

Although we have stayed in the Hatfield Hotel,before moving to Oulton, we hadn't eaten the new LT1 until recently. What a treat. Skate & Chips, with a gherkin for me, washed down with a bottle of Pinot. Salmon for my Husband, with an alcohol free lager, EXCELLENT! I hardly ever have a desert, but the Deep fried Banana, with ice cream tempted even me, which we shared. The staff were very friendly & efficient. It was a very warm day, but too windy to sit outside. We sat near the door way, lovely breeze coming in. Will definately return.

Amazing aftertoon on the terrace with afternoon tea for my daughters birthday. Well looked after and ended up having cocktails and dinner. Beautiful food, nothing to much trouble. Amazing staff and service. 5 star rating xxxx

Just had a fabulous afternoon tea at the Hotel Hatfield with two friends and the food, ambience and attention to detail was beyond compare. Emma, our waitress, was very attentive and sensitive to our needs while two of us waited for our third friend to join us, even seating us in a cooler area on the hottest day of the year! Good quality food aplenty and lashings of tea for me! Shall definitely be returning and would recommend to all! Emma, you were a star!

Just visiting for the weekend and didn't want the usual Beefeater brekkie so ventured into town and found this place. Full English breakfast was really good, great quality and hot. Was cheaper than Beefeater too. Sun was out so sat outside with an amazing sea view. We enjoyed it so much that we returned later in the day for an early dinner. Fish and chips were good. Staff were very polite and the restaurant can get very busy when sun is out but plenty of tables and didn't slow service at all. The only criticism would be the plates need to be cleared quicker. Seagulls are massive and when the table is empty they swoop in for leftovers. Glasses were knocked on the floor and the gulls make a mess. I appreciate its difficult to keep on top of but we saw plates left for a good 20 minutes. Would still revisit though.

Restaurants got a new menu !! Really good selection, well done chef Manager seems on the ball (steven) Great all round. This area seems on the up thanks to young inspirational management realizing the hidden gem South beach /kirkley has .we will return x .

On our first visit we had a lovely meal despite the vegetables arriving 10 minutes after the main course. For our 2nd visit we booked a table but were told on arrival that there would be at least an hours wait for food. My husband had the fish and chips which he enjoyed. I ordered steak which was listed as gluten free on the menu. When it arrived it was covered in what looked like a pile of batter strips (possibly onion in batter). I asked the waitress what it was and she took it back to the kitchen. She returned and said “sorry they brought you the wrong meal, there's no gluten in this one”. I'd nearly finished eating when I spotted the strip of batter still on the plate. The staff didn't deny that this was the same meal with the batter scraped off. I tried to explain how serious it was to list a meal as gluten free when it wasn't. The waiter said he'd ask the chef to review the menu. I don't like making a fuss so just paid the bill and left. I suffered for 3 days as even a tiny amount of gluten causes my immune system to attack and destroy the lining of my intestines. With all the publicity about the dangers of not accurately listing allergens, you would think it would be safe to eat out without being poisoned. What makes me really worried though is that they even lied about what was in my meal so as not to lose money.

Lovely place, lovely views except when located at the back right next to the kitchen and kitchen vents. Was hot so had all the windows open, only to be greeted with the smell of fat and cooking fumes. I shut the windows and stayed hot instead. there were no other rooms to move to at my convenience.

Went to the holtel Hatfield for lunch had fish and chips had to pay extra for the mushy peas !!! The burger was very nice could do with just a few more chips not quite anough I do think fish and chips should come with peas or mushy peas in with the price

The staff were first rate they worked hard to please in all sections. The food was very good with a wide range to suit most guests, the full english breakfast was first rate and talked about by the diners, thepublic and private rooms were comfortable and clean.

First the good points: This hotel is located on the sea front and with the patio and bi fold doors the downstairs is a great place to be. The food and service throughout the day is first class. The not so good points: temperature control in the rooms is difficult due to the inability to turn off the radiators in the bathrooms, While we were there the lift was out of order, we were not warned of this prior to our visit.

Popped into have a evening meal on Sunday we got in just before 8 and the restaurant was still serving until 9 so no time issue. We we seated on a table near the till but this was not an issue. The restaurant staff were clearly very busy and struggling with the number of guests. We ordered of the menu and specials board and then heard that there was a delay in getting the food out by about 40 minutes again this was not a real issue to us as we had plenty of time. What did annoy us was the restaurant staff were very load and even shouting across the dinning room to each other and also we heard lots of moans from the staff whilst doing there work. Clearly they had had a very long and hard day but this should not come across in front of house. On a more positive note the food when it did arrive was very good, good portions and very tasty. I would go back to try again as this may have been a one off.

Perfectly located on the esplanade the hotel looked recently decorated in a lovely modern style, funky, different coloured chairs made the restaurant area bright and cheery. Gorgeously views of the sea from our room - and a fabulous open view from the restaurant too Breakfast was amazing - generous portions and superb quality! The staff all work very hard - they were working in the bar when we went to bed and were there serving breakfast when we got up. Friendly and professional service

Stayed one night room clean and tidy, restaurant for dinner good choice for gluten free and meal really nice. Cooked breakfast disappointing supposedly cooked to order but clearly sitting under a heat lamp as scrambled eggs like rubber and bacon like shoe leather.

really good staff, delicious food, clean and tidy accommodation, enjoyed our stay, TV worked without a fuss, room was very clean, the staff had a sense of humour. the dinner was top notch, the breakfast a huge choice

Reception was great ,the staff working in the dining area were great ,the issues I had were in the room could not run a bath due to mixer tap not working , architrave round the side of the door all pins hanging out snag on clothing .

Went for a meal with family - service very very slow Food not bad but service let it down Nice restaurant but maybe a dress code might be appropriate(not impressed with joggers and vest tops sat at some tables !!!!) but that just my opinion and may be normal for this area !!!!! Nice hotel - could do better !!!!!!

They have just changed the menue so we thought we would try, I would say posh lol fish finger sandwich, was very yummy had homemade tarta sauce with Lettice, had banana spilt for desert omg was very yummy. Staff are friendly, wasn't busy and the new decorated resturant looks really nice.

just made their 9.00pm deadline - service a bit muddled but the "small plates" menu option was excellent and diverse. They made no attempt to hurry us along and we enjoyed coffee on the deck looking out to sea.would recommended

Another great weekend spent at this hotel and this time with a sea view. The food we had was good especially the breakfast. A couple of minor gripes was the price of the drinks and a broken lift not good if you struggle with stairs apart from that we can't wait to return ..

Stayed for anniversary as always loved visiting terrace for coffee and cake. No disappointed by room overlooking beach. Due to unexpected situation had to cut break short. I know lowerstoft has its problems but it makes no difference to this beautiful old gem of a hotel. Food great. Real beer good. Views fantastic. Staff wonderful.

Omg where do I start. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you are planning a wedding and looking for a seaside venue. Right from the first meeting they were fantastic. We arrived the night before and Steven the manager was incredibly helpful and really put us at ease as I was stressed out at this point. On the morning of the wedding they took care of everything and both Steven and Reece went way above my expectations ensuring we had everything we needed and everything was organised. We lost the CD with music on but Reece and Steven sorted it all out within minutes. Reece should be a wedding planner. He is such an amazing asset to this hotel as is Steven. We all felt like they were friends by the end of the day. I think it's very fair to say and I am sure my daughter and son in law would agree that the staff at this hotel and Steven and Reece made their wedding day more perfect then they could have imagined so a huge pat on the back and a massive thank you to you both.

Lowestoft's main redeeming feature is undoubtedly its seafront and beach. When taking a walk along the promenade on a fine day, one could almost forget the appalling traffic system, the stagnating town centre and the general economic deprivation of the area. The seafront itself is rather run down and has a slightly shabby feel to it. Strangely enough though that seems to give it a certain sort of charm. There is nothing like a brisk walk along the promenade to heighten the appetite. There are several options along the seafront where a hungry and/or thirsty walker can attempt to satisfy their cravings - one of these includes the Hotel Hatfield. When the sun is casting its radiance on Lowestoft, the Hatfield appears a tempting destination. You immediately notice the large terraced area directly facing the beach. The elevated nature of this terrace gives individuals seated there a perfect view over the much admired sand and sea. There is even a screen on the terrace to protect patrons from the crueler elements of coastal weather. Indoors, several sofas are located by the large windows. More cautious customers can sit here and admire the sea views without being exposed to the elements. On seeing all of this I hurried toward the Hatfield with great enthusiasm. At this point though events took a sinister turn. When I stepped into the Hotel from the seafront I immediately felt an uneasy atmosphere. Could this have been down to the decor. I think the intention was sophistication, but instead it has cast much of the dining area into unnatural darkness and it projects a rather soulless ambience. Still I couldn't place all of blame on the flawed interior, it was with rising trepidation that it began to dawn on me that despite it being a hotel, the restaurant/bar area is a local establishment for local people. The patrons seemed to be a slightly odd mix of pensioners and pseudo chavs. Although these two groups are strange bedfellows they seemed to be existing in harmony here and both look upon anyone else with distain. My discomfort grew, there were no actual threats of physical harm, but the message here was clear -'you are not one of us, what are you doing here'. I thought of backing out and making an escape, but it was too late, I was too far into hostile territory to retreat. I stiffened my resolve and joined the queue for food and drink by the bar. There were only two people in front of me and three staff at the bar yet the waiting time was inexplicably vast. In addition a lot the patrons have yet to master the art of queuing. Although there was a visible queue, more than one pensioner walked straight past it and placed themselves at the front of the bar area. I finally got to the head of the queue but I was concerned that my outsider status would prevent me being served. Fortunately that proved not to be the case and I was permitted to purchase a coffee and fruit scone. I noted the customer next to me brandished a loyalty card which was dutifully stamped when they received their order. No such card was offered to me, I can only conclude that not being in one of the aforementioned acceptable groups denied me this privilege. It certainly seems ironic that an establishment billing itself as a hotel can be so inhospitable to visitors. Once I had obtained my refreshments I was keen to withdraw to the relative safety of the outdoor terrace where I would be away from the angry, piercing glances of the regular customers. My luck had taken a turn for the better as one of the prime terrace tables with an excellent sea view had become available. The rest were fully occupied by regulars who would undoubtedly take a dim view to an interloper sharing their vantage point with them. My escape onto the terrace was delayed by an OAP who steadfastly ignored the push sign on the door outside and attempted to pull it open. On his ninth attempt he finally relented and reluctantly pushed the door open. As I sat myself down I took in the views of the beach and felt the suns rays upon me. My discomfort began to subside at this point. It dissipated further with the first taste of the coffee which was pleasing and the scone was fresh and palatable. Alas my relief was short lived when I noticed a pungent odour in the air. The source of this stench could be traced a nearby table where there was a plate of half eaten herring, the diner who partially consumed it appeared to be long departed. I attempted to enjoy my refreshment still, but the festering fruit of the sea nearby made this a difficult undertaking. A dark thought did pop into my head at this point - could this be a deliberate attempt to drive me out. Had I unwittingly taken a regulars much cherished seat and this form of biological warfare was being deployed in response. I decided in this case to give the Hatfield the benefit of the doubt. When I finished my scone and coffee I needed to use the bathroom facilities. This meant an intimidating walk back through the indoor area, but I fortified myself and made my way to the WCs. To reach them I had to descend a steep flight of stairs into the bowels of the building. I found this a strange place to locate the facilities given the age of many of the patrons. The toilets appears to be where the Hatfield advertises upcoming events as several flyers were in there. One particular highlight looked to be an 80s night which sounded entertaining, but on further inspection actually took place two months ago. It would seem half eaten plates of fish aren't the only items to be left around long after they should have been removed. As I made a hasty exit from the Hatfield, I couldn't help but reflect on my mixed experience there. The terrace and the window seats offer excellent views and the food and drink is certainly passable - one could even go as far as to say good. However potential visitors should be aware of whether these positives can negate the discomfort that can be experienced in this establishment. There is much to consider and the final decision is not to be taken lightly.

We booked in here as the final night after a coast to coast charity bike ride. We arrived and staff were helpful, checking us in promptly, and finding somewhere the bikes could be stored inside. The rooms were nice, clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable. The issues were 1) That we were a party of 8, who had a good meal, however, there were not enough staff on duty, those who were did their best to help, but we had ordered a round of drinks, 30 minutes later we saw them on the bar and went over and collected them ourselves. Food was also delayed because of a lack of servers, but was tasty when reecived 2) We had a room on the 1st floor, and struggled to sleep as there was loud music either from the bar, or outside, which was constant until nearly midnight. We had tried closing windows, but no difference. As you can expect, whenever you stay at a hotel, a good nights sleep is the priority, and this, along with the lack of staff, made our stay alot less enjoyable.

Head a great time here last week and Ben served us some great cocktails and had a good laugh with him made out night. Will definitely be visiting again Thanks to Ben and the staff at the Hatfield hotel. Sarah Jackie and Steve

this hotel is next door to a night club which led to fighting and people smashing up cars outside our bedroom window at 0200 hours for 45 minutes changed rooms to room 103 this room is very noisy as it above the bar

I've just spent the night of the 27th of April at the property and had a nice stay and breakfast with my wife,what we weren't expecting though was to be kept awake for over an hour by a bunch of angry and drunken youths at 2am spilling out of a nearby bar ,the language and attitude was terrible even thretening to people in the hotel,i did make a call to your reception at one point but got no reply  ,we decided to stay in our rooms and eventually saw a police car when it had all died down,while I appreciate the hotel can't do much about this I was surprised no police were called and we had to here witness to a mini riot ,your receptionists was very apologetic and I can sympathise with her, I expect she had a lot to deal with ,it spoilt what otherwise was s nice break

Have been going to the hatfield hotel for breakfast for the past 3 to 4 years for a breakfast,usually having either two sausage or bacon baps and a pot of tea,mostly costing betwee 7 and 7.50 as sometime she will have a cheese scone instead,it always busy on a morning whatever the day of the week and sometimes have a job to get a table,last Tuesday we went in and there were about 5 people and you could pick your own table,when I paid the bill it was 9.90 an increase of approx. 25% when I asked for the receipt the bap had gone from 1.90 to 3.50 needless to say we won,t be going back and maybe now see why it was empty,i think its a stupid policy to increase this amount and will lose the hotel money.

I normally stay at the Victoria when on business in Lowestoft. For a change I though I'd try the Hatfield. Huge mistake. My single room was at the rear of the building on the first floor. Room 107. The room was very warm on arrival, despite the heating not being on so I went to open the window. I was horrified. The window and window ledge were covered in pigeon excrement. This is a huge health hazard. I went to reception and demanded to be moved which I was. My second room was again a single at the rear, this time on the second floor. 209. The room was again hot. Even with the window open, it was insufficiently ventilated due to the long thin layout of the room. The bed was comfy but the room was dated and dark. Lots of mould around the shower. Awoke at 530am as the sun rose as the curtains were not long enough to cover the window. I will not be staying again and have reported the bird issue to environmental health. The Victoria is in a quieter location and offers much better quality. The staff however, were very good both on reception and in the restaurant. My evening meal was good with a broad menu for both food and drinks. It was nice to sit out on the terrace for breakfast. However the quality of the breakfast was poor. Very salty bacon. Very poor quality sausage.

Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely sea views out the front and lovely comfortable seating areas inside and out. Rooms very clean and tidy. Restaurant food lovely with plenty of choice. Also adequate parking at back of hotel with no additional costs.

Started well, very clean, good sized room, although lift was not working we only had a very short walk so all was fine. No coffee in the room had to go and ask for some, reception very apologetic and gave me as much as I needed. BUT when your room overlooks the kitchen which ours did this does not lend to a good nights sleep . Kitchen finished at 10.30 which I could live with, but I have been awake since 5.40am this morning with no prospect of getting back to sleep. I am going to be very grumpy later on today. My bed is very uncomfortable the mattress is not good, I can feel every spring. Much as I like this hotel and the location is perfect, I cannot take the risk of coming again and having the same sort of experience. Beware do not get room 117

Walls were thin no sleep. Also, my colleague was put In a room known to have a noise problem. Very poor. Staff nice but hands seemed to be tied by best western policies. Very poor hotel compared to the others available. I will not stay here again. Actually I feel sorry for the staff.

This is a very pleasant location on the sea front promonade. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is good. However I was shocked to find that our favourite snack of tea with scones has had a 39% price increase. This hotel in my experience has always offered food at very fair prices, but this increase is massive at over ten times the level of inflation. It is now a very expensive place for tea and scones.

I will do this in 2 parts for those who like "positive" and struggle with truthful negative. THE Breakfast we had for 2 mornings was very good. As were the showers. Remember that senior staff cannot be on duty all the time. The dining area is really nice as overlooks the sea. I would thank Bethany and Emma for their understanding which came sadly too late. We recently joined the rewards scheme expecting the standard to be better than "Budget hotels" (EG: Holiday Inn Expr and Travelodge). in the case of this particular BW NO, the "Budget" are vastly superior as are the beds and reception service (At Budget they will offer to take luggage for you, in our experience-but NOT here). When I booked, due to arthritis, I was told a lift to all floors was available. However, it transpired prior to our arrival that the lift hadn't been operational for a while and there was no indication as to how long it would be in that state. We were allocated a ground floor room in "The Lodge" which we were told "is a double" (infact-2 single beds pushed together and a duvet over the top, very thin and didn't cover the beds. The hotel confirmed they didn't have any spare Kingsize duvets). The curtain in this room was hanging off the rail!. The receptionist (to keep this brief) moved us to L3 - an upstairs double room and if this is what you get from BW for the extra money (from a "Budget") then it isn't worth it. A draughty room (due to sash windows) with an "iron burn" on the carpet (reported by a customer in Dec 18). The view I can only describe as WORSE than a Travelodge car park. Please think carefully before booking and speak only to the Reception Manager as she does care about customers, something We didn't find in the rest of the reception staff. This should have been so much better than my honest review. I am writing only about the "Experience". We are grateful to "Emma" for her understanding and a kind refund or "2 days". We left our 3 day visit 1 day early due to the experiences I have honestly described. I AM hopeful the next BW experience will be superior. Our view (both bedrooms) was of the KFC which was under 50 yards away and open until 11pm each evening! and this was not the experience we had expected for such a well known Brand

We visited The Hatfield for dinner one evening. For starter I had the squid and seaweed and my husband had the halloumi cheese and cous cous. For mains we had the posh fish finger sandwich and BBQ chicken melt burger. Both courses were very tasty and well presented. As my husband was driving he had the strawberry cheesecake milkshake which tasted as good as it looked and I sampled a couple of the gins, a blood orange one and a Parma violet one. The staff as always were very helpful and polite. I look forward to returning to try some more of the yummy sounding new dishes and of course some more of the gins.

The Hatfield is in a fantastic location, the bar area is well furnished and a pleasure to be in... the food is also very good and reasonably price. The coffee however is a real let down, extremely bitter, burnt tasting not at all smooth and sticks with you the entire day. Please buy some generic Lavaza beans or something Hatfield team... it can't get much worse!

Our room was on the second floor over looking the roof of the bar. With a seaview. When we returned from the Theatre there was still a band playing in the bar which was not a problem and this you would expect. The music stopped about 11.15pm. Then the noise started. Constantly until it got to 1.30am and my husband had had enough. He got dressed went down stairs and asked what was going on. The staff apologized but they had to put all the furniture back after the band had left, then they were all sitting round the table having a chat. The noise did stop. When we went to check out in the morning the receptionist asked if everything was ok, and we explained what had happened. Again she apologized and she said she would get the manager to ring us. Here we are two days later and we haven't heard a word. Why can't we get things right. Just a phone call, I think it's called customer service.

It was my daughters 16th birthday, which was obviously meant to be a special occasion. For this I decided to book at meal for all our family at the Hotel Hatfield. Unfortunately this turned out to be far from special. Service was the worst I have ever experienced, and the food was terrible. It was all just microwave meals with no thought put into presentation at all. I would not reccomend anyone eating here at all.

Having spent at the hotel for only two 2 days I had to use 4g as the wifi doesn't work in my room, plus seeing chiefs and work staff sitting around smoke near kids and having a attitude also seeing a chief every Saturday on a black honda cbf 125 wearing a chief white gear speeding and nearly running me over on the path I'm disgusted on how he drove up on the path and nearly hit me plus my husband a kitchen inspector and he say that your not ment to where chief white on the way to work as this can contaminate the food

I came up to stay whilst on an interview and everything at the hotel was great and all staff were fantastic. The receptionist couldn't be more helpful, the restaurant staff were attentive and superb (the breakfast was great too) and the cleaning staff were very friendly too. The hotel was lovely and the whole stay was a pleasure. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay.

Poor standard of hotel for a Best Western, old hotel but not quaint just weary. Paid extra for sea view but this room was not worth the money, seedy sofa, worn carpets, rubbed plastic headboard, hard bed, just dull and uninviting. Nice cooked breakfast, my eggs benedict was delicious and the staff pleasant but the sunshine showed up the poor decor again all worn and dated. Needing a full refurb and I shan't return.

Have had several meals here, plenty of choice at reasonable prices. Prime location close to South beach and easy walk from town centre. Advisable to book in advance to secure a table; friendly helpful staff.

Afternoon tea was ok but pretty basic compared to other places in and around town. The quality of the food could have been a little better in my opinion but I wouldn't say it was bad. All in all 3/5 which is not too bad.

We stumbled upon this hotel by accident, about 18 months ago when looking for somewhere to enjoy a cooked breakfast. The food was delicious and we loved the view through the glass front. Since then we have returned to stay whenever we could. Our latest stay exceeded our expectations. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Location is fantastic and venue was clean and comfortable. We love it so much we intend to marry here.

Sunday carvery was great, nice and hot and tasty, good value for the mone, probably one of the nicest i have gad had and a lovely setting with sea views, also staff very helpful and friendly, well worth a visit, no need to book

Had a lovely lunch today great weather great views thank you , only complaint is the bar staff miserable and totally ignore you rather talk than serve I gave up in the end such a shame as everything else was great

We stayed in room 208 the only faults we had was bed was really hard, the room was to room in the night so had to sleep with Dan on and window open we did report this but it appears this was not fixed also headboard was dry and flaky so often woke with piles of the headboard flaked off on the pillow or my head.

We visited last night and enjoyed the great views from the bar and decided to have an early supper - service was good overall and as the starters arrived (prawn cocktail) we were impressed with the taste / quality and presentation Then the mains arrived - Cajun Salmon and chips - Cheeseburger and chips The Cajun Salmon and the Cheeseburger were rated as very good ....... the chips however were inedible - thay tasted like they had been recooked a few times in old cooking oil - Question ? why spoil a well cooked meal with inedible chips - we complained and the response was "we are trying some new items on the menu" !! Does this mean left over and reheated chips ? We tried again to explain and we got "we value your feedback" We left the restaurant disappointed Management - suggest you take action in the kitchen on this - its lets the restaurant down badly

We came here for Christmas Day and what a lovely meal it was best food we all had for a long while , so we thought we would try a Sunday Carvery and it's was not a disappointment, everything thing nice and hot, the staff so friendly . We will be going back there again very soon and rebooking for Christmas Day , see you again soon .

Really enjoyed our second stay @Best Western in Lowestoft , just as good as the first one.Had 2lovely steak meals for tea in the bar and a cooked breakfast the next morning , the sausages in the cooked breakfast were particularly good !

I don't particularly like going out for a meal near Christmas as I find the service and food quality wanting as it is rushed and mass produced. This occasion was a (wider) family meal. 20+ people being served at once. We were very fortunate to be offered a side room - the library to accommodate us. The service was very good and friendly to the point of waiting to serve until some late comers arrived. The food - especially for a vegetarian option was extremely lacking especially when the option for vegetables is the same as a carvery - which you don't always want - some variation please. However I didn't hear anyone complain. That said for service, price and location it was a good deal.

I stayed here for 2 nights on my own to attend a family funeral so just booked a single room. The hotel was OK, breakfast was nice and could choose what I wanted. The room was small but adequate, however I was unable to sleep due to the noisy from the air conditioning units cutting in and out all night, making quite a lot of noise. In the end I had to put the TV on to drown out the noise and managed to get some sleep. But I felt pretty tired and then had a 4 hour drive home.

Checking in was not a problem, the room was quite large and clean, but even before 7pm the restaurant and bar were too booked to serve residents, something I find unreasonable, if you advertise a restaurant, you at least need to warn guests at check in if availability is limited, simply shrugging your shoulders and refusing to offer even room service is not acceptable service. Whilst the bedroom was clean and cosy, the bathroom left rather more to be desired, the shaver light didn't work, the shower head bracket was broken requiring users to hand hold the shower head to use it and the extraction fan hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, similarly the window frame sealant was heavily stained with mould, leaving the bathroom feeling neglected and dirty, which is a shame because all of the spots often overlooked in a hotel bathroom were actually very clean. A simple management check of “ready” rooms before occupation and the courtesy of pre warning that a significant facility like the restaurant was already fully booked on arrival would have made this visit far less disappointing.

Had a comfy stay at this hotel well located on the sea front staff were very welcoming and service and food was very good the only thing I can say is that the rooms need upgrading to match the modern decor in the dining & bar area they were clean and tidy but would be an excellent hotel if they were modernised it won't stop me from staying here again but would be nice if the work could be carried out.

We had a great stay, the hotel was clean, comfortable, the room overlooked the sea, nice bar and restaurant area, seating outside to enjoy a morning coffee beside the sea and staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Stayed in the Lodge room no 3 a little disappointed when we walked in we were greeted with a burn mark on the carpet made by an iron ? Hanging in the wardrobe was an old Tee Shirt ? and the furniture was very tired, old sash windows allowing drafts and noise in .A lot different from the last time we stayed in the lodge, in saying all that the receptionist did offer to move us.

On arrival there was no electricity until gone 5.30. I was informed in advance of this after booking, but with little choice of nice hotel in the area, no choice really! No compensation given for this from the original booking price, which was disappointing. The room was okay, clean and bright with 2 single beds and good hot shower! Could have done with longer curtains mind as the street lights shone under the bottom making the room bright all night! Breakfast was good and simple. Free parking in car park opposite and on street, although would imagine in summer when busy it would be difficult to park given the size of hotel and great location on the beach! Morton's the bar looks a lovely place in the summer sat overlooking the beach and sea!

Lovely hotel right on the seafront. We had a Seaview room and could here the waves lapping up the beach. Good facilities but breakfast could have been a bit better. Free car park across the road and well situated for town centre and all amenities

We stayed at the Hatfield hotel between Christmas and New Year. Our stay was chosen because it had a great location right next to the beach which is what our trip was all about. There is a beautiful walk along the beach that goes right up to a little church and a beautiful little place called the jolly Sailor where we got warm drinks before a lovely long walk back. It's a few miles in the car the Southwold where we wished to visit and so makes an excellent well priced base for all coastal trips.

Us and some friends and our children came to the New Years party here after looking for something that we could bring our children to to see the new year in. Very reasonable price for tickets considering what we got. Food for all ages, hot and cold, sweet selection too. The staff serving and in the kitchen all very happy and friendly. The food was available all night. Very good entertainment for the children, little mix tribute act were great and the children's entertainer was very good too, great DJ and singer for the adults. Drinks very reasonably priced and the bar staff all very friendly. We are so pleased we found this for NY and would definitely consider it for next year maybe even bringing more friends as it was so good for all the family.

We have just returned home after spending another New Year's Eve at the Hatfield Hotel in Lowestoft. The whole package from the tasty meal to the fantastic fireworks at midnight was perfection. We are always very impressed how they manage to serve such a large group of people with such excellent food, always dished up very hot and always with a cheerful smile. The entertainment during the evening is brilliant, the female vocalist, the DJ and the piper at midnight . It is a real treat to have a large and well sprung dance floor and this results in most guests taking full benefit and really enjoying the opportunity to dance. The New Years day brunch is also very good and we always look forward to a long walk to develop an appetite before sitting down to this. The rooms are comfortable and cosy and for a small extra cost a lovely sea view can be booked. We will look forward to returning in 2019 for another evening of enjoyment.

Thanks Hatfield for making our Christmas day lunch memorable, the staff were wonderfully helpful especially my waitresses and the food as always, consistent to what you expect from the kitchen. I see from other reviews (not sure if they were at the same Hatfield from what I read) that I may have missed Santa, don't remember seeing that advertised anywhere though! Thanks guys and will definitely be coming back in the new year.

This place served us the worst dinner/Xmas dinner I've ever had the manager is so rude and unprofessional and a liar he accuses his guests of lying rather than admit the fault he really needs a course on hospitality,we had multiple people get food poisoning and he in so many words said we was lying (message to the owner ,as a business owner myself I would sack any member of my staff that spoke to a customer the way your manager does he really needs to be more professional).

We run a holiday park and took our owners for the set Christmas lunch. The food was very tasty, I have never had a piece of turkey that tasted as lovely as this one. All well presented and arrived at the table hot. The restaurant staff could not have been more helpful, considerate or polite. They were fantastic.

Very Nice hotel on seafront good view over looking beach. Room clean and comfortable and staff helpful Didnt have the breakfast but smelt good!! Will definateley come back to this hotel in the new year.

I visited the hotel with my husband and we started off the evening with a few nibbles which is a new addition that we've not sampled before, we tried the stuffed olives and pork scratchings and spicy wasabi peas which was a bargain at £6.00 for the 3. I tried a festive cherry bakewell cocktail which was yummy, they have a great selection to choose from. for dinner I had the rump steak with Stilton sauce and sweet potato fries. The steak was cooked just as I had ordered it and the whole meal was delicious. My hubby had one of the specials which was deep fried hake and chips which looked and the mouthful that he let me try was lovely. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere about it as it was a Friday night there was lots of people about filled with festive cheer enjoying there Christmas parties. Staff as always were helpful and friendly and Would definitely return to sample some more of those yummy cocktails and a glass or two of mulled cider which did smell great.

Didn't arrive until late so after a quick wash straight down for a meal.Fancied a chicken burger so would like not to judge a restaurant on that,although it was very good. Service was very good and waited on by a helpful young lady. Room was in the lodge across the road, very modern,clean and comfortable. They very kindly let me check out late as not working until lunchtime so had a late breakfast which was outstanding, beautifully cooked and plenty of it and once again very friendly staff. The hotel is right on the seafront with parking so well worth a visit.

Room 217 - noisy ventilation/plant room/kitchen extractor unit. Avoid this room at all costs, you will be kept awake, no one will offer an apology, no manager whatsoever on duty to assist the following morning, advised room wiIl be Discounted but later advised this will not happen. guests made to feel like liars. no customer service, this was very upsetting, shame the receptionist the night before was good and helpful. would advise not to stay here if you value customer service.

Hotel is by beach, and close to a selection of shops, take-aways, pubs, resturants, cinema, etc. Also about a ten minute walk to town centre. Other similar quality hotels i looked at, were on edge of town. Nearby area is a bit run-down, with some businesses boarded up.

We visit this hotel a couple of times a year to see family and have always had a warm welcome from the staff. There is good parking facilities there for people staying at the hotel and for family when they come to visit us. Rooms are comfortable and clean and if you need anything extra the staff supply it very quickly. Food is lovely and staff are very friendly. Lovely location as well opposite the beach.

We found this to be a traditional seaside hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. We spent just the one night, but had a very tasty meal in the restaurant and were extremely well looked after during our stay.

The room was spotlessly clean unfortunately there is some sort of extractor or boiler fan runs intermittently through out the night leading to poor sleep albeit the bed was comfy . Road traffic could be heard as well. Topped by someone giving his mate a call a wake call at 0530 made this a bad night

Excellent meal and good service, the view is second to non and able to sit out in the fresh air and have coffee even with a chill in the air because of glass wind shields, staff very attentive and enjoyable visit (make sure you register your car) did have a day when received parking fine but hotel put that right for me

I was pleasantly surprised with our short stay at the Hatfield. Our room was lovely and clean and amazingly spacious. To wake in the morning and hear the waves lapping on the beach was ideal. Although the staff were experiencing technical problems with the tills during our stay they stayed calm and very helpful. The food was good and a great selection of drinks at the bar

Location of this popular Hotel/Restaurant is great with expansive views over sea. Food range is excellent and is primarily English, waiting staff attentive and cheerful. Outside decking and veranda is the place to be to soak up the suns rays. Did not stay at Hotel.

Situated on the seafront and overlooking the promenade this hotel boasts some great views (providing you are facing the right way, if not you are overlooking some rtaher run down social housing). It is quite an old fashioned hotel with creaky floorboards, thin walls (I could hear the bloke next door to me on the phone for half the evening) and quite small rooms . My bed seemed quite old and was not particularly comfortable but the shower-room had recently been upgraded. Breakfast was OK but a bit unimaginative. For a one night business stay it's fine, for a holiday I would guess it would appeal more to older people that young families. Staff very friendly which made up for any downsides

Dated room ,like walking back to 70s, very noisy from room above and next door, could hear tv,doors banging and floors creaking ,out side windows a view of kitchen with all inherent noise and smells ,air con giving high pitched wining noise every 20 mins, no plug socket around bed area to charge laptop had to sit at 1960s dresser to work and charge, entrance to toilet limited because of layout ,difficult going in and out because door could not open fully,this was my experience of room 117 and would imagine all rooms above and besides,still had nerve to charge for full room with sea view , would probably been acceptable if warned of all above complaint and charged lesser rate , YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

We have been in the bar many times. It is very clean and tidy. The staff are very good, and the food is plentiful and very week priced. Last week we were very well served by Aimee. She has attended to us in the past. Aimee is always immaculately presented. She is very welcoming, efficient and professional. This bar is in an attractive location, looking out over the sea, with plenty of seating both inside and out. When we go to Lowestoft the Hatfield Hotel is a must for us to enjoy tea with our favourite scones.

What can I say perfect setting for me and my daughter to have mummy and princess time ! Thank you so much to Karina and the team for working the princess high tea ! I would highly recommend ! Also had a visit from moana and repunzul which my daughter loved ! Thank you again

We stayed for a family wedding 27th and 28th September, the hotel was well maintained and the staff were all very friendly. I have sent an email to the hotel highlighting a few areas in the bathroom that require attention, other than that the room was nice. The best part of the hotel was the beautiful location right next to the beach.

We stayed here on the 27th, 28th and 29th of Sept this year for our wedding. We had the Gold package and we were not disappointed. Sarah (the events organiser) was with us every step of the way. All the staff from the moment you arrive to when you leave are attentive and polite. The food was amazing and great value. Nothing was too much trouble and all our guests loved the whole experience. The setting is beautiful as you overlook the sea. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed every minute of our wedding. Stayed Friday night in bridal suite. The staff were attentive at all times. Warm and friendly. Could not do enough for us. The food was lovely. And an excellent buffet in the evening. Kathy was so nice. She worked so hard all day and night to make sure everything was right. Including looking after the brides mum who was not in the best of health. But kathy got her a comfy chair and pillows too. We cant thank you enough for everything you done for us. Everything was perfect. Could not fault any part of our wedding. We had a perfect time. Even the manager took time to see us go into the ceremony room. How nice was that? Thank you to everyone involved. We had the most amazing time. Andy & Sal xx

We had lunch at the Hatfield today to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Tom our waiter was very attentive and polite . The other waitresses were friendly and welcoming too and the meal was very good. My husband had a rack of ribs and said it was the nicest he had had, and I had mushroom stroganoff which was very nice and both meals well presented. We finished off with a chocolate gateau which our daughter had ordered earlier as a surprise. It was very nice, though very rich and large. She did say she was a little disappointed though, as she had asked if they would write or pipe 'Happy Anniversary' on it, but that didn't happen. However it was lovely and the staff boxed up the remainder for us to take home . A very enjoyable lunch!

We booked a suite (room 113) which was a spacious room with great sea views. And a telescope on a tripod in the bay window. So a lovely place to relax - and we had the windows open so we could hear the lapping waves during the night. However we stayed on a Sunday & Monday night (in October) and it would probably be quite noisy in the summer, and on Friday and Saturday nights. The room was clean and the bathroom was good, bath and shower etc. worked well. The wifi was not brilliant but adequate. The car park is opposite the hotel, and is quite small, so we were pleased there was space for us. Staff were friendly throughout. Breakfast was ok, the cold buffet items were not topped up on our second morning, but cooked items were good (as were the mini pastries) and delivered promptly. Lowestoft is not well served by restaurants, and we ate in both evenings. The online menus are accurate, so decent pub food. The wine list, although short was very good. We enjoyed our stay, and would come again (midweek and in the off season) to chill out in room 113, which I think is probably the best room in the hotel. With a seasonal Best Western offer we thought our stay excellent value.

Hotel is very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights due to live music and music can be heard in rooms. This is not mentioned on the hotel website and we did not know this until we booked into the hotelVery small car park and if hotel is busy with a function there is no spaces reserved for hotel residents and car had to be parked in public car park along from the hotel.Breakfast and food is excellent and service cannot be faulted.

We have just had a couple of nights in the Hatfield. Have stayed here several times over the past 20 odd years and this is really the saddest. Staff seem like they are just not bothered. No enthusiasm or conversation, or smiles, just there to do their job and go home! No one seemed to have any pride in their jobs! Tables outside were filthy every time we went outside during our stay to find a clean table to sit at, and the staff weren't even busy!!! Our first night was unbearable. Was a wonderful warm couple of days weather wise when we stayed and our first night all the radiators in the hotel were boosting with heat, our room was almost unbearable and was actually making me feel sick it was so hot, we couldn't turn our bathroom radiator off because there was no thermostat switch. When we complained to receiption the lady we spoke to on the Wednesday evening was just complacent, and would just like to add there was no apology, we were just told that a week ago the weather was cold so with complaints of residents the heating was turned on and that they would get someone in to get it turned off tomorrow!!!!! Oh and that there was a fan in the wardrobe we could use, very thoughtful!!!!!! We were also told that not to worry because the heating would go off at 10pm, well we came back at 11pm the radiators were still blasting on full heat!!!!!! So please tell me what we were supposed to do that night! Was a very hot sleepless and uncomfortable one!!! Every time we went to the reception to speak to someone there was just a notice on the desk saying if assistance was needed to go and speak to someone at the bar, well they were busy with customers too or nowhere to be found so please tell me what we were supposed to do! Absolutely rediculious that no one has access or authority to adjust the thermostat that could make all the residents stay more comfortable Oh and why on earth would a cleaner knock very gently on the door and walk straight in on the Friday morning at 9am when were were not due to be checking out till 11am??? Not at all very impressed with this and would very much like to hear what the reason was for an invasion on our privacy!!!!! Even checking out, once again no one on reception just that notice, and such a long wait till we eventually found someone that could check us out, we weren't even asked how our stay was!!! Such a shame the Hatfield has gone so downhill :( Would very much appreciate a managerial response considering no one in a managerial role was available during our stay

We were just about dead on our feet, having flown overnight from Canada and motel rooms in this general area seemed hard to come by, but overall no regrets after stumbling onto the Hotel Hatfield. Late in the afternoon and we were given an attic room with twin beds in this maze of a hotel, everything worked although the shower recess was a bit of a squeeze. We had a light dinner and a pint in the dining room and it was fine, actually better than fine-let's say good pub grub and breakfast was really good. They have a small carpark opposite and a elevator to the upper floors but again the elevator might not actually be on the same level as your room as there seems to be ups and downs throughout what must have been a number of renovations and extensions to the hotel. The location right on the Esplanade made for a pleasant after dinner stroll. Only 3-stars from me might be a bit mean, but 4-stars might be a bit generous.

Thank you to everyone at the Hatfield hotel for a good night on Friday. The meal was served hot and with a smile. The service by the waitresses and bar staff was 1st class. Frankies Guys were really good and worth a watch if you haven't seen them. We are looking forward to the next time they are on. Thanks again.

We typically stop here for a cuppa when we go for a walk along the beach. It's very clean everywhere with modern decor. The bar and balcony area has nice views which overlook the beach. Can't really fault it.

A very condusive hotel to stay and within walking distance to the city center. I will definately recommend this hotel to friends coming to Lowestoft. A quite city with so many memories to take back home.

The staff were so attentive and did their upmost to ensure every aspect of the wedding was perfect, from the overnight stay the night before to the small details of the wedding day. Kathy, you and your team did an incredible job leaving us with a very happy bride and groom and all their guests! Thank you!

Cannot praise the staff enough. they were absolutely brilliant throughout the weekend. the location and especially having the beach on the doorstep ( literally ) made for some excellent wedding photos.. would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone..

I went to the hatfield this morning for breakfast with a friend , we arrived at 10.20 my friend went too place our order , by tje time she got to front of the line it was 10.37 . And was told we stop serving breakfast at 10.30 , my friend said i have been waiting to be seen since 10.20 . The girl said i will go and see what i can do , she came back out and said it was ok . We then waited another 40 minutes for our breakfast, i had no butter for my toast, 3 very small mushrooms and a teaspoon of baked beans . I was not impressed and i will not be going back .

An amazing day from start to finish. They staff were so helpful, no request from the wedding party was an inconvenience to the staff. The food was top quality served hot and served quickly. The food was superb. The evening buffet was excellent. We were a little worried as we had heard the buffet was not good. That is rubbish it was top quality and so plentiful. My daughters wedding day was outstanding and the day went without a hitch thanks to the wonderful staff at the Best Western Hatfield Hotel. I have only one negative and that is the next morning there was no cooked breakfast, there was some sort of power cut but we were not offered a refund for the breakfast and it was not complimentary. All the family stayed at the hotel for the wedding some spending as much as 8 nights. Other than that it was a fantastic day. I would highly recommend this hotel for your wedding. The next day when it was time for to remove personal items from the wedding, the staff were extremely helpful and kind.

We went to The Hatfield this afternoon to celebrate one as our friends got married away. We decided on afternoon tea which couldn't be faulted. The service by Jo was outstanding nothing was to much trouble. We wasn't rushed at all. The food was fresh and well served. Very good value for money.

What a fantastic night out at the Hatfield Hotel, Mark Anthony and Issac were playing in the bar, Fantastic music, hope they are playing there again soon , everyone was up dancing. The hotel is so lovely ,they serve Great food and a lovely afternoon tea. The sea view is so lovely , highly recommend this hotel for a stay or a night out especially if Mark Anthony and Issac are playing.??????????

I visit the hotel periodically for morning coffee and previously given a posative review. However, more recently getting served is taking too long, even had to return cups for being stained. It feels under staffed and under supervised at times. It's such a good venue and location it's a shame it can't be better organised.

I travelled with my husband, 3 children (all in one family room) and my nanny who used a wheelchair. There was easy ish wheelchair access and a ramp was put up from the restaurant to access the lift. Access from the outside bar area and restaurant to the beach was easy. Paving was flat when going for a walk. Used a local charity to hire the wheelchair, they dropped off and picked up.The family room to accommodate us all was great. Double bed, 2 singles and a single Z bed. We were all comfortable and there was plenty of space. Only thing missing was a small fridge.The staff were all helpful and friendly to my 4 year old and did all they could for my 87 old nanny, which made her feel better. She hates putting anyone out and they were reassuring. The food was OK. Could do with adding pasta dishes but we enjoyed all our meals.Easy access to the beach, arcades, ice cream etc! Kids were very happy! It was a lovely stay.

Myself and 4 friends came for afternoon tea today. The sandwiches were ok - bread was a little stale. Scones were very nice. Patisserie cakes were ok, but I'm sure the mini muffins were straight from Asda. Worst thing was the service. Our waitress wasn't attentive and so I went to bar to order drinks. Was told I couldn't. When my friend ordered a gin and tonic the waitress didn't seem to know what 'slimline tonic' was!!! £6.55 for a gin and mystery tonic which only half filled glass isn't good. Happily, the company was fabulous so my afternoon wasn't wasted, but will loom elsewhere for an afternoon tea next time.

We visited B W Lowestoft in early August 2019. We arrived early, and luckily found a parking just outside. First impression? Needs a coat of paint! The room wasn't ready so we stored our luggage and returned later. Location: Great location, on the boardwalk, with stunning views from the outside seating area Check-in / out and staff: Efficient enough, but very casual. No welcome, no explanation of the amenities or restaurant/bar hours. Parking: Across the road, but you register at reception. Often full though, which poses problems! Room: Small, with a lot of outdoor noise. Needs refurbishing, as it looks old, cheap and tired. No air-conditioning. Breakfast: Good buffet, plus hot options can be ordered. Wi-Fi: OK, on the slow side. TV: basic TV offering, no Sky channels. Bar and restaurant: both good. Condition far better than the hotel. Plenty seating with a view, and really popular, though we always found a seat. Other: it looks like all the effort goes into the restaurant and bar, which are great. But the hotel? Very mediocre decor, feel, and rooms. Value: Fair value, nice location, good food and bar.

Creaking floorboards....creaky bed...bathroom prehistoric....tiny room...live music venue , speaks for itself really.Wouldn't stay in this single room again for a pension....carpets grubby, tiles in bathroom dirty....very unpleasant.

I haven't eaten here for over two years due to a previous poor experience but breakfast (served until 11am) was very good for our party of 4 this week. The location overlooking the sea and facilities were very good.

Just had a meal from the restaurant, rump steak which I have had before. It was so damp and chewy I sent it back, then it came back still inedible and so tough could not cut it easily. I cut it into small pieces and fed it to the seagulls, and they were not even that keen, what does that tell me. On the previous occasion, the starter called 'Greek Delight' was a rubbery affair, hardly a good effort for Greek food. I did not ask for my money back, but the restaurant is certainly hit and miss.

Good and friendly reception staff v helpful, reception area was less than professional but this could be because of the refurbishment that was takeing place,breakfast outdoors on the veranda was excellent. Our room 105 was very clean and well decorated,the beds were v comfortable,the sea view was v good

We had a meal and drink at this venue, and the food served was excellent, there were a good choice on the menu and drinks also, lovely coffee afterwards, service was good and we did not have long to wait for our meals, it was very relaxing sitting on the terrace overlooking the sea, very pleasant and we will go again.

Yet again a wonderful meal and fabulous food , staff very accommodating as they always are. We have been many times we didn't book but found us a fabulous table with the view of the sea . Thank you very much for looking after us. Gill williams

Before we set up for the day on the beach we decided to come and have breakfast first, the food has always been great here. We can highly recommend the breakfast, it was fresh, hot and so much food, even served on hot plates and the tea was fresh tea not tea bags. The welcome we had from as soon as we walked in was friendly, Emma who served us was friendly, polite and always had a smile on her face.

not alot i can say tbf had a really good time food was lovely view was great cant complain at all and the manager kathy went out of her way to make my stay alot better be back again next year the new terrace is lovely at night time

Stayed for two nights. The room we stayed in was well presented, clean and a great view of the sea. The hotel is very convenient for beach and shops. The staff were really helpful and pleasant. Would definitely stay again.

Great view out to the unexpectedly blue North Sea, and definitely the best sausage and mash I've had in a very long time. Great cooking, great flavour, with the onions and wine gravy the icing on the cake, so to speak. Quality stuff! Don't miss it.

I was travelling for business and stayed at the hotel for one night. I arrived late and missed dinner, however I was pointed towards the nearby Turkish which was truly excellent. Lowestoft is trying to be a sea side place, it both is and isn't. It is by the sea. It isn't an ideal place for a holiday though. This hotel is old, clean and well situated. It has character and quirks though manages not to be endearing. My room was a rather curious shape. Breakfast was good but not amazing. Bare bones are there for a more interesting Hotel but I think that this commercially is what I would do if I was running it. I must say that every person I met on reception was professional, polite, useful and courteous. I would stay here and it's a good option for working in the town but I wouldn't go back to Lowestoft for fun and I wouldn't go back here unless work took me back to Lowestoft.

Best Creme brûlée ever! Compliments to the chef! Lovely waitress, awesome speedy service, and a great sea view! I had the prawn linguine. It was nice, a little pricey. Could do with more fresh red chilli though!

I enjoyed another delicious meal at the Hatfield . I had the garlic and chilli prawns for a starter followed by the Cajun Salmon. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Washed down with a yummy mojito cocktail. As always the staff were friendly and attentive. The sun was shining and the sea was glistening. A perfect evening.

Room bright and breezy on side of hotel. Vehicle noise from road. We have visited previously and had sea view. Room clean, plenty of tea/coffee in room on request. Met with family who live in Lowestoft and had tea on the terrace. Had dinner which was nice. If we stayed again would opt for a sea view room as Sunday to Thursday it's much quieter. Lovely location right on promenade

I stayed at this Hotel on a Saturday night when there was a function taking place, given a wrist band and told I had to wear it as I went to my room. Earlier that day the Hotel reception had phoned me and advised me of the function and asked if I would like a quiet room, which I accepted. The reception staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel has seen better days, I think the carpets were the same ones that had been there when I went to the Hotel over thirty years ago! The carpet in my room was threadbare! Furniture was old and very dated. When I went to eat I stood waiting for almost ten minutes to be seated or even greeted, the function was obviously taking precedence as was texting on mobile phones. I eventually walked out and bought some food at the local Coop store. This Hotel needs some serious attention to even start to get reasonable.

After 17 of us going to the Hatfield for the last 4 years every Sunday my 84 yo grandparents received a £60 fine for parking in their car park. They input their details into the touch screen but it didn't register and received a fine. Threatening Bayliffs if they didn't pay. How do 84 year olds cope with such a threatening letter. Called the Hatfield; the Hatfield manager Cluna was dismissive and said it's tough they have to pay the fine there are plenty of signs up... something that's always been there and a policy never enforced.... despite asking if it's ok to park in The car park at reception every week. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and that of the so called manager.

We have had a meal here last Friday and this 8/06/18 Fish and chips would thoroughly recommend it was lovely to much but lovely.sat outside on the terrace and looked over the beach.the service is really good the staff are really friendly. I know I will definitely be going back and must try something else next time.we ate about 18.00 the first week and 19.00 the second but because they have this clear cover you can sit and watch the sea and not feel cold.it will be even nicer when the weather improves.

My wife and I stayed at the Hatfield last Saturday night 2nd June and had the Elizabeth suite 113 the room was lovely and really comfortable with a really good sea view except for the really squeaky flood boards the bed was comfy and we decided to have lunch well neither of us could finish the portions were more than ample and the price was very good, breakfast was good with a variety of starters the toaster could have been better or their could have been two to save queuing I rate our stay highly and would stay again. The staff were really helpful and the coloured receptionist was a truly lovely lady who couldn't do enough a true credit to Best western

Stayed Fri night till Monday morning (bank holiday ). We enjoyed our stay no major problems for us, yes the stairs creak and the bed was well used did it spoil our stay not at all. Food was good staff were good overall we had a great time will definitely use again..

Just back from an overnight stay. The hotel itself was very clean. The staff friendly and helpful. The room was also clean. I have one issue with the room... the HAIRDRYER! It was placed under the tv in a holder, lead wrapped around. When I came to use it once plugged in the lead was too short to get anywhere near your head let alone the mirror. Not only that it could not be plugged in anywhere else. Plus point .. plenty of tea and coffee and could ask for more at reception no problem. Bar prices a bit expensive. Booked the room only a few days before travelling and got at a very good price. Had the option to add breakfast but that too a bit pricey at £9.95 per person. Lovely views of the beach though from the terrace.

Just had a family dinner to celebrate my mother-in-laws 90th birthday. 20 people yet all the food was lovely everyone enjoyed themselves and left feeling full. Waitresses Paris and Ellie were absolutely great and helped make the day special.

We have eaten lunch at this hotel in the bar area twice recently. The food was excellent on both occasions. Good size portions and very tasty. We chose fish and chips and the pork duo. It is a little more expensive than some places, but well worth it.

A friend and I came to the Hatfield for an afternoon tea and to watch the royal wedding. We had a lovely time. The sandwiches, cakes, scones and pastries were delicious and the tea was nonstop. I wouldn't say that this was fine dining but all the staff were very kind and we really enjoyed ourselves.

No problem with Parking but finding the hotel was another matter. It is poorly sign posted and I ended up going around several times. The bar and restaurant were okay with an upgraded seating area outside adjoins the bar. This however exaggerated the contrast when juxtaposed against the room. Food quality was good and the staff whilst polite and enthusiastic were sometimes stretched. They ran a few themed nights in the bar which was fine if you wanted to party the night away. However if you had an early start disturbances from outside were not welcome. Sleep quality was not great! My room was the size of a coffin and although the en suite had a good shower, a poorly sized and loosely fitted toilet seat did not impress! But clean and tidy and even being a little dated can be a welcome change to some of the more modern lodgings. That said some decorating wouldn't go amiss. Painted over anaglypta wallpaper lent a 1970's pub feel to the room. It does the job but I feel it is a little pricey for what you get.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea here with my friend while watching the Royal Wedding! Lovely decorated room, excellent food and service. Shelley and her team did an absolutely amazing job! Will definitely come back again.

Totally disappointed to be paying £89 for an outdated room, not much larger than my tiny single bed. Lovely view from my bedroom of a car park and a noisy road. Shower not great either, plenty of water but the temperature cycled continuously.

Requested a mocktail and to!d noone available to take order (even though a cocktail bar!) Stsff member who was trained eventually took order..then arrived with wrong ingredients in what can only be described as a car crash of a cocktail and without key ingredients!.when asked to speak to manager a person dressed for Benidorm arrived who only offered a replacement drink and no reund so nad to stay for a drink to avoid being out of pocket.when sent email complaint they advised 19 mins was acceptable tp wait for a wrong cocktail ! And accused me of lying about the refund offered..they didn't even believe the cocktail was wrong or the wait without checking their cctv.NO GOWILL gesture offered and when i said not happy with their attitude toward customer care they emailed me saying they wouldn't correspond with me anymore to try to resolve this matter.

I have visited the Hatfield on a few occassions mostly for food which has been delicious. Every time the service has been great. Last night I attended the "80s night with Rob Chandler"... what a night. The atmosphere was fantastic with around 400 people. It was so busy and yet I never queued for longer than 3/4 mins for a drink at the bar. The bar staff were exceptional under the pressure of such a busy room and deserve a mention for all their hard work. Our group agreed it was one of the best evenings out we'd had in years.

The Hotel Hatfield sits right on the seafront, offering fantastic views. It's a very welcoming place and good value for money. The decor is a bit dated in places, but scrupulously clean and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

The staff at this hotel are great - so friendly and attentive without being overpowering. I was lucky enough to have a sea view room which was immaculately clean and offered a comfortable bed. Room service was swift and delicious and breakfast the next day was very enjoyable. My only critics was I was then on business and not staying a couple of days for leisure.

I would say this hotel is okay for couples that don't mind having a late night. I wouldn't recommend for families. Music was on till 11.30pm, drunk people shouting, arguing outside until 1.30am. Room was basic, and there was dust in most places. One side bed light didn't work. Also as a safety issue the hotel window opens wide, meaning kids could fall out. Other hotels I have stayed at have a safety latch. Wouldn't stay here again.

It was a great weekend away of celebrations in Lowestoft! The hotel is everything you could want for a seaside trip away with a great food and drinks menu which had one of the best G&T's i've had in a while. The room is a good size and the bed is very comfortable. Would definitely recommend a trip away here!

Came to stay at this venue for a celebration which took place in a function room within the hotel. The area in which the celebration took place had stunning decor and service provided was amazing. Great food was served during the evening and also for breakfast the following morning. The rooms were immaculate and very spacious. Bar staff and reception staff were extremely attentive and lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Nice size room with a sea view Staff were very helpful and polite The food in the restaurant was also very nice My room was presented well and all the usual amenities were provided e.g soap, plenty of towels and a bathrobe. Great hotel if you want a cheap place to stay on the east coast

Can't really fault it for a 1-Night-Stay, was where we needed to be, clean nice atmosphere in the evening - didn't eat there. Creaky floors but thats to be expected in old buildings. Overpriced breakfast for us so we didn't have breakfast there either.

Went for lunch at The Hatfield Hotel in Lowestoft for the 3rd time this year. The service is outstanding! Such friendly serving staff, helpful and cheerful, nothing seems too much trouble. We were there during the change over of serving staff but this seemed seamless. Food was very good, great size portions and good menu choice. Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again, thank you!

We stayed for 2 nights. The first night we were in room 204 THAT WAS SWELTERING. Although a very helpful chap came to the room with a spanner the radiator would not turn off. He bought a fan too, but even with that & the window fully open still we still were unable to sleep. The next morning we went to reception and a very nice lady moved us to room 203. We had an excellent night's sleep. Breakfast on both mornings was varied, very tasty & well cooked. All the staff were very nice.

Visiting Lowestoft for a couple of nights with two friends and the hotel I used to stay at was closed. Found this place online and booked a twin and a single. Good price. Excellent location on the esplanade. Got a parking space opposite in the car park. Very attentive staff, clean, well appointed, comfortable rooms. Also got a discount on the final morning's breakfast by paying for it the day before. Would certainly go there again.

Recent stay in great sea view family room. Only thing could do with light between twin beds.Very comfy with all requirements. Breakfast was very good plenty of choice & well prepared.Unlikely stay in Lowestoft again as towns really got a run down feel to it.But would certainly recommend anyone need accommodation here would be as good as would find anywhere else in the resort.

The hotel is very nice and clean we stayed in the lodges which were a little small and the bed was not great but for a short stay manageable a new mattress is probably needed . The staff were very friendly the restaurant staff excellent plenty of bar staff for busy night's cocktails great and well priced and the food was fantastic although if I had to moan a little too much .Breakfast was well worth the money and the carvery once again can not fault what a shame the weather can not be the same lovely weekend break

Seems to be an Issue at this Hotel booking a Seaview Room as pre booked again this year and messed up again, This happened Last year also. Standard of Check in / booking in advance needs majorly looking into - Very dissapointed

Visited for lunch with the wife and was throughly impressed with the quality of the food on offer. As a chef I always pay attention to the food being delivered to other tables and must say the quality was very high. This was only echoed by the food we recieved. Both my wife and I enjoy eating out and found the Hatfield to be a lovely location to enjoy a very high quality meal.

Had a lovely meal fish and chips first class as was the prawn linguine portions were very generous. Service good. Lively atmosphere but not rowdy took friend from up north and they were very impressed

I must have spent more nights in Best Western's than in my own home now. As is typical in Seaside best western's; The hotel is a large, traditional hotel and stands in a prime location. For £66 with a decent cooked breakfast and free parking thrown in, it was good value. Untypical of Best Westerns; The modern bar serves a good range of ales and spills onto the sea front/ esplanade which must be a great place to basque around on a sunny day. In true Best Western style the rooms are reliably dated with a bit of wear and tear round the edges but are ultimately clean and hospitable. Flash backs to visits to the seaside with your grandparents in the 80's, happy days!
