    « Litchfield Inn »

The Inn itself and lobby area were attractive and well appointed. The room was comfortable but we had some serious problems with the noise of the heating system. Also the shower ran out of hot water. Breakfast was OK; food was good but it was a fairly standard buffet offering you'd expect in less expensive places.

    « Save your money »

Disappointing. I booked a room with a four post bed, that's not what we were given. Check in was brief and the person checking us in acted as if we interrupted her movie. Front desk was filthy. Messy and stuff piled everywhere. Market was ok, more junk piled all over the floor, holiday decorations etc. Lobby had coffee but no creamer. Great room was beautiful, except for the worn, cheap furniture and the torn window treatments. The restaurant was ok, I was not impressed. Stale hamburger buns are not bread to be served with dinner. No salad with a dinner!? Fatty streak. We ordered coffee, got the bill and were never offered a refill. Our room 215, smelled like stale cigarettes. Two windows, and they have mismatched blinds. Cracked night stand, no coffee k cups, rug clearly had not been vacuumed, there were flower petals on it when we checked in. The heater was so loud we couldn't hear the tv. The tv took forever to figure out how to use and the fireplace is a joke, it's a cheap electric unit. Breakfast is $14.99 a person for a breakfast you can get at any 2 star hotel. Save your money and time. Awful, waste of money and ruined our celebration for my husbands birthday.

    « Superb position »

The hotel is few minutes walk to all attractions. It is clean warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and professional. Arrived early but as room was ready they allowed us to check in. Car park is two minutes walk away and price is reasonable.

« Nice Place to Stay »

Stayed at the Litchfield Inn recently while traveling. The somewhat mixed reviews concerned us a little, but it was late in the day and the location was good and the price was very reasonable so we booked a room (the Wine Cellar room). We did not regret it one bit. The public areas as well as our room were spotless and had clearly been renovated in the recent past. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated in a wine cellar theme. In regards to some of the negative reviews, it is true the rooms are not completely soundproof, but we did not find that to be an issue. It is also true that the finishes and furnishings are not fine antiques, but realistically, this is a moderately priced hotel/inn in a very nice area and it exceeded our expectations, with one minor exception. The breakfast operation needs some work. Breakfast is served until 10 am, which is nice, but when we arrived about 9:20, many items were depleted and never replaced, there were no coffee cups and no silverware or plastic ware. Fortunately, the adjacent dining room had place settings that we could scrounge utensils from. Bottom line, it appeared that no one was responsible for checking and replacing items during the breakfast, a situation should be easily remedied. This situation at breakfast was more of a disappointment than a problem however, and will certainly not prevent us from returning to the Litchfield Inn in the future.

« This is not an inn, its a motel »

Lets start with the promised fireplace. Its actually a space heater with a fake fireplace. Very cheesy and white trash. I swear it was trailer park material. And deceptive advertising. The four poster bed was a regular bed with a Home depot special posts attached to the ceiling and floor, about as romantic as a bunk bed. The location is one notch above a strip mall. This is not an New England Inn. Oh, and they ran out of Coffee at breakfast, Ran out of cream for the coffee too. , At the omelette station, they had a big very tacky sign saying "Tips Please". Again, all very low class

    « A beautiful spot in a beautiful town »

One of the prettiest hotels that we have ever stayed in - especially the Garden Room and the Contessa. It was nice to not feel compelled to leave the grounds on a very cold night as the restaurant was part of the complex, and the food and service there was very good too. Breakfast was excellent and comprehensive. No complaints at all!

    « Warm & Comfortable »

We really enjoyed our stay at Litchfield Inn. This location is warm and comfortable (for our mid December visit), but more importantly, the the staff here was SO pleasant and VERY accommodating. WE'LL BE BACK!

    « Staff Rude »

Not helpful with questions. Very unwelcoming and disinterested in my questions. No offers of help with luggage either on check in or checkout, or any pleasantries. Not ADA compliant room, need to upgrade services as far as access to hotel, parking, etc.

    « great get away »

really enjoyed the get away. Rooms were lovely and comfortable, staff accommodating and helpful. Felt like I was in a fancy get away- The living room area was warm and welcoming- enjoyed outr time drinking wine and watching TV

    « A few missteps »

We the guest room and breakfast room floors were dirty. The decor, while attractive, was impractical. Specifically the cute sink and quirky faucet were not practical. There was no shower, rather a hand held device which we thought was cumbersome.....and the HUGE step up into the high tub was on the edge of dangerous. The closet light would not turn off, after about 10 minutes so we were forced to call the desk for help. The best the young lady could do was to bring back a step ladder and unscrew the bulb....still sitting on the shelf on day 2. So much light from under the door that we had to put a towel on the floor.

« Great rooms terrible breakfast »

Nice hotel. Amateur staff though. And do not even think about having breakfast, it is awful, served from a closet, dirty serving area, cold food, eggs cooked on a dirty pan over a camping stove. Rooms are good but avoid the breakfast at all costs!

    « One night stay 10/24 »

Upon check in was told that breakfast was an additional charge. I asked again as the web clearly states "complimentary breakfast" and was told that is only on the theme rooms. While that is not clear and that is something that I was looking for when booking. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast from the Best Western home page under Hotel Amenities

    « Couldn't have asked for more »

Stayed here over the weekend and I could not be happier. Checking in was a breeze with the front desk staff. Our room was extremely clean (bathroom especially). For our first night, we had dinner downstairs at the restaurant and wow! Second night, we decided to check out the town and found an excellent pizza spot. Had breakfast at the hotel both mornings, and the staff was professional and extremely nice even at 8 in the morning. Like I said "couldn't have asked for more".

    « Over priced »

This hotel is over priced given service and amenities. The breakfast is an additional cost ($14.99 per guest) with no service and food choices similar to any road hotel. Beautiful location and convenient for our travel.

« Enjoyable Weekend with Friends »

We stayed at the Litchfield Inn for my friend's bachelorette weekend touring the area. The hotel was very clean, all staff that we interacted with were friendly and professional, and I loved that they had little nooks and sitting areas throughout the hotel. They also have a restaurant on site that had some live music while we were there. We weren't able to spend time in the restaurant to enjoy the entertainment, but it seemed like it would have been fun as we caught a glimpse on our way down the hall. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Lacks customer service »

Make sure to ask if there is a wedding scheduled before booking...and do not expect a follow up from management and staff. Rooms are amazing but the price you pay you expect much better service... Don't think I would return.

« best western in ct »

the accomodations were very nice the rooms were extremely clean and nicer than I anticipated. The lobby was very clean and quaint very nicely decorated. Breakfast was pricey with not a large selection we went somewhere else to eat. overall the hotel was excellent

    « Charming hotel »

Nice hotel design with clean rooms and updated bathrooms. Comfy and cozy sitting areas. Good location to explore the small town and surrounding countryside .Cookies at checkin were much appreciated. Nice staff.

« High Quality and Pleasant Property »

An old inn in spacious, attractive natural setting that has become an upscale BW (that aspect is low keyed). Excellent rooms with a variety of décor and whole facility is well-appointed. Friendly staff. Geographic area has open, green countryside with hills in quant town setting. Convenient for travel. Restaurant on site that is attractive (but food experience was not good).

    « Nice accommodations »

Planned this trip several months ago. Room in our area of the inn was typical hotel type room. Nicely appointed and large enough to accommodate the two of us with all of our carry in suitcases and other. Inn has robes and slippers

« A quaint, old fashioned Inn, well maintained »

We stayed there while in town on business. It is a classic new england Inn, with early American furnishings. The staff is nice, and the place seems well-maintained. Our room was huge, with 2 TVs and a sitting area. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was not included, so that adds a bit of expense, but the breakfast buffet was nice, with an omelet station, etc., and convenient. The grounds are very nice, and there is a nice bar/restaurant on the premises. We stay in a lot of BWs for business, and this was definitely one of the best (hence the premier designation). It's also pet-friendly, for a reasonable fee. We recommend it.

« My favorite place to stay »

The customer service at the check-in desk is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean. The cleaning staff is always very accomodating and friendly. I love the location and convenience to eating places and shops. I have been staying at the Litchfield Inn for a week every summer since 2007 and rarely have I had a problem.

    « Wonderful Weekend Stay »

As someone who is always traveling for work, I decided to go to the Litchfield Inn after being done with a work conference that took place around the area. The Inn had a perfect New England feel to it, as soon as I checked in me and my fiance were provided with warm cookies and informed about the complimentary wine located in the lobby throughout the day. The service of the front desk was great, one of the gentleman working helped us bring our bags upstairs and was very helpful in providing us with a couple of ideas on what to do later for dinner. We stayed in one of the Theme Rooms the Garden Room and it was worth every penny. I am hoping that I have more conferences around the area so I can once again return to the Inn.

    « Lovely, peaceful location »

This is a wonderful location in Litchfield County. The rooms are so spacious and lovely. The restaurant is very good. The service is good, too. It is quiet and unique. A must stay if you are traveling in this area.

    « Romantic Visit »

Drove to the Litchfield Inn from Boston with my boyfriend after hearing about my coworkers wonderful stay. I stayed in one of the theme rooms located on the second floor and the room was amazing. If staying at the Litchfield Inn I would highly recommend staying in one of the theme rooms especially if its the Garden room. My stay was overall amazing the service from the staff at the front desk as well as throughout the hotel was top notch and must stay at location if anyone is around the area.

    « It was...fine »

Stayed here one weeknight with my mom. Room was comfortable, but there was no tv or internet because of a problem on the street. It wasn't the Inn's fault, but it was incredibly frustrating- I couldn't get my work done for a deadline and my mom had no options for entertainment. As I said, not their fault, but I felt like they could have been more proactive about telling people about the issue- I probably tried for an hour to get online and to restart the tv before we called the front desk and they told us about the issue. We were on the second floor; the common areas were too hot to go out and sit in although the air conditioning in the room was fine. Didn't want to walk around the grounds because of the tick warnings in the room. The 'fitness center' was a room with a few treadmills, etc. That room was hot too (although I could have asked the front desk about it- I didn't want to get off the treadmill to do it though!) The mini-bar prices were outrageous, but that's what you expect. We didn't stay in a 'theme room' so our room was generic hotel, which is again fine- but I expected a more 'New England Inn' unique/cozy/quaint atmosphere. As I keep saying, it was fine- I guess I just expected, especially at this price point, for it to be more special. I would stay again if I were passing through, but I wouldn't choose it as a 'destination' in itself.

    « Litchfield »

Wow what an adorable Inn! Great service lovely rooms really good food in attached restaurant. A real find in my book Everyone went out of their way to make this a great trip and it sure was! A little out of our way but I will be making another trip to Litchfield Inn

    « Visit for a wedding »

Stayed at the Litchfield inn last weekend in one of the presidential suite theme rooms, the room was beautiful including it's white bedding, bathroom was spacious and clean. Throughout my stay and wedding experience I found the staff at the Inn to be very helpful and accommodating. Will definitely be returning in the fall again!!

    « A little confused »

So we just went up to Litchfield for an overnight to get out of New Haven. To be honest, there aren't a lot of choices for lodging, or my search was too late. In any event, we checked in which was easy enough I guess. The clerk was nice enough, I guess. She then offered us breakfast coupons for the morning for $14.95 each. After the drive, I seemed a little pressured to decide right then and there, but I went for it anyway. We walked through the 'sitting area' where there is a fireplace, and then down a long hall to where the rooms are. I had two thoughts instantly as I took that journey. What a pretty place and, why is it so darn cold in here? We finally got to our room and opened the door. It was actually colder in our room, then it was in frozen passage I was coming from. I hurriedly opened the windows, and shut off the A/C. As I opened the windows, I saw the nice view of the...dumpsters. The room, however, was beautiful. It had a nice big bed, a large sitting area with 2 TVs. The bathroom was small with a small tub, with shower, and a commode. Outside the bathroom was a sink and vanity. The problem with the bathroom is that it is small and cramped. When a King or Queen wants to sit on their throne and enjoy a periodical or a game on their electronic device, they will sit without hesitancy and lean back. However when doing so, one will pull the right arm back in a bent position, and smack into the horribly placed toiled paper dispenser, which smarts. I actually did it a couple of times during my stay, quite annoying. The next morning, I went down to get my $14.95 breakfast. Big disappointment. It was no different than a breakfast one would get at a Holiday Inn, for free. It was self serve, machine given weak coffee, machine given juices. one of those toasters from the 1960's that sort of takes the bread for a real slow ride and falls down the shoot at the end. A few very basic pastries, and some cereal. They did have an egg 'station' with one poor guy standing there making eggs and omelettes to order, sort of. The other thing I noticed was that the floors were dirty. Not only in the $14.95 breakfast eating area, but in the common areas as well. I saw no staff other than one person at the front desk, the poor guy making the eggs, and a very pretty girl taking the coupons. No chamber maids, no custodians, no one. Like the manager or owner was on vacation or something. I wasn't thrilled, but not completely turned off either. A solid 3.

    « Pleasant stay »

Check in was fast and the person was courteous. I was provided a lovely package of warm cookies upon my arrival and told about the available coffee/tea as well. I stayed in a room with a double queen and it was large and clean. The wifi worked well and set up was easy and effortless. The "gym" was lacking however. The treadmills, while working were in poor repair and made noises. I didn't try the elliptical or bike. The water container was empty. and it would appear that not many people use this workout area. The buffet breakfast, which is not included with the room price was okay and convenient. It is noted that the material provided in the room quoted 10.00 pp but when I asked at the desk I was told 13.00. When I noted the published price I was told that what I would be charged. I found the staff generally helpful and friendly. Checkout was easy.

    « A Lovely Inn in a Lovely Town »

This was me and my boyfriend's first time staying at an inn and I have to say, what a wonderful experience! We stayed in the Contessa room. With it's light and dainty color scheme, we felt right at home. Not only was the room inviting, it was clean and cozy. Overall, I loved the ambiance and historical feel of the inn. The staff was courteous and welcoming. If you just want to relax, and get away from it all, this is the place. We can't wait to plan our next visit!

« Stay here only if not bathing »

My wife likes to take a bath in the evenings. The stopper in the bathtub would not work. Ok we can live with that. Next morning for showers. NO HOT WATER. Let the water run for about 10 minutes and never got warm. Went to desk to complain. Only person standing at desk as two ladies tried to figure out how to sign on computer completely ignoring me. After several minutes one acknowledged me. Told her my problem. Her only response was to write it down on a piece of paper. No I'm sorry or anything Customer service is a lost art. After 10 days on road this is worst stay we have had.

    « Cool Relaxing Weekend »

Stayed here for a weekend and had a nice weekend down to earth. Low key area with a beautiful inn. Not too fancy but it had great amenities. I enjoyed the service and the food. The rooms were nice and had no problems. I would recommend to anyone who's looking to go anywhere around the area to stay here.

« Nice stay! Room was clean and comfortable. »

I enjoyed my stay at the Litchfield Inn. Spent the evening at the Tavern off the Green listening to a local soloist - Vinnie Avalone. Great show and great food. the room was nice - very quiet (but it was off season). The people are the front desk were awesome - both the evening and morning people. I would stay there again.
