Out of breakfast at 750am, manager made excuses that the day shift just came in, wasn't their fault. I took 30 minutes for more eggs, sausage and potatoes to be brought out. I was told that breakfast was put out at 5am by the night staff. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
We were woken up at 1 a.m. by a loud bang followed by drilling, hammering, and vaccuuming until 4 a.m. NO ONE came and apologized or told us ahead of time this was going to be done. The next day they did not work on it at all! Instead they had a note on the check out desk stating that the work would be done at midnight. Seriously?!?! People are trying to sleep at night. The work should be done in the day time.
Refrigerator didn't get cold,95%hotel was over taken by immigrants, they were hanging out everywhere, loud music and talking, breakfast is TERRIBLE, wasn't allowed to use pool only for immigrants, wasn't told this till we tried to use it
The stay was really good! From check-in with Mrs. Mitzi to the checkout with Mrs. Dana! These ladies are what makes the stay much more pleasant. We had great rooms and even though the pool was not working, everything else was right on. I did not have any issues with my stay even with my late checkout. I would highly recommend this place!
Staff was great. Staff was very nice and friendly. Check in was a breeze very fast quick no problems. Very clean and spacious rooms. No complaints here.
Manager does not have a quiet time rule for the hotel at night. Noise all over the first floor rooms hall went on until 3am with loud TVs, people up and down the hall talking loudly, and doors slamming non-stop. Manager was very unsympathetic and responded that she can't do anything as there were no fights going on (!!!!!). She couldn't switch us to a different area that night either, and refused to give us a refund. We cancelled our second night and found a room at the Marriott (great experience there). However, our family vacation was already ruined. Instead of spending the day sightseeing, we ended up catching up with our sleep
Staff very friendly. Our room was spacious and smelled good. Bed comfortable. Only thing wrong was hand held shower did not work properly. Hotel in good location. Breakfast was good. Had a good night's rest before heading back home. Would come back here again.
Front desk clerk was no where in site. Waited 5 mins to be checked in. Sewage and bleach smell was very noticeable. I greeted the manager Jessica because she never acknowledged me. Lots of people hanging in the hallways and all throughout the bldg. I did not feel safe. Breakfast was cheap and terrible, Mini pancake machine was disgusting taste. All beverages was weak and tasted watered down. Old potatoes not fresh and powered eggs was disgusting. I will not ever stay at this location.
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. We required a shower chair for my husband and the receptionist immediately brought one to our room. She also worked hard to get a room close to an exit as my husband has mobility issues. We didn't for that, she was just attentive to his needs. I was very impressed with the housekeeping staff. They were working constantly and it shows in the cleanliness of the facility.
I enjoyed my stay at the BW Plus Vermilion River Inn. The experience began a little strange when we arrived and saw so many young men standing outside the hotel, around the hotel and throughout the hotel. It turns out they are Shell employees inhabiting the hotel on a semi-permanent basis and servicing the ships off the coast nearby. It made for an intimidating first encounter with the hotel. Once iniside the front desk area was also littered with large tables protecting the check-in area, bringing back haunting memories of the hotel check-in experience during the covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021. But the staff were more than willing to provide a seamless, enjoyable and above the rest experience and were also very helpful and knowledgeable about printing out information for things to see in the area. The stay was a bit noisy as many of the guests from shell although not permitted after a certain time to be on the first floor, were still on the first floor making noise and walking around late into the night. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. I enjoyed having a fridge and two countertops for which to prepare food, wash your hands in a sink and multiple chairs to sit in near the beds and a big TV. The room we were in had a separate sink and mirror located outside the bathroom. I found the size of the bathrooms to be cramped and the fan to remove steam was not functional or adequate. But overall I would give this property a high score despite some of its setbacks. The breakfast lounge provided foods found at most other BW hotels and I found having not one, but two staff attending to the breakast area to be truly unique. I would stay here again. But you have to book early in the day if you want to get a room. 99 rooms total, and on average only 13 rooms available for guests due to the shell employees taking up most of the rooms. I was told they had another location nearby to host many other shell employees. It's good money for the hotel on a regular basis. But hard if you want to have a quiet experience as a tourist. But the staff more than make up for any inconveniences. And please add the little stands in the rooms to put your luggage. They did not have any at this location. I still recommend this as your choice for a stay in Lafayette.
In town for an event and this was one of the hotels in the block. The price was great, had everything we needed and was conveniently located for our needs. Would stay here again if ever back in Lafayette.
We were in town for a volleyball tournament. The hotel was booked to capacity, but you would have believed we were the ONLY guests. The facility was great, but the staff was phenominal. GREAT way to end our season!
The Hotel was clean, but had a spider problem in my room. The breakfast was absolutely disgusting with no one on staff in the room or desk to help. Had to eat out every morning. Other than these two issues it was a decent stay, room was quiet, especially since I work nights and sleep during the day.
Made reservations on jan. 9th 2023. Stayed Tuesday February 14th for 1 night. Reserved queen room. They had already ran my card for full amount earlier that morning, even though I was paying in cash at check in which was noted. When I got to room, realized it was double beds and not 2 queen beds. Hard as a rock. Broken plug on night stand lamp. Clock didn't work, t.v. had screen settings for everything in Spanish. When i went to check out, was told that they had no double queens available that is why i was puy in double bed room. Had reservations for weeks and didn't get room reserved. Also paid same price for smaller room. I am a diamond select member and bestwestern will here from me. Also be warned it is an old super 8. Also full of noisy rude oilfield workers. Will never stay here again. Unlike my room, that is a guarantee.
I usually take reviews with a grain of salt, most of the time. However, i was worried reading the previous reviews of this property prior to visiting. Let's just say, the property definitely exceeded my expectations. The guest rooms are clean and inviting. The amenities all in working order, the rooms are very large and functional. Breakfast was what you would expect from Best Western Plus, hot items, etc. I don't usually leave reviews on Trip Advisor but i do believe that this property has gotten a bad rap from previous guests. I'll definitely stay again when traveling to Lafayette.
The hotel was great and being a diamond elite member for the first time in a long time I was automatically given the diamond upgrade for free which was very nice doesn't happen very often! The young girl that checked me in was amazing and the staff overall was great
Receptionist was separated from customer by both the counter and by a lined up row of folding tables which meant that all signing in transactions were conducted stretched over what I assume is an effort to socially distance. The "accessible room" has a few poor design choices including a nearly inaccessible closet, window shades that let in quite of bit of strong light (all through the night), and 4 small square pillows for the bed. A polite request for additional pillows was rebuffed and the clerk was candid, stating that "the people steal our pillows, we don't have any. There are some might be coming, if the truck comes today." Comfortable bed, but do bring pillows (we bought a few at a local department store and carried them right in) and bring sleep masks. And you may want to bring your own towels as the hotel provided only two facecloths and two medium sized hand towels. Period. The painting going on in the hallways was not unpleasant for a smell, and the workmen were polite. The complementary breakfast offered no bread or toast options whatsoever, and the offerings were a mediocre and uninspired selection of packaged muffins and stale-ish danish, scrambled egg and gray-ish sausage. Coffee was good, however. There are many fine places to stay in Lafayette, so, at least, you do have quite a few other choices besides this otherwise so-so site.
We stayed in room #107. The bed sheets, pillow cases and bed spread had fresh dirt and make-up smudges on them. The floor had debris covering bathroom floor and appeared that it had not been vacuumed for some time. The bed appeared to have been made up using soiled and previously used bed linen.
I really liked staying in this hotel, I have been here maybe 3 times and I like it a lot. I can say that more activities are needed and the signal for the wifi and tv should be a lot stronger. I would definitely recommend them though.
This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Bathroom was filthy and floor was sticky. Could not sleep , the air conditioner sounded like a freight train was running in the room. The front desk was useless. I have been trying to get in touch with the General Manager, Andy Patel but he will not call me back. I have called him 5 times and the front told they informed of my need to talk to him but he refuses to call me back. DISGRACEFUL
First the room was filthy. Mold in the bathtub, cigarette burn holes in the comforter, mold in in the toilet. Don't expect them to clean room at all!! All I ever got was towels. They entered my room when I had the do not disturb sign on the door then when I requested a room clean they only took one garbage can out and gave me towels. A weird noise in the cabinets that don't open. No storage for your clothes. Stay away save your money!!
Typical stay in this type of hotel however the BW we stayed in the previous night in Alabama was outstanding. Room was clean and very roomy. The hotel was quiet during the night even though we were near the elevator. Breakfast was a huge disappoinment and we walked away and got something down the road a bit. The check in person was very nice, the morning person could not seem to wake up. I would not stay at this one again.
I used Priceline to reserve the reservation. Check in was fast, staff extremely friendly, and the hotel was clean and represented as shown in photos. Renovations still in progress but ok overall. At check in, I asked for extra blankets. My roomie asked for extra towels. We were provided with both. Very courteous and accommodating staff. The very first thing we did in the room was eat cajun food. Delicious but pungent. Off to the front desk to ask for wipes and deodorizer. Here's where the breakdown occurs. At the front desk, a gentleman is at the far end of the desk. When asked, I state that I will wait until the gentleman has what he needs. I am told he is the "Manager" and a sign on the far wall reads the same for Andy Patel. I request deodorizer and wipes. I am provided deodorizer. Mr. Patel instructs the staff member to provide me paper towels which she moves to do. I then ask if the bed blankets were changed "today". (Breakdown begins.) Mr. Patel asks the staff member what my room number is and is given the number. He then looks at me and begins to tell me a few things. Summary follows: Mr. Patel: You know what, cancel her reservation. I want her out. You have taken towels. You have asked for too many things. You worried about the sheets. They were changed but you can get the fu@# out. We don't want you here. Me: Are you serious? Mr. Patel: You are a nuisance. You have been problematic since you arrived. You have too many questions. Fu@# you. You. have 15 minutes to get your belonging and get out. Me: (very few words because I'm beyond astonished at how the situation became one) How did my asking for something get to this? This is how you speak to your customers? Mr. Patel: We don't like questions here. I don't give a fu@# about you. If you don't get your sh*& out of the room in 15 minutes, i will call the police. Me: Seriously? You have risen to this level because of my questions? Mr. Patel: You have two choices- go to your room or get out. (repeated) Me: Wow! Mr. Patel: If I call the police, I will charge you a cleaning fee/ for one night which will not be refunded. Me: I want to make sure I get a refund so yes, call the police. I need some account of what happened. Police arrived. They don't settle civil matters but did confirm that Priceline issued my refund. We left. Lafayette's Police were also the best. The facility has been recently renovated. The staff is awesome. The manager/owner's words and actions reflect zero concern a customer. The incident occurred as stated. I asked the staff if I offended her in any way, and she replied no. I am still in disbelief that Mr. Patel, a business leader, would address a customer in such a manner and use abusive language. His communication was abhorrent, aggressive, disruptive, and predatory. As a woman, I felt assaulted, distressed, inconvenienced, and more. I wonder if his response would have been the same if I were not a woman, or not African-American. To hear a manager in the hospitality industry debasing himself in such a way is objectionable. Perhaps more is going on with Mr. Patel than I might know. If so, I hope he gets the help he needs. I do know that a guest should not be subjected to the experience I had.
I do not recommend this location at all. We had a horrible experience here. Don't let the cheap price draw you in because you will regret it. Room was not clean, room keys didn't work for the door, beds and pillow were extremely uncomfortable, front desk doesn't care about your sleep and other guests were not respectful of your stay.
When we arrived at the hotel 15-20 women scantily dressed wearing 4 inch stilettos were hanging out in the lobby, disturbing guest. We were placed on the second floor. When we got off the elevator there appeared to be trash in the hallway. Huge empty boxes. The next morning they were still there with men sitting on them talking on the phone at odd hours. I'm not sure what kind of group they were. Possibly refugees??? Regardless they left us feeling unsettled and empty boxes that were left in the hallway made the place look like it was unkept although the housekeepers were out constantly cleaning. The hotel staff should have never given us a room in the middle of this questionable group. I'd never go back to this Best Western
