I would never stay at this hotel again. All bad reviews online are correct. Staff is in tshirt, sweats and sandals and hardly ever at the desk. Food area was filthy and unattended. Jacuzzi is non existent. Room lighting is horrible. No elevator and no outside sitting area.
Tried charging us extra for staining sheets when we were in the room for maybe 8 hours since we were only staying one night. When i called to inquire i was told i would get a call back- the manager was a coward and never called back- let his front desk staff handle my complaint and wouldnt pick up when they said he was going to be there. As a manager in customer service this is disgraceful and cowardly. The front desk employees deserve a better manager for sure.
This site is older and appears to be undergoing a slow remodel. I liked the dial entry door. The breakfast was great. The room was clean & comfortable but I booked it because the Amenities said they had a Hot Tub. The Spa room is filled with CRAP.
When I come to Huron I'm looking for a nice, affordable, clean, quiet place to stay with ideally a breakfast option. I've always had a good experience at this hotel. It's close to food places and near the side of town where i have to work. It's due for a remodel but based on the stack of pallets near the building that may be in the works soon. Better pillows would be nice as well.
Upon getting to our room we noticed it smelled of sewage, there was a French fry on the floor by the bed, the snow detector was torn out, the lamps didn't all work, the toilet seat was cracked, there was a wrapper in one of the beds, the water spicket in the shower almost came out of the wall, the shower floor was slimy with grunge. When we came up from breakfast we found our room door wide open along with every other door as house keeping decided to start before check out. The spa is also out of order as it's storing mattresses. Worst stay we've had someplace in a long time!
I recently stayed at the Best Western - Huron and had a satisfying experience overall. The motel's exterior might not be the most modern, but don't judge a book by its cover. Upon arrival, the check-in process was smooth, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They provided helpful information about nearby attractions and restaurants, which was greatly appreciated. The room was surprisingly spacious and clean. Though the decor was simple, everything was well-maintained and functional. The bed was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring. One highlight was the motel's convenience. It was located close to several popular landmarks and easily accessible from the main highway, making it an ideal spot for travelers looking for a convenient stopover. Although the breakfast options were limited, the quality was decent. It would be great to see a broader selection in the future. The motel's price was reasonable, considering the amenities provided. I found the value for money to be fair, especially given the cleanliness and comfort of the room. Overall, the Best Western - Huron offered a pleasant stay. Its friendly staff, cleanliness, and convenient location make it a suitable choice for travelers seeking a comfortable and affordable accommodation option.
Whenever we stay in Huron, we stay at Best Western because we know what to expect: a clean comfortable room, fairly priced, with friendly helpful staff. And this trip was wonderful as always! WE look forward to coming back.
AC not working properly - after being in high heat of 102 to come back to a room of about 75 degrees, after AC ran for 7 hours? They had to have known from prior guests in that heat - We paid extra for a suite and rate was over $300, they offered us another room to sleep in, we stayed in our suite with a whirlpool that could not be used unless we filled it with ice due to warmth of room. Hotel needs updated but bed was comfortable. Look elsewhere for hotel, disappointed in BW but locally owned I am sure. Oh they gave us $60 discount for the suite -
Shower and tub had ants and pubic hairs. Shower head had no pressure. Ceiling plaster was falling from the ceiling. Lights flickered on and off. Morning meal was half filled due to staff oversleeping and not able to provide food on time.
Hotel is under remodel and limited services No jacuzzii, no housekeeping , The jacuzzi room was filled with mattress and construction equipment is all over front parking lot , Service was poor no communication given at checkin
Watch your bill! Our reservation confirmation email stated we would be charged $85 per night. With taxes and fees it was quoted at $189.32 for 2 nights. We were charged $129 per night, plus taxes and fees. Overcharged by $95.90 and they are refusing to refund the difference. Calls and emails to the hotel are being ignored and Best Western customer service, while trying, hasn't been successful either. Find another place to stay.
We arrived after 4pm (which is check-in time). I had made room reservations over a month ago. We were checked in and given a key to a room on the 2nd floor. Maybe room 234, I don't recall. We carried all of our luggage up and found the room. The door was already propped open. I was astonished when I walked in to find the room in disarray. Box springs were propped up vertically. The chair was on its side. I walked back down to the front desk and told her that couldn't have been the room. She found another room and said she wasn't sure if it was cleaned or not, but we'd at least have a room. Is there no way for housekeeping to communicate with the front desk? So once again my family and I carried all of our belongings up to room 214. I opened the door and it was not cleaned yet. I did walk the hallways to look for housekeeping, but didn't find anyone. The front desk employee asked me if we were there to check in when I approached the front desk. I said no, I had already been there and tried to check in once before. I told her the room was dirty and she apologized. I was frustrated that the hotel's system of assigning rooms was a failure. Seriously, is there no communication going on? I asked her how were we to move ahead now. She said she'd go try to find someone to clean our room. She returned and said the housekeeper could have it cleaned in 20 minutes. I checked a couple times on the room. After 30 minutes additionally, the room was clean. In total, we waited probably an hour for the whole process to just get a clean room. And as I mentioned before, we arrived after check-in time. Overall, I would never recommend this Best Western to anyone. Also, the water in the morning was cold to lukewarm for my shower.
Warning!! BED BUGS I made the biggest mistake by choosing this filthy bed bug infested motel. Now both my daughter and my bags, clothes are comprised. 1:20 AM in morning, funeral tomorrow. I actually caught the bed bug killed it and took it to front desk where night attendant didn't want to be near it. Left it on their front desk waiting for manager to call. You have been warned.
My wife and I stayed here for nearly two weeks. We found it to be very quiet and comfortable. We almost never heard the other quests. Our room was clean, everything functioned properly and the beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning was not elaborate but it was very adequate and the breakfast room was spotless. We would definitely stay here again.
Nice place for the price. They are remodeling this winter so that will make it all the better look forward to staying here over the next year for work. Just checking out the hotels in town because we travel as a crew of 25-30. So out of the 4 hotels in town I liked this the best they gave us a good deal.
The cleanliness was lacking and the smell was horrible. The hot tub was closed. Unfortunate considering Best Western standards. Ended up not staying due to smell and was refused a refund. This hotel definitely needs some help.
+Staff and housekeeping polite +If staying in Huron, probably best choice +/- Beds middlin' in comfort range. I was not exactly bowled over, but I've definitely slept on worse. +/-Breakfast low on healthy choices, but that's most of Huron (sausages and ambiguous goo in crockpot, juice machine, waffle machine, a folgers instant coffee machine, sad apples, nice oranges, lower quality cold cereals and bread items). -Water pressure and fixtures poor for shower and toilets, rv toilet paper and Barbie Doll size shampoo/soaps. -Rooms smell suspiciously like pets, black mold or cigarettes had their hey day at some point in the not far off past. -Fitness room had no equipment much to my chagrin. Not even one damn treadmill. I did not ask for a pass since it was already very late in the day, but took my life in my hands and went running down 20th / East on Frank St. Not greatest neighborhood but I returned alive after 5 mile run amid fantasies of Huron gang wannabees chasing me with pocket knives. -I saw numerous potential code violations like an extension cord run for a lamp under a damp window AC unit for example. -I question the wisdom of placing the in-room coffee pot and ice bucket next to the toilet. Yes, really. I mean, I don't have a medical degree, but just sayin'. -I tried to call ahead and was hung up on three times so I gave up. Front desk is manned remotely - Office personnel hide away hoping this place doesn't self-combust. Or maybe hoping it does so they can collect the insurance. -I don't really want to come back.
The Best Western of Huron is the cleanest hotel in Huron. The beds are always nice and clean and so comfortable. The staff is always happy to help you if they can, you just have to ask, which isn't hard. It's worth the price when traveling with little ones, knowing the floors are clean, the rooms are clean, and there is juice and coffee available all day.
This hotel is good and the staff makes every effort to be accommodating. New front desk staff that was still learning. Check in took a while. The beds and pillows seem to have a lot of mileage on them. The main issue I have is the water pressure in the shower. It is low, but having stayed at other hotels in the area, they all appear to be the same.
The place is very rundown. It's not terrible But in Huron not alot of choices. Old food in the fridge, hair in the shower, holes in the tub where the grab handle was supposed to be. the water pressure was like using a camp bag shower. The word is MARGINAL AT VERY BEST. Same people also own the hotel across the street. I believe they are just running them without ever upgrading.
This is a $70-90 a night place at best. Paying $130 you expect a lot more than this. The bathroom tub had holes in it where a handle use to be and another hole in the side that was patched and looks terrible. There was also mold on the shower curtain and unprepared drywall. Then there is the noise. You hear traffic on the road all night long. Very loud. We also had problems with loud guests at 1am that the hotel people did not get under control for 40 minutes, then it stated back up again at 2am and then they finally called the police. Needless to say, if you want ANY sleep, find a different motel.
The hotel needs to be thoroughly cleaned and is short of help. The room I stayed in had a dingy, unclean atmosphere. The floors were dirty, and bathroom toilet seat was broken. The bathroom floor around the toilet was filthy.
It's ok at best Clean just very out dated and feels like it is run on a budget. Good location. Did not eat breakfast there so no opinion. Guy at check out was bad. Lobby was nice. Hallways need new carpet.
We stayed here for 1 night. The room was so dark and the lamp shaded were old and yellowed. We went out and bought lightbulbs so we could see our pizza we ordered. Just felt a little scary too. Breakfast the next morning was okay.
I stayed at Best Western for 2 weeks. The room was really nice. And there was one instant that kept recurring a couple of times which was ants at the transition between the bathroom and the carpeting but maintenance was able to take care of that right away. The room I had was really nice They had a Whirlpool in there with a nice four poster bed. The staff was friendly and willing to help their guests. I appreciate Josh for allowing me to use the breakfast area prior to scheduled opening. I would definitely stay here again. And I would recommend it.
We staying in Huron last weekend on a business trip. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. The king size bed we had in our room was worn, but we still slept fine. The hotel had an inside and outside door on the first floor. That was very useful!
The remodeled property is well kept and surprisingly clean. Rooms on the ground floor have an indoor and parking lot entrances so loading bags into the room is easy but going to breakfast is weather-free. The breakfast isn't fantastic but there's a nice variety of coffee, juices, pastries, waffles, etc. Not the Ritz but really no complaints. Run by nice people too.
Extremely disappointed with our stay, especially since we previously had good experiences here. Inexplicably, our room was not cleaned on one of the three nights of our stay, nor were towels replaced. The breakfast area was generally not clean and the garbage was not emptied for at least two days, resulting in overflowing condition. The entries and hallways were regularly dirty.
Knowing South Dakota's reputation for ignoring health safety, we searched for a hotel that had protocols. We even called to confirm they were following them. "If someone is not wearing a mask," he said, "it's just for a moment." That turned out to be 100% untrue. The man who checked us in wore no mask and then proceeded to sweep the common area, with no mask. When we discovered our TV didn't work, we called and were told us only he could reprogram it, so he came into our room, maskless, messed around with the remote then thrust it at my husband. Also, the TV was no bigger than a computer monitor and the picture did not even fill the screen. We have a below-average size TV at home, so we don't need anything big, but this was tiny. Also, to say the decor was old and tired is a kindness. Breakfast was nothing to brag about, either. The target market seems to be pheasant hunters. The location is convenient to several restaurants and a pharmacy/liquor store was right next door (and everybody in that store was masked up, by the way). If you stay at Best Westerns regularly, you will agree this property is not up to their usual standards. If you've never stayed at a Best Western, this property will keep you from ever doing so again.
The exercise facilities are a mile down the road - not onsite. Very low water pressure and some mold in the shower around the towel bar. Staff was mostly friendly and welcoming. Otherwise OK for a one night, passing-through stay.
A bit expensive for what you get compared to other Best Westerns. The layout however for our purposes was exceptional. Would recommend this for a sleep only place but not to spend too much time there unless you were pheasant hunting.
Working stay. Breakfast was average at best, stayed 3 nights one week day morning had no bread, ect. Shower had low water pressure, the bath towels are small and are like drying with sandpaper. Older hotel
I was only here one night on a business trip, and I did not know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very good, and I was pleased that the coffee was actually hot! I only have three gripes, which is why the hotel gets a 4 instead of a five. The bathroom fans were rather noisy and rattling. There is no elevator. Ice only on the first floor. (At least that I found.) I would stay here again.
Our first room had hair all in the bath tub. They moved us to a second room. Which I found a bee on the curtain which I'm highly allergic too. They were great at coming up to the room to help take care of that problwm
We stayed at this hotel while family reunion. This property has big rooms and big bathroom too. They served hot breakfast and they change some items every morning that was awesome, they have good parking facilities too. Definitely recommended.
Everything was up to date and clean. Bed was super comfortable and room was quite large. moderate priced This place beats the heck out of any other Motels in Huron. Breakfast was pretty good with an assortment of items. and let me say something about staff, Everyone was kind, and helpful.
great service for entire stay. we liked them service and we will come back again and again with them. room found very neat and clean. good job by staff and housekeeping team for our entire stay. excellent service & hospitality. Hot break fast is really very hot and delicious.
Friendly helpful staff who are even eager to know it there is anything they can do to improve the facility, even received a letter from the General manager saying he was would love to have a cup of coffee with us. That had never been done before to us. very clean room
The rooms were clean. The price of the room was a good value especially with the national promotion going on. The internet worked well. The hot tube not so well. We will stay here again next year. The had cleaning rags for my motorcycle.
We stayed here for 2 nights. We found the beds to be very comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful and the location convenient. As happens with older hotels, the maintenance budget is cut back. The shower handle came off in my hand and the caulking around the tub was not done by a professional. Just kind ot tells that it might be going downhill.
Enjoyed my stay. Staff was helpful and courteous. I am a repeat customer. Staff have often gone out of their way to be helpful.Room was comfortable and clean. Would recommend this motel to others needing a place to stay in Huron.
We like to stay here because it's accessible and has a good breakfast. However this stay was less enjoyable because they charged us an extra day when we paid for the room in cas in full when we checked in and they were told card was for reservation only.
Our family stayed here enroute to see Laura Ingalls Wilder in DeSmet. We got two connecting rooms for our large family and called and wrote a note with our online reservation. When we arrived the rooms were not connecting, but they cheerfully, quickly reassigned rooms. Both rooms that we stayed in were clean and nice sized. The breakfast was simple but filling with some eggs, fruits and bread, but the kids mostly filled up on yogurt and hot cocoa. Price was great, especially with the $20 gift card promotion that Best Western is offering. Would stay here again if traveling to DeSmet.
Nice hotel with very friendly staff. The breakfast was hot and stocked regularly. Decent selection as well. Internet works really good and the room was spacious. I encountered a small problem, however the staff took charge and took care of it right away! The building is a bit old but really this is a nice place and I will stay here again.
Second stay. Very nice place and clean rooms love the breakfast varieties they have. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They treat me like a family. Thanks best western to make me feel as home after long trip.will see you again in future.
Staff was super friendly and very accommodating.Breakfast was great. Clean rooms. I would stay there again. Only had a hot tub and no pool. But not a lot of choices in Huron, this place was simple and does the trick.
The room itself was comfortable. The staff was courteous but not attentive to requests. Breakfast I feel did not have even the basic staples. It lacked hot food ie: waffles or pancakes, fresh eggs, biscuits, gravy and or bacon and sausage. I did have hard boiled eggs. I inquired at the front desk that the shower head was not working properly. Water was coming out like a forceful at the shower head and by the time it reach the body to rinse soap of it was like a fine mist. Management did not bother to follow up with my concern. This the third time I have stayed at a Best Western brand hotel that it was not adequate. I have stayed at other Best Western hotels and they served a basic breakfast of hot food like waffles, biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage. It is possible that this hotel can do the same. There are other national brand hotels in Huron, SD that I feel have the basic breakfast components correct. The Wi-Fi was not very good either. But that is true for most hotels. I could easily stay here again if breakfast is better and the water coming from the shower head was better. The rates are reasonable and consistent with the other hotels in the area. Big Ish
Restful nights sleep. Reasonable prices- safe & quiet. Good breakfast and a great hot tub! Plenty of parking and places to eat within a short distance. Best western has great rewards too! Cannot wait for our next visit.
I have stayed in best western, Huron. when I was passing through the south Dakota. nice and clean hotel with nice decorated rooms. also plus point was they had a good breakfast in morning. which was helpful for me to start my day early on the road again.in breakfast they had plenty of choices to chose from. overall my stay was excellent. will stay here some time in future. highly recommend this place for people who passing through this area.
I had a positive experience at the Best Western in Huron. My room was on the first floor just down from the check-in desk. The room provided a exterior entrance and an interior entrance. During the evening the road noise was noticeable in the room but traffic developed dropped overnight. I did not have any issues falling asleep or staying asleep but I'm not a light sleeper. The nightstand had plenty of plugins which is great.
We enjoyed our stay very much, everything was nice and clean. The breakfast was awsome. Many food and drink items to select from. The location was perfect for walking to local businesses. Everyone was very friendly. We very much recommend staying here.
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with ample selection. Appearance of exterior and interior was good. Good price value. The only negative is some lingering cigarette smoke smell in the lobby and halls.
Got an amazing price for this very large room! $64/night, included sofa, kitchenette and large room. Haven't found anything even close to this quality at this price. Next closest hotel was $139/night.
Very courteous staff and excellent service. Appearance of hotel and rooms are great. Really enjoyed staying here. Cleaning staff does an superb job of keeping room to highest standards of cleanliness, hats off to them.
As you enter the front lobby you are greeted with Cigarette smoke...considering it is a Non-Smoking hotel. I believe it comes from the Residence behind the front desk. Rooms are highly out dated Water pressure in showers SUCK A complete re-model and some new paint/carpet fumigation would do this Hotel/Motel some good!
My stay was great. The king size bed was very comfortable and the staff was great. I forgot my toothbrush but the staff was very quick to help me out. The large Jacuzzi tub in the room was great and breakfast was great as well.
Nicest hotel in town. When you walk into lobby you see a China cabinet with local moments a nicely decorated lobby that is very inviting. Rooms are spacious including the bathroom that has a strong shower.Bedding very comfortable that helped me get a great nights sleep.Housekeeping does such a neat job on top of it. I chose a 1st floor room that had double access to hallway and parking space. Breakfast was made special with these fantastic large cinnamon sticky rolls with a caramel frosting so fresh. Staff was simply the best very helpful with directions or emailing your receipts.
Pillows could be updated , staff was very caring and had excellent service , close to Walmart , food , and downtown Huron . Breakfast was average , good cinnamon rolls , . Could use a good deep cleaning from the winter mess , if you need a good basic hotel this is it
The room was clean and the staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was good and the caramel rolls were a very big hit. Breakfast area was clean and the staff was monitoring consistently. We had a minor issue with our door and the staff handled this immediately.
I travel quite a bit. My stay at the Best Western in Huron SD exceeded my expectations. The staff was a delight to be around and recommended the best dining in town. The rooms had a outside and inside entrance. My quality of sleep was perfect. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Huron SD. Don't forget to taste one of the free monster Carmel rolls Thank you Best Western of Huron Lou
I stayed in Huron recently for a very long time — it felt like the town went through at least three seasons during my stay — and I weathered all of those seasons from my room on the second floor of the Best Western. It is probably the best lodging Huron has to offer. The rooms are clean. The breakfast is decent. The internet is fast. No real complaints. I even did the laundry. That was fine, too. It is definitely an early-rising hotel. The place is filled with pheasant hunters and construction workers, all of whom seem to congregate for breakfast by 6:10 a.m. If you aren't wearing camouflage or Carhartt, you will definitely stand out here — or anywhere in Huron, for that matter. The staff members are friendly, but they have the air of a forgetful family tending to a B&B during low season. Often, nobody is behind the front desk. Sometimes, if one peers through the door behind the front desk, there seems to be a group of friends back there, playing cards or shooting the breeze or just talking about pheasant hunting. But, it's never a problem to say “Hello,” and then a worker will assemble quickly with a smile. If that's the biggest problem with a hotel, so be it. The Best Western in Huron is a very adequate home too far away from home.
Loved staying in Huron with our large group to do some workshops and then have a day of hunting together. Really nice staff and awesome amenities. It is a great spot to stay if you are going hunting near the area and don't want to spend a huge portion of the day driving - stay in Huron!
Always look forward to staying here,,,,,great, friendly people. Breakfast is fantastic,,,,room is clean and comfortable Been staying here when in the area,,,always come back because I know what I'm getting and they appreciate my business,
Check in was easy and I was provided with my receipt right away so I didn't have to check out the next morning. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room I stayed in had a door to the parking lot and a door to the hallway so it was convenient to take things in from my car and also to go to breakfast without going out in the cold rainy weather. I love that there was a recliner in the room! The bathroom was roomy and the shower worked well. It was all around a very good experience!
For Huron, this hotel is the best. It was clean, newly refinished and the staff was polite and professional. I would recommend staying at this hotel if you need to spend the night in Huron. In my future business trips to Huron, I will stay at the Best Western Huron.
I stayed here for one night for a business trip, staff was helpful, room was clean. There was an actual recliner in the room, which made the stay more relaxing. I also noticed convenient outside entrances to some of the lower level rooms. Which is a nice feature for hunters.
There is brown water that comes out of the faucet . Housekeeping staff cannot read the do not disturb sign on your door . Hotel lost reservation and was without a room for one night. Did not offer any type of service to rectify their mistake.
When we checked in, lobby very sparse and weren't sure about breakfast, which was included. Would advise you to get upstairs as insulation quite thin. We were downstairs and heard everything. Room was clean.
Every area of the hotel looked very nice and modern. It was very clean. Employees were very friendly, and the continental breakfast was good with a larger selection. My one complaint would be that my bed was very uncomfortable. There were two queen bed's and the other bed was Ok.
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very motorcycle friendly. They allowed parking under canape and supplied rage for cleaning up the bike. The only draw back was the lobby and hallways had some smell of stale cigarette smoke.
Yes, there is a hot tub in the bedroom--and after getting there (from Houston to Denver to Sioux Falls to Huron) I needed the TLC tub. Four poster bed, ironing board & iron, little kitchen, little fridge, microwave. We asked to extra pillows, more hangers, etc. etc... Staff would not take TIPS offered. Breakfast needs a little work. Would stay there again if I ever need to be in the middle of nowhere. All in all, a pleasant surprise.
There were quite a few incidences that happened during our stay. First the positives... the beds were very comfortable. The air-conditioning worked well. The high-speed internet was functional. On the negative side, all of our lamps had been unplugged and then replugged into the wrong outlets so none of them turned on. The phone was completely unplugged from the wall. This could have been from the previous guests though. Our tub drain took an hour to drain from a 15 minute shower. We also found a tube of chapstick next to the bed which made us question the cleanliness of the room.
Updated, clean & comfy, breakfast was just as expected, the staff was great and it was an easy drive to the fairgrounds. The only negatives were the internet didn't have great reception in my room and it was a bit noisy. I could hear people going up and down the hall on the level above me. Overall, I would definitely stay here again!!
We've tried them all and have found this to be the best hotel in Huron. The facility is the nicest and best kept-up, the staff is the friendliest, the breakfast is the best, etc.! We always try to stay here whenever we are in the area!
Whole place smelled like smoke. Dirty carpet. Breakfast not fresh. Cooling unit didn't work correctly - couldn't get the fan to run continually on that setting. Cleaning staff made us leave room to clean - wouldn't come back when we left for the day and we were there for 4 nights. (Wanted to clean at 9:30 am - feel sorry for those when check out is 11 am!)
The Gentleman who checked me in after Midnight was super friendly, talkative, and made me feel at home. The free breakfast spread had a nice variety of items available; eggs, biscuits and gravy, french toast and more. WiFi in the room was very responsive and had good speed. The room itself was quite comfortable. Bottom line, I'd stay here again.
We've stayed here the last few times we've been in Huron visiting family. It's not a fancy place, but the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast works for us. A couple of favorite amenities are that you can use the Nordby Center for working out and they have a meeting room that we've used for family get-togethers.
Managment sucked. The hotel reeked of smoke. Dirty. Everything was broken. The heating unit kicked in like every 30 seconds and sounded like a freight train. The only good part of my stay was leaving.
I woke up to a bed bug feeding on me. It will be hard for me to return to this property even though I was treated sympathetically. The clerk refunded my charges and would have the manager contact me. It's been 24hours as of this writing and I have not heard from the manager yet.
Stayed here last time I was in Huron. It's on the edge of town, but things are being built around it. Pretty nice hotel for a budget brand. People in Huron are pretty friendly and this extends to the Best Western. Good staff aand good prices.
Had a great experience with all three desk people that worked. They were energetic and cheerful. The breakfast set up was very inviting and the food was excellent. I liked the ability to control my own heat. It was perfect.
The staff at this BW are the nicest people to get you through a busy day. they are friendly and helpful to find a place to eat in a great little town. The room was clean and the bed was great. I well stay there again when I go to Huron.
Friendly staff and nice rooms- but you can tell the place is used by hunters with dogs. Room didn't overtly smell, but there was a hunting dog smell near the bed and the wall. Advised the staff and they said they would do a deep clean after we left. I believe that they will. Gd 1-ply again.
We only were traveling through and stayed one night. The desk clerk saw that we were on a motorcycle, and moved us to a first floor room with an external door. Nice for carrying luggage without wheels, and to watch our bike. Room was clean, as was the entire hotel. Breakfast was good, with a pretty good selection of hot items, French toast, scrambled eggs, or biscuits and gravy. This was nice, as I get tired of waffles. Also they pointed out the local restaurants and bars which were also nice. We stayed here a year ago, and if anything the hotel has improved. Also, the bed was very comfortable.
This was a good place to stay for the things we need to do in the area. The staff was cordial and went out of their way to help. The breakfast was excellent, especially the caramel rolls. They also let us park our motorcycles under the canopy to protect them.
A very clean pleasant place to stay. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold items. Very good value with AARP membership. We especially appreciated the plastic bag of motorcycle cleaning rags available upon check.
I really thought this was one of the better deals we got on our trip to Colorado. The building itself was modern and up to date. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Riding our motorcycles the front desk staff allowed us to park under their awning. That was a nice touch. It is in a good location for food and gas. I would stay there again
The front desk staff and the motel accomodations are very nice. Will stay here again. Also, they offer free passes to the Nordby recreation facility which is close by, and a great place to work out. I also enjoyed the morning breakfast. The room was clean and very comfortable. A nice place to stay while you are in Huron, SD.
My sick friend and I booked a room with an outside entrance for easy access. When we opened the door, there was a recliner! Steve, the owner of this Best Western, told me that all the king rooms have one. To us, it was heaven sent. My friend was able to relax and rejuvenate in the quiet room complete with cable and wifi. Everyone was very friendly and so accommodating. We will be booking again soon for our next gathering.
when I'm in Huron , I always stay at this hotel. The staff is very helpful and they seem to go out of their way to help if you have questions. The rooms are very comfortable and some have an exit door to the parking lot. The location is great......there's a grocery store just across the street. There's a pharmacy just down the street. there are restaurants very near by and there's a straight shot on Dakota Ave to downtown Huron.. I will definitely stay there again when I'm next in Huron.
This is somewhere between poor to average for a best western When you first step in the lobby, be ready to get smack in the face with an overwhelming smell of smoke. The rooms are okay. The bed was arranged like maybe someone forgot to arrange the pillows or something. It is clean enough, but not the greatest. They do have a mini refrigerator and microwave. If this is the best in Huron, then I would be nervous to see what the hotels look like.
I stayed here for 3 nights. I was a little concerned when the first thing I saw was an "out of order" sign on a Coke machine, then on one of the rest rooms off the main lobby. There was another on the spa which looked as if they might be upgrading it. The building appeared to be older, however, the room was comfortable and the furnishings seemed newish. Good television, there was a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in the room. Housekeeping was a bit sloppy, after using 2 of the styrofoam coffee cups the first night they were removed but none left to use the following night. Same thing the next day after I had gone to the lobby for new cups. They do offer to not change sheets for environmental reasons (a good thing) but tossed a bar of soap and remaining shampoo which seems to defeat the purpose of conservation. WiFi was slow but it did work. Breakfast seemed a little below what I normally find. Scrambled eggs, thin french toast and gravy plus various cereals and stuff to put in a toaster. Certainly in the acceptable range. Located on a main north/south highway and about a mile south of a main east/west highway.
Nice atmosphere and good breakfast. I usually do not sleep well in hotel beds but I slept all night long in this one. TV does swivel so can see it wherever in the room. They do have comfortable easy chair in the room to sit on. Also shower had good pressure, tub in high sides which does make it harder to get into.
There are few options in Huron. Based on reviews, this hotel is about the best option. I stayed there for three days. The hotel must have been a motel with smoking once upon a time. The mail floor rooms still have exterior entrance which I'm never very comfortable with. The room was very noisy both from above and from the highway outside my door. The hotel had been remodeled, but the smoke smell is still there. The morning breakfast was ok. There was no milk the first morning which seemed odd. The milk the second morning was nearly expired and tasted of plastic. The shower needed a new shower head as very little water was able to get through the nozzle. The staff was friendly and offered free passes to the local gym...definitely a welcome surprise.
Older hotel but clean and comfortable. Did not see any fitness equipment, but when I inquired at the desk, they gave me a pass to local fitness center. Breakfast was ok, not a very big selection. Overall not bad for the price.
Clean rooms. found lighting a bit dim. Great breakfast - much more than continental. Good location, services within walking distance. We found the staff very helpful - whether asking questions/referrals to local businesses, and out of the ordinary service - like calling us before our arrival to ensure the room booked (smoking) was what we wanted.
This is a nice motel. It is not fancy, but it is clean which means a lot. Breakfast is complimentary. It is easy to locate as is on the Main Street through Huron. Staff is pleasant and friendly. They have an outside door for some of the rooms which is convenient.
BW Huron is a great place to stay if you are looking for an economical, comfortable and clean place to stay. The desk staff are awesome and continuously go the extra mile to help guests. The breakfast is average and the coffee is hot. If your looking for a place with all the bells and whistles, this might not be for you, but, if your looking for a nice comfortable place to sleep that won't break the bank, then this is the place to go!!!
The motel is located right on the main street going through the middle of town. The staff was very pleasant. The room was quiet. They were very accommodating when I requested a room on the main floor. Breakfast was available with lots of choices. It was not a fancy motel but was very nice. I plan to stay here whenever I am in Huron on business.
We stayed as a group for an event in town. Staff were accommodating of us gathering in the lobby and having children around. The rooms were dated in appearance. There was no pool which was disappointing, but there was a small hot tub. The rooms had little noise so it was a quiet environment. The rooms were clean.
This is a nice hotel that offers a business rate. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. You need to reheat your breakfast in the microwave, because it usually isn't warm enough. The internet does work in the rooms.
love staying here the staff is great and they know our names and we know theirs. Never have any issues. Calling and booking a room is always easy and they know exactly what we need when we call. great staff
The room smelled and I doubt it was truly cleaned. There was a red straw on the carpet in plain site with a lot of particles which is an indication the carpet was not vacuumed. In addition, a pillowcase had "red" blood stains and the sheets had hair. The bathtub was full of hair as well as the floor. The vanity top felt gritty and had dried water stains so I am guessing this was not cleaned either. I cleaned things myself as I doubt another room would probably be just as dirty.
Hotel very nice. Hot tub room and 4 poster bed especially nice. we have stayed here many times in the past and have always been happy. Breakfast also very good and very many choices.. would recommend highly and will stay again
This hotel is a quaint place in a quaint town that is perfect for a short or long stay. The sauna was nice, and the breakfast was delicious. Beds are comfy, and the staff is friendly. Such a nice place to relax after business.
The overall score would be 6 out ten at best. When I first walked in the lobby it smelt like smoke and burning sage. The desk help was very friendly and told me of a great steak house walking distance from the hotel. When I got to my room, it had smelt like a pair of dirty socks had been laying around for a month, therefore all of my clothes smelled the same when I left. I was given an older room. The heat/air supply was working but noisy. The showers were luke warm, with a shower head that had no pressure, but the bed was very comfortable and had no problems sleeping once I got past the initial smell. The price range was the same as the rest of the Best Western hotels in the state that I have stayed in. But given the appearance of the room and the odor, it could have been a little cheaper.
Clean room, very accommodating front desk. Let us park our motorcycles right outside the lobby where they could keep an eye on them. Breakfast was good. They have both smoking and non smoking rooms so make sure you request accordingly as the first room they gave us was a smoking room and upon entering it we knew we weren't staying in it. Smoke would nearly knock you down. Only real downside was it's a bit pricey and they don't give any discounts (AARP/AAA etc.) during "Pheasant hunting" season so finding a room in South Dakota in late October/November is a challenge. Dogs and hunters everywhere.
The first night in my room, the sheets on the bed were dirty...very dirty. Luckily, they leave the door open to the housekeeping storage room so I was able to find clean sheets at night and made the bed with them. The shower curtain had a lot of mold. Otherwise the place was average but I have to give it a poor rating due to the dirty sheets and mold. The staff was polite but I will stay somewhere else next time because of the cleanliness issues.
Good, clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable. Arrived late, but they accommodated anyway. Breakfast was acceptable. Location is on the main strip, within walking distance of downtown, and most restaurants. Would recommend for a stay in Huron SD.
I walk through the front door to check in and I was created by a dog. Not exactly the first thing I'd like to see when entering the hotel I'm about to stay in. The nonsmoking room smelled like it used to be a smoking room and also smelled like a cheap shaving cream. The shower curtain was filthy. I couldn't find the channel listing and decided to check the desk drawer. I found a playboy, penthouse and hustler magazine. I will not be back.
We were very impressed with the beautiful furnishings in our room. The king bed had a very comfortable mattress and the jaccuzzi tub and solid mahogany furniture was truly beautiful. When we arrived the check in desk and breakfast room were not very impressive, so I was a little worried even though it is AAA approved, but we were very pleasantly surprised when we entered our room.
I stayed there with a co-worker for two nights. Everything was okay for the first night and the first day. However, the second night, there was a thunderstorm that came through while we were out to dinner. When we got back to the room, the A/C unit wasn't working. When I went to check on it. the floor around the unit was wet and when I pulled back the curtains, the window ledge had a good amount of water. My co-worker had put her bags on the floor by the unit and her bags were wet enough that some of her clothes were wet. We notified the front desk and received little assistance (they said they could not give us a new room, due to all of the rooms being booked and the front desk staff did not know anything about the A/C unit, nor did they offer a fan for the evening) and we were not comped or partially refunded for the night. We ended up drying my co-worker's clothes around the room and then went down to the front desk to ask for towels, so we could clean up the room before going to bed.
it was ok for the money, beds not too comfy. nothing for the kiddos to do, breakfast was ok, close to food. air conditioner a little loud. pillows a little hard. We have stayed in nicer Best Western Hotels
Motorcyclists ruin the peace of early mornings when the Sturgis event is near time. They ruin the parking by taking up a place (or two) (they could double up). Most have a friendly attitude. Many do not, they are either drunk, hung over or foul mouthed (these are in the minority.
