"Amazing "
Madhatter25300, 29 Juillet 2018

Well this little gem city was recommended by one of our expat UK group on Facebook! What a find. We arrived quite late or should I say early in the morning thanks to Useless Eurotunnel (excuse this time was “too warm” in the carriages) No issues someone was there at 02:00 to give us our key! Great breakfast in the morning that set the welcome. We ate 2 nights in a row in the hotel after having issues in another restaurant due to allergen contamination. This was the best choice we ever made. Great service, excellent food and we're both really pleased with our evenings here. Highly recommend especially the view of the river and the castle from the balcony.

"Great room with a view"
Julian L, 10 Juillet 2018

Stayed for a few days as a base to see the Tour de France. Great hotel in an exceptional location right next to the river. We booked a river view room and woke up each morning to views of the sun on the castle ruins across the river - fantastic. The hotel has a small pool and secure parking nearby which was a bonus.

"Two visits; Like two different hotels - part 2"
Joanne H, 04 Juillet 2018

Having had a fabulous stay on the way to Bordeaux, we decided to stay here again on the return journey. Although I had booked the same category room, I was given a room that was about half the size of the first one, the bed was only a standard double size, rather than two beds pushed together. The carpet in the room was so disgusting I didn't want to walk on it and the bathroom was really small. It was just as if I had booked a completely different hotel! When I challenged the staff at Reception I was told that the room was the same category but it had not been refurbished, and as they were full I wouldn't be able to move. After a great holiday unfortunately I have been left with a bit of a sour taste now from this hotel, so if I do stay again, I'll be sure to specify which rooms I DON'T want!

"One night stop"
wendywoodland, 24 Juin 2018

Very helpful staff made us and our dog most welcome. Very comfortable and clean room and secure parking for the car.

"An accidental find but what a find"
Patrick L, 29 Mai 2018

No booking but we were given a lovely room, excellent bathroom, comfy bed, all well maintained and clean. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The town seems lovely sadly ferry times did not allow us the pleasure of exploring or to sample the breakfast. Next time when going to St Malo or Caen we will make more of the opportunity to see the town and enjoy the hotel and restaurant.

"Two visits; like two different hotels - part 1"
Joanne H, 01 Avril 2018

A welcome stopover on the way to Bordeaux. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and after checking in and getting to our room, had a welcome beer on the terrace outside overlooking the castle. It's a stunning view. The hotel is clean and comfortable but certainly not luxurious. The view from our room, room 20 was also fabulous, with the same castle view and the river. We had dinner in the restaurant which was rather overpriced I felt and we were rushed through our courses without adequate time in between. Perfect for a one night stay.

"Wonderful view!"
VenturaVoyager, 18 Mars 2018

I stayed at this hotel with a friend on a driving trip through France. It was our favorite hotel of the trip. We had a room overlooking the river and the castle, with big windows that opened up. At night the castle was lit up with changing colors. In the daytime people were eating and drinking at the outdoor restaurant and kayakers paddled in the river. We could easily walk to the historic town and the castle. Such a lovely village!

"Best best western "
Lauraroll, 17 Octobre 2017

Great hotel in small village plus it has secure parking, staff great, rooms clean comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast excellent, but the best was the evening meal , we stayed for two nights and ate their twice , as end of season and restaurants outside appeared to have closed for the season. We were not disappointed, excellent presentation , fabulous food really really food. The Cote de boeuf for two stunning. Well done the chef and the team .

"Lovely setting shame about (most of) the staff"
littlewelshvet, 11 Octobre 2017

Beautiful setting across the river from the old chateau and plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Shame about the rude attitude of the majority of the staff. One young man on reception and one young girl serving in the restaurant plus the cleaning staff were really good but the others were rude and ignorant. The car park is ridiculously small for the size of hotel but is very secure.

"Hotel"
allanpreston1969, 02 Octobre 2017

Brilliant hotel wonderful location right on the river I had a great view of the castle from my room, simple menu but food is wonderful the rooms are spacious and very clean, great hotel been 4 times and will go again

"Great find in small town"
kalee s, 18 Septembre 2017

I chose this hotel as a pit stop between locations and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and town of Clisson. Our room was great with a gorgeous view of the Castello Clisson and river. Bathroom, bed & size of the room were all excellent. The little town was very nice to explore for a day. The small bar across the road was a great little spot for an afternoon drink and snack

"Great Location - Shame about the restaurant staff...."
woolleyram, 14 Septembre 2017

On the positive side this restaurants location cannot be faulted. We were lucky to be in Clisson during some very fine weather and the terrace overlooking the river and castle is perfect for afternoon drinks. The pool is great too, not large but big enough to cool down in and relax after a day sight seeing/wine tasting. Due to holiday closures we did have to eat at the restaurant one night. After earlier reviews we didn't particularly want to do this but there was no other option really. Again the setting on the terrace was great but the staff really are not managed well. We sat for the whole duration of our meal surrounded by tables full of dirty plates and glasses from previous diners. One table was not cleared in over 3 hours... amazing really. I don't like to criticise too much but this does need addressing as they are letting down an excellent chef. The food was very good.

"Great hotel with an amazing view and superb resturant"
ThereseTheTraveller, 07 Septembre 2017

Every year in June I have the pleasure to stay at this amazing hotel. The rooms are renovated and has a clean design, with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. Only thing missing is a mini fridge otherwise tip top! The resturant is great, some of the best food I have had in France has been eaten here surprisingly enough. But the best selling point here is the AMAZING view of the Castello Clisson and the location of the hotel right on the river. Super cute town filled with amazing architecture and great restaurants and wine selection

"Gorgeous hotel & setting but dining staff let it down"
Family5London, 27 Août 2017

We have just returned from a 3 night break in Clisson and stayed here en route to the South of France. The hotel itself is lovely, in the most beautiful setting - the views are truly breathtaking. Our 2 rooms were clean and modern & the hotel has a lovely little pool with a pretty dining room/terrace. Our only issue was our dining experience. Dinner was a disaster. We were constantly ignored and waited forever just to get a drink. There was constant confusion over our order and the food when it arrived was really poor (I'd definitely recommend eating elsewhere) Such a shame as its a lovely setting. Thank god for one young man who couldn't have been more helpful & sorted everything out for us. Breakfast on our first day was a joke! We arrived about 9.40 (breakfast finishes at 10) so that was our first mistake I guess! Basically, there were no plates, no coffee left, no fruit, no juice, no cutlery, no anything!! We kept asking for a plate. None came. There were boiled eggs but no egg cups or spoons! The woman looked very rushed but rather annoyed that we were asking for things. The next day we arrived earlier & it was fine, so maybe it was just because we arrived later on the first day. Overall, lovely place. Gorgeous setting. Just maybe eat out!

"One star too many"
Sugarkanek, 22 Août 2017

So - we stayed here for three nights on our way to the South of France. The hotel is great with excellent views and secure parking. But what brought it down was the terrible attitude of the staff... We (4 - my Mum and Dad, my 4 year old son and I) sat on a table for 5 and were made to feel like we should move tables. We asked for some water and forks for our room and the French waitress was rude (in French) believing we couldn't hear. We arrived at 9.50 for breakfast and was "greeted" by a waitress who simply said the buffet closed at 10 - no hello or niceties. My son dropped a knife in the open air restaurant and the waitress picked up the dirty knife from the floor and gave it back to him. It's such a shame as the hotel is otherwise great, and the town is beautiful.

"Fabulous views"
jelsegood, 17 Août 2017

We stayed at this Best Western for 2 weeks. Our room was small and was not designed for the traveller with little room for luggage. Shower only no bath. Breakfast was not included in the base price. Staff were excellent and most spoke English. Perfect position in town. We ate a good breakfast each morning and had lunch and dinner there at least twice. Lots of restaurants in town with a lot of variety. One thing to remember the French have lunch 12 til 2 and 7:30 onwards for dinner. Nothing open for afternoon snackers or anyone wanting an early meal.

"Great views"
John A, 16 Août 2017

Stayed for 3 nights. Secure parking abount 30m away. Looks like the property has been refurbished fairly recently. There were 4 of us,2 adults and 2 teenagers sharing a large attic room which had plenty of space. Views were of the castle and river which were fantastic. The hotel has a large terrace overlooking the river and castle, a very good spot to eat or have a drink. Staff were all pleasant enough at reception, but not overly friendly. We did not eat at the hotel, but the restaurant was always very busy. A bonus was the pool. However, on the day we sat by it, it was very hot and with only about 8-10 sun loungers and not much room, there is not much space for guests to enjoy if not down early. Not too much in the village, but plenty of restaurants.

"Good base to explore"
Mark E, 15 Août 2017

We spent two nights here and had booked a room overlooking the river. The room was well appointed including a wet room and plenty of space. We had a terrace for two as well. Service was good and the staff printed off train times to Nantes for us. The station is a 15 min walk and the train takes 20-30 mins into Nantes. There was loads of parking and it had a good restaurant too. Breakfast is expensive as usual in hotels in France - we walked up the village 10 mins and had coffee at a Tabac with crossaints from the bakery. Next to no money by comparison. There are also river activities and a castle to visit and enough restaurants to eat away from the hotel. None open on a Monday though.

"Loved it"
Paul C, 21 Juillet 2017

Two couples stayed for two nights. We had lovely rooms, one with a balcony cost 10 euros a night more. If we had experienced better weather it would definitely have been worth it. We are in the restaurant one night which was excellent. 15 minute walk to the train station for a brilliant day out in Nantes. Clisson is gorgeous.

"Excellent overnight stop"
Candor-Kernow, 05 Juillet 2017

We stayed here overnight on route to the Dordogne. The hotel was very clean and comfortable in a marvellous setting. We ate outside in the evening on a very pleasant terrace. The food was excellent, as was the breakfast the next morning. We hope to return to this hotel to have a good look around Clisson.

"Great location"
Thea H, 05 Juillet 2017

Clisson is a quant town set on a hillside with a fantastic chateau ruin. Our room had a balcony overlooking the beautiful bridge, river and view of the substantial castle. We enjoyed riverside walks, excellent breakfasts in the hotel restaurant with views, and a couple of delicious evening meals there too. There is secure parking. The decor is rather plain but rooms are spacious/clean and staff are helpful/friendly. Places of interest/beauty nearby.

"Modern Hotel opposite the Castle"
27johnh, 05 Juillet 2017

This newly refurbished hotel is rather characterless (white and grey scheme with no colours). Next to the river in the centre of town and opposite the Castle, the position is stunning. It's worth paying for a balcony facing the Castle. The buffet breakfast has plenty of choice and is unlimited in quantity. The formule dinner menu is good quality. It was poor service to contact us after we'd left to claim a further 20 Euros to correct for the receptionist's mistyping on the card machine.

"Great Hotel"
F O, 26 Juin 2017

We stayed here on the way to a festival nearby, and was very impressed! Hotel was clean and lovely, rooms were well designed, complete with awesome shower room and AC. Restaurant was very nice too, good view of the castle... Overall very happy with this hotel

"The Staff and the View"
johnelse, 26 Mai 2017

We recently stayed 13 days at this Hotel. Although our room was small it was functional. The Breakfast was excellent, the view spectacular and all of the staff in this hotel worked as a team and went out of their way to assist. We had both Lunch and Dinner and the Chef alway prepares excellent food. Clisson is very busy most weekends so book well ahead for your stay or meals.

"A short break in the Loire"
moorman783, 21 Mars 2017

We booked this hotel as part of a Brittany ferries short break. The hotel is part of the Best Western franchise. All the friendly and accommodating staff speak very good english and are very friendly. The hotel is set on the banks of a major river with the chateau opposite, an idyllic location. the room allocated was small and didn't have a direct view of the river and chateau but we were happy to upgrade to a much larger room with a direct view and balcony for only 10 euros per day. There is a free elctronic barrier controlled car park opposite the hotel. We only ate the breakfast at the hotel since we were out travelling all day. The only drawback is that Clisson is very small and if sightseeing is your intention you will need to travel. We cant fault the hotel or accommodation and staff but for us it was perhaps not the best choice of location.

"Great spot "
LM J, 21 Janvier 2017

Stayed here for 3 nights and although only slept and had breakfast, it was great. Lovely location and so quiet. Our stay was middle of winter but the room was toastie warm and large enough for the three of us.

"One night business "
mazzle2015, 08 Décembre 2016

What a great gem! Beautiful place in the center of Clisson, view on the castle. The room is nice size, bathroom clean and nicely equipped. Staff very helpful and friendly Room service was quick and excellent Buffet breakfast is excellent, best i have seen in a while and I travel a lot! Home made things, french fruits, choice of reds and various cakes and still with view on the castle... Not far from Nantes really worth for business stay away from madness of towns. Highly recommended and I will go back.

"Beautiful Clisson"
laurence s, 26 Septembre 2016

Great hotel, beside the river in Clisson. Service good and food not bad. If you get a river view room then fab view of the castle. Small town so doesn't take much time to see it. Nice restaurants nearby.

"Heaven on a stick, opposite the castle"
Jonathan S, 24 Septembre 2016

After a longish drive from the ferry at St Malo, we arrived at this fairytale location on a sunlit Saturday evening. We parked the car in the private hotel car park, with its electric security gate, and checked in with no problems. Our room was spacious, slightly funky and had a sensational view overlooking the river and impressive castle on the other side. The staff were charming at all times and as a newly refurbished hotel, this is well worth a visit. Pity we were only staying one night - it would have made a great base for a week's touring.

"Stopover on the way to Bordeaux"
Joanne H, 20 Septembre 2016

We booked this hotel as a stopover on the way to Bordeaux, so it was perfect for one night. On arrival we were able to unload our bags outside, before parking in the hotel car park in an adjacent street. The receptionist was on the phone when we arrived and made no attempt to say, "just a moment" which I felt was a little unacceptable, but the check-in was quick, and when we got to our room we had a little balcony overlooking the castle. The room was fairly large and the bed was a good size being 2 singles pushed together. The bathroom was clean and modern if a little dark. We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal of steak frites followed by a platter of local cheese. While we were looking at the menu the friendly bar staff recommended some local wine to have with our meal, and also showed us a couple of wineries on a map that we could visit the following day.

"Very Pleasant"
Nicola M, 19 Septembre 2016

The hotel has gorgeous views of the town and sits on a river bank. Clean and what you'd expect from a Best Western hotel. Lacking a little in personality but the accomodation was lovely and very well located.

"Wonderful location in Clisson"
PIGGOTTS, 08 Septembre 2016

Delightful hotel in a wonderful location. Our 1st floor room was very spacious and nicely presented. Well equipped for our needs. Private balcony with great views across the river to the castle ruin (certainly worth paying a little extra for the balcony rooms). Very peaceful and relaxing. Nice terrace to enjoy dinner and drinks. Staff at reception were friendly and efficient. Secure free parking. Free Wifi. Small outdoor pool. The location is truly lovely and would really suit someone who just wants to relax for a day or two. Selection of good little restaurants with a few moments stroll (sadly all closed during our visit). Steep walk up to the castle ruin and town but well worth exploring. Only 35 mins drive from Nantes airports. Would love to return.

"Superb Position "
Southernpence, 07 Septembre 2016

The hotel is situated right on the river Sevre in the old part of the town which is absolutely charming. Cannot understand previous comments regarding staff attitudes, we experienced nothing but smiles and helpfulness from all the various staff members we came across. Hotel was very modern and comfortable, our room overlooked the terrace and river and we did not hear any noise from either as the double glazing was very good and we used the air conditioning whilst we were there as the temperatures were in the low thirties. Only criticism of our room was the basin in the bathroom- a round glass bowl which was too far away from the tap so when you went to wash, water went everywhere. Very good choice at breakfast and dishes were continually replenished. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, the first night it was closed due to a wedding and on the second night we wanted to try a restaurant we had seen earlier. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The secure parking was just opposite and free. There is a lovely park within 5 minutes walk of the hotel plus a swimming pool at the hotel. We only stayed two nights on our way south but would definitely stay again and recommend it as a good place to stay.

"What a Jem"
John D, 21 Août 2016

Can't believe our luck in finding this wonderful place to stay. Clisson is picture postcard pretty and the hotel is smack in the middle between the river the bridge and the Chateaux. Newly refurbished, this hotel was perfect for our family travelling down to the South of France. Lovely location. Superb accommodation and make sure you eat in the hotel the food is superb. Great hotel and the ice cream shop across the road is pretty cool as well

"Beautiful location and property, would visit again"
coral_1223, 07 Août 2016

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday night with our little dog and were very impressed. First, the good: The location is fabulous and right in the historic center. You can see the castle and the Sevre from the property. Location can't be beat. It's central and very well maintained -- rooms were modern, spacious and clean. Wifi worked. The restaurant on the property is a nice plus and the terrasse is great for apero. They also allow dogs for a nominal fee and that was part of the reason we booked it. The restaurant had a nice menu and was reasonably priced. Free parking too. To be improved: The woman at reception wasn't overly friendly or welcoming. She was fine but didn't go above and beyond by any means. Some of the flavors were a miss at the restaurant. Duck with a grapefruit sauce was slightly odd and could have been served without the sauce. Would have liked a larger breakfast menu selection with maybe pancakes or yogurt or sausage. Also, there was loud music late into the evening. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to ask for a room that has a street view instead of a restaurant/pool view. I don't know if it's customary, but on our Saturday night stay, there was loud music on the terrasse until about 1am despite there being no customers out there. You can shut the window though. Overall, excellent stay. 4.5 out of 5 for me. Good value, I'd be back!

"So so "
libbyp73, 25 Juillet 2016

Stayed here recently on a stopover. Our room was fine, nothing extravagant but for the price it was very suitable. Restaurant was also OK, our waitress was really lovely and friendly and made the kids feel very welcome but in my option the food was overpriced and over complicated. Breakfast next morning was continental but nothing special. The town itself is absolutely beautiful and the hotel has one of the best views, get a river view room if you can. Perfectly suitable as a stopover but with the dinner it made it quite an expensive stopover for the night.

"Travelling hotel"
Peter H, 24 Juillet 2016

The hotel was clean and comfortable, but it is a hotel for using as a touring stop, rather than a lengthier stay. The room was adequate, but a function of style over substance, for example, no moveable plug in the washbasin meant that you had to run water. The shower, whilst impressive, was inadequately shielded from the rest of the room. The restaurant menu, whilst using fresh food, was very pretentious. There were far better restaurants in the town. The breakfast did not include all the elements (e.g. cooked ham / bacon) every morning, despite charging the same. It did provide a good choice, though. Finally, changing the Wi-Fi code and car park code weekly, makes good sense from a security point of view. However, not informing the residents until they discover the problem is not acceptable. The parking was secure.

"Beautiful location"
Etmo89, 23 Juillet 2016

The hotel is situated right along the river with beautiful views of the castle. Finding the hotel by car is not easy but doable with GPS. The car park is close to the hotel by going through some narrow old town streets. You will need a code to enter the car park. Rooms are nice with minimalist design, air condition and wifi working well. Only bad part is the design of the bathroom, impossible to use without getting water everywhere. I also recommend checking the bed. We had ants in the bed and this may have been an one off occurrence. Food was good and sitting on the terrace was extremely pleasant. We liked that one can order dishes to share that was reasonably priced and a large portion for two, e.g. Fried fish. Only downside is the service. Somewhat abrupt, not service oriented at all. It would be perfect if the personnel were all more friendly. Not even a smile or good morning at the check out of the hotel, leaving our group feeling like a bother to the staff. This is why we are leaving an average rating.

"ROMANTIC PLACE ON THE WAY TO BRITTANY"
Gert L, 21 Juillet 2016

Its a great place to stay along the river Sévre nantaise with an outstanding view on the strategic Clisson castle, built between 11th century and 15th century. The walk around the chateau is a must indeed and the village is worth the visit. The rooms are air conditioned and really tastefully decorated .The staff is very nice. We have a free secure parking at about 30 m from the place. Its is worth to have dinner too as the food is excellent with various choices.Fair wine list as well.Breakfast nice too. I stayed 2 times in this place already and will definitely return. Best value in Clisson

"Great hotel excellent location."
Dylan J, 14 Juillet 2016

Clisson is a beautiful riverside town with many good hotels and restaurants. The Villa Saint-Antoine has arguably the best location of the lot. It overlooks both the castle and the river. Our room was incredibly spacious and well-equipped. There is a heated outdoor poo, and excellent terrace. We only had breakfast but it was of a standard comparable with the facilities. My only moan was that two of the lights in the bathroom we're not working and nothing was done about it during our stay.

"Lovely setting and great breakfast"
Michael826, 30 Juin 2016

We had an overnight stop at this great hotel en route to The Dordogne. The hotel is in a great location right by the weir and the river with lovely views. Sadly the weather wasn't good at all during our stay but that didn't stop us enjoying the hotel! Our air conditioned room was excellent and we had a very good meal at the hotel that evening. The breakfast the following morning set us up for our long journey south. An excellent choice and good quality food. There is a car park opposite the hotel which is secure at night which we were delighted with as we left luggage in the car overnight. We just wished we could have explored this lovely town a little more in the sunshine.

"lovely position in charming town"
magsrich, 27 Juin 2016

comfortable bed, room small but good, restaurent really great. all by the river and views of old Abbey This hotel did not disappoint and we wished our visit was longer, really good breakfast and a lovely evening meal

"lovely town and hotel in great position"
Glendeyne, 20 Juin 2016

Very comfortable hotel with good parking across the road. Situated on the weir so the noise from the water was deafening but completely disappeared with the window closed and there was air conditioning. Food was quite good and staff reasonably good. We had wanted to use the pool but it was closed as the water was not up to standard. Clisson was a delightful town with lots of lovely walks and views. We also found some good cycle routes near Mouzillon. Ate in a very nice restaurant called KILBUS up the castle.

"Charming location by the river bank"
Xevi C, 07 Juin 2016

The place may not look like much from the outside and in fact almost collides with the old feel of this little village but inside is a mix of modern and creative. Double glassing windows eliminate the not so disturbing but indeed loud running water just meters away from our rooms. Although the receptionist was not overflowing with warmth - and I could hear a quite hard conversation going in the phone - our stay was wonderful. I would recommend this place for its location and nice design.

"Great! "
Yanic S, 05 Juin 2016

Good service, very clean rooms, spectacular view and excellent hotel restaurant makes me give a very easy 4 stars. That's a jewel you wouldn't expect to find there. Hotel employees are generally very nice and helpful.

"Fantastic spot but .."
Charles B, 22 Février 2016

Make absolutely sure you have a room with a view, they have a number of rooms looking at blank walls!! When we stayed the receptionist must have been taking lessons from Basil Fawlty! Fortunately the restaurant was good and the location is worth the visit.

"Fantastic stop"
AngD96, 19 Février 2016

We love this hotel and have stayed many times. Great service, fantastic views and a wonderful town. Restaurant is also great ! Breakfast is great. Very comfortable beds and rooms, exceptional clean rooms.

"Restaurant is not flexible "
Jojabu, 16 Février 2016

If you take the menu, it's possible to get a cheese plate instead of a sweet desert. But the antipasti plate will cost extra fee. I don't like sweet and cheese. That's not a good service in my mind and I'm disappointed about that. Beside that food is very good and also the rooms.

"Amazing location"
Rodman1250, 17 Décembre 2015

Spent a total of 2 nights on 2 separate visits to this great hotel. It is a mission to find it ,but when you do you are blow away by the actual location. On a summers day it is idyllic. Great staff ,excellent restaurant, clean and tidy rooms, and its own car park and great walks along the river.Ideal place to chill out.

"Perfect for a weekend away"
Pepelepugh, 20 Novembre 2015

Ask for a room with a view. And what a view over the river yo the chateau. Great hotel in a great location with the chateau and old town just across the bridge. You don't need a car here. Lots of lovely walking shopping and eating. Friday market in the amazing covered market.

"Fantastic location and very nice restaurant"
Jason C, 03 Novembre 2015

We originally booked a room for two nights but liked our room and the hotel so much we ended up staying for 4 nights. We paid a little extra for a river view room but got a view not only of the river but a fantastic view of the castle or Chateau. Because it was the off season, maybe they gave us a free upgrade to a castle view. In any case, the room was large and the view spectacular. The hotel is in an old mill across the river from the castle, a gorgeous location. The restaurant is quite good. We really liked the food and the price was reasonable. The main downside is that the hotel is hard to find. There are a number of small curved one way streets. To get to the hotel we ended up going about 50 feet down a deserted street the wrong way (after seeing and driving by the hotel several times). There is free parking which is nice. If you visit Clisson, be sure to visit the castle. Amazing place and only 3 Euros admission.

"Great hotel in small town"
David T, 19 Octobre 2015

The hotel was nice and friendly, rooms were a good size. My room was a double, it was good size, nice big bed. Good work space with a desk at on end of the room. The bathroom was spacious with a nice walk in shower. No bath. The room had a view out over the hotel courtyard and over the hotel swimming pool. The view to the right was of the river Loire, which ran right at the back of the hotel. Beyond the river was the castle. Hotel restaurant was very good. Food was really enjoyable, very well presented, modern and tasty. Although small portions. I would certainly eat there again. Breakfast was also very good, buffet style, nice fresh pastries. Recommended.

"Amazing Position and Service but Restaurant A Problem"
Graham R, 07 Octobre 2015

Liked the position, service and room. However, quality of food was poor. All style and no substance. Made me realise the quality of British meat re. French.Small portions covered in sauce with limited vegetables.Better going for casseroles with flavour and substance. More experienced and pragmatic chef needed.

"Brief visit"

Broke a long drive from perpignan to cherbourg staying here....unfortunately arrived late & missed restaurant (closes 2130). Nice tidy hotel quite modern but beautiful setting. Missed breakfast too(stops at 1000),but this allowed us time to walk through the town of Clisson. Clisson well worth seeing & this hotel is very central to seeing it. Would loved to have stayed for lunch on the beautiful terrace (photo). Might do next time

"Disappointing"

Good location. Decent room overlooking river however first impression of the wet room was it hadn't been finished - done in a cement type finish - very depressing and not somewhere you would like to spend much time. Separate wc which seemed almost to be in a wardrobe! OK for one night but wouldn't like to stay longer.

"Idyllic spot in Clisson"

We stayed one night in this Hotel after a long drive and were very pleased to find a lovely swimming pool to enjoy. The hotel has a great position by the river, overlooking the Chateau with a terrace where you can enjoy drinks and dinner. The set menus are well worth ordering and the food was of a good standard. The room was comfortable and a good bathroom with a huge walk in shower. We mentioned at reception that there was no hand soap in the dispenser but none ever arrived. Breakfast was a standard continental. Clisson is a lovely town to walk around with plenty of shops and galleries.

I do a fair bit of travelling, and this is in my top 5 of hotels, beautiful hotel, combined with fabulous food and wonderful views of the Chateau and river.. just idyllic. Parking lot was a bit difficult to find, but i eventually managed.

"Fab food and beautiful location"

Had the privillege of staying here overnight with friends. Small and friendly with stylish rooms. We ate in the restaurant as it was a Monday evening and most of Clisson was shut! We were not dissappointed the food was delicious....my husband had spiced belly pork, our friend had the beef fillet and dauphinoise potato and i had cod fillet served with swiss chard ....all fab. Breakfast was a lovely continental assortment. Lovely outside bar area overlooking the river. Clisson itself is the most picuresque of places. Free parking is a great bonus as Clisson is not an easy place to park a car. All in all a lovely place to stay.

"Great position"

We have used this hotel about 5 times and always a good welcome and comfortable rooms. The last few times we have used the restaurant for dinner both Al a Carte and the menu de Jour. Recently the meals have shown a noticeable improvement in presentation and quality. As a general rule I do not eat in hotel restaurants and prefer to explore. In this case though there are two good restaurants near the hotel we find eating in more than satisfactory. There is a terrace overlooking the ruined castle and adjacent weir and river. Very pleasant in warm weather for drinks or breakfast.

"Bliss in Clisson"

This is a very comfortable hotel in a stunning location on the banks of the River Sevre overlooking the ruins of Clisson Castle. We were staying with a group & decided to arrive a day early for sightseeing. We e-mailed the hotel & asked for a room with a river view which we could retain for the whole trip. The response agreeing this came within an hour together with detailed instructions as to how to reach the hotel, including photographs of the way in. I thought this was excessive until arriving in the town, when I realised just how useful they were. After arriving at the hotel & parking in the secure & spacious car park, we were greeted by the receptionist who came to open the door for us. This was a nice touch & we found the staff to be friendly & helpful throughout our stay. We ate in the hotel both as a couple & as part of a group & all of the meals were of a similar high quality. Indeed, given that the hotel was full, including 2 large groups, the quality & presentation of the food at dinner was exceptional. The buffet breakfast was also of a high quality with mostly local produce, including some of the best jams I have tasted. The major challenge was to avoid overeating! Our room was clean & well presented with a large comfortable bed. The shower room was compact & set directly off the bedroom, which was not ideal, especially as it was difficult to take a shower without flooding the floor. However, the water was always hot & the floor did dry fairly quickly. The Internet was free & reception was good. The hotel benefits greatly from its position & Clisson is a quaint little town to explore but there is not much to see in the castle unless one is an aficionado of ruined castles. The walk along the river is delightful but the return journey along the main road is less interesting.

"Best "Best Western" in the world"
Shawn B, 01 Avril 2015

Super charming and friendly in a location that takes your breath away. If you are in the Nantes area of France stay in Clisson and stay at the Villa Saint Antoine - Best Western. This is not like the Best Western's we are used to in N.A. Clean, modern, great restaurant - I am told by locals the best in town and that is saying a lot.

"Nice vista but expensive"

Finding hotel and hotel difficult as in area of narrow streets medieval bridges and ongoing fete which caused all acess to Hotel to be blocked or one way. Any dog owners staying, beware of metal walkway around side of hotel as it has small holes in it which is very dangerous to dogs claws.

Stunning hotel simply put.. We stayed over on the way home from Sth of France and wished we could have stayed longer. Clisson is idyllic and the hotel is situated right on the the river opposite a chateau. We had a family room (43) and it was just fabulous..Totally recomend it
