SureStay by Best Western Childress

A Fair distance from street- so limited road noise. Roll down window shade was huge screen picture of cotton field. Recently renovated in sleek modern style, no carpets, one stationary door in shower, no bed side lamps- king side mattress not to hard, four standard size pillows-- Wi-Fi codes written on room key envelope- Nice breakfast included with waffle maker- decent coffee but also a Starbucks across street. They were friendly to our dog. Unfortunately, rain shower head should have been installed closer to wall so it won't leak out door. Not enough towels if 2 people bath and wash hair. No carpet means slippery floors after showering. No bed side lamp just ceiling lights directed to each side of bed--- no way for bedtime reading of actual book- too much light- ugh. Finally d Dead bolt in door didn't work- sigh

Unacceptable room. There wasn't any soap or shampoo in the shower. Water was luke warm, at best. Blood on the pillowcase and something brown smeared on the wall by bathroom light. Refrigerator made a sqeaky noise every time it cycled. Even thw chairs in the lobby had soil stains. Because we paid cash, we had to wait 25 min to get our $50 cash deposit back and then only a $22 refund. Will be contacting Best Western to let them know the run-down condition of their hotel in Childress, TX.

Very nice, comfortable and super clean. And Pet Friendly. Definitely the place to stay! Best motel & Best Western at which I've stayed at this price and grade. Recently renovated with simulated wood floors and ceramic tile bathroom & sink area, no carpet thank you. My new shower stall was cool & unusual - easy step in/flush with floor - with a fixed non-slid glass enclosing the large overhead shower fixture that was a real cascade of water! The handles were located on the opposite side where you step in, so that's nice too. Nice Continental Breakfast and friendly staff.

Newly renovated rooms. Very nice Cleanliness and upgrades to the rooms are and definitely meet expectations. This hotel for the value is well worth the stay. Will definitely enjoy stopping here in Childress again when we pass through

The room had 15 dead or dying crickets, two roaches and fifty or more little roach looking bugs in the room. The bed and pillows were very hard, not just firm. We were told they had been remodeled recently, but they did not appear to be remodeled at all. Breakfast almost nonexistent. The only thing that was there was a waffle mix dispenser and waffle iron.

The service was great the staff was awesome. The beds were too firm almost straight not cushion like. Over all great. Price was just right for one night. Small Breakfast in the morning was just right..

Had an issue with cc, supervisor lied about them being able to fix what they caused to begin with, called them out on the lies, owner was standing there, he slunk off, confronted outside, owner being gutless, left. Will never stay at this place again, obviously ownership agrees with blantent lying. I guarantee that their response to this will be a lie

The room was not ready when I chacked in and it was 4:30pm. The water was not on. We had to wait to get it back on. The stay a week early, we had queen size sheets on a king size bed. Due to renovations being done, there was no breakfast offered.

No soap, a broken door, standing water in the sibnk. Quoted a price of $72 and was charged $90. No hot breakfast. Stay at a Motel 6 for a better experience, This may be the worst hotel in the BW franchise in North Ametrica.

If you just want a clean bed and a place to stay, this it. Bed was comfortable, and staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK, didn't have a lot of variety and they were out of butter and cream cheese.

Megan at the front desk really went the extra mile to take care of us. We slept well and enjoyed our stay and our breakfast! She brought things up to our room that we needed and was always very friendly.

Stopped here as we didn't want to drive any further into the night. Ugh, cannot recommend this place at all: 1/2" gap between door and jamb, lumpy mattress, weird smells and seriously outdated interior. The window is fitted with the noisiest airco unit EVER and all rooms face the road, which is near a stoplight, meaning you'll hear all truckers breaking and hitting the gas pedal ALL night long (so much for restful sleep). And if you're allergic to pets forget about it, this hotel doesn't have ANY rooms that don't smell of wet dog. Vending and ice machines didn't work either. The only good thing was their coffee in the AM.

Traveling along HWY 287 in Texas can be a long drive. We stopped for the night and found this hotel to be conveniently located to the freeway. Hotel was clean and quiet and the staff was very friendly.

tired needed to stop and rest, close to everything you need ,clean ,warm , relaxing ,pleasant staff , they made you feel appreciated you stopped in. Left out early so didn't take advantage of breakfast. I would definitely stay if need to again.

We are traveling with our goldendoodle so options can be limited. The Childress BW was just ok. All the linens were clean but the vanity area was questionable. This BW is very tired and in need of a remodel.

Older drive up style motel that has been redone well. Room was clean and super comfortable. Bed and linens are fine. Shower is fine. No problems with room at all. Room was very quiet that I barely knew it was raining like a frog strangler outside. I'll stop here again when in this neck of the sagebrush.

This motel was very nice. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. They have a designated truck parking area. The lady at check -in was very friendly. Motel was in walking distance of restaurants.

Truckers hotel. It's an insult to truckers to say that this is a truckers hotel. The rooms are not clean and smell of cigarette smoke even though you reserve a non-smoking room. The noise from the highway is unbearable. If you're looking for a place for one night and can't find anything else.

Stayed here due to business in the area. This is a very clean hotel with up to date furnishing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend to anyone and will gladly stay here again.

The room was a very nice size. It actually had 2 rooms, one with a king size bed and the other had 2 queen size beds. It was clean. The biggest issue we had was that the tv/remote would not work in the queen size room. It was very frustrating for my kid's as they were wanting to relax and watch TV a bit before bed. The remote in the other room didn't work right either. Most of the outlets didn't work and neither did most of the lamps/lights.

Stopped in Childress on our way home. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Roo.s were clean and comfy. Will definitely stay here on next trip thru Childress. The price was very exceptional for what we got.

Traveling with a small dog so needed a pet-friendly hotel. OMG the room was clean comfortable and quiet. The staff is very helpful. We will be staying there again. The hotel is a Hidden Jewel. Normally we stay in Hampton Inn of Holiday Inn but it was after memorial day everything was booked plus they are not all pet-friendly.

Clean and safe!! My daughter and I were traveling for vacation and all the hotels were mostly booked in Childress so we decided to try this one out since it was a best Western brand even though I usually don't stay places without side Corredor's but…… BUT I was very impressed with the cleanliness of this location the beds were comfortable the parking lot was safe and they even have a grab and go breakfast. The night stuff was awesome with great customer service and the room was affordable Especially when the rest of the hotels were price gouging at around $200 a night. For a hotel savvy brat, I'm VERY impressed.

This room was very inexpensive! I was a little apprehensive when we pulled in. The room was very comfortable. Best nights sleep we had out of the 10 hotels we stayed at! This is an older hotel that is in the process of being renovated. If your passing through, stop here! Its well worth the money!

Staff performance and cleanliness of room were outstanding. This hotel doesn't look so good from the street so was a very pleasant surprise. the free breakfast choices were limited but welcome to a traveler passing through.

I like to stay at Best Western properties but this was my first night at a SureStay. We were given a non-smoking, king bed room on the first floor, as requested. Even though we were close to a main thoroughfare, the noise was not a bother. The room was clean and well appointed. Everything worked. This place was quite inexpensive and we will definitely return.

All hotels in this town looked very similar. Childress is the biggest town on our route it seems. Ratings were very close in all our possible choices. SureStay had the best price. We were not disappointed, it was close to food and gas stops, the room was large, clean, and comfortable. Could not hear any road noise or sounds from other guests. Breakfast was canceled.

This hotel room is something you'd see out of a horror movie. It was dingy, dusty, dark and disgusting. It smelled stagnant. Most of the lights didn't work. The door didn't seal properly and looked like it had previously been broken through.There were drug deals going on below us. No joke we feared for lives at this hotel!

We loved the room, however we didn't verbally tell the front desk that we were leaving and as a result we got charged an extra day. We have been approved for a refund from the hotel but have not received it as yet. There was no one in the office at the time of our departure so I left our keycard on the front desk. All I can say and make sure you tell someone when you are ready to leave.

The reviews led me to believe this wouldn't be so bad. It was. Hard to get a mold smell in the arid Texas panhandle but they pulled it off! As expected at the price point half of the lights worked. Room was really beat up and you could see daylight through the door. Towels were like sandpaper. Sure won't stay here again.

Great clean place to stay. Only needs some minor repair to make it outstanding. Covid-19 issues make travel difficult. Hope for a quick end to all the mask required and hand sanitizer ever time you go in a place to shop.

We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express when we go through Childress which we do several times a year. It was full this trip so was took a chance on the SureStay- the rooms a clean and comfortable with full suite of toiletries and bathtub. We will stay here again if they can survive COVID.

Prepaid a non refundable room to have minimum contact with front desk at check in . Arrived to find front desk staff does not wear any type of mask and no sanitizer available after he handled my license and credit card . Shameful during this pandemic that a small item like wearing a mask to protect your customers is not done !!!!

If your traveling North through Texas this a great place to stay. The rooms are clean, large with large bathrooms. I have a full size 3/4 ton pickup and was towing a 16 foot trailer and there is plenty of parking for several rigs plus car parking. Lots of local restaurants.

We travel to Childress quite often and are loyal Best Western Members and a Best Western was never available here so this Hotel was formally a Econo Lodge but has reopened as A SureStay by Best Western Keep in mind this is an older property that has been rebranded so some of the furnishings are dated but the beds were clean and comfy, the room was very clean and quiet, awesome water pressure in the shower. a few downsides was the option of enough accessible power outlets needs to be addressed there was not enough for 3 adults to charge phones and laptops so maybe bring a power strip with you, we had to unplug every lamp in the room to get enough outlets. The towels were clean and soft and plentiful but only 1 washcloth for 3 adults and no Alarm Clock in the room not even a clock on the microwave and in Rm 119 the exhaust fan in the bathroom was very very noisy...none of these things were a deal breaker it was a very nice comfortable stay within walking distance to restaurants. The breakfast was very minimal and basic and that may be due to them only being only open a few weeks and low Hotel occupancy. The Young man at the Front Desk was so pleasant and friendly I am sure I am butchering his name but I think it was Chiraq and he took the time talk and treat you with the service that Best Westerns excel at. He checked us in early afternoon and was there at check out the next morning and I assume he was also in charge of breakfast, We will be going back in December

Got there around 3:00am, told the guy at the front desk we would be leaving like at 1 or 2 in the afternoon, he said it was ok but in the morning at 11:00 am an old Indu guy (maybe the owner) went directly to me while I was finishing packing up the truck so we could take off and asked me in a really REALLY rude way if we were gonna stay, I told him we were packing up already but before even finishing my sentence he said "because no body told me u were going to leave late, and check out it's at 11", I tried to explain that I asked the guy in the front desk if we could stay until 2, and he had say yes, but he continued almost yelling me to leave 'cause no body had told him about we were leaving late, I stopped arguing as he seemed to be really irrational. Thank god I was already finishing packing up so we just took off right at the moment.

We checked in around 1130pm and the AC didn't get cold in 103. We were later moved to a suite 108 it was worse. I wouldn't recommend this place unless it you can stand the heat in Texas. The guy that was working tried to accommodate us still it's toooooo hottttttttto sleep, so I got a fan that was in the suite and used that a it got a little cooler in the room but you had to sleep at the foot of the bed to feel the cool air

Front desk check in was nice. Indoor pool adjacent to front desk in separate area nice and clean with hot tub. Breakfast area other side mostly continental food with bacon and biscuits. Room was updated and large. Nice shower and bed comfortable. Door opens to parking lot but felt safe. Quiet property. I would have given higher rating if wifi was more dependable. It kept dropping in and out often.

This was the last night of a 6 night road trip and it was by far the nicest place we stayed. Not just good for the price, but exceptional at any price. The value was unmatched by places costing twice or three times the price. The owner/operator was the most congenial and gracious host anyone could hope to meet. The pride he had in his establishment was evident in everything from the neat and clean room to the care he took to make sure breakfast was plentiful and delicious. There was nothing about this place that I would not recommend wholeheartedly. The bar for bargain rate rooms has been raised to a level I could not previously imagine!
