Its a nice place to be with your family , and even for business purpose like having conference meeting etc.i will recommend it to friends and family, also to anyone who would love to have a lovely experience like i did.
Been here since Feb 18 so have a very good understanding of issues that this place has. Is it a hotel for businesses to place their staff for long periods of time.....no definitely not hence I am moving to another hotel... Is it a hotel for local business yes very much so as they are only here for a very short period of time. Price - Overpriced by far.... you will get charged more than you would staying at a Best Western hotel in the UK and you will get nowhere near the service. Alcohol is 2 - 3 times more expensive and food is reasonable but standard and selection is very poor. Staff - There are very few staff who understand the meaning of customer service and you will understand this when you ask for simple things. You will often get a blank expression!! There are a handful of staff however that do understand and will help out as much as they can (Sam, Valentine, Alex, Kenny, Kenneth) the rest of those that deal with customers..... might as well not be there. Facilities - Look good from afar but are in fact in a poor state of repair. They have a pool bar which is the main function area during the evening / weekends and if football is on you have no other choice as all TVs in the hotel including your room will have it on as they want to watch it...... The pool itself is ok highly chlorinated however with no testing to ensure they have the correct level, so ensure you have goggles. It can be very busy during the weekends as locals come and use the facilities. The Gym is ok as they have a range of static cable machines and only 1 set of 10kg dumbbells. The machines have never been serviced and are old. I use this daily and everyday find myself having to tighten bolts, cables to ensure I don't get injured. The Gym floor or machines have never been cleaned since my arrival in Feb which is hygienically disgusting as I have only seen 3 people take towels in to wipe down the machines after use. When I asked the ‘Pool' guy who is looking after it why he informed me that he cleans it everyday by taking all the rubbish out…….. Rooms - The rooms are big but very little maintenance with dents chips and electrical sockets coming out of the walls, my first week spent reporting faults to get fixed.... AC works but frequently stops due to the numerous power cuts you have, they do fix the issues when reported as they have an onsite team. WiFi – The High-Speed Internet Access (HSIA) is a joke as they don't have a reliable service there has not been 1 week where the Wi-Fi has not worked for 1 or 2 days. Whenever there is rain it stops working and the excuses are ‘it's due to the weather'… although using hotspot on your phone it still works. They have an IT guy? Onsite who does his best but has no real authority to change anything but will bend over backwards to try and assist you whenever possible, many thanks. The way it is configured (Daisy Chained 3 blocks together) is ridiculous if you get a fault in one block then everyone after that is affected. When you report the fault, the answers they give are hilarious to 'it's working over in reception'... to 'we have just upgraded and running tests, it will be fine in a few days'. I have been taken Wi-Fi speed tests since Feb and on Average the download is 1.2MBs and upload 0.85kB/s. This has been a huge issue especially when you are trying to do work or contact family members back home. Food - The menu has not changed since the beginning of the year and no matter what you order from Club Sandwich to Steak it all takes 50-60 mins...... certain al a carte food is often not available which reduces the choices even more. But plenty of local / traditional food if you like spice..... Breakfast is another farce with local buffet, but they also do an la carte which works out cheaper. Chefs do their best to accommodate but I would question if they are qualified as when I ordered poached eggs I first got a response of ‘The chef does not know how to make them' ??? and the second time they had been boiled that long that the yolk feel out solid…. If you like meat cooked to varying degrees of texture, then unlucky as the only standard you get is well done even if you specifically ask for it to be med / rare. Only one chef has managed this so far. There are some good Chinese restaurants nearby the hotel which work out cheaper and bigger portions, they also have it at your table within 20mins…. There have been some good times here, but I could count these all on one hand. Bits that make me chuckle since Feb..... I saw a rat and said to a member of staff 'there is a rat going into the kitchen, it has just ran past all the night staff sleeping on the floor' his reply ' That's not a rat, we don't have rats. That was a simulator'... sitting by the pool I hear someone spluttering and chocking I look around to see a someone in the middle of the pool with his arms up in the air and sinking under the water. I dived in, helped him into the side along with another guest ensuring that he was ok. Where was the lifeguard...oh watching football on the TV and when I got out clothes soaking wet I asked why he did not save him, he said ' I was going to go but you already went in and got him'......No staff member went over to see if he was ok…. It turns out he was a Senior Manager at the Site I am working at so I ended up sharing transport with him on a daily basis and every day he goes out of his way to say hi. Always brings a smile to my face. Overall if you stay for short periods of time then this is ok, if you stay longer then all the small things build up and it will drive you mad. As I said I am moving to another hotel now slightly more expensive but much much better customer service.
We lodged 2 Rusian tourists Victor and Dmitri in this hotel late last year. The location was hidden right inside GRA. A very courteous staff and nice affordable rooms, single bed and double bed according to your taste. My clients stayed 2 nights and the response was good. I only noticed a bit of delay in the delivery of the dinner that I ordered on the 1st night.
Overall food & services were good. Hotel staff need to be more proactive and well conversant in English & need to understand international English. Most of the staff did not understand simple and plain English. Breakfast menu need to be changed periodically otherwise food items were same for the 7 days in the week.
My stay here was nice. Just few things they need to improve on. (1) Explain all your services/facilities to guests at check-in. (2) Brighter lightings in the room I was in. Overall this was a very pleasant place to be.
Quality of food served in the restaurant is poor. I would advice you eat out except you intend being disappointed like me. The soup, the sauce, the chips were poor. I can't imagine why I should be served with such less quality meal after paying so much.
I have been in hotels in Benin city overtime i visit or come for business, and never had the pleasure of staying at Best Western, Homeville until now and i must say it is by far the best in Benin City, from the employees to the food at the restaurant all amazing. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends in the United States.
The hotel has a good atmosphere, courteous staff and good parking area. However, there's no elevator if you're on the upper floors, room service doesn't arrive on time, the aile to the rooms are a little stuffy- no ac, more food options need to be provided especially for the complimentary breakfast and lunch buffet.
From the exterior you would fall in Love with the place. When we stepped into the room given to us at the annex it was terrible. Water on the floor a funny smell in the room. As if that wasn't enough it had moulds. We insisted on a new room, that was a whole new ball game. On our way to the room three doors down, no light in the corridor, water on the floor. It was bad. Stayed the night it was late and left early in the morning back to Abuja. It wasn't fun at all.??
the restaurant staff are helpful, and some individuals were attentive, but overall the management was inflexible. the facilities are sub standard (sink falling off the wall, window looks out on a wall, staff enter the room even with do not disturb sign up and front desk staff incapable of handling minor requests, business center non-functional). The manager promised to attend to a request, but then went home before doing so. the pool bar has one comfortable seat but it is "reserved" for the owner. Highly recommend staying at the Protea!
I stayed at this hotel for a few days and it was my second stay there . Impressed with the maintenance of standards . The hotel was clean with professional staff who were very helpful as well . Breakfast was excellent and the other meals as well . rooms are spacious with working amenities . I will certainly return when next in town
Stayed a total of almost 7 months at the Best Western Homeville in Benin City on business. The staff were very friendly and always wiling to help, the service was good and the lodging was great and the buffet on Sunday's are always delicious. The kitchen staff went out of their way to prepare personal requests for meals I had and the restaurant would always call my room once my order was ready. The hotel itself is very safe and secure and central. Highly recommended for expats looking for a hassle free stay in Benin.
If you are in Benin City on a Sunday this is one of your best options for lunch. The spread is spectacular and you get good value for money. The supervisor was not so friendly with my children and his overbearing attitude was irritating but the food was so good I would visit again. Other staff had excellent attitude though
Best Western should be ashamed of putting their brand on this facility and from my experience here they will lose customers like me from their other facilities in other cities of the world! The poor quality and lack of variety of the breakfast and the general cuisine was made worse by our finding a fly and insect in the food at two different times during our stay! The rooms are old, furniture, sheets and towels are worn with some stains and the beds are not comfortable; I should know because I stayed in two different suites! Air conditioning, intercom, bathroom fittings all have issues and the staff could not find a solution to the issues I complained about. I will strongly advice against considering this hotel cos I will definitely not be going back here again!
Everything about this hotel is average. It however used to be the best hotel in the city but I believe the management has somewhat neglected or reduced the effort put into maintenance. It is still a decent place to stay though. Still better than some other options.
My friend and I did not really plan to spend a night in Benin so the arrangement to stay in this hotel was last minute. My first impression was that this is not a purpose built hotel but a converted block of flats on a large area. There were at least 3 different blocks. The rooms were very large indeed. We arrived about 7 pm and after check in went to the restaurant. Our order was supposed to take 20 mins but we spent an hour waiting. But for the fact that I'm not familiar with the city, we would have cancelled the order. The staff were not very nice that evening. We were later informed that there was only one chef available, hence the delay. My room had some mosquitoes and this was not friendly at all. The wifi provided was for only one device. The lighting in the restaurant and rooms was dull. There was some mould on the ceiling in my bathroom. However, on the positive side, we were allowed a late check out till about 1 pm. The water in the bathroom was drinkable- a first in my hotel visits in Nigeria. Plus there was tea/coffee available in the rooms.
The rooms were clean and the staff professional. The best part for me was the buffet, there was a selection of both african and non african foods. We were able to sample both and was very impressed with the quality of food and price. The next day we went to the pool area for drinks with friends and it was a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the city noise. Very impressed.
Front desk staff very professional in attitude and outlook. Rooms are very clean, spacious, well ventilated. Bed and mattresses very comfortable. Cosy. Check out experience was really nice, with every guest treated like a VIP. Wonderful place and people
was impress with the level of professionalism displayed by the staffs. From the point of checking in i got fantastic service all the to check out. They don't just have me stay in their hotel, but they make me a part of the hotel. I will recommend this hotel to travelers as often as I get the opportunity to do so.
I frequently visit the hotel whenever I am on official duty in Benin. Clean rooms, serene environment, good security, friendly and hardworking staff, particularly, Omonefe, Sutton and others. keep the flag flying!!!
The room are spacious and neat, the people are friendly, well-trained I suppose. It is just that the building of this hotel is not like the Best Western in Elomaz, this one is a bit older. Overall the ambiance is good and nice experience being here.
A nice place to relax after a long day in a serene environment with access to most parts of the business area in the city. Great buffet breakfast. Polite staff ready to help always. WiFi works well. Poolside bar is very relaxing with affordable drinks on the menu. Rooms are neat and tidy. Will definitely come back again
I have had reason to be in Benin City multiple times and Homeville hotel is always my choice of accommodation. Neatly tucked away in the government reserved area of town provides a tranquil environment, the rooms are very neat and comfortable and the staff are simply wonderful.
Homeville is an oasis of calm in a hectic city. After a long day out and about in the traffic, it was nice to come back to a good room, spacious and clean. It could do with a little brighter light at night, though some would prefer the softer lighting. The gym was quite well appointed though could benefit from some free weights. The reception staff were always bright and cheery. The restaurant food was tasty and in good portions, though it was slightly inconvenient to have to ask for the ketchup every breakfast time when it could be left out with all the other condiments. I would certainly stay here again.
Check in was a tad chaotic as their pin machine wasn't connecting, but they were happy to leave it and let me try again on check out. Had a suite in a block at the back. Room fine, comfy bed and slept well. Drinks in the pool bar were okay, but let down by slow service in restaurant, we were only table and it took an hour to get any food after ordering. Would hate to want to eat if they were busy. Initially was impressed by welcome from the night manager, then on third 'greeting' realised he was offering to arrange female company (I'm a tad slow and thought he was just being chatty, but the comment along the lines of "hey, no need to sleep alone in Nigeria" gave the game away). Not really acceptable for a best western hotel. Be fair he gave up when I was clear not interested.
Hotel was okay. Rock. Perfectly fine. Long wait for dinner in the evening, we were only table in restaurant and it still took them nearly an hour to get any food served. Wasn't that impressed with the hotel night manager, he suggested I needed ' female company' a couple of times, and didn't seem to get it that I did not. Maybe a cultural issue? Or he was missing out on commission ?? Might try the other hotel next time as didn't like that approach.
Had a nice time out with my family. The serenity of the environment was mind-blowing in a city like Benin. Having been away from the country for some years i am very impressed to return to be treated with such professionalism in the hospitility business. The customer service was top notch, the meals were great and quite affordable. Having a poolside bar was a great idea not forgetting the gym. The wifi service was also great. Cuddos guys and keep up the good job.
The Hotel seems to be the best of the rest.... Power went out at least 1 time an hour while I was there. did come back within few minutes but had to wait for the wifi to come back on. log in..then after a few minutes you can repeat the proces again. Most of the staff was friendly and very helpfull. Taxi service provided by the hotel had a friendly driver but not wiorth the money. Driver asked me for gas money...???
A home away from home. Good quality staff, excellent dishes, fantastic pool side, splendid Sunday brunch event. You will love this place. Less I forget breakfast makes sense. Want to stay a home away from home and miss it less Bestwestern homeville Benin City is the place to stay. Omale D.
Very good customer service, my colleagues and I had a refreshing experience on our visit to the best western, Benin-city. Being a regular traveler myself, I was pleasantly surprised when the receptionist offered to take my luggage upstairs to my room herself. I felt like a king and am going to share the experience with other people.
Mind blowing hotel in Benin City Nigeria. Best Western Hotel sets new standards in Hotel, Catering & Entertainment industry in Benin City. Decent accommodation, nice meals, not crowded by call gals or touts, safe and secure. Affordable yet basically meant for "elites". I enjoyed the serene environment, friendly staff and ice cold drinks buffet. Check it out when next you visit Benin City.
Best Western hotel in Benin is that if international standard, very neat and big rooms, beautiful bathroom, good air conditioning system. I had an issue with my TV and it was immediately changed. Meals were very nice as well especially the sunday Afternoon buffet. Support services like taxi also makes your movement around the city less stressful. It is located in a Government Reserved Area of Benin.
Very good customer service. My wife and kids spent Christmas here in 2013. They still talk about their wonderful experience. That encourage me to lodge there and it was exactly what that they said. Very friendly staff. Lovely and warm environment and very safe. The Staff are always on their toes, waiting to help. I will recommend to friends. .
I have stayed at thus hotEl twice now and I can say it is one of the few good hotels I can recommend for you in benin. Courteous staff, great rooms, good food (am not such a great fan of hotel food). What they should improve on 1. Their bed linings, standby cabs(hotel not on high street), more options for breakfast. Tip: don't be too shy to ask for a discount on your favourite room...it could be your lucky day.finally, the property is expansive but you feel safe and sleep soundly.
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life no value for money and to top the cleaner stole my 1400 dollars and the hotel did not have courtesy to call me after they promise to investigate the matter.
