Best Western Plus Taft Inn

This hotel is clean. Everyone is helpful and nice and polite. Greeted each person as they came in. The staff always asked how they can be of assistance. Food was kept warm and ways always checked for amount and freshness.

Although not a five star hotel, I am giving it a "great rating". I am happy with the employees. They remember me, and to me, that is personable service. The room is neat and clean. I have a clean place to exercise. Therefore, I will say, I would ❤️ a resort.. but that's not why I'm there. Thank you to BWHH.

Have stayed here many times, always a good experience. Would definitely recommend. Breakfast is more than continental, there's hot food and it's always good. Parking is never an issue. We have also used the pool in the summer time.

This hotel is very clean. The staff was very friendly. There was plenty of places to eat around the hotel. Travel to work was easy from this location. Looking around the area this was the best hotel around.

It's the nicest hotel in the area, but it's also the only new and/or modern hotel in the area. There are other choices, but they are old and dated. The amenities are ok, but the breakfast is bland and full of carbs

I am a teacher and need to take a very important test to become an admin on February 5. The only reason I am doing this is for more pay for my family. I started my reservation for February 4 on Jan 28 but I did not have my credit card easily available so I did not finish my reservation. On Jan 29 I was prompter to “finish” my reservation. I had my credit card and took advantage of the opportunity. My name, address, best western customer number and all were already filled out for me; all I had to do was put in my credit card… or so I thought. The next day I received a receipt for my stay. Opening it up, I realized that although all my info had been prefilled to “finish” my reservation, the DATE HAD BEEN CHANGED to the night I opened the “finish my reservation” email. I immediately called Taft Best Western directly and explained the situation at 8:47 am the morning of January 30. The front desk employee/proclaimed manager said the room was already put into “inventory” and there was nothing they could do. I explained I'm not coming until Sunday February 4, but no offer for even a discount for my real stay. This was a $163.67 mistake prompted by Best Western. We go to remote areas regularly and frequent Best Westerns. I am beyond irritated at how this was handled and disappointed that no effort was made to make it right. Shame on Taft BW… I am struggling financially and this hit hard in the most difficult financial month of the year… something I will never forget.

This is our 7th time at this hotel, everytime so far is great just last time next door neighbors were too loud around 2 am but everything else was good, will stay again everytime I come to Taft, everything is near by even at a walking distance

Great place to stay! The locations sits in the center of this quiet town. Big spacious rooms with a restroom to match. It was a great choice vs driving to Bakersfield. This place is modern, free got breakfast with many options. It's very clean and inviting.

Upon entering my room 120 a big urine stain on carpet size of a fisbee. Besides, the pet urine stain,If you come upon an emergency only "Kevin" can do that, could not get ahold of "Kevin" the general manager .I was told "Kevin" is the only one who could help me. He chose not to . Will not be coming back

I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good they have many options and we also enjoyed the pool. It was very quite at night so that was a plus. There is also a small like park right next to the hotel, that was nice .

With everything related to Travel expensive, the BW gives customers the money worthwhile. It is not fancy place, but it gives us good clean room, reasonable breakfast, and good service. The room at Taft Inn is very quiet.

This motel is an oasis in a remote oil town: Clean rooms, extensive breakfast, comfortable beds, helpful staff. On a Sunday night there were very few choices for dining in town so plan ahead. We stayed here during our trip to Carrizo Plain .

Clean hotel, safe, easy on and off HWY 119. Ample parking. Good breakfast. Nice fitness room. We traveled to visit friends. Taft is a small town, with not a lot to do, this is, by, far the best hotel in town.

Best western Taft was a nice nourish place, located in a small town. The rooms were super tidy, the bed was very comfortable, the staff was courteous and efficient. Breakfast buffet was a nice plus and there was lots of parking. The only thing we need it was an EV charger.

Very easy to go to Carrizo Plain, （via SR 58) room is very big, & clean with microwave & refrigerator and served with hot breakfast。 Located in the heart of Taft, next to a trail. Staff is very friendly.

The rooms were nice, the service was great. The price was a bit high... but we paid it to be in the best hotel in town and not have to drive to Bakersfield for a nicer hotel. We would stay there again, but would still be a bit disappointed in the price.

It's a very clean hotel but the bedding needs an upgrade. The sheets are very rough like sandpaper and the bed was hard and squeaky ( not comfortable at all ). The mini refrigerator was a little to noisy.

Staff are friendly and made checking in and out easy. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable. Breakfast had hot and cold items. Plenty of parking and some is covered to protect from the sun. There are restaurants within walking distance. I would stay here again.

Great place to stay in the area. Breakfast is ok. A coffee machine with many choices available all day. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was close to the area we ere conducting business. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

This is the only hotel that I'll stay in while visiting Taft. It is always VERY CLEAN and comfortable. The staff have always been very pleasant. I can't think of not a single negative thing about my stay.

Awesome, clean, quiet, very nice decorations in the room, comfy beds, cool AC, ceiling fan a plus! Frig kept drinks cool too. Safe parking. Warm shower and plenty of towels. Its great to stay at a hotel that takes pride in their establishment.

The hotel is very clean and smells great! The staff are very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and hot, the pool for kids was a plus and the computer room to work in is nice as it has a printer. A++

This motel is a great value. The rooms are clean and well-appointed and the property in general is clean and in good shape. Great product for the rate. It's also away from any noisy highway etc. Good location.

Hotel was clean and spacious; and the staff was nice and helpful. The amenities were good, including a variety of complimentary coffee drinks and teas. The location is in walking distance to several nice restaurants.

After a day of traveling from San Francisco towards Palm Springs, we needed a place to stay overnight. The Taft Inn Fit the bill. This may be one of the cleanest and best maintained best westerns I've visited in sometime, and I generally consider Best Western as a chain to be the maintained hotels in the industry. My wife and I picked this hotel as being may be three months old. It has been here for over six years. The staff is friendly and attentive to every detail. The breakfast room was fully stocked and impeccably maintained. The owner, management, and staff of this hotel are true testament to the best western brand.

The room was clean, and the environment was quiet. The staff was courteous, professional and friendly. Everything in the room worked, e.g. Air conditioning, outlets, etc. The property appeared to be pretty new.

lobby is lovely rooms are nice my tub's drain did not close but clean bathroom maintenance is well overall. staff was friendly but not one i encountered was not professional; he let people who brought me food up to my room when i only meant to see them in the lobby without letting me know they were coming up. i was just too flabbergasted to say anything atm.

The hotel itself is very nice, clean and beautiful. Seems newly build. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was great. If anyone get a chance, stop by into this small oil producing town and experience the culture and quietness

Upon arrival we were created in a timely manner and the front desk was very helpful and professional, the lobby was decorated for the holiday and it smelled like Christmas for sure! The whole hotel felt very warm as the weather was in the upper 40's. Check in took a total of 10 minutes tops and I also had 2 $10 cards to redeem which the front desk offered to either have them emailed to them or I could print them out using the printer in the office very helpful of her for sure! I have been staying with them every time I travel to Taft and I will ALWAYS will!

So there's only mom and pop hotels in Taft California...until now... don't stay nowhere else but here!! I am so glad this best Western is here ..had a couple days on a project here !I will say that from the time I got here so I left was nothing but great!!! First of all front desk service is really good they are really friendly and they get you checked into your room really fast ,..very hospitable! The great selections of treats and snacks in the lobby.. The room ... what can I say ...big and clean very clean!!very comfortable!!! I really enjoyed my room as well as the very hot shower with awesome water pressure ..about darn near gives you a massage!!! Beds are very comfortable always got a great nights rest there ! The place is fairly quiet I had no disruptions ! The breakfast is excellent, very clean facility !!good food good selection!! I will say no I will stay here again and that I recommend this place to anybody for a vacation and/or for business stay! One more thing they had great parking so if you're in a larger vehicle you can be accommodated!

This hotel is very nice. Every time I come to this area on business my first choice is always Best Western Taft... The hotel is well situated in town It also has truck parking available, that is a big plus Its well maintained and employs a friendly staff

After a day in the heat it was nice getting into the hotel that was cool, clean, and comfortable. Our room even had a bathtub where we can relax and unwind. Great for our 1st hotel stay since the pandemic.

We are thankful to have a quality Best Western in the city where our son will be attending college for the next 2 years; enabling us to visit and take reprieve from our day! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable!

Excellent hotel, all the amenities you need, pool and fitness center well maintained-would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff are very helpful, self serve coffee was a nice addition and fully stocked.

I stay at this Best Western often. Each time I am greeted by a very friendly staff who make you feel very important and welcomed. They attend to your needs promptly and efficiently. The rooms are great for in room working. There is an ample desk for computer and work space. Clean and new. Always a pleasure.

I have been staying at this Hotel since November 2020, I had an issue with my credit card charges and items put on it that were not authorized. I had my bank send me a print out of the charges. I went to Katrina and showed her she tells me that's not there hotel ? even the print out show it was. So ask to talk to the manager and he and Katrina were both yelling at me saying your bank is wrong even with the printout. I have never experienced a manager and staff raising there voices at me with other people in the lobby, Very rude and unprofessional. I will never stay at this hotel again and the only reason I did was I'm working less than a mile away.

I stayed in Taft's Best Western couple weekend nights after hiking in Carrizo plain. Everything was great for me there: big clean room, quick and easy check-in and check out, breakfast with numerous options. I even tried their pool. This hotel has very small and very shallow pool but I was completely alone there. It is outdoor pool and water was not warm enough in spite of temperature was >95 during the day. But it was so good refreshing after heat.

Have always enjoyed Best Western stays. I would highly recommend them. I travel for work at times and can rely on them for a good nights rest, They have breakfast again and It helps me start the day of right.

New, perfect condition hotel. One block from Taft's main pedestrian street, two blocks from Taft's best sports bar. Oil country theme tastefully continues from street to room (surprisingly nice photos of oil extraction is main art theme) I will return.

Easy stay for NGPC, quick trip out to the track, convenient to grocery store, gas stations and both restaurants and fast food. Very clean hotel and polite and helpful staff. Back to nice hot breakfast with decent variety.

Nice Clean facility and rooms. Well kept, appears fairly new. Rooms are fairly large and comfortable. Bath room was clean and no signs of wear and tear. Could use a larger shower drop to protect the life of the walls and such. I noted some water spray from the shower on the walls after use. Did not affect use or quality of facility at this time. Would stay at same location again. Desk clerk had good recommendation on open food locations.. WE had a great meal at a local place. I would have never found or stopped there otherwise.

You have very limited options if you are planning a trip and staying in Taft. The BW is a great looking hotel for the location. I was expecting a little more even with the current COVID situation. Breakfast options was very disappointing, it was a simple bag style grab-n-go. I stayed a total of 4 nights, each morning, we were given the same options with no other choices within the hotel. It consisted of: Kid juice box, an orange, Belvita cracker pack and a Svenhards Swedish pastry. Great choice if you are 5. Next we were not told about the pool being closed, even though Kern county had no restrictions on pool closures. When i asked the staff about the closure, the response was, "The owner does not want to deal with it and has it closed still!" My kids were very disappointed they would not be able to swim, Taft does not offer much and it would have been the highlight of their trip. Hotel room did have a slight odor to it, but given the location and being surrounded by oilfields, i can understand it. One day we left for several hours, when we returned, we noticed an odor coming from the bathroom. It was as if someone went #2 and it was not from my family. The outside/ inside appearance is very nice. It is a newer BW, the lobby is inviting with the option of having fresh coffee. Side note, for a family of 4, the room was a little smaller than i liked. When we spent any significant amount of time inside, it did feel a little cramped.

I only stay at Best Western Plus due to the fact that the staff is always incredibly polite and attentive. The rooms are always very clean. I always have a quick check-in and check-out. The parking lot is very well lit at night. Love the breakfast!

Stayed here 2 night while at Worcs racing with our son. The breakfast, room, amenities(laundry) were great. The hotel and surroundings were clean, the staff was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful.

The best hotel in Taft from Appearance to Room accommodating options. The Included hot breakfast, the ceiling fan in the rooms, plenty of lighting in the rooms, outlets, Fridge, microwave & coffee makers too. Ice machine on all levels close to elevators. Plenty of lighted parking space. Check in process was Fast! Check out service was even faster. Easy! Do not look for any other hotels other than this one. I have stayed in Taft before in the last 4-5 years and Best Western was the greatest thing they have for hotels. Its walking Distance to a few eateries, Bars & a short distance to other numerous spots including Asian Experience(must try Restaurant hosted on DDD).

Looks like a brand new hotel in town. Everything was clean and working. Our room and a king bed, nice sitting chair and a desk with plenty of electrical hooks ups. The hot water took awhile to warm up. The room also had a microwave and refrigerator. The hot breakfast included sausage, country potatoes and scrambled eggs. Other choices included, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, breads and cereal.

This place is very clean, quiet and modern. The rate is reasonable for what you get. Front desk staff are efficient helpful and friendly. The hot breakfast is good. I would definitely stay here again.

We love staying at this hotel. It's a super clean hotel. They have very friendly, accommodating staff. They have breakfast every morning that is delicious. We love staying there because it is a clean safe place to stay with our kids.

I stayed two days here enroute home after several weeks in Death Valley. Some may wonder why anyone would stay two days in Taft, which is off any direct route between Death Valley and the Bay Area, unless they were working or visiting someone. It turned out that way because my original plan was one day there so I could go to Carrizo Plain, but I discovered the Tule Elk Natural Reserve nearby (I did see elk), spent a bit more time exploring around town, and decided to stay another night. The Best Western is in the old downtown, not on Kern Street, a city street designated as Hwy 33 that has become another retail district but with mostly car-centric businesses and less of the original town character. Taft is in an oil-producing area and that is the bedrock of its economy. Across the street from the hotel is a park with the large, impressive Oilworker Monument. I can't post a link for it – TA doesn't allow URLs in reviews and rejected my first posting and made me spend a lot of time reconstructing this. But you can google Taft Oilworker Monument for info and pictures. Many early residents were from Southern and Border states as in much of the San Joaquin Valley, where Steinbeck's “Grapes of Wrath” people were headed (this is relevant, you'll see). Downtown, along North, Main, and Center Streets south of Kern Street, surely predates the Hwy 33 appellation. If you want fast food or gas marts, go to Kern Street, but if you want to see the older business area, 1950s warehouses, office buildings, and stores (lots of furniture stores, IDK why), or the restored Fox Theatre, look on the other streets. Many older houses can be seen both north and south of 33. Maybe partly because of its early demographics, Taft was infamous as a “sundown town,” one of many in both North and South with laws and signs that “Colored People Must Leave By Sunset” or be arrested or worse; 1970s racial strife in Taft was depicted in a story by Gerald Haslam, one of my favorite California authors. In 2019, the signs are gone; I can't shed any light on the attitudes. (Just giving some background because Taft is not a town most folks are likely to be familiar with. I saw various ethnicities, much of today's population is Hispanic, and being American of Asian ancestry didn't seem to be a problem). OK – about the hotel. I've become partial to Best Western in recent years. At some point in life, people outgrow Motel 6, and Best Western is a good fit when you don't need a Marriott or Hilton or can't find one. This is a fairly new place at 6th and Main, the quiet edge of the old downtown, with the park and Oilworker Monument across the street. I was comfortable walking in the evenings on the streets where there are stores and restaurants, and in the park where I saw joggers and families. In any town, it's always wise to know one's surroundings, but I was fine there. The hotel is 21st Century Bland with 3 stories, a lobby where people can watch TV or visit (not like Motel 6 lobbies that don't even have chairs), a decent vending selection where you don't need coins because the desk clerk is the cashier, a small business center, guest laundry, exercise room, and outdoor pool. I didn't use the pool, but it would have been OK if I wanted to; I appreciate outdoor pools but can't spend even a minute at an indoor one because the enclosures trap and magnify every bit of heat, humidity, noise, and nasty chlorine odor. The parking lot has strong security lighting, which came on earlier than sunset so it may be on a clock timer and not a sensor. I had a top floor room facing Main Street, looking at a historic building housing an auto body shop; not a scenic vista, but I hadn't expected one and wasn't paying for one. It was comfortable, with a fridge, microwave, and AC and USB outlets on all the lamps for the ubiquitous e-things. There were times I was awake late at night or early in the morning and looked out, and saw that part of town totally asleep, with few lights on, no traffic, no one walking around – an interesting view. A plus at Best Western is the breakfast buffet with real breakfast, not a basket of cellophane-embalmed pastries bought by the case at Costco. A civilized breakfast in a hotel or motel is worth a little higher rent, not just in money but in time and convenience. On the days I dined, I had a choice of juices, fruits, pastries, yogurt, cereal, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and meat – one day, sausage and chorizo, the other, bacon and biscuits and gravy. The automatic pancake machine produced two little pancakes with a press of a button; no ladling batter like in some hotel DIY waffle makers where you always see a mess and lots of waste. I have to mention the décor. Most hotels have pictures of soothing nature scenes like waterfalls or meadows, or animals, or local landmarks. The décor here may be startling at first but makes perfect sense. At the entrance is a metal sculpture of an oil well pump jack, the thing most travelers notice first, which looks like the toy bird that bobs up and down in water, this is what it is).The hallways are lined with photos, mostly b&w but a few sepia or color, of petroleum industry subjects: workers, derricks, pumps, equipment or parts of it (vehicles, wheels, chain drives, a truck interior, tools, etc.), even a portrait of a “Hazardous Waste” sign. In the rooms, instead of your everyday Paris open-air café or bowl of fruit, you'll find more oil industry photos. Aside from any opinions about carbon-based fuels and combustion engines, you have to give the management credit for being creative about making the hotel part of its setting.

While Taft, CA isn't the most sought after destination, the Best Western Plus is the cleanest, friendliest, BW I've stayed in. I would recommend staying here if you ever find yourself in Taft, CA. Delightful swimming pool, good food (skip the oat meal) and delicious coffee. House keeping staff is one of the best.

Not all Best Western Hotels are created equal but this one is one of the best. We have stayed here several times over the years and we have never been disappointed. Everything is super clean neat and orderly. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, light and airy. Breakfast is great. There is always coffee available in the lobby. The front desk staff and cleaning staff are excellent.

I am staying here for approximately 28 days for work and the walls are paper thin it seems. A group of oil field workers are staying at the hotel and for the last week I hear doors slamming at all hours and the TV in the room next to me blasting through the wall even though the front desk asked them to turn it down. So, while it is a decent hotel I would not stay here for work again. Also, one washer and dryer for the entire hotel so with a lot of people staying here long term and no laundry service offered not to mention the laundry room closing at 9 pm...….getting laundry done while working long hours was a chore. Pool is not heated and no jacuzzi.

We didn't know what to expect in the small community of Taft. It was a wonderful choice, I typically stay at Marriott properties; however, I may rethink this. It was a great choice! It was a busy weekend, but the hotel was quiet - very important to me.

We did a last minute stay at this hotel. And it was a wonderful experience! Super clean. Nice, helpful staff! It had cute decorations. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was so good We plan to stay there more in the future!

This is a wonderful Hotel with an excellent staff. Was hoping to eat at my favorite chinese resturant but it looks like New Ongs is out of business. Be sure to visit the Taft Fox for a wonderful movie experience

This was our second trip to Carrizo Plain and our second stay in Taft. Carrizo Plain was beautiful. Taft was okay, located as it is in the middle of oil fields. The hotel was great. Our room was large and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The TV and WiFi worked well. The bed was nice. Breakfast was above average. Plenty of parking. Everything, even the towels, seemed to be extra nice. Highly recommended.

We decided on this property as part of our visit to the Carrizo Plain National Monument based on other online reviews and were satisfied for the most part. Granted, there are not many options when visiting Taft, CA, but that being said, it seemed that BW put some thought into the customer experience. As reference, we were given a first floor room and checked in around 3:00 pm. Pros: - Clean interior with modern decor - Pleasant smelling rooms and high ceilings that made the space feel much larger - 24-hour coffee station with a Keurig machine - Wide range of breakfast options (hot breakfast + cereal, push-button pancake maker) - View of the distant mountains from the breakfast room - 2 blocks from their "main," street. The main street is a short strip of small shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, many were closed / out of business. The nearby highway is where one would go to access the grocery store, gas, and fast food places i.e. McDonalds. Cons: - Very noisy. There was a constant hum and clanging well past 11:00 pm. We would have addressed this with the staff, however, dealt with the issue figuring our stay was only one night. - First floor is actually lower than the adjacent park. This was off-putting because anyone at the park could see straight into the rooms. This area of Taft, CA had its share of vagrants, so buyer-beware. The surroundings were clean, but be smart, exercise common sense and don't leave any valuables in sight. - Immediate surroundings are a little run-down. Dated body shop and industrial buildings (one - two story) comprise the view from the front. Down the block are run-down residences. - No in-room safe Keeping in mind that this is a hotel in a small town, I tried to have some perspective as I was reviewing. Overall, it's fine, however, I think these shortcomings would definitely hurt the property if it was in a larger market.

They have a nice hotel people!! No joke..if you hafta go to Taft...stay here. I didn't get the name of the young man who checked me in, but he was phenomenal...someone steal him!! The rooms were decent, quiet ...

we are very happy to stay in this hotel in Taft. this is our second time to stay there during the wild flower season and we will be back, people are friendly and parking is easy and easy to drive to see the wild flowers in Carrizo Plain , I use their business center to check map and internet speed is fast and print it out map easily,

We just got back from a two night stay. This hotel must have gone thru a recent update because everything was so nice! Towels, linens, mattress all new. Nice modern rooms with a lovely color choices and nice touches: ceiling fan and illuminated light switches. And the staff was great. Loved Hector who manned the front desk. He was friendly, patient and helpful to all us out of town wildflower folk.

The place is very nice, appears new. A plus for the community and for those looking for a good place to stay. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is the most complete I've found in a Best Western, maybe it's because it's a BW Plus.. Coffee, yogurt, a variety of breads, cereal, a pancake machine instead of the usual waffle maker, eggs, two kinds of sausage, tortillas, & all the expected condiments & jellies. Several kinds of milk, etc, the list goes on. Rooms are clean & fresh. Spacious with high ceilings, very impressive. Microwave, refrigerator, & the internet is strong.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is good, with option of a pancake machine and choice of honey or syrup. Decor is all oil drills - which even with a sunset behind them are not my idea of appealing decor. TV that was at least two rooms away kept my husband up until 2AM one of the nights.

Pretty much what you would expect from a relatively new Hotel: Modern styling, clean, spacious rooms, efficient service. Staff was very friendly. For hotel standards, the breakfast is actually very good. If I end up in Taft again, this is where I'll stay.

The hotel has a modern design and is the cleanest hotel I have ever staied in. The staff was friendly and helpful with all their guests and the breakfast has a lot of options to choose from. The lobby has a free 24 hour coffee station set up for their guests too. For lunch or dinner I recommend eating at Jo's Family Restaurant.

For seeing the wild flowers at the Carrizo Plains, the Best Western Plus Taft Inn in Taft can not be beat. The location is very convenient, the facility was clean and comfortable with good well lighted parking and the staff was courteous and helpful.

One of the nicer Best Westerns...comfy bed, decent size room, ample lighting, modern furnishings, above average breakfast, and cordial check-in and great restaurant recos (thanks, Hector!). On a quiet street away from main highway traffic noise.

Highly recommend the Best Western Inn in Taft. Walking distance to local resturants. Staff is professional and friendly. The free breakfast adds to the value, nothing fancy but does the job. Definitely recommend the Best Westerb if mb you are staying in Taft

I found the Best Western on line when I was preparing to come to Taft for our grandsons motocross race. We were so surprised and delighted with the Best Western property. It was so new and clean and stylish. The room was really large and very comfortably appointed. Breakfast was a wonderful surprise! Highly recommend and we will be back next year for his race!

We have stayed here several times over the years, since the place was about a year old. It has always met our expectations, that's why we keep staying here on our way north and south. We often stay overnight on our way north and then on our return trip. The rooms are spacious, clean and airy. The bathroom is fresh and clean with no mold or grout discolorations. The plumbing works great and there is plenty of water pressure and hot water. Breakfast is good and hotel staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms have ceiling fans and the heating and cooling are easy to operate.There is plenty of parking and the handicapped spaces are close to the lobby. The area around the hotel is quiet. Not a whole lot of traffic in Taft, so not much in the way of street noise.

I did not expect much from a hotel in this area but it was extremely clean and well cared for. Service and staff were great. Check in and Check out was a easy Even helped me find a great place to get a bite to eat.

Don't trust the “Lost and Found” here. Apparently, the housekeeping just keeps any left behinds; next day phone call to them was fruitless. Maybe, I should check the local pawn shops for my ring. I claim full responseibity for inadvertently leaving it behind wiith my hair products, though. My bad. I've learned a valuable lesson the hard way. Nice room. Clean.

We stay here every December to visit relatives. It's lovely. The staff is always nice. The rooms are always immaculate. The lobby is always decorated for Christmas. And, we can get a room with a walk-in shower for our handicapped mom.

Hector is great at check-in very friendly. relatively new hotel that is clean. convenient location and nice that there is a reputable property in Taft. a lot closer to work locations than commute from Bakersfield.

I love the Best Western Plus in Taft! The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. It is always extremely clean and the rooms are wonderful. I used all amenities during my stay (fitness room, business center, breakfast and lobby area) all areas exceeded my expectations.

Until this Best Western Inn opened, Taft had only small older motels to offer travelers. This is a wonderful addition to the town and makes it more likely that I will return for overnight trips. It is perfectly located, clean and friendly, very quiet. A great value.

This hotel seems to be brand new. Always a plus. The staff were welcoming. The breakfast was standard. All in all a pleasant stay. I suibtracted one star because check-in is at 3 p.m. I arrived at 3:05 and was made to wait 45 minutes for my room to be readied.

Daughter wanted to visit Taft as her favourite pop band filmed one of their music videos there, so incorporated into road trip around California. Hotel excellent. Room quiet and comfortable and breakfast good. Taft itself has a wonderful community and friendly atmosphere. Excellent micro brewery in town which also serves food. Daughter and boyfriend also took in a movie at the Fox Theatre in town. Struck lucky for a custom car rally at the back of the hotel which again had friendly community support.

This is probably the best hotel in the area. The hotel is clean and they offer a nice breakfast buffet also. It is very simple but very nice. The people who work there all seem to like and take pride in their jobs. Their service is good and they give you personalized service. If you have any issues you can always call and they will try their best to resolve.

It's true what the other reviews say... in the middle of a rural area, one can find the 2 years new Best Western Plus Taft Inn, which is a delight. Modern, new, and welcoming smile as you arrive. Free breakfast with the fun automated pancake maker machine, and a modern hotel with everything you need for a visit to the area, or whilst you are passing through. Highly recommended. Small fridge and a microwave in the room too.

Friendly staff and awesome to be close to any of the nearby oil fields. The only thing I wish was that they had more variety on the hot side of breakfast though it was tasty. Also it is within walking distance to many of the towns restuarants.

Great Hot breakfast(eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc). Staff members are great. Internet Connection is great. Large Flat screen TVs, BIG Ceiling fan in room! Great comfortable place to stay.

We were in Taft to visit a friend and although we got suggestions to stay in Bakersfield we booked a night here. Very nice hotel, up to date, clean and quiet. Great location if you visit Carrizo Plain.

We stayed here en route from Bay Area to S California. Never been to this area before. It made a refreshing change, and while Taft is in oil country, there are extensive agriculture and wildlife preserves around (saw several birders). The rates provide great value, the hotel is exceptionally comfortable, and there are pleasant eating places nearby.

I had wanted to stay north of Soda Lake, but the caretakers at that motel were unavailable and the place looked like a dive. I ended up driving all the way to Taft, an hour away, which didn't make me happy. But the Best Western Taft Inn was like an oasis in the desert to me when I pulled up late at night. They had several rooms available, so I was happy. In my opinion, for that area, they are a bit over priced, but the rooms are very nice. I just wished that it had been closer to the north end of Soda Lake.

They were very nice every time I called which was about 6...they were full so I was waiting to see if something cancelled at the last minute and it did. Quick night and it was peaceful and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff in the evening and morning were very nice. Breakfast was yummy and filling. Hot eggs and potatoes and make your own waffles, we love those and they had lots of toppings. Yogurt , cereals. Hot yummy coffee, to top it off. Highly recommend!

Great hotel in Taft? Of all places? Yes! This hotel is quiet, off the highway, clean with nice rooms. Downtown Taft is a nice, quiet place. It was nice to walk downtown and get some local food (not fast food or chain restaurant)

Came for a wedding and stayed for two nights over the weekend. Best Hotel Here by far! Great location, can walk to everything in town. Clean, comfortable and only a couple of years old. Would definately stay here again.

Loved our stay at Best Western in Taft. Great staff, very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay at another Best Western on future trips. The parking lot had lots of bright lights and everything in our room was clean and neat. The internet worked fine, with no issues at all. The hotel was easy to find as we had never been to Taft previously. The staff was very knowledgeable, polite and extremely efficient.

Really glad to see this new motel in Taft! Now we have a nice place to stay in town. No more need to drive to other more distant motels. Room was nicely appointed with all amenities provided. The included breakfast was hot and tasty, offering scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy. Also, enjoyed trying the automated pancake maker. Hard boiled eggs, yogurt, juices, bagels, toast, muffins and danish were included. Having a pool is a plus in this hot area! Bed was comfortable, and was glad to see the room included a ceiling fan as well as air conditioning. Providing an elevator to the upper floors was appreciated.

We arrived late at night after an 8hr drive.. The hotel looked very nice but when we checked into the hotel we got room 126 first floor. Room sheets were stained and found ticks all over beds. Will not go back.

It was a decent place to stay after a hard days work. I would recommend this Best Western to anyone in the area that needs a place to stay.The staff was pleasant and helpful during check in. There are plenty of places to eat in the area.

Excellent facility and front desk. Breakfast experience was average. Room was well decorated and comfortable. The manager was very helpful with area information, directions, restaurant recommendations and gave my disposable plates and cutlery so I could warm up my left over lunch for dinner.

We always enjoy our stay in taft at the Best Western Hotel. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is getting busier so would recommend a early reservation to make sure you get a room. The last time we stayed there were 2 weddings and were completely booked. Luckily we made a reservation and took a king room, but there was a cancellation and we were able to get 2 queen room.

Thankful this hotel is here! Obviously newer property, contemporary style in rooms. Very clean, adequate breakfast--make your own pancakes...wish there were waffles :) Perfect for a business trip without having to drive to Bakersfield!

I've stayed at the Best Western Taft Inn a handful of times over the past year and have been very satisfied with each and every stay. The staff is courteous and professional, the rooms are large, clean and comfortable and the internet is above average. The value provided by BW Taft Inn is beyond compare. This caliber of hotel would likely be in excess of $300/night if it was in a large city.

Eveytime we come through Taft this hotel treats us with a level of quality consistent with a 4 star hotel. The cleanliness of everything is immediately noticible and the staff act like they want you there!!

If your travels take you through Taft, this hotel is a must and probably the best in town. Katrina, at the front desk, is an excellent employee: efficient, experienced and knowledgeable! The room was large and very clean. Breakfast was the usual, great Best Western fare.

Very pleasant, mostly comfortable. Clean, convenient, good value. Breakfast was quite good: a good selection of continental breakfast items plus some hot foods: waffles, scrambled eggs, potatoes. I used the fitness room and it was great--it was quite small, with a treadmill, elliptical, another aerobics machine I didn't use, and a weight machine with several different configurations. All clean and new, and no one else was there (I suspect it doesn't get much use, but I enjoyed it). My only complaint (that half point) is that there were 4 pillows on the bed, all the same, all very thick, lumpy, and hard. Very uncomfortable, and hard on the neck. Bring your own pillow if possible!

We were pleased with the location service and amenities. The breakfast provided each morning was more than expected. The beds were very comfortable and the location was so easy to get to. We also felt the price was right. It was a good value! We stayed four nights and it felt like we never left home.

We stayed at the Best Western for a graduation ceremony. We enjoyed our stay very much. Clean nice hotel. Good breakfast was available in the hotel in the morning. The pool area was clean and well maintained. Had a good experience. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were a bit lumpy. I would recommend this hotel.

The manager Kevin is a total jerk. These guys ripped me off. Kevin even admitted that he was ripping me off, but said it's policy. There was a booking error that had me book an extra night at 10pm night of - cost the hotel ZERO, but he refused to help me. In an unnecessarily rude and power-tripping manner, he explained it's policy and my problem not his. I will never stay here again - I'd rather sleep in my car. I travel about 5 nights per month for work. This hotel made it into my top 3 for worst experiences ever. How this guy Kevin made manager is beyond me.

I highly recommend Best Western in Taft, CA. It is a quiet, clean hotel with all amenities needed. I would definitely stay here again and wish all hotels were this clean and nice. The breakfast is good and there is great wifi internet in each room. The rooms are new and very clean.

Had to stay in Taft for business a few times. A new and well kept hotel, this hotel is clean and comfortable! Breakfast has quite a few options and well presented. The room has a fridge & microwave for those late night snacks. As I am a healthcare professional, I am very in tune with cleanliness. Stayed here recently with a group of motorcyclists, WOW, what a great place! Super clean, great friendly staff, spacious well appointed rooms! Nice layout for the hotel, great breakfast selection included in the price. Restaurants within walking distance as well. When we went down to our bikes in the morning, we all had a nice little Best Western Rider first aid kit left on our bikes as a gift from the hotel! I will definitely stay here again when I have the chance. Highly recommended!

I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus in Taft, California after an adventure through Carrizo Plain National Monument. It's the second time I've stayed there and will definitely return. The afternoon desk clerk Hector is the best. He makes the check in process seamless. He's also well versed in what to do and where to eat in the town of Taft. I walk in dusty and tired. Walk out refreshed.

We decided spontaneously to drive down to see the super bloom and stayed overnight at the BW in the cool mining town of Taft (only town close to the wildflower sightings). The hotel is brand new, clean, with modern decor, high quality beds, and professional, welcoming staff. Since we arrived late after spending the entire day admiring the super bloom, we didn't go out to dinner but ordered take out to be delivered to the hotel. The front desk staff was super helpful sharing menus and managing the delivery of our food to the room. We would definitely stay here again.

The Inn is new and clean. Our room was on the second floor, and very quiet. There is a road behind, but not an Interchange, so it was quiet at night. The cost is reasonable, with a good breakfast available from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., with coffee in the rooms as well. We had a good night's sleep. Kit T.

We stayed at this hotel because we were visiting the Carrizo Plain for the wild flower super bloom. We had never been to Taft before. We were very pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the hotel. It was clean, attractive, very quiet and very comfortable with a very comfortable bed. Our room overlooked a nice large park-like grassy area in the rear. This is best Best Western Hotel we have stayed at. The front desk clerk was very helpful in trying to help us find a place to eat on Easter Sunday late afternoon. Would definitely stay here again. We travel occasionally on I5 between NorCal and SoCal; it would be worth the trip off of I5 if we needed to stay overnight in this area.

This hotel was a wonderful find for me. I was visiting Carrizo Plains National Monument, and Taft is the closest town that has any hotels/motels. My stay was comfortable and quite nice. I will certainly stay here again when I return to the area.

Picked this hotel as an overnight stop between Death Valley and Monterey. Pass a very comfortable and quiet night. The hotel is modern and clean with spacious rooms and plentiful parking. The rooms were well equipped with a microwave and a fridge and there is plentiful supply of ice. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast next morning was, by US standards, good. The only quibble is there is only one washing machine and one dryer but in fairness we did not expect there to be any.

Drive was a bit winding though... Very reasonable price too. Much cheaper than paso robles or atascadero. Stay here if you're in the area.

Picked this Best Western for a layover after working a 12- hour shift in LA, and wanting an overnight in an area with access too the wild flowers. Arrived late and was greeted by name, Okay, I was the last check in expected, but it was still a nice personal touch. The hotel was new and very clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom extremely clean. The room was large, nicely appointed with a good iron, hairdryer, mini fridge, etc. Breafast was more than adequate with really good eggs...sadly there were sausages, not bacon, but that was my only potential complaint. Nice staff...great stay. Too bad it is out of the way for my usual trips up highway 5.

The hotel was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was exceptionally good. It was an unexpectedly good stay in an out-of-the-way place. We went to see the wildflowers at Carrizo Plain. The monument itself does not have any amenities and the towns around are fairly minimalist. Taft seemed serviceable and the Best Western was better than expected for the area.

Drove up from Los Angeles to see the "super bloom" stayed one night . It was very comfortable. Located a bit off the hwy but very close to walking distance of the restaurants. Arrived Sunday and most places were closed. But found a place that advertised a real good hamburger and it was. If I were to be in Taft again I would stay there.

We stayed based on TA reviews and weren't disappointed. It's a newer property, fresh and clean, with very comfortable beds and pillows. My only disappointment was the rooms are small (and the breakfast area too) which is odd - I didn't think real estate was such a precious commodity in Taft! I guess that's the way of newer buildings, too bad. Taft itself was a pleasant surprise I'm glad we stayed here and not in Bakersfield, it has a historic feel to it, an old oil town. We liked walking to dinner, make sure to try mi casita if you like Mexican!

This hotel is fairly new. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with plenty of electrical outlets for charging devices. We loved that the big window actually opened so that we could sleep with fresh air and avoid the noise of the air conditioner. Coffee was delicious, lots of breakfast choices if you eat the standard cereal and bread type diet. Eggs were reconstituted and pretty tasteless. Overall, this hotel was a great value for the price and the only place I'd recommend in Taft

Enjoyed my stay, staff were helpful and friendly. Everything was very clean and I appreciated the early breakfast time so I could get into the park at sunrise. The staff also told me about the kit foxes she sees sometimes near the parking lot. It was raining so I did not get to see them, but I booked another night already and hope they are there then.

This is a new Best Western (built in early 2016 or so). The rooms are new and clean. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is decent. Obviously you wanna go get breakfast at Jo's Family Restaurant, but this hotel breakfast is adequate (and included free). The pool is very small - they should have just made a hot tub. The workout room is just OK (four machines and none are top of the line) but remember this is Taft CA! I give it 5 stars just because it is an oasis of quality in a sea of mediocrity. You will only be in Taft for family or work! This is the place to stay.

As indicated our stay was very satisfactory. We were attending a reunion and the commons area was convenient for chit chatting. The staff was efficient and helpful. New hotel in heart of small, sleepy town of Taft next to the new monument to its significant oil history. Outstanding restaurants nearby, including Thai food mentioned on national television. This is the best place to stay in Taft.

We were about to spend a fortune for a terrible hotel in a near by town when my wife found this BW just an hour away and it was well worth the extra driving to stay here. After driving for most of a day, we arrived late to a smiling front desk staff, who welcomed us and got is quickly checked-in. They are service focused and detail oriented, we are so grateful to have found this BW. Thank you!

This hotel is a gem hidden in Taft, California. The town is very small - a few antique stores - you've literally stepped back in time. Our reason to stay here? Our son is attending the local college. The hotel is very new - super clean and very reasonable rates. If you need a good stopover before heading to the expensive larger places, this is the place to stay. Continental breakfast provided. Swimming pool, but no jacuzzi. Excellent decor - all new and tasteful.

We ended up here because there was absolutely no availability on the coast on highway 1 within our budget. So glad we made the trip. The hotel was brand new and great facilities. Clean friendly staff and great breakfast. Went to The Bank bar in Taft and had a fabulous experience. Amazing friendly people here and although not exactly sight seeing territory the sights of the oil wells for miles is very interesting!

What a great surprise to find such a quality hotel in Taft! The room was large and comfortable. The bed and sheets were great. I relaxed by the pool and the internet was fast. No more trekking to Bakersfield for a hotel like this at twice the price.

I still do not know why or how I end up in Taft, but if you need to visit Taft this is the place to stay. It is a new hotel, nicely decorated and clean. The breakfast is a basic buffet breakfast. It has free parking and wifi. Basic business hotel, no complaints in a town in the middle of nowhere.

The best place to stay in Taft. The staff are great as are the rooms. There is a very nice pool area and a park across the street. There are also several restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The fitness room has the 3 standard cardio machines and a weight machine. I used the eliptical and the treadmill and both were in good working order.

The hotel is less than a year old. Everything was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and extremely courteous. I was presented with a very cold bottle of water upon my arrival since it was so warm outside. I appreciated the thought. The rooms have fans which is a smart touch for the hot summers there. The air conditioner was nice and quiet too. Very pleased with my stay. Will definitely be returning soon.

This is a new hotel and looks it. Room, and bathroom were fresh and clean, comfortable bed and furnishings. Very quiet at night. The web site advertises a continental breakfast, but it was a full-on breakfast with all the usual things you get in hotels. Plenty of parking easy access. Front desk staff were very friendly, polite and professional, I was impressed. Taft is an interesting out of the way town well worth a short visit. I will be back.

Everything here was new and first rate. My only problem was that the hotel is so new, that the room was still outgassing (probably from the carpet). Fortunately, there was a window, so I was able to adequately vent the room, once the sun went down. The ceiling fan was helpful in chasing out the foul air.

Really enjoyed the place it is a new place opened in late 2015, so it still looked good. I really hope it stays that way. Everyone seemed nice but Hector was very kind and informative. As long as it is kept clean I will definitely be staying here again. I would also recommend it to anyone going to this little town.

overall outside of the early hot weather a nice stay---the one big drawback is the late evening food options are none to be found after 9pm only 2 fast food drive thrus open till around 10-to 11pm either that or drive to bakersfield to have choices to dine

Brand new. Quiet, clean and efficient. Located centrally near superb restaurants. Oil monument across street worth a visit. Breakfast was fine. Exercise room Spartan but adequate. There is no place better to stay in Taft.

We stayed here one night to visit carrizo plains and I was impressed! The hotel must be new because it was gorgeous. Very modern look. The TVs were all new, the free breakfast was great, the rooms was big, and the staff was excellent. It's worth the extra few dollars a night to stay here instead of the local motels. This was probably the nicest best Western I've stayed at!

Not always a fan of Best Western hotels, as they can be quite hit and miss…. this place was good. Room was large and well appointed, clean and inviting. The service was welcoming and tea/coffee station a nice touch. All Taft restaurants were within a short walking distance

A family group stayed overnight in Taft to revisit important places in our family's history. This newly opened hotel was perfect -- clean, comfortable, friendly. We would happily stay there again. It's a great value hotel.

Stopped for a night on our way to Carrizo Plain and then Paso Robles from San Diego. A perfect location for our trip. Very clean and almost brand new. Friendly and helpful staff. Not fancy but everything you would expect from a Best Western.

Greatly enjoyed this super clean Best Western. It has the cleanest bathtub I have ever seen in a hotel. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast was rather dull, and passed it up. Kids would enjoy the make your own waffles though. Would definitely stay here again, on our next visit to Taft.

On our way to camp at Carrizo Plain my husband's allergies were acting up. We decided we needed to stay indoors and were pleasantly surprised to find this lovely hotel in Taft. (Didn't think we'd find a thing!) The hotel is practically brand new with very modern decor. It is super clean and well cared for. I am very sensitive to noise and this was probably one of the quietest rooms I've stayed in. The management was very friendly and graciously changed our room from one right next to the elevator to one away from that noise. We would stay here again.

Highly recommend this Best Western for its proximity to Carrizo Plain. It's the only hotel in Taft. Since the hotel is 3 months new, everything from the exterior of the hotel the rooms and the breakfast area is immaculate. The staff is the best part of the hotel. They are friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and are also accommodating. Breakfast has a mixture of hot and cold options. The internet connection is fantastic even at the far end of the rooms. Can't recommend this place highly enough. One thing, since it's such a new hotel, the doors tend to slam shut.

On our travels the wife and I have stayed in many high end motels and hotels, but this Best Western in Taft puts them all to shame. The rooms were spotless, beds were great and a very good shower head. The outside grounds are clean and well groomed. The breakfast they provide is one to remember, very good selection and everything is fresh. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this Best Western to everybody.

Finally a good place to stay in Taft! We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Best Western Plus Taft Inn. We have been commuting back and forth to the coast rather than stay at any of the other local hotels. Now we can visit our children and grandchildren and don't have to do a turn around trip.

I have visited Taft on business several times in the last twenty years or so and although it is a quiet, peaceful town it's also one that's economically depressed. This last visit (last weekend) I stayed at the Taft Best Western. It's brand new, clean, and was a pleasant place to spend the evening. It's conveniently located so getting to the downtown area is very easy and it's quiet as well. I would recommend.

Very clean and maintained motel. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are well kept and clean. Would recommend this motel to anyone. Hector who works nights was always available when we needed something or had a question. They were willing to make our next days reservations for us. Glad we chose to stay there.

This is a new building, has all the amenities one expects in a BW+. The desk staff was friendly, if a little new and stiff. The included breakfast was excellent. Our bed was comfortable, AC was powerful. The shower was in a tub, not our favorite design. An elevator serves the three floors. Parking is free and adequate. The hotel stands in a barren, gritty brown field, so don't expect interesting environs. Our only quibble with the Taft BW+ is the cheap motel soap they offer for hand and bath use. Think 'lye soap.' It wasn't up to the quality of the property. We suggest byo bar. We paid about $100/night. That seemed high, considering it's in Taft CA, and demand was minimal (the building was almost empty). The quality breakfast tipped the balance in favor of paying up.

In the sorry town that is Taft (I was born and raised in Taft so I know), in death throes with the depressed oil market, this is a gem. Super clean, super nice, super staff! I wouldn't stay at the filthy motels in Taft but will always stay when I'm in Taft for work or pleasure.

Brand new hotel great rooms comfortable beds knowledgeable helpful staff. Ask the clerk for some fruit in the morning if you have to leave before breakfast at 6 AM. Stayed two night and had no problems.

First time in Taft and i happened to stay at this location on the opening day. Everything was new and the staff was friendly. Did not expect much in the town but got my money's worth at Best Western. Wishing them good luck.

Got to stay in a brand new motel. Everything was great. Staff was very helpful and the facility was wonderful. Manager was very knowledgeable about the area and fine dining in Bakersfield. We will be staying again on our next trip to Taft.

The staff was polite, and friendly. Rooms very clean, and the breakfast was hot and fresh. I would stay here again if ever visiting the area. I really loved the set up of the room. It is the nicest hotel in the area.
