    « Flawless »

It's a beautiful building and the staff were great. I would like to thank Trevor especially for going out of his way and making my daughters 5th birthday special by letting her create her own cocktail and even treating her to a dance! Brilliant experience and we will be back.

    « Just OK »

Visited with colleagues Room spacious and bath shower nice Bed was 2 singles pushed together, but not secured. Old beds hence a large mattress topper. Not the best night sleep Dirty net curtain and mildew on old window frames Large flat screen TV The restaurant was OK and my steak was nice On checking out, need to double check your bill. They messed up my colleague and my bill Still found out that they also charged us for breakfast, which was included in price Don't think I will be back

    « Disappointed »

Best thing about this room was the large bathroom and the large tv,the rest of the room needs attention to detail and updating, broken hook on back of bathroom door, luggage stand loose bolt, bathroom tap missing retaining nut, very little drawer space so if you stay ask not to be given room 272. Hotel also lacking a quiet lounge, If the weather is bad the only place to relax is your room or the bar/restaurant,on the up side the staff are very helpful and friendly.they advised me to have my electronic key reset every time I returned to the room to save coming up and down.

    « Great location...friendly staff...cold room?? »

The hotel was a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport ( £16) the location of the hotel was excellent...it was right in the heart of everything and everywhere was in walking distance??and the hotel is situated down a side road away from heavy traffic and noise??the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful...the hotel suite was very spacious and clean and had 2 massive 50" tvs! The room had 3 plug in heater on when we arrived and without them the room would have been freezing!??the bar in the hotel is very poor...if you are going at the weekend expect it to be full as there is no separate function room for parties and there was parties in it all weekend and we couldn't relax and have a drink??Tip: if you want to eat out in the city at the weekend make sure to reserve a table or you will not get one! I found out the hard way??

    « Excellent! »

Weekend trip to Liverpool. Liked location, just out of busy town but within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to do...Docks, both Cathedrals, main shopping centre, Museums etc. Rooms were excellent. Kitchen area (top notch!), dining area, two settees, spacious bathroom and very very comfortable bed. Warm, quiet, clean, friendly staff and modern feel. We parked on the secure Q park round the corner. Safe, clean parking and got 50% discount with a card given to us by hotel. I would stop there again. Loved it.

    « Birthday celebrations »

Visited as two couples to celebrate friends 50th on arrival one room was not ready a little disappointing, but they parked our car for us which is fab for £15. Checking in was very smooth and helpful only observation really would be to inform guests of the restaurant being closed on the Saturday night due to a xmas party we were not informed of this but think they should have let us know at check it. Room was nice, furnished royally as velvet and blue, very clean and complimentary water and fresh milk for tea and coffee which was nice. Breakfast help yourself all hot and fresh. A little bit of mix up at check out as tried to charge us for x2 cars we arrived in one and for x7 breakfasts there were only x 4 of us . Very Christmassy too lovely decorations. Some guests were very noisy one morning at 4.30 am, but then you are in a hotel. Friends bathroom was massive with bath and shower. See pics below.

    « Anniversary Weekend. »

Me and my husband stayed here for our anniversary. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were outstanding and so friendly. We had bed and breakfast, there was plenty of variety for breakfast. The room we stayed in was spacious and lovely and clean. I was very pleased with the price we paid. It was definetly value for money. I would stay there again.

« Awful just Awful service »

Stayed here Nov 25th and was advised beforehand that the restaurant and bar was not available sue to Xmas functions I was upgraded to a suite which was the only good thing to happen at my stay Room service was not available between 7 and 930 due to functions despite me being told room service would be available all the time. At 620 I phoned for got food and at 645 received a phone call saying they had lost the order saying only sandwiches available. I managed to negotiate hot food but after being told I would have to wait at least 30 minutes to purchase potatos and boil them!! T do on what happens next TV remote control didn't work and room service menu not in room. They insisted it was and it eventually transpired there was no menu and they had to replace remote. I suffered a splitting migraine and I enquired where I could purchase pain killers. Shortly after I was asked if I was going out tonight and I said I wouldn't be ordering room service and enquiring about pain killers if I was well!! A complete farce and I haven't even slept a night yet and I have made the fatal mistake of paying up front at check in. To be continued

« An excellent short stay »

The Hotel is situated in a very good location very near all Liverpool's main attractions most of which are in easy walking distance. The Hotel itself depicts a fine example of the cities architectural past and is tastefully and traditionally decorated to a very high standard. The rooms albeit quite small are immaculately clean, comfortable and have all the requisites one would expect from a four-star hotel. Accommodated for a short break on a bed and breakfast basis we found the staff and management to be very friendly and knowledgeable who set and assured very high standards. The Bar and Brasserie were also tastefully decorated and furnished although apart from the buffet breakfast we did not dine in the Hotel. All in all a very comfortable stay.

« Bar and restaurant closures »

hotel was in an excellent location, walking distance to shops etc. Room was clean and comfortable. Very disappointed with Restaurant and Bar being closed for a private party. How can they say it is a 4 star restaurant without a restaurant or bar??? They told us as we checked out that they had been serving drinks free of charge in the rooms - however, on check out this is too late to order anything!!! emailed manager on our return home and he didn't even have the decency to reply!! very disappointed

    « Perfect! »

We had a fantastic stay here. Wonderfully friendly staff, scrupulously clean and I loved the huge shower head above the bath (photo really doesn't do it justice, it's about the size of a side plate ) The TV in our room which was concealed behind a mirror stopped working and we were moved to another room which was equally clean and comfortable but even bigger than our first room. High ceilings add to the majestic feel. Only ten minutes walk to the city centre and located on a very quiet street we had a very restful night here. Highly recommend.

    « A perfect stay »

Based in Liverpool city centre , sits the Richmond , with a truly beautiful entrance , you are automatically drawn the grandeur of the building , with architecture of such a high calibre you could be in central London , not to take any attention away from Liverpool and its beauty , a carpeted rise of steps brings you to a spotless lobby area , with impressive marble features , polished brass and a sense of warmth , reception is situated to the right of the lift , a modern area , a tall well decorated Christmas tree automatically draws the eye , the reception team are faultless , friendly , highly efficient, and professional, without any fakery, these people seem to genuinely enjoy their work , check in literally took minutes , nice little touches really make you feel a guest , being offered a map of the city , I thought was a really nice gesture. Valet parking was arranged within minutes , with paper work sorted we alighted to our room. Our room(433) , situated on the fourth floor was again of a high standard , ceiling to floor , spotlessly clean, equipped with all you could need for a stay , again nice little touches make the stay so much more enjoyable, fresh milk in the fridge , also a complimentary bottle of prosecco (included in the stay package) , a large television, usual bathroom items. The room was air conditioned, already churning out a delightful 24c to take the chill of a 4c day outside , the bed was made to a standard that you didn't want to get in it ! , linen crisp and very comfortable, pillows and duvet of a high quality The bathroom again modern yet comfortable, well equipped with yet more lavish marble , the rain drop shower was brilliant , water hot and of a brilliant pressure. After a night at the empire theatre, and a few wines ... I became ever so slightly peckish , and the offerings of the kebab shop round the corner really didn't appeal , so upon arriving back at the hotel , slightly tipsy we were greeted by the night reception team , smiling and enquiring about our evening , then we asked about room service , well again we were not disappointed, offered sandwiches , pizza and chips , with no quibble or trouble , we opted for a pizza and chicken sandwich, both delivered to our room , in under 20 minutes , presented well and very tasty and all for under £20. After a very comfortable sleep we awoke , looking forward to breakfast , situated in the fresh looking elegantly lit restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly team who seated us promptly , being left to make your own breakfast is a blessing to ourselves , tea , coffee , specialist coffees, orange juice , apple juice and cold milk all available on tap at the bar , as well as a continental breakfast bar with meats , cheeses , fresh fruit , yogurts, a plentiful selection of cereals , and dried fruits also , then on to the serious side of breakfast .... the full English , I haven't mentioned that we arrived a shade late for breakfast but you would believe that it had just been cooked , sausage , bacon, hash brown , button mushroom, tomato, beans , scrambled egg, all of a really good quality , sausage and bacon well cooked and of a really good standard , beans hot and not stuck together as you would expect from a buffet style breakfast bar , both white and brown bread for toast again both of a good quality , not forgetting a good choice of pastries , preserves and butter. Truly scrumptious!! Now to check out , we had decided to take some air and see the city , again returning to reception we were greeted by a friendly face , who told us that leaving our bag and car with them was no problem at all and we could leave them as long as needed , returning at 3pm our car was brought straight round for us ,not to sound like a broken record but again the little touches made the difference, seeing our keys in a sealed marked envelope gave me a real sense of trust and respect for your belongings To anyone thinking of booking , do not hesitate, to anyone looking to not spend the earth and be made to feel so very important, book now Massive thanks to everyone we came into contact with , keep doing what you do By the way I haven't mentioned it before but our stay was to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this hotel and all the truly amazing staff made it one to remember Thank you again Mr&Mrs Winn

    « Fab Christmas Party :) »

Had a Christmas party here and it was absolutely brilliant. The room was beautifully decorated and we got a lovely glass of bubbly on arrival. The food was delicious, I had butternut squash soup then goats cheese and red onion tart, so tasty! The staff were so attentive checking we had enough wine/beers and brought more when we were running low(we didn't even have to ask). Thought the DJ was brill. Overall gorgeous surroundings, lovely food, fab music and all inclusive bar - The Richmond knows how to throw a good party! I would highly recommend it and look forward to booking again next year :)

    « Lovely »

The room was huge and lovely and clean. Only issue was in the middle of the night the pipes sounded like a shower was constantly running so didn't get much sleep. Explained in the morning and we got a late check out for free. Staff were really lovely and apologetic. I would stay again i'd just make sure i got a different room.

    « Week-end Visit »

Visited Liverpool with another couple - we had to change rooms as were in the loft and too hot and a bit basic- The new rooms which are apartments were good with ensuite facilities - the staff here are superb - nothing is too much trouble - we had breakfasts at £10 each - excellent quality - the hotel is very well located for waterfront and shops - happy to stay again despite the poor start - ps there are no city views!

« Lovely boutique style hotel with friendly staff »

I stayed overnight on a business trip so a flying visit really - it was easy to find. Reception staff very friendly and I love the offer of valet parking. My bedroom was very spacious and comfortable and breakfast the next morning was good too. Will definitely be back as a leisure guest.

« Central and friendly but disorganised »

This is my fourth stay here over two years. The hotel is located in the centre of Liverpool and the staff are helpful and friendly. The Richmond's main problem is its lack of organisation. The last time I stayed here they knew nothing about the booking (and the same for a colleague). Luckily I'd printed my booking off and taken it with me. This time, upon arrival I was told I would be charged. I pointed out the billing was done centrally and again had to show the printed booking. I was given my room which was twin bedded (I have a bad back and had deliberately booked a double ). This was altered without a fuss. Next morning I was told I was not eligible for breakfast but was accepted when I said I was. Finally, when I came to check out, I was again told I would have to pay - the printed booking showing the billing was done centrally was again produced and again accepted with grace. At no time were the staff officious and all readily accepted my explanations, but there is obviously an oranisational problem here . My advice - make sure you take proof of your booking with you.

    « Excellent place »

Stayed in one of the suites in this hotel at the weekend for a girls weekend! Couldn't believe how nice the hotel was as it was kind of a last minute booking and we didn't have much of a choice! It was a good location, the suite was big enough for all of the girls to get ready, the beds were So comfy and the lady at reception was more than helpful during our stay! Would deff stay here again and would deff recommend it! 10/10

« On of the best hotels I've been in »

There is so much to love about this hotel. It's classy and elegant and very convenient for the city centre (although Liverpool cabs are extremely reasonable). The staff are second to none and absolutely nothing is too much trouble; they go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Rooms are wonderfully comfortable. The en-suites are modern and tasteful with great power showers. Beds are cosy and everything is spotless. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the Richmond. Thanks to everyone for a great experience.

    « Good rooms layout »

I stayed here with my wife and two young daughters on a leisure visit to Liverpool. It is clean and quiet. Staff was great and their room set up with individual rooms off a lockable hall worked very well with kids. Good location. Only complaint was their charges for parking. They failed to inform me of the cost of this when it was offered. Nonetheless, I would certainly go again.

« Early christmas shopping trip »

We stayed at this hotel on Friday 4th November 2016, and found the hotel to be okay. The only thing that spoilt it for us was that we had been out around various bars that evening and had a few large southern comforts with lemonade averaging £8-£9 for two. We decided to come back to the hotel bar for a few more before settling for the night, but only had the one when the price came to £18!!!. we could have bought a bottle for that. The bar was very quiet and now we know why. Pity as we would have probably stayed there again, but not at those prices.

Booked as a surprise for my wife...Typed spa Liverpool into Google was directed to 'the Richmond hotel & spa" clicked the link was directed to Wowcher, purchased £80, was informed when I tried to book treatments, it's female only now. Nothing resolved, pretty peeved to be honest, will not use again. Who ever I spoke to wasn't interested, saying it's googles fault for leaving it on, and that deal was from march, if your directed to the Wowcher deal which says that then why would check before purchasing! Not even the offer of an upgrade or nothing. Not good for business, we were looking forward to it! Plenty on better hotels in Liverpool, room at bit shabby and dark, no windows to open, heating blows warm even when turned off! ????

« Elegant and Classy Hotel, (Albeit In An "Off The Beaten Track" Location.) »

This hotel is situated a short walk from the main attractions of the city but is nevertheless an excellent base for visiting and exploring Liverpool. The hotel has an elegant and genteel ambience. The rooms, many of which are mini-apartments, are comfortable, clean and very well-appointed with excellent bathrooms, large flat-screen T.V.s, sofas, etc. In summary, this is a high quality hotel that provides a welcoming and relaxing place to unwind after a day of sight-seeing, shopping, etc.

« Brilliant service. Lovely food. »

We were bought an experience by our daughter that included a three course meal at the Richmond. We were treated so well from the start. Our table was not quite ready so we were offered a complementary drink while we waited. Josh took over when we were shown to our table. Everyone was so attentive and made us feel important and special. The hotel had a large event on that delayed our main course, but we were informed of this offered apologies offered bread or drinks to compensate. Nothing was too much. Our meal was delicious and all additional drinks and the steak supplement were not even considered to be charged. The customer was always happy. Outstanding service for all. We were just sorry that the Hotel was fully booked as we would loved to have been staying there. Could not state highly enough tha service from the staff at the Hotel. The owners should be proud. Thank you.

« Long term stay in apartment room »

After securing a six month contract position in Liverpool, and spending the first couple of weeks staying at local Travelodges. One of my colleagues told me to try the Richmond as a number of people had stayed there in the past and enjoyed it.... And what a difference it's made to my working week. I now have a wonderful apartment room, with it's own kitchen and dining room, Fresh bottled water and small bottles of milk are left in the fridge every day, I can cook my own meals, and eat at a proper table or use the hotel's excellent facilities.. the choice is mine. The staff have been wonderful, alway polite and helpful, pointing me in the right direction for local amenities and places to visit of an evening, nothing seems to be too much trouble if I need something for my room, or being able to leave a few things in the baggage room over the weekend. Sometimes it's the small things that make a difference, a friendly good morning and a chat if it's not too busy when I come back to the hotel, it makes it a home from home. I can't praise them enough. I'm looking forward to staying for many more months to come and would thoroughly recommend the apartment rooms if you're planning on a long stay.

    « Short City Break »

Great location - short walk to town and to the docks - staff are friendly and the hotel bar is gorgeous. Beds are comfy and the hotel room was very clean - there is an onsite car park for £15 a night or a close NCP car park that charged us £13 for two nights (we opted for this) the NCP car park is literally two streets away less than a 5 minute walk!

    « Really impressed »

Last minute booking and not disappointed Good central position about 10 minutes walk from Albert Docks and Liverpool One. A short drive too to Anfield and Goodson. Really nice rooms. Well appointed and really good size. Bathroom was massive and the rain shower head was lovely first thing in the morning. Breakfast is extensive. Something for everyone. Recommended for a visit to the city for shopping or the footie.

    « A Hidden Gem in a great location »

My family of four travelled to Liverpool for a soccer match at Anfield Stadium. I chose this hotel for its close proximity to the stadium and downtown location. It was listed as approximately three miles from Anfield. We took the taxi to the game but after the game there were no taxis available, We were able to use our Google maps to walk back to our hotel with ease. It also was only a short walk to the train station and the historic waterfront from our hotel. The hotel used to be an apartment building, Each room is slightly unique yet spacious. The lobby is inviting and a small bar area serves breakfast within the building. Rooms were clean and quiet. We had two rooms for our family,

    « Great as ever »

My friend and I've stayed at this great hotel the past 3 times we've been visiting Liverpool. We've loved the hotel since our first visit. Although our trips predominantly are because of our dedication to Liverpool FC this hotel offers everything we could ask for. The staff at the reception and in the dining area are always very kind, helpful and ready to assist. The hotel is in walking distance of the central station and within a few minutes walk to the town center and Mathew Street (Cavern Club amongst others). Liverpool One, the Albert Dock (the Beatles Museum) and the Liverpool Museum is within a 10-15 minutes walk. We'll definetly be back again. To visit the hotel, Anfield, the Croc and the town :-)

« Could be so much more »

My wife and I arrived on Saturday for 2 nights. Hotel is clean and looks well on arrival. Reception area very stylish and staff always helpful. The room we had was on the 2nd floor, again was clean with coffee and tea facilities and a tv on the wall. There is a massive big crack on the bathroom mirror and also some of the floor tiles seem quite lose. On inspection of the window there was lovely stylish curtains but behind these curtains there was a grubby see through curtain and also another crack this time on the window. The bed was the worst part though, as it was the firmest mattress I've ever slept on. The amount of alcohol we had didn't seem to help with me having a good night sleep. I personally think this hotel is overpriced if they don't get issues like this fixed and would look at staying elsewhere on our next trip to a wonderful city.

    « Great hotel »

We picked this by chance,it had some good reviews so we decided to give it a try. On arrival we were welcomed by the reception staff, their pleasant and cheerful welcome made us feel special. We booked a apartment and this was great even though we didn't use the kitchen it was nice if we wanted to. We used the restaurant /bar for a light bight this was excellent and the restaurant and bar area are very well decorated giving you a feel of a boutique hotel. Breakfast is buffet style and all the choices from fruit, cereal and cooked food was of the highest standard During our stay all the staff were helpful and pleasant and would be more than willing to help with anything we wanted. Thanks to all will be back.

« Ticked all the boxes for a 1 night stay »

Stayed here with my brother for 1 night whilst attending a game at Anfield. Central location about a 10 min walk from the main shopping area. We had a twin bedded apartment room which had a sitting and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. Staff were friendly and efficient. Check in was smooth and they kept our bags stored before and after. Late checkout was only 10 pounds which we availed of. Didn't try the bar or dining room. Got a great rate through tripadvisor. All in all recommend for a short stay in a great city

    « Long weekend »

Stayed here for 3 nights with 2 other couples. We had rooms on 1st floor. 1 room had a kitchen and table and was very nice other 2 rooms were next door with a main door so that all rooms could be closed off. All rooms were very nice and very clean. We were in room 132 and my only complaint was when the room above us flushed the toilet we though the ceiling was going to collapse it was very noisy especially during the night. Breakfast is very good with plenty to choose from. Central to all attractions and not far from lime Street station. Great hotel will definitely return

    5
    « Lovely Hotel »

The Richmond was a lovely hotel, very nice breakfast, lovely welcoming staff and great car valet service. Our only issue was the car valeting was confusing at first, our GPS took us to the hotel car park, but you can't get in you have to pull your car onto the double yellow lines in front of the Hotel, which is also a cycle lane. Very confusing at first because you feel like you're going to get a ticket, but it's a quirk of the hotel.

    5
    « Excellent hotel »

We have stayed in a number of hotels in Liverpool over the last few years and for the price range this has to be the best so far. The staff were really cheerful and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is nice and clean with a bit of character and in a fairly good location. The food was really good too. Would definitely re visit here in the future.

    « Half term getaway »

I thought I'd let my boyfriend arrange the hotel for our little break as I was feeling brave and was very pleasantly surprised! The room - a junior suite-was beautiful, high ceilings, a waterfall shower, two enormous TVs, and a mini kitchen with a well stocked hospitality tray and a fridge containing fresh milk and bottles of water (much welcomed as we were there for the nightlife). Everybody we encountered was so friendly, be it guests in the hotel, staff or locals. We thought our hometown in the north east was the friendliest place on earth but I'm now questioning that! The hotel is situated in a great location-just a short walk to anything you need. All in all, a brilliant stay and one of our best trips to Liverpool to date. Would highly recommend

    « Lovely hotel! »

Stayed 2 nights & was very happy. The breakfast is one of the best I've ever had. Staff friendly & helpful, couple of minor criticisms - need a mirror in the room not just the bathroom & mattress was very soft - think they're ready for replacing! Will definitely return if I get the opportunity!

    5
    « Highly recommend »

The Room was pristine set in an elegant building the staff were great ,located heart of the city you couldn't pick a better place to stay be it work or pleasure with all the bars restaurants and theatres and attractions on the door step. After me and my sister spent a relaxing sunday morning in the spa facing were again the staff were friendly and welcoming making me a fresh fruit smoothie and nothing was to much trouble..we both agreed on the same thing we would have changed about are stay at the hotel and that was if we could have have gone on the Friday for 2 nights instead of just the one night that we had arranged. Although if travelling alone, or wanting a short break away it would perfect for a mid week, 3 night stay ,that would be even better.

    « Not A Happy Experience »

A three course dinner at the Richmond was part of a Red Letter Day experience - but it should have been "red for danger". After being shown to our table and given menus we were ignored for 10 minutes until I called over a waitress who was very pleasant. We ordered two starters one came without dressing the other looked like a blob of fishy sandwich filling. The belly pork with celeriac mash was very fatty pork in a very unnaturally tasting savoury gravy with a dollop of largely celeriac free mash. We opted for a dessert only to be told that it had all gone at an earlier wedding event. Choosing Etonian Mess with raspberries, we were told that only strawberry was available. When it came it was a dollop of pinky cream with a few crumbs of meringue and one strawberry cut and fanned out on the edge of the plate. When we arrived we noticed a white piano and thought how nice for twenty or so other diners to listen to a pianist. Well one did arrive with their parents and for a good five minutes banged and ran their hands up and down the keys. Obviously there was no maitre de to ask them to stop! This was part of a package, but had I had to pay separately the full charge of the meal I would have refused to pay. The food and presentation was of very poor quality and I can only assume that it was the regular chef's night off!

Booked 2 nights. Room was lovely. However light in dressing area didnt work so couldnt see anything when getting ready. Reported it. But nothing. Extractor didnt work in bathroom either. Went out for day and came back to room at 4pm. Room not made up - which is very poor for 4 star hotel. Had to ask them to bring some teabags as they only gave two! Really! Fresh milk in fridge but 2 regular teabags! Such a shame. A little attention to detail and could so easily have been excellent! Wont be returning!

    « Fantastic staff »

Lovely hotel, centrally located with a short walk to main shopping area of Liverpool 1. Room was excellent with a really extensive breakfast menu. Staff very friendly and helpful particularly Sophie in reception who gave us great tips about what to see and do during our stay.

« Still waiting for breakfast »

My partner took me here for a night away. Staff were helpful and polite. The hotel is lovely and the apartment we stayed in was clean and comfortable. Our only issue was we ordered breakfast to our room and when it didn't turn up we rang twice but it still never arrived. So be prepared to go hungry. At checkout they tried to charge us but then realised we didn't get it.

« Not as good as we'd hoped »

The hotel has plus points but unfortunately some negatives too! The valet parking and welcoming reception staff were great pluses. As was the comfy bed and good shower. The breakfast was poor with what we felt inferior ingredients. My husband couldn't drink the house red, served by the glass and the hospitality tray had one pack of biscuits in a room for two and limited drink choice. The fresh milk and water were welcome though. Overall its not up to the standard we expected.

    « Disappointed »

The setting for the restuarant is not the best the decor is a bit dark and the room feels more like a waiting area with tables. The starter I had was nice scotch egg with a bloody mary sauce was well thought out with good flavour. The main course was not good. Chicken with a tarragon sauce with mushrooms and gnocchi, on the plus side the chicken was again well cooked and the mushrooms selection was a good mix. From that point onwards it went down hill, the sauce lacked any tarragon taste and was thick, heavy and unbalanced. The gnocchi were heavy, very doughy and really unpleasant to eat. It could have been a nice dish without the gnocchi, using tagliatelle and a far lighter tarragon cream sauce, as it stands it doesn't work. Not a restaurant I can really recommend or would revisit.

    « Good stay again »

Stayed while visiting our daughter we have been a few times and will keep returning. We have seen improvements and changes on our visits which shows the hotel is moving forward. Breakfast was good and we liked the new addition of a plate warmer. Room was excellent as always with small kitchen and living space it was very clean and modern. Reception staff efficient and one member of the breakfast staff worked efficiently and professional at a very very busy time with a smile too. We visited at a weekend so the hotel was busy which you would expect. We will visit again.

« Lovely room but that's about it »

I booked this hotel months in advance for my boyfriends birthday and I assumed as they took my card details from me it was all payed there was nothing about having to pay when we got there so arriving at the hotel and getting told I had to pay 80 pound there and then was not ideal I was convinced I had already payed but apparently they just hold your details and don't actually charge you !! But besides that the room itself was fabulous we stayed in the junior suite with a full kitchen living area with couch , 2 50" tv's , a large bed and nice bathroom, could not fault the room at all great VFM. Had drinks in the bar which were expensive but this was expected and only 2 staff on the reception with about 30 people all waiting to check out at the same time ! Over all would stay here again just wish they'd of made the payment situation more clear.

« Red letter day experience should have been red for danger! »

As part of a Red Letter Day experience a three course meal was included in the deal. We arrived st the Richmond, were shown to a table, given a menu then ignored for 10 minutes. I called over a waitress who took our order. The sea food starter looked like sandwich filling and my wife's salad had no dressing. We ordered belly pork which was fatty and covered in what tasted like a packet sauce. Celeriac mash with no celeriac and few vegetables. We chose a dessert which we were told was off so opted for Eton Mess with raspberries to be told that there were no raspberries so would strawberries be OK? When it came it was a dollop of pink cream with a few meringue crumbs and one sliced strawberry fanned out on the side of the plate. There seemed to be nobody in charge of the dining room and when a couple arrived with their young son who banged and ran his hand up and down the keys of the piano for five minutes it was the last straw. This was at 7.45 with at least twenty other diners eating their meal. A very poor meal and a disgrace considering the cost.

    « Well placed hotel »

We stayed here for my sisters 40th for 1 night. The hotel is close to the train station and shops. The rooms were spacious and clean. Complimentary milk and water were left in the fridge in the room. We had a room on the 3rd floor at the front of the hotel, there was a lot of noise from students (student accommodation is less than a 3 min walk away) in the early hours of the morning and that was with Windows closed! Our package included breakfast which was fantastic, lots of choice and a super full English! Would stay here again but ask for a room away from the front of the hotel.

    « Terrible Customer service »

I stayed here for a single night for work. The room itself was good, milk in the fridge, plenty of power sockets and a nice bed. Unfortunately my TV in the room was not working, so i rang down to reception at around 6:15pm to let them know and they said they would send someone up. No one came, I rang again at 7:15 to ask them how long it would be and they told me 5 minutes. No one came, I rang again at 8.00 and they told me maintenance had gone home but a manager would be up to take a look in the next few minutes. I rang again at 9:30pm to inform them that no one had been up and i was still waiting! 6:15-9:30 I had been waiting! And about 10 minutes later someone turned up to take a look and inform me that it was broken. I was offered another room but at this point I couldn't be bothered. I also left me electric toothbrush in the bathroom (I know this for a fact). When i realised what id done I rang the hotel on the Wednesday morning at around 8am (I checked out on the Tuesday). They said they would check housekeeping and get back to me, I head nothing all day so at around 8pm I rang them back. The lady on reception had no idea what i was talking about and couldn't see any enquires or nots about a left item. Again, i was told that housekeeping would be in touch the following day (Thursday). Its now Friday Lunch time and still I have head nothing...I am getting SICK AND TIRED of ringing this hotel! Summary: The rooms are nice but the staff simply dont care!

    « Avoid the bar/brasserie if a single traveller! »

Stayed here for a business trip. After a nightmare trying to get a room, I got in and was pleasantly surprised with the room I had been given. The fridge and milk in the room is a nice touch, and the room is a good size. The bathroom has no bath but I wasn't too concerned about this. The hotel bar and brasserie is absolutely poor, and ruined my stay at The Richmond. I stayed in house for a meal my first night and wasn't offered a menu until I asked. The second night I waited to be seated - the bar isn't too busy at this point - and two members of staff walked past and didn't acknowledge me at all despite me waiting there. I then take a seat and yet again am ignored by the staff and have to ask for a menu. I wonder if this is because I am on my own? A couple wait where I was standing and are attended to straight away. Breakfast is good - self service but satisfactory. Sadly, I will recommend that the company does not use the hotel again for the purpose. I am appalled with the way I have been treated by the staff in the brasserie.

« Superb suite at an incredible price »

When checking out where to stay in Liverpool I was surprised by the cost of a suite, having only booked 2 days prior to our arrival - it was cheaper than most other family rooms within hotels in the city. The suite was very spacious for our young family with two boys - in addition to the king size bed there was a comfortable sofa bed, dining table for 6 and kitchenette. Would have been 5 stars but we were unable to get heating to work and initially no bedding for sofa bed. The lady at reception couldn't have to tried to help us more and whilst not being able to get the heating to work she was able to source us a heater for the bedroom. Has not put us off the hotel at all and we will definitely aim to stay here when we return to the city.

    « Sunday lunch! »

My partner and I had lunch yesterday - using a voucher we had as a gift! The meal was out of this world! Home-made scotch egg, panfried mushrooms, steak, and sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce... were all to die for! For me the pudding was the most indescribable pudding! The steak amazing! Starters- amazing! Our waitress was so helpful and friendly! Going out of her way to make us happy!

    « Afternoon tea »

We were given a voucher as a present - Afternoon Tea for 2 at The Richmond Hotel. The waiter asked if we wanted tea or coffee so I asked for Lapsang Souchong. I was met with a blank look and so I asked what sort of teas they offered. It was a very ordinary selection - Earl Grey, green tea, peppermint and a few other infusions, so I went for Earl Grey. My husband asked for normal tea and how normal it was - Tetley! Not even Twinings! When the teapots were put on the table, there was a terrible smell which I traced to my pot of Earl Grey. When I took the lid off, I was nearly sick. It appeared to be a pot of hot, gone-off milk, with an Earl grey teabag in it. I couldn't attract the waiter's attention so I took it back to the bar myself. Oh, it was so grim and obviously put me off for the rest of the meal. The cake part of the tea consisted of 2 fruit scones with some jam (and we had butter rather than clotted cream), 2 squares of carrot cake, a chocolate brownie, a berry mouse on a cheesecake base (not well set, very crumbly) and a chocolate mouse affair on a similar biscuit base. They were all pleasant enough. There were 6 finger sandwiches, 2 each of egg mayonnaise, ham, cheese and pickle. Cheese and pickle?? I was expecting a smoked salmon at the least. It was all a bit...ordinary. From a personal point of view I thought the decor ghastly and the room so lacking in ambience. There was some live piano/vocal music but it was a bit too loud for a room with 4 customers in it - my husband and I couldn't hear each other speak. Overall a very disappointing experience. If you want something special, there are better places in Liverpool.

« Very disappointing hotel but fantastic city »

Very disappointed with this hotel. Catalogue of errors. Very poor check in, we booked 2 rooms with our grown up children months ago to celebrate my husbands 50th, but rooms weren't even on the same floor, let alone next to each other, they had a double room when we'd requested a twin, they couldn't change it. One of the rooms wasn't ready, they said sit in the bar we'll ring you but still no call at 4.30pm, they said they'd forgotten as it was busy. Very tired hotel and rooms, lots of faults, cracked toilet seat (very painful!!) very loud double toilet flush on the loo which was strange. Beautiful modern bathroom though and great shower. Breakfast was poor not enough staff on duty, they weren't even very friendly, just left us standing around for ages by the wait to be seated sign, walking past without even acknowledging we were there, very uncomfortable, went to find someone at the bar eventually. We had to ask for everything, tea spoons, milk, glasses nothing was topped up (the same both mornings) We expected far better for the money we paid, we always go the extra mile and pay for a nice hotel when it's a special birthday anniversary ect, but this is the poorest we've stayed in. It's even situated in a run down area, with lots around it boarded up and empty. it is close to town though just a 10 min walk away. We didn't let it spoil our stay as the city is truly amazing. We wouldn't stay in this hotel again or recommend to family and friends, there's far better hotels for the same price in the city.

    « Apartment/hotel »

Good idea with private facilities but a good shared area where we could get together for a meal and a chat. You can use as hotel dining room or use the cooking facilities to cook your own. We had 2 nights and ate out the first night but cooked the second night. Then we just chilled and chatted the evening away without having to go out again.

    « Luxurious »

Despite being in a rather lonely looking street off a busy road, this is a good find. It's a ten minute walk from town centre, 20 minutes from the old docks and conference centre/arena. Hotel has a rather grand feel to it, rooms are quite luxurious and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant good value and the food is good. Excellent WIFI. Hope to stay here again when next in town. Thankyou for a great stay.

    « Weekend break - Lovely hotel »

We had arranged to meet up with a lovely couple we met in Ibiza earlier in the year and were advised to chose this city centre hotel by them. We weren't disappointed as the service was excellent and the room we had was very spacious and had a massive stylish bathroom. The king-size bed was top quality as was the decor. Although we booked just one room, I liked the idea that if you had a larger party of family/friends you could actually book upto three adjoining rooms, all of which were serviced by the one main outer door, turning it into a family suite. We didn't eat at the hotel, as we had booked a table at Piccolino Italian for that evening, so can't comment on the food. There was a wedding reception been held so the dining/bar area looked really busy anyway. There was a choice of parking, each onsite valet (£15) or a discounted 24hr pass for the Q-Park multi storey (£8) which was a short walk away, which we opted for. The only real issue we had was the main lift had just broken as we arrived so we were left to climb with our cases up six flights of stairs to the third floor, which was a bit of on ordeal for my asthmatic wife. Later on that day we discovered there was a second lift which would of saved the earlier struggle if it had been pointed out.

    « Overnight Stop »

A pretty poor experience for the price. The room was tatty, looking worn and grubby. The sink and shower didn't work properly, making enough noise to wake up the rest of the floor. The only redemption was the breakfast, but even then several cups on the table were dirty. Not the best experience :(

    « Disappointing room »

Having stayed at a number of Best Western hotels we were looking forward to our stay here. We had a double room booked, however the only thing big enough was the bed. It was possible to walk round the bed. It was not possible to work here as the desk was only big enough to accommodate the tea tray and the phone. One upright chair was provided with no place else to sit. There was no mirror other than in the bathroom where it was not possible to plug in a hairdryer etc. Our room was one of three off a smaller hall off the main hall. The door to the smaller hall was accessed by key card which throughout the second night of our stay we were having to open in the early hours for the people having a party in another room off the inner hall. Breakfast is far superior at a cafe across the road where the coffee and food is superb.

« The Richmond Hotel - Hatton Garden »

Have just returned from a great time at The Richmond Hotel at Hatton Garden, Liverpool The hotel is located in the business district of Liverpool, just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of this amazing city. I arrived by train and it is only a few minutes walk from there. Apparently they do offer car parking at the rear of teh hotel. The reception staff made me feel instantly at ease, with a cheery check in and helped me with my bag up to my room on the 5th floor. The suite was just lovely, with thick, warm carpet and great modern decor. It comprised of a kitchen, a lounge, a gorgeous bedroom & bathroom with a patio with a table and 4 chairs with a great view over parts of the city. The bed was so comfortable and warm, with TWO televisions in the apartment, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. Only me on this occasion but that would keep many couples happy!! The dining room is quite unique, black and white in decor, modern and very welcoming. Again the staff were great (Daniel and Nikia) ensuring that i was fine throughout the meal, which as i was alone was most welcome. A great menu, all sounding delightful making it quite difficult to choose but I decided to have the starter of poached salmon of remoulade with crayfield, lemon creme frache. The main meal was absolutely delicious Roast Rump North West Lamb. It was cooked just as i wanted it pink and it was so tasty with potato puree, root vegetable & gorgeous pomegranate jus! A great list of desserts from which i chose cheesecake with ice cream.......luscious!! The breakfast selection offered a great start to the next day with a choice of fruit, breads and cakes, scambled eggs, scrumptious sausages and lots of coffee or teas. Nikia again was the waitress and again was full of smiles and chat. A talented girl as she also plays the Grand Piano there on a Friday night! I loved staying at the Richmond Hotel. I do stay frequently in hotels and this place stands out in a good way and I will definitely be returning soon.

Stayed here for three nights in junior suite. Cannot fault it at all. Lovely sitting area with super television. Very comfortable bed in separate bedroom, and rooftop balcony with table and chairs. No view it has to be said but sitting outside was very pleasant. Kitchen was simple but efficient. Plenty of tea and coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice bar area, but prices are a bit steep. Had a really good break here. Would recommend.

« Afternoon Tea at Richmond »

Recently visited the hotel for afternoon tea with friends. Upon arrival there was nobody to greet us and when we tried to attract the bar staff they continued counting money with their backs to us and we had to attract their attention. We were then shown to a table which was rather cramp for the five of us. We found the sandwiches to be very plain , cheese or ham and were bit stale although the cakes were delicious. The staff did not pay us any attention at all and we had to be asked to be served with the tea. The room lacked any atmosphere apart from ten minutes before we left when a piano started to be played. We left unacknowledged by any of the staff.Overall on the day we received very poor customer service leaving us feeling disappointed.

Stayed here on October 12 for 1 night very helpful and friendly staff the room was lovely my only gripe was the length of time we had to wait for our evening meal which was about 40 minutes or so after ordering we were told there would be a delay even so I think the wait was too long the food was very good when it eventually arrived the staff were very good at giving directions to the attractions and the breakfast was very good customer service was excellent

My sister and I took our Mum to the Richmond Hotel at Hatton Gardens Liverpool on Monday 10th October for a birthday lunch, we were welcomed by a Todd our waiter for the duration, we where shown to our table where we gave our order to Todd, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with a glass of procecco and tea for three, we even enjoyed the chats we had with our waiter Todd when he passed our table he stopped to have a chat, we found this to be very polite. We also found Todd to be attentive in his work and he knew his work well he was very professional with a excellent personality. Worth a visit, ambiance was lovely music played in the background was well chosen and seating was very comfortable.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend an found the hotel itself beautiful, the staff were lovely an friendly! As we stayed in the suite with the bride on the Friday an I was a bridesmaid at the wedding on Saturday the hotel had our bags moved to our room on Saturday no problems at all! Unfortunately the walls in our room on Saturday had damp patches an the carpet had certainly seen better day but apart from that I enjoyed my stay, the food was lovely an the wedding party was faultless! The downstairs of the hotel is stunning an the drinks are very reasonable too! Beautiful music in the bar too!

Stayed for boyfriends birthday, slept like a baby! Room came equipped with complementary bottled water chilled wine and regular glasses and small bottle of milk in mini fridge! It was hard to find my room however was helped out by lovely housekeepers. Mentioned to reception was here for his birthday and came back to a some cake and a message from the hotel. Definitely worth the price and good location for visitors. Only thing was the shower sort of leaked to the floor which made it slippy, wasn't an issue however could be for others but water pressure was amazing so every cloud. Staff really helpful, didn't have an iron called down to reception someone came up and left it outside for me with an ironing board. Would definitely stay again:)

    « Nice hotel »

1st time stayed here, very nice boutique hotel, very warm welcome from the reception staff upon, during and leaving. The room I had was very nice as a disabled person it was nice to have a (small) step in shower, the room it's self was lovely, fresh milk instead of the tiny teeny pots you'd normally get in hotels complementary bottles of water, biscuits, tea coffee, only 2 downside in my room (061) no wardrobe and no lamp in the room, but the bed very comfy being on the ground floor you'd think maybe a bit of noise but no very quiet no view but I was hardly in the room tbh. The breakfast very nice, 1st day I was there at 7 due to my schedule and great choice 2nd day I was there 1hr later and the food was still lovely, cereals, fruit, juice, tea, coffee, full cooked breakfast. Evening meal oh my proper restaurant quality food, cooked well, tasty portion size very good and the desserts the best. Overall great stay, would definitely stay again the location is fantastic to the city.

« Awesome place to live in Liverpool..!! »

We stayed with Richmond for a long term 6+ months. It was lovely and awesome place. The staff both front Desk and supporting team is really excellent, they support and help on whatever we needed. My little son enjoyed the lobby and carpet area very much. They we were simply superb service providers. The day we arrived in Liverpool, it was surprising with a warm welcome, The room was very nice with facilities for cooking and ready internet with 52' big TVs were really excellent. The staff were very helpful and supportive in our initial settling and throughout our stay. The cost of room rent was really unbelievable for the 4 Start facilities provided to us for the long term duration. We were entitled to use excellent Hot water spa and Gym and water pools, that was really value add and we enjoyed the stay very much. This place is very close to all prominent places like City center bus stop and Lime street Rail station, which is just 5 minutes walk no need of taxi. I would much recommend my colleagues and friends this place for both short and long term stays.

« Nice Hotel close to the City Centre »

Very Clean, comfortable bed and good wi-fi. Lift to all floors and no noise from the street, not bad for a Friday night in Liverpool. Valet parking for extra but worth it to stay so lose to the centre of the city. Plenty of local transport around and the breakfast had plenty of choice hot and cold food.

    « Good Location »

We booked 3 nights at Richmond, mainly for the Liverpool vs Hull game. Plus points to the hotel: location, friendly staff and clean rooms. Negative: TV wasn't working. Told the staff but nothing done. Side bed lamps are a pain. still couldn't managed to switch it on and told staff to help but didn't come.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Room 343, double room. Lovely big bed, large tellie (has a universal remonstrated so can be difficult to change things like put subtitles on, but that's my fault not the hotels). Beautiful bathroom with a big bath. Love the marble effect in the bathroom. Friendly staff who are happy to go the extra mile. Bad points from my stay: first night the fire alarm went off quite late, I was asleep with my partner and panicked. He couldn't get in touch with reception (which I could understand as likely everyone was trying) to be told a hen party was burning burgers, whoops probably best not to cook drunk girls! Staff have helped book us taxis, give us recommendations and help. The lovely girl on reception on Saturday night last week who hunted us out a bath plug was lovely! Didn't catch her name, but really why was the plug in our bath the wrong size in the first place? Odd. Breakfasts have been delicious all the way through even with some substitutions. When we return to our hotel it's a joy to have fresh towels and sheets and a lovely smell! The two doors we have to go through to get to our room make me feel fantastically save and both myself and my partner enjoyed our stay, we will be back! Plus free wifi is always a win! Near to a number of local things, pubs, the docks etc but far enough away to get a quiet night sleep.

« Friendly staff, clean and tidy room, nice bar and lovely setting. »

An enjoyable stay at The Richmond enhanced by the friendly and helpful staff, beautiful setting, nice bar (with good drinks selection) and the clean and tidy rooms. The location of this place is a bonus, as you're pretty much central to everything. Room costs are pretty reasonable and there were no real negatives about our stay to note. Would recommend to anyone staying in Liverpool.

    « Private family function »

We hired the William and Kane Suite for our 40th wedding anniversary on a Friday evening and we were very pleased with the whole evening. The Suite was very well presented and looked superb. Emma, who is the events manager for the hotel looked after our booking and kept us well informed on every aspect of our function. She was superb. We also hired the resident DJ who did an excellent job, the music played was popular and not too loud for us oldies! The light show and dance floor were top notch also. Now on to the buffet. One word - delicious. The Chef did himself proud, a lot of guests commented on how tasty the food was. There was two young guys working the bar and they did an excellent job keeping the drinks flowing. Several family members including myself stayed overnight at the hotel and ate in the Brasserie for an evening snack and also breakfast the next morning. The food was excellent and the ambience in the Brasserie was very relaxing. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Some of the views from the hotel corridors do not do the hotel any favours but don't let this deter you from staying here as the hotel itself is very well run and has a good relaxing feel to it. This is the second function we have attended at this hotel and we have no problem in recommending it to anyone thinking of hiring the function room or staying there.

    « Stay During Student Drop-Off »

We stayed in the hotel on Saturday night (17th Sept) and the aim of our stay was to drop my son off at his student accommodation in Marybone 2 Halls of Residence (close-by). The hotel was lovely - clean & luxurious, just what was needed after the long journey. The rooms were spacious and very tastefully decorated with very comfortable beds and fabulous showers. While we could at times hear a wedding taking place down stairs this in no way interrupted our sleep and even street noise was minimal (not what I would expect from a hotel so close to student accommodation). I have to give particular mention to Sophie on reception both Saturday night & during Sunday, a lovely professional young lady who was very informative and catered to our requirements and questions both with manners, courtesy and always with a smile on her face. We ate breakfast in the hotel which was well cooked & plentiful - a great start to the day. The car-park was an added bonus and we were happy to pay the £15.00 for the service - car picked up & delivered back to the front door of the hotel. Well priced for such a luxurious stay. We will definitely stay again.

very professionally run hotel, very clean and comfy, breakfast v good but could be a lot hotter and plates also. Staff were very friendly but professional, rooms had everything that you would need, not quite in the section of Liverpool for eateries

    « A girlie night out »

Stayed here on a Friday night, excellent accommodation, friendly staff and safe parking. Hotel was clean and staff very friendly. We just used it as a base to eat and drink in Liverpool so can't comment on the food in the hotel. Very central to city, would stay again.

    « Lovely Liverpool »

This was the first time we have been to Liverpool Stayed for 2night in an apartment room very large, kitchen down one wall very clean big fridge/freezer oven plenty of cooking utensils although did not use. loved the TV they were very clever and made a feature out of it making it look like a mirror on the the wall. Bathroom was lovely and big but shower over bath, Staff very friendly and could not do enough to help I use a mobility scooter and they suggested I take it up to our room which was great. 10-15 minute walk to Albert docks which was so lovely it was spotlessly clean plenty of thing to see and do including going on the Mersey ferry. lots of nice places to eat food we had was very good. Evening meal was good but breakfast was buffet style and cold run out of bacon and the wait was so long for more that we had something else instead. would come to Liverpool again love it.

    « R Brasserie »

Went for a meal in the Hotel's Restaurant around 4pm on a Friday. We had a deal for 2 glasses of Prosecco and 2 Courses. The food was faultless, very nicely presented and extremely tasty, my friend had the Mushrooms on toast and said they were the best she had tasted. My Chicken in Tarragon sauce was beautiful, tender soft chicken on the bone with skin (Fabulous crispy skin) and not too much sauce to overpower. The two staff members who served us were lovely, it's very friendly, very laid back but in lovely surroundings, There was no atmosphere but that was our fault for booking at 4pm rather than theirs, I would imagine if the Restaurant is busy it would have a great atmosphere too. Would recommend.

« R Bar and Brasserie... After a few mishaps.Nothing was too much trouble. »

After having visited before with my husband I recommended it to a group of friends after a day out in Liverpool. I was using my Groupon card so I telephoned an hour before to reserve a table. I was told that the restaurant was full. I was surprised at this as I had checked the day before and was advised that there were plenty of tables available for early evening. I didnt book then as wasn't sure what time everyone wanted to eat and how many of us there was going to be. I mentioned this to the girl on the phone, she went away to speak to someone and on her return said she could fit us in after all. Obviously after this conversation I was expecting the restaurant to be heaving but on our arrival there were only 3 other tables booked. I mentioned my conversation to Peter the Restaurant Manager and he promised to try and find out who I had spoken to and sort it. We did have 1 member of the party who was served a steak which was cold and my meal initially came without a sauce but this was soon rectified. We also asked for larger wine glasses as they were so tiny, again no problem, changed straight away. We had starters and a main and everyone agreed it was delicious. A special mention to Peter, the restaurant manager,he went over and above board to ensure we had a perfect night and that everything was to our satisfaction. He also gave us an extra discount on our bill because of the few mishaps we encountered. The waiter who I think was called Daniel was extra special too. Will definitely visit again.

    « Friendly staff »

My daughter wanted to stay in Liverpool for her birthday weekend and I booked a twin room at the Richmond. Slightly disappointed with the room (254), it smelled musty and was smaller than I had expected. Bathroom looked lovely but on closer inspection the marble sink was cracked and the tap was very loose. Shower over the bath took a long time to heat up. There were holes in the net curtains and they looked grubby. Nice big bath sheets though. Water & fresh milk was a nice touch. We arrived early afternoon and ordered two "high teas" which sounded delicious on the menu. Unfortunately reality was rather different. Instead of mini salt beef bagels, salmon, crayfish and chicken we got egg & mustard & tomato (not joking, there was no ham) on dried up bread. This plus two very stale scones was supposedly high tea for two at a cost of £9.95 each. The waiter was embarrassed to serve it, he was very apologetic, charged me for just one, brought out extra cakes and glasses of prosecco so all credit to him for making amends. Breakfast is £10 a head and there is plenty of variety but it would be nice if the cooked items were actually hot rather than lukewarm and hot plates were available. Machine coffee not very pleasant (think it was the milk) and the toaster took an age to work. We found all the staff we encountered to be very friendly and helpful. However the hotel is overpriced and its definitely not "luxury" as it purports to be on the website.

« Perfect Birthday Weekend at the Richmond »

We visited the hotel this weekend for my 22nd Birthday and it was a perfect birthday weekend! We can't thank Joe Little enough for arranging our second visit to the hotel. On arrival we were allocated to room 121. We were so pleased with the room, it was gorgeous and very spacious. We must add that the bed was very comfortable, which is usually not the case in most hotels. The staff were very helpful and polite, they also park your car for you in their private car park. We had cocktails in the hotel bar, the staff were very polite and attentive. We had breakfast in bed every morning which was always at the specified time. The location of the hotel is really good around 10 minute walk to the docks, 5 minutes to liverpool one and 15 minutes to Soho Bar and other bars. Thank you again to Joe Little and all of the hotel staff, we will definately be returning in the future.

    « Anniversary Weekend »

My wife and I stayed at The Richmond Hotel for our wedding anniversary weekend. I'd booked a junior suite. Upon arrival we were met by a lovely courteous lady who checked us in quickly and efficiently. We were allocated room 503. Wow!!! What a gorgeous suite we had right at the top of the hotel. Very tastefully decorated and very quiet. We didn't manage to eat or drink in the brasserie but from what we saw it looked a very nice place. The hotel was in a quiet area of the city but only ten minutes walk from Lime Street Station and ten Minutes walk to the main shopping area and Albert Dock. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a couples night or two away. If you decide to book a junior suite ask for room 503. I'm certain you won't be disappointed.

« Lovely hotel fab location! »

We booked this as a secret hotel so was slightly apprehensive. The hotel is a spacious boutique style hotel. The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The rooms were modern and spacious with boutique fixture and fittings. We didn't eat at the hotel but we did have a few drinks in the bar which were nice and priced as expected. The hotel is well located for shopping and a short walk to the docks. Would definitely return.

« Lovely Hotel Let Down by Breakfast »

This was my second visit to this hotel and I chose it after enjoying my previous visit although on that occasion I had to leave before breakfast. Parking is discounted at the nearby Q-Park however due to a fault on the entrance gates I was forced to park at the nearby undiscounted NCP. Nothing to do with the hotel. Checkin was quick, friendly anfd efficient and my room was lovely. Well furnished with a lovely walk-in shower and well equipped bathroom. My colleague told me that his room was an older room with a shower over the bath the TV situated such that it could not easily be viewed so not all rooms are modern. He was not so impressed but he can write his own reviews. All good until breakfast with both coffee machines broken leaving poor coffee dispensed from a flask as the only alternative. The novelty of a full cooked English hotel breakfast has long passed and I prefer fruit and cereal these days but unfortunately there were flies all over the prepared fruit in the cold display and the waiter was too engrossed on his mobile to notice. So crap coffee and only cereal for breakfast made a poor start to the day. Has it put me off staying here again? Probably, which is sad because the rooms are nice and the location is excellent.

« Afternoon Tea only at the Hotel - non-guest »

I'd like to stress that this review is not of the hotel as I did not stay there - just the Afternoon Tea offered. The appearance of the hotel is very good and the one member of staff we encountered was pleasant, however that's where it ended for me. The pictured afternoon tea selection was to be shared between two guests with tea/coffee and a glass of prosecco included in the price. Everything about the food content of this tea was a little sad. The three tiny cakes appeared shop bought and lacked any flavour. The bread on the sandwiches wasn't the freshest and the content uninspiring and confusing. The scones sat lonely on the top plate but tasted okay with the jam and cream served. The tea was lovely and hot and the prosecco enjoyable but the main content of an Afternoon Tea was disappointing and I wouldn't rush back.

« Great Place To Stay! »

The apartment was very luxurious, clean and peaceful. We stayed in an apartment with one double bed and a seated area with a sofa bed and it was lovely to have full kitchen facilities and 2 sofas - made for a very sociable atmosphere. Would recommend. Only reason its 4 star as opposed to 5 is that when we got back late at night we realized that the sofa bed hadn't been made with bedding which showed a little lack of care.

« Superb hotel very friendly staff and great food! »

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Richmond on 2nd and 4th September, 16 and would highly recommend this hotel. We very much enjoyed a lovely dinner and breakfast, and all the staff we came into contact with were extremely friendly and helpful from front of house to restaurant staff.

« Fantastic stay and very welcoming staff!! »

Visited with my partner for a short weekend break 3rd - 5th September we arrived earlier then check in times but that was not a problem for the staff. Absolutely love the decor the young lady at reception Helena (I think that's how it's pronounced) she was lovely and very friendly. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar/resturant we got talking to Peter the resturant manager who was nice but came across a little up himself although we wish him all the best in Australia with his bakery. Josh the young gentleman who looks like a big friendly giant was also very friendly and accommodating. And then there was another young man we can't remember his name but he was lovely and recommended barley & beans resturant to us all in all we've really enjoyed our stay! The breakfast was very nice and the air con in the room is a great touch. We will deffiently be returning and recommending to family and friend! Thank you for making our short stay very welcoming!!

    « Fantastic stay »

My new husband and I stayed at The Richmond for the first leg of our honeymoon and we certainly were not disappointed. The hotel is very central with a secure (and very reasonably priced) multi-story car park only a minutes walk away. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly chap who got us checked into our room straight away, we were on the 3rd floor looking out onto the street where the hotel entrance is. The room was lovely, gorgeous decor, clean and fresh and really spacious - my only complaint was that where the dressing table area was, instead of a mirror, was a huge flat screen television. In fact there was no mirror at all in the room, only the bathroom which had no sockets for plugging in hairdryer/straighteners. Overall, we had a great stay here. It's only a ten minute or so walk to most of the attractions within the city center which was perfect for us. The Richmond is a beautiful hotel - clean and stylishly decorated, fantastic location and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I hope to return in the near future.

« Awful late breakfast, noisy, dirty room »

The hotel looks ok from the outside but quite deceptive. Asked for a quiet room but had to put up with screaming seagulls for hours on end right outside the window. Whilst they can use bird nets etc, the best thing would be for them to spend some money on secondary glazing of some sort. The bathroom had three stray nail clippings on shelf and near sink, which if it had been cleaned properly would have been picked up. The shower and sink tiles were full of mold and had a horrible smell - then the water wouldn't flow away fast enough in the shower so you end up having to shower in shifts so as not to flood the bathroom! The TV wouldn't turn on, only for the helpful staff to say the remotes don't always work with the TV's and showed me how to turn the TV on manually. Again, can't they just buy TV remotes that work with the TV??? The pre ordered breakfast that was ordered by card outside your door the night before didn't arrive at the time requested and I had to wait an hour for it to eventually arrive. The food was cold and disgusting, with the grilled tomatoe being some canned chopped passata like "tomatoes" thrown onto the side of the plate and microwaved. I asked for poached eggs and got scrambled, and when I asked why I was told poached was not possible - the mind boggles as to what kind of a chef this place must have. When I complained about the supposed grilled tomatoes I was told they "substitute" for another "tomato based product" when they run out - this was even more bizarre than the egg excuse! The room was tiny, the bed was dreadful, full of spiky springs and lumpy. Couldn't really sleep because of this compounded with the screaming seagulls outside the window. The iron was tiny and didn't work, the ironing board was dirty and also tiny, like it was made for kids! Generally the room was dusty and hair all over the floor but luckily not on the bed itself. Best to avoid this awful place. The staff are friendly and helpful but clearly can't do anything about the run down place or lack of investment / cleaning, catering or upkeep.

    « Don't stay in Room 43! »

Hotel is in a good location - a lovely walk into the centre/Pier Head/Albert Dock. Friendly staff on check-in, looked after our bags until the rooms were ready. Rooms clean and tidy - plenty of space, plenty of hangers. A nice touch is the fresh milk and bottles of water, replenished daily. Modern warm bathroom with fluffy white towels and surprisingly thick toilet roll! We had 2 x twin rooms on the ground floor. Room 43 had a serious problem with the sounds of water from the room above, Whenever the guests flushed the toilet or ran any water at all, it sounded like it was coming through the ceiling! I think the guest who stayed there on our first night must've been to the toilet around 4-5 times and needless to say this kept us awake most of the night. The staff who arrived around 6am greeted each other quite loudly which also woke us up - but on the second night we closed a door to the corridor and this seemed to work much better. On check out when I complained to the receptionist about the water noise, they offered to waiver the valet parking charge, which was a nice touch. All in all a good hotel, good location and as it was bought through Living Social, it was a good price. I would recommend this hotel but only if you could get it for a reduced rate.

    « Stunning hotel »

Such a beautiful hotel! Finding the parking was a bit of a nightmare but after going in and asking we were told it was valet parking and we were to just leave the car outside. Checked-In with no problems at all. The room was absolutely beautiful. Stunning décor, modern and bright. It was spotless with not a mark anywhere to be seen. The mini fridge that was provided had our free bottle of prosecco in it, two bottles of water and milk that was sadly very off but was changed over without an issue. We ordered room service and the food was delicious! Beds were so comfortable and after a good nights sleep we tucked in to a buffet breakfast. Would be my first choice next time I'm in Liverpool!

« Let themselves down badly »

We were given a voucher for a meal for 2 people as a gift for a 70th birthday. We arranged to go and purchased an extra meal as there were 3 of us. As a group we arrived around 7:30 for the booking at 7:45. Sitting at the table, waiters and waitresses kept walking past telling us that "someone will be with us soon" If I recall correctly it was at least 45 minutes before someone took our order. The restaurant was empty and only one other table was occupied. Food wasn't exactly quick arriving, and to be honest wasn't the best quality/tasting. If I recall correctly we arrived home at 11:30. And we drove straight home. It took hours to be served. Overall I would not go there again and definitely would not recommend the Richmond to anyone.

    « Anniversary Midweek break »

I booked the Richmond as a midweek break to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were greeted by lovely friendly staff on reception. I had emailed previously to ask if we could arrive early as we were booked into the 'spa' for some treatments. This wasn't a problem and as we arrived at midday, our car was parked by a member of staff and luggage put away for us. We went to the 'spa' I use the term lightly as it was very very basic. There were no robes on arrival and we were asked if we had taken our own towels. Not something Ive ever had to do before at a spa. The changing facilities were lovely, nice and clean with great lockers. Unfortunately the spa was not great, one room with 3 small pools, one hot, one warm, and one cold. Damp loungers to sit on and no thermal suite, we were the only ones in the spa for some time so didn't mind as much. Our treatments were booked at 4pm and the spa staff were 30 mins late coming for us. However the massage was excellent and the 20% discount for being Richmond guests was good. We then went to check into hotel, we were told at Reception that we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite (apartment) which was nice to hear. We made it to the top floor, and found our apartment in the attic. There was a lovely card from the staff on arrival, an anniversary cheesecake and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge. A really lovely touch. However the apartment itself was tired, too big for us and quite dirty. There were some bad stains on the carpet and it was dark and far too hot. With it being one of the hottest days of the summer we put the aircon on but it really wasn't good. The bedroom was tucked away in a small corner of the attic and didn't benefit from the aircon at all. The bathroom on the other hand was fabulous, large and spacious with a bath and shower, and double sink. There were robes (rough) and slippers. I booked us into the restaurant for the first evening, food was okay, but a little over priced. Breakfast is excellent, a great choice of both cooked and continental with plenty of cereals and fruits too. Again staff at meal times were very attentive and friendly. I think the hotel is pushing it at 4* and is probably overpriced at full price, but I had booked a last minute deal online so can't complain. Having seen a basic room being cleaned when we passed I would have preferred to have been given the little extras but in the room I had booked, we had no need for a lounge or kitchen during our stay and a 2nd or 3rd floor room with a window and city view would have been better for us. But, nice touch I guess. Not sure if I would return.

    « Dissapointed »

I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Friday for £60 and got what I paid for; a basic room and a comfortable bed. I stayed at the Richmond for £155 on the Saturday and got a room so hot we couldn't sleep, the windows wouldn't open, the milk was 2 days past the best before date and exploded in my hand whilst making a coffee in the room, the double bed is made up of two single beds with an ill fitting topper that makes the bed very soft. Breakfast was a disaster too as the food was not continuously topped up. Valet parking sounds great but your car is driven off to the next street and parked in a shared car park. The hotel is used by hen and stag doos so be prepared for a 2am party in the room next door. The hotel did give us our parking for free (£15) and clear our bar bill (£15) but I should have asked for more. Very disappointing as the web site and price led me to believe I was going to stay somewhere nice.

    « Disappointed »

I came to The Richmond for an evening meal when my mum came down to Liverpool for a visit. Upon arrival the staff were nice and seated us quickly. Our orders were taken quickly top. However, after this, we began to notice the huge amount of flies in the restaurant! They were hovering around our table - I've never seen so many inside! Our starters arrived - my mum enjoyed hers but my bread under the mushrooms was almost black and tasted burned. Then our main courses arrived - despite us both ordering the steak, my mum was brought lamb! It was taken away to be fixed. My steak was supposed to be 10oz but it cant have been more than 5 or 6. It was dry and really not that pleasant. I had finished my entire meal before my mum's correct one arrived. It was a real shame as it ruins the experience when you have to eat separately. Although my mum's steak seemed better than mine, it was still small and a little dry. We were offered a free glass of wine for the wait. When we went to pay the bill the staff were laughing and joking about who's fault it had been - I don't feel that this is the correct response when a meal has been spoiled. The mains were valued at just under £20 each, and they were far beneath even a pub steak for far cheaper. We were really disappointed as we were expecting a lovely meal out for my mum's last night.

    « Noisy »

We booked one night only thank goodness as it was so noisy! The sofa bed was the creakiest ever and the double bed was clearly over used as you couldn't move without a spring popping! The worst thing was the fact that every time anyone above used any kind of water source the flow came through our pipes above the bed . Never have I had such a poor nights sleep! Location was good and staff were fine but we will never return due to the noise factor.

We visited the hotel for a sparkling afternoon tea which we had in the restaurant which was very peaceful and relaxing. The service was impeccable throughout the experience. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Food was very good, especially the cakes.

    « Great »

Stayed here for one night in a 2 bedroom apartment for a hen do! The room was clean, view wasn't great and I do think it was extremely expensive for what we received and considering what I've paid for in the past in other hotels....but it was quite central on the opposite side of Liverpool one to the docks so still undies why it was so expensive. Other than the price, it was a lovely stay!

    « So so »

Two night stay over the bank holiday weekend. Hotel is situated within a ten minute walk of Lime St station, in a quiet area. Upon arrival we were quickly given our room key. Staff very courteous and friendly. Room was nice enough but the smell in the corridor and in the room was quite vile. Stale, stagnant aroma, almost like they had a flood and the water had taken days to go but they kept the same carpet. Large seating area with massive tv which lead into the sleeping area which also had a massive tv! Too much as its one open room. Small wardrobe with plenty of hangers but there was only one mirror (bathroom has a mirror but you can't dry your hair in there) and it was not placed anywhere it would be useful! Bathroom is nice, plenty of towels and the shower is good. Toilet sort of reflushed after you had flushed it. Air con didn't work properly and when it did it was loud. Fridge and tea/coffee making facilities included. The bar and reception area are very nice. Breakfast on the first day was ok, plenty of variety and cooked well if a little cold. The second day was very chaotic, food had run out as happens in most places but replacements came out in dribs and drabs so if you wanted a full english you had to wait to get it all together. Staff here are brilliant, very friendly and efficient. Hotel is close to all amenities but with the advantage of not being where all the noisy nightlife is.

    « Weekend away »

Location of the hotel is good 10 min walk from train station. Checked in staff friendly and polite. We were on the 3rd floor room 392 just before you enter the room there is stale stagnant smell. You can smell it in room a little .Room is spacious twin room! Two very large televisions at least 70 inch small wardrobe bed sofa. Tea, coffee in room mini fridge with milk an two bottle waters but not very cold.. Hairdryer in draw. Bathroom ok good shower! Cleanliness of room is ok few marks an splashes up the walls comfy bed. Negatives really it's too hot no window to open air con is set but very noisy and rattles. Mirror in bathroom but only one mirror in room where it was located isn't the greatest spot we had to take it down rest it on the bed as main sockets were side of bed.if you were to put it in a better place then there was not socket near by so not the best.. Definitely needs to be moved and a better lighting. Breakfast was good cereals, cooked breakfast and continental tea coffee an juices..location to the bars and shops 10-15 minute walk about 25 mins to the Albert docks.. Would I stay here again yes if able to get a cooler room as it is in good location an it was quite an good price

    « Top hotel.... But »

This is our second stay at the Richmond and on the whole it was great. We found the staff friendly but could not help with the two things that I reported the first morning, nothing major but niggly all the same. 1st there was no mirror in our room except the bathroom, my wife would have liked to wash her hair as we came straight from work but could not blow dry it as there was not 3pin in the bathroom (quite rightly) but no mirror in the bedroom! the other small irritation was the tv, could only get BBC and as F1 was on channel 4 that was out. As I said nothing big but because they could not be rectified and let's face it what's the problem with getting a mirror from a spare room (there was a hook to hang it on ) and getting someone to tune the tv in, it left me thinking they aren't bothered once you have paid :-( which is why I give it 4 and not five stars. Will stay there again next time i'm in Liverpool though..

Hotel is 10 mins walk from Lime St. station. We had a lovely clean, comfortable room with good facilities including fresh milk in the fridge. All the staff we met were very professional, pleasant and helpful. We didn't dine in the evening but would consider it if we came again.

Firstly I'd like to say the room, staff, and the hotels location were great,my wife and I stopped for a few nights through a groupon deal. Although the room was adequate and staff helpful and friendly I don't think I would've paid the full price without the deal we got, breakfast was very good,a wide selection, and done to a high standard. Now to the disappointing part,we also paid through groupon for a 2 course meal in the restaurant seperately to the hotel deal,2 course and 2 glasses of prosecco, I ordered the 10oz ribeye at a £5 surcharge, this was the disappointing part, when it came it was I the small side for 10oz and also slightly burnt on one side. Overall good hotel great location, disappointing meal

So disappointed in this hotel, told we would have a junior suite looked at the gallery yes that looks good, we were greeted very friendly as we headed to our room there was an over powering smell of mould and damp this didn't disappear as we got into our room. We the walked in the smell got stronger, I looked around went into the bathroom the shower wasn't even fixed to the wall, the pillows has stains on, and outside we had no table and chairs but everywhere else did I am so disappointed in this hotel with it costing us over £300 for 2 nights! Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

    « Was recommended......... »

A crowd of us decided to go to the Richmond on the recommendation of one of the couples in our group. and we were not disappointed. A few minor hiccups but nothing major. We were warmly greeted and immediately taken to our reserved table. We ordered a bottle of red and white wine and asked for larger wine glasses, I have never seen such small wine glasses before. Danny obliged without hesitation, but my glass and another were not clean, in fact mine had traces of lipstick on it. No big deal Danny sorted it, Two of us ordered the ribeye steak, I had to ask for steak knives after the dishes had been served, no problem Peter (restaurant manager from Tuebrook) took care of it. One thing I could not understand is why my friends steak was cold and mine was not???? Anyway, it was reheated and that was the end of that, All starters and mains were delicious and special mention must go to Peter and Danny who were outstanding. Well worth a vist.....

« Groupon two course meal with prosecco »

Could not fault anything. Best chicken ever tasted. Our waiter, Daniel, was superb. Asked for extra bread for one and got six home made rolls, oil dip and olives for £1.50. That's what I call value for money. Was looking forward to desert, but could not manage. Shame. Can not wait to return.

    « Amazing »

What a great hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient. Rooms very clean. Rooms equipped with kettle for hot drinks. Fresh milk Provided in the fridge which is a first. Also bottles of cold water also provided. Staff very helpful on information about getting around Liverpool. The hotel is also in a great location. Only 10mins to the town centre. And also only a short walk to the beautiful Albert Dock. Would definitely use the Richmond again.

« Central location for dinner »

Went in for dinner, Main courses about 20.00. Staff were polite but service seemed little disjointed so kept waiting. Drink did come quickly thought - this was little pricy nearly9.00 for large glass of wine. I had ribeye which was well presented with choice of 2 sauces, portions were good and the stake tender.

    « Stayed for 1 night »

We went to Liverpool for an overnight stay. The hotel was clean, very quiet but in some areas a little tired. The staff were very helpful. The room was nicely presented with a lovely refurbished bathroom. The building is probably Victorian and I presume maintenance costs are extreme. It had been updated I think where possible but due to the era of the build not easy to do. The breakfast was buffet style with sufficient of everything.

    « Very tatty - shame »

My boyfriend booked this hotel for a weekend visit to Liverpool . After a stressful few weeks , I was really looking forward to it. Upon arrival , the staff were very nice and friendly - on surface level , the decor was nice - if a little gaudy. I'm an OTT sort of person so I liked the black chandeliers and damask wallpapers - however - upon closer inspection , the chandlers were incredibly cheap looking and there was a kind of 'done on the cheap' feel about the place . I started to notice bits of the decor seemed tatty - I think that's hard to avoid though in old buildings if you're using a lot of black paint? We were given our room key and filled in on breakfast times, etc - we were a little confused to hear our room was through a nearby door on the ground floor next to reception . We had booked a suite which we thought would have a balcony ? We went in to our room and heart sank . It was horrible . We were stood in a big kitchen . Wooden floor . Table and chairs . Bedroom to the left behind a screen type wall that didn't even meet the ceiling , bathroom to the right . It was NOT a hotel room. It looked like an underground bunker ! The view from the window was into the other three walls of a grotty courtyard type space . It was awful . Drab decor and marks on the walls. I got really upset so my boyfriend demanded that we were moved to a) a less prison cell type room , and b) to the room that we were sold upon booking . We were moved up to the fourth floor. On the way to our room , I couldn't help but notice how badly this hotel was in need of a cosmetic lift . Crumpled ill fitting carpets , dirty walls and skirting boards , general tattyness. Our room was through an off-corridor and up some small carpeted stairs like you'd see in a small house . This carpet was beige and had stains and marks all over it. We walked in to our second room and whilst it was improvement on the last - it was by far one of the worst rooms I've ever seen in my whole life . Nice big TVs in the rooms we had -but HORRENDOUS furniture . Two tiny , grubby sofa beds positioned aside a tiny ( and by tiny, I mean tiny) black side table . I'm So glad I didn't have to sleep on one of them - they were tiny and just awful . The bathroom stunk of mould - over poweringly so , and the balcony was littered with cigarette butts and bird poop that hadn't been cleaned up . The bird poo I can kind of ignore as you can't control that - but there's no excuse for the cig ends . Again , just a sign of how standards are lacking here? The room we had was really really tatty - I was wishing we had booked a Premier Inn - which would have been clean and comfortable. I couldn't wait to leave this hotel , which is sad because it really could be something special with some investment and raising of standards . The online pics of this hotel are lovely - but believe me - they aren't representative of the place I stayed in last night ! There was nothing remotely luxurious about the place - and it markets itself as a luxury hotel. The breakfast was not nice at all . I've never tasted such horrible scrambled egg and the hash browns were awful . How hard can it be to get those two things right ?? I wouldn't stay here again because I'm struggling to find any positive thoughts on it . I've just spent three weeks in the Indigo Hotel in Newcastle- the contrast between that and the Richmond is unbelievable . The staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful - but appeared to be a little inexperienced - which isn't their fault. If you like the finer things in life - I'd avoid this place ( or if you just like clean carpets and walls and are not keen on the smell of damp). Sorry to be so moany but I can't lie.

    « Sweet suite »

After a beautiful Irish blonde girl parked our car we checked in to an awesome suite. Very clean very big very nice. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Main meal was ok breakfast was good. I'd definitely stay here again. The location is ok and the main areas are a 10 minute walk.

Upon arrival me and my partner were welcomed warmly! The atmosphere at reception is fantastic and I think that this makes your stay a lot better when the staff are lovely. The rooms are nicely decorated and modern and staff couldn't be helpful enough. Would defiantly recommend and stay again!

    « Groupon visit »

Booked through groupon offer. Upgraded when checked in so that was nice. Think it was the junior suite. First impression the room looked very clean and everything we needed. Plenty of towels and toiletries. Closer inspection we could see the room need a bit of an update and odd jobs needed to be fixed. Breakfast included which was fine. Busy in the morning so the staff made us a breakfast table up. Handy for the city centre, closest train staion is Moorfields. Would stay again but not sure at full price.

    « Great birthday stay »

Room was a good size as was the bed however have had more comfortable sleeps in other hotels. Liked how the room had been decorated aswell with the big TV. Loved the bathroom and the massive power shower. Only think I didn't like was that we could hear water running all night as the pipes must have been running through our room this was quite annoying as it was particularly loud when someone flushed. Breakfast in the room/bed was a nice touch, lots of choice however do prefer buffet breakfasts as the food arrived with cold toast and beans. Overall would stay again but it was just an average stay.

    « Not even close to 4* »

Stayed 1 night and quite disappointed with the visit. Room was large in size but not in working order. Booked room with the city view - glazed door was obscure glazed, facing inner courtyard and not even openable for some fresh air. Lightbulbs were out in the lounge area, tv not working. Shelving was not dusted for a while. Bathroom was in better shape but strong smell of damp. Staff lacked knowledge of the city and surroundings, and we're not able to help with any directions. Very slow check in. On the upside there were facilities to store luggage (not particularly secure) and great choice of teas in the complimentary tray.

« Luxurious, Tasteful and Delicious! Not to be missed. »

I booked the Richmond as a 2 night midweek break for myself and friend. We chose a dinner, bed and breakfast package in an apartment suite. On arrival we were met by smiling friendly staff at the reception desk and directed to our apartment. The apartment was exceptional, beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated, white bed linen and plump white towels. 2 huge flatscreen TV's one in the lounge / dining area and one in the bedroom. There were white bathrobes and slippers in the wardrobe, a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge chilling alongside wine 2 glasses - fresh milk and tea, coffee and biscuits - what more could we want! The food was amazing, all freshly cooked and beautifully presented and served by such well trained, friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. The location is within walking distance from the city centre and all Liverpool's attractions. This was the first-ever visit to Liverpool for both my friend and myself it will definitely not be the last.

    « Friendly Staff »

We stayed overnight as part of a hen party. Positively the staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfy and clean, as was the bathroom with a good shower. However, the room, which was large was well in need of an update. There were stains on the walls and in some rooms huge patches of damp. Lighting in the room was poor and we were pleased the stay was just for the one night.

« Thank you for a wonderful stay at the Richmond »

We booked our 2 night stay with Groupon and we loved it!!! I mentioned that it was a birthday treat for my husband and hoped for a lovely room-we couldn't have been happier. We had a Junior Suite and there was a birthday card from the team and a mini birthday cake in the room to make it really special. The staff were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful-parking was easy at the Q park, breakfast was excellent and we couldn't have had a better time. The sun shone and Liverpool was at its absolute best!! Thank you Emma and Team we will definitely be back again!!! Thank you all, Lynn and Richard :)

« Great staff and service »

We went here on our wedding anniversary and told the person taking the booking at the hotel that we were there for a special occasion. She said that she would allocate a good room immediately and if there was a chance of a free upgrade on the day she would note it on the booking. True enough on the day we were upgraded to an apartment which was really nice and as well as having a bottle of Prosecco in the room, the staff took the time to hand write a card wishing us a happy anniversary. We didnt eat in the hotel in the evening, but Breakfast next day was the usual buffet affair. Sausages and bacon were really nice, but would like to have seen fried eggs as well as the scrambled on offer. Not a big enough gripe to dock a star! All the staff are really friendly and cant do enough for us on our short stay. We have stayed here before and the service is always top notch.

« Best place to stay in Liverpool »

I booked this hotel a little worried as had mixed reviews so glad I went ahead with the booking. We walked in and we were greeted by lovely staff who offered to keep our bags locked up as we were a little early to check in while Me and my husband enjoyed an afternoon tea in the restaurant which was delicious and again staff very friendly. Our room was just lovely, very spacious nice and cool and extremely clean. We walked over to the spa to use the facilities and had a massage each which was lovely (make sure you book in advance) the spa is small and I believe they are working on it at the min so not the best but still it's free make the most of it, breakfast the following morning was delicious and again staff all friendly and professional, I didn't get the girls name but she had dark hair with glasses and she was very friendly on reception. Overall it's a great location with everything you need I won't stop anywhere else now.

« Great hotel and staff »

This is my second visit to the hotel. I do a lot of business in the area and have stopped at various hotels in the area based on the same price range. This is the best by far well worth the money and ideal location. The main thing for this hotel is the staff who are to a high standard and very professional. Do not know all the names but manageress Amanda, the irish receptionist and Emma excel in there job. Will be back Kevin

    « Esk spa visit »

Worst spa I have ever visited. Lovely girl on her own in reception, given robes and towels. Shown to the changing area which has little privacy for those who would like it. Robes seen better days and rough. Made our way through to the Spa?? One room with 6 loungers, we were a booking of 12 and there were 4 others in there too. Very dark with cracked tiles, one small hot plunge pool and a small cold plunge pool with an ever smaller whirlpool which was not working at its best. We booked through an events company and we're told we could use the facilities from 9am. These were the only facilities we could use, when I inquired about the advertised steam room/sauna I was told it had unfortunately been closed down. This led to a very boring morning awaiting treatments which were good but they were given in 3's so no privacy especially for those who may be body conscious and having a massage. I have visited several Spas and have never used one like this, the facilities were shocking. I do believe that when this Spa was first opened it would have been OK but it has been disregarded and left to fall into disrepair. Please do not book this as a Spa option unless it comes free with the hotel room or you will be disappointed.

    « Fabulous stay! »

We stayed in a suite which was fabulous, lovely room, on the road but we had no traffic noise, lovely extras in the room, we had the booked the room for a birthday night away and the staff knew this and made extra effort for us, it was great and made us feel really welcome. We were 5 mins from the world museum, 15 mins from the docks and the cathedral, really impressive buildings and photo opportunities, plenty around and lots to choose from when it comes to restaurants and shops. The air con was really appreciated as it was very warm, we ate out but had a few drinks in the bar later on, the breakfast was lovely too and all the staff couldn't do enough for us, the girls on reception were all especially lovely. Thank you for making a small break for busy parents just that little bit more special! x

« Good at some things, pretty average at others »

I stayed at the Richmond for 2 nights, and my overall experience was decidedly average. Good points: - pretty hotel exterior - good location - friendly staff - comfortable bed - large, modern bathroom Bad points: - old hotel decor, especially in the corridors and rooms - very tatty room, which needed competely redecorating - inadequate sound proofing (you can hear people's feet constantly moving around on the floor in the room above) - breakfast very average, even if it is only £10pp Overall, I'd give the hotel 5 out of 10, and would imagine you can find much better places to stay for similar money. *Tip: Don't eat breakfast at the hotel. Barley & Beans - a café opposite the hotel - make amazing breakfasts.

Excellent service and food in the Richmond this afternoon. We had bought Groupon vouchers for afternoon tea. I was very pleased with the food, plenty of sandwiches and cakes and cream scones. The service was excellent also.

I really enjoyed this hotel, great location, good value for money and walking distance from most things you want to see in Liverpool. The meals were good and the staff friendly. I couldn't believe how big the room was that I was in and a really comfortable bed with a big TV in the room, what more could you want from a hotel??

    « 40th Birthday Break »

Just back from a lovely one night break which I booked for my husband's 40th Birthday on 10th August. On arrival there was a slight mix up but the helpful receptionist Emma K sorted this out within minutes and also upgraded our room to a suite. Spacious apartment lovely decor. I had booked the romantic getaway package which included a bottle of chilled prosecco and we were also left a little cake and card for my husband's birthday, which was a lovely touch. A three course meal was included in the package too and we couldn't fault this at all. Just one small error made when we were charged for the desserts the following morning, however the very helpful and friendly waiter Todd sorted this out with his manager Rebecca who again was very helpful and rectified this within minutes. The hotel is in an excellent location. We would highly recommend staying here and we will certainly be visiting again.

    « Lovely Stay »

We stayed here for two nights at the end of July for my boyfriends 21st as we had tickets to see Jimmy Carr. Its in an ideal location, short walk from the shops, docks, tourist attractions and is relatively easy to find. We parked in the Q Park which the hotel does a deal with for I believe £8 a day which is great and it cant be more than a 3 min walk away. We had a lovely room on the bottom floor right next to the reception desk with a big bathroom. It was very clean and spacious and we didn't hear any noise from the road. Only downfall was that it was a little dark. The reception were very helpful in arranging taxis for us as the theatre was not within walking distance and they were all very friendly. We ate in the hotel on the first night, the menu is limited and I struggled to find something I like but it was enjoyable however it did take a long time to come despite being quiet which meant we had to rush our meal down and quickly pay in order to catch our taxi. We didn't opt for breakfast as other reviews pointed out it wasn't too great but there are a few breakfast shops on the same street. All in all a pleasant stay.

    « Nice rooms »

Nice hotel, stayed here at the start of July on a groupon offer including spa (Spa is actually across the road, didn't have a steam room, is one room with a ducuzi which didn't turn on). Anyway, hotel was nice, rooms very were nice, comfy beds, big TV etc, didn't hear any noise from other rooms which is a common problem in more modern hotels. This is about 15mins walk from Liverpool 1 which was ok, but if I was staying again I think I'd like somewhere nearer the docks/centre as this was about 30mins walk to the docs. We went to San Carlo restaurant which was really good. Breakfast in the hotel was ok, again included so wasn't too fussed.

    « Don't go there! »

We stayed on a Groupon deal and were purposefully put in a crap room with stains and mould on the wall where the air con didn't work because apparently that's how they treat their customers. As soon as we complained, they put us into a new room for "normal" customers which was ten times better and newly decorated. Speaking of customers, service is appalling and they all need to get some basic customer service training because we got ignored upon checkout for 15 minutes... Tacky decor and awful feel about the place. I'd rather stay at a Holiday Inn/Travelodge because they are chains and know what they're doing! Ruined my boyfriend's birthday weekend.

    « Great Hotel! »

Spent the weekend here with a group of girls on a hen weekend and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Rooms were perfectly clean and beautifully decorated. The fridge with fresh milk and complimentary water was a great little extra touch. We didn't have dinner or breakfast at the hotel but the restaurant looked lovely and there was live music on so would of been very nice. This hotel is in a perfect position -5 minute walk into shops and train station and close to all bars and restaurants. I stay in Liverpool a lot and will be 100% be recommending to all my friends and family ... currently trying to persuade my partner to book our next trip!

« Great night, shame it wasn't longer! »

We booked this through Secret Escapes like many others on here and got a very good deal. The hotel is in a nice central location allowing for you to visit all of the wonderful sites in Liverpool. Just be aware that you have to pay £15 per day to park your car on site and parking in Liverpool is quite hard to find so you may have to pay the money to the hotel. The hotel provide a valet service and they are very helpful when taking and receiving your car. The room we had was a junior suite and it was a very good, clean and comfortable room - it was a shame that we weren't there for longer. The breakfast the hotel provides is a waiter service and the options on offer are varied and the full English I had was incredible. Overall it is a very nice hotel in a prime location to explore the wonders of Liverpool!

    « Loved it. »

We stayed in a junior suite in the Richmond for a theatre trip. The hotel was lovely as we entered. The room was stunning, gleaming throughout with a very nice bathroom. Really comfy bed and a huge t.v in each room. The kitchen area all looked brand new. We had breakfast in the morning in the restaurant which was really nice, although the food could have been warmer. The Richmond is a lovely hotel and we would definitely stay there again.

« Enjoyable couple of nights. »

First visit to the hotel and was very impressed. The room was large and very clean, two large t.v's, kitchen and dining table and lovely king sized bed. Toiletries and tea and coffee provided. Breakfast was good with a a vast choice and even provided soya milk for us. My only complaint is we had to change rooms after we'd unpacked and got settled due to the power sockets kept tripping. The room we were moved to was very tired in comparison to what we originally had, some stains on the walls, carpet and sofa and the plug in the bath didn't fit. The staff were very apologetic but a complimentary drink in the bar for the inconvenience would have been a nice gesture. I would though return without hesitation and would recommend to family and friends.

    « Disappointed »

Booked with Secret Escapes got a good deal, so I thought, suite free bottle of fizz bed and breakfast and evening meal for 2 nights. Room 353 what a let down stains on the beige carpet, stains on the walls from old sellotape blue tag etc as for the kitchen area the grease on the walls was discussing. Sofas were sofa beds so uncomfortable to sit on. I wanted to leave but my husband talked me round. We went down to the restaurant, we had booked before our arrival, service slow food eventually arrived it was ok.They had run out of my first choose on starters and Dessert so made do with soup and no dessert!.Restaurant and bar area quite nicely decorated. Second night some emergence in the kitchen had to wait 1 hour for our mains but we did get a free drink. Breakfast self service adequate. This room need a good few Coates of paint after a good clean a new carpet not beige, a splash back in the kitchen area, new net curtains which were torn and only then would it be a reasonable standard. Don't waste your money staying here.

    5
    « Excellent apartment! »

Spent the weekend here as part of a group for a friends birthday in one of the Richmond's apartments. I cannot fault any part of it! Excellent rooms, service from the hotel bar and dining room was friendly polite and efficient and the hotel overall is exceptionally clean!

    « Great hotel »

Stayed he for 1 night with 3 couples. Great hotel, comfortable beds, lovely bathroom. Unfortunately our air con was not working but after a phone call to reception and one was brought up to us. Gentlemen at reception at 1am when we returned were very accommodating serving us drinks and moving tables for us to sit at even though they were all set for breakfast. Would not hesitate to stay again!

« Groupon Girly Night Away »

Couldn't fault the hotel, spotlessly clean, fantastic hospitality, accommodating service and friendly staff. I went on a Groupon deal with a friend and we both said we would definitely go back. Fab central location and the valet parking was a really handy extra.

    « Beautiful and unique »

A beautiful suite greeted my arrival, well appointed open plan sitting room, kitchen and dining room and a separate bedroom - the most comfortable cosy bed ever. The bathroom was luxurious with a huge walk in rain shower that was super powerful. I had a lite bite as arrived late a felt perfectly safe in the bar brasserie as a lone female I think the term is - the bar man recommended a tasty chilled Chenin Blanc and I had a delicious feta and beetroot salad. Breakfast offers an extensive choice in a classic hotel style with linen table cloths and serviettes, quite genteel! Located in the business district and only a 10 minute walk from lime st station it suited my needs perfectly and I highly recommend.

« Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff »

We stayed here for our second anniversary using a 'Groupon' deal incorporating bed, breakfast and bubbly, and it was a delight. The hotel was clean and the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was perfectly adequate: good size with a comfortable bed - although the fact that it was listed as 'suite' confused us (we learned that 'suite' in this instance meant set of individual bedrooms not your own suite of rooms). Good location, ten minutes walk from the city centre and ten minutes walk from Lime Street Station. Biggest bonus for us however was the handwritten card in our room for our anniversary - thank you so much Sophie, Emma and your colleagues - what a wonderful surprise! ^_^

    « A beautiful hotel »

We stayed here as a gift from our daughter and son - in law for all the help with their wedding The hotel is beautiful the staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. we stayed in a classic double room which was a good size for what you need love the little fridge with fresh milk and water tea and coffee making facilities, the large double bed was amazing with a thick mattress topper a truly luxurious bed, there is also a 50 inch LCD TV on the wall and the bathroom was a good size with some lovely complementary toiletries and the shower WOW fantastic it has a large power head from the ceiling gorgeous shower. Breakfast is everything you want and more all freshly cooked I would recommend this hotel its location is fantastic for seeing the sights of Liverpool head to Mathew street for a fun packed lively evening and you have to try the famous Cavern and see all its memorabilia a good bar to go in is rubber soles had a fab night in there We are definitely going to book here again Thank you Richmond for a truly fantastic break

« Budget hotel with added trimmings »

Like most people in the hotel we were here on a "voucher deal" which incorporated a basic room, breakfast and a bottle of wine for £79. for two people and to be honest, that was all we really needed for a one night stay in Liverpool with easy access to bars and restaurants. Service was friendly, breakfast was ok at best but overall it represents great value for a city centre location.

    « Lovely stay. »

What a lovely and pleasant experience we had. We've stayed in Liverpool a few times and this is by far the best one yet. Our room was very comfortable and felt like a mini apartment. At breakfast there was such a wide variety of items to choose from and our waiting staff Emily and Rebecca really looked after us and sent us I our way very happy. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

    3
    « A good location »

We booked this hotel via groupon. It was a decent enough hotel and easy enough to walk in to the centre. The hotel corridors were dated but once inside the rooms they were ok and had the main amenities (hairdryer, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities but no iron). I have had better breakfasts but served a purpose and the staff very helpful and friendly. I would stay again

« Fantastic hotel, great location and a lovely room »

We booked a night stay at The Richmond via Wowcher (£79 for the stay with prosecco, breakfast, late checkout and spa access) as we have never been to Liverpool. The hotel offers a discount parking ticket if you use the Q car park on Dale street, this was about 2 mins walk from the hotel and was a good secure car park. The hotel reception was lovely, decorated in a modern boutique style. We checked in, speedy and friendly staff were around the hotel and all said hello etc. The room was gorgeous we loved the style, the size and the layout. The bed was comfortable and the shower was a good size. The prosecco which was chilled in the fridge was lovely. The tv was huge and the aircon was good. We popped over to the spa (directly across the road) and used the gym (again was very good) and then used the relaxation pools which were really nice. We then got ready and walked to the centre of Liverpool which took about 7-10 mins. We ate out and returned to the hotel for a drink and then went to bed. The only thing that was a negative about the room is that the seagulls outside were so so noisy I didn't sleep much. Bed was comfortable. The breakfast was ok it was a help yourself buffet but it was a little cold. Selection was very good. We really recommend the hotel and we will be coming back!!

    « R Brassiere at Richmond disappointing »

This is a review of the R Brassiere only at the Richmond. I bought a Groupon voucher for 2 course meal with Prosecco for about £30, supposedly worth up to £70. However, this was rather misleading. When I checked the A La Carte menu online, the most expensive starter was £6.95 and the most expensive main meal was £16.95 (excluding steak and lamb for £19.95 which carried a £5 supplement)! For two people this would total £47.80. According to the menu, Prosecco is £7 a glass so add £14 to £47.80= £61.80. However, I'll try not to quibble too much as we were paying less than the menu prices. The menu was very limited in choice. Not always a bad thing but for me there was little to choose from as I don't eat meat but I'm not vegetarian. The 2 veggie dishes didn't appeal at all, so I went for the salmon. Not the most original of fish for an upmarket restaurant, I would have expected sea bass or bream at the very least. Anyway, it was fine. Should have been served with sweet potato mash, but the staff said as there wasn't any I could have ordinary mash or chips- I decided on mash. My husband selected the pork, but was told as that wasn't available he could have the lamb or steak without the supplement. So that was perfectly acceptable. The staff were all very pleasant and the restaurant itself pleasing on the eye. However, we felt that the menu needs to be a little better.

Gem of a place.... a lovely hotel with a team of friendly and courteous staff. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready, however we were offered a room for us to change and freshen up as we had spa and beauty treatments booked in at ESK. Our room was lovely and clean and the beds were so comfortable.. We enjoyed our breakfast..plenty of choice and it was consistently replenished... usual choice of buffet Full English and croissants, pastries, toast and cereals. Car parking...we parked at the Q in Vernon Street... around 5 minutes walk away just off Dale Street... it's €19 for 24 hours...but the hotel will give you a 50% off voucher when you check out.... great value.... Cannot fault the hotel and will definitely return on our next visit to Liverpool!

Lovely hotel. Lots of character. Service on the Saturday was very good. Sunday wasn't so good. Room was very warm also dusty. Staff very pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. Hotel was well located. Just a few minutes walk from the town. Lots to do in Liverpool.

« Ok handy for local amenities »

Stayed overnight on a Groupon deal with bottle of bubbly and spa access. Initially advertised on Groupon as being available on friday evenings but when I checked on Groupon booking site all the Fridays were unavailable. I felt this was a bit misleading especially as I had rung the hotel and rooms were available for the date we wanted. However the hotel was reasonably quiet (Sunday) when we stayed so probably better. Parking is either 2 streets away half price with hotel voucher or for £15 car will be parked for you. There is one door to each 'apartment' off the main corridor and rooms are through this. Our room was sufficient, not very large but clean and comfy with a nice shower room. There was no bath which I would have missed if we had been there longer than one night. The bed was comfy and we slept well but could have done with a blind over the window as it was light in the room in the morning. The small bottle of milk in the fridge was much better than the tiny milk cartons usually provided in hotels. A nice touch, and our bubbly was in the fridge on arrival. Staff were all pleasant, the bar pleasant and staff made good cocktails which were reasonably priced. Evening meal was fine, service was a little slow between main and dessert but we were offered a complimentary drink as a result and we hadn't even complained. The spa wasn't mentioned at check in but as it's across the road and doesn't have a pool we didn't bother. Breakfast was a bit busy, we were seated in the corridor between reception and the bar right in front of the lifts which wasn't the best as folk were coming and going. It's a buffet and as there is not a lot of space the different food selections are in different areas, however the food was good bit does need hot plates. I would suggest ordering meal to be delivered to the room. There must have been more people in the Hotel than we had originally thought. The Hotel was ok but something is missing for a supposedly 4 star hotel. It's handy for amenities but would probably only stay here again if we got a good deal.

« Comfortable stay, good location »

I've stayed here for a number of weeks for work. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. Reception staff very helpful. The let down throughout my stay would be the restaurant, when busy staff tended to neglect customers especially when busy more noticeable when they were hosting a coach party. It would have been nice to have been advised that restaurant was going to be busy durning their seating times. However the food was very good and well presented. A number of times breakfast wasn't always setup 100 %. Dispite the restaurant I would recommend a stay as you have the town centre for plenty of food choices

Excellent friendly staff. lovely clean hotel. A well located hotel with easy access to the city centre. This is a revisit as we were so impressed on our previous visit. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable.

« The perfect Christmas dinner »

My father in law booked our Christmas dinner here and we were so impressed, as my own family live else where I wasn't feeling too Christmasy but the Richmond turned that around on the day! We were met in the stunning bar area by the friendly Rebecca who had a chat with us, offered us a drink and told us where to head to. She also informed us that there was a kids room set up near the dinning area, this was fantastic as we had our little nephew with us and he was very entertained. A nice family touch. Entering the room, it was bright and Christmasy and had a lovely live singer on. The food was gorgeous, I had the beef and it was so yummy! The staff were attentive and friendly, especially with our nephew who is only 2 and was a bit restless. A special thanks to Sandra, Austin, Rebecca and Daniel who all took the time to make our Christmas so special! Highly recommend

    « Slightly Disappointed »

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding back in October and needed a hotel in town. For some reason most hotels were fully booked or extremely over-priced. One hotel wanted £999 for one night (we've stayed there before for £70). The Richmond, although more expensive than normal (£180 rather than the regular £60 - £80) wasn't as expensive as others and was close the venue where we were hosting our party. We arrived in town early to set up the room and the staff at The Richmond managed to find us a room which was available early which was great as we had a lot to do in the day. The entrance to the hotel and the reception area/bar is very modern and looks lovely, but once you get deeper into the hotel it isn't as modern as you'd expect. Our room was very spacious but again, wasn't as nice as we were expecting, especially for the price. There was a massive hole in the wall where the wiring for the telly hadn't been fixed/finished. There were dirty marks smeared across the walls but the floor and bed seemed clean enough. The wardrobe was tiny, considering the size of the room we'd have expected something better. We were only staying one night but we couldn't even fit in my husbands suit in it properly. The bathroom however was gorgeous, with a massive shower and lots of marble, totally the opposite to the bedroom. I think if we'd have paid normal price we would have overlooked the issues but as we paid quite a lot of money, for one night we were slightly disappointed. We were also disappointed in the staff, we explained our reason for staying in the hotel (and whilst we weren't expecting any freebies) they didn't even offer to arrange a taxi for us. The weather that night was awful and my husband had to go and get us one in his wedding suit while I stood in the doorway in my wedding dress. We don't have many reasons to stay over in town with living in Liverpool but if we do I don't think I'll go back to The Richmond.

Beautiful surroundings for a perfect Christmas Afternoon Tea. Champagne, sandwiches filled with tasty turkey, salmon and cheese. Topped off with dreamy delicate cakes. Superb! And the staff were attentive and friendly. Make a lovely gift for the New Year.

« Large, spacious rooms, excellent location »

Stayed for 2 nights just before Christmas. The hotel is ideally located to explore the city. Rooms are large and include a separate living area and well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds and absolute quiet at night make for a nice rest! Staff were friendly and helpful, a credit to the hotel. Highly recommended.

« Handy for the Centre »

We had heard about the noise issues at this venue, but as we were on the fourth floor, it didn't bother us. 50" TV and a fridge with complimentary water, tea and cafetiere coffee... with biscuits (yay!).The king-size bed was super comfortable and the room and bathroom were a decent size. If we'd have had the cat with us.... The staff were great ~ really friendly and helpful. Recommended.

    « Pleasant Surprise »

We stayed here as a result of using up some Best Western points, and was very pleasantly surprised. The room was huge, more of an apartment in fact, with kitchen facilities, a dining table, two TVs etc. The staff were excellent on checking in and out, and service at the bar was quick and efficient despite there being a private function. Very good, will come back and would recommend

    « An OK Hotel »

First of all I payed £398 for a Fri and Sat night. I arrived Friday night, the staff seemed like they wanted to be anywhere else. I was rushed through check in and payment, wasnt told when breakfast was or where it was served. The room looked fantastic, we had a Richmond suite which had cooking facilities, comfortable lounge with large TV and a great bathroom. The bedroom was also nice (view not great but wasnt bothered) The bed however was sqeaky and loud everytime you moved on it. Good selection of breakfast but found the cooked stuff luke warm which was a bit annoying. The keycard stopped working twice, the lights blew once, the phone in the room stated the wrong room number therefore reception thought i was someone else. Checkout was fine and we could leave luggage in a storage room. Overall, not the best stay at a hotel, but I have had worse. Certainly not worth the money, if it was £100 less id be satisfied.

    « Birthday Ruined »

Partner booked this hotel for 2 nights on a deal which when i saw the actual nightly rate, thought was great value for money! Work has been so manic for me, my partner booked this so I could unwind! I wanted to shop in Liverpool and have a few cheeky drinks of a night. First impressions - lovely! Staff - wonderful but now i feel that they are deceiving! We had the worse nights sleep of our life Friday night and ended up sleeping in Saturday morning due to the noise so many others have previously mentioned! Due to not wanting to waste anymore of Saturday, we reported this noise on our return about 6:30pm!! I wish i had read the reviews on this place as surprise surprise, the reception staff acted like this noise was a mystery and not normal (i recorded it on my phone it was that loud) and we were offered another room - Fantastic i thought! Got into our new room and the lights blew - waited over 1 hour in the dark for someone to come and fix it. Missed our dinner reservation. The man who fixed it was delivering ironing boards to people - prioritise?? I would have left Saturday night if it was me who had paid! I didn't feel relaxed. In fact, we checked out Sunday, i wouldn't even go to the desk i was that cross and deflated, my partner had problems in regards to the parking argh!! I slept all Sunday when i got home because i didn't sleep well at all in this joke of an establishment . I would not book this hotel ever again!!

    « Good Value Hotel »

Booked this hotel for a 3 night stay in Liverpool. It is well situated being 5 minutes from the Cavern and not much more from the Liverpool 1 shopping centre, 10 minutes from Albert Dock and close to Lime Street Station. The accommodation is well designed being made up of 3 room suites which can be booked individually or as a group. I guess each group of 3 has 2 double en suite rooms and a third (in which we stayed) which comprises a large bathroom, a good bedroom area, a well appointed lounge area, a dining area for 6 and a fully equipped galley kitchen. This room appears to be designed so that the occupants of all 3 rooms could use it to socialise/eat etc. if booked as a 3 couple group. We were on the first floor which I think has been refurbished and we found the quality of our room to be very good as were the public areas on this floor - I cannot comment on the quality of the accommodation on other floors. The breakfast selection was good - on the first 2 days it was buffet style - the only negative being that the "hot buffet" could have been hotter! Positively you can have eggs of your choice cooked to order if desired. On the 3rd morning the breakfast was plated but there was no restriction on what you could order and when served it was nice and hot. The bar area is spacious, modern and pleasant to sit in. It is also the restaurant and breakfast area, We ate in here on our last night having explored Liverpool on foot for 12 hours and had lost the will to go out again. The service was very good as it had been when we had cocktails on previous evenings. The menu is reasonable varying from Pub Grub to steaks etc. - overall I would say it is slightly expensive but definitely not extortionate especially if your feet are sore! The staff were excellent. Overall this was a great stay and excellent value for money. Liverpool is a great place to visit - lovely people.

« Could have been better (Room 163) »

First night was hell Monday (14th December) lots of doors slamming all night and the Air con making a loud buzzing sound so left us really tired for the Tuesday and didn't get what we wanted to do done. Tuesday night was a lot better apart from the Air Con buzzing. Lovely looking clean rooms and hotel, shower was great we didn't eat at the hotel as there was so much choice around Liverpool.

« Excellent value and great staff »

Stayed for one night and found it to be better than was hoping for. Got totally confused by google directions, out of tunnel, bear left and left again, and first right and hotel on right! Opted for valet parking well worth fraction more to pay. Check in was quick and went to room, what is it with hotel rooms that they have great bed and no occasional table and one easy chair? The room was huge and the bed enormous and so comfy. Very quiet room nice touch was fresh coffee and cafetiere, and fresh milk in fridge. Didn't have breakfast there. Tried a couple of cocktails which was a good start to the evening. Valet parking was £15 only little more than nearby multi-storey but so convenient and would choose that option next time. Staff were so helpful throughout stay in all departments. It was a short walk from the main shopping street and John Lewis. Already planning next trip for 2 nights next time. Enjoyable stay.

Stayed here a week ago, staff very pleasant. Not to sure about the room it was clean and the bed comfortable, But strangely didn't look finished off, plain cream walls, no mirror in room so when getting ready to go out it was very difficult, yes there was a mirror in the bathroom but If someone was iin there made difficult to get ready to go out electrical hair products etc.......the colour scheme well don't know how to e explain gold and red felt a bit like being in a Chinese..... The breakfast was very good plenty of choices..... Within in easy walking distance to the Cavern and Town, Pubs etc....... Booked on special offer would definitely wouldn't have been happy if paid full price.....

We booked The Richmond for 1 night (as part of a 2 night break) through a voucher site, which included breakfast and (amazingly) free parking. The location is excellent and the building itself is lovely from the front, with generous sized and modernised rooms (ours anyway), pity the heating didn't work...but reception did provide a portable which was fine. While I'm on about heating, the heated towel rail didn't work in the bathroom (it's only means of heating) which made a large fully tiled room a little fresh. Style in the communal areas is "boutique" but the over use of Black & White (IMO) is jarring, especially at breakfast (interesting location) surely a dedicated room would be more in keeping? All of the staff were friendly and helpful, a note to housekeeping/management, not putting a valance over the mattress base really, really spoils the look of the bed and also the room...love the picture frame around the TV idea though and may adopt. For a bargain break, close to all the highlights, it's a recommend from me!

« Average hotel with potential to be much better »

The location of this hotel makes it an ideal choice - 10minutes walk from the centre. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast is very good. But these points aside, it is quite an average hotel. I think it is between 3 and 3.5* It all looks a bit 1970s and in need of updating. Our room, whilst very spacious wasn't quite what you would expect - as if it was half done. PLUS - On the positive side, the room (suite) was large, well appointed with fridge/freezer, hob/oven and sink as well as a large TV and plenty of room to walk about. - The high-ceilings give a big feel to it and the bathroom is mostly very good - lots of nice lighting and a huge anti-fog mirror. - The air conditioning is excellent. MINUS - The aforementioned high-ceiling has an artificial lower-level ceiling above the bathroom - no problem. BUT, above this lower ceiling is an empty space (a dust trap) serving no useful function other than to expose the waste pipe, meaning that everytime anyone in a room above us (we were on the first floor) flushed their loo or took a shower, you could hear the water draining and this happened from 5:30am onwards. - The large TV is behind an enclosed mirror/cupboard - aesthetically, it looks great, but it means the remote control only works if you are very close to the screen and you cannot plug anything into any TV sockets (HDMI to integrate a laptop for example). - The windows are single-glazed, which means the street noise is loud and there is a very cold draft from the windows. - The double bed (way too small) was very old and tired with two big divots on either side of the mattress where it had been worn over the years - long overdue to be replaced. - The lighting at the room entrance is very poor - you cannot see into the wardrobe, nor into the safe (I used my phone's torch). - The spa facilities are across the road. None of us were prepared to walk in the rain to get to the spa. - Our room was located opposite an open stairwell. This meant that the corridor and entrance to our room stunk of smoke as at the bottom of the stairs was the hotel's main entrance. Smokers hung around the door, which meant smoke got blown up the stairs - yuk! - There is no free-parking at the hotel. They offer a concession at the nearby multi-story car park (5mins walk), which costs £8 / day. Overall, I would not choose to stay here again until it was brought up to a proper 4* standard.

    « Day tripper »

Let me start by the Richmond hotel is well placed less than ten minute walk from lime street station and the same to the city centre ,it has nice curb appeal it's clean and the staff are friendly. For me it stops there .on arrival our chatty receptionist told us we,d been up graded to a suite on the ground floor so your immediate reaction is great all I can say is have a look first it was like the Y.M.C.A. Not 4star . Plain cream walls not a picture in sight not a wall light or lamp in other words stark .we could also hear every word spoken in the street I was told the building was listed so they couldn't,t change the Windows ! No thought to secondary double glazing then . The breakfast is excellent but cold and the plates were too ,again for 4star not acceptable. And there's always a silly reason why this had happened. The evening meal was no better I chose sea bass at 16 99 on arrival after a 45min wait I received two pieces of fish 2 inch by 2 inch on a mountain of lentils by now I,d given up .Would I stay at the Richmond again or recommend it probably not such a shame.

« Great City but hotel could do better »

This was our first visit to Liverpool and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Liverpool has much to offer and as a city break destination I would recommend it for those interested in culture in all forms and good eating. We selected our hotel from an offer on Amazon Destinations, big mistake, won't be doing that again. The Richmond Hotel in Hatton Garden, just misses the spot on so many levels. The rooms are spacious but soulless with just no atmosphere at all? Ours had two bedrooms a kitchen two bathrooms a sitting room dining table and chairs plus a sitting room area. In sq.mtrs. massive but no view out of room window, opaque glass and dark light well. I recommend stay down in the dock area Hilton have a great location or Hard Day's Night near the Cavern Club same price and much better. The Richmond has just joined the Best Western Group so things may improve they need to. Staff are pretty clueless couldn't even tell us where to catch the hop on hop off city tour bus, not good. The public areas restaurant, lobby are better than rooms, but very 'Black and White' and the presence of huge TV screens at every angle in the dining room is not good. If I am being honest the whole place needs a shake up. I will not be returning to the hotel but will go back to Liverpool.

    « Excellent Breakfast »

We stayed for 2 nights in early November. The room is clean though a bit small. But it has a high ceiling that makes you feel more spacious. Overall it's comfortable for a short stay. The breakfast is fabulous with a good variety of food. The decor of the restaurant is classic and staff are efficient. The location is not prime but not far away from city center.

    « What a Shame »

We came to Liverpool for my birthday and to see a show at the arena. On arrival, the hotel is stunning, staff were lovely on arrival, this didn't last. We were upgrade, so I was very excited, the room does need some TLC. We needed a taxi for the evening and were informed to just ring down and this will be requested for you, when I rang there were no taxis available, staff not very helpful, and were told to walk down, we may find one at the bottom of the road. We were woken up by the sound of drilling and hammering in the room above, very annoying. We ordered room services, very disappoint, we paid a lot for Sea bass which was shrivelled and served with hard risotto. The breakfast was cold on arrival. We always stay in Best Western as they are normal superb, such a shame this one was not. We would not go back!

    « Missed the mark »

Stayed on the first weekend of December 2015. The room was clear when we arrived, and the bed was comfortable. Couple of points that mean I won't be staying here again. - When we arrived there was some sort of Karaoke or bad music night happening. Which meant that reception was as loud as a night club and we could hear terrible singing in our room. - Our room was located right next to the lift, meaning that all night we could hear the lift thump to a halt and the mechanics dragging it up and down. - The rooms heating didn't work. We reported it to Reception who sent someone whilst we were out for dinner. Nothing was fixed but we arrived to having plaster all through our bathroom and he/she had clearly used our toilet. The following day we advised again that we had no heating - so they sent a heater to our room. Unfortunately the heaters power cord was only 15cm long and couldn't actually reach any of the plugs in the room (we shivered). - On our last night at 2:30am we were shocked awake by our door lock being used and someone on the other side (keeping in my that our room was the only room at the top a of stair-case) it was rather alarming. On Crutches I had to get our of Bed, fearful that someone was breaking into our room. I called reception and was told "oh yeah, sorry - we had an issue with some locks so we we're just fixing them". - Finally (and not a huge issue), no shower. Just a bath with a nozzle that you have to hold. Overall - wouldn't say we got a 4x star hotel and for the price we paid could have and should have gone somewhere else.

« Frozen Christmas lunch in Liverpool with the Disney characters »

DO NOT BUY A TICKET FOR THIS SHAM!!!!!! without doubt the worst money I've spent. The production itself apart from the outfits bares no resemblance to frozen which is basically what your children think they're going to see, instead be prepared to meet Crumpus the Christmas witch in possibly the lowest budget production ever considering the money spent collectively by the room full of parents it was nothing short of a disgrace. Next came the buffet, there was only three tables so if you weren't quick enough to grab one of these seats which the vast majority obviously weren't you had to eat your lunch on the floor if you were lucky enough to get any food that is, by the time we got to the front of the queue there was barely anything left and what there was was cold and inedible. I regret not taking pictures of this to prove just how bad it was. Also the drinks prices were increasing as the sham continued. To top it off was Santa, after queuing for fifteen minutes with my children Santa got up and left the rest of the queuing families because it was to crowded. All in all disgusted that a local four star hotel is taking peoples hard earned cash in this manner

    « Average afternoon tea. »

2 of us went for an afternoon tea. It was disappointing. The food was really average. Nothing special at all/not tasty. Chip mugs/plates Toilets were not very clean. I was expecting a bit more typical English crockery and not just a simple silver tray to bring our food for example. Staff were ok. However the Champagne was nice and cold. Wont recommend afternoon tea there.

    « Memorable winter break »

We've just returned from a very enjoyable city break in Liverpool. The Richmond proved to be the ideal base: a short walk from Lime Street station; centrally located so that all the attractions were within walking distance; comfortable and clean; wonderful staff (who are an outstanding feature of this hotel) and great food (breakfast will keep you going for hours). The wi-fi signal was a little weak on the third floor and we did get a little intermittent disturbance from some noisy guests in the room above but our only significant issue was the reservation mistake that resulted in us being put in a standard double room on the first night instead of the junior suite we had booked as part of a leisure break deal. There was no suite availability the first night but we were moved the following day and an allowance was made on the bill. Overall we had no complaints at all and thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Richmond. The City of Liverpool itself is wonderful and it's hard to pick out a favourite attraction, but for me the close proximity between the Richmond and the Walker Gallery was a real bonus, as was the Ship and Mitre pub just around the corner. We can happily recommend the Richmond and fully intend to return. A big thank you to the staff for a memorable holiday.

    « Trying hard »

My wife booked here through late rooms for a romantic weekend away including a match day at Anfield. It was an easy check in process with complimentary upgrade to a suite but alas, we could not stay in the first or second rooms we were given. The first room, we were turned around at the door by a manager as there was a problem with the electrics. The second, there was an appalling smell of sewage from the pipes under the sink where a panel had been removed. It was all very clean, but without the extractor working, unbearable and we had to request to move again. Also, only a minor point but only one of the remotes worked for the 2 giant tv's in the suite! It also had a terrace which you couldn't use as it was sealed and the sky light latch was broken and hanging off. The third room was without upgrade as they had none left so was the classic double. Everything worked and it was great! Friendly staff helped with the messing around and helped to upgrade us to a suite the following day when there would be availability. Breakfast was good and all hot and fresh. Staff were good and restocked the buffet. The bar staff were great, especially Sean who should be congratulated for his manner and friendly attitude. In all, this is a good hotel with helpful staff who are trying to work around a hotel that is in need of some tlc to get everything working as it should. There are signs in the lobby about their refurbishment and new lift they are working on and I suspect that it is a tricky period of flux. Worth a stay and I would go back again

    « Overall a nice place »

I wanted to pick an English hotel rather than an American chain. It is close enough to get to the train station(s), and within walking distance of everything in Liverpool. We were on the second (third for Americans) floor in a very small room. But it was clean and in good shape. They are refurbishing the hotel and start working on it at 9am. It might be an English thing but there were limited furnishings. There was a cupboard to hang clothes, but no dresser. I didn't need to hang clothes, just put them in drawers, so we lived out of our suitcases on the floor because there was no luggage rack. There was a chair at the desk, but nowhere else so we ate room service on the bed. No towel racks or hook in the bathroom, so you have to get new towels everyday, even though there is a placard suggesting to reuse the towels to save water. But if you can't hang them to dry them..? No telephone, so had to go downstairs to order room service and also get security one day at 2:30am when a very loud argument broke out next door. The shower has a half-glass vertical wall, which allows the water to splash onto the bathroom floor (so you really need to get new towels everyday, if you soak up the water on the floor.) There is very little shelf space in the bathroom, so toiletries stayed in the suitcase. The blow dryer needs to be plugged in outside of the bathroom door. I could see most of my head when drying my hair but i'm short...if you're tall it might not work for you. The heat in the room was very good - we turned it off and put the air on to cool it down. Then turned it totally off. The hot water in the shower etc was great, the internet was great, the spa across the street was great. I didn't care for breakfast ( look on the back of your key envelope - you can get breakfast cheaper if you tell them the night before. No one told us that so we paid full price, and I didn't see the back of the envelope until after I had returned home.) We had a couple of dinners - one was excellent, the other they didn't give us everything that was supposed to come with the meal. Prices are a bit high for meals, but you're in a hotel and that's how that goes. There are some fine restaurants down the street and around the corners. The hotel was quiet for the first few nights, but it got much louder on Thursday/Friday, presumably because they had more guests.

« Night away from the kids!! »

Stayed here after purchasing a wowcher code for £76 for overnight stay with breakfast, prosecco and spa access. Hotel was nice and our room was very comfortable, fresh milk & water provided in fridge. Bathroom & bedroom were very clean. On checking in we headed over to the spa. The spa is a little small and was rarther full. So not very relaxing when you have a lot of people chatting around you loudly. It was disappointing that the only difference between pools was the temperature. Was nice to try & relax once a few people had gone for treatments. We decided to eat out at an indian restaurant near by & go for a few drinks in Liverpool centre. So didn't eat in. Hotel was very quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was very good, hot and a great selection. Staff were very helpful and I would love to come stay again.

    « Lovely stay »

We wanted to do some Christmas shopping and decided to have an over night stay in Liverpool. After looking on the wowcher website we found this hotel at a very good price, Bed and breakfast plus a bottle of presseco in the room. Rooms very spacious and bed very comfortable, The shower isn't very good if you wanted to wash your hair as it's to high and took ages to wash the shampoo out. Reception staff where ok but we have met a better welcome at other hotels. Bar staff where very friendly and chatty. Breakfast was delicious. On check out we had a long wait as the staff had either lost our car or keys!! we wasn't sure which was the case as there was only one girl who was running around doing everything.... We would stay here again as the room was lovely

    « Hmmmm »

This hotel is grand/ modern We stopped in apartment 4 room 442 for 3 nights.. The bed was ok? Bathroom and the tv was the best (when we figured it out) There was an odd smell that welcomed us into the room? That you kind of got used to? We asked for the room to be cleaned the following day but they didn't arrive to clean it until 7/8pm??? Not sure that's an appropriate time to be cleaning guests rooms? The front of house staff was lovely and. Very helpful one young lady knew all you needed to know about where to eat, drink and visiting the area! I'd say 3* it has the potential to be the 4*'s is been awarded!

    « Defiantly worth a visit »

Amazing Hotel, The staff are so friendly, they can't do enough to help your requirements. Breakfast was excellent! We had a junior suit on the ground floor room 082, the beds are very comfortable. Just a quick stroll in to the city centre, I can not fault this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Liverpool.

    « Enjoyable stay »

The location of this hotel is ideal. First impressions of the hotel was impressive. Check in was quick and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Interestingly the restaurant accepts taste card. You can get a free 30 day trial. This then makes dining extremely good value. Our apartment was beautiful and exceptional value for money. The only problem was the tv in the bedroom was not working properly. This was no problem as there was another one in the living room. would definitely recommend this hotel. Would be suitable for families as well.

« Second visit and 100% our last »

Booked to stay at the Richmond for couple of nights as been before and was quite an enjoyable trip so assumed would be the same this time. However I was completely wrong. The first thing we noticed is that the front entrance and elevator stunk of cigarettes which wasn't very pleasant. Arrived in our room which didn't have a welcome pack, so no health and safety info or how to use the phone to ring reception or the normal information you'd need to know. The room was tidy but it did have marks all up the walls and iron marks in the carpet!? The bathroom was clean however did think was a little odd how you had to squeeze past the toilet to get in the shower. Went to bar area the next day to order drinks the waitress said she will be with us in a moment and then disappeared for 20 mins finally came back took our order and instead of taking that to the bar decided to lay a table instead. Waited another 15 mins and finally our drinks arrived. Decided to order another round only to go through the same ordeal. Bearing in mind all they needed to do was pull a pint which takes about 30 seconds! Very poor service and absolutely ridiculous. On our last night we were woken up at about 2 in the morning to people upstairs making the most horrendous noise, arguing and partying. Flushing the toilet every 2 minutes which sounded like it was coming from our room. We tried to get back to sleep but this went on all night. Banging doors, screaming, laughing, shouting. Completely unacceptable. We couldn't ring reception as we still had no welcome pack and had no idea how to work the phone. The security guards could not of been doing their job because if they walked near their rooms they would of heard the racket and should of done something about it. By about half 4 we had enough. we had absolutely no sleep, no way of complaining, was completely fed up and just wanted to leave the hotel. We packed our stuff asked to check out and was told by the receptionist she won't be doing anything to compensate us as we didn't complain which we were not happy about. She also sent the security guards up who actually discovered there were double the amount of people that should of been in that room however didn't kick the extra people out which meant they would just carry on. Eventually she gave us 10% off which in our opinion is not enough, took payment for the second time which was odd as on arrival someone else had asked for payment which also showed up on my bank statement. Assured us that that was frozen and only one payment would be taken. Arrived home and checked my online baking to see that they have in fact charged twice and quite frankly the experience we had they were lucky they were even getting payment for the second night. This was by far the worse stay in a hotel we have had and definitely won't be returning nor will we be recommending to anyone.

    « unfinished »

spent the night with my girlfriendat the richmond hotel, we arrived to find the hotel room to be unfinished, the bathroom tiles were loose, the bathroom fittings were either loose or missing completely, and took the hotel nearly 2 hour to sort out our issues, and they didnt do it fully. there were good points but wont be staying here again, nor will i be recomending it to anyone close to me.

    « Classy and convenient »

We used a "Red letter day" experience voucher for a two day break at The Richmond on a bed and breakfast booking and it was a very nice break. The hotel is convenient for the station and located near enough to the centre of Liverpool to walk to without breaking into a sweat. The hotel itself is elegantly decorated and our room, which was an apartment with a well stocked kitchenette, was beautiful. Fresh bottled water and milk was provided each day in our little fridge and we had a useful safe to keep valuables in. The breakfast were buffet style with the option to order extras, such as vegetarian sausages, from waiters. Friendly and helpful staff 24 hours a day, had to get our roomkey card replaced after a late cinema trip when it went wonky. Even though it was aftee midnight there were staff on hand to quickly solve our problem. (Have since found out that electric key cards don't like mobile phones in close proximity!) All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would love to return to it and lovely Liverpool again.

    « Short stay »

Enjoyed our stay here freindly staff comfortable clean rooms and a five minute walk from the centre for bars and shopping had a good quality buffet breakfast in the morning never had chance to try the restaurant but all in all a good stay and would be happy to book again next time we visit Liverpool which was also great

    « Will Definitely Return »

Stopped here on a deal, it was brilliant, felt very comfortable as soon as we walked in,we were very early to book in but they let us go to our room, the Reception staff are lovely so friendly and helpful. The Hotels location is wonderful, just a short walk to shops, site seeing etc. We had a three course meal included in our deal, which was extremely good, and again the staff were very helpful, the menu was limited but for the price we paid it was great. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable, the only problem we had was the young couple next door in room 181, who came in at 2 in the morning arguing and shouting, and the walls are very thin so it was very loud!!! We did not let this upset our stay but it was'nt very pleasant. We had a very nice breakfast, which was buffet style, the food was hot, fresh and plentiful. Apart from the noisy neighbours all was good and we will return, well done to all staff.

    « Nice »

Stopped here for a night as part of a deal with bed and breakfast. 10 minute walk from the train station and also to the main shops, bars, restaurants etc. Place is lovely and clean, modern decor. Staff all friendly but the man who checkes us in at reception seemed very nervous and didn't give us all information such as time for breakfast, where to go etc.. or explained how to find room numbers. We were on the forth floor, and it took us a little while to realise that the rooms were grouped into "apartments" and that our room was within that apartment along with two other rooms. In the room and bathroom, again very clean. Only downside was that the central ceiling light wasn't bright so it made it hard to see and the shower easily got water on the floor which could make a potential health and safety hazard... the room we had was at the front of the hotel and was very quiet apart from the people going up and down the stairs at the side/above our room. We didn't have our evening meal here, we looked at the menu and nothing appealed to us and was a little on the pricey side so we ate out in Liverpool. Breakfast was brilliant, so much to choose from. All self-service and you could go up as much or as a little as you choose.. hot and cold items, with plenty of variety from cereals, to yoghurts, cooked breakfast, to pastries. The music was a little loud for our liking but we still enjoyed our breakfast. We didn't use the spa/lesuire facilities so we can't comment, however we were put off as those facilities are over the road opposite the hotel. So we didn't bother. All in all our stay was wonderful for the one night and would definitely return if we had a deal again.

    « Lovely »

Got this hotel on wowcher deal, £79 for the night stay, use of spa, bottle of prosecco and breakfast. Our room was lovely, it was in apartment 15, I believe it was 153. Lovely spacious room, cold milk and bottles of water in fridge, couldn't complain really. Breakfast had a decent variety, the usual 'full English' as well as cakes and croissants and then cereals and fruits - which all looked appealing. I had a small 'English' breakfast and a croissant which were nice! In the spa, located across the road: it's quite small, 3 small pools at different temperatures and sauna and steam, luckily we were the only people in there so we had it all to ourselves but I can imagine on a busy day it could be quite chaotic! It was very relaxing! The spa itself is absolutely stunning! But couldn't stay there for long as it got quite boring, so would recommend getting a treatment if you wanted to make the day out of it. Also had access to gym which we did not use but had a look at; it looked quite good, had all the basics and everything you'd need. Changing rooms were nice too! Also had a cold water top you could get cold water from.

« Lovely hotel disappointing room »

We stayed for a one night break..reception was busy on checking in but quickly we were booked in quickly. We had room 043 which is on the ground floor. Good sized room very clean with spacious bathroom. We had also pre booked afternoon tea..great selection but you can't have artificial cream with scones even though it was advertised as clotted it clearly was not!!...Staff were most welcoming and friendly. Great decor throughout. The Bed was huge and very comfy, but this is where the issues started. The room was street side so every drunken idiot that walked past woke us up and there is a water down spout in the room from the rooms above so whenever someone flushed the loo's from above I jumped awake as it just sounded as though it was rushing into our room. These issues spoilt the overall experience. I would recommend a stay here however be wary in which room!!!..

« Good hotel in a good location but... »

Our experience there did not turn out to be that great. We were placed in a wing of the building where there was no Internet access. This may not be a big deal for others, but it was for us as we wanted to keep in touch with our family and friends back home. The staff kept promising that it will get fixed, but it never did. We have selected the hotel because it advertised the free internet access included in the services. That was never made available to us. The hotel refused to move us in a different room, promising that the Internet will be fixed shortly. As I said, it never did get fixed. In the end, we left rather displeased with the whole experience. At least the staff at the hotel gave us a discount on the fee that we had to pay for parking our car on their premises. The hotel is nice and clean and placed in an area very closed to the main attractions in Liverpool and their main shopping area. Everything would have been close to a 5-star rating except for the dishonest attitude of the staff that kept lying about the Internet only to see us through our stay.

« Wonderful stay - Will Definitely be back »

Stayed on a Sunday night, staff were lovely, smooth check in, great comfy room. Booked through Amazon so also had dinner in the restaurant, which was lovely. Cocktails in the bar were great too. 5 minute walk to Mathew St and 10 min to the waterfront and Docks. Can't wait to go back!

« Comfortable room in good location »

When I booked a room at this hotel way back at the end of August it had fantastic reviews here. However, during the past few weeks some of the reviews have not been good. I was therefore not really knowing what to expect when I arrived. On arrival I found the hotel to be in a good location and had only been a short walk from Lime Street Station. It was lovely to walk past the poppy display at St. George's Hall on my way from the station to the hotel. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely surprise, when I opened my room door to find that I had been upgraded to an apartment room. It was very convenient and comfortable to have an area with easy chairs, large screen tv and table, all separate from the sleeping area. In addition there was a very well equipped kitchen area complete with full sized oven. Being on my own it was good to be able to bring food back to my room to warm in the oven rather than eating alone in the restaurant every night. I did eat in the restaurant one evening and the food was good and the staff friendly. I can't comment on the general appearance of stairs, corridors etc as I only saw a very small part of the hotel and all that I saw was good and well cared for. My room was on the ground floor adjacent to the bar/restaurant and so the only part of the hotel I saw was the entrance, reception, restaurant and my own apartment room. I was concerned about noise, as access to my room was through a door off the bar/restaurant. I actually heard very little noise even on the Friday evening when there was music and a party in the bar area. There was little or no noise from outside as I was on the back with only a view of other tall buildings across a narrow access street. The bed was very comfortable, with a second large screen tv in the bedroom area. The bathroom was excellent, with really bright lighting, good complimentary toiletries and a very good shower. I have given this hotel a rating of 'Very Good'. I think this is mainly as a result of the upgrade to the apartment room and the friendliness of the staff. I would certainly stay here again if I could be sure of getting an apartment room at a reasonable price. I think I may have been disappointed in the hotel if I had been allocated the double room that I had booked. The location, however, was fantastic for visiting all parts of Liverpool and surrounding areas with local trains and buses being very close. Now just a few hopefully constructive suggestions that for me would have helped me to raise my 'Very Good' to an 'Excellent' rating. Although my apartment room was spacious, comfortable and had very good facilities, a little bit of colour in the furnishings and some brighter lighting would have made it more welcoming. With the very high ceilings and great expanses of grey walls and no view out of the window, it did feel a bit cold and impersonal. Just a few pictures on the walls would make a difference. A microwave rather than an oven would have been more useful. Wifi was very good in the sitting/kitchen area but poor in the sleeping area. The variety and quality of breakfast was excellent. But why, when the cooked food was kept so hot on the hot plates, were there only piles of icy cold plates to serve it on. By the time the food had been on the plate a few minutes it was not very warm to eat. I loved the position of my room, on the ground floor, quiet and only a few yards to walk to breakfast, but the only access to the room being off the bar/restaurant was not always the best entry and exit route especially in the evenings when there was a party in the bar or people dining in the restaurant.

Stayed in this hotel for 1 night. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The buffet breakfast was OK I have had much worse.Very happy to find 2 bottles of water in the room cold because they were in a fridge and proper milk I generally don't have a cup of tea in the room because it is normally uht the real milk is an excellent touch. Will be revisiting in the future

    « A nice hotel »

My girlfriend and I stayed here Sunday evening and it was really nice. The TV in our room didn't work but a young guy from reception (really tall) managed to move us into a Jnr suite!....Thanks! The reception and bar decor is a little bit 'strip club 2005' but it's ok. It would also be helpful if the reception staff explained how to get the discount on parking at the Q parking place......insert your original ticket followed by the ticket they give you. All in all a decent stay.

« Lovely hotel, lovely staff »

Stayed on a wowcher voucher & was an absolute bargain for the money. Really lovely hotel & staff very nice. About 10-12 min walk from the main shops & bars. Pity the spa is across the road but not a major inconvenience. Spa a little tired but for the money we paid was, definitely worth it. Would recommend & stay here again.

    « Afternoon Tea.....apparently? »

We were given a voucher for champagne afternoon tea here, and i'm just so glad we didn't actually pay ourselves. Imagine afternoon tea in TJ Hughes on pension day and you will get the picture. The staff were all racing around on our arrival trying not make eye contact with us to actually seat us and serve us. The sandwiches were starting to harden and go curly, and the cakes...well i've tasted better in Aldi's best value range! these were not made in-house like The Panoramic, and tasted nasty and cheap and left a film on your teeth!. The champagne was not champagne and tasted like cheap Cava, and the scone well that was just laughable. anyway we wont be going back and I don't recommend you pay the £50 they are asking for?!?

« Good location, poor hotel! »

Booked this hotel through Secret Escapes for my wife's birthday. Looks impressive from the outside but inside the flock wallpaper cannot hide the fact that the hotel is a little tired. The staff were all very friendly but its seems inexperienced and under staffed. Our room was ok, but there no phone to which the staff all seemed surprised, this meant we had to keep physically walking down to reception if we needed anything. We had to wait an hour for an Iron to be brought to our room which made us late for our dinner and were also advised that the hotel would not book us a taxi! We did in the end get a taxi through reception but were advised that the iron had taken so long as they only had 1 porter servicing 170 rooms!!

    « Terrific hotel experience »

I booked The Richmond for a surprise weekend away in Liverpool with my girlfriend, on the back of reading so many positive reviews on here, and I was not disappointed. The hotel is located on a quiet street, about 5-10 minutes walk away from the main shopping area and Albert Dock, along with railway stations. It is like a grade II listed building, and the entrance is really nice and welcoming, with a cheeky bit of red carpet laid down on the steps. I booked for a Classic Double room, and to our surprise on checking in, we received a free upgrade to a Junior Suite! the apartment was lovely and spacious, and an absolute treat with high ceilings, a large and comfortable bed, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, spacious bathroom and a sitting area in front of a large plasma TV. Previous comments by people mentioning it being too noisy, thin walls, the sounds of pipes churning etc, i can only speak as I find and we found none of these to be a problem at all, and had undisturbed sleep. The bar and restaurant area is very nice to have a drink or eat in, and we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly too - a room is provided at the hotel to store luggage upon checkout. If you are thinking about booking this hotel, I would say don't hesitate - it is terrific and lives up to a 4* rating.

Great location, 5 mins walk from city centre. Main areas are very fancy, but room needs tlc. Room was massive huge bed. But was water damage from rooms above, bed was 2 different halfs stuck together. Ad to tighter up handles on shower myself. Great having free fast wifi. To be clear the hotel car par and spa is not not site like Expedia claims

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel to do Xmaa shopping. We stayed in one of the apartments which has a fully equipped kitchen dining area lounge fantastic comfortable King size bed two 55" TV's with Free Wifi in the bedroom. The restaurant in the hotel served excellent food. The Hotel was perfectly placed for shopping - just 2 minutes to walk to the main shopping area. Wetherspoons pub for excellent food and drink 2 minutes from hotel. Staff at the hotel were extremely polite and helpful.

« Good DBB package in a central location »

A group of us stayed for two nights. It's a big hotel with a mix of studio apartments and rooms. The bar / bistro had a good menu which was included in our DBB package booked through Amazon. The hotel is very central and convenient for the main station and sights.

    « Not a Great Stay »

We stayed at the Richmond for a 3 day break in October. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Lime Street station near the City centre and about a 10 minute walk from the waterfront. We had the Richmond Suite and although a good size room with two bedrooms the lighting was poor and the room a bit on the dark side, which was not helped with several broken light bulbs and also windows being covered up with no natural light coming through. The room had numerous faults including lose fittings, TVs' that were not tuned in, broken taps and stains on carpets to name a few. Housekeeping was very poor and on our second day we returned to our room at 4pm to find it had not been made up. When I questioned this with reception they told me that priority is given to rooms waiting for new arrivals. We eventually had a dour faced lady turn up just before 5pm to clean the room. Not very convenient when you want to relax and have a bath/shower before going out again later. She banged around for about 20 minutes and left without even making one of the beds up! On check out day however, we had three knocks on the door before 10am asking to make the room up. While the public areas of the hotel (restaurant, reception) were fine, the corridors and stairs were rather tired looking with red carpets that looked like they needed a good clean. Breakfast is a hot buffet and was ok. Scrambled eggs are offered and you can request fried/boiled eggs although be prepared to wait. The staff did not fill up the empty containers on a regular basis so on all three days we ate in the restaurant there were missing items. On the plus side, we did eat in the restaurant on our first evening and the meal was fine and service good although there was hardly anyone in there. Overall not a great experience but Liverpool is a great City and if you want to do a good Beatles trip, I would recommend the Fab Four Tour, which is a private black taxi tour and costs £55 for three hours. The drivers are very knowledgeable and you get to see all the Beale landmarks including all four house they lived in. Follow this with a visit to the great Beatles Museum on the waterfront.

« An independent hotel - and it shows a bit »

The good: Lovely old building, converted well Comfortable bed Stunning bathroom with powerful rainfall shower Easy to control heating/cooling Quiet rooms with heavy drapes so we slept well Massive TV Good hairdryer, cafetiere, water and milk provided Discounted parking deal at Q-Park. £8 for 24 hours Friendly staff Fast, free Wifi The bad: Slightly bare room, just bed and desk - no chair, sofa, luggage storage? No views Slightly shabby corridors and staircases On the (slightly seedy) edge of the city I would stay here again for the price paid but luxury it isn't.

    « Afternoon Tea »

Check out Wowcher codes. My friend and I booked afternoon tea here, for just £25.00 for 2, which included a glass of champers, sandwiches, cakes, and tea / coffee. Excellent value. A little walk for the centre, but a much quieter atmosphere, and worth a little stretch of the legs. Would go again. Wowcher also has other deals at the moment for an overnight stay, very reasonably priced if you're in the city centre mid week - so I might end up doing some Christmas shopping and doing just that.

« Friendly staff and great location. »

Book through wowcher with ease but wasn't exactly sure what it was going to be like. On arrival we checked in at this impressive looking hotel only to be put in a dark and damp (and prosseco-less) room at the very entrance to the hotel. Quick chat at the front desk and the very helpful and friendly staff immediately found us the proper room on a much quieter second floor and how lovely it was too. Huge comfy bed and lovely ensuite with all amenities. Breakfast was excellent as well.

« Be warned when booking! »

A mistake with booking dates brought us to this Hotel..a booking through last minute.com was made but the payment wouldn't go through! So another attempt was made using a different card- details were still in place so we thought but eager to make the booking we hadn't noticed that the dates had resorted back to that evenings date last minute was contacted immediately, they said to phone the hotel and explain that obviously the booking wasn't for that very night and the next but for next month..the manager would not budge no sense of goodwill or customer service what so ever! Appalling ! So first night wasted but determined to sleep in the room the following night on principle but even that wasn't straight forward! It's a lovely building and the desk staff were friendly. The room was nice, though small, very noisy plumbing in our room and plumbing noises from other rooms. Corridors needed cleaning and decor tired in places but the biggest disappointment was that the much advertised spa isn't even in the hotel..its across the road- very misleading. Parking is at discount price in a public car park. There are so many other better hotels in this area and I'm quite sure that we would have been treated fairly on our genuine mistake when booking. This hotel hasn't even had the decency to acknowledge my letter let alone reply to my queries- customer satisfaction... Nil.

    « Book elsewhere »

Having bought this offer on wowcher,it was inclusive of prosecco, breakfast and use of the spa. The room itself was quite small, but ok for the night. The room boasted a smart tv with querty remote, which didn't work! So after ringing reception to report this , I was asked if I was pointing it at the correct part of the tv 3 or 4 times I managed to convince the reception man that I was not an idiot and it really wasn't working! He turned up 5 minutes later to make sure it really wasn't working! And surprise surprise it wasn't! Great news! I'm not an idiot!! We then went out and on return found a bog standard replacement, so much for being able to use the smart tv! The next morning we were rudely awoken by the sound of the fire alarm, which we were dressed and half way down the hall before it stopped! No phone call or knock to see if all was ok or sorry for the inconvenience! Since we were awake! We decided to go down for breakfast! Wish I hadn't bothered! It was buffet breakfast with different eggs on request! So I asked for a fried egg, after 10 minutes I received the said egg dripping in grease! After dabbling it dry with my napkin and proceeded to go the buffet were I got the last of the luke warm mushrooms and found there was no beans! It was 9.15 and breakfast was till10, and while I was there I didn't see one member of staff check to see if anything needed replenishing! I then went to look for a member of staff to ask for beans! The lady was very polite and asked why isn't there any? Err maybe not, hence why I'm asking for some! Idiot syndrome again maybe! She did however tell me she would bring me some out,so another10 minutes later I received the beans! And low and behold, the other luke warm breakfast was now stone cold! I obviously complained of this, and was told a whole new breakfast would be brought to me! So another10 minutes later I received another breakfast, of which I was to eat alone since my husband had ate his half an hour before! Ridiculous! On checking out we complained to the receptionist, but got the distinct impression she wasn't really bothered! Although she pacified us by saying she would pass the comments on! Would I stay in this hotel again? Probably not! So many other hotels in Liverpool that would run rings around it for the price!

« A Place to come back to »

I love this hotel - I stayed here for 7 weeks during 2014 for business Mon-Fri. I am back again and staying for 9 weeks between Oct-Dec 2015.. The rooms are great size and have everything I need whilst away from home. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and nothing is too much truble. The use of the gym is a must for me as is the discount parking. Thank you all at The Richmond

    « Oh the Noise!!!! »

I was willing to ignore the highly chipped paint on the lift doors and the tired carpet considering the nightly room rate because our room was clean and decorated to a good standard. But once the noise started... about 1.30am something happens to the pipe work. The hotel staff will make you feel as if it is a one off and they are surprised by it but now I have returned and properly investigated the 1 and 2 star reviews, I realise it is a regular occurrence. It is impossible to sleep through the noise. It is like a powerful bath is running constantly through the night directly behind the headboard. As stated, reception staff act shocked but maintenance obviously know what it is. On complaining on checking out, nothing was offered by way of compensation, even though this completely ruined our enjoyment of the weekend. Sort this out and sort out your customer service please. For the room rate, a good night sleep is an essential requirement.

« Good value, great family pub »

Visited here again with family as have been previously. The food was plentiful and good value as always, however I was a little disappointed with "what" was served. We ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas for my nan. The meal however came with garden peas (she can not eat these) and should of came with buttered bread, which it didn't ! I ordered a med/rare steak- it was very well done! The atmosphere within the pub was nice and busy but the staff I came into contact with seemed distracted and on the point of "couldn't be bothered". Overall we still enjoyed the visit but will be looking for somewhere else next time.

    « Excellence »

In short, The Richmond gets right what so many places do not - genuinely warm welcome, comfortable bed, great shower, superb selection for breakfast & free wifi. All buildings have their challenges, these guys do their best to overcome them with continued dedication & investment - the results are quirky & thoughtful. All for a very fair city centre price. I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Liverpool. Keep up the good work.

I recently visited The Richmond for a friends birthday lunch and just wanted to leave some feedback for the amazing staff. We were attended to by two servers both of which were extremely polite and helpful when coming to providing recommendations of what to eat. I personally opted for ham hock terrine, lamb rump with cottage pie and sticky toffee pudding. The quality of the food was out of this world. Not only were the portion sizes substantial the food tasted fantastic. The presentation was on point and we hope our compliments to the chef(s) reached your kitchen staff. This was our first visit to The Richmond and will 100% be back in the near future. We have recommend to our friends and would gladly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere new to try.

« Lots of Space and Tasty Breakfast »

Spent 3 days visiting Liverpool, hotel within walking distance of Museums, Shopping, Docks and Lime Street Station. Very large suite with lounge area, Kitchen and large bathroom and bedroom. Price paid was excellent value with a very good breakfast included. All members of staff were friendly and helpful.

« Hotel is okay, DONT bother with dinner, eat elsewhere »

It was difficult to decide if the Hotel is a boutique/trendy hotel or a 'wannabe', why, why black net curtains in the bedrooms? We had a nice room, (probably recently reburbished) with a good size bathroom etc - no complaints there. It was noisey at times but this was due to other guests coming in very late shouting or leaving early and banging doors. However when we had paid the best part of £70 EACH per night I dont expect to be offered Sausages, Cottage Pie, Pizza or Fish & Chips as part of the Hotel's advertised 'FINE DINING EXPERIENCE'. The dinners were really poor and the same meal varied dramatically night by night. On the first night we noticed that the meals were lacking ingredients to those specified on the menu, (vegetables missing, served without sauces etc), we were told that the chef had been off for a few days but no further explanation was offered! The Hotel needs to look at that this and address the problem if they wish to continue charging those prices. If the hotel wants to give guest meals that cost about £5 in a pub reduce your dinner prices. On the last night we asked if we could sit on the more comfortable 'booth seats', (there were 4 of us in the dining room at the time), we were told No! The reason given was that they were expecting a lot of people to come back and watch the football game being shown on TV. Half an hour later we were the only two people eating, it took 1 hour 50 mins to get to the end of our meal, very poor service. When we left the table there were about 8 people watching the TV, obviously anticipated TV viewers are more valued than staying guests.

« Attractive hotel but avoid if you want a decent nights sleep »

Myself and my fiancé stayed here for the night for our anniversary. At first appearances we were very happy with our choice. The lobby area and the room were very pleasant. However upon further inspection there were damp patched on the walls, a few stains on the carpets and the plug in the bathroom did not work. The greatest disappointment was at night time. There was a horrid loud noise through the vent (not the air-con!) all night. I did phone reception at one point to complain and was informed "it'll stop soon", which no it did not! This, along with hearing every time a room next to us used the water, kept me up all night. I was ready to complain (again!) upon checking out but we had a young boy training who checked us out and I did not want to make things difficult for him as he was only young. We then had to pay £15 for the parking! and I still have not had my £30 refunded which we had to use as a deposit (which was never advertised). Massively disappointed as we had such high hopes, but then being unable to sleep all night after paying that much for a room is unacceptable!

« Rooms OK, food and bathrooms need work. »

Booked for one night whilst attending a trade event near by. The good points about this hotel are that it's big, reasonably close to everything in the city. I was given a room with two huge windows and a really high ceiling. Everything about the room itself was good - and the decent coffee in the cafetiere is a definite plus (along with getting a small bottle of proper milk, rather tan UHT). The bathroom was a real let down for me. Firstly, the bath taps didn't work and if I'd wanted a shower, I would have had to run one using the hand-held shower. There was also something pretty wrong with the plumbing the next morning in that I couldn't have a shower with a constant stream of water - it was banging with the water coming through the large shower head in bursts in time with the bangs. By this time, I was already leaving the hotel but I reported the next morning. I also reserved a table for dinner the night I stayed. I was really underwhelmed by the quality of the food (Pizza). It wasn't terrible, but I can't describe it as good and I probably wouldn't go back. The service was great by one lady in particular. Breakfast was fine though. It's not a bad place to stay, but I'd probably choose elsewhere next time.

« Terrible food but staff lovely »

Visited today for my daughters birthday. All four of our meals were poor. One was sent back and replaced. Two weren't eaten and the fourth was overcooked . Staff were very apologetic and offered free desserts. The two that had desserts said that they were not good either.

« Our last visit to this hotel »

Returning for the 4th time (for the first time with my wife) I was expecting the same size apartment as previously; separate bedroom, a Kitchen and a lounge. Arriving late in the evening, we were put in a very small and dark room, which we complained about instantly. After having showed a slight unwillingness to change our room, the reception was finally able to move us to a room twice the size, however it was still very dark, and with a balcony door (without a balcony attached to it..) rather than a window. We agreed to resume the discussion regarding a decent room the following day, as it was close to 11.30 pm at the time of arrival. As it turned out, no upgrade was available the following day, and we therefore decided to move to another hotel. Upon termination of the booking, and claiming hotels.com's 1 day cancellation charge, we were informed that the fee would be 2 days rather than one, as a 24 hour cancellation clause existed for this agreement. I told the reception that that was physically impossible for us, as we arrived very late the evening before, but that was not of any interest for the lady at the desk. Maybe I booked the wrong room. Maybe the cancellation fee should be 2 days rather than 1. Maybe I should have understood that laundry could not be guaranteed as advertized during weekends. That's all fine, when you've travelled long enough, these things happen. But I will not tolerate being treated, and talked to like a jerk, and for this reason alone, I will not return to these apartments again.

    « Average »

« Ideal for family group »

We like to book a 2 bedroom apartment rather than 2 individual hotel rooms and the Richmond seemed ideal. Pros: The apartment was big, with our own corridor joining 2 separate rooms. The smaller room contained a double bed, sofa and armchair, 2 enormous TVs and en suite with a shower (plus a very useful fridge and facilities for making tea/coffee). The larger room had 2 double beds in separate areas (not rooms), sofas and armchairs, dining table/chairs, 2 en suites - one with a shower and one with a shower over the bath - and a reasonably equipped kitchen (no apparent microwave although we only used the kitchen for light breakfast). There were also 3 enormous TVs (1 in each bedroom area and 1 in the living area). A broken table and lights not working over the cooker were quickly dealt with when reported to housekeeping. Cons: The only thing that spoilt the table/kitchen area was the absolute absence of lighting and the fact that the only convenient socket in which to plug our laptop - the one by the table - had no electric supply to it. We reported the socket twice on the day we arrived (when we wasted 2 hours waiting for 'someone to be there soon to look at it') and once the next morning but, despite assurances, when we left after 4 days it had still not been fixed. The Internet was down for an evening/night so we were not able to plan our next day in advance. There are large windows and patio doors in each bedroom/area but it's not possible to see out of them nor to open the patio doors - although we didn't enquire why. Which leaves you with no idea what the weather might be doing until you get outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful (as far as they were able) and despite the minor niggles, which make it impossible to give a perfect score, we would certainly stay at the Richmond should we visit Liverpool again.

    « Just Ok »

The hotel is ok - looks recently refurbed - but with expensive design tast, and cheap materials. The wifi was awful - modems in ceiling outside every room - so ladders needed to reset! There was a strange smell lingering while I was there - not offensive - just strange.

« Good place as a base for a City Break »

This is obviously an old building which has recently been undergoing refurbishment as a hotel, previously office accommodation apparently. The Apartments would make lovely accommodation for a group of family or friends as there are 3 bedrooms behind one front door, offering privacy and space to be separate or together. We had a comfortable double room which filled our needs well. We loved the hotel's location as we could explore Liverpool easily on foot - the pedestrianized shopping and leisure area was only about 5 minutes and a few more minutes to the Dockyards.

    « Brilliant »

Stayed here with my partner for the night in a lovely room with a kitchen and living area, clean and quiet through out the hotel. Staff were all lovely and very helpful, also access to a spa across the road! Absolutely brilliant hotel will most certainly be returning!

    « Great Midweek Break »

Just returned from a 2 night midweek break at Richmond Hotel. Excellent in every way especially in restaurant where staff, especially Rebecca, were very helpful and knowledgeable regarding my celiac disease. Only 6 minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street station and central for shops and restaurants. Rooms very comfortable with king size bed. Highly recommend.

« This hotel has seen better days »

From the minute you walk up the steps on the tatty red carpet, you realise that The Richmond has seen better days. The downstairs public areas are not bad but when you go upstairs, my first impressions were that the corridors cou?d do with a lick of paint. We stayed in a suite as we were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary and the rooms were badly in need of redecorating. Dirty marks on the walls, a 10p sized piece of plaster missing from one of the walls in the bedroom, cracked tiles in the bathroom and black mould on the sealant in the bath. The standard of house keeping left a lot to be desired; never have I had such a badly made bed in a hotel. We used the little bottles of shampoo in the bathroom on our first night and they weren't replaced even though we stayed three nights. I am amazed that this hotel have such good reviews on Tripadvisor.

« Avoid if you want a nights sleep. »

Stayed at this property for one night. The hotel is very well located in the middle of Liverpool City Centre. The car parking is expensive at £15 however the hotel offer another car park a small walk away from the hotel for £8 for 24 hours. The hotel is very impressive when you first walk in. The reception area and restaurant/bar are very lovely. Checked into room 182. The room was nicely decorated, however the pillows on the bed were stained with black marks. Are consisted of the inside of a car park. However the bathroom was lovely, the shower great and the room seemed cleaned. The major problem with this room is the noise. The walls between each room are extremely thin and the room next door to us was vacant with another couple. We could heard every conversation this couple had and every "activity" they involved themselves in and to be honest it was very embarrassing to here such things. I feel as though the girl would be mortified if she knew that we could hear everything that was going on. - We have recorded how easily you could here this couples conversations and will have no problem sending this to management if they request me to do so. Finally at 4am in the morning we had had enough of no sleep and phoned down to reception, reception told us they could ring the room and tell the to quiet down. I informed reception that the problem was how thin the walls where not that the couple were being over-the-top loud. I told reception I have simply phoned down to let them know that we will be making a complaint in the morning so they are aware that we have not just made this up and we have in fact been awake ALL night. The next morning we went down to reception to check out. The head receptionist Jennifer checked us out. Unfortunately she failed to ask how our stay was so I told her I would like to make a complaint and explained what happened. Jennifer told us that she could not refund us any money off the room as we had already paid and told us that if we would like to return she would of for 50% off out next room. 50% off what? To have a sleepless night again. Myself and my partner both run very hectic busy lives and sleep is very important to us so this lack of sleep has severely disadvantaged us. We asked to speak to the manager, Jennifer went to get the manager but returned alone and after my partner speaking for 20 minutes only then where we offered free parking (£8 refund). I am by all means not an expert in the hotel business however by using logical common sense I do understand that a hotels first priority should be to ensure that their guests have a good night sleep. The Richmond Hotel failed to do this. Furthermore having worked in customer service for over a decade I do know our complaint was not taken seriously with a pitiful £8 refund that to be honest was an insult. We paid for a good nights sleep which we did not receive. I feel as though we have been robbed of our money.

« Wonderful decor and friendly, helpful staff »

Booked one night stay on dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Very welcoming staff when booking in and the decor in side is beautiful. Room was clean with 50'' TV and all normal amenities. Food was good and fresh. Would recommend.

Not the best location but that was the ONLY downside. Great hotel, Great food, Great staff. I would recommend the valet parking as its not vastly more expensive than the other options. Would definately stay here on my next visit to Liverpool

« A TOUCH OF CLASS WITH AMAZING STAFF »

Booked this hotel as a stopover for flying out from Liverpool Airport. Pleasantly surprised on arrival to be told we had been upgraded to a suite (understatement.... we were hyperventilating in fact). They like to upgrade members where possible. The reception area is beautiful as is the whole of the hotel from outside in. The receptionist gave a very warm welcome. She confirmed the parking. £8 for 24 hours with a special ticket from them (valet parking for £15 if you prefer). Car park just in next street. As the restaurant has good reviews we booked there and then. Could just chill out in our suite....which included our own kitchen and living/dining room! The suite was fantastic with 2 massive tv's. We certainly made ourselves at home. Comfy bed (squeeky mind you). Massive thick curtains (no light would ever get through these). Big fridge with milk water and ice for us. Dishwasher! And the restaurant experience was the icing on the cake. The staff are all phenomenal. So warm and friendly. The food excellent. Cocktails at the very beautiful bar. It's all black and white. Very art nouveau. It's clean. It's appealing. It's highly recommended. Big thanks to the lovely Rebecca in the restaurant and josh at reception. You do this hotel proud.

« Good Location, Valuable Money »

The hotel location was nice. Less that 5 minute walking to Liverpool city center. The rooms are clean and spacious. lovely sitting area and bedrooms. I had issues with wifi in my room for three days. The staff did not fix the problem and did not change my room. I used to complain everyday about this issue, but they did not fix it. When I checkout, I asked to talk with the manager to complain, but he did not show up. Another person from staff heard my complain and I asked her to pass it to the hotel manager.

Amazing location, right near the city centre. Opposite the hotel is Central Perk, which is decorated just like the show friends where they show programmes all day which is great. The hotel itself is lovely, very clean & spacious. Amazing huge curtains, 09:30am & it was still pitch black, loved it!! I would deffinitley stay here again :-)

    « Best staff anywhere »

We stayed 2 nights on a birthday trip for my wife. We found the hotel staff to be ever so helpful and simply could not do enough to please! We had a Richmond Suite, It had plenty of room and comfortable, with the two biggest TV's I have ever had in any hotel room, in the UK anyway! One problem they are both the same brand and the remote, you can see what's coming here!! yep you turn on the bedroom TV and the other one breaks into life!! We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night, food was good service was the best, I'm sure that made the meal taste better? Location was very good, you were only a 10 min walk into the main shopping centre or the other way an brisk walk down to the front and the docks. Back to the hotel its self, although overall it looked well kept on a closer look it could do with a little face lift in the rooms and hall ways. simple things like pictures and maybe even the odd touch of greenery could make a massive visual difference? its all a bit like a hospital hallway, less the patients on the trollies! In the rooms, we had several lights not working, try change the bulbs!! see its simple little things at very little cost. The house bathrooms is massive and modern. Overall I would go back and would say its a good hotel in a good location for tourists .

    « Anniversary night away »

We stayed here as a last minute booking. Paid £70 for room only. The room was lovely and what we needed, good for the price although the view was a brick wall! Found all the staff really nice from reception, bar staff and even cleaners really pleasant. Didn't know this hotel even existed till we found it on line but we would definitely stay again.

« Quality stay, quality Hotel »

Our room was a little on the small side but well appointed with everything you would need for a two night stay and a few extra flourishes to make it feel a little extra special. Breakfast was included and a good spread of tasty hot and cold buffet food. Staff were helpful, rooms nice and clean. Parking in a local muti story was charged for but subsidised. Two things to note. The air con in the room was very noisy so we switched it off as it being Oct not needed, and there was a lot of late night very early morning street noise so maybe request a room at the back if available.

« Disappointing meal in the Restaurant »

Waited at restaurant reception desk for ten minutes before any staff members came near us. We had booked at table in advance but the reservation wasn't checked off, and we were told to sit anywahere. It seemed totally disorganised from the outset. We weren't provided with a menu when we took our seats, and had to ask for a wine list and a menu but ended up with two wine lists and no menu. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited another ten minutes or so but no wine arrived. We approached by another member of staff who asked if we were being served and we pointed out we'd ordered wine but still had no menu. We re-ordered the wine and eventually ordered two main courses. We waited a good forty minutes until main course arrived with no interaction from any of the staff and no explanation for the wait when the restaurant was far from being busy. We were still eating main course when the staff started setting up for next days breakfast with staff clanking and clattering tables and chatting about what goes where which didn't seem very professional and it juts seemed like they wanted to get us out of the door. For all is seemed when we arrived, we left very disappointed.
