    « Awesome pool »

The outdoor heated pool is amazing. Small restroom in room. Clean towels and linens. Breakfast hours are too short and staff fumbled our Grab & Go snack bags and did nothing to remedy the situation. Convenient location and very clean.

« Wonderful dinosaur filled weekend »

We live locally, but have never actually been to the Morrison Dinosaur Ridge. We took the bus tour and stayed at the Best Western Dinosaur Hotel (and suggested they rename the dinosaur behind the registration desk "Reggie, the Registration Dinosaur"). What a wonderful hotel with a wonderful staff. The hotel has a wonderful location near many things, including the movie theater with a free parking garage. WOOT! My husband forgot his pillow there. They got our information and will hold his pillow for us to pick up.

    « Awesome pool »

We visited rocky mountains for first time and spent our last nite at this hotel. The pool area was awesome after a long day of sight seeing and hiking! The hot tub was perfect and very clean. Looked like rooms had recently gotten a fresh coat of paint, only issue we had was bathroom door would not stay closed.

    « Good value »

Nicely remodled hotel. Good breakfast, great people in the breakfast area and room cleaners. Some of the people at the front desk could use better customer service training. Beds are great, coffee is great and available all day. Very nice pool area and bar area. We have stayed here several times. I recently recommended it to my sister for a block of rooms for a wedding in October. Worked out well.

« Best Dinosaur Hotel Since the Jurassic! »

The Best Western Denver Southwest, better known as the Dinosaur Hotel, is a great place not only to stay in comfort, but also to check out many fossil replicas and learn a bit about Colorado's prehistoric past! This hotel is fun for the kids, has a very friendly staff, and supports local museums such as Dinosaur Ridge and the Morrison Natural History Museum. Dinosaur Ridge staff has stayed there and have nothing but good things to say about the quality of the room, service, and location!

« Great stay every time »

We have stayed at the Best Western Denver Soutwest, Lakewood, CO on several occasions over the past two years and have enjoyed our stay completely each time. The breakfast is great and the staff serving breakfast are efficient and friendly. The desk clerks are helpful and courteous and management is accommodating.

    « Great pillows. »

Very clean and great beds, the pillows were outstanding and they had lots of them on the bed. Great Breakfast and a very helpful staff, great stay, I would recommend to all to stay here and a great value too. Thanks..

« Best Place all round, great price »

Our family stayed here one night while traveling from Colorado Springs to Estes Park. It was the best place we stayed all week. The room was clean, spacious, with comfortable beds. The bathroom was very clean and the bath linens were good quality, not the thin flimsy ones sometimes founds. Bed linens looked clean and crisp. All staff, from front desk to housekeeping were friendly and accommodating at all times. We are used to staying at hotels with free breakfasts but this one was over the top. Never have I ever seen such a selection of quality, great, yes I said great, tasting food. I have been know to be picky with food and cleanliness, and this place surpassed all expectations. Would recommend this place to anyone and my mother.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

I stay here exclusively when in Denver Metro Area. Very private location. Love everything about it. Highly recommend you stay here, although a little pricey. The TV is a flat screen, enjoyed it and the shows available. The new pool is handicapped accessible. Breakfast is great! Staff was delightful. Great private location. Wish more hotels were set back from the main street as this one is.

    « Best Stay @ Best Western »

Our stay at the Best Western Southwest hotel in Lakewood, CO has been very pleasant. We flew into DEN late Wed. night and arrived to the hotel at 12am. The ladies who helped us check-in were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was tasty with a lot of options such as eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, waffles, etc... Additionally, checkout is at 12 noon, which is great for those who like to sleep in. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the bed is slightly lumpy/too soft for my liking. Overall, clean and well maintained inside and out by friendly staff.

« Wonderful suite of rooms »

Searched multiple hotels and the Best Western was the nicest hotel that was closest to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The hotel was near a major highway as well as convenient to many nice restaurants and downtown. Suite of rooms gave us room to each have our space with a TV while enjoying a vacation together.

    « Visiting Family »

Appears to be a very popular destination from the crowded parking lot and packed breakfast room. I would have hopped for reliable internet service in order to do business. TV was an issue but not vital at least for us. We were visiting family and spent little time in the motel, but the pool looked fantastic. The location seemed ideal for many destinations and driving through. Staff was friendly and attentive. The focus appeared to be dinosaurs Quite frankly we did not have time for talks, displays, or visits. It seemed worth investigation. Comfy beds and pillows. Clean with plenty of towels. Breakfast room could be bigger. They tended to run out of things.

« Great stay on CO. »

We completely enjoyed our stay at the Lakewood Best Western. The staff was warm and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. It's conveniently located for eating establishments and to the freeway. Kids would be fascinated with the dinosour theme. We would definitely stop here again.

    « A Good Stay »

Spent four days here for a family wedding. Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, housekeeping. Convenient to highway, many local restaurants and strip malls, 15 minutes to Red Rock Amphitheater (worth an excursion). Bathroom quite small, shower temperature difficult to adjust to desired temperature. Good inter-room sound insulation. If you or your kid are into dinosaurs, there are many fossils on display and various murals in stairwells. Two story, no elevator. Didn't use, but pool and jacuzzi looked clean and inviting. Nice patio seating beside. Sand box for kids in shaded location near main entrance.

« Have to love a place with no issues! »

We did not have one issue with this hotel. We stayed for three nights. The breakfast area was beautifully done, lots of food to choose from and is being constantly restocked by staff. The housekeepers were friendly, the front desk was friendly and one staff member where the morning coffee was - she helped us with sights to see and with brochures. They all made traveling very easy and comfy. I LOVED all the dinosaurs everywhere. Beautifully decorated dinosaur theme. Just note that there's no elevator, so if you can't do stairs, ask for a first floor room.

    « Best Western South »

This motel was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and answered all questions quickly. Breakfast had a good selection of choices. We enjoyed our stay. I would stay at this motel again in the future. The price was reasonable, bed was comfortable and couldn't ask for better staff. Very polite and helpful.

    « Great place »

We had a 2 night stay. Bed was comfortable, room clean, shower was great, breakfast was good, pool and hot tub were excellent!! We will definitely stay here again. The dinosaurs were cool too. Our grandchild will love that in a couple years.

    « Not bad. »

Stayed here for 2 nights for red rocks. The hotel has been updated and is dinosaur themed which is pretty cool. We got a king bed which came with a microwave and fridge which is definitely a plus. The bed was actually really comfortable and we got great rest both nights. The bathroom is pretty small but is manageable, also check out is noon! That was a little nice surprise because most are either 10 or 11 am. So having that extra hour to sleep or pack was nice especially after a crazy night at RRX. Plus the breakfast is not too bad either, you can even get freshly made omelette!

« First night in USA from Uk »

Had booked in advance and was glad that we had, left Heathrow late and bad weather had closed Denver airfield making us very late on landing. Very helpful (Matt) on arrival, comfortable bed, clean, acceptable breakfast only minus, outdoor pool didn't open until 10a.m. and we were on our way then.

    « Great Hotel »

Great Hotel for the price! It was recently remodeled and has a dinosaur theme which is pretty cool. Nice staff. C-Store, Decent Breakfast. Our room was not ready at 3pm when we tried to check in but it turned out okay.

    « best stay »

Excellent hotel, fun for children. They service the whole family, very educational, very clean and taken care of. The whole staff did everything they could to make our stay the best Hotel in the Denver area, we had come from another Hotel where our problems were not taken care of, they told us how to take care of their room.

« Great place for all! »

Wonderful place - seemed brand new - everything was clean and beautiful - the dinosaur fossil theme went with our trip as we came up to Denver for the museum. My kid loved the place and it seemed quite fancy for the price. The service was also fantastic. And there was a bar next to the beautiful brown stone swimming pool. We didnt have a pet - but apparently pets were welcome at the hotel - I thought that was a nice feature for traveling guests. Wonderful place for all ages! Oh - and check out is 12pm - I thought that was neat. Gave us extra time to sleep in and play in pool and enjoy their lovely breakfast.

    4
    « Great staff! »

Actually everything about the place was nice. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. We stayed initially due to the dinosaur theme but overall I was glad we stayed there. The location was good for what we needed to be near and the rooms we had were overlooking the pool and very adequate. We did not have the included breakfast the next morning but did jump in the pool in the evening which was also very nice. Parking was ample and convenient to the room. I didn't see an elevator at the corner where our rooms were which was fine for us but if you can't manage steps you should inquire before staying here. The rooms, lobby and other common areas were clean and the beds were comfortable so we all got a much needed good night's sleep. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

    « Very Nice Experience »

Great atmosphere , very nice and helpful staff. Room was clean and spacious. Other than the mattress being too soft,no complaints. Fortunately for us it was located next to a Midas Muffler. We developed a problem with one of our tires so we didn't have to look far to get it taken care of. Also, close to a number of good restaurants.

    5
    « A great place to stay! »

I've stayed here once a year for several days each trip. This is my Denver "home away from home" when I go to see my son. The people are great, very friendly and professional. The location is excellent for close by shopping and dining out.

    5
« A bit hidden but worth the stay! »

A bit hidden behind a gas station and in a surburban areea but near a highway and with lots of space for parking, this hotel is a great choice for families. Great swimming area and welcome lobby, breakfast is plentyful with easy access to a variety of eatiing businesses and shopping areas in the near vicinity, whether by foot or driving.

    4
« Decent place to stay »

We really enjoyed staying here. It was quiet, clean and all around nice place to stay. I booked three rooms for my family. The friendly staff arranged for us to all be next door to each other. The continental breakfast was a big plus since there were nine of us. Plenty of food and the sausage gravy and biscuits was to die for. The only down side for this motel was the lack of an evelator.

    5
« Great motel and interesting decor »

This is farther from downtown Denver then we planned but it was a very nice motel. I really enjoyed the dinosaur and fossil theme. I imaging this would be very interesting for small children as well. The staff was very pleasant and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, the usual assortment of food options, and the outdoor seating near the pool had a good view.

    4
    « I had a good experience »

I was a bit concerned at first because the location concerned me. Sort of behind a gas station and auto parts store. Inside, the property is very nice and looks just like the company photos. Very clean and had one of the best breakfasts around even if they did set it up awkwardly. We didn't stay there because of the things--or lack of things-- nearby so that wasn't an issue for us. The pool was out of order while there and that was bad luck because a dip would have been nice. I would go there again.

    « SO-SO »

Room not ready at 3 pm--they where suppose to call when ready. 5 hours later I called to check--yes it was ready they forgot to call. When finally did check in they seemed to not care or show any concern about not letting me know that room was ready

« Reasonable Hotel to Consider »

I chose this hotel because of brand as well as the size/style of the outside pool. Many properties in the area have very small or no outside pools. Also, the offer of a full hot breakfast incl. in the price was attractive. Here for 4 days & each morning was a zoo in the breakfast area due to limited seating. Eggs not cooked properly every day. Overall breakfast offerings vs. other brands was disappointing...but better than nothing. Rooms were clean with good beds...but the pillows were not very good. Pool was clean but way too warm...not refreshing at all...only slightly cooler than the hot tub. Location was convenient for my purposes on the SW side of Denver.

    « Hire More Staff!!! »

This is a very clean, attractive hotel with a unique dinosaur theme and many authentic dinosaur artifacts on display. The beds are comfortable, the rooms small but clean. The food is tasty and fresh, and well stocked each morning. The lounge offered good food at a reasonable price, with a live jazz band on Wed. night. However, much of the staff does not speak English and could not answer my questions. There do not seem to be enough staff members around to perform all that needs to be done, especially at breakfast time. The outdoor pool area is gorgeous, with a nice whirlpool and handicapped access. NO elevators, so ask for the first floor, unless you love carrying your bags upstairs!

    4
« Clean, Quiet, and Great Location »

Stayed for five days while visiting family.... Nothing but good things to say about this place. Room was as pictured and very clean. Staff was friendly and the price was right. It was a good central location to get everywhere I needed to be. Would stay again for sure.

    5
    « nice stop »

love the dinosaur motif of the remodel. still kept up nicely. west side of Denver, so less traffic, easy to mountains. good breakfast selection and always hot decaf coffee available. all staff always friendly and helpful

« August Best Western Denver, CO »

Stayed at the Best Western Denver Southwest, Lakewood, CO to visit family. Nice hotel, very clean, newly remodeled, great pool and free breakfast that was really good! We stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago before the remodel and were thinking of trying a different place. Glad we gave them a second try.

    5
« Great Location, Great Value »

My husband and I were looking for a hotel with a couch/sofabed so that we had a place to relax after sightseeing and attending a conference. The spaciousness of this room was fabulous. The couch and chair were comfortable and the bed was too. My husband loved the dinosaur artifacts.

    5
    « Friendly, Quiet, Dinosaur-themed BW »

When we first checked in on August 3rd, we went upstairs and turned on the A/C and went to have dinner nearby to give the room a chance to cool down because it was a little warm. When we got back the room had not cooled down yet and felt humid. We went to the front desk and asked if we could switch rooms (we had not yet unpacked or touched any of the contents in the room) due to the humidity, and as it turned out all of the rooms were taken. Which is always sad to hear that you missed your window by a potential few minutes. But, Matt who was the employee who was helping us was very polite and informed us that he would have someone from maintenance check it out at 11:00 am the next day and that meanwhile he could give us a fan to help for the night and he also offered to give us extra points for the inconvenience of the room. My boyfriend and I are not unreasonable people and we understand that rooms fill up and that it was not anyone's fault, so we thanked him for the fan and the extra points and went about our business. The next day, the technician showed up around 1pm, but with a large hotel and so many rooms to care for, it was not problem. He ended up replacing the A/C since it was an older model (I believe) and the room felt much better, still had a humid feel to it, but at least it was cooler. We appreciate that Matt kept his word and gave us those extra points and we just appreciate him treating us with respect and being creative when it came to alternative solutions. Overall, all the people we encountered in the hotel were amazingly sweet and just nice people, which in a service industry I give them major thumbs up because I know it can be quite difficult sometimes with rude guests. Also, the theme of the dinosaurs is fantastic. It is just so neat! The lobby is even neater than the picture shows it to be. I even got to spend some time with a really sweet and intelligent lady who gave me a rundown of some fossils and how they got to be. We had complimentary breakfast the 4 days we stayed and my boyfriend now wants a waffle maker :) and coffee available out in the lobby when you need it. Thanks Best Western! There is a reason that no matter where we go when we travel, we choose BW, so far out of the 3 times we've traveled we've visited BW and they have consistent with quality, so I am looking forward to future trips!

    5
    « Great hidden gem »

Very clean and cool. The decor is all fossils. The kids love the hotel. You can't go wrong here. I am a very picky customer and will be back. It is my new go to hotel in Lakewood. The only bad thing was that they got my room reservation wrong. They tried really hard to make it correct.

    2
« Not good, not bad. »

For $130 a night I would expect a nicer property in a nicer neighborhood. The room was more like a $50 a night property. The front desk was OK but a little frantic. The fire alarms went off twice... Not a class act.

    2
    « Tough »

On a 2 night stay, I notified the day manager that my bed was awful and aggravating my herniated discs. I requested a different room in the morning. The desk personnel told me all the mattresses were all the same. The manager said they were fully booked. It seems to me that a switch of rooms should have been a simple matter, since it was early in the day. I don't like being told, I'm SOL. I doubt I will be looking for a BW in the future.

« Nice hotel, friendly staff, not so good internet »

This hotel itself is pleasant, though a bit hard to see when you pull off the highway since the signage is minimal and blocked by trees. Front desk staff are friendly and efficient though very busy (at least when I checked in). There is no elevator so if you can't do steps let them know. The 2nd floor room had a screened window and it opened, which I appreciated since the air at night was very pleasant. The internet signal is not good - I was able to get online mid-day but not in the morning or evening. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast room a bit small but there were more tables in the lobby and outdoors.

    3
    « This motel is O.K. »

My room is on the second floor. I needed assistance since there wasn't an elevator, however the front desk was indifferent when I informed them I needed help. My room was on the side of the pool and it was very noisy well into the night. The shower door did not work; I informed the front desk however they did not seem concerned. The breakfast was O.K. - the bagel I had one morning was stale - I informed the staff, however they were indifferent and didn't offer a fresh one.

    5
« I had dreamed of staying here for years... »

I was not disappointed. So many dinosaurs! And 3 pokestops within feet of the room. The room itself is an average Best Western, but the overall experience from the lobby, breakfast, layout, and employees is top-notch.

    4
« Great place to stay »

I was surprised to find so many dinosaur artifacts all around this hotel. They had a very knowledgeable person from the Natural History Museum on hand to give information about all the artifacts on loan from the Museum. Huge skulls, giant femur bones, teeth, etc. Great place for young preteens who are into dinosaurs, but the parents seemed to enjoy it just as much. Hotel was very clean, staff friendly. The restaurant, aptly named Paleo Joe's, was good for the free breakfast, and for lunch, but I found it a little lacking for dinner. The menu seemed geared more towards lunch; pizza, sandwiches, etc. I would definitely stay again.

    3
« Don't ask them to fix something but good otherwise. »

My MIL has some breathing issues. We realized 2 hours after checking in (had a quick dip in the pool first thing) that the AC was not working. There was no manager on duty, the young guy behind the counter just kept saying "well that's not good but I can't do anything cause maintenance went home for the day as did housekeeping so no one could clean the room if I move them" with a couldn't care less attitude. Finally got him to call the manager who just told us it was hot at her house too so she understood. Ummm, when you don't use AC at your OWN home that is a choice, when you pay over $150/night for a room with AC and it doesn't work you call Maintenance BACK IN! She advised they "open the windows while they slept" in a strange city with a minor in the room!!! It was hotter in their room than in the hall. Plus asked for a wake up call for 7AM since my husband was graduating in the AM and had to be there at 830AM...luckily we woke up on our own at 630AM cause the call NEVER came. Their solution was to offer 2000 reward points...NOT SATISFIED at all!! Besides that crap the hotel is nice and clean, and the REST of the staff is great.

    3
« The Worse Best Western I Have Stayed At »

I arrived at the hotel and asked the front desk person about the potential to check out a little later, the next day. She was very rude and said there was no way. Then when we got to our room, the key did not work. I had to go back to the front desk and wait for her to let us in, but she could not make a key, so we had to wait for them to bring us a new key before we could leave the room. The air conditioner did not work properly, and the room smelled of cigarettes. we did let the front desk know about the smell, and they just said okay. The room was clean and the pool and breakfast were nice, but the staff was not as friendly as the staff at the other Best Westerns I have stayed at.

    4
« Nice Hotel except for Smoke Odor »

I would have given the hotel an excellent if it wasn't for the smoke smell in the room. Prior occupants obviously smoked in the room. I hope they are charged the $300 because it took several days for the odor to improve with spraying deodorizer.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

My family and I have used this hotel several times when we are in the area. The staff are always friendly and the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. They have a nice breakfast area. The hotel location is convenient to stores and restaurants. Easy access to day trips out of the city from this location.

    5
« Very clean and nice facility. Charming 'small' two stories facility. »

I had a great experience spending the night at this BW facility. Very clean, staff very nice and attentive. Somehow little busy, I guess because some people like me were attending concerts at Red Rocks. Really enjoyed staying there.

    5
« Suited our needs perfectly »

My family & I stayed 2 nights here. I like Best Western because many of them have excellent free breakfast. This location offered that, and it was done very well. Coffee, make-you-own waffles, sausage, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, toast, juice. Large selection and enough food & space for all, even on a Friday morning. Our room was nice & clean, it did not smell weird, everything was in working order and the AC was cold. The dinosaur theme here is cute, but that was not our interest. It would be great for younger kids & it did help me feel certain the motel would have a family atmosphere. Location was very convenient to get to Red Rocks as well as downtown Denver. Wifi & tv were good. We did not use the pool, but it looked pretty small. Only thing I would have liked was a bit lower on the price. It wasn't outside of market value, but a little higher than seems necessary. Would stay here again, and do recommend, especially for families.

« Fun Best Western - Dinosaur theme »

This is a comfortable property with a lot of personality. Interesting fossils and fossil castings, as well as murals and a thoughtful design for the pool reflect the dinosaur history of the area. The staff is knowledgeable and upbeat.

    2
« Far far far away from everything... »

First, it is far far far away from downtown.... even farther from the airport. So, if you are really desperate, it could be a solution.... but think twice. Let me try to paint the picture here: the hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, behind a Midas AutoRepair -not joking here.. There is absolutely nothing around; no restaurant, no bar, no grocery store... but you can find a good selection of chips, chocolate bar and sodas at the gas station across the street... The view from your room is probably either a parking lot or a parking lot. The hotel is decorated with dinosaur artifacts, bones and sculpture for whatever reason. Check-in staff seems completely disinterested about us; the service was completely impersonal. We asked for a cart to bring our luggage and the employee told us we should find one somewhere in the hotel... The A/C of my room was old, very noisy and inefficient. The "all-inclusive breakfast is a joke at best: tasteless scramble eggs, greasy sausages, biscuits, gross jams and toast. A handful of fresh fruit and hot beverage they likely called coffee, but the taste was more closed to old socks juice.

    5
« Great Price and Great Hotel »

We were looking for a reasonable rate and what we got here was great. The rooms are huge. We enjoyed the dinosaur theme though out the hotel. Nice restaurant on site and great pool and pool area. Would stay here again.

    5
    « mile high visit »

We had great stay in denver. The room was quiet even with a great swimming pool out the window enclosed courtyard. We had easy access to high ways and great restruants around. the desk most helpful they are fans of the Dinosaurs ,and many artifacts and student lecturer on weekends

« Made my family, all 13 of them, welcome »

We came in from NM, NY, CO and Fl. Arriving in the middle of the night sometimes, with babies. From 3 years old to 85 years old and a variety in between. Breakfast was great, relaxing patio atmosphere and gorgeous pool and hot tub. Dinosaurs staff very knowledgeable and entertaining for the kids. We came in for a wedding, downtown Denver. Great 20 minute drive to escape the throng and congestion of the city. Many nearby options.

    3
    « Nice hotel but A/C didn't work »

It is a nice hotel with clean comfortable rooms. Our A/C didn't work and it took a lot of time and effort to get anything resolved (which didn't happen until after we checked out). The only employee I would give a positive rating is the guest services manager.

« If I wanted to live in a place that smelled of dog I would have booked a room in a kennel. »

My room stinks of dog. This is a pet friendly hotel and the rooms stink of dog. It is disgusting. I will never stay here again ever. If anyone is allergic to dog dander as I am they will have serious problems in this hotel. The breakfast was pretty good. I will say that is a positive.

« Dinosaur lover? Got a grand kid with you? Love murals? Like comfort, too? GO HERE! »

Again, another 'one night stay' in a long line of Best Westerns. Still,my continuous comment: hate those coffeepots! However this is a wonderful place to stay! Our room was comfy, cozy, very clean. Very small bathroom but there are just 2 of us and just overnight so no big deal. Really great concept with the dinosaurs, real and not so real, in glass cases, embedded in the walls! Totally beautiful mural painted at the end of the building. Some great talent at work there in concept and follow through! Great employee/dinosaur 'interpreter' totally enchanting the children at breakfast. There is a working kitchen here, we just had to get going so could not stay to test the food. This hotel is obviously undergoing a more 'drought tolerant', and 'dinosaur-friendly' landscape renovation and I am pretty sure it will look fabulous when complete! Given the opportunity we would go back here again!

    « Classy Decor »

This Best Western currently has a dinosaur theme and it is classy, not cheeky. I do not think the decor makes a hotel, but I was a tad worried about the aesthetics the place might have. The breakfast is wonderful. If you leave hungry, that is on you, not the hotel. We stayed in a two-queen room and we were comfortable. I am not sure if they were true queen size beds, but my husband and I had enough room to sleep comfortably. The staff was very friendly. We were so busy, we did not have an opportunity to use the pool and hot tub, but it looked like it could be fun. I would highly recommend this hotel, whether you are looking to visit downtown Denver or the mountains, this hotel is within easy access to both.

« Great Place To Stop With Family »

We stopped for a night here on our way to Aspen. The place is actually set back from the main street by a block so it was very quiet. The hotel has a dinosaur theme and there are real artifacts on loan from the Morrison Museum of Natural History. The countertop of the service desk is quite interesting as it contains fossils embedded in polished granite from Chile. Apparently there is someone there in the morning regularly to talk about the fossil finds and casts that are on display, although the morning we were there the person was absent unfortunately the person didn't come. There is a promotion offered for the kids to sign up for a type of "kids club" that Best Western is doing for the summer. Everything was clean and inviting. There is a lovely pool area off the dining room, which at night has a little bar open serving themed (alcoholic) drinks. Out in front there is a sand pit where little ones can pretend they are on an archaeological dig. Right across the street there is a little shopping plaza and plenty of restaurants -we ate at a Red Robin. There are supermarkets quite close also and it's an easy couple of blocks off the interstate. The beds were very comfortable and there is a little fridge and coffee maker in the room. The lobby has coffee 24/7. The breakfast in the morning was also outstanding. Waffles with all the trimmings, eggs (fresh, not powder), sausage, biscuits and gravy, plus juices, yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, cereals, little danish/muffins. You could eat out by the pool in the morning, read the newspapers available, or watch the news inside. This is a pet-friendly motel so you may want to ask for a pet-free room if you have allergies. The bathroom was a little weird as we had a shower and stool in the one very tiny room, you actually had to kinda twist yourself to be able to get in the door and close it, but the shower itself was large. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I booked directly on-line with Best Western and there are different rates depending on whether or not you have AAA or AARP for example, so heads up be careful to read the correct rate. I joined the Best Westerns Reward program so when we checked in I got to spin a little prize wheel and got an additional $10 off for the night. If you need to stop for a night or two and have kids and your dog, this is a great choice. Moderately priced, excellence amenities, clean, and good things close by. They were booked completely the night we stopped so I would advise making your reservation ahead of time!

« Best Kept Secret Motel »

We found the motel to be very clean, inviting, bright, and well maintained. Our room was quiet, air conditioner worked well and one of the quietest we've ever encountered. Though we didn't use the fridge or microwave, we were pleasantly surprised how large both were and the wonderful countertop that was tall enough to prepare a light meal was awesome! The beds were comfortable, the bedding was soft and good quality, loved the choice of firmness in the pillows, the towels were plush and absorbed water. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this motel. The staff was very friendly, always saw a smile on their faces, and this was from the laundry staff down the hallway from our room, the maintenance men outside who were doing updates on the grounds, to the front staff and breakfast crew in the morning. A+++ rating!

    « Nice amenities for a BW »

For a Best Western it was nice. There is an omelet bar, restaurant, nice pool and cool dinosaur theme. The rooms are decent but the bed I had was horrible. The mattress was very thin and hard and it was just not comfortable. Hopefully they will invest some money in new beds because it has more to offer than most BWs.

« Best price in the area »

Great price compared to other hotels in the immediate area. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Although they always cleaned late in the day. Front counter was understaffed on a Saturday check in. Line out the door for several hours. Could not get into my room until after 5:30 in the evening. The free breakfast was very nice and included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast rolls, waffles, coffee, juices, milk and dry cereals. Will definately use this hotel again when in the area. Easy access to major roads in the area.

    « Love this place »

Rooms are not fancy but provide all you need. The dinosaur theme is awesome, interesting and such a nice change from typical "chain" hotels. The staff is professional and breakfast much better then the typical. The pool is the crowning glory for a family with an extremely busy 5-year-old. It made a necessary stay like a mini vacation. The hotel was in the middle of a big construction project or I probably would have rated a few items higher. Sure it will be lovely.

    « satisfactory »

Main issue is that air conditioner didn't put out cool air in the room. When I told the front desk about it, he said we've had issues with that - they're old units. He couldn't put us in another room because they were fully booked and he would have to go up to our room and inspect it and he had already been away from the front desk. He said he would have it looked at the next day. Maintenance did work on it the next day and improved it somewhat but didn't get it operating like it should. We had also asked for a fan to get us through the first night but the front desk guy said they didn't have any. When we checked in, we asked for joining rooms and the same front desk guy said they didn't have joining rooms but yet when we got to the rooms, they were adjoining - apparently, he didn't know the motel had adjoining rooms. The front desk guy was polite but wasn't friendly nor did he smile. There is no elevator for the second floor rooms. Very nice pool for kids. Extensive breakfast selection. Very clean room. Good price.

    « Good stay »

One night stay on our road trip. Clean and comfortable. I wish they had the standard pillows but the bed was good. Staff was very helpful and kind. They have a bar/restaurant on site but they also have a lot of places that deliver to the hotel, so we did that. We had our dog with us and the hotel was pet friendly. Standard breakfast that you see at all hotels. Was happy with our stay.

Stay was OK and the hotel was booked. Staff was rather overworked but they were quite friendly, except for one of them. They have a fairly good in house restaurant, Palleo Joe's, which was rather good both in service as well as the food.

The dinosaur theme of the hotel was enhanced by a morning presentation by a paleontologist in the lobby. She is personable, well informed and communicates well. She had specimens, both actual and copies, to use in her presentation.

The room was clean. The king-size bed was comfortable. The breakfast as good or better than most along these lines. It is not a 5 star hotel, but for the price paid per night, it was a good value, and I will stay there again.

Most comfortable hotel bed we've had is a very long time; definitely the best free breakfast we've ever had. Internet was slow and terribly spotty, but that alone would not alter any of my overall opinions.

    « Brand new renovations »

We arrived on the day before the new outdoor pool was opening, which was awesome since in was 95* outside. The front desk clerks were friendly and eager to please. The room itself was standard and the air did not seem to be working to its fullest capacity. The furniture and fixtures are all brand new and they seemed to have replaced pretty much everything in the hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable. There was a microwave and mini fridge in the room as well. I like the giant marble topped dresser, as it gave me plenty of room to sort out our luggage and other things. Like all the other Best Westerns they serve free breakfast from 6:30 am - 9:30 am which has the usual waffle makers, eggs, breads, danish, yogurt, cereal, etc. The room is small but it also doubles as a bar/cafe in the evening. They offer a couple sandwich options for purchase in the bar at night. There is plenty of parking and the overall decor and dinosaur theme is pretty cool, especially if you have kids interested in learning a little history. There is a convenience gas station right in front of the hotel. There are several bars and restaurants within walking distance as well. There is a beautiful new outdoor mall about 5 miles north of the hotel with Nordstrom Rack, a huge Target, Guess, Charlotte Russe, and several other stores for shopping. Other than shopping, not much to do in this town unless you plan for a bit of a drive.

We visited Denver for Family reunion which we had a lot fun but too bad we choose wrong hotel, very sad. Hotel staffs are terrible (especially front desk) and they treat customer differently. I've lived this country for over 30years and never experience this kind of insult. Our room was never been cleaned and when we ask for clean towel no apology from staffs and they are just smiling among with them. I felt like they purposely didn't clean the room. I don't travel much but I can say this hotel is not for Asian.

We were in Denver to attend a 50th anniversary party. We chose this hotel for the location and the price - almost half of those in the area. We were extremely pleased with the appearance of the property. During our stay, every employee we encountered was professional, friendly, and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable - tiny bathroom, but served its purpose. We had an inside first floor room - we never heard anyone above us, next to us or in the hallways and the hotel was full. the pool was being refilled when we arrived, but in use by our 2nd day - very nice pool area and the water was warm! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Denver south area. Great breakfast - staff kept it replenished and cleaned up throughout the breakfast times. The restaurant had a nice variety of quick meals which was great when we didn't want to go out after the long day.

the last time I stayed at this hotel was a nightmare, this time was an improvement. It was quiet even though there was a party going on in the parking lot. It was cleaner, with the exception of the drinking ware. Staff was nicer and more knowledgeable even though she was a new hire and answered the phone when it rang, unlike the last time I stayed.

The pool and hot tub were only open our first 2 days with limited hours. The hot tub was broken and cold, but the staff did not tell us the issue untill the second day. The pool was closed the rest of our visit. The parking lot was being fixed and it was difficult to find parking. The breakfast was not always stocked, but when it was it was good. The room temperature was strange and it would be freezing one minute and hot the next. Overall the place looks nice, but the neighborhood is not the best. It was not a horrible hotel to stay in, but we wanted a hotel with a pool and hot tub. I would have stayed somewhere else if we knew it was going to be closed.

    « Jurrasic Attraction »

We stayed in Room 215, with two queen beds, over the Memorial Day weekend for $389.77 (with AAA rate). I booked this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews that highlighted the dinosaur-theme of the property. This appears to be a little older property and you will be toting your luggage up and down stairs. If there is an elevator, I did not find it. The staff was friendly and helpful during our visit. The property look nice upon arrival. I had no concerns about safety or the security of our vehicle. The room was clean. The air conditioning unit is very loud when in the FAN mode. There is a 42? flat screen TV mounted on the wall, but again, the fan forces the user to turn up the volume to hear the TV. The shower pressure was a little weak. TIP: Try to get a room away from the various stair cases. The stairs are creaky and loud. They could be noisy enough to disturb you?especially if my granddaughters are running up the stairs in flip flops. The biggest complaint that I have with breakfast is that the hot items are sitting too high. I am above 6 foot tall and did not have ease in getting food. The set-up for hot foods is dangerous to children and those that are vertically-challenged. I used the fitness center and found it adequate. The kids loved the heated swimming pool that is outdoors. The pool appeared to be well-maintained and was able to facilitate a lot of guests. Upon checking out the menu for Paleo Joe's, we really didn't consider it a viable option for a meal. TIP: A paleontologist is in the lobby on Saturday and Sunday mornings with some artifacts and fossils. This is educational for the children. TIP: You can walk across Vance Street, through the car wash, and to a convenience store to get snacks and drinks. TIP: You can find many places to eat if you travel a couple of miles north on Wadsworth.

« Front Desk staff not willing to go the extra mile. »

After check in, I entered my room and immediately noticed it was a handicap room on the first floor. I went right back to the front desk and asked if I could change my room to a non-handicap room and also that it be on the 2nd floor, since I was concerned for my safety on the first floor (travelling alone, female). He told me no, that I booked through a third party. Again, I reiterated that I was concerned for my safety being on the first floor. He just said there was nothing he could do. I said, "yes, you could do something" and under my breath said "...if you wanted to". Seeing that it was only 2:30pm, perhaps someone else checking in after me may have wanted that room, who didn't want to climb stairs to the 2nd floor (no elevator). I ended up staying in that room, but would've liked the young man at the front desk to say, "let me ask my manager to see if there isn't something we can do." That's all. At least "try". Twice he told me that there was nothing he could do, since I booked through a third party. So FYI, if you choose this hotel, please know that if you book through a third party, you will get the undesirable rooms. i.e.. first floor, handicap and there is nothing the front desk will do about it.

We were in Denver for one night for a baseball tournament. This was a nice property and the dinosaur theme was interesting. The room was exactly what we expected and the breakfast was better than most. Upon check in, I signed up for the BW program, I was allowed to spin the wheel for prizes and won a free drink at their lounge. The man checking me in even gave me one for my husband. I went to Paleo Joe's, which overlooked the outdoor pool which looked better than most places, but we did not use it, which was probably for the best since it jam packed full of kids and teens. I ordered from Paleo Pete's rather limited menu, but the food and drinks were good. I only had two problems with our stay and the property. 1. There is only one ice machine for guest use and it is on the first floor and there is no elevator on the property. Not great for those of us which bad knees. 2. At Paleo Joe's, the cook was playing really loud heavy metal music which was off putting. Another customer asked her to turn it down, which she did, but really, I'm not sure she should have been playing it in the first place. It may be better to play something more generic and certainly at a lower volume. Otherwise, it was a nice stay and I would come again.

While visiting Denver for three and a half weeks with work I was lucky enough to have stayed in the Best Western Southwest in Lakewood. I can honestly say that the hotel amenities where excellent. Rooms are comfortable and well equip with everything one may need for their stay. It is close to downtown Denver and has all local needs nearby. The desk staff have always been friendly and the whole work ethos of those I've meet have been on-par with "higher-end" hotels in which I have previously stayed at. The restaurant staff in the morning particularly stand out in mind for excellent customer service and Martina in particular made my stay an amazing one. We stayed at this hotel for two reasons - the heated outdoor pool and hot tub and proximity to our meeting place. The rooms are your standard hotel room with nothing fancy. The big draw was the pool - even though it was snowing out, the pool was a very comfortable bathtub temperature. It was great - for the first night. However, the second night something happened and the pool was very chilly - not sure why. This is a good hotel for a family who is traveling on a budget but doesn't want to totally cheap it. April 2016. On a recent business trip, I had the unlucky experience of being moved from my room and not being told. I arrived late on Tuesday the 26th, and checked into my room and confirmed booking for 3 nights. the following day, after attending my conference , I returned to the hotel and tried to enter my room only to return to the front desk and discover they moved me to another room, packing up all my "stuff" and returning it to the front desk. I decided to go to the restaurant and small bar located off the lobby and request a glass of wine to take back to my room, only to be told they do not permit drinks to leave the area. I realize they are not a 4 star hotel, but I doubt that I will ever recommend this hotel.

I was staying in Denver and usually choose Best WEestern as my preferred hotel provider. THi slocation was close enough to the places I wanted to see in the Mile High City. The owner is a palentologist and has that theme in all of the public areas of the hotel: fossils, murals and paintings of dinosuars and other prehistoric creatures. At breakfast, there is a student palentolgist who discusses fossils and palentology and the finds they've made in Colorado. A very knowledgable person who added to the hotel expereicne. My only problem was housekeeping. Perhpas it was an oversight but they did not make up my room, even after I told them I was leaving for several hoours. This was disconcerning but I trust it was only an oversight. Everything else with this property was top rate. My husband and I stayed for 6 nights while we were working in Lakewood. Can't say enough about the place. The decor was pretty cool and surely dinosaur fans will love it with it's many replicas and murals. The hotel itself is very up-to-date and well kept too. Happily, they really don't mess around with smokers, so don't even consider it unless you go outside. The beds are very comfortable and the shower was the best, along with nice towels. The breakfast was delicious. Eggs, waffles, sausage, yogurt, fruit, biscuits, etc. They kept the room very tidy and replenished the food often. We also liked the proximity to many restaurants and pubs (Rusty Bucket was a favorite.) The hotel itself also had a pub and restaurant. We also enjoyed the hot tub. The pool is also heated and there were many lounge chairs available. Office is available with numerous computers and a high speed printer. Staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Start with the dinosaur and fossil-themed lobby, which is just plain fun and a sure draw for the little ones. I'm not talking a few things stuck to the walls, either, but a lobby made over to look like some nineteenth-century gentleman naturalist's study. The bar, which has a giant replica mososaur skeleton sailing across the ceiling, has a couple of good local brews and even serves a little food (which, to be honest, left something to be desired). The best part, though, is the breakfast, because it is attended by a paleontologist from the nearby Morrison Natural History Museum, who brought some fossils to show and answered questions from the guests! If that doesn't delight you at least a little, I feel kinda bad for you. Anyway, it was a hit with my five-year-old son, with whom we traveled on our dinosaur tour of the West and it was certainly a hit with me. Only about 15 minutes from Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, as well. Well worth the stay!

    « Everything a family would need »

Hospitality is important to the staff here. Very friendly and helpful. The dinosaur fossils in the lobby are very interesting. The heated pool is so great for families traveling during the winter months. Very easy to get where you need to in Lakewood and Denver.

My best friend and I really enjoyed the heated outdoor pool on the cold Colorado night- it was perfect! The room was clean and stocked with common needs. The staff was friendly and inviting. Thank you for an awesome experience!

« VERY NICE, WILL STAY AGAIN »

This is a very nice hotel, convenient. We had stayed here before and after staying at other hotels, we will not stay anyplace else while in Denver. The full breakfast is great, and my kids LOVE the dinosaurs!!

    « Worthy of a Return Visit »

Stayed here last summer and loved it! This time after a week of skiing really enjoyed the year-round heated pool and hot tub. This hotel is super clean and has an awesome business center. The staff is very caring and helpful. Will continue to visit when in the area.

    « Poor Customer Service »

Had to use the hotel shovel to be able to plow the snow away from my car since it wasn't done. The parking lot was covered with snow. There should of been staff to help out instead of having the customer do it themselves. There has been another problem besides this one when I stayed a couple months back, never was resolved.

    « Excellent Stay »

Excellent value. Excellent breakfast, great amenities. We had a family group that had to gather in a short amount of time to attend a funeral and the hotel and staff did a great job of taking care of our whole group. Would definitely stay here again.

Huge room! Suite is like a small apartment. Living room with sleeper sofa, big bedroom, lots of storage. Very comfortable bed, room quiet. Clean. Soap, shampoo and lotion. I thought this place was a great value.

    « great place! »

This hotel has a very nice feel to it, and so many amenities for a good value. They had an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi that was avaliable during a snowy day/night - fun! They have a wide variety of breakfast items, a lovely breakfast room, and a beautiful lobby. The beds at Best Western are always very comfortable.

« Great Place to Stay »

This Best Western had great staff and an awesome decor. No problems at all. It was very easy to get to other areas in Denver from this location with ease. I would highly recommend staying here and plan to stay here again should the opportunity present itself.

    « EXCELLENT!! »

This hotel was perfect for us! Great price, pet friendly (and you'd never know it! No odors or wear and tear), great staff, great amenities. We enjoyed the hot tub. HIGHLY recommended! While we didn't use the dining services or free breakfast the restaurant looked great, and the menu looked good.

    « Friendly, helpful staff »

This was our first experience staying at Best Western. Very friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location, clean rooms and common areas. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh every day. We would recommend this hotel to family and friends and we would stay again should we come to the Denver area. in the future.

    « Peaceful »

The hotel was quiet, clean, courteous staff. I would highly recommend a stay here. The breakfast was hot and very tasty, typically I go elsewhere for my breakfast. The beds were comfortable but slightly soft for a hard bed sleeper, but was still comfortable. I am accustom to having a bath mat, this really nice big shower did not have one or any grab bars in the shower. I would be fearful of my 84 year old mother trying to wash her feet.. Scared me a little. But will still stay again.

« Great Decor in Lobby »

The location is a little odd as from the road you can hardly tell it is a hotel, but still well within 30 minutes from downtown. The most remarkable thing about the hotel is the dinosaur theme. The lobby made for a pleasant distraction for children (and adults)! Other than that, a good value stay.

    « Dinomite! »

I saw this place online, and as I am a huge dinosaur nerd, I booked a trip here for spring break. Boy, this was wonderful! The decorations are the BEST! They have tons of high-quality casts, paleoart murals, paleo-themed pictures on the wall, and even a paleontologist that visits in the morning to show off some of her collection of fossils! As just for a hotel, I'm also quite pleased. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is tasty. Internet is pretty reliable. Everything clean. Pool looks fun even if I didn't have time to jump in. Shower had adequate pressure. Very happy.

    « Very Good Hotel »

The room was clean and comfortable. Hot water was in short supply during the busy AM hours when most folks are getting ready to go. Very quite and peaceful. Very close to restaurants. Room was a bit small for moving around for several people. Very pet friendly.

« HOTEL CANCELLED MY RESERVATION »

I verified my reservation via email from BW before I left on my trip. When I get to the hotel at 1030 PM, after a long flight. I am told my reservation had been cancelled by the 800 system. I informed Ruby (by the way was great) that I used the internet not the 800 system. She said that no rooms were available. Now what I was thinking to myself, here I am no room and dead tired. Ruby came to the rescue and found a room at the old hotel Days Inn. Which by the way is in need of a upgrade. So, I find it ironic that I had put in a one star review because of the shuttle problems in Dec. and now this, kind of makes me think. Also I received a letter from the supervisor. I did not remember her name. The form letter stated that if I gave a good review I would be rewarded with additional hotel points. Like buying my review. Not good business practice. So clients beware, even if you have a printed out confirmation, the hotel may still not honor the reservation, thus stranding you. I will give this hotel one more chance to keep my business, but after 3 strikes. They will be out.

    « Interesting »

I took my young niece and nephew for a night of fun and swimming. The outdoor swimming pool is amazing, crystal clear and clean. The kids loved it. The room was super nice, very clean. The breakfast was good and the staff was fine. So what was the problem? The thin walls and mostly the shady looking characters hanging out in front of the hotel at 11 at night. I think they were friends of the front desk staff, or else why were they allowed to hang out and talk loudly for an hour? The sound is atrocious, the walls are so thin you can hear everything. We were on the bottom floor and we could hear people pounding and talking on the floor above us. Pounding feet going up and down the stairs at all hours. Then at 3am the residents above us came down and stood outside the entrance door that was next to our room and talked and laughed for an hour. It was so clear it was like they were in our room. No staff member came to tell them to be quiet. And there is no way the front desk could of not heard them. These people looked like crack addicts, I mean really bad looking characters. I was afraid to ask them to be quiet. In the morning the fire alarm goes off at 6:30 am. I read about this in other reviews and couldn't believe we had to go through it! We stood outside, hardly anyone else came out, I don't know how they stood it, as the noise of the alarm is ear piercing. It took awhile, we were told we could go back in, but the alarm kept going for 10 more minutes! While we were waiting outside, one of the questionable persons above our room walked by and absolutely reeked of pot, so I am pretty sure they set off the alarm. I loved the room and the pool and would like to take the kids again. But I don't know if the motel is in a bad area, or? I would tell people, if do you stay there, NEVER stay on the bottom floor and especially by an entrance door. You won't sleep a wink, and you won't feel very safe.

Great value, great beds, great cleaning, great and nice staff. We didn't use the pool, but it was heated... We went to Denver mostly to Ski and of course to enjoy the city by itself. The hotels in ski areas are pricier than Denver's.

    « Wow! »

The staff was quite caring, the facilities were very well maintained and the breakfast was varied and delicious! The location was very convenient to our needs and nicely accessible to major arteries. The motif of the public areas was dinosaurs, furnished by a local museum and was nicely presented.

Joy at the front desk is very accommodating and listened I would not stay at this Best Western again, Joy seemed to be the only benefit other than the lady paleontologist, she was knowledgeable and amenable

    « hard to find »

The front desk was great. I had to call for directions; it is not on the main path and I was aware of that but drove past it and the clerk got me back to it and I found it easily. Very helpful. It was not easy to find without the help of the desk. The room was clean, spacious, perfect. Nice TV, not too loud, hot water, great. I was very happy to this point. I went to the bar/restaurant. Very slim choices, but ok. I settled on a BLT, menu said toasted so ok. It was grilled with some disgusting grease on the bread. I was not given an option of returning it for the correct menu item nor refunded. The bartender certainly watched me disect the sandwich and eat every thing else except the bread after I complained. When I ordered a beer to go to my room I was told after the fact that I could not leave the bar with the beer. I was not happy with this end of the service and would easily have gone back out in the cold for a nice dinner and a six pack. Very disappointing. It was a Wednesday night so not busy and no excuses. The morning staff were again very helpful and because there is a dinosaur theme, I actually got a little education from one of the staff on the fossils and the types of ones in the hotel which was interesting and fun.

Helpful staff, nice rooms, nice restaurant and bar, and an amazing dinosaur fossils. Only complaint the number of electrical outlets available for the desk and to iron shirts. Only electrical outlets available were located on the lamps.

« Nice staff and good breakfast »

Nice to have a hot breakfast and OJ waiting for you every morning and beds and room made up at night. Had a problem with disrespectful kids slamming doors and talking and smoking (Colorado) outside our window till 2AM. Mngmt staff could have been more responsive, but hard to control, still ruined our last night there. Otherwise - great stay.

    « Hotel Employee Smoking »

Upon arriving at hotel ( hotel is hidden by other businesses ) my husband went to check in only to find a note on the desk stating that the attendant would be back in a few minutes, he came back to the car to inform me. There were 3 people standing out front of the hotel smoking and talking as we sat in the car discussing our plans for the next day, they finished there cigarettes and returned to the hotel to my surprise one of the people smoking was the front desk attendant ( not a good way to make a first impression) My suggestion would be if your employee needs a cigarette bad enough to ignore a paying customer then maybe she should not be on the front desk after all your hotel is 100% smoke free in all the rooms for guest maybe the attendant needs to smoke elsewhere or not at all while on duty or if here shift is 8 hours she should be given 2 ten minute breaks to enjoy her habit but not in front of the hotel a replacement attendant should be there.

« surprising, wonderful dinosaur displays »

This motel should be investigated by anyone with kids who enjoy dinosaurs (or by adults who did when they were growing up). The impressive lobby and environs have accurate reproductions of fossils, and I met an enthusiastic docent (who is a scheduled worker at the motel) who told me more than I ever knew about them. It may be worth a trip just for that experience. The hotel was also exceptionally clean and the staff was friendly and helpful at giving directions and information about the local area, too. It was certainly quiet when I was there, the price was reasonable, and it was only about 20 - 30 minutes from the Convention Center. I was impressed and would recommend it highly.

your fitness center had a broken treadmill and an archaic bike. the picture of the fitness center on-line was one of the reasons that I picked the hotel. a misrepresentation of what it actually was . the breakfast was exactly the same each day

    « NO Elevator! Beware »

This hotel was fine for our needs. The room was clean and so was the hotel itself. Check in was longer than I expected, but the staff seemed new. There was NO elevator and our rooms were on the second floor, and there was no bathtub to relax in. That was a bummer. I will choose differently next time. The price was fair for the area and we found lots of good restaurants around and easy on and off the freeways.

Nice renovated rooms! Clean hotel. The only concern it's the thickness of the wals, you can hear everything next door, and the gap of the door is kind of huge! Other than that is great small hotelon a good price.

    « Great stay »

One of my favorite moderately priced hotels I've stayed at and loved the fossils-but I'm an amateur paleo geek. Really good breakfast options in this type of a motel. Wish I'd had time to enjoy the pool but it was 20 degrees outside. There were people out there who seemed to be enjoying it.

    « Comfortable and convenient »

The hotel has been recently remodeled and the upgrades are very nice. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms spacious and quiet. The breakfast is included and items are varied and tasty. Lakewood is located at the edge of the foothills, just a few miles west of Denver.

« Very good hotel, clean, friendly staff »

We were looking for an alternative to a downtown Denver hotel on our way towards Aspen the next day. This hotel was perfect for us. It was convenient, clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The outside is a little dated, but the inside was just fine for us. The lobby is unique and interesting. We would stay here again.

I love the theme of the hotel. It gives those traveling with Children the chance to show them some history of the area. The food was also great. And the staff showed consideration for any physical ailments we might have.

« Review of the Best Western. »

Found this motel by accident. When I entered this motel, I was very impressed with the lobby. The decor was very tasteful. The motel is pet friendly and there is no pet charge.Greeted by a desk clerk that lacked personality. The room charge was very reasonable. The room was very light with tasteful decor, carpet was very clean. Our room only had a shower, but it was very large and clean. Room was quite and comfortable. Had a very good breakfast with a large selection. Would recommend this motel

    « Lakewood, CO stay »

We had a great experience staying at this hotel. We come to Lakewood, Co to visit my daughter and have always stayed elsewhere. This hotel had a great promotion so we tried it and were VERY happy. I am very critical of beds and the king bed we had was very comfortable. The breakfast meal was a full breakfast. The second floor was quiet. The bathroom was very clean with a lot of towels of good quality. That is my other issue for hotels having nice towels and very clean bathroom. I will come back to this hotel. Great experience and a great value.

« A really pleasant stay and convenient »

We live local, but we stayed here two nights while our house was being externally stained (fumes). This location is really convenient in this part of town (SW Denver) because it is right near Wadsworth and Rt. 285 with great access and there a variety of restaurants and stores nearby within walking distance. We once lived just down the street so we knew the area. Looked through the tripadvisor reviews and while many of the properties in this convenient location had somewhat mixed reviews we decided on the Best Western and we were not disappointed. We liked this property on several fronts. it is two floors (rooms are accessed internally) which wrap around in a large square with an outdoor pool and hot tub in the middle "courtyard" which makes it feel a little more private and secure. Unfortunately, I do not think this property has an elevator for guests who would need one. There are carded entryways on the building corners. It is an unassuming property set back one block or so from Wadsworth and next to a neighborhood. Parking is all around with a party fence separating the property from the surrounding neighborhood and the lighting at night was decent (a little dim in some spots). The one staff member we keep running into at the front desk, Jordan, was helpful on all accounts and friendly. He even was able to tell us the Broncos score when we came back from a day out and about. Other staff we encountered were likewise friendly. Check out time was noon which was a nice benefit. This property has some conference rooms, a small gym, laundry room, and a small bar which might have a happy hour (we did not partake). Breakfast had hot and cold foods, biscuits and gravy, waffle maker, etc. It is served in the same space as the bar. Since the hotel has an affiliation with the Morrison Museum there are some dinosaur bone displays off of the lobby and most mornings there is a representative there who can talk about the displays. The guest rooms even have framed drawings done by one of the paleontologists who worked in the area during the 19th century. Our room was on the 2nd floor (which we liked) with a single King bed which was clean and a comfortable sleep. Very clean room, pleasant décor, and most tables and surfaces had granite tops. Nice flat screen on the wall, microwave, small fridge. The nightstands were large which we liked! Sink was outside the bathroom which was nice. The bathroom did have an exhaust fan, but it was otherwise very cramped. Might be a bit uncomfortable for someone of a larger girth. Some slight wear on a couple wall corners and I think some black marks on the rug which looked like probably from the vacuum cleaner. No big deal. Very clean otherwise. Shower pressure and heat/ac were all fine. Didn't really use the wi-fi. There was a large chest of drawers with lots of room. A nice sitting chair area with a large side table. There was no closet, but more like a cubbyhole near the door with a hanging bar and hangers, ironing board, and iron. During the early evening one could hear the doors slamming as people came and went, but that died down as the evening progressed. I didn't add any photos since there are plenty here already which accurately depict the property and rooms. Overall we had a very, very pleasant stay and will definitely stay here again when the need arises to stay "in town" (we live in the Foothills).

    « Dino-Might Stay Again! »

We had an interesting 5 day stay at this hotel. First off the bedroom was a bit cramped with an over-sized dresser (room 141) and we did have some issues with the TV not working but Matt did an awesome job after plugging in many of the cords and messing about he had it up and running again in a short while. He is also the young man that checked us in. Very friendly with a nice smile! Jessie the maintenance man did adjust the drapes there were off the track and his assistant adjusted the toilet seat that was a bit shaky. He was also very friendly making it clear he was available if we needed anything. Housekeeping staff was also very friendly. Every day they had our beds made to perfection! Breakfast was just average although the Irish gal was very friendly. I was disapointed they didn't "switch" it up a bit each day as many hotels will swap out the biscuits and gravy to oatmeal but they only had instant oatmeal which I did miss receiving as a traveler. I love the way other hotels have fresh made oatmeal and bacon. This one served the same old thing every day. Scrambled eggs, sausages, sausage gravy, biscuits, make our own waffles, yogurt. cereal, oranges, bananas with juice and coffee. One very interesting part was every morning at the coffee area we were greeted by someone that loved to talk about Dinosaur information. They were very knowledgeable and highly educated to know their stuff for sure. The hotel has Dinosaur info throughout and I thought it was a bit like a self-guided walking tour. One special note that I loved was the very HOT water for taking nice baths. That was a rare find in the hotel work for me. We had perfect water pressure too. 5 star praise on the hot water! Yes we may stay again on our next visit if the rates are competitive. We do have family in the area and we do a lot of shopping so we will be returning again soon so hopefully they will have a good offer on the website.

« Perfect for out of town business »

The location of this hotel makes it suitable for people wanting to visit the south west part of Denver. Almost 90 minutes of traffic from the airport in peak hour is not ideal - but after that the stay was very pleasant. A nice bar and restaurant, comfortable suite with a seperate lounge - with its own AC unit was very nice. Spacious bathroom all made for an enjoyable stay. Being situated right next to an exit door was however an amateur mistake. The door opened and closed all night letting late night travellers in and out. I would request a door further away. An in house laundry was a nice surprise - just take your own quarters. Parking all around the hotel make it super convenient. Good access to shopping and the city are a plus. Clean comfortable room. It has a heated outdoor pool

« Could be nice, but fire alarms and internet along with terrible overnight staff make that impossible. »

3 fire alarms in 24 hours, one at 1:00AM, next night at 1:30 AM. Spotty internet at best, which is terrible if you need it for work! We had what the cleaning ladies said was a "tricky" door, it took at least 15-20 tries to get the door opened. The guys during the day were not very knowledgeable of the area but pleasant. The overnight lady was simply rude and did not care at all. She didn't even come outside when the fire alarms, or offer an apology for the "inconvenience".

We were in Denver on business and had our Service Dog with us. Greatly appreciated the acceptance of her. The room was excellent and service was top also. Breakfast was very good, other than the gravy had sausage in it and I am allergic to this meat. Would have been better if plain gravy had been an option for people that have problems with sausage. Also it was the only meat option. Other than that, the rest of meal was top line. The room was beyond what we expected.

Have stayed in a couple hotels around Denver, and this was by far the best experience yet. Near Morrison and Golden, CO and 20 mins from Downtown Denver, the Best Western is conveniently located near lots of fun attractions. From the moment I arrived, this property and amazing staff EXCEEDED my expectations! Everyone I met was EXTREMELY friendly, helpful, and customer-service oriented. The property is clean, quiet and safe. The free breakfast was AWESOME! Instead of staying in a hotel, I felt as though I was staying as a "cherished guest" in someone's home! I will DEFINITELY stay at this location again, and I will also recommend it to ALL my friends and family! Thank you Best Western Lakewood for helping to make my trip SO enjoyable!

« Good value for money »

We chose this hotel because of its location , as we came from the SW and after a tiring, long drive, we did not want to get stuck in the Denver, downtown traffic; therefore, some may consider its location a bit far from downtown Denver but its price and friendly personnel compensate widely for this minor inconvenience, on condition you have a car!

« Met expectations, courteous staff, better than normal breakfast fare. »

The one thing that impressed me the most was the front staff person who checked me in. I think his name was Matt. He was very efficient. When he checked me in, he placed me on the bottom floor. I asked him to change the room to the second floor, if possible. I advised him that I did not feel comfortable with a first floor room traveling alone. He accommodated me immediately. Then as he explained how to get to my room, he stated that there was no elevator. I said, okay. I would just have to make do and get the luggage up the stairs by myself. He then immediately offered to help me. Which was totally unexpected. When driving to this hotel, it is off the main street and you may think that you are in the wrong place. So, trust your navigation guide. Used MapQuest. The breakfast offerings were a bit more than the normal fare that I find in several hotels that offer breakfast. They offered waffles, eggs, and sausage. Wide arrangement of yogurt, cereal and pastries. The room was adequate. A little small for two queen beds, but for the price reasonable. The room was clean with no obnoxious odor of cleansers, etc. Good value. Fit expectations.

« The Land (or Hotel) That Time Forgot »

I arrived to check in late in the evening - the hotel is located behind a car wash and has a dinosaur in front (as well as murals on the walls). Needless to say, I was a little creeped out. The hotel has no elevator and a lobby chuck full of dinosaur artifacts. I was, however, delightfully surprised at how clean and quiet the hotel was. The staff was friendly, the breakfast great. It is a quirky place, for sure, but I would stay again!

    5
    « Dino-riffic! »

It's rare these days when a hotel offers a decorating scheme that elicits an instant WOW!, but this place certainly does. Some might consider their dedication to dinosaurs to be over-the-top, but for anyone who loves dinosaurs, or is traveling with kids who do, you don't want to stay anywhere else.

    « Great stay »

We booked this hotel solely by the reviews posted. We were not disappointed. We stayed 5 nights. The beds were excellent. The outdoor pool is heated and can be used even in October. Every morning we saw a maintenance man skimming and cleaning the pool and hot tub. The premises are maintained nicely. The breakfast selection was standard fare but the biscuits and gravy were very good. Walls are a little thin but if you don't have loud girls next door (only one night) then that isn't really a problem. Location is easy on and off to the highway. A great place to stay.

« Fun Stay Near Denver »

We so enjoyed this property for a lot of reasons. Easy access to Denver via the Light Rail, awesome employees like Matt, Jordan, and Paul and the many things to do nearby. Front desk experiences upon arrival mean a lot to guests travelling as much as we have this summer and we felt very valued by this team. Matt even upgraded us to a suite which was awesome!!! We had a great time in the area which by the way has a lot of wonderful things to see and experience...lovely museums, free downtown transportation, great food, plus natural beauty all around.

    « Everything I needed at a reasonable price. »

This hotel is located on a rather quiet street, so you don't get the highway noise of a lot of other nearby hotels. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Plenty of closet and drawer space. (It's a pet peeve of mine if I go to a hotel without a dresser or chest of drawers. C'mon I don't want to live out of my suitcase!! Only downside is sink and mirror are located in room and toilet and shower are in a teeny little closet. Location is also very convenient to dining, shopping, and easy access to highways. Decor is all dinosaurs which is pretty cool. They offer up a really god hot breakfast ... Real scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy (yum!), waffles, and the typical bagels, yogurt, fruit. Certainly enough to fill you up and start your day. There is also a little bar/grill but I didn't eat there. It was closed the night I planned to eat there even though it's advertised as being open daily. That was a bummer because I had no transportation to go anywhere else. Cheese and crackers to the rescue. Pool area is very nice, large hot tub, little outside dining/drink area. This is my place to stay next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend.

We liked the hotel. The décor was unique and interesting. They seemed to be understaffed at the front desk. Their internet was down for a while the first day of our stay but they got it back up. The coffee seems to be bad at every BW that we stay at in their breakfast area. The beds were very comfortable. It was in a convenient location once we figured out the area of Denver. I would stay there again if we are back in the area.
