    « Rockville 2015 & 2016 »

We've stayed here for the past two years for Rockville a two day rock festival held at metropolitan park. This hotel is about a 15min drive with quick and easy access from I-95, free parking, comfortable beds and a free hot buffet to start out our day was always nice. We have never used the pool but it always looks clean and well maintained.

    « Not worth 100$ a night »

My husband and I Decided to go to Jacksonville for my birthday. The room had no refrigerator and also smelt like dog piss, The phone was broken. None of the vending machines worked. They charged double price for a crappy room. I will never stay at this hotel again.

« Great Ending After a Long Day of Travel »

When we arrived at the hotel, handicap parking was available and convenient for unloading and loading. The reservations were as expected with the plus of receiving an end room on a quiet floor. The staff was very helpful in choosing a dinning location including clear directions. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The shower with plenty of hot water and good pressure was appreciated after being in the car all day. The breakfast options were plentiful and and were served at the appropriate temperatures. The staff were very polite and attentive which made us feel welcome. The location was convenient for us to continue or journey to Disney. We will continue to use and recommend this location as a stopover.

« Let Down When Vulnerable! »

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and have always been reasonably pleased. My current issue is with uncaring inflexible Management. I had a booking for Nov12, 2016 through an airmiles partner, unfortunately a sudden family crisis necessitated me delaying my trip date for two weeks, at 11 am that day I called my airmiles carrier who were very cooperative and attempted to modify my reservation unfortunately the hotel has a 24 hour cancellation policy which I can respect however I did not want to cancel just reschedule I called the hotel directly and the person at reception was extremely helpful and understanding but when he spoke to another party he came back sheepishly and apologized but stressed the 24 hour policy and stated they would not make any exceptions even for compassionate reasons. I find this unimaginative Management style very confusing, as I had given adequate notice for the room to be available for another guest (most comparable establishments require same day cancellation notification) however they chose to alienate a loyal customer and potentially his colleagues by refusing to simply modify dates, my airmiles have been taken and I received nothing in return. With current communication methods travelers frequent sites like this and negative comments can sway a potential guest, surely some simple flexibility and imagination could avoid needless negative feedback and potential loss of business? A very unhappy and historically loyal Best Western Client

    « Not a pleasant stay. »

Stayed in this hotel this past week. Check in wasn't anything great, the lady at the front desk didn't seem to be enjoying her work, it was 10 pm upon our arrival. The room seemed dirty, carpet was old and filthy. Our room although it was confirmed to be a non smoking room, it smelled like a smoking room. Our kids asthma immediately kicked in! The bathroom needs major work, as do the rooms and bed. Bed was uncomfortable, the AC made a strange noise and it was not cool enough. Breakfast wasn't anything good, the room in which is served is old as well. Signs are up stating they will be remodeling, I hope that happens soon, although, I wouldn't stay here again. Very unpleasant stay.

    « Helping out »

I have had surgery on my achilles and came in on a scooter. I received extra attention at the front desk and more importantly, help at breakfast. This helps out so much and I was grateful. I also liked how the handicap parking was close by and easy to park and get into the hotel. The breakfast was wonderful too.

« Good Hotel and Worth a Stay »

My stay at the Best Western at JTB/Southpoint was a good experience. The room was well kept and comfortable, and I didn't have any issues. The rate was a good deal, and I found the TV channel selection to be really good as well. The staff was very accommodating and able to help. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and would recommend it to others.

    « Beware!! »

Booked a no smoking, king size bed. Got an ashtray smelling room and a queen size bed. My wife thinks is was a double, but I'll call it a queen. Here is the story. I used some Visa reward points to book this hotel because we have stayed in it many times and never had a problem. One time we were even "Guest of the Day" As I said I booked a no smoking room. As soon as we opened the door we knew there had been a mistake made. The smell was horrible. I went to the desk to get another room. I was told there were no more no smoking rooms available!! What did I book? Why wasn't the room I booked available? Don't tell me they over booked. If I did not show up would I get my reward points back? If I had used a credit card would they not charge me? I have to think our room was changed because we used our reward points. We had just returned for a 20 day trip around the Northeast. We stayed in 5 Best Western motels, paid for each of them, and had no problems. We also stayed in two other brands. One of them will probably get my business from now on. I was a big fan of Best Western with a lot of BW reward points and always looked on their site first. I won't do that again. Reading some of the latest reviews I have a feeling this motel is going down hill. I haven't even mentioned the fact that after a very long wait to check in there was no apology, and there was no apology for the room switch. When we checked out and were asked if everything was okay my reply was "No". That drew no response from the desk clerk.

« Good Convenient Place to Stay in Jacksonville »

I/we always stay at this location when coming to Jacksonville. Hotel is under renovation. Although an average Best Western this location is a good value. Located just off I-95 it is a quick drive to the beach using JTB Blvd and shopping, movie theatre, dining are minutes away. The hotel is always well occupied, a lot of youth sport teams stay here. Breakfast is always above Best Western average, 24 hr. coffee in the lobby. Recommend

    « Great hotel stay »

Really loved my stay here. The staff was friendly and the spa was well equipped. The room size was decent and clean and of course the breakfast bar was presented with all types of choices. I will definitely stay here again..

    « An Excellent Stay »

I stayed here for one night on a business trip and every aspect of my stay was comfortable and met my expectations. The property is conveniently located at I-95 and Butler providing access to major roadways in all directions. The check-in process was smooth and efficient even though several people were waiting to check in. The front desk person was very friendly and professional and knowledgeable. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable too. Everything worked properly. The hotel offers a free breakfast every morning. It opened at 6:30 am on a Monday morning. I would have preferred a 6:00 opening because I had an early appointment, but that's just me. If you need to stay in the area I'm sure you'll be happy with your stay.

    « Terrible Experience »

My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Jacksonville and stayed at this hotel. We were extremely disappointed with our experience . Our beds were uncomfortable, and our sheets didn't feel clean and fresh. Upon entereing the room, we found a dirty washrag on our bathroom sink counter. The room is small, carpet is worn and we felt uncomfortable putting our feet on the floor.. The room had a terrible odor. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Eggs had strange flavor/taste. Upon leaving hotel I requested comment card from front desk clerk and was told they didn't have any.

    2
    « Just barely tolerable »

This was by far the worst Best Western that I have ever seen. I didn't allow my feet to touch the carpet! The room needs updating, better upkeep and cleaning. The bed linen was dingy, the bathroom toilet lid wouldn't fit securely on the tank and the "business center" didn't have a printer to allow us to print our boarding passes. Breakfast was pressed egg patties, something that resrmbles sausage, waffles, mini pastries, cereal, coffee and juice but this description does it much more justice than it deserves. But, at least they tried. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. We would not return or recommend.

    « Maybe just for a night »

Couldn't decide between this one or microtel before I came to Jacksonville was just looking at pictures on Priceline and other sites even though microtel had better reviews I saw they had a decent hot breakfast at best western which I thought we would enjoy but disappointed the bathroom light was out and the room smelled like baby vomit we got moved to a king size which was better but was even more disappointed when we went to breakfast and i wasn't expecting it to be a buffet or anything but I was hoping for more then soggy waffles and watered down apple juice so we spent two nights there's some timer in the bathroom for the light turns itself off after 15 minutes and no fridge or microwave and the hallways smell gross we went to microtel the 3rd night and liked it much better pros about this hotel is it's quiet and if you're just looking for a place to sleep for the night it'll do con no fridge no microwave some rooms smell funky timer in bathroom honest review hope this helps someone who was indecisive like me haha ??

    « Disappointing »

The exterior of the building appeared to be well cared for; and so was the lobby. The room that I was assigned was subpar at best. The room definitely needed a refreshing! The carpet needed replacing, the furniture was outdated and the sheets were very dingy. There was mold in the bathroom, and chipped tiles on the surround of the tub. The view was that of businesses and the interstate, The full breakfast was neither appealing nor appetizing. I noticed the sign at the elevator on day two (2) concerning the updating that would be completed by November 6; I would imagine that they will have to shut down to accommodate the needed updates and cleanings. THe place just didn't appear to be clean.

    « Serves its purpose »

On our way back to Boynton Beach hubby chose this as a stopping point for the night to break up the long drive. Price was right, had a lovely outdoor pool. Rooms have a nice TV, WiFi, refrigerator and microwave but sure could use a facelift. Room service if needed comes from a nearby restaurant with packaged salad dressings. Hot breakfast buffet is included but leaves a lot to be desired. Not a yogurt or any healthy options in site. We are refreshed however and on the road again.

« Treated like l was an illegal alien at front desk even though I have stayed here more than 6 times in the past year. »

The last time I stayed here (3 weeks ago) it was great. I phoned for reservations and they remembered me and asked if I wanted to use the same credit card as I usually use and asked if my phone number was the same as before. When I checked in, I told them my address was not the same as on the license and they said no problem, was it the 175 address to which I responded that it was. They automatically had put the service dog on the room and were the best. I could not have asked for any better. Apparently, the hotel is now under new management according to Joel Shank, the night supervisor. He claims no information is kept on the computer and that I could only check in with a State Drivers' License or a State picture ID issued by the DMV. He would not accept my US Government issued Military ID, nor would he accept my US Government issued pictured VA card. A passport was not acceptable. Only the State issued ID's. I told him my Drivers' License did not have my current address. He said I had to have a current one to check in. Then, when we finally got to check in with Neal's ID, we were put in a room down the hall from the elevator. I told Joel Shank at the front desk that when I made the reservation, I was assured we would be near the elevators due to Neal's disability and he told me there were no rooms available for us near the elevators. To be treated so poorly as often as we come here, is not acceptable.

« Great hotel for the price »

The staff was very helpful. the room was comfy and clean, a little outdated but they are planning to remodel, so its gonna be even better. The breakfast was ok, i'm not too crazy about, what appeared to be ready made eggs, but they tasted fine. And they did have several options, sausage patties, waffles, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, juice etc. i'd stay here again!!

« Clean, comfortable and good location »

Finally a clean, comfortable and safe place to stay.(my room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable)The hotel staff were great and quick to assist with any matter. The price was excellent. The breakfast room was good.In addition the Wi-Fi work perfectly. The overall perspective of the hotel to include the parking, location as well as the entrance were well above board. The property is well-maintained.They'll be my first choice when I'm back in the area.

« Good Mayo Clinic home base »

My family and I have stayed here for many years, as we have visited the Mayo Clinic, for different reasons. The staff is usually very helpful and the rooms are usually clean and adequate for our needs. The location is about 12 to 15 minutes from the Clinic. The hotel has a special Mayo Rate. Be sure to let them know that you are going to Mayo. They are flexible when scheduling at the Clinic needs to change the stay. We will be back. Also, it appears they are doing some renovation now.

    « Best Western Salisbury »

Came to Jacksonville to attend my 45th HS reunion.Hotel was very nice. They were in the beginnings of rennovation so room did not have refrigerator in it. Would have been nice seeing we were there for 3 nights. Is very close to shopping and the beach.

    « Hotel stay »

This hotel offers great rooms with microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Found the attendant Carmelita Moore to be very helpful. Answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Had appointments at Mayo Clinic which was only 10 minutes away. I would certainly stay here again.

    3
« Very outdated and worn out »

Step into the seventies that want to be the nineties. The fixtures, walls, bathrooms and beds need replacing. The checkin service was slow for only one person in line, about twenty minutes with a reservation. The rooms have weird furniture layout packed too full of sad old goods. The AC worked well but the carpet seemed damp to wet. Rust and cracked paint in the bath seemed not too bad until we saw the mismatched toilet lid. Sad really this place needs to start again. The fact they have scheduled and posted a future makeover was the reason we did not rate it poor. The free coffee was not bad. The springs could have bounced me to a Marriott property last night had we not gotten in so late. The local television selection was limited even though HBO was included, no Thursday night football?

    « Long Term Stay »

I have to be in Jacksonville for several weeks to attend to some extended family matters That said, I chose to stay at the Best Western JTB using my rewards points while I looked for somewhere else to stay long term. This hotel worked out so well during my four day stay, that I decided to stay for a couple more weeks until the apartment I found was ready. The hotel is conveniently located near I 95 and several eating establishments. It is also no more than 10-20 minutes from other places I needed to be around town. Right now, I 95 is under construction again, but when that is finished, it will be very easy access to and from this hotel. The beds are very comfortable (the most important thing), and the staff here is wonderful and friendly. There is a nice sized outdoor pool and a fitness center. Even the internet works pretty well, not slow like some places. I cannot say much for the breakfast, it is the standard: greasy meats, microwaved egg patties, pastries, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt and canned fruit. This is the one thing that I would change about this hotel and most other hotels that offer (free) breakfast. I would rather see a lower rate without breakfast than depend on this stuff every morning. I have not tried the coffee. Most hotel coffee is not as strong as I like it (I like espresso), so I make my own in the room. Because the Best Westerns are franchise hotels, I know the choices for breakfast are up to the owners. My favorite Best Western has a chef who serves made-to-order omelets every morning!

    5
    « pet friendly »

The hotel staff was friendly to us and accepted our pet without hesitation. The room was typical hotel room but didn't have a refrigerator for my pet's food for the 2 night we stayed thus I had to wasted pet food

    « dirty & poor service »

PLEASE don't stay here this hotel is very nasty and rude employees, we worked midnight and stayed here I asked for clean towels in the morning b/c the maids don't start cleaning till 10am the manager stated that when the maids come on the floor around 10 they will give me towels he was a England man that was very rude, the breakfast is horrible and its the same food every morning the breakfast lady stated to us its not gonna change b/c there trying to open a restaurant, the sad thing is that all the money guest spend on rooms at this hotel and get treated like crap, we also had a do not disturb on the door and the maids still knocked on out door then opened our door, I stated a do not disturb sign means do not disturb they stated the manager told them all to check the do not disturb room as well as check outs and thats a law suit waiting to happen, very sorry hotel and rooms were dirty, I would not put my dog in the hotel if it was FREE, the front desk lady also talks to guest like crap she really needs a new job were she don't have to deal with human people, very poor experience, best western sure don't stand by their name.

Excellent location to downtown, bay-meadows business area, next to major highway , short distance to shopping and beaches - main reason is trusted staff - I had left a bag filled with valuable items- headphones, etc. The young woman in housekeeper find the bad after I left and turned it in to Housekeeping supervisor - I had called the supervisor who advised it had been turned in and kept for safe keeping until my return - I come here often and this is a reason why - I have had mot many experiences where someone would have return the items - the housekeeping supervisor was wonderful and responded professionally and quickly - the staff at this location makes the differences - I commend management on hiring good people with honest values - I have been coming to this location for sometime and will continue to use as the hotel in Jacksonville - once again thank you to the housekeeping employee who returned the items

« Best hotel for youe money »

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to the Mayo clinic. Hotel is very clean and a nice free breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the pool and weight room. Will definitely return of in the neighborhood.

    « Nice Hotel »

This was a nice place to stay. Their breakfast needs a lot of improvement but otherwise everything was great. Only 20 minutes from the beach and much less expensive than the hotels on the beach. The hotel and surrounding roads are under construction so that can be a bit of a hassle.

    2
    « Low Budget Hotel »

As I'm checking in, the employee says that there is no tv because the satellite is out due to the rain. She says it always go out when there is bad weather. Fortunately when I get to my room, the TV is working. She also advises me that there is no water for free or for sale, no vending machines, no market place or something to buy a snack. I come into the room and hit the switch on the wall that doesn't turn on any light. Light turns on 5 minutes later. Same thing happens in the morning. I go to turn on the bathroom light but it doesn't turn on for at least 5 minutes. I realize there is a second bathroom light on a timer. This light is very hot to stand under and turns off after 15 minutes on the timer. The room's chair and carpet are very dirty. I hang my towels up but the cleaning lady still replaces them with new towels. Rent a car from the airport if staying at this hotel. I asked for a taxi twice and both times, it took 30 minutes for the taxi to arrive. There are no places to eat that is walking distance.

    4
    « Good location! »

The staff is well mannered and respectful to me. Easily accessible by car; guests noted the affordable parking· Near the city center; shopping, restaurants, bars nearby and close. Two minutes from I-95 and less than a five-minute ride to St. Luke's Hospital. An especially good location if you're doing business on the Southside.

    5
« Great location, services and pricing! »

Excellent front desk experience, efficient, accommodating and helpful. Decent pricing and a great location. The room and other amenities were clean, and staff were very friendly. I was travelling from Toronto on route to Orlando and was tired, so a 3 mins wait from check in to the time I got the keys for our room was perfect. Breakfast was great with lots of choices. The kids enjoyed and wanted to stay on longer, but we had to continue and spent just one night. I strongly recommend this hotel and will sure visit again.

    « A Little Tired but a Great Deal »

We had to go to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and this Best Western is a 15 minute, straight through, drive from the clinic. It's an older property and a little on the "tired" side but you can't beat the cost. We had a $50 credit due to a promotion that Best Western is running so it only cost us $243.80 for 4 nights! Compared to the $283 a nite it would have cost to stay at the hotel within the Mayo campus it's a no brainer. The staff was very professional. We had some issues in the room, fridge didn't work and a light went out in the bathroom but they took care of those issues. It does have an excercise room and an outside pool. It's also pet friendly. I saw people with dogs but they must have a designated floor because I never saw them on our floor. While we were there the only "extra" was working ice machines on every floor but there were no vending machines for snacks anywhere.

    2
    « Go elsewhere »

Was stuck here for 2 nights. I wasn't happy to say the least. Carpet is old and dirty looking. Furniture looked like it was from the 70's. They do offer HDTV and decent internet speed. They have smoking rooms which was the only plus of my stay. Wish I would have gotten an updated room like the one shown in the pics. Didn't try the breakfast.

    2
    « Not Clean »

I am sitting in the hotel room right now and, honestly, I would leave if it wasn't so late at night. Really bad. Not clean at all. Moldy bathroom. Stained carpets and old furniture. Sheets are practically threadbare. Terrible musty smell in hall and in room. We are traveling through Jacksonville and I booked this hotel because of the positive reviews. Big mistake. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

« Budget friendly and comfortable »

On our children's spring break from school we decided to take a trip to Jacksonville. This was one of the hotels that kind of hit all of our requirements when thinking of where to stay that offers free breakfast, Internet, has a pool, and is family friendly. The hotel lobby is very nice and offers arriving guests free refreshments and coffees. There is ample seating to lounge in the lobby and multiple elevators that are good sized for large groups of people. There are several floors which can be a hassle if traveling with young children as you have some wait for elevators and multiple stops. The pool was open but a tad on the cold side. Breakfast was buffet style and had its own room in the first floor. At times there was little seating options depending on what time in the morning you went down to eat. The beds are comfortable and the room offers everything you may need for a good nights sleep. Also location is great if you have need to be right outside the downtown area.

    « Just okay »

Stayed 3 nights for business. Rooms were clean but very small and tight. The bathroom was ridiculously small. Had to stand beside the toilet to close the door I n order to get into the shower. Bed was comfortable and the ac unit worked well.

    3
    « Quick Stopover »

Trying to avoid early morning departure and rush hour traffic in a large city before Clinic visit. Slept well but so-so for the rest of the visit. Breakfast selection compared to several other places we have stayed is quite small and could use some serious upgrade.

    4
« Quality stay at Best Western »

My husband and I had quality service and was accommodated efficiently. I personally enjoyed the staff's politeness and courteous behavior in being professional. All of our trips were due to medical appointments and that is why we kept coming back to this particular hotel. We hope to visit other Best Western Hotels in other states for vacations as we have in past years.

« Like sleeping in an ashtray »

Been coming here for work for a while now, but recently the entire hotel smells like an ashtray including the two rooms I've been in tonight. Great staff but I've given up on switching rooms for the night. Hope they solve this issue soon but can't stay here anymore. Will pay extra somewhere else to not have a smoky room/bed.

    « Definitely a Five Star Hotel »

My daughter and I chose to stay at the Best Western while in Jacksonville, Florida because they had good rates for our two-day stay. Our reservation made over the phone was easy and the desk receptionist was polite and was able to accommodate us with no problems. The entire hotel staff was very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best that I have had at a hotel. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. We were very satisfied with their services

    3
    « a decent place »

This motel/hotel is a convenient stop-over place in Jacksonville directly adjacent to I-95. Clean, moderately priced, lacking in some conveniences (no fridge or micro-wave, no ice maker on most floors), but otherwise OK. Better than average 'free' breakfast.

    3
    « Softball Tournament »

Average hotel needs some work. Rooms are small and AC is too loud. Breakfast not good at all and roaches walking on top of the high top tables at sawgrass room. Some staff are friendly good parking but there's a lot of construction around the area.

    « A little disapointed »

The guy at the front desk was the best in this hotel. He was so nice and so polite! We had some issues there. First, the refrigerator was not working. And second, the room smelled like humid (really bad). We called the front desk and this nice man moved us to another room on the same floor. Ok, the refrigerator was working, that's true, but making so much noise that I almost wanted to turn it down! The smell was a little bit more tolerable... The man from the front desk called to check that everything was ok. :/ That's when we realized that he did his best. Honestly, the hotel needs a big renovation urgently! I always use Best Western hotels because they never disappoint me. This was the first time! Breakfast was ok (the egg cakes were hard), and they didn't have butter or cream cheese. Well, that was it. It was clean, and the bed really comfortable (at least). Good to spend the night (like we did), no more.

On vacation with the family stopped at Best Western. Everything was great. From the rates, to the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms, (which are fully equipped with the most important essentials), customer service and finally their complimentary breakfast great. Could not have asked for more. We were all very happy. ??????????

Latonya at the front desk is an example of how customer service is done right! Genuinely caring and accommodating, she made every effort to assure that our stay met our expectations. Combine that with the cleanliness of the rooms and property (even though they were undergoing renovation), the efficiency of the staff and the amenities and you get fine value for your travel dollar. This is the second time I've stayed at this property and will definite do so again.

« Customer service is terrible. »

My trip started as a family emergency! Only to be compounded by this Best western Hotel and the owner. I made the reservation for July 7,2016 and July 8, 2016 based on what the booking agent told me. When I asked how close to the Mayo Clinic the hotel was he said 1,5 miles basically across the street. Upon arriving at the Clinic I discovered the hotel was 30 minutes from the clinic. Being faced with 15 different appointments at the clinic at various times this would not be acceptable. I called to cancel, explained my situation and was informed I would be charged one night because I did not cancel 24 hours in advance according to hotel policy. The booking agent called the property to see if the hotel would make an exception. Because the hotel would not, the booking agent said they would charge the full rate. I complained and explained I made the booking due to their misinformation. They reviewed my recorded phone conversation and offered to issue a 20% refund and apologized for their mistake. I assume the refund is the commission they earned. I wrote a scathing review of the hotel to which the owner replied placing all the blame the Mexican Subsidiary of Expedia, this was before I received the email from the booking company offering the 20% refund. At this point the property owner, Mr. Green looks like the bandit. It is his property that gets the full fee minus the 20%. Also when he pointed his finger at someone else he did not remember the remaining fingers were pointed in his direction. Today July 9, 2016 I received an email confirmation charging my card for the price of 2 nights $198.66. I checked my statement and the charge for that amount is pending on my statement. This place is a rip off and does not stand by their customers. I told the booking company to keep their refund and i am telling the JCB properties and MR. Green the (owner/excuse maker/robber) to keep his refund. I hope several reviews will take more than that from him due to his business practices. I retired after 35 years in the hospitality industry and I am ashamed to say that customer service has stooped to deceit and blame pointing and the customer is not even a second thought. This experience will go down in my book as an all time low in customer service.

    « not a good experience »

I just spent a week at this hotel. First, a few positive things. The staff was friendly. The coffee was pretty good. The room was clean, and the housekeeping staff did a great job every day. Now, on to the negatives. The first thing we noticed was that the door to the room was hard to open - it had been hung improperly and the door was sticking against the frame. We had to push hard to open it. We then found out that the door to the bathroom was hung the same way - I had to push from the outside to help my wife get out of the bathroom. Second, the bathroom toilet got clogged. When the maintenance guy came up, I saw him visit someone else's room with the plunger before he came to our room. I said, "busy day, huh?" How many times do people have to complain about clogged toilets before someone makes a decision to install better toilets? In short, I didn't want to deal with potential plumbing issues, so I started using the downstairs restroom by the entrance to the pool. The hotel wifi service was very slow and not reliable. The air conditioner for the room wasn't very effective at keeping the room cool, and when it kicked on, it was so loud it woke me up at night. I didn't eat the food, so I have no opinion about breakfast. It appears that the rooms have been recently upgraded with tile floors, nicer sinks and countertops and some new paint, but they missed some important things, like doors that swing freely and quality toilets.

I was pleasently surprised. I was in town because I was cruising out the next day. Because of that I didn't want to have to pay a lot of money for a hotel, but I still wanted it to be safe and clean. The hotel was clean. The cost was great! It was close to what I needed it to be close to. I couldn't have ask for anything else. I will use this brand of hotel again.

Good experience as the room was very quiet. Great internet to get my e mail. Fast to go bag of water granola bar and apple since we were leaving too early for breakfast . Coffee in lobby at all times.Over all a very nice stay. We did have a issue with the check in and choice of room. There was no microwave or refrigerator as stated in our reservation. They did upgrade us free to another room with these accommodations. It seems that the microwave and frige are upgrades now. Another way for them to make money..

« A Great Deal with an Amazing staff!! »

My husband and I were driving from Key West to Pennsylvania and we decided to pit stop at Jacksonville . The Internet on my phone while driving was not working well so by mistake we booked the room for the wrong day . One call to the hotel and the person on reception ( should have asked the name ) was kind enough to accommodate us for the night instead ( really appreciate that !) . When we got to the hotel , we realized the location was perfect for us very close to I-95 and 10 minutes from the downtown exactly what we wanted . The hotel has a great ambience , the staff was one of the best I have encountered in a hotel . We had booked the executive King room which was spacious and the bathroom was very clean too . The breakfast provided was also great with a lot of choices to choose from ( hot and cold ) .The staff was always around to help us with a smiling face ! There is a clean pool by the breakfast area and I'm sure it is great during summers especially in the evening . The hotel surpassed both my husband's and my expectations , considering we have to travel a lot and try to find a good place for a great price . All in all a great deal for your buck. I will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Jacksonville . We will definitely stay here the next time we visit the area !

Staff were friendly, overall the hotel is nice. The carpet in the room had four spots - so it was kinda icky. The bathroom was tiny but sufficient for a one night stay. The room was clean besides the carpet. I would not stay in a room where the bathroom door could not be shut without being inconvenienced. One night yes, but would not stay in that room more then a night. Need to consider having a regular chair in the room if you want to use a laptop you had to sit in the non office chair - was not very convenient.

« Slow Service and Dirty Room »

The hotel looks nice on the outside, lobby is decent, free hot breakfast and my son loved the outdoor pool.... That's about all the positive things I can say about this hotel. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights for a wedding during Memorial Day weekend. I'm not an impatient person but there was only about 3 people in line when we arrived but the amount of time it took to check in was ridiculous. The elevators smelled like roach spray. The room was old and musty. Carpet was dirty and the floor in the bathroom was sticky. The first night we decided to reuse our towels to conserve for the environment.... but the second night/day we put all of the used towels on the floor indicating we needed new ones. Well when we returned to our room around 5pm, the dirty towels were gone but they were not replaced. We had NO TOWELS AT ALL. So my mother called the front desk to where she was told the washing machines were down so there were no clean towels to give us. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! We left to enjoy the Jazz festival downtown and returned around 10pm. Still no towels. I called the front desk and the woman who answered did not know anything about the machines being down and had some towels sent to our room. (which took about 20 minutes) The towels seemed to have been washed but one of the face towels had someone else's pubic hairs on it!!!! Also the bed linens were changed that day but visible stains were seen on the new pillowcases. And there was a HUGE bug in the room which kept hiding under the AC unit. (photos below) I am a budget minded person when it comes to hotels, so I don't mind staying at lower end hotels but the customer service and room cleanliness were far below my standards. Especially for $75 per night!!!!!

I have never seen a floor this dirty in my life. I could see rice and other food all over the floor. Made me feel like the rest of the room would not be clean. Maid came to vacuum but, it did not help. It still looked and now smelled bad. Rude and very slow people at front desk. It took two people at the desk 15 min to check in two people.

I reserved a room through Priceline. My wife and daughter in law arrive to find that the room booked had one bed. They asked for two beds. Were told that would be $10 upgrade charge. Usually through online you get two full or queen. But one king would be ok. But no no no it wasn't one king-size bed it was one regular bed. That is ridiculous. For a measly $10 bucks they have lost my business. If a business will do something like that what other way will they try to rip you off. Just sorry business practices...lose all future revenue for an made up policy. Oh well there are lots of other hotels I can stay at.

Wanted a room for 1 night close to Interstate 95 and this was an excellent choice. Very large room, great water pressure in shower, and large flat screen TV. There is an out doors med pool with chairs and shade. Weight room too. The free hot breakfast was very nicely laid out. , Waffles , sausage and biscuits, hard boiled eggs, bagels, bread, yogurts , 3-4 cereals, and egg sandwich. Coffee, juices milk etc..This is a 7 story hotel, very nice lobby and hot coffee 24 hrs. All of the staff and workers were very friendly. Lots of places to get your dinners 1/2 to 1 mile away. There is construction on highway and interstate 95 but things went smoothly. Got a room for $71 plus tax reasonable for the areas but very clean hotel and large bedrooms. Great choice for 1 or a few nights!

« Second to Worse Stay Ever »

To start I will say the hotel is under "much needed" renovations. I was aware the hotel was undergoing construction and took that into consideration however the carpets were filthy and the cleanliness of the room was problematic. I found it had dirty and stained floors, carpets, tables and trash everywhere. The second day after the maid cleaned the room the toiletries were not replaced nor the bathmat. The carpet still had not been vacuumed. Guests' voices radiated though the walls/doors while walking as well as the uncontrollable children running up and down the hallways. Doors to rooms slammed shut constantly. The tub was mildewed and the linen on the bed needs to be replaced asap. The front desk staffs were stressed to the max with the constant influx of people requesting services or regarding issues. I can't leave out the groups of congregating guests in the parking lot until 3:45a. This was my first stay at a Best Western and the hotel description differed drastically from what I experienced. It was an unfavorable experience and ended my time in Jacksonville earlier than I would have preferred.

« Hotel has smoking rooms. »

Hotel has smoking rooms located on the first floor. When you walk into the lobby that is all you smell is stale smoke. Rooms are ok, but every time you step out of the elevator you smell smoke. Pretty disgusting for a major chain hotel with inside corridor to still allow smoking. And for it to be where all other guest have to walk. I wouldn't suggest staying at this hotel. There are numerous others in the area that are much nicer for the same price.

Great location off 95 and close(15 minutes) to the beaches. Every employee I encountered during my stay gave me a genuine and friendly greeting. Couldn't ask for better customer service. I had a loud air conditioner in my room. I didn't think it would interrupt my sleep as much as it did or I would have reported it. I don't doubt that the staff would have assisted me in some way.

« Going through renovation outside, use your gps around this exit because it gets confusing »

We have stayed three times at this BW on our I95 trips from Florida to the NE area. It is only 5 minutes off the southern side of Jacksonville. However, there is construction on 95 and off 95 on this exit. So watch your gps so you take that quick right turn onto the section where the BW is located in a hotel/ restaurant/ hospital area that is a big circle. Once you are there it is a reasonable place to stop with many choices in the area for restaurants. Many other hotels adjacent as well. That being said, there is a modest breakfast included with pre cooked items like eggs, sausage, and biscuits with gravy. Good coffee, juice, toast, etc. It is in a safe area, in fact, we saw a few police cars in the parking area, not for any particular reason, but they were gone by supper time. We always have a good sleeping time here - good mattresses. This BW seems to be going through renovations inside as well - next door the bathroom was being fixed. Last couple of years, it was the elevator or something else.

First time staying at Best Western Hotels. I'm not sure if I'll stay again anytime soon. If so, I'll be sure the hotel is new and ask about the last renovations. The location was good but due to construction was hard to access. Was checked into smoking rooms even though I requested nonsmoking. The desk clerk was helpful and changed my room immediately. Overall, needs customer service training. The stay was for one night only so we made it through.

    « Don't stay in 509 »

Positives: The girl at the front desk was VERY nice even after being yelled at by a customer on the phone. *Fridge/microwave in the room Negatives: *509 is right next to the elevator and 3 feet from the vending machine area. I could hear the elevator dinging ALL NIGHT LONG. Then the vending guy came to refill the machine at 530 am. Again, about 2 feet outside my door. *The toilet seat was up when I checked into my room so I mistakenly thought it was clean. When I went to use it, there was urine and pubic hair all over the seat *The shower was disgusting. Not clean and rust everywhere * Towels were rough and threadbare *The door was a little janky and didn't close well so I didn't really feel safe I wouldn't stay there again.

    « Needs Improvement »

Check in and check out was handled very professionally and quick. They are in remodel which is understandable, however, if you get an older room like we did there are issues. Bathroom door would not lock, very small room for two queen beds, floor in the bathroom was pulled up and the grout and caulking was dirty and in some areas black, and the room was just dated and had a smell of mold and dirt. Our maid service did nothing but throw towels in the bathroom. When I mentioned this I was told it was because we had belongings on the bed. We did not. I do like the area, easy to find and if the lobby is a picture of what is to be after renovations then I think it would be a huge improvement. I like Best Westerns and use them mostly if not only on trips. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and knowledgeable and explained policies very well. I think once all the work is done this will be a lovely hotel.

    « Worthwhile »

We stayed here for 3 nights to go to Welcome to Rockville. Everybody that was there that weekend went to Rockville as well, so there was a lot of comroderie. We asked for a room with 2 beds. They said they only had rooms with one bed unless I didn't mind a smoking room. They even sprayed the room down for us, and it wasn't that bad. The bathroom was very clean. The linens and beds were in good shape, clean and comfortable. The did not charge us extra for extra people in the room. They were very accommodating. The free breakfast was better than a lot of places. Fairly good selection, and some hot items. All in all it was a very good experience. Would definitely stay again. We paid rock bottom prices through a third party website.

« Staff pleasant, but the hotel had it's issues. »

I stayed for 2 nights. First, getting into the hotel is difficult. With all of the construction in the area, you have to access a service road which is off Butler Blvd. and has I-95 spilling into it. My first attempt into the hotel, I was blocked by the traffic and had to circle the area a couple of times before I could finally get into the parking lot. The room I had was on the sixth floor and apparently they haven't renovated that floor yet. The room was small (bathroom even smaller) with one bed and the sheets were faded yellowish, they didn't feel crisp and clean, and at one point was bitten by something while in bed. The second night I was there, the power went out in the whole hotel. This meant that I could either sit in a pitch black room with no air or climb down 6 flights of stairs to the lobby and sit with many other complaining guests. I climbed the 6 flights. The hotel staff refused to comp anyone for the inconvenience, they didn't even bring beverages or snacks out to the guests. The power was out for approximately 3 hours. The guests were told that the power was out in a 5 mile radius. That was not true, because people that I had traveled with were on the opposite side of I-95 (La Quinta and Hampton Inn) within a 1 mile radius and they had power. The outage may have not been Best Westerns fault, but they lied to the guests. Luckily the power came back on by about 10:00pm so that I could go back upstairs and go to bed. About the room....the bathroom was so small that if you opened the door, you could barely get in. The door bumped against the toilet and the tub was completely blocked off, in order to take a shower you had to close the door. And what is up with the height of the sink. I swear it only came up to my thighs. Brushing my teeth was interesting, I had to bend way down to use the sink. The breakfast....not impressed. Every hot offering was microwaved before being offered. The eggs were like little disks and had no flavor. I ended up only eating the yogurt. Would I stay again? No, I will keep looking for other vacancies.

« Ok Hotel. Nice staff »

We booked this hotel on a discount site and it was moderately priced. The hotel is well located , right off of I95 and close to the University of North Florida. The good; excellent location, exceptionally friendly staff, hot water strong shower, nice pool area, decent included breakfast, comfortable bed. The bad; the hotel is a bit run down. The carpet is stained and the wall paper is peeling. Because the hotel allows pets, there is a dog smell on the floors. The hotel is not immaculately clean and there was a roach in our room. The floor was sticky in the breakfast area. Overall, would I stay again? The answer is maybe. For a low price, it's not a bad place. Of note, there is a sign in the lobby that says the hotel is renovating so maybe within the next few few months, things will get nicer.

    « Good place »

We came here due to having VIP points through Expedia and being in the central location of where we needed to be. I read some really horrible reviews and was feeling discouraged that I booked this stay, but upon arrival it really wasn't what people made it out to be. The staff during the day, especially the manager was very accommodating to us. He moved us to a different room two nights into our stay so we could have a fridge and microwave. Not too happy with the attitude of the lady who worked one of the nights, but I've been there so i try to be patient with that. I read a few reviews about roaches? I never saw a single roach OR palmetto bug my whole stay. Not even outside by the pool area! If you stay here, understand they are doing renovations and there is a lot of construction near the hotel (they can not help that). It's not the nicest and fanciest hotel, but the beds are comfy, it's quiet and the breakfast is decent! I want to give a huge two thumbs up to housekeeping for how sweet these ladies and gents are! We were always greeted when we walked by and they're very accommodating to our needs as well!

« Worst BW room I've ever had »

We were redeeming Aeroplan points so didn't expect a lot. We were late arriving (about 10:30 p.m.). But these two things do not excuse the disgusting smoking room #104 which is right off the lobby. We never book smoking rooms as our daughter has asthma. After entering the room, I complained to the front desk in person as was told there we no other rooms they could give us as they were "full". We had driven 1000 Kms that day and were unable to make alternate arrangements so stayed. The place was dirty and mouldy with broken knobs and light bulbs. The smell was so bad that when we arrived at our resort in Sanibel Island the next day all the clothes in our suitcases smelled from the horrible smokers that room! Gross. I would never ever under any circumstances stay here again. We have had dozens of points redeem rooms with Best Western all across Canada and USA and they have been wonderful, often exceptional, stays. The breakfast at this hotel had wonderful fresh grapefruit. My husband said the orange juice tasted like it had been stored in an old tire, though. Not a great welcome to Florida!

I come to Jacksonvile once a month to attend yoga teacher training. It's an intense weekend, and by the time we are released on Saturday night, I just want to take a hot shower and crawl into bed to get rest before our early morning session. With this Best Western location, I feel like I have a home in Jacksonvile. No complications with quick check in and check out. The staff is welcoming, the rooms are clean, and I always sleep well. The hotel is located in an office park and seems more like a business hotel than most other Best Western locations. This is definitely a top notch property for the hotel chain. For the price, it's a great deal.

We checked in and were told we booked a smoking room. There is no way I would ever book a smoking room. Then we were told the hotel was sold out so they could not move us. We went up to the room hopeful that we could get through one night. There were gum wads all over the floor and food in the corners. I asked if someone could at least come vacuum and I was told no. Then we turned on the air conditioner hoping to get rid of the cigarette smell and that just made the smell of smoke stronger. There were ashes on the window ledge and on the floor. Finally, I turned on the light in the bathroom and roaches came out of the sink. We left the hotel. The only decent thing was that the woman at the front desk seemed to care and we did not get charged for the night.

Rooms were not clean at all. Black hairs on tile floors, in sink and bathtub. Dust on furniture, crumbs on furniture, film on tv screen. We had two rooms in all and it didn't get much better in the 2nd room.

Stayed one night 4-9-16. The ac/heat did not work and the bathroom wasn't clean so much. I used my own cleaning products to make the bathroom more presentable. Due to all the construction near the hotel it was hard to enter/find. I wouldn't state here again. P.s. the pool was clean.

The check in process was very easy. The desk clerk was friendly and quick; however, before it was time to check out, a different desk clerk called my room and stated that I needed to give them a credit card because they were going to charge me for incidentals (fridge and micro) which I did not request. I told her that I was not giving her another credit card nor did I ask for an upcharge. The desk clerk apolozied and took care of the upcharges.

Checked into a room on the 3rd floor. UGH. Smoky smell in hallway. Room supposedly non-smoking, but strong disinfectant odor in room as tho' to conceal smoke. Sticky substance on floor. Ice machine not working. TV not working. Complained. Given another room on 4th floor. Much better. OK. Hard to evaluate over-all experience because of differences. Service was good, tho'.

« efficient staff, clean facilities »

This is a very good Best Western. It seems to be well managed. The negatives: road construction outside the hotel, I had trouble finding the exit; slow internet connection at times, kept disconnecting. The room was clean, breakfast was efficient. They have a good variety. I didn't care for some of the things they offered, but you can find something to fit your taste.

« Nice, friendly, great atmosphere. Even the construction going on outside is not a problem. »

We really enjoyed our stay here. Partner has medical issues which warrant close proximity to exit. We were accommodated well. This is a very pretty place with good upkeep and a nice atmosphere. There is a lot of road construction on JTB currently but the noise did not reach our room. It was quiet, friendly, courteous, and the price was good for what we received. Outstanding overall.

My second floor room I suspect was reserved for road construction workers as they seem to congregate in the hall. I had to ask for a bedding change as it had hair on the pillows and sheets. It was changed without a mattress pad. I had a travel group here and the folks on the upper floors were fine. We did not get room service for 2 days and we had to get our own towels.

Service was ok , the room was ok but smelled musty. Breakfast was a huge disappointment from the food to the service and it seemed that no one cared. My wife and I had prepaid to get a better price but wished we had not done that because it was not a good experience , it was close to the interstate so we took it , we have stayed at other Best Westerns and were pleased . But not this one

« We stay there when we have apointments with Mayo Clinic it is only 10 min. away. »

We have stayed at this hotel a lot we have never had a problem. Staff has always been very friendly always ask how you are doing and saying have a nice day. The staff at the desk has always been friendly and fast in both check in and checkout. Rooms have always been very clean. The lobby has always been very clean. The breakfast has always been hot and plentiful, so yes we would recommend this hotel to everyone.

« Personnel at the reception desk were sympathetic and made us feel welcome »

The fact that we travel with a pet (albeit a small American cocker spaniel) doesn't always make it easy to find a welcoming place. However at the Jacksonville Best Western, as at all Best Western, we felt at home. The room was immaculate and personnel managed to steer us in the right direction for a decent meal downtown. We will definitely return and tell our friends.

As a frequent traveler, (200 plus hotel nights per year), it is always nice to find a welcoming home away from home. The Best Western Hotel/JTB Southside is just that. From the caring staff at check-in to check-out, I have always been treated well here. From the reasonable rates to the hotel breakfast , I would recommend this location for business or pleasure. When in Jacksonville, FL, this is my "go to" hotel.

On a recent bus trip from Gulfport, MS to Miami, our group stayed the first and last nights at this hotel in Jacksonville. Because of a trip we had to make to Richmond, VA, we followed the bus the first day and made arrangements to leave our van at the hotel for the four nights we were gone. The staff was most accommodating, making sure that they had our information and keeping an eye on our van while we were gone. Of course, the beds were comfy!!!!

« Roach Infested absolutly disgusting hotel, worst experiance ever, trying to get refund »

I booked this hotel through booking.com. How in the world this place has 4 stars from TripAdvisor is beyond me. Last night, we drove from Tennessee to Jacksonville, and drove straight from our home. When we arrived the gentleman that checked us in was very helpful and friendly. We waited very shortly and the front desk gentleman received a complaint of loud noise from a neighboring room. The hotel appeared clean upon entrance I did notice a slight musky smell but that can be expected from a older hotel. The guy did a wonderful job at check in and to be honest our problems we're beyond his control. We got our room and we're so tired we went up to the room. Our first question was why we had 2 beds and not 1 king bed when our confirmation clearly stated king. We thought that we might of got the wrong room. So I sat down on the side of the bed, when I picked up the phone roaches about 5 scattered. German baby cock roaches, to be exact. I looked where I was sitting and there we're roaches literally in the bed! We pulled back the covers on both beds and rushed out of that room if yall were staying on the 2nd floor I am very sorry if I screamed and woke yall up. So then my husband tries to calm me down in the elevator, and see if maybe another room would be ok because it was going to be hard to get a refund. I hesitantly agreed. The front desk apologized, I tried my best to be very low profile about the roaches. I would never try to disgrace a business unless rightfully so. So he offered to take 25 dollars from the price for the inconvenience, and gave us a new hotel room. The new room was on the 4th floor and I believe 428. That room I searched and the bed had looked dirty like it wasn't tightly made that even the lowest grade of hotel's maid staff has the ability to do. I pulled back the covers and there was a semi damp looking wet spot that seemed to be bodily fluids along with a few hairs that were the length of pubic hairs. Pulled back the other bed and it was what appeared to be a pee stain on the sheets. I feel as though whoever made that bed just pulled the covers back and threw the pillows on the bed. Scared that I would not get a refund and defiantly not up for trying another room, the security guard went up to the room with me and he confirmed with the front desk that what I told him was accurate. The front desk offered to take my night off and change the sheets, but I did not even want to chance getting roaches in my luggage and taking it home, or finding any new unpleasant surprises. The front desk ensured us that we would not be charged for the room, so we left in hopes of finding a new clean hotel. When we pulled out of the parking lot we check our phone with a nearly 200$ charge to our card for 2 nights from Best Western. So because our bank limits our transactions to $400 a day and we had bought gas and food, we had to stay at Jacksonville beach zombie tired. To get my money back, I have called the hotel who says I must get the travel agency to allow the refund. So we called corporate, who is also hard to reach. We also went to the bank showed them the pictures of our room and what happened and the email that the booking agency told the hotel to authorize our refund. They told us that we can claim fraud if they refuse to return the money to us. Had this situation been handled better I probably would had left some of these details to our self, so that the hotel could fix the problems. I felt like the atmosphere of the hotel was a little grimy and would not pay $29.99 for the hotel because I feel it was the absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had. This was for booking March 15 to March 17, Jason White, if Best Western would Like to Verify, do not even cross me unless you would like to handle business appropriately because I will also upload the pics of the room from my camera as soon as I get home from vacation. I have filed a corporate complaint with Arizona office who we're disgusted with the issues we had. I absolutely would not let them touch your Card with out first experiencing the room for your self. Check the drawers, behind the pictures for bugs, and stained dirty sheets. I feel the hotel may of once been great, but needs serious upgrades and better property maintenance/ house keeping. We tipped the front desk guy and security guards because it was in no way their fault.

« All I can say is OK »

Room was dirty and bathroom had mildew around the tub. At night there seemed to be a lot of door slamming, talking and yelling but that has more to do with the type of people that stayed there when we did. I could have spent the extra fifty dollars to stay at a better hotel and looking back I should have.

Overall this was a great place to stay. One of the hotel's dryers was broken and there were not towels or washcloths in the room. Also there was no soap or shampoo. When we requested them from the desk clerks, they were apologetic, gave us the shampoo and soap, and offered to bring the linens when they were dry. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean except for used soap in the bathtub. The lobby was clean and the decor was nice. The breakfast was the usual Best Western breakfast which has choices for all, eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, juice, muffins etc. We would definitely stay at the hotel again if the chance arises.

    « Disappointed »

The room was clean and the staff helpful. I discovered that the room I signed up for with my AARP does not have a microwave or fridge. The rate was not low end. In fact it was higher than similar hotels in that neighbourhood. When I asked the staff, they said those require an "upgraded category". When booking I saw "free breakfast, free WiFi, free coffee machine..." and assumed that a microwave and fridge are included too, since those are standard at most mid-level hotels. When I mentioned that these are standard at other places, the receptionist told me that "each Best Western is individually owned and operated so the service varies". I'll be sure to read the fine print when booking in the future !

« Wow is all I can say. »

So, here I go. First off LaTonia at the front desk is amazing. She was sweet, professional, and apologetic. Please keep in mind I travel every month! No I don't post every time I do, but I try. With that being said, here we go... I traveled with my mother and 7 year old son. They put us in a single queen size room, instead of a double. When I called down to the fron desk they really didn't try to fix it, I was then transfered to another man, a manager, and finally allegedly the owner who was patronizing, condescending, and unprofessional. He actually had the audacity to threaten me, and accused me of blackmail. I told him I was going to blog about this, and so here I am. If I can save one traveler from this awful experience, that is my intention. Not to lie or blackmail or anything of the sort. I'm a legal professional, and I would never put my profession or reputation on the line to "blackmail" anyone. I have much more respect for myself and my profession to do that. Regardless, the facts are the same they did nothing to try and fix the situation. They had no cots or roll aways to offer us for my son to sleep on. I was forced to make him a pathetic excuse for a bed with a chair that was in the room, and a cooler we had brought for the beach. They did manage to bring us a pillow and some blankets. They really didn't care how or where my son slept. Which was completely unacceptable to me. They alleged that they were sold out, and had no rooms to transfer us to, and as I previously stated no cots or roll aways. Which stated on my reservation would be made available. I called my travel agent who also spoke with a manager and the front desk, and my agent said that they were extremely rude to her as well. I use this agency and only this agency to book all my resevations, I even use the same agents. They did not offer her any means to fix the issue, and she as well felt they couldn't be bothered. My agent checked my reservation on her end and it showed two adults and a child, but somehow in transition it got changed to two adults only. As I previously stated I travel every month, and always with two adults and a child. It doesn't matter if it is business or pleasure. My travel agent even said as much. That NEVER in 7 years had I not traveled that way. Honestly, I don't care who, or how the mistake happened, but I did, and this establishment did absolutely nothing to fix it. Nor did anyone in upper management try to fix it, or apologize. Was I upset? You are dog gone right I was. I must admit the hotel was clean for the most part, a little dusty where things hadn't been moved and dusted, but for the most part clean. To be completely frank, if they had offered a reasonable solution, a bed of some sort for my son, a genuine apology, a discount. I don't know anything that showed they actually cared I would have given them at least three stars. The brush off just didn't cut it. This was supposed to be a fun weekend at Monster Jam for my son who is sick. ??

« Great value, location and access »

Friendly staff at front desk as well as the housekeepers. WiFi was spotty and in and out, must have had a lot of people connected to it as it came in and out. Housekeepers were very friendly but could have done a better job cleaning the room. The room was very, very nice (the one we had) and looked recently remodeled. The complimentary breakfast was good for value but the hours need to be extended by at least 1/2 hour. It was a GREAT hotel and we will return on our next visit to Jax as we have family who recently moved to there. I highly recommend this hotel!!!

    « Good price but.... »

We booked online while travelling through the Jacksonville area. Found good deal especially with the Canadian dollar so weak right now. Front desk staff were polite and the common areas very clean. Well lit parking lot and that's about it. Upon entering our room it appeared ok until my wife went to use the toilet, urine and pubic hair around and in the bowl. The tap in shower constantly runs. The toilet runs every 5-8 minutes, so obviously needs adjusting. Upon looking around room we noticed several red pieces of plastic clearly visible to anyone, just under bed skirt numerous other white and red pieces of plastic. The bed sheets had few pieces of hair. (Hopefully only from staff making the bed and nothing else) I am concerned as to how well the floors are cleaned if these obvious things are overlooked. I called for someone to clean the toilet 35-40 minutes ago and although apologetic, I have not heard back yet. Would be nice to go to sleep soon as going on 11:30 pm and have two more days of driving yet.

« You don't always get what you think you paid for »

We booked this last-minute through hotels.com for a drive from Virginia to Fort Lauderdale. We chose this property over a less-expensive one because they had a ?business center' with a printer, which was essential ? our home printer had gone south and we'd had no time to replace it before we left for our cruise. Pros: very polite and (mostly) helpful staff. The free breakfast is plentiful (if pretty standard fare), and the wifi speed decent. The bed had some of the softest sheets I've encountered in a budget hotel. The location is convenient, as it's directly off I-95. But . . . Cons: I-95 in the area of the hotel is hopelessly torn up/lane redirected for road construction. We were not the only vehicle who mistook the exit back onto the interstate for the exit for the hotel, only to have to loop back. The office park in which the hotel sits has no clear signage as to how to exit the labyrinth of one-way lanes and parking lots. The ?business center? consists of a computer and printer in an alcove in the first floor walkway around the corner from the front desk. When I tried to print boarding passes and luggage tags for our cruise, we learned that their computer blocked screen pdf ?downloads' ? including temporary documents created online. You know, like boarding passes. And luggage tags. The staff gave no suggestions as to a workaround. The queen bed room we booked was adequate, though not spacious. The hotel is in the process of renovating: we thought we'd been booked into one of the newer rooms because of the new carpeting in the bedroom area. However, the ceramic wood-look tile installed in the entry and bathroom was poorly done (sloppy grouting), and the tile and finishes around the tub install are clearly NOT new. The HVAC unit in the space was not the quietest we'd ever experienced. We arrived the weekend of a statewide FFA conference. Perhaps that's why there was so much noise/activity going on around the outside pool, directly below our window at 10 pm. We also discovered that SR 202 is a favorite for drag racing maniacs. Finally, the crush in the ?breakfast area' ? really, a conference room repurposed for this use ? thanks to said conference attendees made it impossible for us to find a place to sit down and eat (to say nothing about actually getting to the food). My partner and I put together a plate of selections, grabbed a couple of travel cups of orange juice, and hit the road. Would I stay at this property again? Possibly, at the right price. But it'd have to be a really, really good one.

The service is excellent, the front desk staff are so friendly and helpful. Bridget at the front desk is always smiling and gives you a warm welcome like you are part of the family. This location is the best not far from the beach, just off of express way, plenty of places to eat near by, and just down the road from St Johns Town Center. The rooms are very nice and clean, well lighted parking lot which is important to me. They also have a place to walk your dog. Animals are treated as special guest also. I have stayed at many hotels and I assure you this hotel is at the top of the list. I love the employees that work there and everything about this place. I just feel as though I can't say enough about this Hotel. Can't wait to return and see my new friends I have met there. The Employees are number 1. « Overpriced, Lack of Service »

This is a decent appearing hotel, the rooms are clean. It is pricey, and if you have any type of problem, the staff seems unable to help fix anything. Beware of the elevators - one of the two SMALL elevators broke over the weekend, with a sold out hotel, and they simply left it out of service all weekend. Huge lines on all floors, with people waiting to be able to go up or down with all their stuff on the weekend. This same hotel had elevator issues last year when our event used them. I'd recommend staying somewhere else in the future. Poor lighting in rooms, cheap pillows. Our refrigerator broke and stuff spoiled.

« RATING OUR STAY AT BEST WESTERN »

Our stay was excellent (set up - food - service) However, there was a very strong odor of mildew in the bathroom, especially when the shower was turned on. This situation is unhealthy and unpleasant. We reported it to the front desk and we were compensated. This problem should be corrected as it could have very negative effect on young children as well as adults. We will continue to use Best Western because they are very accessible in our travels and the accommodations are generally satisfactory. We strongly advise that you attend to this situation. We were in room 513.

« Nice place, I will definitely return »

My rating is for hotels in it's class. I needed a hotel that was in the Jacksonville area for one night and I chose the Best Western Southpoint. It's just of I-95 in a nice quiet Office Park area. The grounds are well kept and there is ample free parking both in front and back of the hotel. It's a 6 story building with 2 elevators. The Lobby was spotless and probably just refurbished, it looked new. Check in was easy and the staff were pleasant and efficient. I had a lot of luggage and appreciated the large luggage carts they provided. My 1 Queen bed room was moderate in size, but ample for 2. It was clean and well furnished. There is a desk in one corner and a 50 inch tv with most cable channels and 4 free HBO channels. The bathroom is modern, and ample, but on the small side. The room was quiet except for the low noise of the A/C/. The bed was on the firm side and that was perfect for me. I slept well. Breakfast was good, with hard cooked eggs, egg patties, sausage patties, biscuits, pre-made waffles, excellent sausage gravy as well as cereal, sweet buns and juices. It's not up to Pancake House standards, but quite satisfying and acceptable. Check out was easy too. I like this place and think it's very reasonably priced for the experience. I take this trip twice a year and I will be back again. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a well priced mid tier, nicely kept hotel.

« Friendly, helpful staff and clean rooms.. »

Our room here was very basic, with no fridge or microwave, but clean and comfortable. Loved that the TV had plenty of HD channels, while staff were very friendly and accommodating. We did not see any eating options within walking distance, which would appear to be the only downside to this hotel. Breakfast was served by a very friendly attendant who ensured the selection was fresh and well stocked, greeting everyone with a big smile and "Good morning". The housekeeping staff were also friendly and engaging, wishing us a safe trip - very nice personal touches ! With no microwave in our room, the front desk staff were good enough to pop our popcorn for us.While parts of this hotel looked a little tired, the warm and friendly staff made up for it, while my wife and I both felt we were receiving good value for our money. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Great Stay »

They are great here. Very nice people. The hotel is getting better. Been staying here for the past 4 years. The updates on the rooms are very nice. Will stay here again next time I'm in town.It is very easy to get in and out. Close to mall and good places to eat.

    « Close to work »

Overall it was a good stay. However, I was booked into a room on the second floor just above the smoking floor. I could smell cigar smoke both days. Overall, it was clean. However, I didn't know when I booked my room for the fantastic price I recieved, I wasn't able to have a frig or a microwave. It was $10 more per night.

« Great stop if going to the Mayo »

Fabulous staff, good breakfast, and convenient. Room could have been cleaner. In great location if you're going to the Mayo. Good restaurants deliver to the property. I would definetly use this property again.

    « The Worst Western »

In the first room they gave us, the air con was going full blast but the heater didn't work. Outside it was 39 degrees. Yes, this happens in Florida. The sheets were sandpaper and bumpy and there was no guide to TV stations. So they gave us another room. The heater worked and the sheets were smoother but that one stank of dog urine. So they put us in another room. That one smelled like moldy mushrooms. So they put us in another and it smelled like heavy air freshener so tired out, we stayed put for the night. Breakfast was dire. Moved out at daybreak.

    « Business Trip »

Hotel is very good. Located just off the interstate and very convenient to downtown area without having to pay the higher prices. Rooms, Wi-Fi, facilities and amenities in the room were fine. Good breakfast with various options. Hotel staff was very nice. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Price for the room is excellent.

    « Bathroom problems »

The bathtub water was running when we came into the room. The tub fixtures where apart laying the tub as if someone was working the bathtub. The toilet was not flushing properly. The toilet overflowed but when I told the service desk they did not seem concerned about this situation. She did mentioned that she would contact the maintenance department.

    « Footbal »

Nice hotel at fair price. Convenient to Park n ride for FL vs GA Football game. I have booked every year for many years. Also convenient to the many branches of Jacksonville including the beaches, shopping at Avenues, Regency, St Johns' Town Center, and of course downtown.

« Good value and decent hotel »

Good value and I would stay again for an overnight stop when you need to. Hotel was clean, receptionists very nice and helpful both times, bed mostly comfortable, perhaps just a bit hard but sleepable, and there is a tiny bit of highway noise, but its alright. Stayed on 6th floor and room and bathroom were clean and fresh. Breakfast was mediocre, but fine for a quick bite. Coffee was not good really, they should add liquid cream, I found that it was too bitter to drink. Area feels safe too. Hard to find freeway when you want to leave. If you need to get to freeway, drive across street to Quadrant and drive 3-4 blocks in industrial business park to first cross street. Go left and there is the entrance to 202. Wish I'd known that, that was the only difficult part but now that I know how to get there, its fine. Generally, if you need good value, and decent place, this is just the ticket. I do recommend, thanks.

« Happy with Value of Hotel »

Good value for me, I was here for one night and only needed a place to sleep nothing fancy. Hotel was in good shape and seemed clean and fresh, (no chemical smells here.) Both receptionists were excellent both times, extremely helpful and kind. Bed was fair - slightly hard for me, but ok. Only issue was the coffee needs improvement, and would like to have the option of liquid cream for coffee, they only had the powder cream packets and the coffee was too bitter. Breakfast was half edible with a variety of things, flat sausage and scrambled egg patties, biscuit and gravy (not yet warmed though), yogurt, small pastry and mini muffins but fine to grab a quick bite from. Room was decent, I did not use Wifi, but I liked the Pantene shampoo. I was pleased with price and value and nice people at the desk. Good value for overnight. Thanks!

« What a Wonderful Stay After a Long Drive! »

This Best Western is an absolute gem in all ways and was a wonderful stopping point during our tenuous drive south on I-95. It is a tremendous property located directly off of I-95 and nestled in a very nice area with about six other hotels. Although there is construction on I-95, once we got into the parking lot we had an absolutely great experience from parking our car to leaving the next morning! Parking is no problem at all and there is parking in the front and especially in the rear for oversized vehicle, vans, trucks, etc. The swimming pool is located at the rear as well and is absolutely huge with privacy from those leaving their cars and entering the hotel from the back of the facility. The front desk/reception area is immaculate with Joel the night clerk being an absolute ambassador for the hotel! He answered numerous inquiries from us and was most professional in his directions. The rooms were large, the internet worked great, and everything was clean and most comfortable! Breakfast in the morning was served in a large room just down from the lobby and had a fantastic assortment of cereals, eggs, sausages, waffles, gravy, biscuits, yogurt, toast, etc. Much more than your usual hotel for sure! The area was kept clean and stocked by a very persistent and delightful employee who was cheerful and very attentive. Overall the entire stay at this Best Western was superb and we will definitely stay again. The only slight negative was that it did not have a cafe or restaurant for the evening meal purposes but there were plenty of other options in the area.

    « First disappointment »

I have always found that Best Western is the "Go-To" hotel.... I have never been disappointed until this stay. I'm not so sure that the bathroom had been cleaned? There were only 2 towels. No Toilet paper, dirty faucet and splatters on the mirror upon arrival. I had just checked out of the Ext. Stay off of Prudential due to unclean conditions. I bought some lysol wipes and cleaned the room....I will not recommend this location but I will not lose faith in Best Western.... Jacksonville is just dirty.

« Good room for the price »

The price was right. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problem was the bathroom light was out. We slept well. Breakfast was great. It included eggs, waffles sausage and more. Enjoyed the coffee. I was able to read the free Today paper in the morning. This wash good stay for the price.

« Traveling with a pet made easier. »

Our daughter gave my husband a new dog for his birthday which we were very happy to receive. But then traveling with "Belle" became the question. Being Pet Friendly for us was a must. JTB/Southpoint was a great location and made the trip to Jacksonville very comfortable for us. We have stayed there before without a pet and were always very satisfied, too. We appreciate a clean, well maintained Hotel with People Friendly Employees.

    « Tues night Oct 27 »

Hotel looked nice on outside. We had Room 111. It had no refrigerator. Hallway and room smelled very musty. The top shelf of the closet had a dirty washcloth tucked into a corner and looked like it had been there for days. The breakfast was decent but it had those dry round wafer eggs that lacked any taste.

« Staff doing their best with what they have »

Stayed 3 nights for business. Perfectly located to get anywhere from. Located just on interstate 95 and easy axcess to Downtown, Beaches, St. Augustine, USF, and area shopping. States under construction, did not see any improvements being made during my stay. I did notice a musty, humid feeling through the hotel as if the A/C units were not performing property, and the entire hotel lost Cable / Dish Service for 1/2 the day. In no way would I blame the Manager or staff for the obvious lack of support from its owners to offer a quality product for its visitors. Employees seem to be trying very hard to keep location a float with a cinder block. To sum things up, it's not a bad place to rest your head but would not want to stay if I was expecting any type of "family" or "Vacation" type stay.

    « Great experience »

I recently stayed at this best western location. If was conveniently located, extremely clean, not to mention had fantastic amenities and staff. I usually stay with best western when I travel, and I believe this location was the best experience yet. Thanks for a great stay! Would definitely recommend if you're staying in the Jacksonville are!

    « Handicapped room lacking »

Hotel offered a Mayo Clinic rate which was very reasonable. The handicapped room was not furnished with a microwave or refrigerator as other rooms were. The table did not have a chair which would allow you to sit and operate a lap top. The chairs were very low and faced the bed. A person with bad knees would be unable to get up from the chairs. The last night, the bathroom light went out, maintenance arrived, switched it off and on rapidly and it came back on. No repairs done. The morning of check out the light was out again and I was able to get back on by rapidly switching it off and on. The bed side lamp bulb blew. I reported both items as we checked out.

    « Could be better »

The Good: Air worked great. No bugs seen. Nice T.V. The Bad: The smell, some sort of chemical. The toilet ran. Fridge broken and stinky. Extra lock on door was broken. No tissues. The Ugly: Clearly been a while since this room had a thorough cleaning.

« We were visiting Jacksonville to attend the symphony and shop. »

Fortunately our visit coincided (unplanned) with the arrival of hurricane Juaquin at the coast of South Carolina. We extended our stay by 2 days TWICE to be sure the storm had passed and we had passable travel home. The staff was very thoughtful and since we were stranded, the hotel kept our rates consistent through the weekend. We have two more trips planned in the near future and will base our stay here.

« A great place to stop for the night »

The room was very clean and the person at the front desk very helpful. It was a great location close to the I95 while travelling from southern florida on our way home North to Canada. The beds and the pillows were very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was excellent.

    « Very nice »

Great atmosphere very clean loved it :) Very convenient to the Dave and busters. Decently priced at such at last minute. Very fast check in they got us right on in. Love the rewards that I signed up for. Check out was a breeze. Very nice employees.

« Good price, need to attend to details better »

3 relatively small issues with the room. Bathroom fan ran but did not blow any air. Thant's could be an electrical fire hazard. Bedside lamp was unplugged behind nightstand. No laundry bag. Complimentary breakfast was nice. Price was very reasonable.

« Not as clean as in the past... »

The room was not up to the standards when we previously (2 times) stayed at this hotel. There were some large stains on the carpet and most of the TV channels did not work. We are members of the rewards club, I thought they would treat us better...and I was disappointed.

« Okay but not up to Best Western standards »

This hotel was okay but not close to other Best Westerns that I have stayed at. It appeared that renovations were going on and it seems like they are needed. The hotel feels like a mix of tired/worn out and fresh/new. Hopefully it will continue to move forward and achieve the Best Western quality that we expect.

    « A Good night's rest »

We were exhausted from a long day of traveling and arrived prety late. We went upstairs, went to bed and then got up and left the next morning. The BW JTB/Southpoint provided just what we needed. A clean, comfortable and quiet night of rest.

« Behind of others hotels of the brand »

I've already stay in another locations of the brand and always you have a microwave, a mini fridge, a in room safe, well this one didn't. Pool : no jets or jacuzzi. Room, cleaning, ok. Check in was fast despite that there was only one employee at the front desk, it was around 8pm, , and was having some reservation problem with the customer that was preceding me. It seems that only one clerk at that time is not enough ( they have 2 people during morning hours) Breakfast room was crowded and you have to wait in line. Location good if you have to go downtown, a little far away from the beaches

    « Disappointed »

Very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. They are undergoing a remodel but our room and the hallways smelled of fragrance to cover up other odors. Bathroom fan was loud and there was a musty odor. The lobby was clean and updated....the breakfast was good but the room was too small....

    « Excellent hotel »

We enjoyed our brief stay here. The staff were helpful and friendly. We asked for a lower floor and were supposed to be on the 6th floor. When I commented about that, the clerk switched us to a suite on the 2nd floor. THe breakfast was also good.

    « Great Stay »

JBT Best Western has a great location with easy access. Their staff was very pleasant and went the extra mile . The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed.. Breakfast was outstanding with a good combination of both hot and cold menu items to choose from. Look forward to another stay here when i'm back in town.

    « Awsome Visit »

Working in customer service myself it felt great to go some place with great customer service. upon arriving every employee I came in contact with was smiling and made it their point to speak to me before I could say anything. The Associate at the front counter and the manager greeted me and offered suggestions of fun relaxing things to do during my stay there. My room was nice and clean as was the hotel itself. Internet worked great I really couldn't find a thing to complain about. Great Job guys. If your in Jacksonville Florida this is a great place to stay.

    « Horrible breakfast »

The breakfast selection at this Best Western was horrible. The eggs, waffle, sausage were cold, There were no bagels, english muffins or any assortment of breads. Beside that there was a big cockroach in the room.

    « Good value »

Best bargain in the area. I was attending a conference next door at the Jacksonville Marriot. The rate at the Best Western JTB/Southpoint was $100 less/night than the conference "special rate". The hotel is clean and the Wi-FI was good. The stay includes a breakfast, but I did not eat breakfast at the hotel. Good value for the money. Staff was very helpful and my room was clean. The Dave and Buster's down the street was a good place to eat.

    « Just Right »

Very Nice stay for a reasonable price, It is as nice as their competitors for a better price. Very friendly staff, Close to everything in the City. Keep up the good work We had a small problem with the A/C unit and they relocated us within 2 minuets. Very helpful front desk at check-in We will be back in 3 months. for the past year we have been staying at a much more expensive chain and this was every bit as good or better.

    « Sufficient »

Our stay here was satisfactory. The room was clean, though the bathroom could be updated. At check-in, there was one clerk and numerous people arriving for check-in, so there was a bit of a wait. Though the staff was efficient and friendly, the forced greetings were over the top and a little awkward. It was odd that they had room service menus in the rooms, but we were told that had not been offered in years. The location is strange in that you have to go through an office complex parking lot to exit the hotel and area. All in all it was sufficient and I would probably stay here again.
