    « Clean but Delapidated »

The room was clean but dated, and the pool was nice. The doors to the room look like they're right out of 1975, and function like they're from 1875. You have to put your shoulder into it to get it to open. At the breakfast, I served my kids, and while I was getting myself food, I heard my son loudly crunching something. It was a pancake. The hot food was not edible. And they're dead serious about the breakfast ending time, because they'll pack it all up at 9:00 sharp as you sit there eating. I don't know if maybe prices in the area are higher than average, but it seemed expensive for a below-average hotel.

« Clean, Good Quality for Price »

For an older property the hotel is very clean. For the price, the hotel was better than I expected. Breakfast was served in the lobby and was pretty good. There are a number of other amenities close by.

« Charger Fever Group Stay »

We come here every year for 17 years for Charger Fever in September. The place has come a long way from what it used to look and be like in those years. This stay was even better - rooms as always were neat and clean with up to date furnishings. They offer free wi-fi. They now have added an Italian Restaurant to the property and it was great. The staff and Chef were warm, welcoming and made sure that your dinner was exactly what you wanted. We will be back for our next stay soon.

    « Quiet comfortable sleep »

We were just passing through looking for a place to rest for the night. Picked a good one, here. We were too late for the pool, but the rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was the best I've slept in. Comfortable and quiet. Staff was friendly and the continental breakfast had something for everyone. Don't let the motel feel keep you from booking this one. Highly recommend for a good night's sleep.

    « Red Coach Inn »

As a 3 star place the motel was just fine. When working down the miles all I really want is a good bed, a good shower, and good air/heat. The room was nice and clean, the bed was a pretty good bed. the shower was updated and gave good pressure. The pool looked like a nice sized one for doing a few laps. Breakfast was pretty good; motels of this quality try to compete with each other and breakfast is an area of competition. Lots of hot offerings, typical cereals and toastables. Good coffee. Nice stay for the money. Good service at the counter too.

« Comfortable but we had a problem »

Room was comfortable but not a A+; breakfast was good, crew was friendly & helpful. The problem was -- in the late evening the circuit breaker for our bathroom area tripped. No GFI on the outlet. Went to the office and the evening manager had one of the crew go to the circuit box to try to reset. No success. So we ended up using a self- supplied flashlight for showers, bathroom use etc. Not terrible but not very classy. Spoke to one of the regular maintenance crew the next AM, who simply shook his head and said he expected they'd be tearing into the wiring later in the day. I hope it is fixed before next occupant checks in...

    « Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover »

This Best Western doesn't sport the latest, greatest curb appeal, as it is an older establishment - in fact, when I first drove by it, I wondered if anyone really stayed there. My daughter and I weren't planning an overnight stay, but a severe thunderstorm with flooding changed our minds about traveling, so I checked prices for the three hotels I saw in town. We like to stay at Best Western for their Rewards Program, but this one looked a little "sketchy" (as my daughter would say). I decided to try it out based on a couple trip advisors who indicated they were pleased. Check-in was great; the gentleman handling our arrival was mannerly and helpful. he thoroughly explained breakfast for guests, how to use the television remote, and just had a pleasant conversation, which was very welcoming. Off we went to our room. My daughter said, "This should be interesting" as we had to give the door to our room a little kick to get it open. It WAS interesting! The room was fantastic! No weird odor, beautifully updated and very clean. There was a refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, iron and ironing board and digital alarm clock. Granite counter top by bathroom sink area. This room even had a full-length mirror - always nice to have! The bed was comfortable - not exceptionally firm - but we sleep well. Plenty of pillows. There is an indoor pool available, but we didn't investigate that amenity. Breakfast included many items from which to choose such as orange and apple juices, milk, yogurt with several toppings available, cold cereals, pastries, toast, bagels, apples, biscuits and gravy, a scrambled egg/hashbrown dish with salsa and cheddar cheese on the side, french toast, and pancakes.A worker promptly cleaned-up and put away all breakfast items at 9:00; another hotel guest arrived ten minutes later while I was finishing my food, and was disappointed because they had missed-out. (They should've had the hotel give them a wake-up call...) I highly recommend this hotel - you know the 'ol saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover!"

« Poor service "just following rules" »

I am riding a bicycle cross country. I was at the end of my rope at about 1:30 and tried to get a room. I was told he couldn't check anyone in until after 3. Those were the rules. Even though I am a Gold Crown member he refused to let me check in. It's a good I didn't make a reservation so I didn't have to cancel it. Anyway crossed the street and checked into the hotel directly across the highway.

    « Very Good Hotel.. »

Would surely stay there again if I was in El Dorado..Rooms were clean, staff was professional and courteous.. an overall good experience..!! We were in town for my daughters wedding and everyone from our party that stayed here seemed to be pleased. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in a long time...

    « Good Stay »

This was a clean and quiet hotel. The breakfast was really good which offered pancakes, french toast, sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal, etc. The bed was a bit soft, but my back never was sore. The only problem we had was the air conditioner never cooled the room down, and I was sweating all night. But, the next day when we came back, it was freezing cold, but it was adjustable and it was working right. They wouldn't give me a discount over the $79/ a night, unless I was military or had AAA. Lastly, they will not allow early check-in before 3:00 PM, unless you are willing to pay an extra $15.00. What a rip-off! This is the only hotel that I have stayed at that does this. MOST hotels will accommodate us if there is a room available.

« Hotel for stopping in for sleep after a long drive »

This hotel is fine if you are needing a place to sleep when you are on a long drive. Its an older motel, but the rooms are clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable and the breakfast selections were plentiful. I read the prior reviews and was hesitant about staying here, but it turned out fine for myself and my husband. I dont know if we just got luky with the room we got or if all were like ours. I would stay here again, if needing a place to rest my head on a long drive.

« Adequate, but not by much. »

I stay at Best Western motels quite a lot. Some are very nice and then some are like this one. Very old. Gaps in doors, sheets very thin, towels very thin and ragged. You have to push the 'COX' button on the remote to make the TV work. I found this out when I checked out. Pet friendly, but claimed they needed to inspect our room before we left to make sure the dog didn't tear it up. My dog is a better guest than 90% of the people in motels. I am a Diamond Rewards Club member and they also had my credit card on file in case they foynd anything destroyed or missing. Took a long time to check in, since I was using rewards points. Not up to date on procedure for this I guess. Caused a lot of confusion. Took even longer to check out because they had overcharged the taxes and pet fee. They really need to get on board with the Rewards process. All in all, not a very good place. We will probably try the Super 8 across the highway next time and not worry about getting my Best Western Rewards points.

    « Very Old. »

Hotel is so old there are gaps around the door. Towels are ragged and bedsheets so thin you could see thru them. They treat you like a bad person if you have a pet even though its pet friendly. Do yourself a favor and stay across the street at the new Super 8.

    « Average hotel »

We were on a road trip and just needed a place to sleep. This hotel/motel was clean but rather average. Our main frustration was that it took over 30 minutes to check in. There was one person ahead of us and the clerk seemed to have to fill out a lot of paper work for each of us. We were tired and very disappointed we had to wait so long. We would have gone elsewhere but just didn't have the energy. Again, though a fine place to spend the night.

« Older style in very good shape »

The building is an older style with all exterior door leading out into the parking. The pool is in a separate building, but the rooms are very clean with nice newer furniture and fittings. The person who checked me in was very friendly. The bathrooms are an older style but are a nice size with a large counter/sink in the room. Room had enough room for port-a-crib we brought.

« Always a pleasure to stay here »

We've been staying here every year since 2001. The Red Coach Inn is a host hotel for the Charger Fever meet/group and have been using this hotel since 1998. The location is excellent for what this group needs. This stay we had a problem with the entry door sticking, reported the problem and the front desk gave an additional 500 points for reporting and putting up with the problem until check out. Very good customer service. Will be back next year!

« Great place to stay »

The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The staff went out of their way to may sure everything was to our liking and that we were comfortable. It would be nice if the pool stayed open a little longer. The breakfast was good and you had plenty to choose from.

« Amazing what a smile can do »

My wife and I were traveling cross country, and this was our first unscheduled stop. We had a couple of options in the same price range. We chose this one because the check in clerk at the Super 8 across the street acted like we were interrupting her day, while the check in clerk here answered all of our questions with a smile. Additionally, the room was clean, and the furnishings, while a little dated, were comfortable. Additionally, while there was no work out room, El Dorado has the best YMCA (better equipped and staffed than any gym I've ever been a member of) just five minutes away. The stay here had me convinced and I joined the best western rewards program, and we stayed at two more best westerns on the way to our destination. Only gave four out of five based on the waiver we had to sign saying we wouldn't throw any pool parties while we were there, and while breakfast was hot, they ran out quickly, though I attribute that to a large group that went through before my wife and I like a swarm of locusts through a wheat field. Additionally, there is a steak house just next door so you don't have to travel far for a good meal. Overall though, a better stay than I've had with other hotels (see my review on the Americ Inn of Pella if you want to know what poor service rates like).

    « Good value »

I checked in early and was given a large room on the ground floor. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good but not exceptional. There a several restaurants within walking distance. The TV was what you would expect.

« Average to Ok Room »

My husband and I were in the area on a genealogy trip just for a couple of days. We chose this hotel because it was rated the best on Tripadvisor. The room was clean and the staff were nice. So the hotel room was ok. But here is what the new owner needs to work on: the lobby area is small and only holds a half dozen or so tables for the breakfast buffet...not near enough room. And we noticed the desk person was also taking care of the buffet. She was very nice but she needed help! The outside door to the room did not seal well so mosquitoes or other small ceepy crawlies could easily get in. The faucets to the sink and shower were very hard to turn on. And last but not least, the button on the push button toilet was VERY hard to push. These are all things that are very easily taken care of with a few repairs, so hopefully the new owner will take care of these things very soon. But it was very clean and the staff very accommodating.
