    « Great hotel »

We stay at this hotel a couple of times a year when visiting family. We always are pleased with the cleanliness and size of the rooms. All of the ladies at the front desk are very friendly and welcoming.

    « Very good »

Good location in the middle of Dewey Beach and on the same block as the beach. Very nice staff and comfortable rooms and a decent free breakfast (scrambled eggs, waffles, fancy coffee machine etc). Definitely would stay here again.

« Wear your flip flops at all times »

Location was great. However, hotel was in need of a renovation. Carpet in hallways and in room needed to be replaced. Staff was very nice but we had this kind of yuk feeling most of the time. It was lower priced that the Hyatt which was across the street. Kind of a strange layout with parking garage on each level. You are literally three houses from the beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants. If the property was updated it would be a real gem.

« Very weird room experience. »

The room we had wasn't even within the closed glass door hallways as the other rooms. I was in the dank parking garage up a few steps. The room also had a musty odor and we only had a shower no tub. When I made the reservation I also told them I was a rewards customer so this room was a shock for anyone no less a rewards customer. Breakfast was just ok. For what I paid for this room on off season I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

« clean room free breakfast »

We recently spent two nights at the Best Western. The Hotel is one block from the beach. We could see the Bay and the Ocean from our 3rd floor room. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The building could use some updating. There are no balconies. The room has double doors that you can open and stand at the rail for the view. The free breakfast had waffles, scrambled eggs, danish, bagels, muffins. It has a parking garage which makes it easy for entry if you park on the same level as your room.

    « Wheelchair friendly »

Just spent a couple days here with my wife who is a patient of a nursing home . The room was set up well for a handicapped person . Beds were lower . Bathroom was roomy and had a shower that could accominate a wheelchair and had a bench in shower that folds down . A continental breakfast was included . There was a step up to get in , but i asked and was brought in another entrance . Definetely will stay here again . Good location on the coastal highway ocean side . Right across from the Rusty Rudder restaraunt . Mike Hale

    « Well...maybe?? »

It was just "ok". We love Dewey, thought we'd try something a little different in the -off- season. Not really great, not really horrible, basic bed and shower. Staff was "indifferent" to put it nicely. On the plus side: plenty of off street parking and decent complimentary breakfast. Don't think we'll be staying there again unless it's the only place left in town.

    « Just O.K. »

Very outdated! Room smelt like swamp cooler. Breakfast was just o.k. Rooms need to be sound proof. Noisy high way on ground floor. The fan in bathroom sounded like a helicopter taking off. Not impressed!

« Perfect place if you like stale cigarette stench! »

Booked a non-smoking room and were clearly put in a smoking room. The cigarette smell was ungodly! When I confronted the front desk attendant, she said that it was a non-smoking room - lied right to my face. Even the hallways smelled like smoke! When I asked for another room I was told that there weren't any available yet the vacancy sign was lit the entire 3 days we were there.

Would highly recommend. It is clean. Great, helpful, friendly staff. Especially Lori at the desk. Very convenient to restaurants, shops and the beach is right there. Nice breakfast with friendly staff there too.

    « Beautiful Beach Vacation »

My wife and I loved this beach. Everything was right outside the door and a walk away. Food everywhere and Bars to your liking, This was the best beach trip ever. There are also other beaches just right down the road only a few miles away, and a shuttle to take you there to shop and walk the boardwalk of the other beach. There are more beaches than I can name at this time. But they are Beautiful!!!!

    2
    « Not great »

Bedroom the carpet needed cleaning, came out of the shower feet dirty when walking to the bed. Staff ok but could have been more helpful,we were trying to book a ferry from Lewes to Cape May,struggling to get through on our own phones, asked the front desk would not make a local call for us. The hotel was booked by local fireman who were attending a convention, they took over half the breakfast room leaving other guests having to stand up eating their breakfast.

« Gold star instead of gold leaf!!!! »

Great place to stay!! It's right next to the beach and a ton of places to go to eat. We had a great time and we really enjoyed our stay. Lorie was so very, very helpful. She is a great asset to this property!! I would stay there again and again and again!!

    « Great location..friendly staff »

Stayed many times in this area..very friendly and helpful staff especially front desk person Lois...she went out of her way to n make this a great trip...good free breakfast. Free on site parking and short walk to beach...rooms a bit dated but clean and nice roof top pool...give it a try if in this area.

    « Family Vacation »

My family and I took our first official vacation to Dewey Beach this summer. We were very pleased with the hotel and the accommodations. The location can't be beat, and we went during "off season" so we didn't have to deal with crowds or too much noise.

    4
« Nice, clean, and cheap »

Nice location, clean rooms and better than I expected for $100 per night room. Nice simple rooftop pool and a parking deck to park in. Was able to grab our bikes and head back to poodle beach. Staff was very friendly too

« Great Clean Hotel in Dewey »

Stayed here for my bachlorette party and it was PERFECT! This hotel is right on the beach, it's clean and comfortable. The bed were really comfortable, the rooms were quite big and they were happy to give us, extra towels or shampoo, they staff was very accommodating. Each day they served a good selection for breakfast each and there was a good size roof top pool when we wanted a break from the beach. . Even more the staff is amazing! I would absolutely stay here again, the hotel was cleaned every day (you couldn't even tell there was an crazy Dewey night activity) becasue the hotel was so clean and immaculate.

    3
    « Decent hotel »

The best thing about this hotel is the location - it is right near the beach. Almost no hotels in Dewey are actually on the beach, so this is about as close as you can get. The staff are friendly and corrected a problem with how I was billed pretty easily. The jacuzzi tub in (some) of the King suites is nice, though a bit dated. Our bed was never made or the sheets changed - which isn't great at the beach, so that's a minus. Also - unless you have kids, or really like waffles, skip the breakfast. Grab some coffee and walk to somewhere else.

    5
« Nice hotel, close to the beach »

This hotel is real close to the beach and on the "main" strip. With in walking distance of most of the restaurants in this area. It has a roof top pool, gym, parking deck, and breakfast included. Great for a family stay. Our room was clean. We will be staying here again.

    « Decent Hotel »

My family stayed here for a short vacation. Typically, I would not consider this brand of hotel but most hotels were booked or overpriced. This hotel was pretty good for its class. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable enough. We booked the room with three beds for my family of four. The location is excellent, a short walk to the beach. You are also only a couple of minutes from Rehoboth Beach, 10 minutes from Bethany Beach and 15-20 minutes from Fenwick Island and Ocean City. Location could not be better. They do serve an included hot breakfast but the waffles were the only thing we really liked. The eggs and sausage were not good. They do have cereal, bagels and danishes also. Parking is free and onsite in their garage. The gym is small but they have one. The pool areal is nice, ate breakfast near the pool each morning but did not get in. Other than the breakfast, there were two other things we did not care for. Housekeeping comes too early. They were asking us if we wanted our room cleaned as early as 9am. This is too early for us as vacationers. Also for a room that could sleep up to six, not sure why only three towels were placed in the room. Housekeeping was always quick and responsive when we asked for more towels. Be aware that the AC unit is quite loud at times. Loud enough to disrupt your rest. This could be isolated to our room 309. We did have a small hiccup with check-in, the clerk kept telling me my card was not processing, I called my credit card company and they did not see where a charge was being attempted. Finally, another clerk told him he was not on the right screen to process the credit card. It took us over a half hour to get checked in. This is probably an anomaly but worth mentioning. Overall, this was a decent hotel for a short stay and a courteous staff.

« Quick get away to a different area »

We have been to the Dewey beach area and were told it was less crowded than rehoboth. That indeed was true. The hotel itself has very friendly staff. From front desk to maintenance everyone said hi as you passed. They were quick to recommend placed for questions we asked. The rooms were clean. Read balcony but it just French doors open to the street. The only reason it's not a 5 is the set up of the breakfast room. Quite a cluster. Plus only one person working it trying to maintain and clean tabled also was a mess. 50 yards to the beach was great.

« Wonderful staff and hotel »

Stayed her for our 10 year anniversary and it was great, clean room, clean lobby, nice breakfast, roof top pool. Close access to beach. Will def. be returning again we loved this trip and didnt want to leave

« Best we've stayed at in Dewey Beach »

The hotel was very nice and clean. In fact, it was much better than some of the other hotels we've stayed at in Dewey Beach. We were a little disappointed that it did not have a balcony, just french doors that opened to a view of the street. Also, the wifi is pretty weak. It will randomly disconnect your device. That probably doesn't matter to most people, but our teenage son was annoyed by it. However, the hotel was a short walk to the beach and had a nice breakfast included in the price of the room. My advice for families is to avoid spending Friday or Saturday nights here (or Dewey Beach, in general). The weekend crowd gets rowdy. We had people partying in the street outside of our room. By Sunday, the party crowd had left and everything was quiet again.

« Gold Leaf upgrade and beach location make it special. »

We've stayed at this hotel often, but the recent Gold Leaf upgrade makes it extra special. The rooms are not big, but very clean. (We checked carefully.) Indoor parking keep your car secure and out of the HOT sun. New gym equipment and upgraded pool on the roof are very nice. Great breakfast with a neat new coffee machine that can make cappuccino. Try the waffles. And the beach is just 50 yards away. Lots of night life just a few block away. Don't tell anyone but there is great free concert on Saturday night just 20 minutes south at Bethany Beach. Bring chairs. Did I mention the courteous staff? They were great.

« Great Hotel By The Beach »

The Gold Leaf Best Western Dewey Beach is conveniently located one block from the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff friendly and accomodating with a plentiful breakfast. My family and I enjoyed a few days at the beach before school started.

    4
« Excellent location, friendly staff »

An older beach hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Great location on beach side of main road. Decent sized rooms- we could easily fit an air bed into our double. We stayed for 4 nights, and had a great time. Only issue was laundry dryers did not work very well.

    4
« Nice hotel. Worth money »

First time on Dewey beach. It was a nice hotel. Breakfast was typical. Nothing fancy. Workers were super nice!! Decent and clean. Only downfall is there was no balcony to sit out on at night or morning coffee. Rooms were very spacious. Super close to the beach to walk. Lots of restaurants and places to visit around hotel. Jolly trolley pick up to rehoboth is right across street!

    3
« Does the trick for vacation at the beach »

Nothing fancy, but location is pretty good and close to the beach. Pool is tiny, and crowd is a bit rowdy (mostly students or young people drinking a bit too much). Hotel staff should be more vigilant and drinking alcohol should not be allowed at the pool.

    « Not a great value, probably won't return »

Wife and I stayed for three days in August on first floor room facing Coastal Highway. Noise from the highway was pretty bothersome into the early evening. Staff was friendly and helpful when approached. However, the elevator set up was awkward. Just one centrally located elevator, which we seldom used because we were on the far side of the building. There was a pretty decent little work out area on 4th floor, but only a small changing/restroom pretty far away and often busy. Roof pool is pretty small, okay for little kids. Our room had decent amenities, including refrig, microwave, coffee station. Biggest issue: As a side sleeper had trouble getting solid night's sleep due to the hard (cheap?) mattresses. Also had to crank up AC and its noise to deal with humid feel in the room. Breakfast room was small for size of hotel in high season. And set up in Breakfast room is very inefficient. The waffle station is right in the middle of the long breakfast bar and people waiting for their waffles were lined up blocking others who needed to get by to the other end to get eggs, juice, etc. There appeared to be plenty of other possible places to set up the waffle station elsewhere in the room, but when I asked staff why it was in such an awkward place during one of our breakfasts, I got an eye rolling reply that that was the proscribed "Best Western Way," which meant, I guess, they were going to do it that way regardless of the results. Eggs and sausage are dry, disappointing prefab version (come on, owners, you can do better for your guests). One bright spot: Coffee is good. The major plus is that it is located on the ocean side of the highway and is an easy walk to the beach. Your also close to the bay side and open air restaurants that offer sunset views. There are other decent restaurants nearby too. And the drive to the Mall outlets and many other restaurants on Hwy 1 is easy. There are a couple of breakfast places not too far away as well. Overall, I'd advise get a room away from the highway, don't expect anything close to a gourmet breakfast, and bring a mattress pad if you're a side sleeper. Probably won't return.

« Great Value Minus Breakfast »

Great value hotel. Clean. Excellent Service but free for all breakfast which isn't even good in the least. Great location. Ocean block. Would stay here again but will always go out for breakfast. People that work their are all very friendly and helpful :)

« Decent value, but I won't forget my stay »

The location, parking, and hotel itself was fine. Upon arriving to my room, I went to toss something in the trashcan near the door and noticed a used condom and wrapper in it. I also noticed some type of stain on the top sheet, but could not confirm what it was. Other than that, it was a decent hotel.

« OMG... please check this review before you book... »

We booked this hotel thru Priceline. Got a cheap rate, the location was Fantastic... Near Dewey Beach.... The room was adequate. We had booked 2 queen bed with roll in shower( room for physically challenged people) and we were 4 adults.. they charged us $40 for 2 extra people... We didn't mind paying tat... ok... The worst part starts now... My husband got stuck in the bathroom... The bathroom door expanded or something and the door wasnt aligned properly... This was at 7 am... I called up reception and we were told tat maintenance guy is in store and won't be back for 15 mins.. till he came the receptionist and breakfast crew was trying to open the door...he came in arnd 10 mins.. he went back to his room to get the tools 3 times...just keep in mind tat this was a room for physically challenged people...what wud the management had done if it was a person in a wheelchair? I kept asking for the manager and I was told tat manager doesn't come till 8... I was really disappointed... A guest was stuck in the bathroom for 50 mins and nobody was willing to call the manager... They of course refunded us for the nights stay... But this incident put a damper on our trip... The door shld have been properly maintained... Even more so coz it was a room for people with disabilities...

    « 1st visit to Dewy Beach »

Nice for the price. Breakfast was overall good. Room and beds were great. No complaints The beach was very close and the hotel provided a place to was feet and entire body. Everything worked inside.. the parking garage was a bit tight for large cars but we were fine

« Good Family Beach Hotel »

My family spent three nights here for a beach vacation. We loved it and would stay here again. Some reviews of this hotel seem a bit unfair/harsh so I will try to be as accurate as possible in my review. This is a beach hotel and is exposed to a lot of water, salt, sand, sweat, sunscreen, and beer. It is impossible to keep everything spotless all the time. On top of this, it is a seasonal beach so they are at or near full capacity for months at a time. This means that no refurbishments such as deep steam cleaning are possible until fall. Our first floor room was clean and free of sand, with the smell of deodorizer upon entering. The room was what you would expect from a two to three star hotel. The only downside that we found with our room was that because it was on the first floor, we did not have a balcony and could not leave the window open and still secure our room. This caused a lot of moisture to build up from towels, swimwear, showers, and being partially below ground level. Our stuff would never dry! After 20 hours my sunglasses still had liquid water on the lenses. We would have really preferred at 2nd to 4th floor room. Dewey Beach is only about two blocks wide so any hotel will be within easy walking distance to the water. The BW is on the ocean side of the main road so you do not need to wait to cross the street as opposed to the Hyatt Place across the street. Parking is under and inside the guest room part of the building and while not secured, seemed very safe. The pool is on the roof along with the breakfast room. A somewhat hidden laundry room is on the 3rd floor. They supply a hose to wash off the sand when coming back from the beach. The Jolly Trolley stop is across the street if you want to go to the boardwalk (we didn't touch our car forbour whole stay).

« Hotel ok. Reservation system VERY BAD and ruined my vacation because twice my reservation didn't show up and had no room »

Made the reservation. Gave my room away. Had to make a new reservation for another place to stay. Had to use my credit card again to reserve it. Had to drive 1 hour further. Got to the 2nd hotel in Dewey and no reservation for me there. By now it is 6 am in the morning and more than 24 hours of no sleep. But I have to argue over and over that I had made the reservation and had a hold on my bank account to prove it. Had to give my credit card again. Night manager assured me, after talking to the original manager at the Denton hotel, that "yes, they gave my room away because the system didn't show it even though he knew I was coming because I had called them in advance to ask them about a late arrival." that she would honor the price of Denton otherwise I would have had no money left for food and gas. I finally got to my room at 7 am! By this time, I could not sleep because I was in so much pain. Yet when I had to check out a few hours later (still not able to sleep) the day team had no record of what happened and wanted to charge me the full price. It took me almost an hour before the day staff was willing and able to contact the auditor who verified that everything I said was true. All of the stress, arguing and lack of sleep ended up with my leaving early to drive back home because I didn't want to risk driving 3.5 hours at night with no sleep for over 24 hours.

    5
    « Really great »

Our room was very clean, the staff was friendly, and we got a great value. Beds were comfortable. Wifi included. AC was great. The breakfast was plentiful as well. Our stay included parking. The beach is very close, restaurants and bars are all within walking distance. I would stay at this hotel again.

    2
    « Friendly but dirty »

We took a gamble and booked a 3 night stay hoping it would be ok being the property seemed fairly new. Upon check in we noticed the lobby was very dirty but it was a beach hotel and I understand that they get a ton of traffic so we checked in. When we entered the room it was so dirty to my eye I took a wet washcloth to the remote, door knobs and the tv and the washcloth was BLACK with filth. Hair in the sheets, dirty bathroom and this washcloth put me over the top. We asked to check out and I will say the manager was extremely nice and extremely accommodating with our check out and refund. He asked why, we have him the washcloth. He was apologetic but we did opt to go to another hotel.

    2
    « NOT IMPRESSED »

I was disappointed with my stay for the fact that no one cleaned the room, we had no towels/wash since we never seen anyone and had to hunt down someone for those items. Hallways smelled like bleach or something. I stay at many hotels for business and pleasure and this one I would pass up. I have seen Econo Lodges that were nicer. Need a room at the last minute for a trip and was told that they were sold out; however when I get there, there is a vacancy size. Paid over $900.00 for a family room that I did not need. Then another family wanted to move there room due to being unclean and they found a room for them; but I was told that the were completely sold out. I do not like being taken for ride and will never stay at another Best Western again for business or leisure.

« Great location but not so great facilities »

Let me start with the positives. The hotel location is wonderful. It is beachside so you can walk straight down to the sand. It is also a walk across the street to restaurants and a pier. It's a nice clean beach. The staff was very friendly. Kids stay free, there is a rooftop pool that closes at 9pm, exercise facilities, and breakfast is offered on the 4th floor from 7am-10am. Negatives: The design. Who decided to put the lobby opposite the first floor via a parking garage entrance? You have to walk across the parking garage to the lobby from first floor rooms in order to gain access to the elevator. There is no elevator access from the first floor at all. This is very dangerous for people trying to cross. Vehicles come in and out quite quickly. Second, the first floor does not seem very secured. There is no need to swipe your key card to gain entrance to the corridor. It is also very loud. We heard road noise and people slamming doors for most of the night. We had a lovely view of parked cars and the restaurant across the street. Someone kept messing wth our door. I'm not sure if they were confused as to which room they were in or if they were purposely trying to gain entrance. The rooms are stuffy and crowded. The entire first floor smelled like bug spray. Furniture placement is weird. It's as if they tried to make the rooms feel larger by shoving everything into one corner. The bathroom only has a shower and is very cramped. The floors are carpeted but still very hard. It might as well be concrete. If you decide to stay, avoid the first floor. I felt like I was sleeping in a bunker.

« wonderful stay, awesome location »

Better than staying at the Hyatt across the place, has a opening balcony door that most of the hotels in the area do not have. Perfect for the summer. Great location! Staff was wonderful and friendly, and nice having a pool! Letty who takes care of the breakfast was awesome too!

    4
    « Family Beach Trip »

Stayed here for our first trip to the area. The location is ideal! It's literally a walk down the end of the street to be on the beach. Leave your car at the hotel and take a 2-minute walk. There are many food choices in easy walking distance also. The rooms are a bit dated, but clean (which isn't easy this close to the beach with all the sand). I would have expected more towel/suit hanging areas since it is a beach location. Every room is "balcony", however that really means French doors with a rail - no room to step out. The pool is open and roof top. It's not real big or deep, but a nice family swim area. The breakfast area is standard for Best Western; food was average in taste and quality. There was plenty of food choices to meet almost any taste preference. The staff was friendly and helpful. While the lobby area was small, I didn't see it being an issue at any time. We were even able to get hot coffee in the afternoon from the lobby. Tip for access/parking, you will turn onto Dickenson to actually access the parking garage and enter the lobby area.

« Great service, old and smelly rooms »

Typical old beach house. Great location with awesome stuff to walk to and VERY CLEAN beautiful beach access. The rooms are old and the smell is awful, but you get used to it quickly then it only smacks you when you leave and come back. If you can request any floor except for the 1st floor if you are driving out daily. Driving out and having to park, well you can't get to the 1st floor without doing some serious maneuvering through the front desk and such, it's not great. Any other floor can be accessed from each parking garage STAIRS but NOT the first floor. I know, it sounds nuts but I tell no lies. Avoid floor 1 if you plan to use your car. Otherwise, hold your nose and enjoy cuz the ppl are nice and the location is great!!! Brekky is fine, nothing to write home about at all though. Again, they were so kind and brought us up to get some coffee and brekky before taking off for a tournament, but it was just avg stuff-great service with a smile tho. Great ppl.

    « Horrible Facility »

The location of this facility is excellent. That being said it is the only thing going for this place. It is rather run down. Our biggest problem was the housekeeping. For a hotel right by the beach, it should be vacuumed daily. It wasn't. We were given a handicapped room, and told there were no other rooms available. The problem with this is that there was no vanity in the bathroom. We had to put our toiletries on the coffee table. The shower was very dirty. When I asked housekeeping to change the sheets on our bed because of sand, the response was not "OK", but rather, "you want both?" (Rudely). When we came back from a Day out, our beds were made however the room was untouched otherwise. The bathroom was not cleaned, New towels were not given, and garbage was still in the garbage can. Overall, the facility smells terrible and feels dirty. While this was not the most expensive hotel in the area, you are merely paying for location. I will say, the front staff was pleasant, especially Ms. Maria and Ms. Carmen. I appreciated them speaking to housekeeping. I could not relax at this facility.

« Great location but yucky hotel »

This hotel has a great location... Walk a minute to the beach... Staff are nice however it's dirty and smelly... Not what we expected at all from best Western... Our carpet in our room was sticky when we walked... No lobby at all... Pool was nice but a lot of drinking and smoking... Not a great environment for kids.. Very disappointing...

« Location Perfect, Service is Not »

My second stay at this property and while I love the location, I don't think we'll be back for a third try. The location cannot be beat for the beach and many wonderful restaurants. Their service is seriously lacking and I'm shocked that Best Western is ok with it. Our room was assigned literally in the parking garage. There was a door to access the rest of the rooms on the ground level, except for 1 room and that's what room we were assigned. I went to the desk to request another location. At first, Justin was trying to tell me that there was nothing available (despite there being vacancy in the hotel). I work at a hotel, I am familiar with moving another arrival for the same amount of nights. He eventually did give us a much more favorable location on another floor after looking in the computer for about 5 minutes. When we got to the room, there were 3 bath towels and there were 4 people in our room. I picked up the phone to dial the front desk and there was no dial tone. I had to jimmy the cord for 3 minutes to get the phone to work. I requested another towel from a lady that answered the phone and she replied, "Yes, Ma'am". We never got the extra towel, so I just used one of my kid's towel. I also left a note for housekeeping the next morning to please leave us 4 towels. When we got back to the room to find 3 towels, we had to ask the housekeeper again for an extra towel when she was in the hallway a few doors down. The kicker for me was when I asked for a later checkout the evening before our departure. John gave me the run around about being full and "it depends on where housekeeping is" in the morning and told me that I had to check back in the morning. I asked for a noon checkout instead of 11AM. Housekeeping can't clean all the rooms at once and they also have stayovers to clean in between their checkouts. Checking out an hour later isn't going to make a difference. When I went back after breakfast the next morning and asked the desk clerk, she turned to what I believe was a housekeeping manager to ask her. The housekeeping manager said "That's Fine!" and agreed to let us checkout at 11:30. She never looked up from her paperwork. The staff here needs some work on their service. Asking for an extra towel or an hour later to checkout shouldn't be hard to fulfill. The only plus side of the staff was the breakfast attendant, I believe her name was Letty. Other guests were giving her a hard time about the breakfast set-up and she calmly explained to them it was Best Western policy/standards. She was working hard at keeping everything stocked. I love Dewey and the location to walk to the beach, but I think we're going to try the Beach House right down the road next time.

    « Good Motel »

The motel was good, but it was weird having a drive way run through the outside of the motel. Parking was available on the second floor which was close to the door. The ocean can be seen from about a block away from both sides which is a different experience.

« NOT HAPPY AT ALL /WILL NOT EVER BE BACK »

I planned this trip as a matron of honor for a good friends bachelorette party. I booked 9 months in advance with a great deal on Expedia. I had two connecting rooms each with two queen beds. Upon check in I was ask to name who would be staying with us. I put the four girls names that were staying in room one and the four other girls names who were staying in room two. The front desk receptionist told me that we had only stated there would be two girls per room in the reservation and that it would be 12 extra per person per night. We were staying two nights so an extra $24 per person per room which I understood and was fine with. All of us were splitting the room so everyone handed me $12 in cash so a total of $96.00 for two additional people per room. I completely understood and the girls gave me the money right in front of the receptionist so it was split equally. We were then given two parking passes. I told the receptionist that all of us were traveling from different areas but we still only had 4 cars total since some carpooled that were able and we needed two more parking passes. She told me they were unable to give us two more parking passes for the garage and the other two girls would need to obtain parking permits even though there was plenty of spots through every level of the hotel. We had to wait 45minutes for some of our girls to drive around and find an available spot to use their permit.Upon checkout I was then told it was $20.00 per person per night so a total of $160.00 total. All of the other seven girls were standing with me at check-in to verify we were told $12. I explained the lady what was told to us yesterday and she said that was incorrect and that's what the total was. At the end of our stay paying around $700 and 2 $35 parking passes we were not happy. I am a very easy person to please as well as the ladies that were traveling with me. This really put a damper of what was supposed to be a very special bachelorette weekend.

    « Understaffed, unprepared »

While arriving with a large group (over 100) we soon discovered that while the hotel was clean and neat, the front desk was wholly unprepared for large volumes of guests. What should have been a quick, easy process became one that dragged on for much longer than needed, because there was only ONE PERSON to check in dozens of rooms in short order. Kudos to the young lady who had to endure this, it really could have gone much better than it did, with numerous angry and frustrated guests.

« Great location and staff »

The location for this hotel couldnt be better and the staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. I enjoyed my stay, the bed was comfortable and the room just right. My mom and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and it was just what we wanted. Close to the beach and the shopping outlets, right off of the main highway, and plenty of parking.

    2
    « Don't stay here »

The outside of the hotel looked ok, however, the inside is in desperate need of modernization. It even smelled stale. My room was fair except for the bathroom which was too small & nowhere near modern. Had this been a low end hotel with a low end price, I would say it was acceptable. Otherwise skip it.

« Secluded area of the beach »

Pros: Check in. Cleanliness was ok. Cons: Phone was not working . Approach tunnels from parking places to floor could be improved. Local information should be available for new guests. Location: Beach , is walkable. While booking I had a feel that this is somewhat oceanfront or at-least approachable to the board walk. The location is kindly of secluded from boardwalk area. Seclusion is intensified when visiting during March . Breakfast was ok . Saw a lots of guests taking food outside causing a nuisance for other rule abiding guests. This may be a great place for peak summer , crowded seasons . The price may be higher for the value offered.

    « Poor Review »

Entire hotel needs renovation and cleaning. Hallway Carpet Dingy, Main Office windows filthy. Breakfast area uninviting. Although advertised there are no rooms with a view of the water and the French doors do no lead to a patio, there is no patio.(false advertisement). We were given a handicapped accessible room for no reason. When requested a room with a tub, told none were available but surprisingly one became available. No premium cable channels. The heating system is from the dark ages, continues to run hot or cold.

« Great $value$ for clean room, bath & location. »

I like B.W. because of consistent experiences with them. THE PRO'S: Friendly front desk people. A very clean room and bath. Microwave, fridge, TV, coffee pot, clothes iron & board all newish. The parking on each level meant you were never far from the car. This B.W. is just steps from the beach. VERY NICE! However it's about a mile walk to get to the boardwalk at Rehoboth. I don't think you would want to drive there in the summer season anyway because it was congested driving/parking, in the end of March. Many of the businesses haven't even opened yet or were on limited hours. I would rather walk then get stressed driving. Isn't a walk on the beach why we're there. THE CONS: There really wasn't much. The parking area could have been been tidied up a little better, but they were probably on a skeleton crew this time of year. The breakfast is hit or miss depending on when the fresh food came out. There are still plenty of other choices. I've seen worse at hotels costing much more. I give the highest rating to this B.W. based on value. I felt I had gotten more than my money's worth there.

« Nice jacuzzi room, location »

Staying off season makes it affordable. On beach block, nice location. Unfortunately our quiet weekend away was interrupted by St. Patrick's day drinkers with vulgar mouths on the streets and in the halls from midnight to 3 am. Two days after St. Patrick's day. The room was okay, a little more attention to detail dusting on the wood furniture, otherwise very clean. Check in was attentive and welcoming and with free parking and internet this is a good choice. In room whirlpool is nice.

« Good access to a lovely beach »

The room was clean, updated and in good repair. The only negative was not finding a bathmat but the shower was great. We went out for breakfast though the breakfast room appeared well stocked. The lobby is very small so finding the actual guest room large with a bit of a sea view and large windows was a nice surprise. Staff was friendly. I would return.

« Really nice staff; affordable during off-season »

This area is insanely overly expensive during the peak season, but in the winter you can get some cheaper hotel rooms and you feel like you're getting your full value. Parking is free, it's definitely walkable to the beach, and generally it's close to a lot of things. It's not near a "downtown" so it's not in a very walkable area for restaurants and attractions, although there are a few local bars and things. Definitely a lot of smoking in the hotel and potentially a party hotel. But that is this whole area of Maryland and Delaware, so all visits should know this! Bring ear plugs for sure. Staff here are great, free wifi, and nice continental breakfast that goes until 10am were my big selling points. Had an absolutely wonderful time with my husband in this beautiful, beautiful area.

    « Nice get away »

The Best western Golden Leaf in Dewey beach is an affordable hotel located in the heart of Dewey Beach. Located on the main highway through Dewey beach, this hotel is a short 1/2 block walk away from the beach. The breakfast bar is located on the top floor and is adequate. Nothing special but it works. The pool also located on the top deck of the hotel is clean and well maintained. There is a small workout room with a few free weight and a couple cardio machines. The housekeeping staff was friendly and did a nice job. Over all we had a nice experience and totally enjoyed the nightlife and restaurants surrounding this hotel. If you visit this area take a visit to the Cork and Bottle. Always great bands at this venue.

« At least it was better than a stable »

Traveled to Delaware for some holiday shopping and a short get-away ... since it was off season, hotels were empty. Needed to request extra blanket cause the one on bed was more suitable for spring and summer. Bed mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable ... The morning breakfast was OK but the sausage was not to my liking -- tasted like cardboard. Since it was one night, I survived ... judy

    « Nice experience »

Nice and quite stay during off season. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant throughout the stay. Rooms are clean and breakfast is a nice option. Internet in the room could be better though, so not too good to work from the room.

« Clean and Friendly, Just as I Hoped »

We needed a place near the beach for a single night. The location of this hotel is ideal. We walked to the beach in the morning as well as over to the bay. This hotel is easy to find. It's easy to park. The room was clean and everything worked. Breakfast was wonderful.

    « Great Service »

The front desk staff was very accommodating when we asked to change rooms due to being to far away from the elevator for a family member to walk. They rectified the situation for her right away and we enjoyed our two day stay.

    « Horrible Staff »

They claimed to have us for 1 night and not the 2 nights I reserved for a king bed with bay view. We had the king bed for the first night then had to move in the morning to a 2 bed queen room. They refused to give us late check out and early check in for having to move rooms, even though it was their error and my reservation was made 1 month in advance. We had to pack up, load the car, then come back later to check in all over again. Ridiculous. The next morning, their staff was in front of and next to our room in the hallway talking and laughing very loudly for 1.5 hours early in the morning. No sleeping in at this place, not to mention their staff is extremely rude and not helpful at all. At check out, they would only give us a receipt for the 2nd night and refused to give us one that included both nights. They blamed booking.com for all of the issues.

    « Hotel »

Overall the hotel was very nice. I loved the continential breakfast and also the fitness room was a plus. I think that the rooms are a bit outdated but very very clean. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. I would definitely go back to that hotel in the off season.

« Our third stay here was wonderful as always. »

We are living history travelling performers and have a booking in Dover, DE, the first weekend in November. The lady was reared near the ocean and needs her yearly "ocean fix" since we live in the Midwest. We discovered this hotel about 30 miles south of Dover. Since this is the off season, we practically have the beach to ourselves, and the hotel is only 150 feet from the beach. It is quiet, comfortable, clean with a very friendly staff and the best breakfast of any of the hotels in which we stay while on the circuit. We have stayed here for three years and intend to continue taking our brief rest between performances right here!

    « Almost Home »

Great place to stay on trip back from the Outer Banks. Town is deserted in beginning of November which was great for us. Unfortunately a steady downpour the day of our departure did not allow for sight seeing that we had planned.

    « Conveniently located hotel. »

We stayed here for the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival weekend. The hotel is dated but clean. Our room was clean and comfortable with a fridge and microwave. There was plenty of hot water (a big plus for me). The walls were a bit thin and we could hear the people in the adjacent room, but they weren't in the room that often. Our room was across the hall from the hotel's fitness center which was not a problem. We had a view of the bay which was really nice. The hotel was only five minutes away from the stores and restaurants on the main street in Rehoboth Beach and about 10-15 minutes away from the venues where we attended the jazz concerts. The breakfast was simple, bagels, boiled eggs, danish, cereal, and coffee. There was also juice and tea. It was sufficient enough to start the day. The staff was super friendly and very helpful.

« Great hotel, great location »

The hotel is in great condition, and is in a perfect location near the beach, and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again. The breakfast was included, and was very clean, with all of the items you would expect at a free hotel breakfast.

    « Best Western »

I have already expressed my opinion. I think the hotel is in a great place, but is very outdated and the security is poor. I payed a good price per night, but would never pay summer prices.I don't find it necessary for you to keep asking my opinion over and over again in this survey. My suggestion to you is not to ask gender and age any more.

    « Great View - typically beachy »

We had a very pleasant stay at this property. It is typically beachy and this is the end of the beach season, so I'd say the room was a bit worn and ready to be refreshed for next season. It was very clean and the staff extremely nice. Breakfast was very nice. The bed we slept in was not particularly comfortable and ready for replacement - we were only there for one night so I didn't try the other one in the room. It was fairly noisy from the room next to us and the hallway - sound really traveled. We had a great view, staff so nice and weren't in the room that much, so it was easy to overlook any of the cons. Hopefully, over the Winter it will be refreshed.

    « Great Value »

Excellent location steps from the beach. Very quiet and clean. Included refrigerator and microwave with new carpeting and beds. No fee parking or extra costs and low taxes on the cost.of the large size room.

    « Adequate »

Hard to rate this very basic hotel badly! It was so convenient and for what we paid we can't complain. The carpark allowed direct access to the floor we were staying and there was washing machines and driers. Staff we very helpful and breakfast (although basic was complimentary!) Fellow travellers I would suggest a price service comparison, this is really not that bad!

« Would never suggest or stay here ever again »

    « Experience »

The hotel was not nearly as nice as some of the other best westerns I have stayed at. Also, there is not an elevator that will bring you from the parking area up to your room. You have to haul your luggage up about 5 stairs to the lobby and the elevators.

    4
    « Comfortable room »

We traveled down for a long weekend and were pleased with the room. As others have said, the carpeting can use replacement, but our room, while it faced Rt. 1 was comfortable and we didn't find it noisy. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the room was clean, the bed very comfortable and we were pleased. Continental breakfast is complimentary, parking is free and the hotel was in walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go. We'd stay again.

    « Just barely adequate »

This hotel has some good and bad points. The good: The beach is at the end of the block and you don't have to cross Highway 1 to get to it. The bay is close on the other side of Highway 1. You can walk to bars and restaurants. The hotel has an indoor garage. The room was fairly spacious and has windows that open. The front desk people were nice. The bad: Tired worn out decor. Hallways that look like a prison. Carpet that made me wish I had brought bedroom slippers. Sheets and towels worn and not exactly white. Breakfast largely consisting of pre-packaged carbohydrates. We stayed here off season for only one night and paid a low rate, so all in all I thought it was OK for what we paid, but if I had paid more or had to stay longer I would say definitely find something better.

    « Anniversary trip »

When we arrived we were given a handicapped room right outside of the elevator and the ice/ vending machines. we asked to be moved because of the noise. Originally she told us that she didn't have any other king rooms to move us....finally she said she would change us with someone that did not check in yet. She was nice enough to change our room, but now we were right across from the stairs. We were up all night with the banging of the door to the stairs and the noise of rolling from the trash cans they wheel around. We ended up only staying one night, because of this. So much for a few days away for our ANNIVERSARY!!!!!
