« Beautiful Scenery at Cascade Locks, OR »

I had the pleasure to stay here 2 nights, Oct. 2016 & 3 nights Nov. 2012. Staff is friendly, accommodating & remembered us. Best Western Hotel in Cascade Locks is comfortable with scenic views of the Columbia River, Bridge of the Gods, and regularly passing freight trains which add to the ambiance. If you are visiting from an area like Southern CA and visit Cascade Locks you are in for a scenic treat. The hotel is next to the Bridgeside gift shop and restaurant with free breakfast for hotel guests. The restaurant displays Indian & Western artifacts & scenic views of the Columbia River & much more. Across the bridge is BRG Big River Grill, a nice class place to relax & dine especially for dinner. Earlier in the day, drive the scenic route from BRG in Stevenson, Washington along the Columbia River and over Hood River Bridge to to Hood River city and back to Cascade Locks. Also near the hotel are famous magnificent waterfalls. You will appreciate Best Western in Cascade Locks. I recommend a room with river view & balcony, but without adjoining doors. Despite 2 trips, we could not see everything. Oh, Best Western is 45 min. east of Portland, OR.

« Great view, great breakfast and really convenient »

I had a friend in town and we didn't want to try to drive back to the city when it was dark anyhow. The pros: - Wonderful breakfast in the morning next door, the value was for 2 adults and 2 children, it would have been another $30 out of pocket, but was complimentary with our stay - It was very convenient and it had a beautiful view of the river and the Bridge of the gods - If you have an opportuinty to ask for a room on the end, we were in 301, we had a nice little sitting area and two TVs, no one had to fight for programming - Internet was great with little ones and iPads - Friendly staff that brought us more towells - The restaurant next door was great for dinner too, but awesome for a wholesome breakfast- really good food Considerations: - It is next to the train tracks BUT, it's the only hotel that is on the river from what I've seen. If you live in the city, this won't bother you if you close your door I really am glad I had a chance to experience the hotel and for a chain, it was awesome!

    « Nice big room »

Room is large and has a very comfortable bed. I wish I had been given a room with a view of the river and bridge, but it was a nice room anyways. The breakfast is at the restaurant next door which wasn't an inconvenience. The food was good.

« Excellent service, stunning views, fabulous breakfast! »

We stopped here because it was 1/2 way to our final destination and we are glad we did. We were greeted warmly upon arrival, our room was clean and quiet. There is a 24 hour coffee/coco station in the lobby and a restaurant right next door. The breakfast offered thru this hotel is the best we have ever had at a BW location. I highly recommend this facility.

    « Very nice, but.... »

The Best Western Plus Columbia River Inn is by most standards a pretty nice hotel. The rooms, while not exactly exciting, have all of the features that we have come to expect in the 21st Century, the staff seems pleasant and helpful, and the view of the river (and the nearby Bridge of the Gods) is excellent. In addition, included with one's room is a free breakfast at the family type restaurant (appropriately named the Bridgeside, where the view of the river is even better) next door. There are, however, some problems. First, when the hotel is anywhere near full (which, I suspect, it usually is) parking is a bit of a mess with too few spaces for too many cars. Second, the train tracks rather inconveniently placed in the narrow space between the hotel and the river, are busy train tracks, and, while I suspect heroic efforts at sound proofing have been made, the noise is at least somewhat disturbing--when the 2:05 from Abilene is highballing its way on to Portland, you certainly know it. (Okay, probably not from Abilene, but you get my point.) Finally, I think the rates are just too expensive for what one gets. Yes, I guess I am the crotchety old guy, but for something north of $170 for a standard two-queen room at the end of October, I am just expecting a little more, even with the free breakfast. Well, I guess it's just an example of location, location, location, for the BWPCRI is in a great spot, not just because of its view of the river and the bridge and Greenleaf Peak, but also because it is so near many of the best Gorge waterfalls and hikes. So, in the last analysis, maybe it *is* worth the money if you really want to stay in Cascade Locks. But while I doubt there is any better place to stay in Cascade Locks, most people, I suspect, would be happier to drive on twenty miles and stay at the really excellent Best Western in Hood River. (One more note--the Best Western Plus Columbia River Inn now has one of the new Best Western signs, and the Best Western folks have really dropped the ball on this one. To replace the logo we have all known and loved (okay, not exactly *loved*, but still) for umpteen years with something that appears to be more suitable for an ice cream stand is a crime. I mentioned this to a member of the BWPCRI staff, and she ruefully agreed with me. Mr. Best Western CEO, tear down this sign!)

« Pay Extra For A Waterview!!! 2 Day Stay Was Incredible. So Much Too See From The Room. »

We were on the 4th floor facing the Bridge Of The Gods. It was an exceptional opportunity to see the transportation industry in full swing. The Columbia River is a major transportation line so we saw barge after barge with all kinds of products they were moving. We saw an Old Fashion Paddle Boat, We Saw Jet Boats and we were right on the railroad line. Trains went by all day and night. The room was really a fun spot to hang out. Even the free breakfast had the same view and made you want to stay longer to watch. The waterfalls were 8 miles up the road and we hiked 7 waterfalls in two days with stunning fall colors. No fees for anything. The Bridge of Gods was $5.00 to cross which is a rip off but we did it to say we did it. I saw all of the competition hotels and this is by far the best selection for what you get and that is coming from a Gold Elite Marriott Member. The rooms were huge and extremely clean. Micro and Mini Frig. We actually took advantage of the hot tub both nights because of the hiking we did. Had it all to ourselves. Loved this hotel and we will go back.

    « Loved It!! »

Stayed for three nights because of the location was close to many areas we wanted to visit. The front desk personal was very friendly and professional. The room had a nice view and was very spacious. After a long day of hiking it was nice to relax in the hot tub/pool. Having a laundry made it easy to dry our clothes after getting wet. I can't say enough about the breakfast at the restaurant next door, the food was so good we ended up eating there for lunch and dinner all three days. Thanks to Rod for making the best Mushroom Soup to warm us up. Out of a ten day trip of Oregon this was my favorite hotel.

« Make Sure You Have a Room with a View »

Great Hotel on the Columbia River Gorge. Make sure you have a room facing the Gorge. If not you will be paying a hefty price for a view of the parking lot.beautiful Stayed at the BW, Resort at the Mountain the night before . That property is beautiful and no room has a bad view.

    5
« Breakfast served next door »

This hotel offered great service and quick check in. Their breakfast was served at the restaurant next door where you got to pick off of a selected menu. Everything was great, however, there was some road noise but I don't think that can be avoided.

« Nice Spot for Toring the Columbia River Gorge »

The hotel is in a great location for touring the Columbia River Gorge and all its wonderful waterfalls. The hotel itself is right along the Columbia River near the Bridge of the Gods. There were plenty of dining options in town as well as in Stevenson across the river. The staff was friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was at the restaurant next door.

« Looking Forward to the Next Trip! »

My friend and I attend the Hood River harvest festival every year. We usually stay in Hood River. This year we decided to stay in Cascade Locks and explore the area. I am so glad we did. The hotel, from start to finish was truly exceptional. The views of the Columbia river and the Bridge of the Gods from our balcony was breathtaking. We enjoyed watching eagles and geese and the paddle boats on the river. The room was very comfortable, the bed just perfect. We also received a complimentary full breakfast at the restaurant next to the hotel. From now own, when we attend the festival in Hood River, we will stay at the BW in Cascade Locks. The one thing you should be aware of though, the train tracks are right below the hotel and the freight trains run frequently through the night. The hotel accommodates the potential concern by supplying ear plugs. We actually enjoyed the trains. It added to the experience.

    5
« Nice, Clean and comfortable »

This hotel is very clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the views of the river were awesome. We had such a wonderful time here. The breakfast in the restaurant next door was excellent also. The girls at the desk were very helpful to us with making our dinner plans. We Loved our visit here.

    5
« Great stay in the river gorge »

Stayed here for one night while passing through the Columbia River gorge. While this was one of the most expensive hotels on our trip, you get good value for the money and I assume pay for the location too - right next to the Bridge of the Gods and overlooking the river. Our top floor room was nicely appointed, very clean and had a huge comfy bed. While the room was facing the parking lot and road, we did not experience any noise and had an excellent night of sleep. Breakfast is included and served in the cafe / restaurant next door, which has fantastic views of the bridge and the river. Breakfast is cooked to order and much better than the usual hotel/motel breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
« Lovely property overlooking the Columbia River »

The rooms overlooking the Bridge of the Gods and the Columbia River were just perfect for our family trip. The view was incredible, and the rooms were larger than a typical 2-bedroom hotel room. There was a table and chairs, plus a couch, so we could all spread out. The included breakfast was available at the Bridgeside Cafe, just next door, and again, the views from the large windows were breathtaking. There is a train that passes next to the river during the night, but the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs, so I didn't find that to be a problem at all.

    4
    « Great river view »

The view of the Columbia River is stupendous! There is a lot of traffic there with barges, private boats, etc. The UPRR runs right along the river here, but ear plugs are provided for a peaceful night sleep if the noise becomes disruptive. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel provides breakfast at the restaurant next door with is a plus. Coffee and tea available in the lobby and in the rooms. There is always someone available to answer questions and help with any concerns.

    3
    « Great river view »

The room was very nice, large and comfy. Coffee/tea available in the room and near the lobby. I thought the bed was high and had trouble getting onto it. I did wonder about the check in rules stating that there would be no drinking, no smoking and no sex in the rooms. How would they enforce these rules? Hidden microphones? I also had some problems sleeping with the trains that rumbled past for most of the night. Luckily, they did not have to blow the whistle...... The view of the river was great and very relaxing and entertaining with the traffic of boats and barges. Breakfast at the restaurant next door was included in the cost.

    4
« Very pleasant property with great access »

We stayed here on a bicycle trip. The manager as well as the staff did a great job from start to finish. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was terrific. It is served at a full restaurant next door and offered various choices. The only aspect causing concern were the railroad tracks, but we were not awakened during the night. I would stay here again.

    4
« Wonderful location and views overlooking the river, and pet friendly »

We really enjoyed our stay facing the river. We had a room on the end on the first floor which was very convenient for taking our dog out. The trade off is no balcony which is also nice on the other floors. We loved hearing the train go by. On the Oregon side they don't blow their whistles, but on the Washington side they do, which is farther away and pleasant (we thought). We sat out on the benches in front of our room watching the Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge tour boat go by as well as the tug boats pushing wheat barges up river. A nice made to order breakfast was included next door with wonderful views. Very relaxing visit.

    4
    « Best location »

this motel is a great place to stay. The view from the room was unbelievable overlooking the river and gorge. It is literally on main highway but still quiet and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this place to everyone

« Great Columbia Gorge Location »

Location: We picked this hotel because of its proximity to many great hiking trails along the Columbia Gorge. It is located yards away from the Bridge of the Gods, which means there is easy access to hikes on both the Washington and Oregon sides of the gorge. It is about a 15 min. drive from the Multnomah Falls and a few blocks from the Sternwheeler. There are several restaurants down the street, along with a small market. Hood River is about 20 minutes East on I-84 and has a much larger choice of restaurants. View: Because we rarely spend much time in the room, I usually don't spring for a view room. Here, I wished I had. View rooms come with a patio or balcony and have sweeping views of the river. In addition to spotting birds, you can watch boats and trains go by. Room: The bed was comfortable, and we had no noise issues despite the nearby train tracks. The room comes with a microwave and small refrigerator. The sink was located outside the bathroom. Food: Several breakfast options at the restaurant next door are included in the price. Customers order at the counter, find a table, and a server delivers the food when it is ready. The first morning we had our food within 5 minutes. The second day it was crowded, and we had a 15-20 minute wait. The most popular choice was two eggs, hash browns, choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, and two slices of toasted multi-grain bread. I selected the oatmeal with a hot spiced pear the first morning and granola with yogurt the next. Pancakes is another option. Breakfast also includes your choice of coffee, tea, or orange juice. I enjoyed the food more than the usual Best Western breakfast. Other Amenities: The fitness room is very basic but includes a treadmill and a elliptical. Other observation: The Columbia River Inn is about ten minutes away from the Skamania Lodge in Washington, and is a good alternative if the Lodge is full or you do not want to pay Lodge prices for a luxury stay.

    « Great visit »

This is a really good hotel. I have stayed at 5 star hotels with fewer amenities. The river views were spectacular. The good; hot tub, internet, the breakfast next door in the restaurant was outstanding, the bed, the safe, the marble sinks, 24 hour tea and coffee, pleasent staff. If you are a light sleeper you may hear the train or the boats. It didn't bother us at all, the room had good sound proofing. We had a fantastic stay. There was so much to do in the area.

    5
    « Very Accomodating! »

We arrived late at night without a reservation after flying from the East Coast. The staff were friendly and got us checked in quickly. The room was not a river view, but very acceptable and in fact, may have been quieter since the river view rooms have the trains going by! There was a nice terrace to sit and watch the sunset, the pool/spa were great and breakfast was very good at a restaurant next door. We decided to extend our stay and again, the staff were friendly and accomodating.

    4
« Good for nature views »

I liked this hotel for the natural setting. Our room had a beautiful view of the river. We had dinner and drinks at a nearby tavern that had picnic benches overlooking the river. The hotel has a few small tables outside overlooking the river, where you can bring some wine and cheese and enjoy the sunset. The train noise was kind of a low rumbling sound that did not bother me too much at night, especially as I had set the fan to "constant" to provide background noise. I was glad that the train doesn't blast the horn, at least. The next door restaurant breakfast was okay, but I prefer a buffet style breakfast. The hotel had coffee in the lobby.

« Day trip to Oregon »

Excellent location to see beautiful Oregon Cascade Locks and parks. Went to check out future camping sites and found the area to be beautiful to come and stay here at this hotel. Lots to see and do in the area. Many restaurant choices nearby.

    « Salmon fishing gateway »

Great room! - 2 queens, 1 king bed. A sitting area with a riverside view, and large enough that 4 adults were not stumbling over each other. Beds nice and firm, and room kept clean and tidy by hotel staff while we enjoyed the salmon fishing.

    5
« Gorgeous! LARGE dog friendly, on the river - wonderful! »

Room was impressively appointed! Beautiful. Beds were super comfy. CLEAN -- like brand new clean! Quality everything, including plush towels! Dog walking area is excellent, private and plenty large - beautiful grassy, well landscaped meandering walking along the river.. Also clean! Having a restaurant, and a very good one, next door, is a true bonus. The food is great - especially considering that a FULL b'fast is included!! They even were kind enough to bring dinner to our room on a rainy night. (ESPECIALLY considering) there were many dogs staying there that evening, it was QUIET. LARGE dogs very welcome - we have a 100 lb Dobe and saw 2 other Dobes there, plus several others. Very awesome place - NOTHING negative.

    4
    « Comfortable as expected. »

The bonus of staying in a chain hotel/motel is you know exactly what you are going to get. So this is exactly as I expected a BW to be. Good sized room with both comfy king bed & sofa. We chose a room without a special view which is on the road side but were not troubled with much road noise. The Inn has the bonus of a hot tub & decent sized indoor pool. Plenty of free drinks in lobby & vending machines available for snacks. Complementary breakfast is served at adjoining restaurant. Stayed here 16 years ago & would return.

    5
« Wonderfully updated... a pleasure to stay here »

I grew up in this town and have stayed here numerous times over the years. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and the hotel itself has been meticulously updated. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well done. Our favorite? The free breakfast options chosen from a special menu (next door at the Bridgeside Restaurant). They are excellent - and you get to sit and gaze at the beautiful Columbia River and Bridge of the Gods while you eat (which totally makes up for choosing a non-view, less expensive room.) What an improvement over the old buffet style 'breakfast' served in a windowless room in the hotel!!Even tho I grew up there, I never get tired o that gorgeous view! Keep it up - we will be back!

    5
    « Bridge of the God's »

Enjoyable stay. Great view of the river, surrounding landscape and the bridge from our room. The breakfast included in the price was at a restaurant near by and the quality of the food was very good, as well as ample quantity. The railroad is just maybe 100 ft. from the hotel and trains do run though out the night - this did not seem to bother us.

    5
« Great hotel with a caveat or two »

The hotel is located right along side the Columbia River. We had a great room, 415, top floor with a small balcony overlooking the river. 2 sinks are adjacent to the frig and living room, not in a separate area. A/C works great except that the vanes can't be controlled so cold wind blows across a person sitting on the nice little couch or laying in bed. Would have to put the 2 stuffed chairs in front of it to deflect the blast of air. Be aware that the trains run back and forth right below the hotel along both sides of the river. We enjoy the sounds, so no problem. The hotel does supply ear plugs for whatever they're worth. They have coffee and hot chocolate available all day and night. Breakfast at an adjoining restaurant. Your options are limited. There's a wonderful park which you can walk in for long distances. From the hotel, If you walk back east along the main drag a few blocks you'll come upon a place that serves the most gigantic soft ice creams you've ever seen! This is a great place to serve as a base for numerous hikes in the area. Weekends are jammed with hikers, beware!

« Comfortable but small room in the bottom corner...... »

We've stayed in many BW's with our kids and dog. This one was ok - room was small and I felt like we were put in the corner with the boiler room, haha. But over all it was fine. I'd stay again. Awesome view of Bridge of the Gods and the breakfast at the restaurant next door was great.

    2
    « Noisey Trains »

Train noise by the best rooms, river view rooms. Train travel both ways between the best rooms and the river. What can be said about an location that does not disclose the information concerning the noise of trains.

    4
    « I liked it here »

I liked it here. Had a good time.. Swam in the pool. It was indoors and it was good. They have a hot tub too. Nice view.. Noisey train, but they give ear plugs.. Free breakfast next door. Cooked to order. It was good. Beautiful area

« Diamond in the rough »

I was very pleased with the comfort and location of this hotel. I was on business but would come back for pleasure in the future. Only down side is the lack of eatery choices. The views of the Columbia are fantastic.

    5
    « Truly a great stay »

We finished a 4 night stay , and found it to be an excellent experience. Aside from a beautiful location, the staff at this hotel are professional and friendly. The rooms are modern and clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast next door was better than usual BW fare. We had a room facing the road so maybe that's why we had no issues with train noise, or maybe it was the fact that we went to bed exhausted each night. We took advantage of the nearby hiking trails each day , and the jacuzzi for a few minutes each evening. Hot coffee and tea always available, which was lovely. perfect stay thanks!

    5
    « Vacation 2016 »

Highly recommended. Reception Staff, day and night, professional, courteous, friendly. Well located on the Columbia River, room had an excellent view of River, Bridge & Eastern portion of the Gorge from the private balcony. Beds very comfortable. Room well appointed.

    4
    « comfy beds »

We stayed before & after coming off the PCT from 2 week hike. We found it pleasant and comfortable both times. The suites are large and windows make the view fantastic. The regular rooms are comfy and beds are very comfortable.

    2
    « Trains »

If you like trains running through your room than this hotel is for you. Please be advised that the trains run every 20 minutes and are right out your back door. There are two train tracks behind the hotel, one behind your room and the other is on the other side of the river. If the train running down the track isn't noisy enough for you there is the occasional barge that blows an air horn 200 yards from your room!

    5
« Great place to explore the Columbia Gorge »

I chose this hotel and it is conveniently located in the Columbia gorge and would serve as a jumping off point to explore the area. Front staff was great; the room was clean, and the pool and spa were refreshing. Breakfast is served next door at the Bridgeside restaurant, but your choice include a full breakfast of eggs, meat, toast, potatoes, and coffee/tea. It was so filling that we only needed some fruit and rolls for lunch. Location is perfect and the view off the back deck is magnificent. Definitely worth it.

    4
« Excellent location for visiting Columbia Gorge area! »

We stayed here while visiting Gorge area. Beautiful location with Columbia river flowing right behind the hotel. There is no access from hotel to river. Rooms are clean and big, pool is very nice and they had constant supply of hot coffee. Very relaxing atmosphere and had a good stay. Breakfast is next door and food is very good. You get food voucher from hotel for the breakfast and it is sufficient, you can always add more to what is normally included in the meal at additional cost. Didn't have many restaurant near by, pizza place across the hotel was ok. Overall stay was very good.

« Clean, new and nice hotel right under the bridge »

Pretty new hotel that is pretty nice. The breakfast is actually at the hotel next door so plan for that if you are leaving early to fish like we did. they opened at 6:30 which was too late for us. There is also a railroad track right underneath the hotel. They have earplugs in your room - use them if you are a light sleeper.

    5
    « Visit Columbia Gorge »

Great place to stay when visiting the Columbia Gorge.. Free breakfast at the restaurant next door an unexpected plus...it was very good. View King room with private balcony was great. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Convenient »

We were looking for a place to stay that was close to Hood River but not too far from Portland's airport. This hotel fit the bill. It was clean and comfortable. The only surprise was the bill - the initial room quote was the rate for Sunday night, but the rate for Saturday night was significantly higher.

    5
    « beauty at it's finest »

the location was fabulous - The view from the room amazing The staff was very helpful and food was great. We were in town for a wedding and this venue was a perfect location for all the events we needed to attend overall a great stay

    5
    « Convenient in a beautiful place »

This Best Western is convenient to Interstate 84 in a beautiful spot beside the Columbia River in small town Cascade Locks. It is just down the road from the many waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. We usually stay here when traveling to Portland or the coast. The room was roomy, clean, and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The hotel gives you a voucher for breakfast dining next door at a local restaurant where the service is good and the meal choices are excellent, as you eat while taking in the view of the Columbia River. We enjoyed our most recent stay here, and will plan on staying again on some future trip.

    5
« Overenight stay at the Columbia River Inn »

The room is very comfortable. I stayed during peak time summer travel and clients were quiet. There is a very busy train traffic if you choose the river view but that stops late at night. Staff is very helpful. There is a small swimming pool but you better swim because it is a tad cold and a hot tub. Breakfast comes with your stay with the restaurant right next door. They have fixed choices for the hotel breakfast so if you want something that is not on the list, you'll have to play extra. The choices they have for breakfast is very good so you don't really have to go out of the hotel breakfast list. I chose carrot cake as an extra and it was delicious.

    5
    « Best Western Motel »

This Motel is very nice. So close to all the activities. We were there to take the Sternwheeler dinner cruise. The Motel is right on the Columbia River. Rooms are very nice, comfortable. The staff is very helpful. Breakfast is included next door at a very nice restaurant. Internet was included plus coffee pots in room.

    4
    « Family Reunion »

Overall a great place; clean, friendly helpful staff, beautiful views of the Columbia River directly behind the Motel. the one significant draw back is the rail road train traffic noise. the trains pass very frequently day and night. Bring a "white Noise" machine and plan to use it at night.

    3
« Not worth the price »

This motel is very high priced. We paid extra to have a room with a balcony. It's not worth it. Very small area. Room and bedding were just average, Breakfast is next door and they have a limited menu.

    5
    « Stay Here! »

Great place! Beautiful views! Caring staff! Comfy rooms! Delicious breakfast! This was a wonderful hotel to find and have now stayed here 3 times! The staff have never disappointed us with their kindness and help. We will certainly be staying here again when traveling in Oregon!

    « Had a great time here »

The staff was very helpful and graciously welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel was in a convenient place - we toured both sides of Bonneville Dam - a good educational trip for our kids.

    5
« Beautiful, comfortable place to stay »

Often I avoid this brand, as many of the properties show some wear and tear, but this one is in perfect shape, as clean as a pin and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful and it is in a beautiful setting. Couldn't ask for more!

    4
    « Beautiful Views & GREAT Room »

Large, tastefully decorated room with 2 beds, a loveseat, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, large tv, nice carpet & drapes. The bathroom has a large vanity with double sinks. The beds were heavenly to sleep on --- new, thick mattresses with a nice mattress pad that gives that little extra softness that makes a bed feel luxurious. The bed also had nice sheets & great pillows on it. I slept very well & didn't want to get out of bed in the morning!! The view is fabulous -- the Columbia River & mountains. Now, the reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because there are railroad tracks that run behind the hotel. There was 1 late train, but then none until after 07:30. The train didn't bother me, but it might bother others. HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

The surroundings in and around the Columbia Gorge is just awesome. Hood River Valley is a 'Garden of Eden' Everyone should take the slow lane when visiting this area. I did notify the desk that one of the beds seemed to be broken because it sloped and sqeaked

    « Location & value »

We chose this hotel for it's proximity to all the hiking trails in the gorge area. It's clean and has consistent Best Western furnishings and quality. It's right by the Bridge of Gods and is in the small town of Cascade Locks. The staff were cordial, the hotel well maintained, parking located outdoors. We had a suite with a hot tub (didn't use) overlooking the river on the ground floor. Our room had a balcony but since we were on the ground floor the view wasn't that great - trying to take pictures meant getting part of the wooden fence in it and it's not possible to hop over the balcony barrier..so if you really want to take pictures from your balcony you are best getting a room higher up. I read previous reviews about the train noise but we didn't have a problem with it. It was more like white noise rather than anything abrupt. We are also from NYC so tolerance to noise is relative. I thought the breakfast was better than your standard best western breakfast (aka cold continental fare). It's served at the restaurant next door and you can choose from a couple menu choices for a hot meal and beverage. The lobby inside Best Western has free coffee. We didn't try any of the restaurants in Cascade Locks for lunch / dinner. We just drove over to Hood River for our meals..many choices and good restaurants (thanks yelp!). Don't forget to check out the fruit loop (fresh produce) and breweries (pFriem)

« Fantastic room and view! »

This was one of the most comfortable and clean rooms we have had at a Best Western. Had a room looking towards the bridge. People were very nice and helpful, although there were a lot of kids running around and making a LOT of noise.

« central location for exploring, nice folks too! »

The view from the rooms and the breakfast area is awesome. There is a train nearby that runs often but is surprisingly quiet. The beds are comfortable and we appreciated the a/c as we visited during a warm time of the year. Cascade Locks is a small quiet town. The hotel's location is near several easy to moderate hiking trails leading to scenic waterfalls and is about 20 minutes from the Hood River area.

« Best hotel in the town but not the best hotel I've stayed at »

This is a decent hotel but the weekend we stayed there was an event going on so the price was waaaay over-inflated. Definitely not a good enough hotel for the price we ended up paying. Very nice staff and the rooms were clean with comfy beds. The breakfast was definitely lacking though. They give you a voucher for the restaurant next door but the breakfast menu is very limited. Overall, it was an okay hotel and the best hotel in the town, but seeing as it's pretty much the only hotel in town, that's not saying much.

« Best Views of Bridge and Gorge »

We called ahead just the day before for a room. There were only 2 left at the hotel. One with a balcony ( it was cool weather) and the other was a suite. We were so lucky to get the corner suite on the 3rd floor. 2 Windows faced across the Columbia Gorge and the 3rd looked down the Gorge - such a magnificent view. Bridge of Gods also visable from 2 windows. Spacious and comfortable. Great beds, towels, everything was wonderful. Instead of a continental breakfast, we were given a voucher for a cooked breakfast at Bridgeside Restaurant next door.

« Fabulous location, good bargain »

This was a last minute reservation and we were pleased to get a room with a fabulous river and Bridge of the Gods view. Rear rooms overlook the busy railway, but no whistles are allowed so the train noise wasn't an issue. Breakfast was adequate next door, where the view was also wonderful, but presentation was poor. Overall, highly recommended!

    « Noisy »

We came to this best western not knowing the chains customer service policys didnt apply here. We have never dealt with more frumpy staff in any best western .the rooms, eere very noisy trains every hour.the walls paper thin.room was clean though. No employees appeared to like working there. Poor management. The other observation was that the overall attitude since its their busy season was they were doing you a favor to allow you in. Would not recommend. The city rolls,up the sidewalks at 8 pm.so unless you are a pot toking backpacker theres not much to do as any nightlife.poor experience

    « Great place »

Great hotel. Excellent beds. Friendly staff. The views are amazing. We visited with our 4 children and had a nice time. Breakfast is simple but pretty good. Close to all of the water fall sites. Would stay again if traveling in this area.

    « Yes ??!! »

Nice property, very clean. Breakfast included (restaurant next door). Nice pool and hot tub, pool a little cold, hot tub perfect. Beautiful scenic view of river, bridge and mountains. Staff very nice. Yes, we are coming back to vacation. Thank you!

    « Nice, nothing special »

The staff was friendly, parking a little tight. Did not get a view room. A/c worked, shower worked, beds good. Coffee bleh. But you get breakfast in restaurant next store, which not only was good but was not a buffet so you didn't leave feeling bloated.

« Bridge of the Gods Run - Cascade Locks »

We had an excellent experience! I plan on participating next year at the Bridge of the Gods 10K and Half Marathon run and will be making my reservations at the Best Western - Cascade Locks! The view from our window was breath taking! We also enjoyed breakfast as part of our room rate. Each morning the breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly.

    « Gorgeous views »

Very clean and had gorgeous views of the Columbia River and surrounding mountains from the river view rooms. Good location (only 10-15 min. drive west to Multnomah Falls hiking and 10-15 min. drive east to great restaurants in Hood River. Nearby ice cream shop has the biggest portions I've ever seen in an ice cream cone. Breakfast was awesome with good quality food and views of the river. Hot tub was a good hot temperature. Internet connection was good but had to sign in every time when wanting to use which was annoying.

« Typical for the Best Western chain chain. »

Good parking in a prominent location. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable. It has a tendency to be noisy from road traffic. There are no in house dining facilities and breakfast is served in the restaurant next door, which is adequate. Fine dining does not exist in this location so be prepared to drive on. The locaation and history of the locks is fascinating.

« Nice place EXCEPT for the extremely loud trains all night »

Chose a Columbia River view room, but was not told that the trains RAN ALL NIGHT LONG DIRECTLY BETWEEN the room and the river. It was simply too noisy to sleep, even with the earplugs provided by the hotel, and I had to pull over on the rest of my way to Eugene, Oregon at a rest stop to try to sleep.

    « Terrible to Excellent »

My 79 year old mother and I showed up to the parking lot being resurfaced and inaccessible and no one to help us get our luggage to our room. But the hotel is the best Best Western I have ever stayed in. The rooms are great, the view of the Columbia River is the best, comfy beds and the hotel is very nice. We voiced our dissatisfaction with the check in experience and it was immediately addressed by the manager and we were very satisfied with the resolution. I will be bringing my mother back for her 80th birthday!

    « A Gem »

If you find that hotel near the Hood River is full, drive the quick 20 miles to this hotel alongside the Bridge of the Gods. You will find magnificent views from spacious rooms, great facilities and service, and a complimentary breakfast at Bridgeside next door that will knock your socks off. The area has great hiking trails and access to a park and marina where you can catch a scenic ride on the Sternwheeler (steamboat). Loved it!

« BEST WESTERN NEVER LETS ME DOWN. »

From the moment we entered the lobby, front desk agent Karie made us feel welcome. After a quick check in we were off to the exact top floor room we had requested the previous month. We were in room 405, a king suite with a balcony overlooking the Columbia River and the Bridge of the Gods. The beautiful room was furnished with everything you could possibly need and had a comfortable little seating area next to the balcony and window overlooking the river. We took turns lounging inside and then sitting on the balcony watching the cars crossing the nearby bridge, and the boats floating by. There is also a small yard with benches located downstairs where you can sit and enjoy the awesome view while drinking a tasty cup of coffee from the little stand a few doors down the street. Breakfast was served next door at the Bridgeside Restaurant. They have a menu for hotel guests, ranging from simple bagels to a full bacon or ham and eggs, hashbrowns, toast etc. choice. You order at the counter and they deliver it to your riverside table. Good basic breakfast, beautiful view. We also returned later in the day to sample their Salmon Chowder which was very good. The location of this hotel must not be overlooked, sitting a short drive beyond the amazing group of waterfalls along Hwy 84 and only about a forty five minute drive up to Hood River and the wonderful drive through the "Fruit Loop", just off Hwy 35. There are so many interesting sights to explore in this area you must give yourself a few days to do so. I must mention the trains that run along the river, both sides, several times a day. I slept with earplugs as usual, my better half Cookielee didn't, and we both slept well. I actually enjoyed the trains and considered them part of the environment, much like I enjoyed our room located above the streetcars in San Francisco. It really gives you a feeling for the area. It might sound like a commercial but Best Westerns never let us down. Unlike the Hampton that we stayed at the following night, they always manage to get us the room we reserve and treat us like valued customers. I can't recommend them strongly enough.

« Good Place For Area »

This hotel was very good for the dollar, given how small the area is, and the other available lodging options. I have had good experiences at other BW's, so I knew what to expect. Good stay for a reasonable cost. Beds were comfortable. There is a train that runs along the tracks below the hotel, but the cool thing is, they supply ear plugs! At first I thought it was a joke, but the plugs work and were comfortable. No issues. Best thing about the stay - the provided breakfast in the grill next door. Wonderfull river view!! Good food to boot. Only negative about the stay - the wifi. Performance was rubbish.... (That can be easily fixed, right Hotel Management??)

« halfway point to our destination »

This is the first time we have stayed at this Best Western on the Columbia River. I had intended to stay further east at the other Best Western Hood River Inn, but accidently booked this one. They were very helpful at the front desk when I told them of my mistake and called the other hotel but they were booked so we stayed at Best Western Plus. The room was adequate, clean, but an older hotel. It does not have a restaurant or lounge which we like in any place we stay, so that was a disappointment. It also was quite a bit more expensive than the other hotel, and didn't offer as much. There was a nice park within easy walking distance to the hotel and access to the stern-wheel cruise boat on the river. The staff was very friendly, a restaurant was next door which offered free breakfast if you stayed at the hotel.

    5
« Perfect location, good size room »

Stayed for one night and had a ground floor room overlooking the river. Wonderful view, quiet, and spent a lot of time reading and enjoying the view. Breakfast was next door at a restaurant, perfectly adequate though limited choices with the voucher the hotel gave. Walked down to the park and through the small town. We had spent a day going through Columbia River Gorge on the OR side and after doing the loop through the coast, had a day extra and drove on the WA side, stopping here for a night, rather than staying in Portland. Recommended for a night or two if in the area. Hotel is better than most around here.

    « Baggerdude »

Our group, of 4 couples, was on our annual 2 week motorcycle vacation. We traveled from Wisconsin to see the best of Oregon and Washington. This property provided us with spectacular views of the scenic Columbia River. This is a beautiful motel with great service and beds that you'll never want to get out of. A complimentary breakfast was served at the adjacent restaurant and was awesome. AND, this was the best value along the Columbia River Gorge!

    5
« Location, huge breakfast, comfortable room. »

Loved the location, right along the river, and close to all the hiking trails we had planned out. Took advantage of the hearty free breakfast that was offered in the restaurant next door, and of the jacuzzi after the long hikes. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Would highly recommend.

    « Great Stay »

I usually stay in at Best Western hotels when I travel. Most of the time they are a good deal for the money. This hotel was one the best that I have stayed in. The room was clean, the staff was great and helpful, the location over looking the Columbia River was fantastic.

    3
« Nice enough motel but too expensive »

Stayed in a "river view" room. It did in fact have a window facing the Columbia and Bridge of the Gods. However, it was a small window (maybe 3'x4') with drapes obscuring part of that. Room was clean as was the bathroom. Bed was just OK. Ready to be replaced, I think. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was served in the restaurant next door with a voucher supplied by the motel. Can't speak to the regular menu, but the breakfast served to my wife and I was just plan bad. Not sure what the Plus stands for on the Best Western sign, but judging from this place, I would guess it means, "We charge $50 more than the room is worth."

    « Pleasant stay »

Great location. Comfortable well appointed room. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast provided free at restaurant next door. Nice refer/freezer, microwave, TV, Wi FI. Good shower. Comfortable bed. Some train noise but not obtrusive. Easy access to freeway. Stayed previously and will again.

« Close to Stevenson Washington events »

We booked this hotel because it was just a few miles from the Stevenson Bluegrass Festival even though the per night rate was over $200. This newer hotel's room was clean, had a microwave, but the sink was in the room - not bathroom. The view is great from the hotel but half the rooms face the street which was the case with ours. We experienced a TV that did not work from the time we arrived till we left two days later. It had to do with the Direct TV part, not the TV. The hotel said they would fix the problem, but after several follow ups by us, the issue continued. We do thank the hotel management for the reduction in rate for our problem, but wonder why the issue could not be fixed within 2 day.s

« Great stay while visiting the Columbia River Gorge. »

This hotel was a great location to explore the river gorge. Our room was large enough for our family of four, we spent three days here and had plenty of room. The rooms nicely decorated and clean. We had a river and bridge view. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool every night. Breakfast is held at the restaurant next door, you have 4 choices, made to order. We would highly recommend this stay!

    4
« Nice view of Columbia River and Bridge of the Gods »

Clean, with a nice view. Enjoyed watching the river and boats. Good location for exploring the area. Tasty and friendly family restaraunt next door provided free breakfast ordered from any menu item. Staff helpful and little fruit stands next door and across the street provided easy access to delicious, inexpensive seasonal fruit (cherries)

    4
    « Delightful »

Fantastic experience except for Karey, desk clerk; absolutely unhelpful and rude . Great smile, totally unhelpful. Also,no fruit except for bananas at breakfast, which is weird since it is cherry, apricot season in a cherry state. Room had fabulous view overlooking columbia river. Clean. Great indoor pool, larger than it appears. So convenient to to Highway with all the waterfalls and views and also to Hood River and the fruit loop. easy jump off point to Beacon rock and Olympic National Park.

    « Extremely rude staff »

We were in attendance for a wedding on Thunder Island. This hotel had average ratings. The facilities were clean and comfortable, but the staff needed some serious customer service training. I know they were very busy at the time were we checked-in, but that is where excellence can over the mediocre. This place was horrible for customer service.

    4
« suberp location in the Columbia gorge »

Great location next to the Bridge of the Gods surrounded by superb scenery. There are a number of small restaurants in walking distance of the hotel along with Thunder Island Brewing. Trains do pass close by to the river view rooms so if you do not like train noise ask for a road side room. For us, we enjoy the trains going by and will stay here again.

    5
    « great view »

Great view of the Columbia river, nice room, nice hot tub, breakfast next door at nice restaurant part of the room charge. Nice shade in the evenings. Ice cream drive inn in town. Front desk was fantastic, coffee all night long in front lobby.

    4
    « What a View! »

The hotel is right on the river, and as mentioned, the train tracks are quite close. Not often do trains pass so the proximity isn't offensive. Our room was clean and updated, with comfy beds and lots of room for all to relax. Staff is very friendly and the breakfast at "The Bridgeside" was tasty.

    3
« A Decent Stay - Friendliness of Staff Varies »

This is my third time staying here. The lobby is large with plenty of seating; the business center is located in a corner of the room and would probably be better placed in a move private area as everything you do is open to the view of others. Check in was OK - the staff member who greeted me seemed less than happy dealing with the public but the front desk manager was superb. Our room was fine enough and we had no major complaints but we had several medium size ones: The internet was slow - sufficient for email and that's about it. This poor internet remains unchanged from two years ago when I stayed here. I had an update for my Mac computer that could not be completed while at this hotel as it kept timing out. I was able to complete the update in less than two minutes when I got to my next hotel, a Best Western in Astoria. Also, you do not stay logged in after about five minutes of inactivity and this means you have to continually enter the username and password. This is very frustrating. An addition that should be seriously considered is an outlet by the sofa or on the night stand adjacent to the sofa for charging devises while using them. The shower was either a weak spray or a hard stream with nothing in between. They need to replace the shower heads soon or at least the one in room 408. The last time I stayed here I mentioned to the staff that they really need to install some ?slow close? mechanisms on the room doors. This has not happened. The result is guests have the displeasure of listening to the result of other guests exiting or entering there rooms without holding onto the door handle. The slamming of doors can be frequent and very loud at times and is disturbing to other quests. A slow close mechanism will solve this problem.

Very comfortable hotel. Well located to the local attractions. Train noise was louder than expected, but not unwelcome. We spent 2 nights in here and would definitely stay here again if we return. OK WiFi, adequate breakfast.

    « Unique Location »

We had a balcony room with a view of the Columbia River, Room 117, and a view of the Bridge of the Gods. This is the bridge that Charles Lindberg flew under in 1927. We could only imagine as we sat on the balcony what that would have been like as he flew past where we were sitting. Also see the old locks and the river boats go by. The entire property was spotless and all staff were helpful and pleasant. They also all spoke English. The breakfast was free, delicious and served at the neighboring Bridge View Restaurant. The pool and hot tub were clean and a nice treat. Highly recommended place to stay.

« Very helpful staff. Beautiful location. »

I travel a lot and stay at Best Westerns to earn points and take advantage of their promotions. Because of this I have been able to purchase and earn travel cards. I had two rooms reserved for my family and paid for them with a stack of travel cards. The young woman at the registration desk was so patient and dealt with me an all of my travel cards and was so nice about it. She made the process very easy considering how much extra attention I needed just to get me and my family checked in. The location by the river and the Bridge of the Gods is beautiful. Definitely planning on staying there again. Breakfast at the Bridgeside was very good. Much better than the traditional hotel buffet breakfast.

    « Wonderful hotel - don't miss this one »

Wonderful hotel. Staff was friendly, room was updated, large, amazing bed and bathroom. The restaurant next door was a great place for the hotel breakfast (included with the room). This was a great hotel, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    « Cascade Locks »

We spent the last 2 nights of our 12 day Pacific North Coast vacation in Cascade Locks at the Best Western Plus Columbia River Inn. We were on the 3rd floor with a spectacular view of the Columbia River! There is so much to see in that area and Best Western was a perfect location for us. And I was thrilled that there was a bathroom fan, some of our previous(national chain) hotels did not have fans in the bathroom. I know, my quirk, but still...

« Great place to stay »

This Best Western Plus in Cascade Locks, OR is terrific. They sent us next door to the Bridgeside Restaurant to order & eat our breakfasts (provided with our room charge). The breakfast choices were many & the staff at Bridgeside were great also. The motel had lounge areas for us to gather as well as great service & staff. The rooms were fairly large and absolutely clean, more towels than we needed. I didn't try the indoor pool but heard it was great also.

    « Nice stay with a view! »

had a room with balcony. View of the river with bridge of the gods. Beautiful! Service was good and staff was friendly. indoor pool with hot tub. Free breakfast at the restaurant next door, which was very delicious. Not you run of the mill self serve breakfast. Housekeeping was ok, trash was not taken out and we were only given one shampoo and conditional for a family of 4. Close to all the parks and sites for the gorge. Wifi is painfully slow, but it's free. Size of the room is big and was comfortable of a family of 4

    4
« Nice Big Room, Great Location...but Freight Trains »

Stayed for a night and we were impressed by the size of the room. Location was terrific - within footsteps of the Bridge of The Gods. Included with the room was a free breakfast at the Bridgeside Cafe next door (a very nice perk). Our room had a view of the river which was very nice indeed. The beds were quite comfortable and the bathroom was fine - nothing special but no problems either. The only negative was that located directly below the hotel was a freight train track and several trains passed by during the night which could get very very noisy. I only noticed the first one. It's not so much the low rumble but the squealing of wheels (think of scraping your fingernails on a chalkboard) that might be a problem. So if you are a light sleeper you might want to ask for a room on the other side (but then you miss the great view).

    5
    « Peaceful and scenic »

Even if the "Century trains" do run by the hotel, you don't hear anything but the somewhat soothing "clack, clack" sound. The views are spectacular, the riverboat, barges and other river traffic are wonderful. Bridge of the Gods is the sight greeting you/ as it towers over the mighty Columbia River. Of course the surrounding mountains are breathtaking....can't beat it. Stayed in the suite, all other rooms sold out. Very happy with everything. Only problem is wanting to stay forever....

    5
    « Standout Experience »

As part of a Volksmarch walking festival, this hotel was truly a standout experience. In a great location on the Columbia River, after a day of hiking the Jacuzzi and pool was perfect. Many outside spaces also to enjoy a glass of wine with views of the gorge. And the rooms were great too!

« A very good hotel, though a little pricey »

The location was very convenient. Our room was large and clean. Everything was in good working order. We had a very pleasing view of the Columbia River. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. This is the first time we stayed in a hotel room with two sinks. This was a great feature, as it enabled my husband and I to wash up, brush our teeth, and shave at the same time. The free hot breakfast was also very good.

    5
    « A pool »

My husband and I were visiting his children there. We had adjoining room and they have a great, warm, indoor pool. When we have visited in years past there has been no pool anywhere. My son told me he thought they had a pool and he was RIGHT! They were also accommodating and when our satellite service didn't work, we could watch tv elsewhere. Great trip !

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. This is the only hotel wqe consider while visiting Cascade Locks. Our room selection was excellent with Columbia river view in the background. We highly recommend this hotel!

    « Wonderful »

I had a wonderful room with a jacuzzi and had a lovely view of the Columbia River. Saw many boats and birds. The bed was very nice, not too hard or too soft. The breakfast at the local restaurant was included in the price of the room and it was very good. The room was clean and tidy when I returned after walking in the Gorge.

« The place to stay »

The room was spacious, (2 queen beds), quiet, clean, comfortable, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating! Even my husband kept singing the hotel praises! I need to have more characters in order to submit this review, so I will add that the staff were very friendly. They seemed to really enjoy being at work, and they took pride in their work.

« Surprised to find such a good hotel in such an out of the way place. »

Staff was excellent and went out of their way for us. The view from our room and from all rooms was spectacular! The only problem was that they had no food service, and gave us breakfast vouchers for the restaurant next door, which only had fixed breakfasts combinations with only one beverage permitted, which meant that you had to pay extra if you wanted both juice and milk or coffee. The room was very large and comfortable.

    « Pleasing Experience »

Our stay at the Cascade Locks Best Western Inn this past weekend was very welcoming, relaxing, and comfortable. In room Jacuzzi tub was a romantic plus, kicking off our 3 day weekend with relaxing hot bath! wink, wink. Outdoor patio overlooking the Columbia River was a very nice gathering point for our group of 7 to close out the evening Saturday. Breakfast next door at the Bridgeside was not to inconvenient, yet the view from the tables was spectacular of the Columbia and the Bridge of the Gods. Wife and I enjoyed our get away immensely. Thank you!

    « Great Stay! »

I decided to try the Best Western in Cascade Locks as it was near many of the waterfall hikes I came to the Columbia River Gorge for. I was pleasantly surprised at the clean and comfortable room and the beautiful view of the Columbia River and the Bridge of the Gods! I loved spending time sitting on the little back deck in the evening watching the sun set over the river. The breakfast was terrific. You get a voucher for the restaurant next door and the food there was great! The hotel also has an indoor pool and a small workout room if you like these things. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I had such a great stay here that a few days later I had some extra time and decided to go back to be able to finish exploring some of the places I ran out of time for.

« Gorgeous Location and Surprisingly Nice Motel »

This motel was a great find. It's located about 15 miles east of Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. We were given a very large, renovated room with attractive decor and great beds. It was on the 2nd floor with a balcony directly overlooking the Columbia River and adjacent bridge to Washington. What a view! Watching the clouds, the trains, the light on the island in the river and the thick forests on the riverbanks, the sightseeing steamboat, and the barge traffic on the river was really enjoyable. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, and the motel is very close to I-84 but completely away from the traffic. If you're a light sleeper, you will hear some train noise during the night, but it was well worth it to me for such a nice motel in such a gorgeous location. This is a great place to stay outside Portland.

We were pleased with the quality and cleanliness of our room. The staff was friendly and helpful. Luckily we asked for a room opposite the train-side, so the noise was not bad. The nearby restaurant was mediocre for breakfast. In summary, this was a good location for exploring the Columbia River Gorge and hiking the trails around Mount Hood.

« Nice view of Hood River »

Hotel was very good by the Hood a River. Room was very clean with decent size. The view from my room was great. There is a busy train cross the river. It was very busy the night we stayed over there. I suspected this rail is very busy all the time. You can find ear plugs in the room which was provided by the hotel. It also include a very good breakfast. Free WIFI was provided. But it was very slow.

We came upon this place first just off the bike trail and were exhausted so it was great it was right where it was, the rooms were large and we could take our bikes in with us. the restaurant was right next door and breakfast was included. the Internet was not good but everything else was top notch

« beautiful views, and wonderful rooms »

My husband and I took our 9 year old grandson to the Columbia River Inn. Our room was very nice, the bathroom was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The room had a great view, and we loved the warm pool. If you go there, bring a fridge thermometer. You need to get pool towels at the front desk, and there is no bathroom in the pool area. The beverage cups are plastic, and the complimentary breakfast is next door. Overall, a wonderful place.

    « One Night Stay »

We were looking for a 1 night stay near Eagle Creek - Tunnel Falls Trail, Oneonta Canyon and Beacon Rock. This was a perfect location. We reserved two rooms, the check-in was quick and easy. Coffee was provided near the hall by the front desk. The rooms were clean. The bed were comfortable. We had a balcony room. It was a beautiful view of the Bridge of the Gods, river and mountains. There was a train track at the bottom of the hill that was concealed by trees. When in the room you could hear it but it was muffled. We enjoyed the sound as it was not over whelming. Breakfast was included. You will be given a voucher for the number of registered guest. The voucher is good for the restaurant next door called the Bridgeside. When you arrive at Bridgeside you will be given a menu specifically for Best Western. There were about 8 choices available; with the option of purchasing other items from the regular menu. The food was good. You go to a counter to place your order and you are given a number tent for your table. Once your meal is ready it is brought to your table. The view is similar to Best Western with wall full of windows. They purchase items locally to prepare menu items. Staff was great but the tables need to be refurbished because they feel like the finish is tacky. There is another part of the restaurant that was closed off. I cannot comment on this area or the menu. It looked like it was more of a dinner area with full service. There was also a gift shop. Back to the Best Western. I cannot comment on the pool or other areas of the hotel because we were not there long enough to explore.

    « Exceed expectations »

Pleasantly surprised by the value of my stay; a terrific location (the views will grab you of the bridge and river valley), supported by a very comfortable hotel. Whatever your reason for being there, you'll be inspired to take a long hike, eat, and then crash onto a decent bed.

    « Friendly »

The staff was very friendly and cooperative from check in to checkout. The setting by the Columbia River is very pictorial. My only recommendation would be to get a room with a view as the non-view rooms are on the highway side. The included breakfast at the restaurant next door was nice.

    4
    « Girls weekend »

This is a beautiful place to watch the Columbia River. The hotel is quiet and clean. The location is close enough but far enough from busier towns. The best part is the breakfast next door at the restaurant. I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy or the NW breakfast combo.

« Great views, convenient to attractions »

Pros: Clean, tidy rooms with great views of river and bridge. Convenient to waterfalls and to Stevenson. Staff were friendly and helpful Cons: Noise from trains require windows to be shut if you want to sleep- earplugs are provided and needed even with windows shut. Included breakfast is at neighboring cafe- is a set menu with several choices but may not suit those who prefer buffet. Cascade Locks restaurants are very basic- it's either fried or in a bun. Hot tub needed maintenance as less than half the bubbler ports were working at the time of my visit.

« All about the grandkids »

Beautiful place. Bridge of the Gods. Columbia River Gorge. We have spent every anniversary at Cascade Locks and Charburger for the last 23 years.. with the exception of the last two years.. This was a make up trip. Always fun. The staff were so friendly and patient when my granddaughters asked about the # 13 not being present. They answered best they could. We will be back.

    « Excellent accommodation »

We have stayed here several times and it never disappoints. Staff if courteous and friendly and the rooms are spotless, not to mention the fantastic view. We counteract the sound of the train directly below the room by keeping the Aircon each night...never a problem and ear-plugs are provided should you need them...we have not.

« Very nice hotel with great views but noisy »

Great hotel! I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the railroad noise during the night. They do provide earplugs but I don't sleep well with earplugs so I was not getting much sleep. Also, the breakfast options were limited because it's not a typical best western breakfast - instead they send you to the restaurant next door with a breakfast voucher for one meal item on the menu. I prefer the traditional buffet style.

    5
    « WOW--WE LOVED OUR STAY! »

My husband and I wanted to see this area and chose this hotel--it was a great choice!!! We also love trains and were happy to see them from our balcony room. We were impressed with the friendly staff from our greeting to our checkout. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. We had an awesome view and sitting on our balcony was super fun. We love to do photography so we really enjoyed the river view on a higher floor. Each room comes with ear plugs if they are needed for the trains but we didn't need them. My husband slept through the whole night and I only woke up a couple of times and went right back to sleep. They include a good complimentary breakfast at the restaurant next door, and they also have a small pool. We appreciated the small refrigerator in the room. All in all, we plan on returning to this very nice hotel.

« Views are fabulous and staff so friendly »

We recently stayed two nights at the Best Western PLUS Columbia River Inn and could not have been more pleased. If you walk to the back of the hotel, there are benches and beautiful views of the Columbia Gorge area. The rooms are clean and roomy and the staff very friendly. When you check in, you are given a voucher for breakfast at the Bridgeside Restaurant right next door. The restaurant has a special menu at the register for Best Western guests, but the best selection is the Cascade Breakfast that comes with eggs, hash brown potatoes, toast and your choice of a meat (sausage, bacon, ham steak). You can also just order something simple, like a bagel, oatmeal if that is your choice, but the Cascade breakfast made us so full we skipped lunch each day we had it. The location is so convenience, too, with the Bridge of the Gods being in eye view that crosses you over into Washington State if you care to visit there. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to people.

    « True Pleasure »

Best Western Plus Columbia River Inn is truly delightful. The staff are excellent, the rooms are wonderful and the setting is perfect. You can have a leisurely breakfast, enjoy the river and have a good nights sleep on a very comfortable bed.

« Pleasure trip with 96 yr young mom »

Traveled with my 96 yr young mom 2nd week of May. Hotel, staff room, grounds were fantastic in every way. Very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable about area and things to do. HOWEVER, the restaurant associated with this hotel is in a separate building and it was cafeteria style and horrible. While the workers were great, food was not nor was the menu. Expect hamburgers and sandwiches and they only have whole grain bread. Did not expect cafeteria food to be associated with this caliber of hotel. It's approx. 11 miles to Multnomah Falls area but drive is beautiful

    « Great location »

This hotel has an excellent location, we were offered two variations of rooms, for an extra $10 we opted for the room with extra living space. The room was huge, with lounge area, table and four chairs and two queen size beds. Staff were very helpful, free coffee available 24/7. Wifi was good but kept dropping out and the only downside was the noise from the rail track. At night the train is noisy, but that didn't detract from our stay.

    4
« It was pretty good »

The motel itself was nice and the workers were nice but when the train goes by at night it's loud and shakes the room some. The pool is nice and the work out room is nice. I would say the only down fall is in the middle of the night when the train goes by.

    4
« Amazing, view, noise train and poor internet »

It was an amazing view but the train woke us up at night, and WiFi is slow and seemed not working. That all I complained about. Besides, cleanliness is average and also the bedding and pillow. I enjoyed a view and a quiet small town.

« Beautiful View - Horrific Trains - Poor Internet »

Oy! I was exhausted from traipsing around Gifford Pinchot, and I needed a last-minute place to sleep before heading home. Luckily, the Best Western had not only an open room but a room with a view! I was so stoked. That stokedness quickly abated when the first freight train, on the WA side, no less, rumbled by. Then another train a stone's throw from my room rumbled by. Then another. And another. Sooooo, no sleep was had, which really sucked because I stayed there because I was too tired to make the drive home. The room was nice enough, but I wish I'd noticed the complimentary EAR PLUGS by the sink. OMG. I would have asked to have been moved immediately. My bad for not seeing them. When I checked out and the front desk person asked about my stay, I said I wish I hadn't been by the train tracks. She told me that when people book directly through them, they inform people of the noise. I told her I booked through the toll-free Best Western number, but she insisted that I booked through a "second party." Too tired to care, I left. Internet: I ended up using my phone as a hot spot as the internet signal was poor. The window opens (nice), but then the trains rumble and screech by (not so nice). Also not so nice are those tiny square pillows. I have no idea what that's about. So, meh. I ended up driving home about as tired as I was when I'd arrived. Poor planning on my part. I'll camp in the national forest next time and save my money. I'm sure I'll sleep better.

    4
« Nicely appointed budget option. »

Beautiful location & views. Free wifi. The free breakfast is in an actual restaurant. The rooms were nicely appointed with new furniture and fixtures. Clean. Although a train runs right below the hotel, the soundproofing is good. It's Quiet. The windows open so you can enjoy the crisp air!

    5
    « Great View! »

Best bed I have EVER slept on. The view is amazing and the voucher provided for breakfast next door much better than most hotel breakfasts. The only drawback is the sound of trains during the night. The provided earplugs were thoughtful, but the ability to have the fan running continuously would have provided the white noise that would have helped a lot. Would stay again!

    5
    « Excellent Stay »

We had very helpful, cordial staff that helped our stay very enjoyable! We used the swimming pool and hot tub and both were in good condition. The view of the Columbia River was beautiful as well as peaceful. We would stay at this hotel again!

« Perfect quiet place right on the river »

This was the perfect place to stay after a day of waterfall watching and hiking in the Columbia River Gorge. Our room had a sweet little balcony overlooking the river and the Bridge of the Gods, and was just delightful. Free delicious breakfast right next door - great place and so reasonable!

« Best Western Cascade Locks, Oregon »

Quite lovely on all levels! Room view, comfort, quality of amenities, services, food, all exceeded expectations. We highly recommend this facility if someone wishes to stay in the area. The river, bridge, and even railroad views were entertaining and lovely.

    « Buyer »

This was our fifth stay at Cascade Locks over the last six years that we've been making this trip. It NEVER declines from stay to stay. In fact, this trip they changed from serving breakfast at the facility to giving us a voucher to step next door at the Bridgeport Restaurant for our morning meal. The change was phenomenal with ample seating, a wide range of choices to fill us for the road and a polite and gracious staff. This is STILL one of our favorite stops with lovely scenery, a restful and quiet stay and plenty of amenities that include conference rooms, outdoor seating, indoor swimming pool, beautiful landscaping and more, all within an historical setting. A must stop for any weary traveler!

Great place to stay with beautiful views. This is the second time we have stayed at the Columbia River Inn. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the river. Also had a great view of the bridge. We spend a good deal of time on the balcony admiring the beauty of this place. Staff was helpful and friendly. We will be back.

You won't find a better view. Bridge of the Gods, the river, river traffic , beautiful sunsets & sunrises. Ask for river view and room with a balcony , you won't regret it. Thunder Island Brewery is a short drive from the hotel.

    « Great views »

We were there on our honeymoon and loved it. The restaurant next door (guest eat free) was great. Limited menu but we enjoyed it. Beautiful view of the Bridge of the Gods and so much to do around there.

« Great place to stay »

We had a beautiful view of the Columbia river and Bridge of the Gods. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast at the nearby Charburger was great. There was a good selection of breakfast options, which was great.

    « Great Stay »

A group of five photographers, we rented 3 rooms. Everything about the stay was a "10". And the restaurant next door (where we had vouchers for free breakfasts) was surprisingly good. One of the best breakfasts I've had anywhere! I'll be back (to the Best Western, and the restaurant.

I choose because of it location, very close to my fishing location on the columbian river I should explain I'm not a fisherman but I was taking photo's of the fish where the salmon run is taking place. My accommodation at the best western where very good complementary breakfast, internet, pool and a hot tub for after climbing around on rocks all day.

    « Gorgeous river view! »

Beautiful clean room with a river view to die for! All of the staff were very friendly. The bed was a comfy as home. We really enjoyed our night here. FYI the train tracks run right by the hotel so you will hear it. Ear plugs are supplied. Quite frankly I didn't mind the trains because the room and view were worth a little train noise. I would recommend this hotel and I hope to return myself someday.

« Pool, View, and Friendly Staff »

I splurged on this hotel--very unusual for me. It was worth the splurge. A clean and convenient indoor pool in which to have a morning swim. No children on weekday mornings! Noticed it was also well equipped for the handicapped with chairs to lower disabled into the pool. Had a rinse off shower at poolside. There is a beautiful view of the river from the balcony side. There is a train track below, but it didn't bother me a bit. Can see how some might be bothered, but earplugs are provided. The wi fi connection is strong and free, but I had a bit of trouble connecting. It needs a password and special name--both supplied--but my computer did not respond to that format for connection and I had to do some computer browsing before I could get it going. There are more than enough plug ins for electronic material. I would have liked more packages of fake sugar for my coffee, and, for that matter, more coffee packages, but I'm sure I could have obtained some if I had asked. I needed help getting all my stuff in and out of my room and the staff was both helpful and enthusiastic about being helpful. Complimentary breakfast is supplied by the restaurant next door. Another great view, good breakfast choices.

    « nice, but trains »

Beautiful place, but we had no idea it was on a major train track with noise all night long. At least they give us earplugs. The pool is clean and nice. The room is very big, suite without balcony for us. The mattress good. The pillows to thick and big, so we used our own. The staff was nice and good coffee and teas to choose from. We may stay again, but make sure we have sleep aide and earplugs due to train traffic 24/7.

    « what a great stay. »

Playing golf at Skamania Lodge and wanted somewhere close and reasonable to stay the night before. This was perfect. Room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Shower was hot and had decent pressure. Best thing was that full breakfast is included at the restaurant next door. Definitely a great deal. If you take off the $20 for breakfast, the room was only $106! Can't beat that. Would stay again.

    « Great Birthday Weekend »

Had a great stay at this hotel, had a beautiful view and would highly recommend! Bed was comfortable, room was beautiful, very clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Will stay again when traveling to Portand. It was nice being outside of town and still close to ammenities.

The best Best Western I've stayed at so far! Friendly staff, big room, super comfortable bed and the location is simply beautiful! Breakfast is served in the restaurant next door. Would stay again!!!!

« Beautiful view, but shabby, dirty room »

It looked good online but upon arriving, quickly found a dirty pillowcase left by another guest with a blood spot on it, took it to the front desk, staff disinterested in that as a problem (!), dirty scum in the bath tub left a feeling of being in a dirty room and sleeping in potentially 'unchanged' sheets! Yuck! I thought Best Western Plus, meant "plus"! Didn't smell clean. Wouldn't stay there again.

« Great location, service and more »

Just back from a few days away from home as I dragged my husband away from work so we could do some hiking. Great location- Cascade Locks has a lot to see and do for such a tiny place. Fantastic hikes are minutes away, river view rooms, easy check in, friendly staff and breakfast vouchers for next door. Small workout facility which we did not use, due to all of our hiking, but it appeared to be clean and well-maintained. The whole facility was very clean. Loved our bedding and the king size bed. Anyone who stays in the Gorge- yes, there are trains. There are earplugs provided in the rooms. If you are a light sleeper as I am, you will probably hear them go by, but my husband did not notice them. Would definitely recommend.

    « Good Clean Hotel »

A nice place to stay with a very clean indoor pool and hot tub to soothe all the aches from all day hiking. Town rolls up sidewalks at 8pm however so beware if arriving late and are hungry. Rooms were clean, beds comfy. River view with small balcony was great. Electronic safe in room and two sinks was nice when two people getting ready to go out at same time. Bathroom very small and hard to dry off without bumping walls. Wish they had a handle for getting in and out of tub. Only negative was train noise although there are earplugs in room. Had issues with the lamps socket area coming off on two of the lamps when turning on or off. Great free breakfast next door. I would stay again next time.

    « Amazing Views »

Overall the stay was nice. The hotel room was a little dirty - floors needed to be cleaned. The breakfast was terrific - provided by the restaurant next door. The train comes right by the hotel early in the morning so if you plan on sleeping in, use the ear plugs they provide.

« Excellent place to stay »

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We got the suite with extra room and it was so much bigger than we anticipated. And the view of the river was spectacular! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and nice. My only complaint was the breakfast next door. (They provide a breakfast with the restaurant next door) I ordered a scone and it was very dry and not very good. The others in our party seemed to like their breakfasts okay, however.

« Nice Hotel, Gorgeous Views »

If you're planning to hike or climb on either side of the Columbia River near here, this is a perfect location -- the hotel sits practically at the east end of the Bridge of the Gods ($1 toll) across the river. Breakfast at Bridgeside next door is a cut above the usual hotel buffet.

    « Great Customer Service »

    « What a gem! »

Stayed here as part of our tour of Oregon! What a great hotel with breakfast included at the restaurant next door. The room was quiet, clean, and comfy. It looked almost brand new from the inside. The staff was attentive, and you are within a stone's throw from the Bridge of the Gods. Stay here, and you can walk the ENTIRE town of Cascade Locks. It has its own charm. You will never want to leave.

« Comfortable hotel with easy access to hikes. »

We very much enjoyed this pet friendly hotel in the Columbia Gorge. We could walk from the hotel to beautiful hiking trails. This was an advantage since it was a very busy weekend and parking was hard to find. Breakfast was at the restaurant next door with many quality complimentary offerings for BW guests. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

« Love the Columbia Gorge »

We had a nice room, it was a family room, it had wonderful view with 3 large windows overlooking the river. Love the pool, used it for several hours. Breakfast was a God send in the morning. I've been coming the Columbia Gorge for 40 years and I LOVE that you combined the restaurant with the hotel for breakfast. GREAT idea!

    « Wonderful experience »

Beautiful views on the Columbia River. The rooms are very luxurious and comfortable. We had a corner room that gave us a grand view. The check in staff was wonderful and really made us feel at home. Included is a full breakfast at the restaurant next door. The check out was quick and accurate.

« One night at the Columbia River »

very nice hotel at a good rate and nice facilities. I did not use the pool or gym but could take a look at a small but nice indoor pool and gym equipment that looked new. The room has been pleasant and big with fridge and microwave, so you can also prepare some food in the room. Breakfast is served next door and pretty good, though as you pick from a menue for a little extra you can also order extra food items. My room was facing the road, which could be in summer with the window open a bit noisy, but OK for one night. For a longer stay I would recommend a room facing the river.

« Good and the Bad »

The views from the river side are great. Worn out bed and pillows. Plumbing from Hell. When the room next to us ran water it sounded like it was in our room. It was louder than the trains passing by. Terrible breakfast.

« Beautiful Place to Stay »

This hotel was right on the Columbia River in Oregon. Standing on the balcony watching the river go by was so relaxing. Being right by the Bridge of Gods was very cool. Will diffidently stay again soon.

« Excellent place to stay with your pet »

If you are driving up the Columbia Gorge with your pet, this is your place. There's lots of grass to walk the dog and it has a good view of the river. You get a breakfast voucher to the restaurant next door. At the restaurant you can pick from five or six breakfast choices. Several of the choices are full breakfast meals. The hotel is much more reasonable in price compared to the hotels in Hood River and it's only 20 miles away.

    5
« Beautiful view of the river and bridge! »

    « pretty nice »

We had a nice stay here, reflective of the quality of Best Western brand. The room was clean and spacious. We didn't hear any of the trains. We liked the close proximity to the Bridge of the Gods. The gym was small, but it had appropriate equipment. Included with your stay is a breakfast voucher to get breakfast at the restaurant next door. Basically we ordered at the counter, and the food was brought out to us. The available food options were basically an abbreviated version of the restaurant's regular menu. I wish I could've gotten an omelet, but it wasn't on the hotel's menu. I also noticed that all the meat options were pig-based. I like variety in my breakfast! All in all, though, it was a nice stay, and for the date we stayed, it was cheaper than the Best Western in Hood River.

    « Great View »

The bed was so comfy. There were trains that came by but they did not bother me. I did have problems with the TV but it was not a huge deal. I called the front desk and they did not know how to help me. The people of Cascade Locks were very friendly and I loved the view I woke up to. The river view is where it is at!

« Cascade Locks, great place to stay »

This hotel has a great view of the Columbia River. It's right off Bridge of the Gods. The restaurant next door has a really good breakfast for good value. There is a brewery within walking distance, and the pub down the street has a good beer selection (but closes early). If you want dinner, I recommend going across the river to Stevenson's Big River Grill.

« Good hotel, nice staff, a little noisy »

We stayed at BWP for two nights over New Year's Eve. This hotel is on the Columbia River at Cascade Locks. It had a soaking tub in the room, and a good view of the River. The staff was nice, and the breakfasts were great. The only problem we encountered was that there is a train track just below the hotel on the river side. It was frequently used by the many trains that travel through the area, but it wasn't horrible once you made yourself accustomed to the noise. The only other thing that was a fairly big distraction was that the plumbing was loud from the room above our room. The people staying in that room used their tub a lot (their right) but it was extremely noisy in our room. At one point we left the hotel all together because they ran the water and the jets in the tub so much. We could hardly talk to each other, or listen to the TV. Next time we will request a room on the top floor. All in all, we had a good stay.

    5
« Great views and relaxing atmosphere »

We wanted to stay near the Bridge of the Gods and this hotel is literally right next to the bridge. It was clean, comfortable and the river side room that we had included an excellent view of the Columbia and the bridge. Due to icy conditions we couldn't get out and hike as we had planned but the room was cozy and we enjoyed staying inside and relaxing. The breakfast provided by the hotel was excellent and we definitely will stay again if we're in the area.

« Great views and ammenities »

We wanted to stay close to Bridge of the Gods in order to do some hiking so chose this hotel. It did not disappoint. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the view of the river and bridge was beautiful. The staff were friendly and the breakfast provided at the restaurant next door was of higher quality than typical hotel breakfasts.

Stayed here over Mother's day weekend for a charity golf tournament with my girlfriend. What a great location, beautiful views and simply gorgeous weather that weekend. Very clean and the staff was wonderful.....plan to return next year for the same tournament!

Beautiful view of river for river views, nice views for mountain view. Clean, lovely, hotel. Great staff. Nice restaurant next door, with affordable prices and homespun meals. Great to relax at. Near our home, so we will be back! We were on the 4th floor and the view was great of the river, even though it was a stormy day. The train below and across the river was audible but not annoyingly so. Good escape out of PDX.

    « Great stay »

Our family had a wonderful time here in mid December. The desk clerks were great and gave us spot on recommendations for the local attractions and dining. Breakfast was great with a spectacular view of the Columbia river and bridge. We also received an unexpected room upgrade. Thank you! The trains do add an unusual twist to the overall experience. Hot tub and pool were great as well. Top notch experience.

This is a great little motel in the Gorge. It is right on the river with great views. The little restaurant next door has great food. The breakfast is a cooked to order at this restaurant. It has great access to the Bridge of the Gods going into Washington.

« Great Hotel with friendly, attentive staff! »

Great hotel experience. The room was very comfortable and clean. We are particular about noise and the room was very quiet. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Breakfast was great, as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

« Awesome Hotel in an awesome location »

This was one of my most enjoyable hotel stays. The location right on the river next to the bridge is beautiful. The restaurant right next door was delicious. Definitely try the ham for breakfast. It was maybe the most delicious ham I have ever had. So much to do in that area. I would love to come back and stay longer. Reasonable price also.

    « Couples Getaway »

We planned a wine tasting trip in the Columbia Gorge area so we made reservations at the Columbia River Inn. I have stayed in many Best Western properties so I was expecting the same quality and service that I have had in the past. My expectations were met with a very nice property, comfortable and spacious room, quality customer service, and a free breakfast in the restaurant next door. My only concern was that we could not use the pool as it was filled with kids and that included the hot tub. An adults only time should be in place so those of us without children can enjoy the pool services too. I will consider staying there again.

« Great place right next to Bridge of the Gods »

We booked this motel online and was not disappointed. We had a river view room with a king bed and Jacuzzi tub. The place is nicely decorated and updated. Check in was a breeze and the front desk staff were extremely helpful. I need to sned a package UPS and they went out odf their to find me a box and insure that UPS picked up my package. Indoor pool looked clean and with the views of the Columbia River this place is one I would definitely stay in again. The only so-so problem was that the free breakfast was in the restaurant next door. Not a problem except it was not very good. We had been staying in Best Westerns for weeks and this one did not have the selections of food and drinks that we had come to expect from this motel chain.

« Lovely room with the best view of Bridge of the Gods and Columbia River »

Best Western in Cascade Locks is one of the best places we've stayed in a long time. I love the Columbia River and Bridge of the Gods and the room had beautiful views of both. The rooms were generous in size, clean and comfortable and the location can't be beat. We'll go there again and again; there is so much to do in the area and this hotel is so conveniently located. Next time though, we must stay longer, one night just isn't enough. The hotel staff is kind and caring; they upgraded our rooms when they couldn't accommodate the floor we requested and when we go back we'll request the same rooms! They knew we'd love the location and they were right, we did! There is a train that goes by several times a day, and maybe at night too, but we were so tired and cozy we didn't even hear it. I hurt my back earlier in the day and the hot tub was the perfect medicine to make it feel better! Oh, I have to mention the free coffee and tea in the lobby, what a warm welcome after traveling and hiking most of the day! Thank you!

    « Trains all night. »

Trains run all night long very close to the hotel. Many of these trains contained a high number of oil cars. We would never stay here again due to the noise and safety issues. This hotel charges like it offers an above average stay, but ammenities are average at best.

« Beautiful location and friendly staff »

This property has an amazing location, on the river near Bridge of the Gods. The staff were great and the room very comfortable. It's an older property, but it has been well maintained. The complimentary breakfast is in the restaurant next door and was incredible. Also, the staff great and made some great recommendations on things to do in the area. I'd return!

« Nice room but view of parking lot »

Could've had a river view if we wanted to pay $60 more for a night. Bummer. Anyway, nice clean rooms. More and more impressed with Best Western. Can't really add too much more. Clean, quiet, well-managed. But $60.00 extra for a river view, really?

« Nice Hotel with views of Columbia River »

Friendly Staff, provided various room options. For an additional few dollars, we got a nice large room overlooking the Columbia River. Nice grounds, very clean rooms. Although train tracks adjacent, below a bluff, we did not hear the trains pass by. Beautiful view of Columbia River and Bridge of the Gods. Breakfast included at next door restaurant - we thought it was very good. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Comfortable »

Very nice comfortable room with a beautiful view of the Columbia River. Historical area with museum of the building of the locks on the river and history about early Oregon trail trip down the river. A great walking or bike trail. Good breakfast with room. Only problem was train noise, but would stay there again.

    « Such a pretty spot »

This BW has to have one of the best views of any Best Western anywhere. Pay extra for the river view side you won't regret it. Breakfast voucher given for the restaurant next door. We lingered as the view was terrific there as well. A tasty breakfast of your choosing is served to your table. If you're not rushing to points south this is a great place to stay for a change up from staying in Portland.

« Best Place in Oregon!! »

This motel is right on the Colombia River!! Our room had a wonderful balcony, a gorgeous view of the river so we sat had our wine and watched the huge paddle boats go by, the fishing boats coming and going and a beautiful sunset on a beautiful bridge that is close by. It was so relaxing and the scenery is breathtaking. The room was really comfortable and the beds were mile high and we never felt so comfortable in a motel in our life!!!!! There is a restaurant right next door with wonderful food, their soup was the best we have ever tasted. Breakfast is served there in the morning and that was good as well. There is a train track that is right next to our room which runs along the river. It was fun to watch but we never heard it at night. The river was beautiful. We want to go back. The town of Cascade Locks was fun, interesting and the locks are something to see.

« Quiet, clean and dog friendly »

I needed a place in the gorge near the waterfalls that allowed dogs. This place meet and exceeded all those criteria. The room was terrific, large and comfortable. Easy access for my dog to the outside without having to go up stairs. There was some road noise, but after about 7pm it quieted down. Easy access to the freeway and the trails in the Gorge.

    « Really good hotel »

We stayed 4 nights in Cascade Locks. The town has nothing much to offer but the scenery is outstanding and that was what we came for. The hotel was great. Very spacious rooms, clean and quiet. Breakfast at the diner next door was included and so big that it lasted us until the evening. Recommended!! The only annoying thing was that you have to constantly log into the WiFi connection again.

    « Excellent Stay. »

The front desk clerk was super friendly and welcoming. Our room had a balcony which overlooked the Columbia river and the Bridge of the Gods - Awesome! The railroad tracks were behind the hotel, but there was not a noise problem. The room was wonderful with a sitting area, two sinks, and a refrigerator. The bed was comfy, the linens were luxurious and pillows perfect. So glad we stayed two nights to enjoy the area. The breakfast was served next door which was convenient and not a problem. The food and service was very good, the view was fabulous. Loved our visit. Easy to recommend. Excellent Stay.

    « Country Atmosphere »

Thanks for a very pleasant week-end. Beautiful scenery! Lovely country, lots of historical places near-by. Spent very little time actually in the hotel. Although the dining area was under construction, we had lovely breakfast offered right next door, good menu and it was Gratis.

    « Nice Place »

This hotel is a nice value and sits overlooking the Colombia River. It is a good place to stay to look around the Gorge and to take a down old Route 30 to see the numerous waterfalls. The front desk staff members were helpful each time we asked for information. Where to grab a pizza, where to take a walk, etc. If you do not stay in a room with a balcony, there is a patio overlooking the river. It is a great view. There is also an indoor pool. From the hotel, you can walk to several restaurants, including a microbrewery that sits next to the river. You can also walk to at least one waterfall, the Pacific Crest Trail, and a few shops. We picked up a nice metal 3-d sculpture at one of the shops. The same people own the restaurant next door, so you get a voucher for breakfast. They have several breakfast choices, but both mornings we were there, I had eggs, toast, and their pepper bacon. The toast is a great multigrain bread.

    « Awesome Hotel »

The accommodations and staff were awesome. The view of the Columbia River and the Bridge of the Gods were breathtaking. What we didn't know when we made the reservation was the proximity of the trains. My husband is a model railroader and the trains provided a complete experience. We will be back.

    « Beautiful View »

Nice view close to Hood River and right next to the Bridge of The Gods to access WA across the river. It's cheaper to stay here then in Hood River. Easy on and off access to the highway. Staff was very upbeat and the room was nice with clean facilities. Good coffee bar. Only negative is the breakfast next door. It's not a Best Western facility. Breakfast was hot but food wasn't very good.

    « Beautiful Location »

Lovely hotel right on the Columbia River with a view of the 'Bridge of the Gods'. Wish we had known to ask for a room with a view. Just a short drive to all the wonderful waterfalls that the Columbia River Gorge is known for. Large clean rooms with all the amenities needed. Free breakfast next door at the Bridgeside Restaurant. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

« Nice place to stay. »

This was a nice hotel. I was traveling solo for a business trip; but would definitely stay here with my family as well. Location is very close to the "Bridge of the Gods" that goes between Oregon and Washington. Didn't have the opportunity to explore the area. But, I would definitely like to return with my family.

« Great location, value and service »

Great beds, great staff. Can't ask for more! Even though they do not provide breakfast in the price, they offer a $5 breakfast special which was fantastic. Also, if you like smoked salmon, the Salmon bagel/cream cheese plate was awesome. They smoke the fish right there - so good!

    2
« No wifi or internet »

In this era it simply is not acceptable to have such terrible wifi/internet access. I've stayed here twice with the same problem. And, they hide the password and access code on page 4 of the guest directory instead of giving you the password with your key cards. So, I'm pretty sure they know exactly how bad it is.Everythig else was OK, but there is no excusee for not providing wifi service that is at least good enough to check your email. I'm writing this from my room by using my I-phone (cell service) as a hot spot.

    « Great View »

I would recommend this hotel based on the view/location, comfortable beds, cleanliness and value. The breakfast was delicious and the view from the restaurant-spectacular. The indoor pool and spa were clean but unimpressive. I'd go back!

« Well appointed hotel in great location »

I recently stayed here as part of a hiking group. I had a single room and was on the non-scenic side of the hotel. As someone who has problems sleeping with noise, this was the best option for me, since the other side has noise from the trains all night long. It is a fabulous location, with outdoor sitting area near the pool, where you can look over the water and the Bridge of the Gods, which you can walk over to be in Washington state and the Pacific Crest Trail. Breakfast is available at the restaurant next door, which is mediocre, but not terrible. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-appointed, the lobby area has coffee and tea available 24 hours a day, coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator are in your room, and a short stroll away are the shops of this small town. Hiking trails are just 10 minutes away. Best Western hotels are often independently owned, and this is one of the good ones.

    « Simple Getaway »

We took a night away from Portland to play with the kids in pool and do the Fruit Loop out toward Hood River! Great accommodations for a family! We loved the room with two queens and a king! Breakfast at the neighboring restaurant was great value and great quality of food! Super for our getaway!

« Wonderful view and great breakfast »

This hotel was the perfect place to stay on our travels from Bend to Puget Sound area of Washington. Expect to hear the trains traveling alongside the Columbia River, but the stunning view is well worth hearing the whistle of trains. Bed and linens were terrific, the (included) breakfast at the restaurant next door (also with stunning views) was totally satisfying and the front desk was helpful and efficient - everything lived up to my expectations. A perfect place to embark on the Historic Highway 30 drive to visit the waterfalls and see the view of the magnificent Columbia Gorge.

    « Beautiful river view »

The hotel is along the river and below the bridge of the Gods. It was beautiful. The balcony was wonderful to watch everything going up and down the river and the bridge. The room was comfortable and the food and view at the restaurant next door was also a great experience. Would stay again.

« Its All True, Tis Place To Stay in Cascade Locks »

The BW Plus seemed like the nicest place available in Cascade Locks, with the best location and the most modern facilities. We were not disappointed. Yes, it costs a bit more, but delivers in spades. We really appreciated the complimentary made to order hot breakfast at the adjacent Bridgeside Restaurant. Its not an all-you-can-eat buffet, but this was just as fast and a whole lot better. The restaurant is also stocked with historical artifacts and doubles as a free museum. If you are arriving late and leaving early, as we were, you can save a few bucks by forgoing the gorgeous gorge view rooms. But you are truly giving up a million dollar view and your own private viewing balcony to do so. For the rural area it is located, the BW plus is definitely the most luxurious and romantic hotel around and it is current enough to be, perhaps, deemed "trendy."

    « Oregon Trip »

Booked this hotel based on its location to the Columbia River. Nice, clean hotel. Unfortunately our king bed was worn out and sagged on my side. Good location. Walking distance to restaurants. Ale house has great salmon chowder, pizza & local microbrew beer. Terrific fresh fruit stand directly across the street. Nice hot breakfast in the restaurant next door was included in the room price. Had a beautiful view of the Columbia River during breakfast. Nice restaurant staff.

    « Great view »

I had a better view than the expensive lodge accross the river for a lot less money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is staying in the gorge. The rooms are large, clean, great view, very friendly employees with nice amenities

« Spending time in the Gorge »

My aunt and I were celebrating my birthday with a trip to Oregon and the Columbia River Gorge. We very much enjoyed our stay at BW-Cascade Locks. The staff was very friendly and also very helpful in giving directions to the local sights and dinner recommendations. The location was perfect for touring the Gorge. An added plus was our magnificent view of the river from our 2nd floor room balcony.

« CAR BROKEN INTO IN PARKING LOT »

While the hotel was lovely, the view beautiful, and the staff friendly and helpful ...our car was broken into in the hotel parking lot at 8 AM with people around. The robbers took about 10 minutes to break out the window and clean out our belongings. Suggestion to the hotel...get security cameras...we were not the first and we will not be the last unfortunately.

    « Like sleeping on a freeway! »

The trains ran all night long 30 feet below the balcony and across the river. No sleep! Then early the next morning they started cutting the lawn and using the blower 10 feet below the window. Holy cow! This was by far the noisiest place I have every stayed and I'm exhausted.

    « Absolutely Gorgeous »

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. The first was over a decade ago. It is still a beautiful area and the hotel is the best. We added a day to our stay so we had two different rooms due to the hotel being full. It was okay because there are so many sights in the area to visit. The first night we stayed in a 2 queen room. This room was very clean and had all the necessary things like coffeemaker, microwave and fridge. It didn't have a balcony but it still had a water view which was beautiful. The next day we moved to the King room we had reserved. This also was extremely clean but had a balcony. The only difference between the two was the balcony and the queen had two sinks where as the King room had just one sink. I loved all the space available to us in both rooms. Be aware this is right next to a active train track which didn't both us but I could see some people not appreciating the noise. We live close to a train track and it felt like home. The restaurant was a great deal. We had the free breakfast deal which lets you chose from a extensive menu that had all kinds choices. You didn't leave hungry. My husband said they made the best eggs ever. This is very convenient to the Portland Airport without staying in the city. My memories from over a decade ago did not fail me this hotel and the beautiful area are a most do.
