Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge

Beautiful spot across the street from the oceanfront. Bathrooms have old fixtures but they're spotless. Newer furnishings. Nice to have a fireplace! Average breakfast buffet. Inexpensive and convenient covered parking. I enjoyed my stay.

Excellent location!. Close to Ocean with a nice balcony for an Ocean view. Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Nice fire pit for relaxing. We have stayed there over a few of the past years and enjoy the balcony view of the ocean and sunsets. The location of the hotel is wonderful! The decor is a bit dated, but is sufficient. This is the first year we have been charged for parking, which was a bit surprising. It would be nice if it would have been easy to see upon registering for our stay. I found the fee, but it was not easily visible.

We loved loved loved this hotel. Andrew and the rest of the staff were very welcoming! The laundry room was conveniently located and took credit cards! In the evening, we enjoyed the sunset from the deck then sat around the fire pit for hours. The breakfast room offers a lot of choices and a clean area for sitting and relaxing and looking at the ocean out of huge windows. The room was cozy and a bit "retro" (old-fashioned) and it was perfect for what we were looking for - a comfortable room that would also hold two bicycles. If we travel to this beach town again we will definitely stay here!

A family of 4, we arrived late evening. The attendant was extremely courteous and helpful, but this is where the excellent experience ended. The floors in the room were very dirty. I don't believe their vacuums work properly, and it's questionable if they mop or clean the fake wood flooring. Rooms are extremely outdated with no bathroom sinks, just a tub/shower & a Toilet. The one sink is conveniently located in the room's entry with no privacy treatment, like a privacy drape, just a wide open viewing to the bedroom, so all occupants can watch you brush your teeth, shave, take a bird bath or do what you normally do in private, you're just on diplay to all. The stairways and hand railings are covered with a black thick dust, so it's necessary to wash your hands and wipe your feet before entering your dated suite. The carpet in our room was coming undone, so if you need to make a sweater while your there, you have plenty of thread. The parking, well it's very limited, in individual cubbyholes, and they typically charge $15 for this lovely ammenity. It appears the building was originally an apartment or similar in build, and I can only imagine it looked at its best when the furnishings were installed and the rooms were decorated circa 1970. We paid $467.00 for our wonderful experience/ expensive lesson. Always do your research. I made the mistake and trusted that the Best Western Brand would have Better Standards. This is my first bad experience, whereby I paid Resort prices to stay at the "Overlook Hotel" from the movie the Shining, just no bartender named Lloyd to greet me. Here's Johnny!

This was my second time staying at this hotel. It is a very close walk to the beach and many restaurants and shops. It is also about a 5 min walk to the coaster train which connects you to the airport with a quick shuttle ride at the end. Breakfast has lots of options. Sunset deck has great views Friendly staff. We took advantage of the free boogie boards and beach chairs rentals. (they also have umbrellas and beach toys).

Terrific ocean view from the breakfast room and terrace deck! Excellent staff, very friendly, efficient, and caring. Reasonable for the area. Rooms do not have direct ocen views, requesr a partial view. I had a good view from my balcony.

Dirty towels. No parking at hotel without extra charge. No fans in the room. Condesnending and rude manager. Told one thing over the phone, learned they don't honor anything said on phone. Only have an ocean view if you lean off your railing and look around the hotel.

The BW Beach View Lodge is in the perfect location for convenience. Park the car & enjoy walking the boardwalk, beach across the street & a few minutes walk into Carlsbad village for bars, restaurants & shopping. Pretty good value for a large room, including breakfast BUT they started charging $15/nt for parking on property, it used to be free. Plenty parking on street.

I absolutely love staying here! Just a block from downtown Carlsbad, across the street from a beautiful beach, amazing sunsets! And the best staff working here that I have ever met! I have told everyone I know to stay here!

The location of this hotel was second to none - directly across the street from Carlsbad State Beach. The viewing balcony was perfect for watching sunsets at the end of the day and the breakfast area has a fantastic view for whale watching. It was a nice surprise that they offered beach chairs. Many restaurants within walking distance. Only criticisms are that there is a fee for the parking but you have the option to park on the street, the breakfast serving area got congested during peak times and no daily maid service.

Excellent walking distance to an amazing beach. We were able to see dolphins, whales, sea lions, and birds on the beach. The sunsets were great. Excellent proximity to other beaches. Walking distance to excellent shopping and dining. The hotel was maintained very well with clean rooms and courtyard. Excellent sitting area of beach from deck.

Had a great experience on our family staycation. Andrew at the desk set a positive tone right from the start by going above and beyond with the check-in. Friendly service, good local advice, and genuine interest in making us feel welcome. All other staff we encountered were also friendly. Used the communal fire pit one evening. Comfortable chairs and such a cozy vibe. Also used the ocean-view seating area as a reading & people-watching perch one morning. Room worked perfectly for us (3 adults). We stayed in the 3rd floor suite (1 king, 1 queen hide-a-bed, 1 rollaway bed), which had a lovely view from the living room over the firepit, pool, and to the ocean. Perfect for catching a sunset. Used the fireplace (I fell asleep reading in front of it one night). Kitchen area was nice for storing food and being able to eat in a separate area instead of the combo sleeping/living area (since we used the hide-a-bed). Shower had plenty of hot water and water pressure was fine. King bed very comfortable. Hide-a-bed wasn't super as I prefer more support (slept on the couch as a couch instead) but never expect much from a hide-a-bed, so it didn't detract much from overall experience. Enjoyed walking along the beach. Great paved path at road level and at beach level, makes a nice loop. Also walked to a couple of restaurants (per Andrew's recommendation) in the area and did some shopping in the Village. Overall very pleased and will likely stay here again.

This place is always our favorite. The upstairs outdoor patio area overlooks the main beach for spectacular sunset watching. The new outdoor firepit is so inviting for winter warmth. Great location only a block from main part of town and the beautiful, long beach walk is directly across the street at Frazee State Beach. What more would we want.

The staff here is so friendly. They offered help frequently. The lounge and deck overlooking the ocean was really nice. Watching sunsets from deck was amazing. Breakfasts were good with variety. Staff at breakfast so friendly.

All staff are very nice and accommodating. Although an older property, the location is terrific, very clean and beds and bedding oh so comfortable. The front desk staff aim to please and the guest lounge which offers free breakfast and coffee throughout the day is very much appreciated and again, staff is awesome. When I return to Carlsbad l will definitely stay here again and can't thank them enough for a very comfortable stay.

Great view every morning with breakfast! We had great service at check-in and our room was clean plus a fireplace. It's a perfect location to walk to the beach or the shopping village. This is wonderful for couples, family, or if you need to stay for business and get to relax when you're not working.

We love getting away for an overnighter once a month. Carlsbad Village is definitely one of our favorite places to go. This Best Western is right across the street from the beach and is within easy walking distance to the town center. The room were clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The staff is friendly and professional. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

The location cannot be beat! The Carlsbad state beach is across the street, so you are not looking at other buildings. Easy access across the street to the beach. All the staff we talked to were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. The woman tending it all three mornings we stayed there was fantastic! This is one of our favorite hotels we have stayed in. The pool was great. The laundry facilities were clean. There is a nice fire pit area, but it was warm when we were there so didn't sit around it, just looked at it from another sitting area. I was in the area for a conference and my family tagged along.

We enjoyed our quick stay here. Wish it would have been longer because everything was great. Enjoyed the location and variety for breakfast. The view of the beach from the common area was enjoyable in comfy chairs. Everyone was friendly and hepful.

This location is amazing! The front desk clerk was pleasant and efficient with check in and the room was exactly as I booked. Both east and west facing rooms have balconies with ocean views and the entire front of this hotel is the ocean front relaxation area including a plexiglass protector - you get the view without being blown away! Being right across from the beach is perfect, and then the Carlsbad village with dining and entertainment is just 2 easy blocks away. The rooms are Best Western standard - clean and neat with the basics covered. I appreciated the fridge and freezer for storing my snacks and I made use of the Keurig (although the coffee at the breakfast area (inluded) was better. In spite of our heat wave, the air conditioning kept the room comfortable and the water pressure in the bathroom worked well. I am a big fan of putting location above high-end accommodations, so this was a perfect weekend for me. The only reason the rating is 4 and not 5 is that you are not paying Best Western prices for this hotel - the rates are comparable to the higher end resorts on the beach front here in Carlsbad. Keep in mind that you are paying a premium for the location rather than the room, but I admit that the management has made every effort to add in other services to make up for that issue. Free Wifi was good, Boogie boards & beach chairs (first come, first served); breakfast that included more than pastries and fruit, and a pool & fireside area that was in full working order with clean/new patio furniture and pillows.

We stayed here while visiting our daughter who lives locally. Check in clerk was very good. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful Room was spacious and clean Breakfast was delightful. Breakfast hostess was doing a wonderful job keeping the food stocked and the area extremely clean and welcoming The patio area was a wonderful spot to watch the waves and the activity on the beach Parking was easily accessible and safe Staff members were all friendly and extremely professional and efficient Will definitely stay here again

The Best Western Plus on Carlsbad Blvd is a fantastic location if you plan to spend a lot of time on the beach and want to walk to restaurants and stores downtown. It is perfect for families and simple travel. Not fancy, but all that you need and perfectly situated. Every staff member was friendly and courteous and supportive. Clean. Easy in and out. On-sight parking too. We'll be back.

We enjoyed everything about this property. The location is amazing, directly across the street from the beach, easily walkable to the village, shops and restaurants. The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were looking for a family friendly hotel and this is exactly what we found here.

My first impression with the exterior was that it was an older hotel, but great location. Front desk was nice and thankfully I have a small car because the parking is very narrow. I went inside the room and it has 80s style mirror closets with gold trimming, very dated room. Asides the flat screen TV and the nice mini fridge, you feel like you're in a very old motel. Flies were inside our room and i had no idea how to get rid of them. I felt itchy after a while, so I honestly had to imagine I was glamping instead of staying in a hotel to stay sane. It's right by the beach and HVAC or insulation sucks because our bedsheets were pretty moist and almost wet once we laid on them. I just came from staying at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay right on the beach paying about $100 more than this hotel and the room was night and day. It's insane how much I paid for this room (similar to Legoland hotel prices). The pool, yikes! it's literally one of those oval pools you see in old motels. I passed by and saw one area with so much sand inside. The ice maker area has two vending machines that are completely empty, but have a trash can full of tons of trash. Where is the maintenance?? I don't get how I am paying 4-star prices and this is the service you receive. If you're not concerned about how I experienced the hotel and just want a great location, then this is a great place for you. If you like clean, modernized rooms, then don't bother with this hotel, you will be grossed out.

Value for the money is NOT there. The location is great, but otherwise- I'd stay elsewhere. Really you're paying for location. We had a wedding rate, and still paid $300/night for a motel...They had a breakfast, which was nice and included, but otherwise, don't have many great things to say. workout room was a closet; wouldn't have gotten in the pool if you paid me; bathroom was subpar. If you can-- stay next door at the springhill suites. We heard it was much nicer!

The hotel was great. The price for the convenience to be walking distance to the ocean and Carslbad Villiage was worth it. The only downfall was even though the vehicles are parked in small cubbies beneath the rooms, they were not safe. ALL of the vehicles parked on the same side were vandalized and there was nothing the hotel would do. There was a camera, but unless we called the police ourselves they wouldn't do anything. Luckily our vehicle was an easy fix, the same could not be the said for others who had more extensive damage. Many unhappy vacationers were going to be leaving that day. I will be back, but I will be cautious with my vehicle.

The hotel and staff were amazing . The rooms were comfortable. We stayed here for a short 2 day vacation. We drove in Riverside and got here @ 2:30PM and check in is at 4:00PM out room was already ready for us! Awesome hotel :) Lovely location!

We lived the friendly staff and how everyone works together. Everyone also staying at the hotel was so happy and relaxed . Simple and perfect for some down to earth family vacation . We will be back .

The location is great short 13 minute drive to Legoland. Right in the middle of all the fun Carlsbad stuff. Walk to Carlsbad Village was about five minutes. The staff was really friendly. Check in and at the continental breakfast everybody was kind. We had one small plumbing issue but it was taken care of the same day by actual plumbers. I would stay there again. The parking stalls were a little tight and first come first serve but I was always able to find a space.

Small place, great staff, clean, great breakfast. Saw the killer whales at breakfast time twice while there. Parking was very tight even for my CX9. Had to let everyone out before parking. That tight. Beds were so comfortable. Pool was perfect temperature. Nice outdoor fire area, great view of ocean from the breakfast area. I would stay there again. Of course very expensive.

Very clean , great priced ,well organized hotel that is extremely convenient. Walk across the street and you are at the beach . Walkability to many restaurants , ice cream shops , convenience stores and shops . Once we parked at the hotel we did not get back in our car until is was time to go back home . A continental breakfast with many choices served from 6:30 to 9:30 am .I definitely recommend staying here for comfort ,cleanliness and convenience .

This is our second time here in 9 months. Perfect location, large room, excellent breakfast and front desk service. Right across the beach. We loved the hotel deck with a clear view of the ocean. It had comfortable lounge chairs and tables

The stay was very enjoyable. The staff was very supportive and friendly, and helped make us feel safe in the days of COVID. The room was large, clean, and with great amenities - there was a fire place!

WE stayed at Carlsbad BW, good value for our $, we know we can rely on a great breakfast experience and so convenient to the beach, the train and so many dining experiences and the staff was willing to make suggestions.

This property was fantastic. The location cannot be beat. The staff was extremely helpful from start to finish. The lodge has a nice layout and beautiful ocean views. Our room had a partial ocean view from the balcony and we couldn't have been happier.

Best Western Beach View Lodge is a great choice for traveling to Carlsbad. The location is fantastic- quick walk to the beach and shops. The staff here is friendly and helpful- the nicest of any hotel I've stayed in. Beautiful property- have breakfast in the breakfast view with its gorgeous view of the ocean and watch the dolphins off the coast!

This hotel was perfectly located across the street from Carlsbad Beach! The view & sunsets from the sun deck couldn't be better. It is in very convenient walking distance from shopping & dining, & there's a very nice walking path across the street along the beach if you prefer not to walk on the sand.

Doesn't look as good as the pictures on the website. The room was Dirty, Old, Outdated, terrible musty moldy odor. Hair in the sheets, gross dirty windows and sliding glass door dirty, wood shade falling apart. When we checked in saw the room, we went directly back to the office and the manager offered to give us a discount off of one night. We did attempt to find another hotel but all were booked for the weekend. Day two, maintenance shut off the water without informing the hotel guests. Emergency or no emergency hotel guests should be notified of the inconvenience. Day three, the housekeepers kept slamming the doors from the supply room in the morning and management refuses to accept responsibility they deny this could even happen. We stood outside and witnessed it, how could we not see that. Over Priced. Parking sucks, we had to park on the street where our vehicle got vandalized. The Website appears to be misleading, Very disappointing.

Great location and common deck area awesome. Dirty and old outdated room. Borderline gross . Falling apart. Shredding Curtains falling off door. Window and door filthy. Scream halfway attached. I feel Ike this is common for hotels to charge outrageous prices because of location but don't care about conditions. Very disappointing.

This hotel is a great location to stay at while visiting Carlsbad. It is within easy walking distance of shopping, dining, and the beach. There is a large open deck on the second floor which is a great place to see the ocean and have breakfast or cocktails. However, the street noise is very loud at rush hour. The rooms overlook the pool which can be noisy at times and the partial ocean view is exactly that, you can see a bit of ocean if you stand out on your balcony. The rooms are more than adequate and beds are comfortable.

The hotel needs major renovation and price changes. It doesn't look as good as the pictures, the view is more so of the street than the water, and they are not organized. I checked out early on time and I was charged extra taxes and an extra night. I called multiple times and they said it was correct, up until I asked for a break down of my charges. I clearly saw what I was over charged for and called them back. I've been waiting on my refund, but only tax refund was processed. This is a MAJOR inconvenience to me, yet they will not address it properly. On top of that, our pillows had stains on them, thankfully I brought my own. I will not be coming back and I am sharing with friends and family about my experience here.

The hotel could use some updating and deep cleaning. The sheets and towels are old (not soft), carpet and bedskirt were dirty. They had to move my room because the sheets on the bed did not look clean. Lots of road noise but great location across from the road.

I chose this hotel as we had a good experience in the past. They've always had great breakfast items in the past and because I had my toddler with me, I was looking forward to that. The breakfast was a big disappointment - packaged food items. The front desk personnel told me there were pancakes/waffles. There was a person taking my order, however, she was very stoic and unfriendly. She said there was a limit on what I could request. When I asked what my limit was, she said to tell her what I wanted and she would let me know when my limit was reached. On the morning of my last day, I wanted to take another visit to the beach before I checked out. I had purchased foods for my toddler for the long drive home. When I got back from the beach, the housekeeping staff were in my room cleaning. I was confused because they had not cleaned my room the entire stay and I had not checked out yet. I informed them that I had not yet checked out as I still had the room for one more hour. They had thrown out all of my child's food including his sippy cup.

S.uper small bathroom H.ardly any “Ocean view” from the room… Although you could stand outside on the balcony and see the ocean in the distance. I.nconvenient parking. I drive an F150, no “big tires” or anything but couldn't get in or out of the truck in the cramped parking. T.otally unwilling to address the fact that I didn't get what I paid for. The owner of the location made two comments that struck a nerve: “That's not us, that's the online marketing for the property” when I expressed to him that I had paid for a room with an ocean view. Blammed TRIPADVISOR for the issue. “We pride ourselves for being 100 steps from the beach” I was 100 steps from the lobby in the room they gave us. We have been here before and left great reviews, but the difference is clearly what room you are in. This stay we were in #37, directly adjacent to Pine street… The Fire Truck route in or out of the area, the Harley with loud pipes up the hill and the light where everyone revs their engines at all hours. The noise from the street reverberates in the ground floor parking and rattles you from sleep. This was meant to be a quiet weekend to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary but instead became weekend of being annoyed from them moment we checked in.

Charged twice for room with 150 dollar difference. Will not honor lower rate. Difficult parking due to limited beach area. Great view and easy access to the beach. Breakfast was limited and had to be taken out to eat. [Not their fault].

I love this hotel. The location is perfect. It's across the street from the beach and easy walking to The Village. The rooms are very nice - spacious and clean! The second story deck is a great place to sit and view the ocean and amazing sunsets. Very friendly and efficient staff Going back in 10 days and I can't wait!

Great location, beautiful views and walking distance to all. We parked our vehicle and spent the whole day exploring Carlsbad, the breakfast amenity is a great way to start your day. Beds are so comfortable.

Our suite was simply tired, and poorly maintained. We rented a suite with a kitchen and was literally nothing in it, except for a microwave, a coffee maker, and a few disposable cups. The window sills and blinds were covered with a layer of dirt. The shower rod and light fixtures were covered in rust. The sofa cushions were stained. The in wall AC units had not been cleaned and the check/service filter light was on. The hotel is advertised as having onsite parking, however, upon checkin I was told there was insufficient parking for everyone at the hotel. I also noticed someone come from a nearby condo complex and access their vehicle in one of Best Western Parking spots. I'm guessing something is happening behind the scenes that isn't benefiting the guests at this Best Western.

I wanted to love this hotel. It is in a great location across the street from the beach and many restaurants in walking distance. The sun deck has an amazing view of the ocean. The hotel needs an overall refresh and the rooms need some help. The beds were hard as a rock, lumpy and you almost fall off the edge of the bed. The bathroom is very small and needs a remodel. I am a frequent visitor to the area and I will find another hotel next time.

Great location, close to the beach, Carlsbad Village and dining. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly. Even though the breakfast was limited due to Covid restrictions, it was good.

Horrible experience. I am professional woman and travel a lot for work. I expected so much based on reviews of this hotel. Sadly, I was deeply let down. The staff was incredulously rude. I work on a contract basis and had told them I was expecting to stay more than one day and when I did not notify them even after having let them know I situation, they literally called the police do you have any escorted out after 24 hours. The manager refuse to be reasonable and would not allow me to contact anyone above his chain of command to deal with the situation. Do not stay here.

Great location in Carlsbad directly across the street from the beach with a beautiful view of the sunset from the viewing area. Easily walkable to Carlsbad Village. Older property, but well maintained and spotlessly clean. Amazing friendly staff. Frequent promos from Best Western make it an even better value than surrounding properties. My first choice in Carlsbad.

HOTEL/ROOM: This is a great hotel! Our suite was spotless and well-appointed. There was plenty of space to unpack and still be comfortable in the room. The bed was excellent and their was very little noise in the room- we even slept with the windows open to hear the waves on the beach. The hotel property is extremely well kept and immaculate. There was not a spot on the glass pool enclosure, or even a leaf on the walkway! Even the covered parking area was swept and tidy. The hotel has a delightful observation deck that is great for enjoying your takeout, playing cards, or having a glass of wine while enjoying the fantastic view. STAFF: The staff we encountered were always smiling and friendly and seemed genuinely glad that we were guests at their hotel. They were quick to help with what we needed- usually more towels or breakfast! LOCATION: This excellent hotel is literally across the street from Carlsbad State Beach; bring your sandals and sunscreen because there is no reason not to hop over and enjoy the sand and scenery! It's also very close to Carlsbad Village; many shops and restaurants are within a quick walk. The hotel staff made excellent recommendations for restaurants as well, so I suggest asking their opinion. I really can't say enough about this Beach View Lodge; I hope we are able to visit them again soon!

The hotel is right across from the beach, you can watch the sunset from the deck, and sip coffe in the morning there too. The room with a fireplace is awesome, very cozy stay. Rooms are clean, smell clean.

The place and view was excellent walking distance to shops and eateries it was our 50 anniversary and because of the coronavirus we had to make other arrangements but thank God I received an email from best western

Possible best location and view from the location (not from the room. Room does not have direct view, no balcony). There was a “View Deck” from 2nd floor and that was wonderful! I could see the best sunset sitting there. Room was very dated, old and had this old-room smell, so I opened up the window when I checked in and left it open for a while. Fireplace was so nice (even though I did not use it…) Microwave and small refrigerator in room. I just put some drinks/ water bottle and left them overnight, did not check the temperature already set. Realized in the morning that all the drinks were frozen… Only the reason I chose “Best Western” was that I had the “GREATEST” Best Western experience from the last BW I stayed. I understand every BW was managed totally differently, so this Carlsbad one was different. Again, the room was very old….but my room was quite “roomy” with bathtub!! Toilet paper was set quite “far away” (?) from toilet seat. I am very short and I had a hard time to reach to the toilet paper. Small pool in the middle of the hotel plus hot tub, both were open at this COVID time. Fitness room was open from 8am-8pm and “appointment only” (I was told). Last BW I stayed, they had this coffee machine in coffee room and coffee was available 24/7, however, this Carlsbad BW, I was informed that coffee was available only during breakfast time. When I went into breakfast room, I was asked for name/room# and the server had to pack items into the bag and I could not touch anything. Even the coffee, I could not put my own sugar/cream in (server had to do that with glove on). I thought that was away too much (for coffee). With a little walk, Carlsbad village is right around the corner. There are plenty of restaurants/bars to choose from. And again, Oceanview was spectacular.

This hotel is in a great location. Very easy access to the beach. Surrounded by great restaurants. Older property but I love the set up. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We would and probably will stay here again.

This is a great location if you are looking to get to the beach quickly or wanting to walk to restaurants and shops. The cost of the rooms compared to the quality is just OK. The pictures on the website do not match what is in the rooms. The rooms are very dated and older than appears in the pictures. For the cost of staying there, I would defiantly look elsewhere next time. The staff was friendly. The rooms were very clean. I also knew the breakfast was minimal and that I understood being Covid. But the questioning of what room we were in and making sure I was the right person when I had a key in my hand and the breakfast place was well out of the way of people coming in off the street. Also, the breakfast was a water bottle, granola bar, and frozen burrito so the checking out of the breakfast food seemed so silly when it was so minimal. In all my years of traveling, I have never been so intrigued about who I was and which room I was in to get a brown bag breakfast. So after the disappointment in the room and weird breakfast service I am not planning on staying here again anytime soon.

Location is great, with in 10 min walk of the village and beach. Carlsbad is a great location for a getaway. The parking as for most of the beach area is suited more towards midsized or smaller vehicles

Located across from beach and a short walk to downtown Carlsbad....lots of restaurants and a great vibe ! We will definitely will be returning. Looking forward to my next trip to Carlsbad and explore more restaurants and shops.

We are trying to figure out how this hotel got its good reviews. We booked this hotel based on them. Don't let them fool you! This is a dingy, dark property. The Front Desk lady was pleasant and did her job well. The room was horribly dark and miserable. It felt like we had stepped back to the 70's, but not in a cool, trendy way. The balcony door had no screen so we couldn't leave it open. The bathroom had ants on the floor and in the tub. The shower and window curtains looked old and wrinkled. The bottles of shampoo, etc, were the smallest we had ever seen and no extra toilet paper. The TV had no guide channel and there was no channel list in the room, so we had no idea about what we were watching. The Front Desk verified that they did, indeed, have no TV guide on the TV or in the room. The phone didn't work. Each time we attempted to call the Front Desk it gave a busy signal. The swimming pool had no loungers, chairs or tables around it. Covid is no excuse for this because all other hotels have these items at their pool. Breakfast was from 6:30 to 9:30, but when he got there at 6:45 we were told the hot sandwiches weren't ready and they were out of yogurt. We were given a frozen breakfast burrito. We microwaved it in the room and I swear it was the nastiest thing we've ever been given in a hotel; a tortilla with meat paste in it! It went straight in the garbage! We checked out and walked to the hotel next door where we found a room for less money and it was 10 times nicer!

Our great experience began with Andrew at check-in. He provided excellent suggestions about the hotel and area. One of our favorite parts of our stay was enjoying the sunset and people watching from the deck. We parked the car and didn't need to use it at all during our stay. Beach access right across the street and so many restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. We were in room #35, a king room with balcony that overlooked Pine Ave. The street noise was pretty loud but we brought a white noise machine to sleep. We didn't use the balcony at all as the view of the beach was obstructed by a palm tree. The room was clean (the carpet was cleaned the day we checked in) and has a fridge and microwave. The individually bagged breakfast is a great effort, but if you are on a low-carb diet there is not much you can eat except boiled eggs. Masks were required in public areas but could be removed while seated on the deck if you wanted to enjoy a beverage/food. The weather was beautiful in the 80s - the locals said it was hot but it felt wonderful to us Phoenicians escaping 110+ temps. We will definitely return to the Beach View Lodge in the future.

Great location and very nice updated rooms. The only downside is the traffic noise if you're towards the front of the building. They handled the Covid thing nicely with a pre-packaged breakfast. The location is great as everywhere in Carbsbad Village, you can just leave your car for a week and never have to get back in as every restaurant, store, beach, bank, everything is within walking distance. This is my favorite go to destination in Cali when I need a break from the scorching Arizona summers!!

I stayed for a few nights during COVID and they have made masks mandatory, however there are always the stickler people who won't wear them... They have placed plastic screens in the lobby and they also have grab and go breakfast. The rooms are a little bit dated, however they are still nice and very large. The hotel is steps from the beach, making it the perfect place for a beach vacation. I will be staying here again if I make it back to Carlsbad!

Room was dusty, had spiderwebs on the walls and in the corners of the baseboards. Found what appeared to be blood splattered on the wall behind the nightstand, ants on the bed, and a pincher big in the bathroom. Shower curtain and rod were rusted. While I realize this is just a Best Western, we're in the middle of a COVID 19 global pandemic, the hotel should at the very minimum ensure their rooms are cleaned and sanitized. I reported these issues to the front desk and they did not seem the least bit concerned or surprised whatsoever. Take your money elsewhere. This place is no better than a run down Motel 6.

Carlsbad, CA is a beautiful destination and it can be fully enjoyed with a stay at the Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge. Located across the street from the beach entrance, you will find all that you need in walking distance. Shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The rooms are spacious and clean. My wife and I enjoyed the rooms on the south side where the balconies have an ocean view. Great spot for couples seeking a weekend of romance. Hotel staff are helpful and the onsite breakfast is a plus, even in the era of pre-packaged food. Onsite parking and great WiFi. Enjoy yourself!

Great location for the beach and to Carlsbad Village! Overall, considering we are traveling in difficult times, I have to say they put really good strategies in place to keep all guest safe. Recommend!

The hotel just opened due to COVID. Not all amenities were available. But the hotel itself is nice. It's across the street from the beach and everything you need is in walking distance. The staff were very friendly.

Staff was friendly and accommodating but hotel could use some updating/deep cleaning. Turned down the sheets the first night and a puff of white lent visibly came from the sheets. There was no fitted bottom sheet - just one tucked into the mattress which after moving during the night had exposed the mattress by morning. Carpets needed to be cleaned as our feet were black on the bottom after walking around for a short amount of time barefoot. We had to empty our own trash 2 of the days we were there after housekeeping had come in and had to call for coffee replacements 2 mornings as well. Not super impressed by what I consider the basics when staying at a hotel.

Stayed for business in room 45. As with a similar review on here I didn't have water or hot water for a day. But take that away, the room was big (a bit outdated) but clean. Breakfast was nice with a view of the ocean. Didn't use the pool or spa, was a bit chilly when we were there The gym is not really a gym. It's just a few machines in a room. But I still used it Staff were helpful and friendly. I would probably stay here again for business.

We found out the hotel was having problems with a boiler when we could not get hot water for a shower at 6:45 a.m.. We had to leave for business appts without having shampooed or freshened-very uncomfortable. The management would only compensate us with 5,000 pts, about one quarter of what the $180.00 room cost. Had we been informed about the possibility of no hot water we would have elected to stay at another hotel. We will not risk staying there again.

We had a fantastic time! The hotel is very conveniently located just across the street from the beach. The views of the ocean from the deck and breakfast room are great! The hotel provided everything we needed to have a great time at the beach including chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, towels and toys! We were in walking distance of a plethora of great restaurants and shops. The pool and hot tub were refreshing and there was a laundry room reasonably priced which was a lifesaver when we all got unexpectedly soaked the first time we went to the beach. The staff is off the charts friendly and helpful! The fireplace in our room added a nice touch. We highly recommend this hotel!

This was my first solo trip after raising four kids and never leaving even my husband for more than one night after 40 years of marriage. I missed my home state of California and the good times that we had with family in Carlsbad. My goal was to take a 7 day vacation to just relax, walk on the beach and visit with family and friends. The location was perfect and although I had a rental car, so much was available within walking distrance. The room was clean and surprisingly the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The guest lounge provided breakfast with a variety of choices, and was clean and well stocked.

Our family has been coming here for the last 10 years. It is quiet and relaxing. We live that it is in walking distance of the village and the beach is just across the street. We have stayed at a few different hotels in the area, but for they are more expensive than the BW and really don't offer anything more.

This hotel has a perfect location in Carlsbad. It is right across the street from the beach with unobstructed views from the second story outdoor deck, which has many rocking chairs and several tables and chairs. It is also is only 2 blocks from the main Village area which has many shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean and well appointed with nice towels and bedding. Our room had a small balcony with two chairs and a partial ocean view. The complimentary breakfast had many choices for food and drink. The breakfast room was clean and bright with beautiful ocean views. The free internet worked well. The bathroom was very small, but clean. The room also had a mini refrigerator, microwave and safe. The compact courtyard included nice landscaping (a large and beautiful camellia bush was blooming), a small, but very clean pool and hot tub, and seating area. The hotel also provided complimentary loans of beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas- very nice service. We enjoyed our stay and would stay at this hotel again.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The place was clean, staff was friendly, the lounge with the breakfast was great, the breakfast offerings were great as well. The views from the 2nd floor patio were outstanding, the location is premium... really, you can go wrong staying here.

We had a blast. The hotel location is right across from the beach and a walking path. They have a big deck with chairs to watch the sunset. There is an enclosed room to gather with friends or family too.

I love staying at this place! The location is perfect. You can walk to everything. I really like the upstairs deck overlooking the ocean. The rocking chairs are great to lounge in while enjoying the view. The breakfast is great with lots of things to choose from. The staff was super helpful and polite!

Was there for business at Camp Pendleton. This is going to be matter of fact. First STAIRS! They are everywhere. Parking is covered at ground level. All the rooms are above the parking. Pool and spa. Looks nice. Lots of places to sit in the courtyard and sunn deck. Room: big. 60's wall paper in good shape. It give it a bit of nostalgia. Good bed and pillows. Nice bathroom. Good TV. Gas fireplace with timer. Breakfast: if you are on a low carb diet, forget it. If you leave before 7:00am forget it. There is coffee in the room but it's small and was gone before 5:30 am. I would suggest a better option for coffee. Area: Sweet! Walk to downtown in 10 minutes. Did I mention stairs. There is an elevator. But there is still 3 of four stairs everywhere. Breakfast are is not accessible. This hotel was built before ADA.

A perfect getaway at a property with a commanding view of the Pacific Ocean. Great staff, comfy rooms at a decent price. Great, free breakfast to boot. Great central location to explore southern California!

Perfect location for easy walking access to the beach and the village of Carlsbad. The breakfast was good. Room was clean. The front desk staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations. Would definitely use this hotel again when staying in the area.

Arrival was challenging as handicapped parking was very restricted and difficult to get into - I could not get out of my car after spending two hours driving to get to hotel from north of Temecula. Idea was to spend night before and night after surgery to make life less stressful. Staff told us we could park in different location with better access from car, to unload bags, walker, etc. Tried to take bags up elevator on cart - stopped by multiple stairs... staff finally came and helped lift baggage cart up stairs to reach elevator, from which we could reach our room without further trouble. Room was very nice, lots of space, full refrigerator, extra seating space for two adults with computers or wanting to eat a meal in room to spread out. Fire place was nice ambient space and also contributed to warmth of rooms. Appreciated extra room for sleeping, eating, livingroom. Would recommend, if not disabled.

The staff was nice and the place was clean. The highway noise was loud and the pillows were hard. We had 2 queen beds and the room was cramped. There is only Liptons for tea. The coffee is weak and there is no half and half.

Old, tacky hotel with a small pool and it's not really on the beach. The room decor is 70s-80s. A guy was also trying to sneak in and there was no security. Prices are not reasonable for the mediocre quality and unsafe conditions. The Manager also refused to talk to me. The one Marine veteran desk clerk was the only good thing about the place.

Hotel was very clean, attentive and very pleasant staff. Fantastic location by the beach and easy walk to restaurants and places to gather. Carlsbad is a beautiful area for a restful vacation and centrally located to towns along the beach. The sunsets are fantastic!

The hotel is in a great location. Across from beach, short walk to great restaurants and shopping. Love this area. Enjoyed the breakfast options. We were able to sit on the second floor in comfortable chairs and watch the sunset every night.

The hotel was chosen by my family in Texas so it was site unseen. It was an excellent location for us to meet as we live in the Palm Springs area. The hotel is across the street from the beautiful Carlsbad beach and walking distance from The Village. We will return very soon !!

This Best Western is right across the street from the beach, and steps from Carlsbad Village. The rooms are very clean. The breakfast is delicious. The people are very friendly and helpful. Our favorite was the rocking chairs on the patio where we could sit to watch the sun set over the ocean every night. We will definitely be coming back here again!

The Best Western Plus Plus in Carlsbad, CA is an excellent choice for your California stay. It is located across the street from the beach in Carlsbad. The view is lovely from the upstairs sitting area. The many rocking chairs and large tables allow you a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the view. The complimentary breakfast offers a well-stocked variety of good and fresh food and drink. Other amenities include a pool, a hot tub, fitness center, beach accessories, and free onsite parking. The hotel is very reasonably priced for the area and staff is very nice.and very accommodating. It was great!

While the exterior of the building shows it being from a different era, this establishment is a wonderful choice if you are staying in the area. The rooms are clean and well stocked. Limited breakfast had more choices than most I have experienced. Staff from front desk to housekeeping were very polite and professional. And it is literally right across the street from the beach and rolling surf. Many places to eat within walking distance. Would definitely be my only option if staying in the area again!

We stayed for four days and everything was great! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is across the street from the beach- each day the hotel provided us with beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and a boogie board. Walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and a 7-11. 3 blocks to the Coaster train, which we rose into San Diego for a day. We were in a King suite- which had lots of room. Every night the sundeck had a perfect view for the sunset.

Location makes it worth a bit more money! Right across from the beach and within walking distance of all the restaurants. The 2nd floor balcony has rocking chairs that created a unique place to drink your morning coffee, have a pre-dinner drink, and watch the sun go down. Covered parking, swimming pool & the jacuzzi all added to our visit. The breakfast has something for everyone, lots of fresh fruit, pastries, dry cereal, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches, a pancake maker, juice, milk and endless coffee. A musty odor in the room upon entry, but minor issue with all the pluses. We will be back!

Great location. wonderful deck to look out and watch the sunset (don't forget your wine). Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast and parking is provided. We have stayed several times and will continue to stay there.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The ocean is a walk across the street, and the views from the patio and breakfast room are beautiful. The rooms are clean and nice and the balcony of my room had an ocean view. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and there is a Farmer's Market on Wednesday afternoons. There is a nice breakfast room, with an ample array of good things to eat. Parking was free when we were there.

Great for beach access (literally across the street) and handy to the village shops, etc. Don't pay for “partial view” as you may have to be on the balcony to get that. Decent continental breakfast. Staff was helpful.

Convenience at its best!!!! Everything was just a couple steps away...we didn't have to drive around searching for parking.(which at the beach can be an unbearable task)..in fact, we didn't even need to drive anywhere the entire stay.

Enjoyed our stay very much. The location is great. The rooms here are average but very clean. They serve a complimentary breakfast that is very small but enough to get you going util lunch. They also provide chairs, umbrellas & towels so you can enjoy the beach.

I am rating the location as it is Located just across the beach, has a nice deck to relax, eat breakfast, view the sunset. Front desk agents during my arrival and check out may not have a warm and friendly demeanor but I will still return to this location.

During our stay, there was a power outage sometime during the night. I woke up because the room was cold. After having a difficult time finding my clothes to get dressed I went to the office only to find it locked and no one available. In the morning I was told that all guest were suppose to get a message concerning the power outage, which we never did. The costumer rep. (LaGayle) mentioned me that there would be some compensation due to the inconvenience. Possibly a full days refund. And that she would mention it to the manager. We decided to stay another day. When we finally left, again LaGayle instructed me to wait until my credit card statement came and if there no refund or some kind of compensation to call back. I did call back and she remembered me and the incident, again the manager was not available. Waited another 30 days to call back. A different person answered and the message was passed on to the manager. Finally, Dave Perry returned my call and informed that he was not able to refund me a full days stay, which was fine with me, but he did mention that there would be some compensation for our inconvenience and it would be in my next statement. Nothing! The integrity of this individual is what concerns me more than the compensation. I feel that they were aware of the power outage and didn't bother to tell me when we asked for a room. I also had to clean the filters in the air conditioners in order to warm up the room. I am retired and travel to California quite frequently because most of my family live in Cali. I just want you to know that you have lost a costumer. Since this incident we have traveled to Lubbock, Tx. Nashville, Tn and Myrtle Beach, SC. we have found out that Home2, although higher priced is very accommodating and any inconvenience's that may occur are immediately addressed. Thank you for you time.

We stayed at the Best Western for 4 nights. Family of 4, sharing one room. 2 double beds. They were small doubles but we slept well. The room has a good bathroom and has a fridge-freezer as well as a microwave. They have a small and clean pool. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, they made our stay special The hotel is on the beach and the hotel provides beach towels, beach chairs, boogy boards, buckets and spades and lots more for your stay. At no charge. Breakfast is lovely We saw dolphins every morning at 8:45am and also pelicans. The whole experience was outstanding and we will be back

The hotel is in a great location. It is just across the street to the beach and an easy walk to town. I really liked that you are able to check out chairs , umbrellas, boogie boards and towels to go to the beach. The breakfast is good and great to eat outside looking at the ocean. They have a great patio to sit and look at the ocean. The suite with the king bed is dark and the sofa bed really needs to be changed out. The pool is small and there is no sitting around the pool. The kids still enjoy playing in it..

My fourth time staying at this hotel. The location is what it's all about. Beach right across the street. Super variety for breakfast. Safe. Clean. WiFi was good. Great idea with Green housekeeping and towels. And the view of the ocean from the deck ......Amazing!!! Got a few of my dinners "to go". Just to sit out there and eat and enjoy!

We booked this place for its location. Unfortunately I think for the price, it should be better. It is certainly in a great spot with the beach directly opposite, and the main village a short stroll. The room was very small for a Twin room. The beds were only doubles which was probably advertised, so my mistake for booking it. With four people in the room it was very cramped. There wasn't enough room for our luggage, and we felt like we were tripping over each other. The bathroom was very dated and it was separated from the sink (very strange layout indeed). On the upside, there is a coin laundry onsite which was very handy. Also, the breakfast included was OK but don't expect too much. All in all our stay in Carlsbad was great. If we chose to visit again, however, I'd choose different accommodation.

Currently staying at this hotel. Stayed at this Best Western in the past, thus the return visit. Was a decent place THEN. Main problem now seems to be with house keeping. We were provided with a roll away bed. First night my daughter opened the bed to use it, the sheets hadn't been changed and were dirty and full of sand. Let it slide, as we were eventually provided with sheets. We made the bed ourselves. Day three of our stay we were running out of toilet paper. Mentioned it to a housekeeper I passed. No toilet paper was provided. Today, day four, we totally ran out of paper. The room was already cleaned. No paper was left. Personally Visited the desk at at 3 PM, advised the desk. Stated they would deliver it. Back from dinner, no toilet paper. Desk finally answered the phone at 8 PM. Advised them we need toilet paper. They advised the hotel ran out of paper, and to use tissues. Guess what? We are low on tissues as well. Great. My other daughter lives a distance away and will bring us supplies herself tomorrow Hopefully we won't need to make use of the bathroom tonight. Guess I can go door to door begging for T paper. How does a place run out of essential supplies? Doubt we will be back

Hotel location is fantastic. On the corner across from the street from the beach. Very modern and clean hotel and rooms. We cant wait to come to back and stay here again. Carlsbad is a very nice California beach town and and this hotel help makes it a unforgettable stay.

We stayed here right before Memorial Day and absolutely loved the location. It's right across the street from the beach and one block from Carlsbad Village. The price for such a grand location was reasonable compared to others in the area. One outstanding feature is the breakfast buffet. One of the best we've ever experienced, plus it is located on the second story with a marvelous ocean view. We also liked the fact we could easily walk to the village area of Carlsbad. The rooms are a bit small with tiny sinks but very comfortable. It's an older hotel but generally well maintained. We enjoyed the whirlpool almost every night. Although it does offer free parking, the spaces are limited and if you are out late, you might have to park on the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. Considering the price other hotels are charging for a room plus parking, plus resort fees, this is an undiscovered jewel. You can get the best price by joining the Best Western Loyalty Rewards program and calling the hotel directly at (760) 729-1151.

Really pleasant comfortable, restful probably the BEST Best Western I've stayed in last few years. Recently renovated. Great access to beach across the street and close to excellent restaurants & shops.. We'll be staying again. Soon.

In general the hotel was pleasant but we felt that the public walkways were scruffy and let the place down. The reality didn't match up to the website photography. Our bedroom was nicely laid out but there was no care to cleanliness. One bin had not been emptied before we checked into the room. The second day the room wasn't cleaned, just the bath towels changed and bins emptied. It wasn't vacuumed nor were the bath or washbasin cleaned. Toiletries weren't replenished. We had to ask for more coffee and cups. Yet there was no reduction in room rate for the second night. By contrast the breakfast hostess really worked hard to keep the area well-stocked and clean. We thought the complimentary breakfast offered a good selection, which we enjoyed while looking out at the surfers across the road. The hotel is well located although you have to be lucky with your timing to get a parking space under the car ports. It is challenging to get your luggage from car to upstairs room, despite there being lifts. There are too many steps etc to navigate to make this easy. All in all not a bad stay but if we came back to Carlsbad we'd look for another hotel.

My sisters and I stayed 2 week nights. It was a great location across from the beach. Restaurants and shops in walking distance. We happened to get there when the town was having a great Farmer's Market. My husband, I and oldest son visited Carlsbad over 25 years ago and still love it. We had a carport for vehicle. The buffet breakfast was lovely with many choices and a friendly lady on staff.

What a treasure of a hotel, a little dated but awesome location and fantastic staff, Rose at the front desk treated me like a person and not just a client, kudos. Nice restaurants in the area and a great place to watch the sunset.

I was charged $250 smoking fee and I have never smoked a cigarette in my entire life!!! I tried to contact the manager multiple times and he completely ignored me. I was forced to take this issue up with corporate and they were so kind. They apologized and issued me a refund. I have stayed at so many hotels and Airbnb's and honestly never had issues. This was the worst. The night front desk person, Luisa and the Manage are honestly the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. This whole experience was terrible. This was my first and last stay at a Best Western.

The hotel is in a great location. The Front Desk and Breakfast attendant were all very friendly. We were fortunate that we could check in early and start our vacation right away. Be prepared, parking is limited and not friendly if you have a full size SUV or larger. Our room was clean, the bathrooms are small, but all you need to do is shower and you can get ready at the sink/vanity area outside of the bathroom. I would have given (5) stars but took away one due too.... The rollaway we received came with a blanket and (4) pillow cases; others we saw were all made up upon delivery (we saw one in the hallway). There were issues with the keys and we had to get a few replacements as they stopped working The gates to the hot tub and pool one afternoon would not open so we could not enjoy the amenties

We came with small children and grandparents, 3 rooms total. Hotel was lovely and quiet, gorgeous ocean views from patio (with rocking chairs!) and breakfast room. Bedroom big, clean, no problem providing crib. Pool warm and sheltered from the wind. Breakfast was superb, so many options, and such a friendly and pleasant lady serving. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Small hotel, not new but is very comfy. Ideal location and beautiful beach view. Experience was really good; I shall say it was very good because of RoseMarie. RoseMarie works at the front desk. Since I opened the door she received me with a genuine and warm smile. I made her a lot of questions about the area and what to do. She was very knowledgeable about the area. Her recommendations were awesome about everything, where to eat, where to shop, local hot spots, what to do and everything was great. Her ability to engage with guests is admirable. After dinner I stop by to thanks RoseMarie, because restaurant was really good, and an elder couple arrived complaining about the AC. Although they were quite hard and impolite, RoseMarie remained calm and composed even when the couple was really hard on her. She handled everything so good that somehow the old couple got out of the front desk office smiling. No doubt RoseMarie will make sure you have a pleasant stay, she is willing to go above and beyond so you can have a great experience.

The location is perfect. Ocean view. So close to downtown. The rocking chairs on the balcony is perfect. Take the time to sit and relax. The staff are so personable. Kelsey in front office is so helpful and sweet. The breakfast room lady is like mom. She's wonderful and helpful. And the breakfast pastries are so fresh and delishes. Local bakery product. Location is great for walking. We'll be back.

This hotel is right across the street from the ocean and an excellent value, considering the location and quality of the accommodations. The room was large, clean and comfortable, with a refrigerator and microwave. Our room had a balcony (a little more expensive) with a partial ocean view. The free breakfast has a good variety and the dining area is on the second floor with a panoramic ocean view. outside the dining area is a deck overlooking the ocean with table and even rocking chairs. There is also covered parking. All things considered, this is an excellent choice.

This our second visit to Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge in the last 5 months. The location is ideal. It's across from a beautifull beach and in close walking distance to amazing food and shopping. The first time we were able to stay in a suite which was extremely spacious and this time we had a King room with a balcony. It wasn't as spacious but it still had a good view. We usually go to San Diego for a quick weekend get-away, but this is my new favorite spot for relaxation and rejuvenation!

This hotel is a "hidden gem" in Carlsbad. We took our parents on a family vacation and were so happy we decided to stay at this Best Western Plus. From the initial reservations to checking out everything was great! All the hotel staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast had lots of good choices and the view from the deck and breakfast room were awesome! I want to send a special thanks to their GM David Perry. Thanks for all of you help. Our family will definitely be back to stay very soon! THANK YOU

It says at the beach but it's by the road. Loud at night. We could hear honking cars. It was disturbing to sleep. Great breakfast. Clean rooms. Friendly stuff. Would be nice to add mark where the lift is located.

Well located with ocean views from public deck as well as breakfast room and from many room balconies. Property is older but meticulously maintained with above average continental breakfast. Easy walking to beach and nice village area with many dining options.

This hotel is located directly across from the beach and just blocks from tons of restaurants in downtown Carlsbad, CA. The property seems to have been recently updated in all the public areas. The room was clean but not super modern. Breakfast is excellent and the staff was all friendly and helpful.

Just had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were professional, welcoming,very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Especially appreciated Dorothy who oversees the breakfast room ( which has a fabulous ocean view by the way). She does a wonderful job of having the breakfast items available, but more than that she is a cheerful , gracious woman who does her best to make sure the guests have all that they need. Also appreciated the excellent help given by David at the front Desk and Richard the handyman when we had couple of special requests. The bed was very comfortable, the room spacious and we loved the fireplace. Good parking available. Good dining options within short walking distance. Veranda upstairs with rocking chairs( and again that fabulous beach view!)

I recommend this hotel. Its a nice priced hotel right on the beach. Great Views from our room. We had a balcony and I enjoyed sitting out there watching the ocean. Our king mattress was newer and was a medium feel so we slept great on it. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our group had three rooms and we all loved it! The pool was warm for the grandkids to enjoy and the hot tub was excellent. The breakfast was great! The location, price and clean rooms will bring us back next year!

I've been wanting to stay in Carlsbad for a long time. When this came available on the BW point promotion, I was able to finally make it. Even with the rain it is lovely. Great walks on sidwalk beachfront. Without all the sand. Very close to so many places to eat. Great free parking. Simple breakfast but nice and great room to sit in overlooking the ocean. This place is right across the street from the beach. Can hear the rolling waves. I think we just found our new favorite spot!

Perfect stay for one night in the off season and the price was reasonable. No frills. Basic breakfast. Helpful staff. Nice room. Across street from beach. Close to restaurants. Good bed. Pillows are too thick for me but someone else might like them.

This is literally as good as it gets if you're trying to have a beach vacation. We knew that this property was close to the beach but we couldn't have predicted how close, about 50 feet from a major beach access. Just cross over Carlsbad Blvd. with a very good crosswalk and you are there! From the very comfortable breakfast room you have an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean in all it's glory. The hot tub and pool courtyard are a delight especially when the sun is setting as is the lounge deck where you can kick back with your take out food with other happy guests. Check out Tommy Bahama beach chairs and sand toys for the kids. Great restaurants within easy walking distance and a surprisingly awesome 7-11 around the corner. Surf shop right across the street. We didn't get in a car once after our arrival. There is absolutely no need to. Go to the beach, relax, surf, play, come back to the hotel, rinse repeat. Great staff. Great to our family. Great breakfast. It's all there.

This hotel is very cozy. Great location and nice outside as well as inside decor. Love the look of this place and the outdoor deck over looking the ocean is magnificent. The fireplace in the room is a lovely touch as well. Would definitely book this place again.

Friendly staff, amazing views, literally across the street from the beach! Walking distance from anything you want. Splurge on a nice dinner at Vigilucci's on State St! It's worth it! We had a suite, very roomy and comfortable!

We had a great stay at this hotel. We often stay at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort across the street, but I decided to stay here instead to save a little bit of money. My kids said they actually preferred this hotel! You can't beat the location. Right across the street from the beach, and walking distance from town. You can hear the train rolling by all night, but that was the only downfall.

This property is on a corner, just across the street from the beach. Our room had a balcony, small and not ocean facing. Rather, it overlooked a residential neighborhood, which was not very serene and relaxing. However, the sun deck overlooks the ocean and has a wonderful view. We watched a beautiful sunset from there. The pool and hot tub are situated in the center of the complex, surrounded by very well designed landscaping, giving you that feeling of cozy and relaxing. And you don't have to walk far to get there, or have to go in the public eye. Only visible and accessible to guests. Breakfast has less items to choose from compared to other BW, but I liked that because you feel you need a 'hot breakfast' and so you try that only to be disappointed. No fake eggs here! Plenty of breads and pastries, cereals, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, drinks, etc. And Dorothy, the breakfast room staffer, really makes you feel like one of the family! She has been there long enough to know the ropes, so if you need anything, she's the go-to girl! Richard from maintenance is very helpful as well. The front desk staff is very helpful and happy, but not as free with information as these two. Just ask your questions, and you'll be fine. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and would return if in the area again.

We usually visit Carlsbad in spring or summer, but I needed to stay there this past week. I got a king room with a partial ocean view for a great price. the hotel seems a wee bit run down but was clean. The lady on the front desk was very polite and helpful. They have free parking and a free breakfast which I did not take advantage of. Over all a pretty good stay. Would definitely stay there again.

Cockroaches. Do I really need to say more than that? Just in case I do I'll say this. This hotel is a plus because of location, nothing more. The rooms are no big deal. But there is a lovely deck that looks out over the ocean, which is nice. In fact, it's the only ocean view available. Despite the fact that this hotel is right across the street from the ocean not a single room has a view. Again, I'm going with cockroaches. 'Nuff said.

Great stay and great view of the beach/ocean, even saw pilot whales from the breakfast room. Walking distance to good food and shopping. Easy access to Carlsbad state beach across the street, very clean.

Friendly customer service. Good breakfast every day. Lower levels very, very noisy. We had a mobility issue so we were put in the accessible room in the back of the property. It was really dark and loud. It looked like it hadn't been updated in years. Would we stay there again? Probably not.

Upgrades to room and elevator was a pleasant surprise since our last stay about two years ago. The staff were very friendly and helpful overall, especially the woman at the desk. She gave me an apple and a granola bar when I checked in late at night because she thought I might be hungry and the fast food restaurants in town were probably closed. So kind and thoughtful! Being so close to the ocean is the reason we returned. Love the deck. Only wish the private balconies had a better view of the ocean when you are seated instead of having to look through the bars.

My husband and I wanted to send a shout out and a thank you to Joan, an exceptional staff member at the Best Western Beach View Lodge in Carlsbad. While checking in, we learned our room was not in working order, and it was the last room available that weekend. Joan went above and beyond making our stay comfortable by contacting their sister hotel down the street to accommodate us. The hotel they sent us to was lovely and we can't thank you enough Joan for your wonderful hospitality. Thank you Best Western Beach View Lodge and staff! You are a top notch hotel that really cares about your guests.

Right across from a huge beautiful beach. The check in staff were snooty because I booked through a third party. One of our towels was wet and dirty. The pool was nice. Our room was dark and only had a small window even though I requested a room with an ocean view. The breakfast was mediocre especially compared to other best westerns. The other hotels in the area looked just as nice. I won't stay here again.

Straight off we were treated so warmly. The room was great with a balcony and partial view of the ocean. It would have been a better view if it weren't for the tree??. We spent most of our leisure time on the deck at the Guest Lounge. The view is awesome. Everyone was so nice and Dorothy at the guest lounge is the best. She keeps the eating and restroom area spotless and well stocked. We had such a great time here that we didn't want to leave. It is central to lots of restaurants within walking distance. The beach is directly across the street as well as a little grassy area where lots of people and dogs go. A man playing a trumpet while sitting on a beach was a frequent entertainer.

It's our second stay here, lovely accommodations across the street from the beach, walking distance to everything, we never used our car once parked. The breakfast is above the usual fare offered at hotels, great assortment, fresh, lovely view.

This is an excellent location, with perfect access to the beach, shopping, and dinning. Be sure to go out on the community balcony to watch the sunset. The staff are all very pleasant. The only real downside might have been any of the egg products at breakfast. They were like rubber, but there was plenty of other things to have, so it is not a huge problem. Hopefully they will change the vendor in the future.

We have stayed at this hotel for many family vacations, ever since I was a little kid. This place was always really nice because of the friendly service and, more importantly, the views of the beach. You can sit back and relax while watching the beach scene take place below. The continental breakfast was always standard of any hotel and wasn't much to rave about. More recently, however; this has changed. The breakfast was absolutely incredible- loaded with pancakes, various pastries and muffins, fresh fruit and yogurt, Jimmy's Dean breakfast sandwiches (heat yourself) and much more. And everything was kept constantly restocked and neatly cleaned. Dorothy was the wonderful woman who managed the breakfast display and she was just fabulous. Dorothy, thank you for your genuine hospitality. It was very much appreciated!

Perfect location for a family beach vacation. It's an easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Staff is very friendly and helpful, provided beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. We had a wonderful breakfast each morning with an ocean view. Loved it!

It was my first time to Carlsbad, traveling along after an intense 5 night stay at the Chopra Center. Wanted some amazing beach time and to be in the center of things. I had early (1 pm) check in and and was able to get out for lunch and explore the beach. Loved everything about this place - you won't be disappointed to stay here!!

We had a room on the third story with a balcony that faced the street. We could see the ocean if we stepped out on the balcony. This is an older hotel but the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The front desk staff were very friendly. The only complaint we had was that we were not told we could receive 250 Best Western points if we did not have a maid come to the room the next day. We never have a maid come to the room while were are traveling so we missed out on the points because they failed to tell us. Keep that in mind if you are a Best Western member.

We wanted a hotel with ocean view and easy access to the beach and this hotel did not disappoint. The location is amazing, right across from the beach, with many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Parking is free, which is a big bonus. We did have a bit of a hiccup at check in. We arrived at 2:30 and were told that our room would hopefully be ready within an hour, and though check in time is at 3 PM, they really mean "after 3 PM." First time I hear of this interpretation of check in time. We were promised a phone call as soon as our room was ready, never got it. We were hanging out on the patio enjoying the view for a while. At 4 PM we finally went back to front desk and they told us they were *just* informed that all rooms were now ready, including ours. Aside from that minor issue, rest of our experience was good. Hotel provides towels, chairs, boogie boards and sand toys for beach goers. Breakfast was pretty decent. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would probably return if staying in oceanfront property is a requirement. Otherwise, it is rather expensive.

We only stay at this hotel. Fabulous location, wonderful staff and a great location! Our son was attending school at GIA. We visited three times and always stayed at this hotel. This last trip, I lost my IPAD while staying at the hotel. It was found, I received a call and it is being mailed to me.

We wanted a quiet hotel near the beach in Carlsbad and were delighted to be able to view the ocean from a lovely outdoor raised patio each evening. The overall location with many delightful restaurants nearby were essential to the great experience we had.

Location is GREAT - directly across the street from beach and walking distance to Carlsbad Village shops and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. WiFi was a little slow, and they could've used larger beds (we had doubles), but overall a great property! Would absolutely stay here again!

We loved this hotel! It's right across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and even has a balcony that overlooks the ocean. We ate their complementary breakfast out on the balcony every morning. There were lots of lunch and dinner options within walking distance of the hotel. What a cute little beach town with super friendly people! We stayed 4 nights and were VERY happy with the housekeeping every morning. The rooms were very clean and stocked every day with fresh towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner as needed. The hot tub and pool were clean and refreshing at the end of the day. Our room had a gas fire place to warm you up in the evenings, as it can get into the upper 60's in the summer evenings. There is a refrigerator to stock with drinks and snacks if you plan on staying a few days and there is a microwave as well. I see a few bad reviews on here, but honestly, those people must have expectations beyond the average vacationing family. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!

This Hotel has old damp carpet. The rooms are dark and damp and are not very well cleaned by staff. They need to have like a love seat or something so that u can sit and enjoy T.V. Prudence the lady that checked me in had alcohol on her breath and was rude.

Stayed here with our kids and their significant others, we stayed here a couple of years ago. We will stay here every time we come back to southern California, I love the hotel and the staff. They go above and beyond for people, they have beach chairs and towels for people to use. They also have sand toys, boogie boards for their guests to use. We saw a couple of dolphins swimming close to shore one morning at breakfast. We will be staying there in July of next year.

As a solo, older traveller, I pay attention to details, research a lot and read current reviews before I choose my accommodations. I'm pleased to share that my stay here was everything I expected and better. The location was perfect for me. It was an easy walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. My room was clean. The bed was comfortable and I got to relax on the sun deck, overlooking the beach. Many others have written about the friendliness, kindness and helpfulness of the staff and I personally can attest to this, too. Prudence, the hotel supervisor was warm and welcoming. Dorthy, in charge of the breakfast area, was lovely to chat with, was willing to handle any request and impressed me with her conscientiousness to keep the area well stocked and well maintained. I had a great overnight stay and a lovely experience.

The views are awesome. You can eat breakfast while watching the ocean. The staff is also incredibly helpful, especially Dorothy. The rooms are nice too. They have a great breakfast in the morning. And it's walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and shops. Will stay here again.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the location is right across the street from the beach. The supervisor, Prudence, checked us in early and found my lost pillow after we checked out. She is the star of this hotel! We will definitely be back.

The hotel is situated in a corner street. Directly across, walking distance is Carlsbad state beach. Beach is beautiful. You can walk the shore for miles. Watch surfers trying to catch their perfect wave. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff was amazing. Prudence we very helpful and friendly. Dorothy was sweet and lovely to chat with. Sitting on the patio enjoying the ocean view was my favorite part. Breakfast was great, more than enough Coffee shops near by. Carlsbad village walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

My wife and I had stayed at this Best Western many years ago prior to its more recent upgrades and already thought it was a great location. Now we love it even more. They have really made it a great place to relax and enjoy the perfect location directly across the street from the ocean. The deck offers a great view out onto the Pacific and the very nice beach that accompanies this spot on the coast. The room was very comfortable and the housekeeping staff always kept it clean and presentable. The separation of the vanity from the bath was a great touch and made for getting ready each day a lot quicker for my wife and I. The balcony offered a partial view of the beach and a nice spot to relax after our travels around the village each day. A small fridge and micro wave and in-room coffee maker made it nice for later morning starts when we didn't take advantage of the very nice continental breakfast that was offered each morning in the community room that also provided a great view of the beach. The staff always supplied a great array of danish, fresh fruit, cereals, snack bars, and if you wanted something hot, a nifty pancake maker or breakfast sandwiches that you could microwave. Plenty of coffee as well as teas and juices were available. The property had a nice small swimming pool and hot tub in the courtyard. There are also laundry facilities on the property if you choose to do your own during your stay with detergent, quarters and dryer sheets provided by the hotel. Everyone we dealt with on the staff were very nice, helpful and professional including Prudence, the Manager, Joan the weekend clerk who got us checked in and Dorothy who made sure the continental breakfast was stocked and room clean. There is an elevator available so the property is handicapped friendly. The only small drawback is the car port parking which is a little tight and doesn't accommodate bigger vehicles well but that was easily overcome. Will be back on our next trip to Carlsbad.

My wife and I visited Carlsbad for our babymoon and decided to stay at BW due to location and price. We were checked in and greeted promptly. The property looks great from the street and has great beach views. We received our keys and headed to our room. Nice room, wall ac, small bathroom, nice deck with ocean views. Certainly nothing to complain about. This property is perfectly located, within walking distance to everything Carlsbad has to offer. It also offers free breakfast! Perfect for any family travelling. We loved the sun deck for sun sets. The downside: The pool is located right in the middle of the property. It is nice to be able to jump in but there are very few chairs to sit at. Also a small hot tub. Due to little sun hitting the area, probably makes more sense to have nice fire pits for guests to sit around instead. Carpets in the hallways/elevator - Hotel needs to invest in new flooring in common ground area. Bathroom shower had very low water pressure. Must update bathrooms/showers. Overall, Carlsbad is not the type of place you spend a ton of time in the room and this property offers a great spot to walk around and access to beach. I think BW will put some money into this property in the near term and it will be great. Suggestions: You need to put a tv and little bar on that sundeck to monetize. The common area where breakfast is served should be open all day and maybe roll out ping pong tables/board games for kids at night? We will be back to Carlsbad and BW thanks to location and the staff.

hotel was perfect location across from beach --we saw dolphins in the mornings. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a very nice location busy during the day but very quiet after 8. Kids loved the pool & hot tub. Rooms were very clean, no bed bugs & staff very friendly. We loved Dorothy every morning during our continental breakfast--she was so pleasant & sweet. We look forwarded to talking to her daily. Awesome hotel & perfect location with great view of beach & very safe.

Had the fireplace room, which was nice to take off the morning chill - very comfy bed (& they were receiving new mattresses the day we checked out) - carpet was tired - bit dark & noisy from the traffic noise - excellent location - nice terrace with view of main drag & beach - decent breakfast - has a pool & hot tub but I never used them.

Great location , clean and comfortable. Right across from beach , restaurants and shops right there and easy walk to main part of town. Came to Carlsbad to take a class at the flower farm. Was perfect for my overnight stay.

We had a great stay here - loved the location (so easy to walk to the beach or to town). The rooms were nice and I liked that ours had a separate sink area from the toilet/shower. I also like their conservation program - instead of having the room cleaned every day, you can elect to have fresh towels/toiletries dropped off - which is perfect if you're just staying the weekend. I also cannot say enough good things about the front desk staff - they were SO friendly and SO helpful (even making a reservation for a group of 20 of us at a fantastic Italian restaurant). Finally, I loved that the hotel had beach chairs (backpack version!) and towels - it made it entirely stress free.

We really enjoyed our stay at the BW Plus Beach View Lodge. The location across from the state park/beach and close to restaurants is ideal. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable; the hotel is on a semi-busy street so if you're a light sleeper you may want to take ear plugs. Pool is warm and clean, perfect for kids.

great hotel with pool and hot tub in the center area, had the beach right across the street and hotel provided beach chairs, towels, boogie boards. room cleaned everyday and breakfast provided in the guest lobby from 7-10am. walking distance to everything within Carlsbad village area, many restaurants, bars, dessert spots to go to, quick drive to everything else. Great spot to stay overall, had an amazing time.

The hotel was comfortable and the staff were excellent but the hotel is old and needs a makeover. We thought it was very overpriced despite the location. The included breakfast was very underwhelming.

We were looking to get away for the weekend and be close to the beach. This was the PERFECT spot! Clean, super friendly, spacious and walking distance to everywhere. Loved it! The ocean and walking trail were right across the street. The downtown area is 10 minute walk or less. Great food and shopping! There was a live band at one of the downtown restaurants. Great beachfront community with a lot of ambiance.

The location is good, and the breakfast room and lobby are pretty. On our trip, that was it for the positives. We booked a suite and paid upwards of $300. The room stunk of mildew. The source may been been the shower, which leaked constantly, and the toilet made an odd backing-up sound. We'd booked a suite specifically so our daughter would have her own space and we would all sleep well. But the pull-out sofa bed in the living area was unusable. Our daughter, who has a very mild dust mite allergy, was coughing and sneezing and her nose running so badly after 20 minutes on it that we had to have her sleep with us. That had never happened to her before, and we travel regularly. Clearly the sofa bed was either extremely old or had not been properly cleaned. We were staying one night, had arrived late, and were leaving early, so we didn't bother with trying to move rooms or get the hotel to fix the shower. Perhaps other rooms are better. But we'll never come back here to find out.

Great location but no sound control in rooms. We could hear every footstep in hall, every door opening and closing, water in pipes, every conversation, and every car passing. We were told no one had complained before and nothing was done about a party next door for hours. Floor carpet was slimy.

If you are looking for a place with the perfect location in Carlsbad, then this is it. It is directly across the street from a great beach and walking distance to center of town with restaurants and shopping. The hotel is old fashioned motel style, but the rooms have been renovated to be up to date and very comfortable. It isn't fancy by any means, but the bed and pillows are very comfortable, the tv is large, and the room is stocked with personal items and a coffee maker. Another plus is the friendly staff, complimentary parking, and complimentary breakfast. The only caveat is that when you book the room, it promises an ocean balcony. That is very true, but the motel is situated sideways, so you cannot see the ocean from the inside of the room, you have to be out on the balcony to see the ocean. This was a bit of a surprise when we booked the room, because we specifically wanted a room with an ocean view for my husband's birthday. We still recommend staying at this place overall.

This lodge was well situated with a sun deck over looking the beach, it was very handy for walking to restaurants and shops. The room was clean and comfortable, though the complimentary breakfast was disappointing, no coffee after 10am. Staff explained there was a problem with the kitchen facilities.

First time at this property and would stay again in a heartbeat. Booked the family into a room with two doubles and a partial ocean view balcony. The ocean is directly across the street (via two crosswalks) and there are unobstructed views from the front of the property. If you want to wake up every morning with a full ocean view be sure to request a room facing west near the lobby. Prices were extremely reasonable, but it was the staff that made our stay AMAZING. Prudence checked us in and immediately offered us beach chairs so that we could walk down to the beach and enjoy the afternoon sun. If you didn't bring your beach necessities with you, don't worry, the front desk staff probably has what you need. The staff working the continental breakfast is so thoughtful and helpful. The needs of the picky eaters in the group were easily met and everything at breakfast was clean and extremely well-organized. Plenty of meal options within walking distance. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. If you really want to be close to the beach, don't want to spend a fortune, and enjoy being treated well by staff this is a great option. Note: if for any reason you have trouble with inclines please note that the access to the beach is a steep gravel/paved (not smooth) incline that might prove a little tough on the knees. Also, the rooms at the property are mostly accessed by stairs, but an elevator is available. Finally (this is California after all) parking is underneath the property and the spaces are California parking space sized, so if you are planning to bring the full-size SUV or pick-up, be warned that parking might be a challenge.

Great location near beach and downtown area/restaurants. Dry breakfast adequate with cereal, muffins, microwave breakfast sandwiches. WiFi was bad . Pool , hot tub great and clean . Limited sun until mid day at pool due to building shade.

Clean modern, and well managed hotel steps to beach and in the quaint town of Carlsbad. Great beds, friendly staff, and acceptable dry continental breakfast. Full ocean views are in the common areas. Partial ocean views if your room is on the side with a balcony. No laundry machines.

My wife and I spent a lovely night in downtown Carlsbad Village and stayed at this nice hotel. Rooms were big, clean and nice balcony. We had a bit of a view which was nice. We were not able to check in at 3 beacuse of a housekeeper that called in sick, but Nick at the desk ran up to our room to help get it done when a new reservation person arrived. We ended up in our room only 40 minutes late and he gave us a nice discount for our troubles. The location across the street from the ocean and two blocks from the village was terrific. We easily stumbled home from a night at Coyotes. Breakfast bar was OK. My only complaints are that the rooms are not very soundproofed and we could hear a lot of noise and that some light got into the room beacuse the bathroom window was near a light you could not get rid of

I stayed at the Best Western + in Carlsbad, California. This place was GREAT!!! Right on the ocean and beach!!! The whole place was so eclectic and great!!! I had great sleeps, great white noise, a workout room, breakfast and the whole place was clean. It has a lot of area outside in the courtyard, including a great pool!!! I would stay here every time I'm in the San Diego area. Very conveniently located at 3180 Carlsbad BLVD and near great shopping and restaurants and bars within an easy walk…. Try this place!!!!!

Love this hotel! People are friendly and view is fabulous! Dorothy was a delight to greet us every morning and the staff was there for anything we needed! Pool was nice and very clean. It was truly a favorite and will return again!

Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge is wonderful! The rooms were very nice and the location is amazing! You can walk right across the street to the beautiful beach. We also walked to Carlsbad village every evening and enjoyed the boutique shopping, amazing restaurants and bars, and live entertainment! The staff was wonderful. Mike at the front desk was great. When he knew we were going over to the beach he gave us beach chairs, towels, and boogie boards all free of charge. Also the ladies taking care of the breakfast area were wonderful. The free breakfast was very nice. It will even be better when they get their kitchen open. We also enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely be staying here again anytime we are in the area.

This was our 3rd stop on our 12 day road trip from Las Vegas through Southern California. We are Best Western diamond level reward members and this was one of the best BW hotels we have stayed in. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy with lots of pillows to choose from, the free WiFi was consistent, the shower was great and the staff were friendly and eager to help. We had plans to utilize the guest laundry on this stop, but when we tried, the washer was not working. Not a problem for them. Once they were notified, our laundry was immediately taken to the hotel laundry, washed, dried, folded and delivered to our room. The breakfast area is being remodeled, but with the beautiful weather while we were there, we enjoyed eating on the oceanfront deck! Every aspect of this facility was great from the friendly check-in to our check-out. If we ever have the opportunity to travel to the west coast again, this will certainly be where we'll spend our time.

We arrived on December 31 for a relaxing stress free, low key NYE celebration. The hotel is directly across from the beach, great views and the town of Carlsbad is very walkable. We left our car parked for 2 days, and explored the town and Beach on foot. Best Western Plus is not a fancy hotel, but it is a rare gem, everything about the hotel was perfect. It was clean, comfortable beds, great internet, a fireplace, breakfast, and directly across from the beach. All the staff made our stay so comfortable, everyone was so nice and helpful. We will be back. Perfect

This place is very nice. Best location, walk across the street to a great state park/beach. No added fees. Parking is free. Decent breakfast, but kitchen was closed for remodeling. Rooms could use brighter lighting. Watch the sun fall into the ocean every night, what a view. Walk to the Carlsbad village. Will return. Great value for the money, for a Carlsbad location. Receptionist, Prudence couldn't do enough to help. All hotels should be run this way. Smiles all the way around.

This hotel is in the perfect location. Great ocean views, easy access to ocean and close to shops and restuarants. Will definetly stay here again. The staff is very friendly and the overall experience is a 10!

Great spot directly across from a state beach, offering great views, especially of the sunset which can be enjoyed while sitting on a beautiful 2nd floor deck, complete with comfy chairs, tables and chaise lounges. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the property also offers a small but spotless swimming pool and a cozy but well appointed fitness center.

Love the location. You can walk across the street to the beach . Love to lounge you can sit on the porch overlooking the beach and enjoy stellar sun sets! Close to shopping, restaurants and wine bars.

Across the street from the beach, great little sun deck and walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in Carlsbad Village + free parking. The rooms were spacious (albeit a bit dark). Loved the fireplace. Only glitch was no hot water for about 6 hours but luckily it was on by morning. Breakfast was a little blah so we chose not to eat there. Overall a good deal for the location.

Staff was very helpful. We watched the sun sink into the ocean from the deck. Jacuzzi was perfect temperature. Walking distance to restaurants. Beach was directly across street so we could walk long stretches of sand. Wonderful getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay in Carlsbad and loved staying at the Best Western Premier Beach View. This is THE best location to be, directly across from a spectacular white sand beach that is easy to access with a wide paved path. We drove past several other hotels we had considered and their locations were not even close to as nice as this one. The hotel is so well kept up with many nice details. The breakfast room is beautiful with an amazing view of the beach. There's also a wooden deck outside the breakfast room to eat and enjoy the view. Carlsbad Village is adorable and so easy to walk to from this hotel. We ate at several great restaurants and enjoyed the shops. The manager of this hotel, Prudence, is so welcoming and helpful with any questions you may have during your stay. We really loved it here and have already recommended it to friends and family.

We stayed at this Best Western during Thanksgiving holiday (so understandably we paid a bit over the normal rate). There were other options but we had chosen this hotel because it looked more unique and seemed to be well-liked by others. What we liked: Staffs were friendly Location was fantastic. You were just seconds from the beach. It was also very close to the town center. Good quality breakfast, plenty to chose from. You can also get a nice view of the water. What we didn't like: We were upgraded to a suite, but while the room was bigger, this room was not as good as the normal room. Compare to other traveller's picture, in this room the furnitures feel just randomly placed, and walls are just painted stud wall. The furnitures also feel a bit old and tired. For example the sofa was really soft and give a loud creaking noise when you sat on it. The suite also didn't have any view. The main windows are looking into the corridors and the room windows is looking at another house at the back.

Large rooms, incredibly friendly and accomodating staff, free covered parking, and proximity to Carlsbad Village (5 min. Walk) and the beach (right across the street). You really can't beat the value here. The only downside was the size of the bathroom, which was truly tiny, but then, how much time do you really spend in the bathroom?

Excellent stay and service. Google has the wrong directions but the night person was able to guide me there. Staff was friendly and ready for excellent dinner reservations. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located just across Carlsbad Blvd. from the best stretch of beach in Carlsbad. There are lots of restaurants nearby and the hotel is within walking distance of Carlsbad Village for shopping and restaurants.

This place is excellent. The food is good, the pools and water slides were such a wonderful treat. We stayed the weekend before Halloween and the kidstopia staff took my son trick or treating around the property! The s'mores at night were good fun too! Luca checked us in with front desk sophistication and charm! He had a kids activity bag for my toddler and a great smile whenever he saw us. Luis, the guest services manager, was incredible. He was kind to my son and courteous to me and I look forward to going back The only downside was that the walls are extremely thin and I didn't get a wink of sleep due to an infant crying ever 1.5-2 hours lasting 20 minutes each time. At one point I phoned the front desk at 4am and begged them to send the room next door some warm milk and charge it to me. Lol I would definitely make sure I request not to be next to an infant room. It's a shame too because the bedding was so comfortable and under normal circumstances, I bet I would have had an amazing sleep! I look forward to returning! Nadia

The hotel is in a perfect setting, and the amenities were great; but the staff was the best. We normally stay at a different chain, but thanks to our fabulous stay at Best Western, we'll be changing our hotel choice to Best Western. Thank you for a great experience

This hotel was really nice and quiet. Staff was very friendly and helpful at the front desk and in the cafeteria. Variety for breakfast items was good as well. Amazing view! The hotel looks a little old, but the rooms are really nice. This was one of the most relaxing and peaceful hotel stays I've had so far.

I enjoyed a terrific-but-too-short, two-night stay. From the moment I set foot in the lobby, the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. Free covered parking is a nice plus. Just park and you can walk to the beach (right across the street) or to the Village for restaurants, shops, bars, wine tasting - a quick two blocks away. The room was very clean. I had a balcony with a partial ocean view. Honestly, for as much time as I spent out there (too busy enjoying Carlsbad), not sure it was worth it for me. And everyone can enjoy the great, unobstructed ocean view from the deck off the breakfast room. What a nice area to catch a sunset, relax, enjoy coffee, etc. The bed was comfortable. Wifi worked well everywhere on the property. The bathroom was small but functional. Even good quality toilet paper. The breakfast area was immaculate and well stocked with fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, juice. I would go back in a heartbeat!

The entire experience was very nice except there was no hot water in the shower. Still a beautiful place. Very friendly. Large room with fireplace, nice continental breakfast, beautiful ocean view. Large TV, peaceful, good parking, nice patio and breakfast room. Would stay there again if reassured there would be hot water.. Very nice.

Stayed 5 nights for a wedding/LEGOLAND/beach time with the family. Having a separate room was perfect for the family. Bathroom was a little small but the size of the hotel room (with kitchen) made up for the bathroom. Hotel is a bit aged but ties in with the beach experience. A good family vacation spot!

This hotel is right across from the beach! Literally! :) It also had a pool and hot tub which weren't big, but worked great for our purposes. The breakfast was pre-packaged, but they had a sign up that they were remodeling their kitchen, so by code they had to serve only pre-packaged food until the kitchen was finished. With the ocean view right out of the dining room, any food would've been fine! The beds were very comfortable which you know isn't always the case other places. The windows didn't block noise within the courtyard very well -- they're older and the first night we were woken up by people talking as they walked by and they weren't even talking very loudly. The following nights we just used a white noise app on our phone and that took care of the problem. We slept great! Free parking was a nice touch because space is at such a premium that close to the beach. We were also able to easily walk to several restaurants, souvenir shops, and a convenience store, so that was nice.

Location is fantastically right across from the beach with ocean view from the terrace to watch the waves and sunsets, Front desk staff Prudence and Angela were very gracious and cheerfully answered all questions. I was greeted with a smile every morning by Dorthy and was warmly assisted with food and service in the breakfast room. Accommodations were quite comfortable and clean. Pool and spa looked very clean, although I didn't try them. Located on the edge of the Village and in walking distance to great restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again if in Carlsbad!

If you are planning a trip to Carlsbad this is the perfect hotel. The staff is amazing and always so cheerful. It's right across the street from the beach. Located within walking distance from many restraints and shopping. There is no need to drive anywhere else. One our favorite things was waking up early to watch the sunrise on the hotels patio overlooking the ocean. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely return again.

Enjoyed a weeklong stay at this near the beach hotel. While a somewhat dated building it has been tastefully remodeled. Nevertheless it is a very clean and relaxing establishment. Hotel staff are very helpful, especially Prudence (Hotel Supervisor) who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Love the location and sitting on the deck watching the ocean. Also love the craftsman style architecture of the main building. Standard king room was large and comfortable. Bathroom commode and shower/tub room is tiny but adequate. Separate sink and mirror area is spacious but could use better lighting. Balconies do not face ocean, but you can see ocean to the side. Continental breakfast is adequate, but made up for by beautiful deck and lovely indoor,ocean-facing room. You are on busy road, just across from beach, but with a/c on, we weren't bothered by road noise. Have stayed here 3x and never disappointed. Rooms all face inner courtyard, and free parking is a plus. Altogether, very good experience!

Excellent stay! From check in to check out it was awesome. Prudence and Joan at the desk, and Irene at breakfast, were so friendly and helpful. The building is clean and well kept. The rooms are updated and clean, and very spacious. The 2nd floor patio overlooking the ocean was incredible. We spent many hours there lounging. They have beach gear readily available - sand toys, towels, chairs, umbrella, boogie board. The location is ideal. A safe and easy crossing of the street and you're at a clean (no seaweed!), manicured beach. A block north and you're in the center of darling Carlsbad village, where there are tons of restaurants and shops. We strolled every night. 7-11 is right next door, which is convenient. Across the street and running for miles south is a wide sidewalk where you can walk/run along the beach. Carlsbad is adorable, this hotel is in a prime spot. I can't wait to come back!

Nice location right by the beach!!! Breakfast fell short. No waffles or pancakes served :( overall, it was a nice 2 day stay with the family. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the available washer /dryer on site.

Hotel was clean with a friendly staff. Right across the street from the ocean with a ramp to get down to the ocean. Breakfast was the only thing that I was disappointed with due to my own requirements with my diet. If not for that the breakfast would have been great. I would stay there again in the heartbeat

You must choose this hotel to get the beach and walking-into-town location . Why else would you stay at any other hotel? We had morning coffee on the beach right across from the hotel, and walked to lunch, dinner, antique shops, and after dinner clubs.

My husband & I come to Carlsbad to escape the Las Vegas heat and enjoy the ocean several times per year. We have stayed on several properties in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area. This BW Plus Beach View Lodge is in a FABULOUS LOCATION! The front desk staff enjoy working at this newly renovated facility. The Common Outdoor Gathering Area (2nd floor) is IDEAL for relaxing & watching the sunset. The option of eating breakfast (7-10 am) each morning while enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean is a favorite amenity. Covered parking. Elevators. We will DEFINITELY be coming back to BW Plus Beach View Lodge the next time we visit Carlsbad! Thank you!

We had a large group in seven rooms and had an amazing, relaxing Labor a day weekend! Everything from getting checked in to checking out was seamless. It's literally right across the street from the most beautiful beach. Beach access was easy with all the small children we had. The pool area was small with a few chairs, but always crystal clean. Staff was wonderful and I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

It was great to find a place right across the street from the beach. This lodge has a nice deck area at the front so you can sit and overlook the ocean. Parking spots are tight, so if you have a large vehicle it can be very tight. They offer a free continental breakfast, not great, but decent. They let guests check out for free beach items such as chairs, umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, and sand toys. That was a great benefit especially since we had flown into California and couldn't pack beach items. The room was clean. The restroom wasn't very spacious, but it did the job. Overall, I would recommend visiting this location.

Parking was disappointing. On the first night of our stay we had to park 2 blocks away. As I looked at the hotel across the street, were they full underground parking structure I was sad with my choice. Lots of kids playing in the pool all day and into the evening. Children slamming room doors

So my parents, who live in Ohio, first found this hotel on a short trip they took from our house in Riverside. Last time we came this hotel was booked, so this time I made sure we could get in. What a great location, you can walk to everything in downtown Carlsbad from here. They were super friendly at check in, we got a king bed with balcony and somewhat of an ocean view, but we haven't really been in our room. Spent the day directly across the street at the beach, great access. And the hotel,has towels, chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas anything you would need for beach so you don't have to pack it and bring it they have it. The room is updated, clean ,and has a nice balcony. Would stay again when we come back.

We enjoyed our get away and loved the location and proximity to wonderful eats in the area and shopping on State Street. The staff goes beyond to ensure the guests are happy. Room was big and had a nice patio but could have used a small table on the patio to put our drinks on.

When we arrived at the hotel was disappointed as it really didn't look like the pictures online. We checked in and was assigned a room and I can only describe the room as dark and depressing! We did everything we could do to not spend time in the room which was unfortunate. The room was included breakfast which having just come from an embassy suites we thought would include hot food. Everything that was offered came out of a plastic wrapper. For the price of the room we were very disappointed

I enjoyed my stay at this Best Western. The location is outstanding. You literally just need to cross the street and you are on the beach. The hotel offers beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, beach toys and boogie boards free of charge. Free Parking and Breakfast is an excellent bonus! My room was a bit dark but not a big issue as we were really only in it to sleep. It is within walking distance to many places to eat and shop. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. The rooms seemed spacious. The usual breakfast I've come to expect from Best Western has been temporarily suspended until they can upgrade their kitchen. Given that this privilege was revoked three days prior to our arrival I felt the hotel did a good job in providing a wide variety of prepackaged breakfast items. Beautiful views of the ocean from the breakfast area. I truly enjoyed my stay here. One more thing, and its just me but the gas fireplace with the low flame flicker kind of creeped me out. I would have liked to be able to turn off the fireplace completely but they said it was like a pilot light. Besides, who needs a fireplace in sunny California??

We stayed here from the 3rd-5th of July. The hotel staff was above and beyond accomodating to us. We had our 1 yr old granddaughter who desperately needed to get a nap in and so they made sure we were able to check in several hours early so that could happen. Additionally, the staff made sure that all 3 of our rooms were right next to each other. They were so friendly, welcoming and professional. Its been a while since we've had such a positive experience from a hotel and its staff from the start to the end. The location is the best in Carlsbad. Just minutes to restaurants, bars and shopping. The beach is right across the street and at the hotel you can relax on their porch and enjoy your morning coffee or watch the sunset in the evening. We've been coming to this hotel since we had our young sons and now one of our sons brought his daughter to enjoy. There will be many more stays at this hotel in the future.

We booked this forth of July getaway to enjoy the peacefulness of Carlsbad Village. We go every year and this was our first and last time staying at this hotel. Our room was never cleaned and fresh linen and towels were never brought up. My wife had to go to the desk and ask for clean towels. There was a family with kids staying there and they were extremely loud but hotel services never did anything about the noise.

This hotel has a "family owned" feel with 40 rooms. Caring and helpful staff with excellent accommodations. Location is perfect for beach goers, beach gazers, shoppers as well as fine eating and drinking. Enjoy!

The best part of the property was the food court facing the ocean. We ate breakfast and had drinks on the bridge contiguous to the lounge. The view was spectacular. The rooms were ordinary, but the location is very good.

We stay at the Beachview Lodge every year for at least a week in one of the suites and have now for about 7 years. Its perfect for our family of 4 and close to everything! Especially the beach & village downtown.

The Best Western Beach View Lodge is located directly across the street one of the most beautiful beaches in north San Diego. It is a very clean and comfortable hotel. The staff is just wonderful!! We came to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was just a perfect few days!!!

We recently enjoyed a great family reunion staying at the Best Western in Carlsbad, CA. Prudence and her staff went out of their way to get to know us and provide us with everything we needed for fun in the sun at the ocean just across the street. The beach was not crowded and we all had a great time.

We spent 6 nights here with other family and really enjoyed the location and the very nice staff. It's right across the street from the beach and you can walk within minutes of Carlsbad Village ships and restaurants. The breakfast has several choices and the catering staff was great. This is not a fancy hotel but you'd pay a lot more for a location like this at other chain hotels.

We had a great time at this hotel. It was very clean and the ladies running the front lobby were fantastic. They had great ideas of fun things to do and great places to eat. I will definitely stay here again.

Location was perfect - walking distance to Carlsbad village. Across the road from the beach with a great view from the lounge deck. The bed was super comfortable and the staff bent over backwards to help out (we got an early check in) - they were all very friendly and helpful. Been a long time visitor to this property. Overall, have loved it. But this year, several weeks after booking a weekend visit, we received news our 9-year-old grandson has a rare, aggressive cancer. In dealing with this, his parents needed us on weekends for the foreseeable future. So I called to cancel our reservations. We had made them online, with a no-cancelation rule. In calling the hotel, to explain our situation, I was told we can not cancel. It was against policy. Even though are (were) loyal, nearly annual visitors. They offered to hold our $1,000 room fee for later in the summer. But we will not be scheduling any summer trips until we know the fate of our grandson, so we were in essence losing the $1,000. So we arranged alternative help for our children that weekend and made our visit. To say the least, it was not an enjoyable one under the circumstances. We will return to Carlsbad every summer, like we always do. But we no longer will consider staying at this hotel, were policy trumps customer loyalty. What a shame -- for both the hotel and us.

It was great no complaints with anything! We have stayed there probably 4 times before and like the access to the beach & town. Enjoy the included breakfast overlooking the ocean. They hire the best help who are friendly and willing to help with questions.

Stayed only one night but already are planning to come back again. The location is unbeatable. Literally across the street from the ocean. And within a 5 minute walk of Carlsbad village with shops, restaurants, and bars. The supervisor, Prudence, was very welcoming and even gave me some tips on where I should go for my morning jog. The free breakfast in the morning was very good, especially when eating on the deck or inside with the ocean front view. We will definitely be back!

This hotel has a good location across the state beach. The room I stayed in (king bed on the 3rth floor) is clean and spacious. The partial ocean view is only from the balcony and it's obstructed by the street lights and electric power lines. The whole building is dated and looks like it needs some improvement to catch up with time. Watch your step when walking into the room because the floor is not even. Breakfast is below average. No scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage or bacon. Egg sandwich is soggy. So, it's OK to stay for a couple days but I would definitely look for a better place even if I would have to pay a little more.

The Manager is a hoot! So welcoming. Room was GREAT, only downside, no ocean view, but they have a full on Ocean View patio with tables and chairs to watch Sunset. Close to walk to EVERYTHING! Highly Recommend staying here. Reasonable price for the weekend.

I was told the room had a ocean view! We had to step out to the balcony and lean out to see the ocean! Not what I expected!You might want to change the wording "View"! Would not recommend this hotel! The grounds were clean but out dated! The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful!

Enjoyed our stay at this beach view lodge (from front deck) and from the inside breakfast room. Comfortable room in older motel without ocean view but fine since we were doing outside activities, except for sleeping.

The hotel is directly across the Carlsbad State Beach and from some balconies, you can get a glimpse of the ocean. The rooms are spacious and have the standard amenities. Mine, a King room, had a microwave and fridge which was very helpful. The best thing about it is the location. You can simply cross the street and walk across to the beach and enjoy the ocean. Great views of the ocean from the breakfast room and sun desk and a very friendly and helpful staff.

My girl friend and I spent one (1) night here while driving the coast. What a find! A reasonable price, very good amenities, and an exceptional location. The second story lounge and outdoor patio faces the beach - what a view! And all that Carlsbad Village has to offer is at your door step. Nice rooms, large, well equipped, quiet and clean.

Wow, great hotel. Directly across from the beach. Great for families because of the easy access. Small hotel feels very quaint. Rooms for very nice beds were heavenly. Side view of the ocean from the balcony. Parking was the best part. Covered and direct access to the hotel interior through a locked door. The staff was wonderful especially Prudence. She was such a delight, funny and so accommodating. She even let us stay in the parking lot after we checked out so we could enjoy the day at the beach. What a plus. Highly recommended but book early because it's tough to get a reservation!

The Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge is perfectly situated on the beach to allow quick access. The hotel is well furnished and is modern. The staff there care about the appearance and functionality of the hotel. Can't wait to visit again.

Nice location for going to visit lots of fun, beautiful places in the Carlsbad area! Highly recommend the Flower Fields as well as the Butterfly Farms. And of course some beach time. Joan at the Front Desk check-in was a lovely start to a quick visit to beautiful Carlsbad.

We checked out of a hotel earlier than expected and found this one. Everything about it was perfect. The room was a great size with comfortable beds for us all. The location was perfect, the pool and hot tub were lovely. The staff (especially Prudence) were friendly and great fun. The reception lent out body boards for the kids and beach chairs. Breakfast was simple but perfect! Well worth a visit. Carlsbad itself had plenty of restaurants and bars to go to. We ended up sat listening to live bands in one bar - brilliant night.

Super friendly staff, Prudence helping us with our luggage when my husband hurt his back and Seferino bringing his own vehicle around to jump start our dead battery. Rooms are large, well equipped and public deck overlooking ocean was a delight! Hearty breakfast, really a top quality stay, great value for money. Would always stay here in Carlsbad!

I could only recommend your staying at Beach View Lodge, the hotel is clean and tidy and Angelica and Prudence (Hotel managers) together with the staff embrace you in a warm atmosphere, the location by the sea is unbeatable with the breakfast deck with ocean view

This is an older property that is well-maintained. Vintage, not dated. The amenities are modest, but are commensurate with the lodging category. Staff is efficient and engaging. The Guest Lounge is a very nice touch, serving as a free-breakfast venue and a comfortable meeting place at other times throughout the day. The adjacent sun deck is perfect for taking in a sunset or two. Our room was very clean - and the guest room attendants were, well, attentive! A special thanks to Joan who ran the front desk during swing shift. She was helpful at every turn (even taking time to assist us before her shift began one day). The location along Carlsbad Blvd. seemed perfect for foot travel. Parking is a bit tight, but free parking is free parking. I was quite satisfied with the value I received. I cannot imagine how the experience could have been improved upon. It was an excellent four-day escape from the desert. I would certainly stay there again.

From the first minute we were in the office to the last day we were very happy with our time there. the staff was excellent, the Prudence the Head Lady was so nice and interested in pleasing u. THe breakfast was very good and the lady in charge was helpful and kept the room very clean. having a free paper was an extra bonus. the room was always cleaned up nice. very pleased with our stay. We stayed here with friends who come regularly to visit their son at the Army & Navy Academy. We had a warm welcome from the manager and the room was large and very comfortable with a fireplace for colder evenings. Breakfast was excellent. The location is brilliant, just yards from the beach and a short walk to Carlsbad Village.

Be careful to really look at the pictures touted on the hotel website. I thought for the price I paid I was getting something updated, plush and on (near) the beach. It advertised "ocean views" and found that it did if you hang over the balcony of your room. The breakfast was good and the rooms....just ordinary rooms. However the housekeeping staff leaves plenty of useful amenities every day in your bathroom.

My daughter recently moved to the area and I just lucked out picking out this particular hotel. All the staff at here are very professional, courteous, and helpful. Rooms were very clean and beds were very comfortable. I stayed 11 days, and each day offered a wide variety complimentary breakfast. I loved the location, and the view of the beach. I have already told three family members about this Best Western to stay here when coming to Carlsbad.

Well maintained older motel across the street from ocean and a really nice long boardwalk. Close to Carlsbad Village Drive, restaurants and shops. Comfortable clean rooms. Larger than most - the King Partial ocean view was 300+ sq feet. View was of Pine Street with ocean blocked by a tree so really the choice is between having a balcony or a fireplace. Best view is from the breakfast room & outdoor O.V. deck. Enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee & breakfast. Friendly staff. Covered parking is open air, narrow spots and unsecured.

Clean room, quite location, and we love being right across the street from the beach, we stay at this hotel often and have never been dissapointed. The staff is friendly and they have an excellent continental breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyed a fantastic weekend getaway here- cute and clean and nice amenities. Rented nice beach chairs (included with our stay) and walked across the street to relax on the sand. It doesn't get better than that. Very relaxed atmosphere and great customer service from start to finish.

loved the location,love the town and loved the staff!!!!! it has an incredible locationn, wonderful staff and great amenities. we stayed there 3 nights and couldve stayed longer. The room has everything you need including a fireplace. The continental breakfast was lovely and we couldve stayed longer.We will back next year for sure and will tell our friends.

Upon checkin, we were greeted very pleasantly by Angela, she made us feel very welcomed and comforted, after a long drive it was very nice. New all of the places to see and go. The room was very nice, I really enjoyed the living area and kitchen, it gave it a Nice Home Feel.

We met friends from Los Angeles here in early September and it was a wonderful stay from the beginning to the end. The location was amazing, right across from the beach and included covered parking! The rooms were wonderful and there was a great area to sit and enjoy the view outside. The complimentary breakfast was the best one we have ever experienced! We can't wait to go back!

We took a few days away and chose Carlsbad, . We encountered the best hotel manager ever (Prudence Pedrotti) who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. She even upgraded our room to a spacious suite since the hotel was not full. We look forward to returning ASAP

We reserved an ocean view room from Hotels.com. Our view was that of a construction zone and if you stuck your neck out on your balcony and turned right, you could see the ocean. That's not what we paid for. We paid for an ocean view room. We were very disappointed especially when the clerk suggested that it was Hotels.com's problem and not theirs. The hotel itself is clean and the bed was super comfortable.

Excellent service, great value! This is my second stay, and I would come back again. Very accommodating staff helped to make our vacation even more relaxing. I love the location, as it is in walking distance of museums, restaurants,and shopping.

The hotel had a very nice view. The people that checked us in were very accommodating.The location is right in the center of town. There is a lot of walking destinations in this area. The off seasons are a better time to visit this hotel.

Family friendly but also quiet. Front desk staff so nice and helpful. Location was perfect (across the street from beach). Had extra amenities such as beach umbrellas, beach towels. Free breakfast was good. Within walking distance to many restaurants, shops. Nice large deck was a great gathering place for our family to visit, enjoy the sunset etc.

Hotel is older, but well maintained, clean, in a GREAT location and has a friendly staff. We will be back. Bathroom is a bit small, and on Friday and Saturday nights, there is alot of noise from the street (cars and motorcycles). But we loved staying here.

The ocean view sun deck is wonderful. The morning was brisk, but beautiful. One could sit on the deck all day reading or just watching the ocean and the people on the beach, umbrellas provided shade. Sunsets in the evening were spectacular. The hotel is located right across the street from the beach. There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance.

Beach View is a wonderful place to stay, great location to the Beach and downtown. Breakfast was great, makes you feel like your at home. Will definitely stay again. The Office staff was wonderful and very helpful, can't say enough about this place. We hated to leave.

We love the Best Western Beach View Lodge in Carlsbad! Not only is it the very best location, it's a beautiful property. The staff is always very helpful, even if that means calling a locksmith during the dinner hour on a Sunday evening. Yes, this happened to us. My granddaughter locked our safe with our wallets & jewelry inside. Within 30 minutes a locksmith arrived & was able to open our safe & we made it to our dinner reservations on time! The staff is always eager to assist with any request! I would not think about ever staying anywhere else!

Pros: This hotel is in a great location! The beach is just across the street. The village full of shops & restaurants is within a short walking distance so you don't need to drive your car & lose your parking space at the hotel. Parking is free! Nice staff. Cons: Although the hotel has been renovated a year or so ago, some of the work was kind of shoddy. There was a big hole in the wall under our bathroom sink. The sofa bed was extremely squeaky & appeared dirty. The suite felt dark & dirty & not comfy at all. We stayed in a family suite with a partial ocean view but i feel like the extremely high cost we paid for 2 nights was not worth it. Very disappointed!

If you're looking for an affordable beach location, this is it. The rooms don't overlook the ocean directly but it can be viewed from some of the balconies. Realistically, you want to walk on the beach or view it from the oceanside walk anyway. The hotel is directly across from the beach and the 2nd floor patio area allows you to sit and watch the ocean, sunsets and/or passers-by very comfortably. Clean, comfortable and friendly staff.

Pros: great location, just across the street from an excellent beach. Good selection at breakfast. Very good service. Cons: not kid friendly, especially if you have a toddler in a stroller. Stairs to climb everywhere. Only one small elevator at the rear of the hotel. Limited parking and the spaces were very small. Refrigerator in the room not on at check in and didn't get cold until the next day.

I can't say enough nice things about this property. It is always clean, quiet, restful and delightful. The girl in charge of breakfast even brought me a breakfast sandwich, outside on the terrace, when more became available. It is walking distance to 2 favorite restaurants. ..Las Olas and Gaia Gelato. Thanks again for a lovely night. :-)

Great location and nice, clean hotel. The breakfast lounge was a pleasant surprise and we really appreciated the ability to rent free beach chairs, umbrellas, towels and boogie boards at the front desk to take across the street to the beach. Easy access to Legoland. Would definitely stay here again.

If you are a family I absolutely recommend it. Great little pool and right across from the beach. It was perfect. The people there are the best, so friendly and helpful! They allow you to check out beach gear (umbrella, chairs, kids toys). Only thing, I wished there was a convenience store with basics. We ran out of water the last day and had to go around the corner to 7-Eleven, not a biggie. Not a lot to complain about, for sure!!!!

We picked this hotel because of its proximity to the beach (literally right across the street). Everything was awesome - location, service, accommodations. The staff was friendly and the rooms clean. Breakfast had a great selection and variety of foods. Highly recommend this hotel!

I must give acknowledgement to Prudence at the front desk. She was friendly, courteous, and sensitive to our every need. She recognized our Anniversary and made dinner reservations for us. Our stay was great, weather was perfect. Kudos to Beach View Lodge!

We are so happy we decided to stay at this Hotel. We were visiting Legoland but wanted to wake up at the beach. Perfect location and the friendliest staff. We were arriving late and had called before to let them know. They said they had staff available 24 hours. We arrived without trouble were quickly given our room and told where to park. The parking as great with door access directly from parking to inside courtyard area, so we didn't have to walk all the way around to the front of the building. We had a king room that worked well for our family. The room was so nice, clean, comfortable and spacious. We had a room facing the road and a view of the ocean. The bed was so comfortable. We enjoyed some Tazo tea in our room as our son had caught a cold and wanted something warm to drink. I even went to the front desk to ask for more tea. They let me go to the breakfast room to get more tea and cups. Breakfast is excellent. Good coffee and great choices. I liked the fresh strawberries and blueberries. My boys enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches. The view from the breakfast room is amazing. We didn't stay long as we wanted to get down to the beach. Just across the street. We only stayed one night but we do hope that we get the opportunity to visit this area again and stay at this fabulous hotel. Highly recommend this hotel!!

This hotel is literally right across the street from the Ocean. Military friendly with reduced rates and the grounds and rooms are immaculate. The breakfast gets 5 stars for variety, freshness, and location overlooking the Ocean. We stayed 5 nights and did not want to leave. Pack your bags, leave your troubles behind and come relax in paradise with this Best Western!

I would like to see Hard boiled eggs at breakfast and Kleenex in the rooms. My nose tends to run when I'm at the beach and I had to us toliet paper to blow my nose. I liked the coziness of the smaller facility.

Fantastic as always. The staff is the best and the location is second to none. Nice clean rooms with great beds! You can walk to the village or right across to the beach and the walk along the boardwalk is always my personal favorite.

Could not have asked for a better location. Across the street from the beach. We watched dolphins swim by heading South while having breakfast on the sun porch. Professional staff who all kept the hotel running smoothly. Highly recommend for your stay in Carlsbad!

This Best Western hotel is right across the street from a great public beach in Carlsbad. It also has a really nice deck with chairs and tables where you can sit and eat breakfast while looking out at the ocean and beach. Service was great and you can check out beach chairs, umbrellas, kids beach toys, towels, body boards, etc for free. Beach lovers dream. They do have a laundry room where you need $2 in quarters for the washer and $1.50 for the dryer, but don't open the door on the dryer unless you think the clothes are dry. The room was pretty good with sufficient room and a decent bathroom. Free parking with tight spaces. The room was clean and housekeeping was very good. My family will stay at this location each time we visit San Diego County.

This place is truly a hidden gem in the SD Area - our 2nd time staying here and would absolutely go again. The king room is spacious & the beds are extremely comfortable- our room had a fireplace, fridge, microwave & small safe too. The view from the deck is wondrerful & new tables make it very easy to enjoy AM to sundown. They have beach chairs,umbrellas & boogie boards availble for check out this year- Very nice touch! Breakfast is clean & good coffee available all day- small observation>could use more protein (scrambled eggs?) but over all- LOVED our entire stay!!

Walk across the street and your on the beach. A few minutes walk into the village for shopping and dining. Great location for beach lovers ! We love the location to spend the day on the beach then walk into town for dinner and shopping. Carlsbad is a very charming little town.

We stayed for a baseball tournament for 8 days at the Carlsbad Best Western. Service was great. Good breakfast, coffee. The location is the best part. Right across from the beach and the hotel had chairs, boogie boards and umbrellas available. The boardwalk was literally across the street. P Prudence, the manager was especially nice and helpful.

It was beautifull view of ocean / beach and staff was very polite. Very clean rooms . Walking distance to beach. Close to downtown carlsbad . You can easily stroll down in evening for dinner. Breakfast is good. Try staying on second or third floor.

Staff is great very friendly from front desk to the maintenance staff! Have Tommy Bahama beach chairs & towels to take to the beach which is great! Great breakfast every morning especially if have kids. Rooms are clean just a little small as well as beds if sharing with family of 4. We made it work with 2 Adults, 3 kids but tight.

My husband, two-year-old son, and I stayed for three nights. Every employee we crossed paths with was very friendly, and Prudence at the front desk was helpful, cheerful, and very friendly. The hotel is in the perfect location for accessing the beach or walking into Carlsbad Village for coffee, food, or shopping. In fact, there are great food and ice cream locations within an extremely short walk, and the beach access is literally across the road. The terrace is perfect for hanging out, viewing the ocean, and people watching. The continental breakfast is more than adequate--pastries, fresh fruit, muffins, yogurt, cereal, pancakes, hot sandwiches, juice, coffee, hot chocolate. The rooms were very clean--we even moved an armchair to set up our pack n play, and the ground beneath it was clean. I was impressed. And there were always staff members out in the hallways cleaning. The beds were comfortable, and it was pretty quiet. I slept better here than I have at a lot of other places! We would stay here again.

We are a family of six, we love the beach and we also love being near Carlsbad Village. This spot is the best for both enjoyments. You are literally right across the beach, they offer a wonderful breakfast every morning and you are able to eat while watching the ocean waves. The hospitality is great, they even have beach gear for guest to take to the beach. I would definitely come again.

I've stayed here the last 4 years when visiting Carlsbad CA. Highly recommend, Excellent in every way. Location cant be beat. Close to restaurants, shopping, and sight seeing. Motel service is excellent. Room clean. I have no complaints at all.

Awesome location if going to the beach as it is directly across the street. We have been to nearly every major beach in southern California and the Carlsbad beaches are honestly among the nicest. Very clean, great waves and sand, and not too crowded. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were even able to use the hotel's boogie boards at no cost which was super cool. Breakfast is pretty good, but don't expect too much. Other Best Westerns we have stayed at have had a little more selection, but there was still enough to get your fill. They also were able to accommodate gluten allergies which was very much appreciated. The hotel is also a little older than a lot of other Best Westerns we have stayed at, but still has that Best Western look and feel of cleanliness and class. The hotel is also great walking distance to Carlsbad Village. We have 2 little girls and the walk was probably less than 15 minutes. Would definitely stay again.

Love the location. Staff is friendly and helpful.Bathroom is quite small. Door can barely make it past the toilet. They should put in a pocket door instead. Nice variety of breakfast items including healthy choices. This is the second time we've stayed here and hope to make it here at least once a year during the summer months but pricey for my budget on my fixed income. I have to save all year!

We checked in on Saturday at approx. 6 pm. The front of the hotel was nice. Of course, it is the front. The front had a nice view of the Ocean and beach. Right across the street. My room was on the front side of the building, looking south. The view, which I was told was a beach view, was not exactly true. Open the curtains and you saw the building next door. I had to go out on the balcony and look right (west) to see the water. Not really a beach front view. But, that was the selling point for me. So, for $300 per night on the two rooms, we have Free Bernie guests in our room. Both room had free loaders, ants, and I told the front desk clerk the next morning. Hopefully she got the exterminator in there before the next people came in. Overall, it was a nice stay. I do not think they should say you get a view of the beach unless you can see the beach from your room without going outside. But, that is my opinion. It is way better than the Best Western we stayed at Friday at Disneyland.

Prudence was welcoming and very pleasant during the check in service and making sure we were warmly welcomed. She is an excellent representative for quality customer service. The one struggle that I had with thee hotel is that I had an broken ankle and was on crutches. While there is ADA parking and a manner to get to the elevator you cannot get to the breakfast room or the patio lounge area unless you negotiate stairs. So it is not wheelchair accessible or very crutch friendly. I was quite surprised being a Best Western. The bathroom was exceptionally small so I had to take a sink shower that was a good level for cleaning up. The room was clean the breakfast after I hoped down 7 steps was continental but adequate. When we parked in the handicap parking it was so close to other cars there was no way to get a wheelchair between the cars to get to the elevator. Very close quarters. I was surprised while the room was clean and small the porch partial view of the ocean was not great. It was not a patio that I would want to sit, read or have a glass of wine to enjoy the ocean view. Yes its a partial view but not spectacular. The location is good near all that you need for the Carlsbad experience.

What can I say the Best Western Beach view lodge is an awesome place if you want to be close to the beach and to the local restaurants. They offer a great breakfast in the morning and they also have all the beach necessities to sit in relax by the beach. (Chairs beach umbrellas boogie boards). What more can you ask for.

The hotel is very clean. Breakfast is wonderful. Free parking was a plus to us. We were right across the street from the beach. Everything is within walking distance. Very helpful and courteous staff who went out of their way to assist us. It was a perfect vacation/family gathering place for us.

This hotel is very nicely maintained for an older property. The location across the street from the water is great. The hotel staff, especially the young woman overseeing the breakfast, were all very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

Great hotel and the staff was probably the best part! The provided great customer service which is rare. Loved that it's right across from the beach and can walk to restaurants and shopping in downtown Carlsbad. Had a suite which was very nice and roomy along with the pool, hot tub and great breakfasts provided. Things to consider though is the limited garage parking as you may need to park in the surrounding residential area. Had no problem but prefer the better security with a garage. Also had significant issues with the cable TV service and was very frustrating resetting the adapter over and over to get reception. The staff did attempt to resolve and provided a minimal daily credit but would check to ensure the wiring issues have been corrected when you're paying that much for a room.

The hotel is located right across the street from the beach entrance. It is within walking distance of Carlsbad Village. So many restaurants, shops, and other stores are in easy walking distance. The hotel rooms feel modernized. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel staff, Prudence, was very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers beach chairs, beach towels, and even sunscreen, to guests! The sun deck on the second level looking towards the ocean is very leisurely. Lounge chairs, regular chairs and tables with a covering are available on the deck. A continental breakfast is available. A small pool and hot tub are available to guests. We enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at this Best Western Plus over the 4th of July for two nights. Angela, the General Manager greeted us warmly and gave us some recommendations for places to dine in town. Every one of the staff members we met were very professional, helpful and friendly. Our room was on the third floor and we had a balcony with a direct view across the street to a construction project and a side view to the ocean. Since it was a holiday weekend there was no construction noise or interference. Our room was large, clean and well maintained. The large sun deck was perfect for sitting and watching the ocean, the passers-by, people flying kites and enjoying a drink or snack. The guest lounge where the continental breakfast was served was large and comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful and included a daily newspaper as well. Later in the afternoon you could also get fruit and coffee/tea from the lounge. There are covered parking spots for hotel guests. The location is perfect for beach walks and to local restaurants and shops. The only reason this property doesn't get a 5 is that the property could use a little updating including the hall carpets, bathroom, etc.

This is our 3rd time staying at this hotel and it is our favorite. Easy beach access, nice breakfast and pool, family suite is roomy. Staff is amazing at resolving any issues and are VERY kind! Feels like staying with family

The price was what I considered as a'value'. Room was very clean and we'll kept up for the age of the hotel. The location is absolutely the best. |you are within walking distance of downtown carlsbad and you are right next to the beach. Parking was a challenge if you got to your room late. The provided a very nice breakfast.

I would recommend this Hotel to others! Loved that We were right across from the Beach! I loved that We were within walking distance most All of Our trip! Great Continental Breakfast, great lounge to watch the Ocean and the People!

The only negative was, we were to have a room overlooking the pool, instead we were looking at a housekeeping room. Everything else was perfect. The breakfast was great, the sun deck was perfect for the late afternoon viewing of the ocean and sunset. The King Room was large and the maid service was perfect. The room was expensive, we stayed for a week, would have loved to stay longer! We will return, but hopefully, we will be looking at the pool next time.

We stayed here for 3 nights, actually it was 2 1/2. We got here about 2 am our first night. The place is very clean and the service is out of this world. The manager and I can't remember her name is not only beautiful but a very kind and will do anything she can to help you out. We're right across the street from the beach. The view for breakfast is beautiful and you're within walking distance from the shops.

I stayed here as a child. Decided to take my girls on a vacation to where I went as a little girl. Obviously it's been updated since the 80s, but it was like I had never left . Clean, friendly, walking distance to great shops, food & everything one needs.....The Beach! No need to get in the car until you don't want to leave. My girls said lets come back here next year! Definitely!

This was our first stay and the service was amazing! We felt so welcome and everyone was so helpful and friendly. The location is perfect. We had young children and they were so accepted. Definitely returning!

Room was very comfy and pretty big. The best part is the view, sitting in the balcony and enjoying the beach view. Reasonably price for the location, right across from the beach and within short distance from Carlsbad Village. Breakfast was ok, but overall experience was great. Would stay here again.

The room was very clean, and looked brand new. The staff, especially Prudence, was able to provide above and beyond service with getting us a balcony view two consecutive nights .great all around and thanks again

We loved our stay! We received the best and friendliest service. It was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. Our kids enjoyed the pool and breakfast overlooking the beach. We will definitely be back!

This Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge keeps it simple but has a great location and comfortable amenities. I enjoyed my time here. The breakfast selection is great and it is within walking distance to the hustle and bustle of town. Has a great view of the ocean and walking distance to the beach. Stay here if you want to keep things simple and comfortable.

The location of this hotel makes it ideal if you want to spend time on the beach and walk the village. Room was in clean order and I had no problems except for the family who decided to take their kids into the hot tub when it was already at maximum stated capacity of six people. Would be nice if the pool and spa were open later on weekends. I was not able to get into the spa. I chose this hotel over another similar priced one so that I could and was disappointed that it was always at capacity + kids

should have a back up plan, when elevator brakes. Elderly couple placed on 3rd floor, had to go down 3 flights of stairs to get to the car, and 2 flights to go eat breakfast Also breakfast was poor choices, for those following a high protein diet.. Bathroom shower curtain had mold on it, they should be washable and changed with each room change.

It's a nice hotel, great location, with a good view from hotel deck. I recommend to get a room with balcony so you can have view to the beach. Breakfast is ok to get you going, just cereal and some pastries.

The hotel is location, location and location with great amenities and friendly staff. I recommend this hotel highly. The reservation agent Prudence was wonderful as well as the front desk staff, evening manager and housekeeping. All terrific!

Any place on the beach is going to be expensive. This property was not fancy but certainly "just fine," considering the other options. The breakfast was of a higher quality than most free hotel continental breakfasts I've had. One negative: when we arrived at 10 p.m., there was no parking available! The front desk clerk moved her car for us to be able to park on the street. Whaaat? That seems kind of crazy to me that a late arriving guest would not have parking reserved on the property.

The hotel is right across the street from Carlsbad State Beach making it easy for families to pack up their sandy toys for the afternoon and cross the street to the beach! We were also able to walk to dinner each night and walk to get coffee in the morning! Our kids loved playing in the pool! There were several families with children there too. We also enjoyed a picnic lunch on the deck area over looking the ocean...beautiful! The hotel offers a great breakfast (included with stay) that included pancakes, bagels, Danishes, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, and flavored coffee creamer! The hotel also offers guests off street parking (free of charge), which is great by the beach! We will definitely be back again for another long weekend stay!!

This is the perfect location and has an amazing view of the ocean. The property is clean and the rooms are newly renovated. I even work at Best Western International Headquarters and I was very impressed with this hotel. I definitely will be back!

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel across the road from the beach in Carlsbad California. The rooms are clean, the beds are great and their buffet breakfast is very nice. The breakfast room is facing the beach so it is a nice way to start the day. There is a nice pool, jacuzzi, and a deck with lounges facing the beach. You can enjoy the sun without the sand! The hotel is in walking distance the all the restaurants and night life in this lovely beach community. Give it a try.

The staff is great, the hotel is great. If you are looking for a place to stay that feels like you are in a small beach town, don't look any further. In addition, the best breakfast around!!! Look no further then the BW Beach View Lodge!!!

I was so pleased with my stay here. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were so friendly. They bent over backwards to accommodate me and make sure I was happy with my stay. The best part is the location. It's literally steps from the beach and a short walk to the heart of Carlsbad Village. I will definitely stay here again.

Love the ability to work in the breakfast room overlooking the ocean. It's kept open all day and makes me feel at home with a beautiful friendly workspace. Love traveling here on business. It's a personal favority.

My feet were completely black from walking on the floors in the hotel room barefoot. I checked the others in the family and they were the same. It was disgusting. They need to shampoo their carpets. We put towels on the floor to walk on after the first day.

Reserved a room with a view of the beach. You could see the beach if you walked out into the balcony which really had a view of a driveway/alley and cranked your head so you could just barely see the beach. Very misleading in the description of the room. Room was musty, very small & outdated. Bathroom was tiny & the sink was outside of the bathroom in the hallway as if it was an after thought.

Everyone was so friendly. The breakfasts were very tasty. They are right across the road from the beach. Our bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. Parking was included and so easy! The only down side would be that one day, we returned to our room, and at 4 p.m. it still had not been cleaned. This delayed our dinner plans a bit. We used the hot tub several times--very nice. Another family said the pool was nicely heated as well.

This hotel was great, from check in to check out! The lady behind the desk was so helpful and friendly. It is right across the beach and a quick walk. I loved the sun deck that I could relax on the chairs and look at the beach. The breakfast was great as well. I will definitely be coming back here!

Nice room, good side view of the ocean. Breakfast was good. Had a cool pancake maker. Better than making your own waffles and making a mess or burning them. Very clean eating area. Beds were comfy. The shower room is a bit snug since the sink is not connected in the same area. Not bad, I would stay there again. Maybe next time I am visiting my sister in O'side.

Hotel was right across from the beach. Really nice to wake up to the ocean view and walk down to the beach for some sand play time. Room was nice, clean. Balcony was pretty cool even if it wasn't at the front of the hotel. Side view is not bad. Parking was a big scary. Bit tight to fit in a truck. Good breakfast, loved the pancake maker. Kinda of missed the eggs and bacon or sausage options but they had that in the sandwich so I guess it was kinda the same thing.

This hotel is close to everything and across the street from the ocean. The service given and provided makes it that much better. The continental breakfast, breakfast room, pool and spa gave creature comforts that all could enjoy.

Clean and comfortable room with friendly staff. Good breakfast. in a nice dining room with beach view. However we should have been informed that there was a construction site just across the street from our room. "Not" a relaxing vacation on the beach!

Ideal location...beautiful view across the way to the ocean. Close to downtown and restaurants. Clean room, great beds. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. I loved the fact that you could sit in comfortable chairs and watch the water. One complaint which we shared with the desk people. There is a step up into the room. There is no marking for this or warning anywhere. Most places are just walk into the room. When your arms are full, as mine were, you can trip...which I did and face planted onto the floor. My knee is still sore from the impact. Please be careful. Otherwise I would have given this the highest rating.

The location could not be better--directly across the street from State Park Beach and a short walk to shops and restaurants in the village. Deck on 2nd floor of hotel gives perfect view of ocean and beautiful sunsets. Balcony rooms do not have much view of ocean, but not really necessary since you're so close. All staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Rooms and all common areas of the property were immaculate. The hotel is older but VERY well maintained.

Perfect location across the street from the beautiful beach. Tons of restaurants and neat shops just a block or two away. Very nice people working here. Not a high end place but great for a relaxing stay. Not a resort, but a comfortable hotel. Nice continental breakfast and beautiful room to sit and eat and watch the ocean. Nice pool and hot tub. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Fish restaurant across the street has great fish tacos. Three stories but there is an elevator. Carlsbad is a nice town and happy that we stayed there instead of Oceanside. People are super friendly. I sat and watched the surfers from the deck of the hotel. Don't pay more when you don't need too unless you are expecting resort amenities.

Great place to stay!!!! Best breakfast of any Best Western I have stayed in! Great location! Have been staying here for years... Like the beach town feel of this hotel, as well as the fact that it is walking distance to the beach and down town Carlsbad!

I stayed here for 2 weeks while on business. The staff couldn't do enough to help and Prudence, the manager, was an absolute star and even arranged for someone to do my laundry for me while I was at work. Views out over the beach. a nice stroll into the village with restaurants and shops. Would highly recommend this hotel both for business and pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful balcony to sit on for watching the sun sets over the sea. Breakfast plentiful and all you can need. As a woman travelling alone I felt so comfortable and safe firstly in the hotel but also in the area, I was walking out at night and didn't feel unsafe at all.Would love to return for pleasure one day. If you want to chill out and relax then this is the place.

I thought this location was a very peaceful quiet place to stay. I was in town for a conference at a large resort and decided to stay off property so I could be near the beach. Best decision I made. My only complaint about the rooms is the bathrooms. They are very small. Just enough room for toilet and tub.

Although this is an older property, the location is great. You can walk to most everything. Large, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Great deck for watching whales and sunsets. We loved Carlsbad and this Best Western.

Great place to relax, take a walk on the beach and go out to eat. The people at the desk were very pleasant and helpful. The room was also very comfortable. We had never been to Carlsbad before and were pleasantly surprised at what a nice town it is. The restaurants very near the motel have exceptionally good food.

Hard to beat this location! It is directly across the street from the beach. Even if you don't have a room with a balcony to take a peek from a side view of the beach simply walk a few feet to their deck or breakfast room, and wha-la! You can see the waves and enjoy a magnificent sunset! You really can't put a price on that. Every hotel staff person I dealt with from the front desk to the housekeeping person who brought me toothpaste had a smile on their face and were extremely helpful. The only downside for me was there were only hot pancakes you could make and no other hot dish was available. There is however, The Daily News Cafe just one block up the street serves great breakfast and lunch food. This Best Western Plus was quite a surprise for me. It's almost a hidden gem, but located right across from the beautiful Carlsbad Beach and a very short walk to the town area! It's worth the price! Their pool is small, but heated. The jacuzzi is VERY small, but they have one.

Stayed two nights with a friend, in town to visit the Village Faire. Great location, easy walking distance to beach (across street), Carlsbad Village and lots of restaurants. Nice little breakfast buffet with a great view of the ocean. Well maintained property and very clean, and LOVE the free covered parking! Only thing weird is the strange bathroom space, which desperately needs updating and better light (it WAS clean, however.) Beds were good. The staff was exceptionally friendly, from the front desk to the housekeepers.

Over and above their Best Westernly duties! Early check-in, late check-out, free breakfast, nice view, held onto our bags after we checked-out. These guys are the real-deal. Also, yeah, that's the Pacific Ocean across the street.

This was the first time we stayed at the Best Western in Carlsbad. The room was spacious and very neat and clean. Great location and view. The staff was happy, helpfull and willing to make our stay the best.

This is a great place to stay. Close to the beach and shopping. Plenty to do without even leaving. Staff is awesome. Only thing that I found wrong with this place is there is limited parking for the guests and is not very truck friendly.

We stayed here three nights. Walked everywhere restaurants,shopping and the beach. Breakfest in the morning quite generous and served until 10am. Staff always happy to hand out a water bottle after we ran on the beach. Nothing fancy but meet all our needs. If you want to lay by a pool this is NOT the hotel for you. The beach is across the street and the sun deck has great lounge chairs. Great staff!

I was pleasantly surprised! The size of the room was good, it was clean, the bathroom was large, and the breakfast was really great. I loved the patio with the lounge chairs and a beautiful ocean view! This hotel is totally worth the price and just a short walk across the street to the beach. It's super close to all the restaurants and shops as well.

Excellent location to the village and beach. easy check in and out, staff very friendly and helpful. Room very clean and updated. we have been her several times and during the pas few years thing have really been updated and maintained.

Location was close to the beach, in a great location. Parking was a little tight, but easy to access. The rooms were average, but clean and comfortable for me. Breakfast was nice, and the setting was perfect to enjoy your coffee. However, the reason I will return here for my next visit is the incredibly friendly staff. From check-in to breakfast to check-out, the staff bent over backwards to ensure we enjoyed our stay. They made great meal recommendations and welcomed us like family.

Nice hotel what you would expect from BW. Lovely view from the deck and good quality continental breakfast included which is a bonus. We did have one noisy night but overall quiet location. Small village with basic amenities and friendly locals, very dog friendly.

What a great experience! Prudence at the front desk went out of her way to take good care of us! We had an early check in and late check out to accommodate crazy flights... The room was amazing! Loved the view and the fireplace! Will definitely be coming back!

Couldn't believe I found such a well preserved beach front hotel in the heart of Carlsbad that was both affordable and had wonderfully caring staff. I work in the hotel industry have high expectations. All of my expectations were met and surpassed!

This place is perfect. Right on the ocean, walking distant to center of town where the mall and restaurants are. Free breakfast, free internet, refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. The staff is very nice to deal with. Free parking also.

My third time staying at this hotel - so that says a lot. i will look to stay there next time in Carlsbad. The staff are very friendly and helpful. location is excellent combining business during day and quiet entertainment around Carslbad in the evening; Norte and micro breweries worth a visit.

Great stay at this property! this hotel is right across from the beach, just a couple of minutes to walk down the boardwalk. The front desk had beach chairs and towels available for no extra cost, which was a bonus! Rooms were overall good size with comfortable beds, small-ish bathrooms and some rooms have wonderful partial ocean views! Continental breakfast was basic, but good and fresh with pastries, muffins, pancakes and a small fruit selection. We had a wonderful stay at this Best Western property. We'd stay there again if in the area!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel had a very nice continental breakfast and a friendly staff. Housekeeping did a great job every morning. There was an amazing sunset view every evening. I would recommend staying here.

Carlsbad is one of our all-time favorite getaway spots, but we all know beach hotels are pricier than the rest. As a result, we've always chosen to stay further away from the beach to save some money. I have always noticed this facility because of its close proximity to the beach and our favorite fish restaurant and people-watching spot. We're so glad we decided to pay a bit more and stay here! The staff sincerely took an interest and cared for us more than most. You would've thought Prudence was welcoming us into her home. She went out of her way in little ways that meant a lot. She found the coffee creamers we love, got some beach chairs and towels for us to use and was warm and welcoming on several occasions. It's not often you leave a hotel, feeling like you've made a friend you can call in the future! The room was clean and airy and the breakfast was nice, with healthy choices and the breakfast room had the most incredible elevated and panoramic view of the Pacific! The pool and hot tub were fine and like I said, the location COULD NOT BE BETTER! This is definitely the place to stay on our subsequent visits!

We would come back in a heart beat. We booked a suite with kitchen and a separate bedroom and, though expensive, was worth having the extra living space. Walking to the beach, shops and to good restaurants was easy

Our accommodations were very nice. The beds were so comfortable with a choice of pillows. The staff could not have been more helpful and fun. We had family who lived close by and are are in wheel chairs so it wasn't very accessible for them but we made it work. They just came to visit not stay. Otherwise, our staff was perfect. Thank you for a very nice time.

We stayed in a 2-room suite for a night during a trip to Legoland. The hotel is very close to the shore and the room had a nice view from the living room, though it lacked a balcony which is something that most other rooms have. We didn't take advantage of the pool or hot tub, but the folks that were using it seemed to be enjoying it. The continental breakfast satisfied everyone. The staff were friendly and courteous. I want to give a special thumbs up for Joan. We left a stuffed animal prize behind when we left the hotel, and by the time we noticed it was gone, the room had been occupied by the next set of guests. Joan at the front desk looked around to see if it had been brought in, but didn't find it either. Several days later, I received a phone call from a strange, exotic 760 area code. It was Joan calling to tell me that they had found the toy. She had remembered talking to me about it and took charge of contacting me to arrange to have it shipped. We really appreciate her efforts.

Let me some it up and say that this hotel is very conveniently located right across the beach and walking distance to gift shops/restaurants. The staff was super nice and friendly which was a big plus. Irene who serves breakfast every morning always had a big smile and was very welcoming. I will be staying in this hotel on my next visit to Carlsbad.

Hotel is older but in a great location. It is right across the street from the beach and walking distance from downtown. Breakfast area and deck overlooking ocean very nice. Legoland about 10 minutes away. Pool looked clean - spa was foamy, covered with dirt.

This is a beautiful Best Western. It's has great views, nice rooms, extremely close to the water, very nice breakfast and beautiful landscaping. The hotel is near so much. It's an easy walk to everything. I can't wait to come back and stay here again.

Our family traveled to Carlsbad to attend a wedding and wanted a convenient location. This Best Western is across the street from the ocean and large public waterfront park with sidewalks and a paved path on the beach. Downtown is only a few blocks away and easily walkable. The hotel includes a hot breakfast. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Unfortunately the weather was rainy during our stay so we didn't use the small pool or hot tub, located in the center of the property. We felt this property was a good value for the price.
