« One night stay on an organised coach trip »

Stayed for one night as part of an organised coach tour. Check in was was dealt with efficiently. Room was light and airy with plenty of drawers and wardrobe space. Bathroom was OK bed very comfy. Bar staff very friendly with good service. Breakfast was very good - plenty of choice buffet style - help yourself. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we are in the area again

« Adequate for one night »

This is an old building and the bedroom (130) despite looking fresh and clean had a strange smell, the bathroom was small and the shower and particularly the shower screen had black mould. The sound insualtion was poor both between rooms and from the outside. Being on the first floor the noise from the creaking floor above was loud. Staff friendly and helpful. Food OK.

    « Good nights sleep »

Nice hotel for business use. Breakfast good quality. Internet connection can be slow Shower either boiling or freezing (good job I like a hot shower) Bed very comfy, hotel also clean, staff great. Using again for business use

    « Great break »

Stayed here for 3 nights very friendly lovely clean rooms and nicely decorated ideal for the area for visiting our families very friendly staff a bar and good food enjoyed our stay here and would use again

    « Last minute »

Visiting family in stafford last minite and the husband booked this hotel. We booked it for 2 adults and 1 child. Although there was no travel cot mentioned or one in the room. There was not much in asking by the time we had got there but would of been nice considering we had 1 young child that the receptionist could clearly see. Room was very clean, neat and great decor. Had wifi, tv and the normal facilities expected! Thought we had breakfast included in the price as the receptionist mentioned it on check on to find we didnt. We were not happy to £15 each for a little breakfast we would of eaten so went else where. We also had a wake up call that we didnt request from the next room as they had their tv on fublast from 7 o'clock in the morning. Again no point mentioning as were leaving shortly and the person may have been more problematic. Best price we found in the area for last-minute

    « Good value »

Good value, tidy/clean rooms, would stay again. Local area not of interest at all but hotel worth it if passing through. Staff all very friendly and adequate on site parking. Booked through

    « Weekend away »

Excellent value for money 40 minutes from Nec Birmingham. Breakfast is fabulous bacon eggs sausage mushrooms beans has browns etc. Bedroom very comfortable. We had a huge extremely comfortable queen size bed. With a spare bed and seating area. Staff very helpful.

    « Our wedding venue 01.10.2016 »

We held our complete wedding at Barons Court, The Service, Wedding breakfast and Reception on the evening, with a number of quests stopping in the hotel on the night, the staff nothing but helpful throughout our stay. The service room very bright and airy. The Jerome Suite was ideal for the number of guests invited for the wedding breakfast with plenty of room to move around, the meal and service excellent, with additional tables added for the evening still leaving masses of room for the dance floor and buffet, again the variety of food served, cold and hot was excellent. To top it off as part of the package we stayed in the bridal sweet, which had perfect facilities for a newly wedded couple, 4 poster super king size bed, the room being very clean and fresh. A massive Thank You to Sammi who dealt with the organization of our special day, who also took time out on her day off to attend to make sure things went smoothly, also we must Thank Siara for all the help during the day especially during the evening when helping out when the DJ was having a few technical issues. Thanks to all the staff at Barons Court for helping to make our wedding day so special. The new Mr & Mrs Thay

« Best weston Barrons court hotel »

Beautiful room very friendly staff loved the fact there was ladies parking only in a very little up position near the entrance had a meal in the attached restaurant value for money excellent food would definitely go again highly recommend it well done Barrons court

    « customer care »

During my stay at this Hotel I was subject to an appalling series of lack of customer care, outside appearance was scruffy, interior decor was very shabby with mis match repairs, grubby and unclean decor, dirty tables. Bedrooms were dark and dingy with an not very clean bathroom with a shower that did not work Breakfast was dreadful and totally inedible, coffee freezing cold, sausage spoor quality and uncooked. I left this hotel exhausted hungry with the need of a shower will never stay in a great western hotel again.

    « Pleasantly Suprised »

Great place to stay while attending an event in Birmingham, accommodation is always price driven and this was really good value for money. Easy to find, great staff at check in and out. Breakfast was above average with a great choice of both hot and cold menu items. Rooms adequate size and very clean. Would highly recommend.

    « A Handy Hotel! »

Had a water leak at my house, which meant that I had to quickly sort out a hotel room for the night - went online and found the Barons Court Hotel which had vacancies that night - booked on line and immediately set off. Got to Reception about 20 minutes later and my reservation had been confirmed and the check in was very quick and easy. It is an old building, but the room I had was enormous - almost a suite! It was clean, everything worked as it should and although there is a main road outside, I couldn't hear any road noise. I booked an early morning call, but didn't hear the phone ringing - I mentioned this when departing and the Receptionist said he called at 6:10, which is probably when I was having a shower, so didn't hear it. So - all in all, a very pleasant night after a nightmare evening at home - very professional in all respects and a true home-from-home - for the price, it was a bargain!

    « Ok »

For the money facilities was good, meal was good value for money which came with a free drink. The room itself was very standard, outdated and not everything was clean. Staff very friendly though especially Kian

    « Okish »

Well hotel was nice, room was nice as the bed was big loads of space. Only downside is the room number we were in 109 was round the corner to 109b and u can hear everything includin talkin and doors opening, which wasnt ideal for me and my partner, if we can hear them..... so that was a damper, breakfast was lovely, hotel nicely decorated with lovely staff. One more thing the shower wasnt all good it was either scalding hot or freezing cold and couldnt regulate heat and the view from window wasnt nice plus the room was hot even tho no heatin on. But overall comfortable stay

    « Ok »

Stayed for just one night. We were a bit wary of this place considering some of the reviews, but it was fine. Certainly not the best Best Western that I've stayed at, but quite comfortable. Not a particularly nice building and it must cost a fortune to maintain; there were water marks on the wallpaper above the bed. Everything worked, including wifi and we were given a good welcome. Easy to find and there is a pub opposite.

    « One Night Stay. »

We had booked this hotel as we were attending a 40th birthday party nearby and were being collected from this hotel by other members of the party. Because this was a long awaited weekend away with my husband, I had decided to treat us and book an executive double room with breakfast. This was approximately £30 more than a standard room. When we checked in, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful and confirmed our booking as an executive room. When we arrived at the room, we were a little disappointed to find what I assume could only have been a standard room based on the basic appearance and lack of 'upgrade' facilities we were expecting. The bed was comfortable, but that was about it. It was obvious that it had also been a smoking room in the past as the bathroom had a stale tobacco smell and yellowing of the woodwork. Unfortunately we were not able to take this matter up with the reception staff and query the room as we were being collected for the party, and by the time we got back, there was only a night porter available who couldn't sort this out for us. What made the matter worse was when we discovered a fellow party goer who was also staying there was staying in a lovely larger room with sofas and fantastic decor, having only booked and paid for a standard room! Breakfast was ok. The overall communal areas (eg reception and bar area) looked like it had recently been modernised. It's a shame the behind the scenes areas don't appear to have been. I can't fault the experience of the staff in general, and I hope we had just been given the wrong room by mistake because what we paid for the room we were given was a bitter pill to swallow! Would I stay again? It's highly unlikely.

« One to think about »

While the hotel is reasonably priced and centrally located from the business travellers perspective it falls short of expectations. The restaurant is clean but not used extensively, certainly during this visit as well as my previous one some 18 months ago. Several times I've had to seek out staff in order to either secure a drink or service in the breakfast room. I would suggest this is primarily due to the occupancy level on the 3 nights of this last visit. In conclusion if you are looking for an economical port of call, offering a clean environment but not expecting the support of a business hotel then this establishment is for you.

    « Comfortable bed »

Spent Saturday night at this hotel with 3 friends , comfortable beds and big clean bathrooms . The service in the dining room was a little slow but the vegetarian pasta meal was very tasty . Breakfast was self service with plenty to chose from . Looks like the hotel had been recently modernised and the staff seemed friendly and helpful .

    « First time stay »

Checked in quite late, very easy to find, plenty car parking. Room on second floor, lift has plenty of room. Wedding on the evening, bit noisy but only to be expected. Comfy bed, choice of pillow, slept well. Unfortunately didn't stay for breakfast...maybe next time, just rebooked for a further vist, good value for money.

« Good value for money »

Checked in on Saturday with our your operator. Room was worth the money. Nothing special but not bad. Lovely resturant and food. Resturant staff are polite and quiet. Me, my husband, our friend and his wife were well looked after by the staff. The manager was very efficient and professional, and the young man with the tattoos was lovely, nothing was too much trouble- faultless efforts, too marks boys. We hope they are still there next year when we rebook.

« One night, once a year. Fine »

Location. Easy to spot. If you can't fined it you shouldn't be driving. It's right on the main road. The area it's self holds no interest unless your looking for a slightly shabby but cheap second hand car or a bit of carpet. First impressions. Looks ok from the outside, reception looks ok but the carpet behind reception is, well... Full of character. I was given a warm welcome by he girl on reception and checked in efficiently. It's about a Mike to the room. That's the first surprise. The place is a lot bigger than it looks. When I finally got to my room, ( slightly out of breath) it was clean..ish if you don't put your case onto of the wardrobe ( I spent ten mins coughing. The room was really warm so I opened the window, luckily unlike most hotel chains who's Windows only open enough to post a letter in case you have the urge to jump presumably, this window fully opened allowing cool air in. I arrived just after 8pm and was told the kitchen was closed, it normally stays open until 9 but since it was quiet they had closed but very kindly offered to make me a sandwich. I declined this offer and went in search of Chinese food. On my return the bar appeared deserted so off I went in search for some staff in order to quench my growing thirst. I found him at the reception desk practising his best chat up lines on the receptionist. I asked for a little service at the bar and he obliged by not only pouring me a cold pint but then wasn't happy with the way it poured so poured another two to get it right. Both of which he gave to me. What a nice chap. I can't comment on the food as I was unable to sample their wears.. This place isn't what you expect from a best western. Not a uniform in sight and come to think of it. Not many customers either. Would I stay again I hear you ask. I'm only here because the other hotel I use was full. So not if I could help it. Sorry Barron court. Your not for me unless I'm desperate.

    « Awful »

Room: awful. Pillows stained, loo seat not fixed properly a white knuckle ride in itself. No room service although it is stated that there is. My sons shower was broken. Food: dreadful. Woman had face like a slapped bum and did not want to be there. Breakfast was awful. Staff very indiscreet, talking about another member of staff not quietly and not very nicely. Overall: public toilet had poo on the cubicle door. Dirty. Positives: our window in our room didn't open very wide otherwise we would have hurled ourselves out in despair. If this is the "Best" I would hate to see the worst.

    « Cold Shower! »

I know occasionally there is going to be a fault in a hotel with the hot water. There was no possibility of using another shower or anyone on hand to fix it. The same with the in-room telephone. This shows a lack of organisation to me and not what I pay for. Unlikely to use this hotel again which didn't seem to be in the nicest of areas either.

« Dinner at the restaurant... »

Nice place, staff very present. Lovely starter. Sunday dinner was disappointing, beef was stringy, vegetables were dry. My desert was average. They could have done with cleaning the cutlery better... not sure I would go again.

    « OK for a stop over »

This hotel is about 4 miles from Walsall centre on quite a busy road, The front of the property is quite old with a newer accommodation wing at the rear. The older part of the property is clean and tidy if a bit tired in places. There is a long CLOSED health and fitness suite. Excellent rate for hotel via My room was on first floor in old part of hotel. It was quite spacious, seemed clean and reasonably fitted. There wasn't a headboard on bed and were it should have been was against a central heating radiator - odd. Shower was variable temperature and very sensitive to flow changes. Biggest problem with room was noise - The floorboards in the room above creaked with the slightest movement and any walking resulted in very loud creaks. The occupant seemed to move constantly until gone 1am ! Then just after 5am, one of the function rooms was below this room and what appeared to be the noise of people dragging furniture across the floor. Never tried the bar/restaurant, bar meals not particularly cheap. There is a Marstons Pub across the road and several more pubs takeaways etc within 1 mile towards Walsall Common. Check in was very efficient and friendly. Check out in the morning was slower as only 1 person and several workmen all checking out at same time in front. Would use it again and maybe try newer wing. Plenty of free parking.

« Gone from Bad to Worse. »

In my last review of this Hotel I said Never Again,.....However at Weekend we went on a Mystery Weekend and this was our Overnight Hotel. On arrival the Receptionist ( no name badge....but Asian and a Whit blouse as opposed to everyone else in black)......?just pushed a list at me and said ' find your name on there and sign at the side of it'....?I repeated what she said adding ' please ! ' ..,..she looked at me as if I had 2 heads.....Customer Service Training is imperative !!!!........she gave me an envelope room directions !.......Up to the second floor.......we found room 209 and 209B, no 209A.....,the key did not fit 209......back down to reception, explained..... And she said ' if it doesn't fit 209 ...obviously its 209B.......Yeh right (she has a problem )....?..evening meal at 6.30pm.....on entering the Dining Area......she said.....' Find a table and sit down !!!' ( she really has a problem ) 7pm still waiting to be served......eventually it came...Pate served with sweet brioche bread and mango chutney..... NO !.....uck.....Half an hour later still no main we left and went across to Castro Pub...had a great meal. This Hotel has NO Air Conditioning.... It was terrible, like sleeper in a sauna......... NEVER EVER AGAIN AND THIS TIME I MEAN IT.

    « Very good value »

I stayed one night while on business. It was ideal food good, breakfast particularly, given it was a buffet type. The English breakfast was fresh and not tired as sometimes when it comes to help youseves. The staff were very helpful and the place was clean all be the rooms were a bit dated, but comfortable. The only problem was it was a particularly warm night and as is the normal in hotels these days. You. Could not open the windows more than 70 - 80 mm, due to a 'safety bar' ( isn't health and safety wonderful) The room was thus rather hot at night and the a bit noisy early morning. But overall I would stay there again

    « Fine budget accommodation »

My wife and I spent two nights at a Baron's Court Hotel while celebrating her fathers 60th birthday in nearby Chasetown. We arrived at about 9pm on a Friday, when a party was in full swing. The hotel entrance to this tutor fronted building on the main road in Walsall wood was already swamped with revellers smoking which was a nuisance, but hardly the hotels fault. Inside the hotel was clean and modern, if not to my taste with too much glitter, dark furniture and tinted lighting. The receptionist was brilliant, and quickly checked us in and explained where our room was. We were on the third floor and didn't hear a peep from the party all night. It was a longish walk to the room, down some interestingly decorated corridors with spot lighting, and the room was perfectly fine, clean and spacious enough. The bathroom was particularly modern and well designed. The receptionist called a local taxi firm on our behalf to get a quote into Lichfield on Firdya night, which was £10, and we trotted off to enjoy our evening. At breakfast the first morning it took a while for staff to notice us waiting to be seated at the entrance to the brassiere restaurant. Once we were seated, I found our table offered no natural light and the decor continued to play havoc with my sensibilities as glittering diamanté lamps tried to show modern design. We had a better table on the second morning. Breakfast itself was fine with a wide buffet selection, and my wife really enjoyed her full English saying that the sausages were a real highlight. Unfortunately the tea and coffee from the canteens were weak and tasteless, but there was a fresh hot water canteen and tea bag so it was possible to make your own tea instead. On both mornings there was a problem with toast, as the staff couldn't replenish this as fast as customers were taking it, but the overall quality of the breakfast was fine for the price. My wife's aunt had suggested that the hotel was supposed to have a spa, but inspection around the back of the hotel revealed that it USED to have a spa, which is now derelict. Never mind. When we went to check out at 11:00am, check out time, there was only one member of staff on the reception desk and my wife had to wait almost 15 minutes as the receptionist dealt with a slew of guests all at once. This was slightly disappointing, but overall we enjoyed a comfortable, reasonably priced stay.

« Dog owners wanting to take their dog, beware and speak to the hotel and ask questions before booking »

This hotel looked suitable and comfortable. We wanted to stay one night and take our dog. I checked on line and it was pet friendly then late rooms rang the hotel to check and this was ok'd. After sending an email requesting a quiet room if possible, also to find out where the dog was allowed to go these were the points - "we would be told on arrival where the dog was and wasn't allowed to go". Following from another of my emails asking if the dog was allowed in the bar area, knowing he wouldn't be allowed in the restaurant for dinner or breakfast (me and my husband were prepared to eat separately), the reply I was given was " because they had a wedding on he wouldn't be allowed anywhere in the hotel due to guests having children and people eating". From that it was clear he was only allowed in the room. I always like to socialise when staying away and having a nightcap is something to look forward to. We don't leave the dog in a room on his own as he isn't used to it, I wouldn't want him to whine and disturb other guests or scratch at the door. He has never done this as he has never been left. He is a very small friendly dog and doesn't moult. My issue wasn't really regarding hotel policy as each come with their own policies but my issue is with the advertising on line. This should state pet friendly - in rooms only. This way lots of research time wouldn't be wasted. I have therefore cancelled my booking. Beware people, I found this out by emailing. If I hadn't I would have paid £54 plus £10 for the dog to not enjoy ourselves. Sammy, the events manager was apologetic.

    « Hotel of Horrors!! »

We stayed two nights whilst attending a friends birthday party close by. Arrived at 10.30 on Friday night to find the reception area and entrance full of people attending what appeared to be an engagement party. The front steps were full of smokers and the noise was unbelievable! Managed to check in and the couple we were travelling with had to ask to be moved as the noise in their room from the party was terrible! Had breakfast in the hotel the following morning which was pretty average and went out to the party. We returned at around 11pm to find a wedding reception in full swing with the entrance full of drunk smokers and the reception area full of party goers. Some other friends of ours had booked to stay on Saturday night but we found out in the morning they had left around midnight to drive home to Devon as the noise was so bad in their room. The Barons Court appears to be a party venue with little thought for guests not attending the party!! Book a room here if you want to be kept awake half the night, spend 10 minutes waiting for someone to speak to at reception and partake of a pretty poor breakfast!! We won't be back.

    « Reasonable Price »

Reasonable hotel for a 2 night stay. Noise due to functions was an issue. Staff could have advised on these functions whilst at check-in. Booked 3 rooms. 1 Room was very hot requested a stand fan but this did not turn up! Lighting in one of the rooms did not work. Reported by no joy fixing Water fluctuated between hot and be careful!

    « Afternoon Tea March 2015 »

Visited here last year with a voucher from Groupon. We had upgraded to a Champagne Afternoon Tea. Not a great start when we were asked if we would prefer tea/coffee or champagne. Told it was either/or, despite the voucher saying "add" champagne rather than "substitute". The waitress eventually agreed we could have a glass of champagne each and a pot of coffee between us. The sandwiches were very bland and unispired - went stale whilst we were still eating them. The cakes were tiny and almost non-existant. We also did not appreciate having ONE scone between us!! We also found it laughable that a group on another table shared a pot of tea between 8 of them, and then were told any more tea would be charged per cup! They barely had half a cup each. It was fortunate that we were not there with friends as it would have been so embarrassing! Would not return for afternoon tea.

    « Disappointing »

I read reviews on here for this hotel before going, and what they said really rang true. The hotel itself is quite nice. But we were part of a coach trip, and they definitely did not handle it well. As we wrestled our way from the reception desk to head to our rooms, we then had menus thrust upon us to... complete, I guess the word is. They were just menus with exceptionally limited options. My youngest son essentially had pate on a slice of toast. And that was it. Some of the coach had managed to escape before they got the menu, it was a clear afterthought. Serving up dinner was even worse than our welcome. Our table was walked past with he correct food several times, it seemed like we were being left while last. Though I do not know why. We had made some special requests on our menu (like no sauce on the chicken), but other people took these before they had any chance of reaching us. In total it took two hours to get through our meal. We then trudged back to our room massively disappointed and some of us still hungry! The hotel managed to save themselves a little at breakfast. It was a help yourself breakfast. There never seemed to be enough of anything, but more did get brought out eventually. It was much more efficient this way. Perhaps they should look at doing the same for the evening meal?

    « First aid training venue ( »

Whilst receiving training this week, we were in one of the suites at this hotel. It was a great venue, roomy, clean and decent facilities. We were kept topped up all day with iced water, coffee, tea and biccies. Very good service. But the meal at lunchtime? Superb! I felt like a VIP at the hotel proper. A very nice lasagne one day and on another a small but beautifully cooked, tender steak! I'm now thinking of trying the hotel proper. Well done!

« Exceptional service even though we were only staying one night »

We stayed on Saturday July 30th and felt very well looked after from the moment of our arrival. Although a wedding was going on ( just read their review and feel so pleased that they had a great occasion!) our coach party was booked in very efficiently. The evening meal was tasty, well presented and with a good choice for all 3 courses, served by friendly and efficient staff. The breakfast was delicious;I particularly valued the wide choice available; the good quality sausages were exceptional. Thank you! The room was super, a good size with windows that opened; We loved the bath, were glad of the tea and coffee facilities with good sized mugs. I was anxious about the noise reports in other reviews but I always take my Quies ear plugs when travelling. I had a great night's sleep on a very comfortable bed. Staff were smiling and very friendly - thank you all for a really good experience!

    « Exceeded all expectations »

We had our wedding here on 30.7.2016. We contacted Sammy, who is the events coordinator, and also a credit to the hotel. Every email was answered quickly and she kept us informed of everything all the way through. The day of the wedding came, any nerves soon went as I could see Sammy had done everything I had requested. All my guests commented how great the day was and the day soon became bigger than I ever expected. The food was absolutely perfect. A lot of my guests are massive food fans and they all complimented the wonderful food that was served. It looked amazing- completely exceeded all my expectations. On the night, the hotel provided their own DJ's, a worry I had previously had as there was some big music fans in my party. The DJs helped to finish off, what was the most perfect day. They were funny and entertaining and played any song at our request. All the staff at Barons Court turned my "low key" wedding into the best day of my life. Thank you to you all and a massive thank you to Sammy. From Mr and Mrs Pemberton.

    « Unfortunate location »

It's a shame that an industrial estate and landfill site have grown up around this hotel which does tend to detract somewhat. On the whole, I have stayed in better Best Westerns but rooms nicely refurbished to very comfortable standard, clean and good attention to detail. Was in a room at the front but traffic noise was not overly intrusive. The food was of a very good quality and the restaurant staff efficient, pleasant and attentive. Despite there being a wedding reception on we didn't have any disturbance. Minor negative points :- - yes, you can hear the occupants of adjacent rooms to a certain extent ( this extended to the room above as well where there seemed to be herd of elephants staying ) - there are only 2 sets of stairs and a small lift. The front stairs are round a couple of corners, quite steep and only about a yard wide so a bit awkward to manoeuvre with luggage - like a lot of hotels the room was hot and the radiator still pumping out some heat despite being "off". There is a Marston's pub over the road and, if you want a pleasant, quiet walk access to a canal towpath at the back of the hotel which is a delight.

    « Great hotel »

Just stayed 1 night staff were excellent couldnt do enough for you. Rooms comfy and spotless. Breakfast choice very good, will definately stay again. Good value for money. Some noise from main road but didnt bother us still slept with window open.

« Not the usual Best Western Standard »

Ive stopped here a few times when in Midlands on business. Sadly the hotel falls short of the usual Best Western standard and some of the rooms are a little tired. The menu is a bit lack lustre and the bar a bit lacking in atmosphere. Loads of free parking though, decent speed wifi and comfy beds. Breakfast isn't the best, but better than many budget hotels. By and large the staff are good though.

Just 1 night stop off with National Holidays. Looked part decent when first arriving, but the outside of the place is just falling to bits with peeling paint and rotten wooden windowsills. A bit of TLC could be what it needs. My room was to the side of the hotel, I think above the kitchen given the unbearable heat, thankfully the windows did open so I could get some air in. Evening meal time was atrocious. Told that the sit down time was 18.30, what they forgot to mention was that it was indeed just the sit down time, not served time. It took 2 hours for some soup, turkey dinner and sweets to be served. Far too slow - even the receptionist helped out. Given that there was a wedding on that night I thought that I may be bothered with noise, but pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to endure their disco til the small hours. I must have been well placed away from the function room. Breakfast was self service. Nothing much to report, the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, toast, fruit etc. In all, I definitely wouldn't stay here again and I think that the owners should look to making it look more appealing. It's a shame as I bet at one time it would have been quite nice. Note, just one tiny lift for the whole hotel, so if you're a bit unsteady on your feet then consider asking for a ground floor room if they do them.

« Rather Tired and Main Road Outside makes it a Noisy Stay »

Stopped for one night to see our Granddaughter on the way back from the Lake District. Found the hotel to be rather tired and with a main road outside it makes it a very noisy stay especially as the room was hot and airless and you need a window open. Ideal for a one night business stay nut not for couples. Only plus points were very helpful staff and dogs were allowed.

    « Christening »

Held my sons christening party here Sunday 10th July. From my initial enquiry to yesterday Barons Court and all its staff have been amazing. Sami who deal with the booking was helpful, very professional and made the organisation process easy. The room was absolutely perfect, the food (starter and carvery) was fantastic. The staff on the day couldn't do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend Barons Court for any function.

    « barons court »

excellent new bedrooms and nice staff, with good breakfast. location is rubbish on main road in a industrial area. the outside building and interior walkways need a makeover. on saying that the price and ease to get to places made it a good option

    « B+B wedding Stay »

From Newcastle me and my Wife came down for a wedding and a 3 night stay. And I was very impressed the hotel is very well kept clean and tidy. The staff are also very friendly (apart from the breakfast team) the wedding it's self was a success well ran but I will say one down side was that for a evening reception for 200 and 2 coach trips in the hotel please have more than 3 bar staff, lots of guests were really not happy about the service times and the fact that the beer kept running out, but I will say that the young lady running the bar did a extraordinary job even tho all the above happened(I apologize I didn't catch her name) all in all it was a very pleasant stay

« Clean, tidy and inviting »

I stayed at this hotel after checking out of a different hotel that wasn't that great. This hotel looked beautiful from the outside as it looked old yet modern at the same time. The reception looked really nice with the seating area and the receptionist who checked us in was very welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean tidy and was spacious too. The bathroom was also clean and tidy except there was something missing that was on the wall next to the sink that could do with looking at. That was the only bad thing. The breakfast was nice however best western need to invest in a toaster machine because the toast was dry and cold. Great hotel though!

« wedding at hotel and overnight stay »

my son recently held his wedding reception here although there were misunderstandings i feel i will write this review based on my own findings The jerome suite was dressed by a local company classical moments and to use the words breathtaking is a understatement . The room was light airy and tastefully decorated The room seats 100 people but it states on the website it holds 200. Check in fast efficient and helpful man on reception explained everything . Breakfast Meal was served by attentive happy staff . nothing was too much trouble .The meal itself was really good and cooked perfectly .people commented on how they enjoyed the meal Bedrooms We had a family room and it was massive a generous size single a double and sofa bed . we did not use the sofa bed as the hotel provided us with a cot . The bathroom was immaculate and clean bedding and towels all crisp white with toiletries provided . tea and coffee and biscuits also provided . only gripe was sound insulation was non existent a few noisy neighbours knocking on each others doors at 2pm when i had my grandchildren sleeping ( they were not guests from the wedding ) Bar Service The evening seemed to go a bit downhill when members of staff did not turn up for work which put pressure on the others . The barrels needed changing but not enough hands to serve and sort out problems left a lengthy queue at the bar . The staff did give free drinks out to apologise thou The buffet which was done by ourselves never got put onto the tables for the evening so the bridesmaids had to do it perhaps a misunderstanding or lack of communication We enjoyed the whole day and night at barons court and i would highly recommend this hotel if your looking for a wedding venue . its not very often i get to review a hotel in my hometown but the hotel has been refurbished and the decor and furnishings look lush and elegant . We did have a lot of kids at the wedding party but the staff never moaned at them . I think once they address the staffing issues or get staff they can rely on i think this could be a really excellent hotel i mean on the day there were 2 coach fulls of holidaymakers and 150 guests at the wedding but not enough staff to cope with the numbers The manager is in the process of addressing the problems on the day with my son and daughter in law so just goes to show the professionalism no way this is a bad review as i think it is a very good hotel better than some in the area.

    « Groupon Bargain »

We booked this hotel knowing that it was at a bargain price and did not expect too much. The room we were allocated initially was alright but I asked about an upgrade and we got this at no additional charge. Hotel staff could not have been more helpful. We got a room with a living area and dressing room to boot and two TV's. The bedroom was immaculate and there was no dirt on window sills etc. When it came to breakfast, this was a self serve affair which was adequate. Husband had cooked breakfast which was nearer to lukewarm and I had a very nice continental breakfast. We also ate in on the first night as part of the deal and were very happy with our choice of meals. The bar however, stocks a very limited selection of beers which slightly disappointed 'husband' however, staff were very apologetic and helpful. Would I visit again - yes for £79.00 for two nights including main course and wine on the first night - you cannot go far wrong.

« Dont come hare on a Saturday and expect sleep »

Blaring music until 12:30am even though we were told it would be quiet. No warning given about the wedding(s) when booking. Unsympathetic staff when questioned. Told this is every Saturday so stay clear unless attending a wedding.

« Sets poor standards and Fails to meet them »

The room was dirty, a good thick layer of dirt on top of the wardrobe was indicative of poor standards and even poorer supervision. The shower head did not fit the system and the water temperature was above appropriate guidelines and therefore presented a risk to health for those who were either young or old. The soundproofing was non existent we had to endure the horizontal gymnastics of our neighbours at 2 am not pleasant. This is also a safeguarding issue for any one with Children. The previous stay produced a vegetarian Breakfast with a meat sausage, not what one wants to start a day. Prior visits have also produced rooms where movement around the room was almost impossible. When rooms were around the £40 mark one could live with ome of the faults now they want to charge much more this hotel does not represent and sort of value for money. I have complained but clearly Henri, the owner knows better than the rest of us.

    « Good Experience »

Nice hotel, Room was very clean and bed comfortable, Power Shower. The Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. The only downside was the room was very hot but we opened the windows and did not bother to report it.

    « National holiday stay »

We stayed on 5th June with national holidays. All the Staff was very polite and helpful especially at meal time continuously asking if everything was OK or if we needed anything. Requested an iron late at night and one was brought up to room within 5 mins. Furnature was stunning all throughout downstairs. Room was very warm and comftable with tea and coffee available. Breakfast was very qood. Choice of dinners I would of preferred something a little more basic maybe lasagna or mash and veg dinner ect to choose from, although was nicely presented and was lovely just couldn't eat all meal as was very rich in taste (personal preference) free tea and coffee constantly. Bar available. The only thing I can fault is nothing to do after dinner as bar very quiet, would of loved a little entertainment to top it off. So we had to go across road to the pub. Overall lovely stay, very happy and would come again and recommend to others.

« Grubby and lack lustre staff »

Have a massive fondness for this hotel as spent 2 years working here it the 80s when it was privately owned and was something really special. So sad to see it is now a shadow of that. Can fully appreciate tiredness of hotel as that's normal but cleanliness and surly managers are unacceptable. Housekeeping and Maintenance departments appear lazy - dirty windowsills, dusty tables, broken blinds, grouting residue on tiles which just needs scouring off, easy. Reception Manager's moods varied from surly to downright rude, I watched him for a good half an hour whilst waiting in lobby and ever customer greeted with a "Yes?", not a "Good Morning" or "Can I help you". No smiles, literally scowled. We all have off days but unfortunately you can't show it in the hospitality world. He needs some basic customer service training, probably from the delightful receptionist who checked me in, she was the only good thing. Breakfast was a mess. Staff hadn't a clue. Pre made toast stuck in a bowl under a heat lamp so soggy. Bar staff lacking in evening, just overall really disappointing. Rate cheap though so can't say was overpriced for what we got. Public areas nicely decorated.

    « Weekend Stay »

We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. Teh room allocated to us was very nice and clean. We arrived late on Saturday night. The Bar staff were friendly and prapared us sandwich. The drinks were abit pricey. £3.95 for a pint of Pepsi. The shower was not that great...teh water was very hot or cold....could not get teh temperature correct. Breakfast was nice...but only 2 people serving...alot of items were running out quickly. Toast service was not good. Toast was made and left under the light. But the lady made fresh toast for us when we asked. The staff were very helpful. Hotels has loads of parking. On Monday - there was only one person at breakfast that was serving.....items were not getting replenished as quickly as people were waiting around...They need to improve staffing levels at breakfast...Tea making and also toasts....very important for weekend gateaways to get the breakfast service right....

    « Very Happy Guests »

My partner and I spent two nights of the spring bank holiday here, using a 2night bed&breakfast Groupon voucher. We were not disappointed. Lovely decor in the rooms and communal areas. Our room and grounds were generally clean and tidy. The staff were also quite pleasant. We would definitely go back again.

    « Wedding Venue »

My wedding venue was Barons Court. I was extremely thrilled with the atmosphere, management and food. I was allocated with an events manager who did an excellent job. I was more than happy with the service they provided in making my day special. I would highly recommend this as a wedding venue. Thank you to all the staff.

    « Wedding reception »

16.08.2014 A day that every bride looks forward to on her life .. planning each little detail to be perfect . This hotel was lovely the staff were on hand for everything and anything should we have needed it. We had two different rooms one for the groom prior to the wedding which was amazing and then obviously the bridal suite on the night. Our day/evening couldn't have gone any better all our guests were made to feel welcome and we're asked if they had a lovely night the morning after as we all sat for breakfast together in the hotel. Highly recommended

    « Average »

Stayed for two nights. Room was well sized but so hot it was unbearable. After turning the radiator off I opened the window. The noise of the main road was loud. Even throughout the night the road noise kept me awake. Breakfast was good enough, buffet style. My advise is to ask for a room at the back of the hotel away from the road.

    « Very Nice! »

Nice comfortable hotel with comfy beds & friendly staff. They even bought me extra tea coffee & biscuits as I was working in the room during the day. A nice touch! Thankyou :) A great breakfast sets you up for the whole day. You'll get that here - The English breakfast was brilliant! I would stay here again. (Wifi was very poor)

    « Lovely stay »

We stayed here on a National holiday weekend, we found the room very comfortable, clean and quiet . The public rooms were clean and lots of places to relax. The evening meal was lovely served at the table by pleasant waitresses and a very good buffet breakfast , no complaints at all.

    « Cosy hotel »

Stayed here for 3 nights while visiting family and friends. Very clean , beds very comfy tea and coffee and biscuits in room towels changed everyday if we wished . The staff on the reception very friendly and helpful . I would defiantly stay here again . We didn't do breakfast but I'm sure it would be good too

    « Did the Job! »

Did the Job - decent hotel in Birmingham with free safe parking. Perfect location for my customers. Fairly easy to find and value for money. Parts of the hotel looked like it needed a bit of an upgrade. Cant comment on food or other ameties as opnly there for 1 day.

    « First visit »

We visited this hotel as part of a National Holiday Deal for one night. The room was nice and clean. The food very enjoyable and we were very satisfied. The staff were professional and very helpful, especially Esme.

Booked with Groupon it cost only £49 and this included a one course meal with glass of wine for 2. The hotel staff where very polite and friendly. The rooms are quite large and clean. The food was excellent quality and only to willing to pay the extra £4.95 supp for the steak meal. If you enjoy walking then this is just up your street as you can walk miles along the old canal. Will definitely visit again

    « Nice surprise »

Booked hotel with Groupon for £49 including one course meal for 2. The hotel is based in a fairly industrialised area which did make me pull a face but was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. All the staff were very professional and polite. The rooms are clean and big and the bed was huge. The food was excellent, We paid an extra £4.95 for the steak which was well worth the extra money. We was asked from start to finish if we was happy with the service from reception to the waitresses, and they were happy to respond to any requests. Will definitely revisit the hotel again.

    « shabby rooms »

burnt leg on unlagged pipe in bathroom, paper falling off the walls, bed uncomfortable, windows rattled, Basil Fawlty would have been proud. Given a card for room entry to find it was a yale lock entry only. Unclean and smelly. Saving grace was the breakfast that was surprisingly better than average

« Less than average service; could do better, underpinned by limited choice for special diets »

This hotel is perhaps not the best of the crop in Best Western's in the UK, whilst the service at check in was quick and efficient, and the large room was OK, as others have mentioned in this forum, aspects of the hotel are overdue an update, including improving the response and speed of the hotel WiFi. In the restaurant trying to get a healthy low salt starter and dinner proved difficult. The kitchen were unable to provide non-fat milk for tea, or any low/non salt starter as they are all previously prepared earlier, and despite carefully requesting how I would like the main course to be prepared and cooked, the chef served initially served a plate with potatoes smothered in butter, carrots, as well as a seasoned ratatouille (I had requested the latter to be omitted from the plate). In the interest of ensuring that this review remains fair and balanced, it is salient to note that a second plate finally did appear as I has initially requested.

    « Great service »

Very happy with the service and staff was very good and helpful and would recommend anyone who is visiting hat a fabulous nights sleep. Airy clean immaculate room. Up to date and modern amenities. Receptionist was really good. Rooms were very clean and tidy with aircon Also the food was good

« Nice hotel - wasn't impressed with member of staff (Saria) »

Nice room, very spacious. We were staying for a funeral and missed dinner time and so ordered a curry. We asked permission at reception and were told it was fine - a member of staff (Saria) came over to us when we were almost finished our food and was very rude to us about eating. Rather than simply asking us to take it to our room, she made rude remarks and kept walking past giving us evil glares, even when we had put it away. She made us feel very uncomfortable and said she was going to charge us for it. It is fine to have a rule but the customer service was not good. We won't be staying here again after her rude remarks and dirty stares.

« The past few times I have stayed here I have not been totaly satisfied »

The last time I stayed at this hotel I was woken up at 0215hrs in the morning with what sounded like a party in an adjoining room, loud music and loud voices laughing and shouting, I tried to phone reception but could not get through, the loud music eventually stopped and the voices died down but then there was the noise of a number of people jumping around and what sounded like jumping on the bed, I had very little sleep and will not be staying here again.

    « Nice »

Have stayed at many B/W hotels and it's nice for the individuality. Some aspects need an update but it's comfortable and enjoyed my stay here If in area again will stay here again. Good selection of drinks and food good and very nice people, polite and very helpful.

    « A Thoroughly Enjoyable Stay! »

I was a bit apprehensive after reading some poor reviews, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The hotel has been recently refurbished with an impressive reception, bar and restaurant. The bedroom was modern and clean with a lovely bathroom (with bath and shower) and an extremely comfortable bed. The staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. I asked for another pillow and some extra milk and they arrived within 5 minutes. The choice of meals was slightly limited but the quality was excellent and the restaurant staff were very good. I thoroughly recommend The Barons Court Hotel and would definitely stay there again!

    « Average Hotel »

Stayed for one night. Unfortunately room was on third floor no lift after the second floor. Stairs difficult with a wonky knee. Room very hot had to turn heating off. Dog friendly hotel. Breakfast was good.

    « Poor »

Stayed here 2nd April 16 one night , first impression when walk in door nice welcome , until u get to room radiates not working , bed like sleeping on a board , 2 single beds , bath with shower over bath , bath is high up so if u have problems getting in n out of baths this is no good . We went for evening meal they brought menu out not a good choice then got told was wrong menu , brought second menu out still not great choice. . Breakfast was serve you self n was ok . If u get room 331 don't try walking up stairs with bags 2 lots of stairs , there. Was 16 of us in the party there was a young lad who didn't like any thing on menu so got some thing else i think they had forgotten about his meal it was a bit well done . We had all booked with national hoilday to see the gadget show at Birmingham ,it was there choice to stay there , it took us all two n half hours for our evening meal to say it started at six o'clock

    « Poor »

Service was just about ok but food was awful! Everything looked and tasted like it came out of the freezer plus they struggled with food allergies even after weeks notice. The prawn cocktail had about three prawns chopped into pieces to give the illusion of there being more, the prosecco was warm, other dishes had little or no taste. One small dish of vegetables between eight people too! There's far better places out there, they need to up their game.

    « PHIL »

What a fabulous nights sleep. Airy clean immaculate room. Up to date and modern amenities. Receptionist absolutely wonderful. Thanks Phil. Very quiet considering there was a wedding party. Local pub just across the road. What more could you need.

« Carvery Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday »

This is the best car very for miles around. I visited for my birthday and the ages were 3, 26, 34, 65 and 69. It suited everyone. The child was treated like a princess and even she wanted to return, which we have. Just as good second time. I would not go anywhere else for Sunday lunch. Highly recommended.

    « Party »

I stayed in this hotel for a family members party, found the room clean, spacious although room was very warm. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the party food was of a good quality.I would recommend this hotel.

    « Very average »

This hotel was cheap so I gave it a try. It is located next to a landfill, the smell is horrendous if the wind comes from the wrong direction. Rooms were ok and reasonably clean, but very noisy, I could hear every move my neighbors made. The heating was situated behind the bed, so it was either fry or freeze. Dinner: Had to stand around for quite a while before a waiter showed me to a table was expensive and portion size not huge, but quality was good. Wifi was free but very slow

    « Very Slow Service »

the Bar/restaurant staff had a couldn't be bothered attitude resulting in the service from both bar & restaurant being very slow. The Bar/restaurant was also very cold. My colleague, over from South Africa, took to wearing a coat whilst in this area, having to stay in it whilst eating his meal. A well trained member of staff would have noticed this & made sure that he was made to feel comfortable & warm!

    « Excellent »

Business outing , stayed just outside Walsall this time , not so handy for restaurants and pubs but hotel menu has a good choice at reasonable prices , very clean rooms well serviced and charming staff , nice buffet breakfast

« This hotel should be called the "Mary Celeste hotel" staff available need to be at post and customer focused »

This is a very tastefully decorated hotel for its age with plenty of parking. The hotel gives a very good visual first impression when entering the reception area. However, this is where the problem starts. I drove 4.5 hrs with four members of my family from Norfolk. We arrived at 20:10 hrs looking forward to a brief rest and then a fine à la carte dinner in the Brassiere. No one was at the reception, it was deserted even the small room designed for the staff behind the desk was empty, after 5 minutes one of our group went in search and at the bar was told someone will be along, after another 5 minutes or so we were booked in. After putting bags in the room we headed downstairs at 20:30 hrs and as we approached the bar area the chef in his whites was having a drink. I asked one of the girls passing if we could have a table for 5; she said she would have a look and headed to the restaurant which has a closing time of 21:30. We had to go and look for her after five minutes and inside the restaurant were 4 people two couples on two different tables hardly rushed off their feet. The waitress came back and went straight past us into the kitchen as we were buying drinks [Which you then have to go to reception to pay for?] raised voices were heard coming for the kitchen and she reappeared with a note pad written on it with 4 choices on offer chicken and chips, omelette & chips some form of Salad I never heard the last choice, and we asked is that it. And she replied ?basically yes?. It is needless to say we headed out and went to eat elsewhere, much to the amusement of the waitress I suppose it was mission accomplished for her and the chef. The room was very nice very comfy bed, great TV nice decoration in all our rooms which were clean and tidy. Breakfast was self-service and very good, disappointed at having to make your own tea from a flask of water but overall very good breakfast and good service from the blonde haired waitress on duty who was cheerful and friendly Check out at 10:00hrs again after 15 minutes wait at reception we simply got fed up and left the room cards on the desk all the people behind us did the same. What hotel has no staff at the desk between 09:00 hrs and 10:30 hrs it's the peak time to leave. I guess you get what you pay for, it's a cheap but very well presented internet purchase hotel but how hard is it to muster the crew, I thought at one stage this was an experimental 100% self-service hotel.

    « One night »

Got there ,and what a surprise, beautifully decorated, one member of staff on reception but very friendly and polite, the room was exceptional, ordered room service arrived promptly and piping hot! Couldn't ask for a better place to stay shame surroundings are a bit industrial , but will be returning x

« Avoid at all costs. »

First impressions were good on arrival lots of parking and quite a tidy appearance from the outside and reception. My wife booked and got a cheap price and believe me you don't always get what you pay for! Receptionist was well mannered. The room was a decent size(can swing a cat) but smelt of mould and cigarettes, lights did not light up the room and bedside lamp had no bulb, room was freezing.I went to watch the news on the TV and it was in watchable most likely to do with the aerial I think as other channels were as bad. On asking Duty Manager for another room she made a silly remark and then made me feel like she was doing me a favour. No apology was given or alternative room. I went for a shower and you can't set temperature it is mixed at the taps and hot water changes temperature all the time so you will burn or freeze. Why they haven't invested in thermostatic mixers I do not know. Food menu was impressive but unfortunately the food was not! Decor is very strange. One hour wait for a Steak that should have been medium rare it came Well done. On the dining room roof they have stuck A4 pieces of paper to hide things on the ceiling I found this very bizarre. Complained again to incompetent Duty manager again who was more than happy to be unhelpful.Drinks and food was expensive. On going to bed found led lights don't actually turn off fully as there are about 6 LEDs per bulb(3bulbs)that stayed illuminated all night. We didn't entertain breakfast as we didn't want to stay a moment longer. I have read reviews on weddings here, why anybody would come here to get married is beyond me. My wife wanted to find somewhere else but we both had 2 glasses of wine waiting for tea and getting taxis was not a real option. Stay at your own peril.

« Does what it needs to do ?? »

I'm not normally the 'business' trip kind but on this occasion needs must! Twin room two nights £92 total... Which is fine considering you get a clean bedroom and bathroom. Beds are pretty pokey and duvet on just fits?? But I can't grumble because it did what it needed to do at a good rate Place is a bit dated on the outside to look at and the corridors are a bit of a rabbit warren (especially after a few beers in the adequately comfortable bar) £5 taxi into town is fine... I would stay again ??

    « Woeful »

Met with indifference at reception when checking in, no eye contact and a confusing and rushed description of where the lift was. Got to the room, dumped bag, opened the bathroom door, urine all over the floor, with urine stains on the shower curtain, side of the bath and towel. Complained, no apology from the professionally indifferent girl at reception, only the robotic offering of another room. As no apology I asked for the manager. I got what I found out was the duty manager who I spoke to as all the other staff, mostly scruffy which says it all, stood around and listened before I asked her to see the room and my issue. This was after being told they had no food service for 20-30 minutes as they had one chef on........and they were busy......imagine that. DM recommended the pub opposite for food....why don't you go to the competition style....nice. They changed my room to a musky one on the 3rd floor. The room was dated, poorly lit, probably 1990. What got me was the staffs (DM / indifferent Reception girl) attitude when changing my room....poor and unbothered. As I was with their attitude. A classic case of a hotel brand with a decent reputation being let down being run badly with poor service, standards & staff that have signed up for a career in the service industry ironically.....& they never said sorry once throughout this whole episode. Woeful.

    « Do not stay here ! »

Room stinks of cigarette smoke complained to staff who answered "that's my favourite room" met work colleges and went to restraint waited 2 hrs for food which was appalling and verging on inedible complained to a member of bar staff who had a bad attitude(shiera).I went to reception to ask for duty manager who advised the woman at the bar was duty manager. Will be advising company I work for not to use in future. I strongly recommend you do not stay in here.

« Nice to see it being redecortaed! friendly staff as normal »

décor is being updated and looks nice. Rooms have everything you need for a short stay. Nice to see old hotels being updates and not turned into apartments. Great location if travelling. Large free carpark and a new updated wifi which works great.

Stayed in an executive room with a comfortable double bed. Very helpful staff, nothing was a problem. The breakfast is good but the restaurant never fails to disappoint, having stayed here several times before the food choice and friendly staff always bring me back

« Nice hotel suited our requirements »

Only we had issues with first room (due to the bad weather i.e. high winds) we were moved to another room and everything was great. Room was tidy, warm and clean. One of the quietest hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast was excellent and well stocked sadly no Orange Juice available on this stay. Would stay again.

    « Expectations crushed »

I've been using this hotel for 10 years. I even spent my wedding night here back in 2009. I've also had 3 Xmas parties here over the years. Now living on the Isle of Wight this hotel is ideally suited for when we come back to visit family. Over the years the hotel has undergone significant improvement and you can see where money has been spent. Sadly this latest trip has been spoilt by unattentive staff who have no idea of customer service and are in dire need of a strong kick up the backside. Instead of pleasant smiles and polite chat, we had nothing but cant be bothered, not my job, what do you expect me to do about it attitude. I can't complain about my room. Clean and spacious, newly decorated with a nice big bed. However the mattress is one of the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. It's lovely when your in the middle of the bed but as you move to either side, their is no support, it practically rolls you out of the bed. I spent 2 nights afraid to roll over as the first time I did, I kept rolling till I was unceremoniously dumped on the floor! Add this too the fact that during our stay the corridors were filled with furniture, it was like an obstacle course. Combined with the heavy thick stench of cannabis it was not a pleasant experience. I will try the Premiere Inn at Lichfield next time. I won't be coming back here, a sad end to 10 years of pleasant memories.

    « Friendly comfortable hotel »

Ample parking, nice decor and comfortable rooms. Excellent power shower. Quiet location. Pleasant attentive staff. Nice restaurant and plenty of choices at breakfast and well cooked. Bedrooms have plenty of space and the wifi works well.

    « Nice stop over »

Location. Possibly not the placebo go for a stroll of an evening. Not much around if and the area ( what I could see in the dark) doesn't look overly inviting. Hotel, first impressions. On arrival it looked impressive. Much bigger than I had thought. Entering into reception I was met by a pleasant receptionist ( always a good start ). I got my room key and directions, my room turns out to be the about a mile away. Like I say. Bigger than I thought. The room was small, but ample and freshly decorated. ( I could still smell the paint). Comfy bed and nice and warm. So far so good. I decided to eat in the hotel. First impressions , 6 noisy builders sitting at the bar, shouting at each other and laughing, restaurant there where about 10 people all sitting in silence . I thought , great ! What the place lacked in atmosphere was certainly made up for with the quality of the food. Fantastic meal. Really good 10 out of 10. Staff very nice if a bit harassed. Would hate to see it busy. Turns out that a member of staff hadn't turned up and they had managed to get in a young girl to help out but with no experience. They did well though. Would I stay again? Yes. Got a good nights sleep and a good meal.

« new years eve gala »

again 2nd year in a row we stayed and joined the New years eve celebrations. Fantastic yet again, we even had the same table pure coincidence but lovely. staff worked so hard, the food and our room was fantastic cannot fault it, although one couple complained constantly Ryan one of the staff handles their constant winghing so well couldnt fault him one bit. if i had one thing that I would change it would have been the breakfast next day was a little chaotic as you dont have to pre book breakfast if you stay over on such a busy day this ahould have been compulsory aa the kitchen couldnt keep up x

« Cheap and Cheeful, our room looks very dated compared to photo above »

greeted with indifference at reception, property is ok but our room was very dated, radiator didnt work in bedroom only bathroom, clean with comfortable beds, brasserie menu was hard to find to have a look at, not exciting dishes or at the level we had expected catering for the contractors market (car park full of white vans) not like the best western hotels we have stayed at before

    « Jan 2016 »

A nice and welcoming hotel - extremely quiet. No hot water which was a shame as otherwise a good stay and very good value for money. Th breakfast was good and all staff very pleasant. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

    « Sunday Lunch »

Sunday lunch, comprising of served starter, choice of 3 meat carvery, good selection of veggies, served dessert and tea or coffee in the lounge. Very friendly staff that go out of their way to help you, very pleasant.

I thought it would be easier to score out of ten: Staff: 10 Food: 9 Room: 7 Bar: 8 (Price of drinks reasonable) Hotel Overall: 7 Would I stay again? Yes I stayed with a young family, would I stay with a young family again? Yes

« Bethel Lighthouse Annual Banquet »

The Gospel Banquet was a success, a fantastic night enjoyed by all. A Gospel night of live entertainment, sensational food, fun & laughter. The Barons Court Hotel provided an excellent menu choice & the atmosphere was electric! Thank you to The Barons Court Hotel.

« Worst Christmas day experience »

After spending a wonderful Christmas day at this hotel last year we decided to do the same again. The worst decision ever made ! The table wad booked for 1.30 and we finally had our main course over 2 hours later. There was only 3 waitresses serving who were doing their best to attend to everyone but with nearly 200 people you can imagine that it was a complete farce. There was families there who decided to leave without having their dessert or coffees as they had been waiting that long. Such a disappointing experience on what should be a memorable day. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

« OK but good do better »

Overnight stop during business trip. Hotel check in was good and room is fine except radiators were on full and windows closed. Took about 3 hours to cool the room down. Bar very friendly if quiet. Restaurant is well laid out - but thought my steak overcooked and a little tough. Would probably be ok with going back but would not want to spend more than 2 nights here.

    « Best Afternoon Tea !! »

Fabulous afternoon tea... Choice of areas to sit... Big comfortable chairs... Privacy.... And the food was amazing.... More than enough... Sandwich flings yummy and the cakes were melt in the mouth.... Lovely service from Sammy and Mike/Mark .. sorry didn't catch your name ! Already arranging our next visit ??

« Ok for the money. »

Stayed here before about a year ago and it's about the same. Staff are pleasant and the rooms are ok for the money. If you eat here it's a bit like a ghost ship some nights. But the food is nice enough and the right price. The choice is limited in the local area for hotels and I think this is the best of the bunch.

« Stay in this hotel in November »

Hi It was our first stay in this hotel with our children. We had two rooms communciating with two bathrooms. The rooms were plaisant and cleaned with everything we needed. The breakfast was correct and good. The waitress was efficient but could have been more smily... Even if the hotel needs some improvement especially regarding the decoration, I will reommand it .....

« Pleasant stay at an improving hotel. »

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last two years and have always had some reason to complain. This time, however, that wasnt the case. The hotel is being refurbished and is looking much better and we had no problems during our six nights there.

« Cold and draughty room »

Very disappointed. Booked two double rooms as meeting up with friends. Our rooms were really cold and draughty as the radiators did not work in both rooms. Toilet seat was broken and the shower in the bath was impossible to control the temperature. There was a good bar with a very helpful night porter.

« Stayed for Birmingham Tattoo »

Read a lot of reviews beforehand and few of them were encouraging. However, the hotel was nowhere as bad as portrayed. One or two aspects suggested a 'tired' establishment (frayed carpet edges, for example) but the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the food OK. The breakfast suffered from shortage of staff and lack of preparation but it all came together eventually. There was ample hot water at all times and this pleased my wife, who prefers a bath to a shower. There was evidence that upgrading/modernisation was taking place. Wifi didn't connect from the room. Noise from music events intrusive.

« Needs a complete change of staff »

I will no longer be using this hotel, I have been 3 times in total and it just does not seem to be getting any better, the room was good, unfortunately the noise from other guests was bad, the food is fair, but quite small portions and again the staff at breakfast just doe not seem to care, especially if you have been before

    « Very poor »

The room is lit by 2 halogen spotlights one directly above the desk so either sit in the dark or be blinded. The bathroom is small the taps were loose and span around. The shower will either be cold or burn you and floods the floor when used. The tv is offset from the bed and does not move so very usefully if you want to sit in the chair in front of it. Every morning at 7.15 ish the housekeeping staff March up and down the corridors slamming doors so you won't oversleep. I had one average meal in the restaurant one very good one and one total disaster. The internet worked one day out of four. I would prefer to pay for working Internet. Other than that all was fine.

    « Not the best »

I stayed here for 3 nights, the room was not very clean, stains of sone sort next to the bed, bed side tables were dirty with old pieces of sellotape stuck to tops. There was no telephone in the room, which I told reception about twice as I couldn't order roomservice, I was told they would inform manager, nothing was done. At 6.30 every morning you can hear the kitchen extract fans turn on and the bed vibrates. My room was an interconnecting room as I could hear everything happens in the ajoining room, which wasn't very pleasant to hear other couples gettingup to their business, very disappointing nights sleep due to this.

    « Disappointed »

Stayed at the hotel the weekend of the 21st Nov to take advantage of the Birmingham Christmas markets. I would not recommend. Upon checking in we were informed that the wifi wasn't available. The lift can only be described as a scary ride! Tried to use the shower. It had two settings: boiling hot or freezing! Could hardly sleep during night. The room was incredibly warm and the noise from other rooms was unbearable. I would have thought the walls were made of paper. The service in the restaurant was terrible. Our waiter hadn't even tucked his shirt in. We waited nearly an hour for a starter and around half an hour for our main.

    « Great value »

We stayed here following a 21st birthday party there. The venue was lovely and clean, in process of renovation and really taking shape. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Would reccomend, we struck gold as this was also a deal via groupon so amazing value for money.

« serious injury skin ripped of arms by lift doors »

my wife and I was staying at barons court, went to get on lift and the doors closed on me and ripped the skin of my arms. I had to go to hospital my arms are badly scared had no call from owners foo see how I was, they have refused to give me a copy of accident report will never stay there again . Also a member of the staff have told me they were nearly trapped by lift she said she would not use lift again.

    « Dissapointed »

Looked great on website so disappointed, got to room the heating was on full blast in room no valves to turn it down. It sounded like somebody was in the room having a shower. Been to best western hotels before was beautiful just dissapointed.

    « We loved it! »

We stayed at this place for a good 4 days while in town for a wedding. Our room was absolutely beautiful. It must have been just recently upgraded. It was very spacious and very comfortable. We didn't spend much time at the hotel beside sleeping but coming back to such a beautiful room every night was lovely. Would definitely return.

    « Would not recommend! »

Only stayed here for one night when going to a nearby family do. Travelled on a Friday night straight from work and checked in no problems. The room was poorly lit but looked clean so unpacked our things to get showered and ready for our night out. It became apparent the TV didn't work at all and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. There were still drips of shower gel or shampoo or something down the tiles and the bath looked really dingy. The shower was hard to get on. Oh well... just for one night we thought. We arrived back to the hotel later that evening quite shattered as been a long day with work and then travelling to be woken 05:40 in the morning to the most horrendous noise that appeared to becoming from our radiator. I mean really loud and went on for up to an hour. Yes thanks for that been up early all week for work and always look forward to a sleep on a Saturday. We'd paid extra for breakfast. £15 for the two of us but would not recommend. Wish we'd gone out for it instead and as we left our room to go down to breakfast we literally stood straight onto dust sheets with a decorator telling us to watch the paint as we squeezed by the narrow hallway. On checking out we mentioned these problems to be met with a response that they were already aware. No apology, no I'm so sorry your night's sleep was disturbed. Just they were already aware!

    « An OK Hotel »

On arrival at the hotel it looks ok and nothing special. The greeting at reception was friendly although the guy on reception seemed flustered. I was on the third floor and the lift only went up to the second floor after which you needed to take the stairs. In reception there was a sign advising that the hotel was being refurbished and along the third floor corridor there were plenty of signs advising that the paint was wet. My room appeared as though it had recently been decorated and was of a good standard. The bathroom however would not have looked out of place in a 1970s TV show; the toilet, bath and sink were green in colour and the tiles on the wall were retro to say the least! The underneath of the toilet seat was heavily stained and really needed replacing. I decided to have room service and found that there was no telephone in the room and so I had to resort to using my mobile. The hotels main number took an age to be answered. However once I got through and placed my order, my food was delivered within 20 minutes and was extremely tasty and good value for money. I would highly recommend the Cajun spiced chicken baguette. Overall an ok hotel.

    « Fantastic Meal! »

Using an excellent LivingSocial voucher, my wife and I had dinner here (as non-residents) for the very first time....we were delighted by the warm welcome and efficient service throughout the meal, an amazing choice of varied dishes on the menu, extremely tasty quality food served for all three courses, and an overall wonderful dining experience! Will definitely come again.

« Nice place shame about the dinner service »

Stayed for a weekend trip with National Holidays. The room was clean and fresh with nice decoration. The staff where polite and helpful. Very tasty food. The negative was the service at mealtimes. Unfortunately it was chaos. If you ordered a different meal to your dinning partner, you would of eating yours before there's was served If they can get the service sorted it would be a nice place for the price

    « Terrible nights sleep »

I expected this hotel to be terrible given the reviews and when arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the look of the room and the bar area. The shower was very difficult to work and the water temperature was scolding hot! Our TV didn't work. The bar area was quite nice and staff worked hard. Sadly we didn't get a minutes sleep, there was a problem with the radiator and the noise coming from it was unbearable. At one point we thought there was an alarm going off. This continued for several hours. When I complained at reception the response was poor. It wouldn't take much to make this a good hotel but I'm not sure the staff are that bothered.

    « Pleasant evening »

Friendly pleasant staff, with a quick check in. Hotel manager arranged taxi promptly and everything was on time. The room was clean and tidy with tea/coffee making facilities. The only criticism was that the TV reception was poor and I was trying to watch the Rugby!

    « Disappointing stay »

I stayed here due to the room being good value but even then it was overpriced. First the good, nice looking room, comfy bed, pleasant staff. Now the bad, telephone in room didn't work and when manager was told there was no apology or possible solution, the taps on the sink were loose and needed two hands to turn on and off, hot water came out of cold tap, the shower was either scolding or freezing, room was very hot and I couldn't turn the radiator off fully, this all led to an uncomfortable stay. Finally the service in the Brasserie was ok at best, I asked for a glass of water and had to remind the waitress twice, I was the only guest in the restaurant at the time, I was half way through my soup when I was offered a bread roll and the potato wedges that came with the meal were clearly from frozen mass produced rather than fresh home cooked as the writing in the menu would lead you to believe. I would not recommend this hotel nor stay here again.

    « 2 nights stay »

Booked for 2 nights B&B . Lift out of order information given when booking in ! We were put on the top floor with our room being the one at the far end of the stairs. I asked when the lift would be fixed and was informed next week , I reviewed on line comments of the hotel on my return and it appears the lift has been unavailable for 1 month . Decided just to get on with it and restrict stair climbing to a minimum by planning.

« Not the Best Western »

Don't get carried away - this has the Best Western tag but according to the signs at reception it is privately owned. No lift for the three days I was there. Given a key on arrival - up to first floor via stairs, no offer of help with luggage - to find key didn't work, back to reception to be given an entry card. I was told that it wouldn't work after the first night so I had to get it reloaded second day. Bar food on first night good - had to have it delivered to my room on my last night as "there is a function in the bar.? Breakfast was an experience - bulk cooked food so if you go down late, as I did on first two days, it is barely warm. And even though breakfast is served til 9.30 (later on Saturday) the breakfast staff appeared far from happy that I had left it so late. It was obviously a problem for them - on the last day I was much earlier as I needed to get on the road - and the lady made a comment about being early. The food wasn't much different on that day, it's the usual scenario of people thinking that by providing hot plates it will make warm food hot!! It doesn't!! The room wasn't made up on one day - the maid tried to come in whilst i was in shower at 9, far too early. Went away, when I left the room I put the "make up my room" sign but it never happened. Bed was comfortable, and a decent size as was bathroom. The shower was a mixer attached to the taps ? no thermostat control and extremely difficult to get the temperature right, just a small turn of the hot brings out scalding water. Fairly clean BUT ? take a look at the photos from the bathroom, obviously whoever decorated this must have got fed up before the job was finished and bodged it. I think this place has potential but is clearly in desperate need of management.

    « Time for a refurbishment »

Our employees stayed here for one night as the Premier Inn was full. Very dissatisfied. Hotel is still in the 60/70s era. Needs a complete refit. Rooms are very tired and worn, same with the bar area. Rooms were clean, breakfast was ok. No wonder the rooms were very cheap, but certainly not cheerful

    « Poor accomodation »

The foyer was excellently furnished. It put a smile on my face and was looking forward to going to our rooms. The lighting in room was dingy, bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress was lumpy. I think it was very old. Every time I turned in the bed I thought I was going to fall off the bed. Not enough toilet roll even on the first day. I had to ask for more. In the other room the lighting was even worse than the first room. We could hardly see anything. The TV was not working. After complaining several times, we were given a new TV next evening.

    « Comfortable! 3 star. »

Stayed here for 3 nights as a couple me and my girlfriend got our room no problems. Our room was very clean and tidy but there was a pungent smell of what seemed to be urine. The cleaner didn't clean the room in the morning but that was probably because we didn't have the sign in our room to hang on the door to say 'please clean my room'. Neighbours are all very close together so if you could get noises at night. Apart from this though, nice and clean & tidy rooms, very comfy beds, nice free view telly, nice decor and furniture, we found service at reception very helpful, polite and professional. Good value for money

    « needs soundproofing »

the hotel itself is decorated very nicely and the room is perfectly acceptable for a 3 star hotel, also the water pressure for shower and running bath is very good. lots of parking available and the bed is comfy and room cheap at £44. however that's the good points over, DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ARE A VERY VERY SOUND SLEEPER unfortunately I would not stay again as this hotel has no soundproofing what so ever you can hear everything and I mean everything!. throughout my stay i could hear every step the people in the room above made, every person who walked down the corridor, toilets flushing, baths running, snoring, coughing etc.., tv from rooms both sides of us and above. also music in function room went on to 00.30 struggled to hear our tv over the music and our room was the other end of the hotel!! I dread to think how bad it would of been in the rooms directly above the function room. also if you have any walking problems the lift was not working and its couple of steps to reception (no Slope for suitcase) we were fine with this but my parents would have struggled had they visited so thought worn a mention. also would not advise stay with children as you can hear the "jiggy jiggy" from neighbouring rooms we awoken at around 0430 for 20 mins just when we thought the night couldn't get any worse!! oh and had to wait 15 mins just to checkin as no staff around reception at all, no bell to press, we had to interrupt wedding party just to find a staff member.

I have stayed here before and although not the best it was comfortable and close to where I was working on Business trip. first had to wait for 15/20 min before someone turned up at reception, and looked surprised to see a customer was how I could describe the encounter. tonight however the room/bed so far is comfortable but the chair is unsafe and it has supposed to have been refurbished but apart from the bathroom floor I don't see anything else changed from previous stays? tired and poor maintenance some lights not working in room. the worst thing tonight is the restaurant service shockingly BAD! one young lad hadn't got a flaming clue what he was doing and the only member of staff was a lad that joined in once s*it hit the fan with orders, no-one had told customers john smiths was going to be a long long wait over 20 mins, food service was also BAD! again very slow and food poor my Salmon was hot but the rice and veg cold, the Crumble was hot but barely a spoonful for the price, there was a guy wandering about with a yellow tie on who I had seen behind the bar earlier I took to be a manager of some description going by the attire but he hadn't got a clue either and didn't do much at all to help the young staff sort things out very poor organisation and no leadership from what I could see. there was plenty of people unhappy and complaining tonight. no-one really apologised for the delay or even checked back to see if everything was OK, I have worked in the service industry for over 30 years and this has to one of the worst I have seen in terms of service and lack of customer care, I will be making sure the company do not put me in here again this is the last time, all my colleagues have gone to other hotels all of whom have stayed here before so i'll be doing the same. if you don't mind slumming it then this place is for you it has gone down hill which is the great shame.

    « Not brilliant »

We recently went to a family wedding here, although my neice looked beautiful on her big day, unfortunately the hotel left a lot to be desired. The windows were filthy, I'd have thought someone could have cleaned them in the ceremony room, I was tempted to write "just married" on the dirt. The inside of the lobby was very dusty, & the toilets were a state. & don't get me started on the bar service. They wanted £2 for half of lime & soda water. Im just glad I didn't decide to stay overnight.

« Good, comfy bed if a little noisy overnight »

We stayed here as part of a travel excursion with National Express. My friend and I were in a very large bedroom, overlooking the rear carpark. First impressions, room very tidy- a little dusty on top of mirrors etc and the bathroom could have done with a deep clean, as there were limescale marks around the toilet and in the bath. The hairdryer was fixed in a drawer unit, away from suitable power sockets and mirrors, so we had to move the whole unit to where it made more sense. We had dinner, which was pleasant enough an certainly plentiful- the chicken Caesar salad could have been served as a main meal, there was so much. Overnight, there was a lot of noise from the fan/heater units outside of the window so I had to get up and close all windows so that I could catch some sleep, but the bed was very springy and comfortable
