« Second visit to this Hotel »

We have been here before it was most pleasant, friendly staff made our stay even better, good food, good service, smiles all round. This is our second visit and the situation is exactly the same, happy friendly staff, good service, good food, etc. But although the room was clean, There was a terrible smell from the sewer in our room 136, this did spoil our visit some, but we would stay again but would make sure we had a different room, it is to do with the tides apparently. Wifi was great once we found out how to get onto it, not really explained in the welcome pack,it is iCloud and you have to either register or sign in if you already have an account, as it looks like you have wifi on your screen but does not work properly until your signed up and signed in, then it's great and fast for shared internet. The decor is of the 1912 era oak panels and all but it has character, and some good views of the golf coarse and the wind farm out to sea. The staff make this hotel friendly and great to visit.

    « A bit of faded glory!! »

The hotel is located on the Golf Course which adds some good views and atmosphere but there is a sense of "faded glory" about the building and facilities in and around them hotel. The bar food was good and the drinks selection OK but the bar staff could do with a bit of smartening up.

« A second most pleasant and enjoyable stay ) »

Delightful situation - even the wind farm has its attractions in the ever changing light - splendid, well frequented golf course - alas, I never ever managed to have a handicap, 36+++... - and most of all the hotel itself: warmly welcoming, staff all polite, friendly and helpful, excellent restaurant and very reasonable, rooms comfortable with all one might expect for a restorative, restful stay.

« Best Western North Shore Hotel & Golf Club - Skegness »

Hotel is located on a Golf Course, location is good with great views over the golf course. Inside of the hotel is a little tired looking but this I expected as its an old building. The staff were friendly and keen to help and I did enjoy a good nights sleep. The WiFi in the room had no connection. Overall I would stay here again if I was here on business.

« A very nice place to stay »

My wife and i stayed here this week and found it very nice. It is a bit tired and dated and could do with some sprucing up a bit but it was clean, the staff were friendly, and the food was plentiful and tasty. It was perfect for the golf and our room (123) overlooked the 9th and 1st which was lovely to wake up to. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were fine. Would we come back here ?, yes.

    « satisfied customer »

I would recommend this hotel. Two minutes from the beach. Lovely views over the golf course from our room. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. We chose to eat in the restaurant in the evening and were not disappointed. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

    « Chilling weekend »

Having read all the reviess for this hotel I booked ..we arrived early knowing that check in was 2 o'clock I thought we might have been lucky and our room would be available but alas it wasn't even though the receptionist didn't check so we went into the town which wasn't a problem .we arrived back at the hotel around 5 o'clock to check in only to find we wasn't actually staying in the main hotel but the lodge which was down the drive the lodge had three rooms in it ..the room it's self was ok two single beds joined together to make a king it was actually very comfortable but the room itself was quite dated ..we decided to have food in the hotel only a snack so we ordered sandwiches ,we were disappointed though because when they arrived the bread was very dry so we just ate the filling and left the bread ! We had breakfast included in our package and can say it was delicious and the staff were great too..I went to check out and was charged incorrectly I had booked through an independent travel co and had forgotten to.take my booking info so I had to pay 20 more ..Having said that if we was guaranteed a room in the main hotel we would return.

« Big traditional hotel very near to beach »

A solid, traditional hotel in a pleasant residential area on the north side of Skegness, about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The hotel is attached to a golf course but welcomes non-golfers like us. Rooms are comfortable, clean and of good size. The area is very quiet at night. Friendly and helpful service from the staff. Ample parking space. The fine, wide sandy beach is literally a couple of minutes' walk away. What a pity that the view out to sea is spoilt by a vast panoply of hideous wind turbines - increasingly common along our coastline, sadly. We stayed one night and had an excellent fish and chips dinner in the well-stocked bar. One slight disappointment - wifi is advertised as available but we had trouble getting a signal. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

« Been coming here for years now recentley had new manager who doesn't care »

seen many changes and not for the better. This time was no different they have lost very good reception staff. But this was one of the worst experiences I have had. I was playing in the golf competition on the Tuesday ,I received 3 missed calls one with an answer phone message which I did not read till later .On leaving the course the assistant pro said in front of lots of people that I had not paid my bill when I checked out.I informed him I did not check out until Friday morning.I was not happy about this and when straight to reception to see why this had happened.

    « Another happy golfer »

Enjoyed 3 days golf at North Shore in hot glorious September weather. Course is a mix of say 6 links holes and 12 parkland and in good condition. Th greens were very good and quick. The Hotel provided excellent breakfasts twice the size of some I have eaten. The bar service was quick and pleasant and the staff generally were well above average. Pretty good choice of evening meal which were also very good. The hotel is old but provides really good value and i will be going there again for golf.

« A few days in the sun »

We have just spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful. My wife is confined to a wheelchair but thanks to the great team at this hotel our stay was a very pleasant one. The food and the ale are are excellent. Its a very short walk to the beach and its an easy walk to the town even when pushing a wheelchair.

« Stay at Best Western, Skegness »

I would recommend this hotel, the only drawback, although I am not complaining as we had a fabulous double room, was that it was very noisy in the early hours of the morning with vehicles arriving emptying glass bottle banks and rubbish. We were located in a room overlooking the car park. I do also think that your disabled parking facilities at the hotel are not very good at all, but bearing in mind it is a golf club I suppose that is to be expected.

« Annual golfing weekend Away. »

Our group visited this course for a Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday weekend away. The course is very good , as mentioned part links & part parkland. Could do with better signage though, but the greens and fairways where in excellent condition. The food was very good, but the hotel is looking tired, my room had been renovate though, so work is being done. Good pro shop and not to far to walk into skeggy for some evening entertainment . The members though where not the friendliest we have encountered in our 16 years of weekends away. Overall , not bad, most of the staff where great, especially the night bar man on the Saturday who continued to serve us.,Friday nights though barked " bars shut!" As we walked in at 1am !! Overall, worth the money we paid. Enjoy ??

« staff attitude and lack of interest by manager »

I have been going to this hotel for about 20 years and seen many changes and not for the better. I was "!greeted" by Danielle .I asked her why she had called she again rudely informed me I had not paid .I told her that I did not check out until Friday and would pay for all the rooms in my name then. She said that when the guest other room in my name left she was expecting payment.I said if she had bothered to check she would have seen I was still in the hotel she became very loud and an older lady with frizzie hair also had to get involved. I left the reception unhappy that I received no apology . The next day I saw the manager and told him what had happened he had absolutely no interest and virtually ignored my comments..On checking out I was asked if I enjoyed my stay.I went through it all again and also mentioned a few problems we had had with room cleaning.I was asked why I did not mention it earlier. My reply to this was "what is the point when no one especially the manager are interested or all just give excuses and stick up for each other." On the plus side most of the bar staff are polite and efficient especially the manager Dan. Restaurant staff were also good as usual and Marius is excellent .Breakfast is also very good and well presented DENNIS HASLAM ,BARNSLEY

« Good value, good golf and good food »

Stayed here many times for annual golf gig. Rooms have been updated and bathrooms renewed which is a great improvement. Rooms can be very hot though and some are more spacious than others. Food is good and plentiful, with good choices at breakfast. Service can be hit and miss in the bar. Golf is good, part links and part parkland. Offers excellent value for money for golf breaks.

    « Wedding anniversary 4th sept »

Booked a specific table for 7 pm to celebrate our wedding anniversary on 4th September only to find the table already being used by others in the middle of their meal and having a wonderful time.As most of the other tables were taken we went into the conservatory (not very happy) and ordered a drink but finding that the conservatory was draughty and quite cold we drank up and left. Many thanks to Jason for ensuring we had a night to remember (for the wrong reasons of course)

« Such good value for money »

We have just returned from a night stay at the North Shore. This hotel is such good value for money. This is not a swish posh hotel but is a wonderful hotel, very welcoming, good food and comfy clean rooms with great beds and bedding. Wish there was a hotel like this in every town/city. Fab! Will visit again.

« Perfect for our bank holiday family wedding »

Stayed for 3 nights and would loved to have stayed longer. Terrific but peaceful location right on the beach and next to the beautiful golf course. Food was great and good value. Staff friendly and helpful - especially Danielle on Reception and Tony in the Bar. The room and bed were very comfortable and we had a lovely sea view. Tea and coffee-making in the room also included hot chocolate and bottled water, which were much appreciated. Hairdryer was provided in the room and the en suite bathroom was perfect. To all the staff at the hotel - thanks for everything. Our family wedding will be remembered for years to come!

« Lovely Hotel overlooking the sea »

Went for a 2 night break and was not disappointed the hotel itself was very clean the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. We were room only but you can get a breakfast in the main bar area after 10 o clock so wasn't a problem for us.

« Surprisingly good golf break »

We booked this hotel as a buy a gift golf break & when reading other reviews on T A we weren't expecting much, but we were so pleasantly surprised. Yes, the building is rather dated, but the best is made of what it is. The staff were lovely our room was large enough, flooded with light, comfortably bed, lovely towels & sheets. Food at dinners and breakfast was plentiful, well cooked & nicely served. The golf course was not the best I have played, but very well maintained & lovely to be near the sea. All in all it was a very pleasant break. It deserves 5* in my opinion.

« Great stay, great staff, great overall . Can't fault it! »

This links hotel and Golf Club sets itself up as a three star and far surpasses that standard in almost every aspect - that's why it gets 5 blobs. We stayed one night on the golf package as a Christmas present (2015) from our daughter and son in law - great value as we had only paid half! But even at the full buy a gift cost of £149 for DBBB for two and two rounds of golf each it is fantastic value. All the staff are really friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant at dinner was not stilted on portion size and served hot, fresh, and swiftly - and very succulent it was too. Breakfast was also freshly cooked, no canned mushrooms here, (my acid test..) and the poached haddock (2 each) was lovely and cooked to perfection. Rooms are typical of a three star in size and decor, although we had a larger than average en suite with bath and shower over and a lovely view over the golf course. Good king size double bed clean and very comfy. So, no complaints there then. Golf pro very helpful in sorting tee times out and being flexible. The course is a mix of links and parkland with well kept, very fast greens. The first nine are a good skill mix and fun, not too challenging although you need to keep straight to stay on the fairway, the back nine are mostly fast running links and quite challenging with quite a few with blind greens and others with tee areas requiring a well lofted shot to clear the undergrowth before reaching the fairway. Overall, though, good enjoyable fun... Location is north of Skegness, in a quiet residential area about 50 yards from the beach and a 15 - 20 minute walk along the beach / path into Skeggy if the urge takes you... As I said in the title, can't fault it. Great deal, with lovely friendly helpful people, great food and a comfortable hotel and accommodation. I recommend it. Hope this helps inform you of what to expect and that you have as enjoyable a time as we have just had.

    « A break by the Sea. »

A nice Hotel with friendly Staff and a pleasant Bar to relax and watch the golfers from. Food was of a very good quality and very well presented. The room We stayed in was well laid out with a fully tuned and working TV and good Wifi access. Beds were comfortable and clean and there were plenty of towels. Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate were in good supply along with a nice clean kettle. The only down side is the lack of suitable disabled parking, the car park is about 100yds or so from the rear entrance but the closet parking spots are occupied by Golf Club Members Only, add to this that it is uphill from the car park to the door and it is quite a struggle for the less able. There is a parking area by the front reception but although this has a disabled access door, it is clearly signed that your car will be hit by golf balls if you park there, and again no disabled Spaces.

    « Clean & polite staff »

We only booked a week before for our overnight stay in Skegness. The hotel is very impressive as you drive upto it. It's a very pleasant 10 min walk from the centre of town. You can either take the beach path or go along the main street. The receptionist was lovely and polite and very helpful. The room was clean as were the towels and bedding. We did not eat at the hotel but the carvery on Sunday looked and smelled amazing. Very happy. Would definitely recommend this place.

« Acceptable but average and dated »

Whatever you do, do not book 109. It is right above the kitchen which means the drone of air conditioners and extractor fans pretty much outside your windows which I had to shut to lessen the noise. Room was ok but not worth the £56 with no breakfast. Nice bar and reasonably priced food. Nice view of the golf course so this hotel is probably great for golfers.

    « "Memories " »

We used to stay at this hotel 5/6 times a year during my golfing days, which ended about fifteen years ago,so a nostalgic visit was in order. The hotel itself is well worth a visit, the room was clean and tidy, the food was superb,(if you eat all your given, you must be an Olympic eating champion) the location is marvellous, the staff are brilliant, the value for money is great,no wonder when we tried to book another couple of nights the hotel was full.

    « worth a game of golf »

Northshore is a nice course, its presented well, it has a nice feel to the place and the golf is good, a good combination of challenging holes. its a nice club house and the service seems well, not sure what the rooms are like to stay but the facilities all look well, great place to get some memories and the added plus its right next to the beach so if you were going to stay you'll get some lovely walks.

    « Worst experience ever »

Stayed in this dated hotel last weekend for the weekend.Mix up with the rooms chaos in reception, rude staff in reception ,bar closed at 1.45 even though we were residents and was told it would be open all night.Needs renovating ,carpet by back door is a health hazard with more lumps than porridge ,can't believe Best western put their name to this sham of a hotel ,don't bother I say

« Lovely people good location »

Stopped with my partner and daughter and it was lovely. Clean and comfortable and the staff was lovely very friendly to my little girl. The food was beautiful and decently priced. The location is ideal for getting to skegness front. I'd recommend to anyone.

« Golf Club or hotel, which is it? »

Attractive setting and nice views of golf course from bar. Bit distant from main attractions. Family room booking via was not recognised in their booking system, though they honoured it. Bathroom did not seem to be cleaned during our 3 days stay. Public areas and corridors etc looking quite tired. Luggage has to be dragged up steps and no help was offered on check-in or check-out. Seems to me it makes more money from and is more focussed on the golf course than it is on hotel guests, though it was reasonable value for money. The staff did show some care in assisting my disabled wife and I must say the breakfast was really first class.

    « great nights sleep !!! »

one night stay.. slept like a log,, good clean room ,, comfy bed,,, breakfast included.. all good.. would stay longer if needed to,,, 10/10 close to town center.and beach. and all the arcades but far away enough not to be noisy,,

« Just as you would expect »

Slightly dated carpets but very clean, bright, welcoming and friendly. Spectacular views of the immaculate golf course and theses beyond. Room - a twin for my daughter and I, small but had everything you could want or need and again super clean, as was the bathroom. Toiletries and tea/coffee/ water provided. Comfy beds. Only had a drink in the bar but pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was fabulous with a choice of so many hot items freshly cooked to order, along with buffet items - too many to list! Something for everyone! Gorgeous dining room and the staff attentive. This is a golf hotel and has lots of memorabilia to look at. 15 mins walk from town centre.

« nice pleasant hotel in Lincolnshire »

pleasant relaxing hotel recommended very near a beach and a golf course nice atmosphere will let you forget you are there for work. i will came back in the near future and bring my whole family . thanks

    « Golfing weekend »

I played this very good links/parkland course on june 19/20 2016' myself and eleven guys played the sunday driver.Which consists of golf ,evening meal ,hotel accommodation ,breakfast, and a 2nd round of golf. The course was in EXCELLENT condition, the food was terrific .The bedrooms were also of good standards alll the staff were friendly and helpful. We have been doing this kind of weekend for 10 consecutive years, all agreed this was one of the best. Well done Best western.

« Visited At The Weekend »

My husband played golf here at the weekend. The food was excellent with really large portions. It was also very reasonably priced. My husband ( I am a non-golfer myself) said that the greens were fast, but that the fairway was a little tired in places, but he found it very enjoyable, and said that the overall, the course was very good, and if given the opportunity would gladly play the course again, with some very interesting and challenging holes, of which some were blind into the green (hope this means something to the golfers (personally I am a Formula 1 fan (LOL))).

« Excellent value for money. »

Stayed one night, didn't play the golf course because we were already booked into Seacroft. Excellent value for money. Ate in the bar, ordered fish and chips, didn't expect to get a whale ????. Huge and absolutely beautiful. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely room, slightly dated but hey ho at the price you couldn't fault it. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. There are other hotels closer to where we were playing golf, but we would rather stay somewhere we like, and maybe next time we'll even getbtomplay their course. It looked wonderful.

« Golf Course with a hotel on it rather than hotel with a golf course »

Probably ok if you are a (male) golfer. We found it disappointing as we had hoped for a bit more than this in terms of the hotel accommodation having stayed in a number of Best Western hotels before. The room was average standard in terms of size but housekeeping was poor - mould in the bathroom, curtains hanging off the rail and couldn't be closed, bed wasn't tidied during our four night stay - just the cover pulled up, towels not hung up properly, at one point I had to go to reception to request toilet roll and bath mat as these had not been provided. This was quickly resolved, but our request for someone to fix the curtains was not. The food in the bar was just ok but the atmosphere was dominated by groups of loud men and/or what seemed to be the local radio station. It's about a 10 - 15 minute walk to anywhere else to eat, a good 20 minutes to Skegness town. There is a bus service at the end of the road. There is plenty of free parking on site. Breakfast was excellent - well cooked to order. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful enough but there was no sense of checking if things were ok . Go there if you are a golfer - the golf course looked lovely. Avoid it if not - there are better hotel experiences.

    « Skegness Weekend »

This is our 5th visit to this hotel - Rooms are adequate for the star rating, clean and well presented. Pricing is average plus, but location for us is more important. Dined in the bar with friends and (many golfers) where the food was of a good quality well presented and reasonably priced. Breakfast is always a rather "stand out" meal, with order taken at the table and served hot and tasty. Will probably be back when next in Skegness.

    « Three fellow golfers »

We travel around as much as possible on golfing weekends. This was a good deal with package and looked good on paper. Rooms were okay, standard but clean. Nice view of the golf course. Breakfast was good, but the golf was the thing we came for. Nice course, kept tidy and not too busy. Would come again.

« Gorgeous views of the golf course. »

Truly a gorgeous place.Very accommodating staff. Felt very welcome. Access to the beach was right there. In the morning we watched the deer and rabbits running through the golf course. A place that must be seen. A true diamond.

« Bar food and customer service dissapointment »

Ordered a bagett for lunch at a cost of £5.55 ordinary tuna melt. On arrival the bread appeared to feel and taste stale ,all we were left to eat was the tuna inside, the reaction of the member of staff to my comp!ain't was very laid back couldnt care less it appeared , no apology can we get you any thing else nothing. Mentioned to reception on the way out answer was go and ask for your money back. I feel I shouldn't have to it seems to me a course on customer care would not go amiss. Very poor from a hotel I have used many times. I had been considering booking a function but sadly will now have to consider alternatives.

    « Disappointed »

Went for a meal with my family on saturday 28th of may, for a best western hotel we were very disappointed. There was a group of golfers in the bar very loud and the language was shocking, the tall ginger lad that was behind the bar did ask them several times to stop swearing but obviously they didnt listen, I no in a bar your gonna get swearing but no as often as they was as i work in a bar myself. we sat down for a meal i had the steak and ale pie which was not a pie it was a bowl of meat with a puff pastry lid, the chips had been reheated atleast once, there was also a young blonde girl working behind the bar who after her shift stayed for a drink, she was sat with another yound girl with brown hair i dont no if she worked here but she was in similar uniform. The brown haired lady was very loud shouting and swearing i couldnt believe it, all i no is i definatly will never be returning to north shore hotel, the only positive i could take out of this is the service was fast and the tall bloke who served me was very polite.

    « A Disappointing Experience. »

I booked a Family room and a double room at this hotel for 2 nights, 20th - 22nd May. At this moment in time I would neither repeat or recommend the experience. I don't like writing negative reviews on places I've visited, but if it had not been for the sheer professionalism and understanding of Suzanne ( assist manager I believe ) then this would be exactly that. Having booked through Booking.Com the Check In was smooth and painless. The receptionist both friendly and helpful. The rooms unfortunately we're a different matter. The family room had a selection of food debris under the bed, a bath that needed cleaning before use and the tea/coffee facilities non existent. The double room was better although you could actually write your name in the dust on bedside tables and chairs. We had a family meal in the hotel on the Saturday evening which was disgraceful. Wrong meals and an attitude problem from the staff. Our orders were clearly visible on the till receipts but the staff not only got them wrong, they tried to blame our party and showed it with their attitude of literally throwing our meals on the table and being totally lacking in any sort of customer service. In the end things were sorted by the very professional Suzanne but our weekend break was a little bit soured.

« Best carvery lunch we've had by far »

Visited for Sunday lunch as a birthday surprise as recommended by a friend. Absolutely delicious starters and carvery though we couldn't manage a dessert, friendly & helpful staff, access for those with mobility problems not clearly signed from the main car park but sorted on departure. Would recommend and will definitely return.

    « Brief overnight stay »

Hotel Room was a good size with a very comfy bed, decor looking tired with very squeaky floorboards in our room 130 and above which kept us awake. The main meals in the bar restaurant were OK apart from the vegetables which were poor and under cooked, Having stayed in a Best Western before in another part of Skegness we were disappointed with the North Shore Golf Hotel, however the staff were very helpful and welcoming.

    « Lovely friendly hotel »

We stayed for 2 nights with our 5 yr old and we loved every minute. Firstly it's a great location it is very close to many things you might want to do in Skegness (Butlins was our main reason for going and it is about 7 minutes by car) The car park is very big and we never had any trouble parking. The hotel is very close to the beach which was especially good for us as our daughter loved that we could have a walk down to the sea after breakfast and Dinner. There is disabled access at the front of the building, but the steps to get to reception from the car park are steep. My husband really wished he had brought his golf clubs as the course looked great and well maintained (we could see the grounds man working on this daily) We didn't meet one member of staff that wasn't helpful. My daughter is often full of questions and wants to tell people about her day and they were always happy to listen to her and be excited with her. They even asked her follow up questions when we got back from trips we really felt like they went the extra mile. We had a lovely spacious family room, large double bed and a standard single bed. The breakfasts were great and i would highly recommend paying extra to have one here. The evening meal in the bar was very nice and reasonably priced and there is a childrens menu. If i had to give a bad point about the hotel it would be the bathroom as there was some mould in there, but it wasn't bad enough that i felt like i needed to complain. This is a really great family friendly hotel. We will return

« Looking forward to my next stay »

This place is an absolute gem, located in a quiet part of Skegness, located between the pier and Butlins and a hop skip and a jump the beach, seriously its 150 steps from the beach. We stayed 2 nights, we had a family room, which overlooked the golf course on the west side of the hotel, which is an amazing view at dusk, the room was spacious, well furnished, the beds were the most comfortable thing i have slept on. The room was well decorated in a traditional style, the hotel is a period building and decorated to match, it has warm wood pannels and leather chairs, hidden LED lights and modern decor would just look silly, that said it still had everything you need if you were here on business or if like us you cant live without a decent wifi connection. The staff were all very friendly, efficient and relaxed, we were staying with our 5 year old daughter and she was made to feel very welcome, the breakfast waitress remembered her preference from the previous day the receptionists always took time to talk to her and ask.what she had been and more importantly remembered from the previous day. We ate breakfast twice and evening meal once, all.the food was of fantastic quality, prepared and delivered promptly and was always correct, the chef managed to achive the impossible and cooked my steak medium, this may sound silly but medium seems to be an impossible task for most restaurants i have eaten in Yorkshire.. The hotel has a significant amount of parking spaces, which for a seaside town is a rarity. And if you play golf its got an impressive 18 hole golf course attached. Its fairly priced, its not cheap but its also not that expensive, you could rent a caravan on the sprawling camp sites that stretch for miles in this area or you could stay in a beachside hotel with excellent facilities and wonderful food for a bit more.

« Potential to be good »

Arrived and had to wait for Receptionist to come off the phone. Someone else eventually came to assist, but lacked customer approach, not even a "hello" Receptionist eventually took over, but service not that much better. Bedroom spacious and good décor. Had a family room. Bathroom good décor, but poor water pressure and shower very much lacked power. Breakfast good - buffet but cooked breakfast to order. Hive of activity with golf, but then the hotel is on a golf course and actually gave the place good life. Noisy night with guests returning to their rooms at 2am and 4am. One couple arguing - but that's the clientele, rather than hotel. Hotel has great potential, but really must focus on customer service, particularly at Reception - "the first two minutes create the impression"

« Oh to see the sea! »

Steps up to main door a bit steep and not easily managed with a heavy bag, I think as there is talk of refurbishment there is an issue here, how do disabled folk cope? First impressions were tired decor and furnishings and under furnished downstair rooms not cozy! Pleasant receptionist directed to room, MORE steps, single room above kitchen continual drone from I guess extractor fan and very small room with no view, didn't expect the sea view but was a bit claustrophobic especially as windows were too high to reach to open, certainly wouldn't stay in the summer! Bed comfortable and bedding clean, quilt could have been bigger. Staff pleasant and breakfast and service very good. Easy access to beach.

    « Saddlers society »

Just returned from our annual weekend of golf by the sea Only complaint was some of the 10 rooms we had were a little small and view was of the yard, however, not all rooms can face the sea. Very clean hotel, all staff both hotel and golf areas were helpful. I know they have some new staff recently, but they have been good. Golf course was in great nick, we played it 3 times while here, and the changing winds made it different each day. We had the deal of £229 for 3 golf & 2 nights BB&Ev meals When it comes to the food for both breakfast and evening meals ( 3 courses) it was the best we have experienced in the 15 years we have been doing this. From choice/presentation/amount all perfect. In summary I highly recommend for a relaxing all in fuss free golf society weekend .

    « OK for a passing visit »

Booked a room at short notice. Large comfortable bed in a light and airy room.Very tired decor with hems of curtains hanging down. Houskeeping could have been better with a full sanitary bin on arrival and very dusty TV remote. Not told how to access WiFi or when meal times were and there was nothing in the room to tell you. Bar food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good with very attentive and friendly service (mind you we were the only ones there!)

« Pick up of passengers from Skegness »

This was my third visit to this hotel and had a very good room with all facilities in working order. Also had a good view of the sea as my room was at the back of hotel which faces the sea.Esy walk to beach

    « Good »

Ideal location - an oldish hotel - rooms can be small - booked a double and got a twin bedded room - Breakfast great - if you play golf then an ideal place to stay - bar and bar meals are fine - if raining TV has only free view so not many channels to watch

« abortive visit to dine. »

we rang the hotel to book a meal in the evening,on arrival we went to reception to inquire where to go and also to see a menu for the restaurant. this was obviosly a major problem as nobody new what it was or where to get one from, finally after approx:ten minutes we walked out totally disgusted and found another restaurant in town. (what a setup). date was thursday march the 24/th

    « Disappointed »

For a Best Western this hotel left me disappointed. Upon arrival the staff had no idea what they were doing and didn't even know the location of the room (Room 131). We asked for a taxi to be booked when we checked in for later that evening. 20 minutes after the arranged collection time still no taxi. We asked again several times. It transpires that the taxi had been several times and had been turned away by reception staff, despite it being the same staff that had done the booking. The room itself was clean, although the bins had not been emptied. It was dated and was cold on arrival with no heating on and the windows open. Given it was approx 7 degrees I would have expected this to be on. We sorted the heating and got ready for our evening out. The shower was a trickle and the batch showed terrible signs of wear. When we returned we had a drink in the bar then went to our room. When we got back to the room it was freezing and we found the heating had been turned off. Given it was about 4 degrees outside by this point (in March) I was not impressed. I think the heating eventually came on about 4am. At £76 it was not a cheap stay for a room only basis and I was not impressed at all. I wouldn't visit again and to be honest I'd even be hard pushed to use a Best Western again after this visit

« Ideal location, hotel tired »

Location was excellent for access to all amenities, rooms were very tired, very small bathroom in room 130, large comfortable bed, curtains hanging off the curtain track. Excellent staff, frindly and helpful, very welcoming. The hotel is in need of a refurbishment.

« Spoiled by the noise. »

The hotel staff were polite and the room was fine until I was disturbed at 4:50 a.m. by a loud droning noise which did't stop. After 20 minutes I went to reception and was told by the night manager that the noise was being caused by essential equipment which could not be switched off. He offered me ear plugs which I accepted and returned to bed. The reception staff in the morning said that they weren't aware of this and that it was the first time they'd heard of the problem. Nothing more than an apology was offered. This had a significant impact on the quality of my stay, but that fact didn't appear to be recognised by the staff at this hotel. Also; I am not convinced that the staff weren't aware of the problem.

« great location great food »

loved it ere we did late deal room was great also a indian resturant on site and grill , we will b stayinge re again big garden m they do tributes nights too breki was lovely people very nice , indian food was lovely we orderd to much as normal ,,, ad agreat night sleep smoking area too and the sun was out wat was great , not far to beach and shops train station 10 mins away

    « Step back into the 1980s »

Wasn't overly impressed with this hotel. Very much feels like the place that time forgot. If you're a fan of outdated decor however, you'll love this place. Check-in was fast but abrupt and offered no useful information about the hotel (wifi, breakfast times etc). The room itself was spacious albeit dated. Wood panelling and curtains you remember from your childhood didn't make for an overly pleasant environment. The bathroom was surprisingly small (considering the size of the room) and the bath had red stains in it which you could mistake for blood (though I suspect it wasn't blood). Scuff marks were visible all over the walls and the 'art work' didn't quite fit. The bed however was extremely comfortable albeit looked liked someone had used it as a trampoline before I arrived. Didn't eat dinner or use the bar in the hotel and the breakfast was mediocre. Wouldn't hurry back here to be honest. There are plenty of alternatives in Skegness which I'm confident some of which would be far better.

« Weekend stay for my nieces wedding reception »

Had a lovely stay, room was excellent, location was ideal, prices were very reasonable staff were friendly welcoming efficient and helpful. Wedding reception was an overall success. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

    « Lovely Sunday lunch »

This is a lovely table served Sunday lunch at a reasonable price, good quality meat and veg, nice polite staff ( a little dated and in need of some tlc ) don't be put off thinking its full of loud golfers eating after a round as its not, it is busy but also had a bar with bar menu ( again with polite and helpful staff ) had a nice experience thank you

    « Lovely »

Booked 3 rooms for mums 80th birthday. Staff are what make this place, all very helpful and looked after us. Check in and out was very smooth. The hotel has a very relaxed friendly feel with lovely grounds. Big thanks to the waitress that served us for dinner and breakfast, she really looked after us and made an extra effort with mum, making her birthday special, she even burnt her finger on a dud candle on mums birthday cake trying her best to light it! My 2 nephews were staying in a bed and breakfast nearby and they were made to feel welcome too. Some rooms are a little dated but I find most seaside hotels are. Beds were comfy. Rooms are very clean and have everything you may need during your stay. Tea/coffee/water provided in rooms along with toiletries. Plenty of parking spaces for guests. Reasonable bar prices and food is excellent with a good menu, was very busy this weekend as there was a wedding on but staff just worked extra hard to make things run smoothly. Would definitely recommend this hotel. And from what the guys who were playing golf were saying it sounds like it's perfect for a golfing trip too. See you again soon!

    « Another Enjoyable Stay »

Just spent another very enjoyable night at the North Shore hotel in Skegness. Friendly and helpful staff, nice bar, great breakfast and nice room overlooking the dunes and the sea. Will definitely stay again when in Skegness and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good quality accommodation at a reasonable price.

    « Family birthday »

We hired a conservatory room for my Grandmas 90th birthday. When we arrived the room was nicely laid out with beautiful views. It was lovely and light and very inviting. We decorated the room with bunting and balloons and waited in the adjoining lounge area for my Grandma to arrive. It was lovely to have two private rooms to ourselves as there was 25 of us. We all had the carvery which was nice but not amazing. The service was excellent and everyone enjoyed the day. I can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay over. My only criticism is that the hotel is dated but other than that it was a great day had by all.

    « On business »

I was working in Boston and booked this Hotel with a colleague for two nights. On arrival there was plenty of room to park and the reception carried out a swift check in. The receptionist informed us that we were room only and we were a little surprised by this and asked for it to be added, she said she would. The next morning we we arrived for breakfast we were abruptly told we were room only but she would have to add it to our room. That night we returned for our second night to find neither of our rooms had been serviced. We spoke to reception to complaint. We also showed the booking confirmation that detailed we had booked bed and breakfast... an apology was then given. Overall. The hotel is tired but offered good value for money and the breakfast was very good but the level of customer service throughtout the stay was poor.

« Rooms not serviced and booking incorrect »

Stayed here two nights with a work colleague. Upon check in we were told it was room only so we asked for breakfast to be added. At breakfast the next morning we were told it was still room only in our booking? Had to go to reception again to get it changed. Re checked our email of confirmation and found it said breakfast was included on both rooms! Rooms were not serviced at all during our stay and arrived back from a day's work to find my wet towels from the morning still there, bins not emptied etc. Complained to reception but they could offer no explanation why both our rooms had not been serviced when the web site clearly states "daily housekeeping". Unlikely to return.

    « Memorable golfing experience »

Never been to Skegness before so this was a fresh experience leaving us pleasantly surprised and glad we chose this venue. The golf course was deceptively challenging and in good shape considering the time of year. The weather was beautiful which was an added bonus. The hotel provided good honest quality food and lodging at a fair price with faultless service and a nice relaxing ambience. What was not to like?

    « Mrs deley »

Just got back home from a night stay at north shore, made welcome soon as we walked through the doors.staff was very friendly bar staff was very friendly to ,food was very good, rooms were very clean and warm,in a word exhalent definitely would go back.

« Not so good in the lodge »

Booked the hotel for Valentine's night , was put in the lodge , it was very cold , they gave us 2 heaters to plug in , lovely and warm in the morning. They did reduce the bill , food in the bar was only average not homemade.

    « Stress free »

The most relaxed and stress free stay in a hotel I have ever experienced. I loved the place and look forward to returning for a short holiday in the summer. The staff are so efficient and friendly, without being intrusive and getting a room with a sea view was great - not easy on this part of the coast with the sea defences.

« Sleepless first night due to noise! »

Stayed for 2 nights whilst on business in Skegness. I stayed in room 108 which was situated above the bar. I was constantly disturbed from noise coming from the bar and the constant banging of a reception and bar door.I did not manage to get to sleep until 3am. I spoke to reception staff who acknowledged the problem and I moved rooms, The next night was fine. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts very good as was the service at breakfast. I have no doubt I would have rated this hotel higher if not for my first night experience.

    « Very nice hotel »

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. Nice food in evening and at breakfast. Nice comfortable room. Good location from town centre. Right on the beach. Excellent WiFi. Nice curry madras in the evening. Very reasonable priced food.

    « New Year stay + golf »

Stayed just on New Year's Eve for dinner dance evening, but arrived earlier in day so as to get in a game of golf too. Course a little muddy (surprising as we assumed it would be sand based and drain well), but lovely sunny day so enjoyed. Checked in before the game and room was available for us to drop off luggage and hang clothes, which was really helpful. Had room 132, largest of the three, in the lodge (apart from main building, but only a very short walk up drive) and were able to park outside, however at the risk of being hit by a stray golf ball as right next to 9th green! Bath towels very really large, do like that, room quite spacious, I think possibly accommodates a 3rd bed. Food very good and NYE entertainment good.

« Again great value for a Golfing Sunday Driver !! »

Another year at this hotel ( 16 yrs now ) with the same 6 lads and we keep coming back because : 1) Excellent golf course, well maintained and always open with proper greens. Half Links and park land. 2) Staff are the most friendly you'll find and I stay in a lot of hotels with business, all over the world ! 3) The food is excellent !!! we had a very tasty evening meal on Sunday - excellent roasts, but there were other choices. The breakfast the next day was hearty. Help yourself to cereals and fruit, followed by a full English, or smoked Haddock with poached eggs ( a friend had this and he said it was so tasty !! ) 4) Bar food also very good value. 5) Only one downside a pint of guinness was £3.85, but it is a hotel and they all over charge for drinks lol. I suppose it's only a little more expensive than other places ( £3.50 ish ) 6) The rooms are very clean : beds, carpets, bathrooms - I'm particular about this and will slate it if it wasn't !! ROLL ON NEXT YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!! :))

    « Disappointed »

We was looking forward to going to this Hotel, we are a very regular Best Western Hotel visitor , but this one Disappointed us, we was told we was upgraded as we are a platinum card holder, so expected a bit better room, but not great, it was ok for a couple of nights, I took some friends so was a bit off for them, there room was ok 114 and ours was 115. Both rooms needed a good hoovering, no blind in the bathroom so everyone in the main car park could see you having a shower, bed was very noisy and small, was told I was getting a free paper, no paper arrived on Saturday morning, but what made up for it all was the staff, and food was lovely, great breakfast, great bar food and great value

« Characterfull and friendly but 'tire'd hotel »

Very friendly staff, but rather noisy golfing guests. Could do with a makeover but please leave the wood panelling ! Food service was quick and tebreakfast was very good. Vegetarian option was a good try (Cassuelo) but needs a bit more work

    « Christmas meal »

We had our Christmas meal at this venue. We had a carvery. All of the food was spot on. The venue was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Would recommend. The room we were in had a lovely large conservatory ideal for parties or weddings and there were lovely views too.

« The best hotel stay ever and we have stayed in a lot of Hotels. »

Great people in every part of the hotel from the reception to the bar and restaurant. Family room is superb with a separate single room on the side. The staff simply couldn't do enough for us upon arrival although it was not busy. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay from start to finish and have mad it our first choice hotel for Skegness.

« Wonderful service, good food »

As other reviewers have said, this hotel is slightly dated. However, it's clean and provides comfortable rooms. Where it excels is in its staff - unfailingly friendly and helpful - some of the best service we've enjoyed in the UK. Food is good too. Oh, and WiFi is free and has good signal strength.

« Excellent Hotel with Exceptional Customer Service »

We really enjoyed staying at this Hotel. All of the staff was friendly and all gave exceptional Customer Service, especially Terry, who works behind the Bar. The Hotel offered a homely feel and the beds were comfortable. The food was amazing. This is definitely one Hotel that we will go and stay at again.

    « short break »

took advantage of special offer rate and was quite happy with everything.Bar staff and reception very good.Slightly dated hotel but ideal for golfing groups but not so good for couples. Breakfast was the highlight ,cooked to order top quality.Lovely empty beach for a walk afterwards

« We're was the calling cock phesant »

Just a one nighter, ( sunday) it was a very windy day ? We were very welcome to book in to the hotel with the way the weather was outside. Reception staff very welcoming. Room 115 was our abodie for the night, nice spacious room looking sea wards. Well presented bathroom and lovely towels too. Down into the bar for a meal which we ordered and arrived not long afterwards. A few pint of the finest black liquid and. Very good meal we returned to our room which was nice and warm. Tempted to go for a walk along the see front, but the signs of the flag pole outside nearly bent double, we stayed put. After a good night sleep in a comfrtable bed , down for breakfast which was the best as it get ( full english ) stafff well turned out and very professional too. Well done to all. Will be back again this was our seconded stay at this hotel bravo

« Adding a bit of class to Skegness »

Lovely hotel with big family rooms. Happy friendly staff esp in the bar. All the staff mad a fuss of the children and were very accommodating. A short walk along the beach to the centre of Skegness but just fat enough away to avoid the noise at night. I would definitely go back

    « Perfect »

Couldn' ask for a better service. Polite and very accommodating. The rooms have a lovely view of either the sea or golf coarse. The seating area for breakfast was inviting and the staff catered for all the family. Plenty of parking space and just a 15 minute walk via the beach to all Skegness offers. Couldn't reccommend this hotel highly enough.

    « Very disappointed »

Very disappointing! Stayed at this hotel over a very cold (-2) windy weekend. Pros: Beds comfortable. Golf course looked lovely. Cons: Steep steps entrances to hotel. Décor tired and shabby looking. Reception not very welcoming No offer to help with luggage to room on second floor. Busy with golfers in bar, etc. Early morning calls for 7.30 am did not materialize either morning. Enquiry re dinner - told we would have to book before 6 pm. No menus available so decided to go elsewhere. Room basic with paper thin walls - could hear other guests coughing and talking. Draft through window frames (gale blowing outside). Bedside cabinet shelf dusty and back of bathroom door/frame needed wiping. Bathroom freezing. Radiator not working so could not use bath/shower. Towels remained damp. Asked for room (No 123) to be serviced by noon next morning (Sun), as wanted to get ready for family lunch gathering at 1 pm. Room not serviced at all. Beds not made, cups not washed, bathroom not accessed BUT room wastepaper bin emptied between 1 pm and 5 pm. We stayed at this hotel for a long awaited Carvery Lunch family gathering in the Conservatory room. Members travelled from Cornwall, North Wales, Wilts, Warwickshire, etc. Tables were formica, not made up with cloths, napkins, cutlery, anything! Knives and forks were on a side table with condiments The person who organised/paid for this, having now spoken to him, was very disappointed. This was not the standard experienced in the past. Interestingly, on leaving on Monday morning this room was set up for some event with table cloths, napkins, cutlery, glasses, etc. This hotel is more suited to being a golf course venue only - we felt we were a hindrance, and obviously they need more staff. We have never ever stayed at a hotel in any part of the world where rooms were not serviced.

    « Old Fashioned »

On entering the bar we were greeted and served by Dan, who was efficient, professional and a credit to the hotel. As we climbed the stars to our room, it was very noticeable how old and dated the carpet and decor was, and much in need of decorating and modernising. Our room was very dated but spotless and warm. The bed was very comfortable and bed linen crisp, clean and good quality. The bathroom was of good size and with complimentary toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. On entering the restaurant for breakfast we were promptly seated and served. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, the quality and the choice. Obviously a popular hotel for golfers as hotel has its own Lynx golf course. All the staff we met were very professional and a credit to the hotel, but hotel is in desperate need of decorating, new carpets and modernising

« Single room is very, very small »

This hotel is "a little bit' old. Needs urgently being refurbished. Asked for room with a shower (no bath) but my request was ignored. Very thin walls let enjoy the noice of the neigbour. Breakfast wa ok but 1 took 15 minutes to bake two eggs and 1 toast. (without the restaurant being full). Internet was ok but was sometimes restricted.

« Great Traditional English Seaside Hotel »

Whilst the hotel is now looking a little tired it maintains a fabulous traditional seaside hotel feel. To upgrade it would detract from its old world charm and warm friendly feeling. Just spent 2 nights there and the staff were excellent. They all looked after us exceptionally well. The breakfast was everything you would want, cooked and served to perfection. The evening meal was first class. There was plenty of choice of top quality fare that you would do well to find in a top restaurant. The golf course attached is interesting and challenging. Well worth playing. A well earned 5 Stars and a big thank you to all the staff.

« In need of TLC »

Stayed at this hotel and golf course on many occasions and to be fair it is what you pay for cheep and cheerful for a few guys to have a group golf trip Visited on the 8 November for a few days the place is in need of some TLC and the course is in need of some serious monies spent on it ( Thank God for Seacroft who came to are rescue ) I must say the food was shocking which in the past has not been the case To the guys that count spend some monies on TLC or you will lose some very loyal custom, as for us it will be a very long time before we return

« Brian Stray Thorntons Golf Society »

Just stayed at north shore golf club for 3 nights for our 22/23 year in a row. Staff, food, golf course excellent. If your like me and love a cuppa it would be nice to have just a few extra tee bags and milk but saying that the receptionist gave me a few extra when I mentioned this. The prices in the hotel are a bit steep but this still can't put you off coming to NSGC. The rooms in the annex are nice and clean no faults at all. If your looking for a great golf course and hotel this is the place to come.

« Dirty smelly but looks great »

I stayed here for one night on 4th November 2015. When I got my room it was very poky but I thought OK. Then I noticed a pair of dirty mens socks on the floor, the room had obviously not been cleaned. When I told reception they just said 'Oh' as if it was a normal occurrence. Staff were generally un-attentive, I asked about evening meal as I had a late finish (had to go back out to work) and they told me it closes at 21:00. When I returned at 20:30 they said that I needed to book, a little late for that information. Generally it's such a shame as the building looks so nice and is just off the shoreline. It could be a lovely hotel but is not!

« A faded hotel that has seen better days »

We stayed at this golf hotel as a late booking for a weekend in Skegness. Firstly we were met by a steep and rather uneven slope to the hotelfrom the car park and another four steep steps to the entrance way. We were met as we entered with an overpowering smell of not very nice smelling food, as the kitchen was fairly near the reception area. Both on arriving and leaving the reception staff were not very friendly. When we arrived we were told if we wanted to eat in we had to report to reception by 6 to let them know. When we left we weren't even asked if we had enjoyed our stay! The carpets and the dreary decoration up the stairs was old and not very inviting and the room although freshly painted wasn't very modern. Those are the negatives. The positives were a very comfotable very large bed which was clean and we had an amazing night's sleep. There was plenty of hot water and a nice bath and lots of clean towels. We also had a sea view and the sea was literally a few minutes walk out of the hotel. The most amazing thing though was the maître d' at breakfast. Wonderful professional friendly service - nothing was too much trouble for him and the buffet breakfast followed by a full English was worth the stay. So although there were many downsides and I guess these were largely money issues, there were also many positives about this hotel.

    « Great location »

Just spent two nights here what a great location just yards from the shoreline. Staff very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable rooms with good views . Only slight critism is that after daily clean some items were not replenished such a shower gel and hot chocolate.

    « Golf tour »

A perfectly fine, clean, warm and friendly hotel. Good breakfasts. 1st tee on the James Braid ( Google him if you don't know ) designed course just outside the hotel. I commend the service particularly of staff member Danny in arranging taxi and restaurants for us. BOOK THIS HOTEL WITH CONFIDENCE.

« not such good value »

I have to compare this with our usual b&b in skegness, sorry to say it does not match up, basic cramped room incredibly dusty carpet, really dusty, £10 for breakfast is at least double what it should be or what it was worth, not up to standard for an hotel only worth using if nothing else available

« Great Venue for a Good Value Golf Break »

I've been visiting North Shore Hotel & Golf Club with a group of twelve friends, each Autumn, for 13 years. Whilst no championship course, the golf course is always well kept and provides challenges for all standards of golfer. It's a great holiday course and our group always enthuses about the food in the restaurant - and in the good value bar.

    « GEORGE S »

I arranged our Annual Sunday lunch for our Society (Oddfellows). We only used the Restaurant and therefore cannot comment on the rooms. There were 38 in our group and we enjoyed an excellent 2 or 3 course meal from the Carvery. We were seated in the St. Andrews Suite where we had 5 round tables which made conversation easy. The service was good and quick and our thanks go to Bill and Maurice for their attention, especially the banter with Bill,

    « Disappointing sunday lunch »

We expected a better choice. It would seem the only vegetarian meal was curry which did not suit an elderly gastric person. The reception staff were slow to attend to us and very off hand. The waitress when we got to the restaurant pointed to our table but didnot take us to it.When queueing for the carvery people pushed us aside to get to the bar area beyond. We will not be returning here.

    « superb »

Having recently stayed for a second time, I can honestly say that its the place to stay in Skegness. I dont play golf, but that makes no difference here. The food is great value and can not be faulted. The staff are friendly and the manager, Mr Hutchinson is a credit, not just to the company but his profession as well. Really looking forward to going back again in the near future.

    « Another fabulous stay »

Great hotel in a fabulous location, evening meal in the lounge bar was lovely and great value. The room was really clean and the bed really comfortable. A steady 15 min stroll into Skegness. We will return.

    « Great short break »

This is the second time my husband & I visited this hotel this year. We were ready for a short break and stayed "room only" for 2 nights midweek in late September. The hotel is in a great location, nearly on the beach and with good views but within walking distance of Skegness. We stayed in The Lodge (an annexe) right on the golf course. I was impressed that staff had bothered to read my email requesting the same room as before and had acted on it (most places I've visited staff haven't bothered). The furnishings are a bit dated but are in keeping with the ambiance of the building. However, there was some damage to the fixtures/furnishings in The Lodge that weren't there when we visited before; could these have been caused by another guest? Repairs needed. We ate both nights in the bar, the food is really good, freshly cooked, plenty of choice including a comprehensive specials board and large portions. The staff are friendly and helpful.

    « Lovely hotel »

Second visit to this hotel, was impressed on first visit, so when booking a short break for my partner and I decided to return. Rooms were dated but clean, hotel is set in a beautiful location and our room had a partial sea view which was a bonus. Food was excellent and reasonably priced, we ate in the hotel bar every night, the specials board offered an extensive range of meals and coupled with the normal menu there was always plenty to choose from. Would definately return to this hotel. The only down side was we were led to believe the walk into Skegness was 10 minutes, it was more like 30 minutes but no hardship as it was a pleasant stroll along the beach (which we did every day).

« What has happened to customer service? »

I arrved at 8:00pm to be met by a friendly reception team. This was my second visit to the hotel in the last 6 months and I booked not because its a great hotel but last time the staff made the dated hotel worth a second visit. On this occasion I feel let down. Having been informed that the restaurant stopped serving food at 9:00pm I made my way to my allocated room in 'the lodge 'an annex to the hotel. Yes the room is dated but it is clean. Making my way back to the hotel I entered the bar area to order food at 8:30pm. The Ploughman's was just awful, three large lumps of the same cheese, a few pickled onions and two slices of apple. I left 80% of it. I went back to the bar to ask for a desert at 8:59pm to order desert and was told we have stopped serving. Just poor, the member of the bar staff could not be bothered to go and get a slice of cheesecake. I feel somewhat let down, hungry and just not wanting to come back.

    « Poor Reception Management »

I recently stopped here as a short weekend break, when approaching the hotel first impressions were "what a lovely location." The hotel is situated on a small hill overlooking a golf course and the beach, however after dragging our luggage up the front steps (there is no lift or slope) we were greeted by a lady who we presumed worked for the hotel in non-uniform and had very bad breath. My partner and I checked in, dropped our luggage in our room and went down to the bar. As it was quite late when we arrived we fancied just a quick bar meal which actually took 20 minutes to be served and 35 minutes for our food to come out, two sandwiches and a bowl of chips wasn't actually a quick meal. On the other hand the "bar supervisor" a tall young male couldn't be more apologetic and explained that there was a wedding going on so the kitchen was very busy. The room was tidy and clean and all of the cleaning staff were hard working and friendly. We had a lovely time up until the morning we had to check out, again we approached reception to find that no one was behind there, we looked to our left and this lady who i spoke of before was stood behind the bar having a chat with another staff member. My partner very politely just said "excuse me young lady we're waiting to check out" she turned round, scowled and replied with the rudest tone of voice "well you'll have to wait won't you." It appears this lady was in fact called Katie and had the title of "reception manager" personally i think this role needs reinstating as she was an embarrassment to the hotel and for as long as she works there i will not be going back, what an awful way to ruin a splendid holiday!!
