« Nice Place to Visit »

Spent a couple of days at the One Four Nelson, Rye. The room and bathroom were a good size and clean - although a little dated. Micro wave was convenient. Breakfast and dinner was very good in the nearby Bistro. Conveniently located for visitors to the Mornington Peninsula. Wi-fi worked but could have been a little stronger. Some selected channels for Foxtel. Staff were friendly. The hotel is located directly across the road from the beach.

    « Location »

The room was large and comfortable with probably the most comfortable lounge suite of any place we have was quiet but only 50 metres to the Main Street and the beach The best rooms are 107 to110 which were away from the driveway and we could park undercover before entering the secure gated complex

« A good stop over on Peninsular »

We had a Luxury Escapes package. Check-in efficient. Room had kitchenette area, modern bathroom. Overlooking pool. Loved the voucher to hot pools. Excellent service from breakfast staff in Rye Hotel. Dinner in Rye Hotel large serves. Typical hotel menu. Good value deal.

    « Great! (but don't stay in room 206) »

Just spent a wonderful 2 days at One Four Nelson in Rye. We had a 2 day package deal which turned out to be wonderful both in value and experience except for 2 things. Upon arrival we were issued with daily vouchers to use wifi but was not able to access wifi in my room. I went back to reception and was told to try to connect again in half an hour and was told "It must be the weather!" LOL! The weather improved but I was not able to access wifi for the entire 2 days (unless I stood outside on balcony on other side of complex or was in the Hotel next door) Second problem didn't become evident until we tried to get to sleep. It was very quiet but was kept awake by a humming and then clunking noise near the head of our bed which sounded a bit like a pump stopping and starting. Given the fact that we were taking advantage of a value deal I was happy to accept that our King Spa room looked out on a wall with glimpses of the pool if you stood on the right angle but the noise and wifi issue made the experience not quite the "Luxury Escape" we had anticipated. The Rye hotel was great and we were more than happy with the meals, breakfast and friendly service we had there. The free passes to Peninsula Hot Springs were much appreciated and enjoyed as was the complimentary bottle of wine and 4 chocolates we found upon arrival.

    « awesome »

We stayed for 2 nights here they are renovating so its a bit hard to find a carpark we were lucky because there was car spaces for hotel guest The room we had was great large King size bed i must say it was the most comfortable i have ever slept on it wasn't firm but it wasn't soft either it felt like you were on the clouds fantastic sleep even better than home And i have a great bed also.We only had a studio room But there was heaps of room.

    « great location and v clean »

A Modern hotel that was well situated, comfortable and spotless. Friendly staff. The room became very bright early in the morning due to the frosted glass panel beside the door. It would be an improvement if they could install a blind to black this out for those who want to sleep in. Massive breakfast available at Rye Hotel which adjoins the property.

    « "Luxury Escape Disappointment" »

We booked a 2 night getaway through Luxury Escapes. The place looked like a cheap and nasty motel. It was not well sign posted so we were not sure where reception was. We arrived 20 minutes early and were told that the room was not ready (which was fine) but the attitude of the person on reception was atrocious and she would not give us a time when the room would be ready. We returned 2hrs later, the floor was still wet and slippery from the cleaners. The room was nice enough but we were on the ground floor RIGHT next to the drive way for a bottle-o. We had a $50 meal voucher included. I ordered the Thai Beef Salad, it was disgusting, there was very little meat and the salad had no dressing, it was unediable, no one checked on us and when we left a full meal behind no one cared, I ended up eating half of my hubby's steak. The breakfast which was included was no better, the Hollandaise sauce was split, my pancakes we wet underneath and there was no cream and only two strawberries. There are posters everywhere telling you what you are not allowed to do, it has a very negative vibe. Their "free wifi" is locked down so much you can barely use it and have to go back daily for a new access code. There is a heat pump that does not pump heat, we were cold the entire time. Overall the experience was very average, I would not recommend it as a Luxury escape, it is mutton dressed as lamb. But it was clean and the room was spacious.

    « Mid-week escape »

Purchased a package deal for a two night mid-week escape. Good communications beforehand with all the information needed. Friendly check in staff who apologised for making us wait due to a phone enquiry. Clear instructions of desk was provided at desk. We found the room to be clean and tidy. Good space with a kitchenette area and nice modern bathroom facilities. Room on second floor with small balcony overlooking the pool area. Overall a nice facility. Would be nice to have more tea varieties provided for those of us who enjoy the herbal choices but otherwise all good.

    « Very disappointing experience »

We booked a 2 nights deal with breakfast and a dinner voucher through luxuryescapes in this supposidly 4 star hotel. On arrival the building looked like a 2 star motel with dirty corridors leading to the room. The room was huge with a balcony overlooking the pool. Thats great we thought until we used the smelly towels. We went to have dinner at 8:40 pm the door was shut although advertised " Open till late" so we kissed our $50 voucher gpodbye. When reported to reception I got an earful on "This is how it is in Rye. We close early if not busy" I pointed out that hotel customers are rarely locals and have the right to be informed. So much for organisations using feed back for quality improvement. The restaurant said they will inform reception and vice versa. Our sleep was continously interrupted by loud humming of some kind of compressor in the building My wife didnt eat her included egg benedictine breakfast next morning? It was all soggy with oil and the salmon was off. Overall a disappointing experience.

« Perfect Place to Stay »

We spent two days in Rye staying at One Four Nelson and it was terrific. It is centrally located, close to the Rye beach, right next door to the Rye Hotel and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The room we had was well laid out, adjacent to the swimming pool ( which would be great during the warmer months !) and was quiet with no external noise at all>

    « Mixed review »

Pre-stay the staff was amazing and helped organise in room amenities, get to the hotel to be welcomed by a rude lady who was not helpful. Could not fault the room, was all clean. Asked for a late check out with the lady that checked us in(did not get her name) and was flat out denied without knowing the time I wished for(10:30) as someone who also works at a hotel I know this is possible no matter how busy the property is. Housekeeping was friendly and did not find me rude in saying we didn't need servicing. If the receptionist had have listened and wasn't so rude my stay review would be different.

« Such a warm and welcoming have me every time! »

From first initiation of a call, Gail remembered me from 2 years ago! So warm and engaging. the accommodation is perfect. I highly recommend a stay, the rooms and facilities are spot on...looking forward to my next visit...maybe a christmas break! Thanks Gail, Kindest regards, Darren G.

    « Escape Package »

A night away to recharge the batteries. Staff were lovely. Package included Hot springs passes and hot breakfast at the hotel. Location close beach and restaurants. Room very clean. Highly recommend for a getaway night or two away.

    « Good Hotel »

Found this hotel through Trip advisor. It's a good hotel at Rye. The room is well equipped with all the necessary appliances like Iron, Fridge, etc. The room is clean too and looks modern. There's a small swimming pool in the middle of the complex.

    « What a great room »

We visited to have a girls night away. In total there was eight of us. The rooms were great. We had a double room the first night which was great for just two of us to sleep in and on the second night once the rest of the party joined we had both of the mezzanine rooms, they were spacious and clean. It is close to everything in Rye with a bottleshop right on your doorstep! It was perfect, I would definitely come back!

« Lovely room, friendly staff and quiet mid-week stay »

Very comfortable bedding. Pleasant outlook to the courtyard pool area. Pleasant staff. Quiet stay during the week. Hotel next door provided great meals - both breakfast and evening meals....Lovely to be able to simply cross the main road and enjoy a morning walk along the foreshore pathways and take in the sunrise across Port Phillip Bay.

    « One Nighter »

Overall hotel was very pleasant. Had a refreshing aroma on opening our room located on the 2nd floor. Room was clean and tidy. Reception took great care of our welcome and very helpful. However the couch was looking tired and probable could do with an update and the mattress was ok for one night and definitely the pillows need replacing as they are what I would term 'dead'. The decorative pillows I would not have either as they are also looking very tired ! Pool view was pleasant from our balcony and private. Free WIFI worked well no complaints !

    « Comfort at a price »

For a 4 star motel, The Best Western One Four Nelson's reception area is only accessible from the rear car park in a dingy little office, adjacent to the Rye hotel. They are also in the process of adding on another storey, so that was not an attractive feature. There is also a conference centre. However our beautiful room, behind a security gate, with a view of the outdoor pool and spa, made up for it. Unfortunately, the poor weather prevented us from testing them out. The room had a comfortable modular lounge suite that converted to another bed. Our room was furnished tastefully and had a deep spa bath and the usual toiletries. Ironing board and iron was provided. Microwave with crockery and cutlery were handy for breakfast, otherwise you can buy breakfast for $22.Generous assortment of tea and coffee sachets. For some reason the back part of the provided hairdryer kept coming off and the TV cut out at 9.30am. Not good when you've paid $275 for the night.Rye beach is just across the road and there are many shops and cafes in the immediate area. You can have dinner at the hotel's bistro area which faces Rye beach or make use of the Sports bar which has TAB facilities. The management does not allow any visitors to your room or the pool area and recommends any socializing to be done at the Rye hotel. For shoppers, the Sorrento shopping strip is only a 10 minute drive away. Overall, a relaxing place for a weekend getaway, especially if you come across from Geelong on the car ferry.

    « Loud noise »

The hotel itself is quite beautiful and modern and the family room features a large double story area. This room also features a reasonable balcony with the view of the spa and swimming pool. Overall it was pretty good, however try to avoid the double story family room at the back left side corner. We had to listen to a loud noise coming from another building next door all night...

« great place to stay »

we stayed In a king spa ground floor room on march 21st @22nd , a very spacious, and modem room ,clean and quiet, the heated pool was at a perfect temperature large and clean, the staff were helpful and pleasant we would not hesitate to stay again

    « Comfortable and Convenient »

Room was very comfortable and large with a good size bathroom. Rather expensive but it was peak season. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Handy to beach and shops, restaurants etc. Would certainly recommend and will stay here again.

« housekeeping is appalling - never again »

room was comfortable -very expensive for a 5 day visit but peak season. we definently did not get what we pad for - intermittent wifi - housekeeping were very dirty - all they did was empty the bins and replenish the towels during our stay - nothing was cleaned at all... will not stay again

    « Terrible »

After staying in numerous hotels around the world for 12+ years as a flight attendant my experience at One Four Nelson Rye was most definitely the worst experience I've had. The customer service was deplorable, the cleaning atrocious & after spending  $2000+ for 5 nights our room faced a concrete wall. My father broke his foot a few minutes after entering our room on level 2 due to falling down 2 inconspicuous stairs close to the entry. The manager demanded $540 to move us to a downstairs room so my father wouldn't be forced to climb a flight of stairs numerous times a day. On principal we refused. She then said we should "stick him on the balcony with a magazine for the week". There was no compassion whatsoever. Do not stay in the 2 br apartment. You will surely feel as though you're in prison apart from negotiating numerous stairs every day. An employee told us secretly another guest had broken her arm falling down the same stairs. A miserable week that I never wish to repeat. One Four Nelson I've never been treated so poorly in my life. Shame on you.

    « relaxing time off »

Enjoyed the comfy king size bed in a clen and spacious room. Bathroom was good with a spa and a shower over the bath. Pool was outside out door which had easy access for adults. Also having the hotel next door was a bonus for meals. polkies not very generous though.

    « Gets busy »

We were here at Christmas bang in the middle of the Australian summer holidays and wow it was busy. but the staff were brilliant the food was good and everybody was happy if not a little bit hot. The hotel and the Rye hotel (they are one and the same) are on the main beach road in the middle of town so you are very central for you don't need the car but exploring the other little towns up and down this part of the coast is easy. If not just sit on the beach although it was 35 Degrees so not for long

    « I think it's time Gail retired »

My husband, child and I have stayed here so many times I can not count. We last stayed here for about a week in Jan last year. We stayed in one of there apartment rooms. My child is nearly 10 and I hated the fact that he was sleeping down stairs near the front door opposite the pub, and we were upstairs. I enquired about getting a normal room this time with a fold out couch. She rudely said to us that the child can no longer sleep on the fold out bed. I asked if we could still book the room and we bring our own fold up bed for our son and it was a harsh no. When I asked what was the difference if my son was on their bed or not she just said it can't be done. No explanation nothing. Her rudeness is quite extreme now that if I try to make a reservation and she answers I hang up the phone. She is way past her time. It's a shame because we really love this hotel.

« Very good standard of accommodation »

This is a well positioned motel, right across from the beach. The rooms are extremely spacious and well appointed with nice outlook to the landscaped gardens and pool. Great bed and very good lounge area. Definitely a class above most motels. The only complaint is that the workers/staff were very noisy at around 7.30am for quite some time spoiling the hoped for sleep in. The next morning was fine though. Possibly some construction noise. Otherwise highly recommended

    « Pretty good property - »

My partner and I were in Rye for a family birthday event and decided to stay at this property since we often stay at Best Western. It is nice and central and has an attached Bistro and pub. They are apparently expanding as there was construction going on above the bistro area. Parking seemed fine. There were spots reserved for hotel guests. They were full when we arrived back late one night, but there was plenty of open parking. The room we had was very spacious with a large lounge area and a proper king size bed. It also had a small kitchenette which came in handy a few times. The bathroom was large and modern and had a nice shower. Our room also opened on to the pool area which was nicely maintained and had a lovely garden. The attached bistro was pretty good. Spent a few hours relaxing there with drinks and sitting by a fire. Didn't have a chance to go to the pub this time around but we have been there before and it was OK. There is also a pokies gaming room on-site. Spent a small amount of time in there playing.

    « Great hotel »

From booking through to check out the service was very good. We stayed for one night in the mezzanie two bedroom suite. It was very well appointed, with one double bedroom on the main floor, along with a very big bathroom, with seperate shower and whirlpool bath. The rest of this floor was the living area, with a very large TV, small kitchen area with kettle and microwave, and balcony. Upstairs was another bedroom with king bed. Breakfast was in the Rye hotel next door, whilst only Cereal, toast, juice and tea or coffee it was very good, with a basket of toast per person.

« Good location, great staff and a nice hotel to boot. »

I stopped in here after travelling from Perth on my motorcycle, I was cold, wet, tired and hungry. I would have been happy with backpacker hostel and macdonalds!! I was a walk-in guest, tried a few other places with no luck. The lady at reception was awesome and helped me get organised, even putting in a personal call to let me know the restaurant in the Rye Hotel would be closing soon. Walking inside was a surprise, a very nice modern place, free wi-fi and complementary breakfast. About the only fault I could find is the room smelled like stale cigarette smoke, which I guess the staff cant do a lot about (maybe ban smoking on balconies). Tip, if you dont want to eat in the restaurant, pop next door to the sports bar. Probably the best budget steak ($16.50) I have had in a while.

« Overall Cleanliness not up to standard »

Well situated. Complex was a bit run down. Friendly staff, WIFI was only available free for one device. However, we were charged a cleaning levy of $50 when the bed was soiled by a child after there was no mention of such a fee when it occurred. I wouldn't have minded if it was mentioned to us prior to us departing which was the following day. The flat was also not cleaned to a very high standard when we arrived I had to request the room be swept after it was cleaned. Also the breakfast was very disappointing.

« Good central location in the Mornington penisular »

Situated next to The Rye Hotel (same business) just back from the beach. Great location to walk to restaurants, the beach or drop into the pub for a drink or food. The rooms are generous (we had a king suite) with a kitchenette, basically a sink and microwave. We moved to a room at the far end below the conference centre for better internet reception although the IT person arrived the next day to reset the routers so I can't comment on reception for other areas of the building. The annoying thing was having to get a new password every day. We were initially told that the free wifi was only for one device!!!! Thankfully after pointing out that this is not stated anywhere in the hotel profile they agreed to allow multiple passwords for our devices so be aware of this. Otherwise the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was an October special with free continental breakfast which was served in the hotel but as we were leaving each day before 8am they kindly left supplies in our room. Beds were very comfortable and there was quite a bit of storage space for an extended stay. All rooms seem to look on to the pool which is located in the centre of the complex. All in all quite a nice place to stay.

    « Location location location »

The location of this hotel was awesome but the complimentary breakfast was extremely disappointing. There is not need for a car as the beach is across the road, and all shops are walking distance. The breakfast was only juice coffee, cereal and toast. You need to add some sort of egg product. Too basic for the money I paid for the hotel stay

« 3rd time and still as great! »

Hotel : One Four Nelson Best Western Location : Right in the town centre of Rye in front of the beach, sea and jetty. Lined with shops and restaurants like Picnics, Wunderbar etc. Tucked behind the main road facing Rye hotel so the Best Western itself is very quiet frm any noise. Ambience : The lobby is in the Rye hotel and the rooms are tucked behind. Second floor rooms are better being higher up. The ppty had ample car parks available. Service : Gail and Judy was super helpful botg during the booking process where we made changes as well as during our stay. We asked for extra firm pillows, we got it. We asked for a more powerful hairdryer, we got a brand new one. We asked for tourist info and we got it. Rooms : Our family incl 2 girls stayed in the mezzanine suite which sleeps four in 2 king size beds, one on the living room bedroom and the other on the mezzanine floor bedrm up a flight of stairs. Overlooks the swimming pool. This being our 2nd visit was just as good as the first. A lot of negative reviews didnt do this hotel justice. It had coffee making facilities, toaster, soft warm beds, hot powerful showers and the rooms were spick and clean. Conclusion : Probably the best place to stay this far south of the mornington peninsula. Near to Sorrento with the car ferry to Queenscliffe and the Great Ocean Road, 10mins drive to Peninsula hot springs and surrounded by amazing golf courses incl moonah links, dunes etc.

    « Customer service? What's that? »

My friend and I stayed for two nights for a girls weekend away from the city and to have a good break. Upon check in we were asked for a credit card swipe for a bond after being assured when reconfirming that one was not required. We both understood that it is a general thing for a bond to be taken but thought it was odd that we were told no first and then told otherwise on arrival. The room was nice. The room contained a minibar fridge which we put our wine in the door. When going to open the fridge (around 1:30pm) the metal rod that holds the items in came out of place and our unopened wine fell out and smashed on the floor. I called reception to let them know and to request assistance to clean up the glass, I was informed that housekeeping had left and the receptionist (MANAGER) was alone and didn't want to leave reception incase people came to check in. I was told to go to reception to collect some fresh towels and to use the ones we had to clean up the mess. I had to ask for a dustpan and brush to pick up the peices of glass. No assistance was offered at all, not even to mop the floor to prevent the floor from getting sticky, so we laid a towel on the floor and to make sure we definatly didn't step on any glass. We received no follow up call from reception at any point. At check out time I brought the above to receptions attention and asked for any type of compensation as it was their fridge that was faulty and caused our bottle of wine to fall and smash. The response I recieved was 'I'll pass on the information, there's nothing I can do and the manager will call you'. I informed that I'd be writing a review online and I was told not to 'threaten' a bad review. I did not recieve a phone call or any type of apology to rectify the issue. (Hence this review) My friend and I both work in the industry and were shocked and dissapointed with the service we received especially from the manager.

We have travelled widely throughout Australia, and whenever possible we stay in Best Western Motels. Pulled into Rye after an unsuccessful attempt to get into the Peninsula Hot Spa. That's another story. Asked for a motel room for two adults and one child. The person at the counter said that would be $320. I stood stunned for about 5 seconds, then said we only want a motel room. I thought the person may have thought we needed an apartment, but the price quoted was for a motel room. So it was thanks, but no thanks. We headed off to hopefully a less expensive alternative.

    « MELBOURNE- Natalie.R »

We just came back from a 2 night family holiday in Rye. We stayed in Best Western hotel. We had a good experience, our rooms was clean and we had everything that we need.I didn't rated the hotel with 5 stars just because that in the information list it been said that the have Foxtel but didn't and on the website it said free Wi-Fi and it didn't. We may come back one day :). Natalie
