    « Very nice facility »

Great service and the best breakfast presentation of any Best Western at which I have stayed. The variety of items was beyond that which I would have expected. The convenience of the GW Gibbs steak house attached to the hotel was well appreciated particularly with the inclement weather.

    « Pleasant »

My family and I love staying at Best Western, BW Hilltop has had by far the best Continental experience of all our BW stays in Cali :) so far. We forgot to try out the gym, but it looked very inviting! Friendly staff.

    « Amazing »

The room was so comfortable and super clean. I had a very long drive from Florida to Washington state and am so glad I chose to stay here. I got a great nights sleep and had a delicious hot breakfast.

« Restaurant spoiled the stay »

Hotel was good for the money, restaurant food was great but when I went back to the room I noticed they charged for a desert I did not get, I called, they said they would refund but they did not, check your bill closely

    « Back to Weed »

I use this Hotel to relax and catch up on emails and special assignments I want to finish before I continue North to Weed and Roseburg. The Hotel is always clean and they give me a good room when I show up early enough. They serve a good breakfast and you can stay a little longer when you need to. This is one of my favorite Hotels on the road.

« Continues to be our favourite in Redding »

My wife and I have stayed at th Hilltop Inn several times over the years. We return because it is consistently clean, has a very good restaurant and the staff are excellent and friendly. Beds and linen are very good so we get a fine sleep. The hotel is undergoing renovations to keep it fresh but the renovations do not disrupt a good stay.

« A bit dated, but conveniently located »

We stayed here because of other experiences with Best Western Plus hotels. This one is a bit dated, so we're not sure what exactly constitutes the "Plus" rating. The office is apparently being remodeled. The room was comfortable, but a bit small. The large free standing "closet" and cabinet that housed the refrigerator, and drawers, with the tv on top, took so much space there really wasn't a convenient area to put our suitcase on the stand. The staff was very pleasant.

    « Never Disappointed »

I stay here every time I fish in the area. I always get a Deluxe Queen room with two beds and split the cost with my fishing buddy. We are never disappointed. C.R. Gibbs, the bar and restaurant attached to the hotel, is nice. The food is good and we usually have dinner and drinks in the bar.

« Bike the Redding Trail System in Style! »

Traveling north on I-5 from southern California, I had planned to spend a mid - week fall night or more in Redding to sample the areas acclaimed bike trail. I chose the Best Western Hilltop Inn primarily because of its proximity to the trail. I'm happy to say my expectations for both the hotel and trail were greatly exceeded! The hotel staff were super - friendly and helpful with directions to the trailhead and the trail itself is superb! Icing on the cake: The complimentary breakfast is outstanding! I am already planning my to return to Redding and this hotel for more extensive biking and a hiking trip to Lassen National Park. Steve C

    « Don't stay here »

My friends and I booked this hotel for a girls weekend away. The rooms are old rooms with cheap newer furniture like furniture in a box. The carpet was dirty and the rooms smelled like old hotel that had been smoked in. The furniture had drink rings left on them, the whole place felt dirty. The rooms were on the side of the building open to the outside. The walkway cement was dirty and the stairs were metal exposed outside. The beds were horrible. Mattress uncomfortable, sheets heavy and scratchy. The pillows were half size, I've never seen pillows like them they were horrible. The coffee maker was dirty and I couldn't use it. I dumped old grounds out of it. They still use glass glasses and they cover the top with a piece of Saran Wrap, it's not professional, and I really doubt the cleanliness. I will never stay here again and doubt I will ever use Best western again.

    « Best breakfast »

We spent one night at the Bestwestern Hilltop Inn. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was exceptional with fritter eggs, sausage, bacon, and perfectly fried potatoes. The servers did an excellent job keeping the tables cleared and the food fresh. Coffee was good and both mugs and cups to go were available.

« Very nice property with good attached restaurant »

We have stayed at this property twice while traveling south from WA to AZ. The hotel on both occasions offered a $20 dining credit for $10. The on site restaurant is very good. The breakfast frittata was truly delicious.

« BW Plus Hilltop Inn »

Another nice BW Plus property. Clean and comfortable with a great restaurant and bar attached. Staff was friendly and helpful. Above average breakfast cooked on site (although the menu items never changed from day to day the week I stayed there, a little variety would be nice). Overall a great stay and I would definitely book here again when traveling in the area.

« In spite of construction.... »

We've stayed at the Hilltop Inn before and will again. It is easy to get to and from the highway, yet once you're there you're not aware of the traffic. They had a lot of construction going on in and around the lobby but put us in a room well away from it, and we were very comfortable. We were upgraded to a deluxe room at no cost and it was really nice. The exercise room is well-appointed and two of us took advantage of it to get a nice workout in. When you're spending hours on the road, this can make a world of difference! The room was very nice, with granite countertops and nice fixtures and furnishings. There is a large outdoor pool, heated, and a jacuzzi. The rooms do not have microwave ovens. I think they mean for you to eat in the inn's very nice restaurant. Included in the price of the room is a wonderful breakfast buffet. It bears no resemblance to other included breakfasts, even hot breakfasts. Here, there are lots of choices: prepared oatmeal with lots of toppings, yogurt, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, quiche, and lots more. It's really kind of magnificent!

« a GREAT PLACE TO STAY FOR BUSINESS AND PLEASURE »

Staff is very professional. Room was very clean and well cared for. Hotel grounds are maintained well and safe. Very close to many amenities and attractions. Any problems were taken care of. Very quiet. Easily accessible for elderly guests.

    « redding »

Always great and love this place Love this restaurant....all staff are great. A home away from home. been staying for a few years on business. Easy access to stores activities and other restaurants. Easy access to Interstate 5. Beautiful pool area and a lift for handicapped. Environmental friendly. Real glasses in the room.

    3
    « Unrealistically Expensive! »

This Best Western Plus isn't. The disturbing sounds of traffic from the adjacent I-5 Interstate will interrupt the soundest sleeper's slumber. Deceitfully, they charge less for these King-Rooms ($10 less) than those rooms positioned farther away from the Interstate that permit a good nights sleep. Though I received a $20 reduction in my room price after complaining about the traffic sounds and loud refrigerator (we had to turn it off), my appraisal of this experience is mostly negative , particularly when I consider the price of the room--$136.07. Management should inform guests of traffic noise and explain the discounted price for said room.s If you can sleep through a hurricane, then by all means, take your $10 discount for the rooms offered at the back of the building and pretend you are in Los Angeles. The good of the experience was: 1. Service personnel were helpful. 2. Adjacent restaurant has reasonable food and provides a more than adequate breakfast. And finally, were I not a Best Western Club Member (earning points for stay) I'd be searching for somewhere else to stay.

    5
    « A very good choice »

We were very pleased with how comfortable we were at Best Western in Redding. The location was perfect for us and the hotel accommodations were really very good. A comfortable room and an excellent breakfast.

    4
« Nice place, good breakfast »

Room was fine; we reserved via smartphone same day, with a discount. Normal Best Western style/design. There was a party in the main lobby area (Saturday night), but our room was well away, though on the parking lot; still, it was quiet all night. The in-room refrigerator did NOT have a freezer section, so our cooler ice-packs became useless for the next day's travel. Nor was there a microwave in the room. Breakfast, however, was very good. Though the standard buffet style, there were two hot egg dishes, bacon and large sausages, and other basics. Tables were clean; two hotpot carafes were for regular coffee, not just one. So, some functional disappointment with the room, but we left on full and satisfied tummies.

« Not what we wanted! »

We booked a three night stay at what we thought would be nice Best Western Hotel. We asked for a deluxe king room and was told that we would get an upgrade due to our premium membership. When we arrived we noticed that there was construction going on in the lobby. It is a little annoying when we are wanting a quiet get a way. I feel that we should have been notified at the the time of booking that there was construction underway. As my husband was checking in, I proceeded to get our luggage out and loaded on a cart. He was told that our room was on the side of the building and we proceeded to take the cart around the side of the building. The front desk clerk came out the side door to direct us to stairs. This nothing like what we saw online. This is a old motel! We took one look at the room and decided that this was not what we wanted. It looked like an old motel with new bedding! We have paid far less and received far better than this and we were suppose to get an upgrade! We went back to the front desk and told them that the accommodations did not meet our expectations. The front desk manager came into the conversation at that point and said that all there rooms had been remodeled and asked what room did we have.. She seemed to understand at that point and offered us another room in a another wing. She said that they had a room with two queens. That is not what we booked or was expecting with a premium upgrade, so we declined the offer. The manager did say she wouldn't charge us for the cancellation with less than the standard 24 hour noticed. Gee, thanks! At that point, all we could imagine was, they gave our room with the upgrade to someone else. This was a lesson learned for us. Never go by the pictures posted on the website!

« Not as nice as I remembered from last time »

Not quite as nice as our last stay in January, although they were renovating the lobby which could have thrown things out. Dinner and breakfast was great as the last two times. We would definitely stay here again though.

« Delightful Hotel in Redding, CA »

I always stay at the Best Western Hilltop in Redding, CA as it is close to where I must be for work when traveling there from the Bay Area. The staff there is very stable and they remember me which is delightful and I do not feel odd or strange having dinner in their Restaurant as they make me feel like family. Appetizers, dinners, shrimp bowl are all excellent as well as their "special for the day" which was extremely good if you like lamb chops! I have had their steaks also and can say I recommend them!

« overpriced, old school rooms, »

We've been on a 3 week trip down the Oregon coast and inland to Palm Desert. On our way home we picked this hotel because of its location. Of all the hotels we stayed in on this trip, this was the worst AND it cost the most. Tiny rooms. As a platinum Best Western member I usually get offered an upgrade. Mentioning the possibility of an upgrade did not even merit a response. What is it about hotels in Northern California!...

    « A great rest before a long drive »

My friend and I stayed overnight in Redding on our way to Oregon and we found this hotel to be wonderful from Zak who checked us in to the comfort of the bed and the marvelous black out drapes! We had a wonderful meal at the attached restaurant and a great start with breakfast before we started our journey on Sunday Morning. Will stay at this s hotel again??

    « Gerald »

The perfect stopover on a long solo trip into Oregon. The facility is well kept, staff was very courteous, the room was very welcoming and the quietness allowed for a perfect nights rest. The restaurant and their menu added to make it a very pleasant experience. My pleasure to recommend this facility.

« Nice staff/Rooms are small and few amenities. »

Staff were nice. The rooms are pretty basic. Quiet and clean but extremely small. No exhaust fan in bathroom and only one sink. Centrally located to any necessity. Breakfast options were basic and great for meat eaters. Not many fruit or veggie options.

    5
    « Excellent service!!! »

This hotel is in a great location with restaurants, .We always try and stay at this hotel when we are on our way to southern California. The service is great, the breakfast is great, the rooms are very clean.

    « Great stay »

This BW Hilltop in Redding is an older 2 level hotel with an elevator. The rooms are very clean and have been updated. Average size room with sink outside of the bathroom. Comfy beds and pillows. The room was quiet which seems to be an advantage of older hotels. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel in on a main street and close to interstate 5. The hotel has an attached restaurant and bar where we ate dinner. The dinner was good and price reasonable. The best part was the breakfast. The breakfast is in the restaurant and it is a full, "real" breakfast buffet style. Large room with lots of seating. The price of the hotel was average. I would definitely stay here again!!

    « Old Faithful in N. California »

I travel through northern CA periodically and Redding is a convenient stop. For the past several years, The BW Hilltop Inn has been my motel of choice. It is convenient to I-5. The rooms are clean, quiet and the service friendly and professional. Their breakfasts are a definite cut above the standard fare and there is a good restaurant (C. K. Gibbs) attached. After a log day's drive, the last thing I want to do is to drive to a restaurant, so being able to walk through the lobby is a gift. The only downside to the Hilltop Inn is their TV system which is not particularly user friendly.

« Awesome Hotel and The best Restaurant »

From the minute April check me in at the desk to the very enjoyable meal I shared with my good friends. This hotel has been fantastic. I would like to give a shout out to Richelle " Rey Rey" our Waitress & Chef John whose delicious food and presentation was off the hook! The restaurants name is Bay View at Best Western Pier Point Inn lives up to its name as the view is fantastic ! One of my friends had the Coho Salmon and rice pilaf , one had stuffed chicken breast with rice pilaf and I had a mozzarella mushroom burger all very delicious reasonably priced mouthwateringly pleasing meals and then we filled up with dessert ... Yum . Bay View is elegant without being stuffy you can easily be casual with kids and family or dressy like for a romantic date???????? Thank you so much Best Western for helping me enjoy what has been an emotional trip for me. I was able to decompress before my drive home ??Thank you April Front Desk, Richelle and Chef John y'all rock!

« Clean and easy access to the freeway. »

Clean rooms, They do not provide garbage can liners you need to ask for one at the front desk. Easy to get to the freeway. a good selection of local and cable channels and in-room internet. Great restaurants in the local area.

« Great place to stay »

We stayed in Redding for one night at the end of a long driving trip. We like Best Westerns, and the Hilltop Inn was a good choice among many different brands available. The lobby area was being renovated, so it was a little tricky to find the check-in desk, and there was a long line in a very small space. Our room was on the first floor near the pool, and it was very quiet. The room was large with a king bed, table and chairs, and TV/micro/refrigerator set-up. The sink was outside the bathroom, which was handy for the two of us. The bathroom was somewhat small but functional. The hotel has a restaurant onsite, which was one reason why we chose it. It was crowded, but we did not have a long wait for a table. The server was friendly and efficient, and our meals--salad and sandwich--were very good. The hotel also has to have one of the best free breakfasts around, a nice array of cold and hot foods and even the coffee was good (although we still hit Starbucks on the way back to the freeway!). We would stay here again when traveling through Redding.

    4
    « best breakfast »

this is a very convenient location , easy on and off- a great restaurant and bar at the location - Great Steakhouse close by- rooms are nice clean and the WiFi is good for connecting with family on your progress.

« Clean, safe and dog friendly »

Recently stayed here on a road trip from Los Angeles to Portland. I was nervous about traveling with my two dogs and this hotel/motel turned out to be a great stopping off point. We had a ground floor room around back (facing the freeway) which was quiet and there was a small stretch of grass to walk the dogs late at night. It was well lit and felt safe for us and our car (packed to the gils). There is a large restaurant onsite that seemed to be a hot spot in the area for dinner. There was a large outdoor eating area and they offered take out or room service. They are renovating the lobby area and the temporary space is a bit tight. But otherwise, would definitely recommend if you are looking for a stop in the area.

    2
    « Don't bother staying here »

We had a very rude staff working the desk. If you bring a pet you are put in a room next to the freeway, having stayed at several other BW in the last two weeks with our pet, we never had to be put in the back.

    4
    « An enjoyable stay »

From the welcoming and informative staff to the clean room we were not disappointed. The lobby was currently being modified but this did not cause any concern and I can imagine it will only add to the welcome when it is completed. The buffet breakfast next door was well stocked with plenty of choice for the English palate and I am sure for the American taste. We were very happy with our visit whilst on a road trip through California and I am sure many other travellers will enjoy this Inn. Many Thanks.

    4
    « Staff not friendly »

The room and the area are great. The location before driving the mountains perfect. They are remodeling the lobby so a bit difficult getting to the office. The room is very comfortable couch and king bed. So everything is worth the stop and money. Whoever they had on today were very short and curt. Other than that great place to stay.

    3
    « Noisy air condition! »

Nicely remodeled rooms, lobby still remodeling, training new staff, took forever to check in ! Bossy, loud, lady behind the desk that was a poor example of a lead staffer for your hotel. Great breakfast deal in the restaurant!

    5
    « Upscale Redding BW »

Everything was super clean, well presented, and upscale compared to other BW motel/hotels (that were also very clean & had great staff). They are in the process of renovating the lobby so I didn't see it. I can highly recommend this motel/hotel.

    « Perfect stop-over for road trip! »

We traveled from our home in Salem Oregon to Yosemite and stayed at this hotel both on our way down and on our way back. This was the perfect mid-way point--approximately 6 hours from each location. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds. We spent several hours enjoying the lovely pool area and then had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant was unexpectedly nice--delicious food and a nice atmosphere. We ate one evening on the outdoor patio. It was lovely and refreshing and has fire-pits to take the chill off the evening. After a good night's sleep, we checked out the breakfast buffet. It was surprisingly good and included hot food, such as eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes in addition to the usual cereal, pastries, yogurt and toast. We were very happy with every aspect of our stay at this hotel and definitely will stay there again for future road trips!!

    2
    « Service on a Broomstick »

Often stay at Best Westerns and this was one of the worst I could imagine. Yes, it is a "freeway motel" so I didn't expect a "resort experience" but the rooms were ugly and dated with pieces of molding falling off the walls. TV remote was screwed up and the toilet was the most uncomfortable "throne" ever. With the door closed you could barely fit your knees. They did not say the property was under construction (lobby only but significant disarray) when I made the reservation and the rate did not reflect the inconvenience. MOST IMPORTANTLY... the woman checking us in was totally on her broomstick and belittled the construction issues. She should not be working in a service industry. My husband gives everyone the "benefit of the doubt" but felt she was one of the few women who deserves to be called the C-Word. The only plus side was that the free breakfast was better than average.

    5
« Best Hotel and Restaurant in Shasta County »

Clean updated rooms, very nice restaurant and bar. Fantastic HOT breakfast included with your stay. When visiting Redding this is the only choice for business or pleasure. The Food in CR Gibbs (inside of the hotel) is one of the best /on trend restaurants in the region. Knowledgeable servers and fun bartenders

    « Really good... »

Before I write the review for this great property, I would like to issue a heads up for those contemplating booking with Agoda ( seems to be affiliated with Trip Advisor)... Don't...but if you decide to, be sure you know what you are getting. May sound good, but not....ended up costing me extra and probably no BW points....stick with Booking.com....so much better and in most cases the best rate However, this property is great. Yes their reception area is under construction, but no real problem. We enjoyed their pool and hot tub (very clean). The room was large, well equipped and very clean also. Best part is the wonderful restaurant attached to hotel...how nice not to have to go out for dinner. Also an incredible breakfast in the morning with plenty of food and lots of room to enjoy it. The reception staff was sympathetic to my booking plot and we're pleased to offer me a reasonable solution.....a good location near the freeway...easy to get on and off...

    5
« Superior breakfast in their restaurant comes with room rate. »

We were passing through and spent little time in our room. They currently have remodeling construction in the foyer and you have to use a side entrance to check-in. There was only 1 person at the desk but she was fast, efficient, and multi-talented it seemed. Room was clean, quiet on the side away from the pool. This is in a great location for finding meals, fast-food or fast casual chain. It is an easy 2 mile drive over to the Sundial bridge for an evening stroll. Their free breakfast was an extraordinary buffet that I've paid dearly for at big name resorts. Superior!

    2
« Poor location of non smoking rooms »

The Air conditioning unit of the non smoking room was located next to a smoking area where ash trays and a sitting wall were located. The room was located directly below where the ice machine, concessions and laundry was located. The mechanical equipment buzzed all day and night.

    4
« Good Place to Stay »

The hotel is two stories with outside entrances to the rooms. We had a first floor room and could back the car right up to the door - convenient for taking luggage out of car. Rooms were old style but modernized. Only complaint about rooms is that every outside noise gets transferred into the room. Early risers with their rolling luggage were particularly annoying. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The attached restaurant (CR Gibbs) is well worth going to. Food is good and it is very convenient. Front desk staff were offering a $20 coupon at restaurant for $10. Complimentary breakfast at the restaurant was also good.

« Great 3-star hotel with great breakfast »

Family of two adults one child stayed two nights visiting Lake Shasta and Wiskeytown Lake. This hotel was on a Hillstop Blvd on a strip of many other hotels. It is next to freeway 40 and 5, very conveniently located for driving to activities in the Shasta area. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping plazas in immediate vicinity along the street. A block down we dinnered at Black Bear Dining - a must visit. Rear side of the hotel was facing the freeway, but noise was minimal when we close the door - noise insulation was very good. Hotel room was PERFECTLY cleaned daily, the room was clean, not worn, bathroom was absolutely clean. Plenty of good quality towels provided, a small clean perfectly operating refrigerator in the room; wardrobe for clothes, chairs and a table, large mirror in the bath and tall mirror on the bathroom door. AC was working adequately, no noise, no too cold/hot - just perfect. Rooms were facing towards South- West however windows were equipped with blackout curtains, so no heat or bright light were experienced. Outside temp was around 90-95 in the weekend we stayed. Swimming pool was nice and clean, heated. Jacuzzi was next to it. All clean and surrounded with fence/vegetation for privacy. Plenty of parking spots around the building, so everyone could essentially park in front of his room. There was a guard at night patrolling the property. Personnel was nice, helpful and professional. hotel provided a complementary breakfast in the restaurant next to the lobby - VERY good rich breakfast with two types scrambled eggs, two types sausages/beckon/ham, waffles, pancakes, panned toasts, milk, coffee, juices, Danon yogurt, milk an cereal, teas, etc. etc. Breakfast was restaurant level, but free. We had friends at other nearby hotels and we talked about this, their breakfast were not the same. this was big part of the hotel experience, since it allows to save time in the morning, besides saving money. Hotel was absolutely worth its 3-star - not Las Vegas, not a dump hole, but exactly worth the stay. It is not the cheapest, but it depends on your perceived value I would rate it a good deal for family of 3-4 that fit in a single room with 2 queen beds. It is going to be my primary consideration in future trips to the area. Just to iterate - very CLEAN and organized, everywhere.

    « BAD, DOn't Suggest. »

I order 2 queen bed room on 9/3/2016-9/5/2016, but the reciption give me a king bed room, I felt dissatisfied because I paid the 2 queen bed room but didn't get the fair service. Althrough, the reciption told us we can change to 2 queen bed at 2nd night, but it is nothing mean to us, because our travel mood was detroy by it. I have ask the reciption why I get a king bed room, he said we order from the 3rd web site (priceline) and they only pass there are 3 person and only need 1 room for them. I don't know where is the problem in this case, but in customer view, we are REALLY REALLY felt dissatisfied. I hope you can give me a reason what's wrong in it.

« Great Place to Stay »

I have stayed here before and reviewed it but I didn't show photos of the lobby and CR Gibbs Restaurant. The staff here is really friendly. The place is close to the freeway but was pretty quiet. The room was clean and comfortable so I plan to stay here again. The restaurant that is connected has great food so if you are tired and don't want to go out after you check in, you should drop in.

    « Great Stay! »

We were initially planning to stay at the Hilton in Redding but after a few bad experiences with them, we decided on Best Western. I was not expecting much from the hotel but we had a lovely time. The staff was very polite, the bathrooms were huge and very clean and the best part was the bed. The mattress was extremely comfortable. One of the best night sleeps I have had in a hotel. The only draw back is that the rooms have a carpet which I was not happy.

« Must Stay when in Redding California »

I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions, and each time it always exceeds my expectations. The place is always clean. The staff is always ready to assist and every need you may have. The breakfast is better than any 'free' breakfast I have ever had, at any place, anytime, period. Great added on value for staying at this Best Western.

    « Not quite plus »

Wasn't that impressed for a plus version. Buffet was more like the lower tier except it had real plates and utensils instead of paper and plastic. Made the mistake of having dinner at their restaurant by purchasing a $20 coupon for $10. Wasn't worth it. Meals overpriced and my wife's was too spicy and she couldn't eat it. We should have checked as there were plenty of better restaurants close by.

Stayed here for a trip to Lassen National Park and found it to be a nicely done hotel, have a nice pool and hot tub and a great breaskfast service. Lobby is well done and the rooms are very clean and neat, Beds were extremely comfortaaaable

The BW Pl;us in Redding was what i have come to expect from BW Plus hotels. The room was very comfrotable and the breakfast was at the restaurant off the lobby. The pool area was one of the nocecer ones I have seen. I would definitely recommend this hotel

« Hilltop Inn okay but noisy »

We stayed here to gather reward points - had stayed there some years back and thought it was okay. Not so happy this time. Second floor room was not easy to access. Stair cases are configured strangely - ended up going both up and down stairs to get to our room. Parking was not great - too many rooms and not enough spaces. Neighborhood seems a bit sketchy. Restaurant was really noisy and we were looking for a quiet place to have dinner. Not there. This is a busy place. Room was clean and everything worked. No microwave, though. Probably would opt for another hotel in future.

« Good place to stay... »

We booked this hotel on the spur of the moment after changing some vacation plans. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. The first room we were given was a LONG way from the parking area and front desk and when we got there our card wouldn't work. We went back down to the front desk and asked for a closer room and that worked out much better. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, although the bathroom was quite warm, so we propped open the door to get some A/C in there. The breakfast was good, but the dining area is quite small so you might have to gauge when you should go.

    « Excellent Hotel »

We were just travelling through on our way home from a ten day road trip. The greeting staff were extremely helpful. The room was spacious and bed very comfortable. Never ending hot water for showers. Really enjoyed the evening mean in the restaurant as well as the buffet breakfast the following morning. Would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were extremely friendly.

    « Adequate -- not a top choice »

The hotel was adequate but not really a top choice for Best Westerns. The room was noisy in the morning with the neighbors, but the pool was clean if over chlorinated. The staff was courteous and the location was solid. The room was supposedly renovated, but I would expect something nicer. I booked through Hotels.com for $150 a night and was told they have block of rooms -- not sure if these are the best room, but I won't be booking this hotel again.

« Not bad not great »

Stayed here during the week for a work conference, which we held in the larger of their two meeting spaces. I'll start there, the room itself is a nice size with working AV, round tables with tablecloths. Temperature is hard to maintain, it's either hot or cold and the unit makes a very loud hum. Also, the lights have several different functions but it's hard to find an option that doesn't shine right on the projector screen. The room is also alongside the pool and has an exit to the outside, across from a room with no curtain option (looks like it broke off). It's also adjacent to a loud kitchen (by a set of double doors). The rooms are fine. No floor length mirror which seems like an odd choice. I had to stand on a coffee table in front of the bathroom mirror to make sure I was presentable. The hotel itself is a bit dated, the area is a little dodgey and the rooms are outside entry and not very accessible. Sort of a pain with heavy luggage with several sets of stairs with a lone elevator out of the way. Staff has been friendly and accommodating and the restaurant has been pretty tasty!

    « hmmmm »

So it is 11.30 at night, you have a family with a 6 year old show up - and you tell them there is no room available while there is you are simply not qualified to do your job. We unexpectedly had to stay the night in Redding. We were high up in the mountains with (almost) no wifi signal but could tell from the HotelTonight app that there was availability. After a 10 hour drive arrived at this BW, where one of the front desk ladies immediately stated if you do not have a reservation you have to leave we have no rooms available. I mentioned that the Hoteltonight app did show availability and went ahead and booked the room while standing at the front desk. She was not amused and mentioned that I had to request a refund from Hoteltonight since she did not have a room. Her colleague even called the Hilton to ask if they had a room but they did not, so the lady stated well that means you have to travel to another BW. Really ? All of a sudden her colleague (who was actually really nice) did find a room. A room for emergencies. Well it had a king bed and a fold out sofa so we were happy. But how on earth can you tell a family with 3 kids at first that you do not have a room, and 10 minutes later you do have a room, when the guest is persistent. Bad call BW.

    « Nice location & quiet »

We have had difficulty finding a hotel that accepts dogs when traveling from Olympica, Washington to L. A. Best WEstern Plus Hilltop was a perfect fit for us. OUr room was close to dog area, on the first floor, and quiet. Breakfast was a nice perk. Will definitely remember it for future trips. We arrived after 9pm, so the in house restaurant was closed, however there are plenty of restaurants in the area.

« The staff make this place wonderful! »

After our motor home broke down and we were left with nowhere to go while it was in the mechanic shop, KAYLA at the front desk helped lighten our burden by giving us a great room for a great price. Our kids loved the pool and we had a little time to relax and enjoy the hot tub, the breakfast was delicious and more than filling and the room was clean and spacious. They even kept the pool open later than normal so our kids could be kids and not be cooped up in a hotel room. The next day we had to spend time at the mechanic and after finding out our motor home needed a new motor, we had to rent a car to try and salvage our vacation and get the kids to Disneyland. The staff gave us late check our and even some coupons to the restraint attached to the hotel. I can't rave enough about our experience. The best part of our time in Redding was getting to meet all the nice people at this hotel and knowing that there are still good people in this world. IF we have to go back to Redding we will stay here again.

Met up with some family for one evening and stayed here. It was busy, during spring break. The room was clean, the bathroom was tired and old looking though. The Breakfast was really nice, large selection and again, clean areas. would stay again if in the area, close to on and off freeway and close to In and Out Burgers.

Over all it was decent . Nothing extravagant here . I liked the grill they had attached to the hotel that was pretty good . Not a big fan of the motel style hotels though. This location was good though right off the freeway. It's an old building that has been updated

Large room with shower and extra large bath tub. Well decorated. Very good A/C, Breakfast was a better than average buffet, served in attached restaurant so lots of room for people and food. The cable was out but they got it fixed quickly.

« Nice Property but they overcharge »

We are B/W Gold card members and have stayed at many, many Best Westerns over the years. And never, never have we been charged for a simple bottle of water. But tonight, as we walked through the lobby we asked for a bottle of water - we are a senior couple, retired military and have traveled the world, and the desk clerk was going to charge us $2 each for a simple bottle of water. It spoiled our opinion of this hotel and we would consider this if we ever pass this way again. It's called "hospitality," and this hotel failed. "hospitality"

This hotel will give tripadvisor or other web based services a very bad room at first. We were told that this is their policy. My grandson and I arrived in Redding at the Best Western after a very long drive from Idaho, We were greeted by a friendly staff and our check in was very quick and hassle free which I appreciated after such a long day of driving. We found our room and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and the modern amenities. The table and night stands had beautiful granite tops which were very nice. The flat screen tv was nice as well. The air conditioning worked very well and was nice after a hot 102 degree day. We headed to the pool and found it to be very clean and very refreshing! There was plenty of room to lounge around and relax. The breakfast was amazing with tons of choices and the restaurant amenities were much nice than hotels with just a small little eating area. We enjoyed bacon, eggs, potatoes, waffles fresh fruit and an array of juices and plenty of hot coffee!! We enjoyed every part of our stay and will definitely be staying there again !! Thank you for everything !!

This hotel is amazing for families. the parking is right by the rooms, and they have free dvd rentals for every age group. The pool and hot tub are always clean. The pool area is huge with plenty of seating, and the pool itself is the largest I've seen! The hotel bar is a short distance away also which serves the best margaritas I've had! I stay at a lot of hotels and I always choose the best western plus whenever I go to Redding, ca!

The hotel was clean and the staff was exceptional nice!! They were more then willing to help with anything and were really wonderful with my kids. I pool was very nice and the shade areas with all the vegetation near the pool made it feel more private. The breakfast was good to and the staff did not seem to mind the little bit of craziness I bring with trying to get breakfast for three little kiddos.

« Great breakfast and amenities »

I was very happy with our stay here. The pool was great and heated! Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast at the attached restaurant was the best I've had for a free buffet, lots of choices. Overall I would definitely recommend and return on our next trip. We almost missed it though as the sign was very small but the restaurant sign was very visible.

Hotel was comfortable. Rooms could use a little updating, but it was fine for a one night stop on a road trip with our two teenage boys. The best part was the hot breakfast buffet included with our stay! It's expensive to feed teenage boys! That was wonderful!

we used to stay at the Twin Views BW but the noise level finally got to us. The Hilltop is more expensive (by approx. $30) but we though worth it to get attached restaurant, swimming pool/spa and restful night of sleep, and it's a bit closer to town and other restaurants and stores. we had room facing courtyard and slept with window open, it was quiet enough. just wish rooms had microwave, otherwise everything there you need.

We travel back and forth from Tacoma to Phoenix maybe two or three times a year. Sold our coach and returned to car travel so have been trying different locations and hotels. This is definitely going to be a permanent stop Room richly appointed and comfortable. Property is clean and paroled. We travel with a service dog and she was accepted well and was also comfortable, The restaurant, C.R. Gibbs, and lounge or not only a bonus but the food and drinks were great. Wine list is so-so but we are somewhat wine snobs.. well my husband is. Overall, we are excited to find a place we want to come back to.

    « Dirty glasses »

The two glasses in the bathroom had cling film over the top to give the illusion that they were sanitary and safe. A quick hold up to the light revealed smears, smudges, and spots: filthy. Many rooms face are right on the freeway with constant traffic noise. Just gross. Won't come back.

    4
« nice place good location »

The rooms might be a little small, but they are clean and comfortable. Its in a great location for shopping or what not. The negatives are you cant check in till after 4, there isn't a microwave in the room, and the pool closes too early. But I would definitely stay there again.

« Love Best Western Hilltop »

Overall a very enjoyable stay. The only reason I marked very good under sleep quality is because I don't sleep well with air conditioning on as it drys my eyes and mouth but very nice and cool. I prefer open window but as it was VERY HOT weather outside we needed the air on.

    3
« Rooms are average, price is above average »

« One of the 'Best' Best Western Hotels »

This was booked as a 2-night stopover between the north western National Parks and San Francisco; an antidote if you will, for the cool weather of the RM, Yellowstone, Glacier & Crater Lake NPs. These were all amazing (I have reviewed these elsewhere) but after 4000+ miles in 2 weeks, we felt like we needed a mini-break with a little heat. This is certainly what we got. The temperature was 40C on each of the 2 days and allowed us a couple of days, with a short excursion into Lassen NP, to spend a little time around the pool. I didn't realise that NorCal got this hot but it was welcome that it did. The hotel was centrally located and with one of the best breakfasts we have had on this holiday. Attached to the hotel is an American Grille, C. R. Gibbs and we ate dinner on both days here. Whilst it was a little pricey ($35/head), I couldn't fault the quality of the food and the terrific service. There was also a great selection of local craft beers; all at reasonable prices. A great hotel and one that we will return to.

We usually stop here from Marin county, CA only 4 hours from home and 2 more to go to Ashland. Premium rooms are quiet away from freeway and beds are comfortable. Daily newspapers, a great bar/bartender and buffet breakfast with everything from eggs, bacon, hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit are a plus. Mr. Gibb's restaurant, attached, has very good and amply sized portions. Checkout is a breeze.

    « A good place to stay »

Although it is getting a little old in terms of layout and room décor, this motel is still a good selection. It has a full-service restaurant on the premises, which is becoming rare, and a morning breakfast buffet with much more than is usually the case. The restaurant was noisy when I was there, but it was a Friday night-with the rodeo that weekend, so that may not be a continuing factor. The bed and room were both very comfortable, with easy climate control.

    5
    « Convenient »

Having a good restaurant in the hotel is definitely a PLUS. Expensive for dinner but the complimentary breakfast is a real breakfast. Not a continental, real! Kids love the pool and it is right off I5 and Hwy 44 near all the shopping. The bed was OK, worn out a bit though. All in all, good value for $110

We had a fantastic stay at the Best Western in Redding, due in large part to the wonderful staff. Rosie, in particular, was extraordinarily attentive and kind to our family! Make sure you don't stay on the highway side of this location as the trucks use their air breaks for the next freeway exit. Beds are hard. Staff didn't advice that the noise night be a problem. This is a busy property and the breakfast was crowded. It is sad that we couldn't sleep and just want to jump ship by morning.

I've stayed here before. It's always been great. The breakfast buffett in the restaurant is especially good. It's near the freeway but has no intrusive noise. Other hotels and restaurants down the street have some reported problems with transients/homeless. This property appears to avoid any such problems.

    « Horrible Experience »

My family needed a hotel for one evening on our drive back from Disneyland. We have three small children all under the age of 6. We came in late, around 930pm to get a room. We were given a room that was quite a trek around the building near the pool. Once there, we were met with a huge group of young people who were intoxicated, smoking, using foul language and the girls were exposing themselves to the guys. We hurried into our room which was on the bottom floor. A huge group of people went in and out of doors around us loudly, stood outside our window cussing, drinking and being obnoxious. I looked out of the curtain and I got stared down. When I opened the door one of them flipped me off. I called the office and was asked to move. They moved us and then made excuses for the people saying that "they didn't know they were in front of our window" We had to relocate to the other side of the building and even over there it was loud and people around us seemed to not care about any noise ordinance. The room smelled musty (the second one) and on the roll away bed the blanket was dirty and smelled. It was just a terrible experience for the price

I love this hotel, I stay here about 3 or 4 times a year and have been doing that for almost 12 years. Over those years I have stayed at many of the other hotel in the area but the Hilltop Inn is my favorite for a number of reasons not the least of which is CR Gibbs restaurant and lounge.. The rooms are excellent the beds are great always and the shower is fantastic.

I traveled from Bay Area to go see my Sister but got late start so I knew I would stop in Redding and Hilltop Hotel. What I didn't think about was it would be very busy at check-in but that was handled by a very professional person (Megan) and I was in a room in no time at a good price. The location wasn't to my liking so I asked for change of room and she made it fast and bottom floor room which was excellent location to be quite. Checking in to a hotel is important and being handled by such a warm person makes you feel good.

    « Not worth it. »

Would never stay there again, not up to Best Western Standards. Very Noisy room, small room, bad TV with poor signal and only a few channels that worked, low water pressure, smelly room, bed is not so great, fridge only, no freezer compartment, no microwave. Checkout staff was not very professional.

« Once upon a night in Redding »

There for a concert at the Civic Auditorium - the staff were delightful, but the beds weren't so great. Entrance, egress, and parking were excellent. The hotel is located near many restaurants and businesses.

    « Great Stay »

Very nice hotel, excellent restaurant on site, clean, comfortable room. Friendly, courteous staff. All around excellent. Great stay, looking forward to going back again. Good location, price was right.

    « Great breakfast »

We stayed here last month on our way to Arizona and we plan to stay there again on our way back to Portland. The room was a little small for us but only because we shared the space with our bikes. The breakfast was one of the best we've seen. Lots to chose from, real plates and silverware to eat from and a very friendly and helpful staff.

    « A nice place to stay »

All in all our stay was enjoyable. Rosie was very helpful in helping us with our reservation. The rooms are nice and clean with standard amenities. The whole facility is well maintained. We had a slight issue with the heater in our room. It never seemed to put out any real heat. The free breakfast is the same as all other Best Western Plus motels i have stayed in. The front desk offers Complimentary DVD rentals for the DVD player in rooms. While we enjoyed our stay, I can't say that I would do it again just because the price. I have a hard time staying in a hotel when 1 night stay is equal to one eighth of my monthly mortgage.

« Best in Redding, from a Reddingite »

This is definitely the best stay in Redding, and the place we recommend to visiting family and friends. The owners are lovely, community-minded and active folk, the restaurant - CR Gibbs - is frequented by locals for their consistently great fare, fun drinks, and lovely new patio. If you're looking for a clean, modern, centrally-located stay in Redding that is loved by locals, this is your spot!

    « GREAT PLACE »

I always stay at the Best Western Plus in Redding,Ca .They have a very caring staff and great service .Plus it is a great benefit to have CR Gibbs connected to the Hotel the Bar Staff are excellent as well as the food service staff

    « Great customer service! »

We have stayed at this hotel last year and this year returned because of the excellent customer service. The hotel is very clean and the free breakfast in the restaurant has a nice selection of items for everyone.

« Restaurant Ambiance and Friendly Staff »

I have stayed periodically at the Best Western Hilltop for Business. As a woman traveling alone, I have found the rooms very accommodating, the staff easily recognizes you to ensure your comfort. One can eat alone or with friends and receive par excellence service in the Restaurant as well as the lounge area and their reassurance when meeting friends that a booth (my preference) will be available even if friends are a little late. The food is very reasonable as well as tasty. Their shrimp bowl, fresh and delicious as well as the calamari appetizer. Order from the menu or the specials as all is good!

    « quiet hotel »

had a nice stay .good location lots of nice dinning options good breakfast buffet ,the rooms were clean but outdated nice outdoor seating at breakfast, I would expect some sort of suites at this hotel but could not find any online at this location.

    « No way a Plus! »

There is no way this is a Plus! We stayed at the BW Plus in Redding the night before and there is no comparison. Apparently Plus BW's are not standardized. In Redding they provided a fabulous breakfast and we ate on real plates with real silverware. This morning's breakfast was meager and the plates and utensils were paper and plastic. The room in Redding was well appointed. The room here in Riverside is dated. Beware, not all BW Plus hotels are equal!

    4
    « Not great prices »

The hotel is fabulous, the interior and amenities were good, the only issue is the prices, for someone in my age range (21) the prices can be a little high, I payed $135 for ONE night. Kinda insane if you are just trying to get away for a night or just a weekend. Try to look around and find better deals.

    5
    « Great Location....... »

Price seemed a little high but it included a full and very satisfying breakfast. When you take in consideration of the price you'll pay for breakfast for two elsewhere, I feel it was a good value. A great hot breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, french toast, cereal and more. I do hope that they will take it into consideration to offer more juice other than just orange juice. The room was clean and had everything we needed or wanted. FYI, no microwave for those who have a need for one. Room was clean and decarated with pictures of the areas outdoor recreational destinations. The pool experience was very satisfying, the temperatures of both pool and hot tub was just right for February clement. Could not ask for a better location, this motel is within walking distance of EVERYTHING! We only booked for one night but we enjoyed it so much we stayed for two.

    « Gateway to Redding »

Centrally located in Redding, and just steps away from an awesome view of Mount Shasta. We experienced comfortable accommodations with attached restaurant made this a winner. Thought the warm outdoor pool was a classy touch.

    « Personal Stay »

Nice facility, great breakfast. Easy to find off of I-5. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was available at 6 AM which works for our travel schedule. Some places to not have breakfast available until 7 and that gives us a late start, which we do not like.

« Good option in Redding »

We like the Hilltop for pet friendly travel. They do put you on the freeway side of the hotel, so bring ear plugs. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the dog walk area is adequate and safe. Ground floor exterior entry is nice with pets. Overall a nice property right off I-5, so if you are traveling this makes a good stop point. The in Hotel restaurant is good for Dinner.

    5
« Great hotel to spend time while travelling »

Enjoyed being able to eat, workout, and lounge in one location.Would like to be able to use my rewards points at whatever Best Western I choose to stay at, instead of having to go through Corporate. I have found that this policy in not the same in all Best Western Hotels.???

    5
    « None Better »

I have stayed at 24 different BW hotels in the last 12 months and this one was the Best by far. The one difficult problem I had was addressed by the property manager personally and his resolution greatly exceeded my expectations. He took ownership of the problem, did the requisite research and suggested a solution that was more than satisfactory. It is plain to see why his staff is so efficient and courteous with his leadership. The non-BW hotels I stayed at can NOT hold a candle to this hotel.

    5
    « Easy access, freeway »

Very nice and homey hotel. The staff is very accommodating to guests. The location is close to travel route and close to shopping areas. Restaurant has very good food and the service was great. One of my favorite places to visit.

« Overall excellent three nights »

We stayed here once before about 19 months ago. We enjoyed the overall experience then; and, we thought the room and service was better this time throughout our three night stay. We checked in late night and got a very satisfactory room in the area we requested earlier in the day. We like a room on the second floor facing both the pool and back parking lot. The room was meticulously clean, WiFi came in strong. The room heater was satisfactory, but moderately noisy. It never woke us but we had to turn up volume on TV went it turned on. We asked for a second blanket on the first morning and it was there for our second evening. Overall the room was comfortable with a king bed, three cushion sofa, and work desk. Breakfast is included. The hotel is attached to a nice restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and either French toast, pancakes, or waffles. Also available was hot oatmeal cereal, w/dried fruit. Coffee and orange juice was very good. The restaurant was comfortable for well presented breakfast; unlike hurried, cramped experiences we have in many other hotels. I would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Very Clean »

All Best Western are very clean, good friendly people working for them, very friendly, helpful. The service and quality that you get for a night stay or a week stay you can expect a clean room good food and very good warm friendly staff

    3
« It was just Okay »

A bit disappointed with the accommodation with this being a "Best Western Plus". I would say this is a very standard hotel looks better from the curb. The rooms are small and dated, the restaurant is worth going to and the buffet in the morning was good.

« almost as good as home ! »

room was great ! nice bed , nicely decorated room , had everything but a microwave in the room ! the heater was loud so I turned it off ! people and staff were very friendly ! breakfast was from 6 to 10 am ! it was all very good I they had orange juice but no apple juice my husband always gets the oj and I always get the apple juice the layout of the food was excellent

    « Redding Best Western »

The room itself and the hotel were excellent. We arrived at the Best Western without a reservation. I had looked online and found there was a room available so we decided to go to the property and not waste time reserving online. The staff at the reservation desk were extremely rude and condescending, requiring us to make the reservation online. Then they made us wait forever while they helped other guests although we were there first. It took all of 45 minutes to get checked in. However, once checked in we loved our room, the bed was amazing! The breakfast was also very good with lots of choices. The food was hot and refreshed often.

    2
« Paid too much for the room »

The property looks great on the outside, but the room I was given was dingy and old. I am not sure how clean it was other than the bathroom which was acceptably clean. CRGibbs the eatery has fair food, but they are far too proud of their menu.

    « Family friendly »

The place is great for families. We walked into a dazzling Christmas tree with owls that my daughter liked. The rooms were comfortable and the fitness center had good equipment. The restaurant had a great buffet. I definitely recommend the hotel.

    5
« Best Western Hilltop Redding »

Great location and easy on and off I-5. Beautiful entrance area! Rooms are the usual Best Western style although my room had a large mirror surrounded by deer antlers-pretty kewl! The price is a little high in my opinion but the location dictates. Breakfast was very good and all the hotel personal were on their "A" game. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby!

    5
    « Clean, Comfortable, Quiet »

Stayed one night in an upstairs room in the middle of the motel overlooking the parking lot. Felt secure staying here. Parking lot was well lighted and appeared to have a security patrol. The lobby is accessible from the second floor and flows into lobby. Nice feature especially in wet weather. I think we would have enjoyed a dinner or lunch at the restaurant. Good for easy access to on and off the freeway.

    5
    « High Class!! »

I was impressed with the decor and overall look of the hotel and the rooms. Very inviting and the breakfast was one of the best I've had at a Best Western. All staff working on Christmas day were upbeat and happy. I'd love to go back when we have more time to enjoy the amenities.

    « 12/2815 »

Really good value. Thankful for the $25 restaurant credit (Hotel Tonight) which made our late dinner much easier and nicer. Having a selection of complimentary DVDs was a nice surprise...we were able to bribe our five year old with the promise of a late night cartoon so long as she ate and behaved well at dinner. Great, friendly service. Really good hot breakfast buffet. My wife left her purse and it was collected and held for safe keeping until I came back after church. There were to-go cups at the coffee bar at breakfast so I could take it with me, good coffee, too. Probably the best hotel experience I've ever had. Thank you, we will visit again.

« Dreadful hotel for those traveling with pets »

This review is primarily for those with pets... Do NOT stay at this hotel. Here's the review: The front desk clerk seemed very helpful, telling me they had the best restaurant in town and that they would give me a $20 credit if I paid an extra $10 at check in. Of course I wasn't allowed to leave my small dog in the room, so I asked for take out. Restaurant greeter was cheerful and took my order for Oriental chicken salad... A $15 item on the menu... I thought the grilled chicken would be a nice treat I could share with my dog. After waiting 15 minutes or so, out comes my meal. I walk the long trip to the very back of the hotel and open my meal. Surprise! My salad consisted of a bunch of greens with carrot strips, red bell pepper, and some almonds on top. No chicken, no crispy noodles... McDonalds does a better oriental salad! Okay, I think... Just have a hot bath. Cheap grooming items in the room, luckily I brought my own. Bath okay... not lots of hot water, but they do have a water shortage in California... still, it wasn't really hot water. Ok, just get a good nights sleep. My location at the hotel was determined by the owner who decided to put all pet owners at the far back of the hotel. The problem with being at the back of the hotel is that you are about 25 yards from I-5, so you can imagine the noise. I was exhausted when I got here so figured I could get used to the noise... But the bed was so bad, no padding, just like sleeping on a rock, woke up several times in the night due to pain to my shoulders & hip. (I'm a side sleeper.) One more thing, my dog was very interested in the carpet - I travel with her all the time, and I've never seen her do this at any hotel except maybe a Motel 6. So I doubt it was super clean. In fact there is a Motel 6 across the freeway - I bet I would have had a better night there for far less than $155! I stopped staying at Best Western hotels due to hotels like this one. I plan to share my experience with them as well-how can this nightmare hotel receive the "Plus" designation?

    5
« Nice Hotel After Long Road Trip »

The customer service was exceptional! Brenda at the front desk provided the best customer service, I can not say enough. Best Western should be proud to have an employee that goes above and beyond like she does. The rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant is great, nice bar and great food.

    5
    « CLEAN AND SAFE »

After driving over 500 miles I was extremely tired and hungry. I am a senior female and wanted a clean and safe place to stay. My overall experience was wonderful and I will stay there again on my next travels.

    « Comfort and Value »

Convenient location, near sundial bridge and convention center. We were unfamiliar with the Redding area, but the hotel staff was helpful by providing us with local maps and directions. Would use this hoyel again when in the area.

    « GREAT restaurant - GREAT staff. »

The staff was very accommodating and it was because of their recommendation that we try their restaurant for dinner that we did. I was shocked at the quality of this restaurant. Didn't look like we would be getting the meal we did. Happy hour was great - 24 peel & eat shrimp for only $5 and they were delicious. However, the entire meal was just fabulous - best steak dinner we have had in, can't remember how long. Roasted vegetables, great demiglaze on the steak and don't forget dessert. Really good homemade Snicker's Pie. Not something we would usually order but the people next to us had it and said - order it! :-) It was packed and we can see why. Will make this hotel and restaurant a regular 'pit stop' on our trips back and forth from Seattle to California.

    « Excellent stay »

Very pleased with the staff, service, food and room. They couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful. We thought we saw someone hanging out in the parking lot in their car for quite awhile, called the front desk, they sent security over there, the person had gone, and they called us back, stating if we saw anything else to let them know right away. My son left an expensive pillow in the room, we called later that day, were assured they had it and would keep it for us. We stopped by on our way home a few days later, called an hour before we got there, and the pillow was waiting for us at the front desk. Very pleased. The hotel is right next to the freeway, so request a room away from that side. That entire street of hotels in Redding is unfortunately in the same predicament. But not a deal breaker.

    5
« You should stay here. »

I can't say enough how wonderful our stay has been here at the Best Western Plus Hilltop... The staff are all kind and friendly people. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable. We came for one night but decided to stay for two because we were so pleased with the experience. The bar/restaurant attached C.R. Gibbs is absolutely delicious. Friendly faces work there and the food is honestly wonderful. Best happy hour I have seen in a while is between 4-6, amazing specials on food and drink. The hotel and restaurant compliment each other fantastically. If you're staying in this area, I promise you should stay here. Thanks again!

    « It's Really 3 Stars Plus »

Yes, this is an older hotel; that's the bad news. However, it is perfectly located (close to everything), it is amazingly clean (both interior and exterior), their complimentary breakfast was above average - hot and cold presented in their contiguous restaurant, and the room, albeit small, is very nicely done and shows no sign of wear. One very cool thing about a motel, vs hotel is that you drive right up to your room, which is so nice for a one night stay. We would definitely stay again!

    4
« Great breakfast and great hotel! »

We've stayed at this hotel twice now going from Orange County up to Vancouver WA. We had tried a couple other hotels in the area but this one wins hands down. Awesome staff, very professional and courteous. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Love the hot breakfast and the serving staff there. Really look forward to pulling in to their parking lot after a long drive!

    3
« Disappointed with the room »

We booked this room for 2 days based on the reviews we read on-line. The outdoor pool area was nice enough but the room was very old and loud. The heater did not work very well. The bed was hard and the blanket had an odor to it.

    « Sunday the 29th of November »

We always stay at Hilltop on our way South. Never consider another place because we love the service and the amenities and it's easily located right off the freeway. And it's clean and everyone is very friendly and accommodating.

« Great spot in Redding! »

Great hotel with easy access and ample parking. Very welcoming staff and clean comfortable quiet rooms. The restaurant happy hour was very good! Great prices and excellent food! Highly recommend if you are going to visit Redding.

    1
    « LOUD »

We had a pet room in the back. Staff told me the room would be very quiet and nice since it was newly renovated. I could hear everything! Everything the neighbor did - tv, shower, toilet, sink, walking (upstairs), and every car or semi truck on I5, and every person that walked by our room. The room was old looking, bed was hard. Hotel lobby is beautiful, its like they stuck a nice lobby on a really old hotel. Dinner was amazing, breakfast so-so. Pet area was long and very narrow, and lots of dog poo in the grass.

    3
    « Disappointing »

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Freeway noise was quite loud when the heat was not running. When we stepped off the elevator we had 5 different possible directions to go and no signs to tell us in which direction was our room. Giving us a map of the layout would have been helpful. We eventually went back to the front desk to take another look at their laminated map and then found our room. Breakfast did not live up to the website info. It also was not as described by Rosie when we called prior to making the reservation. We were told there would be sausage and bacon: no sausage; website says waffles or French toast: syrup was available but no waffles or French toast. Probably the only hotel breakfast I've had that offered only one juice option: orange (tasted watered down). All the yogurt contained artificial sweetener. Only one choice of bread for toasting: white. The buffet was only refilled when guests told the staff that something was empty - but the large tip jar was prominently displayed. We stay atBest Western Plus hotels many times during the year, across the US. This one did not live up to our expectations. We are thankful that we found a low rate on Travelocity - paying BW price would have made it harder to "swallow". We would have shared this information with the hotel staff but the desk person at check-out did not ask how our stay was. Didn't seem to matter him. We won't be back.

    5
    « Great hotel! »

Everything was good except the girl at check in. She did not listen when we were explaining what we wanted. She'd repeat stuff back to us and it would be the complete opposite of what we actually said, which happened at least 3 times. She never looked at us, she was too busy looking down at the computer, which is fine, but look up once in a while. Otherwise, the beds were comfy, the appearance was excellent, breakfast was good, etc.

    « My opinion of B.W. Hotels »

I have been a member of BW for some years. My stay there has dropped off just recently, mainly because of increased per night pricing. I have been returning to BW hotels because of the cleanliness of the rooms and the good breakfasts.

    « Pleasent Surprise »

We were just passing through and tired. front desk very helpful arrived at a fair price. Even though it is an outside style Hotel, it seemed very clean organized on the out side walk to the room. the room itself felt clean and inviting, and to top it off the breakfast was fabulous, yes Real food at the hotel restaurant buffet. I would go back again.

    5
    « Great value »

Love this hotel. It's so convenient to have a nice restaurant and bar in the hotel. No need to go anywhere for meals after a long drive. Breakfast is awesome! The pool is very nice on a hot day and hot tub too! Fitness center with TV is great.

« Unfortunately, not what I had hoped. »

I thought this would be a nice little retreat on a road trip from Eureka to Lake Tahoe. It was in the middle of our journey. When I arrived the pictures were not what it appeared to be online. Do not be fooled by the pretty pictures on the site. The rooms feel nothing more than a Motel 6. I paid for the best room they had and it was smelly, stuffy, thin walls, had what looked like saran wrap on their water glasses by the sink, an outlet that didn't work, sheets that felt they were not changed, etc. Never mind that the staff was rude upon our arrival - we just didn't feel welcome, and the room made me feel like I was a woman on the run in a bad movie. You walk right from the parking lot into your room and it felt unsafe, at least to me personally. If I had to do this again, I would drive the extra hour up north to Mt. Shasta as there is a Best Western Plus there that we saw, with much prettier views and with access to even more beautiful roads leading into Lake Tahoe. Definitely worth the little drive north for a better stay. I simply cannot believe this got a 4-star rating. If none of this matters to you, then the one and only positive I can offer is that it's very easy access on/off the interstate. If that is your goal here, then this will work for you. If you're looking for a little retreat, Mt. Shasta is far better.

    « Best Western survey »

We were very pleased with the service we received from the staff. We had questions regarding the Best Western Rewards card and Megan took the time to explain and also informed us of a current 2 night stay promotion which we took advantage of. The place was pet friendly and we thought the cost was fair. The rooms were very clean and so was the parking lot and surrounding area. We enjoyed a hot breakfast in the morning and had plenty to choose from. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

« Stay in Redding CA »

First time at this Best Western and found the hotel, facilities, and restaurant great. Easy access off and on Interstate 5. Restaurant had very good selection and courteous wait staff. Travel the I-5 corridor a lot and would stay at this venue again.

    3
    « Proper Expectations »

This place gets trashed online and I am fairly sure this is because people expected too much for what they were paying. The place is definitely run down to the point where you might ask if you should even try to fix it -- but I found the staff to be friendly and helpful (despite reviews to the contrary) with decent enough beds, clean enough rooms and the water for my shower was hot. I know when I am staying at a place for 50-80 boks a night not to expect the Taj Mahal. On that note whoever owns this place is going for a tacky Taj Mahal look. It is quite amusing.

« Stay in Redding, Ca »

This was an excellent, well maintained and operated hotel. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. My elderly mother felt safe on the grounds, and enjoyed talking to the staff. The room was quiet and very clean and comfortable.

« Outstanding place to stay in Redding, Ca »

Staff is great, rooms are very well equipped, rooms have features most hotels and motels don't have. The quality of the breakfast was as good as you could get. There was something for all types of diets. Could not recommend a facility higher than this one, particularly in the Redding area.

    4
    « Great Location »

Hotel is quiet and makes a good home base for everything in the area. Hotel breakfast is above average with lots of hot food. The restaurant is a bit expensive and has limited menu but the food is tasty. I stay at this hotel every time I come to this town.

Great Beds, Great Breakfast Buffet at CR Gibbs Restaurant located in the hotel, Nice Modern Bathroom, Sanitized TV Remote Control The Freeway Noise in the rooms in the back of the hotel can be very noisy as it is very close (right behind parking places). Air Condition works very well on hot days but it can be noisy as well. Nice Lobby and Restaurant Area. good WiFi This is an older remodeled Hotel and all the room doors open to outside where it can be very warm day and night in Redding. I have stayed here over 6 times (I like Best Western) but always seem to end up in the rooms in the back.

« Good Lodging in a Convenient Location »

This is an upgraded motel with complimentary breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. As a motel, rooms are accessed from the outside. An elevator was added to provide second-floor access for guests with limited mobility. The complimentary buffet breakfast is one of the better ones offered by the establishments I've visited, as it seems to be prepared in a regular kitchen (many complimentary breakfasts have sort of an airline food quality to them), served in the CR Gibbs American Grille (on-premises restaurant) dining room. The staff is friendly; pool and fitness facilities (no weight scale) are provided. Convenient to eateries, shopping, downtown, and easy freeway access.

    5
« Superb value in Redding, CA »

We can't say anything bad about the facility, the staff or the restaurant. What we received seemed to exceed the value paid for our stay, but we appreciated BW keeping their rates reasonable. The room was nicely laid out, amenities were in place; a clean bathroom is a must and we got that. The beds were very comfortable. The TV wasn't working properly because the Texas Rangers lost to the Toronto Blue Jays. Could have been an error.

    « Great Stay »

I planned my entire trip around where I could stay at a Best Western Hotel and was never disappointed! The staff was friendly, the hotel clean and well cared-for. The rooms were well appointed and had everything that I needed. The breakfast that they served was outstanding and the service was excellent!

We stayed one night while traveling north. Staff were great at check in. We were offered the dinner upgrade which we took. Room was ok, clean. Noisy air system but the window could open. The h/vac system on the roof was noisy but wore earplugs to sleep and had a good sleep. Bed was good as were the room amenities. The restaurant is excellent! Fantastic evening meal and the included breakfast buffet was very good. Server for evening meal was excellent.

Hotel met my expectations. The room was clean, the food was delicious, wish the pool was a bit warmer as it wasn't a scorching day it was windy when we stayed and the pool wasn't heated. A bit of a concern with smokers loitering around my non-smoking room

This is a very quiet and clean BW. Dog friendly, good breakfast and very close to everything. The mall, Trader Joes, and many restaurants and shopping are 10 minutes or less away. Redding's beautiful Sundial bridge is close as well as the Turtle Bay Museum. Would definitely stay here again

after MANY hours on the road, we pulled into the Best Western Plus Hilltop Inn in Redding, CA. with no reservation, they had a nice comfortable room, plus free breakfast coupon for the morning. we'd been offered a dinner upgrade/coupon savings. if we decided to join them for dinner we simply stopped by the desk to tell them, rec'd upgrade and $20coupon off dinner. BEST dinner we'd had in a restaurant on our entire 3,000mile trip. VERY RELAXING, ENJOYABLE STAY. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST OVERNIGHT!

Check-in was fine, though the price quoted was higher than shown online. We were told this was because the room we were quoted was renovated and away from the freeway. We accepted that. However, if our room was recently renovated, they did a terrible job of it. The granite was nice but the carpets, bedding and bathroom finishes were ugly and/or mismatched. This is really more of a motel than hotel, with its exterior corridors. You can hear people passing by from inside your room. We could hear people's cars and yes, even the freeway. Wifi worked well. We went to the buffet breakfast, which was typical for a BW breakfast buffet. Nice to have eggs and meat options. The waffles, however, were like little bricks -- definitely sat in the warmer for way too long.
