Best Western Motala Stadshotell

Great location overlooking the square and the lake beyond. Easy walk to everything, including restaurants, grocery store, the harbor, and the walkway around the lake. I enjoyed eating breakfast outside on the patio.

Old building with promise but in need of renovation. Very odd decorations in the room we stayed in. Old furniture that smelled musty and a bathroom that was 20 plus years old. Find a better alternative. A good bar downstairs with a selection of beer was the only saving grace.

Booked 2 double rooms, one for the kids and one for us adults. The rooms were slight diff and dated overall, ours with a terrible views, see pics. Watching the staff having cigarette break wasn't pleasant after your breakfast. The breakfast was terrible!! Cheap juice, nasty coffee, 1 choice of yoghurt. Cheese and ham pretty much straight from the package. I know we are in corona times, and would have preferred a packed or plated breakfast. Some pastries would have been nice.

Stayed here 3 years ago and pleased to find things the same. We got a wonderful corner room; appreciate the fans in the rooms. Staff in the Breakfast/Bar/Restaurant were all friendly and helpful. Front Desk staff also very friendly and helpful

The room was OK, the reception straff was very nice, but the restaurant NOT... We ordened the trout, tasted OK, ordered a bottle of white wine also very good, but the service???? Such a big disappointment.... No one came and asked us if we would like one more bottle of wne, or coffee, or desserts, or..... anything. Such a great letdown. We are staying until tomorrow, but not expectiing anything extraordinary.... Not value for money in this hotels restaurant at all.

Great located right on the centrum square. Did visit during Vätternrundan and the nozy from outside was disturbing me the whole nice. The room was badly chilled and a fan or air condition would be approached

A good room with plenty of space. Comfortable beds, good showerA hotel well located in the center of Motala. It has nice well-appointed rooms that have comfortable beds. The shower and bathroom were clean and tidy. Towels were changed whenever you wanted. The breakfast was good. There could have been fruit yoghurt, there was only natural. The room was quite old but clean as expected. The breakfast was acceptable though the bacon didn't look very tasty. There are no parking spaces available, and surrounding parking spaces only allow 2h of (paid) use. Staff is terrible: when we arrived at 13.00 the door was locked, when calling the phone number they just said that the rooms were not cleaned yet and checkin starts at 15.00. Staff at breakfast doesn't talk to guests other than asking for the breakfast voucher which you absolutely have to hand to them every morning.

I stayed at the Stadshotel for five nights with my friends, one of whom is severely disabled and in a wheelchair. We had an very good time. The staff were very helpful and attentive to all of our needs. We enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast and several evening meals. The town and surrounding area gave us plenty of tings to do and see, despite being out of season.

Stayed here in october 2016 when i visited some old friends. Perfect and very close restaurants. Very great breakfast. I had to change room once, then it was perfect! i will be back in november! Thank you!

Too much expensive for the room and the given service, it is almost the level of Only 2 star hotel and you pay for 4 . There is no free parking so you should pay each 2 hours, I requested 2 twin beds and they provide with one matrice, Old buulding

I visited Vadstena with a handicapped friend, and this was the only hotel with a vacancy for handicapped in the area, although booked few months in advance. The crew made their best and even more to make us feel comfortable, including a physical check in the room with us to ensure everything is OK. As being 2 gents travelling together, we were given the adjacent room as well to ease our stay and enhance our comfort.

Stayed here for a family wedding, great location, great staff, elevator is a plus, wonderful views of the central square, the new bridge and the water. Although the hotel does not have parking, a 24 hour paid lot is very close by

This weekend we meant to visit Vadstena, to walk in the footsteps of Sancta Birgitta, but as every single hotel and B&B there were booked out, we ended up in nearby Motala. A charming city in itself, and well worth a visit. The hotel has made a good impression. We did not arrive until around midnight, so they phoned us up well in advance to tell us that the reception would close at 11 pm, and give us a code for the front door, and information on how to get inside. The hotel is the old town hall, converted into a hotel around 1920. Rather stately. The room is very big, comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. Coffee making facilities and a small fridge. The room faces the town square, with several outdoor restaurants that keep open til late. So if that bothers you, ask for a room facing the back. No traffic, though. Free wifi, which in our room at least, is irritatingly slow and unstable. No parking, which is a problem for me, as I drive an electric vehicle, and had hoped for parking with available electricity. There is communal parking 50 m away, not expensive. Nice and helpful staff, nice breakfast.

- nice reception - kinda DIY type hotel- has to dial 9 to call for front desk staff- but that was not a problem - front desk staff very welcoming- helpful- and fast - room is surprisingly big, and more than good enough - nice view over the city and the lake - bathroom is a bit smaller but then it's ok. Super clean too! No coment???? - points to note for first time traveller: - parking may bit tricky as you can't park in front of the hotel- has to park somewhere nearby- again no prob as some nearby walking exercise is good for you - super fast internet via Telia Wifi is greatest advantage! Never disappointed.

Stayed here many times thru the years and was never disappointed. It is an old hotel but reasonably well maintained and it has some charm. Rooms overlooking the town square are preferable and I never had problem with noise here. The rooms are large enough, a bit scruffy but clean. No minibar. The breakfast is nice and good Swedish standard. If you need to stay overnight in Motala, this is the place to stay. I never had problems to find a parking spot in the immediate nearby area.

When I opened the door to my room for the night I was very positively surprised by the sight of a very comfortable room. For a price of a single room I got a 2 room suite with a view of the Motala old square. The town is small and quiet so you will still get a good night sleep even with the street facing windows. The town itself is also a center of Sweden's Greatest Wonder – The Göta Canal.

A nice hotel located in the middle of city with walking distance to the georgous harbour. They serve a tasty breakfast as you can enjoy in their diningroom And the bed gives you a good night sleep. I can really recomended this hotel.

The room is great. A little pricy, but with jacuzzi, sauna and 3 seperates rooms it is great to stay... Unfortunatly just 2 nights for me, bur will come back to this hotel if I am in Motala erea again!

Nice and clean, small but very cosy room. Very nice girl at the front desk, I almost asked her to mary me :). The breakfast is good and included in the room. There is plenty of parking lots just outside the hotel.

The hotel in itself was OK. Clean rooms, very small bathroom, no AC. The room did not look as in the picture when you book on the Internet. Much simpler in reality. There is a Square in front of the hotel with a large outdoor restaurang that has an orchestra playing until 2 o`clock a.m. Extremely noisy. This is in the summer. You could not open the window because of the noise. A small fen was all there was to cool the room. No it wasn´t enough. Good breakfast with hot and cold dishes. Very good location close to the harbour and shopping.

This hotel bucks the generic trend with period furniture style throughout, antiques and fine old pictures in the corridors and rooms.The building once contained the old town hall and the old features have been lovingly maintained,and our bedroom was cozy with an old wood floor and white wooden furniture,very clean with extremely comfortable bed. An exceptionally good breakfast too,and atmospheric pub attached,however our room was very quiet.The hotel is on the pleasant main square of the city.
