« Great stay and great staff »

I had a great stay at the best western in midland Michigan when I traveled for work. The front desk girl Lana was exceptional in taking care of all my questions and needs. I would definitely stay here again and I can't wait to come back.

    « Lots to do »

We took our children to the hotel to celebrate a birthday. Across the parking lot is a bowling alley, game room, indoor mini gold, bumper car, lots to do. Pool area and hot tub are nice. Pretty decent breakfast. While they have a work out room, the equipment isn't great.

    5
    « Relaxing weekend »

Wonderful weekend get away! Enjoyed the pools, sauna and hot tub! Great service and clean rooms! Breakfast buffet was great..lots to pick from. The waffles were a hit with the kids. This is our 3rd or so time staying here. We'll be back again.

    5
    « Love This Place! »

We come here as a relaxing getaway, where our kids can swim and we can relax. Having the bowling alley, with all of its awesome things to do, so close is a great plus. The free breakfast in the mornings is great. We come here often and will continue to. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to relax and have fun!

« Business Trip / Convention Center Meetings »

The room was above average, the food was great with amenities like bowling, game room, putt putt golf, lounge were great! The only problem was the internet connection was not dependable. This is important for those doing business during down times in the Hotel.

    « Less than stellar »

We were encouraged to use this location by the host vendor of a conference I was attending, the facility is dated, dingy and not well kept. Several other attendees had a similar experience and have vowed to never return.

« Great People, Everything Clean and Working. »

Peaceful, Clean, Friendly, Plus, lots to do within 15 min of hotel. Thank You to all the staff. This place has two pools a hot tub and sauna indoors. Modern, recently updated rooms. Perfect place to visit with a group, or as a couple.

« fantastic cotomer service clean rooms FIRM BEDS! »

I am extremely impressed at the personalized care the entire staff shows when I come every week twice a week to your location in Midland. I am touched at the level of care the employees put into their work. Employees such as Carrie, Lana and jimmy thank you for all you do.The beds are firm the heat works well and the warm brick room feels like a home away from home. thank you Nikki, Louies, Brittney for keeping them well cleaned.

« Many Amenities and priced proportionately »

Jenna, made the check in quick and easy. She covered all the bases with amenities, wifi password, etc, and was very pleasant. The breakfast is great, many options like waffle maker and pancake maker. Comfortable beds and newly redecorated rooms.

    « nice place »

Great place to stay, kind of hard to get to coming from the south, but we found it. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast we delicious, busy but plenty of room to seat people. Pool looked to be very nice, but didn't use it.

    4
    « Very nice »

Clean hotel and rooms, friendly staff, nice breakfast.area and breakfast. Didnt use any amenities since i was just here for business, but very comfortable room. easy access, free parking, and nice room. Would definitely reyurn of in the area.

    « Nice place »

Very nice with helpful staff and good value for money. We would use this hotel again if we were in the area. The swimming pools, sauna and whirlpool were nice and the breakfast selections very good. The staff was very helpful in suggesting local attractions and restaurants.

    4
    « Very nice! »

Jenna was very helpful and friendly at the desk. Very nice hotel for a reasonable price! Rooms are clean and comfortable. Great shape for this place which has been here for years. We have stayed here before and will again. Very close to a lot of things to do.

« Best Western Valley Plaza Inn »

We had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional. Lana, at the front desk, was a pleasure to talk to and very helpful in answering our questions.

    4
    « Great value! »

This hotel provided all we were looking for and more. The room was nicely decorated and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was one of the better organized and equipped buffets. Very clean. The desk clerk, Jenna, seemed like working with a friend.

    4
    « Nice »

It was easy access off the freeway. The staff was quite friendly and very helpful. They even made it where we could have early check-in so that we would not be late to the family gathering that we were going to. The place was nice and clean inside and out. The breakfast that was offered was very good and with a nice variety of items to choose from. Would stay here again if we are in the area!

    5
    « Wedding accomodations »

Desk clerk Lana was very efficient ,courteous even while our transaction was interrupted by a rude foul mouthed individual that couldn't find the elevator or her room. Lana, directed another employee to escort the lady to her room. And, the smilwe never left her face. Employees like this are priceless.

    « Great Service »

Customer service at front desk was very professional. Room was clean. Did need more coffee and the desk clerk (Lana) brought more coffee to my room. Like the fact that there is a bowling alley and bar adjacent to the parking lot fun and relaxation. Also the hotel has a nice size pool. Breakfast is a standard continental.

    5
« Very clean and spacious and being remodeled. »

It is definitely an older motel, but the rooms are spacious, the front desk clerk was quick and pleasant. Since it was the week after Labor day, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the room was. The breakfast had multiple selections and the fresh fruit was, fresh.

    5
    « The Bestest Western »

I was in Midland for 2 weeks and my stay was phenomenal. The staff is very friendly and the girl that checked us in, Lana, was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast had a large variety and the rooms are spotless.

    3
    « Comfortable, but dated »

Nice big room. Facility not equal to other Best Western Hotels. Broken Hairdryer, scary looking half-repaired outlet in the bathroom. Dirty bathroom floor. Front desk needs lessons in customer service. Breakfast uncommonly wonderful.

    2
    « Bad »

Well the plumbing is terrible bathtub overflowed with black stuff coming out of it. The TV was terrible. We were told that they would fix it they didn't. They did adjust the price with them whenever I want to get my points for Best Western Rewards they didn't give them to me because they said I got it cheaper price. Are you kidding me! It was pretty clean but that's nothing more disgusting have a bad plumbing . I wouldn't say that this is a motorcycle friendly best western most of them are. My advice find a different one.

    5
« Very clean and comfortable! »

We had a very pleasant stay! The rooms were very clean. The internet worked very well. We liked the proximity to the event we attended (at the convention center across the parking lot.) The hotel was very clean and comfortable. We liked the checkout time being 12. We did not use the breakfast or the pool while we were there.

    3
    « Typical motel »

It is okay if you just want a place to sleep. It is nice and clean, but nothing special. They have a breakfast that is hardly worth going in for. The room is so dimly lit that it was impossible to read. The flat screen TV is good quality and has the connections if you bring a computer and want to watch a DVD or Netflix. It is nice that they don't charge for the WiFi. It was relatively low priced and near a family member we were in town to visit so we chose it. They have handicapped rooms, but none were available and the bathroom was uncomfortable without special facilities.

    1
« Cold Showers, Horrible Breakfasts, No Customer Service »

Random cold showers, promises to fix but never did. Biscuits and gravy every morning and they hide the yogurt because it is too expensive (this is what I was told). Dirty carpets that are not lying flat (bunched up in places).

« We stayed for snowcross »

This hotel is awesome. It's huge. We lived the pool and hot tub. The Mongolian buffet across the street is cheap and delishous. The staff was amazing. It was fun to walk around the hotel and check it out. Also has some cool banquet rooms for parties.. The hot breakfast was delish :)

« Do not stay here »

Save your money. This hotel needs renovations. It looks like they've remodeled the entrance and just kept the rest of the Reno budget and only took pictures of the new stuff for their site. There's a great aquarium up front but the restaurant was closed the whole time and there were trash cans in the lobby collecting reason leaks. Dirty, old, musty, peeling wallpaper, and sadly the unfriendly staff was too much and we had to leave early. My son asked if there were cookies. The man behind the counter told him that sometimes there are but seemed annoyed with his question. I doubt that they ever take the time to do that based on his reaction. He seemed bothered by taking care of us at all. It was a huge surprise because the woman I booked with over the phone months earlier was so kind. Save your money and time, stay elsewhere.

« Terrible management, no resolution to complaints! »

I booked a suite here for my daughters birthday so she could bring a few friends and enjoy the pool. We were disappointed that the movie theater was closed and at least half the games in the game room were out of order. But we did bowl so that was fine. The room was nothing special for the price. The entire place is dated and a bit dingy. We were right next to the stairwell so the noise of kids running up and down it all day and night was hard to ignore. The sound proofing of the room was attrocious. You could hear every sound coming from the entire hall, and stairs. You could even hear and feel the vibrations of people using the stairs. The WORST part was that there appeared to be a large group of family/friends that were staying in a block of rooms at the end of the hall. They were so loud and obnoxious. They pulled the furniture OUT OF THEIR ROOMS and arranged it in the hall so they could sit together and eat and drink. There were liquor bottles they were openly drinking out of and their kids were running through the halls playing with noisy toy guns well past the 11 pm quiet time. I called the front desk multiple times all night long because I could not get a wink of sleep. The person told me that they were aware of the problem and had gotten other complaints and would send security down. I don't know if security ever came but the people never quieted down. I finally fell asleep around 3am and cold still here them. I asked to speak to a manager at check out and was told one was not available. The girl asked me what the problem was and I told her and she said yes, she had heard from the night receptionist that there had been a lot of complaints. She said to call on Monday (it was Sunday)to speak to the manager. In the meantime I emailed the address on the card I took from the front desk and also called first thing Monday morning expecting some kind of partial refund or at least an apology. I got the managers voicemail and she never called back and no one ever answered my email. I will NEVER go there again!

    « Great Stay »

This is an excellent hotel facility. Fabulous breakfast, Lots of parking. A very deep and separate shallow swimming pool. Sauna. Hot tub. Very nicely decorated. Quiet end of the city of Midland. Easy on/off access to the highway. Would definitely return here.

    2
    « Extremely Disappointed »

This hotel has many features advertised that are no longer available, or have been broken for a while that the staff is aware of. Customer service not very helpful. I found a bug in my bed on the morning we were checking out, the refrigerator sounded like it was going to explode, we unplugged it. I would not recommend this hotel!

    3
« great staff except one. »

i am a frequent visitor to this hotel.the staff are great but every mourning when i eat breakfast there if Eric is there attending the desk i have to sit out of eyesight so i don't have to see him picking his nose and rolling them around his fingers then eating them..i don't usually complain but i have seen it several times..other than that its a great place to stay for my business trips.

    4
« Nice pool - what about a price break for Canadians! »

hot tub and pool were a nice break from the 30 degree heat outside. We enjoyed some time cooling off. I thought the price of the room was high for the area but the hotel was packed. Best Western should offer a Canadian Money at Par Promotion!! Would help those of us who have seen our dollar hit so hard by currency exchange.

    « Baseball tourney »

Great customer service. Very accommodating. Room was recently remodeled. Does have a weird smell but Not too bad. Breakfast options were great! Pool was great! Shower pressure not great. Overall good stay. Building is just old and brick on inside. Good location.

    5
    « Very Nice »

The room was very clean the beds were so comfortable the pillows were so soft and the staff was very nice. The restaurant that was in the lobby i never saw opened which was sad cause their food was so good when I stayed there a couple years ago.

    4
    « Easy access »

This was a nice place to stay, easily accessed from the expressway. The stay was very quiet. The place itself was kept very clean and nice. The only issue that I had was with the air conditioning system. The air conditioner was not adequately cooling the room, after 4-6 hours it had not even started to cool off. I ended up going out and purchasing a fan to move the air in the room to help to cool it off better. The staff gave me a discount on my room cost to cover the cost of the fan purchase.

    5
    « Jehovah's Witnesses Convention »

The hotel staff were great. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant, including changing their breakfast hours to accommodate our needs. The hotel was very clean. Thank you so much for a great stay!

    4
    « Would Stay Again »

This is a nice hotel situated less than ten minutes outside Midland. It is quiet (at least, it was when we were there), which was nice. The room was clean. The bed was a little hard for our liking, but it was fine. Breakfast was the usual continental selection - pastries, muffins, toast, yogurt, fruit... there was also a waffle maker with whipped cream and various toppings, cereal, scrambled eggs, and ham. It was decent for an included breakfast. All in all, not the greatest hotel we've stayed at, but certainly not the worst. We would stay again.

    « A Great Convention Venue »

Have been going there for 5 years for Eagles State convention. All meetings and events are on the property. They moved the breakfast bar to a different location which did not run as smoothly as previous years.

    4
« Visit back to check out hotel again »

Good hotel but it has a lot of potential to make it a great hotel if they would listen to peoples comments. Bowling and putt-putt and arcade next door. Need to develop the lake / beach area. Great place to put a outside bar. Bring the paddle boats back. Need to get movie theater opened up again. Great place for kids. Should have a restaurant inside hotel again. Steam sauna would be a nice addition. Hot tub and dry sauna worked good and were actually hot. Gets crowded in the afternoon / evenings.

    5
« Great place to stay »

If you are looking for a a great place to stay in the Bay City or Midland Area. We stayed there as a group and the staff and all amenities exceeded our expectations. The Kids loved the pools and games room, and lots of space outside to run around and keep out of trouble, The parents enjoyed the inner court yard and common areas to gather and talk. The breakfast was better than average for a small offering but had lots to choose from and well stocked, The kids loved the Waffle makers. Highly Recommend for a group or family

    4
    « Holiday stay »

Everything was excellent except for the internet. The beds were pretty stiff, we all had back aches the next morning, but the rooms were very quiet and nice size. The pool area was very nice and it had an excellent sized game room with a pool table. They don't make hotels like that anymore. we were very impressed. Will definitely go back, I just hope ya'll have the internet issue fixed by then. :)

    5
    « Excellent »

Staff is extremely accommodating and hotel is clean, quiet and excellent location. Although I didn't use fitness room this time I have in the past and it is extremely convenient. Location is perfect, right off the freeway, about a mile from town.

    4
    « Best Place to Stay !! »

Its a pleasure experience on Best Western, Its best place for family and business stay.. Over all its a good experience - front desk people are more friendly, Cleaning people are best at their job.. I recommend Best Western strongly for the people visit Midland, MI.

« Great stay and fantastic breakfast! »

After reading some of the TA reviews, we were a bit skeptical but have to say, this was a wonderful experience. Check in clerk, Carrie, was delightful and fun and made us feel so welcome. Room was one of the newly refurbished ones and was clean, attractive, comfortable. Heat/AC worked well, bathroom was immaculate. Quiet and spacious room facing the courtyard. Figured out that there is a button by the door that has to be pushed for the wi-fi to work, and the wi-fi was quite good. Breakfast was a highlight. Think Carrie was the hostess there (wondered when she slept!). Food was varied (with gluten free and dairy free options) and included delicious scrambled eggs with sausage pieces, and there was also fresh fruit. One of the nicest and tastiest hotel free buffets we've had. This hotel is older, but with the renovations it's coming into its own. In the complex with a convention center, so hope they make a go of it. A really nice stay for two very weary travelers. Thank you!!

    4
    « I'd stay again »

Please fix the machines in your games room. The air hockey table doesn't keep score, the machine with the claw that drops and you pick up a stuffed animal needs to be restocked...only 2 items left in it. Once of the racing games ate my tokens and the bowling game is out of order.

    5
    « Schaub »

Friend that staff was very nice to talk to. Breakfast was hot rooms were clean and cozy extremely friendly staff great location right off the freeway food and fun for the adults and kids in the same parking lot

    4
« Clean & comfortable for the price »

Clean rooms and breakfast nook. Stayed 2 nights for school event at CMU. Commute was 40 mins each way, but everything else closer was booked. Very satisfied with accommodations overall for the price. Room was a little snug around entry door and bath room. But, it did have an extra sink and mirror outside of bathroom that was very useful for morning prep time. We didn't use the pool although it looked very inviting as well as the whirlpool. Staff was very kind and welcoming. Its no high end hotel, but very clean for an economical priced hotel.

  • 3
« Need to get with the times »

This hotel does not have any type of iradio/clock in the room, old phones and very old TV's. We could count the pixels..... The only way I would go back is if I had not other option in Midland. Dog poop in the parking lot(right outside sliding doors) Front Desk gentleman wouldn't even look up from his computer when he checked us in and talked like he had a something in his mouth. After the 3rd time of asking him to repeat himself we almost left.

    3
« Boy has this place changed! »

Ok place to stay but not the family fun resort it used to be. Many amenities are gone. No restaurants, lounges at hotel. Dirty swimming pool. Doing room repairs, very strong odors from the construction repairs.

    3
« Best Western Valley Plaza Inn »

Staff was friendly, room was ready upon arrival however the microwave had fingerprints, small fridge had dust, and bathtub had hairs, its an updated room we stayed in but they need to focus more on making sure its actually clean for guests. Breakfast area was ok but, I got a yogurt went to eat in the car on the way out it expired April 6th. We went to give our daughter a bath, tub wouldn't hold water, nice touch on having a kiddy pool but it seemed to be cooler than the other pool but still a good concept. Hot tub was hot, but dirty on the outside rim , they had a small arcade air hockey (only one side scoring works) its quite dusty in there and they really should tend to that room more. Went there for my birthday was a little disappointed in hotel as I thought this was going to be a great room for the price but found it to be subpar. I have had issues with Best Western hotels in the past and I find they apologize for problems but don't offer any solution however I did like the concept of having two pools and a game room plus bowling/other activities next door, so thought I would give another shot and wasn't impressed, looks better in pictures.

    « HOTEL STAY »

Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice pool area, free breakfast served until 10:00 am. There is a bowling alley, resturant with bar, putt putt golf, bumper cars, lazer tag, and arcade within walking distance. Everyone had a great time.

    2
    « Outdated »

This hotel is under renovation, currently it is very outdated. A discounted rate should be given to the guest who is given an outdated room. It was just awful. I do want to say though that the entire staff was very friendly. Upon completion of the renovation I would hope that the rooms will be much nicer I would not stay at this hotel again unless the renovation was complete...and amenities updated!

    5
    « Great Place »

This hotel and staff are awesome. They are extremely helpful in working with me on my schedule. I also forgot my phone charger and they were very helpful in returning it to me. I have stayed here several times and have always experienced excellent service. Will definitely return

    3
    « Family fun »

The pool was what we expected and was very enjoyable, but overall the stay was average. The rooms were clean, but nothing spectacular to write home about. The staff looked like common people, they had nothing to identify them as employees, which was a turn off.

    4
    « Very Happy »

Had 10 rooms booked and a conference room and was very satisfied.. The staff was excellent. They were great with our big group. They were helpful in getting us the conference room so we can all eat together. The security was very good. We felt very safe.

« Great place to stay especially for the price »

Very easy to get to, right off the expressway and near a lot of restaurants and even entertainment in the same parking lot, place was clean, love the courtyard, the pool is the biggest I have seen, I would say, my new go to place.

« Decent stay... nice improvements & location »

We were in town for a funeral and stayed here for a night. We tried to check in at 4pm - mind you, check-in time is at 3pm - but our room apparently wasn't ready. The front desk said they would call us when it's ready, so we left and got a call 5 minutes later while we were on the highway - your timing just couldn't have been better. We turned around and checked out the room. They appear to be recently updated with new fixtures, carpet, linen, and furniture. It's definitely a nice touch! I noticed holes and missing drywall where their old lamp fixtures must have been mounted. There was food from the previous guest on the TV remote - yuck! Be warned: you'll be standing in 3 inches of water while taking a shower. Not a fan of where the safe was placed behind the door. You end up opening the door and smacking right into the safe's door. We tried to close it, albeit no luck. The breakfast area wasn't bad, they offered eggs, meat, juice, coffee, yogurt, and more.

    3
« Comfortable and love the location »

We travel to Midland annually for a sports weekend. It's close to the Midland Civic Arena which is always convenient for us. We usually travel with a group, and they keep us together in the same area of the hotel. Rooms are comfortable, and they have a nice continental breakfast in the lobby. This location is actually on the far east side of Midland, which we like. Since we are out-of-towners, we usually try to run to Birch Run during our weekends in Midland. Birch Run is only about a 30 minute, easy drive or so from the hotel. This was probably our third stay at this hotel, and we would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Hotel »

We had a great time at the hotel. I love how the kid's pool is as long as the regular pool and how I didn't have to worry about my kids being in the big pool. I also loved how the bowling alley was right next door and we could bowl, play a game of putt putt, play in the arcade, ride bumper cars and go into the laser maze. My kids loved it and want to go back!

Room was very cold. Floor was freezing. So bad we had to keep our socks and shoes on. Heater worked very poorly. It was on full all night and still never got above 65 degrees. No extra blankets meant we had to sleep in our coats. Tub drain also worked very poorly. At the end of my shower, I was standing in 3 inches of water.

The banquet hall never cleaned the tables, the pool area wasn't very lean came out itching, the heat sucked and now wondering what the heck we are sick with, this is terrible and the staff is insisting its not them

Though it is not the most luxurious place in midland to stay it has everything you need. The pools, sauna, and hot tub are good size and always clean. They have a decent game room with pool table and some games. It also shares a parking lot with Gimmicks (entertainment area with bowling. Usually kid friendly during the day and also have a bar for adults at night). The rooms are spacious, clean and make for a good place to stay for a night or to have a large group in town for a weekend.

« DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! »

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My rating is actually 0.. I stayed here the night before last it was awful!!! The smell in the hallways of weed, cigarettes & B.O was horrendous. I get into my room start looking around and see there is water damage on the ceiling and all around the light fixture along with black mold that was painted over. I have an allergy to penicillin. I ran into the security guard while getting a pop & told him about the room and the smell of the hotel he said "yeah this place is known to be sketchy, its not the Marriott!" the smell of weed/cigarettes in the morning was so strong i had to open up the window. Later after i checked out i see they've charged me $200 so i call they say its a smoking fee!!! I don't smoke and can prove it we get tested for nicotine at work. This is NOT the first time BEST WESTERN has charged me for smoking and i have had to battle it out and prove myself. Why should i have to and you mean to tell me their smoking fee is more than your room!! Clearly this is their scam and obviously they're not putting the money into building repairs! I only stayed at this place because every hotel was booked for the valentines day weekend otherwise i would've turned right back around and got my money back..DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

It was a very busy weekend and the front desk staff worked hard to get us checked into our room early. House keeping kept up with all the room request. Only issue was finding hair on the toilet when we first got into our room...yuk.

Great place to stay. Clean and friendly. I'm sure they had their hands full with this group of people. Breakfast was perfect for a quick bite to eat. Plenty of restaurants near by. This was our second trip. Looking forward to next year! Nice place for the money!

    « Not Very Clean »

for $113 per night, I would have expected a more welcoming experience. When we walked in, the strong oder of overly deep fried foods knocked you off your feet. The couches in the lobby were dirty and it was obvious that no one enforced the no smoking rule because the hallway reeked of smoke!

    « Excellent service! »

This property offers extremely accommodating and friendly staff. It is in desperate need of some remodeling. The beds were comfy but rooms feel drab and a little dirty. But it is a decent value and kids love it.

    « clean and quiet »

This was a great place to stay. The hotel was very clean and quiet. although I was to tired to enjoy them, they had two indoor pools and a hot tub. they also have an excellent hot breakfast. a great feature with this hotel is the bowling alley, and grill right next door. this hotel allowed trucks to park in the car parking spots out front, and there was plenty of room for a truck.

The kids pool is great and the hot tub if the water is hot is also great. Many games in the game room were out of order and in need of attention. The breakfast was delicious. Overall average hotel but the price should be much less in my opinion.

    « While I didn't expect a Hampton Inn »

When I chose this establishment I did so based on my experience with their conference and banquet center ambiance as well as cleanliness and thought the hotel would be of the same quality. While the lobby seemed very welcoming the room was not. The night table next to the bed had cracker crumbs next to the lamp, the mirrors were wiped with something but not cleaned and the bathroom wallpaper was splitting. The appliances in the room required something else to be unplugged for use. The overall impression of the room was one from the 80's which hadn't seen any upgrades since them. The in-room couch on the website turned out to be a nasty arm chair. The bed was as hard as a board. To add to this, the signs prominently posted in the bathroom basically stated we will charge you for missing towels were tacky! This could be placed on the check in forms rather than in the room which made it feel like a no-tell-motel. Across the hall from me were apparently four rooms booked by one family. Constantly throughout the night I heard kids screaming, laughing, running up and down the hall and slamming the doors with the security bars out (to prop them open). I called the front desk at around 11 and asked if the person could address this matter. The person on the phone asked what room number they were in (I was unaware at that time of the exact room numbers). The person on the phone then asked what I would like them to do. I explained I don't know the room numbers but its right outside my door and to please address. The noise and rowdiness didn't stop. After another hour had passed, I opened the door to find several children from the rooms directly across the hall carrying on in the hall screaming, laughing and running. I noted each was running into rooms 100, 102 & 104. There were no adults in the area. I proceeded to the front desk and spoke with a lady who stated; when I went down there they weren't doing it. She then proceeded to follow me and spoke with the individuals. Finally it was quiet. This hotel needs monitoring mechanisms and needs to listen to other patrons concerns. I believe for the price I paid, $96.84 in total, I shouldn't expect a Hampton Inn room; however I do expect some quiet time and a clean room and actually a quiet time after 11.

« Not your typical Best Western »

Best Westerns are our "go to" place when traveling, however this location did not necessarily fit the standard Best Western product. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the building itself caused problems. These may not bother some people, but had I known beforehand I would have chosen a different hotel, so I'm posting this to allow others to be aware in case these are things that would bother them as well. We ultimately ended up changing hotels after the first night. The building almost has the feel of an old office plaza. The hallway walls as well as the walls inside the rooms are red brick which gives a very cold feeling and makes the whole facility (with the exception of the remodeled lobby) feel dark. For our room, opening the curtains didn't help because our window looked out to the brick wall outside. More importantly, though, neither my husband nor I were able to get cell service inside the hotel due to the brick. I had to go out to our car at 11:30pm in order to call our kids, and we were involved in the execution of a surprise party so it was very frustrating to not have cell reception. I had to go outside every so often in order to receive any texts or calls that may have been sent. Additionally, my husband had planned to work from the room one day, but no cell service. So, he went to the Business Center where they had a land-line phone, however, the phone buttons didn't have touchtones, so he was unable to get into a conference call!!? Lastly, when we booked the room, it said the room would have a refrigerator which it did not. When we asked about it, we were told they'd have to see if one was available, because they move them from room to room. One never arrived, so we had to put our leftovers on ice!

My husband and I checked in without difficulty. The room was comfortable, clean, amenities all worked. The pool was warm and clean, the game room was next to it and comfy and clean. We asked to change to a room near the pool upon check in, and the request was easily granted. As Christmas was the next day, and we had family in the area, we did not stay for breakfast, but did enjoy a cup of coffee. (Better than many hotel offerings!)

« Out of date but still decent »

The decor is out of date, but overall it is a decent hotel. While traveling with kiddos this is a good option. They have two pools, one of them being a large kiddy pool, and the larger pool has a nine foot section which don't find often in hotel pools. It also has a sauna and hot tub. The staff is very nice, even though they were dealing with a huge amount of pre-teen and teen children from sporting events. They had a large breakfast (though I suggest they get a new kind of sausage...tasted like bad hot dogs). We all had something warm for breakfast and had a place to sit. It was set up nicely and this is one of the updated parts of the hotel. I would probably stay there again, but probably not at the rate we got (though it was a weekend). We were supposed to stay at the hotel that shares a parking lot but they had a water main break so we were transferred to this one and it worked out just fine :)

    « Great Experience »

Hockey group had a great stay. We were treated very well. Front desk was great. Hotel was very comfortable and clean. Kids liked the breakfast bar. Great location for hockey since it is less than a mile from the rink. We would stay again.

« Family Party in Conference Room »

We had our family Christmas Party in the Observation Room. It was very roomy for 45 people and worked out well. It was set up with round tables with vinyl table coverings and they even set up a Christmas tree. The room was clean buy starting to show its age and in need of some remodeling. The beds were comfortable. We had 2 queen beds in our room.

« Nice place with a very accommodating staff »

We stayed there over Thanksgiving, 12 family members. The entire staff was very accommodating when we needed extra space for eating and just sitting around talking. I can't say enough about how nice all of the staff were.

« Very clean rooms with great character »

I was really impressed with the cleanliness of our room. It had a fridge and a microwave as well as an additional sink in the room outside the bathroom, which was very handy! The all brick walls and hallways created a warm and unique character. The hotel isn't much to look at from the outside but once inside it was very enjoyable! We were there for a hockey tournament and the location was VERY convenient for getting to the rink. The indoor golfing and bowling center across the parking lot was also a great place for the kids to go and have some fun between games. The restaurant inside the bowling alley had great food and good variety of beers on tap. Perfect for adults and kids. The only downside was the location to other restaurants and shopping. We had to go down one more exit (5 miles) in order to have access to a variety of restaurants and shopping centers. I would definitely stay there again!

Not your normal Best western, once I stayed and did their survey, they asked me not to return.# not that we were ever going to..# Bad customer service, this is the only,Best western I've ever had trouble with, the staff was very very friendly, and helpful , however the bad far out weighed the good, do your self a favor, find the next nearest best western. Went a few miles down the road to holiday Inn express...it was lovely...

« Ideal location to interstate, Genghis Khan restaurant and cider mills »

The Best Western Valley Plaza Inn could not be better located. It is at the exit from the highway and is across the street from the Genghis Khan restaurant which is the best in town. The resort itself has bowling, mini-golf, a gym and two indoor pools as well as a hot tub and sauna. The cider mills are 15 minutes away and the hotel staff were helpful and extremely friendly. The bed was very comfortable. We would certainly recommend this property. There are two breakfast rooms and there is a little cafe as well for other hours of the day.

great room for the price very clean and comfortable the the carpet needs to be updated there were stains that made it look bad. They have been updating the rooms so maybe this is in the next round. over all a nice hotel. The breakfast could have been a little better the scrambled eggs were over done and there was gravy but no biscuits,

    « Fall Colors Venture »

This hotel is conveniently located near shopping and full Fall foliage viewing up I-75. There is also a bowling alley and restaurant in the complex (the movie theatre was however closed). The pool and game room with pool table were also an added bonus if traveling with kids.

Had a great stay staff was very helpful and the surroundings were impressive. We loved the continental breakfast and the courtyard, also enjoyed the swimming pool and the gym while we were there. I would tell other people to most definetly stay there.

    « Well..... »

Hotel clean/Staff friendly/Breakfast okay/needs more of a selection on daily basis/Television remote work half the time . Over all stay was okay/PS should have kept the movie theatre open . It was a bad idea to close down the theatre. Located about 3 miles from Dow Chemical Co.

« Decent Place But A Little Over Priced »

The overall stay was ok. Seemed clean and had a decent breakfast selection. For the quality of hotel overall it seemed a little over priced. There really weren't any better options so they have you over a barrel.

    « Needs better cleaning »

The housekeeping could be improved. There was trash and old food crumbs behind the night stand and beds. The rest of the hotel wasn't that bad but the the breakfast was not really worth going too. They have a sandwich shop that's right by the lobby but it only seemed to be open during breakfast, would have been nice to be open during lunch or dinner.

    « Welll-appointed room »

This was our last stop after doing the Lake Superior Circle Tour and I found it was the hotel that offered the best room amenities including two folding luggage holders (I am astounded that hotels routinely rent a room to 2 or more adults, but provide only one luggage holder). No view, sadly, but if that is important to you, as it is to me, I recommend asking for a room that opens onto the inner courtyard, instead of the parking lot.

« Great hotel and servie »

I stayed here two nights with my family. The pool is great. Also have separate hot tub and sauna. Game room with air hockey and pool table and video games. Very light breakfast and the eggs were rubbery but better than some. PET FRIENDLY! Next door is a bowling alley, laser maze, game room, and bar with great burgers. They also have a great courtyard with outdoor furniture, grill, etc. Only 8 minutes from downtown and private. I would recommend and plan to stay here again.
